- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Today's guest is very special for me because I am super, super excited and have been waiting to host her for a long time.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: So this interview has been um long time in the making, and also mostly because she is such an experienced individual in the area of just skin health and the beauty industry.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: And so I'm really excited to learn from her uh mostly.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: So, you know, without further ado, I want to introduce you guys to Tammy Fender, who is the founder of obviously her own skincare line, but also has done so much in the beauty industry.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: So welcome, Tammy.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: I'm so excited to host you.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you so much.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: I'm so delighted for this opportunity as well.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: I would love to get started by really kind of diving into um what I prefaced the episode with, which is just the immense amount of experience you have in this uh beauty space and just get started with your career journey and how all of that led to creating your own line and you know, all the amazing things.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: If you could get us started.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Sure, sure.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I think for me um it's probably been a calling um since childhood, um, not even realizing it.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: But as a child, I always felt very connected to the plants.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: I was very comfortable where other kids might have been sort of running off playing um sports and games and these sort of things.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: I always felt that there was something very magical about the plant kingdom and very drawn to it.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Um and I also have always had this sort of love for helping others.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Um I just have felt that people's happiness was just something that sort of made my heart sing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: And so I recall, you know, being a little girl and often hearing from my family members, oh, she has such a kind heart and those sort of things.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: When I went to school, I did um sort of take a little bit of a dive into psychology.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: And um early on while I was in school, I began working at a cosmetic counter and um sort of on nights and weekends.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: And I think it was there that it was really interesting to me what people were buying and why they were gravitating.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: They seemed to come to these cosmetic counters and it sort of seemed to make them happy, but yet in my mind I thought, well, are they buying hope?
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Does this really work?
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: You know, what does all of this mean?
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: And and it was really pre-internet.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: So at that time, I would sort of go back at home in the evenings and kind of research what um these products were and what the ingredients were in the products.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: And of course, you know, so many of them seemed so foreign to me at that time.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: And um, and yet the company had come to me and they said, Um, we love the work that you're doing.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: You're connecting so beautifully with our client base.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Would you be interested in kind of furthering your career with us on a business path?
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: And um, I, you know, happily declined and said, No, no, I have no interest in business whatsoever.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: But what I would like to do is become an esthetician because I felt that um if I could really learn and understand the skin, then I could understand products and how um both of them sort of worked hand in hand.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And so through that um next phase in my life, I ended up having the opportunity to go to France and to um just sort of, you know, travel through through um different places in Europe and and really kind of get an understanding of that culture and the way that they viewed skincare and all of this.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And then from there, I just took this really passionate deep dive into um herbalism, botany, aromatherapy, thalassotherapy, anything that I could um sort of take just to continue to understand sort of the natural elements.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: So in many ways, I felt like the stars just aligned for me because I was so passionate about learning um for myself and really to help others.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: I love what you said earlier as well, Tammy, about you know, when you're at the beauty counter and you're like wondering why people, you know, why they came to the beauty counter and was it to buy hope?
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: And it that really hit me when you said that because that is so real and it's such a it's just such a um eloquent way of saying that because I think there is a lot of that going on in the beauty industry.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: So I want to talk to you about that um later on, but I I would love to hear more about the esthetician journey, you know, in terms of like when you were getting trained, um, were you kind of like an open like book and you know, just like ready to be molded, or did you know like to be like focused in on as far as the school?
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thank you so much.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: You know, um definitely an open book.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I I really was piecing it all together, loving everything um skin related, but at the same time, a lot of that journey through through my skincare um education was so much on ingredients and on natural herbalism.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: And so I was sort of marrying the two at a very early stage in my career.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And what did it mean to um use these sort of healing remedies that I was finding?
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And did they work or didn't they work?
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: So it was sort of unique for me, although I became a licensed esthetician, I also had some time with my husband.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Um, he was involved with a project on an outer island in the Bahamas, and so I spent some time over there with him.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: And what was fascinating is through all of my research, and you can sort of read these things over and over, and then you you're still sort of wondering, um, you know, is it effective or isn't it effective?
