  Speaker 1: hearts and their minds, and be able to apply these

  Speaker 1: verses to their lives. And the Lord Jesus Christ name

  Speaker 1: I pray. Amen. So we're gonna be in Matthew chapter
• 0:24
  Speaker 1: seventeen tonight, and then I'm gonna do another episode on
• 0:29
  Speaker 1: loneliness and boredom. What does the Bible say about it?

  Speaker 1: bit in the beginning. It is Matthew chapter seventeen. And

  Speaker 1: it's been a great day. And that's because I got
• 0:55
  Speaker 1: back to something that I love doing that I have
• 0:59
  Speaker 1: no I've been consistently doing in a very long time,
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: and that's just going to shoot basketball hoops. You know,
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: nothing crazy, no fool. And when I mean crazy, nothing crazy,
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: no full court, no three on three. It was just
• 1:16
  Speaker 1: me in the basketball court, in the basketball and it's
• 1:20
  Speaker 1: just something that happens mentally, spiritually, physically when I do that.
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: And for my self esteem, I mean, I can keep
• 1:30
  Speaker 1: going down the list. My confidence this that because I'm
• 1:34
  Speaker 1: very I'm not only passionate about basketball. I'm pretty good.
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: I'm not great. I'd be in the NBA. But anyways,
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: I've given you enough time. Matthew, Chapter seventeen, and this
• 1:46
  Speaker 1: is going to be three disciples. See Jesus talk with
• 1:50
  Speaker 1: Moses and Elijah and verse one states. Six days after that,
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: Jesus asked Peter and the two brothers James and John,
• 1:58
  Speaker 1: to go with him. Jesus led them up a high
• 2:02
  Speaker 1: mountain by themselves. Verse two. Peter, James, and John saw
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: Jesus change in front of them. He became different to
• 2:14
  Speaker 1: look at. His face was bright like the sun. His
• 2:18
  Speaker 1: clothes became very white, and they shun Verse three. Then
• 2:24
  Speaker 1: Moses and Elijah appeared in front of the three disciples.
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: They were talking with Jesus. Verse four states Peter said
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: to Jesus, Lord, it is good that we are here.
• 2:35
  Speaker 1: If you want, please let me build three huts. One
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: hut will be for you, one hut will be for Moses,
• 2:43
  Speaker 1: and one hut will be for Elijah. Verse five states
• 2:47
  Speaker 1: while Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud appeared. It
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: covered them all. A voice spoke from the cloud, and
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: it said, this is my son, and I him. He
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: makes me very happy. Listen to him. The disciples heard
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: the voice, they threw themselves down to the ground. They
• 3:09
  Speaker 1: were very frightened. But here it comes. Jesus came to them,
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: and he touched them, and he said, stand up, do
• 3:19
  Speaker 1: not be afraid. And it says do not be afraid
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: in the Bible over three hundred times for a reason,
• 3:25
  Speaker 1: because Jesus knew that we were going to be afraid.
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: Jesus also in this first six verses, also in a
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: particular moment of this time that they were up in
• 3:42
  Speaker 1: the mountain, right, he changed his appearance. Looked now, he
• 3:47
  Speaker 1: didn't change his clothes. His appearance changes, and they and
• 3:52
  Speaker 1: they notice it. Right. But when the thing about it
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: is that happens to us too as disciples, as followers
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: of Christ, and it's not necessarily just the outer appearance changes.
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: There is a lot of times where excuse me, there
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: are a lot of times where it's really just the
• 4:18
  Speaker 1: inner that changes and not too much on the outside changes.
• 4:22
  Speaker 1: But that's also why we got to really realize and
• 4:24
  Speaker 1: to put into consideration, is that you can't judge a
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: book by its cover. You've heard that saying, right, you
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: don't know what the Holy Spirit has done to a
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: person by first impressions or going off of gossip of
• 4:42
  Speaker 1: what others may have said about their past. We all
• 4:45
  Speaker 1: have a past. So if you hear somebody talking about
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: somebody else's past, that person that's telling you that might
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: not want to face theirs, or they just have their
• 4:58
  Speaker 1: own issues. And let's just make it clear, right, there's
• 5:02
  Speaker 1: nobody that's perfect, but Jesus a man. Let's just keep
• 5:05
  Speaker 1: it moving. That was pretty deep right there, and somebody
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: needed that. But Jesus came to them and he touched them.
