- 2:18Sports Live, I'm not very happy to have her on.
- 2:20A beautiful woman. We are now talking to CEO of The
- 2:24Draft Network, Paige Demacos. What's up guys?
- 2:29Paige, what's up? What's going on?
- 2:31What's going? Listen, I was thoroughly
- 2:34entertained by the Angel Reese conversation that was happening
- 2:37because I am a Chicagoan and I can tell you that half of those
- 2:40rebounds, she got up her own shots.
- 2:42So we're happy. We are happy to take those two
- 2:45first round picks and say, say la vie Angel, we're trying to
- 2:48play back. We're trying to play basketball
- 2:49in Chicago, baby. We're not trying to mess around.
- 2:51I'm not trying to mess around. I like that she uses say la vie.
- 2:54I mean, any, any other words, any other words you could teach
- 2:58us or some of our fans right now listening to the show?
- 3:01Oh, listen, I don't know how many Greeks are on the show, but
- 3:03if you want to insult somebody, you can call them a malacca.
- 3:06A Malacca? What does that sound?
- 3:07For yeah. What's the stand for?
- 3:09It's it's it encompasses pretty much every bad word that exists
- 3:13in the English language is Malacca.
- 3:15Speedy or a Malacca? You're a Malacca.
- 3:17I'm not very young, doesn't qualify.
- 3:19You're a Malacca speedy. For all the fans out there,
- 3:21that's. The questions with Speedy.
- 3:23You can call me a Malacca because I'm wearing this ugly
- 3:26whatever you call this. Absolutely.
- 3:28Yeah, Malacca. I'm a Malacca.
- 3:31I'm a Malacca. Whatever you got on.
- 3:32This is perfect. Yeah, this is.
- 3:34This is a lot of Malacca behavior on.
- 3:36Here. Perfect.
- 3:37Did you just call me? Did you call me a libida?
- 3:39Is that what you just said? I mean, I know about that, but
- 3:44I, I, I guess I'm a Malacca. Anyways, Paige, I want to get
- 3:47into some some football. I saw some of your posts and you
- 3:50were speaking about The Jets and you were talking about
- 3:53quarterbacks and that The Jets might be interested in a
- 3:56quarterback in this year's draft.
- 3:58I love Ty Simpson now, I'm not moving up to try to get him.
- 4:02You know, Quinton's, you know, making and he's smiling.
- 4:04But I think this kid has great footwork.
- 4:06I think he's a great arm. I think sitting behind Geno
- 4:09Smith for a year, it gives him some time.
- 4:11You don't want to go into next year's draft and start this guy
- 4:14or whoever you decide to draft if it's a Manning or it's a more
- 4:17who decided to go back into this year's draft?
- 4:19I mean, just this year's offseason and college football
- 4:23with organ. I mean, right now, Ty Simpson
- 4:26could be a guy that you sit out, let him learn the offense on the
- 4:29Frank Wright and and figure out, you know, who he is as an NFL
- 4:32player. What are your thoughts, Jets?
- 4:34If he's sitting there at 16, I don't think he will be Ty
- 4:37Simpson going to the New York Jets.
- 4:39I think he will be there at 16 because the only team that's
- 4:42really evaluating him and thinking about him as a first
- 4:44round pick is that are The Jets. That's really you're talking
- 4:48about The Jets and the Cardinals like Ty Simpson a lot, but it's
- 4:51way too rich at three. So the conversation with the
- 4:54Cardinals that I've had a lot of back and forth with them on is
- 4:58for them to come back into the first round.
- 4:59The Jets have the benefit of obviously having two first round
- 5:02picks. There's no chance you take him
- 5:04at 2. That would be an absolute reach
- 5:06at the highest level, considering where we are
- 5:08evaluated awaiting him at this point. 16 would still be a
- 5:11little rich for me. I'd love for him to be able to
- 5:13to be able to come in at the at the first part of the second of
- 5:16the second round. That would be the perfect
- 5:18situation. But we know how The Jets are and
- 5:19we also know how your owner is and Woody Johnson can't help
- 5:23himself. That's your that's your that's
- 5:25your biggest problem when it comes to setting your draft
- 5:27board thinking you got a plan and then the plan changes last
- 5:31minute because he's very disruptive with what happens in
- 5:34the draft process. And that's just a part that you
- 5:37have to factor in. You've got a weird situation now
- 5:40where Aaron Glenn is now in year 2, but with a totally new staff,
- 5:44got guys that he brought in necessarily right at the
- 5:46beginning. And so now I'm looking at this
- 5:48and I'm going, okay, how is this gonna work out, right?
- 5:51How do The Jets turn the corner from doing the same damn thing
- 5:54every single year, right, guys? Like, sorry, I got I got a cough
- 5:59in my 'cause I'm talking about Woody and I'm and I'm getting
- 6:01excited, right? I'm getting excited.
- 6:03That's that's what happens. But I think the reality is I
- 6:07like Ty Simpson a lot. He's a good he's I, I had a
- 6:09great interview with him. I saw him.
- 6:11I've talked to his coaches, but he is a player that you cannot
- 6:15start right away. So do you trust The Jets?
- 6:18This is a question for you guys. Do you trust The Jets and the
- 6:22and the New York media to allow him an entire year to red shirt
- 6:26'cause that's what has to happen.
- 6:28He needs to come and that's the problem.
- 6:30There lies the problem because yes, in theory it's a great idea
- 6:34to think that he could sit for an entire year behind Gino
- 6:37because that's what needs to happen.
- 6:39The problem is I know New York, I know the media and I know The
- 6:42Jets owner and that won't happen.
- 6:44He will be forced to play way too early.
- 6:46Gino will struggle and they will put him in and it will be a
- 6:49disaster. So to me, unless you can change
- 6:52the behavior of your owner and you can guarantee me that the
- 6:55New York media is going to actually allow a player the
- 6:58amount of time he needs to to develop.
- 7:01It's a tough situation. I like Ty, but he's not ready.
- 7:04He's not he's not going to be a guy that's going to come and be
- 7:06ready to go right away. He's only had 15 starts in
- 7:08college. He is not ready to go play in
- 7:10New York and ready to rock. He's got a lot of upside player
- 7:13I like, but hopefully somebody can get a hold of Woody Johnson,
- 7:16not allow him to get on the phone and make any phone calls
- 7:18maybe and that'll and that'll be the way you get this done.
- 7:21Can't be a paddle, That's what you need.
- 7:23I have a paddle or a nice jets paddle.
- 7:26Pull down those pants and spank it a couple times.
- 7:29Do not, do not play this guy this year.
- 7:32I like Ty Simpson too. I think he has great footwork.
- 7:35I think he's got great arm. He played on Alabama team that
- 7:38wasn't overly talented this year.
- 7:40Everybody keeps saying they were, they really weren't.
- 7:42They didn't have those positions that were dominant.
- 7:45Their offensive line sucked. They had no offensive line and
- 7:48and they're running game, which has been dominant for years.
- 7:50They they lost their running back early in the season and
- 7:53they couldn't find 1. So I, I thought he was really,
- 7:56really good. He was a Heisman Trophy
- 7:57candidate until the last money of the The last month I said
- 8:01money last month of the season. So I.
- 8:03To your to your point like this isn't we're not arguing whether
- 8:07there's no argument this this team's roster was not what to a
- 8:11tongue by law had two ahead first rounders all over first
- 8:15round wide receiver, wide receiver, running back, backup
- 8:18running back like this this Alabama roster as far as skilled
- 8:22position players was not what we have seen over the last decade.
- 8:26It just wasn't. And so you have to factor that
- 8:28into the evaluation when you're talking about looking at this
- 8:31guy, it's not what we are accustomed to seeing from
- 8:34Alabama. So yes, he had up and down
- 8:37moments much like most quarterbacks do in college.
- 8:40You like the upside, you like the fact that as far as places
- 8:44to play the position, Alabama is one of the toughest, if not the
- 8:48toughest environments to have to play the quarterback position.
- 8:52You are under constant scrutiny. You can't go to a gas station
- 8:56without somebody heckling you non-stop.
- 8:59But that is mentally. I asked him that when I
- 9:01interviewed him, I said, do you feel comfortable handling any
- 9:04market because of Alabama? And he said, listen, I, I
- 9:07couldn't go to class. I couldn't like you can't go
- 9:09anywhere, right? You, you are constantly being
- 9:13heckled, evaluated, disrupted. And so to me, that part of him
- 9:17too is very, I guess as as prepared for the New York media
- 9:21as you can be. Alabama quarterbacks are have a
- 9:24leg up because they are just scrutinized at a level because
- 9:27there's nothing else to do in Alabama.
- 9:29All they got is the Crimson Tide.
- 9:30So that that is it's constant. It never ends.
- 9:33And he also had the unfortunate part of saving, retiring where
- 9:37they did not prepare for that. They switch over to Caitlin
- 9:40Dubois. It's a totally different system.
- 9:42Not what he was expecting. I like Ty, I like the upside.
- 9:45I just don't like what The Jets do to quarterbacks.
- 9:48That's it. And there's not much else I
- 9:50could say. By the way, we are talking to
- 9:52CEO of The Draft Network, Paige Demacos.
- 9:56So what I really want to get into is Jeremiah Love, who I met
- 10:02at the Heisman Trophy dinner. I liked him.
- 10:05A lot of people, a lot of people didn't really attack him when it
- 10:09came to Notre Dame because I thought they got robbed.
- 10:11Even though Miami made that run all the way to the national
- 10:14championship, a lot of people thought that Notre Dame should
- 10:16have been there. They should have been one of
- 10:18those teams, and nobody harped on it.
- 10:20Nobody attacked him. And he was very polite, very
- 10:23accustomed to the cameras in front of his face.
- 10:27Now there there's some stories coming out that Jeremiah Love
- 10:30could be slowly moving up in the draft.
- 10:32Some people think he could be in the top five.
- 10:34He could go 5 to the Giants. What are your thoughts of
- 10:37Jeremiah Love? Do you think he's a top five
- 10:38talent? He's a, he's a as good a
- 10:41prospect as you can have coming out of college like he is.
- 10:44He checks every box. He is as good as as good as
- 10:47advertised, if to me, even better.
- 10:49What he and Jadarian Price were asked to do by Marcus Freeman is
- 10:53something that most guys are not doing in this age of NIL and the
- 10:57transfer portal splitting carries, choosing your mates,
- 11:00staying loyal, being there, not being because in any other
- 11:04system, Jeremiah loves coming and they're going.
- 11:05You're the man You're not. We're not splitting carries.
- 11:08We're not, we're not. There's no split back field.
- 11:10There's no hey, you are the guy and we don't got to worry about
- 11:13it. He him humbling himself under
- 11:15Marcus Freeman in tandem with Jadarian Price.
- 11:17I had a conversation with both of them and with Marcus.
- 11:20To me, that's the part of him, just the intangibles, who he is
- 11:23as a teammate. I mean, if you guys watch Jameer
- 11:27Gibbs, right, and you see the impact he makes of the Detroit
- 11:30Lions, the bigger, faster, stronger version of him is, is
- 11:33Jeremiah Love. I'm, I don't, I don't know how
- 11:36much else to say. The Detroit Lions got heckled
- 11:38for that pick and now what? Nobody says nothing because 45%
- 11:43of plays this year in the NFL were run plays.
- 11:45So maybe we need to stop pretending like running backs
- 11:48don't matter because they do matter.
- 11:50Jeremiah Love is the most explosive player coming out of
- 11:52this draft. To me, he's the most guaranteed
- 11:56pick that you can make. Is this guy.
- 11:58I, I, he's, I, I would take him on any team.
- 12:01There's no way you can't figure out a way for him to be
- 12:04successful. He's as good as good as
- 12:07advertised, if not better. And yeah, I think any team would
- 12:09be very lucky to have Jeremiah. Skill sets.
- 12:11Insane full sets. So you gotta go in the top five.
- 12:14He might go top five. I think the Tennessee Titans are
- 12:16bluffing. I think the, I think the Titans
- 12:19are bluffing and I think they're gonna take him.
- 12:21I think they, I think they're, they're very good, very good
- 12:23opportunity for him to go there cuz to, to pair him with Cam
- 12:26Ward would give Cam such a leg up as far as a young quarterback
- 12:30having somebody that you can rely on.
- 12:32You look at that wide receiver room.
- 12:34There's not, there's a lot left to be desired.
- 12:36And as much as I like these wide receivers, I don't want to take
- 12:39a receiver in the top five. There's no, there's nobody that
- 12:42I'm like super in love with. I'd rather take Jeremiah Love.
- 12:46And so to me, if you're if you want to help your young
- 12:48quarterback and you need offensive weapons, the best
- 12:52offensive weapon in this draft is Jeremiah Love.
- 12:54That's the direction. And I also know how the game
- 12:57played. I love that Robert Salas sitting
- 12:58there. Yeah, I I love my running
- 13:00backroom. Yeah.
