- 2:15Hey, everyone, it's another Saturday night, and I am here with
- 2:21you. My name is Petrie Scrumble, and I am sc book out eight
- 2:25four three, and y'all so me and that's author. We have already been
- 2:30hit chatting before you guys got here. She got some poetry. Yes,
- 2:36I'm using my geechiness. She got some poetry, you guys. And then
- 2:42on top of her poetry, she has this beautiful breath taking artwork. Oh
- 2:47my god, y'all have to see. I'm not gonna let y'all see the
- 2:52artwork. See y'all think y'all slick, y'all gonna have to get the book
- 2:53to see the artwork. But her name is miss Moore, and we're gonna
- 2:58bring her up, but she's gonna to introduce herself. Come on up and
- 3:01join me, sweetheart. Hi, my name is Martin am Moore, and
- 3:10I am the author of the best selling book Phoenix Heart, which is poetry,
- 3:15is miss Patrie said, and I currently reside in Dallas, Texas.
- 3:21So y'all we're gonna get well. Y'all can see the cover like right behind
- 3:27her. If y'all see that, isn't that beautiful? You guys. I
- 3:30can just stare at it all day, and I've been talking to her about
- 3:35it. But you have to get the book to see some of the illustrations,
- 3:40you guys. I'm on floored. And she said that somebody told her
- 3:46that poetry books does not have illustration. I think she now started a whole
- 3:53new sector of the game with this. Okay, you guys, So miss
- 3:59Moore to sc book, Prince Chat, tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 4:09Well, well, about myself. I'm a fun loving person. I've
- 4:15been writing on and off since since since I was in school. I was
- 4:21kind of want to consider a nerd a nerd, but I do sports,
- 4:28so I've always I've always written in the poetry. It came about as many
- 4:35writers do as therapy. So I was going through separation, through a divorce,
- 4:41and so my very first poem was Beauty, which is the first poem
- 4:45in the Phoenix Heart. And so that helped heal me and helped me work
- 4:49through and put my things on paper instead of doing, you know, doing
- 4:53other things to heal myself. But as far as me, I'm I'm very
- 5:00open. I'm fun, love and I love sports. I love to travel,
- 5:02I like karaoke. I love karaoke. Karaoke, Yes, ma'am,
- 5:09I love. We we had the karaoke bar. What is your go to
- 5:17song? My warm up song? It's either Jill Scott The Way or Bobby
- 5:23cop Well what you want to do for love? And the people who are
- 5:26around the karaoke bars are probably like, yeah, that's her song. We
- 5:29know that's her. Okay, okay, I can do that. I can
- 5:35do some jills see that. I can see that. So let's go to
- 5:46this book, you guys. I have my copy right here on my phone.
- 5:51So let's go to this Phoenix Sun. Where did the inspiration of the
- 6:01Phoenix Sun I Need a Phoenix Heart come from? I mean, well,
- 6:09it was a journey. It was a thirteen year journey. Like like I
- 6:13said, I was going through divorce and separations. So basically the book is
- 6:15a evolution of the heart. And when you read it, you see the
- 6:18progression of at the beginning of being her betrayed and then meeting someone, then
- 6:27being healed and then coming into my and to my own into my healing ara
- 6:31which then is going into the next book Reflections Rising, And so that's where
- 6:38the inspiration came from. And I can see that with your titles beauty rules,
- 6:47what do I Why do I missing so much? But she got a
- 6:53title, you guys. The poem is named man Killing, So y'all know
- 7:03she said she was gonna tell me the backstory of the band kill a point.
- 7:09I ain't got no popcorn, but I am ready for this one.
- 7:12It's like, what is this story? Well, as far as Mankiller,
- 7:17when I wrote that one, if you hadn't been in the dating world after
- 7:21you were, I had been married. So I'm at the point of separation
- 7:26and out and everything I'm running into. It's like, hmm, okay,
- 7:30you know what one man, two man, three men, I'm done because
- 7:34I'm hearing the same thing I'm hearing, but I'm not seeing the same actions.
- 7:39So at that point my heart was like, and I hate that maybe
- 7:44I might have missed the blessing in one of them, but at that point
- 7:46in time, it was just like all I saw was the same person.
