- 0:42Speaker 1: Welcome to the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest
- 0:46Speaker 1: running weekly Philly sports podcast show in the world. That's right,
- 0:49Speaker 1: twelve years strong. Got a great show coming to you
- 0:52Speaker 1: this week, a little bit of an abbreviated show once again.
- 0:57Speaker 1: As you folks are hearing this or watching this on YouTube,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm actually going to be on vacation with my family,
- 1:03Speaker 1: but we got a great guest to talk about the
- 1:05Speaker 1: Philadelphia seventy six ers, the Philadelphia Phillies. He is coming
- 1:09Speaker 1: to us from the honorable mentioned podcast. He's been on
- 1:12Speaker 1: the show a number of times over the years. Helps
- 1:15Speaker 1: us out with our postgame podcast shows or Eagles I
- 1:18Speaker 1: should say postgame podcast shows during the Eagles season as
- 1:22Speaker 1: well as during the entire year. We'd bring on Matt
- 1:25Speaker 1: Rodgers to dive into the world of Philly sports with us.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Buddy Man, it's great to see you. Thanks for taking
- 1:29Speaker 1: the time. Man, Yeah, it was interesting.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You're the leading Thank you first of all, thank you
- 1:35Speaker 2: for listeners for listening.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Jeff Butt, thank you for having me on.
- 1:38Speaker 2: It didn't occur to me how many times. I'm not
- 1:40Speaker 2: sure how many times I've been on the Talk, not birds,
- 1:43Speaker 2: so it's kind of funny funny for those of us,
- 1:45Speaker 2: those of you all who will be watching this because
- 1:48Speaker 2: we both got burds.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Sure it's on. Yeah we didn't play that, I know,
- 1:52Speaker 3: but today we'll be talking to phil Sixers. So thank
- 1:55Speaker 3: you all for listening.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Absolutely Again, Like I said, folks, the Honorable Mentioned podcast
- 2:00Speaker 1: I listen on Apple Podcasts, but Matt and the Honorable
- 2:04Speaker 1: Mention are over on YouTube. Subscribe there, and you can
- 2:07Speaker 1: also check out The Honorable Mention podcast on whatever audio
- 2:10Speaker 1: podcast platform you may be listening to us on. So
- 2:13Speaker 1: let's get this discussion started. First, we're gonna be diving
- 2:16Speaker 1: into the Philadelphia seventy six ers, the upcoming draft, what
- 2:20Speaker 1: that may end up looking like, and what it means
- 2:22Speaker 1: for the future of this team. Matt, whatever the Sixers
- 2:27Speaker 1: do at number three overall is gonna be huge for
- 2:30Speaker 1: this team and for the team's future. You know, whether
- 2:34Speaker 1: they trade out of the number three spot or if
- 2:37Speaker 1: they take you know, VJ. Edgecombe or even Trey Johnson,
- 2:40Speaker 1: it's gonna set a new stage in motion in some way,
- 2:45Speaker 1: shape or form for this team. And I'm wondering, you know,
- 2:48Speaker 1: what are your thoughts here as the draft is right
- 2:51Speaker 1: around the corner, Whether it's excitement, you know, whether it's
- 2:54Speaker 1: any sort of predictions that you have for what may
- 2:56Speaker 1: happen or what again, what it just means for the future.
- 2:59Speaker 2: What are your thoughts, buddy, It's pretty pivotal. I mean,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I think not to be a downer, but I mean
- 3:06Speaker 2: I think that the process it's highly in question. It's
- 3:10Speaker 2: it's doubtful that it will end up getting to itself
- 3:14Speaker 2: being the exact success. So you hope that you can't.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You can't get rid of Joel and beat. It's good business.
- 3:19Speaker 2: You have to keep keeping onto that contract and most
- 3:22Speaker 2: likely you have to keep an honor the contract with
- 3:25Speaker 2: with Paul George. So you have to look at it
- 3:27Speaker 2: and say, with those guys, and then you include Tyrese, Maxi,
- 3:31Speaker 2: Jared mckainn coming along, how do I really give myself
- 3:35Speaker 2: a chance?
- 3:35Speaker 3: And you just saw two teams who.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Weren't exactly super teams get all the way to the
- 3:42Speaker 2: you know, being the last.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Two teams playing. So I like the pick.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Uh, maybe maybe I'll just say and we can get
- 3:48Speaker 2: to the pick later. I think this is very pivotal.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I think because you're not gonna get a chance to
- 3:54Speaker 2: undo uh, you know, there's always these sports fantasy ideas.
- 3:59Speaker 2: All we get rid of Paul George, we get John Moran.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You know, you put a max you crazy ideas that
- 4:05Speaker 2: the world of not that it's highly unlikely that they
- 4:08Speaker 2: get to really make any other significant move. You're gonna
- 4:12Speaker 2: do mid level exception moves. You lose Ya Boselli. So
- 4:16Speaker 2: it's really important that they get this right.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it absolutely is. I'm a VJ. Edgecumb fan, to
- 4:21Speaker 1: be honest, like, as.
- 4:22Speaker 2: We're going through this process, I'm with you.
- 4:25Speaker 1: If it was me, And of course I am not
- 4:27Speaker 1: Darryl Morey, and not too many people are. And we're
- 4:30Speaker 1: gonna be talking about Daryl Morey. We're gonna be talking
- 4:32Speaker 1: about draft picks that this Sixers organization has drafted in
- 4:38Speaker 1: in future weeks for sure on this podcast platform. But
- 4:41Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I'd take VJ Edgecumb
- 4:43Speaker 1: if I had to make the pick right now if
- 4:45Speaker 1: it were me. Are you thinking the same thing? Oh?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I was, I was trying to say, But absolutely
- 4:51Speaker 2: I agree. I think I think the best way for
- 4:55Speaker 2: it is because a guy like Ace Bailey is making
- 4:58Speaker 2: it very clear to you not to say a bad
- 5:00Speaker 2: guy or that his agent or whoever is representing him
- 5:03Speaker 2: and advising him are bad people. He's trying to make
- 5:06Speaker 2: a move and say if I'm reading his sports psychologists,
- 5:09Speaker 2: you know, amateur outside looking in sports psychologists, He's really
- 5:13Speaker 2: just trying to He's trying to be the man. He's
- 5:15Speaker 2: trying to make clear to people, Hey, pay attention to me.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I'm the guy. I don't know how on this team exactly.
