- 0:04Speaker 1: one wash Out.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good Morning on this good Friday.
- 0:07Speaker 3: For those who observe ninety seven point one wash FM
- 0:10Speaker 3: Toby and Chilly in the morning, Let's get today started
- 0:13Speaker 3: by talking about why we're feeling good before five o'clock
- 0:16Speaker 3: in the morning. And for those who observe, this is
- 0:19Speaker 3: a very big weekend.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It's Easter weekend.
- 0:22Speaker 3: The Easter Bunny will be hopping around and doing Easter
- 0:27Speaker 3: Bunny things.
- 0:28Speaker 4: People are going to finally get to do whatever they
- 0:30Speaker 4: gave up for Lent. They can start doing it again.
- 0:33Speaker 4: That's right in our household. I'm feeling good because I
- 0:35Speaker 4: can start making meat dishes for my husband on Fridays
- 0:39Speaker 4: and he'll start eating a dessert again because that's what
- 0:42Speaker 4: he gave up. So it's just nice that I don't
- 0:45Speaker 4: have to think about the menu for the week.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Gave up dessert? Yeah, and what did and what did
- 0:50Speaker 3: he eat instead? Did he do the fish thing?
- 0:52Speaker 5: Yeah, on Fridays, Fish on Fridays, So.
- 0:54Speaker 2: That's a lot of fish, you know, for the entire
- 0:57Speaker 2: list weekday.
- 0:58Speaker 5: No, No, it's just once a week.
- 1:00Speaker 4: He would do Fridays, So it was once a week,
- 1:03Speaker 4: and his go to would be like capraise a sandwiches
- 1:06Speaker 4: for lunch and then for dinners some sort of a
- 1:09Speaker 4: shrimp dish I would have to make because he is
- 1:12Speaker 4: a big fan of the shrimp. She's pizza works.
- 1:15Speaker 5: So there are certain things you could repeat, you know
- 1:17Speaker 5: what I'm saying. But I'm feeling good because as the
- 1:19Speaker 5: household chef, I don't have to worry about those things anymore.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I'm excited because it's Easter.
- 1:25Speaker 3: My significant other is finally back from her whirld wind
- 1:30Speaker 3: travels around the planet, and we will actually get to
- 1:34Speaker 3: spend some quiet time, hopefully this Easter weekend together because
- 1:38Speaker 3: we just haven't, you know, so out of town, get
- 1:42Speaker 3: out of here, go somewhere, do something. Even if we don't,
- 1:46Speaker 3: at least it'll be something you know, yep, and that
- 1:49Speaker 3: feels good. And hopefully you're feeling good going into this
- 1:52Speaker 3: Easter weekend if you observe, and if you don't observe, well,
- 1:56Speaker 3: hopefully you're feeling good because the weekend is at hand.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Toby and Chilly in the morning at ninety seven point
- 2:01Speaker 3: one WASHFM hang out for a few minutes. We'll get
- 2:03Speaker 3: to the news top stories at the Top of the Hour,
- 2:05Speaker 3: Don't Go Anywhere.
- 2:09Speaker 6: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Attorney General Pam Bondie has been ousted with the President,
- 2:16Speaker 4: announcing that she's going to be leaving for a private
- 2:19Speaker 4: sector job. He did praise her work, though her departure
- 2:23Speaker 4: follows some criticism over her handling of the Epstein files.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Virginia Governor Abigail's Spanburger signed several bills to boost school
- 2:31Speaker 4: safety and curb youth violence, including enhanced staff training on
- 2:36Speaker 4: mental health and red flag laws, updated internet safety lessons,
- 2:41Speaker 4: and panic alarms for teachers. The legislation also increases support
- 2:45Speaker 4: for at risk students and mandates a statewide report on
- 2:50Speaker 4: school meal debt. PEPKO is asking to raise its rates
- 2:54Speaker 4: again in Maryland as energy costs continue to climb, driven
- 2:57Speaker 4: by higher electricity supply prices and ongoing investments in the
- 3:01Speaker 4: power grid. The proposal comes as many customers already face
- 3:05Speaker 4: rising bills, with supply costs alone increasing monthly charges in
- 3:09Speaker 4: recent months. Maryland is also sending text message alerts to
- 3:13Speaker 4: residents who may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit,
- 3:17Speaker 4: hoping that more people claim the money that they're eligible for.
