- 0:00Speaker 1: Drop it.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Drop it.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Big 98.7. Backstreet's back. All right.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Hey, I like that.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It might not quite be the Backstreet Boys, but Angie
- 0:11Speaker 1: is back in the studio today.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 0:14Speaker 4: How are you feeling, girl?
- 0:16Speaker 2: I feel like I still have a lingering cough. Isn't
- 0:18Speaker 2: that the final thing always? Always. Like you get back
- 0:22Speaker 2: to feeling as good as you can, but then it's
- 0:24Speaker 2: this little cough that tries to show up.
- 0:26Speaker 3: But other than that, I'm good.
- 0:28Speaker 2: And I had to take, I mean, I was gone
- 0:30Speaker 2: like four days last week.
- 0:32Speaker 4: I know.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Honestly, I haven't seen anybody since last Monday.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Does it feel so good to see real people again?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yes, because it was just me and the couch and
- 0:41Speaker 2: electrolytes trying to make it through.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Well, we're glad you're alive.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I remember talking to you on Thursday and I'm not
- 0:52Speaker 1: trying to be rude. But you sounded like garbage.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Oh, I know.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I talked to you a little bit on FaceTime, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: we had a conversation as well as you were being
- 1:01Speaker 1: very respectful of obviously trying to get yourself better. Well, yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 1: but also you.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Have a baby.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I do have a kid, yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so I didn't want to get Kaylee sick. If
- 1:10Speaker 2: you didn't have a kid, I would get you sick
- 1:12Speaker 2: all day.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Wouldn't matter.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Wouldn't matter.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And it sounds like it's something that might be going
- 1:17Speaker 1: around because you did post something on Facebook while you
- 1:19Speaker 1: were away from work for being sick here. And Catherine said,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think we have all had it get well soon.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And Becky also added feel better. Hit our house to
- 1:29Speaker 1: yay germs.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I think everybody going back to school and like
- 1:34Speaker 2: Mikey's a teacher. So he's got that set of germs
- 1:37Speaker 2: coming home.
- 1:38Speaker 3: And then my kids are at school.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And then none of them got sick. It was just me.
- 1:44Speaker 2: So that was great.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Here you go, honey.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Take all of this.
- 1:47Speaker 4: And then your boy's like, here, mom, you take it.
- 1:49Speaker 4: You be sick. So you had like double whammy.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I really did.
- 1:52Speaker 2: But I'd rather myself be sick than the kids or
- 1:55Speaker 2: than Mikey because I don't feel like taking care of
- 1:57Speaker 2: him if he's sick.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Because when a guy gets sick, it's the worst.
- 2:02Speaker 4: The end of the world. Seriously is. You guys are
- 2:05Speaker 4: kind of annoying. Gabe, yeah, you know. You don't know,
- 2:08Speaker 4: but we know.
- 2:09Speaker 1: When I'm sick, the entire universe is going to know
- 2:12Speaker 1: I'm sick because I will let you know how bad
- 2:13Speaker 1: it is. I can't move. I can't get out of bed.
- 2:16Speaker 4: It's like one little sniffle. Poor me.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Such a man thing.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I will say thank you, Megan, for stepping in because
- 2:24Speaker 2: I know Gabe was having some lonely days there and
- 2:27Speaker 2: it's just not as fun to do a show solo.
- 2:30Speaker 5: It's not. And he looked like a lonely puppy. Those
- 2:32Speaker 5: little puppy dog eyes like I'm just so lonely.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It is interesting when you're in the studio and this
- 2:38Speaker 1: is for anybody, but it is interesting if you are
- 2:40Speaker 1: in the studio or at your place of work. And,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know, you have your work bestie and they're gone.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And immediately you want to send them the middle finger emoji. Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 1: But hey, thanks. But when you're in here, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: you're sort of just like talking to four walls. And
- 2:55Speaker 1: Megan was nice enough on Friday to step in and go, hey,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you know what? I'm here. I'm going to hang out
- 2:59Speaker 1: with you and keep you company. So I didn't feel
- 3:01Speaker 1: like such a loner.
- 3:03Speaker 5: You and you did. You were so lonely. But yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 5: you need that.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Conversing. It helps sometimes.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And we enjoyed having Megan in the studio so much
- 3:12Speaker 1: on Friday that we were like, hey, you want to
- 3:14Speaker 1: just come back on Monday and hang out longer with us?