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: He said, stand up, do not be afraid. And then
• 5:16
  Speaker 1: now we're in verse eight. When they looked up, they
• 5:20
  Speaker 1: could not see anyone else. Only Jesus was there with them.
• 5:25
  Speaker 1: While they were walking down the mountain, Jesus said to
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: the three disciples, you must not tell anyone now about
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: the things that you have just seen. One day the
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: son of Man will die and then he will become
• 5:38
  Speaker 1: alive again. Then you can tell people about these things.
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: And what I'm obtaining from verse eight and nine is
• 5:47
  Speaker 1: that how we can apply this to our lives. Right,
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: just because something great happens, or we do something great
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: and people see it, right or people don't, you know,
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: we don't have to necessarily be boasted about it. We
• 6:04
  Speaker 1: don't need to be rewarded by others right by what
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: we do for others. God is going to reward us
• 6:15
  Speaker 1: on his time. And there's another thing that ties into
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: this as well, is that it can't be all revealed
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: to every single person, almost impossible during that time, right,
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: we're talking Jesus' time. But also it's Jesus was very
• 6:40
  Speaker 1: strategic about what he was doing. He was very good
• 6:45
  Speaker 1: at time management. He was connected to the source, God
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: himself almighty. So how do I say this the intelligence
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: of Jesus right being able to time everything right, letting
• 7:08
  Speaker 1: certain people know this, certain people know that, certain people
• 7:10
  Speaker 1: know this was for the purpose of those that seen
• 7:22
  Speaker 1: what they've seen to really remember who Jesus really is.
• 7:29
  Speaker 1: And there's a time and place for everything and when
• 7:35
  Speaker 1: we try to apply these verses to our lives, right,
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: how many times do we go off and I know
• 7:40
  Speaker 1: I've done it, and I tell people, Oh, I got
• 7:43
  Speaker 1: this already, I got this job, or I did this
• 7:46
  Speaker 1: or did that and it doesn't fall through, or it's
• 7:49
  Speaker 1: not just a job, it could be anything, right, And
• 7:55
  Speaker 1: I'm learning I'm definitely not proud practicing the aspect of
• 8:03
  Speaker 1: that being able to keep things private that need to
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: be private. Right. I'm a very open person. I have
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: the heart on the sleeve kind of person, but there's
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: certain characteristics. The traits are transforming. As I continue to
• 8:26
  Speaker 1: follow Christ and continue to stay in the Word, and
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: as I continue to be a member of the Church,
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: as I continue to praise Him, the more that I
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: stay closer to Him connected to faith, I'm changing. I'm changing.
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: The things that were really good for me, that were
• 8:50
  Speaker 1: uncomfortable for me at first, are no longer uncomfortable for me. Now,
• 8:55
  Speaker 1: that does not mean that I don't get uncomfortable during
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: this process. I know that I will carrying on as well.
• 9:04
  Speaker 1: But I know that just because I get these feelings
• 9:07
  Speaker 1: and these emotions and these anxieties and these doubts, are
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: these fears. I don't have to hang on to them.
• 9:16
  Speaker 1: I can let them go. They're gonna come, regardless if
• 9:19
  Speaker 1: I have faith or not, They're gonna come. Because there's
• 9:22
  Speaker 1: been plenty of times where I have been angry, I've
• 9:25
  Speaker 1: been fearful, I've been you know, the list goes on
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: right before being a believer of Jesus Christ, and I
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: know the difference. That's why I can speak on this
• 9:35
  Speaker 1: because I also know how it feels to be a
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: non believer, right. I also know how it feels to
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: be a believer, and now I know how it feels
• 9:43
  Speaker 1: to be a follower. There is a transitional period of
• 9:47
  Speaker 1: time for especially some of the elite. And I'm not
• 9:52
  Speaker 1: sitting here trying to toot my own halo, but the
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: more and more that's revealed to me, right because I
• 10:00
  Speaker 1: follow Jesus, I don't just believe in Jesus and just
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: go to church on Easter. And I'm not trying to
• 10:09
  Speaker 1: downplay for people that don't go to church. And church
• 10:12
  Speaker 1: is a hospital for sinners. That's the house of God.
