- 1:49Sean McAllister: Let's spin the wheel.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: Welcome to episode 153 of Vegas Revealed.
- 2:02Dayna Roselli: I'm Dana Roselli, along with Sean McAllister, and as usual, we have a lot to go through today.
- 2:08Dayna Roselli: Tons of topics.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: We always say we could do more than one podcast a week easily.
- 2:13Sean McAllister: Are you well rested so we can power through this?
- 2:15Dayna Roselli: Not really.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: We've had a busy morning.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: So I'm thirsty, I'm hungry, and let's see how it goes.
- 2:21Dayna Roselli: I might be happy, I might be grumpy through the rest of this podcast.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: We'll see.
- 2:24Sean McAllister: Well, you might hear my tummy grumble a little bit too.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we had a busy morning.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: We're actually recording on a Thursday, and that's when we do our new segment in LA on KCal News.
- 2:34Dayna Roselli: So we were on this morning talking about the uh cannabis-friendly hotel that's coming.
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: Also, we talked about Drop a Canna, the big road construction project, and David Blaine adding shows, which we'll get to in a little bit when we do our rundown.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: So uh one of the things we did not talk about on our segment this morning, exclusive to the podcast, um, this new report that came out that kind of ranked the world's most powerful tourism cities.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's interesting because I was like, well, who is this?
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: Well, it's the World Travel and Tourism Council.
- 3:11Dayna Roselli: And apparently they analyze how much money tourists spend in destinations, but they take into like a lot of consideration of things they're also like getting ready for.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: Uh, for example, like Paris was at the top of the list.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: And even I said to you on, you know, Paris, France.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: But they said, well, they're getting the Olympics in 2024, the summer Olympics.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: So they're putting a lot into advertising and marketing and infrastructure.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: And so that kind of factors in, I guess.
- 3:41Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: So this is a look at 2022.
- 3:44Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 3:45Sean McAllister: So the year that was.
- 3:46Dayna Roselli: The year that was.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: But I did find it is interesting when I was looking at the top 10 list.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: And I also found it interesting when I was looking at the United States list, thinking, how did we not come in at number one?
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: But we didn't.
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: Like we got beat out by Orlando.
- 4:03Sean McAllister: I know.
- 4:04Sean McAllister: Let me tell you that castle and those mouse ears are powerful things.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: They bring in a lot of people.
- 4:11Dayna Roselli: It's insane to me.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: I mean, because it's like you think one theme park, but it's not.
- 4:15Dayna Roselli: There's Ebcot, there's all sorts of other it's a whole thing.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: It is.
- 4:19Sean McAllister: And, you know, in addition to, you know, all of the theme parks that they have in Orlando, it is also a big convention city as well.
- 4:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's true.
- 4:30Dayna Roselli: Very true.
- 4:31Dayna Roselli: I do hear a lot of people going there for work.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: So I guess they have it all.
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: And it's also warmer year-round, isn't it?
- 4:36Sean McAllister: Where and more humid.
- 4:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah, true.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: In the summer, especially.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: And I guess bigger groups when you think about families, right?
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: So, like, you know, we're not really a we can be a family destination, but um, if you're doing the right things.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: But mostly we've got couples coming.
- 4:53Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 4:53Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, small group of friends, or people come from all over and meet to do like a bachelor party or a bachelorette, or but I do feel like maybe they have like larger, larger groups because it's families and kids, parents, and grandma and grandpa and kids' friends, and all that kind of thing.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 5:11Sean McAllister: But the one thing, I mean, I think Las Vegas has a lot of things that Orlando doesn't have, but we don't have the mosquitoes.
- 5:18Sean McAllister: You're not going to be constantly swatting those mosquitoes away, itching the bug bites.
- 5:23Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:24Dayna Roselli: And we don't uh I we don't really have long lines either.
- 5:27Sean McAllister: No, no, we don't.
- 5:29Dayna Roselli: Like Disney, unless you get the like fast pass.
- 5:32Sean McAllister: Even that whole system got changed up and it's weird now.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: I haven't been in forever, but I do love a little uh Disney World.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: I love EBCOT.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: That's one of my favorite places.
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: Um, I haven't been in forever though.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: But um, just a comparison, Orlando took in 31 billion for 2022.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: And Las Vegas's total tourism income was 23 billion.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: Okay, so that's according to this WTTC organization.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: Pretty interesting.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: We went through the list, and um, I was asking you, are you surprised about this?
- 6:03Dayna Roselli: But so we came in fifth in the of the world's most powerful cities.
- 6:08Dayna Roselli: Um, Paris, France was number one.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: And then let's see, what else do we have?
- 6:12Sean McAllister: Uh Beijing, China came in at number two, then Orlando.
- 6:18Sean McAllister: There it is, at number three.
