- 0:11Mere days after the Lee family had settled into their new abode
- 0:16nestled amongst the Pines, they are confronted with paranormal
- 0:21happenings. Initially, the disturbances seem
- 0:26harmless as the couple's two young sons.
- 0:29Began to voice. Concerns about peculiar lights
- 0:33flickering in their rooms and eerie shadows dancing across the
- 0:38walls. But the situation takes an
- 0:40ominous turn when Steve and Beth themselves bear witness to
- 0:46disturbing and terrifying events.
- 0:50This is the untold story. Of the haunted House of the
- 0:54Black Forest in Colorado. There's an undeniable, almost
- 1:15supernatural call to the eerie and the unexplained that seems
- 1:20to emanate from the depths. Of dense Woodlands, the Black
- 1:26Forest, a vast expanse of towering trees and shadowy
- 1:31undergrowth, has been a breeding ground.
- 1:34For creepy tales of the otherworldly.
- 1:38Amidst this foreboding landscape lies a dilapidated house, its
- 1:43weathered walls and creaking floorboards harboring secrets.
- 1:49That have captured the imagination of paranormal
- 1:52enthusiasts across the nation. This isolated dwelling nestled
- 1:59deep within the Colorado wilderness has earned a
- 2:03reputation as one of the most haunted sites in the United
- 2:07States. It's very existence a testament
- 2:12to the enduring power of mystery and the unknown.
- 2:18The region referred to as the Black Forest is an
- 2:21unincorporated area situated in El Paso County, Colorado,
- 2:27nestled near the city of Colorado Springs.
- 2:31This area was traditionally known as the Pineries, a vast
- 2:35expanse spanning over 1000 miles, aptly named for the dense
- 2:42concentration of majestic ponderosa pine trees that
- 2:47blanketed the landscape. The Black Forest's remote and
- 2:51secluded nature, coupled with its towering evergreens and
- 2:56rugged wilderness, has long captivated those seeking
- 3:00solitude and a connection with the untamed beauty of nature.
- 3:06The secluded log cabin, nestled deep within the Black Forest
- 3:10region of Colorado, seemed like a tranquil Oasis for the Lee
- 3:14family when they first laid eyes on it in 1991.
- 3:20Stephen and Beth, along with their two sons, had relocated
- 3:24from Louisiana, seeking a serene escape amidst the towering Pines
- 3:30and pristine wilderness. The sparsely populated area,
- 3:34known for its slow paced lifestyle, crisp air, and
- 3:38breathtaking vistas, promised a dream home surrounded by
- 3:43untouched nature. Little did they know that this
- 3:47idyllic retreat would soon become a source of explicable
- 3:51occurrences and unsettling experiences that would forever
- 3:57alter their perception. Of the Supernatural About the
- 4:02Lees Steven Lee, a father, husband and truck driver, had
- 4:08done well for his family and wanting a change of scenery,
- 4:14they found what they believed to be their dream home.
- 4:18A6000. Square foot, three story cabin
- 4:23located within the Black Forest, situated on five acres of land.
- 4:29Stephen and his wife Beth, with every step as they surveyed the
- 4:34property, could envision their two young sons.
- 4:38Playing and growing up there, their own little piece of the
- 4:42American dream. So.
- 4:46It took a little bit of. Time, but their offer on the
- 4:49home was ultimately accepted and within the coming months, they
- 4:55would soon call this secluded place home.
- 4:58However, they would fail to realize that it wasn't just
- 5:02inhabited by the family of four. The first week at their new
- 5:08residence seemed like something out of a fairy tale.
- 5:12Mom, dad and the kids were all comfortable and very happy after
- 5:19making the long trek from Louisiana to Colorado.
- 5:24The family themselves seemed happy and content with their
- 5:28decision. However, this would change the
- 5:34Lee's two young sons shared a room, as brothers often do at a
- 5:39young age, and roughly after their first week, they began to
- 5:44tell their parents that something strange was happening
- 5:46in their bedroom. Bright.
- 5:50Colorful lights flashed about. And terrifying shadowy spectres
- 5:56flowed across their walls. These strange happenings
- 6:00frightened the boys and often kept them awake.
- 6:05So of course they told their parents.
- 6:08However, often in these situations they were dismissed.
- 6:14Beth and Steve simply believed that the boys had overactive
- 6:17imaginations and figured it would just take time for them to
- 6:22adjust their new environment. But this too would change mere
- 6:27weeks later. Upon coming home from an evening
- 6:31of fun as a family, they would arrive to see their home
- 6:35lighting inside with strange lightning like flashes of light.
- 6:41They could see the spectacle from their driveway.
- 6:45In the words of Beth. One day we came home and it was
- 6:51like the 4th of July. In our living room and bedroom.
- 6:55We had all sorts of colorful flashes of light seemingly
- 7:00everywhere. We rushed inside to figure out
- 7:03just what these things were and simultaneously it sounded like
- 7:09people were stomping across our roof and all of a sudden it
- 7:14stopped. Never having seen anything like
- 7:18this before, the Lees were simply perplexed and not sure of
- 7:23what to make of this activity. They would lay their heads down
- 7:27to sleep this night. But what they?
- 7:30Failed to realize is that this was just a prelude of what was
- 7:35to come. In the coming months, the
- 7:38activity grew in intensity. What started as phantom lights
- 7:43and flickering shadows had escalated into something taking
- 7:48place almost every single day. From disembodied banging sounds
- 7:54to whispers, the sound of change dragging on the floor or even
- 8:00inside the walls to pushing, assaulting and disturbing the
- 8:07family. Sadly, the Lee's young sons were
- 8:11more often than not the targets of this paranormal force that
- 8:15plagued them night after night. And almost every night they were
- 8:21harassed by shadow people, the reappearance of the mysterious
- 8:26lights, and the awful banging sounds of something unseen.
- 8:32The family did their best to make the situation.
- 8:35Work. They, after all, were newly tied
- 8:38up financially in the purchase of what they believed was going
- 8:42to be their forever home. But it was something big or
- 8:46small nearly every day now, that was taking place during the day.
- 8:52Appliances began to turn on and off on their own accord.
- 8:56This was attributed. To an electrical issue at first,
- 9:00but after having the home examined by multiple
- 9:02electricians, they found no faulty wiring.
- 9:07Alongside electrical appliances, faucets began to turn on by
- 9:12themselves, often making a wet mess in whatever room they were
- 9:17activated in during the night. The re emergence of the lights,
- 9:23movement of the shadow people and the sounds truly haunted
- 9:28them and these disturbing happenings were soon coupled by
- 9:33something new and equally terrible.
- 9:37A noxious chemical odor began to appear in the home with no
- 9:42rational origin. The smell of these mystery
- 9:46chemicals burned the nose, eyes and throats of everyone whenever
- 9:53it appeared. In the coming days, yet more
- 9:57professionals would be called out, and yet nothing, no origin
- 10:02of the chemicals or detection of them either, could be found.
- 10:08It seemed that whatever force that dwelled within the walls of
- 10:11the cabin home in the woods had a particular hatred for the Lee
- 10:16family, and this force soon began to physically hit all of
- 10:21them, seemingly whenever it could, often leaving bruises.
- 10:27Not a believer in the paranormal, Steve Lee having had
- 10:31professionals come out and not provide any rational answers to
- 10:36their strange ailments. This, coupled with the now daily
- 10:40torment that he and his family were enduring, had finally
- 10:45reached his wit's end. He wanted to prove that either
- 10:49there was someone or something messing with them and over the
- 10:54coming year he invested in a total of $70,000 worth of camera
- 11:00equipment and security equipment to monitor every square inch of
- 11:05their home and property. Now you might think.
- 11:09That that's an incredible amount of money to spend on cameras and
- 11:13alarm systems, and it is. But this was the 90s.
- 11:18The equipment wasn't as readily available or sophisticated as it
- 11:22is today, and it just goes to show that they were truly
- 11:25freaked out by whatever. Was taking place.
- 11:29That they wanted some kind of tangible proof that they could
- 11:33show the world so people didn't think that they were crazy.
- 11:38The cameras, which were mostly motion activated and would
- 11:42record when motion was detected, soon began to activate with no
- 11:47rational explanation and no physical means to be detected.
- 11:54After capturing several strange things on video and photograph,
- 11:59Steve decided to contact the local authorities for help.
- 12:03Records show that the El Paso police were contacted so often
- 12:07by the Lees in the months to come that they launched a formal
- 12:11investigation into just what was taking place at the cabin home
- 12:16in the Black Forest. During this time and the two
- 12:21years to follow alongside the Camerons, their security
- 12:26equipment, which could detect motion and forced entry, was
- 12:31triggered 62 times with no explanation as to what could be
- 12:36causing it. It wasn't faulty equipment or
- 12:40poor installation. It was oddly something else,
- 12:45something unexplainable. With not even the police able to
- 12:49rationalize what was happening to the Lees, Beth and Steve
- 12:53decided to take things one step further.
- 12:56They hired a private investigator.
- 12:59This was in part due to the police also growing tiresome of
- 13:03being contacted for assistance and then there being nothing
- 13:07that they could do about it. Between the cameras and security
- 13:12equipment and now hiring a private investigator, the Lees
- 13:16had all but spent the rest of their life savings.
- 13:20Most people if it ever came to this.
- 13:23Would simply try and cut their losses and sell the home.
- 13:28And we don't know if the lease could have sold the home and
- 13:31moved elsewhere, but they truly still believed that this massive
- 13:35cabin home was their dream home and they didn't want to give it
- 13:39up without a fight. Unfortunately though, the
- 13:43private investigator was unable to help them.
- 13:47This left the Lees to simply tough out anything and
- 13:51everything that they had and were continuing to experience
- 13:55after moving in in 1991, the year now it was 1990.
- 14:01Five and the activity had persisted despite the efforts of
- 14:06the Lee family to uncover just what was causing it.
- 14:11Steve, who still figured there had to be a rational explanation
- 14:15for what was taking place. I had a little bit more of an
- 14:18open mind. After a lengthy discussion with
- 14:21Beth, seemingly having done everything else, the Lees
- 14:26concluded that they would try and contact paranormal
- 14:29investigators. To see if they could do anything
- 14:32about the otherworldly happenings taking place in their
- 14:35home. After some research in calling
- 14:39numerous numbers, the Lees ended up getting in contact with the
- 14:43person. Would end up being involved with
- 14:46the television show Sightings. Sightings was an American
- 14:50paranormal and new show that aired throughout the 1990s,
- 14:55covering various unexplained and fringe phenomena.
- 15:00As a result of this pretty lucky interaction, the show became
- 15:03very interested in producing an episode segment about hauntings
- 15:08surrounding the investigation of the Lee home.
- 15:11Michelle would contact a paranormal investigator in a
- 15:15self-proclaimed psychic in Minneapolis, MN named Echo
- 15:19Bodine from her book The Little Book of True Ghost Stories.
- 15:25Echo would explain her experience as the following.
- 15:30I got a call from the TV show Sightings and they wanted to
- 15:34know if I would. Fly to Colorado.
- 15:36Springs to help a family deal with some ghosts.
- 15:40The producers told me that the problem was the ghosts mostly
- 15:44seemed to come out at night. So I was asked to work from
- 15:47midnight until the early Daybreak hours.
- 15:51It was a very hot day in mid-july.
- 15:54When I arrived in Denver around 10:00 PM.
- 15:58It was pretty eerie. There was intense lightning all
- 16:01throughout the sky and rain pouring down.
- 16:05I remember thinking how perfect the spooky weather.
- 16:08Was. For investigating hauntings,
- 16:12Steve, the owner of the log home, was at the airport to pick
- 16:16me up. He was very open about not
- 16:19believing in ghosts, and as we drove through several towns in
- 16:23Colorado, I listened to him tell me.
- 16:26Story after story. About some of the things that
- 16:29had gone on in their house. They heard voices, footsteps,
- 16:36things would move from room to room.