- 7:50And I knew at that point that one line I said, you will not
- 7:55mark my faith, you weren't gonna mark my fate at that time. So
- 8:00that's where the evolution of that poet came from. And you got I'm gone.
- 8:05You read the point. She literally said, one man, two men,
- 8:11three, I'm done. And it makes so much sense because the dating
- 8:16world nowadays, Oh my gosh, I'm I'm I'm I'm going. I'm at
- 8:24the end of my divorce. We we almost did. Yeah, I give
- 8:28up. It's gonna be I told someone who I was talking to. I
- 8:37said, in order for me to date anybody else, Jesus will have to
- 8:39come down, sit next to me and be like my homeboy trying to holler.
- 8:43That's the only way it's going to happen, because yeah, it's what
- 8:50you accepting. No, is what is being presented. You know, you
- 8:56understand that point. Yeah, And then, as you know, that was
- 9:01kind of like the first half of you know, my healing journey, because
- 9:05you know, you you go through faith and you get divorced. Well,
- 9:09at least the idea. Let me speak for myself at least. But I've
- 9:13learned that it's up to you what you accept, right, And then I
- 9:18and I do realize that what energy you put out is what you attract.
- 9:24That's also on you. Right, you can go, they go. So
- 9:26that's when I was like, I'm just stop looking. I don't even want
- 9:31to give energy no more because you're like, God, you won't go see
- 9:39a movie. I ain't got no barger go together. You know. That's
- 9:43where right now? Just your favorite poet in Phoenix Part Phoenix Part my and
- 9:58my favorite poem is probably the most morbid form of the book. Hollow is
- 10:03my favorite poem. So Hollow was, well, it's kind of the most
- 10:11darkest. It's the darkest poem in the book to me as the author,
- 10:16because Hollow was to the point where you ever been at a crossroads in your
- 10:20life, you either go left or right. I was just hollering, I
- 10:24I because it's me righting. It's from my point of view. I was
- 10:28just hollow. It was like I had no feelings, so something, you
- 10:33know, I needed something to let me know I was alive, because at
- 10:35that point it was just like that was that was the bottom, you know,
- 10:39like like we're talking about the Dayton world and you know, friends betraying
- 10:45you, maybe trouble going on in your life, and I was just hollow
- 10:50and that was the turning point with which way am I going to go left
- 10:52or right? You know? But I ended up on my knees and I
- 10:58made it through that point my mind, right, But that's me. That's
- 11:03my my favorite poem. Yes, at all of them. What would you
- 11:09want somebody to take from this one? From hollow that, Yeah, I
- 11:20want them to take that. You know that if you are hollow or or
- 11:28have a feeling where you don't know where to turn or what to do,
- 11:33you you will make it out of that situation. You just have to learn
- 11:37how to click it away, learn your lesson from what you were supposed to
- 11:41learn from whatever situation you were in it made you feel that way. That's
- 11:45what I want somebody to get out of that poem, because you know,
- 11:48sometimes people can be so distraught or in just in any type of turmoili situation
- 11:54and they think they cannot make it out of it. But I'm here to
- 11:56say you can't. You will no matter what it is, because what you
- 12:03may feel at twenty years old is not gonna matter to you. By the
- 12:07time you hit my age. You're gonna think, oh you think that was
- 12:09a problem. Oh that's nothing now at my age, right, So so
- 12:13get that out of that point that, learn your lessons, brush yourself off
- 12:20and keep going. Yeah, and stop repeating it. That's craziness. Once
- 12:24you learn something, accept it, and move on and stop repeating it because
- 12:28it's not going to change. God keeps giving you lessons until you realize,
- 12:33oh, this is not what I'm supposed to be doing. I have learned,
- 12:39and you will progress to the next stage. I'm living proof of that.
- 12:43Ye now that's that. That was for me. I had to yes,
- 12:48Yes, that that was that was my nugget. Thank you, I
- 12:50accept it. You accept I'm going to jump off the hamster wheel spend that
- 13:01part. So once you completed, you publish, you have this book in
- 13:09your hand. What was your initial feeling like I had a baby? Oh.
