- 0:46Speaker 3: I am your host, Kiki Chanel, award winning author, lifestyle blogger,
- 0:50Speaker 3: certified life coach and owner of nineteen lifestyle magazine. We
- 0:55Speaker 3: are all in Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I have
- 0:59Speaker 3: a very special guests with me today. You guys have
- 1:02Speaker 3: been rocking with the show for so long, so you
- 1:04Speaker 3: already know how I do. I'd like to give my
- 1:06Speaker 3: guests the opportunity to introduce themselves, so I'm gonna go
- 1:10Speaker 3: ahead and turn it over to her. Hey, lovely, thank
- 1:13Speaker 3: you for coming to Kicking with Me today. Tell the
- 1:16Speaker 3: people who you are what you.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Do, all right?
- 1:19Speaker 4: My name is Prophet is Pastor Yvon Champion, right, I'm
- 1:23Speaker 4: our Dame Pastor Prophet. I also have a cleaning business
- 1:29Speaker 4: and alside of JR. House Ministry, which is called Warriors
- 1:32Speaker 4: in Christ Jall House Ministry. So I kind of deal
- 1:36Speaker 4: with court cases, people on probation and just offering salvation,
- 1:41Speaker 4: and some counselor services to people that are incarcerated are
- 1:46Speaker 4: just dealing with court cases, dealing with jail.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Absolutely, I love that. So thank you for being here.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I'm so glad that you are here. I love that
- 1:55Speaker 3: smile that you always have whenever I do see you.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Your brother was on the show of months ago, shout
- 2:01Speaker 3: out to Ace. But so we're going to get into
- 2:03Speaker 3: We're going to talk about the topic for today is
- 2:05Speaker 3: I am enough? Right, Because sometimes we can have that
- 2:10Speaker 3: negative self talk that will come in and deter us
- 2:14Speaker 3: from our purpose and fulfilling our destiny. So when when
- 2:18Speaker 3: you hear the phrase I am enough, how does that
- 2:22Speaker 3: resonate with you?
- 2:25Speaker 1: I am enough?
- 2:26Speaker 4: As I was preparing myself for today, I said, what
- 2:29Speaker 4: can I actually talk about? And I just kind of
- 2:32Speaker 4: had a flashback, just a snippet of what I have
- 2:35Speaker 4: been through. I am a the best violence survivor mental
- 2:39Speaker 4: and physical abuse, right, And if you don't get to
- 2:42Speaker 4: the root of whatever is trying to hinder or overtake you,
- 2:47Speaker 4: it'll make.
- 2:47Speaker 1: You feel like you're not enough.
- 2:49Speaker 4: So it started back years of my life of not
- 2:52Speaker 4: feeling like I was enough in relationships, not feeling like
- 2:55Speaker 4: I was a good enough person. You know, they always
- 2:58Speaker 4: say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but
- 3:00Speaker 4: I beg the differ because beauty starts from within, So
- 3:03Speaker 4: you can be beautiful on the outside, right, but then
- 3:06Speaker 4: you could feel ugly inside.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So people were telling me.
- 3:09Speaker 4: You're beautiful your smile, but I felt so ugly because
- 3:14Speaker 4: I felt like, if I was so pretty, how am
- 3:16Speaker 4: I being treated this way?
- 3:17Speaker 1: And it wasn't just from men.
- 3:19Speaker 4: It was from just people, because they would take my
- 3:21Speaker 4: niceness for kindness and for weakness, and they would just
- 3:25Speaker 4: treat me any kind of way, talk to me any
- 3:27Speaker 4: kind of way, and I would never fight back. I
- 3:29Speaker 4: would never say any thing. I would just let people
- 3:32Speaker 4: walk over me. And it carried me into my adulthood
- 3:35Speaker 4: and to where I thought it was normal, into some
- 3:40Speaker 4: capacity I thought, you know, and I felt like I
- 3:42Speaker 4: wasn't enough. I would see people with the new cars
- 3:46Speaker 4: and I would be the prophet. I'll prophesied, you're gonna
- 3:49Speaker 4: get the house, You're gonna get the car, and these
- 3:51Speaker 4: people weren't getting it. But I never thought I could
- 3:54Speaker 4: get it. I never thought I could get a house.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I never thought I could own the land. I never
- 3:58Speaker 4: thought I could get another part. I never saw myself.
- 4:02Speaker 4: So when you say I am enough, the root of
- 4:07Speaker 4: it is feeling like you're not enough. And if you
- 4:09Speaker 4: don't deal with not being enough, then you can't get
- 4:11Speaker 4: to that.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You are enough.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Absolutely listen, that right there speaks volumes. It's the root
- 4:19Speaker 3: that has to be cut off to destroy the cycle,
- 4:22Speaker 3: the yoke and all of that. And so let's talk
- 4:26Speaker 3: about the power of mindset when it comes to having
- 4:30Speaker 3: that I am enough mentality, because it all starts in
- 4:34Speaker 3: the mind right. If we don't have that mindset of
- 4:37Speaker 3: I am enough, I deserve this. I am not about
- 4:41Speaker 3: to put myself in a situation to have this happen
- 4:44Speaker 3: to me and things like that, because when you want better,
- 4:47Speaker 3: you tend to think better, and then you get better.
- 4:50Speaker 3: So let's talk about the power of mindset. How important
- 4:55Speaker 3: is the way that you think?
- 4:57Speaker 4: It's very important. The Bible says this, So show a
- 5:00Speaker 4: man thinker, so is he? Well, I'm gonna tell you
- 5:02Speaker 4: how that's important, because if I keep thinking, I'm trying
- 5:05Speaker 4: not to because I feel the presence of God because
- 5:08Speaker 4: I'm living this because my mindset was poverty.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Can I talk about that? People don't want to.
- 5:16Speaker 4: You know, I was on food stamps, I was on
- 5:19Speaker 4: Section AY, and I'm not knocking it. At that time,
- 5:22Speaker 4: I needed it. But what happened was my mindset didn't change,
- 5:25Speaker 4: so I stayed in it longer than what I should have.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Because my mind didn't shift, I became mediocre.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I became like, this is it.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I'm gonna get this on this certain amount of month
- 5:38Speaker 4: or what Section Ay is designed for you?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Not to go forward?
- 5:42Speaker 4: Oh God, it's the time that if you make too
- 5:45Speaker 4: much money, then guess what, I'm gonna get kicked off.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So now I can't even start the business.
- 5:50Speaker 4: I can't even make more money because if I made
- 5:52Speaker 4: too much more money, it's stagnized it with food salms.
- 5:55Speaker 4: If I make too much money, you understand what I'm saying,
- 5:59Speaker 4: come off. But my mindset didn't change. Girl, you can
- 6:02Speaker 4: make more money off of this assistance and you can
- 6:06Speaker 4: buy your own food. Come on, you learn about paying rent.
- 6:10Speaker 4: I'm trying to get you to own. I'm trying to
- 6:13Speaker 4: get you to own the house. I'm trying to get
- 6:15Speaker 4: you to own the land.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But because my mind did not shift. Oh, I'm about
- 6:20Speaker 1: shake at the age of fifty.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I mean forty nine, I did to become an owner
- 6:25Speaker 4: to this leaden stage because my mind all these years,
- 6:29Speaker 4: and it goes back to Ho'm enough. I didn't think
- 6:31Speaker 4: I was enough. And because I didn't think I was enough,
- 6:35Speaker 4: I saw everybody else get it, but I didn't see me.
