- 0:15Speaker 1: If you can't get enough of Hunter and I telling
- 0:16each other's scary stories for some reason, then I'm excited
- 0:19to announce there's a new way for you to get
- 0:21extra content, and that is because of the new Creepcast Patreon.
- 0:24That is right, We now have a Patreon page and
- 0:27those who join will be able to get ad free
- 0:29uploads of the standard Creepcast episodes, exclusive content posted twice
- 0:33per month, exclusive voting power on new videos or new
- 0:37video topics, early announcements to things that we're doing, like
- 0:41perhaps maybe tours or merch drops, as well as early
- 0:45ticket access to those events. Now, to make it clear,
- 0:47nothing is changing on the Creepcast YouTube channel, Spotify, Apple podcast.
- 0:52All of that will remain the same. We're still posting
- 0:54those every week. But if you want to see some
- 0:55bonus content that only diehard fans may be interested in,
- 0:59things like Reddit ree actions or interviews with authors from
- 1:02some of the stories we read, then we'll be uploading
- 1:05those over onto Patreon once again twice a month. If
- 1:07you don't want to join and just keep watching the
- 1:09YouTube videos or listening to Spotify, then nothing has changed,
- 1:12and thank you so much for your support. But if
- 1:14you do choose to support us on Patreon and therefore
- 1:16support some of the more outlandish ideas we have for
- 1:19Creek Past in the future. Then it really does mean
- 1:21the world and hopefully we can make that five dollars
- 1:23donation worth your time. Link will be in the description.
- 1:26Thank you all for the love, and please enjoyed the episode,
- 1:29as I certainly did a little too much.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Welcome back to Greek Test.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Today we are going to do something that sounds something
- 1:38that's very familiar to us, Isaiah, which is the story
- 1:41is called we Weren't allowed to talk to women. That
- 1:44is the and I will say right off the bat,
- 1:46there is a not safe for work tag on this,
- 1:50so don't know what that's about, but super optimistic.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Great, this is this is a you.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Know, obvious well compared to anything else to say, this
- 1:59one's obviously much order than last week's episode, which was
- 2:02Mother Horse Eyms.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Eleven hours makes you say that, yeah, yeah, so just
- 2:07eleven hours.
- 2:08Speaker 3: So we are kind of just giving ourselves a bit
- 2:10of a bit of rest and recoup with this. But
- 2:13also the title's fun and also we wanted to plug
- 2:17that we do have a Patreon and we are reading
- 2:22on the Patreon we are reading a story called Blackout
- 2:25that will be available this week as well, but if
- 2:27you are interested in supporting that and some of the
- 2:29other kind of things we have going on behind the scenes,
- 2:31feel free to check it out Patreon, slash creepcast if
- 2:33you like extra content, if you want more of our
- 2:35disgusting smiles and faces Isaiah's smiles camera for a little.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Bit, We've got a bunch of like ideas for what
- 2:45we're going to do over on the Patreon. To clarify,
- 2:47nothing's changing. On the YouTube slash audio platform uploads still
- 2:50doing one a week. Nothing changes there. Just if you
- 2:52want some bonus content and also want to show some
- 2:55support for some ideas Hunter and I have in the
- 2:57future that require a little bit of an investment, and
- 3:00you can kill two birds with one stone by joining
- 3:03over there. And thank you so much to everyone that's
- 3:04already joined the support, even not having like a formal
- 3:07formal video announcement yet, it's been very cool to see,
- 3:10so thank you guys very much for that. It means
- 3:12a lot.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, no, we appreciate the support and also do just
- 3:15like a little stuff like posts and polls of like
- 3:17what he wantus to read, submissions that kind of stuff. Uh,
- 3:20and I'm sure we'll kind of knock out the kinks
- 3:22as well. But we got some fun stuff there. But
- 3:24also be sure to check us out on Spotify and
- 3:26Apple podcast. If you are an audio listener right now,
- 3:29if you're listening on YouTube, maybe consider.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Checking us out on Spotify. It helps us out.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Absolutely otherwise in that, let's get into our life.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Blow all the hold the hold I have to I
- 3:39have to make to make the joke real quick, because
- 3:42there was no chance to say. This title applies to
- 3:44both of us. Because I grew up you know, very
- 3:46like Christian, very like you know, be behavior around women
- 3:49kind of think. And you were told this because they
- 3:52had restraining orders on.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You that you know that was a hysterical joke.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Well, I had it in my head and it had
- 4:00come out at some point, so that's it was going
- 4:03to be more natural. But because you wouldn't, you wouldn't
- 4:05let me speak, I had to. I had to, you know,
- 4:08put it out there somehow.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So Isaiah, Isaiah, to yourself, read the second line of
- 4:13the second paragraph.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Along winding lineage marked with rape and slavery.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Okay, okay, well I said, read it to yourself and
- 4:20that's okay.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Well, that's that's awesome, thank you for I did not
- 4:26I did not choose today's episode. I did not pick this.
- 4:29Hunters like, hey, I've got a story for us to read.
- 4:31And the first thing I see related to the story
- 4:33is that that's sorted.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I chortened myself. We weren't allowed to talk to women,
- 4:37I said, so I said. I said, Oh, that's silly,
- 4:41I said.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And then he read it, and then he read it
- 4:43and he got to that sentence I just read, and
- 4:45he's like, the story is about me. It's all about me.
- 4:52I can't talk to women and and those things that's me.
- 4:56Speaker 2: That's we have got to edit that out.
- 4:57Speaker 1: That's that we're not at water. Absolutely, of all the
- 5:02things I have said on the show, that is not
- 5:04even top five. No no no no no no no, no
- 5:09no no. And I'm the one who said it, not you.
- 5:11I said it about you, so about me.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I know. That's why it's even worse.
- 5:14Speaker 1: All right, you'd have nothing to do with that, okay, whatever,
- 5:18that we weren't allowed to talk to women. A Hunter
- 5:20Hancock special that Windygoon had nothing to do with written
- 5:24by Solo Solo that Hunter Handcock Special that I had
- 5:29nothing to do with. Alright, I was born into one
- 5:32of those old families of the South, the kind that
- 5:35has long silence, toppled, incaid, tempting desperately to hold itself together.
- 5:39Oh wait, we didn't. We didn't even say I feel bad.
- 5:43We didn't even say anything about the author I did.
- 5:45I said, you got me all that time, written induction,
- 5:50I said, written by you kept favorite cock Special.
- 5:54Speaker 2: That's all.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You put me in a defensive position, putting in a
- 6:00defensive position with this.
- 6:02Speaker 2: You put yourself in your own position. I didn't put
- 6:03you in that.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Now you put me in positions all the time. Let's
- 6:06get that straight. Okay, So the website is no longer up,
- 6:13but they had their own website. They haven't posted on
- 6:16Reddit in three years, but in their bio says that
- 6:19they're an aspiring author. Says they're recently cleared out this
- 6:22account of post and comments to keep it solely focused
- 6:25on my writing post. My stub wredditt our slash Solace
- 6:28is where I cross post my works and helpful links,
- 6:30so we'll leave that in the description. I also have
- 6:33a coffee you can check out or cofi. However you
- 6:36pronounce that, so Soulis wrote it. The story has eleven
- 6:40thousand up votes on our slash and no Sleep, which
- 6:42is pretty solid, So yeah, be sure to check them out.
- 6:45We'll leave them linked to the description show support for
- 6:47the author as always. And now and now that that's
- 6:50out of the way, now that Hunter's got me knocked
- 6:54off my game and flustered, we can continue. M M.
- 6:58I was born into one of those old families in
- 7:00the South, the kind that is long silence, toppled in decaid, attempting,
- 7:05desperately pulled itself together. We'd had money once, as evidenced
- 7:09by the grand old buildings had set on our property.
- 7:12But the old barns and guesthouse is set empty and abandoned,
- 7:15choked with cobwebs and weeds and Spanish moss. The forest
- 7:19had begun to reclaim the property. My family was like
- 7:22many others of its kind, the long winding lineage, marched
- 7:26with raven slavery and pain. But one thing set us apart.
- 7:30There were no women in my family. I had no mother,
- 7:33no sisters or grandmothers. Every member of my family was male.
- 7:38Speaker 3: No Isaiah Dee, do you think that we're going into
- 7:41egg territory.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You'd like that one, don't you? Some men laying eggs man.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Kind of Oh, little dinosaur men running around the South,
- 7:56good for one.
- 7:57Speaker 1: That's what we are, thank you. My wife was a
- 7:59front to keep appearances up. But I think the idea
- 8:06is it's going to be some kind of ritual brings
- 8:08the guys for it or something like that. Given the title,
- 8:10we weren't allowed to talk to women now, or they
- 8:12kill women after they you know, get there, or it
- 8:15is mark not safe for work. And the horror you
- 8:17picked so.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Or dinosaur men, I don't think why can we never horse?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Do you think that you could never get into a
- 8:26dinosaur human Absolutely?