- 3:21Speaker 4: Official say the messages are designed to look legitimate, not
- 3:25Speaker 4: asking for any private information, so they're not mistaken for scams.
- 3:28Speaker 4: And according to research, Americans now believe they need about
- 3:31Speaker 4: one point four six million dollars to retire comfortably. That
- 3:36Speaker 4: is up two hundred thousand dollars from last year. Now,
- 3:39Speaker 4: despite this higher target, forty six percent of non retirees
- 3:44Speaker 4: doubt they'll be financially ready for retirement. Forecast today partly
- 3:49Speaker 4: cloudy skies hies around eighty right now, forty eight in Damascus.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And that's the news.
- 3:55Speaker 3: With Toby and Chilly in the Morning, you get top
- 3:57Speaker 3: stories at the top of the hours. Stay right there, Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 3: because we want to check in on you and your
- 4:02Speaker 3: headspace with your morning mindset. And since it is Friday,
- 4:07Speaker 3: of course we're gonna lean on some great lyrics that
- 4:10Speaker 3: inspire from songs from the eighties and nineties.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Find out what it is coming up in just minutes.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Let's pause for a moment and talk about you, Toby
- 4:21Speaker 3: and Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven point one WASHCHEFM.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It is now time for.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Our morning mindset. We share a quote to get you
- 4:29Speaker 4: into a good headspace. And every Friday, in honor of
- 4:32Speaker 4: our best of the eighties and nineties weekend.
- 4:34Speaker 3: We uh dig into the archives and we find the
- 4:37Speaker 3: lyrics of a song that hopefully you'll get a chance
- 4:40Speaker 3: to hear over the weekend. Today we turn to the
- 4:43Speaker 3: Googoo Dolls in Iris, not just because they've been this
- 4:45Speaker 3: whole TikTok thing as of late, this TikTok trend as
- 4:50Speaker 3: of late, but because the lyrics to one of their
- 4:53Speaker 3: songs really says a lot without using a lot of words.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I just want you to know who I am, the
- 5:00Speaker 3: go Good Dolls sing in the song Iris. Now, this
- 5:04Speaker 3: I think is something to keep in mind because we
- 5:07Speaker 3: all want to be seen, heard and understood, especially by
- 5:12Speaker 3: the people who are closest to us.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So it is okay to.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Say, you know what, I just want you to know
- 5:18Speaker 3: who I am, and then work on defining that and
- 5:21Speaker 3: work on being seen and heard and understood by the
- 5:24Speaker 3: people who are closest to us. That I think is important.
- 5:29Speaker 3: And let that carry you into this Easter weekend and beyond.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Don't forget you are. Best of the eighties and nineties
- 5:35Speaker 3: Weekend starts today five o'clock ninety seven point one WASHFM.
- 5:40Speaker 3: That's your morning mindset. If you need to see it again.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Maybe you want to give it a listen. You'll find
- 5:46Speaker 3: it Toby and Chilli page, WASHFM dot com. It's on
- 5:48Speaker 3: Insta and Facebook and more. Stay with us because next
- 5:52Speaker 3: with Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 5:54Speaker 4: If you head to the mall this weekend, you may
- 5:56Speaker 4: be surprised to see a research gents occurring. Yes, things
- 6:02Speaker 4: have really come back for the mall.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yes, don't call it a comeback. Tyson's been here for years. However,
- 6:08Speaker 3: there are some things that are a little bit different
- 6:11Speaker 3: than you might remember if you haven't been there. And
- 6:13Speaker 3: sometimes yeah, hang on, we'll talk about it in minutes.
- 6:17Speaker 3: The Noble Mall, brick and mortar and stores, all right,
- 6:22Speaker 3: a passage for so many people. It's ninety seven point
- 6:25Speaker 3: one watch FM Toby and Chilly in the Morning. A
- 6:27Speaker 3: bit dramatic, but you know, the mall did face some
- 6:30Speaker 3: very tough times.