- 6:20Sean McAllister: Um, then Shanghai and Las Vegas.
- 6:24Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we beat out New York, New York.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: I know, and Tokyo, Japan, and Mexico City and London.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: Hey, Las Vegas, baby.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, a little interesting uh article that we saw posted about travel around the world, and I thought, okay, we're up there.
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: Not at the top, but we're up there.
- 6:44Sean McAllister: And yet another sign that when people come here, they are spending money.
- 6:49Sean McAllister: True.
- 6:49Sean McAllister: It may be on different things than they've spent on before, but we've talked a lot about that before.
- 6:55Sean McAllister: 23 previous episodes.
- 6:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, good, good tally there, huh?
- 7:01Sean McAllister: I'd say.
- 7:01Dayna Roselli: Definitely.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: Well, you might want to have a little champagne to celebrate.
- 7:06Dayna Roselli: And um, we went to the Smith Center to see the Moulin Rouge.
- 7:10Dayna Roselli: It was excellent.
- 7:11Sean McAllister: Such a good show, isn't it?
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: We really loved uh how they weaved through modern music and old songs too in the dialogue, right?
- 7:19Dayna Roselli: I mean, I don't know, like I'm sure they haven't done it like that forever because a lot of the songs were some newer ones.
- 7:25Sean McAllister: Newer songs, yeah.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: It was really cool.
- 7:27Dayna Roselli: The show was great, the the cast was great, the dancing was great, the costumes.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: It was a lot of fun.
- 7:33Sean McAllister: It was.
- 7:33Sean McAllister: And uh just going back to the soundtrack, I have not looked it up.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: Um, but I'd be interested to know how many songs are mashed up into that entire soundtrack of the Broadway musical.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: True.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: Because it's a it is a lot.
- 7:49Sean McAllister: You're going through and you're like, oh my gosh, that's this song, and they remix it, do it in different ways.
- 7:55Sean McAllister: But you're like, oh, that's great, clever.
- 7:57Sean McAllister: So that was fun.
- 7:59Sean McAllister: Um, the champagne before the show was fun as well.
- 8:03Sean McAllister: Uh, right now on the fifth floor lobby of the Smith Center, uh, they've created this pop-up champagne bar called Bubbles on Fift.
- 8:13Sean McAllister: We're hoping that popular demand makes it stick around and be a permanent fixture because it's a a perfect space for it.
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: It is, and I think uh it was open intermission too, which is cool.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: But I I even had like someone direct message me and say, hey, how is how is the champagne bar?
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: And the and I thought, oh, is this a thing?
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: And and I think that he or she mentioned it's a thing.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: Is it a thing in other performance halls?
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: I didn't know that.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: But apparently champagne bars are like a thing before before shows or during shows.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: I don't know if it's catching on and the Smith Center thought we're gonna try it, but that's coming from the knowledge of someone who it sounds like hops around to different kinds of shows and really enjoys that whole theater experience.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: So I don't know, maybe it is a a thing, and now the Smith Center is doing it.
- 9:04Sean McAllister: So see, I don't know.
- 9:05Sean McAllister: I don't usually seek out the champagne bar when I go see it.
- 9:10Sean McAllister: I just go to the regular bar and get a cup of vodka.
- 9:13Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 9:13Dayna Roselli: I had a little red wine myself.
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: We had great seats.
- 9:16Dayna Roselli: So thanks to the Smith Center for inviting us, and we had a fabulous time.
- 9:21Dayna Roselli: It's just such a different kind of night out that I think we all crave and don't sometimes a lot of people do make tons of time for it.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: I know you go a lot, but I'd like to do it more often because it's just a little bit more relaxing.
- 9:33Sean McAllister: It is, and you know the Smith Center is just such a beautiful complex, anyway, with the art deco design.
- 9:40Sean McAllister: The theater is absolutely gorgeous.
- 9:43Sean McAllister: Um, you know, they're pretty recently built, so state of the art, too.
- 9:49Sean McAllister: It is, and um, they're constantly doing things to you know bring people back, and their Broadway lineup is what does that too.
- 10:00Sean McAllister: Right, right.
- 10:02Sean McAllister: So yeah, excellent.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: Um Bubbles on the Fifth is there.
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: If you go to see a show, make sure you read and make sure that it's open because I don't know if they're gonna definitely continue to do it, but hopefully.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: And then Frozen is up next over at the Smith Center too.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: That'll be the next run for shows.
- 10:21Sean McAllister: And they're uh doing something interesting where they're doing a sensory-friendly uh version of the show for kids who have different sensory issues, kids and adults.
- 10:32Sean McAllister: Great.
- 10:32Sean McAllister: Um, so they're doing a special performance uh for that population too, which is fantastic.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: It really is because I know it's so popular that show.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: Well, we had tons of show announcements.