- 5:23Speaker 2: You do always have to leave space and ball distribution
- 5:29Speaker 2: in a place where potentially, if we do get back
- 5:31Speaker 2: to Pete, Joel Embiid ace, I don't care who you are.
- 5:35Speaker 3: You're like, you know, you're not going to be the man.
- 5:38Speaker 2: If Joel Embiid is feeling one hundred percent, nobody on
- 5:42Speaker 2: this team is going to be the man but him,
- 5:44Speaker 2: and so it's going to leave him hungry. I think
- 5:46Speaker 2: the other stuff, will you know, Vja's shooting, his ability
- 5:52Speaker 2: to space the floor in the three guard lineup, pushing
- 5:55Speaker 2: Paul George to the four or even potentially as a
- 5:58Speaker 2: huge bench piece. You give him a ton of minutes,
- 6:02Speaker 2: just keep the keep it going, keep everybody fresh, maybe
- 6:04Speaker 2: keep Joelanbiid fresh. I think that's the better team construction
- 6:10Speaker 2: route to go, Ace Bailey, you're gonna have the higher
- 6:14Speaker 2: two K twenty five overall team rating, maybe t K
- 6:18Speaker 2: twenty six two potential, but long term, as you build
- 6:23Speaker 2: a franchise, you build a business. I think vj Eds
- 6:26Speaker 2: it comes and don't speak to you know, without even
- 6:30Speaker 2: speaking to the fact that clearly Ace Bailey's not you know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: there's an aspect there where it's kind of Ben Simmons ish,
- 6:38Speaker 2: it's gonna this this team is going to be on
- 6:41Speaker 2: his ass, is on his rear.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Maybe you'll have to cut.
- 6:44Speaker 1: That out on its fine, I don't care.
- 6:47Speaker 2: On him about. You're gonna have to get it done.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And you know this me me me kind of stuff.
- 6:53Speaker 2: It's not maybe not the right fit and maybe better
- 6:57Speaker 2: all around team construction. And you know for Ace and
- 7:02Speaker 2: everything that we just you know, it was nice day
- 7:05Speaker 2: in a cool couple of nights. You know, it was
- 7:08Speaker 2: great at the cop I'll never forget it, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 2: but right.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Sounds good, sounds good man, Well, I mean it kind
- 7:17Speaker 1: of dovetails into what we are hoping that this Sixers
- 7:22Speaker 1: draft is going to be when it's all said and done, Matt,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and I'm wondering, what are you hoping that we'll be
- 7:28Speaker 1: able to say about this team really heading into this
- 7:32Speaker 1: coming season after this draft, because if you do have
- 7:35Speaker 1: a talent like VJ. Edgecombe and it's going to provide
- 7:39Speaker 1: a different type of asset for you, it's going to
- 7:42Speaker 1: provide some a different variable in terms of the team construction,
- 7:45Speaker 1: of course, But I mean at the end of the day,
- 7:48Speaker 1: when you're reflecting on what this Sixers draft is going
- 7:52Speaker 1: to be, you know, what are you hoping that we're
- 7:55Speaker 1: going to be able to say about this team heading
- 7:56Speaker 1: into this coming season.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I think that we just have have a hope of
- 8:02Speaker 2: that we've got a vision.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Past the process.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I kind of spoke on that a second ago, and
- 8:07Speaker 2: I don't want to be too negative about it especially,
- 8:10Speaker 2: but there's realities.
- 8:12Speaker 1: There are realities though Matt seriously with this.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Process was not a success.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Right, it wasn't.
- 8:17Speaker 2: And Paul George move was a bad move.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yes, there's been a lot of bad moves over the years.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's a lot, and it's okay to say them. But
- 8:27Speaker 1: I think Darryl Morey has been resilient. I will say that.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I will say there's a certain resiliency to this organization. Yes,
- 8:36Speaker 1: absolutely so, Like I just hope at the end of this, Yes, yes,
- 8:42Speaker 1: I just I hope there's some optimism, like some real optimism,
- 8:46Speaker 1: not the fake type of optimism after drafts. You know,
- 8:49Speaker 1: we're all sports fans. We love it after the drafts
- 8:51Speaker 1: because we look at talent, whether seriously, whether it's the Eagles,
- 8:54Speaker 1: whether it's the Flyers, the Sixers, Phillies, whoever. You look
- 8:58Speaker 1: at drafts and like, Okay, yeah, we're feeling good. We're
- 9:01Speaker 1: feeling good. Sometimes we fake ourselves out with that type
- 9:03Speaker 1: of mentality of just the immediate reaction. But I want
- 9:07Speaker 1: that actual reaction of Okay, I'm feeling good about this
- 9:11Speaker 1: team heading into the season. A lot of that is
- 9:13Speaker 1: dependent on Joel Embiid's health too. I mean that that
- 9:16Speaker 1: that's the reality as well. I don't factor in that
- 9:19Speaker 1: he's going to be around.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I think the a realistic mindset for a Philadelphia sports fan,
- 9:25Speaker 2: since we'rell on the topic, is to say, I don't
- 9:30Speaker 2: expect Joel Embiid to play more than fifty five sixty
- 9:34Speaker 2: percent of the games. If he plays sixty percent of
- 9:37Speaker 2: the games.
- 9:37Speaker 3: He's going to be damn good.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Joel Embiid, you know, hobbling up and down the court
- 9:41Speaker 2: with one eye working, you know, the fingers broken. Whatever,
- 9:46Speaker 2: He's still a top five NBA player. He's gonna be awesome.
- 9:49Speaker 2: But the team has to be able to exist without
- 9:53Speaker 2: him and not depend on him so much, have him
- 9:55Speaker 2: rushing back from stuff and all. That's what the process
- 9:58Speaker 2: has been. And so I mean, I think the team
- 10:01Speaker 2: has to honor that contract and he'll be the number
- 10:03Speaker 2: one guy if the if and when he's around, Yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 2: but the team has to be realistic about it. And
- 10:10Speaker 2: most of the time he's not going to be around.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely, Folks, let us know what you are thinking
- 10:16Speaker 1: about this Philadelphia seventy six ers team and what they
- 10:20Speaker 1: may and what you're hoping they are going to look
- 10:22Speaker 1: like in the future. Philadelphia Sports Table at gmail dot com.