- 6:32Speaker 5: Not that long ago, No, about five years ago.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I really was convinced that they were going to become
- 6:37Speaker 4: extinct because and I was part of the problem, to
- 6:40Speaker 4: be honest, Toby, I mean I live less than two
- 6:42Speaker 4: miles from Tyson's corner and I rarely go into a
- 6:45Speaker 4: mall to do my shopping because it's just faster to
- 6:48Speaker 4: do it online, and I feel horrible about it, and
- 6:50Speaker 4: I was killing them all. But when I went to
- 6:53Speaker 4: run an errand recently, I was stunned and pleasantly surprised
- 6:57Speaker 4: at how packed they are right now.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yes, there has been a resurgence at the mall because
- 7:02Speaker 3: and I went down a YouTube rabbit hole on this,
- 7:05Speaker 3: the malls figured out in the age of Amazon, they
- 7:09Speaker 3: had to do something that provided a bit of an
- 7:12Speaker 3: escape for people, and so they became a destination. And
- 7:16Speaker 3: now you have things like the Hershey Chocolate experience over
- 7:20Speaker 3: at Tyson's or something else over at.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Tysons, and a gaming place, gaming.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Centers over so in addition to restaurants in the movie
- 7:28Speaker 3: theater and shops. Sure, now you have things to do
- 7:31Speaker 3: with the family or a place to drop the kids
- 7:33Speaker 3: off so the kids can go and have their mall hang.
- 7:35Speaker 4: And people are shopping at malls again because while they're there,
- 7:39Speaker 4: why not go into a brick and mortar. And I
- 7:41Speaker 4: feel like some of the popular trendy brands are opening storefronts. Yes,
- 7:46Speaker 4: and maybe they're temporary, but still they're opening a place
- 7:50Speaker 4: for people to come and touch and feel the product.
- 7:53Speaker 4: And to your point, teenagers have a place to escape again.
- 7:56Speaker 2: That's right.
- 7:57Speaker 3: And to your point on those shops, they call those
- 7:59Speaker 3: pop ups, thank you, that's right, they call them, think
- 8:01Speaker 3: of the word, they call them pop up. Yes, and
- 8:03Speaker 3: they're not meant to stick around. But while they're there,
- 8:06Speaker 3: you'll come because it'll be insta fabulous.
- 8:09Speaker 4: And it is still one of the best places to
- 8:11Speaker 4: people watch. They've really pivoted well and for that I'm
- 8:14Speaker 4: really happy because it would have bummed me out that
- 8:17Speaker 4: Mike soon to be teenager would have missed out on
- 8:19Speaker 4: the mall experience.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yes, all because mom had to shop online. Bringing about
- 8:24Speaker 3: the demise of the noble mall. It's good to see
- 8:28Speaker 3: the malls making a comeback. So Tyson's we're with you.
- 8:31Speaker 5: We have the malls in the DMV. We're with you.
- 8:34Speaker 5: If it we'll run into you this weekend.
- 8:36Speaker 2: That's right.
- 8:36Speaker 3: It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM with Toby and

- 9:39Speaker 5: Pambondi has been fired as US Attorney General.
- 9:43Speaker 4: The President says she's going to move to the private sector.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Her departure follows criticism over her handling of the Epstein
- 9:49Speaker 4: files and a planned deposition before the House Oversight Committee.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Army Chief of Staff Randy George is stepping down and
- 9:56Speaker 4: retiring immediately after just taking the role back in September
- 10:00Speaker 4: of twenty twenty three, despite it typically being a four
- 10:03Speaker 4: year post, he was reportedly asked to retire by Pete
- 10:07Speaker 4: Hegseth police in punch George's County warning about scammers who
- 10:11Speaker 4: were posing as Pepco workers to steal thousands of dollars
- 10:14Speaker 4: from residents. The suspects show up unannounced, claim that there's
- 10:18Speaker 4: a dangerous electrical issue, and then convince victims, often elderly,
- 10:23Speaker 4: to pay for fake repairs. The Washington Wizards apologized after
- 10:28Speaker 4: an April fool's prank at the Capitol An arena really
- 10:31Speaker 4: upset some fans. A man was led to believe that
- 10:33Speaker 4: he won ten thousand dollars for a blindfolded half court shot,
- 10:37Speaker 4: but the announcer revealed it was just a prank. Now
- 10:39Speaker 4: the team says he was informed beforehand, but acknowledged that
- 10:43Speaker 4: the skit missed the mark. United Airlines is raising checked
- 10:47Speaker 4: bag fees anywhere from ten to forty five dollars if prepaid,
- 10:51Speaker 4: or fifty dollars within twenty four hours amid rising jet
- 10:55Speaker 4: fuel costs. The airline is also tracking TSA wait times
- 10:59Speaker 4: at Dulles Airport and six other hubs, providing real time
- 11:02Speaker 4: updates and it's app to help passengers better plan for arrivals.