- 13:00What do you expect him to say? They're all saying that like,
- 13:03yeah, that's this is this is what happens.
- 13:05But the Giants would be interesting if they take them at
- 13:08top five because we all know how the Saquon Barkley situation
- 13:10went back and forth and Joe Shane's there still.
- 13:13It's I think there's an emotional situation that happens
- 13:16with that conversation, but he's not making the calls.
- 13:19Anyways. John Harbaugh is going to be the
- 13:20one with the final say. So I don't know that it matters
- 13:23what what Joe Sheen thinks at this juncture.
- 13:26So you kind of answered the first part of my question
- 13:27already about Carnell Tate going in the top five.
- 13:29It doesn't seem like you have MSA top five pick.
- 13:31I was just asking a lot of the other general wide receivers,
- 13:33Jordan Tyson I've seen like top ten ratings.
- 13:35Obviously Makai Lemon, there was a whole combine issues with him,
- 13:37but now they think it would be a backup in the first round.
- 13:39How do you conceive the perceive the wide receiver rankings in
- 13:42this draft overall value wise? Yeah, I mean, I like all these
- 13:45receivers, the guys you just mentioned, there's a lot of
- 13:47upside for all those guys. But when I specifically to the
- 13:50Titans at 4:00, I just, I wouldn't, I would rather if it's
- 13:54Jeremiah Love or Carnell Tate, it's Jeremiah Love for me.
- 13:57If it's Jeremiah Love or Mackayla Mackay Lemon, it's
- 14:00Jeremiah Love. Like I understand you're
- 14:02evaluating two different positions, but I'm evaluating
- 14:04total impact to the offense. And to me, teams get themselves
- 14:08in trouble when they don't draft the best player available.
- 14:11And that's when you go into the draft, your perfect process is
- 14:14you are not needy in any position.
- 14:16Now, the best franchises do that.
- 14:18Most a lot of franchises don't because they're not very good at
- 14:21this, right? They're constant turnover.
- 14:23So to me, that's where I look at this and I go, OK, all these
- 14:26receivers, there's a lot of teams that are needy of
- 14:28receivers going into this draft and they're lucky that this this
- 14:31draft class is a lot of guys that are that are worthwhile as
- 14:34far as total package as a receiver, I like a lot of these
- 14:37guys. I like Casey Concepcion, I like,
- 14:40I like Jordan Tyson, I like Mackay Lemon.
- 14:42These are all guys that I Mackay fields from Notre Dame.
- 14:45There's a lot of guys in this draft that you can get, but the
- 14:48difference between Malachi Fields to me that you could
- 14:51potentially get at the end of the first round or maybe even
- 14:53the beginning of the second round or second round.
- 14:55And Mackay Lemon and Cardinal Tate.
- 14:58I don't know that I I don't know that I would evaluate taking
- 15:00them in the top five. I think it passed that point.
- 15:02Yeah, I'd feel comfortable. I'd feel pretty comfortable.
- 15:05Going to the end of the month, you know, being the trap, who's
- 15:07your sleeper pick this year going into the draft that not
- 15:11really getting a lot of notoriety but is jumping out to
- 15:14you? Yeah, Zion, young pass rusher
- 15:17from from Missouri, freak of nature, was up close and
- 15:21personal at the Senior Bowl. Watched him every day and the
- 15:23one on ones just destroy people, manhandle people that defense.
- 15:28They had a lot of continuity. That Missouri team was, to me,
- 15:31very underrated in college football this year.
- 15:33If you watch them, they were really damn good football team.
- 15:36There's a lot of talent that came out of that school.
- 15:39Zion is the youngest of 12 kids. When you come from that you just
- 15:45any anytime a player tells anytime a player tells me I'm
- 15:49the youngest of insert 3 or more children.
- 15:52I know that that guy got beat up his whole life and he's got a
- 15:55toughness level that you can't replicate right?
- 15:57Because there's just there's just something that happens when
- 15:59you got 4 kids and the youngest, the youngest is just getting
- 16:02bullied all day long. That's what happens when you got
- 16:0411 older brothers and sisters. You just get your ass whooped.
- 16:07Like that's just every day all day.
- 16:09And he just has this level of toughness and also understanding
- 16:13that I think a lot of players that play that position don't
- 16:15necessarily always have. So, yeah, he's a guy.
- 16:17There's a lot of great defensive players in this draft class,
- 16:20especially at the edge position. But I think Zion's not really
- 16:23getting enough love as far as how good he was and quite
- 16:26frankly, how dominant he was at the Senior Bowl when a lot of
- 16:29these guys were all right in front of us.
- 16:31And Zion was one of the ones that really showed out,
- 16:33including winning MVP of the game on Saturday.
- 16:37We are talking to CEO of the Draft Network, Paige Demacos.
- 16:40You know, Paige, Ruben Bain has been a guy that a lot of people
- 16:45love. They love him.
- 16:47He didn't really show his talents at the combine.
- 16:51He does have his pro day and he's going to prove everything
- 16:54he's worth. But a lot of people think his
- 16:56arm length is not NFL quality and a lot of people are going to
- 17:00pass on him because of certain athletically the athletic things
- 17:04that he might have wrong going into this year's draft.
- 17:07But a lot of guys, a lot of pass rushers that I speak to that
- 17:11have been in the NFL, college players, college coaches, even
- 17:15high school coaches that I talk about Ruben Bayne, how talent
- 17:18talented this kid is. Everybody thinks this guy could
- 17:21be the best pass rusher in this draft.
- 17:23What are your thoughts to Ruben Bayne?
- 17:25Who do you think might move up or might draft this kid?
- 17:29Yeah. So this is probably one of the
- 17:31most polarizing top process aspects that I can recall since
- 17:36I've been covering the draft since 2018.
- 17:38And that's because people in the NFL personnel do not like to
- 17:42bank on the outliers, right? And that's what you're banking
- 17:45on here when you're talking about there is not a single
- 17:48double digit sack artist that has had 30 inch arms or less,
- 17:53right? So he does not fit the the mold
- 17:56of what is the norm in the NFL and that's not for five years
- 18:00you're talking about. It has never happened in the
- 18:02last 20 years. There's never been a double
- 18:04digit sack guy that comes with his measurables.
- 18:07That being said, his tape is so good, right?
- 18:11That people are just that this is going to be that one where
- 18:16people are going to, they're going to bank on him continuing
- 18:19to do this at the next level because the tape is so good.
- 18:22The tape is so good and he's done it consistently for a very
- 18:25long time. But this is the conversation
- 18:28that I probably had the most with NFL personnel because
- 18:31everybody split, including within their own organizations
- 18:35where you've got some personnel guys that are like, you know
- 18:37what, we're willing to take the risk and some that aren't to me
- 18:40when you are, The Jets said, too, right, you can't take that
- 18:44risk. You're not in a position to
- 18:46afford yourself the opportunity to not take the more sure thing
- 18:50when there's too many excellent defensive players coming out of
- 18:54this draft, right, Arvel Reece, Sonny Styles, There's there's
- 18:57there's too many guys that we know for sure not only fit the
- 19:00athletic measurables, but the tape is also excellent as well.
- 19:04So I do think he's going to be a top draft flick.
- 19:07I don't think that this is going to keep him from dropping.
- 19:11You say, you know, out of the first round that could, but I
- 19:13don't think there's any chance that that happens.
- 19:15But I do know that there are a lot of organizations that are
- 19:19afraid because he is not the mold of what they're used to.
- 19:23And nobody likes to bank on the outlier.
- 19:26It's just you don't want to be the guy that gets made fun of at
- 19:28the next NFL owners meetings because you drafted the guy and
- 19:32you thought you could make him the man, right?
- 19:34So I think he needs to go to a system where it's not going to
- 19:37be instantaneously. He's the only guy, right.
- 19:40Maybe they got a guy on the other side to make sure that
- 19:43he's he's not going to be the only one getting to the
- 19:44quarterback. So we'll see.
- 19:46I like the tape. I like the player a lot.
- 19:48I I tend to think the measurable stuff is a little bit overhyped
- 19:52in the scouting community, but this is one of those ones that's
- 19:55like it's hard to justify when he there isn't a single double
- 19:59digit sack artist that fits this the this mold.
- 20:02Car now Carnal Tate is a guy that everybody keeps talking
- 20:06about. This guy's the best wide
- 20:08receiver in this class is the explosive.
- 20:10This guy's injury prone Ohio State Buckeyes.
- 20:13We've seen how many Buckeyes come out of the draft and become
- 20:16superstars in the NFL. One of them, Mr. Najiba, he's
- 20:20pretty damn good. Garrett Wilson with the New York
- 20:22Jets is pretty damn good. We could go on and on and on.
- 20:25What Ohio State brings to the forefront when it comes to wide
- 20:28receiver, receiver position? Carnell Tate, There's a lot of
- 20:32questions with him. What do you think the type of
- 20:35talent he is? Is he a superstar?
- 20:37Is he a predominant number one guy?
- 20:39Who do you think would draft this kid?
- 20:41And do you think he's as explosive as some of the wide
- 20:44receivers we've seen come out of Ohio State?
- 20:47Yeah, I mean, he's very talented player.
- 20:48This is a guy I watched here. He was training at Exos in
- 20:51Phoenix and all the top, I mean of of all the guys that were
- 20:55training out here, it was a lot of the receivers that are going
- 20:59to go in the first round. We're all out here at Exos.
- 21:01So I saw them kind of going one V1.
- 21:03There was a group of eight to 10 of them that were all really,
- 21:06really active every day. And so I kind of got to see the
- 21:09dynamic between him, Jordan, Tyson, McKay, Lemon, they were
- 21:14all here, right? Casey Concepcion, they were all
- 21:16literally of the top guys, I think 10 of the 12 top
- 21:20receivers, They were all here in Phoenix.
- 21:22So I got to see who stuck out as the alpha amongst the group, and
- 21:25that was Cardinal Tate by far. He was the one who was talking
- 21:30the most. He was.
- 21:31And then to me, I like a receiver that runs his mouth.
- 21:34I want a receiver. That's because you got to be
- 21:37able to talk trash. You got to be able to stand
- 21:38unless you're Larry Fitzgerald, who to me is an exception to the
- 21:41rule. There is.
- 21:44I like what I've seen from him. I also like the Brian Hartline
- 21:47pipeline from Ohio State. Obviously they have continuously
- 21:50put in top level tie and talent that comes into the league.
- 21:55I like him a lot and I I I can only speak to and, and give your
- 21:59audience some of the moments that I got to see by myself that
- 22:03I think stick out to me and the things that the NFL cared about
- 22:06they add. The number one question I got is
- 22:08who was the alpha of the top receiver group and by far and
- 22:11away was Carnell. Tate wasn't close.
- 22:13Alright, I'll bring up to two players from positions that
- 22:15aren't like valued as much. We see Sunny Styles as one of
- 22:18the Merrill brought up earlier, Freak athlete, hybrid
- 22:20linebacker, safety, had a great combine and the other one is
- 22:22Kenyan Sadiq. First round grade, two of them
- 22:26in the first round, one in which your team in Colston, Loveland,
- 22:28the other one to Tyler Warren to the Indianapolis Colts.
- 22:30Where do you see those two draft stock wise?
- 22:33Yeah, sign me up for Kenyan Sadiq.
- 22:35And as as soon as the top ten. This guy is an athletic freak.
- 22:41That term gets gets thrown around a lot.
- 22:43You're talking when you watched him do his combine training, he
- 22:46was also out here in Phoenix. Everything he did looked easy.
- 22:50And when an athlete makes stuff like that look easy amongst a
- 22:52bunch of 1 percenters, it's insane to watch.
- 22:56And that's what we're talking about as far as his fluidity,
- 22:59how he moves, his athleticism, every for whether it's jumping,
- 23:03running, just across the board. This is a total package as far
- 23:08as the tight end goes. Obviously I'm I grew up in
- 23:10Chicago, I'm a Bears fan. I saw what the impact of Colson
- 23:13Loveland did. I saw what Tyler Warren did.
- 23:15You obviously have seen what Brock Bowers has done in his
- 23:18young career already for the Raiders, even with their
- 23:20quarterback play all over the place.
- 23:22So I think when you you look at this guy, I understand that Kyle
- 23:26Pitts is franchise tagged and potentially on the trading
- 23:29block. And there may be some hesitation
- 23:32on as far as the athleticism and some of the measurables that
- 23:36comp to each other. But I caution people not to
- 23:38project things onto other players.
- 23:40They are not the same. They didn't come from the same
- 23:42program. They have nothing in common
- 23:44other than they're both athletic freaks.
- 23:46It has nothing to do. One has nothing to do with the
- 23:48other. This is a great football player.
- 23:51I think he could be one of the best coming out of this class
- 23:54and any, any team would be lucky to have him.
- 23:56But I've I've started to hear Cincinnati just saying, you know
- 23:59what, we're going to suck on defense and just go with just
- 24:01try and score as many points as possible.