- 3:17Speaker 1: So thank you once again, Megan, for being here today.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Stay with us forever. Together we outnumber Gabe.
- 3:24Speaker 4: This is the best.
- 3:25Speaker 5: As somebody who grew up with three brothers, like It's
- 3:28Speaker 5: nice to have another girl on my side.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Okay, see, payback time.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Watch out.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You know, it is crazy when you think about the
- 3:34Speaker 1: amount of ladies I hang out with and am forced
- 3:36Speaker 1: to hang out with on a daily basis. Forced. You two, wife, daughter,
- 3:42Speaker 1: I have a girl dog, I have a bunch of
- 3:44Speaker 1: girl cats. You're welcome.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Sounds like you're the luckiest guy in the world right now.
- 3:49Speaker 3: That part.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Celebrating life's little victories. Victory. Every morning we practice gratitude
- 3:58Speaker 1: on Big 98.7. If I could, I would keep this
- 4:01Speaker 1: feeling in a plastic jar. Bust it out whenever someone's
- 4:04Speaker 1: acting hard. I just really needed to win, you know.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Share your little victories with us at 701-280-1987. All right, Megan,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'll let you kick it off here this morning. Do
- 4:17Speaker 1: you have a little victory today?
- 4:18Speaker 4: Talk about pressure right away. Actually, I mean, besides the
- 4:22Speaker 4: Vikings actually winning yesterday.
- 4:24Speaker 5: So I just moved into this new house of mine
- 4:27Speaker 5: and I have been slowly trying to unpack.
- 4:30Speaker 4: And you know how. when you like oh you have
- 4:32Speaker 4: a few things here I.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Have not decorated I haven't really like unpacked those boxes
- 4:37Speaker 5: until this weekend and now it actually starts to feel
- 4:40Speaker 5: like home like it feels cozy in there now right
- 4:44Speaker 5: like those decorations like you don't realize how much they
- 4:47Speaker 5: mean to you until they start going up in your
- 4:49Speaker 5: house yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Because those first you know for some of us months,
- 4:53Speaker 2: when you move in somewhere and you haven't unpacked anything,
- 4:57Speaker 2: it still just feels like, am I in a warehouse?
- 5:00Speaker 3: What is this?
- 5:01Speaker 4: It's echoing and all that. Yeah, no, I got all that.
- 5:03Speaker 4: That's all personalized.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It is. There is a sigh of relief that I
- 5:07Speaker 1: feel like anyone has when they move into somewhere. It's,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you know, whether it's weeks, months, sometimes maybe even a
- 5:12Speaker 1: year where you just like, oh, it's home.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I mean, don't get me wrong.
- 5:16Speaker 5: There's still a lot of boxes in the garage, but
- 5:17Speaker 5: at least it's starting to feel like home.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I love that.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Angie, do you have a little victory today?
- 5:22Speaker 2: I do not like carving pumpkins of all the, I
- 5:27Speaker 2: live for Halloween crafts, but carving pumpkins is not it.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And my kids also don't like it. So yesterday we
- 5:34Speaker 2: decided instead that we would paint skulls.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Oh, that's brilliant.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So I got these little like skull figurine things and
- 5:43Speaker 2: we took the time and we painted the skulls. I,
- 5:47Speaker 2: the boys though.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Not what you wanted?
- 5:50Speaker 2: They, And they are artistic children, but they also just
- 5:55Speaker 2: kind of do that thing where like, let me just
- 5:57Speaker 2: get this done. So a few of the skulls just
- 5:59Speaker 2: look like they were dipped in dog crap.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Just some graffiti or whatever.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Like it's not good.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah. But at least we did a Halloween craft.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And that's important to me because it's.
- 6:09Speaker 4: About to be October.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 3: It's spooky season. We got to be doing all the
- 6:13Speaker 3: crafts now.
- 6:14Speaker 4: And we need those pictures. We need to see them.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Oh, gosh.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Fine. Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I'll post. I'll post.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Well, coming up here at 641, Kaylee had a big weekend.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And so I'll have more of this story a little
- 6:26Speaker 1: bit later. But just a quick, short little victory for me.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And I never thought I would feel like this. But
- 6:31Speaker 1: I was with a bunch of friends and family this weekend.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And I was with some buddies, you know, Passing Kaylee around,
- 6:37Speaker 1: everyone taking a turn to hold her. And she was
- 6:39Speaker 1: getting kind of fussy with some of my buddies. Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And when she went back to dad, instantly not fussy,
- 6:46Speaker 1: which made me feel pretty good.