- 10:50Speaker 1: he's on various audio platforms too. I listen on Apple podcast. Oh,
- 10:54Speaker 1: he's over on Spotify as well. So check out the
- 10:57Speaker 1: Honorable Mention Podcast. Let's dive into the Philadelphia Phillies here.
- 11:02Speaker 1: They won the series against the Mets this past week.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And after getting absolutely dogged by them earlier this year,
- 11:09Speaker 1: getting swept by them, you know, and we're all thinking
- 11:12Speaker 1: to ourselves, oh, my gosh, is this what's gonna happen
- 11:14Speaker 1: every time these two teams meet? But no, this past week,
- 11:18Speaker 1: the Phillies took the series against the Mets in a
- 11:22Speaker 1: pretty convincing way, I will say, you know, and and
- 11:26Speaker 1: it just it makes me wonder absolutely, and I wonder
- 11:34Speaker 1: where this NL East is going to be going, how
- 11:38Speaker 1: it's going to be trending, because the way it's trending
- 11:42Speaker 1: right now, it's gonna be tight the entire season between
- 11:45Speaker 1: the Mets and the Phillies. Here. How do you see
- 11:48Speaker 1: the NL East really taking shape over these coming weeks
- 11:51Speaker 1: and months?
- 11:51Speaker 2: Here, Matt, great question. I'm buying stock in the Atlanta
- 11:56Speaker 2: Braves right now, are you okay?
- 11:57Speaker 3: Aren't they Braves are gonna.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Not to win it, not to win it, okay, not,
- 12:06Speaker 2: but as a sneaky, dangerous wild card team a LA
- 12:10Speaker 2: twenty one Phills as they round in the shape Acuna
- 12:14Speaker 2: get watched coecting two hits a night, three RBIs hitting
- 12:19Speaker 2: a dinger. You know, they're they're pitching rotations shaping up,
- 12:24Speaker 2: so I think that they'll be picking off the you know,
- 12:27Speaker 2: they're not going to be getting swept or two out
- 12:29Speaker 2: of three I get by the Mets, three out of foard.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Against the Mets or the Phillies, they're gonna be picking
- 12:36Speaker 2: off a game here or there. It's gonna come down
- 12:38Speaker 2: to those two all the way to the end. I
- 12:40Speaker 2: really don't know what to say. I mean, I think
- 12:42Speaker 2: right now though, if I got to say, just on vibes,
- 12:46Speaker 2: even after the good series last weekend, vibes are.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Still not sky high. Man. I just don't feel great
- 12:51Speaker 3: about it. I mean, I think, like Wan Soda, like.
- 12:56Speaker 2: It felt like he barely even touched those baseballs and
- 12:59Speaker 2: he's looking he's coming up, you know, like one of
- 13:02Speaker 2: these major league you know, sluggers in a move baseball movie,
- 13:06Speaker 2: like with the ultimate confidence against these Phillies pitchers. I
- 13:10Speaker 2: think O'Ryan Kirkring has been pretty good recently. Yes, but
- 13:15Speaker 2: I after losing Alvarado, I gotta say, I I just don't.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I don't trust this, I don't trust the pen. I mean,
- 13:24Speaker 2: and I hope I'm wrong late, but right now, just Taiwan,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I just I don't know what inning he should be
- 13:31Speaker 2: pitching in. I mean, and I and I root for him,
- 13:34Speaker 2: but yes, right now, this team, yeah, get use some
- 13:38Speaker 2: help there.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Look, I'll one of our good friends of the podcast,
- 13:42Speaker 1: Jeff Kerr from CBS Sports, he shot off a tweet
- 13:46Speaker 1: that I had read, and it actually did make me
- 13:49Speaker 1: feel a little bit better, Matt. It did. He said,
- 13:51Speaker 1: there are three teams that have a six hundred win
- 13:54Speaker 1: percentage in Major League Baseball. The Tigers they have a
- 13:58Speaker 1: six to twenty win percentage, the Dodgers have a six
- 14:00Speaker 1: to zho eight win percentage, and our Philadelphia Phillies have
- 14:04Speaker 1: a six hundred and three win percentage. And he said, yeah,
- 14:08Speaker 1: they need improvements. He said, it's June and the fact
- 14:13Speaker 1: that there is that narrative around this team that they're
- 14:17Speaker 1: somehow like not good enough. I think we need to
- 14:20Speaker 1: give them some patient or I think we need to
- 14:22Speaker 1: be patient perhaps with this team. But yes, they do
- 14:25Speaker 1: need improvements in various ways. We talked about it on
- 14:28Speaker 1: the Table Talk podcast show and interview this past week
- 14:31Speaker 1: with our good friend Matt Davis from that Balls out
- 14:34Speaker 1: of Here dot com talking about the ups and downs
- 14:37Speaker 1: of this team and the inconsistencies. Yet they are successful
- 14:41Speaker 1: and it amazes me that this team is in the
- 14:44Speaker 1: position that they're in right now, and with the talent
- 14:46Speaker 1: on this team, it makes me think that they can
- 14:50Speaker 1: do it. But with that being said, and you know,
- 14:53Speaker 1: as we're gonna be closing up the discussion here, I
- 14:56Speaker 1: think the outfield in the bullpen is where Dave dombrows
- 15:00Speaker 1: he really needs to focus his attention if he wants
- 15:03Speaker 1: to make a trade before the trade deadline. Matt, But look,
- 15:06Speaker 1: here's what I'm thinking about this whole situation. As everybody's
- 15:09Speaker 1: talking about the phillis need to trade for somebody, bring
- 15:11Speaker 1: him in bullpen, possibly outfield. If Dave Dombrowski wasn't willing
- 15:16Speaker 1: to trade the top prospects in the farm system last
- 15:18Speaker 1: year before last year's trade deadline, you know what makes
- 15:23Speaker 1: us think that he's going to trade for any of
- 15:25Speaker 1: them this year? I mean, That's where I'm at right now.
- 15:27Speaker 1: What are your thoughts?