- 6:38Speaker 4: It always originates back how do you see you? It
- 6:41Speaker 4: does not matter how other people perceive you. It does
- 6:44Speaker 4: not matter if other people believe that you're beautiful. It
- 6:46Speaker 4: does not matter that other people think that you're successful.
- 6:49Speaker 4: You will never become that if you don't believe it.
- 6:52Speaker 4: So it starts with the mind.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I had to think, you know what, I really can
- 6:57Speaker 1: buy the land.
- 6:58Speaker 4: You know what, I can really start for one mobile home,
- 7:01Speaker 4: Maybe I could start up for two.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I could become a landlord.
- 7:04Speaker 4: I never saw myself in that capacity because I never
- 7:07Speaker 4: believed it, because I was surrounded by other people that
- 7:10Speaker 4: were talking about Let me here's another thing.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Let me backtrack.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Your mindset changes when you're surrounded about certain people. Oh,
- 7:20Speaker 4: if I'm surrounding around people, that's always saying, yeah, girl,
- 7:23Speaker 4: I'm hungry.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Me too.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I'm struggling to pay my bills.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Me too.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Nobody's telling each other did we get out of this situation.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I thank god for my pastor, my apostle, Wanda Jones.
- 7:37Speaker 4: But I thank god because when I wanted the Lexus,
- 7:40Speaker 4: I always wanted a lectury car.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Well, I'm not gonna lie.
- 7:43Speaker 4: I got approved for one car. It was a Honda.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I was an older, older mo home and I was excited.
- 7:49Speaker 4: And the man I said, well you got denied, but
- 7:50Speaker 4: you got a proof of this Lexus. And I was like, whoa,
- 7:53Speaker 4: I don't know what that is. I never told one before, right,
- 7:56Speaker 4: And my mind set this shift because I was you're
- 8:00Speaker 4: gonna drive a prestreage car. I see you in this car.
- 8:03Speaker 5: And I really and it was getting it, but I.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Didn't think that I can drive it, but more my
- 8:09Speaker 4: mindset changing. My pastor's who you connected to, it's very important,
- 8:13Speaker 4: and the mindset changing. So I got a good support
- 8:16Speaker 4: and stuff that was saying go get the lessons. And
- 8:19Speaker 4: I said me, She said why not you? I said, well,
- 8:21Speaker 4: I don't know. I guess I never really thought about me.
- 8:25Speaker 4: So my mind had to shift, and she said, you
- 8:27Speaker 4: got to get out of that of your own way
- 8:30Speaker 4: and out of your own self to believe that you
- 8:32Speaker 4: could really have it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: So once I did that, I was like. I got
- 8:35Speaker 1: in there, I was like, whoa. I like this feeling,
- 8:38Speaker 1: this is this is luxury.
- 8:40Speaker 4: And then when I drove and then the way I
- 8:43Speaker 4: got out the car, people started perceiving you. They started
- 8:47Speaker 4: treating you different. Wow, because you know we're just gonna
- 8:51Speaker 4: be real. So he said, the people were treating you
- 8:53Speaker 4: certain a way because you acting poor. I said, talk
- 8:58Speaker 4: to poor. You wasn't talking no business level. You want
- 9:01Speaker 4: to talk a level, a successful level. You are always
- 9:04Speaker 4: talking about you.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Was in debt. Oh yeah, God and hot that edifying God.
- 9:11Speaker 4: People, you hear people, I ain't got if you act
- 9:13Speaker 4: the whole congregation, who need to find your blessing?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody hands listen, everybody hands up, everybody. I mean
- 9:21Speaker 1: even have to call off the call thought call me.
- 9:28Speaker 4: But my mindset had to change because what's in my hands,
- 9:32Speaker 4: it's in my mind, right, But I gotta put what's.
- 9:35Speaker 1: In my mind in my hands. They don't want to
- 9:37Speaker 1: afford to work. That means I got to put it
- 9:39Speaker 1: into operation.
- 9:40Speaker 4: But if I don't put in operation and it just
- 9:42Speaker 4: stays in my mind, then my mindset hasn't changed, because.
- 9:45Speaker 1: My mindset will only change if you put work.
- 9:48Speaker 4: You gotta put it in motion, or then it's just
- 9:50Speaker 4: gonna be that thought in your mind and it never
- 9:53Speaker 4: comes to pass. You say you wrote separate books, but
- 9:56Speaker 4: one of them ideas just stayed in your mind. Right,
- 9:59Speaker 4: How would if you don't put it on paper, and
- 10:01Speaker 4: then if you don't get somebody to publish it, you
- 10:04Speaker 4: don't get somebody to edit it, then it.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Just stays in your mind. Absolutely. I just got that
- 10:09Speaker 1: just from looking at you.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Listen, and I have nineteen books. Wow, and I'm not
- 10:16Speaker 3: finished yet. But I had I ran from my purpose
- 10:22Speaker 3: because I ran for a long time. I would always
- 10:25Speaker 3: use my words to inspire other people, but I didn't
- 10:28Speaker 3: know that they were gonna inspire me and save my life.
- 10:32Speaker 3: So now I do help other people tell their stories
- 10:35Speaker 3: and bring it to publication. You know, I spotlight individuals
- 10:39Speaker 3: like yourself in my magazine because your stories matter most.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I'm not all about the celebrity. I'm about the everyday
- 10:47Speaker 3: people who have fought every day to have a better
- 10:52Speaker 3: lifestyle for themselves, and a lot of people don't really
- 10:56Speaker 3: support because they like who she thinks she is who
- 11:00Speaker 3: God called me to be. You don't see the vision
- 11:02Speaker 3: that God gave to me. So I'm not worrying about
- 11:04Speaker 3: who support, who like, who follow none of that. I
- 11:08Speaker 3: have to stay vigilant and I have to stay obedient
- 11:12Speaker 3: in what God called me to do. And that's why
- 11:14Speaker 3: I love this podcast because I get to talk to
- 11:16Speaker 3: people like yourself and hear the story. You know, hear
- 11:20Speaker 3: about your story and your journey, and so the mindset
- 11:23Speaker 3: is always I think it's a making a breaking point
- 11:27Speaker 3: because there is power in words, and we always we
- 11:30Speaker 3: hear that all the time. That is the part of
- 11:32Speaker 3: the word. Be careful what you say because it could
- 11:35Speaker 3: speak life or death over yourself and those around you.
- 11:40Speaker 3: And I like what you said about people started treating
- 11:43Speaker 3: you different when you pulled up in a certain type
- 11:45Speaker 3: of car. That's not being arrogant or vain or thinking
- 11:48Speaker 3: that you're better than somebody. You just got the blessing
- 11:51Speaker 3: that God has for you. God didn't put us here
- 11:54Speaker 3: to be mediocre.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Mom.