- 6:48Speaker 4: She likes you.
- 6:49Speaker 1: You recognize dad? That was one of those feelings I
- 6:53Speaker 1: didn't expect to have, and then I did. Yeah, right.
- 6:56Speaker 4: My daughter knows me.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Drop it, drop it.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Big 98.7. Baby, baby, baby.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Oh, like baby, baby. If you're just tuning in this
- 7:06Speaker 1: morning and do not know this, I have a two-month-old daughter.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Her name is Kaylee. Kaylee had her first big, giant
- 7:14Speaker 1: road trip this weekend.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 7:17Speaker 1: She has never been in the car for more than
- 7:20Speaker 1: whatever the longest car ride is in the FM area.
- 7:23Speaker 1: So 20 minutes?
- 7:24Speaker 3: 20 minutes, yes.
- 7:26Speaker 1: She hopped in the car and did a three-and-a-half-hour drive
- 7:29Speaker 1: to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house for the first time.
- 7:33Speaker 4: And?
- 7:34Speaker 2: And.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Thank all that is holy. She basically slept the entire time.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. What a dream.
- 7:41Speaker 4: I was just thinking that. Like, thank you, Lord.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to about, like, 30 minutes, 28 minutes.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And I could hear, like, wake up and kind of
- 7:51Speaker 1: ruffling behind me. And I'm going, oh, God, no. We're
- 7:55Speaker 1: so close. Can you please just shut your eyes again?
- 7:57Speaker 1: And she did. And then at about 15 minutes, she
- 8:00Speaker 1: did start to get a bit fussy. But at that point,
- 8:01Speaker 1: it's like, well, what's the speed limit? Because I'm going
- 8:04Speaker 1: about seven over it.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Wait, so she went to a different state, like they're
- 8:08Speaker 2: in Minneapolis, right?
- 8:10Speaker 1: That's right, yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 3: She already crossed state lines?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Corey and I were joking about that
- 8:16Speaker 1: in the car. There are some grown adult, like humans,
- 8:19Speaker 1: who don't go to a new state for like 30, 40,
- 8:21Speaker 1: if not 50 years.
- 8:23Speaker 4: But here she is, already two-stater girl at two months. Oh,
- 8:26Speaker 4: you need a third state by three months, I think.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I think we should make that happen.
- 8:30Speaker 3: A tri-state baby.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. She got to go to her first
- 8:34Speaker 1: Twins game, which she will never remember. What am I
- 8:37Speaker 1: good at?
- 8:38Speaker 4: As long as you have pictures to prove that it happened.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 1: One of my good buddies had these club level tickets,
- 8:45Speaker 1: you know, humble brag.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Oh, so she's already living the good life at two
- 8:50Speaker 4: months is what you're saying.
- 8:51Speaker 1: She wasn't, you know, up in the nosebleeds and sitting
- 8:55Speaker 1: in the rain. So it was very nice that we
- 8:57Speaker 1: if he didn't have those, she probably wouldn't have got
- 9:00Speaker 1: to go. just because it was raining. There was a
- 9:02Speaker 1: two hour delay. It was kind of a nightmare unless
- 9:06Speaker 1: we had that club level area to hang out in.
- 9:08Speaker 4: So did you stay the entire game with her?
- 9:11Speaker 1: We got to about the sixth inning. So but at
- 9:13Speaker 1: that point, we had been there for like five hours
- 9:15Speaker 1: or four hours or something like that.
- 9:17Speaker 4: And she lasted that long. It's impressive.
- 9:19Speaker 1: She did. She napped as we were walking in, which
- 9:23Speaker 1: was great.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Club style.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And then she napped from like the third inning to
- 9:28Speaker 1: the fifth inning or something like that. And then she
- 9:31Speaker 1: woke up and we everyone in the group.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Sixth inning stretch.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Everyone in the group was like, yeah, it's I
- 9:36Speaker 1: think it's probably time to go because I had buddies
- 9:38Speaker 1: who had kids and they were getting pretty fussy. I mean,
- 9:41Speaker 1: that's a long time for young kids to sort of
- 9:44Speaker 1: sit around and be entertained, you know.