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: So you want to like whiz through these?
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's a long list, and we actually just picked a few because the email was just blown up on Monday, wasn't it?
- 10:53Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh, it was nuts.
- 10:55Sean McAllister: It was every two seconds something new was popping up in there.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: But yeah, uh, starting out with some comedy, how about that?
- 11:01Sean McAllister: Uh David Spade and Nikki Glazer are teaming up to perform four weekends throughout 2023.
- 11:09Sean McAllister: Uh, this is all over at the Venetian Theater inside the Venetian Resort Las Vegas.
- 11:14Sean McAllister: Uh, they'll be doing shows April 28th and 29th, June 30th and July 1st, September 29th and 30th, November 17th and 18th.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: That's a run.
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: David Spade, so funny.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: I've never seen or heard Nikki Glacer.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: What's what's her deal?
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: She's also gonna be in town for another big charity event.
- 11:33Dayna Roselli: Is she she's been on a couple different TV shows, and I guess maybe, maybe has a comedy special out as well, but someone I want to actually look up and learn more about.
- 11:41Dayna Roselli: So I look forward to that.
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: But if she's pairing up with David Spade, she's gotta be good.
- 11:46Sean McAllister: That's a good comedy duo, right there.
- 11:48Sean McAllister: That'll be a that'll be a fun night.
- 11:50Dayna Roselli: And uh Stevie Nicks coming to Las Vegas.
- 11:53Dayna Roselli: This was huge, right?
- 11:54Dayna Roselli: Rock and roll Hall of Famer.
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: She actually opened up the park theater over at Park MGM.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: You and I both saw her live.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: She was fantastic.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: She was.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: And now she's actually doing a tour into 2023 with 14 performances across the U.S., and one of the stops is Las Vegas over at the T-Mobile Arena, and that will be March 18th.
- 12:17Dayna Roselli: So uh get your tickets now.
- 12:18Dayna Roselli: That's definitely gonna be a hot show.
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: I saw so many people excited about that.
- 12:22Sean McAllister: Well, I mean, that's just like iconic music that Stevie Nix has and with Fleetwood Mac and everything.
- 12:28Sean McAllister: So um also we have Nickelback coming to Las Vegas Saturday, July 15th.
- 12:34Sean McAllister: That is at uh T-Mobile Arena.
- 12:37Sean McAllister: Multi-platinum Scottish rocker KT Tunstall is coming to town as well, June 17th.
- 12:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that'll be good over at Sunset Station.
- 12:46Dayna Roselli: That's a great venue.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: And then also at Sunset Station's amphitheater, country superstar Jimmy Allen coming into town, and that's June 24th.
- 12:55Dayna Roselli: KT, I actually saw her and met her, you know, my friend Matt Goss.
- 13:01Dayna Roselli: He was in a group called Bros when he was younger with his twin brother.
- 13:05Dayna Roselli: Um, I happened to be in London.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: He was doing some shows, and they did this special on BBC and they invited KT to come play with him.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: And it was called A Night In with Bros.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: And anyway, she was like, Oh my god, I grew up with you guys.
- 13:16Dayna Roselli: So it was so fun to see them perform together.
- 13:19Dayna Roselli: And they just rocked out both of them, Matt and KT on the guitar.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: It was the best live performance I've ever seen, like really raw.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 13:26Dayna Roselli: And she is great on that guitar, Unreal.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: So um, she's got so many hits too, you know.
- 13:32Dayna Roselli: Suddenly, uh see.
- 13:33Sean McAllister: Yeah, double wears Prada.
- 13:35Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: Um, and then Jimmy Allen I interviewed on the red carpet last year when the Grammys came to town for one time only here in Las Vegas and met Jimmy.
- 13:46Dayna Roselli: What a great guy! He and I said to him, I said, Do you want to play Vegas?
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: And he's like, I always want to play Vegas.
- 13:52Dayna Roselli: So I love that.
- 13:54Dayna Roselli: He's fantastic and has really become super popular.
- 13:57Dayna Roselli: I think he was even nominated for a Grammy last year.
- 14:00Dayna Roselli: Didn't win, but was nominated.
- 14:01Dayna Roselli: So that'll be a good show.
- 14:03Sean McAllister: We also have uh David Blaine extending his run of shows over at Resorts World.
- 14:10Sean McAllister: If you go listen back after uh the opening of David Spade of David's David Blaine, David Spade.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: I know we got lots of spades.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: Well, oh yeah, because it his show's called Spades, right?
- 14:22Sean McAllister: I know.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: I was like, why am I seeing spades and David?
- 14:25Dayna Roselli: Didn't we just talk about that?