- 24:03If they add him to as the tight end, I mean, good Lord, they
- 24:06probably put up 40 points and lose 4540 every game.
- 24:09But you know that to each his own.
- 24:11To each his own. Yeah.
- 24:12So I want to talk about the the bang comment that you made
- 24:15earlier. I do think that he is a little
- 24:17bit undersized in regards to being an edge rushers with The
- 24:20Jets picking that number 2, I personally think they maybe
- 24:24should go more interior than anterior from an edge rush.
- 24:28I think getting rid of Quinton was one of the dumbest mistakes
- 24:31they made last year, but they made it and I think they have
- 24:33opportunity to pick it up now. A guy that I'm looking at now
- 24:36with Carl Banks, what do you think about them changing from
- 24:40my S rush to an interior D lineman that can actually be
- 24:42beneficial? I also get to the path I mean
- 24:45also get to the QB but not but I also can stop the run as well.
- 24:48So you talking at pick two, you who would you take there at pick
- 24:52two then if you're talking interior?
- 24:54I mean, the air just is all sexy, you know?
- 24:57I mean with the sex, but I also think that it depends on the
- 25:00system that makes the player. It's not going to be. 100%.
- 25:04Byproduct of that right for 3:00 PM to go into a 3-4 mess up Rd.
- 25:08shenanigans right. So for me, I think that that the
- 25:12detailed composition needs to be replaced.
- 25:14Like I said, I like Carl Banks. I like and it, but I also look
- 25:18at what's this guy named Peter Woods from Kempson.
- 25:23Yeah, I think he's good too. He's a stud, He's a stud.
- 25:26Super like strong. But at 16, At 16, not at 2.
- 25:32So you think 2:00 should be is rusher?
- 25:34Edge rusher or or the OR or or the linebackers, one of those
- 25:38something like to me, I don't think unless they go David
- 25:42Bailey. I I could see them going David
- 25:44Bailey. That's that's a that's a pic
- 25:45that's been mocked to them a lot.
- 25:48I just don't think you could take.
- 25:49I like Peter Woods a lot. I just don't see him going
- 25:52inside the top five, especially at two there.
- 25:54I think you got a more than likely you're looking at Arvel
- 25:57Reese. That's the that's.
- 25:59I like him as a linebacker, not an edge rusher.
- 26:01Though I agree, I agree, I agree, but I think the that that
- 26:05position has been devalued again and the running back position in
- 26:08the linebacker position have been devalued over the scouting
- 26:10community in the media and I don't understand it.
- 26:13The linebacker is one of the most important positions on the
- 26:16football field and running back is also one of the like.
- 26:19To think that there are positions you can just check out
- 26:22of is not is just nonsense. That's not how winning football
- 26:26works. You cannot just not run the
- 26:28football. You can't just not have good
- 26:30linebackers. It is literally not an example
- 26:33in the history of the of football where there's a Super
- 26:35Bowl champion that didn't do either of those things.
- 26:37Well, I think you look at Arvel Reese as, I mean, he's a total
- 26:41package at 2. It'd be hard to for me to pass
- 26:45up on him. I like David Bailey a lot.
- 26:48But if I was picking at 2 and I was The Jets, I'd be, I'd be
- 26:52taking Arvel Reese. That's that's what I would be
- 26:54taking. We are talking to CEO of the
- 26:57Draft Network, Paige Demacos. Now Paige, I, I want to get off
- 27:01the draft just for, just for a little bit.
- 27:04And Max Crosby is something that I every day I think about it,
- 27:10I'm like wondering why did Baltimore walk away from
- 27:14bringing in a impact player this good?
- 27:16Think about it right now, they're in a division where you
- 27:19have to play what? Or Miles Garrett, two of the
- 27:23best defensive lineman in a league.
- 27:24Max Crosby you can argue is right there, maybe 3-4.
- 27:28Michael Parsons is there. You can argue Michael Parsons
- 27:31also coming off a big injury and Max Crosby meniscus surgery.
- 27:35I mean, it's not an ACL, it's not an MCL.
- 27:39This is a meniscus surgery. And you're crying out.
- 27:43The Baltimore Ravens, who have been an organization that's been
- 27:46known for their defense and over the last couple of years,
- 27:49they've been an absolute mockery.
- 27:50They do have Hamilton. They have players that are
- 27:53impact players, but they don't have an elite pass rusher and
- 27:57Max Crosby is an elite pass rusher.
- 28:00You trade them for two first round draft picks and honestly,
- 28:05you don't know what those two first round draft picks are
- 28:07going to be. You know what match Crosby is.
- 28:09What the hell is that organization thinking?
- 28:13I I have no idea. And Tom Brady's probably smiling
- 28:16right now because he's laughing to the bank because guess what?
- 28:19I, yeah, we didn't get 2 first round draft picks, but we got
- 28:22Max Crosby. We could sit on him.
- 28:24We can move them after the draft.
- 28:26We can move them during the draft and still get equal talent
- 28:29from that. If, if, if need be, you can get
- 28:31a player and a draft pick and be happy with that.
- 28:34I don't think they're moving him now.
- 28:35I think Max Crosby will be a Raider this year.
- 28:38What were your thoughts when you heard this debacle of of what
- 28:43Baltimore did? So I was just at the NFL owners
- 28:45meetings here in Phoenix in this conversation was one that was
- 28:48had probably more than any any conversation because Baltimore
- 28:53before this happened was I would say one of the most respected
- 28:59and highly valued and looked at with they operate with integrity
- 29:04across the league. The impact of what happened is
- 29:07not just how the players are viewing this situation.
- 29:10It's also how every other team feels about them and making
- 29:14deals with them in the future, right?
- 29:15There are serious repercussions for going back on your word when
- 29:20you do what they did. And to me, this is everybody
- 29:24that I've talked to has come to the same conclusion, which is
- 29:27they had too much time to sit and think on this, right?
- 29:31They made this deal the Friday before free agency week happens
- 29:34and this is part of the reason why.
- 29:36The tampering shit for me is ridiculous right?
- 29:38I'm like OK we all know all these deals get talked about at
- 29:42the combine. They leave the combine.
- 29:44These deals are already 90% done.
- 29:47We need to just fix how this is done because they made this deal
- 29:50Friday. They sat on it the whole
- 29:52weekend. Usually a player within 24 hours
- 29:55would be flying to the facility right after the deal because of
- 29:58the timing of this. It happened on Friday.
- 30:00He didn't fly there until after the weekend, so he flies out
- 30:03there not until the beginning of that week.
- 30:06The timing happens. They are allowed the time to sit
- 30:09there and then see that Trey Hendrickson doesn't go in that
- 30:12first wave of free agency. They're able to sit there, see
- 30:16that that happens. Go huh, do we really want to
- 30:18give up to first round picks or do we want to try and just get
- 30:22Trey Hendrickson? We don't have to give up any
- 30:24picks. The difference between
- 30:25Hendrickson and Max Crosby is to them, I'm not saying for me for
- 30:29them is not as big of a gap. And so they don't want to give
- 30:33up the picks and they want to get Trey Hendrickson and
- 30:35potentially and potentially bring in Jadavian Clowney this
- 30:38year and have those two guys on either side and not have to give
- 30:40up their picks. That's what happened.
- 30:42They they cannot they cannot convince anybody otherwise
- 30:46because there's no logic other than that right?
- 30:50And you if Trey Hendrickson, I'd love to have the the exercise
- 30:54where we could see if Trey Hendrickson went very early that
- 30:58they they still do this deal, right or they or there's more
- 31:02money being discussed because Hendrickson was under the
- 31:04impression he was going to play with Max Crosby.
- 31:06That's what he was told. He's come out and said that he
- 31:09has he has he has said on like that is what he was under the
- 31:13communication. So something the math ain't math
- 31:16in right. Some ain't adding up here.
- 31:18And I I think to me this is just a simple they got cold feet.
- 31:23They had more time than normal because of the timing of free
- 31:26agency and the deal getting done on a Friday to sit on it.
- 31:30They chickened out. They didn't want this to be the
- 31:32first thing that they did post John Harbaugh because this was
- 31:36something that they they hadn't done right in that era and they
- 31:40chickened out. And to me, I look at this and I
- 31:42go the perfect player for the Baltimore Ravens was Max Crosby.
- 31:45From a his image to who he is as a football player to the impact
- 31:50that he has. So I like Trey Hendrickson a
- 31:53lot. He's not Max Crosby, he's not
- 31:55Max Rousby. Don't get it twisted.
- 31:58He's a very good football player.
- 31:59He's going to have a great amount of impact.
- 32:01But now you gave the Raiders back a top three pass rusher
- 32:06who's now motivated with another chip on his shoulder.
- 32:08This is a guy who already shows up at 4:30 AM every day to work
- 32:11out as if he needed another reason to prove you guys wrong.
- 32:15I just, this was disrespectful to the player, quite frankly,
- 32:19the way that they handled things, The general manager and
- 32:22the head coach not being there when he arrived at the facility,
- 32:25not being around or available for five hours.
- 32:28I mean, it's it was Bush league and there's no other way around
- 32:31it. It's how everybody in the league
- 32:32is looking at it. And if they struggle to get
- 32:35after the quarterback, oh, it's going to be loud in Baltimore.
- 32:39I like it. It's going to be loud in
- 32:41Baltimore. Loud in Baltimore.
- 32:43I like that southern accent right there, ladies and
- 32:46gentlemen, I But here's the thing.
- 32:48There is a S team that is doing things that are making you shake
- 32:52your head and you know, I'm talking about the Miami
- 32:54Dolphins. I have no idea what the Dolphins
- 32:58are doing right now except the fact is what?
- 33:00Let's suck for Manning because that could be the only thing or
- 33:04the only reason why what they're doing.
- 33:06They gave Waddle. That's what they did.
- 33:08They threw Waddle to the Broncos and said here go win a Super
- 33:12Bowl this year. That's what they did.
- 33:14That's what they did. I mean, think about it.
- 33:16They have the best offensive line.
- 33:18They have a competent good quarterback when healthy.
- 33:21They have a great running game. They got the best defense in the
- 33:24league. You can argue.
- 33:26I mean, they have the best type. They have the best corner in the
- 33:29league. You can argue.
- 33:30I mean, everything at their special teams is good.
- 33:32They have arguably the best offense of mind in the league.
- 33:35And now you add they they cordless Sutton, who's there on
- 33:41one side and now you have Waddle on the other side, speed demon
- 33:45who you can use in so many different packages that Peyton,
- 33:49Sean Payton is like the gifted mind freak.
- 33:52He's like Einstein with a, you know, a pad up his ass.
- 33:55OK, I have no idea. I did.
- 33:57It just doesn't make any sense. And they gave him for nothing.
- 34:00That's what they did. They said, here, take Waddle for
- 34:03us. And we're going to do this.
- 34:04We're going to we're going to pay all these contracts off and
- 34:06we're going to just be bad this year because we want to be the
- 34:09worst teaming NFL. What the hell are the Dolphins
- 34:12doing right now? This is what happens when you
- 34:15sign a quarterback after one year of good play and you owe
- 34:19$99 million of dead cap money. Yes, this is what happens.
- 34:24These are the these are the ramifications of paying to, it's
- 34:28on my law, $67 million this year to not play football for you,
- 34:32$34 million is next year to not play football for you.
- 34:35This is what happens. These are the decisions and the
- 34:37things you got to live with. When you make really bad
- 34:40decisions on the highest paid impact player on your team, it's
- 34:45that's it. They are in a tough spot because
- 34:48financially they made a horrible decision and now they got to
- 34:52live with it. So the reality is the team that
- 34:55was brought in, the head coach and the general manager come
- 34:57from Green Bay, a team that does everything the exact opposite of
- 35:00what Miami has done right. And so they're coming in and
- 35:04they are trying to establish a culture from the ground up.
- 35:08And it's not going to be easy and it's going to require time
- 35:12and patience from another owner who does not have time or
- 35:15patience, Steven Ross. And it's going to require him to
- 35:19actually allow them to clean this up because this is a
- 35:22disaster what they did. You don't you, you can't just
- 35:26pay $100 million out and think that this is going to, you're
- 35:29going to be able to put the same level of play as far as a roster
- 35:32goes against everybody else when you're it just, it's, that's not
- 35:36how this goes. So they had a plan.
- 35:39The plan changed. You were going to stick with
- 35:42McDaniel going into this year, which was weird.
- 35:45The first day comes, he doesn't get fired.
- 35:47Then they think they're going to get John Harbaugh, which is
- 35:50absolutely what happened. They fire Mike McDaniel, OK, And
- 35:54then they have to then scramble because John Harbaugh doesn't
- 35:58leave the building in New York and they don't even get an
- 36:00interview. So this is this is what happens
- 36:04when you don't have good process.
