- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, early birds.
- 0:08Speaker 2: It's time now for our one on one of the
- 0:10Speaker 2: pro and from Early Bird Market.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We have this tory with us. How are you doing,
- 0:14Speaker 1: young lady.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I'm doing well, Tom. What about you?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Well?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Awesome sun shining and the Lord's been pretty good to us.
- 0:20Speaker 1: You had a great weekend.
- 0:21Speaker 3: All goodness.
- 0:23Speaker 4: This weekend in downtown Bartlesville, it was popping. It was
- 0:27Speaker 4: crazy between the farmers market and all the events going
- 0:31Speaker 4: around in Bartlesville and then all the small businesses being open.
- 0:34Speaker 4: It was absolutely phenomenal.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And you know something, your store, the Early Bird Market
- 0:41Speaker 2: right there in the Itio building downtown is popping too.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I was in there and there was a crowd, and
- 0:50Speaker 2: you know, I'm used to seeing you know, two three folks,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and there's a lot more than two to three.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yeah, no, And you had a lot of company.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And they were happy people too, because they found stuff
- 1:00Speaker 2: that they really weren't looking for, but they said, oh
- 1:03Speaker 2: that's nice.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Yes, that's exactly the whole thing about my stores.
- 1:07Speaker 3: You walk in thinking that it's going to be a
- 1:09Speaker 3: little gift shop, but it's a full long grocery store.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It truly is. But it's one of a Gutten's unique.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's grown right here.
- 1:16Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Everything is grown locally here on Bartlesville or within a
- 1:19Speaker 4: fifty mile radius. Everything is regenerative, regeneratively grown or taking
- 1:25Speaker 4: care of the agricultural system and everything.
- 1:27Speaker 2: So it's really nice. I mean, I saw perfectly canned vegetables.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I don't know why they call it canning because they
- 1:34Speaker 2: come in a job and I was seeing things that
- 1:39Speaker 2: I had not heard or seen before. Yeah, I'm going
- 1:43Speaker 2: folks can really do that. Well they can. And in
- 1:46Speaker 2: the delashs it is now you also have meats, produce
- 1:50Speaker 2: and a variety of other things too.
- 1:52Speaker 4: We have eggs, we have milk, we have butter, We
- 1:55Speaker 4: have all kinds of canned produce.
- 1:57Speaker 3: We have different kinds of drinks like.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Kombucha, mood brewis, we have different kinds of skincare products,
- 2:06Speaker 4: and we also have homeopathic products as well.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Even has its own little corner.
- 2:10Speaker 3: It does have its own corner.
- 2:11Speaker 4: And then we also have bulk bins so you can
- 2:13Speaker 4: buy and purchase your grains.
- 2:15Speaker 3: And I noticed that, Yes, it was pretty of my favorite.
- 2:20Speaker 1: That said, Wow, she's got it all together here.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Now when it comes to eggs, it's just not like
- 2:26Speaker 2: chicken eggs, only you've got a variety.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Yes, So we have a couple of different farmers that
- 2:31Speaker 4: do the eggs. So we do have quell eggs, we
- 2:34Speaker 4: have duck eggs, and we have chicken eggs. And if
- 2:38Speaker 4: you're allergic to chicken eggs, the quell eggs and the
- 2:40Speaker 4: duck eggs are available for you.
- 2:42Speaker 3: People use them for dog food as well.
- 2:44Speaker 4: And then we all the chicken eggs, all the eggs
- 2:46Speaker 4: are all grown or raised, pasture raised.
- 2:51Speaker 3: They feed them the best food possible.
- 2:53Speaker 4: They only supplement during the wintertime when foods sources are low.
- 2:57Speaker 4: They're taking care of really really well. All the chickens
- 3:00Speaker 4: are really happy, so you're getting the best kind of
- 3:02Speaker 4: product you can my goodness sakes.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And when it comes to the meat product too, pretty
- 3:08Speaker 2: much the same thing. You're not going to find.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Additives in this, No, you are not. No, No, this
- 3:12Speaker 1: has got to be as natural as natural can be.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Yes, So every every aspect of farming and ranching, I
- 3:19Speaker 4: try to use people who are practicing regenerative agriculture.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You got a nice little quarter office, as they say,
- 3:27Speaker 2: but wow, if you start getting any bigger, you can't
- 3:31Speaker 2: put more aisles.