- 15:29Speaker 2: No, I agree they're not touching Painter and not touching Crawford. Crawford.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I mean, really that's a potential trade deadline acquisition. Yeah, so,
- 15:40Speaker 2: I mean I haven't heard a lot of people talk
- 15:43Speaker 2: about that. I guess maybe the team isn't ready for
- 15:45Speaker 2: that quite yet. Maybe they want to give him a
- 15:47Speaker 2: little more time. You're not moving Casty out of right,
- 15:51Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know who's trading for Casty. And
- 15:53Speaker 2: I think what batt in about two seventy now, so
- 15:56Speaker 2: it's that corner outfield.
- 15:58Speaker 3: It's maybe getting marsh Town.
- 16:01Speaker 2: That's uh probably all that's the only option on the table.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and look with a bullpen piece to not
- 16:09Speaker 1: have an Alvarado, I mean, that's been that's been really rough.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I can I can see a move being made, but like,
- 16:15Speaker 1: what is it really going to be because I don't
- 16:17Speaker 1: think Painter Crawford, you know, Mick Abel's been doing some
- 16:21Speaker 1: good stuff. Yeah, he got roughed you know, he got
- 16:24Speaker 1: roughed up recently and his last outing, but still a
- 16:26Speaker 1: little bit. Yeah, but I can't I don't know. I
- 16:30Speaker 1: just don't see a huge trade being made by Dave
- 16:34Speaker 1: Dombrowski before the trade deadline, So we'll we'll have to
- 16:37Speaker 1: wait and see how this turns out. You have any
- 16:40Speaker 1: final thoughts here, Man, I.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Talk myself into bad vibes. I'm a I'm a uh,
- 16:45Speaker 2: you know, hope, hope for better than what I'm thinking
- 16:48Speaker 2: right now. Yeah, that's how last last trade deadline, I
- 16:51Speaker 2: felt like it was a missed opportunity coming to this year.
- 16:57Speaker 2: You're made acquisitions, you're doubling down on the cards in
- 17:01Speaker 2: your hand, and if you're not really working with something,
- 17:04Speaker 2: doubling down might get a couple other players off the table.
- 17:07Speaker 2: You know, you might stay at the game a little longer.
- 17:09Speaker 2: But and I think that that's all that really the
- 17:13Speaker 2: Phils fans are at this point. I mean, it's a
- 17:17Speaker 2: weird place to be. And these are the last thoughts
- 17:19Speaker 2: I'll leave you with. Jeff, thank you for having me on,
- 17:21Speaker 2: thank you for listeners, for listening all. They're the underdog,
- 17:24Speaker 2: they're the favorite, they're the okay, middle team. Maybe they
- 17:28Speaker 2: have the chance. So at this point now they're in
- 17:30Speaker 2: the weird sports place where it's like dem it win,
- 17:33Speaker 2: or just like shut up and I'll do an NLCS
- 17:38Speaker 2: appearance isn't really going to satisfy anybody.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, it's it's it's an interesting situation where this
- 17:46Speaker 1: team is at. And again, folks, he is Matt Rogers
- 17:49Speaker 1: from the honorable mentioned podcast. Subscribe over there and search
- 17:52Speaker 1: them out on YouTube, also on various audio platforms as well. Buddy,
- 17:58Speaker 1: it was great talking to you. I love love seeing you.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Love hanging out when we have the opportunity too, and
- 18:03Speaker 1: we need to do that at some point down the road.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So come back, Let's talk more Eagles, Let's talk Sixers,
- 18:10Speaker 1: Phillies in the future. I'd love to have you back
- 18:12Speaker 1: on the show, my friend.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you for all all you listening.
- 18:17Speaker 1: All right, folks, we are going to If you are
- 18:19Speaker 1: watching on YouTube, we're gonna be ending this podcast show.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But if you are listening to the audio, you are
- 18:25Speaker 1: going to be hearing Eric and I talking about some
- 18:28Speaker 1: of our Phillies season predictions. How stupid did we sound,
- 18:32Speaker 1: how intelligent did we sound? We'd love to hear your thoughts.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And if you're watching on YouTube, head on over to
- 18:38Speaker 1: one of the audio podcasts so you can hear Eric's
- 18:41Speaker 1: and my discussion pre twenty twenty five Philly season about
- 18:46Speaker 1: what this team would be looking like and who would
- 18:48Speaker 1: be stepping up, and just a ton of different categories
- 18:52Speaker 1: that we got into. So we'll catch you next time.
- 18:56Speaker 1: We'll be back in just a bit on the audio
- 18:59Speaker 1: and VID. We'll see you soon. Take care everybody, and
- 19:03Speaker 1: now on the table. All right, we are back and
- 19:09Speaker 1: we're gonna be getting into some old takes and some
- 19:12Speaker 1: old audio from before this Philly season started. Eric and I.
- 19:17Speaker 1: We're talking about certain players on this team, our expectations
- 19:20Speaker 1: for them. We went through some categories and we want
- 19:23Speaker 1: to reflect right now on how we did. We want
- 19:27Speaker 1: to reflect on and listen to how we did in
- 19:31Speaker 1: terms of these various categories and some of these predictions. Here.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Hope you enjoy the audio and shoot us off an email,
- 19:39Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table at gmail dot com. Let us know
- 19:42Speaker 1: your thoughts on what you're hearing right now when we're
- 19:45Speaker 1: reflecting on what this season has been for this Phillies team.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Let's get right to it. We are gonna get We're
- 19:52Speaker 1: gonna get in some player categories here. Who's gonna be
- 19:55Speaker 1: the breakout guy this season, the comeback kid, the best
- 19:59Speaker 1: bullpen piece, the MVP of this team, and the one
- 20:03Speaker 1: thing I forgot to put on here, Eric was the
- 20:05Speaker 1: actual regular season prediction of how many games they are
- 20:09Speaker 1: going to win. So let's do that. If forgot to
- 20:12Speaker 1: put that on the agenda, I was a tired boy's before.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So let's start out with the breakout guy this year
- 20:19Speaker 1: for the Philadelphia Phillies. Who's that for you, buddy?