- 16:39It took close to an hour to get up to their house in the
- 16:41mountains and alongside the rain, a fog hung about 10 feet
- 16:47off the ground. When we arrived and I entered
- 16:51their three story log cabin home from here, I was greeted by a
- 16:55producer who asked me if I could take a seat while the scientists
- 17:00they had hired told us about his thermal camera.
- 17:04Having been tired from the trip, I laid my head back while the
- 17:08explanations were continuing and suddenly.
- 17:13I heard a. Voice come from behind me.
- 17:16It said hey, come here. Upon turning around I saw a
- 17:22large ghostly man about 6 feet tall.
- 17:27The specter was wearing blue jeans and a blue checkered
- 17:31flannel shirt. I then heard in unison multiple
- 17:35voices tell me to look over here and now.
- 17:39There was 5 male spirits, all different but dressed the same
- 17:44as the first. The original ghost said that his
- 17:48name was Tom and that. This was his house and.
- 17:52That no one was going to make him leave.
- 17:56He ran the show around here and had for a long time.
- 18:01I told the producer what was. Happening in case he wanted to
- 18:04capture anything for the segment.
- 18:07And he did. The conversation then ensued,
- 18:12with Tom explaining why he and the boys wanted to stay in the
- 18:15house, that it was his land, his home, and that he would not
- 18:21leave. One of the cameramen then asked
- 18:24if it was one of them who'd been responsible for knocking over
- 18:28his very expensive camera off the countertop.
- 18:32All five in unison answered yes and then disappeared out of
- 18:37sight. The scientist with the thermal
- 18:40camera did in fact capture a drop in temperature just right
- 18:45where Tom had stood around 2:00 AM in the morning.
- 18:50As me and Beth discussed the activity that she had
- 18:53experienced, the dogs the family owned would not stop barking
- 18:59outside. The producers, in an effort to
- 19:02keep their sounds from being picked up on the camera, tried
- 19:06to quiet them down, but simply weren't having any luck.
- 19:10Then upon Beth showing me a photo of what they had captured
- 19:14on their own cameras, we suddenly were in the midst of 3
- 19:19male spirits, one with a particularly angry scowl upon
- 19:24his face. One of them walked through both
- 19:28of us causing us to jump out of our chairs while the other angry
- 19:34looking spirit tried to take my breath away.
- 19:38I believe he did this to stoke fear from me in order to grow
- 19:42more powerful, and this worked because I felt as if I was being
- 19:47suffocated. By 3:30 AM, we all decided to
- 19:52not focus on ghosts for a bit and to try and lighten the mood.
- 19:58We turned the cameras off and began eating some food in which
- 20:01Beth had prepared for us. But almost as soon as we began
- 20:05to relax, one of the camera women who'd been sitting on the
- 20:10stairs began to hyperventilate. She then jumped up and screamed.
- 20:17Get it out of me as she fell. Down the stairs and onto the
- 20:22floor, writhing in pain. The producers asked for me to do
- 20:27something, so with the assistance of others, I helped
- 20:31her up and into a chair in the kitchen and I began to burn sage
- 20:38encircling her in the smoke. I asked her to say back to me
- 20:43that she was clear until she calmed down.
- 20:48It took about 20 minutes, but she eventually relaxed.
- 20:53She then was given a ride back to the hotel and I never saw or
- 20:58heard from her again. By now it was 4:30 AM and we
- 21:03were waiting for the camera crew of the show to finish setting up
- 21:07their equipment in the bedrooms where the majority of activity
- 21:11was seeming to take place. One of Steve's friends, who had
- 21:16been present most of the night, came up and handed me a brochure
- 21:21about the. History of the local area.
- 21:24To my surprise, he told me that a man named Tom had been the
- 21:28sheriff here back in the 1800s. I felt shivers up my spine as I
- 21:35realized that this was the same Tom that now haunted the Lee's
- 21:40home. Roughly 5:00 AM, as we set off
- 21:44to investigate the last bedroom, I walked into the room and saw
- 21:49there in the rocking chair in the corner, who would turn out
- 21:53to be Beth's deceased grandmother.
- 21:56And on the opposite side of the room was Tom and the several
- 22:01male spirits under his control. We ended up burning sage and
- 22:06asking them all to move on to the other side.
- 22:10They all did leave the. Building, but I'm not convinced
- 22:13that they moved on. At about 6:00 AM, we finally
- 22:18finished saging the entire house.
- 22:21Exhausted, we packed up our equipment and went back to our
- 22:25respective hotels. I've spoken to Steve and Beth
- 22:29since and they informed me that activity at the cabin persisted
- 22:34shortly after our departure and that although not fully
- 22:37convinced, Steve is convinced that there are things in this
- 22:41world that we will never truly understand.
- 22:46Sightings would do a follow up episode segment years later with
- 22:50the Lees or they brought in several spiritualists and an
- 22:54expert in hyperdimensional studies and all would come to
- 22:58the conclusion that the home was indeed haunted.
- 23:03The expert would draw the conclusion that the home sat
- 23:06atop an interdimensional vortex and coinciding with his
- 23:11conclusion. Interestingly, a Hopi elder from
- 23:15the local area would also explain that the Black Forest
- 23:19sits on top what the Hopi call a rainbow vortex, a raging storm,
- 23:26a portal of sorts that contains great spiritual energy and the
- 23:31coming and going of many souls. Sometimes they burn out over
- 23:37time and sometimes they don't. They are considered gateways
- 23:42between the world of the living and the spirit realm.
- 23:47Some strange and noteworthy things that took place during
- 23:50the second filming of the show Sightings at the Lee's residence
- 23:54was that a paranormal investigator had asked anyone if
- 23:58the name Howard bore any significance to them.
- 24:02The Lee's were surprised because one of their best friends in
- 24:05Colorado Springs was a man named Howard.
- 24:09The entity then told the investigator, who relayed the
- 24:12information to everyone, that he was Howard's son and that he in
- 24:17fact had not killed himself, but rather had been murdered.
- 24:23This disturbed the Lees a great deal because Howard's son had
- 24:28supposedly taken his own life by consuming deadly chemicals
- 24:33working as a chemist. The stories and reputation of
- 24:37the home got such a local buzz from the press that even a
- 24:41Colorado senator by the name of Charles Duke visited the home
- 24:46with his own camera crew and would snap a few photographic
- 24:50pieces of evidence of apparitions.
- 24:53To his and everyone else's surprise, Senator Duke was so
- 24:57convinced of the Lee's haunting that he even contacted the FBI
- 25:01to conduct a formal investigation, but the Bureau
- 25:05would rebuttal with no federal laws had been broken.
- 25:11Years later, after everything had happened, Steve Lee, who
- 25:16still wasn't fully convinced of the supernatural, came to his
- 25:20own conclusions as to what was taking place.
- 25:24And for the record, it's a wild theory.
- 25:28He began to believe that the government was using his family
- 25:33and their remote location to test biological agents and
- 25:38psychological weapons of war. He claims he has even
- 25:43photographed military personnel on his property with firearms
- 25:48and claims that they may have been shutting off the
- 25:50electricity in his home so they could enter undetected.
- 25:55These claims, although far fetched, would be incredibly
- 25:59disturbing if true, and it would account for the noxious odors
- 26:04the family said they were experiencing as well as the
- 26:07lights and some sounds. But oddly enough as well, the
- 26:13Air Force Base is located just a few minutes away from.
- 26:18Where the Lees live, the Lees as.
- 26:21Far as we know, after placing the home for sale in 2010, no
- 26:26longer live there. The current residents are
- 26:29unknown, but it seems as. If the property.
- 26:32Has changed hands multiple times, whether it was ghosts the
- 26:38result of what the Hopi call a rainbow vortex or more
- 26:42sinisterly the result of government military Black Ops.
- 26:48The haunting of Black Forest Colorado is truly an intriguing
- 26:53tale. And if you find yourself seduced
- 26:56by what you could consider your dream home, take caution because
- 27:03this calling might just be a siren sound.

- 27:57When a family loses their father in a blaze, the widow and her
- 28:01two children are looking for a fresh start.
- 28:05But after moving into what was supposed to be their next
- 28:08chapter, they soon would discover that they aren't.
- 28:12It's only inhabitants as entities emerge from the walls
- 28:17to collect their very souls. Will they survive or be consumed
- 28:23by the darkness that surrounds them?
- 28:26This is the untold story of the demonic Long Island Haunting,
- 28:31also known as the Long Island Terror of New York.
- 28:36This one, even for me, is such an insane story.
- 28:39Again, I will advise you to not watch this episode alone or in
- 28:44the dark. Please subscribe to the channel
- 28:46with notifications on and leave this video alike.
- 28:50Now let's get to the Compton. Our story begins as a building
- 29:22blazes in the Bronx, NY. Firefighters attempting to
- 29:26extinguish the blaze have become trapped inside the four story
- 29:31complex right at the very top. Sadly, all six of them are
- 29:39forced to choose between jumping or succumbing to the flames.
- 29:45Several of the men survive and several do not.
- 29:51Lieutenant Curtis Mayran of Battalion 26, the husband of
- 29:55Jeanette Mayran, did not. Kurt wasn't just a firefighter.
- 30:01He was a family man, a loving husband, and a father of two.
- 30:06His passing was not only completely unexpected, but
- 30:10downright devastating to all those involved.
- 30:19The saddening events shatter any resemblance of a planned future
- 30:23that Jeanette foresaw. Following the tragedy, she had
- 30:27to tell her two girls that they would never see their father
- 30:31again. The two are inconsolable.
- 30:35To make things worse, every day following the public
- 30:39announcement of what had happened, her home has been
- 30:42besieged by the media. No care, no compassion.
- 30:47They just wanted a word and a picture to sell their latest
- 30:51headline. The harassment was constant
- 30:54during this time, so thinking of how to solve a crisis, Jeanette
- 30:58begins to ask herself should she try and find a little small
- 31:03place somewhere for her and the girls to escape to, To start
- 31:07over at, to start fresh? With snow still melting outside,
- 31:12She takes them for a car ride one afternoon and seems to
- 31:16stumble across a deal that was an answer to her prayers.
- 31:20Located outside the city and with the rarity of an acre of
- 31:24land, sits a rather large home. It will need some work, but she
- 31:30thinks she could make that happen.
- 31:32From the moment she lays eyes on it, Jeanette feels that this is
- 31:37the one. This could be a way to give her
- 31:39girls and herself a new life. She jumps on the opportunity
- 31:45into her bewilderment, her offers accepted.
- 31:49Within a month, the Mayrans move from the home that Curtis built
- 31:54to a new home, a fresh start outside of the city.
- 32:01With the transfer of each bag and each box of belongings, they
- 32:05feel as if they're that much closer to peace, the thing that
- 32:09they really all wanted. The homes mentioned needed some
- 32:13restoration, but with Curtis being a firefighter, his
- 32:17brothers in service took it upon themselves to look out for his
- 32:21family. With all the manpower, the work
- 32:25should be done within a couple weeks.
- 32:28However, with the restoration of the home, devastation would
- 32:33follow as the construction toils on and unfamiliar with the area
- 32:42with valuable tools being left around on occasion, as well as
- 32:47their own safety to worry about, Jen decides to put up security
- 32:51cameras to monitor things. In total, they have seven
- 32:55cameras installed around the property.
- 32:58The first night that the cameras go live, Jen is curious just
- 33:02what all they can see and detect.
- 33:05So with this being new technology to her, she sits in
- 33:08the living room on her computer, tuning into just what was taking
- 33:12place outside of her walls. It's night time and the cameras
- 33:17are in night vision mode, portraying black and white.
- 33:21As she clicks through the different cameras as the evening
- 33:24progresses, she doesn't see much.
- 33:27That was until in the middle of A-frame, she sees a man.
- 33:33This man is standing and staring at her home.
- 33:38Given the quality of the cameras at the time, she didn't panic,
- 33:42thinking perhaps that her eyes were playing tricks on her to be
- 33:47safe. She makes sure that the home is
- 33:49entirely secure and eventually relaxes enough to be able to try
- 33:55and get some sleep. As an icy wind blows outside and
- 34:01the light snow trickles down and coats the earth, Jeanette and
- 34:05her two girls lay in their beds. Her mother and sister are
- 34:10asleep, to her knowledge, but Angela is particularly restless.