- 11:56Speaker 3: And then when we try to help God out, he
- 11:58Speaker 3: just sit back and say, all right, I'm gonna let
- 12:00Speaker 3: you do it, but when you come back, I'm gonna
- 12:02Speaker 3: show you how it's supposed to be done. You can't
- 12:05Speaker 3: help me out. I don't need no help. Just do
- 12:07Speaker 3: what I tell you to do. I am a num
- 12:10Speaker 3: And let's talk about breaking cycles to help prepare you
- 12:14Speaker 3: for the future that God has for you. The mindset
- 12:18Speaker 3: of scarcity, we all have been there and we see
- 12:21Speaker 3: it every day. Why do you think that we get
- 12:24Speaker 3: so stuck in a scarcity mindset thinking that we're not
- 12:27Speaker 3: supposed to be prosperous, that God didn't give us the
- 12:30Speaker 3: minion over all things, like he said in his word.
- 12:33Speaker 3: But faith with our works is dead. So putting your putting,
- 12:38Speaker 3: your your your your vision, your purpose to work. What
- 12:43Speaker 3: do you think are those things that we can help
- 12:45Speaker 3: break the cycles for our future?
- 12:48Speaker 4: I think just making affirmations and declarations daily, you know,
- 12:53Speaker 4: just saying I am enough and and and then you
- 12:56Speaker 4: can bring the word into it. I can do liv
- 12:58Speaker 4: As four nineteen, and I can do all things through
- 13:00Speaker 4: Jesus Christ has strengthened me. Being around positive people, being
- 13:04Speaker 4: around people that's going to speak life, being around people
- 13:07Speaker 4: that are not haters. Come on, you have to know
- 13:09Speaker 4: what's in your circle. You have to know the people
- 13:12Speaker 4: that you're surrounded with, because you might be telling somebody
- 13:14Speaker 4: your ideas and they can steal it, or you might
- 13:18Speaker 4: be telling the wrong people your goals, your dreams, and
- 13:21Speaker 4: because they think you want to see them are because
- 13:24Speaker 4: they might be scared that you know they didn't think
- 13:27Speaker 4: of it.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Then they don't want to help push your dreams.
- 13:30Speaker 4: You have to realize it's your dream, it's your vision,
- 13:33Speaker 4: and if you don't push it, and if you don't
- 13:34Speaker 4: go hard behind it, who else is You can't expect
- 13:37Speaker 4: somebody And I've learned that you can't expect somebody to
- 13:41Speaker 4: go hard behind you if you're not going to go
- 13:44Speaker 4: hard behind you. Breaking the cycles meaning a lot of
- 13:46Speaker 4: people that started off big saying they had a repossession right,
- 13:51Speaker 4: they might have went through a foreclosure before being successful.
- 13:54Speaker 4: I see a lot of millionaires that became very successful
- 13:57Speaker 4: and then somewhere along the way the job you know,
- 14:00Speaker 4: had a you know, a little glitch in it, and
- 14:01Speaker 4: then they end up losing some stuff.
- 14:03Speaker 1: But it's not how you start, it's how you finished.
- 14:06Speaker 4: So I think with changing cycles is meaning because my
- 14:10Speaker 4: family might have lost to this doesn't mean I'm gonna
- 14:13Speaker 4: lose the business. Because you know, cousin Bobo might have
- 14:16Speaker 4: lost you know, their company, doesn't mean I'm gonna lose mine.
- 14:20Speaker 4: So what you use is breaking the cycle is I
- 14:23Speaker 4: would use the negative in what I see somebody else
- 14:26Speaker 4: and choose to put positive and then work extra hard
- 14:30Speaker 4: so that I and do research whatever I need so
- 14:32Speaker 4: that I can take what I'm trying to do to
- 14:34Speaker 4: the next level, because I don't want to repeat the
- 14:37Speaker 4: same cycle. And just because I fail doesn't mean I
- 14:40Speaker 4: stayed there. I think people end up repeated cycles because
- 14:44Speaker 4: when they fall into a financial difficulties or anything that happens,
- 14:49Speaker 4: they kind of just stay and don't pick it back up. No,
- 14:52Speaker 4: if the book wasn't successful, you know, hey, this time
- 14:54Speaker 4: around is going to be successful. You know that's the
- 14:57Speaker 4: affirmations you study. Speaking positive. We're not gonna have repeat
- 15:00Speaker 4: the cycles. We're not gonna go through another Felt book.
- 15:02Speaker 4: This book right here is gonna succeed. You know, this
- 15:05Speaker 4: business is gonna succeed. So I just think we should
- 15:08Speaker 4: look at the positive and everything that we do, and
- 15:12Speaker 4: even you can take the negative, excuse me, and turn
- 15:16Speaker 4: the negative into a positive by not repeating the same cycle.
- 15:21Speaker 4: And what somebody else fail doesn't mean you're gonna.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Fail, you know.
- 15:25Speaker 4: And I think a lot of people they fail because
- 15:28Speaker 4: they looking at it. Well, I'm scared because they fail. Well,
- 15:30Speaker 4: just because they fail don't mean your business gonna.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Fail, right absolutely, And you know you have to you
- 15:37Speaker 3: have to think more of yourself. You you watch and
- 15:40Speaker 3: see what they did, and then you don't do that.
- 15:42Speaker 3: But you have to make sure that you're in in
- 15:45Speaker 3: alignment with God first and foremot because I'm a woman
- 15:49Speaker 3: of faith. I love God, you know. I don't know
- 15:51Speaker 3: who y'all, y'all believe to pray to it all that
- 15:53Speaker 3: who listening, But I love God and I take God
- 15:56Speaker 3: everywhere I go, always have and always will. And if
- 15:59Speaker 3: that keeps me from getting to where I need to
- 16:01Speaker 3: be at a certain time, I just look at it
- 16:04Speaker 3: as does God's time and is always right on time.
- 16:07Speaker 3: And I don't look at what somebody else has.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And want and want that.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I want what God has for me. I don't want
- 16:14Speaker 3: what He has for you know, Pastor Yvonne. And I'm
- 16:17Speaker 3: pretty sure that she don't want what God has for me.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Because you never know what you have to go through
- 16:22Speaker 3: what that person had to go through, and people glamorize
- 16:26Speaker 3: when they have that success that they can show out
- 16:28Speaker 3: loud and boast about. They don't tell you about the
- 16:31Speaker 3: knights that they didn't go to sleep. They don't tell
- 16:33Speaker 3: you about the knights that they were hunger and didn't
- 16:35Speaker 3: have food to eat, or working in the dark because
- 16:39Speaker 3: the lights were turned down and they have to use candles.
- 16:41Speaker 3: You don't hear about that. Most people don't want to
- 16:43Speaker 3: share about that because why people don't want to hear
- 16:45Speaker 3: about the struggles. They want to hear about the success.
- 16:48Speaker 3: So we have to make we have to make sure
- 16:51Speaker 3: that we are constantly in a mindset of breaking cycles
- 16:55Speaker 3: that are not serving us to the best of our
- 16:58Speaker 3: you know, building are our capacity for growing and having
- 17:03Speaker 3: that attitude of gratitude and be thankful for the things
- 17:06Speaker 3: that we have because a lot of people have all
- 17:08Speaker 3: the things that they need and still not feel like
- 17:11Speaker 3: that's enough. Why do you believe that people just always
- 17:16Speaker 3: want something else and not really focus or appreciate the
- 17:23Speaker 3: things that they have already.