• 10:18
  Speaker 1: That's where you're supposed to go, not when you just
• 10:21
  Speaker 1: need money or help. In that aspect, it's more spiritually
• 10:30
  Speaker 1: it's for your spirit and being able to realize that
• 10:39
  Speaker 1: with these verses, how Jesus was so timely managed properly.
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: We should follow those footsteps. Don't tell everybody everything. Not
• 10:50
  Speaker 1: everybody needs to know all about your life. And I'm
• 10:53
  Speaker 1: not just speaking for you the listener. I'm speaking for
• 10:55
  Speaker 1: myself as well. Amen. So verse ten, then these how
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: much time we got? All right, we got a little
• 11:06
  Speaker 1: bit more time. Let's finish it up. Let's try to
• 11:08
  Speaker 1: get to verse fifteen. Then the three disciples said to Jesus,
• 11:13
  Speaker 1: the teachers of God's law say that God's prophet Elijah
• 11:18
  Speaker 1: must return first before the Messiah comes. Why do they
• 11:21
  Speaker 1: say this with the question mark verse eleven. Jesus replied, yes,
• 11:26
  Speaker 1: Elijah does come first. He gets everything ready. But I
• 11:33
  Speaker 1: tell you that Elijah has already come. People did not
• 11:38
  Speaker 1: recognize him. They did to him all the things that
• 11:44
  Speaker 1: they wanted to do. In the same way, they will
• 11:48
  Speaker 1: also cause me, the son of a man, to suffer.
• 11:52
  Speaker 1: Then the disciples understood that Jesus was talking about John
• 11:56
  Speaker 1: the Baptist. And as we get into closing out, this
• 11:59
  Speaker 1: is where Jesus disciples cannot make a boy. Well, then
• 12:05
  Speaker 1: Jesus said, and this is on verse fourteen Matthew, chapter seventeen.
• 12:08
  Speaker 1: And the three disciples reached the place where the crowd was.
• 12:12
  Speaker 1: A man came to Jesus. He went down on his
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: knees in front of him. He said to Jesus, please, Lord,
• 12:18
  Speaker 1: be kind to my son. His body shakes and he
• 12:22
  Speaker 1: cannot control it. He suffers very much. Often he falls
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: into the fire, or he falls into water. I brought
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: the boy to your disciples, but they could not make
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: him well. Jesus replied, and this is how we'll close out.
• 12:38
  Speaker 1: You people today still do not believe in God. You
• 12:42
  Speaker 1: have turned away from him. I have been with you
• 12:46
  Speaker 1: for a long time, and still you do not believe.
• 12:49
  Speaker 1: It is difficult for me to be patient with you. Then,
• 12:55
  Speaker 1: Jesus said to the man, bring the boy here to me.
• 13:01
  Speaker 1: In order to receive God's blessing, you must believe. You
• 13:06
  Speaker 1: have to have faith. And you can only imagine how
• 13:12
  Speaker 1: difficult it was for Jesus as we close out, to
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: have done all these miracles, to be even cast it
• 13:25
  Speaker 1: out right, and as blaspheming, and so many different things
• 13:30
  Speaker 1: that took place. But Jesus knew who he was. He
• 13:36
  Speaker 1: stayed in that character, not ten different characters like we
• 13:42
  Speaker 1: do these days, right like with our personality disorders and
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: whatever else. He stayed in character. He knew who he was,
• 13:51
  Speaker 1: he knew his purpose, he knew his divine mission, and
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: nobody was gonna shake that, not even the people that
• 13:58
  Speaker 1: he chose, his disciples. His disciples had right, the authority
• 14:06
  Speaker 1: to do what Jesus did. But there were there were
• 14:09
  Speaker 1: obvious times where excuse me, there were obviously times where
• 14:15
  Speaker 1: the disciples kind of lost a little bit of faith,
• 14:21
  Speaker 1: lost a little bit of hope. And when you do that,
• 14:24
  Speaker 1: you lose your authority and you're not focused on Jesus.
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: You're focused on the crowd, You're focused on the noise.
• 14:31
  Speaker 1: You're focused on what you do have and what you
• 14:34
  Speaker 1: don't have. And that's why it's a necessity to spend
• 14:39
  Speaker 1: time with Jesus in relationship, have the Holy Spirit be
• 14:42
  Speaker 1: with you, Allow God to reveal some things to you.
• 14:46
