- 0:00Speaker 1: The nests determines what you mean when you say I
- 0:05Speaker 1: love you versus what I mean when I say I
- 0:12Speaker 1: love you. The nest determines the value you place on work,
- 0:21Speaker 1: on integrity, on keeping your word. All of it is
- 0:28Speaker 1: shaped by the nest you came from. You can take
- 0:33Speaker 1: somebody out of the hood, but the question remains, can
- 0:40Speaker 1: you take the hood out of somebody? He seized? God
- 0:52Speaker 1: bless you, my friends. I am so excited. This is
- 0:55Speaker 1: the message everybody's been talking about. I'm glad to be
- 0:57Speaker 1: able to share it with you our church, with myth
- 1:00Speaker 1: arise by it. I used to teaching too, to create
- 1:03Speaker 1: a metaphor of what is going on in a lot
- 1:05Speaker 1: of our lives. I want you to understand. The message
- 1:08Speaker 1: is called don't die in your nest, and I want
- 1:10Speaker 1: you to understand quite clearly, it is not death that
- 1:12Speaker 1: I am afraid of, for Jesus has taken the sting
- 1:15Speaker 1: out of death and the victory out of the grave.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It is not death that intimidates me. What scares me
- 1:21Speaker 1: to death is that I would die without living purse.
- 1:25Speaker 1: The message is don't die in your nest. Don't die
- 1:29Speaker 1: where you got started. Take a look at this this
- 1:31Speaker 1: will help you. The eagle is a mic bird. From
- 1:35Speaker 1: tip to tip, its wings spread out span over nine
- 1:39Speaker 1: feet in each direction. It is unlike any other bird
- 1:45Speaker 1: in its ability to see. Its vision is so keen
- 1:48Speaker 1: that it can see even in the dark for miles.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It is a strong bird, uniquely set us out from
- 1:57Speaker 1: other birds. The eagle makes love in the air, but
- 2:12Speaker 1: you better stay on the ground. The male eagle and
- 2:19Speaker 1: the female eagle make love in the air. They wrap
- 2:23Speaker 1: up in each other's wings and they spiral downward thousands
- 2:27Speaker 1: of feet in the air. And as they spiral downward,
- 2:29Speaker 1: they make love in the middle of the air. I
- 2:33Speaker 1: think that God had them to do that so that
- 2:36Speaker 1: the eagle would not cohabitate with chickens. Yes, you'll get
- 2:51Speaker 1: it when you get home. There's a certain height that
- 2:56Speaker 1: you have to be in order to interact with the eagle.
- 3:00Speaker 1: The eagle does not cross breed with just anything that's
- 3:04Speaker 1: got wings. You have to have a certain mindset, a
- 3:09Speaker 1: certain mentality. You have to be framed in a certain
- 3:14Speaker 1: way and have a certain vision, a certain keenness and precision.
- 3:18Speaker 1: To earn the right to make love with an eagle,
- 3:21Speaker 1: you have to be an have to be for the
- 3:29Speaker 1: eagle goes where lesser birds cannot fly, so it can
- 3:35Speaker 1: do what lesser birds cannot do. Part of its uniqueness
- 3:42Speaker 1: is not just in its physiology, but its uniqueness is
- 3:47Speaker 1: entrapped in the way that it trains it's young. Unlike
- 3:51Speaker 1: other birds who make nests, some on the ground and
- 3:56Speaker 1: some birds make nests in trees, species of the eglet
- 4:02Speaker 1: of the of the eagle make their nest in high places,
- 4:08Speaker 1: in mountain peaks, on cliffs, so that the eagle is
- 4:13Speaker 1: born up high to keep to keep the eglet from
- 4:24Speaker 1: having a low mentality. When it first opens its eyes,
- 4:33Speaker 1: it's already in a high place. It's it's it's it's mother,
- 4:41Speaker 1: if you will, has been collecting sticks and branches and
- 4:48Speaker 1: flying high into the mountain peaks and finding a cliff.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It begins to gather the sticks and build a nest,
- 4:59Speaker 1: anticip hating the birth of its jump. This process can
- 5:03Speaker 1: take a long period of time to get the nest ready,
- 5:08Speaker 1: so that when the eagle gives birth, the nest is
- 5:15Speaker 1: already built. I got on the phone and I told him,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I said, I want a nest. They say, excuse me,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I said, I want a nest. They said, we got
- 5:24Speaker 1: a bad connection. I said, I want you to build
- 5:27Speaker 1: me a nest by Sunday because I got a message
- 5:31Speaker 1: I want to preach. So they have been working all
- 5:44Speaker 1: week to build this nest. The nest is built before
- 5:55Speaker 1: the eggs are hatched. If you're waiting for me to preach,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I'm already preaching. The nest is a collection of branches
- 6:13Speaker 1: from where the mother has been. It is the historical
- 6:26Speaker 1: reference to every place the mother has been. She brings
- 6:33Speaker 1: something to the nest before the eggs are ever laid.