- 17:25Speaker 4: That's good, that's good, right there a lot of people,
- 17:29Speaker 4: you know, like I said, the mindset, it goes back
- 17:32Speaker 4: to the mindset. It goes back to and then your circle. Right,
- 17:37Speaker 4: So a lot of people complain and to I sit
- 17:41Speaker 4: here and say, God, do God wake you up?
- 17:44Speaker 1: You know, it's what you make out of the day. Okay,
- 17:47Speaker 1: So either I choose to.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Make my day successful and prosperous, or do I choose
- 17:52Speaker 4: to throw a pity party? Right, we got to get
- 17:54Speaker 4: away from pity parties. We got to get away from
- 17:56Speaker 4: always me.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm going through.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Yes, everybody could use a little bit more money, but
- 18:01Speaker 4: I'm not going to stay in that place. I'm gonna
- 18:03Speaker 4: thank God that I have a roof over my head
- 18:05Speaker 4: because somebody is in worser shape than me.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You know.
- 18:07Speaker 4: I kind of walked my property yesterday after getting the
- 18:10Speaker 4: cut and I was like, wow, this is nice, and
- 18:12Speaker 4: I said, wow, somebody doesn't have that. I remember, you know,
- 18:16Speaker 4: I have to be thankful. God said, be appreciative. He said,
- 18:19Speaker 4: if you be thaithful over a few, he'll make you
- 18:21Speaker 4: rule over many. Well, many of us can't get to
- 18:24Speaker 4: the rule over many because we're not. It starts with
- 18:26Speaker 4: what you just said. We're not thankful of the little bit. Well,
- 18:29Speaker 4: we spent God to do all this big major things.
- 18:32Speaker 4: If you're in an apartment, If you're in a studio, are
- 18:35Speaker 4: you thankful for what you have?
- 18:37Speaker 1: Do you fix that? Studio?
- 18:39Speaker 3: Up?
- 18:39Speaker 1: Is it throw? You're in a big mansion, do you
- 18:41Speaker 1: fix that?
- 18:42Speaker 3: You know?
- 18:42Speaker 1: Your little porch?
- 18:43Speaker 5: Up?
- 18:43Speaker 1: Is it throw? You got this big old beach house?
- 18:45Speaker 1: You know? Are you a good studor of what God
- 18:47Speaker 1: has gave you? Given to you?
- 18:49Speaker 4: And so when you do that and you're grateful, you're
- 18:52Speaker 4: telling God that you appreciate him. That opens up a
- 18:55Speaker 4: hole door for new opportunities for God to bless you,
- 18:59Speaker 4: because then he said, I can trust you now what
- 19:01Speaker 4: the little bit you've got, not by complaining, because He
- 19:04Speaker 4: doesn't want us to complain. He want us to be
- 19:07Speaker 4: happy and make us say that I am more enough.
- 19:11Speaker 4: I am a spousibluist advacant for our southeast as sposibiust
- 19:14Speaker 4: I didn't forget to tell you that.
- 19:16Speaker 1: We are in the midst of violence a month.
- 19:18Speaker 4: And I believe the mental is more so, even though
- 19:25Speaker 4: the physical shows them the scars, but the mental is
- 19:29Speaker 4: almost an everlasting impact. A person can always remember what
- 19:34Speaker 4: somebody has said to them and it causes them to
- 19:36Speaker 4: make them feel like they're not enough. And even though
- 19:39Speaker 4: the abuse might happen twenty years ago, it still affects
- 19:42Speaker 4: some people today, and you have to let that go,
- 19:45Speaker 4: learn from your past and use it not to break cycles.
- 19:49Speaker 4: We could tie that in right there, not to break
- 19:51Speaker 4: the cycle, because if you don't deal with pain and trauma,
- 19:54Speaker 4: guess what, you bring it into another and then you
- 19:57Speaker 4: begin to get into another relationship and then you feel
- 20:00Speaker 4: like you're not.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You're not even good enough to even be with this person.
- 20:04Speaker 4: The purse can tell you're pretty, you're smart, you're successful,
- 20:08Speaker 4: but if you don't believe that you're good enough, or
- 20:10Speaker 4: you don't believe that you're own enough, their words are vanity,
- 20:13Speaker 4: They're just empty words. Right, So it starts with you.
- 20:16Speaker 4: You have to make efform it and sometimes that helps
- 20:19Speaker 4: for people.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I am enough, I am beautiful.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Sometimes you have to just look yourself in the mirror
- 20:25Speaker 4: and just say, you know what, you're beautiful. Not looking
- 20:28Speaker 4: for people to validate. I think we got it twisted.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Many people are looking for somebody to say, oh, that's
- 20:34Speaker 4: a nice outfit.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You put on a.
- 20:35Speaker 4: New outfit and you expect somebody to notice your new
- 20:38Speaker 4: shirt and are your new hairstyle.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Maybe if nobody else notice you are to notice it
- 20:44Speaker 1: you right, So a girl you wearing that shirt, yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: you better wear that shirt.
- 20:50Speaker 4: You know, and make yourself whether you're small, whether you're medium,
- 20:54Speaker 4: whether you're big, whatever skin you're in, you have to
- 20:57Speaker 4: learn to love you. Because I've seen people at the
- 20:59Speaker 4: best of shape and have more self esteem than I
- 21:02Speaker 4: see a bigger person over their ship. You know, she
- 21:05Speaker 4: walking around her confident. I'm like, whoa, I need that confidence.
- 21:09Speaker 4: But it started from within, right because whatever body that
- 21:14Speaker 4: she's in, she's comfortable within it and she's not letting
- 21:18Speaker 4: nobody come in. And when a person that's an abuser,
- 21:22Speaker 4: when they know they can't tear you down, they don't.
- 21:25Speaker 4: But if they know they can break you all the
- 21:27Speaker 4: way down, guess what they're gonna do it. And a
- 21:30Speaker 4: lot of people did it to me, and it's not
- 21:32Speaker 4: just me, and sometimes people surrounded by abusings and all.
- 21:36Speaker 4: It could come from mother, it could come from my father,
- 21:39Speaker 4: it could come from a sibling, it could come from
- 21:41Speaker 4: your children. Oh yeah, that's a form of abuse when
- 21:46Speaker 4: and you can feel like you're not enough.
- 21:49Speaker 1: They do it all the time.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I hear people say, oh, my kids, they told me
- 21:52Speaker 4: I didn't do this when I was coming up, and
- 21:54Speaker 4: you did the best you can as a mother. That's
- 21:56Speaker 4: a form of abuse to keep telling a person that
- 21:59Speaker 4: over and over and oh guess what, I cannot do
- 22:02Speaker 4: nothing about the past, But what I can do now,
- 22:05Speaker 4: let's talk about you kind of kind of bring their mindset.