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: I was able to see a lot of this firsthand because we would have different scenarios on this outer island where there was really no modern hospitalization or just even just your typical drugstore, if you will, um, for any little ailment that people had.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: So they they were relying on natural remedies.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: And through my studies and practices, I had brought essential oils with me and just different herbs that I enjoyed um sort of working with and this sort of thing.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: And through um very simple practices of whatever the needs may be, we started to tap into that.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: And when I saw that, oh my goodness, these herbal remedies were actually doing what they said that you know they were meant to do, it was really eye-opening for me.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: So when I came back from the Bahamas and I was already licensed as an aesthetician, a part of my work and and how it became well known in Palm Beach was I was working a lot post-op with clients that were really either going through some kind of trauma with the skin, whether that was elective surgery or sadly it could have been chemo or radiation or any sort of thing in between.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: I was doing a lot of house calls and I would go in and work with these clients to help them to speed up the healing of the skin.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: And at the same time, I was making very simple products, you know, that I was be able to use on the skin and just to see how effective they were.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: So just fast-forwarding here a little bit, um, the entire basis of my line has been really cultivated by what I have found and seen in the treatment room.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: And I think the uniqueness to the brand is that I'm on all sides of that.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: So not only am I working in the treatment room every day and have worked over the past, you know, close to 30 years now on so many skin, I've probably have seen everything in one in one way or another, in one condition or another.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Um, I've also been able to, you know, create things based on the needs of what I am seeing.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that's I think that right there is the real um white space, right?
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: I think there's a lot of people out there right now in the industry that are, you know, I'm not taking anything away from them.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: They're licensed aestheticians, but it's really about that experience.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: And I think that there's nothing that can um, I guess, fill that void that you need.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: You need to just have experience.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: And like you said, like you need to be able to see all the different um, you know, types of skin problems.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: And it's not always going to be something that's related to, for example, acne.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: It's you know, I love that you brought up chemotherapy and I love that you brought up patients that had gone through these other, you know, medical treatments that led to skin concerns as well.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: And I I would love to talk about that a little bit more because I think that's something that uh we don't really hear a lot about in the booty industry is that this need for, you know, gentle but effective products for people who are suffering from, you know, like we said, chemo or some sort of post-surgery, you know, exposure to something, right?
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: And so I would love to talk about how when you were formulating the line, um, were these kind of the things you kept in mind?
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Like what were what were the pillars of like when you were crafting your line that you wanted to focus on?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so you know, I think just taking into consideration everything has an effect on the skin.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: The skin is our largest organ, and I like to say it's you know an eliminating organ.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: It's like our third lung and our third kidney, and we breathe through the pores and we excrete toxins through perspiration.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: And when we look at the basis of the skin and all of its functions, we also recognize that when we have emotional disturbances, things start to show up on the skin.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Um, as we know, our diet has an effect on the skin, just our our overall well-being is affected in one way, you know, or another, or the skin is affected by our overall well-being, I should say, in one way or another.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And so I always took that into deep consideration when I was working with my clients.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: And true holistic skincare is when you're looking at the person as a whole.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: What is going on emotionally?
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: What where are they physically?
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: And so um bringing into if somebody is going through a cancer treatment, and sadly, you know, I've worked with many, many, many, but I think on a happy note, we're able to see that the skin is also so regenerative.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: So we're really, you know, there's so much that you can do to feed and nourish the skin, the body, the mind, the soul, looking at it all one in the same.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: And so um, you know, that's something that has been very deeply in the DNA of what I practice every day.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: And so I hope I'm answering your question properly.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: But as I'm looking at products and I'm or ingredients, and I see, well, what, you know, what are these different ingredients that have the most soothing effects on the skin that also help to feed and nourish the tissues of the skin when you're working with some of the essences of the plant or the essential oils, which I would call like the life force of the plant.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: You also see that they do these these oils and some of these products have the ability to penetrate a little bit deeper.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: And they do work on um multi-levels, even through inhalation.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: So if I'm creating a product, I am looking at all aspects of um really bringing that nourishment back.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: I also like to say that you know, the skin, the skin needs nourishment and nutrients and oxygen to thrive.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: So anytime we're able to increase that circulation, and that could be just through gentle massage um techniques.