- 20:24Speaker 3: You talked about him earlier. I think it's Max Kepler,
- 20:26Speaker 3: all right, another really nice signing, one year, ten million dollars,
- 20:31Speaker 3: I believe, yep, super by, low, high ceiling kind of signing.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Not unlike Hazus Flzzardi we talked about earlier. I'm looking
- 20:42Speaker 3: at his stats right now. He's only thirty one years old.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Twenty twenty three had a really damn good year. I
- 20:48Speaker 3: think he batted he had looking right now, twenty four
- 20:51Speaker 3: home runs he batted to sixty eight sixteen oh ps.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Not bad this year for like he's just in left field,
- 20:57Speaker 3: Like he doesn't have to be the star if he's
- 20:59Speaker 3: your six hole. Yeah, and he gives you those numbers.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 3: This team that, like I said earlier, that takes his
- 21:05Speaker 3: team up a couple of steps. Like I hate to say,
- 21:09Speaker 3: baseball is not a team sport. It just isn't It's
- 21:12Speaker 3: not like basketball, it's not like soccer. But each position
- 21:18Speaker 3: like affects the other person in the batting lineup right,
- 21:21Speaker 3: and if he doesn't have to bat fourth or fifth,
- 21:25Speaker 3: perfect for him. If he's six or seven where he belongs,
- 21:27Speaker 3: and he can give you the stats from two years
- 21:29Speaker 3: ago before his injury, like his last year was just
- 21:31Speaker 3: crap for him, like yeah, it's really nagging, shitty injuries,
- 21:35Speaker 3: seems to be healthy. You're paying them peanuts basically for
- 21:38Speaker 3: a left field or a major league baseball If he
- 21:41Speaker 3: can give you what he gave you, what he gave
- 21:42Speaker 3: Minnesota twenty twenty three, that is an absolute bargain and
- 21:47Speaker 3: allows you to make a move at the trade down,
- 21:49Speaker 3: like I talked earlier, to get another piece in house
- 21:53Speaker 3: that can maybe steal some bases or a bullpen arm,
- 21:56Speaker 3: and you're solidified at a big position paying them to
- 22:00Speaker 3: million dollars. I think he's poised to make that. He's
- 22:03Speaker 3: poised to hopefully be that guy in that in that
- 22:07Speaker 3: spot and left field, where we've kind of had some
- 22:10Speaker 3: like some turn right, we've had some real you know,
- 22:12Speaker 3: our fields always been kind of except for Costianos which
- 22:15Speaker 3: is still in the team.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I know it's incredible.
- 22:18Speaker 3: It's a bless him, right, and but somehow that the
- 22:21Speaker 3: left field just keeps having turnover turnover, and I like
- 22:23Speaker 3: that he's there. I think he's a solid, solid arm,
- 22:26Speaker 3: solid bat. I think he's going to be the comeback
- 22:28Speaker 3: kid just because of the injuries last year.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I love I love the pick. Dude. We are high
- 22:32Speaker 1: on Max Kepler. We really are. He said, just a
- 22:35Speaker 1: little bit, but just a little bit.
- 22:37Speaker 3: You know, we have a lot of Max Kepler sock
- 22:39Speaker 3: in the show. I don't like it that we both
- 22:41Speaker 3: like this. It's not a good thing. But we'll see
- 22:43Speaker 3: how it works.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I think in June or July we need to do
- 22:47Speaker 1: a revisit of this show, okay, and see where we
- 22:51Speaker 1: are at. We've done it in the past before.
- 22:53Speaker 3: It was really August.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yeah maybe August. Yeah, Okay, sounds good. Look, I love it.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I am. I am with you. I think Max Kepler
- 23:02Speaker 1: is going to have a really good year and he's gonna,
- 23:03Speaker 1: like I said earlier, think he is going to help
- 23:06Speaker 1: get this team and this offense to that next level,
- 23:09Speaker 1: even if it's just a little bit. And this guy
- 23:12Speaker 1: that I'm going to be naming as the comeback I'm sorry,
- 23:17Speaker 1: the breakout guy. The breakout guy this year is actually,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I believe going to be Brandon Marsh because more is
- 23:24Speaker 1: going to be asked of him. And just as of
- 23:27Speaker 1: a few days ago in spring training he was hitting
- 23:30Speaker 1: two ninety. He went nine for thirty one in recent
- 23:35Speaker 1: stats that I was looking at, but with regard to
- 23:38Speaker 1: lefties and spring training, he was three of seven. That's
- 23:41Speaker 1: four to twenty nine batting average. Of course, he's not
- 23:43Speaker 1: going to do that through the regular season, but the
- 23:46Speaker 1: fact of the matter is he has said I see
- 23:48Speaker 1: the offseason work paying off a little bit as it
- 23:51Speaker 1: as it pertains to hitting against lefties, and we know
- 23:54Speaker 1: that that has been in his kryptonite. I think that
- 23:57Speaker 1: is going to reverse for him, or at least start
- 23:59Speaker 1: to rever and again that little bit of offense him
- 24:03Speaker 1: going up against lefties, not having to do the platoon.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I mean, so long to that platoon. Thank god, I'm
- 24:09Speaker 1: tired of it after so many years. I think Brandon
- 24:12Speaker 1: Marsh is going to end up being, and I think
- 24:15Speaker 1: we're gonna be talking about him at the end of
- 24:17Speaker 1: the regular season the breakout guy on this team because
- 24:20Speaker 1: he's finally going to start hitting against lefties and being
- 24:22Speaker 1: productive with it.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And I hope So, I mean we talked about on
- 24:26Speaker 3: the show like two or three weeks ago, you know,
- 24:29Speaker 3: Coach was talking about him like this is my guy,
- 24:32Speaker 3: and we I think we kind of went back and
- 24:33Speaker 3: forth with debateing like is Thompson just saying like is
- 24:37Speaker 3: he just saying it because he's trying to like deflect
- 24:40Speaker 3: his play in the field. Yeah, Or he just doesn't
- 24:42Speaker 3: want to deal with the platoon situation. He's poised. He's
- 24:46Speaker 3: twenty eight, I think twenty nine years old. He's he's
- 24:48Speaker 3: in line for the like the next big payday. This
- 24:51Speaker 3: is one of those this is probably his shit or
- 24:53Speaker 3: get off the pot kind of seasons, because you're trying
- 24:55Speaker 3: to buy guys that are a lot older, they already paid,
- 24:58Speaker 3: Like you're probably the next one up. You better freaking perform.
- 25:01Speaker 3: If he doesn't like this is like he has to
- 25:04Speaker 3: be the breakout guy to make the next stage of
- 25:06Speaker 3: his career. So hopefully he understands the pressure and steps
- 25:09Speaker 3: up to the plate like that cliche Jeff.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, look at.
- 25:14Speaker 3: That I'm trying to make I'm trying to be baseball cliches.