- 36:07They don't have good process. They do not have good process
- 36:10when it comes to how they do things, how they operate and
- 36:14there's not cohesiveness. What they're what Jeff Haffley
- 36:17and company are trying to do now is to make mess out of a
- 36:21disaster, right? They got to they got to clean
- 36:24this mess up. And it's not going to happen
- 36:26this year. It's got to happen over this
- 36:28year, next year. And even the you got to be able
- 36:31to flip this over time. And if the plan is to tank and
- 36:36guess what? If anybody is a team that we
- 36:38know will tank, it's this one because we know.
- 36:42And there you can think that Arch Manning's going to come
- 36:46save you it. I don't care what quarterback it
- 36:48is. Football is a team game.
- 36:51People need to get this out of their heads.
- 36:53It is. There is no such thing as a
- 36:55quarterback coming to save you. That's not how it goes.
- 36:58You need good players across the board at every position, and
- 37:02when your roster sucks, your quarterback's not going to be
- 37:05good. Quarterback, client, come save
- 37:06you. Patrick Mahomes couldn't do
- 37:07anything this year. Why?
- 37:09This team wasn't very good. Team wasn't very good.
- 37:12That's what happens. That's you can't.
- 37:14At some point people got to stop treating this like it's the NBA.
- 37:17It's not the NBA. One player does not impact the
- 37:19team like it's this is a team game and it doesn't matter what
- 37:23quarterback you have. If your process and your system
- 37:25and your coaching sucks, the quarterbacks not going to be
- 37:27very good. And at some point, The Jets and
- 37:30the Dolphins got to figure that out.
- 37:32Oh man, what a shot at The Jets. Be quiet, cute.
- 37:36Be quiet. There.
- 37:38Listen, I want The Jets to be good because having New York be
- 37:42good is a good thing for. Football.
- 37:44It is and and and, but when your owner is as disruptive as what
- 37:48he is, it's very hard. It's very hard.
- 37:51And the only reason that things changed in Chicago is because
- 37:55the old owner passed on, the sun took over, and things started
- 37:59magically turning around. It's not magic.
- 38:01It's called somebody else is at the helm.
- 38:03Like that's yeah. It's like somebody who's
- 38:05competent is running the organization who spent money for
- 38:08the first time ever in free agency.
- 38:10They spent $150 million last year in free agency.
- 38:13They hired a really damn good football coach.
- 38:15They trusted the coach to actually do his thing.
- 38:17And oh, shocker. In my whole life, the Bears have
- 38:20never been good, and now they're good.
- 38:21Why Ownership change. This is not.
- 38:24If you got a bad owner, it's tough, guys, I feel for you
- 38:26because unless we get Woody to go do one of those, you know,
- 38:30things for Trump again in England, it's tough to keep him
- 38:33from being let's. Send them.
- 38:34Let's send them to Iran right now, I think.
- 38:36That I'm all for it. Let's do it.
- 38:40I'll do it. I'll ship them over there.
- 38:42Woody's got all the money. I'll help.
- 38:44I'll go, I'll split the bill with you to ship his ass.
- 38:51I was going to finish up with the Bears.
- 38:52You kind of get into having their best season in quite a
- 38:55while. With Ben Johnson.
- 38:57Highly profile, as highly profile as a coaching candidate
- 39:00as you get. They make the playoffs.
- 39:01Obviously that big win against the Packers, kind of really
- 39:04getting them to win the division.
- 39:05They beat them in the playoffs after that before losing a tight
- 39:07one of the Rams. They trade DJ more in the
- 39:09offseason, but again, they have other good receivers, good skill
- 39:11players there. I was thinking they were going
- 39:13to go after an edge rusher. What are your thoughts on the
- 39:15whole Bear season to the whole and the offseason strategy for
- 39:17them? It feels weird to watch
- 39:21highlights and see the NFL posting positive videos about
- 39:25your team. Literally right.
- 39:27Sort of like when when you've grown up and literally covered
- 39:30and watched this team my whole life.
- 39:31My dad was the season ticket holder and grew up going to the
- 39:33games and now 50 like of the top 10 plays of the year for the
- 39:38NFL, five of them were Bears offensive plays.
- 39:41Are you joking? Like I'm like what is happening
- 39:43right? It's like you almost have to
- 39:45pinch yourself to go. Did this really happen?
- 39:47Did they really actually Green Bay twice in one month like that
- 39:50can't that that can't actually be possible, right?
- 39:53And it did happen. And like we talked about a
- 39:55little a little bit with the ownership change.
- 39:57The reality is Ben Johnson is a culture changer and he sat he
- 40:01had opportunities to leave the year before.
- 40:03He didn't leave right. They kept him in Detroit an
- 40:05extra year even when he had opportunities to go, he sat
- 40:09back. He created a plan and he didn't
- 40:11go interview for every job. He evaluated which jobs he was
- 40:15interested in taking, where he could come in and actually.
- 40:18They do the things he deemed necessary to change and have
- 40:21success in the league. And one of the things about Ben
- 40:25that I probably respect more than anything is that he's
- 40:28earned everything he has. He's taking shots at everybody
- 40:31else. Like, yeah, my last name didn't
- 40:33get me here because he's not a Lefleur.
- 40:35He's not a Shanahan, He's not a McVeigh.
- 40:38He didn't grow up in this league.
- 40:39His grandpa didn't coach. His dad didn't coach in the NFL.
- 40:42Like he earned his way into this position.
- 40:45He's he was around the right coaches in his time in the
- 40:49league and everybody that you talk to, whether it's the
- 40:53janitor staff or the players on the team, says that that dude is
- 40:58the one. And that to me tells you a lot.
- 41:01He's brought back the rivalry. People that were bitching about
- 41:04us talking shit to Green Bay. You don't belong in football.
- 41:08This is what football is. Football is great when rivalries
- 41:12are great. I don't want Green Bay to get
- 41:14along with Chicago. I love that they hate each
- 41:17other. It's amazing for the sport.
- 41:19Who wants your cat? What if I saw and I did?
- 41:23Matt Eberflu sat courtside with Matt Lafleur to Bucks game and
- 41:26it made my stomach turn. I went, what in the hell is my
- 41:30head coach doing? Fraternizing with the green,
- 41:33with the enemy? That's how it felt.
- 41:35Oh, yeah, Ben Johnson said. No, I don't.
- 41:37I don't want to make friends in the NFL.
- 41:38And I feel that energy. That's Chicago.
- 41:40We friends with you. You go stay up in Green Bay.
- 41:43We don't want. No, no, no, we're good.
- 41:45We'll stay here in Chicago. We don't want to be friends with
- 41:47y'all. And that's to me, that's good
- 41:49for sports, man. Like sports is about great
- 41:51rivalries and society's become soft and football has has
- 41:55magically stayed kind of separate of that.
- 41:58And I hope that football just continues to be football because
- 42:01it's the best when the rivalries are the best.
- 42:03I love McVeigh and Shanahan literally talking shit to each
- 42:06other at NFL owners meetings. That's great.
- 42:08They don't like each other. I don't want them to like each
- 42:10other. They shouldn't like each other.
- 42:12You're competitors. You can respect each other
- 42:14without liking each other. And to me, this is the I could
- 42:19watch this on a loop forever. This is like bring me more joy
- 42:23than anything that's ever happened, right?
- 42:25Because I just like, yeah. See you later, Lafleur.
- 42:27Yeah, we're good. Bye.
- 42:28Bye, Green Bay. So the, whether it's the
- 42:30speeches or just his demeanor and how he handles things this
- 42:34bear season, I could talk forever about because it was
- 42:37one, one for the ages. She's a wolf.
- 42:39She's a wolf, ladies. And gentlemen, an absolute wolf
- 42:44God Speedy. Good speedy.
- 42:45Let's hear you. Sounds like a little panda bear.
- 42:50All right. Cute, Yeah.
- 42:52So I'm going to circle. Back to the draft in closing and
- 42:55whatnot, tell us a memorable moment that you've had.
- 42:58I've seen that you share some moments with prospects and
- 43:01whatnot. What is the most memorable
- 43:03moment you've had in the draft? This is a easy one for me.
- 43:07A couple draft cycles ago, Kansas City, I'm backstage with
- 43:11Panini, the trading card company, doing interviews with
- 43:13the players, and Jaylen Carter gets drafted and comes backstage
- 43:19and Jaylen Carter is a monster atrocity of a human being.
- 43:23OK, just, I mean just. This.
- 43:25Absolute specimen. And he comes walking off stage
- 43:30with tears in his eyes and just falls on like literally hug,
- 43:35hug, bear hugs me. And I'm like, I'm going to fall,
- 43:38I'm going to fall, I'm going to fall.
- 43:39I'm going to this is it. This is how my life ends.
- 43:42Like, Oh my God. But this like the stress and the
- 43:46pressure of everything that happens during the draft
- 43:50process. It was that release of emotion
- 43:53of like it was worth. You know, it's over, right?
- 43:56Like I had all the and it's, it happens every year.
- 43:59Every year I talk to talk to kids.
- 44:01That's why I love the draft. It's literally watching players
- 44:04lifelong goal dream to change their family, their lives happen
- 44:10and there's so much work that goes into making that happen.
- 44:14These players are scrutinized at A at a level that makes me so
- 44:19uncomfortable. I mean everything they do a
- 44:22non-stop with social media. And I look at these coaches as
- 44:25if these guys were choir boys and perfect when they were back
- 44:28then, right? And I'm like, y'all lucky I
- 44:30didn't have cell phones. Y'all would have been cancelled
- 44:3220 years ago. OK, and and that's and that's
- 44:34the thing. So to me, there's a great,
- 44:36there's a great moment every year, but I will never forget
- 44:39that because Jalen Carter is such a large and large angry
- 44:43human being on the football field.
- 44:45What a sweet kid. And what a great moment he and I
- 44:48shared. And we had a great interview
- 44:49after that. So I'll never forget it.
- 44:51Never forget it. Well, I got to say something,
- 44:53Paige. We, I've interviewed a lot of
- 44:56people over the years. You, as far as your personality,
- 45:00you know, football and you have such a like a, you know, you,
- 45:04you can, you catch it and every, every, every personality trait
- 45:08that you have speaking on a mic. There are a lot of people that
- 45:12are not good at this. They're not, I've interviewed a
- 45:13lot of analysts that say they're good, They have a huge following
- 45:17and they're just really, really bad.
- 45:19Really, really, really bad. You are just you bright up the
- 45:24conversation. You know what you're talking
- 45:26about. And you're funny too.
- 45:28And you don't beat around the Bush.
- 45:30You just smack everybody out of the way.
- 45:32So I think you're great. Thank you.
- 45:35Thank you. I'm.
- 45:36I'm Greek. And from Chicago, there's no
- 45:38like, if you know, if you know from Chicago, we don't be with
- 45:41me. That's that's how it goes.
- 45:43That's how it. Goes man, we don't.
- 45:45If you want to get a word in at the table at my house, you
- 45:47better be able to speak up. Speak your mind.
- 45:49That's it, That's it. Chicago.
- 45:52Chicago. But you're fantastic I.
- 45:56I love what you do. I was checking out your stuff
- 45:58today and Nif and I got to give a shout out to the old nif
- 46:01because he got you on the show. The old man over there, The the

- 47:42Absolutely, Paige, I love you. Thank.
- 47:44You good work. Bye.
- 47:45Guys, Paige Demacos. Ladies and gentlemen, she's
- 47:48fantastic, beautiful. She really is a beautiful woman
- 47:53and she knows her football. You can't beat around the Bush,
- 47:55and you beat around the Bush all the time.
- 47:57You need to shave that Bush. Anyways.
- 47:59Ladies and gentlemen, we call this beef.
- 48:06I'm a nut, I'm a nut. Do you know what beef?
- 48:10Is do you know what beef is? I fight you both together if you
- 48:17want. I fight you What?
- 48:171 poor time behind my back. I fight you.
- 48:19Stand on my foot. I fight you.
- 48:21What? My eyes close.
- 48:23What? Are you scared?
- 48:24Watch your mouth. I see you.
- 48:27Guaranteed to be. And I'll see you one more time.
- 48:32All right, ladies and gentlemen. Gino Ariama and Dawn Staley have
- 48:38been going back and forth. They were in the final four.
- 48:42We all know what happened. Let's hit it.
- 48:45All right, so I have 3 videos for TO.
- 48:46Start for this one, we'll start with the initial altercation,
- 48:49then Gino's response, and then Dawn's.
- 48:51Here we go. The players now Dawn and Gino
- 48:55getting into it a little bit on the sideline as Gino has to be
- 48:59held back final on Sunday afternoon.
- 49:14All right. And now Gina responds with this.
- 49:17Coaching and I've been, I don't know. 3025 Final Fours and the
- 49:21protocol is before the game you meet that half court.
- 49:24Anybody ever see that before 2 coaches meet at half court and
- 49:27they shake hands, Correct. There we see it.