- 8:30Speaker 1: We absolutely had a dinosaur horror story and you hated it.
- 8:34Speaker 2: What was that one?
- 8:36Speaker 1: The Gregory eighty eight?
- 8:38Speaker 2: The Twitter arg that wasn't dinosaurs? Those are just big eggs.
- 8:41Speaker 1: No, No, it turns out to be eggs and you
- 8:43see an image of them and it's like a skull
- 8:45dinosaur face thing running around and you were mad.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Well, it must have done it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I'm saying that if we had something where they said blatant,
- 8:53blatantly they were dinosaur humanoids, do you think you couldn't
- 8:57do it?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Do you not remember that one the higins around here
- 9:01aren't real or whatever, where like people are being grown
- 9:03in eggs.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It's not about the eggs, Isaiah.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I'm saying that if it was dinosaur humanoids, That's what
- 9:10I'm saying, And it's blatantly that I'm saying, like velociraptor stuff,
- 9:14And I'm asking you a question.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And the question I'm asking is could.
- 9:18Speaker 3: You successfully do that or would it be too cheesy
- 9:21that no one would take it seriously.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I don't think you can have a legitimate threat in
- 9:30a story that you are like dinosaur human hybrids. But
- 9:33you could play into that and get like some Jurassic
- 9:36Park esque moments. I guess that could be effective.
- 9:39Speaker 2: That's unfortunate.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I think you have to lean into it, though I
- 9:42don't think. I don't think dinosaur humanoids can be taken seriously.
- 9:46Speaker 2: That's sad. I wonder if there's ever away.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I mean, I mean maybe if it's like a future
- 9:51story or an alien story or something like that. But
- 9:54I feel like when you jump the shark that much,
- 9:55you have to lean into it. I feel like there's
- 9:57some premises that are so outlandish that they don't lend
- 10:02themselves to reality. Now that doesn't mean you can't have
- 10:04creepy moments and stuff, but the overall tone of the
- 10:07story I think can't sit well in a serious note
- 10:12if the idea of it is so far fetched. Yeah,
- 10:15all right, Well, I'm trying to think if there's any
- 10:19I'm sure one will come to mind. But like, I mean,
- 10:21there's stuff with like aliens, like Alien, the movie Alien
- 10:24with the xenomorphs like that has scary moments. So yeah,
- 10:28I mean, if you're setting it's not a dinosaur exactly,
- 10:31it's not a human dinosaur hybrid. So yeah, no, no,
- 10:35I can't think of anything to counter that. Statements all
- 10:38stick by it for now. My five brothers and I
- 10:41never thought it strange. Though we were uneducated and mostly
- 10:44separated from the outside world, Our days were spent laboring
- 10:47on the decaying property, all of our efforts inevitably useless.
- 10:51When we weren't plucking weeds or were clearing out the
- 10:54decades of trash from the various buildings we played, the
- 10:57quasi wilderness of our home was a perfect stage for
- 11:00our games. My father was a kind man, but strict.
- 11:03Our self contained life came with a strange set of rules.
- 11:07There was a chapel on the property, a small light thing,
- 11:10half hidden in the woods. It was in better condition
- 11:12than anything else. Due to my father's don't care, we
- 11:15were not allowed inside the chapel without him. However, a
- 11:19padlock on the door prevented us from sneaking in. We were,
- 11:24on occasion allowed to go to town. It was a
- 11:27half hour walk through the woods to get there, and
- 11:29excursions were highly anticipated. There were conditions, though. We had
- 11:34to stick together, and we weren't allowed to talk to women.
- 11:37We could talk to men and other boys, but my
- 11:39father strictly forbade us from talking to women, girls, even
- 11:43old mates. He instructed us to say hello and good day,
- 11:47and yes ma'am and thank you ma'am, like good little
- 11:49southern boys, but other than that, not a word. This
- 11:54was weird, of course, but everyone in town seemed to
- 11:56abide by these rules as well. The women would give
- 11:59us nods and avoid us otherwise. It was so ingrained
- 12:03into our daily lives that none of us ever questioned it.
- 12:06Do you remember there was this documentary that came out
- 12:08a while back. I think it was called The wolf Pack.
- 12:13I'm pretty sure those name of it was about a
- 12:14group of boys who their father never let them leave
- 12:18their room and like their mother was out of the picture.
- 12:20I forget why, but it was like seven brothers or
- 12:23five brothers who all lived in an apartment building in
- 12:27New York and I guess they were homeschooled or didn't
- 12:31go to school or something. And once a year their
- 12:34father would like take them across the street to get
- 12:36ice cream. But other than that, they never left the apartment.
- 12:39But all they did was watch movies every day, like
- 12:43that was their only interaction with the outside world. So
- 12:46all of them talked and behaved like they were movie characters,
- 12:51like these dramatic, over the top things like they would
- 12:54all they would all. They were all like caricature cameo
- 12:57types of like some of the cool slick trickster guy. Yeah, hold,
- 13:01he said, this is called documentary. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 13:03think it's called wolf Pack.
- 13:05Speaker 3: So there's a guy who acts like Arnold Swartzenegger and
- 13:07there's a guy who asks like Danny Zuka from Greece
- 13:09and stuff.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Well, I distinctly remember all of them dressed like reservoir
- 13:13dogs character. They all love reservoir dogs. So they all
- 13:16have like nicknames for each other and wear.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Suits, mister Brown, all that kind of stuff.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, okay, So The wolf Pack is a twenty
- 13:23fifteen man, I thought this was older. Twenty fifteen is
- 13:25a twenty fifteen American documentary. It's about the Angulo family
- 13:29who homeschooled and raised their seven children, six boys and
- 13:32one girl, in the confinement of their apartment in Lower
- 13:34East Side, Manhattan. Yeah. So it's like they all just
- 13:37watch movies all the time and that's their interaction. So
- 13:39like the documentary, if I remember right, it follows them
- 13:42like going out to the real world quote unquote, like
- 13:45you know, they learn around the outside world by watching films.
- 13:48Eventually began to re enact scenes from their favorite movies
- 13:51using elaborate homemade props and costumes. Their father, Oscar, had
- 13:56the only key to the door of their sixteen story,
- 13:59four bedroom apartment. He prohibited the children or their mother, Suzanne,
- 14:03who homeschooled the children. Oh, the mother was in the picture. Okay,
- 14:05I'm misremembering parts. Except for a few strictly monitored trips
- 14:10on the nefarious streets of New York, everything changed when
- 14:14the fifteen year old Mukunda decided to walk around the
- 14:18Neighborhood in twenty ten against Oscar's instruction. So a lot
- 14:21of the movies about them like experiencing the real world
- 14:23and seeing that it's a lot more boring than movies
- 14:26make it out to be. Like every interaction they have
- 14:28with people they expect to be some big, dramatic like thing,
- 14:31but it's not, and they're kind of sad about it,
- 14:35if I remember right. Yeah, it's a very very strange movie. Anyway,
- 14:39that combined with like this just being a group of
- 14:41boys going out not allowed to talk to women, reminded
- 14:43me of that.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Okay, I can see the connection. Also, I'm very interested.
- 14:49Sorry I was reading as well. I am interested in
- 14:51watching this. I hope that one of them is like
- 14:54deeply entrenched into like everyone's like Quentin Tarantino movies. And
- 14:57then there's one guy who's like just like mean girl
- 15:00like I like her, Like.
- 15:03Speaker 2: That's it. I deuced Bigelow, Maligglow.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I love Nicholas Sparks that can't get enough of it.
- 15:16Uh this this video seems this documentary seems one hundred
- 15:19percent like something you'd cover in a pop and meat
- 15:21video like that, it wasn't going to work forever. Of course.
- 15:25My oldest brother, Jamie started making eyes at the pretty
- 15:28girl who worked at the drug store ice cream counter.
- 15:31She made eyes back. Soon he was sneaking off to
- 15:34be with her. During our visits, he would leave my
- 15:36brothers and I at the drug store at the park
- 15:38bind our silence with penny candy and ice cream. Jamie's
- 15:42little twists didn't last long, though. Laslow, the second youngest,
- 15:45had always been loose slipped. One day, when we came
- 15:48back from town, our father asked us what we did.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Jamie snuck off.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Laslow blurted, he always goes and sneaks off to see
- 15:57that ice cream girl.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Pause. Face grew very pale. He turned to Jamie and
- 16:02seized him by the shoulders. Is that true, he asked,
- 16:06in a voice that was much too quiet.
- 16:09Speaker 2: You're seeing a girl.