- 9:46Speaker 2: The thing I'm gathering from this is that, Megan, you
- 9:49Speaker 2: and I are living a way worse life than a
- 9:51Speaker 2: two-month-old baby.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I'm so jealous.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I gathered that same thing where I'm like, you know what?
- 9:57Speaker 4: I unpacked at my house this weekend.
- 9:59Speaker 5: I was not up in club seats at a Twins game,
- 10:03Speaker 5: mind you.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It'll be very cool when she's older and can kind
- 10:05Speaker 1: of realize stuff and be able to... Tell her, hey,
- 10:09Speaker 1: you've been to a Twins game. Do you even know that? Obviously,
- 10:11Speaker 1: she's not going to remember it, but it was a
- 10:13Speaker 1: very cool family moment, so I don't mean to get
- 10:15Speaker 1: all family on you this early in the morning, but
- 10:17Speaker 1: it was pretty adorable.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Can you be our dad, Gabe? I know, I'm jealous.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Take us to the game, please.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Drop it, drop it. Big 98.7. This is Am I
- 10:27Speaker 1: the Problem?
- 10:28Speaker 5: It's me.
- 10:33Speaker 1: We'll hear one side of the story and with your help,
- 10:35Speaker 1: Am I the problem? decide if it's right or if
- 10:38Speaker 1: maybe you're the problem. I'm hardly the problem.
- 10:43Speaker 4: On Big 98.7.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Hi, Big 98.7. My name is Leanne.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Want to get your opinion on my decision to not
- 10:52Speaker 2: attend my cousin's wedding. No one can bring a plus
- 10:56Speaker 2: one unless you're married to the person. She wants to
- 10:59Speaker 2: keep the guest list down to keep the wedding small.
- 11:02Speaker 2: But I've been with my boyfriend for a year and
- 11:05Speaker 2: we live together now and she won't make an exception
- 11:08Speaker 2: for him. She said if he proposes, I can bring
- 11:11Speaker 2: him as a plus one. I told her I won't
- 11:14Speaker 2: be attending her wedding then. She seemed fine with it,
- 11:17Speaker 2: but probably because it keeps.
- 11:19Speaker 3: The wedding's small.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Saving 20 bucks on a plate there. Exactly.
- 11:23Speaker 2: But my parents are mad at me now. They said
- 11:27Speaker 2: it's a small family wedding and I should go and
- 11:30Speaker 2: that my boyfriend shouldn't be offended. My boyfriend isn't offended.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I am and I feel like I'm perfectly justified in
- 11:40Speaker 2: not going.
- 11:41Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 11:43Speaker 2: Is Leanne justified in skipping her cousin's wedding or are
- 11:48Speaker 2: her parents right in saying, hey, you should just bite
- 11:51Speaker 2: the bullet and go?
- 11:52Speaker 5: OK, as somebody who has lived with boyfriends before, I
- 11:58Speaker 5: think it's OK.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I agree.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I would not skip it personally because family is family,
- 12:04Speaker 5: especially if it's a first cousin. It's one thing if
- 12:05Speaker 5: it's like a third or fourth cousin, you're not that close,
- 12:07Speaker 5: like whatever, do that. But it sounds like it's a
- 12:10Speaker 5: close family member. I can see both sides, but I
- 12:14Speaker 5: think that you would regret it if you don't go.
- 12:17Speaker 5: You might not think that now, but future you will.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah. In 10 years, you'll probably go. I really should
- 12:23Speaker 1: have just went to the wedding. I'm not even dating
- 12:25Speaker 1: this guy anymore. I should probably go. I actually kind
- 12:28Speaker 1: of like when people sort of put their foot down
- 12:30Speaker 1: and stick to it. So I'm sort of a fan
- 12:32Speaker 1: of her being like, all right, I'm out. I'm not going.
- 12:35Speaker 1: There is something about standing 10 toes down and holding
- 12:38Speaker 1: to that. I wish we had more information about how
- 12:41Speaker 1: close her and this cousin were. Are they like good friends?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Did they grow up hanging out a lot?
- 12:45Speaker 4: Missing some info.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Yeah, did they? Is it like a cousin who lived
- 12:49Speaker 1: three hours away and you kind of saw him around
- 12:51Speaker 1: the holidays every year? So I am a fan of
- 12:54Speaker 1: when people say I'm not going to do something and
- 12:56Speaker 1: then don't do it. So I don't know if that
- 12:58Speaker 1: is me picking a side or not. I would say
- 13:01Speaker 1: if you don't want to go, you want to support
- 13:02Speaker 1: your boyfriend. Don't go.