- 22:08Speaker 1: What could we do about now? Because what I didn't
- 22:10Speaker 1: do back then is not for help now. I done
- 22:13Speaker 1: the best I.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Could as a mother. I did the best I could
- 22:16Speaker 4: as the father. But you can't go You know, one
- 22:18Speaker 4: thing about the past is you can't revisit. If you
- 22:21Speaker 4: keep revisiting the past, then you'll never feel.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Like you're good enough.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Because that's all I want you to do is to
- 22:26Speaker 4: stay in there, in that place right of stuff. And
- 22:30Speaker 4: now I'm hindered. Why am I hindered you? We're the
- 22:34Speaker 4: hinderans and we can't really blame nobody else. I looked around,
- 22:37Speaker 4: I said, who's hindering me? You want to blame it
- 22:40Speaker 4: on this person? But then sometime we have to look
- 22:42Speaker 4: at the man in the mirror and say, you know what,
- 22:44Speaker 4: I'm hindering me because I'm letting my past dictate my
- 22:47Speaker 4: future when your past was never designed to dictate your future.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Your past was designed to create you to have.
- 22:54Speaker 4: A better future and not learn from your mistake and
- 22:57Speaker 4: not keep going through repeated cycles.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Absolutely, I love that you say that because I have
- 23:03Speaker 3: been around people who always blame their parents for how
- 23:07Speaker 3: their lives are. At some point, you have to grow
- 23:11Speaker 3: up and realize that your parents did the best that
- 23:14Speaker 3: they can do at the time that they can do it,
- 23:17Speaker 3: because who knows what they have to go through to
- 23:19Speaker 3: make sure that you got what you needed to survive.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Come on, forget about all that they allowed. They sacrifice
- 23:28Speaker 3: so that you can be here. Yes, they sacrifice so
- 23:32Speaker 3: you can be here. Do you know how many people
- 23:34Speaker 3: probably didn't make it because their parents were in a
- 23:37Speaker 3: mindset of survival mode. And I don't want to bring
- 23:40Speaker 3: a child into this world to go through what I
- 23:42Speaker 3: went through. But the fact that you're here should say something.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Let me go and figure out how, like you said,
- 23:51Speaker 3: we can fix now. Yeah, because in the black community,
- 23:56Speaker 3: we don't talk about what happened behind closed doors. Are
- 24:00Speaker 3: with Uncle Bobby and all them kind of people, we
- 24:02Speaker 3: don't talk about that, So who knows what happened with
- 24:05Speaker 3: mom and dad? Are sister and brother? Whoever that is
- 24:08Speaker 3: over your life or in your life. You have to
- 24:11Speaker 3: understand that stay in a cycle of stuck, you'll never
- 24:18Speaker 3: you'll never level up to where God has you wants
- 24:22Speaker 3: you to be. And put it like that, because you're
- 24:25Speaker 3: always going to be thinking backwards or in the past,
- 24:29Speaker 3: and you'll never be able to live in the present.
- 24:31Speaker 3: That should be a catapult for your future, right yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 3: all right? So I know that you are over an
- 24:40Speaker 3: overcomer of domestic violence. How has your experience shaped your
- 24:45Speaker 3: view on domestic violence and advocacy? Like why do you
- 24:50Speaker 3: do the things that you do right now.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Just to try to bring awareness?
- 24:55Speaker 4: And love doesn't hurt, So love is not that's that's
- 25:00Speaker 4: that's the thing for domestic violence. Love doesn't hurt, right,
- 25:03Speaker 4: But when you're not here from past her or trust trauma.
- 25:07Speaker 4: We women's tend are men's because they get abused to
- 25:11Speaker 4: tend to stay in something longer, thinking it's normal. You
- 25:14Speaker 4: begin to be in something so long to you start
- 25:18Speaker 4: sticking up for the abuser, you know, or you'll tell
- 25:21Speaker 4: their abuser he hit me because I said this to him,
- 25:25Speaker 4: or he hit you know, You'll start making excuses for them,
- 25:28Speaker 4: you know. And I try to really talk to young
- 25:31Speaker 4: women's because it affects the children. And whether when they're
- 25:34Speaker 4: young you think it does not affect them, it does
- 25:37Speaker 4: because either two ways, either they grow up being abused
- 25:40Speaker 4: her or they grow up abused or taking abuse from somebody.
- 25:44Speaker 1: It affects them in so many ways.
- 25:45Speaker 4: They grow up angry, they grow up just seeking, you know,
- 25:49Speaker 4: treating women's any kind of way, because that's what they saw.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Anything is okay, and nobody really told them no different
- 25:56Speaker 4: because once a mother gets out of domestic violence, she
- 25:59Speaker 4: just gets out. So you never really talk about it
- 26:01Speaker 4: with the kids. So they what I've experienced, a lot
- 26:05Speaker 4: of them just grow up angry, a lot of anger issues,
- 26:08Speaker 4: a lot of mental issues.
- 26:09Speaker 1: It has because that you have to understand.
- 26:11Speaker 4: From the kids perspective, they feel helpless that they want,
- 26:14Speaker 4: especially boys, they want to be able to help their mother.
- 26:17Speaker 4: They want to be able to be the protector, and
- 26:20Speaker 4: they feel overwhelmed. They're overpowered because you have somebody that's
- 26:23Speaker 4: hinting their mother or tearing her mother down, you know
- 26:27Speaker 4: the words.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Like I said, that's where I got the iem enough from.
- 26:31Speaker 4: The mental abuse will cause the person being abuse feel
- 26:34Speaker 4: like they're not good enough to go anywhere. Who's gonna
- 26:37Speaker 4: love me with three kids? Who's gonna love me with
- 26:40Speaker 4: five or six kids? So you begin to just settle,
- 26:43Speaker 4: if that makes sense. You begin to just settle for
- 26:45Speaker 4: less because you don't feel that you're worthy enough to
- 26:49Speaker 4: even get anybody that can treat you a value. And
- 26:52Speaker 4: so you begin and then it puts you in a
- 26:54Speaker 4: skitzo friend, like, are scared? You know, you think somebody's
- 26:58Speaker 4: after you?
- 26:59Speaker 1: Those are the emotional paroy you. Oh my god.
- 27:03Speaker 4: What used to trigger me is I used to hear
- 27:05Speaker 4: loud music and I used to be you know, I
- 27:08Speaker 4: would kind of get scared and nervous. And you really
- 27:12Speaker 4: think that that stuff, if you don't begin to deal
- 27:14Speaker 4: with it or get God in your life, that stuff
- 27:16Speaker 4: will carry you through your adult years later or if
- 27:21Speaker 4: you're in a relationship. Right, And this could be mister
- 27:24Speaker 4: Bob could be you hear me. I'm in mister Bob
- 27:27Speaker 4: triggering you like.
- 27:27Speaker 1: The queen you are. But have you not healed properly?
- 27:30Speaker 3: Right?
- 27:31Speaker 1: You don't mister Bob on you because you ain't loving
- 27:33Speaker 1: on you? Right?
- 27:34Speaker 4: So I found that it's called and this is you
- 27:38Speaker 4: could write this down. It's called trauma triggers. I got
- 27:41Speaker 4: that yesterday. You got trauma triggers. So what happens is
- 27:45Speaker 4: because the trauma from the abuse, it'll bring for triggers.
- 27:49Speaker 4: So if you're with somebody and he just kind of
- 27:51Speaker 4: be like, mabe, I think you should have did it?