- 25:17Speaker 3: So we do football the time. It's so much fun.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Look, and if he doesn't do it, it's going to
- 25:23Speaker 1: be on a future podcast if he doesn't. If he
- 25:25Speaker 1: doesn't be the breakout guy this year for me, So
- 25:28Speaker 1: all right, let's move on to the comeback kid this year?
- 25:32Speaker 1: Who do you have as the comeback kid? I have
- 25:33Speaker 1: a feeling we may have the same guy here, but
- 25:36Speaker 1: who do you have?
- 25:39Speaker 3: I have Brandon Stott because.
- 25:41Speaker 1: By so, oh my gosh, I'm sorry, sorry, we were
- 25:44Speaker 1: just talking about Brandon Marsh.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I was, yeah, sorry, I was looking at Brandon Marsh's
- 25:49Speaker 3: stats and he said, right, yeah, Bryson Scott didn't quite
- 25:53Speaker 3: have the season we all expect it last year.
- 25:55Speaker 1: He's mine too, by the way, that's okay.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and I have a right here six six oh
- 26:01Speaker 3: my gosh, six seventy one ops yep, two forty five
- 26:04Speaker 3: average the year before, we really I think we really
- 26:07Speaker 3: thought like, oh man, this is the price is he?
- 26:10Speaker 3: Like I was talking about Marsh, like Scott was the
- 26:12Speaker 3: next guy, Like Scott was going to step in where
- 26:14Speaker 3: the older guys were going to start to like stop performing.
- 26:16Speaker 1: You and I were talking about it on the twenty
- 26:18Speaker 1: twenty four season preview. That's what we said. We said
- 26:21Speaker 1: he was going to be the next guy on this
- 26:23Speaker 1: team taking things forward.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Yeah, because he hit that huge home run the song
- 26:29Speaker 3: played Yeah we've all seen on YouTube a thousand times,
- 26:31Speaker 3: and I was like, Okay, he's the next guy. And
- 26:34Speaker 3: last year he just kind of sucked. Yeah, he was
- 26:37Speaker 3: not just he was very mediocre for an everyday player.
- 26:40Speaker 3: It was kind of it was really a doubt. It
- 26:41Speaker 3: was really like like he was letdown. I think he's
- 26:46Speaker 3: one of those keystones to their success. If he you know,
- 26:50Speaker 3: if he raises his stuff to like two eighty, his
- 26:53Speaker 3: ops is like you know in the seven hundred, eight hundred,
- 26:55Speaker 3: it's like that's when you know, like my my Wheeler
- 26:59Speaker 3: Harper prediction, it's going to come to fruition because he'll
- 27:01Speaker 3: he'll be a big part of it. Because he's not
- 27:03Speaker 3: he's not the guy to bat in the six to
- 27:05Speaker 3: seven hole. You got to move him up and plays
- 27:08Speaker 3: a huge position in the infield. He's he's key to
- 27:11Speaker 3: their success. I think Alec Baum kind of is who
- 27:13Speaker 3: he is. He's kind of Reese Hoskins, let's just face it, right,
- 27:18Speaker 3: better athlete. But that's about it. I think Scott is
- 27:20Speaker 3: the is the is the outlier to this whole thing,
- 27:22Speaker 3: and if he doesn't perform, if he does the same
- 27:25Speaker 3: thing he did last year, they're kind of like, we're
- 27:28Speaker 3: the I don't want to They're not gonna be in
- 27:30Speaker 3: the middle, right, but he'll be one of the reasons
- 27:34Speaker 3: they're in the bottom of the top. That's how I
- 27:37Speaker 3: feel about him.
- 27:38Speaker 1: My gosh, can you imagine if these guys were talking
- 27:40Speaker 1: about whether it's Max Kapler, Bryce and Scott, Brandon Marsh
- 27:43Speaker 1: if they just take that little step, that little step
- 27:46Speaker 1: for each guy can be the complete difference maker as
- 27:50Speaker 1: to whether or not this team actually can get to
- 27:52Speaker 1: the World Series. It really can.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Well and think about it, like if you're if you're
- 27:58Speaker 3: Bryce's Scott, you're Brandon Marsh, you are you're in your
- 28:01Speaker 3: mid to late twenties, and your teammates are all guys
- 28:05Speaker 3: that are making like three hundred million dollars right like Harper,
- 28:09Speaker 3: and you're you're kind of in line for the possibility
- 28:11Speaker 3: of being that guy. They're not going to be Harper,
- 28:13Speaker 3: This is never gonna happen, but like to being like
- 28:16Speaker 3: kind of percentages down of what Harper is you're in
- 28:20Speaker 3: line for like two hundred million late, like a lot
- 28:22Speaker 3: of money. Yeah, I think you. The pressure's got to
- 28:26Speaker 3: be on you be like right, damn man, I am
- 28:28Speaker 3: in like the what third fourth market in baseball. I'm
- 28:33Speaker 3: in line for like a huge payday. If I can
- 28:35Speaker 3: just perform this one year we won a World Series,
- 28:37Speaker 3: I'm i cash my checks. I am set for life.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Like this is like I said, this is probably their year. Besides,
- 28:45Speaker 3: like the superstars, this is this this is the year
- 28:47Speaker 3: for the guys like marsh and Stott to perform.
- 28:50Speaker 1: We're getting hyped up, man, We're getting hyped up for
- 28:52Speaker 1: the season. Yes, all right, well we.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Will do my Sixers, like I said, are in the toilets.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I have nothing else.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Same with that. Look. I know you're not into the Flyers,
- 29:02Speaker 1: but my god, I can't even I couldn't even watch.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I mean they their last two games, they gave up
- 29:07Speaker 1: seven goals in each game. Fourteen goals in two games.
- 29:10Speaker 1: It is, it is horrendous watching that team.
- 29:14Speaker 3: But they have a goalie.
- 29:16Speaker 1: They're just well you'd be like, not even a goalie,
- 29:19Speaker 1: Like just goalie, no goalie. Yeah, they just pull they
- 29:22Speaker 1: just they don't even pull them. They just don't start one. Yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Is that what they're do in hockey these days?
- 29:29Speaker 1: I know, but they should. That would be great. So
- 29:33Speaker 1: all right, we'll move it along here. We got a
- 29:35Speaker 1: few more best bullpen piece and MVP of the team.