- 13:04Speaker 3: What are your thoughts? 701-280-1987.
- 13:08Speaker 2: We also have this up on the big 98.7 Facebook page.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Is Leanne justified in skipping her cousin's wedding because she
- 13:15Speaker 2: won't allow the plus one?
- 13:17Speaker 1: What would you say?
- 13:19Speaker 2: Gosh, I think just leave your boyfriend at home and
- 13:22Speaker 2: go to the wedding.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I think it's. Oh, silly hill to die on.
- 13:27Speaker 2: And as much as I live to die on a
- 13:29Speaker 2: silly hill, I feel like this one.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Just go.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Your parents are mad at you.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I can't stand my mom being mad at me. So
- 13:38Speaker 2: I would just go.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I've also never not had fun at a wedding.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So you're going to go there and you're going to
- 13:43Speaker 1: have fun. I mean, maybe just leave. Leave boy toy
- 13:46Speaker 1: at home for one weekend and you'll be fine.
- 13:48Speaker 4: It's a vacation from the boyfriend.
- 13:49Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 13:53Speaker 4: 701-280-1987.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Where do you stand on today's Am I the Problem?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Let us know this morning. Big 98.7.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Leanne's cousin is getting married, but the rule is you
- 14:07Speaker 2: don't get a plus one unless you're married. Leanne has
- 14:10Speaker 2: a boyfriend of a year, and she thinks she should
- 14:13Speaker 2: be able to go. Her cousin's like, no, we're keeping
- 14:16Speaker 2: the wedding small. And so Leanne has decided, fine, I'm
- 14:20Speaker 2: not going to.
- 14:21Speaker 3: The wedding then. And her cousin was like, all right.
- 14:24Speaker 2: But now Leanne's parents are mad at her, saying it's family.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You should go even if you can't bring your boyfriend
- 14:31Speaker 2: with you. So what do you do in this situation?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yeah, 701-280-1987. Let us know what you think this morning.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Call us. Give us a text. Megan and I are
- 14:42Speaker 1: kind of on different sides of the table, sort of.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Sort of is right.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Well, I honestly think that she's going to re-read it
- 14:50Speaker 5: down the way because it's family.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:52Speaker 4: And one day you're going to look at it and
- 14:53Speaker 4: be like, I should have went. All my family was there.
- 14:56Speaker 5: I think especially if you're closer, like your first cousin
- 14:59Speaker 5: or something like that.
- 15:00Speaker 4: I just that's what I think.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I like when people say they're going to do
- 15:03Speaker 1: something and then actually stick to it. So if you're
- 15:06Speaker 1: not good, if you say I'm not going to go
- 15:08Speaker 1: and then you go. For the rest of the life
- 15:11Speaker 1: you have with your family, you're the girl who threatened
- 15:14Speaker 1: to not go to a wedding and then, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: chickened out and showed up. So stand ten feet or
- 15:20Speaker 1: ten toes down and you stay home and support that
- 15:23Speaker 1: man of yours.
- 15:24Speaker 2: We also have this up on Facebook and it looks
- 15:27Speaker 2: like everybody is split decision like with themselves.
- 15:31Speaker 4: They're like, I see both sides.
- 15:33Speaker 1: OK, thanks for going out on a limb.
- 15:37Speaker 2: So I think for me, I would go with Megan
- 15:41Speaker 2: on this one. I would go just leave the boyfriend
- 15:43Speaker 2: at home, whatever. But if your cousin seemed fine with it,
- 15:48Speaker 2: because Leanne said her cousin was like, all right. then
- 15:51Speaker 2: I think the real question is, can you handle your
- 15:54Speaker 2: parents being mad at you? And I personally cannot. I'm
- 15:59Speaker 2: very terrified of my mother. And so if she was
- 16:02Speaker 2: going to be mad at me, I would do anything
- 16:03Speaker 2: for her to not be mad. So I think, Leanne,
- 16:06Speaker 2: that's kind of you got to decide. Is it worth
- 16:09Speaker 2: it to you to, you know? Stand 10 toes down,
- 16:13Speaker 2: as Gabe would say, but have your parents be mad?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Or do you just, like, bite the bullet and go?
- 16:18Speaker 3: Me and Megan are going to the wedding for you.
- 16:20Speaker 4: If you want.