- 3:31Speaker 1: In that thing.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Oh, trust me.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I know I've already been looking to see what I
- 3:36Speaker 4: can find in the downtown area where I can move.
- 3:38Speaker 1: But it's pretty cool. I love your neighbors are so cool.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I know. I love being in that building. It's one
- 3:44Speaker 3: of my absolute favorite places.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and like you said, all my neighbors are awesome.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I love talking with everyone inside of the building, and
- 3:52Speaker 4: I've built strong relationships with each one of them.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You know, each each one of the different businesses that
- 3:57Speaker 2: are right there in your facility that you share it
- 4:02Speaker 2: has something just a little bit different to add to
- 4:04Speaker 2: the community, and they're very highly specialized, much like your store.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yes, that is absolutely true.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And you're really one of a kind.
- 4:11Speaker 2: So if folks want to come by, they can take
- 4:15Speaker 2: the Johnstone Street entrance and you're straight right.
- 4:18Speaker 3: There, straight to Early Bird Market.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And if you want to take Frank Phillips, you just
- 4:22Speaker 2: kind of walk through, walk.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Right through Bambinos, grab a sandwich and come hang out
- 4:26Speaker 4: with me.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Cool. They know what's going on.
- 4:30Speaker 2: But this is really something else that if you're looking
- 4:32Speaker 2: to perhaps you know, get yourself a little healthier, eat
- 4:37Speaker 2: a little bit better. It doesn't get any healthier or
- 4:40Speaker 2: better and at the early bird market.
- 4:42Speaker 3: It's true, and I kind of want to piggyback off
- 4:44Speaker 3: of that just.
- 4:45Speaker 1: A little bit, please do for you.
- 4:48Speaker 4: I also have started a series a couple of months
- 4:50Speaker 4: ago and I've been tweaking it a little bit and
- 4:53Speaker 4: you can find it on Facebook and everything, and I'm
- 4:56Speaker 4: going to keep on adding to it. And it's called
- 4:58Speaker 4: the Food Without Fear Series, and what it does is
- 5:02Speaker 4: it specializes in bringing up allergy or dietary problems that
- 5:09Speaker 4: people might face. Like my daughter has alpha coal, which
- 5:12Speaker 4: is a food born or a tick born illness. Whenever
- 5:15Speaker 4: you get bit, it makes you really sick. You get
- 5:17Speaker 4: allergic to mammalian products. So she can't eat anything from
- 5:22Speaker 4: a cow, a pig.
- 5:24Speaker 3: All she can eat.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Is poultry items or fish, or we do vegan or
- 5:29Speaker 4: vegetarian items, and that includes staying away from gelatine and
- 5:33Speaker 4: other things. So there's a lot of work that goes
- 5:36Speaker 4: into making sure that her diet stays away from the
- 5:39Speaker 4: mammalian products.
- 5:41Speaker 3: So what I do is I try to pick.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Out and focus an allergy kind of like that one,
- 5:46Speaker 4: inform the community about it for a whole week as
- 5:49Speaker 4: to what it is, the things that they're trying to
- 5:52Speaker 4: do to improve fixing these.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Allergies and stuff.
- 5:55Speaker 4: What you can do to supplement if you're missing a
- 5:58Speaker 4: certain item inside of your diet. Like she can't eat
- 6:00Speaker 4: birthday cake. She can't eat standard birthday cake because there's dairy.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Inside of it.
- 6:05Speaker 4: But she can eat oat milk. She can drink oat
- 6:09Speaker 4: milk and have that turned into a birthday cake somehow.
- 6:14Speaker 4: And I have a lot of people, a lot of
- 6:15Speaker 4: vendors and makers that want to bring those items to
- 6:21Speaker 4: us for those dietary needs. So I've been working with
- 6:25Speaker 4: my vendors to be able to make that happen in
- 6:28Speaker 4: early bird markets, some specialization.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Going on there.
- 6:31Speaker 3: So I did Alpha GL, I did Celiac.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I kind of want to get more into the Celiac
- 6:35Speaker 4: one a little bit more. It is a lot more
- 6:38Speaker 4: widespread and the Alpha GL it's starting to become more
- 6:42Speaker 4: and more prevalent in our area, unfortunately, And there's so
- 6:45Speaker 4: many people that have walked in talking about it, and
- 6:47Speaker 4: I fill them one hundred percent. I'm not affected by
- 6:51Speaker 4: it myself physically, but.