- 13:18A lot of authors say that it's it ends like having a baby,
- 13:24because when you start, it's tiny and small, and then it keeps growing
- 13:30and growing, and then toward the end when you're when you're at your push
- 13:35the line to push it out, it's like having a baby because then you
- 13:39have all these thoughts and you're like, oh my god, how are people
- 13:41going to receive this? You know, is it going to be right?
- 13:46You know? I thought you have all this stuffs like having a baby,
- 13:48because you know, when you have a physical baby, like, oh god,
- 13:50I hope it's healthy. I hope people restect it. I'm a love
- 13:54of baby, but is anybody else gonna love it? That's how it felt
- 13:58about my book. I burnt the book. I'm a middle birthday now,
- 14:01I'm in eight months. Now, somebody wants you to know the day of
- 14:07watching your birthday process process morning. He said, Yes, that's my aunt
- 14:15Hi, New York, New Jersey, Hi, Hi Auntie. Yes,
- 14:20and yeah, they they've watched the loot. So we went from Phoenix son,
- 14:28Phoenix son. Why am I keep on thinking the fire? You see
- 14:31the red and orange? Yeah, it's the heart, it's the heart,
- 14:39the phoenix heart. Yeah. Now you're about you said you're eight months pregnant,
- 14:43you're about to give birth. Yes, we're gonna take a little break
- 14:48and we're gonna talk about that new baby you're about to have. So you
- 14:52guys, we're gonna take a little break. We'll come back and we're gonna
- 14:56talk about baby number two. Okay, you guys, hold on and we'll
- 15:03be back in turn off the legs, candle tonight, a man, magine,
- 15:37let's take a shower shower together. I'll watch a Monday you wash my
- 15:56so what wealth day? Save turn on me girl? I don't want to
- 16:18care of you? What's special? Tread You're so sweet? Turn on y'all
- 16:29know that. Y'all know that's my song. So I'm back to dancing.
- 16:33I love too. Okay, we are back witness more and we went from
- 16:42the Phoenix and now we're going to the Reflections. So you have your new
- 16:49book, can you tell us about when it's going to be out? If
- 16:55me and my editor talked today, it should be released the weekend of March
- 16:59fifteenth. Start running advertisements and I will have an exact date by the end
- 17:04of next week. But that's the target date is March fifteenth, that weekend.
- 17:08Well, please make sure you send us an advertisement because I'll be happy
- 17:12to have it on all my social media. And so Reflections Rising, Yes,
- 17:22what is this one about? Actually, Reflections Rising is more examining self
- 17:32reflections journey. It has poetry in there that touches on different topics that are
- 17:37not explored typically. I have a couple of poems that some people may raise
- 17:44their eyebrows about, but the point of the poetry is for you to self
- 17:48reflect, Oh you did you? Did you? Guys? And I got
- 17:57a kicker in that one too, So you say with the with the with
- 18:00the pictures. I also have a part that after all of the poetry,
- 18:04is called self reflections. And so that part is kind of like a journal
- 18:08where it has different questions where you can analyze the poem and write what you
- 18:15want. So little a little different. But you're gonna you're gonna let me
- 18:22the reader read the poem. You're gonna ask me a question, and then
- 18:26I get to analyze the point at the end of the book. It's a
- 18:30it's a separate part. It's a separate part where you can keep your thoughts.