- 27:53Speaker 4: Wait a minute, who are you yelling at you? They're
- 27:55Speaker 4: looking at you like, I'm not yelling. I just said
- 27:58Speaker 4: did you. Oh, now you're trying to tell me what
- 28:00Speaker 4: to do and you're in a defense mode, not even
- 28:03Speaker 4: realizing that you still haven't been delivered from the past trauma.
- 28:08Speaker 4: So what it did was it triggered. So any little
- 28:11Speaker 4: reminder of anything that you've been through with abuse, it
- 28:15Speaker 4: triggers it and you bring it into the next relationship.
- 28:18Speaker 4: That's why I tell all men and women's get healed
- 28:21Speaker 4: first before you couldnot never jump into another relationship after
- 28:25Speaker 4: you have built through abuse.
- 28:26Speaker 1: It is gonna be worse.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Because when you're gonna pick them with the same attributes
- 28:32Speaker 4: because we ignore the signs with abuse. With the Mason,
- 28:36Speaker 4: violence signs are always there. Yeah, they're there in the beginning.
- 28:40Speaker 4: You know you've seen what they were doing before you.
- 28:42Speaker 4: But of course we're superwoman. We could change up because
- 28:46Speaker 4: I'm the one that's for me. He did not to harm,
- 28:52Speaker 4: but he ain't gonna do that to me.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I didn't you know.
- 28:55Speaker 4: I'm the one that's gonna change the newsflash.
- 28:58Speaker 1: You cannot change the wrong person. Nope, not at all.
- 29:02Speaker 1: You just can't.
- 29:02Speaker 4: They've been raised before, and you have to understand they
- 29:06Speaker 4: have different values. You might have been raising a Christoon.
- 29:09Speaker 4: They might have been raised an abusive home and that
- 29:12Speaker 4: has caused them to think it was okay to cause abuse.
- 29:15Speaker 4: But either way it go, the true deliverance comes from God,
- 29:18Speaker 4: not you. And so I had to realize you cannot
- 29:21Speaker 4: play the superwoman and it leaves an everlasting effect if
- 29:25Speaker 4: the children don't get counseling and the help they need.
- 29:28Speaker 4: It definitely causes trauma to the kids.
- 29:34Speaker 1: It does. I've seen it so many times.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Actually counts a lot of people with it and and
- 29:39Speaker 4: it just it affects the kids, and so many for
- 29:41Speaker 4: my kids were affected, and I regret a lot of things.
- 29:46Speaker 4: But what I did tell them is you can't bring
- 29:49Speaker 4: my past. But that was then because it was like, well, mam,
- 29:52Speaker 4: why you don't own it? Why you just not own
- 29:54Speaker 4: this stuff? Or why you just now I said, because
- 29:56Speaker 4: I didn't think I was enough, right, I didn't think
- 30:00Speaker 4: I deserved this stuff, you know, And that's why how
- 30:03Speaker 4: I knew back then.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:06Speaker 4: But what I can do is I can help other
- 30:08Speaker 4: people not to go down the path that I went.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I'm not gonna stay.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Because if I keep reminiscing about what I went through
- 30:15Speaker 4: and why this person did and how a person made
- 30:18Speaker 4: me feel, I'm never gonna be who God want me
- 30:20Speaker 4: to be because I'm stuck in the past right in
- 30:24Speaker 4: the future now that it's called the past for a reason.
- 30:27Speaker 4: And even give them things which.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Are behind you.
- 30:31Speaker 4: And he said, I pressed for a mark of a
- 30:33Speaker 4: higher calling, which is in Christ Jesus. So guess what,
- 30:36Speaker 4: you don't get to use my past, and they got
- 30:39Speaker 4: that bad people love to bring up people's past. Your
- 30:42Speaker 4: past is to find your future. It's not my final destination.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Guess what, I don't get to stay there. I'm even
- 30:49Speaker 4: now if you want to stay that as you. But
- 30:52Speaker 4: I'm on a whole other level.
- 30:53Speaker 1: How we like Absolutely, I love it.
- 30:59Speaker 3: I love it. So what is something that you do
- 31:02Speaker 3: daily to maintain your mental and emotional help?
- 31:05Speaker 4: Reading the Word and spending time with God, getting in
- 31:10Speaker 4: their quiet place and just the daily affirmations, just beginning
- 31:14Speaker 4: to encourage yourself, David City, encourage yourself daily. So I'm
- 31:19Speaker 4: very firm believer you have to encourage yourself. I don't
- 31:22Speaker 4: look for people to encourage me. I do have people
- 31:25Speaker 4: that call me. I do have people that pour into me.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Like I said, I have an awesome leader. But at
- 31:29Speaker 4: some point we have to take accountability and we have
- 31:32Speaker 4: to get to a point that I don't nobody else
- 31:34Speaker 4: do it.
- 31:35Speaker 1: We have to just pour into ourselves positive vibes. You
- 31:38Speaker 1: ever here, just.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Positivive only, positivib only daily. I don't like to listen
- 31:43Speaker 4: to drama all day long. I don't want to listen
- 31:47Speaker 4: to problems all day long because that gets into you
- 31:50Speaker 4: and it contamidates you, and next thing know you, I
- 31:53Speaker 4: don't feel like doing nothing today.
- 31:55Speaker 1: It drains you.
- 31:56Speaker 4: You're physically draining, it's draining the light out of you.
- 32:01Speaker 4: And so I choose not to let people are let
- 32:04Speaker 4: that drain me anymore. I choose just to be the
- 32:07Speaker 4: best version of me that God will want me to be.
- 32:11Speaker 4: And I want to do purpose. What is God purpose
- 32:14Speaker 4: for my life? So on a daily basic like I said,
- 32:18Speaker 4: I pray God, and I ask God to order my steps.
- 32:21Speaker 1: That's where I.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Want to get order my What do you want me
- 32:24Speaker 4: to do? What is it that you want me to say?
- 32:26Speaker 4: Like today, I didn't know what I was going to say.
- 32:27Speaker 4: What I'm gonna say? He said, talk about you are enough.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Talk about the things that you struggle with, because nobody
- 32:34Speaker 4: really wants to talk about the deep.
- 32:36Speaker 1: You know, this is very rare.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I talk about this and I approach a lot, and
- 32:39Speaker 4: this is I probably I haven't shared this.
- 32:43Speaker 1: So many years. It's been a while.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Somebody, well, I thank you for being vulnerable. I thank
- 32:49Speaker 3: you for sharing with the listeners today. Let's talk about
- 32:52Speaker 3: you say you have a jail house ministry. Let's talk
- 32:54Speaker 3: about that. How did that get started?
- 32:57Speaker 1: It got start in twenty sixteen.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I was.
- 33:03Speaker 4: At home one day and I heard the Lord began
- 33:07Speaker 4: to speak to me, and he said, because there was
- 33:09Speaker 4: so many young kids. I was in a bad neighborhood
- 33:11Speaker 4: living in at that time, and I was kind of
- 33:14Speaker 4: like the little neighborhood mom. I would benefiting to the kids,
- 33:16Speaker 4: They're going to jail, and I'd be like, you know,
- 33:18Speaker 4: don't talk the guns.
- 33:20Speaker 1: You know, gun's gonna do two things. You're gonna live
- 33:22Speaker 1: in jail? Are you gonna end up dead?
- 33:24Speaker 3: You know?