- 16:20Speaker 3: We can.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I know.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Please.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Plus, we're not plus ones. We're now family.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 1: We also just got a text from Jenna who said
- 16:29Speaker 1: she's another split decision. I get both sides. The cousin
- 16:32Speaker 1: has every right to keep her guest list small. And
- 16:34Speaker 1: Leanne has every right to say no. But the parents
- 16:37Speaker 1: are the one I'd be mad at. Leanne, she said,
- 16:40Speaker 1: if your boyfriend truly doesn't care, maybe just go and
- 16:43Speaker 1: have fun. If it still bothers you, don't just don't
- 16:45Speaker 1: let it turn into a family feud. I think that's
- 16:48Speaker 1: probably the most sound advice we've seen so far.
- 16:50Speaker 4: The biggest one.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Don says, I personally think it is ridiculous that you
- 16:54Speaker 5: can't bring a plus one, but it is her wedding,
- 16:56Speaker 5: her rules.
- 16:57Speaker 4: And since you're both fine with it, everyone else just
- 17:00Speaker 4: needs to move on. Mom and dad need to move on.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Leanne, he just told your parents to shut up.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I think weddings, you know, you hear all the time,
- 17:10Speaker 1: like it's the bride and groom's day. They can make
- 17:12Speaker 1: and set whatever rule or expectation they want, which is true.
- 17:16Speaker 1: The one decision they don't get is if you go
- 17:18Speaker 1: or not. So you don't, you don't have to feel
- 17:20Speaker 1: any pressure to be there. You know what I'm saying?
- 17:22Speaker 1: Like if you don't like what a groom or a
- 17:24Speaker 1: bride has going on at a wedding, you.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Can stay home.
- 17:26Speaker 5: I mean, and her cousin Leanne already says she's fine
- 17:29Speaker 5: with her not coming again.
- 17:31Speaker 4: How old are your cousins? Like they're trying to save money.
- 17:34Speaker 4: So I guess. You know, not having you there is
- 17:37Speaker 4: what she's okay with.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I mean, per plate can be expensive.
- 17:43Speaker 1: We did just also get a text from Kayla who said,
- 17:46Speaker 1: Leanne is not the problem. A year together and living
- 17:49Speaker 1: together is a serious relationship. If my cousin invited me
- 17:54Speaker 1: but told me my partner wasn't welcome, I'd stay home too.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Her cousin can plan a small wedding, but Leanne doesn't
- 18:00Speaker 1: have to attend. Also, parents need to back off. Kayla
- 18:06Speaker 1: coming in hot from West Fargo this morning.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
- 18:09Speaker 3: I do not.
- 18:10Speaker 2: This going against the parents is making me sweat.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 18:15Speaker 4: I couldn't do it. But your mom might get mad.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Mine would just be disappointed. And that's worse.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Not mad. I'm just disappointed. Now, speaking of the rain,
- 18:33Speaker 1: we received this voice memo from over the weekend. And
- 18:37Speaker 1: for some reason, I kind of feel like this was
- 18:39Speaker 1: directed at Megan a little bit. Also, if you're just
- 18:41Speaker 1: tuning in this morning, Megan hung out with me a
- 18:43Speaker 1: little bit last week and we just had so much fun.
- 18:46Speaker 1: We decided to bring her on into the big 98.7
- 18:48Speaker 1: studio with Angie and myself. Angie is also back, so
- 18:52Speaker 1: big round of applause for that.
- 18:54Speaker 3: No longer sick, but we're keeping Megan forever.
- 18:57Speaker 1: That's right, and I've got this voicemail, and Megan, you
- 19:00Speaker 1: are a dog mama. You have two beautiful, what are they, Aussie?
- 19:04Speaker 4: They're mini Aussies, yes.
- 19:05Speaker 5: Also can be terrifying because they're scared of everything.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Well, I heard this voice memo and I went, I
- 19:12Speaker 1: think this is kind of directed at Megan. So take
- 19:15Speaker 1: a listen to what Sarah sent us over the weekend.
- 19:17Speaker 1: My dog loves walking in the rain. The sunshine, he's
- 19:20Speaker 1: okay with, but the rain, he wants to be out
- 19:23Speaker 1: there all day and night. Is anyone else's dog like this? Megan,
- 19:27Speaker 1: do you have any dogs that prefer walking in the
- 19:30Speaker 1: rain than 70 and Sunny?