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: We can do this at home.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: That can be through, I mean, through drinking water, of course, um, juicing, you know, all of the normal natural things that that that people realize are so important now.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: But there's so many aspects to feeding and nourishing the skin.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: And we also want to make sure that the products that we're using also help to be um nourishing and protecting.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: But as I mentioned, when when you're talking about even oxygenating the tissue, that is just increasing that blood circulation, just like you would increase exercise.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: And that's why I think there's so much beauty in being an esthetician because somebody can come to us and we're really able to increase um that blood circulation through beautiful massage techniques.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: And now we know more than ever the importance of mental health and well-being.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: And so when you bring, you know, all of those, I think, elements in, you're really helping to create a little transformation.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: And I really um I really love how you described that and definitely answered my question, by the way.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: Um, I know you're wondering, but uh blood flow, because I was actually having a conversation just the other day, and this is not related to the skin, but to related to another organ.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: And um, it was a medical colleague, and we were just discussing, and you know, it really came down to the idea of what you said, which is blood flow.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: Every organ um it receives what it needs um to the fullest when your blood flow and your blood supply is working properly, and when you're getting all of that, you know, just what you're what that organ's supposed to be getting, when it's getting that 100%, that's when you're gonna see, you know, your body's gonna naturally detoxify itself, you know, oxygen is gonna get you're gonna see so many mechanisms that we love talking about, uh, you know, in skin, where you're gonna see that happen automatically.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: So I really um I'm glad that you mentioned that aspect of being um anesthetician and how that is something that is very specific, right?
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: If you go in for like a nice facial or if you go in for a specific technique, that they're gonna be focusing on things like blood supply and you know, uh make sure there's enough oxygen and and you know, just the temperature and all those things that play into the idea of like good skin health, they're gonna focus on that versus just going strictly, you know, to a dermatologist, which is more pathology-based.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: So I think that's a that's a really a differentiation we need to make, you know, in the industry when we define like, should I be going to an esthetician or should I just go to a dermatologist?
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: Because there's two different, these are two different lines of work, you know, and they're both working towards the same goal, I think, which is you know, optimal skin health, but the techniques is where there's a huge difference.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: So I'm glad that you um explained that to us.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: My pleasure.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: And also just keeping in mind, you know, for for those that are home, you have the ability to increase that circulation and that blood flow every day, whether that's again through maybe doing an exercise class, yoga is wonderful.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like a facial, uh, a facial in itself when you're just even able to create perspiration or um, and again, you know, we think of these runners, we think of just people um walking, swimming, going into an infrared sauna, whatever it is that you like.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: But when you're applying your product, or even if you just want to take a little nutrient oil or a serum or something, just be mindful of increasing that circulation just through some manipulation yourself and also slow down in the process, become aware and become present in those moments.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: Because I think so many times we're just sort of in the um, what would I say, you know, sort of just um uh anyway, I'm lost, lost my train and thought here, but we're kind of like on uh autopilot, I guess is what I was trying to say.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: And and so we're not even really paying attention to what we're doing.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: It's just kind of going through the motions.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: But it's amazing that when you create that visualization and you look at the end result, how much quicker um you're actually going to, you know, you're actually going to get to that end result.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: And I think that's been proven a lot even in um exercise and and muscle building.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: When you visualize the muscle, you increase that blood circulation, how it all works together.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: And again, that's so much part of the holistic lifestyle and something that I like to teach to my clients each day.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: I think that's really important to like really kind of listen to what you're saying.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: And that's why I've just been very quiet, is because you know, for me, I think about it from this physiol physiology perspective, um, or I try to at least, because that's really where my training has been.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: And I think um when I think when I think about like what you do as an aesthetician and the and especially your line, Tammy, because you have, I feel like in the line, like you have just essential things we need, um, of what I would consider rather than just fluff.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: And so when I'm looking at it from a physiology perspective, it's a lot about, you know, kind of doing what's already there, but just, you know, kind of I guess making it easier to incorporate into daily life and making sure your skin gets what it needs rather than like being truly invasive to your skin and just you know what I mean, putting in too many actives, putting in too much, you know, just too much work where you don't need to be putting in too much work.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: So that's kind of um a segue.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: And I want to use that to go into really how you formulated the products because I know you have some amazing products.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, they're really genuinely meant to do what they're they're saying, which is just nourish the skin.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: And I would love to talk to you about how you um came up with each and every one of them and what your main focus was when you were picking out, you know, what you wanted people to have uh at home for skincare.