- 16:10Speaker 1: A tense silence hung over us. Jamie opened his mouth,
- 16:14closed it.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Jamie, come join me on my porch.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Paul said icily. My father never hit us. I want
- 16:22to make that clear, But when he was truly angry
- 16:25or upset, he had a way of talking that cut
- 16:28you to the bone. It made you feel like absolute dogshit.
- 16:32When I was really little, got in trouble, I would
- 16:34hide and cry for hours. Afterwards, consumed by guilt, Jamie
- 16:38and Paul went onto the porch. The rest of us
- 16:41dispersed throughout the house. Happy mood of the day soured
- 16:45for a couple of weeks. Afterwards. We beat on Laslow
- 16:47especially hard and gave him the worst roles in our games.
- 16:51After that, he mostly kept his mouth shut. Jamie returned
- 16:54with the pale face. He didn't talk to any of
- 16:56us until the morning, where he tried to act like
- 16:58nothing had happened. Caught him alone that day, I tucked
- 17:01on his sleeve and asked.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Him, what did Paul say to you the other night.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Jamie looked down at me. His face suddenly seemed very old.
- 17:09He gave me a weak smile and tossled my hair.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Not your business, don't worry about it.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I wasn't in the habit of displeasing my older brother,
- 17:18so I went along with my life. Next time we
- 17:21went to town, the ice cream girl battered her eyes
- 17:23at Jamie, but he stared straight away from her if
- 17:25she frowned. Sadly, he wasn't as nice as us after that.
- 17:29There's much else to say of my childhood. He was unique, surely,
- 17:33but we had always lived our lives that way, and
- 17:36I was not questioning the type. Our existence continued rather
- 17:40uneventfully for years. My brother and I cleaned old houses
- 17:44that would never be occupied, and we did yards that
- 17:47would never be used. Forrest grew in faster than we
- 17:50could pluck. Then came the day when Jamie turned eighteen.
- 17:54Birthdays were frequent in a family of seven, but turning
- 17:56eighteen that was special, according to Paul. On the special day,
- 18:01Paul got us all up early and scrubbed our faces
- 18:04with a spitwet cloth, made us put on our best clothes,
- 18:08moth eaten from this use. He gave Jamie one of
- 18:11his old suits and it hung baggy on his thin frame,
- 18:14and we gathered in the chapel. Inside, the air was
- 18:18still and silent. I remember feeling disappointed, Hunter, I have
- 18:25terrible news what all? So I was recording this whole time,
- 18:30but I accidentally had display capture opens, so I was
- 18:34not recording my camera until this moment.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Uh, you're you're going to be in blackness.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Then my friend, just just like my Cara, went out.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but whatever image you use of me, I just
- 18:52asked that it's not what the kind of I asked
- 18:56the editor that it's not the kind of image hunter
- 18:58would want to use of me. Okay, all right, whatever, Well,
- 19:03there's nothing I could do. It's my fault, I guess. Okay. Anyway,
- 19:06Hi everyone, first time for the video. Okay. I remember
- 19:12feeling disappointed at the side of the perfectly normal interior.
- 19:16I always expected there to be some great, terrible secret
- 19:18that my father was guarding it. It was just an old chapel.
- 19:22We sat in the front pew, all in a row.
- 19:24Paw and Jamie hung back at the door. They exchanged
- 19:27some quiet words and then began to walk. They marched
- 19:31arm in arm, staring stiffly ahead. They stepped in time
- 19:35to some silent rhythm. Slowly they made their way up
- 19:38the aisle. My father bent behind the pulpit. The sound
- 19:41of creaking wood broke urse silence. It opened a trap door. Pawn, Jamie,
- 19:47still arm in arm, send it into the door downstairs.
- 19:51We couldn't see from our angle, my brothers and I
- 19:53said uncomfortably in the pew, restless but quiet. I felt
- 19:57a strange swelling sensation, like some beeing enormous was happening
- 20:01that I couldn't comprehend. I channeled this by plucking wildly
- 20:05of loose threads my ill fitting pants. My brothers and
- 20:08I said nervously for a while, until Paul emerged again alone,
- 20:13shut the trap door behind him.
- 20:14Speaker 2: WoT him to go home.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Boys.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I wanted to ask where Jamie was, but my tongue
- 20:19felt heavy. Instead, I fell into step behind him. We
- 20:22made a solemn procession back to the rotting mansion where
- 20:24we lived.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Jesus, they didn't even take him, didn't even take Jamie
- 20:28back with him.
- 20:29Speaker 1: They left him.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah, they just left open the trap door, and he's like,
- 20:34all right, well back home, boys.
- 20:37Speaker 1: That would kind of there. I mean, that's freaky. They
- 20:40got it's the building that their entire life has been
- 20:43hyped up, but they can never go in. And then
- 20:45they go in, your oldest brother goes down the stairs,
- 20:48and then all right, that's it.
- 20:51Speaker 3: And only only your fucking snaggle tooth dad comes back out.
- 20:56Speaker 2: That would that would that would bum me out. That's
- 20:58a bit of a bummer.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Uh, seeing your brother lost the there like chapel. Yeah,
- 21:04that's kind of sad. Pal, I'm so depressing, feel batter
- 21:11about it?
- 21:13Speaker 6: Can I tell you a secret. I'm in desperate need
- 21:16of medical attention and care. I'm so old, fat, and
- 21:19I'm faring apart at the seas. But I don't know

- 22:32Speaker 1: Jamie was there the next morning, story in as a
- 22:34bad next to mine. We all scrutinize him for some change,
- 22:38but he was the same. Jamie had always been the
- 22:41only answer to our questions we received was a hard
- 22:44sock in the arm, and we bothered him too much.
- 22:46A few months later, Bob came into our room in
- 22:48the middle of the night. I'd been lying awake, but
- 22:51I pretended to sleep as he quietly roused. Jamie let
- 22:54him out the door. I dozed very lightly, only to
- 22:57be reawoken when I heard them coming back up the stairs.
- 23:00Jamie made his way to his bed slowly the faint moonlight.
- 23:04I could see that his shoulders were shaking, crawled under
- 23:07the covers. I could hear the muffled sound of him sobbing. God.
- 23:11Uh oh.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I'm like wondering, do you think it's gonna be something
- 23:14where it's like you can't talk to other women because
- 23:17maybe this entity or something will get jealous.
- 23:19Speaker 2: It could even be like.
- 23:20Speaker 1: A yeah, it could be It could also be like
- 23:26maybe maybe they're not actually a family. Maybe it's like
- 23:30the dad has these boys captured or kidnapped, or they're
- 23:35part of some order or something.
- 23:37Speaker 2: They could very well not be his.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and they just think they are, and when they
- 23:41turn eighteen they're yeah, don't know, part of some ritual,
- 23:44forced to be a part of something. But I do
- 23:46think it involves female figures, like a wife entity or
- 23:50a mother entity. Mother seems more right because it's like
- 23:52a family dynamics. Yeah, or it could just be a
- 23:55human trafficking operation. That would be swell, that'd be very
- 23:58fun and happy. It also thought it was weird that,
- 24:02despite there being seven of them, right, they all live
- 24:05in the same room. You know, like it's a mansion,
- 24:09but they all sleep in one place. That's kind of odd, right.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I mean kind of I mean even like old Southern
- 24:15houses that were built to have like multiple generations of
- 24:18families live in them.
- 24:19Speaker 2: So true.
- 24:20Speaker 3: So I whatever I'm thinking here is he's prepping his
- 24:23sons for probably what the dad had to do when
- 24:26he was younger as well. I'm just wondering what that
- 24:29I keep saying entity. It could be nothing down there,
- 24:31but or not not nothing but I mean.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Natural exactly.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm tracking. After that, Jamie was different.
- 24:40He was withdrawn and angry, stopped playing with us, and
- 24:43it was quick to yell there's an angry tension between
- 24:46him and Paul. Even as young as I was, I
- 24:49knew the change had something to do with that strange
- 24:51place in the chapel. I wouldn't have to wait long
- 24:55to find out the secret of our family. After all,
- 24:57I was the second oldest. My birthday came that November.
- 25:01I remember every second of that day. Paul woke me
- 25:04before my brothers. This is also a fun dynamic where
- 25:07like we see all the things that happened to Jamie
- 25:09and now it's like, okay, now our narrator is going
- 25:11to go through it. Whatever.