- 6:41Speaker 1: The mother's story is in the sticks the eagles eggs.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Don't get to pick its nest. You pick your friends,
- 7:04Speaker 1: but you don't pick your family. You just come here
- 7:11Speaker 1: with whatever you come here with. You don't get to
- 7:16Speaker 1: pick the personality of the family, whether they are soft
- 7:21Speaker 1: spoken or brawlers. When my wife and I first dated,
- 7:26Speaker 1: my wife's family is real quiet and calm and laid back,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and not mine. Our family is the kind of family
- 7:37Speaker 1: that we talk with our hands. We yell and scream
- 7:41Speaker 1: and laugh and hit each other. When you make a
- 7:44Speaker 1: good point, we make faces and yell and noises. And
- 7:49Speaker 1: when her family came to our family dinner, they were
- 7:52Speaker 1: like they thought it was going to be a fistfight
- 7:58Speaker 1: right in the middle of dinner. Because because our family
- 8:01Speaker 1: is expressive like that, now I thought her family was sleep.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I started depending on to see if they was alive.
- 8:11Speaker 1: We don't get to pick that. We are born into it.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We step into it. And everything we learn from our neighbors,
- 8:24Speaker 1: from our friends, from our associations, from our generation, from
- 8:31Speaker 1: our political perspectives all helped to shape up who we are.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And all of these experiences helped build the nests. It
- 8:45Speaker 1: makes us become who we are and think the way
- 8:50Speaker 1: we think, and it frames our perspectives and opinions and
- 8:57Speaker 1: how we react when we are a Greek or fred
- 9:03Speaker 1: or worried. It's all in the nest. Never marry anybody
- 9:16Speaker 1: without checking out the nest the nest. The nest determines
- 9:30Speaker 1: what you mean when you say I love you versus
- 9:35Speaker 1: what I mean when I say I love you. The
- 9:41Speaker 1: nest determines the value you place on work, on integrity,
- 9:51Speaker 1: on keeping your word. All of it is shaped by
- 9:56Speaker 1: the nest you came from. You can take somebody out
- 10:00Speaker 1: of the hood, but the question remains, can you take
- 10:11Speaker 1: the hood out of somebody even education doesn't totally fix it,
- 10:19Speaker 1: because they can be educated and well dressed and even
- 10:26Speaker 1: be well spoken, but if you make them angry, they
- 10:30Speaker 1: will flip out and reacts out of the nests that
- 10:40Speaker 1: build them. Still to come on the Potter's town, the
- 10:43Speaker 1: eagle has stirred. The Lord started speaking to me about
- 10:50Speaker 1: your culture, your perspective, what fared you, what nurished you
- 10:55Speaker 1: at one stage in your life, is too small for
- 10:59Speaker 1: what he wants to do in your life. And oh God,
- 11:04Speaker 1: there there comes a time in your life that the
- 11:07Speaker 1: same God that built the ness that hacks you stirs
- 11:13Speaker 1: the mess. I wanted to illustrate that what starts out
- 12:26Speaker 1: as a blessing can end up becoming a burden. That
- 12:29Speaker 1: you know, people think in such storylines and they think
- 12:33Speaker 1: something is good or bad, right or wrong. But some
- 12:36Speaker 1: things that God uses in one stage of your life
- 12:39Speaker 1: to nurture you, he will take it at another stage
- 12:42Speaker 1: and use it to motivate you and make it uncomfortable
- 12:46Speaker 1: for you. It doesn't mean that the nest was bad.