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: So I guess I, you know, I never formulate based on a trend or um any and and uh and I'm sort of known, I think, in the industry to create something when I see that there's a need.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: So that's always been really at the heart of what I've done.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Um when I've been in the treatment room and I have over time noticed that okay, there may be just something that um each client seems to be um having issues with or trying to combat.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: So, of course, being here in South Florida, I see a lot of sun damage, sunburns, and that sort of thing.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: So hence um, and and again, trauma to the skin, so inflammation to the skin from one way or another.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: So that's sort of how Roman chamomile tonic came to be.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: I took a singular herb that I knew that was anti-inflammatory, that was incredibly soothing and healing, and kept that product so simple and realized that it's something that you can keep refrigerated, you can use as a compress to calm redness, irritation, no matter what your skin may be going through.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: So those are sort of some very simple um thoughts behind some of my products.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Of course, I'm a huge fan of rose because on a on an ethereal level, and something that's probably more quantitative and maybe not quite as measurable, I recognize the power of the rose.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: I recognize that it carries the highest vibration of all the plants.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: And I believe that when we raise our vibration through the foods that we eat, the thoughts that we think, um, the plants that we connect to, then and when we use ingredients that are of that high vibration, that it does raise our vibration and that we're one in the same.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: So I am looking at all sorts of elements in the creation of my products.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: I also, one of our probably our most best-selling product is intensive repair bomb.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: And that product was created because um women were coming to me that needed postoperative care.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: And whether again there was trauma to the skin or whatever it was, I I looked at it, I looked to ingredients that I knew had a beautiful aspect for soothing and nurturing the skin.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: But I also take it a little bit further where I was looking at the ingredient of Heli Christom and I recognize that it also has sort of this um effect on the cells, where even on an emotional level, it it can be uh not only calming and soothing, but it helps to reduce stress, if you will.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: And so I guess for me, it's always about how does that ingredient work um on all levels?
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: We know that just through the aromatic experience of orange that it's an antidepressant, it's very uplifting.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: So when I was working with my luminous morning cream, it was important to use ingredients that again, I knew affected the physical level, but also um also really had this very feel-good um sense to, you know, the sensibility of the product as well.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: Each product is so dear to my heart.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: I can't tell you there was a time when I really wanted to teach others that it wasn't important, like you were saying, to have all these products and all this fluff, and that you could really kind of go down to the basics and to just what the essentials are.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: And sometimes as I started to try to eliminate a couple things within the line, it was like those ingredients were speaking to me, sort of saying, But I am important in the plant kingdom.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: You know, I do have these.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: And so they're they're friends of mine, if you will.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And I I had a hard time letting some of that go.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: But the latest, one of my latest products, and one that is just I have found to be personally so beneficial in so many ways, is a product called plant milk serum.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: And that product is very unique because there's an extraction process that we use when formulating that, that we're able to extract the oil and the water soluble components of the plant.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: What that means for the consumer is that it has a much higher nourishment to it.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: And so plant milk serum is very, very beautiful.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: And again, it's a milky emulsion that, but when it's mixed with the skin, it acts as almost an oil.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: And so it creates this incredible moisture barrier while also soothing um the tissues for any skin condition.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: And I love, I was actually gonna ask you about the milk-based formulas too, because I've been seeing those more so, I think, since I started the podcast.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: And this idea of like, you know, I actually want to go back to the bomb as well because um I have questions.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna lie.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: I have questions.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: Um, so you know, going back to the bomb, I know that we see both like creams and bombs in skincare, and it's very confusing for me as a consumer.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Like, when do you use which?
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, what's when is a bomb ideal as far as like, you know, the last step in a routine versus a cream?
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: Is there um, you know, is there like some sort of protocol?
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Well, I think, you know, maybe there's a little bit of a misconception in the sense that um we call it intensive repair bomb, and um intensive repair bomb has a very dewy finish to it.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: So, you know, we do use some plant butters and solidified oils, and so it acts as this nice moisture barrier.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Um, the I I think to answer your question and to back up a little bit from my experience and knowledge, when you are using sort of you, you know, you obviously you cleanse and you use your tonic or the toner.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: And the toner is very important because that actually is part of the cleansing process.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: That's probably the most um misconceived product in a collection of oh, why spend money on it?