- 33:24Speaker 4: I would just talk to them like that, and I
- 33:26Speaker 4: noticed it didn't have a lot of people doing that.
- 33:28Speaker 4: It didn't have a lot of people reaching out. They
- 33:30Speaker 4: were more so saying they're bad. This young generation was lost.
- 33:34Speaker 4: But who's talking to the young generation? Who's actually taking
- 33:37Speaker 4: time to reach out to them?
- 33:39Speaker 1: The ones that were in jail.
- 33:41Speaker 4: You have people going to the jail, But back then,
- 33:44Speaker 4: my mind was to go to jail. It was still
- 33:47Speaker 4: people that were already in jail, and the people before
- 33:49Speaker 4: they go to jail, they didn't have nobody going to
- 33:51Speaker 4: court cases. So I would go to the court cases
- 33:54Speaker 4: and I would be their support system, you know, and
- 33:57Speaker 4: when they did serious crimes, I would let them know,
- 34:00Speaker 4: you know, God still loves you, but some of this.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Stuff, you're gonna have to go to jail, you know.
- 34:05Speaker 4: And some of the parents wouldn't be Why would you
- 34:07Speaker 4: tell them that, No, you need to tell them the reality,
- 34:10Speaker 4: you know. You know, God has mercy, but sometimes you know,
- 34:14Speaker 4: and I had to do that with my own kids.
- 34:16Speaker 1: You might not.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Start that much time, right, but you might have to
- 34:19Speaker 4: search some time, you know, God is a merse for God.
- 34:21Speaker 4: But I can't I'm not God. I can't just say,
- 34:24Speaker 4: you know, everything gonna be white. You know, I've seen
- 34:27Speaker 4: cases where I've coached people where they were innocent, and
- 34:30Speaker 4: I seen where they would drop the charges. But when
- 34:32Speaker 4: I started the Jail House Ministry, I almost ended it.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Three days after I started it. I had a para
- 34:38Speaker 4: line it's called Warriors and Christ Jel House Ministry, which
- 34:41Speaker 4: I'm getting ready to launch and getting ready to restart.
- 34:44Speaker 1: It all over again.
- 34:45Speaker 4: My six year old son at the time went to jail.
- 34:49Speaker 4: They have the helicopters looking for him, having police looking
- 34:52Speaker 4: for him, on to tula bas looking for him, and
- 34:56Speaker 4: it was bad. The helicopters. I was like, y'all who
- 34:59Speaker 4: they' looking for? And when they said my son I
- 35:02Speaker 4: could have I just almost fainted. I was like, God,
- 35:06Speaker 4: I know you told me the House Ministry, but you
- 35:09Speaker 4: didn't tell me I was gonna have to go through this.
- 35:12Speaker 4: And so I went to talk to the police officer
- 35:14Speaker 4: and it was like, yeah, we're looking for this young
- 35:16Speaker 4: guy and we're gonna shoot on sight. I said, what,
- 35:20Speaker 4: So I never told this story publicly. When they caught him,
- 35:24Speaker 4: they beat him almost to death. His eyes were closed shut,
- 35:28Speaker 4: the dog tore holes in his legs. He was knocked unconscious.
- 35:35Speaker 4: He was in the hospital and I found it was
- 35:38Speaker 4: a prophet. It was on Facebook. I won't disclose his name,
- 35:41Speaker 4: and I texted him and I said, I don't know
- 35:43Speaker 4: if my son is dead or alive or at the
- 35:45Speaker 4: police got him. I'm not worried about him going to jail.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Just lett him be alive. And it was at that
- 35:50Speaker 4: moment that he said he's in a red brick building.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I was like a red brick building, but it was
- 35:56Speaker 4: ham in jail at the time. And they called me
- 36:00Speaker 4: and they told me when I saw his face with
- 36:03Speaker 4: red blood shots, I just cried and I'm almost emotional now.
- 36:08Speaker 4: This is so many years ago, but it's still just
- 36:10Speaker 4: the thought of it. And I said, I got to
- 36:13Speaker 4: help these young kids not to go to this route.
- 36:15Speaker 4: If I could just reach one, I may can't reach
- 36:18Speaker 4: them all, but if I can just reach this young
- 36:20Speaker 4: generation to let them know that you are loved and
- 36:23Speaker 4: let them know that I know a lot of them
- 36:26Speaker 4: were spacing out on Mojo, A lot of them were
- 36:28Speaker 4: popping pills. They were dying off the pills and I
- 36:31Speaker 4: was trying to reach to them to let them know
- 36:33Speaker 4: there's another way, and because the Bible said, how can
- 36:35Speaker 4: they hear without a preacher? And how can I preach
- 36:37Speaker 4: it go unless they've been SI. It doesn't mean I
- 36:39Speaker 4: have to always be in front of the podium. I
- 36:41Speaker 4: don't always have to be inside the building. I realized
- 36:44Speaker 4: that I could, you know, reach some of this young generation.
- 36:48Speaker 4: The prayer call was also with the jail house praer
- 36:52Speaker 4: call it. At one time, I had got up to
- 36:54Speaker 4: fifty collars. They were jumping on it from North Carolina.
- 36:58Speaker 4: I'm Chicago. They were called in New York. They were
- 37:01Speaker 4: calling it all over and I realized, wait a minute,
- 37:04Speaker 4: this thing could get big. I was able to reach
- 37:06Speaker 4: a broader people, and I'm gonna start going live to
- 37:09Speaker 4: I'll build a page or I'll be able to go
- 37:11Speaker 4: live off of it to be able to talk. Because
- 37:13Speaker 4: you got some women like I met one lady her
- 37:16Speaker 4: son got sentenced to life. I was like, oh my god,
- 37:20Speaker 4: so I have to deal with not just the prisoners,
- 37:23Speaker 4: with the families as well. And that's what I saw
- 37:26Speaker 4: eat up because I wasn't just dealing with just the
- 37:28Speaker 4: prisoner who's gonna deal with the mothers because at the
- 37:31Speaker 4: end of the day, that's still their child behind bars.
- 37:33Speaker 4: And let me tell you something. It's easy when it
- 37:36Speaker 4: ain't your child. But I tell you the love of compassion,
- 37:40Speaker 4: when it's your close family member, it's gonna hit different.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Promise.
- 37:44Speaker 4: I've seen so many people, Oh, you do the crime,
- 37:47Speaker 4: you do the time, But when is the child, can
- 37:50Speaker 4: you oh pray? Oh she was the same one that
- 37:53Speaker 4: didn't have sympathy when nobody else. But when it's your
- 37:56Speaker 4: loved one that you close to in jail, I'm telling
- 37:59Speaker 4: you it, it hits different.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Oh yes, you know.
- 38:02Speaker 1: So I was open to.
- 38:05Speaker 4: If it ain't my child, which is charges in the bend,
- 38:07Speaker 4: drop priss God, through the jee House ministry, through the
- 38:11Speaker 4: prayers pastors, my pastor we prayed, and a good friend
- 38:14Speaker 4: of mine, we were all touching the grin. But he
- 38:16Speaker 4: still had to do a couple of years for one
- 38:19Speaker 4: of the charges that was his. But through what he
- 38:22Speaker 4: went through, I can't talk from that because I never
- 38:25Speaker 4: been in jail, but I can share the experience that
- 38:29Speaker 4: he experienced. A lot of them deal with mental issues
- 38:32Speaker 4: coming out of jail, and nobody talks about it. No
- 38:35Speaker 4: they just crazy, But we don't know what they went
- 38:37Speaker 4: through behind closed doors behind them.