- 29:39Speaker 1: What is the best bullpen piece for you that you
- 29:43Speaker 1: think is gonna Which guy from the pen is going
- 29:45Speaker 1: to be that top guy for you?
- 29:49Speaker 3: I think kirkerams do for a breakout season. Yeah, he's
- 29:54Speaker 3: been on this squad. What they brought two years ago,
- 29:57Speaker 3: three years ago.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he was kind brought him upreat the post season
- 30:00Speaker 1: two years.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Ago, an insane spot for a young kids like that
- 30:05Speaker 3: was twenty two twenty three, like I wouldish, Like I
- 30:07Speaker 3: think I said earlier, I was shit my pants on
- 30:09Speaker 3: the mound, like in the playoffs. That's crazy. Yeah, but
- 30:13Speaker 3: he's seasoned now, he has a couple of years under
- 30:15Speaker 3: his belt, and like they had, it's one of those
- 30:19Speaker 3: years where baseball always is like great season with the
- 30:24Speaker 3: bullpen down, season up. It's one of the most roller
- 30:27Speaker 3: coaster positions in all sports, the relief pitcher and closer,
- 30:32Speaker 3: And like, I think he's poised to be that eighth
- 30:37Speaker 3: inning setup guy with his stuff. It's electric. He's the
- 30:43Speaker 3: perfect age where he's due for a payday as well
- 30:45Speaker 3: like the other guys. Yeah, and uh, he's got that
- 30:48Speaker 3: demeanor too. He's he's kind of an asshole on the mound,
- 30:50Speaker 3: which is perfect. Alvarado is already he's got that. He's
- 30:54Speaker 3: entrenches the closer. We need that eighth inning guy. Kirkeran's
- 30:58Speaker 3: been here, he's got that evil look on the mound. Like,
- 31:02Speaker 3: I just think he's the perfect guy because there's there's
- 31:04Speaker 3: a lot of like there's a lot of movement, right,
- 31:07Speaker 3: they have a lot of free agents. Yeah, and all
- 31:09Speaker 3: the guys that like Strom and that like did their
- 31:12Speaker 3: thing last year, made the All Star Game. It's like
- 31:15Speaker 3: they're bound to have it down year. That's just how
- 31:16Speaker 3: it works. It Like Strom's already day to day on
- 31:19Speaker 3: all the fantasy things. Like it's just like, ah shit,
- 31:21Speaker 3: he's already hurt. This is gonna suck that you need
- 31:23Speaker 3: a guy to step up, And I think he's the
- 31:25Speaker 3: guy after two years of like of experience, Like he's
- 31:29Speaker 3: the guy to step up and be the man in
- 31:31Speaker 3: the inning.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah. I love the prediction. I love the him being
- 31:36Speaker 1: the guy that really does take it to the next
- 31:37Speaker 1: level in the bullpen. For me, this kind of goes
- 31:41Speaker 1: with my comeback kid. I couldn't decide on what to do,
- 31:47Speaker 1: so I was like, well, I'm just gonna put the
- 31:48Speaker 1: best bullpen piece as Jose Alvarado. I really believe that
- 31:54Speaker 1: last year and just you know, over the past you know,
- 31:57Speaker 1: year and a half or so, dealing with the family
- 31:58Speaker 1: issues that he was dealing with, that was really on
- 32:01Speaker 1: his mind a lot. In reading Todd Zeleki's season preview
- 32:06Speaker 1: on MLB dot Com, it's funny he says Alvarado will
- 32:09Speaker 1: not only be the first Phillies reliever to save at
- 32:11Speaker 1: least thirty games since gen Mar Gomez, who saved thirty
- 32:16Speaker 1: seven games in twenty sixteen if you remember that, folks,
- 32:20Speaker 1: but he'll lead all lefty relievers in strikeouts. We have
- 32:24Speaker 1: been seeing what Jose Alvarado has been doing in spring training,
- 32:27Speaker 1: and just him coming back into form has been so
- 32:32Speaker 1: not only welcoming, but like, I think he's going to
- 32:34Speaker 1: be so incredibly dominant. I know a lot of folks
- 32:37Speaker 1: are saying, well, Jordan Romano probably gonna be the closer.
- 32:40Speaker 1: It's why the Phillies brought him in, but I don't
- 32:43Speaker 1: think that's necessarily gonna be the case. I think we're
- 32:45Speaker 1: gonna see Jose Alvarado closing out a ton of games,
- 32:49Speaker 1: and Jordan Romano is going to be a close second.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I think in terms of a bullpen piece that is
- 32:54Speaker 1: just absolutely awesome to watch. But Jose Alvarado for me,
- 32:58Speaker 1: is going to be that best Bowl pen piece this year.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Well as always like in being a homeowner, car owner, whatever,
- 33:06Speaker 3: like it's good to have insurance, right yeah, yeah, to
- 33:08Speaker 3: have a Jordan Romano, I don't think you're gonna need it.
- 33:11Speaker 3: I think Alvara is gonna have a monster year. I
- 33:15Speaker 3: can't imagine what he went through and trying to compete
- 33:18Speaker 3: at a major athletic level. Yeah, just a nightmare, and
- 33:23Speaker 3: he's looked amazing in spring training. I honestly think he
- 33:27Speaker 3: was gonna be one of one of my predictions. Like
- 33:29Speaker 3: you can't want to say young as a closer, but
- 33:31Speaker 3: I think he's gonna be one of those guys like
- 33:33Speaker 3: when he comes in, I'm not gonna have my fingers crossed,
- 33:36Speaker 3: like right, yeah sucks, Like you know, I don't think
- 33:40Speaker 3: it's gonna happen. I think he's going to be amazing
- 33:42Speaker 3: this year. And but but to have a Romano in
- 33:46Speaker 3: the back, you know, as a backup just in case,
- 33:48Speaker 3: like it's really nice like they've That's why I wish
- 33:51Speaker 3: the Phillies seems a little more excited because they really
- 33:54Speaker 3: have built a nice roster with depth too, you know
- 33:57Speaker 3: what I mean? Like that, that's that I wish to
- 34:00Speaker 3: similar nuance to some of the But we also, like Jeff,
- 34:04Speaker 3: what do we look at Twitter? You know, we're looking
- 34:08Speaker 3: at the idiot at the idiots unfortunately.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I know. Yeah, all right, very good, all right, MVP
- 34:15Speaker 1: of the team. I mean, I'm just gonna I'm just
- 34:17Speaker 1: gonna say, Bryce Harper, I think this is it. You
- 34:20Speaker 1: said it earlier. I think this is his year to
- 34:24Speaker 1: do it. And I really think this is the Phillies
- 34:26Speaker 1: year to get to the World Series once again as
- 34:29Speaker 1: they did two years ago. MVP of the team, Bryce
- 34:33Speaker 1: Harper for me? Is that for you as well? Yeah?