- 49:31They announce it on the on the loudspeaker and I waited there
- 49:35for like 3 minutes. So it is what it is.
- 49:41You know, he he's the one that. Is initiated the the
- 49:45conversation. I, I, I don't want you know what
- 49:48happened there to dampen what we were able to accomplish today.
- 49:56All right, So I like Gino. He's an older.
- 50:00He's like a college professor. He knows college basketball,
- 50:04especially woman's basketball, better than anybody.
- 50:07I mean, how many national championships, How many Final
- 50:09Fours, how many championships has this man gone to?
- 50:13Dawn Staley was going to be interviewed by the New York
- 50:16Knicks to take the New York Knicks job when it was available
- 50:19this offseason. She was actually being thought
- 50:23of as a person the Knicks were going to hire.
- 50:27First woman head coach in NBA history.
- 50:30That's the truth. Dawn Staley was a Leon.
- 50:33Leon Rose is very close with Dawn Staley.
- 50:35I've heard a lot of stories about her.
- 50:37She's got a very strong personality.
- 50:38She doesn't give a crap if you're a man or a woman.
- 50:41She'll smack you silly. She'll beat you to a living
- 50:43pulp. That's the type of woman she is.
- 50:47I respect that, I really do. I thought, why would Gino be
- 50:51making this up? He's not wrong.
- 50:53Before the game, it doesn't matter if you hate somebody or
- 50:56not. In the NBA and the NCAA, where
- 50:58do these guys meet? They meet in the middle of the
- 51:00court, they talk, they interact, they say hey, how you doing,
- 51:05blah, blah, blah, blah. What a great run you're having.
- 51:07Dah dah, dah dah dah, Gino. Ariemma come out there and
- 51:11saying after the game, that's what you do.
- 51:13And she didn't do that. And at the end of the game, he
- 51:17probably, he was very upset. UConn was the favorite.
- 51:20They were the best team in the nation.
- 51:22They haven't lost the game. And they get shocked by South
- 51:24Carolina. I mean, absolutely shocked,
- 51:27Okay. And he's pissed off.
- 51:29So he goes up to her and he probably approached her and
- 51:33said, whoa, normal people would go up at the, you know, before
- 51:37the game and interact with it. What what the hell are you
- 51:39doing? What What what kind of are you
- 51:40better than me? Do you think you're better than
- 51:42me? And and Dawn Staley says we won.
- 51:45I don't give a crap. We're the ones moving on.
- 51:47You're not. Oh, well, sayonara, go play
- 51:49golf. I don't give a crap.
- 51:51And and if I was Gino, I would be pissed too.
- 51:54Now, Gino did come out and apologize to the NCAA and Dawn
- 51:59Staley for the way he acted. It wasn't professional the way
- 52:02he reacted. She's a woman, he's a man.
- 52:05But I've never seen Gino get that angry.
- 52:08We've seen him lose big games. We've seen him get upset about
- 52:12certain athletes, players or even coaches in the past.
- 52:16He's never gone out there after the game and spoke to the media
- 52:20and just throw the the coach under the bus like Dawn Staley.
- 52:23Dawn Staley, she can, she looks very nasty.
- 52:26I, I personally didn't, but did anybody watch the video after
- 52:30after that fact? All that mishap happened on the
- 52:32back on the court. She went into the backroom.
- 52:34She says they're done, they're done.
- 52:36She's dancing over there. She's doing her little jumping
- 52:40around, doing all that stupid crap.
- 52:42We saw it. We we spoke about Ben Johnson.
- 52:44We saw what they did against the Green Bay Packers after the fact
- 52:48FF the the Green Bay Packers. But that's that's to me is
- 52:53that's the NFL. That's about just what do you
- 52:56call that? Just competitive feature
- 52:58rivalry? No, but South.
- 53:00Carolina and Yukon are not rivalries.
- 53:02They really are in the in the recent history feature.
- 53:05But they're not. They're not.
- 53:06Yukon is. One of the most successful
- 53:09basketball programs overall, but in the near.
- 53:11In the nearest. Feature they have.
- 53:13Do you really think that, Gino? Ariama gives a crap what Dawn
- 53:16Staley thinks about he do, that's the reason why he said.
- 53:19No, he didn't. He was upset.
- 53:22That Dawn Staley didn't meet in the court, in front of the
- 53:25court. It doesn't matter if you don't
- 53:26like somebody. You do.
- 53:27You're a professional. You're a professional coach.
- 53:30You're making millions of dollars.
- 53:32You're coaching a college women's basketball team.
- 53:35You made it to the Final Four. Gino Ariana is one of the more
- 53:38respected head coaches in college basketball history.
- 53:42The first thing you're doing is at least going to the middle of
- 53:45the court and having a conversation.
- 53:46Congratulations on such a great not going out after the game and
- 53:51like pretty much mocking him after he came out and he was
- 53:55upset. Just be professional about it.
- 53:57Be professional, professional about it.
- 53:59What if she forgot? What if she didn't make so I.
- 54:03Mean this guy. This giant, he knows somebody
- 54:07didn't meet him at half court and say hey, you did a good job
- 54:10this season. Wow, this guy is so pissed off.
- 54:13Stand on it. Why I apologize?
- 54:15First of all, he's still pissed off because he never said Don
- 54:18name it, apologize. I apologize to the staff.
- 54:20So he was still carried out by that.
- 54:22So he was a coward. Not apologize.
- 54:25I don't. I do not.
- 54:26Believe he coward. Out.
- 54:28How do you call that being a coward?
- 54:30Apologize. Did George Staley?
- 54:33First of all, hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on.
- 54:35Hold on, did Dawn Staley at all apologize for what she did?
- 54:40What did she do? She did somebody hit you and
- 54:43then you like, oh. Now we need you need to
- 54:45apologize because you got absolutely you're professional.
- 54:48What you're doing, how life works.
- 54:50You know, put somebody did the person to get put say, oh, yeah,
- 54:53my fault for fighting back and protecting myself.
- 54:56Let me apologize. Really.
- 54:57That's not how this works. Really.
- 54:58So you're telling me that what she did?
- 55:00It was OK, it was fine for her to be unprofessional and then
- 55:04mocking UConn after the fact that they beat him, right?
- 55:07Mocking. That's what you're supposed to
- 55:09do out. There.
- 55:09No, you're not. You're supposed to be a
- 55:11professional. Why wouldn't you?
- 55:12Gino Ariama didn't go out there and.
- 55:14Gino Ariama, Gino Ariama I've never seen go out there and and
- 55:19just attack organization programs that he's never liked.
- 55:23I've never seen him do that. Oh, we won.
- 55:25Oh, blah, blah, blah. He's such a sore loser.
- 55:28Dawn Staley is she's a ruthless, you know what?
- 55:32She's ruthless. And, and here's another thing,
- 55:35and I'll say this, I don't know if we call this beef because I,
- 55:38I don't think Gino Ariema really hates Dawn.
- 55:41I think Dawn Staley hates everybody.
- 55:43How in the she? How are you?
- 55:46Perceiving that he don't hate dogs and he did what he did
- 55:49because the man has never done it and he didn't.
- 55:51Even connect me to apology. When did you see Gino ever do
- 55:54something? Like this?
- 55:56Have you ever seen No day before yesterday?
- 55:58I'm asking you in his. Whole career and.
- 56:00He's been around for a very long time.
- 56:01Have you ever? And Gino has and we've heard
- 56:03stories that Gino doesn't like this coach doesn't like.
- 56:06Have you ever seen Gino go out there and, and, and take shots
- 56:09in the media at somebody you know?
- 56:12But I've seen his body language change when.
- 56:13He plays USC fish. We're not talking about the
- 56:16other team. On the other side, I'm talking
- 56:17about when you're playing another coach.
- 56:20We're not talking about what Danny Hurley and Gino Ariana,
- 56:24we're not talking about it. We're talking about when we're
- 56:26talking about a coach to another coach playing on the same coach,
- 56:30coach court, playing against one another, We're not talking about
- 56:33That's the problem with you, Fish.
- 56:35You bring up things that have nothing to do with particular
- 56:39coaching when you're on the best.
- 56:41Danny Hurley No, it doesn't, Danny.
- 56:44What it is, Danny? Earle, just like Don Staley, she
- 56:48rants and raves and officials just like him.
- 56:50Gino hates that she does it and gets away with it and that's why
- 56:54they have a culture clash. She's been yelling at her for
- 56:56four years, since 2023, because he doesn't like how she carries
- 57:02herself as a coach. And would you level and would
- 57:04you? Yes.
- 57:06What's? Wrong with it.
- 57:08I think it's just a culture clash to be honest.
- 57:09With you, like he's the old guard, obviously he's the legend
- 57:13and she's obviously a legend in her own right, but she's cutting
- 57:17your school style. But I and doesn't like how she
- 57:20messed it up too. Like she's doing like 90s Nicks,
- 57:23like physical basketball, you know?
- 57:25And he doesn't like that because he doesn't want his star players
- 57:28to get hurt. It's like 2 very opposite guys.
- 57:31I love that we have that in women's college basketball.
- 57:35We don't have Caitlin Clark there right now.
- 57:36We don't have Page Becker's there right now.
- 57:38We have this hatred which is kind of like raise the
- 57:41tournament a level even though neither one of them won.
- 57:44Yes, and that was the other big thing that came out with.
- 57:46John won. She beat.
- 57:47She beat Gina well. She she won, Yeah, she won in
- 57:49that game. And she's won a couple of
- 57:51national championships as well. And Q, you're right, in this
- 57:53modern era, like I would say A7 year peak, she won two national
- 57:57championships. 3/3 here we. Go and and.
- 58:00Gino and how many did? Ariana win.
- 58:02No, he's more accomplished. I'm saying right now, how many?
- 58:04Did he win? How many times has he dominated?
- 58:07How many great players has his man?
- 58:09How many how many great coach? How many great players has he
- 58:12coached? How many great players have gone
- 58:14to the WNBA? Hold on.
- 58:15Q How many play. When you look at what Gino
- 58:17Ariana has done, he's transitioned.
- 58:19He's made college women's college basketball what it is
- 58:22today. If it wasn't for Gino, there
- 58:25wouldn't be a dawn Staley, there wouldn't be an accomplishment.
- 58:28Yes it yes I can You can't say that college basketball is not
- 58:32the college basketball without changed the.
- 58:34Game. Was he transcending 100% and
- 58:37I'll be all oh really, really this I do.
- 58:40Want to mention too what you were.
- 58:41Saying with the the ref discrepancies in the past too.
- 58:43There's another thing that he Gino was saying as well about a
- 58:46double standard of refereeing. Got on the refs pretty heavily
- 58:50and it looked like you. Came over and kind of yell asked
- 58:53if she's allowed to talk to them like that.
- 58:55I'm wondering if that fed into your frustration at the end of
- 58:58the game at all. I just want to make sure there's
- 59:02not a double. Standard.
- 59:06I'm of the opinion that if I ever talk to an.
- 59:07Official like that I would get tossed.
- 59:10He's not wrong. So he's not wrong, I just want
- 59:14to make sure there's not a double standard.
- 59:15He's like, he's not wrong. People are allowed to talk.
- 59:17To officials like that. Really.
- 59:19And other people are not. Whenever you ever heard Gino.
- 59:22Ariama go out and go after a college references their mind
- 59:26every now and. Then you'll never see this man
- 59:29do. That he never does that, it's a
- 59:32rarity. Do you see Gino Ariama go after?
- 59:35Me rarely didn't do it, he doesn't.
- 59:37He doesn't really do it every. Time you come to him, he
- 59:40wouldn't say he. Does it?
- 59:41He never does it, Yes or no? He Has he done it before?
- 59:46Probably. Once or twice, But he doesn't do
- 59:48it like Dawn Staley does. Dawn Staley does all the time.
- 59:52That's her style, yelling. Yelling just like.
- 59:55Draymond Green in the NBA. Understand that he's going to
- 59:58highlight the reference. They understand that it's their
- 1:00:01style. Now, can anybody else in the
- 1:00:03league do the same thing that Draymond getting away with?
- 1:00:05No, but they understand. They adapt and adjust to players
- 1:00:09and coaches. That's what happens in the
- 1:00:11league. That's what happens in in
- 1:00:12basketball. That's happened in sports.
- 1:00:14Certain people get away with certain stuff based off the
- 1:00:17pedigree and and who they are. You have to.
- 1:00:20You have to. I admit that Gino has not been
- 1:00:22this Angel that you're trying to paint him up.
- 1:00:23Nobody said he's an Angel, but every time we.
- 1:00:26Tell you something he do Hold on, I let.
- 1:00:27You speak. Now it's my turn to speak.
- 1:00:29Hold on, Dawn Staley does it more than every single, every
- 1:00:33single game. Every single.
- 1:00:34Even if it's a, a regular season game, you see Dawn Staley
- 1:00:37running on the court yelling at the referees.
