- 0:11Speaker 1: If you win, you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly. So
- 0:15Speaker 1: I think that there is a temptation after a loss
- 0:18Speaker 1: like Missouri to overcorrect, like to act like everything is broken.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I don't think everything is broken. But there are.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Five things Florida has to clean up immediately if they
- 0:30Speaker 1: want to get back on track against South Carolina. And
- 0:33Speaker 1: none of them are complicated. They're all things we've already
- 0:35Speaker 1: seen this team do well. That's what makes the Missouri
- 0:38Speaker 1: loss so frustrating, I think. Florida didn't suddenly forget how
- 0:42Speaker 1: to play football. They just got away from the things
- 0:44Speaker 1: that made them so good. So today I want to
- 0:47Speaker 1: go through the five biggest things Florida must fix before Saturday.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Number five, get back to playing on schedule. This offense
- 0:55Speaker 1: cannot live in the third and long, and that's probably
- 0:58Speaker 1: the simplest way to put it. Florida is at its
- 1:00Speaker 1: best when they're staying ahead of the chains. Four or
- 1:03Speaker 1: five yards on first down, a manageable second down. Then
- 1:07Speaker 1: you can have the entire playbook available.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You can run it. You can play action. You can
- 1:11Speaker 2: use movement.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You can let Aaron Filo operate without the defense knowing
- 1:14Speaker 1: exactly what's coming. And against Missouri, Florida spent too much
- 1:18Speaker 1: time playing behind schedule. Negative plays, penalties, poor first down production.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And once that happened, the offense became predictable. I think
- 1:27Speaker 1: that puts too much pressure on Philo. It puts too
- 1:30Speaker 1: much pressure on the offensive line, and it allows the
- 1:32Speaker 1: defense to attack. So against South Carolina, I want to
- 1:35Speaker 1: see Florida establish rhythm early. It doesn't have to be flashy.
- 1:39Speaker 1: It just has to be efficient. Get four yards. Get
- 1:42Speaker 1: five yards. Keep the offense out of obvious passing situations.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That's where this offense is at its best.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Number four. It's a big one. Fix the penalties. This one,
- 1:52Speaker 2: they have to nip in the bud. Florida is not
- 1:55Speaker 2: good enough to give away free yardage against SEC teams.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And truly, almost nobody is.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But when you're already struggling to move the football or
- 2:02Speaker 1: get off the field defensively, a penalty becomes even more damaging.
- 2:06Speaker 1: False starts, holding, late hits, personal fouls, whatever it is,
- 2:10Speaker 1: those mistakes compound everything. And this is where I think
- 2:13Speaker 1: discipline becomes a major part of the conversation. Florida wants
- 2:16Speaker 1: to be a physical team.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Great. Be physical.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But physical and reckless are not the same thing. Coach
- 2:22Speaker 1: talks all the time about he wants to be smart tough,
- 2:25Speaker 1: not dumb tough. There is a difference between playing with
- 2:28Speaker 1: an edge or hurting your team. This is the kind
- 2:32Speaker 1: of game where Florida needs to be emotionally under control.
- 2:35Speaker 1: If South Carolina gets them frustrated and Florida starts giving
- 2:38Speaker 1: away free yards, you're helping the opponent. After Missouri, that
- 2:42Speaker 1: can't happen again. I'm going to take a quick break
- 2:45Speaker 1: to tell you guys something exciting. We are now available
- 2:48Speaker 1: on audio platforms. You can find us on Spotify and
- 2:51Speaker 1: Apple Podcasts. If there's another platform we should be on
- 2:54Speaker 1: and we aren't yet, let me know down in the comments.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I'll see what we can do.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You guys have been saying for probably over a year
- 2:59Speaker 1: that you really wanted an audio option as well as YouTube.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So we are trying to do what you guys are requesting.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And so go over there and subscribe. Check us out
- 3:07Speaker 1: if you would prefer to listen on audio instead of
- 3:10Speaker 1: on YouTube.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Okay, so number three.
- 3:13Speaker 1: The offensive line has to reestablish itself. And this might
- 3:17Speaker 1: be the biggest on-field issue of all. Florida's entire offensive
- 3:20Speaker 1: identity starts up front. When the offensive line is moving people,
- 3:23Speaker 1: everything looks different. The run game works. Baugh gets downhill.
- 3:27Speaker 1: The linebackers step up. Play action opens. Philo gets cleaner pockets.
- 3:31Speaker 1: The offense gets into rhythm. When the offensive line struggles,
- 3:34Speaker 1: everything gets harder. And that's what we saw against Missouri.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Florida looked like a completely different offense because they could
- 3:41Speaker 1: not consistently control the line of scrimmage. So against South Carolina,
- 3:45Speaker 1: this has to be a statement game for that group.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You don't need perfection. You do need physicality. You do
- 3:51Speaker 1: need better pass protection. You do need movement in the
- 3:54Speaker 1: run game. And you do need to prove that Missouri
- 3:56Speaker 1: was one bad afternoon, not the beginning of a trend.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Every defense left on Florida's schedule is going to test
- 4:02Speaker 1: that front now.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And they should.
- 4:04Speaker 1: If I'm an opposing defensive coordinator, I am watching Missouri
- 4:07Speaker 1: and saying, okay, make Florida prove they can block us.
- 4:10Speaker 2: That's what Florida has to do. Number two. The defense
- 4:14Speaker 2: has to adjust faster.
- 4:16Speaker 1: This is the one that bothered me maybe the most
- 4:19Speaker 1: on Saturday in Missouri. Not that Missouri found success. Good
- 4:22Speaker 1: offenses are going to find things that work, and I
- 4:24Speaker 1: think that Austin Simmons is really good. This kind of
- 4:26Speaker 1: stuff happens. The problem is when they keep finding the
- 4:29Speaker 1: same thing. Florida never really seemed to find a real
- 4:33Speaker 1: answer once Missouri began controlling the game on the ground.