- 25:12Speaker 3: It was kind of even more tortuous if you think
- 25:14about it. You see something, Yeah, you see your brother
- 25:18go through all that stuff, right, and you know that
- 25:19you're like, Okay, well that happened on at birthday. That's
- 25:21going to happen to me in this November. That'd be
- 25:24that would be a bit torturous.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Paul woke me before my brothers. He brought me into
- 25:29the master's suite, where he spent the nights of his
- 25:31lonely existence. The room might have once been grand, but
- 25:35now the walls were ashy with a cigarette smoke, and
- 25:37it smelled like stale living. The bed sheets were rumpled
- 25:40on only one side. Made me sad to think of
- 25:43Paul's sleeping alone every night in that huge, moth eat
- 25:46in bed. Paul dressed me in the same suit that
- 25:48Jamie had worn. Fit me a little better. This feels
- 25:51very not not mare before Christmas. What's the one where
- 25:56they're all dead the corpse is bride. This feels very corpses,
- 26:00like all them in, like the rot, the underground area,
- 26:02stuff like that. It's almost like they're all dead. It
- 26:05fit me a little better. I was fuller and shorter
- 26:07than he was. I looked in the mirror and felt
- 26:10a flash of pride. I was a proper gentleman for once,
- 26:14like those clean cut men in the old magazines we
- 26:16sometimes found while cleaning, no longer a dirty face. Little
- 26:19boy paused that back after fixing my tie, his eyes shining,
- 26:24harsh line of his mouth wobbled as he rubbed his
- 26:26thumb across my cheekbone.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I'm so proud of you.
- 26:31Speaker 1: He said, and hugged me. My chest swelled with warmth
- 26:34and pride. We walked through the woods to the little
- 26:37white chapel. It was cool. The woods were alive and
- 26:40red and orange. My brothers scattered in the pews while
- 26:43Paw and I waited outside the doors. Looped his arms
- 26:46through mine and looked at me. Just follow my lead,
- 26:49he murmured, Pat of my arm. His words soothed me.
- 26:53Doors of the chapel swung open at their own, and
- 26:55the sound of the church bells echoed through the woods.
- 26:58Bowed the rusty bell, and the tower set still. But
- 27:01I wasn't afraid. So you can hear the church bells,
- 27:05but they're not from It doesn't or it seems supernatural.
- 27:08It's not coming from the actual bell on top of
- 27:10the church. Okay, Pap walks me down the aisle towards
- 27:13the empty pulpit. We walked in time to the toll
- 27:15of the bells. Something I realized only that the two
- 27:18of us could hear. Oh God, My brothers whispered and
- 27:21fidgeted in the pew. Jamie said on the far end
- 27:24staring straight ahead, sized, dull, backstiff. We ascended beyond the
- 27:30pulpit lay the secret trap door, ancient, moldered. I gave
- 27:34the rusted brass ring a mighty pull, and it opened
- 27:37with a creek. Ors lay a stone staircase riddled with
- 27:41cracks and dappled with moss and mushrooms. Shallow stairs led
- 27:45into the dark. For the first time that day, I
- 27:48felt something other than anticipation and pride. I was afraid,
- 27:53but I think looking back that I would have been
- 27:55unable to leave by tried m pawn and I walked
- 27:59careful down the stairs, still held tight to my arm.
- 28:03We emerged into an earthen tunnel, tall enough for us
- 28:06to walk upright, though roots from the ceiling brushed our heads.
- 28:09For a moment we stood still. There was a strange
- 28:13sputtering sound, and a breeze blew from the darkness ahead.
- 28:18That should have been impossible, as the tunnel seemed to
- 28:20only go deeper into the ground, But as the breeze came,
- 28:24so did light. Alcoves have been scooped into the earth,
- 28:27and walls and tins of candles suddenly burst to life
- 28:30in their wax filled recesses. I jumped as the sudden
- 28:34light revealed hundreds of moss. They took off, excited by
- 28:37the flame. Their soft wings flapped and brushed against my cheek.
- 28:41Spawn and I walked down the tunnel. My apprehension grew
- 28:44started shaking. Pau stood resolute by my side, its present steadying.
- 28:49I don't know how long we walked in silence. The
- 28:51tunnel was not without its own sound, the pop fat
- 28:54from the candles, the drip of moisture from the ceiling,
- 28:57the tamping of our shoes, and the fluttering of mothway
- 29:01I landed on my shoulders in my head bounced off
- 29:03of my face often. I wanted to ask Paul where
- 29:06we were going, but and again he stayed silent. Soon
- 29:11I became aware of a faint, sweet smell. Almost at
- 29:14the same time, the candle light revealed a door. Moss
- 29:18were clustered around it, so thickly that it appeared the
- 29:21frame was made of a canvas of pale, shivering wings.
- 29:24Paw turned to me flickering candle light, olives of his
- 29:27face were cast in sharp relief. He looks more like
- 29:30an ape than a man. This is where I leave you, son,
- 29:34He said, put his arms on my shoulders.
- 29:37Speaker 5: Don't be afraid.
- 29:39Speaker 2: You won't be here, I promise.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Just do what nature tells you to do.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Oh no, hunter.
- 29:47Speaker 3: This so then he so he leaves, He's gonna leave
- 29:50him here. And that's what happened on Jamie's birthday as well.
- 29:52But I'm wondering, Yeah, nature, Yeah it's gonna be it
- 29:55might be, might be a it's kind of I really
- 30:11loved all the descriptive stuff of like the moth wings pattering,
- 30:15the like dry I just imagine like little droplet sounds,
- 30:18you know, like the moisture dropping from this tunnel, and
- 30:22even just like the fire, like the wick burning and
- 30:24dancing so quiet in the in the tunnel that I
- 30:28just that description was really nice because it really put.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Me like it sunk me in, like wrapped me like
- 30:32a blanket.
- 30:33Speaker 1: It was really good. The writing is great, like the
- 30:36quality of writing, measured tones and stuff. Awesome nature. Though.
- 30:43What it's really funny is as soon as you hear
- 30:45nature in that context, the first thing you go to
- 30:47is in the jungle. So I can only imagine that
- 30:50that is what plays in your head. Never you saw
- 31:05that I was shaking and they let his hand on
- 31:07my face.
- 31:09Speaker 5: This is our family's legacy. Eli Jamie did this. I
- 31:13did this, My father before me did this. It's as
- 31:17old and ancient as our blood. Old. Even nothing's going
- 31:21to harm you.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Okay, I choked out. My father smiled wayley and turned
- 31:26and left me before the door. He disappeared back the
- 31:29way we came, and I was alone. Cautiously pushed open
- 31:35the stone door. The moss fluttered away from it, forming
- 31:39a cloud, and I had to bat a way to see.
- 31:42Chamber that I emerged into was huge. The walls were
- 31:46lined with hundreds of alcoves with candles burning bright. More
- 31:49candles were spread across the floor. Across from me, there
- 31:54was a great white bed, oh no, surrounded by gossamer curtains.
- 32:00The sweet smell was overpowering, undercut by something primal and funky,
- 32:04like body odor, dirty pussy. Then the bed moved from
- 32:10midside unfolded pairs of strange appendages. I struggled to comprehend
- 32:16what I was seeing. They were arms, human arms ending
- 32:21in human hands, but they bent in too many places,
- 32:26and they were too long and pale. Long tendrils like
- 32:31feathers flared from their elbows. It wasn't a bed a shit,
- 32:37it was a person, perhaps in the loosest sense of
- 32:41the word. Its body was huge, white and bloated. Fuck
- 32:45but I thought were pillows were actually huge, penduless breasts,
- 32:50pair of nipples. The swell, the swell of the beds
- 32:54comforter was a huge stomach sagging down to the ground
- 32:57in ripples of white flesh.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Dude, imagine your dad drops you off in the first
- 33:03day to get your life. It was this giant, like
- 33:06fluffy pillow. Fuck monster. Do you think that's wait so wait,
- 33:13so he's like, hey, I had to do it. Paul
- 33:16had to do it, Grandpa, grandpa bing had to do it.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Did you know it's funny? You know what's funny about this?
- 33:24Last week was my episode?
- 33:27Speaker 2: It was it was it was my episode.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 1: It was ridiculously long. It was about the CIA and
- 33:35God and giants and all that stuff. Went on for
- 33:39eleven hours, like up my alley. This one it's an
- 33:43hour and a half. Probably. It's about a giant bed
- 33:48woman that these guys are forced to pair with, like.
- 33:56Speaker 3: A seriously, don't talk to no broads when you're out
- 33:58and about you're upset.
- 34:00Speaker 1: The pillow woman, you get to do a funny accent.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I love it. This is this is definitely my kind
- 34:06of episode.
- 34:07Speaker 1: This is your kind of yeah yeah, one one for them,
- 34:12one for me kind of thing.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Also like a body horror monster.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Like even the way that he described her arms so
- 34:17far disjointed, like I'm I'm imagining like multiple jointed arms,
- 34:22Like it's like bending and like all kinds of weird shit.
- 34:24At first, it was like it was like a spider
- 34:26legs or something, as is how I kind of pictured
- 34:29the arms at first, you know what I mean?