- 34:35Speaker 3: Of course he's the queen of the chess board. Yep,
- 34:38Speaker 3: he put this whole team, he put this whole thing together.
- 34:40Speaker 3: I remember sitting here in February twenty nineteen, I think
- 34:43Speaker 3: it was March twenteen. Yeah, when they signed him, and
- 34:46Speaker 3: he made that speech like this is where I want
- 34:48Speaker 3: to plant my flag. We're going to make a winner here.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Within like three years in the World Series. It was
- 34:54Speaker 3: like shocking for someone to come to Philadelphia, to a
- 34:58Speaker 3: Phillies team and be like, yeah, I'm a winner and
- 35:01Speaker 3: we're gonna do this. And it's like he's still here
- 35:03Speaker 3: and he's still he's still the guy and he's been here.
- 35:07Speaker 3: My god, this is his sixth season. I think like that,
- 35:09Speaker 3: that is exactly Nu's right, and he still performs at
- 35:13Speaker 3: an incredible level, like he's he's an all timer, he's
- 35:16Speaker 3: probably a Hall of Famer.
- 35:18Speaker 1: So talking about extending him like he wants to be extended,
- 35:20Speaker 1: like they're in talks, you know, his agent in the
- 35:22Speaker 1: front officer and talks about an extension and.
- 35:25Speaker 3: He'll be fifty.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I know, he's still fine. Whatever exactly he's supposed to
- 35:28Speaker 1: be here in a little two thousand and thirty, you know,
- 35:31Speaker 1: which I'll take.
- 35:32Speaker 3: He's an all time Philly Like I had this. I
- 35:35Speaker 3: had this thought the other day, like my all time
- 35:37Speaker 3: Phillies list was always like Mike Schmidt, Ryan Howard, you know,
- 35:42Speaker 3: and it kind of dwindles really fast sometimes if you
- 35:44Speaker 3: ever noticed it, if you ever like sit down, do
- 35:45Speaker 3: your list, like it's like, oh shit, Harper's up there.
- 35:48Speaker 3: He's He's always up there, and and like he's gonna
- 35:52Speaker 3: I think this is his last breakout, Like I'm going
- 35:55Speaker 3: to hit forty home runs, drag this team the World's
- 35:58Speaker 3: not drag the team, but like I'm gonna be the
- 36:00Speaker 3: leader of a team that makes the World Series. Yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 3: and if he can put one more ring on his
- 36:05Speaker 3: finger or a ring on his finger with this team
- 36:09Speaker 3: and does the MVP thing like he's he's he's vaulted
- 36:14Speaker 3: into the like the stratosphere of Philadelphia sports. Absolutely, but
- 36:17Speaker 3: I think it's in him though he's that fretting talented, he.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Can actually put this team on his shoulders. I believe
- 36:22Speaker 1: he can still do that for sure. All Right, well,
- 36:25Speaker 1: what do we think the regular season record is going
- 36:27Speaker 1: to be for this team? Eric? For me, I'm going
- 36:29Speaker 1: with a ninety four and sixty eight record. I think
- 36:33Speaker 1: this team can and will win at least ninety four
- 36:37Speaker 1: games this year. Hell, this team could win one hundred games,
- 36:41Speaker 1: I think with this roster and how it is and
- 36:44Speaker 1: with the Yeah, I know they're playing the Mets. The Braves.
- 36:48Speaker 1: But they're also playing a terrible Washington Nationals team and
- 36:52Speaker 1: Miami Marlins team throughout this division throughout this year, and
- 36:56Speaker 1: I just this is just a really good team. But
- 36:57Speaker 1: I'm going with ninety four wins on the season. You
- 37:00Speaker 1: what do you what do you got?
- 37:01Speaker 3: Ninety six eighty six? All right, I'm going to boom side.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Part of the reason I think some of the fans
- 37:10Speaker 3: aren't happy is, uh, you start your season in Washington. Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 3: god damn, Like I think it's a four o'clock start
- 37:17Speaker 3: with bummer. It gets it. It's such a dead stadium.
- 37:23Speaker 3: It's not a great team, and like you're starting a
- 37:26Speaker 3: possible like World Series run in just a like not
- 37:30Speaker 3: even a fun town. I know you live there, Yeah,
- 37:32Speaker 3: I like it's not it is not exciting. It's it's
- 37:37Speaker 3: a lot of big built like a lot of a
- 37:39Speaker 3: lot of history, but not fun. I'll say about DC's.
- 37:43Speaker 1: It's our government.
- 37:46Speaker 3: You want to get into that tonight or no.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I am tired. Yeah, I agree, I live it. I
- 37:52Speaker 1: am tired of it.
- 37:54Speaker 3: But like, yeah, I I I can't wait for the
- 37:56Speaker 3: home opener and I I dude, I I I think
- 38:01Speaker 3: they're kind of a good year. I really do. I'm
- 38:04Speaker 3: really optimistic, and I think they have so many horses
- 38:08Speaker 3: at every position. Like but but it's short lived. Yeah,
- 38:11Speaker 3: it doesn't happen this year. Next year, we're gonna be
- 38:14Speaker 3: on the show on video a lot of more gray hair,
- 38:18Speaker 3: right exactly, being like, can this team win eighty four games?
- 38:25Speaker 3: Beard is as gray as my hair, like that, that's
- 38:27Speaker 3: where we're going to be in two years.
- 38:28Speaker 1: And he doesn't shave it for an entire year, and
- 38:30Speaker 1: he just looks like a grizzly beard. Freaking guy.
- 38:33Speaker 3: It's the wizard beard. His gloves.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah, he's Gondolf.
- 38:39Speaker 3: He'll catch ground balls and his beard just like Okay,
- 38:43Speaker 3: got him all.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Right, and that's gonna do it for us this week.