- 34:16She can't seem to sleep. Tossing and turning, she has an
- 34:21uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach.
- 34:24As she toils away in her room, she is suddenly interrupted by a
- 34:30strange banging sound. As she sits up and listens, she
- 34:37hears it again. However, these thumps or knocks
- 34:43seem to be originating from inside the walls.
- 34:48Turning on her lamp and standing up out of bed, Angela begins to
- 34:53investigate as the noises progress in intensity.
- 34:58Meanwhile, unbeknownst to her, her younger sister Danine is
- 35:03woken up by the sound of someone banging on the outside of her
- 35:08closed bedroom door. Calling out to whoever was
- 35:12there, she has met with the reply of silence.
- 35:18Finding this strange to say the least, and confused after being
- 35:23woken up out of a sound sleep, the young girl gets out of bed
- 35:27slowly and apprehensively makes her way towards the door.
- 35:33As she turns the knob and peers through the opening, she soon
- 35:38swings the door open to reveal nothing, just an empty hallway
- 35:45leading to her sister's room across the way.
- 35:48At the same time, her sister Angela is still investigating
- 35:53the sounds coming from within the walls of her room.
- 35:59The banging has become more rhythmic, more aggressive.
- 36:03It seems as if someone or something is trying to get her
- 36:08attention. The sounds have been moving
- 36:11around her room and trying to pinpoint its location.
- 36:16She walks up to the wall beside her dresser and slowly places
- 36:20her ear close to the wall to listen.
- 36:25The banging instead has found her.
- 36:29With eyes wide. She steps back from the wall as
- 36:33the mysterious sound continues. Danin, meanwhile, unable to hear
- 36:40her sister's situation, closes her door and sits back on her
- 36:45bed. Almost as soon as she sits down,
- 36:49the knocking begins again, but this time it's shaking her
- 36:54entire tore. Scared, she rushes to put her
- 36:59head under her covers as each situation crescendos late into
- 37:04the night. The two poor girls are terrified
- 37:09and Needless to say, they don't end up getting much rest.
- 37:14The activity seems to cease at dawn the following morning.
- 37:21As their mom serves them breakfast.
- 37:24She notices that her two girls look exhausted asking what was
- 37:28going on with them. She is soon met with a series of
- 37:32questions such as was she the one knocking on the walls or on
- 37:38their doors? Was she walking all around the
- 37:41house and did she do these things all night long?
- 37:46Unsure of what to make of this, Jeanette hadn't heard anything
- 37:49throughout the night. She chalks it up to the girls
- 37:53dealing with the emotions of everything, moving homes and
- 37:58experiencing a new environment. She hoped that with due time
- 38:03they would warm up to the house and all would be well.
- 38:07The girls don't fully express their fear for lack of belief
- 38:11from their mom. So for this morning they
- 38:15continue to eat their breakfast together and try to move on to
- 38:20another topic as the girls go about their day.
- 38:25Jen would go upstairs to her girls rooms and investigate but
- 38:30would uncover nothing out of the ordinary.
- 38:34The renovations would continue and soon the firemen would find
- 38:38themselves within the basement of the home, described as unique
- 38:44with lots of debris. They demolish old boards and
- 38:48clear things out. As work toils on, the girls
- 38:53examine the backyard. They've never seen an area so
- 38:57big and although it's freezing outside, they've opted to
- 39:01explore. However, they begin to discover
- 39:06some strange things about their new playground.
- 39:10They first noticed strange symbols carved into numerous
- 39:13trees on the property. Unsure of what to make of this
- 39:18as kids do, they use their imaginations.
- 39:21They decide that they want to design a map to help them hide
- 39:25things. They will use these stars, as
- 39:29they call them, as markers on their map.
- 39:33The two continue to explore and soon make another even stranger
- 39:38discovery. What appears to be several
- 39:41chipped bones tied together with a lace like material is dangling
- 39:47from a low hanging branch of one of the trees.
- 39:52Thinking it was really weird, but again unsure of what to make
- 39:56of it, the two continue to play as previous items, debris and
- 40:04old demolition waste is removed from the basement.
- 40:08Those firefighters volunteering soon make a discovery of their
- 40:12own there underneath the old floorboards.
- 40:16Etched into the concrete below is an inverted pentagram.
- 40:22They soon call Jen to take a look, curious as to just what it
- 40:27could be, she comes down and sees it for the first time.
- 40:33As she glances at it, she begins to feel sick to her stomach.
- 40:38She instructs the men that she would like it covered back up,
- 40:43that she didn't want the girls to see it.
- 40:46The men would agree and simply lay new concrete over it, and
- 40:51this way her girls will never even know that it was there.
- 40:56The girls, however, still playing outside in their winter
- 40:59Wonderland, soon make yet another discovery.
- 41:05They begin to find several more stars made out of bones upon the
- 41:09ground. Thinking this was part of some
- 41:13game, they soon incorporate them into their play as well of the
- 41:18innocence of the child. Several days later, Jen has
- 41:26returned to work and has left Angela in charge of her younger
- 41:31sister. Angela has also been tasked with
- 41:35cleaning up the house. As she makes her way around
- 41:40checking off her list, she feels as if she's not alone.
- 41:45She keeps looking over her shoulder, but nothing seems to
- 41:49be there. Turning once again to get back
- 41:53to cleaning, within seconds she hears an ear shattering noise.
- 42:00Her eyes shoot to the origin of where she believed the sound had
- 42:04come from, and the poor girl can't believe what she's seeing.
- 42:09The entire kitchen has been flipped upside down, pans and
- 42:15dishes thrown out of their cabinets, silverware that was
- 42:20inside the drawer is now all over the place, and not knowing
- 42:25what else to do, she screams and flees.
- 42:31Hours later, Jen, upon arriving home from work, walks into an
- 42:37eerily quiet house in her own words.
- 42:42When I walked inside, everything was very quiet.
- 42:46I glanced into the kitchen and every cabinet, every drawer was
- 42:52emptied. The place looked like it had
- 42:55been ransacked. I called out for Angela but got
- 43:00no response, thinking her daughter had had a tantrum of
- 43:04sorts. Jing goes on the hunt for Angela
- 43:08after not receiving a verbal response from her.
- 43:11Running up the stairs, she finds her holding a stuffed animal and
- 43:18staring blankly ahead in her room.
- 43:21When confronted, Angela tells her mother what had happened and
- 43:26thankfully Jen believes her. She recognizes the sincerity in
- 43:32her child's eyes and voice. The following day, when both of
- 43:37the children are out, Jen greets a few workers down in the
- 43:42basement who are putting the finishing touches on things.
- 43:46One of them had found something while working.
- 43:51It was several old looking pieces of paper tied together
- 43:55with some kind of white lace. Handing the papers to Jen, she
- 44:00begins to unfurl the pages. The opening date goes back to
- 44:05the year 1927, the year that the home was originally built.
- 44:13Scouring the pages For more information from what she
- 44:17gathers, Jen makes out that the person who wrote this diary of
- 44:21sorts seems to be a young girl, perhaps the daughter of someone
- 44:27who had lived at the house in the past.
- 44:31As she continues to read, she finds out that the girl's name
- 44:35was Christina, and Christina's story took a rather dark turn
- 44:42within the diary. She began to describe how her
- 44:46father would hurt animals upon A star in the basement, and the
- 44:53descriptions became darker and more graphic as the pages
- 44:59progressed. Disturbed by what she had just
- 45:02read, Jen decides that no one needs to know about what went on
- 45:08here. That if the things written were
- 45:11true, that the past tenants were very sick people and she, now
- 45:17living there, wanted to wash her hands of all of their doings and
- 45:23pretend, essentially, that nothing happened in this place
- 45:27that her and her children now call home.
- 45:30And who can blame her? Except some things don't stay
- 45:34buried. The following day, as Jen is
- 45:38cleaning house, she is suddenly startled by a massive boom that
- 45:45rocks the entire house. Shocked initially by the
- 45:49unexpected blast, she realizes that it's coming from the
- 45:53basement below her. Worried that something had
- 45:57exploded, she apprehensively makes her way to the door and
- 46:02with flashlight in hand, slowly begins her descension down the
- 46:09stairs. Reaching the concrete floor, she
- 46:13scans the room for any signs of what could potentially have
- 46:17caused the commotion. Stepping forward and peering
- 46:22around, her flashlight suddenly dies.
- 46:27Jim then begins to feel as if the oxygen in the room is being
- 46:32consumed at a rapid pace and an overwhelming sense of dread
- 46:38begins to overtake her. Running up the stairs as fast as
- 46:43she can and slamming the door behind her, she felt as if she
- 46:48was in the presence of pure evil.
- 46:52Still worried and not knowing if it was something to do with the
- 46:56plumbing or what have you, Jen needs to address the potential
- 47:00cause but is too frightened to continue, so she lays it on the
- 47:06back burner, so to speak. Later that night, after she's
- 47:10fed the family dinner, Jen is busy cleaning up while Angela is
- 47:16in her room and Danine is taking a shower.
- 47:20Angela, who had been sitting on her bed and reading a magazine,
- 47:25suddenly begins to hear the faintest of whispers.
- 47:30It sounds like multiple people whispering at once from a
- 47:34distance. Perplexed, the child gets up and
- 47:39attempts to seek the origin of where these mysterious whispers
- 47:43are coming from. As she steps towards her door,
- 47:48the whispers wrote louder to the point to where some discernment
- 47:53is possible. The whispering seems to be a
- 47:56back and forth conversation amongst two people, but in a
- 48:01very secretive manner. Sounding like it's just outside
- 48:05of her door, Angela throws the door open only to reveal nothing
- 48:12but the hallway, and as she does this, the whispers
- 48:17simultaneously cease. Perplexed further, she closes
- 48:23the door and begins to head back to her bed.
- 48:27But the whispers start again, heading back towards the door,
- 48:32she listens in on the two again, and this time she begins to hear
- 48:37the name of her sister mentioned in this secretive conversation.
- 48:43Meanwhile, as Angela is having her own experience, the neem who
- 48:49is showering began to have her own experience as well.
- 48:54Feeling as if she was being watched but trying to shake the
- 48:58feeling off. She tries to finish her shower,
- 49:02but hearing the bathroom door creak open puts the poor girl on
- 49:06edge. Calling out of the steam tinted
- 49:10glass asking if it was her mother or Angela who had entered
- 49:15the bathroom, she has soon met with something horrifying.
- 49:21Although blurred by the steam on the glass, she sees the
- 49:25silhouette, the large creature. This thing appeared to have
- 49:30pointed ears and grotesque features.
- 49:34The scared young woman is reduced to terror in the corner
- 49:39of the shower, screaming for her mother.
- 49:43Across the hallway upstairs, Angela, who had overheard what
- 49:48sounded like two people whispering about her sister,
- 49:52pulls the door open when she hears her sister's cries and
- 49:57rushes towards the bathroom. At the same time, Jen also runs
- 50:02upstairs, startled by the cries of her daughter.
- 50:07They try to open the bathroom door, but it won't budget.
- 50:12It seemingly locks from the other side as the women
- 50:16frantically try to get inside to save Demine.
- 50:19She continues to scream for them as this creature presses its
- 50:24face and hand against the glass, unveiling black rotting skin,
- 50:33yellow eyes and sharp teeth. Finally, the door opens, as if
- 50:41the unseen hands keeping it closed vanished, rushing inside
- 50:46to assist the poor girl. They find her shaking with the
- 50:51shower still running. Turning off the water and
- 50:55placing a towel on her. Jane quickly gets all of them
- 50:58out of the bathroom. But now as they stand in the
- 51:02hallway, all of the doors within the home that were open close on
- 51:08their own. Simultaneously, a dark demonic
- 51:14chanting begins to fill the house as it grows louder and
- 51:20more oppressive, as if some abomination from their worst
- 51:25nightmare was inching ever closer.
- 51:29The fear amongst them exponentially grows.