- 34:30Speaker 1: Like the bed itself is a whole person. Ye, yeah, yeah,
- 34:34this sounds like something you would make for one of
- 34:38your like a Margaret kind of thing, like one of
- 34:42your popa meat house creatures. Right, it's an entire bed,
- 34:45but the bed is a thing like a person.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 1: As I watched a pair of the arms reach you
- 34:51gently part gossamer curtains like a bride lifting a veil
- 34:55its face, how to describe its face? Once cleaning trash
- 34:59out of I found an old china all. It had
- 35:02a puffy, exaggerated expression of innocence, though time had worn
- 35:06the paint from its face and gave it only the
- 35:08barest imitation of humanity. The creature's face looked like that doll,
- 35:13but its eyes were large and bulging and completely black.
- 35:16God fuck that dude, that's terrifying.
- 35:21Speaker 2: I hate that it's even a kind of a human
- 35:24esque face. That makes it worse.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and I imagine it where the headboard would be,
- 35:29you know, hmm, like linged up looking at him. It's
- 35:33like these dark black eyes. Yeah. Most notably of all,
- 35:37from its forehead spreaded a pair of long, feathery antenna
- 35:41They were as long as its arms, reaching towards the
- 35:44high ceiling. They waved back and forth gently like ferns.
- 35:49So I took it in, stunned by the wrongness of
- 35:52it all. Creature smiled at me. It's pale, fleshy lips parted,
- 35:57revealing a tripping black mouth with a note teeth, and
- 36:01then it spoke, No sweet and ice, it said. The
- 36:06voice was so wrong. The inanittation of words were clearly English,
- 36:11but the voice feminine, but it had a weird buzz
- 36:14to it and a thick quality, like someone speaking with
- 36:17their throat blocked. I was somehow able to find my
- 36:19own voice.
- 36:21Speaker 2: What are you?
- 36:23Speaker 1: How do you know my name. Strange buzzing and clicking
- 36:26noise came from the creature. The fat on its body
- 36:30rolled like waves, and the toothless mouth gaped wider. It
- 36:34was laughing.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I mean you, you are the fruit of my loins.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I bore with your brothers, and your father, and your
- 36:43father's father and.
- 36:45Speaker 2: His father before him.
- 36:47Speaker 5: I know every interview or fresh for it grew and
- 36:51she painted within me. Oh, time has come for you
- 36:55to give, to give of yourself so I may have
- 36:58your son.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Dude, Oh that dude, imagine his mother.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Imagine having your imagine having the fuck your mom, grandma
- 37:15and great grandma.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Dude. It's like a giant It's like a giant insect.
- 37:20It's like a giant brood mother with the antenna and
- 37:23the shape of it and everything like that. It's like
- 37:26it's like this alien that maybe like way back in generations,
- 37:30like convinced the first member of the family and then
- 37:32threatens them if they ever leave from it. So it's
- 37:35like using them to grow people. Oh huh uh, I understood.
- 37:43Almost immediately. I felt a mix of horror and revulsion,
- 37:47but it was far off suppressed. The sweet smell filled
- 37:51my nostrils, made my head swim my skin was hot
- 37:54and itchy, and the ill fitting suit. Oh, making them
- 37:58wear a suit like it's a like it's a wedding,
- 38:01like they're the groom.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Do you think this has anything common, this has anything
- 38:04to do with like the incestuous nature of Southern.
- 38:08Speaker 1: May can be a commentary on that, Like I'm wondering
- 38:12Southern aristocracy, like even the way like this like cousin
- 38:16marriage and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, maybe that could
- 38:19that could be the idea that. And it's also like
- 38:22there's kind of this theme that's floated around about like
- 38:25the rot of the family, like the houses decrepit, the
- 38:28forest is trying to reclaim it, almost embodying the forest,
- 38:31as if the forest is trying to do a justice
- 38:33by getting rid of the property. And he says at
- 38:36the beginning it dates back to slavery, right, So it's
- 38:38like there's been such great sins committed by the lineage
- 38:41of this family. It's like everything around the family is
- 38:45trying to do away with it. The house is trying
- 38:47to rode away, the forest is trying to overtake the property.
- 38:49And now we have a physical embodiment of the rod
- 38:52in the family in this incestuous bug underneath the property
- 38:57that they that birth this entire generation and the generations
- 39:01before it. Yeah, it's yeah. I think that's fair to say.
- 39:07There's like a statement they are being made about it. Yeah.
- 39:09I should have been terrified. I should have been disgusted.
- 39:13I am in retrospect, but I was under the spell
- 39:16of the creature, scent of its pheromones too powerful for
- 39:19my brain to comprehend. At that moment, I knew that
- 39:22my body served a singular purpose, and I knew what
- 39:25that purpose was. Then I was before the creature. So
- 39:29many arms petted my hair, my body, my face, and
- 39:33the soft feathers tickling me. It cooed and spoke to
- 39:37me as I climbed on top of it, my body
- 39:40sinking into its soft and yielding flesh. I lay on
- 39:45its stomach. Its bosom is my pillow, lying against its skin.
- 39:50Though it was tacky like dough, I felt a comfort
- 39:54I had never known, nor ever known. Since I was safe,
- 40:00I was swaddled, I was loved. It wrapped its spindly
- 40:04arms around me. It's buzzing words of encouragement burrowing into
- 40:11my brain like worms. Ah, It's like a mother and.
- 40:22Speaker 2: We're pretty gross.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I'll say I had a pretty stern stank face right there.
- 40:30Speaker 1: This is this is cosmic punishment for me making goth
- 40:34mommy jokes for so long. It's like, oh you like that?
- 40:38Is that what you want? Okay? Here you go. It's like, okay,
- 40:40I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm tapping out right now. I
- 40:43regret it. And then I began to move my hips
- 40:48and I was in heaven. You know, boy, Shakira, the
- 40:53hips don't lie, not to encourage you, but the bed
- 41:00bug thing is singing that the whole time.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Okay, actually, I think I love Shia, dude, any I
- 41:14honestly probably getting with the bed monster if it was
- 41:15fucking singing Shakira.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I'll spare you the mechanical details of that coupling. Me
- 41:23recalling having sex with a moth monster who was also
- 41:27a oh feathery antenna, yeah moth duh, Yeah, a moth
- 41:31monster who was also apparently my mother and grandmother is
- 41:34just as traumatizing as you reading about it. But what
- 41:37I must say is that I have never felt pleasure
- 41:40like that, since I have never once felt so loved,
- 41:45so held and so safe. I know now that I
- 41:48wasn't in my right mind, and recalling it makes me nauseous.
- 41:52There are still nights I jolt a weight, feeling a
- 41:54ghost of that heavenly pleasure. For a moment, I grieve
- 41:59that I'll never feel it again.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Damn.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I don't know how long I was in that chamber
- 42:04with that thing. I vaguely remember dressing myself slowly, still
- 42:09drunk from the pheromones in the air. I remember the
- 42:12creature rubbing its belly.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Bruh, yeah, definitely. Oh boy left some sour dough in
- 42:21the oven when he left, for sure.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Oh god, damn.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I remember the creature it's belly as I left, followed
- 42:38by a cloud.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Of moths, little little easy bake oven. Shut up, you're
- 42:46awful called it, called that monster bed Crocker, No, go.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Ahead, this is so up your al I love it.
- 42:57Speaker 3: This element, I will say to the the idea like
- 43:02the description that I thought was fucking revolting and awesome
- 43:06was him saying that the skin felt like dough.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Like you whenever you touched dough, and it's like kind
- 43:11of sticky. Oh like that.
- 43:13Speaker 1: It's soft, it's like a cloud, but when you try
- 43:16to pull your hand back out, it sticks to you
- 43:18and you realize it's kind of sandy almost.
- 43:21Speaker 2: And the whole time it just has these words of
- 43:22encouragement the entire time. How fuck does that?
- 43:26Speaker 1: Oh gosh ooh, the motherly thing with it and like
- 43:29its shape and like you sink into the stomach of it,
- 43:33all those things combined, Oh oh god. Oh okay. You
- 43:41know this is also payback because last week I was
- 43:43listening back to the Mother Horse Eyes episode and there's
- 43:45so many parts where it's me like nerding out about
- 43:47biblical stuff and you're just like, okay, And now this
- 43:50is payback because you get to be hype and I
- 43:52get to like, I feel like I'm going to throw up.
- 43:55Speaker 3: I legitimately the entire time been sitting here, I've been
- 43:58thinking about like what moth pheromount like, what moth pussy
- 44:01pheromones smell like?
- 44:02Speaker 2: Dude, I was like, I mean, but that's like, it's
- 44:07such a it's such an interesting descriptive where I was
- 44:10just the whole time, I was just like cinnabon, for sure.