- 18:33Yes, keep your thoughts is wonderful. Yes, I love that,
- 18:41Thank you. So yeah, we'll talk about my favorite one in a minute,
- 18:48your favorite? Which one is your favorite? In reflection? Rising my
- 18:56favorite? I got too. I like Bonded and Devil's Reflection. The Devil's
- 19:02Reflection. Okay, so why do you choose those two? Well? Bonded
- 19:11is it's about it's it's love. It's just like, it's so melodic to
- 19:18me. It's so it's so melodic because it's about when you find true love,
- 19:23whether it's from a kid, any type of relationship, platonic or lover's
- 19:30relationship, and you're bonded to each other, and so your heart is my
- 19:34heart, we're each other's melody, we are one where them. So that's
- 19:41that's why I like that one. And then Devil's Devil's Reflection is one that
- 19:48when I when I wrote when I wrote that, when it was in reference,
- 19:52I was talking to one of my to my childhood best friends. Hey,
- 19:55Brenda, Brenda Smith Hickman. Now we were talking and it was a
- 20:00case. I can't that we were dealing with. She's a nurse, but
- 20:04anyhow, that's hippop. But it made me think, man, I wanted
- 20:10to write a poem about that, and it was the it was the devil's
- 20:14reflection, and so it's about devil's reflection. Could be dealing with a devil,
- 20:18whatever it may be in your life, whatever advice. It could be
- 20:21drugs, it could be money, it could be a man a woman.
- 20:25But look at that, and it says, why is the Why are you
- 20:29letting a devil control you? His reflection is right there? But why are
- 20:33you overlooking it? Why are you overlooking that? So that's why it's my
- 20:38favorite, my personal favorite besides bonded. So, like I said, I
- 20:44kind of like the more the crazier one. But you know, you know,
- 20:51because everybody has dealt with some type of vice in their life. I
- 20:55don't know who you are. Even Jesus Christ. We bought third had advice
- 20:59that kids have advice and they don't even know what it is. My daughter's
- 21:03vice is cut right, right right, but it's it's if the point is
- 21:10for you to, you know, to reflect on that, right. So
- 21:15I'm trying to find it. I'm looking at it. I'm in my rough
- 21:18copy. Like I said, I'm birthdays right now. But but that that
- 21:26that is my favorite one. And then you yours? Did you hit on
- 21:33yours? You know I'm up here looking at it, so you guys,
- 21:37my favorite The title is mistress. I mean, you guys, if you
- 21:45read the point, it makes so much. And yeah, there's gonna be
- 21:56a lot of lot of comments after this morning. But that's what it's supposed
- 22:02to do, is make you make you think. I mean, I'm just
- 22:04I'm just a poet putting it out there for you to sell. Reflect Now,
- 22:07I don't know which side you on. I don't know if you fall
- 22:11as a mistress or if you fall as what I guess, if you're a
- 22:15mistress, your wife. So you know that's that's for you to reflect on
- 22:22that. And that's kind of one where I was like, oh man,
- 22:25but when the inspiration hit I wrote it so and the inspiration it hit her
- 22:30in you know what, you guys, you have to read this and when
- 22:33you do read this, you're going to be like, you know what,
- 22:36it's total sense, total sense, especially that one line at the end it
- 22:42says she is his, she is the secrets he keeps one, the one
- 22:48who will undo him in the end, his secret, his lover, his
- 22:53friend, friend. So a lot of people I okay, so y'all,
- 23:03I have a new guilty pleasure and it's called Cotton that act with Tammy Roman.
- 23:11Oh guys, it is hilarious. But the crazy thing about is the
- 23:17med or the husband or the wife is always going there at the side right
- 23:23why you know what? To me, she didn't. I don't care if
- 23:30it's a popular opinion unpopular, because I have been a wife and I well
- 23:36been through that. But the thing is that he didn't. He didn't walk.
- 23:38She didn't walk down the eye with you and put a ring on your
- 23:41fingers. She didn't do the commitment in front of God. He did.
- 23:45The only time that I would ever confront a woman is if you're my friend
- 23:51or somebody who knew we were together. And even then I still would put
- 23:53that on him. But she she would get she she would get a piece
- 23:56of it. But other than that, my opinion is stop going after the
- 24:02other women, especially if they don't know. That's just my thing. If
- 24:07they don't know, why are you holding them accountable? So remember how we
- 24:14talked earlier. I told you I always bring the element of pop culture in.
- 24:18Yes, so this point the Mistress, if you could get any female
- 24:26actor or I don't even want to do rap because that's too any R and
- 24:33B female artists. If this book of this poem was made into an individual,
- 24:44who do you feel will be the perfect person to play that part?