- 1:00:39She does it all the time. Gino does not do it every single
- 1:00:42time. And then you bring up, you bring
- 1:00:44in bring up Draymond Green or any of these guys, Brooks, they
- 1:00:47all do it and that's great. Their NBA players won #2 they
- 1:00:51don't get away with it. Draymond Greek gets more
- 1:00:53flagrance and more technical fouls than any player in NBA
- 1:00:56history. To say that he could.
- 1:00:57They get away with it is ridiculous.
- 1:00:59They also make millions and millions of dollars.
- 1:01:01When college players don't make that kind of money, they're
- 1:01:03getting NIL deals. Yeah, but they're not making
- 1:01:05anywhere close to that kind of money.
- 1:01:07So these guys. And by the way, the NBA is run
- 1:01:10by the players. College basketball is not run by
- 1:01:13the player. Who is it?
- 1:01:14It's run by the. Program and it's over with.
- 1:01:17NIL's transfer. Report to let you know that it's
- 1:01:19ran by the player. That does not mean that what?
- 1:01:22About it does not mean well. Also, that might not exist.
- 1:01:26Anymore because the president signed the executive order
- 1:01:29saying you can only transfer one time, I don't think.
- 1:01:32That has nothing to do with it but I.
- 1:01:33Think this whole transfer portal thing is one of those short
- 1:01:37experiments in history that we're going to talk about.
- 1:01:40Like, Can you believe when this was happening?
- 1:01:42No, I think it's the new day. It's the new.
- 1:01:44Age. I think everybody hates it
- 1:01:46because it goes against. What do you really think though?
- 1:01:48Do you really? Think the powers that be are
- 1:01:51going to allow this to continue on?
- 1:01:53They still win. They still win on the.
- 1:01:55Back end, there's no losing for them when you sign your NIDL
- 1:01:59contract. It's a part of the school.
- 1:02:01Get a cut too. Everybody's still getting a cut.
- 1:02:03That the only reason it's in play because the NCAA didn't
- 1:02:06want to pay their bills. They will pay that penalty.
- 1:02:08I hear you. I just feel like the NC double.
- 1:02:10A doesn't like a 5050 cut, they like a 9010 cut.
- 1:02:13And they wanted. They're gonna.
- 1:02:16Continue to sit out and and do all this.
- 1:02:17They they get more money now. I hope you're right.
- 1:02:20I don't like it. And I agree.
- 1:02:22With Gino I I I don't like more government like you love all.
- 1:02:26That no, I do not. He he, no, he said that.
- 1:02:29That's a whole. Different discussion for a
- 1:02:31different show, but my man like here likes socialist economics
- 1:02:35and no he does he lows salary caps.
- 1:02:38I'm just saying. I'm just saying I.
- 1:02:41Do I? I think that.
- 1:02:43Professional sports shouldn't be.
- 1:02:44These guys should not be overpaid more than they should
- 1:02:47be paid. I, I believe that the MLB needs
- 1:02:50to have a salary cap. It's ruining baseball.
- 1:02:53As we see what the deferred money that the Dodgers are
- 1:02:55doing, they're ruining the game of baseball.
- 1:02:57It is hurting the game of baseball.
- 1:02:59We had Jabba Chamberlain. I would have never thought Jabba
- 1:03:02Chamberlain shut the music off. I, I would have never thought
- 1:03:06that Jabba Chamberlain would actually come back and agree
- 1:03:10with me on this that baseball needs to do something about the
- 1:03:13cap and everything after what's going on with the Dodgers,
- 1:03:16They're ruining the game. So yeah, with, with the new CBA
- 1:03:19and the new contracts and, and, and the players union, I, I
- 1:03:23think that the ownership and the Commission needs to step in and
- 1:03:26argue that point at the end of the baseball season this year.
- 1:03:30Hey, when did Java say that while he.
- 1:03:31Was in the league or post post retirement.
- 1:03:34Well, he he's a part of the. Union so he's but when did he
- 1:03:38say it yes, that's. Not it always.
- 1:03:40He's still the old guys. College players.
- 1:03:43Were getting paid now yeah, back in my day I won't get this type
- 1:03:46of money and I had to do this and I didn't do that and they
- 1:03:48solved and they ain't responsible at all they said no,
- 1:03:51you're just jealous that's OK just say I don't like the fact
- 1:03:54that they're making more money I don't think it was jealous
- 1:03:56because. Jabba never, never say that.
- 1:03:59Why? He's an active player.
- 1:04:00Jabba never agreed to it. Until the fact that this was
- 1:04:03going on and it was getting worse.
- 1:04:05He always stuck up. I've been, I was working with
- 1:04:08Jabba for a year and a half and he was arguing all the time
- 1:04:11about it. And then all of a sudden, out of
- 1:04:13the blue, he agreed with me. Come on.
- 1:04:15He agreed with me because he saw what was going on.
- 1:04:18And, and obviously the emotional thing that's going on in
- 1:04:22baseball is, hey, the Dodgers can buy their way out.
- 1:04:24They can do whatever they want. They can get money and pay these
- 1:04:27guys 20 years from now, as long as they're winning, it doesn't
- 1:04:30matter. So it's unfortunate and I think
- 1:04:33baseball's going to step in. It's going to it's going to
- 1:04:35change. Let me know what Jabba?
- 1:04:37Negotiated down on this contract.
- 1:04:39This has nothing to do without having to negotiate.
- 1:04:41No, you know what? You.
- 1:04:42Need more money so I'm going to give you 10% of what I'm making.
- 1:04:46I I could see everyone being haters like.
- 1:04:48Think about Reggie Bush for a second.
- 1:04:50The guy had to give back his Heisman Trophy.
- 1:04:52Why? Because he was driving around a
- 1:04:54Chevy Impala that he didn't pay for.
- 1:04:57It was a Chevy, a nice Chevy Impala, but it was a Chevy
- 1:05:00Impala. I mean, I'm sure you got some
- 1:05:02other stuff too. What are we talking about here?
- 1:05:05Like that's how it was back in the day.
- 1:05:07I vote first of all I if, if. Anybody listen to this show 10
- 1:05:10years ago? I always stuck up that NIL money
- 1:05:14should be going to the players. I was one of the first speedy.
- 1:05:17Am I not right? I've been saying what's the
- 1:05:19argument there? My argument is my argument to
- 1:05:23give it back my my argument isn't fighting NIL deals.
- 1:05:27My money is my, my, my argument is my money is my argument is.
- 1:05:31And that's because everybody's keeps cutting in and talking
- 1:05:34over me. I can't even think my, my
- 1:05:37argument here is it's not the NIL deals.
- 1:05:41And I don't even care that these players are making the kind of
- 1:05:43money, even though it's going to stop, there's going to have to
- 1:05:45be a cut off point because it's not working for college
- 1:05:49football, baseball, hockey, all of it.
- 1:05:51It's not going to work. What I my argument here is, is
- 1:05:55that when you look at from the Dawn, from the Dawn Staley thing
- 1:05:59and the Geno Ariama thing, when you look at 2 coaches very well
- 1:06:03respected and one coach, one coach comes out there and says,
- 1:06:06hey, respect or no respect, you go out there and you respect
- 1:06:10that other coach. You go out to the middle of the
- 1:06:12court and you respect one another.
- 1:06:14That's the way you go. Now what he thinks of her
- 1:06:17personally, I don't care. I really don't, but he's not
- 1:06:21wrong. And Dawn Staley going out after
- 1:06:23the game, no. Dawn Staley going out at the.
- 1:06:26End of the game and not a apologizing for what she did.
- 1:06:29I mean that was disrespectful. At least he went out and he was
- 1:06:32a man about it. She will not apologize for what
- 1:06:35she did. I think she do.
- 1:06:37What do you mean? Go shake your hand postgame.
- 1:06:40Did you mad about something happened pregame?
- 1:06:42Did she? And she supposed to come out and
- 1:06:44say, hey, did she really go out there to shake his hand?
- 1:06:46Let me have a. Moment I'll let you talk right.
- 1:06:48All right, so no, you didn't listen.
- 1:06:50I did. Listen, So what I'm.
- 1:06:52Telling you is that she went postgame and Ashley shake his
- 1:06:55hand and congratulate him on the this season or whatnot.
- 1:06:58He brings up something that happened pregame, gets mad, say
- 1:07:02what he had to say and then she's supposed to come out with
- 1:07:05a public apology about what she did initiate it.
- 1:07:09He threw the first punch. She responded like, hey, you're
- 1:07:12not going to talk to me this type of way and move forward.
- 1:07:15Then we get to the press conference and she like, hey,
- 1:07:17talk to him about what happened. I don't know.
- 1:07:19I was blindsided. He came up yelling and screaming
- 1:07:22at me. I responded but ask him what's
- 1:07:24happening. I won the game.
- 1:07:25I beat him by 20 and that's what matters as a professional.
- 1:07:29Knowing what? Happened on the court after the
- 1:07:32fact, 24 hours later, Geno Ariema went out there, spoke to
- 1:07:37the media and apologized. The way he acted when Stanley
- 1:07:40went out to the backroom and the way she acted to the media and
- 1:07:43the way she spoke to the media, it made it seem like she did
- 1:07:47nothing wrong. She was blindsided.
- 1:07:49Meanwhile, she knew what she did.
- 1:07:51She knew exactly what she did, but she blew it out.
- 1:07:55Oh, he's blowing it out of proportion, really.
- 1:07:57Because to me, as a professional, and you're a
- 1:08:00coach, you're making a lot of money.
- 1:08:02You're coaching young women. That's what you're doing.
- 1:08:05And you want to make a statement.
- 1:08:06You want to be respected as a coach, You don't do that.
- 1:08:11Danny Hurley, for all the things that he's done, and he's done
- 1:08:14some really ridiculous stuff. He really has.
- 1:08:17When Danny Hurley's wrong, he goes out there and he
- 1:08:19apologizes. He apologizes.
- 1:08:21What he does, he just says, listen, I I get too caught up.
- 1:08:25I get caught too caught into it. Have you ever seen Danny Hurley
- 1:08:28not go into the middle of a court during the game or before
- 1:08:31the game, not, you know, having a conversation with another
- 1:08:34coach? I'm going to tell you this right
- 1:08:35now. He always does it.
- 1:08:36I've never seen Danny Hurley not do it, even if he hates
- 1:08:39something. And by the way, Danny Hurley has
- 1:08:41gone out there many, many times telling him I don't like this
- 1:08:45guy, I don't like that guy, I don't like this guy, I don't
- 1:08:47like that guy. I'm the best, I'm the best, I'm
- 1:08:49the best. And he still goes out there and
- 1:08:51respects the other person when he goes out to the middle of the
- 1:08:54basketball court. He did it tonight, too, against
- 1:08:56Michigan, by the way, who comes up?
- 1:08:58Yeah. Quick question, Should the.
- 1:09:00Referee apologize to Dan Hurley for him getting in his face
- 1:09:03should a referee should the. Referee because Dan Hurley got
- 1:09:06into. His face no should the referee
- 1:09:08but Danny Hurley. Actually, a public referee make
- 1:09:10a public apology but. He did.
- 1:09:12Danny Hurley apologized for whatever.
- 1:09:13Referee not not Dan. Hurley, the referee, Yeah, the
- 1:09:16referee did, and Danny Hurley said.
- 1:09:18You know. I shouldn't have done it that
- 1:09:19way after you answered the question, you'd be a politician.
- 1:09:22Oh, that's the same thing that happened with Gino.
- 1:09:24And no, it's not the same. You may not like.
- 1:09:26Her celebrating? You may not like her antics on
- 1:09:29backstage, you may not like her talking to the referees or
- 1:09:31whatever, but she went out there, shake his hand and he
- 1:09:35brought up something that happened an hour ago.
- 1:09:38OK. And that's the that's the bottom
- 1:09:40line. So she don't owe him an apology
- 1:09:42because he wouldn't act up because he got beat by a 20.
- 1:09:45He made an apology. And you know why he made the
- 1:09:48apology, why he didn't use her name is because the school
- 1:09:51forced him to make the apology because it was bad press.
- 1:09:54It was bad media. Somebody from the higher up
- 1:09:56called in and said, hey, you need to apologize publicly, not
- 1:09:59only because it's bad press, but because you're a man attacking a
- 1:10:02woman on live TV. That was the reason why he made
- 1:10:04the apology. That's not not because Gino
- 1:10:06wanted to make the apology. How do you know that?
- 1:10:08Are you hanging out? Are you the?
- 1:10:09Fly in the room telling him that are you?
- 1:10:12Are you in the I don't listen you?
- 1:10:14No, he thought about it. He's got a wife maybe.
- 1:10:17He's sitting down with his wife and he's having a conversation
- 1:10:19with his wife, eating some porridge or whatever the hell he
- 1:10:21eats. Some soup, some chicken, Yeah,
- 1:10:23whatever. Little bit, whatever.
- 1:10:25Probably. I don't know.