- 51:33Running to Jen's bedroom, opening the door and rushing
- 51:38inside before closing the door behind them to barricade
- 51:42themselves from whatever was approaching.
- 51:46Jen holds the door shut in case whatever this thing is tries to
- 51:51come inside with all three of them in hysterical tears.
- 51:56They begin to cry for their father, Jen's husband, their
- 52:01slain protector. Something begins to slam into
- 52:06the door, trying to break it down as the noise outside
- 52:11intensifies. All three of them are
- 52:14desperately calling out for Curtis, although they don't feel
- 52:19his presence. Just as quickly as it had begun,
- 52:24the evil outside of the door and all of its chaos abruptly stop.
- 52:32The following day, Desperate to talk to someone but feeling like
- 52:37she'd be judged for being crazy, Jen contemplates who she can
- 52:42confide in. A longtime friend of her husband
- 52:46named Tony had been there for her and the girls since
- 52:51everything had happened. If anyone was going to believe
- 52:54her, it would be him. So she gives him a call and
- 53:00within 1/2 hour he arrives at the house.
- 53:04After sitting down together at the kitchen table, Jen explains
- 53:09everything to him, from the discovery of the pentagram in
- 53:13the basement to what they had been experiencing, and
- 53:17especially the horror that had taken place just the night
- 53:22before. After hearing Jin's synopsis,
- 53:26Tony decides to go into the basement to take a look around.
- 53:31After guiding him to the door, Jin refuses to go down with him,
- 53:36so after being handed a flashlight, Tony descends the
- 53:40stairs alone. In his own words, he didn't fear
- 53:45much in life, but while in the basement he couldn't help but
- 53:49get the feeling that something was watching him, as if there
- 53:54was an oppressive atmosphere of sorts.
- 53:57He had trouble breathing and wanted to get out of there as
- 54:01soon as he could. Suddenly as he walks around, he
- 54:06is spooked by the sound of a door rattling.
- 54:11As he approaches the door, the rattling continues, further
- 54:17unnerving Tony. Not wanting to delay the
- 54:20inevitable, he decides to throw the door open, and when he does,
- 54:27he reveals an empty room. There's absolutely nothing
- 54:33physically there. Already freaked out, he steps
- 54:37outside of the small room that the door concealed, and the
- 54:41moment that he gets outside of the doorway, the door itself
- 54:46slams shut. It was with this extra action
- 54:50that Tony decides it's time for him to get the hell out of
- 54:54there. Tony, who had worked over 25
- 54:57years as a corrections officer, truly feared very little, but
- 55:03what he had experienced down in that basement that day rattled
- 55:06him to the core. He explains what happened to Jen
- 55:11but decides to leave shortly after the experience moving
- 55:16forward to try and ease one another.
- 55:19While someone was showering, they decided to post someone
- 55:23outside of the door to keep the other company in case anything
- 55:28else happened. And interestingly, I've had to
- 55:31do the same thing in one of the homes that I lived in that was
- 55:35haunted, but that's a story for another day.
- 55:40But just so you know, I know exactly how they felt.
- 55:44With all of their money tied up in the house, Jen is desperate
- 55:48to try and find some kind of solution.
- 55:51Not a very religious person, but going on what she knew, she
- 55:56decides to call the Catholic Church for help.
- 56:00The following day, a priest arrives to assess the situation,
- 56:05conduct a blessing for the family.
- 56:08He not only agrees that there is something evil within the home,
- 56:12but strategizes with Jen on how to try and get rid of whatever
- 56:16this thing was. He conducts a blessing of the
- 56:20home, but also believes that it's important for Jen to find
- 56:24her inner faith and conduct blessings on a regular basis
- 56:29herself. So he provides her with gallons
- 56:34worth of holy water since the property is rather large in
- 56:38which she places into spray bottles.
- 56:42Try and cover every square inch of the home during these
- 56:45blessings. One night after conducting her
- 56:49blessing, Angela would become fairly withdrawn given the
- 56:54stress and trauma of the situation she found herself in.
- 56:59Went outside to the swing set they had in their backyard.
- 57:04With it being night time, Jen decides to keep an eye on her
- 57:08using the cameras that she had previously installed.
- 57:12As Angela contemplates life and swings by herself, it soon
- 57:18becomes apparent that she is not alone.
- 57:23Jen, who was occasionally looking up at the laptop screen
- 57:27where the cameras were being monitored, soon sees something
- 57:32strange surrounding Angela. Out of nowhere were several
- 57:39dark, hooded figures. Jen, whose heart had felt as if
- 57:45it was going to explode, rushes as fast as she can towards the
- 57:49back door and towards her daughter's location.
- 57:54Angela was unaware of the figures her mother had seen had
- 57:59been keeping a steady normal pace on the swing set, when
- 58:04suddenly she is thrust out of her seat at a furious pace,
- 58:10causing her to smack the snow packed ground incredibly hard.
- 58:16Upon impact she hears a horrendous crack.
- 58:20Crying out in pain and for her mother, Angela is greeted by
- 58:25Jen, who begins to throw holy water all around, where the two
- 58:30are screaming and cursing at the figures who had hurt her
- 58:35daughter. Scrambling to get her to their
- 58:38vehicle as fast as she can, Jen then drives her immediately to
- 58:43the hospital. Upon arrival and examination,
- 58:47they discover that her foot and ankle are shattered.
- 58:51The following day, after returning from the hospital,
- 58:55Angela now wears a boot on her leg and is forced to stay in
- 58:59bed, further isolating her and keeping her within the confines
- 59:05of the house. Things seem to be relatively OK
- 59:08during the day, but when the sun goes down, the home begins to
- 59:14come alive. One night, incapacitated in her
- 59:18room and with Jen out running errands with her sister, Jenna's
- 59:23alone on her bed. It's lightly snowing outside and
- 59:28the moonlight is peeking through her blinds.
- 59:32She begins to hear a faint knocking noise originating from
- 59:36her closet. Looking over, she notices her
- 59:41mirror looks strange, almost liquid.
- 59:45She then sees something that strikes absolute fear into her
- 59:50soul. A charred, black clawed hand
- 59:56begins emerging from her mirror slowly.
- 1:00:00And menacingly coming out more and more, beginning to scream,
- 1:00:08Angela does the only thing that she can do because she can't
- 1:00:12physically run away. Not only is her foot broken, but
- 1:00:17the mirror is right in front of her door.
- 1:00:20She quickly throws herself onto the floor and rolls underneath
- 1:00:25her bed, pinning herself as far back against the wall as she
- 1:00:30possibly can. The smell of decay fills the
- 1:00:34entire room as a creature slowly comes out of the mirror.
- 1:00:40From Angela's perspective, all she can see now is the gnarled
- 1:00:45feet of this entity as it steps towards the bed.
- 1:00:50Angela, grasping the home phone, frantically begins to dial her
- 1:00:56mother's number. On the other end, Jen picks up.
- 1:01:01She had been at the grocery store, but upon hearing her
- 1:01:05daughter screams, she leaves everything and immediately
- 1:01:10rushes towards the house. But she is 45 minutes away,
- 1:01:16pleading with her daughter to pray as she speeds on the slick
- 1:01:19roads, desperately trying to get home.
- 1:01:23She then hears a horrendous scream, something unearthly
- 1:01:29unlike anything she had ever heard before on the other end.
- 1:01:34And then the phone call drops. Angela, who had been uttering
- 1:01:40Hell Mary while on the phone with her mother, was suddenly
- 1:01:44met face to face with a demon. After rushing home as fast as
- 1:01:50she could, Jen opens the door to a dark and silent house.
- 1:01:55All the lights are off and she doesn't hear anyone or anything
- 1:02:02running up the stairs to Angela's room.
- 1:02:05She doesn't see her. With tears stringing down her
- 1:02:09face, she fears that the worst has happened, that whatever this
- 1:02:15horror was had hurt her daughter.
- 1:02:18She then hears the faintest whimper coming from underneath
- 1:02:22the bed. It's Angela.
- 1:02:25She's so weak and feeble that Jen has to drag her out from
- 1:02:30underneath the bed, relocating the girls to her room.
- 1:02:35Jen then searches for help online.
- 1:02:38She knows that her and the girls deserve a future, and at this
- 1:02:42rate, one of them may end up hurt again or worse.
- 1:02:48She discovers the number of a paranormal investigator by the
- 1:02:52name of Liz, calling the number out of desperation at
- 1:02:56approximately 3:00 in the morning.
- 1:02:58At this point, surprisingly, Liz picks up on the other end.
- 1:03:03After hearing Jen's harrowing story, she decides that she
- 1:03:08wants to help her and her family.
- 1:03:11Having researched the paranormal for over 15 years, she believes
- 1:03:16that she must conduct a cleansing of the home.
- 1:03:19So within several hours, shortly after Daybreak, Liz arrives
- 1:03:25accompanied by her friend and colleague, a woman who was a
- 1:03:30psychic medium by the name of Don Jolie.
- 1:03:35As soon as the ladies greet Jen at her door and step inside, Don
- 1:03:40begins to receive flashes of the past.
- 1:03:44She quickly believes that Colts conducted many rituals within
- 1:03:49the home, specifically in the basement, information that she
- 1:03:55had not been given ahead of time.
- 1:03:57She believes that these dark cults communicated with and
- 1:04:01purposefully conjured demonic entities, That the recent
- 1:04:06renovations had disturbed all the energy within the home.
- 1:04:11And on a side note, ironically, I also have experienced this as
- 1:04:16far as renovations disturbing any energy that can be within a
- 1:04:20home. But again, I'll share this at
- 1:04:22another time. After discussing what she
- 1:04:25believed to have happened within the house, the ladies decide to
- 1:04:29lay a circle of salt around the property.
- 1:04:32The idea being that it forms a barrier of sorts that no spirit
- 1:04:37can cross in or out of. To Jin, this was the beginning
- 1:04:43of the final showdown with these malevolent forces.
- 1:04:48After laying the circle whilst praying, the three head back
- 1:04:52inside where they light several bundles of sage.
- 1:04:57The three of them then, room by room, bless and cleanse,
- 1:05:03allowing the sage smoke to fill the air.
- 1:05:07Slowly but surely they do this for the entire house until they
- 1:05:13ultimately reach the basement, the apparent epicenter and the
- 1:05:19origin of the demonic activity. Together they descend the
- 1:05:24stairs, their chance of prayer filling the sage saturated air.
- 1:05:31Continuing throughout the basement, they began to hear
- 1:05:34what Jen and the children had previously heard, the loud
- 1:05:38chants, something in a language that they couldn't understand.
- 1:05:45And with each flick of holy water and prayer cast, they soon
- 1:05:50also begin to hear screams accompanying the chanting.
- 1:05:53And the whole episode slowly is reaching a crescendo.
- 1:06:00They finally approached the last space yet to be cleansed, the
- 1:06:05small room concealed by a door, the very same room that Tony had
- 1:06:12had his experience in. The door once again begins to
- 1:06:18violently shake. Wanting to finally end this, Jen
- 1:06:24approaches the door and throws it open, allowing the sage smoke
- 1:06:30to infiltrate the last remaining air of the home.
- 1:06:35While the three women prayed and flicked holy water into the
- 1:06:39space, suddenly flames erupted from the floor, revealing a
- 1:06:46screaming, charred demonic figure within, but only for the
- 1:06:54briefest of moments. Almost as soon as the screams
- 1:06:59were finished, leaving the women's mouths upon the side of
- 1:07:02this creature, the fire would extinguish and this long battle
- 1:07:09with the demonic would finally be over.
- 1:07:15The cleansing conducted by Liz and Dawn was indeed successful.
- 1:07:20Jen and her daughter still live in the home to this day.
- 1:07:24It just goes to show that evil forces that dwell just beyond
- 1:07:28the veil of this world have nothing but contempt for us.
- 1:07:33No tragedy, no sorrow can be grounds to be left alone, but
- 1:07:39rather they use these as exploits, ways to weaken, attack
- 1:07:47and consume those who are the most vulnerable.