- 44:12Speaker 3: I was like, ibut, cinnamon rolls, a little bit of
- 44:15icing on top of that. Well, he prepared the icing.
- 44:18He was he said there he was talking about.
- 44:19Speaker 1: It, and there there you go with you, you being you.
- 44:23Speaker 3: Come on, man, come on, do you think that actually
- 44:28kind of be like would almost be like having sex
- 44:30with the Pillsbury dope boy?
- 44:32Speaker 2: Okay, actually that's literally would be like what.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Giggling and ship you don't you don't see a little
- 44:39motherfucker anymore, do you?
- 44:40Speaker 2: There's no commercials of that little son of a bit,
- 44:43even though.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Fucking laughing you touching his belly.
- 44:49Speaker 1: You walk into the room. That's the noise it makes.

- 46:23to ag One for sponsoring the show. We are now
- 46:26back to the episode. I slept dreamlessly for hours and hours.
- 46:30Over dinner, I made eye contact with Pause. I was
- 46:33shoveling spaghetti into my mouth. He beamed at me proudly,
- 46:36and I felt good. Jamie was looking at me also.
- 46:40He didn't return my smile. His mouth was now permanently
- 46:44set at Graham line. Seeing encounter with the moth creature
- 46:47faded like a dream. Jamie continued to bother me. Had
- 46:51any experience the same? Heavenly pleasured I'd had. Sure, there
- 46:55were lingering dregs of fear even discussed at what I'd done,
- 46:58But if everyone in our family had dined it, what
- 47:00was arm It was our legacy after all. More time passed,
- 47:05my confusion turned to anger. Jamie barely interacted with us anymore.
- 47:09Did you think he was better than us? Did he
- 47:11think that his feelings made him separate from the family?
- 47:14Somehow I never got the chance to confront him. He
- 47:17came to me. It's about five months after my eighteenth birthday.
- 47:20Life had continued as normal, but one morning when we
- 47:23woke up, there was a strange feeling in the air.
- 47:27I made a comment about it to my brothers, but
- 47:30they just looked at me blankly. So we went about
- 47:32our chores. I felt strangely happy. We were walking out
- 47:36to one of the old guest houses when Jamie grabbed
- 47:38me roughly by the arm and pulled me away. He
- 47:41was nearly nose to nose with me, and his eyes
- 47:43were bright and wild.
- 47:45Speaker 2: You listen, good night, Eli. Why the hell do you
- 47:47think Paul never let us talk to the girls in town.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I looked at him in confusion.
- 47:53Speaker 6: The thing in the chapel, it doesn't want outside competition.
- 47:58Speaker 2: It gave birth to all of us, boy, but it
- 48:01can't control the ginger of the baby.
- 48:02Speaker 4: It maked, Why do you think there's no girls in
- 48:05our family? What do you think happens when one is born?
- 48:08Speaker 1: Mm? See, I assumed it was all automatically. Boys, that's interesting.
- 48:12The beginnings of dread began to creep up from my stomach.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Yours is coming today, Jamie continued.
- 48:19Speaker 1: His mouth turned to a scowl. Let go of the
- 48:22bicscrip on my.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Arm, for your sake. I hope it ain't a girl.
- 48:27Speaker 1: His face fell. Oh, I wasn't so lucky that explains
- 48:32why he's shaken out of the delirium that.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Well, I'm wondering.
- 48:37Speaker 3: I'm wondering if you don't, if you don't produce a boy,
- 48:40if it fucking like mutilates you or something.
- 48:42Speaker 2: I wonder if it bites off your something like that.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I think it just kills the girls. When it gives
- 48:46birth to a girl, that kills.
- 48:47Speaker 2: It, yeah, eats it or something.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Yeah, something brutal. So that's what happened because remember Jamie
- 48:54a few several months afterwards, got let out at night.
- 48:56Then he came back different. That's what he saw. But
- 48:59it's about to be. Yeah, he saw his he saw
- 49:03his daughter slash sister in law, Yeah, slash step aunt.
- 49:11Oh oh he gave is that that would work? Step aunt? Yeah? No,
- 49:15just aunt.
- 49:16Speaker 2: You know what I said.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it.
- 49:18Speaker 2: It's just a whole plain wrong.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah. The dynamics of that are rough. Okay. Anyway,
- 49:29it's like that song on my own Grandpa, like, I
- 49:34have never heard that. I don't.
- 49:35Speaker 2: I don't know what kind of fucking backwards stuff you've
- 49:37been listening.
- 49:38Speaker 1: You ever heard that song? It's bad? The guy that
- 49:40did uh the squirrel went berserk. No, you don't know
- 49:46that one that day the squirrel went berserk in the
- 49:50first self Rochester.
- 49:51Speaker 3: This very it sounds like that's like one of the
- 49:54gayest things. On hold on, hold on in the most
- 49:57middle school way, I could say it. That is one
- 49:59of the gayest things.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Just like when the squirrel went berserved.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on, So fuckd just Gray Stevens. Stevens,
- 50:07Oh god, it's Ray Stevens. He has he has a
- 50:10song where he's explaining like he married an older lady
- 50:13and his dad married a younger girl and it turns
- 50:15out it was a mother and daughter. And then he's like,
- 50:17my cause and effect because I married her, or no,
- 50:20he has a kid with the older lady, so then
- 50:23he's married to.
- 50:26Speaker 2: No.
- 50:26Speaker 1: No, his dad has a kid with a younger lady,
- 50:30which makes that like his grand which makes that his son.
- 50:33But also his dad is a grandfather, so he does
- 50:37the math and he's like, I'm my own grandpa by
- 50:40like the cause and effect of it. Yeah, anyway, that
- 50:43is completely unimportant. But yeah, Okay, before I could say anything,
- 50:48he was gone, stalking off. After the rest of our
- 50:51brothers stood staring after him as night came my dread
- 50:55grew gon was my pleasant mood from before. Night found
- 50:59me leapless, and I stared at the ceiling for hours.
- 51:03When the door creaked open, I knew it was Pa.
- 51:06He came to my bedside and motioned for me to
- 51:08join him. We made our ways through the dark woods
- 51:11to the chapel. That bad feeling was everywhere, soaked into
- 51:15the very air. The creatures of the night were silent,
- 51:18and it was cold. Chapel stood a white smear in
- 51:21the darkness. We went inside. The floorboards seemed to vibrate,
- 51:25and when Pa opened the trap door, I heard it
- 51:29a terrible buzzing wail, full of anger and pain, punctuated
- 51:35by inhuman squeaks and growls. I had heard the sounds
- 51:39of animals and pain before. It was like some sort
- 51:41of horrible symphony of all of those cries. I recoiled
- 51:46at the sound, standing rooted to the spot. I looked
- 51:49at Paw to see if my horror was reflected in
- 51:51his face. It was to some extent, but over it
- 51:54lay of a near of hardness. I realized that whatever
- 51:57was happening was no mystery to him. He'd probably experienced
- 52:01it a hundred times before took my arm and practically
- 52:04dragged me down the tunnel. The moths were flapping around wildly,
- 52:08diving at us and bouncing off the walls. A few
- 52:11of them flew into the candle flames through feathery wings,
- 52:13burning as fast as paper. Screaming got louder. Came to
- 52:19the chamber. The creature was in the same spot, but
- 52:23this time its body was rippling like a wave. Some
- 52:27of its arms were braced on the walls and floor.
- 52:30The sweet smell was gone, replaced by that of blood
- 52:34and visceraugh. The creature's puffy doll face was twisted in
- 52:39a horrifying mask of pain and rage. Spittle flew from
- 52:43its black mouth as it wailed, the sound bouncing around
- 52:47the chamber. Its antenna swiveled wildly around its head, every
- 52:52feather twitching and shaking at the side of us. It's
- 52:56pallid face concorded further y bellowed my father's name.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Crud Lawrens, but get me on the corcions.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I was transfixed by the creature's rippling body, bile rising
- 53:14in the back of my throat. It was pushing something out.
- 53:18I realized a dark puddle was forming on the floor
- 53:21beneath it. My father moved towards the creature like he
- 53:25meant to comfort it. A pair of arms sideswiped him
- 53:28with surprising strength, sending him careening into the wall. He
- 53:32tripped over the candles. Creature let out a deep throaty
- 53:36grown his body, gave one more powerful ripple, and there
- 53:40was a wet This is so gross, And there was
- 53:46a wet noise as something dropped onto the floor of
- 53:50the cave. What lay before me was essentially a cocoon.
- 53:55It was roughly watermelon sized, white and it's glistening. It's
- 53:59fluid and the light. The creature's screams died, which were
- 54:03rattling breaths. So I watched the cocoon began to tremble,
- 54:08a tiny red fist toward its way through the gauzy membrane.
