- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So it's a little rainy out here this morning, so if it starts to
- 0:34sound funny in the background, you know why.
- 0:36Not so bad that I can't be out here though.
- 0:38So this morning we are talking about allowing yourself to have
- 0:43fun. And I'll tell you this is
- 0:47something that is near and dear to my heart because I have fun
- 0:50doing things that other people don't have fun doing.
- 0:52So often times people think, well, she can't be having fun
- 0:55doing all this gardening, but I am having fun doing all the
- 0:58gardening. But that's not the the point of
- 1:01this conversation. The point of this conversation
- 1:03is what makes you feel like you're having fun.
- 1:07What are those things that make you feel like you're having fun
- 1:09now right away? If you have a bounce back in
- 1:12your head that says, oh, I just don't have time for fun right
- 1:16now. I'm too focused on XY and Z.
- 1:19I'm going to tell you right now, XY and Z is going to take 10
- 1:23times longer if you would just stop and have a little fun.
- 1:26And it doesn't have to be like an unabashed crazy night where
- 1:31you're just out there and partying like a rock star.
- 1:34I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about just allowing
- 1:38yourself to have joy and fun every single day.
- 1:42And this is allowing yourself to have fun because often times
- 1:47what happens is we forget how to have fun.
- 1:50And I'm not even joking a little.
- 1:53We forget how to have fun. We just put it aside and we say
- 1:57things like, I don't have time. That's not in the cards right
- 2:00now. I've got to do this, I've got to
- 2:02do this. I should be doing this, I'm not
- 2:05doing this. And we beat ourselves up
- 2:08continuously. But the problem with all of this
- 2:12boils down to one simple thing. When you choose to do that, you
- 2:17are taking away your greater strength of feeling, the ability
- 2:21to have grit when you need to, to power through some of the
- 2:24stuff that might be difficult in whatever project you're doing or
- 2:28just in life in general. Because you've you've depleted
- 2:31all the other tanks. You haven't allowed yourself to
- 2:34just take those small little things and say, OK, I'm going to
- 2:37go have fun. Whether it's just taking two
- 2:39hours to watch a movie or it's taking you know that 35 minutes
- 2:45to sit down and say, hey, I'm going to listen to this audible
- 2:48I had, I had a client the other day that's relatively new and I
- 2:52said, well, would you listen to an audible?
- 2:54It's 33 minutes and she's like, it's just, I don't like
- 2:58listening to, to things like that.
- 3:01And I, I reminded her, I said, listen, I understand that you
- 3:06don't like doing it because you feel like you're giving up
- 3:08something else in the meantime, meaning working on a project
- 3:13that she's deeply entrenched in, which I understand, I said, but
- 3:17what if that 33 minutes changed something for you?
- 3:20What if you invested the 33 minutes in yourself in a
- 3:23different way? And then something dramatically
- 3:25changed? Now, I had a lot of confidence
- 3:28in what she was going to go listen to because I knew it was
- 3:31going to shift her. But even something that I was
- 3:33telling her would be a good idea to do, she was resistant to it
- 3:37because she had gotten it into her head that no matter what was
- 3:40going on, she was not going to do anything else until this was
- 3:44all finished. And it was almost like she was
- 3:47beating herself up. Not almost.
- 3:49She was beating herself up to get the results and that never
- 3:54works long term. So even in an assignment she
- 3:57couldn't manage to pull herself past it because she was just
- 4:00looping on the fact that Oh well, no, there's no time for
- 4:04that. I hear people constantly tell me
- 4:07I don't have time, I don't have time, I don't have time, and I'm
- 4:11constantly course correcting it by saying you choose not to make
- 4:15the time and you must believe you have more than enough time.
- 4:19And I have a solid belief about this that if you have something
- 4:23on your heart that you really want to do, if you have
- 4:26something that you are really working on because it means
- 4:30something to you, you will make the time.
- 4:34You will have more than enough time because it's meant to be
- 4:38yours. If there's something that you're
- 4:40trying to force and you really don't want to do it, like that
- 4:44damn thing that keeps going every month from list to list
- 4:48and it never seems to get done on your goal list.
- 4:51It just keeps traveling over. We all have that one, you know,
- 4:54the one that we rewrite all the time.
- 4:56And we're like, oh, usually for me confession, it's clean up my
- 5:00e-mail because I just, I look at it, I see what I have to deal
- 5:04with and then I just don't go in and delete.
- 5:07And it's a pain in the butt. And I mean, I don't, I don't
- 5:10know about all of you guys, but it's like the never ending.
- 5:13It's like laundry. It never goes away.
- 5:15You know, it's just it's, it's, it always exists.
- 5:19So I'm, I'm bringing this up because I want you to realize in
- 5:23order to be better, in order to go further, in order to be the
- 5:27greatest version of yourself, you have to allow for those
- 5:32joyful times. You have to allow for fun.
- 5:35You have to make fun. And it's a, it's an important
- 5:40piece of it. You know, in my office, I keep
- 5:42jars of play DoH. And partly because I love them
- 5:46as a kid, partly because they smell great to me, because of
- 5:49how I had them when I was a kid. But for those 3 minutes that I'm
- 5:52playing with the play DoH, I feel fantastic.
- 5:55It's a moment of fun. So go make moments of fun today.
- 6:00Go have something that brings you joy.
- 6:02I don't care if it's just like, all right, I'm going to go get a
- 6:05lollipop and sit here. I'm going to, you know, play a
- 6:08puzzle for a little while. I don't know.
- 6:09Whatever it might be, do it. Have some fun.
- 6:13All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll
- 6:15see you tomorrow. Bye.