- 1:07:51This family banded together and we're able to overcome the
- 1:07:55terror of the demonic, and for that I commend them.
- 1:08:02Just goes to show that love truly does conquer hate.
- 1:08:09Before we go, I did just want to say a few words about this
- 1:08:13incredibly scary case. I want to say that everyone
- 1:08:17involved, but especially Jen, Angela, and Dineen, not only
- 1:08:22given everything that they had gone through with the passing of
- 1:08:25Curtis, but everything as a result of the horrendous
- 1:08:29haunting, truly had strength. They endured it all, pressed on
- 1:08:36and fought for their house and lives, and it just proves to me
- 1:08:41that these women were ridiculously strong and brave
- 1:08:45and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them.
- 1:08:48I also hope that given all of the information that I could
- 1:08:52find, that I did their story justice with my version of it.
- 1:08:58I did also have just a few questions about the case itself.
- 1:09:03I'm curious just what Colts could have been around the area
- 1:09:07at the time. Obviously I tried to research
- 1:09:10these, but particularly regarding Colts or the occult in
- 1:09:14general, it's really difficult to find information,
- 1:09:18particularly on the Internet about a particular local group.
- 1:09:21You know, It makes you wonder what kind of rituals are being
- 1:09:24conducted and for how long. Just who exactly was behind
- 1:09:29them, as in the individuals, and just what entities they were
- 1:09:34attempting to connect with or conjure up because it seems as
- 1:09:39though they were successful. I'm also curious if any of the
- 1:09:43bones that they ever found were human or if they ever found any
- 1:09:49proof of human burial upon the land itself.
- 1:09:53All questions that we'll probably never have answers to,
- 1:09:57but questions that I had nonetheless.
- 1:10:00I did mention that I had a few experiences that were very
- 1:10:03similar to the experiences that this family had.
- 1:10:06In this story, I will be making a video on what my paranormal
- 1:10:10experiences were and the ones that kind of shaped me into the
- 1:10:13person that I am today and why I started Mystery Archives in the
- 1:10:171st place. If you'd be interested in

- 1:12:23There are certain realms of the paranormal and unexplained that
- 1:12:28seem to capture our imagination more than others, weaving
- 1:12:32themselves into legend and folklore, yet occasionally
- 1:12:37emerging as potential realities. One such entity that appears to
- 1:12:42dwell solely in the realm of fiction and fantasy is the
- 1:12:47vampire. However, despite the seemingly
- 1:12:51mythical nature of these immortal blood drinking beings,
- 1:12:55there are instances that Surface has purported encounters with
- 1:13:00these creatures, and one such account allegedly occurred in
- 1:13:05the tranquil English countryside.
- 1:13:08It is a tale that has become a. Curious part of local lore and a
- 1:13:12historic anomaly still discussed to this day.
- 1:13:16This is the untold story of the Crawglin Grange vampire
- 1:13:33in the idyllic countryside of Cumberland, northwest England.
- 1:13:37This tale began unfolding in 1875.
- 1:13:41It was that spring when two brothers, Edward and Michael
- 1:13:45Cranswell, along with their sister Amelia, ventured to this
- 1:13:49region and temporarily took up residence in a modest single
- 1:13:54home stone farmhouse known as the Kroglin Grange.
- 1:13:59Overlooking the picturesque valley and nestled near an
- 1:14:03ancient churchyard, the property owned by the Fisher family
- 1:14:08seemed to draw the siblings in. Initially intending a brief
- 1:14:12stay, the Cranswells found themselves captivated by the
- 1:14:15serene rural life, swiftly becoming familiar faces among
- 1:14:20the locals. Their initial plans for a
- 1:14:23fleeting visit gradually dissipated as an inexplicable
- 1:14:28force seemed to compel them to linger.
- 1:14:31The townspeople, unaware of the undercurrents brewing beneath
- 1:14:35the surface, welcomed the siblings with open arms,
- 1:14:40oblivious to the veil that hid their true intentions.
- 1:14:44That sweltering summer, an ominous presence seemed to
- 1:14:48linger. Casting a shadow over the quaint
- 1:14:51farmhouse as the relentless heat wave persisted, Amelia found
- 1:14:56herself tossing and turning, growing more and more
- 1:15:00uncomfortable. With the shutters flung open in
- 1:15:03a desperate attempt to coax in a cooling breeze, she lay awake,
- 1:15:08her gaze fixated on the inky blackness that shrouded the
- 1:15:12trees beyond. It was then that something
- 1:15:16caught her eye, a faint flickering that danced among the
- 1:15:20branches, gradually intensifying as it drew nearer. 2 pen pricks
- 1:15:26of light weaved their way through the darkness, their
- 1:15:30approach sending a chill down Amelia's spine.
- 1:15:34Despite the stifling heat. A sense of foreboding gripped
- 1:15:38her, an inexplicable dread that she could not explain.
- 1:15:44As the eerie lights drew closer, Amelia felt the dread growing
- 1:15:50and enveloping her, a thick and palpable fear that gripped her
- 1:15:55very being. The source of the flickering
- 1:15:58illumination emerged from the shadows behind the window pane,
- 1:16:03revealing a grotesque. Facade, A hideous brown face
- 1:16:09with blazing eyes that leered menacingly at her.
- 1:16:14Its clawed hands. Began to scratch at the glass,
- 1:16:18desperate to gain entry, though fortunately the window remained
- 1:16:24locked. Amelia found herself paralyzed,
- 1:16:28her voice trapped in her throat, unable to utter a sound as she
- 1:16:33trembled in silent terror, transfixed by the monstrous
- 1:16:38entity outside. As the creature's attempts to
- 1:16:42open the window escalated from mere scratches to peeling away
- 1:16:48the lead that sealed the pane's edges, Amelia's mind raised with
- 1:16:54unspeakable horrors, unable to comprehend just who or what
- 1:17:00sought to breach her sanctuary. When the window pane shattered
- 1:17:05onto the floor, the Bony claw like hand reached through,
- 1:17:12deftly unlocking the latch from within.
- 1:17:16Amelia's voice remained trapped, still paralyzed as a towering
- 1:17:22shadowy figure glided across the room.
- 1:17:27It seized her in its embrace, grasping her hair and forcibly
- 1:17:32yanking her head back, exposing her vulnerable throat.
- 1:17:38Despite her desperate attempts to move or cry out, she thus
- 1:17:42remained petrified, helpless against this monster.
- 1:17:47As the creature bent down, its teeth poised to Pierce her
- 1:17:51flesh, the searing pain finally unleashed a piercing scream that
- 1:17:58echoed throughout the night. Jolted awake by their sister's
- 1:18:02terrified cries, Edward and Michael Cranswell sprang into
- 1:18:07action, rushing towards Amelia's room.
- 1:18:11With a forceful thrust, they broke down the door only to
- 1:18:16witness a chilling sight, that shadowy figure swiftly escaping
- 1:18:21through the shattered window. Without hesitation, one of the
- 1:18:26brothers grabbed a fire poker and gave chase, determined to
- 1:18:32confront the intruder. However, the entity moved with
- 1:18:37an unnatural swiftness. It strides unnervingly long an
- 1:18:43inhuman as it leapt over the ancient church wall,
- 1:18:48disappearing into the Knights embrace.
- 1:18:51The brothers were left bewildered and unsettled.
- 1:18:56Amelia, shaken and bleeding from her neck, recounted the
- 1:19:01harrowing ordeal. Initially, she attributed the
- 1:19:06attack to a deranged individual, perhaps an escaped asylum
- 1:19:10patient, Her mind unable to comprehend the true nature of
- 1:19:15the assailant. The notion of a vampire, a
- 1:19:20creature of myth and legend, seemed too fantastical to
- 1:19:24consider. Deeply concerned for their
- 1:19:27sister's well-being, the Cranswell brothers decided to
- 1:19:31whisk Amelia away from the once peaceful, now terrifying
- 1:19:35confines of the Krawgling Grange.
- 1:19:38A long vacation in Switzerland, they.
- 1:19:40Hoped. Would provide her with the
- 1:19:43respite and recovery she desperately needed, allowing her
- 1:19:49to regain her strength and put the traumatic experience behind
- 1:19:53her. As they departed, an air of
- 1:19:57uncertainty lingered. A sense that the tranquil
- 1:20:01countryside harbored a sinister presence, a force that defied
- 1:20:06rational explanation. The events of that night.
- 1:20:10Had left more questions than answers in their wake.
- 1:20:15When they returned to Crogling Grange the following autumn.
- 1:20:19The memory of that traumatic night did not leave the family.
- 1:20:23With time, the siblings were determined to confront any
- 1:20:27sinister force that remained. The brothers meticulously
- 1:20:32arranged their sleeping quarters directly across.
- 1:20:36From Amelia's room. Ensuring a watchful eye over her
- 1:20:40safety, pistols were strategically placed within
- 1:20:44reach, just in case the creature did rear its head again.
- 1:20:49Amelia, still bearing the scars of the original attack,
- 1:20:53diligently secured her shutters each evening, fortifying her
- 1:20:58chambers. For a time, an eerie calm seemed
- 1:21:02to settle the countryside abode, lolling them to a false sense of
- 1:21:07security. The winter months passed without
- 1:21:11incident, however, as the first blossoms of spring unfurled, the
- 1:21:18familiar cold wind herald the soon return of the creature.
- 1:21:25One evening, Amelia's slumber was once again disrupted by the
- 1:21:30hauntingly familiar sound, a scratching and tapping against
- 1:21:36her window, now fortified with shutters to shield her from the
- 1:21:41horrific visage that lurked beyond.
- 1:21:45Bracing herself for the worst yet, clinging to the hope that
- 1:21:49it was merely an animal's doing, she mustered the courage to peer
- 1:21:53through the narrow gap at the top of the pane, left uncovered
- 1:21:58by the shutters protective barrier.
- 1:22:01There, hunched menacingly at her window, was the same wretched
- 1:22:06creature she had encountered before it, shriveled, grotesque
- 1:22:12appearance and burning ember like eyes glaring.
- 1:22:16This time Amelia's voice did not fail her, and she screamed as
- 1:22:21loud as she could, a desperate cry that jolted her brothers
- 1:22:26into immediate action. They burst forth from the house,
- 1:22:31pistols loaded and ready, in a frantic pursuit.
- 1:22:37They allegedly managed to strike the creature in the leg as it
- 1:22:40fled, but its unnatural speed and agility allowed it to evade
- 1:22:45their grasp. Undeterred, it fled towards the
- 1:22:49nearby graveyard, disappearing into the depths of the ancient
- 1:22:54crypt again. The brothers knew that they
- 1:22:58couldn't face the creature alone.
- 1:23:01The previous night's encounter had shaken them to their core,
- 1:23:05and the realization that others in the area had experienced
- 1:23:09similar harrowing visitations only added to the sense of
- 1:23:14unease that gripped them. Whispers of drained livestock
- 1:23:19and a young girl bearing inexplicable bite wounds spread
- 1:23:23like wildfire, fueling speculation that they were
- 1:23:27confronting a force beyond comprehension.
- 1:23:31The Cranswell brothers. Rallied the locals.
- 1:23:35Imploring any able bodied individuals to join their
- 1:23:39crusade. As the sun swept over the
- 1:23:42horizon, the small band of locals gathered, armed with an
- 1:23:47array of makeshift weapons, ready to confront the sinister
- 1:23:51creature that had plagued their once peaceful hamlet.
- 1:23:57Their footsteps echoing through the ancient graveyard as they
- 1:24:02approached the ominous crypt. Where the creature had sought
- 1:24:06refuge, the air hung heavy with a palpable sense of dread, as if
- 1:24:13the very stones themselves harbored secrets best.
- 1:24:17Left undisturbed, yet driven by a burning curiosity and a desire
- 1:24:24to restore tranquility to their community, they pressed on.
- 1:24:30As they neared the crypt's entrance, a hush fell over the
- 1:24:33group. The brothers exchanged a
- 1:24:36resolute glance, their grip tightening around their weapons
- 1:24:41as they prepared to venture into the abyss as they crossed a
- 1:24:46threshold. Into the gloomy.