- 24:48To play the mistress? M hm, Taraji Usna Lathan, I can see
- 24:57that. But you know who I thought, Latita why because that one line
- 25:07she has no expectations but loves to have fun and enjoy. I can see
- 25:14Queen Latina sitting out there riding bikes with you around doing the other dude and
- 25:21then turn around, and you know, I can see her son, and
- 25:25I can see her too, and notih late, and I really could.
- 25:29I can see son I love I love her and I love well. I
- 25:34like to Raji and I like Kerrie Washington. Terry probably could do that.
- 25:41Yeah, because she did a good job and she pleased skin. Yeahsss white
- 25:47a minute mark carry down, she did it. Trying to figure out where
- 25:56she was going next with this, but she did that, Yeah she did.
- 26:00Yeah Krrien h you have another poem that actually that came out to me
- 26:10and then I'm trying to find it right now. Love Me out Loud?
- 26:15Oh yeah, I can actually hear that as a song. Wow. Yeah,
- 26:22well that's beautiful. Uh my people who make music, I can be
- 26:27a ghost writer now. I read that one and I was like, I
- 26:33could see this being a song, uh something that uh a scene in a
- 26:40movie where they're finally coming into that love with each other and you know how
- 26:44they played a little song and I can I can actually hear that in the
- 26:48background. Love Me out Loud, Yes, yeah, that's a I can
- 26:52see I can see where that could be melodic. Yeah, that was another
- 26:57deep one that yes. Yeah, And it's crazy how you how I get
- 27:06the inspiration because I walk around and I put everything on my cellphone. I'm
- 27:11very handy. I'm sorry, and I put everything on my cell phone and
- 27:14this goes back to the dating scene. Here we go again. We move
- 27:17back to the dating scene and I talk with my girlfriends. We have like
- 27:21these deep conversations. And then this one came from where it's like you have
- 27:27men around you, but it's not like they want to be around, but
- 27:32they don't want to love you out loud, and it's like I'm sticking at
- 27:34you. Can you love me out loud? You know? It was just
- 27:37like a whole conversation. I had this with probably two girls, two to
- 27:41three girlfriends in less than the span of a week, and I said,
- 27:45Okay, this is a theme. This is a poem that I need to
- 27:48get out and put it on paper for someone to read that, you know,
- 27:53because women are asked and a man and it could be a man on
- 27:57the other side, because women do the same, do the same thing.
- 28:02May go around with a guy but you're not loving him out loud or vice
- 28:07versa, and then it gets to the point where you're asking, please love
- 28:10me out now, and by the time they decide to love you out loud,
- 28:14it's overweight because you know, at this point in time. It's like
- 28:17I've been asking you, you're not hearing me. You might be, you're
- 28:22not hearing. You might be listening, but you're not hearing and comprehending.
- 28:25And by the time that they get that point, usually the other person is
- 28:29done because you've been there just holding on, right you're holding on and wait
- 28:33for someone to love you out loud, bang go. So we are getting
- 28:37close to the end of the night. But I'm going to ask you a
- 28:40hard question. Yes, I know. Parents are not supposed to pick favorites.
- 28:48Oh my god, Yeah, going to ask you, so are we
- 28:52phoenix or are we reflections? Which one is rising my favorite right now?
- 29:00Oh my gosh, I'm gonna have to say the new baby. So what
- 29:06makes the new baby? I'll come the old baby with a toddler right now?
- 29:11Yeah, because they're new. No. No, because like I said,
- 29:15I was able to put different poetry, newer poetry in because the phoenix
- 29:21heart is older. He thought my old baby, my old child, but
- 29:26it was older poetry throughout the years, and this one is more reflective of
- 29:30who I've involved into in the topics of today. Because the poetry varies different
- 29:37topics that I like to touch on at this point in my life. But
- 29:42that is great. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've had
- 29:48so much turnsure to make these guys. They are wonderful and I'm sitting up
- 29:55here and I didn't get to read them all. But now my eyes are
- 29:57glancing like her tolder. I'm gonna have to ask you to forgive me tonight
- 30:02because I'm gonna read this. So before we leave, we would like to
- 30:10know how we can follow you, stay in tune, keep up the dates
- 30:15with everything that's going on. So tell us how we can follow you.