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: David Blaine in Spades is the name of David Blaine's residency at Resorts World.
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: There we go.
- 14:33Sean McAllister: Thank you.
- 14:34Sean McAllister: And when it opened, we predicted that the show would extend and more dates would be added beyond the initial batch.
- 14:40Sean McAllister: That's exactly what has happened, and we now know when those dates are.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: Uh, there are going to be performances in April, June, uh, and May.
- 14:50Sean McAllister: April, May, June of 2023.
- 14:54Sean McAllister: And that's in addition to some shows that were previously announced in March.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: So more opportunity to see David Blaine.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: It's a great show.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 15:02Dayna Roselli: You know, it's interesting hearing people talk about the show.
- 15:04Dayna Roselli: Everyone has a different take.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: Um, but most say, I haven't really seen anything like that before.
- 15:09Dayna Roselli: It was weird.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: It was like, it was like I was sitting there watching his TV special, but I was in the room with him.
- 15:15Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: Because it literally breathes or doesn't breathe because he holds his breath.
- 15:21Dayna Roselli: He held his breath for like nine minutes and I don't know, two seconds when we were there.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: But you're sitting there, like for that part of it for nine minutes watching this happen.
- 15:30Dayna Roselli: He's underwater, he's got an alligator in there, and you're just sitting there, but it's fun because you're on the edge of your seat.
- 15:39Sean McAllister: You are it's like it's like my I've said it before.
- 15:42Sean McAllister: My jaw was on the ground.
- 15:44Sean McAllister: Yeah, I was like holding my breath, I was covering my eyes, peeking through my fingers.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: I mean, it it's tense.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: There are really tense moments in that show.
- 15:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, a lot of, and some people say, Well, I don't like to watch people, you know, not survive, but like do a stunt where they could die, and I'm there to witness if they survive.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Well, I guess if that's not your thing, then don't go see David playing.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Because one after the other after the other, uh, there are scenarios that could easily off him if he wasn't good.
- 16:19Sean McAllister: True, true.
- 16:20Sean McAllister: But he is a professional and it is a controlled environment.
- 16:24Dayna Roselli: So did he read a script or they played a video before he came out that said, do not try this?
- 16:31Sean McAllister: I think it was an announcement, yeah.
- 16:33Dayna Roselli: It was funny, yeah.
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Oh, good, good point.
- 16:36Dayna Roselli: Good good announcement to have.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: Um, speaking of horror, we apparently have a horror experience coming to Las Vegas over next to Area 15.
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: That is a big space, and they've been making more and more room.
- 16:51Dayna Roselli: We thought for more parking lots and stuff like that, but yeah.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: I mean, part of a a 20-acre expansion that's coming to area 15 is this year-round horror experience uh from Universal Resort and Parks.
- 17:09Sean McAllister: Um, they're gonna be building this immersive attraction.
- 17:15Sean McAllister: It's kind of like uh Universal has like the Halloween horror nights around Halloween time in the fall.
- 17:21Sean McAllister: Um, and that's wildly popular.
- 17:23Sean McAllister: Tons of people go over there because Universal does have such a library of really good classic scary films, and so that's kind of what they're gonna be basing this attraction off of.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: So you'll be stepping into some of the most classic horror films of all time, and then they're going to add some additional, more modern, you know, scary stories into the mix as well.
- 17:49Sean McAllister: Um, so it should be really interesting, it should be.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: So it'll be permanent.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: When they say permanent, it means it'll be year-round, right?
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: Like just and people like listen, they love the horror stuff.
- 17:58Dayna Roselli: And we have some attractions in town that people just love the haunted mansion.
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: I don't either.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: I mean, I definitely won't be going to this.
- 18:07Sean McAllister: And I don't like when like people jump out at you or reach at you.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: But I wonder if it will be like that, or you can choose.
- 18:14Dayna Roselli: Like maybe there's like if it's like maybe like Charlie Brown's big pumpkin or whatever it's called.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: The big pumpkin, large pumpkin, what's it called?
- 18:25Sean McAllister: The giant, the great pumpkin.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: Oh, the great pumpkin, yeah.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: That's my kind of speed.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: I don't think the horror experience is gonna happen.
- 18:32Sean McAllister: I mean, if this was like a museum of the like horrorist, and yeah, where you like ride through a car and stuff happens in front of you, but I don't like to be immersed in the middle of all that stuff.
- 18:47Dayna Roselli: I don't either.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: No, I don't like when anyone taps me on the shoulder and I don't know who they are.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: No, and it's dark and creepy.
- 18:54Dayna Roselli: But I know people are gonna love this attraction.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: I think it's gonna be great that we're getting something like this.
- 18:59Dayna Roselli: Interesting, because we've never had we we don't really have any like theme parks here at all.