- 1:24:47Crypt a chill. Ran down their spines, their
- 1:24:52torchlight cast eerie shadows across the defiled graves.
- 1:24:57Coffins torn asunder, their contents strewn haphazardly
- 1:25:02across the stone floor. A sense of unease gripped them,
- 1:25:07yet amidst the desecrated resting places, one coffin
- 1:25:11remained untouched. With bated breath, they pried
- 1:25:16open the lid, and what greeted them was a sight that would
- 1:25:21forever be etched into their memories.
- 1:25:24There, lying motionless within the confines of the coffin, was
- 1:25:29the very creature that had terrorized them.
- 1:25:33Its features now doled as if trapped in a trance like state.
- 1:25:39A fresh bullet wound marred its leg, a testament to the brothers
- 1:25:44earlier pursued, but it seemed to have little effect on the
- 1:25:48entity's unnatural existence. Realization dawned upon them, a
- 1:25:54chilling certainty that they were indeed confronting a
- 1:25:57vampire, a creature of myth and legend now made flesh before
- 1:26:04their very eyes. The whisper entails that had
- 1:26:07once seemed like mere folklore now took on a terrifying
- 1:26:11reality. The brothers knew that they
- 1:26:14could not allow this abomination to continue its reign of terror
- 1:26:19swiftly. They set about.
- 1:26:21Gathering the necessary materials determined to purge
- 1:26:25the entity from their midst. Once and for all, the crackling
- 1:26:30flames cast a glow upon their faces as they prepare to consign
- 1:26:35the creature to the cleansing fire.
- 1:26:39A ritual that would hopefully bring an end to the harrowing
- 1:26:42ordeal. As the flames licked at the
- 1:26:45creature's form, the brothers and their companions watched
- 1:26:49with a mixture of trepidation and relief, knowing that they
- 1:26:54had vanquished a force that had threatened to unravel the very
- 1:26:58fabric their existence. The smoke curled upwards,
- 1:27:04carrying with it the lingering remnants of a mystery that had
- 1:27:09once seemed unfathomable, yet had now been laid to rest.
- 1:27:14Forever etched into the annals of local lore, this rather
- 1:27:20dramatic and sensational tale was initially recounted by the
- 1:27:24English travel writer and author Augustus Hare, who included it
- 1:27:30in his multi volume 1890s autobiography The Story of My
- 1:27:36Life under the section titled The Beast of Krawglin Grange.
- 1:27:42The narrative reads like a chilling Horror Story, and given
- 1:27:46that Hare was known for publishing ghost accounts during
- 1:27:49an era when sensationally macabre and gothic pulp.
- 1:27:53Stories. Known as Penny dreadfuls were
- 1:27:56popular, one might assume it to be a work of fiction.
- 1:28:01However, Hare presented it as a completely real and factual
- 1:28:06account without any indication that it was a fabrication.
- 1:28:10According to him, he had personally heard the story in
- 1:28:141874 directly from the actual owner of Crockling Grange,
- 1:28:20Captain Edward Fisher Rowie, whose family had owned the
- 1:28:24property for generations. However, Hare neglected to cite
- 1:28:29many names or detailed locations or provide verifiable sources,
- 1:28:35leaving the reader to ponder the veracity.
- 1:28:38Of the events described, since Hare never admitted that any
- 1:28:42part of it was fictional and consistently presented it as
- 1:28:46fact, the account has become a perplexing mystery.
- 1:28:51Sparking endless debates as to whether any element of it is
- 1:28:55rooted in truth or if it was a product of either Hair's or
- 1:29:00Fisher's imagination. One of the earliest skeptics to
- 1:29:04scrutinize his published work was Charles George Harper.
- 1:29:08An English author and illustrator.
- 1:29:12Harper embarked on a personal quest to Cumberland in 1924,
- 1:29:17determined to get to the bottom of the alleged events at
- 1:29:20Krawgling Grange. However, his investigation
- 1:29:25yielded perplexing results. As Harper delved into the heart
- 1:29:29of the local community, he encountered a startling
- 1:29:32revelation. Not a single resident had ever
- 1:29:36heard of a place called Krawgling Grange, nor could they
- 1:29:40recall any whispers of its existence.
- 1:29:44It seemed as though this location had vanished into the
- 1:29:47mist of time. Leaving no tangible trace
- 1:29:50behind, undeterred, Harper scoured the countryside, seeking
- 1:29:56any semblance of the dwelling described in Hare's account.
- 1:30:01The closest he could uncover was a structure known as Kroglin
- 1:30:05Lohal, yet its characteristics diverged significantly from the
- 1:30:10haunting depiction. Not only was it situated over a
- 1:30:14mile from the nearest church, but it stood as a two-story
- 1:30:18edifice, defying the single story description of the Grange.
- 1:30:23Moreover, the adjacent cemetery bore no evidence of the sinister
- 1:30:28crypt that had allegedly harbored the malevolent entity.
- 1:30:33Harper's quest to substantiate the existence of the Cranswell
- 1:30:37siblings proved equally fruitless.
- 1:30:41Despite his meticulous efforts, he could find no records or
- 1:30:46accounts that corroborated their presence in the region.
- 1:30:50Compounding this perplexity was the scarcity of clear
- 1:30:54information provided in Hare's narrative, rendering any attempt
- 1:30:59to trace their footsteps an exercise in futility as Harper's
- 1:31:04investigation. Drew to a close.
- 1:31:07He found himself confronted with more questions than answers.
- 1:31:12The tale of the Kroglin Grange vampire, once presented as an
- 1:31:16unvarnished account of a supernatural encounter, now
- 1:31:20stood as a tantalizing controversy, its origins and
- 1:31:24truthfulness lost to time. This cast significant doubt on
- 1:31:29the authenticity of the Kroglin vampire tale, suggesting that it
- 1:31:34was either an intentional fabrication or an unintentional
- 1:31:38distortion of the truth. However, Harper's conclusions
- 1:31:44would face scrutiny in the 1930s, when researcher F Clive
- 1:31:49Ross embarked on his own investigation in Cumberland.
- 1:31:53Ross's findings painted a different picture, one that
- 1:31:57hinted at a kernel of truth buried beneath the layers of
- 1:32:02mystery. According to Ross's research,
- 1:32:05Crogland Lohal was indeed the location Harrod described,
- 1:32:10though the property had since been demolished and a Chapel
- 1:32:14erected in its place. Remarkably, remnants of the
- 1:32:18original structure remained, including the foundation stones
- 1:32:23of an ancient church and graveyard, the very same hollow
- 1:32:28ground where the sinister entity was said to have taken refuge.
- 1:32:34Even more compelling was the discovery.
- 1:32:37Of a bricked up window. Rumored to be the very one
- 1:32:41through which the vampire had first appeared, tormenting the
- 1:32:46unsuspecting, Amelia Ross's findings injected a newfound
- 1:32:51sense of intrigue into the narrative, suggesting that
- 1:32:55beneath the sensationalized elements, there may have been a
- 1:32:59genuine encounter that sparked the tale's origins.
- 1:33:04The existence of the church and graveyard lent credence to the
- 1:33:07idea that something inexplicable had transpired in this secluded
- 1:33:13corner of the English countryside, an event so
- 1:33:18profound that it interlocked itself into local folklore,
- 1:33:23evolving and transforming with each retelling.
- 1:33:28Was it a mere fiction, born from the fertile imagination of a
- 1:33:32storyteller? Or did it represent a distorted
- 1:33:36recounting of a genuine paranormal event, its details
- 1:33:41obscured by the passage of time? The answers remained elusive,
- 1:33:48and the tale would continue to captivate generations to come.
- 1:33:53However, further investigations shed new light on the narrative.
- 1:33:58It was discovered that others in the region had indeed heard the
- 1:34:01story. An old, mostly forgotten local
- 1:34:05myth in the Fisher family was very much real.
- 1:34:10One local resident even revealed that Kroglin Lohal had once been
- 1:34:15referred to as Kroglin Grange until 1720, suggesting that
- 1:34:22although Hare may have mixed up the dates, at least some
- 1:34:25elements of this tale held true. This aligned with the findings
- 1:34:31of a journalist, Lionel Fanthrope, who in recent years
- 1:34:36concluded that at Krogland Grange and a vault matching the
- 1:34:39one in the story had existed in the 1600s.
- 1:34:44While the full scope of. Events remained obscured the
- 1:34:47possibility that an inexplicable encounter had indeed transpired
- 1:34:53in the secluded corner of the English countryside.
- 1:34:57The tale and origin of the Krogland Grange vampire remains
- 1:35:00uncertain. While the evidence neither
- 1:35:03confirms nor denies the events described, the lack of concrete
- 1:35:07proof poses a significant challenge for those seeking to
- 1:35:11validate the existence of a bloodthirsty creature of the
- 1:35:15night stalking the English countryside in the 1800s.
- 1:35:21It is highly plausible that this account originated from an
- 1:35:25unreliable second hand source, perhaps Fisher himself, who may
- 1:35:30have fabricated the story, drawn inspiration from sensational
- 1:35:35Gothic literature of the era, or distorted factual elements
- 1:35:40beyond recognition. Alternatively, it could be the
- 1:35:44work of pure fiction crafted. By hair.
- 1:35:47Skillfully weaving real locations into a narrative
- 1:35:51presented as truth for dramatic effect, only to be misconstrued
- 1:35:57as a potentially genuine encounter in later years, taking
- 1:36:01on a life of its own. Or perhaps it was merely a
- 1:36:06mischievous jest, a playful attempt to captivate and
- 1:36:11perplex. The truth remains elusive,
- 1:36:15leaving us to ponder the possibility as something
- 1:36:18inexplicable transpired in the secluded corner of Cumberland,
- 1:36:24transforming with each retelling and baffling those who dive
- 1:36:30deeper. Thank you all for watching this

- 1:37:18The oldest of native Hawaiian chants described the Hawaiian
- 1:37:23Islands, the spirits that inhabit them, the forces of
- 1:37:28nature that shaped them, and all the living things upon them as
- 1:37:33inextricably connected. And perhaps the wisdom of the
- 1:37:37native peoples is true and not just.
- 1:37:41Folklore. When authorities are called to a
- 1:37:45residence for an incident. What they will.
- 1:37:48See will shake them all to their core.
- 1:37:51A supposed entity with an insatiable hunger for blood and
- 1:37:56corpses makes its presence known.
- 1:38:00Are the infamous tales true? This is what we will discover as
- 1:38:05we. Dive into the untold story of
- 1:38:07the haunted Kasha House of Kaimuki, located in Hawaii.
- 1:38:27Beyond the waters of its beaches and the lush green canopies of
- 1:38:32its forests, the tropical paradise of the islands of
- 1:38:36Hawaii are an idyllic home or getaway for many.
- 1:38:42However, within the mists, shadows permeate.
- 1:38:46And where the veil is thin between our world and the next,
- 1:38:52those shadows sometimes whisper. In Japanese folklore, the
- 1:38:58creature known as the Kasha paints a terrifying picture.
- 1:39:02Its name translates to Fire Cart.
- 1:39:06It is a creature that is known to frequent populated areas and
- 1:39:10where its diet consists of consuming the flesh of fresh
- 1:39:15human corpses. According to the lore, these
- 1:39:19creatures are a type of baki neko.
- 1:39:23Or a type of. Hellcat that lives among human
- 1:39:25beings under the guise of a common house cat or a stray.
- 1:39:32They are bipedal and larger than most people.
- 1:39:36When they make themselves known, they are accompanied by the
- 1:39:40flames of hell and strong thunderstorms are left in their
- 1:39:46wake. It is only during funerals that
- 1:39:49their true forms are revealed, and as a result, they are known
- 1:39:53to snatch the corpses of the freshly deceased and spirit them
- 1:39:59away to hell for punishment. A type of Grim Reaper, if you
- 1:40:04will. Akasha will animate a corpse as
- 1:40:07a puppet to do its bidding, and then we'll consume it as the
- 1:40:13ultimate punishment for one's misdeeds in life.
