- 0:02SPEAKER_01: thirsty for direction while standing in the middle of God's wisdom
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: and not even realizing it?
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: There's an old story about a ship at sea lost and the crew was dying of thirst and
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: the crew sends out an urgent message to a nearby vessel.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Help, we need fresh water.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: The reply came back, you are in fresh water.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Dip your bucket, you're in the mouth of the Amazon River.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: They were surrounded by fresh water the entire time, but didn't know it.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Now, let me ask you again, how many times do we go thirsty in the middle of God's provision?
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Today, we're in Proverbs 4, 18 through 19, because it's the fourth day of the month.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking away.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: I'm Ernie Lansford.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: My desire is to help you connect biblical wisdom to everyday marketplace decisions.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Allowing you to build relationships that outlast any transaction.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: So, pour yourself a cup of coffee and let's get started.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Today we're opening with a powerful anchor from the Marketplace Proverbs,
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Volume 2,
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Micro to Macro,
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: The Ripple Effect of Relationships,
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: written by yours truly and co-author John Cluter.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Reading Proverbs 4,
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: 18 and 19 from the CSB version,
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: shining brighter and brighter until midday.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: They don't know what makes them stumble.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: That's Proverbs 4, verses 18 through 19 from the CSB.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Proverbs 4,
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: from my perspective in general,
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: paints two paths,
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: one lit by God's truth and one shadowed by distraction and destruction.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: It's about clarity and Integrity and the discipline to keep our feet on the right path.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: There was a season when I chased a lot of shiny objects,
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: certifications and business books and speaking events and mastermind groups
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: and mentors and gadgets and methods and courses and boy, you name it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Now, none of them were bad, but I let them become my compass and Instead of God's Word.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Then a dear personal coach of mine, Royce White, said something that stopped me in my tracks.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: He said, Ernie, you already have everything you need to do what you need to do.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Royce's quote and advice has stayed with me for decades.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: And the older I get, the more I realize he was right.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: We're standing in a river of wisdom, and we often settle for a thimbleful.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Smith Wigglesworth describes it like this, quote,
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: We never,
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: under any circumstance,
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: need to go outside God's word for anything, quote, end quote.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: That quote echoes what Proverbs 4 is telling us, quote,
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: The longer they live, the brighter they shine.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Proverbs 4, 18 from the message.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: The path of wisdom gets clearer with each micro-step.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: We want micro-impact?
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: It starts with micro-obedience.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: That means choosing the tools that align with God's purpose, not just the ones trending online.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Refusing to cut corners or twist the truth to get ahead.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: And pouring into relationships that produce trust far more than just transactions.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I believe the marketplace is a river of influence flowing with distraction
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: on one side and clarity on the other.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: And when we allow God's word to guide us,
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: our small daily decisions ripple out and shape the kind of business person,
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: spouse, parent, or friend we become.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Today's customer success code,
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: don't chase the shiny object, dream deeply from the stream that never runs dry.