- 19:05Dayna Roselli: We don't have an amusement park.
- 19:07Dayna Roselli: I mean, we have a roller coaster at New York, New York.
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: Right, but people always say, like, it is we have a lot of like land, a lot of spots that could have like a six flags or you know, more.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: So it's interesting that we're getting a universal, maybe this is the start of something.
- 19:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, it could be.
- 19:20Sean McAllister: Uh back in the day, MGM had kind of that theme park back behind the the casino, but that's you know, long gone.
- 19:28Sean McAllister: I did see somebody comment though, um, after this attraction was announced, they were like, Oh, Vegas is becoming Orlando.
- 19:36Dayna Roselli: Oh no.
- 19:37Sean McAllister: Well, we just talked about that.
- 19:39Sean McAllister: Take them over, yeah.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: I think a top US spot.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, we'll have a little bit of everything, right?
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: What's better than variety?
- 19:45Dayna Roselli: Because I doubt Orlando's gonna open a bunch of hotel casinos with fabulous nightlife and top-notch dining.
- 19:53Sean McAllister: I have heard talk of uh other similar types of attractions coming uh near the near the strip near the strip in the future as well.
- 20:05Sean McAllister: So this may not be the only thing that we see popping up.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: Well, stay tuned, everyone.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: And as we learn more about the universal attraction, they don't have a name for it yet.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: I saw that that'll be coming soon.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: Or a date.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: Hey, and real quick side note when I think of attractions, uh, just to wanted to throw a line in here.
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: If you're looking for a job, MSG Sphere announced they're hiring 3,000 people here in Las Vegas.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, and we we wondered, like that's so huge, right?
- 20:31Dayna Roselli: We talked about when it opens, it's gonna be amazing, but people have to work there.
- 20:35Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 20:35Dayna Roselli: So 3,000 people will be working there.
- 20:39Dayna Roselli: So if you're looking for a job, keep your eyes peeled.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, great opportunities there.
- 20:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and that's Madison Square Garden Entertainment that's doing that.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: Beverly Theater's gonna open, isn't it?
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: Finally.
- 20:50Sean McAllister: It is.
- 20:51Sean McAllister: So this is uh a project that we've you know kept close tabs on uh over the past couple years.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: The Beverly Theater is the first independent film house to open in Las Vegas.
- 21:04Sean McAllister: It's gonna be centered around independent film, live performances, and uh literary events.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: I just had the microphone.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: Sorry if that bumped.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: Uh yeah, and it's and I was it's interesting because you think we have everything, as we always say.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: And when you say the first, it's like, wait, we don't have one, and it's like, oh no, we don't.
- 21:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, not one that's uh specifically designed and dedicated to independent film.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: There are places where independent films will run, but nothing dedicated to that.
- 21:36Sean McAllister: So, you know, that's gonna bring a a different level of entertainment to town.
- 21:41Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 21:41Dayna Roselli: And they announced the official date of it opening, and that's gonna be March 3rd.
- 21:46Dayna Roselli: There's a whole premier week set with different events, and that's gonna be March 3rd to the 7th.
- 21:52Dayna Roselli: So we're glad that you and I were able to do a video on the groundbreaking, and we are gonna be doing a new video that recaps everything that's.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: Happening there, the getting a look inside, uh, talking with the people who made it happen.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: And it's it's really special to the people who are putting this theater together.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: And that's Kip Kelly who's running it, and Beverly Rogers.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: It's been her vision to do this for so long.
- 22:17Dayna Roselli: We caught up with her recently, and she just seems like she is over the moon.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Oh, she was excited just that the building was going to start construction.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 22:28Sean McAllister: And to see she said it has surpassed her wildest dreams, and so excited for what the Beverly Theater is going to bring.
- 22:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:36Dayna Roselli: And and the cool thing is, is they have a patio area called Segway, and it's like gonna offer like coffee, wine, beer, and there's gonna be like different things up there, like jazz or maybe poetry reading or a book signing, and it's just gonna be a place people can come and go.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: And you know, if they go see a film, they can carry their conversation up there.
- 22:59Dayna Roselli: It's just it's got a lot of really cool things um that I'm excited to experience, and we'll be talking about it more, obviously, as the opening gets here.
- 23:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, a beautiful building, too.
- 23:10Sean McAllister: Uh also registration open now for the hospitality show, which um, you know, makes sense to be here in Las Vegas because we do have a big hospitality industry.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: You know, it caught my eye because it said it's a new show.
- 23:28Dayna Roselli: So it's being held June 27th to the 29th over at the Venetian, and they call it a bold new hospitality operations and technology event.
- 23:39Dayna Roselli: So if you are interested in attending this new show, registration is now opened, and apparently the early bird rates are available until March 10th.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: And I was looking around at their website and I was like, they have a lot going on, it's gonna be great.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: And I'm looking at the website now, and it's the hospitality show.com.