- 1:40:18Our story begins around 1940. On Oahu in Hawaii, in a large
- 1:40:24house that stands at 8th and Harding in Kaimuki, its
- 1:40:29foundation resting atop 2 beds of lava rock.
- 1:40:35The original story that began the infamy of the Kaimuki house
- 1:40:40tells of a young couple who moved into the home, hoping for
- 1:40:44a good and beautiful life together.
- 1:40:48But almost as soon as they moved in, this shared dream would
- 1:40:52deteriorate. The neighbors began hearing loud
- 1:40:57bangs and crashes almost every night.
- 1:41:01And as the episodes grew in intensity and suspecting that
- 1:41:06perhaps domestic violence could be taking place, one of the
- 1:41:10neighbors. Called the police.
- 1:41:13When the police arrived and questioned the couple, instead
- 1:41:17of seeing one or the other upset or abused, they told them
- 1:41:22something else instead. They began to divulge to the
- 1:41:26officers that they were being attacked by something that they
- 1:41:30couldn't see. What happened to the young
- 1:41:33couple following this particular night is unclear, but what is
- 1:41:37known is that they moved out a short while after the incident
- 1:41:42sometime later, on August 13th, 1942.
- 1:41:47On this day, an article would appear in the Honolulu Star
- 1:41:50Bulletin newspaper, one that described a bizarre happening
- 1:41:56that had just taken place, and this incident was supposedly
- 1:42:01caused by the evil doings of kahuna.
- 1:42:06For further context, in ancient Hawaii, treatment of the sick
- 1:42:11was based on the belief that poor health was caused by
- 1:42:15malevolent spirits or disease producing demons.
- 1:42:20Illness was considered the result of sorcery or, in some
- 1:42:24cases, the ramifications of one's actions.
- 1:42:29Among the Hawaiians, there existed a group, the kahunas, or
- 1:42:34those who were keepers of the secret, whose wisdom had been
- 1:42:39gained by divine guidance. Kahunas were grouped into
- 1:42:44various categories, some good and others bad, and sorcery was
- 1:42:50practiced by the group. It was known as the Kahuna
- 1:42:54Anani. So essentially kahuna is a form
- 1:42:58of witchcraft with both white and black magic.
- 1:43:03On the night the article referred to, police officers
- 1:43:06were called to a house by a woman during a strong
- 1:43:10thunderstorm. During the call, the lady kept
- 1:43:14repeating she's trying to kill my children over and over again.
- 1:43:21Her words kept being interrupted by loud crashes of Thunder and
- 1:43:26what sounded like items being destroyed in the background.
- 1:43:30Upon arriving and entering the house, the officers couldn't
- 1:43:35believe what they were seeing. Those present began to witness
- 1:43:40something that was truly horrific.
- 1:43:43The woman who had initially called was screaming in the
- 1:43:47corner of the main room as her three children were levitating
- 1:43:53before her and everyone. Upon approaching them, the
- 1:43:58officers as well as the children would be slapped, pushed and
- 1:44:04hurled across the room by a sinister, invisible force.
- 1:44:11The children were a brother and two sisters, ages 1018 and 20.
- 1:44:19The main officer in charge was a police Sergeant.
- 1:44:23Prior to the call, the family began to smell a very strange
- 1:44:27odor like that of sulfur permeating their home, and then
- 1:44:33the physical attacks began. As the force attacked those
- 1:44:37involved, the mother of the family ran into her room and
- 1:44:41returned with several items. She frantically began fanning
- 1:44:46tea leaves and began throwing salt towards the entity.
- 1:44:51After several minutes, her efforts seemed to work as the
- 1:44:56children and the officer were released from the clutches of
- 1:45:02whatever this thing was. The family and the officer would
- 1:45:07vacate the premise following this night of horror.
- 1:45:11The woman who had called the authorities believed that the
- 1:45:14happenings were a result of black magic that had been placed
- 1:45:18on her by her ex-husband whom she had recently left.
- 1:45:24This is no doubt probably the most famous stories surrounding
- 1:45:27the Kaimuki house, given the press it received in the various
- 1:45:31media outlets. But it certainly would not be
- 1:45:35the last. 30 years later, another incident would too
- 1:45:40garner the attention of the people.
- 1:45:43Another frantic late night call had dispatched a patrol car in
- 1:45:48Kaimuki. The girls who lived there had
- 1:45:51supposedly heard strange noises of someone moving around and
- 1:45:56talking inside of their house. At first, thinking someone had
- 1:46:01broken into their home, they phoned the authorities, but
- 1:46:05following the call the noises began to escalate in intensity.
- 1:46:10Then one of the women felt the ice cold grasp of a hand on her
- 1:46:17arm. The girls, all three, ran out of
- 1:46:21the home and sat in their. Car until the officer.
- 1:46:25Arrived upon hearing their story, he would go inside and
- 1:46:30check the home for an intruder, but would find no one.
- 1:46:35Deciding to spend the rest of the night with one of the girl's
- 1:46:38mothers, they asked the policeman to follow them to the
- 1:46:42mother's home to ensure their safety.
- 1:46:46As the girls drove in front of the officer, they began to
- 1:46:50erratically swerve from side to side, ultimately pulling into a
- 1:46:55vacant parking lot upon approaching the vehicle with
- 1:46:59concern. The policeman later wrote this
- 1:47:03in his report. As I approached the vehicle, I
- 1:47:08could see two of the girls screaming.
- 1:47:11The girl sat in the middle in the back was fighting a person
- 1:47:16that could not be seen. She was very clearly being
- 1:47:20strangled. I opened one of the back doors
- 1:47:24and reached into the vehicle and to my shock, a big, strong,
- 1:47:31calloused hand that could not have possibly been that of a
- 1:47:35teenage girl grabbed my arm and twisted it.
- 1:47:42Upon freeing myself, I called for backup.
- 1:47:46The answering officer was certainly prepared for a parking
- 1:47:49lot fight, but not one with a ghost.
- 1:47:54Within minutes, the other officer would arrive and with
- 1:47:58all the color drained out of his face, the original responding
- 1:48:02officer told him that there was a ghost in that car.
- 1:48:07By this point, all women involved had exited the car and
- 1:48:11were hysterical, crying and screaming.
- 1:48:15Continuing to quote the officer's report, I told the
- 1:48:19girl who had been choked to get in my patrol car and the other
- 1:48:23two women to ride with my fellow officer.
- 1:48:26But as soon as the young lady sat in my vehicle, which had
- 1:48:30stayed running during the incident, a motor died.
- 1:48:34It died and wouldn't start up again.
- 1:48:37Placing the girls back into their original car.
- 1:48:40The officer tried to start the vehicle again and it started as
- 1:48:45if nothing had ever been wrong. Wanting to get these frightened
- 1:48:49girls home safe, the original officer and the responding
- 1:48:53officer agreed to continue to follow them.
- 1:48:57But upon pulling out of the parking lot and almost as soon
- 1:49:00as they had driven about 5 yards, suddenly one of the
- 1:49:05girl's vehicles doors flew open and the same girl who had
- 1:49:10previously been attacked was thrown out of the vehicle.
- 1:49:15Upon rushing to her position to check on her, she was again
- 1:49:19tearing at her throat and making noises as if she was being
- 1:49:24strangled. She had also incurred some Rd.
- 1:49:28rash. Together, the two policemen were
- 1:49:32not strong enough to pull her hands away.
- 1:49:36Terrified and believing the matter to be a spiritual one,
- 1:49:40one of the officers ran into the nearby Oasis Cafe and came back
- 1:49:45with a handful of salt. And a glass of water.
- 1:49:49Which was spritzed upon everyone there, and as the drops touched
- 1:49:53the young woman, she finally was able to catch her breath again.
- 1:49:58In later interviews, the officer would tell the press that his
- 1:50:03grandmother had told him that this was a method to make ghosts
- 1:50:06go away. And perhaps his grandmother was.
- 1:50:11Right. Given the time frame in which
- 1:50:14these stories occurred, most involved may no longer be with
- 1:50:18us, so corroborating details is nearly impossible.
- 1:50:23But these tales have certainly made the Kaimuki house infamous.
- 1:50:27Now there are several possible explanations as to why and how
- 1:50:32the home became haunted by whatever paranormal entity or
- 1:50:36entities. Again, details are scarce, but
- 1:50:40I've done my best to research and put together the most
- 1:50:44cohesive theories possible. The first theory refers to a
- 1:50:49father who, after his wife told him that she was going to leave
- 1:50:53him, decided to do the unthinkable and in the lives of
- 1:50:58his two children and his wife that still resided in the home.
- 1:51:04The wife and son's bodies were buried in the backyard, but the
- 1:51:08corpse of the daughter was never found.
- 1:51:13The second theory is that of a strangelove triangle.
- 1:51:18A man was dating a woman who was dating another woman in secret
- 1:51:22without the man knowing and upon his discovery of his
- 1:51:27girlfriend's secret affair, he decided to take the lives of
- 1:51:30her, her girlfriend and ultimately himself within the.
- 1:51:36Walls of the Kaimuki house. The original house, from what I
- 1:51:41could gather, has since been demolished, and another home
- 1:51:45built atop where it once stood. And one of the many questions I
- 1:51:50have is this home haunted just as the original home was?
- 1:51:56Was the haunting, if it existed at all, the result of vengeful
- 1:52:01spirits of those who had met their demise there?
- 1:52:05The result of a bloodthirsty entity known as the Kasha, who
- 1:52:10would do anything to feed upon the flesh of the freshly
- 1:52:15deceased? Or was it something else?
- 1:52:20Was it perhaps the result of native Hawaiian black magic
- 1:52:24being practiced on the premises or nearby, or someone cursing
- 1:52:29another using this magic? We may never truly have the
- 1:52:33answers to these probing questions, but one thing.
- 1:52:38As for certain. There was once a place that
- 1:52:41harbored darkness, a black void that existed in the heart of
- 1:52:46paradise, the supposed home of the angry.
- 1:52:50Souls of the Dead. And possibly a creature from a
- 1:52:55world that is not our own. So if you see something that's
- 1:53:00beautiful on the surface, just know that one must be cautious
- 1:53:05because something evil could be lurking just beyond the shadows.
- 1:53:12Thank you guys so much for watching this new video.
- 1:53:15Hawaii is such a beautiful and cool place, full of culture and
- 1:53:19history and folklore, and I thought it was time to pay some
- 1:53:24respects and cover a story that originates from one of the

- 1:53:41Not to sound like a broken record, there are many episodes
- 1:53:44to come, including one I've been working on for a few months now
- 1:53:47that I'm. Really excited to share with you

- 1:53:56this one and want to dive into another paranormal mystery.
- 1:54:00And other than that guys, I appreciate each and everyone of
- 1:54:04you. This has been Cody here at
- 1:54:06Mystery Archives. Remember to please stay safe out
- 1:54:09there and take care along a section of Winding Rd.
- 1:54:22Tall rusted gates harbor dark secrets.
- 1:54:26Not an adventure for the weak. This place is known for an
- 1:54:31abundance of evil activity. As the weary wander through the
- 1:54:36rusted iron bars, the souls of the damned whisper, some will
- 1:54:42visit with wonder and others apprehension.
- 1:54:47And for good reason, for this place has spawned many legends.
- 1:54:53Stories of satanic cults, sacrifices, demonic possession,
- 1:54:59and a wide range of terrifying apparitions have allegedly
- 1:55:04revealed themselves. But are there any truth to the
- 1:55:08rumors? What are these bone chilling
- 1:55:11stories? What is it about the stretch of
- 1:55:14Rd. in Thornton, Co that has made it so infamous?
- 1:55:19That is what we will discover here on this episode of Mystery.
- 1:55:25Archives as we explore the gates of Hell of Riverdale Rd. of
- 1:55:31Colorado. All information provided is
- 1:55:47purely speculative. I've tried my best to find any
- 1:55:50and all information I could to the best to fit the stories and
- 1:55:55or see possibly where they could have come from or if there's any
- 1:55:59truth to them. Riverdale Rd., an 11 mile path
- 1:56:04located between Thornton and Brighton Co, has been a supposed
- 1:56:10hotspot for paranormal activity for decades.