- 54:12From the whole, I heard a cry, weak and plaintive.
- 54:17It was a baby. Something came over me. I somehow
- 54:21knew that the baby was mine. I'm sure others can
- 54:24tell better stories of parential instincts kicking in, but that's
- 54:27what happened to me at that moment. While my father
- 54:30and the creature struggled to recover. I knelt down and
- 54:33began ripping the cocoon apart, trying to free the baby within.
- 54:36The cocoon had the texture of spider silk, thin and sticky.
- 54:41It dissolved in my touch. Soon the baby was free.
- 54:44Its skin was red and blotchy, and it looked like
- 54:47a lumpy potato, but its face and cry were holy human,
- 54:52and as I held it in my hands, I could
- 54:55feel the very gears of the world turning. My fate
- 54:58was changing. Oh wow, creature rasped. I looked up at it.
- 55:03Its expression had relaxed, its black eyes grown wide and shining,
- 55:07reflecting the candlelight. Santana had calmed, zooming their slow and
- 55:11gentle waving. It reached its nearest pair of arms out
- 55:15to mek it to me, demanded. I lifted the baby
- 55:19in front of me and realized with sudden dread something
- 55:22on it was missing. The baby was female. Creature's arms
- 55:27strained for the baby, and I instinctually clutched it to
- 55:29my chest.
- 55:31Speaker 8: Why yep, that eats the babies.
- 55:42Speaker 1: How messed up, dude? How it licked its lips, leaving
- 55:49behind a film of grace spit from a black tongue
- 55:52Jamie's words came back to me then, and I realized
- 55:54that he was right. POD got to his feet. He
- 55:57clutched his side, clearly hurt, and his clothes were cinge
- 56:00from candle flames.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Just give it to her son, it'll be over soothing.
- 56:05Speaker 1: I looked down at the baby was crying and squirming.
- 56:09It grabbed onto my shirt as tightly as it could,
- 56:11its little fist bawling the fabric. But the first time
- 56:14in my life, I made my own decision. I turned
- 56:18away from my family and I ran.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Gosh shit.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I held the baby tightly to my chest as I
- 56:25spread it into the tunnel. My father called after me,
- 56:28but his voice was drowned out by a buzzing whale
- 56:30that grew in volume until it seemed a physical thing,
- 56:33a wave pushing me out. Moths bounced off my face
- 56:37as I ran past the candles, they blew out, filling
- 56:40the tunnel with darkness. I thought I heard my father scream,
- 56:44a sound of terror beneath the creature's anger. I don't
- 56:47like to think about it. Left our property towards town.
- 56:50The baby's still bawling loudly. Finally I had to stop running.
- 56:54My lungs burning and my legs cramping. I'd never been
- 56:57as afraid as I was limping through that dark. My
- 57:01daughter's cries a dead giveaway to any who would follow,
- 57:05but nothing dead. I walked through the town, knocking on
- 57:09doors until someone answered. My daughter's sobs had tapered from
- 57:13a steady stream to quiet whimpers, and I knew she
- 57:16needed care. Soon the ice cream girl answered the door.
- 57:20Her hair must asleep. She took in the side of me,
- 57:23recognizing me immediately, and her eyes widened at the baby
- 57:26in my arms. Please help us, I croaked. It was
- 57:31the first time I'd spoken to a woman, really spoken.
- 57:34Shirley's family took care of me for a while. They
- 57:37taught me how to care for my daughter, how to
- 57:40change diapers and prepare formula and berber. I never left
- 57:43their house for fear of seeing my family. I was
- 57:46there for only a week or two. Then my daughter
- 57:49and I hit the road again, went from town to town,
- 57:52surviving on the kindness of strangers. It was usually women
- 57:56who ended up helping us. I met all kinds of
- 57:59women hardened by the world, bitter ones, gentle ones, fiery ones.
- 58:04It taught me about the world at all, the things
- 58:06I'd been missing. We were far enough north that I
- 58:09felt safe. I began trying to settle down. My daughter
- 58:13was growing into a healthy, fat, little toddler. You oh't
- 58:16know if I'm really afraid that the daughter is going
- 58:19to be one of those bad things.
- 58:21Speaker 2: That's what That's what she wondering too.
- 58:23Speaker 1: She was the axis on which my world turned. Everything
- 58:27I did I did for her. Eventually I named her
- 58:30Deborah Debbie for short. I found a decent job with
- 58:34on side daycare for Debbie. Back then, it was a
- 58:37little easier to provide for a child than it is today,
- 58:39I won't deny, but I still worked myself to the bone.
- 58:43It was the easiest way to chase away the shadows
- 58:45that plagued my mind. I had lovers here and there,
- 58:48both men and women, but doesn't lasted. Sex was difficult
- 58:52for me, considering what I'd been through. I always felt
- 58:55disgusting afterwards, always unable to ignore the simple fact that
- 58:58I would never feel as good as that, and that
- 59:01knowledge made me feel like a monster. Eventually I stopped
- 59:05trying to feign interest in sex, and I was happier
- 59:07for it, But it meant that I had never got
- 59:09into a real relationship. I didn't need a relationship. I
- 59:13had Debbie. As the years passed and she grew bright
- 59:16and smart and funny, shadows of my passing farther and
- 59:19farther away. But I was a fool to let myself
- 59:22be comforted by time. I cannot escape the curse of
- 59:25my blood, no matter how far I run. Yesterday was
- 59:29Debbie's fourteenth birthday day. She locked herself in the bathroom
- 59:32in the morning, crying for hours. She finally let me in.
- 59:36I could barely contain a scream because there bursting from
- 59:40my daughter's forehead was a pair of long, feathery antenna. Ah.
- 59:49Speaker 2: That was awesome. That was sick. What a great little
- 59:52ending there.
- 59:58Speaker 3: Oh that's rough, dude, such a goddamn such a short,
- 1:00:02sweet little thing. Compared to last week too, it's still
- 1:00:05packed such a great punch also too. So I'm wondering too,
- 1:00:12obviously the competition right of not wanting any female children.
- 1:00:18Do you think it was just solely so that moth
- 1:00:20creature could be the only one, or do you think
- 1:00:22it was just like or first, let me ask, is
- 1:00:24that something that moth do in general to the ether
- 1:00:26own children?
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: No? I don't. I don't think that happens.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: I'm so curious. Do you think that? Do you think that?
- 1:00:37Do you think that the moth killed the dad and
- 1:00:39the family?
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: No, I know I hold a hold on children. No,
- 1:00:43I'm crazy, Absolutely not because moth. I don't think moth
- 1:00:45eat at all. Maybe some do, but they're just the
- 1:00:48adult versions of the caterpillars that are the crystalis and
- 1:00:51then they're just normally just in moth state long enough
- 1:00:53to eat, I mean, not eat, to breed, and then
- 1:00:56they die. I'm pretty sure.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: So this is one that's continue to eat to where.
- 1:01:02Oh I wonder actually if the moth died because it
- 1:01:04was unable to eat it's young or whatever, you know
- 1:01:07what I mean.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: That's the adult moss generally do not eat much, and
- 1:01:11some species don't eat at all.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Interesting. Interesting.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: I wonder if it was just keeping itself alive through
- 1:01:17like generations of this of like the men coming back
- 1:01:21to like basically keep it alive through sex, you.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Know what I mean.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Yeah, the idea of eating the daughters is so brutal,
- 1:01:27eating their own children, and now that creates it. There's
- 1:01:30some interesting things about like, you know, he is a
- 1:01:33moth or like he's a half moth creature throughout the story, right,
- 1:01:36and now it's like you go back to the mother
- 1:01:40and you know, you give it another child that's the
- 1:01:43same way as you, and it doesn't want competition. So
- 1:01:47does that mean when his daughter gets old enough, she's
- 1:01:49also going to put out pheromones and try to convince
- 1:01:51her father to keep this lineage going that.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: And also at what point in the bloodline did a
- 1:01:58man find a giant alien moth creature underground and just it.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Sounds like, well, it sounds like it was something that
- 1:02:05came up from the dirt, like something ancient that started
- 1:02:08to like insert itself onto his family.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Also, I like the parallels earlier what they said of
- 1:02:14like the family was born on slavery, rape, and pain.
- 1:02:17Basically you could look at that like literal slaves, so
- 1:02:20you could also the family itself has been enslaved by
- 1:02:22this thing, and like is you know, unwillingly having sex
- 1:02:26with this thing and basically continue its bloodline that way,
- 1:02:31unable to actually ever have like a real human existence too.