- 4:37Speaker 1: There were poor fits, missed tackles, bad angles, and the
- 4:40Speaker 1: same problems kept showing up. At some point, somebody has
- 4:43Speaker 1: to change the picture. That can be schematic. It can
- 4:46Speaker 1: be personnel. It can be alignment. It can be as
- 4:48Speaker 1: simple as players executing better. But you can't let an
- 4:51Speaker 1: opponent beat you the same way over and over and
- 4:53Speaker 1: over again. That is what I want to see against
- 4:56Speaker 1: South Carolina. If they hit Florida with something early, how
- 4:59Speaker 1: quickly does Florida adjust? How quickly do the players recognize it?
- 5:02Speaker 1: How quickly does the staff respond?
- 5:04Speaker 2: That's going to matter.
- 5:06Speaker 1: South Carolina is going to study every single thing Missouri
- 5:09Speaker 1: did successfully. And then they're going to test it. And
- 5:12Speaker 1: Florida has to show that they have learned from that game.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And number one, I think Florida has to respond to
- 5:18Speaker 1: adversity better. This is the absolute biggest one. It goes
- 5:22Speaker 1: way beyond scheme. Florida did not handle adversity well at Missouri.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Once momentum shifted, things snowballed. One mistake became another, then another.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Then the offense got frustrated. The defense got worn down.
- 5:36Speaker 1: The game started getting away from them. And Florida never
- 5:39Speaker 1: really stopped the bleeding. I think that is a maturity issue.
- 5:43Speaker 1: That is something I talked so much about last week
- 5:46Speaker 1: that was a concern of mine. This was a maturity
- 5:49Speaker 1: litmus test. Could they read the press clippings? Could they
- 5:53Speaker 1: see everybody on the national shows? Could they feel the
- 5:56Speaker 1: hype from everybody about that ass kicking of number four
- 6:00Speaker 1: Ole Miss and then put their hard hat on and
- 6:02Speaker 1: go back to work and not let it bother them?
- 6:06Speaker 1: And this week, That's what I'm watching more than anything else.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Last week, everybody was singing their praises. This week, everybody's
- 6:12Speaker 1: talking about them like they are horrific. Neither is something
- 6:17Speaker 1: that this team needed to listen to. Something's going to
- 6:21Speaker 1: go wrong against South Carolina. It does every single game.
- 6:23Speaker 2: That is football.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And maybe Florida gives up a long touchdown, let's say,
- 6:27Speaker 1: or Philo throws a bad pass.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Maybe there's a penalty.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Maybe South Carolina gets out to an early lead. What
- 6:33Speaker 1: happens next? I think that tells me more than almost
- 6:37Speaker 1: anything else. Does Florida panic? Do they press? Do they
- 6:42Speaker 1: start making emotional mistakes? Or do they settle down and
- 6:46Speaker 1: play the next snap? That is what good teams do.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Win the next moment. They don't need to let one
- 6:53Speaker 1: bad moment become an entire bad quarter or let one
- 6:57Speaker 1: bad quarter become an entire bad game. Florida did that
- 7:00Speaker 1: at Missouri. They can't do it again. I'm going to
- 7:03Speaker 1: add a little bonus here. Because I think it ties
- 7:06Speaker 1: everything together. Florida needs to remember who they are. They
- 7:09Speaker 1: need to get back their identity. This team is not
- 7:12Speaker 1: supposed to be finesse. They are supposed to be physical.
- 7:15Speaker 1: They are supposed to run the football. They are supposed
- 7:17Speaker 1: to play disciplined defense. They are supposed to wear teams down.
- 7:22Speaker 1: That was the formula that got them off to a
- 7:24Speaker 1: 4-0 start. That was the formula against Ole Miss. And
- 7:28Speaker 1: then at Missouri, they got.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Away from it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: So this week should not be about reinventing the offense.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It shouldn't be about some massive schematic overhaul. It should
- 7:39Speaker 1: be about getting back to basics.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Block better. Run harder. Tackle better. Play cleaner. Respond better.
- 7:45Speaker 2: That's it.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Florida doesn't have to be perfect against South Carolina, but
- 7:50Speaker 1: they do need to look like themselves again. And that's
- 7:53Speaker 1: the biggest thing. They need to look physical. They need
- 7:54Speaker 1: to look disciplined. They need to look confident. They need
- 7:57Speaker 1: to look like a team that learned something from Missouri
- 8:00Speaker 1: instead of a team that is still thinking about that
- 8:02Speaker 1: loss to Missouri.
- 8:04Speaker 2: One bad game is going to happen.
- 8:06Speaker 1: But if the same issues show up two weeks in
- 8:08Speaker 1: a row, then they're no longer one game problems.
- 8:11Speaker 2: They're trends.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And Florida can't afford to have those trending in the
- 8:16Speaker 1: wrong direction with what's coming up next on the schedule.
- 8:20Speaker 2: So those are the five things I need to see
- 8:21Speaker 2: fixed this week.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Play on schedule, cut out penalties, reestablish the offense, adjust
- 8:27Speaker 1: faster on defense, and most importantly, respond better when something
- 8:30Speaker 1: goes wrong. If Florida does those things, they can get
- 8:34Speaker 1: back on track. And if they don't, we're going to
- 8:38Speaker 1: be having a very different conversation next week. One that
- 8:42Speaker 1: I really honestly hope we're not going to have to have.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I appreciate you guys for tuning in. Don't forget to
- 8:49Speaker 1: subscribe to the channel and a big thank you to PrizePix.