- 24:01Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 24:01Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 24:02Sean McAllister: Well, and and lots of innovation, I'm sure, is going to be on the convention floor over there.
- 24:07Sean McAllister: Even in the past few years since the pandemic, uh, there's been so much technology that's been implemented at uh Las Vegas resorts.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:18Sean McAllister: You know, a lot of times you don't even check in with a person at the front desk anymore.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 24:23Sean McAllister: You have your, you know, a code to go scan, a machine pops out your your room keys and off you go.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: Right.
- 24:31Dayna Roselli: No, I know.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: And it seems like that just it just seems to be getting better and better as far as making things efficient and faster.
- 24:39Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's always a worry that, you know, they'll require less and less people to hire and technology will take over, but that's just the way that it goes, right?
- 24:49Dayna Roselli: But um I think this show will really be great at featuring some of that stuff.
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: And you're right, that seems to be a big focus at a lot of these conventions that have been coming through over the years.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's where we saw robotic bartenders.
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: We did, and we've have a few around town, don't we?
- 25:06Sean McAllister: And they are popular, people stop at them.
- 25:08Dayna Roselli: The other day I was at a, I think we talked about that, at a Rachel's kitchen.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: It's just like a little, you know, um, food place down in Green Valley, and they make great food, and a robot delivered my meal.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: I was like, what is like rolling over to me and it had my tray with my wrap on it?
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: It was like really weird.
- 25:29Dayna Roselli: But I mean, it eliminated the server and me having to go pick it up and them yelling out my name.
- 25:34Sean McAllister: It was like, but you're a little uncomfortable with this brave new world word.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: I felt like it was creepy, but but it was fun.
- 25:45Sean McAllister: Uh, should we do tips?
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, let's do that.
- 25:53Sean McAllister: All right, so if you don't know, Las Vegas is a big community for giving.
- 25:58Sean McAllister: There are huge charity galas that happen all year round, and we have a couple big ones coming up, and there is a ton of star power attached to each of them.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: I mean, power of love, keep memory alive.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: This gala is coming back to the MGM grand, and it's February 18th.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: It's a huge gala.
- 26:20Dayna Roselli: You've worked the red carpet there many, many years in a row and seen, you name it.
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: Last year, weren't you?
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: You were talking to Neil Diamond and all sorts of people.
- 26:28Dayna Roselli: They always um have a huge lineup of celebrities that come to this and really support the cause.
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: And when we say the cause, it's the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: We are lucky enough to have that here in Las Vegas, and they need to constantly raise money for it because it's expanding.
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: Um, they're cutting edge research, uh, serves more and more people, sadly, as the years go on.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: And this year, they have announced the lineup.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: And I know a lot of people save up money to go to this gala and support, and it's something they look forward to every year.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: And then there's a lot of people who can't afford to go because it is a big ticket.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: But as we said, it's at the MGM Grand, so maybe keep your eyes peeled and you can see some of these folks walking around, or you could go, you know, go hang out there and see people after.
- 27:22Dayna Roselli: We just like to give people like an idea of what's going on.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is a very glamorous event.
- 27:28Sean McAllister: I mean, people are, you know, dressed to the nines.
- 27:31Sean McAllister: Uh, gourmet dinner is served.
- 27:33Sean McAllister: Wolfgang Puck is one of the um really, he was there at the very first uh Power of Love.
- 27:41Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 27:41Sean McAllister: And that was just when it was a little meeting of of friends who said, Hey, let's have a dinner.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 27:47Sean McAllister: And start raising some money and has progressed into this massive event with I mean some top-notch entertainers.
- 27:54Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: And this year, uh Sammy Hagar has stepped up and Sammy Hagar and and brought his friends along.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: Um, to it sounds like he's gonna put on a great show.
- 28:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's gonna be actually doing a a lot of the the performances and orchestrating.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: And you know, I've only seen highlights.
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: I actually haven't been to the full event besides the carpet before.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: Um, but I see a lot of collaborative performances, right?
- 28:18Dayna Roselli: It seems like somebody's up there and and another person comes up and sings a song with them.
- 28:23Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna be Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Rick Springfield, Michael McDonald, John Mayer, uh, Sam Moore, uh just to name a few, Kevin Cronin, and Chad Kroger, a long, big lineup of a lot of it's rock and rollers.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I guess you put it, right?
- 28:44Sean McAllister: It'll be a rock and night for sure.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: It sure will.
- 28:47Sean McAllister: Love it.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: Um, John Mayer's gonna be there.
- 28:49Dayna Roselli: Paula Abdul is gonna be there, Maria Shriver, Wolfgang Puck, and then the list goes on.