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: I can skip it.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna get right to your answer here, but I just want to take you sort of through the steps real quick.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: And so um, after you do that cleansing process, the serums or um like for an example, plant milk serum is a milky emulsion, but it's still in an oil serum base.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: So the serums, what they do is they penetrate deeper.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: Oils will penetrate deeper than a cream, let's say.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: So then your creams or your bombs or something that's gonna have a little bit of a um a thicker base, um, a larger molecular structure, in a sense, that's gonna act as um sort of just a protection, an environmental protection or a protection against the elements and kind of help to seal in your serums.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: So um in my routine, and what I love is after you cleanse and tone, you massage in um that serum.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: That's where you get that blood circulation and and really spend time with those massage techniques and then allow the moisturizer to just remain on top.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: You're still gonna get all of the nutrient benefits, but it's sort of like putting on your clothing to protect you against the um the elements.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, that makes so much more sense.
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because you know, I never I never understand the role of like moisturizer.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: I know that they're supposed to be, like you said, sit on top of your skin and you know, just be that nice barrier.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I'm glad you explained that because I definitely did know the difference.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: And when you're using natural ingredients and you know, you're staying away from the chemical components and this um the silicones and those sort of things, it's still nourishing the tissue.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: So there's still a therapeutic value versus obviously, you know, the mineral oils and things that people have moved so far away from now with such great brand awareness.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: So um not only does it act as a barrier, but it still has a therapeutic, you know, uh moisture content to it as well.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: No, I think it's it's very interesting.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: And I think that, you know, skincare for me, it doesn't always have to be this like, you know, like just a white bottle reminds you of a hospital.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: I feel like a lot of brands are doing that these days, or they're making it very, you know, this clinical look to everything that they create.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: And I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all about, you know, I'm all about that, right?
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: The more, the more efficacious a product is, obviously, you know, that speaks for itself.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: But I think there's a lot of value in what you really kind of put out there, which is this idea of energy and this idea of good vibes.
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: And, you know, I it reminds me actually of um I it was a book, it was like a small book, but like I read it back when I was training, um, you know, as a medical student, and it was about these uh like about cancer patients and how um, you know, the healing that took place for them was very much dependent on, you know, just the people that were around them and the types of things that they were being exposed to every single day.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: Like there was this one story I remember, Tammy.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: It was it's crazy to think about, but this woman, she had like, you know, end stage breast cancer, and you know, everyone was telling her, there's no hope for this, you know, this is something that is like a hospice kind of situation.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: But she was so adamant about just positive energy and positive vibes.
- 27:41SPEAKER_02: And, you know, I remember reading about that and learning about her case and thinking to myself that there's a lot more we don't know, you know, as people, and especially when it comes to our health and skincare and skin health is no exception to that.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: You know, you have to, you have to really be resonating with the things that you put on your skin.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: You have to resonate on a vibrational level.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: And what that means is, you know, exactly what you described, which is you know, recognizing the potential of herbs and plant-based products and recognizing what works for you.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: So I think that's a beautiful message.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: And I'm I'm so glad that you sparked that conversation here because I don't yeah, no, thank you.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Thank you so thank you so much.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: And I think also just recognizing the power within.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: And just knowing that, like you said, if you have that determination and with the um, and there's so much, I mean, there's so much power we know in the medical industry, and and we need to rely on that, but we also have um so many of our own answers within.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: And I do believe that so much healing can be self-healing and just connecting with nature on so many levels.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: I I feel like that was one of the blessings to the start of the pandemic, is when we all sort of um had that opportunity to slow down for a minute and to go back, to go back within and to see what it is that feels most important and to sort of feel our way through and to have that reconnection.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I completely agree with you.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: And you know, just the other day, like I was having like a moment and I remember like I it was like an essential oil or something.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: I don't remember what exactly the product was, but I remember standing there and just like I was, you know, um playing around with it.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: And I remember standing there and just taking a minute and just taking a breath, right?
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: And it was like this overall feeling of just calm that came over me.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: And I realized in that minute, like, you know, we don't take enough of those moments.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: We don't take enough time to really think to ourselves, what is my body going through right now?
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: And what do I need?
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: Is this a moment where we need a pause?