- 1:10:27The fact here is to me, Gino A, he went out there and he did the
- 1:10:32right thing. But you know what, if if I was
- 1:10:35Dawn and I'm trying to prove my point and I'm, I'm a woman, I'm
- 1:10:39going out there and I'm doing the same thing.
- 1:10:41I want to show the young ladies that I'm coaching that I'm going
- 1:10:44to go out there and I'm going to be professional.
- 1:10:46And I'm going to say, listen, maybe I acted wrong.
- 1:10:48Maybe I did something wrong. Maybe I wasn't professional with
- 1:10:50this. That's I apologize for not doing
- 1:10:54the right thing. That's the way I would have
- 1:10:55reacted to it. And any coach would do that.
- 1:10:58Any coach would do that. If you're trying to make a
- 1:11:00statement, that's what personalism is about.
- 1:11:04It's called respect. It's called.
- 1:11:07Respect. You comparing your.
- 1:11:08Unprofessional. You're comparing you comparing A
- 1:11:11referee situation with Danny Hurley had nothing to do with
- 1:11:15Dawn Staley and you know Eric. No, it's not.
- 1:11:19It's 2. Coaches and a referee.
- 1:11:21They wanted behavior. Danny Hurley, woman, he was
- 1:11:25happy. Danny Hurley won, he was happy
- 1:11:28and Gino lost. But either way, the referee it
- 1:11:32makes she did not deserve the hate she.
- 1:11:34Did not. Deserve to be in the face,
- 1:11:35you're out because if he won or not, referee didn't deserve
- 1:11:39that. The referee doesn't play for
- 1:11:41you. I disagree.
- 1:11:42Speedy makes a great. Point here in the.
- 1:11:44Comments Speedy, why don't you say that one out?
- 1:11:46Thank you. I was going to ask you this
- 1:11:47should I can't. I can't.
- 1:11:48And can Polly apologize for Gino's?
- 1:11:50I can't. Should.
- 1:11:51Apologize if Gino's still for getting his jaw broken.
- 1:11:55You are on drugs breaking his jaw, but.
- 1:11:57In this situation, it would be. Tito apologizing AK because he
- 1:12:00actually was a different so Gino should say hey sorry for
- 1:12:05allowing you to break my jaw. It's a good example though,
- 1:12:08because you. Know Dawn Staley got in under
- 1:12:10his skin. Whatever she said did quietly.
- 1:12:13Whatever it was she got under his skin.
- 1:12:16Gino clearly got under eye cake and follow the skate in that
- 1:12:20situation too, right? So I think that's a great comp
- 1:12:23right there. I don't know exactly who should
- 1:12:26apologize to who. I think it may have impacted the
- 1:12:30championship game because they didn't show up.
- 1:12:32They couldn't shoot for shit. South Carolina got waxed in that
- 1:12:35game. And I don't know if that, you
- 1:12:38know, if it was like it kind of was a hangover for the team as
- 1:12:41well. I want to say something too Ed.
- 1:12:43I want to say. Something too, Gino could have
- 1:12:44went right out on social media and and made a joke about Dawn
- 1:12:48Staley and not showing up in the game.
- 1:12:50If if that was you con, hold on. If that was you're not, let me
- 1:12:54finish it. If Dawn, if Dawn, if Gino was in
- 1:12:56that championship game and he got beaten by 20 points, you
- 1:12:59know damn well Dawn Staley would have been all over social media
- 1:13:02attacking Gino 100 percent, 100%.
- 1:13:06You can sell that. You can book it and you can
- 1:13:08shove it right in the oven. So speaking.
- 1:13:11So he had the he has. The ability to tight and do
- 1:13:14press runs when he wins, but when he loses, it's everybody
- 1:13:18else's fault. Sports.
- 1:13:22Anyways, with four games remaining in the regular season,
- 1:13:25the Lakers lost their two best players, Austin Reeves and Luka
- 1:13:28Doncic, to injuries. Reeves suffered an oblique
- 1:13:31injury in the Lakers loss to the Thunder on Thursday and is
- 1:13:35expected to miss four to six weeks, which will keep him out
- 1:13:40of the at least the rest of the regular season and the first
- 1:13:44round of the playoffs. Reeves also missed time earlier
- 1:13:48this year when he suffered A hamstring injury, causing him to
- 1:13:51miss 19 games. Luka Doncic suffered a Grade 2
- 1:13:55hamstring strain in the in the same game versus the Thunder and
- 1:13:59the Lakers say he will definitely be out for the rest
- 1:14:03of the regular season and will will be re evaluated and re
- 1:14:08evaluate him before the playoffs begin.
- 1:14:11This is the third instance already that Luca has fought
- 1:14:16injury since being traded to the Lakers in February of 2025.
- 1:14:21The Lakers are 50 and 28 and are tied with the Nuggets for the
- 1:14:25third seed in the Western Conference and are only one game
- 1:14:29ahead of the Rockets, who are 5th, the fifth seed right now,
- 1:14:33the Lakers would face either the Nuggets, the Rockets, or the
- 1:14:37Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.
- 1:14:39I'm going to tell you this right now, if Luca doesn't play in the
- 1:14:43first round of the playoffs, there's not a chance in hell
- 1:14:44they win. Reeves, He could miss the whole
- 1:14:49first. There's no way they win with
- 1:14:51just LeBron James. There's no way.
- 1:14:54So LeBron James is going to have to make a statement.
- 1:14:57He's going to have to prove that the old LeBron James could take
- 1:15:00over. He could be the old LeBron James
- 1:15:02when he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in his first two or
- 1:15:04three years, when he took that team all the way to the
- 1:15:07championship against the San Antonio Spurs and get absolutely
- 1:15:10swept. I don't believe Luca plays at
- 1:15:14all in the playoffs with this injury.
- 1:15:16I, I just, you think about this injury, it's a hamstring injury.
- 1:15:20It's a significant, significant injury.
- 1:15:23And when you're using your legs, you're running up and down the
- 1:15:25court. And I'm not saying Luka Doncic
- 1:15:27is a speed demon. He's not Russell Westbrook, he's
- 1:15:29not one of those guys. But what is he going to pair up?
- 1:15:32He's going to hobble right over there across the and try to
- 1:15:35shoot a ball. He's got to jump.
- 1:15:37There's no way in hell Luka Doncic is going to play in the
- 1:15:41first round of the playoffs. Whoever they're matched against,
- 1:15:44if they're matched against an August, they don't stand a
- 1:15:46chance. The match against the Rockets,
- 1:15:47they don't stand a chance. The Timberwolves, I don't know,
- 1:15:49it's a hit or miss with the Timberwolves.
- 1:15:51What Timberwolves team is going to show up in the first round?
- 1:15:54Because we've seen them completely not show up and we've
- 1:15:56seen them go all the way to the finals.
- 1:15:57Now, here's the thing. Austin Reeves to me is, is
- 1:16:02tough. He's a tough guy.
- 1:16:05And I could see Austin Reeves somehow playing in the first
- 1:16:08round even with an injury. Now, an oblique tear or a bleak
- 1:16:12injury. I don't know if it's a tear or
- 1:16:14it's a sprain. I don't know what it is.
- 1:16:16We've seen it in baseball. Baseball you could be out a
- 1:16:18significant amount of time. You're you're talking about
- 1:16:21maybe 2-3 months now. Basketball.
- 1:16:25I've seen guys come back. I've seen Amar Stoudemire come
- 1:16:27back from an oblique injury in the playoffs.
- 1:16:30And when everybody said that he wasn't going to be back for four
- 1:16:33to six weeks or three weeks or six weeks.
- 1:16:35And he came back two weeks. Now depending on the situation
- 1:16:39or how bad the terror is or how bad the injury, and it seems
- 1:16:42like if it's a sprain to me, he could be back a lot sooner than
- 1:16:47later. If it's a terror, he six weeks
- 1:16:50at least, maybe 8 weeks. I would think that more than
- 1:16:53likely that Austin Reeves will be back in the first round, then
- 1:16:57Luka Doncic. I don't know if Luka Doncic
- 1:16:59plays anymore this year. And you're not going to put your
- 1:17:02franchise player at risk. You're not winning a
- 1:17:05championship as LeBron James came out numerous amount of time
- 1:17:09saying we're not winning a championship this year.
- 1:17:11No matter what we do, no matter where we come out of the Western
- 1:17:15Conference, we're not winning a championship.
- 1:17:17And how's she thinking? If LeBron doesn't think they're
- 1:17:19going to win and the organization doesn't think
- 1:17:22they're going to win, why are they going to put the guy, the
- 1:17:24two guys that are going to be there for, for the next 5 to 10
- 1:17:28years at risk when you're going to have a chance to win a
- 1:17:31championship? Maybe next year if you get
- 1:17:32Giannis. Or maybe you make a move and you
- 1:17:34trade for another superstar player to come and play with
- 1:17:37Reeves, who's going to get a big contract in the offseason or
- 1:17:39Luca Doncic just signed a significant contract with them.
- 1:17:43I'm not putting my organization at risk, especially when LeBron
- 1:17:46James is throwing the organization under the bus just
- 1:17:48because LeBron wants to win #5 before he leaves.
- 1:17:52I, I think it's a bad move for the Lakers now.
- 1:17:55I JJ Reddick right now is on the hot seat.
- 1:17:58He is on a hot seat because if Lebron's gone, he's gone too,
- 1:18:02because there's no way Luca is going to want JJ Redick there
- 1:18:06when he was a LeBron James guy. So JJ needs to go out there and
- 1:18:09win series. He needs to at least come out of
- 1:18:12the first round if he plans to keep his job.
- 1:18:14And this is a a Laker team that's had a very good year.
- 1:18:17They played very good even without without LeBron James.
- 1:18:20Austin Reeves became a superstar player, a star player this year.
- 1:18:23Luca Dodgek has proven to you, proven to everybody that this
- 1:18:26guy, if you didn't get hurt, I think Luca wins the energy P.
- 1:18:29He's been, he's been not good for the last three weeks.
- 1:18:31You shake your head. Who's been better than him?
- 1:18:34Who's been better than him? Shay Alexander has not been
- 1:18:36better than him. He hasn't.
- 1:18:38He hasn't. If you look at the numbers, he
- 1:18:39hasn't been Lucas and the numbers they tell.
- 1:18:42Tell it cause a lot of the four quarters as you won't even play
- 1:18:45in Shay's playing on an all around team.
- 1:18:48Shay's playing with the. Oklahoma City.
- 1:18:50Thunder, which is probably the best overall team in the league.
- 1:18:53So and Lucas playing with Lucas playing on a. 2nd tier.
- 1:18:57Team with an old LeBron James who doesn't want to be there and
- 1:19:00Austin Reeves is just finally becoming a player that people
- 1:19:03are talking about. So to tell me when, when you
- 1:19:06talk about MVP, Most Valuable Player, he is the Most Valuable
- 1:19:09Player to the team. Shay Alexander goes or he drops
- 1:19:13that team still is winning. That's still it's still an elite
- 1:19:15team in Western Conference with the time that they have.
- 1:19:17What do you mean? They're they're.
- 1:19:19Probably the best team in the Western Conference.
- 1:19:21They're professionals, so they can win.
- 1:19:22Some games, but you talking about winning what?
- 1:19:24They're the best team in the Western Conference even.
- 1:19:26Without check, I still think San Antonio.
- 1:19:29So San Antonio probably got I. Don't trust San Antonio and San.
- 1:19:32Antonio, you don't, but they beat them three out of four.
- 1:19:34Times. That's fine, they match up very.
- 1:19:37Well, the Knicks are beaten. The Knicks are beaten.
- 1:19:39San Antonio pulverized San Antonio.
- 1:19:41Both games. Both games.
- 1:19:43Does that mean that the Knicks are going to beat them in A7
- 1:19:45game series? No.
- 1:19:46OK, so you could say what matchups are matchups?
- 1:19:50That's that's how it works. That doesn't mean that they can
- 1:19:53in a playoff game, even without Che Alexander that OKC can't
- 1:19:57beat the San Antonio spy have no chance against.
- 1:19:59I disagree with you, San Antonio Without, I disagree with you.
- 1:20:02I disagree with you. But to go back to this Lakers
- 1:20:05situation, I. Think that if they match up with
- 1:20:07the Minnesota Timberwolves, they could possibly make it out the
- 1:20:09first round because we don't know exactly what comes with
- 1:20:12them. And I think that we could see
- 1:20:14LeBron go to going to terror. He can score and get those guys
- 1:20:19involved in the game. So as bad as that loss was not
- 1:20:22really that bad, but as bad as that loss was against the
- 1:20:24marriage, if you look at LeBron had 15 assists that game.
- 1:20:27So this is with a team that he's never been on the court with.
- 1:20:30So you got to take that into consideration that if they these
- 1:20:33last couple of games during the season, they get an opportunity
- 1:20:36to play with each other and get some chemistry together.