- 1:02:34But yeah, I was curious because they said it was
- 1:02:36he was lumpy like a sweet potato.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: So I'm curious, even when it was.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: A baby, did it look normal or did it look like,
- 1:02:42you know, hasn't always been kind of a weird looking Well.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: They said it was weird, but or that the little
- 1:02:48girl was weird, but that she had a cry that
- 1:02:51was distinctly human. So I think it looked human up
- 1:02:56until it was fourteen and started growing the antenna right, Yeah,
- 1:03:00whatever way you look at this story, it's incredibly messed up. Well,
- 1:03:04from every angle, this is brutal, is rough, It.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Hurts such an interesting Also, it got us there in
- 1:03:11such a fast way, like I don't know, bought into
- 1:03:14like weird southern culture thing of like dad who like
- 1:03:18does not allow us sons to talk to women, only
- 1:03:22to find out that like basically the family survived by
- 1:03:25inbreeding with this thing that is like not it's his
- 1:03:28father's mother's father, mother's grandfather. All that kind of stuff
- 1:03:33just so fucked up and weird. Also too good for Elias.
- 1:03:37Elias is a dope character getting the fuck out of there.
- 1:03:39Also to Jamie having the.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Will yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, Elias, it's Elias my bad.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Elias is our main character.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: And then the uh and then Jamie even having the
- 1:03:51gusts just like kind of warn him as well, but
- 1:03:53obviously he had to suffer through that.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: I'm so curious if you got that.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Warning his daughter would have been eaten. Yeah, Now then
- 1:04:00it's like, okay, would have been better if she was
- 1:04:02if this is going to start again and the process continue.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: You know, I'm wondering if he because of that altercation
- 1:04:08when he's just like just think about it, because at
- 1:04:11first he was like so on board with just being like, well,
- 1:04:14this is what our family does.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: If he doesn't get that, if he didn't get that
- 1:04:18kind of interaction with his brother and that kind of perspective,
- 1:04:21do you think he would have saved his child or
- 1:04:23do you think that his fatherly instincts would have kicked
- 1:04:26in and he's just like it would have still been
- 1:04:28the same fate, you know what I mean, what do
- 1:04:30you still have taken and ran away?
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Kind of an interesting thing. Also, he has so many
- 1:04:34other brothers that I'm wondering. I'm so curious to see
- 1:04:39from the author's perspective, if like the you know, is
- 1:04:42the thing still alive?
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Is it still going on?
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: There are so many like fun little things to think about,
- 1:04:48because in this case, I loo to think that this
- 1:04:50is actually the thing that killed the creature, and now
- 1:04:52the dad and them are able to, like I don't know,
- 1:04:55live their lives normally. However, that is the dad is
- 1:04:58fucked because he's just I mean it's a lifetime.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I mean he got well, he got ripped apart. Is
- 1:05:03what sounds like. I heard my father's scream over the
- 1:05:06sound of the creature's anger. I don't like to think about.
- 1:05:08That sounds to me like, so he probably did die.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Then who knows.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Well it says earlier you you have brought me only
- 1:05:14transgressions or whatever she says, and then she year's the
- 1:05:16father's scream. So I think that means that it killed.
- 1:05:20You know.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Oh, it's kind of interesting because that means that.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Is fine, which is fine.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: That means that dad was.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: The last one to actually have a son. And then
- 1:05:29now I think what he means is you've only give
- 1:05:31me transgression. I'm wondering if it's saying like you your
- 1:05:33kids only.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Bear women women. Yeah, that's what sounds like to me. Also,
- 1:05:39this is kind of reminiscent of Tommy Taffy and that
- 1:05:42it's a father who has a curse that willingly tries
- 1:05:45to let their children get through the curse. And it's
- 1:05:48a sexual curse, funny enough, or it has sexual elements
- 1:05:52to it, and it's like we just have to maintain,
- 1:05:55we just have to, you know, get through this stage.
- 1:05:59But at least with the original Tommy Taffy, there was
- 1:06:02evidence of that family trying to stop it. Even if
- 1:06:05you know me and you made jokes about like you
- 1:06:06should have tried harder, there was some attempt to like
- 1:06:09push it back, whereas here it seems like the father
- 1:06:12was just bought into it. But at the same time,
- 1:06:14maybe the father was still under the delusion maybe you know,
- 1:06:20but he thought he needed to take care of his sons.
- 1:06:21Who knows.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: If it's all you've ever known and that's how you've
- 1:06:24been raised and stuff, I mean, what else what else
- 1:06:28would you know? I mean, is it different, yes, but
- 1:06:30at the same time, but that's just like what life
- 1:06:33has been.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Then of course you're going.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: To continue to carry on the kind of the kind
- 1:06:38of I guess, systematic fucking shit that happens in your
- 1:06:42own family, you know what I mean, My dad did this,
- 1:06:44therefore I do it. Whatever, And especially if you don't
- 1:06:46allow them to associate with anybody in the outside world,
- 1:06:50especially women, then what's the uh you know, what.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Do you expect. I don't think that. I don't think
- 1:06:55I can fault to Dad.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: I just think he's just a person that I mean,
- 1:06:58years of delusion, you know, to this point now where
- 1:07:02you have a character like Elias who's sitting there and
- 1:07:05he sees his brother Jamie talking to the other girl,
- 1:07:07Like you can tell the younger guys are interacting more
- 1:07:10than they should be with people outside of you know,
- 1:07:14the dad's reach to where that probably gave them a
- 1:07:17bit of perspective as well. So, I don't know, very interesting,
- 1:07:22like you said, though, definitely my kind of story.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: I love just weird. I'm man, I've just was.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Thinking in my head about the big pillowy kind of
- 1:07:29monster thing. Also, it just living in this like fucking
- 1:07:33underground tunnel with candles lining the wall like visually, such
- 1:07:37a fun story. Also, the author Solas did Soulis, did
- 1:07:41a incredible job with some of the descriptions, just like
- 1:07:45like even just the I'll go back. I know I've
- 1:07:46are talked about it, but I just love that descriptor
- 1:07:49of the dough skin, just that feeling of like I
- 1:07:52already know what that feels like like' and I'm just
- 1:07:54I feel like I've felt it on my hands since
- 1:07:56we've been reading this, or even a lot. Tearing open
- 1:08:00the cocoon and it's like a silk, like a spider
- 1:08:04web kind of like texture and stuff. And the sounds
- 1:08:06that would make of tearing that open super fun also too,
- 1:08:10just like, you know, this could easily be a story
- 1:08:13that you stretch out and stuff, but it was just
- 1:08:15such a fun little like almost social media post, you know.
- 1:08:19Even at the end, he's just like and and it
- 1:08:20has just that little cherry on top with the antenna
- 1:08:23at the end.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Really enjoyed it.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that killed. That was awesome.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: We like EE. We like EE.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: And it's nice to have a nice little digestible fucking
- 1:08:34a nice swift punch to the gut after a long episode.
- 1:08:38So this is just a nice little palate cleanser to
- 1:08:41kind of get us back into our normal routine of
- 1:08:43having episodes to be like two and a half.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Three hours long. It's always nice whenever you find a
- 1:08:47story that's just short and punch. You like this, really
- 1:08:50like it.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: So they have I'm looking at their stuff. They have
- 1:08:54at least two others stories posted in No Sleep. One
- 1:08:57is called Saint in a Box. That's a lot, But
- 1:09:00they had another one called Drowning Doesn't Always Kill You
- 1:09:02that was removed from No Sleep, uh knowing No Sleep.
- 1:09:05It may have been removed because they said, like, yeah,
- 1:09:07because they gave a location the fictional locations like address
- 1:09:11or something.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Like something, fucking one of the one of the giant
- 1:09:15arbitrary rules they have on their fucking submission boards.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: That's kind of it.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: If you're watching this, if you're watching this soul list,
- 1:09:22just throw it on creepcast whatever, throw it on.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Creep cast, dude, throw it on creep cast. We'll leave
- 1:09:26it up. Also, it's a great name for a story, not.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Dr Doesn't Always kill You? Pretty fun.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: Yeah, well, guys, thank you so much for listening today.
- 1:09:35I know this one was a short one. We'd, like
- 1:09:37I said, we were just trying to give ourselves a
- 1:09:39bit of time after that behemoth we recorded before.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: But this is this one turned out to be great.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Not often do you get a nice fuck fuck family
- 1:09:46moth pussy story, dude, that you know, very rarely happens
- 1:09:49in this lifetime, so we're very lucky. Uh, be sure
- 1:09:52to check us out on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and
- 1:09:55all those kind of places, and as well, if you're

- 1:10:06weekly uploads that we have.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: Here for you for free, so just let you know.
- 1:10:12Thank you so much for listening to creep Cast, and
- 1:10:14god damn it, we'll see you next week.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Bye bye. My level of discomfort and all of that
- 1:10:20was fitting compared to the level of comfort ied last week,
- 1:10:22so I guess we're even Bye.