- 28:54Dayna Roselli: They always have additions of more and more celebrities that come out.
- 28:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's an incredible night, incredible cause.
- 29:02Sean McAllister: Um, looking forward to that.
- 29:04Sean McAllister: Something else that's coming up at the end of March is uh the Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation's annual governor's black tie event.
- 29:14Sean McAllister: This is like a whole weekend long thing that kicks off with uh a concert, which this year is going to be headlined by Luke Bryan.
- 29:23Sean McAllister: Oh, that'll be great.
- 29:25Sean McAllister: That's gonna get the crowd up on their feet and energized.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: We were there last year and we loved it, and so we thought, oh boy, and they're doing it, doing it uh this night where he's gonna perform because it's a three-day event, um, is at the M.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: And he's gonna put on a great show.
- 29:43Dayna Roselli: Apparently, there are limited tickets for this one, but again, March 30th at the M.
- 29:49Dayna Roselli: Luke Bryan, you could catch a glimpse, you know?
- 29:53Dayna Roselli: Um, and so he will be there.
- 29:55Dayna Roselli: Uh tickets are limited.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: You can go to their Instagram page, Olympia Foundation, and look.
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: There's an email there.
- 30:03Dayna Roselli: If you are really interested and would like to attend and donate, you can go there and grab a ticket.
- 30:08Dayna Roselli: There's an email to uh Brittany, who is over there at Olympia, where you can get some information.
- 30:15Sean McAllister: And by the way, um the funds that are raised at um the governor's black tie are distributed all year round to a ton of uh local charities here in southern Nevada.
- 30:28Sean McAllister: They do great work, you know, keeping charities funded, really.
- 30:33Dayna Roselli: Millions.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: It's unreal.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: Um, you and I just have been working on a video for them with all the charities involved, and it really is incredible.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: They give so much.
- 30:45Dayna Roselli: I was kind of distracted before when I was talking because I was looking up their Instagram.
- 30:49Dayna Roselli: It's Olympia C O Foundation on Instagram.
- 30:55Dayna Roselli: Tons of information there about the event, how you can donate, all that good stuff.
- 30:59Sean McAllister: Got it.
- 31:00Sean McAllister: So that is all of that was tip number one.
- 31:03Sean McAllister: Because if you did want to see some, you know, great entertainment and give to good causes at the same time, you know, those events are great options.
- 31:12Sean McAllister: Or if you just want to people watch a little bit.
- 31:14Sean McAllister: Uh tip number two, Dana is giving me a brain freeze already, but I love it.
- 31:21Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: So I started following Nielsen's frozen custard on Instagram on our Vegas Revealed page.
- 31:29Dayna Roselli: And I said, Sean, I can't get over this.
- 31:31Dayna Roselli: The videos, it looks delicious.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: I need to go here.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: And you said, Oh, I've been, it is delicious.
- 31:37Sean McAllister: So good.
- 31:39Sean McAllister: So good.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: Is it now?
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: Does it compare to Abbott's custard in Rochester, New York, where we're from?
- 31:44Dayna Roselli: That's what I'm curious about.
- 31:46Dayna Roselli: Because you know, we we we grew up with some of the best frozen custard in our hometown.
- 31:51Sean McAllister: I feel like it's different.
- 31:53Sean McAllister: Different, okay.
- 31:54Sean McAllister: I feel like it's different than Abbott's.
- 31:56Sean McAllister: Why?
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: All right, I don't want to put you on the spot.
- 32:01Dayna Roselli: Well, it's different.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: So anyway, Abbott's is a classic.
- 32:04Dayna Roselli: Nielsen's frozen custard looks just as good on their Instagram page.
- 32:08Dayna Roselli: And obviously they are good because they are in Henderson, but now they are expanding to Summerlin with the debut of their premium frozen custard joint at the Red Rock Casino Food Court.
- 32:20Dayna Roselli: It's opening February 3rd.
- 32:22Dayna Roselli: So congratulations.
- 32:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, I'm very excited about this.
- 32:26Sean McAllister: And that's going to be a very popular spot over there at Red Rock.
- 32:32Sean McAllister: I have no doubt in my mind.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: And I love that it's, you know, small, owned by a husband and wife duo.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: Um, and they're gonna have um a couple little events uh on February 3rd.
- 32:44Dayna Roselli: It opens at noon, and everyone, let's see, the first 100 people get a free cone.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: So there you go.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: And then they'll be doing giveaways and stuff like that.
- 32:54Dayna Roselli: So it'll be a good time.
- 32:56Sean McAllister: And Dana, the one thing that you're gonna want to get when you visit Nielsen's is their famous concrete.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, what's that?