- 11:06Speaker 4: And a federal judge dismissed most of Blake Lively's sexual
- 11:10Speaker 4: harassment claims against her co star Justin Baldoni, leaving only
- 11:15Speaker 4: breach of contract, retaliation and aiding retaliation allegations for trial.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Lawsuit will go to trial May eighteenth. Forecast today partly
- 11:24Speaker 4: cloudye skies. Highs around eighty right now forty eight in Dunloring.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And that is the news.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Tell at least five friends, maybe six, that you get
- 11:34Speaker 3: your headlines with Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Caller ten right now eight six, six, nine, two, seven,
- 11:41Speaker 3: forty three sixty one. Call us be Caller ten. Take
- 11:45Speaker 3: a pair of grandstand tickets to the National Cherry Blossom
- 11:48Speaker 3: Festival Parade April eleventh, and you'll score a pre parade
- 11:52Speaker 3: breakfast at car Mines. That's right, it's all yours right now,
- 11:56Speaker 3: Caller ten, call and take it.
- 11:59Speaker 2: It's ty seven point one. Washef it hit me on
- 12:02Speaker 2: the way in this morning?
- 12:04Speaker 3: The reason why so many people are talking about Peeps
- 12:06Speaker 3: Chili is because this is the Peeps season. This is
- 12:11Speaker 3: like their Super Bowl Eastern Toby and Chilly in the morning,
- 12:14Speaker 3: it's ninety seven point one wash FM. But if you
- 12:17Speaker 3: hear that groaning from Chili, that kind of sums up
- 12:20Speaker 3: the way she feels about said peeps.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I'm really never been a fan of the peeps, even
- 12:24Speaker 4: as a kid. I mean, they've been around forever and
- 12:26Speaker 4: they're still popular. It's just overly sweet and it just
- 12:30Speaker 4: does nothing for me. However, I will say that if
- 12:35Speaker 4: you really want to get creative and not just eat
- 12:37Speaker 4: them the way they're meant to be eaten, I did
- 12:40Speaker 4: make rice Crispy treats really with the peeps, not this year,
- 12:45Speaker 4: but in a couple of years ago.
- 12:46Speaker 5: I tried that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: How does that work?
- 12:49Speaker 4: Well, because there are marshmallows, and rice Crispy treats are
- 12:53Speaker 4: made with marshmallows, so they're just sugary marshmallows, and it
- 12:56Speaker 4: actually has a color to them. So it's like a
- 12:59Speaker 4: whatever peeps you use, if you make yellow peeps, it's
- 13:02Speaker 4: yellow rice Crispy treats.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Now, I get it.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Now, I get how they make those multi colored rice
- 13:08Speaker 3: Crispy trees with chemicals. Yes, well, you know, I thought
- 13:12Speaker 3: it was just food coloring red dye number.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Seventeen, which is great for a kid with a ADHD.
- 13:18Speaker 5: But anyway, I digress. If you get creative, I suppose
- 13:22Speaker 5: you could come up with a better way to eat
- 13:26Speaker 5: said Easter treat.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Well, a lot of people have been experimental when it
- 13:30Speaker 2: comes to the peeps now, not just at Easter time,
- 13:33Speaker 2: but really all of the time.
- 13:35Speaker 4: And we mentioned earlier this week about like these some
- 13:38Speaker 4: of these restaurants are getting creative. Like there's a pizza
- 13:41Speaker 4: restaurant or pizza place that has a dessert pizza with
- 13:44Speaker 4: peeps as a topping.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And that's just the tip of the peeps. Iceberg.
