- 0:00A major milestone for inclusivity in Dubai today,
- 0:03Corey. Ooh. Five Diwa Customer Happiness Centers
- 0:06have just earned the official Autism -Friendly
- 0:09Environment Certificate. That sounds incredibly
- 0:11important. Yeah. But let's break that down. What
- 0:15does becoming autism -friendly actually, you
- 0:18know, mean in this context? It means they've
- 0:21undertaken a complete transformation. Right.
- 0:23This isn't just a plaque on the wall. The certification,
- 0:27which is granted by the Dubai Autism Center,
- 0:29Okay. It follows a comprehensive assessment covering
- 0:32employee readiness, the physical preparedness
- 0:36of the facility, and how services are adapted
- 0:39to meet the specific sensory and behavioral needs
- 0:42of people with autism. So it's about creating
- 0:45an environment that is genuinely safe and accommodating,
- 0:48rather than just, you know, accessible. And this
- 0:52seems to have strong backing from the top. Absolutely.
- 0:56The commitment is deeply embedded in the organization's
- 0:58strategy. Wow. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed
- 1:02Al -Tayr, the MD and CEO of Diwa, he framed it
- 1:05perfectly. What did he say? Well, he stated,
- 1:08and this is a direct quote, Okay. We prioritize
- 1:12supporting people of determination and providing
- 1:14an inclusive and safe environment across all
- 1:17our facilities to ensure their comfort and happiness,
- 1:19whether as customers or employees. Hmm. And,
- 1:23he said, this aligns with the national policy
- 1:25for empowering people of determination. Right.
- 1:28Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin
- 1:31Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to create an inclusive
- 1:34society that ensures empowerment and a dignified
- 1:37life for people of determination and their families.
- 1:40That's huge. It also supports My Community, A
- 1:44City for Everyone initiative, launched by His
- 1:46Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid
- 1:49Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Deputy Prime
- 1:52Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE and
- 1:54Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai to
- 1:57transform Dubai into an accessible city for people
- 2:00of determination. That's such a powerful statement.
- 2:03It is. I mean, it directly connects Doha's actions
- 2:07on the ground to the highest national goals for
- 2:09creating an inclusive, dignified society. Exactly.
- 2:13It shows this isn't a side project. This is a
- 2:16core mission. Exactly. And His Excellency also
- 2:20added that this is about more than just facilities.
- 2:23Right. It's about people. He said we provide
- 2:26specialized training programs for employees to
- 2:29empower them to deliver a comprehensive service
- 2:31experience that meets the aspirations of all
- 2:33segments of society. That's the critical piece,
- 2:36isn't it? The human element. Yes. You can have
- 2:40a perfectly designed building. Right. But if
- 2:43the staff aren't trained and empathetic, the
- 2:45experience just fails. This holistic approach
- 2:48is what truly sets a new benchmark. And it's
- 2:51part of a much larger story unfolding in the
- 2:53city. Oh? Mohamed Al -Emadi from the Dubai Autism
- 2:57Center noted that to date, 29 entities in Dubai
- 3:00have now been accredited as autism -friendly.
- 3:0329! Wow, that's incredible momentum, especially
- 3:06since the program just began in 2022. It is.
- 3:10It feels like a genuine city -wide transformation
- 3:13is underway, making Dubai a more welcoming place
- 3:16for everyone. It certainly does. Now, here's
- 3:19a question we'd like you, our listeners, to think
- 3:22about. What public space in your daily life would
- 3:25you most like to see become autism -friendly
- 3:27next? And what specific changes do you think
- 3:30would make the biggest difference?