- 33:05Sean McAllister: So that's when you choose your flavor of uh custard, uh-huh, and then they have like the mixin' the you choose whatever you want mixed in with it.
- 33:17Sean McAllister: Are we are we looking at this?
- 33:19Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, look at that.
- 33:21Sean McAllister: It's like chocolate.
- 33:22Sean McAllister: It's custard with Reese's pieces.
- 33:25Dayna Roselli: Oh I do love uh frozen custard, you know, like I'm not a huge fan of the sweets and desserts and all that, but ice cream, I love it.
- 33:35Dayna Roselli: And when there's things you can crunch on inside, even better.
- 33:40Dayna Roselli: It looks delicious.
- 33:41Dayna Roselli: We might have to go to this opening as soon as we end the podcast.
- 33:43Dayna Roselli: I think I might be putting it on the calendar.
- 33:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, I might just skip lunch today and go straight for custard.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: All right, so they're opening at Red Rock Casino.
- 33:52Dayna Roselli: Congratulations.
- 33:52Dayna Roselli: Uh, Red Rock has a lot of really cool things opening.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: They've just opened a bunch of stuff and now they have another restaurant opening.
- 33:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, that one's called Naxos Taverna.
- 34:01Sean McAllister: It's a Greek seafood restaurant.
- 34:05Sean McAllister: Um, also, they've kind of reimagined the space that used to be Crimson Nightclub.
- 34:09Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 34:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and they're opening this soon as well, and it's called uh the Rouge Room Las Vegas.
- 34:17Dayna Roselli: Ooh la la.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: It's a European-inspired cocktail lounge located inside Red Rock.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: Um, and it's opening spring of 2023.
- 34:28Dayna Roselli: I also saw that um they are hiring for pool season.
- 34:33Dayna Roselli: So I think they've already even had one of the job fairs already.
- 34:37Dayna Roselli: So it's that time of year.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: Can you believe it?
- 34:39Sean McAllister: I know already.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: So they have yeah, a lot coming up over at Red Rock.
- 34:43Dayna Roselli: They've been making a lot of changes and additions, and we always like to mention Red Rock because everyone is so fond of it.
- 34:49Dayna Roselli: Um, not only if you live on the west side of Las Vegas, but a lot of people that visit like to take the drive over there.
- 34:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's a nice spot.
- 34:55Dayna Roselli: It is, and now frozen yogurt, let's see, caviar, um fish and Greek food, and then they've got Latai, so they've got a whole bunch of variety over there.
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: Go around the world at Red Rock, yeah, and then you can gamble, you can go to a movie, you can do a lot over at Red Rock.
- 35:13Dayna Roselli: They do really have a lot going on.
- 35:14Sean McAllister: Go to the spa, then go across the street to a baseball game.
- 35:18Sean McAllister: Right.
- 35:19Sean McAllister: Do some shopping and dining at downtown Summerland.
- 35:21Dayna Roselli: Yes, and then maybe go for a hike at Red Rock.
- 35:24Sean McAllister: Look at that.
- 35:24Sean McAllister: We have your itinerary already planned.
- 35:27Dayna Roselli: All right, that's it for tips, and that's it for this week's show.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: We are interviewing someone coming up.
- 35:35Dayna Roselli: And Sean, I know you're a fan of this show that she's on, and we said, you know what?
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: We don't usually do interviews like this, but I think we're gonna make an exception.
- 35:44Sean McAllister: We are.
- 35:44Sean McAllister: Heather Gay is one of the real housewives of Salt Lake City on the Bravo Network.
- 35:51Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 35:51Sean McAllister: Uh, she has a new book out called Bad Mormon.
- 35:54Sean McAllister: She's kind of left the Mormon church, and this book kind of dives into everything involved with that.
- 36:01Sean McAllister: Sounds juicy.
- 36:02Sean McAllister: It is gonna be juicy.
- 36:04Sean McAllister: So uh next week you'll be hearing uh part of that conversation.
- 36:08Dayna Roselli: Can't wait.
- 36:09Dayna Roselli: We're gonna chat with her via satellite, and we will have that for you next week.
- 36:13Dayna Roselli: Sean's got all sorts of questions lined up for her, but we're gonna talk to her too about Vegas.
- 36:18Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 36:18Dayna Roselli: Because I'm sure she's been here a few times, right?
- 36:21Sean McAllister: Well, I know she's been here at least once with the the housewives.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 36:25Dayna Roselli: Well, that's good to know.
- 36:26Dayna Roselli: I'm sure they got into a little bit of drama.
- 36:29Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 36:29Dayna Roselli: We're gonna talk to her all about Vegas, but she'll be here doing a book signing and we'll let you know when that is and where you can go see her as well.
- 36:35Dayna Roselli: All right, have a great week, everyone.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Because the sky is cold.