- 38:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 38:41Speaker 4: So the jail House wasn't started for fame like you said,
- 38:45Speaker 4: or or for likes, because I knew I was going
- 38:48Speaker 4: to get a lot of adversity because people felt like,
- 38:52Speaker 4: why should you be praying.
- 38:53Speaker 1: For people in jail?
- 38:55Speaker 4: But there is a scripture and the Bible said we
- 38:58Speaker 4: are supposed to be praying.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Father was in prison. They forget, so we can't.
- 39:04Speaker 4: We don't just get to say who we want to
- 39:06Speaker 4: pray for and who he doesn't want to pray for.
- 39:09Speaker 4: So it started because I saw a need never thought
- 39:13Speaker 4: I was gonna have. And my son that died, my
- 39:16Speaker 4: twenty two old son, he was in jail and we
- 39:19Speaker 4: have to teach him how to pray when they inside.
- 39:21Speaker 4: He started a prayer group in there. It's fun, I said, boy,
- 39:23Speaker 4: now to pray when oh yeah, they preach it when
- 39:25Speaker 4: they're in jail.
- 39:26Speaker 3: They they.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Forget what I'm laughing because because they all does. But
- 39:36Speaker 4: they knew how to call on while they ended. And
- 39:39Speaker 4: that's yes, they knew when they're in trouble. I'm telling you,
- 39:42Speaker 4: they get really religious. But I'm not gonna look at
- 39:45Speaker 4: it as a negative point of view, right, I'm looking
- 39:47Speaker 4: at as a positive.
- 39:48Speaker 3: At least they know who to call on and you
- 39:52Speaker 3: teach them how to pray. They may not seem like
- 39:54Speaker 3: they listened, but they listen. They listen, They listen. Son't
- 39:59Speaker 3: I ask you this question before we get off, and again,
- 40:01Speaker 3: thank you for being here today. This has been an
- 40:03Speaker 3: amazing conversation. When you look in the mirror considering everything
- 40:09Speaker 3: that you've overcome overcame, what do you see or who
- 40:14Speaker 3: do you see? Can you describe that person for us today?
- 40:18Speaker 4: I see a person that's overcome obstacles, someone that they
- 40:22Speaker 4: said wasn't going to overcome. So I was just supposed
- 40:25Speaker 4: to be mentally just damaged of all the trauma. That's
- 40:29Speaker 4: just a snippet. There's a small clip of the trauma
- 40:32Speaker 4: that I face. But through the grace of God, I'm stronger.
- 40:36Speaker 4: It's made me wiser than I've ever been before in life.
- 40:41Speaker 4: I chose to take the bad and the good and
- 40:46Speaker 4: turn me to who I am today. I didn't stay
- 40:48Speaker 4: in that place so I would say I'm victory. I
- 40:51Speaker 4: became victorious through it all. So I look like a
- 40:54Speaker 4: woman that doesn't look like what she's been through that
- 40:57Speaker 4: I don't have to wear a pain getting ready to
- 41:00Speaker 4: I haven't wrote it down, but I'll tell you the
- 41:03Speaker 4: tide of a book. It's called camouflageing the pain. And
- 41:06Speaker 4: so I've camouflaged pain so that I wore, I spoke,
- 41:10Speaker 4: I preached, I did prayer, compastence, and I just covered
- 41:14Speaker 4: it all up. But you're looking at a woman today
- 41:17Speaker 4: that is here and not hiding behind the trauma that
- 41:20Speaker 4: I've been through, and that is okay to talk about it,
- 41:23Speaker 4: because if my story can help breach somebody else, then
- 41:26Speaker 4: guess what. My life is an open book. I have
- 41:29Speaker 4: nothing to hide. It does more damage from me hiding
- 41:32Speaker 4: what I've been through than to you know, try to
- 41:36Speaker 4: keep sup precedent, so I have to let it out
- 41:38Speaker 4: so I would say I'm a conqueror.
- 41:41Speaker 1: You're looking at a conquered woman today.
- 41:42Speaker 3: I love that. Thank you for sharing it with us again,
- 41:46Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. You guys have been listening
- 41:49Speaker 3: to another episode of Kicking in Wikiki. Before we actually
- 41:53Speaker 3: get off past, speak to someone who may be listening
- 41:58Speaker 3: right now that feel like they're not enough. What words
- 42:02Speaker 3: of inspiration or motivation can you share with them today?
- 42:06Speaker 1: Okay, I just want to tell you two things.
- 42:09Speaker 4: The first thing for my mother's that has had abused
- 42:12Speaker 4: with their children are making feel like that you made
- 42:15Speaker 4: past mistakes.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Do not let them define your future.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Do not let them keep throwing the things that you
- 42:20Speaker 4: did or didn't do. Because a lot of people want
- 42:23Speaker 4: to blame guilt because it makes them feel better that
- 42:25Speaker 4: they don't have to put the guilt on them, so
- 42:28Speaker 4: they try to bring it on you.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Don't let that.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Don't let anybody bring guilt on you, because you're above that.
- 42:34Speaker 4: You're rising above that in this season, in the hour,
- 42:37Speaker 4: it's the imperative that you don't let people hold you
- 42:40Speaker 4: to your past mistakes, are your past failures. You can
- 42:43Speaker 4: stay in that place. That's a very bad place to
- 42:45Speaker 4: be in. That's where de pression sits in. So you
- 42:47Speaker 4: cannot stay in that place. You got to just move
- 42:50Speaker 4: the past forward that and then know that you are enough,
- 42:53Speaker 4: Know that God has created you, that you are fearfully,
- 42:57Speaker 4: wonderfully and beautifully made, that you can anybody you want
- 43:01Speaker 4: to be. You can have anything you want to be.
- 43:04Speaker 4: Stop saying you can't. You can have whatever you put
- 43:07Speaker 4: in set your mind to, just put it into work,
- 43:09Speaker 4: get around people that's gonna be positive. They can help
- 43:12Speaker 4: push you into your next destiny. And anybody that does
- 43:15Speaker 4: not want to go with you in this season hour,
- 43:18Speaker 4: you have to know, I'm okay with it. If they
- 43:21Speaker 4: fall off, then let them fall off. It's okay because
- 43:24Speaker 4: who's truly meant to be with you or who's truly
- 43:26Speaker 4: meant to be in your life. They're not gonna fall off.
- 43:29Speaker 4: They're your solid ones and they're not going nowhere, and
- 43:32Speaker 4: God definitely will let you know. So just be encouraged,
- 43:36Speaker 4: keep God the center the head of your life, and
- 43:39Speaker 4: you'll never go off.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 43:41Speaker 3: With that being said, I am back with a new
- 43:43Speaker 3: episode on Thursdays on all streaming platforms. You can also
- 43:48Speaker 3: watch the full episode on my YouTube channel, Kicking in
- 43:51Speaker 3: with Kiki Media. Until next time, Purple.
- 43:55Speaker 5: Hus He came up with two till