- 12:48Speaker 1: It was great. But now it's a transition period and
- 12:51Speaker 1: people have to understand that so they don't use the
- 12:54Speaker 1: circumstance as an opportunity to become bitter, but rather to
- 12:59Speaker 1: become better. The eagle, when she makes the nest, takes
- 13:03Speaker 1: all of the sticks and lays them in such a way,
- 13:08Speaker 1: almost scientifically. It's brilliant to lay the nest in such
- 13:13Speaker 1: a way that when she gets ready to hatch, none
- 13:18Speaker 1: of the sticks are protruding in the nest. The protrusions
- 13:25Speaker 1: are outside, no protrusions on the inside, so that the
- 13:33Speaker 1: eggs can be hatched in a comfortable place. And when
- 13:42Speaker 1: the time is right and all the branches are in place,
- 13:46Speaker 1: then the eagle comes and she lays her eggs in
- 13:55Speaker 1: the nest. Nice cusseh She comfortable nest after its laid
- 14:09Speaker 1: the eggs and hatched the eggs. The eagles eaglets are
- 14:15Speaker 1: born in a high place, in a comfortable place, in
- 14:21Speaker 1: a protected place, and its whole world is its nest.
- 14:30Speaker 1: This is the world, the combination of the stuff my parents,
- 14:38Speaker 1: my friends, my community, my associations brought into it and
- 14:44Speaker 1: everything else. I see it my vision of the world outside.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I see it through the lens of the nest. I
- 14:55Speaker 1: came from my perceptions of right and wrong, and good
- 15:04Speaker 1: and evil and up and down, and all of it
- 15:08Speaker 1: is affected because I see it all through the nest
- 15:14Speaker 1: I was hatched in. We can see the same world,
- 15:23Speaker 1: but have a different view because we came from a
- 15:28Speaker 1: different nest. Are you hearing what I'm saying? The eaglet
- 15:37Speaker 1: hatches its eggs in the nest, and then the motherflies
- 15:47Speaker 1: and she goes and she brings food into the nest.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So we eat in the nest, We sleep in the nest,
- 16:05Speaker 1: We feed in the nest. We manifest all of our
- 16:12Speaker 1: early development in the nest. And the nest that initially
- 16:19Speaker 1: is a blessing becomes a curse if you stay in
- 16:26Speaker 1: it too long. I see people who venture out from
- 16:39Speaker 1: the nest, maybe from nine to five, but then they
- 16:45Speaker 1: go back to the nest. The reason we have difficulty
- 16:52Speaker 1: reducing the rate of recidivism in the country is when
- 16:55Speaker 1: the inmate allows the prison to become the nest. Then
- 17:00Speaker 1: freedom doesn't feel free anymore, and they will purposefully get
- 17:05Speaker 1: in trouble so that they can go back to the nest.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Because the nest is familiar. People can have a good marriage,
- 17:16Speaker 1: but if they're not used to a good marriage, they
- 17:18Speaker 1: will sabotage it and start a fight because a fight
- 17:23Speaker 1: is familiar. Because they will spond in a nest where
- 17:28Speaker 1: people fight and peace is boring. God said, I will
- 17:40Speaker 1: lead you as the ego stirs her nest. The stirring
- 17:49Speaker 1: of the nest is different from the building of the nest.
- 17:56Speaker 1: The building of the nest is a protection to the eggs.
- 18:01Speaker 1: But when the eagle stirs her nest, it only happens
- 18:12Speaker 1: when the eaglets have grown too big to live in
- 18:19Speaker 1: something so small? Are you too big to live in
- 18:42Speaker 1: something so small? Is it tide in here? It's uncomfortable
- 18:54Speaker 1: in here, but I stay in here because it's familiar,
- 19:03Speaker 1: a so comfortable. I don't have to try to be better.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I don't have to evolve. They bring the food to me.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I'm okay, I'm okay. I got it. I got a
- 19:24Speaker 1: system that fits the environment I'm in. Even if the
- 19:31Speaker 1: environment I'm in is too small for who I am.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I'm comfortable here, and the same mother who made it
- 19:49Speaker 1: cushy and comfortable and nice and relaxing comes along with
- 19:55Speaker 1: the same beak and start stirring up the so that
- 20:02Speaker 1: the protrusions that were on the outside now start pointing
- 20:08Speaker 1: on the inside to make it uncomfortable, back to make
- 20:14Speaker 1: it uncomfortable both for me to stay in my nest.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I want to talk to somebody this morning about when
- 20:24Speaker 1: the eagle stirs the nest. Have you ever gone to
- 20:30Speaker 1: a stirring in your life? Until until? What used to
- 20:35Speaker 1: be nice and cushy and normal, and it was okay
- 20:40Speaker 1: and it didn't bother you. But now the eagle has
- 20:46Speaker 1: stirred the nest. And when the eagle stirs the nest,
- 20:52Speaker 1: all of a sudden, the protrusions that kept away the
- 20:55Speaker 1: wolf are now pushing the eaglets, so that the eglant,
- 21:00Speaker 1: when it tries to sit where it used to sit,
- 21:06Speaker 1: it can't sit there anymore because the eagle has stirred.