- 19:32Speaker 5: You know, my dogs don't mind going out in the rain,
- 19:34Speaker 5: but they come in pretty quickly because Mama says I
- 19:37Speaker 5: don't need wet-smelling dogs the whole time.
- 19:40Speaker 4: And I don't want to be walking out in the
- 19:42Speaker 4: rain the entire time either. That sounds miserable.
- 19:45Speaker 1: So, like, you know, between one and four today when
- 19:47Speaker 1: we probably see a little rain in the FM area,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to see out there with boots and
- 19:51Speaker 1: the rain jacket and the hat.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, I will put those on. Now go potty.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Now inside.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Let's go fast. It is incredible the things we would
- 19:59Speaker 1: do for our pets. Like I have a dog and
- 20:01Speaker 1: I've taken her for walks in blizzards. I've taken her
- 20:04Speaker 1: for walks.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 20:05Speaker 1: 10 degrees outside. And now Angie, I know you don't
- 20:09Speaker 1: have a pet, but you have expressed at some point
- 20:12Speaker 1: wanting like a pig in your life.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Oh, that's right. Yes, I did. I used to have
- 20:16Speaker 3: a pig back in the day.
- 20:18Speaker 2: R.I.P.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Willie.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And I would like a pig again in this life.
- 20:24Speaker 2: But pigs are really low maintenance.
- 20:27Speaker 3: And I feel like.
- 20:28Speaker 2: With dogs, like you really do.
- 20:30Speaker 3: You have to really love having a dog.
- 20:34Speaker 4: You do.
- 20:34Speaker 2: To actually like have one and be a good pet
- 20:37Speaker 2: parent to them. Because that's what I don't get about.
- 20:40Speaker 2: How do you two do it in the weather that
- 20:43Speaker 2: we have here in Fargo? Like.
- 20:46Speaker 1: What?
- 20:47Speaker 5: Especially like come like 30 below winter, like wind chill,
- 20:51Speaker 5: all that.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I bundle up like you wouldn't believe.
- 20:55Speaker 5: And you basically see the squint of my eyes because
- 20:58Speaker 5: I actually I wear ski goggles.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Who am I lying?
- 21:00Speaker 5: I literally have the warmest coat that hangs down to
- 21:03Speaker 5: my knees that I could find.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Plus the boots with the fur that come up all
- 21:07Speaker 4: basically to my knee.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Well, Rhino would be proud.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Thank you. Because my dogs love the snow. Absolutely love it.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. So you're not doing rain, but the
- 21:17Speaker 3: snow you'll endure?
- 21:19Speaker 1: I will.
- 21:19Speaker 3: You really love them.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I do. Yeah, at that time of the year, that's
- 21:22Speaker 1: when I get, like, the bib overalls that are lined
- 21:25Speaker 1: and the boots, the whole nine yards. My dog, Winona,
- 21:28Speaker 1: she has a jacket that has a harness, like, connected
- 21:32Speaker 1: to it. We've gone about as far as you can
- 21:35Speaker 1: go to make her as comfortable as possible walking around
- 21:38Speaker 1: in the winter. You know, she's got the boots and
- 21:40Speaker 1: all that, the whole nine yards. Oh, yeah.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Megan, do your dogs have... like winter clothes.
- 21:45Speaker 5: Ride that once upon a time when I first got Mozzie,
- 21:48Speaker 5: which is my older one. And he walked funny and
- 21:51Speaker 5: he literally bit them off his feet, like yanked him
- 21:54Speaker 5: off as fast as he could. And now, now because they're,
- 21:57Speaker 5: they've got a longer fur. All he wants to do
- 22:00Speaker 5: is roll around. And if you are not throwing snowballs,
- 22:04Speaker 5: he will.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Be so mad at you. Oh my gosh, he's like
- 22:07Speaker 4: a kid. He loves it.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Like he will look at the snow so hard and
- 22:10Speaker 5: then at you like, why are you not throwing that
- 22:12Speaker 5: at me right now?