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: And like that's where the whole self-care aspect comes in, right?
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: Of skincare is that moment of just being present.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: And I think your line is such a beautiful, like I think it's it represents that so beautifully, you know, in the sense that it's not it's not something that you don't want to look at like on a counter products and it it brings you to a place, you know, and I think that's really where a lot of things like packaging and just the imagery we use on our products comes in because it's all psychologically related and interconnected.
- 30:19SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, I love that your line is just so it has just calming vibes, you know.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: I really, really appreciate that for you know how it's I want to um move uh into a little bit more of you know just what you're what's coming up next for the skincare line because I know that you know there's a lot of uh potential nowadays, you know, people are doing all sorts of things to kind of branch off from the skincare space.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: Is there anything in the works for you or is there um you know anything coming up?
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: Well, we are always so excited, you know, every year for the um the amount of growth that the brand sees.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: And I think that 2022 is such a very exciting year for us.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: Um, we did recently just launch our bath milk collection, and that's um just in the last month or so, and and that's been really exciting because I wanted to show and to teach people as they're spending more time at home the importance of ritual and what it feels like.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: It doesn't have to be you know multiple steps or layers, but there is something powerful about just um reconnecting, having that time in the water with the proper temperature, and just you know, utilizing these different bath milks to help with an overall healing experience.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: So that's been wonderful.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: We also do a limited edition um around the Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, where we have a Trey Rose body oil and bath gel, and um again, kind of moving a little bit into um the bath and body products there, excuse me.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: And then we're working on um we are a lifestyle brand as well.
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: We just opened our second location, um, our second spa location in Delray Beach, Florida.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: We're really excited about that.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: It just opened about 10 weeks ago, and it's been beautiful for me because um it is ocean front.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: So we have, and in my opinion, one of the greatest healers to be part of the project, and that is the ocean and looking at it and being, you know, on the ocean um every day.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: So not only are we offering body treatments and in our we're known for our legendary facial treatments, but more energy treatments and bringing in these world-class practitioners that I believe are top in class in their field on um different lectures and programs so that we're can we can continue to teach people to incorporate all of this into their overall lifestyle.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: And of course, um, you know, with that, connecting with them virtually.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: So we have a lot going on in that space as well.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: And I think, you know, in the upcoming months, you're just gonna continue to see and feel and and um really be part of all that we are and pulling a community together for the like-mindedness of really the um the embitterment of of health, self, well-being, and and um, you know, all of this in the wellness segment.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: And I I don't know if you're screaming in the middle of, oh my god, I'm from Delray Beach.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: I actually You are yes, I lived there for uh quite a while actually after I moved back from the UK and I lived there for you know, I think about three, four years.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: Um and then goodness.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I love Delray Beach.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, I'm so excited that you're open there because it's such a cool place and then like the vibrate, like the whole vibe of the entire community is so relaxed and laid back, and you really feel like just you know, you you feel calm and peaceful.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: I I just love that.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, you have to come and see us.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: You've let me know when you're gonna be in Del Rey because I would just love to take you through a full experience in our spa and um just have you, you know, really feel and it and just go through multiple treatments of what we have to offer.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Tonight we're doing a sound bath healing on the beach, and um, we're really excited about that.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: We offer morning meditations and um really again just kind of connecting the person as a whole.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: But it would be such a great honor to have you come and spend some time with you here.
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, I would love that.
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: And you know, I'm gonna take you up on that offer because I just I definitely will.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, you know, Tammy, this has been amazing and from your line, I can't say good things about it.
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: I'm actually, you know, just ever since I received it, I have been using it, like, you know, and just trying out if I if I can use it every day or every other day.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: And it's just something that works for me, it resonates with me.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: And I think if people just kind of explore a little bit more, that's going to lead you to finding products that are not only great for your skin, but they're going to be great for your soul.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: And that's really what you know, Tammy Fender's like collection really kind of for me represents is that it's not just skincare.
- 35:08SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's wonderful skincare.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: It's you know, top of the line, but that self-care aspect is something I don't personally see as a consumer in many lines.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: And so to find that in one place is really it's a blessing.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: And it feels wonderful as a consumer to be by to be able to buy something that you know is gonna go the extra mile for you on various levels and multiple layers of you know who you are and how you feel overall.