- 6:53Speaker 3: My child has it.
- 6:55Speaker 4: So I very much want to try to be the
- 6:59Speaker 4: person that connect everyone with food that they're able to eat.
- 7:01Speaker 4: And the food that they miss have a substitute for
- 7:05Speaker 4: them to be able to eat that as well.
- 7:07Speaker 1: All right, very good, Yeah, looking out.
- 7:09Speaker 3: For everybody, trying real hard.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Well, you know it takes a special heart to do
- 7:14Speaker 2: that because a lot of times in retail you're trying
- 7:18Speaker 2: to get as much as you can in and out
- 7:21Speaker 2: as fast as you can. And right now you're just
- 7:24Speaker 2: trying to find what's right for the customer, what's right
- 7:26Speaker 2: for their needs.
- 7:27Speaker 4: That's the whole point of Early Bird Market. I like, yes,
- 7:32Speaker 4: I have this business. I needed to support my family, sure,
- 7:35Speaker 4: but my heart is in it for the community.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I want to do good for the community. I always have.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to do what's right by people, and
- 7:44Speaker 4: that stands with my own moral compass and values. So
- 7:47Speaker 4: if I can do that through any my outlet and
- 7:50Speaker 4: my store, I absolutely will.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Now going back to Farmer's Market, they had such a
- 7:56Speaker 1: good day they did. You're like going to anything left over? Yes? No, souse,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you share with this.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Yes, So everyone brings food over from the farmers Market
- 8:09Speaker 4: after they're all done.
- 8:10Speaker 3: They're done yet, yes, And they had such a.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Killer day that I didn't have a whole lot of
- 8:16Speaker 4: people bringing in excess produce because they had sold so
- 8:20Speaker 4: much during the Farmer's Market. I'm on the board at
- 8:24Speaker 4: the Farmer's Market as well, so I'm very much in
- 8:26Speaker 4: the no I go and do the social media for them,
- 8:28Speaker 4: so I got to see firsthand everything that was going on.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And I'm so grateful.
- 8:34Speaker 4: I know Bortlespool Farmers Market, them and all their vendors
- 8:37Speaker 4: are all very grateful for the support the community has brought.
- 8:40Speaker 2: You know, this this whole thing that you have at
- 8:43Speaker 2: your corner and then you go down about a block
- 8:46Speaker 2: and kitty corner they.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Got their thing going on.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yes, so I can imagine darning near every Saturday that
- 8:52Speaker 2: it's nice. You're both gonna really really really excel because
- 9:00Speaker 2: they know where you are.
- 9:01Speaker 1: That's true.
- 9:01Speaker 2: They know where that is. And everybody needs a walk,
- 9:05Speaker 2: that's true.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Especially when you go to the Farmer's Market.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You're not driving, you're not driving, and we work.
- 9:11Speaker 3: It's a symbiotic relationship, you know.
- 9:14Speaker 4: I didn't want to do something that was going to
- 9:16Speaker 4: destroy what the Farmer's Market was doing. I was a
- 9:18Speaker 4: vendor at the Farmer's Market for a couple of years
- 9:20Speaker 4: before I started doing what I was doing, So I
- 9:23Speaker 4: do and whatever I did with early bird market, I
- 9:26Speaker 4: wanted to make sure that the farmer's market was also
- 9:29Speaker 4: going to excel and exceed as well.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Now you just knew in your heart of hearts that
- 9:34Speaker 2: this was going to work. Yes, and nothing stopped.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Got no, because here you are, Yep, no things.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And keep going in the place.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yes, things fall into place for me that, like I
- 9:45Speaker 4: tell everyone, things fall into my lap where I'm like, oh, well,
- 9:49Speaker 4: I guess I am going to follow this, and I
- 9:51Speaker 4: follow it all the way down the trail because in
- 9:54Speaker 4: my opinion, if something is meant for you, it's going
- 9:58Speaker 4: to make it self known, it's going to fall into
- 10:00Speaker 4: your lap.
- 10:01Speaker 3: And not everything I want has fallen into.