- 21:11Speaker 1: The Lord started speaking to me about your culture, your perspective,
- 21:17Speaker 1: what fared you, what nurished you at one stage in
- 21:21Speaker 1: your life, is too small for what he wants to
- 21:25Speaker 1: do in your life. And oh God, there there comes
- 21:29Speaker 1: a time in your life that the same God that
- 21:34Speaker 1: built the nest, that hacks you, stirs the nests. Now
- 21:47Speaker 1: the eglot is facing eviction when the eagle stirs her
- 22:04Speaker 1: nests the eglid's space, eviction from the comfortable excuses you
- 22:12Speaker 1: used to make for not doing anymore or being anymore,
- 22:18Speaker 1: or growing anymore, or becoming anymore. The eagle now has
- 22:23Speaker 1: stirred the nest, and the eaglet has to move. God
- 22:29Speaker 1: says that if we would judge ourselves, we would have
- 22:35Speaker 1: no need to be judged. If the eglet on its
- 22:40Speaker 1: own would fly out of the nest, then the eagle
- 22:46Speaker 1: would not have to stir the nest. But there are
- 22:50Speaker 1: some eglids who are stubborn, and they won't change, and
- 22:57Speaker 1: they won't grow, and they won't explore, and they won't think,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and they won't become because they have developed a system
- 23:04Speaker 1: of survival that is built around the nest. And for
- 23:09Speaker 1: those eglids, I come to preach this morning. The eglids
- 23:20Speaker 1: who handle money the way Mama handled money, The eglids
- 23:28Speaker 1: who are angry with women because Daddy was angry with women.
- 23:32Speaker 1: The eglids who respond to conflict the way Mama did,
- 23:41Speaker 1: have developed a system of survival that says, I don't
- 23:45Speaker 1: have to do anything more than what I'm doing because
- 23:48Speaker 1: I'm being fed in my nest. Job said, I thought
- 23:54Speaker 1: I would die in my nest. He said it was
- 23:59Speaker 1: so cushy and comfortable. I had my wife, I had
- 24:01Speaker 1: my kids, I had my property, I had my job,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I had a good name, I had it going on.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I thought I would die in my nests. Have you
- 24:10Speaker 1: ever been in a situation that you thought wouldn't change,
- 24:16Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, God comes along and stirs,
- 24:26Speaker 1: Oh my God, somebody already understands what I'm talking about,
- 24:33Speaker 1: touching neighbor and telling I'm all stirred up. Everything that
- 24:37Speaker 1: used to be okay hitting okay anymore. My perceptions are
- 24:41Speaker 1: not the same anymore. My ideas are not the same anymore.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I was satisfied just to do what I do and
- 24:48Speaker 1: act like the world I came from. But now all
- 24:50Speaker 1: of a sudden, everything is gotten stirred up. I don't
- 24:53Speaker 1: know who to trust, I don't know who to talk to.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I don't know where to go. I'm not satisfied to
- 24:59Speaker 1: live like them live. I want something else. I want
- 25:03Speaker 1: to do something. I want to be something. I want
- 25:06Speaker 1: to become something. I want to reach something. I don't
- 25:11Speaker 1: know what it is. I don't know what's happening in
- 25:14Speaker 1: my life. Somebody has been praying God, what is going
- 25:18Speaker 1: on in my life? And the Lord told me to
- 25:20Speaker 1: tell you, I'm stirring up beyondness. There is no comfortable place,
- 25:37Speaker 1: no comfortable place. Listen, let's take a little time out