- 1:56:14The earliest rumors tell us of a nearby Native American burial
- 1:56:19ground when it was in use. It's said that the tribe placed
- 1:56:23a curse upon the land to affect those who would disturb their
- 1:56:28dead. And as we've heard numerous
- 1:56:31times before, you don't mess with Native burial grounds.
- 1:56:36Nothing good ever comes of it. More on this later.
- 1:56:41Over the years, strange entities, those seeming to be
- 1:56:45half human and half animal, have been known to permeate the path
- 1:56:50ahead. Could these creatures have been
- 1:56:53the very feared skinwalkers of native folklore?
- 1:56:57Not all is evil with this rumor, however.
- 1:57:00There are both good and evil forces at work.
- 1:57:04They say that if you see a Gray fox along the road, then a
- 1:57:07benevolent entity has a grace to your trip.
- 1:57:11But if a coyote is what you see instead of a Gray fox, the path
- 1:57:16ahead is an ominous and malevolent one.
- 1:57:19We will certainly dive back into all of these rumors later, but
- 1:57:24the lore doesn't end here. It was nicknamed Closer to
- 1:57:28Modern Times for a variety of stories over the decades, and
- 1:57:33those of which I'll cover now in no particular order.
- 1:57:38Many people were lynched upon the trees surrounding the road,
- 1:57:42and many as sacrifices, some allegedly of former slaves by
- 1:57:48racist groups and others sacrifices committed by
- 1:57:53residents of the local community long ago.
- 1:57:57Whether the groups were one and the same cannot be
- 1:58:00distinguished. The Gates of Hell was once
- 1:58:03supposedly the home of a commune of Satanist Satanists who would
- 1:58:09do anything to keep their black church and its practices the
- 1:58:14secret. If anyone questioned the
- 1:58:16leadership, or if an outsider got too close to the truth, they
- 1:58:21would simply go missing. On the North End of the road,
- 1:58:26not too far from Hwy. 7, there once stood a large house,
- 1:58:31probably what most would consider to be a mansion, but
- 1:58:35the ruins of this building too harbor sinister secrets.
- 1:58:40Built by a very wealthy man for him and his family, the home was
- 1:58:45once quite the marvel to gaze upon, but the ability to look
- 1:58:49upon the structure would be short lived.
- 1:58:52Shortly after moving his family in, once construction was
- 1:58:56finished, the man began to change, growing colder, more
- 1:59:02distant and stranger. Located back behind the home was
- 1:59:07an underground cellar and taking the blood from the lives of
- 1:59:11those who had gone astray. It is here that they say he used
- 1:59:16black magic, riding strange symbols on the walls with their
- 1:59:21blood in order to try and conjure spirits and demons,
- 1:59:27perhaps in order to gain power and wealth.
- 1:59:32Behind the cellar is an old burnt tree which has some lore
- 1:59:36of its own as well. This was where some victims were
- 1:59:39supposedly hung and burned at the stake, leaving charred
- 1:59:44remnants. 1 fateful night as his family slept, the husband of the
- 1:59:51family crept up the stairs with an axe and without the others
- 1:59:57knowing he went room to room slaying his wife and his
- 2:00:03children. As their blood coated the floors
- 2:00:06of the house, this diabolical man seemingly demon possessed,
- 2:00:13then took fuel and dumped it all throughout the house.
- 2:00:17Lit it a. Flame and then stepped outside
- 2:00:20to revel in pure madness and what he had just done.
- 2:00:26Was it him or a demon inside of him?
- 2:00:29This will perhaps never know, but he apparently, once the home
- 2:00:34was partially engulfed in flames, then took a rope,
- 2:00:38fastened it to the charred tree behind his cellar and ultimately
- 2:00:43hung himself, his feet dangling inches above the ground as the
- 2:00:48home behind him was reduced to burnt rubble.
- 2:00:52Other versions of the story say the man disappeared and was
- 2:00:56never seen or heard from again. A pale white figure of a woman
- 2:01:01is said to haunt the grounds now can be heard screaming some
- 2:01:05nights when the wind is still. Those that visit the Gates of
- 2:01:10Hell area have reported, as previously mentioned, seeing
- 2:01:14strange animals, but they also report seeing and hearing
- 2:01:19stranger things as well. Disembodied voices, the feeling
- 2:01:24of being watched in the sensation of icy hands poking
- 2:01:30and touching them. Another very strange phenomenon
- 2:01:34that's said to exist is bloody human handprints materializing
- 2:01:39on the street signs with no rational origin.
- 2:01:44This place, like many, seems downright terrifying in my
- 2:01:47opinion. But is there any truth to any of
- 2:01:50these stories, or are they just that, stories?
- 2:01:55Well, here's what I found following what we covered in
- 2:01:59order. Thornton, Co was indigenously
- 2:02:04inhabited by several Native American tribes, most notably
- 2:02:09the Arapaho and the Cheyenne. Each tribe had very different
- 2:02:14burial methods. The Arapaho usually buried their
- 2:02:18deceased on the same day that the person had died.
- 2:02:22The body was dressed in their finest traditional clothing and
- 2:02:26a spacious grave was dug into the ground.
- 2:02:29The person was then buried with some of their personal
- 2:02:32belongings, such as clothing and blankets.
- 2:02:37Stones and other items would be placed on top of the grave to
- 2:02:41mark its significance and who was buried there.
- 2:02:45Arguably fairly similar to how the West buries people today.
- 2:02:50The Cheyenne, however, had a very different method.
- 2:02:53It's unclear how long it took them to typically lay someone to
- 2:02:57rest, but their funeral customs were that they would wrap the
- 2:03:01deceased in shawls and blankets, they would proceed to the
- 2:03:06designated burial ground, and during the procession a
- 2:03:10bloodletting practice would take place where ponies would
- 2:03:14typically be killed. They are interesting to me in
- 2:03:17numerous ways, but they wouldn't bury their dead.
- 2:03:21They would instead build a scaffold of sort and lay the
- 2:03:25dead on top of it. This was done in the belief that
- 2:03:28it would accelerate the soul of the departed's passage into the
- 2:03:32afterlife. For practical reasons it is
- 2:03:36believed that they did this in order to prevent wild animals
- 2:03:40from pillaging the corpse, which very well may have been the
- 2:03:44case, but typically the bodies would stay and sometimes decay
- 2:03:49and eventually fall back down to the ground.
- 2:03:52Now curses did exist for both tribes, but I couldn't find any
- 2:03:56of that specifically referenced burial sites and almost all
- 2:04:00people's beliefs disturbing the dead is considered.
- 2:04:03Very taboo. Could it perhaps be our
- 2:04:06collective regard for the eternal rest of those who have
- 2:04:10passed that have led us to the belief?
- 2:04:13That a burial ground could indeed be cursed.
- 2:04:16Also, skinwalkers, which are still feared to this day, were
- 2:04:21created when a person committed a heinous act like the killing
- 2:04:26of a family member, and this would grant them supernatural
- 2:04:30powers, allowing them to shapeshift from a human to an
- 2:04:35animal at will. They often become coyotes,
- 2:04:39wolves, foxes, or bears, though they can transition into any
- 2:04:45animal. Both coyotes and foxes are
- 2:04:48allegedly the omens along the road containing the gates of
- 2:04:52hell. When it comes to the supposed
- 2:04:55lynchings that took place, I found this in Colorado.
- 2:05:00It was a cheap way to execute criminals, and the majority of
- 2:05:04those that are documented, roughly 175 cases, were mostly
- 2:05:10the results of core rulings at the time, all over the state in
- 2:05:14the time being, the early 20th century.
- 2:05:17As far as if formal slaves were lynched, this very possibly
- 2:05:21could have taken place, but I couldn't find any that were
- 2:05:25directly linked to Thornton. In total, there were five events
- 2:05:30that were explicitly tied to race, but many took place again
- 2:05:35in the early 20th century. Albeit as horrific as they were,
- 2:05:40after 1919, lynch mobs occasionally flared up to dole
- 2:05:44out public justice. But as more people moved to the
- 2:05:48state, attitudes towards this type of behavior and action
- 2:05:53began to change. Therefore, public opinion as
- 2:05:57well as opinion of the courts moved away from this method of
- 2:06:00execution when it comes to the apparent satanic coal commune
- 2:06:05that supposedly lived there. I couldn't find any evidence of
- 2:06:09them no matter where I looked, but obviously if I was a secret
- 2:06:13colt and I was good at my job, I wouldn't have any evidence of my
- 2:06:18bloodthirsty existence on the Internet either.
- 2:06:22This now leads us back to the mansion where the name came
- 2:06:25from. The name Gates of Hell came from
- 2:06:28the old and rusted iron gates of a burned down mansion.
- 2:06:33A blaze that was the result of a madman who took his family out.
- 2:06:39Now there is proof of the mansion, who bought it, and what
- 2:06:43happened that caused it to burn down, but the truth is certainly
- 2:06:47less spooky than the legend. Before I dive into it, I wanted
- 2:06:51to also mention that it's more than likely that the charred
- 2:06:54tree was the result of either the original fire or of a
- 2:06:59lightning strike taking place. The mansion was originally named
- 2:07:03the Vulperd House. Built in 1864 by a man named
- 2:07:07David Volbert, this two-story brick house was a fine structure
- 2:07:12of dignity. David.
- 2:07:15Who was a very successful prospector along with his wife
- 2:07:19Catherine had two daughters and a son.
- 2:07:23However, even though fitting the time frame when the madman.
- 2:07:27Story supposedly took place. David didn't go crazy and harm
- 2:07:31his family. He actually would go on to pass
- 2:07:34away, presumably within the home, at the age of 75.
- 2:07:39What happened to his family members is unclear, but they
- 2:07:42most likely moved on and passed away from natural causes.
- 2:07:47The home, as far as I can tell, sat vacant from the early 1900s
- 2:07:52until 1975. This is when a man named Doctor
- 2:07:56Hugo Rhodic and his wife Ori and Sally Rhodic purchased the home,
- 2:08:02working hard on behalf of the Adams County Historical Society.
- 2:08:07The couple would go on to restore the home and live there
- 2:08:09for a short time, designating its status as a historical
- 2:08:14monument. Things seemed normal for the
- 2:08:16Rhodics until 1:00 AM on November 28th, 1975.
- 2:08:23The home, which stood at 9190 Riverdale Rd., became engulfed
- 2:08:29in flames. It's unclear whether or not the
- 2:08:32couple had any children or any that lived with them at that
- 2:08:36time, but the Rodicks would make it out of the blaze very much
- 2:08:40alive. And although the origin of the
- 2:08:42blaze was undetermined, the authorities at the time did
- 2:08:46determine that arson did not seem to be at play.
- 2:08:50Doctor Rodick would go on to live and ultimately passed away
- 2:08:54at the age of 102. It seems as though the Madman
- 2:08:59Mansion story, as I've come to see it, could possibly be a
- 2:09:03fictionalized amalgamation of both of the real stories
- 2:09:07surrounding the Vulpert House. The ruins of the home, as well
- 2:09:11as the original gates have since been demolished and the Pelican
- 2:09:16Ponds open space now sits in their place.
- 2:09:20Sometimes the truth isn't as fun as the legends that surround an
- 2:09:23area. And perhaps there could be more
- 2:09:26truth in some of these tales, perhaps the area.
- 2:09:29Itself is where the veil is thinner between our world and
- 2:09:33the next. It's hard to say, but one thing
- 2:09:37is certain, the folklore of America's vast, creative and
- 2:09:42entertaining, and it's incredible to see so many
- 2:09:46stories spawning from seemingly such an insignificant place,
- 2:09:51like a winding stretch of Rd. in the middle of Colorado.
- 2:09:54But what do you think? Do you have any stories about
- 2:09:58the Gates of Hell? Do you have any stories from
- 2:10:01your local? Community that have become
- 2:10:03legends, make sure to let me know down in the comments below.