- 1:20:38And they play a team like the Timberwolves, which I think is
- 1:20:41kind of overrated this year. They play against them.
- 1:20:43Rockets, I think it's overrated as well.
- 1:20:45But they got the talent to kind of get over there, although they
- 1:20:49got KD and what's it Smith Junior like?
- 1:20:52As long as they got them, they're going to probably talent
- 1:20:55them. But if they can't hit the shots,
- 1:20:56Rockets are overrated. Absolutely, I keep telling you
- 1:21:00that. You also you also keep telling
- 1:21:03us that the Atlanta Hawks. Might go far into play.
- 1:21:06Watch. Watch who don't.
- 1:21:07Want to play against Atlanta? Please, please, you're going to
- 1:21:10tell me. That Atlanta Hawks are better
- 1:21:12than the Rockets. I hope the Knicks play the
- 1:21:13Rockets. I mean I.
- 1:21:14Do too. It'll be an easy round.
- 1:21:17It'll be an easy. Seven games.
- 1:21:19It'll be an easy seven games. For the Knicks?
- 1:21:21Easy. Seven game, it's not good luck,
- 1:21:23I'm telling you. And and Luka Doncic, I don't,
- 1:21:26I'm not rushing Luka Doncic back.
- 1:21:28He's an injury prone player. Say whatever you want about
- 1:21:30Luke, how great he is as a player, he has been as good of
- 1:21:34players since coming out of the draft.
- 1:21:35He's sensational. He's for a guy who's 610.
- 1:21:38He can play the point guard position, he can shoot, he can
- 1:21:41pass, he can rebound. He's a sensational player.
- 1:21:43He doesn't play defense and that's a big problem when it
- 1:21:45comes to the Lakers and the playoffs putting him in harm's
- 1:21:50way. When you plan maybe next year to
- 1:21:53bring in another superstar to play with your two guys, Reeves
- 1:21:56and Luka Tajik, there's a good chance that they're going to
- 1:21:59make a run for Giannis. There's a very good chance they
- 1:22:01make a run for you. I don't know if they get them.
- 1:22:03I don't know how it works. But if they do, I mean, they're
- 1:22:06automatically the the favorite to coming out of the Western
- 1:22:09Conference next year if they get Giannis Breeze out of there.
- 1:22:12I don't think that works though. How that's going to how that's
- 1:22:14going to work, I don't know, but a lot of people A.
- 1:22:16Lot of people, well, Lebron's going to be gone.
- 1:22:18Lebron's gone. He's not.
- 1:22:21Opting in to he is a. He is a player option.
- 1:22:24There's no way he's opting into that contract.
- 1:22:26There's no way he's going back to Cleveland.
- 1:22:28I I. Think there's a better chance of
- 1:22:30him? Going to Cleveland, Miami or the
- 1:22:32Knicks than him staying with the Lakers.
- 1:22:34I think there's a better chance of him going to Cleveland than
- 1:22:36any one of those teams. You make jokes, but it's true.
- 1:22:39Dallas is another thing. Dallas is.
- 1:22:41I I don't want him to go to. The Knicks, so I hope he, I hope
- 1:22:44they fumble as much as they can. I don't want LeBron there.
- 1:22:47He's going to ruin that team and he's going to ruin that lineup,
- 1:22:49so I don't want him. You make jokes, but I'd rather
- 1:22:51them go into Celtics because the Celtics are a dumb organization.
- 1:22:54They'll probably make that move too.
- 1:22:56A winning organization. Yeah.
- 1:22:57Oh yeah, they're winning. Oh yeah, they're a great.
- 1:22:59Winning organization. They're great.
- 1:23:00Recent champion. 24 Great, great they won 1 champion.
- 1:23:05And soon to get Braylan Mullins right.
- 1:23:06Q. Right.
- 1:23:10Lost. Lost.
- 1:23:12He's wearing a New York Yankees hat and he's a Celtic fan.
- 1:23:15Tell what color it is. I know.
- 1:23:16Enough of those it's blue. It's still a Yankees.
- 1:23:19What are? You talking about you're telling
- 1:23:21me your. Yankees hat is in blue.
- 1:23:23No, what the hell is it, Carolina Blue?
- 1:23:26Sorry. It's a Carolina blue hat.
- 1:23:30I'm sorry. It's.
- 1:23:32Not blue, it's Carolina blue. I just said it was blue.
- 1:23:36It's still blue, you idiot. I don't get this guy sometimes.
- 1:23:42I'm lost. I'm trying to compare colors.
- 1:23:44What are you telling me? I'm color blind.
- 1:23:46You know what? It's a purple hat.
- 1:23:47That's what it is. It's a purple.
- 1:23:49It's Carolina purple. It's a Carolina purple hat.
- 1:23:52That's what it is. It's right in front of my face.
- 1:23:54It's square right in front of my face right now.
- 1:23:56Thank you, Fish. I'm going to tell you also this
- 1:23:59about the Lakers, the organization.
- 1:24:02The organization's on the hot scene because Jeanie Buss is
- 1:24:06still the president of the organization.
- 1:24:09But how long is this going to take?
- 1:24:10This is a, this is a winning organization.
- 1:24:12They've won. They've never gone in these
- 1:24:15these long droughts and winning championships.
- 1:24:18When was the last time they won a championship?
- 1:24:19I think it's like 2020. It's been 6.
- 1:24:22Years now. It's going to go six years
- 1:24:24without a championship. This is an organization that's
- 1:24:27been consistent and they always bring in the star.
- 1:24:31They've they pretty much was handed Luka Doncic.
- 1:24:33I don't know if if I was Giannis, do I want to go to
- 1:24:37Lakers in and and be shadowed by Luka Doncic?
- 1:24:39No, if it happens, if it becomes available, I can't see that
- 1:24:43happening. Luka Luke is a guy that wants to
- 1:24:46be the center of attention. He wants to be the guy and and
- 1:24:48LeBron still thinks that he can be the guy.
- 1:24:51And if somehow LeBron James without Reeves and without Luca,
- 1:24:55he gets out of the first round and gets any one of those teams,
- 1:24:58that's pretty impressive. A 40 something year old man
- 1:25:02taking a team that don't play any defense whatsoever.
- 1:25:05Not a lick of it. And and by the way, JJ Redick,
- 1:25:08if I was JJ, I'm sweating right now.
- 1:25:11I am absolutely sweating because I know my superstar player don't
- 1:25:14like me. He don't like him and I and I'm
- 1:25:17sorry, him coming out and say, well, this is what a player and
- 1:25:19a coach does. Get the hell out of here.
- 1:25:22Are you kidding me? When your player on the bench is
- 1:25:24yelling at you and by the way, your two superstars, the one
- 1:25:27that you kiss his ass and the other one on the other side is
- 1:25:31Luka Doncic. They don't even want to sit next
- 1:25:33to each other on the bench. They never sit next to each
- 1:25:35other on the bench. I don't know if anybody knows
- 1:25:37this. I watched the Laker games.
- 1:25:39I just want to stare at what's going on because these guys do
- 1:25:42not talk on the bench. They have no, like I'm not
- 1:25:47saying they don't respect each other, but they they as leaders
- 1:25:50and as superstars, they don't like each other.
- 1:25:52They really don't. You shake your head, but it's
- 1:25:55true. No, I don't think it's based
- 1:25:57off. The evidence you present,
- 1:25:59really. Like, yeah, like most superstars
- 1:26:01don't sit beside each other. Like that's not a so.
- 1:26:04So what if they usually take? Up like one or two seats.
- 1:26:07So it doesn't really make sense. So what happened?
- 1:26:10A couple of what happened. A couple of months ago when
- 1:26:12they're trying to decide who shoots the final shot of the
- 1:26:14game and and why they lost the game because LeBron thinks Lucas
- 1:26:18going to shoot it and Luca thinks Lebron's going to shoot
- 1:26:20it and they completely bomb it. And you're going to tell me that
- 1:26:23these guys like each other? No, because they can't.
- 1:26:26They don't talk to one another. That's why they bombed it.
- 1:26:28That's why they made the mistake on the basketball card, because
- 1:26:31they don't like one another. They have nothing to say one
- 1:26:34another. LeBron James, how many times
- 1:26:36have we heard Kyrie Irving come out and say that?
- 1:26:38I never realized what a leader needs to do until I left.
- 1:26:43I left Cleveland and I went to the Celtics and they wanted me
- 1:26:46to be a leader and I couldn't be a leader.
- 1:26:48And that's what happened. And, and that's why Kyrie Irving
- 1:26:50never really really flourished over there with the Celtics
- 1:26:54because he didn't know. He thought he could do it.
- 1:26:56And then he tried to go do it with the Brooklyn Nets.
- 1:26:58And we all know what happened with him and James Harden and
- 1:27:01Kevin Durant. They were outside that selling
- 1:27:02playoff tickets and. Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant is
- 1:27:05not a leader. Leader, we all know.
- 1:27:07And James Harden's not a leader. He's a leader by example.
- 1:27:09Oh please. Is.
- 1:27:11That. Is that what his Twitter
- 1:27:12accounts? Say.
- 1:27:13Leader by example, so. You don't have to be.
- 1:27:15He's a leader. You know his voice.
- 1:27:17Like there's a lot of a lot of people don't understand that
- 1:27:19there's other voices in the huddle that they take different
- 1:27:23things. It's not always like so you
- 1:27:24think every didn't have a voice on the Ravens?
- 1:27:27No, but I could tell you one guy.
- 1:27:30I'm not saying that he didn't or he didn't.
- 1:27:31I'm saying that I'm going to tell you he did OK.
- 1:27:34How do you know you hang? Out with that?
- 1:27:36Well, you hanging out in the huddle.
- 1:27:38He was actually signed by the. Jets, I don't know if you
- 1:27:41realized that. Yeah, I remember.
- 1:27:42Yeah, I remember. Yeah, so I actually do know
- 1:27:45because I talked to. Him.
- 1:27:46Oh, good. Well, good.
- 1:27:47You talk to him. I never spoke to him.
- 1:27:49I probably probably rather not trust me then I actually know.
- 1:27:53Yeah, well, let's let's talk about.
- 1:27:54Bart Scott How? How big of a leader was he in
- 1:27:57the huddle? He was not a leader.
- 1:27:58OK, OK. Well, why wasn't?
- 1:28:00He a leader. He was not a leader.
- 1:28:03What do you mean the? Jets hired him as a leader.
- 1:28:05No, they did it. Yes, he did.
- 1:28:06They brought him in. The man brought him the man
- 1:28:08back. Signed him as a player.
- 1:28:09Oh, stop. I remember when Rex Ryan signed
- 1:28:12Ryan. Thomas was a leader.
- 1:28:14Well, hold on. Hold on, Rex Ryan.
- 1:28:16I remember that press conference.
- 1:28:17A while I remember. That offseason when they.
- 1:28:21Signed. When they brought in Bart Scott
- 1:28:23and I remember what Rex Ryan said in front of all the media
- 1:28:26says this guy is one of the best leaders I've ever worked with
- 1:28:29over there with the Baltimore Ravens.
- 1:28:30This guy is going to be a boy. He's a born leader.
- 1:28:33He's going to be the leader of my defense.
- 1:28:34Was he a leader of his defense, yes or no?
- 1:28:36No, but here's what you got to understand.
- 1:28:38There's certain coaches like loudmouths, like certain coaches
- 1:28:41like people who talk loud. That doesn't mean that they're
- 1:28:44they're actually the leader of the team.
- 1:28:46They don't mean they're taking control over the defense or
- 1:28:49offense. So that's what I'm saying.
- 1:28:50So like, I like you as a loudmouth, you know what I mean?
- 1:28:55But that doesn't mean that I would have you as the leader of
- 1:28:57a team if we're going to war, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:29:00I just like, hey, I thought you could impact it, but I wouldn't
- 1:29:03bring you on in the knee. Oh, so you wouldn't bring the
- 1:29:05leader of the team of the war? Oh, so you wouldn't bring?
- 1:29:07Me and media. Immediate now and media is.
- 1:29:09Different. We ain't talking of media, we
- 1:29:11talking about going to a war. Why couldn't I be a leader in a
- 1:29:14war? We'll save it for after the
- 1:29:17show. Wait a second, I could?
- 1:29:20Be a general. I could be a captain.
- 1:29:22What do you? What do you What?
- 1:29:23Are you kidding me? I think you have great.
- 1:29:25Trace Oh yeah, you're a killer. Yeah, there it.
- 1:29:29Is nice. It's nice, I figured.
- 1:29:33Interesting. But you are a good leader
- 1:29:36though. But it's not for certain
- 1:29:38situations. It's OK, you don't have to
- 1:29:40compliment me. No, you.
- 1:29:42I love you. You're a good guy.
- 1:29:43Oh, thank you. I I I appreciate.
- 1:29:45It I love you too. You're a good leader.
- 1:29:47I don't want that to be misunderstood.
- 1:29:48Well, you know if it is miss everybody's.