- 13:48Speaker 3: You've got something that you've created out of peeps. Tell
- 13:51Speaker 3: us all about it. Eight sixty six nine seven three
- 13:54Speaker 3: sixty one. Unusual ways you've eaten or used peeps. We
- 13:58Speaker 3: would love to hear, because we feel like there could
- 14:01Speaker 3: be a peeps of plenty between now and the end
- 14:03Speaker 3: of the weekend, you know, Easter and everything. Call us now,
- 14:06Speaker 3: we'll discuss in minutes. It's ninety seven point one wash
- 14:08Speaker 3: CHEFM with Toby and Chili in the morning. Tis the
- 14:11Speaker 3: season for the peeps. If you believe Toby and Chilly
- 14:16Speaker 3: in the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. No, seriously,
- 14:20Speaker 3: it's like the Peep's super Bowl season and Easter being
- 14:23Speaker 3: this weekend, we thought we would talk about some of
- 14:26Speaker 3: the unique things you've seen people do with peeps, and
- 14:30Speaker 3: maybe you've done some of these things, created some of
- 14:34Speaker 3: these things with peeps.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Earlier I said I've made rice crispy treats. Patricia, thanks
- 14:38Speaker 5: for listening in Ashbourne. Go ahead. My niece gives hers
- 14:43Speaker 5: and pickle juice. Why would she do that?
- 14:48Speaker 7: She don't like the sweetness, so if she puts a
- 14:50Speaker 7: little sour into it, my.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Dyppinum and pickle juice, does it even taste good? I
- 14:56Speaker 5: don't know. I've never tried.
- 14:57Speaker 8: I think it's girls to myself.
- 14:58Speaker 2: How does one even do that chokum and trickle juice.
- 15:01Speaker 5: And let them absorb the juice and then eat them?
- 15:03Speaker 3: Patricia, thanks for the call this morning. Uh Chili, I
- 15:07Speaker 3: just I just keep coming back to the word no.
- 15:10Speaker 5: I keep coming back to the word pregnant. That's the
- 15:14Speaker 5: only reason I would dip my peeps in some facle juice.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Wow, windy and wheatn what's up?
- 15:22Speaker 7: I can't stands paste of tea, but I like the
- 15:25Speaker 7: outside par before I get that nasty chemical paste in
- 15:28Speaker 7: the middle, so I just put them my Uh think
- 15:31Speaker 7: any one day I was alfol eating with hot chocolate.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Actually that one day.
- 15:35Speaker 3: All right, Wendy, let me get this straight. You put
- 15:38Speaker 3: peeps in your spaghetti and you washed it down with
- 15:42Speaker 3: hot chocolate.
- 15:43Speaker 5: And how does one prepare that?
- 15:45Speaker 7: I cut into pieces, and I was hitting it with
- 15:47Speaker 7: my spaghetti.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Of course, because why would you need meatballs?
- 15:51Speaker 2: Right?
- 15:52Speaker 3: Eight six six ninety seven forty three sixty one. Have
- 15:55Speaker 3: you ever done anything with peeps in the kitchen that
- 16:00Speaker 3: might make us raise an eyebrow? What did you make
- 16:03Speaker 3: or in this case concoct? Tell us everything. You can
- 16:06Speaker 3: call us, or you can drop us a voice note
- 16:09Speaker 3: via talk back. If you're signed in listening to your

- 16:16Speaker 2: Stay with us because coming up.
- 16:17Speaker 5: We're gonna update you on all the news headlines with
- 16:19Speaker 5: Toby and Chili's top stories.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Tis the season for the peeps, if you believe Toby
- 16:27Speaker 3: and Chilly in the Morning, it's ninety seven point one
- 16:29Speaker 3: wash FM. No, seriously, it's like the peep's Super Bowl
- 16:33Speaker 3: season and Easter being this weekend, we thought we would
- 16:36Speaker 3: talk about some of the unique things you've seen people
- 16:40Speaker 3: do with peeps, and maybe you've done some of these things,
- 16:44Speaker 3: created some of these things with peeps.
- 16:46Speaker 5: Earlier I said, I've made rice crispy treats. Patricia, thanks
- 16:50Speaker 5: for listening in Ashbourne.
- 16:52Speaker 8: Go ahead, my nieces and pickle juice.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Why would she do that?
- 17:00Speaker 8: She don't like the sweetness, so she puts.
- 17:02Speaker 7: A little sour into it by dipping them and pickle juice.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Does it even taste good?
- 17:07Speaker 6: I don't know. I've never tried.
- 17:08Speaker 8: I think it's girls to myself.
- 17:10Speaker 2: How does one even do that?
- 17:11Speaker 7: Sokham and pickle juice and let him absorb the juice
- 17:14Speaker 7: and then eat them?
- 17:15Speaker 3: Patricia, thanks for the call this morning. Uh Chili, I
- 17:19Speaker 3: just I just keep coming back to the word no.
- 17:21Speaker 5: I keep coming back to the word pregnant.