- 10:04Speaker 4: My lap, and that just means that's not the path
- 10:06Speaker 4: for me. But whenever I have a clear idea of
- 10:09Speaker 4: what I'm doing and it falls into my plate into place,
- 10:13Speaker 4: I follow it.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Well, you know, you do have like teas and coffees,
- 10:17Speaker 2: but they're not the what you would see at a
- 10:20Speaker 2: normal grocery store, true, or a convenience store for that matter.
- 10:24Speaker 2: It's true you have one of a kind homegrown herbal
- 10:27Speaker 2: stuff that you know, I found myself really kind of
- 10:32Speaker 2: Jones and for your mushroom coffee.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I know that mushroom coffee is amazing.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It lifts the fog.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I thought you had to always go to Colombia and
- 10:41Speaker 2: get the coffee. I had no idea that something that grows,
- 10:45Speaker 2: you know, right here, so good, good, taste.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Very similar, amazing.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yes, it is very amazing.
- 10:52Speaker 2: And then too, to lift the veil of fog right
- 10:55Speaker 2: there in the morning.
- 10:56Speaker 3: That's what I preach is food is medicine.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Yeah, if you're eating correctly, it's going it's going to
- 11:02Speaker 4: make wonder good. Yes, And like you said, the mushroom
- 11:07Speaker 4: coffee is a one of a kind. They also have
- 11:09Speaker 4: mushroom tea that is incredible. So if you don't like coffee,
- 11:13Speaker 4: if you don't like the taste or the bitterness of.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Coffee, there is a tea option.
- 11:17Speaker 4: And then all of my tea's they're all created by
- 11:20Speaker 4: someone who knows what they're doing.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you know you got to have a little infuser
- 11:25Speaker 1: you do for this.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I want you to know, because you're gonna take home
- 11:28Speaker 2: a bag of really it's nice serbal goodies, but you're
- 11:31Speaker 2: gonna need that infuser and to get that into your
- 11:35Speaker 2: your your copy. Yes, but it's all well worth it because,
- 11:39Speaker 2: like I said, it does wonders for the body.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Yes, all of them are artisanally put together. They taste amazing,
- 11:46Speaker 4: but there's also medicinally put together one. So if you're
- 11:49Speaker 4: feeling a certain way, you can come in and tell me, Hey,
- 11:52Speaker 4: I'm feeling like this, what kind of.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Tea do I need?
- 11:54Speaker 1: You've give them a couple options.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yes, yes, and we even have the infusers, so if
- 11:58Speaker 4: you do need an infuser.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yes, she's always thinking, she's always thinking. My goodness, all right, now,
- 12:07Speaker 2: do you have a website so folks maybe or a
- 12:10Speaker 2: Facebook page where folks can kind of get to know
- 12:12Speaker 2: you before they walk in.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So my Facebook page is early bird Market that has
- 12:17Speaker 4: everything in there. You're always welcome to reach out and
- 12:19Speaker 4: message me. My phone numbers on there so you can
- 12:21Speaker 4: reach out and text at any point. We also have
- 12:23Speaker 4: a website that is earlybird marketokay dot com.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And he is believe in folks.
- 12:29Speaker 2: So once you take a look at the socials or
- 12:31Speaker 2: the website and you say yeah, and you're gonna say
- 12:35Speaker 2: yeah anyway, but once you go in, you'll be a
- 12:38Speaker 2: regular real quick.
- 12:40Speaker 1: It's just one of those. It's just one of those
- 12:42Speaker 1: neat feelings.
- 12:43Speaker 2: When you walk in, you feel very very welcome, and
- 12:45Speaker 2: there's no one there who's going to try to push
- 12:48Speaker 2: it by something.
- 12:49Speaker 1: This is you're the shopper. You're in control. You control
- 12:53Speaker 1: your basket, that's right.
- 12:54Speaker 3: And I'm there to help you if you need it.
- 12:56Speaker 2: And she'll answer any question because she knows exactly what's.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Down to the inth.
- 13:04Speaker 2: And we really appreciate you being a part of the
- 13:07Speaker 2: community and the way that you are with the early
- 13:09Speaker 2: Bird market and everything that you do and want to
- 13:11Speaker 2: wish you the greatest success. I'll be down to see
- 13:13Speaker 2: you here in a little bit once we get our
- 13:15Speaker 2: little package from Collins.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Well that sounds good, all right.
- 13:19Speaker 2: The folks, you've been watching and listening to our one
- 13:22Speaker 2: on one with the pro with early Bird Market in