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, give me something to chase that it explodes when
- 22:16Speaker 1: it hits the ground.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Oh, he tries to catch him in the air. It's
- 22:19Speaker 4: his favorite thing in the world. When it snows, I will.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Take video because he's the happiest dog in the world
- 22:25Speaker 5: when it happens.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And speaking of all the things we do that are
- 22:28Speaker 1: probably a bit ridiculous for our dogs or our pets,
- 22:32Speaker 1: you have the chance to vote to get a like
- 22:35Speaker 1: a mayor with your your dog or cat.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Yeah, this is actually people in Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead
- 22:41Speaker 5: and Horace can put their own pets on the ballot
- 22:43Speaker 5: to be have their either dog or cat be the
- 22:46Speaker 5: mayor of the Red River Valley. Like there's nominations going
- 22:50Speaker 5: through October 2nd and then the voting. They will pick
- 22:53Speaker 5: a candidate. who's ever got the most votes from each town.
- 22:57Speaker 5: And then on, I believe on the 16th is when
- 23:00Speaker 5: the voting's done. And the inauguration happens at Rover Days
- 23:04Speaker 5: at the Red River Market.
- 23:05Speaker 4: How cute is that?
- 23:07Speaker 1: That's what Megan's been doing for the past two and
- 23:09Speaker 1: a half hours, just voting for this.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Just voting for Dawkins. Okay, well, send me the link.
- 23:13Speaker 3: This is adorable.
- 23:14Speaker 4: They are cute because they even have slogans. I'm just saying.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Stop. Give me one of the slogans.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Well, one of the cats is nine lives and nine terms.
- 23:23Speaker 5: But I think my favorite.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I like that.
- 23:27Speaker 5: Is Oliver from Fargo says belly rubs will be free.
- 23:30Speaker 4: This is non-negotiable.
- 23:32Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Vote them in right now.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm sold. Get to voting. What's the website people can
- 23:36Speaker 1: vote at, Megan?
- 23:37Speaker 4: It is pets.buildwithnovel.com.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Drop it. Drop it.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Big 98.7.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I need some good. Starting off the day with something good.
- 23:47Speaker 1: This is Gabe's Good News on Big 98.7. When I
- 23:52Speaker 1: learned this this morning, I instantly started thinking of dad. Because.
- 23:59Speaker 1: After the hottest summer on record, a lot of lawns
- 24:03Speaker 1: in the FM area looking crispy, looking yellow, looking burnt.
- 24:07Speaker 1: We have that in common. Experts are saying that brown
- 24:11Speaker 1: doesn't mean dead. So if you're sitting there going, oh, man,
- 24:13Speaker 1: my lawn's dead. Well, it's not. That's right. It's just dormant.
- 24:17Speaker 1: It's kind of like hibernating. And with cooler fall temperatures
- 24:21Speaker 1: and a recent... inch of rain probably going to add
- 24:24Speaker 1: to that at some point today lawns are starting to
- 24:27Speaker 1: bounce back look closely for tiny lagreen shoots especially in
- 24:32Speaker 1: those shady spots keep your mower set high around three
- 24:35Speaker 1: and a half to four inches and if your grass
- 24:37Speaker 1: is growing fertilize it by the end of september i
- 24:40Speaker 1: can just feel my dad going sigh of relief my
- 24:44Speaker 1: front lawn isn't completely shattered.
- 24:46Speaker 5: Same as my dad, but also thank you for all
- 24:48Speaker 5: the tips this morning because I was literally talking yesterday
- 24:51Speaker 5: about how I.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Need to mow the lawn now because it became green
- 24:55Speaker 4: and it grew. Like what just happened?
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah. What about you, Angie? How's your lawn holding up?
- 24:59Speaker 2: I thankfully rent and landscaping is part of that.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Heck yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 2: And I just look out the window and feel joy
- 25:07Speaker 2: because I didn't have to do that.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, there was a point in time with my backyard
- 25:11Speaker 1: where the lawn, I mean, it just, and there's not
- 25:13Speaker 1: a ton you can really do. You know, it was
- 25:15Speaker 1: the hottest summer on record. We do have a sprinkler
- 25:17Speaker 1: system back there, but it's pretty tough to keep up
- 25:20Speaker 1: with the hottest summer ever.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Not to mention in some places they ask you not
- 25:24Speaker 4: to water your lawn.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yep. So if your lawn is looking dusty, crusty,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and like it belongs in Vegas, I have good news
- 25:31Speaker 1: for you. It is or will bounce back. And you
- 25:34Speaker 1: know my favorite quote. We end the show every single
- 25:36Speaker 1: day with this. The world is full of nice people.
- 25:38Speaker 1: If you can't find one, you've got to be one.
- 25:40Speaker 1: And broken crayons, they still color.
