- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Question for you today is where does a wave start?
- 0:34Where does a wave really start? Well, it starts way out in the
- 0:38ocean, way out in the ocean. The motion from the ocean, don't
- 0:43pun and rhyme intended in this is that you can't see where it
- 0:48starts, but we see the end result.
- 0:50We see the end result as a wave comes up and it crashes on the
- 0:53shore. And if you are in the water,
- 0:56you're looking at a wave and you maybe see it off in a distance
- 1:00where you can start seeing little swells and you say, oh,
- 1:02here comes a wave. But that really still isn't the
- 1:05beginning of the wave. The wave started so far before
- 1:08that and we just have no concept of that because we see where we
- 1:13think it begins and when then we see where it starts to come up
- 1:17and Crest and then we see where it crashes on the shore.
- 1:20So what's the point of this? Well, the point is that when you
- 1:24talk about people who go and make waves in the world, and we
- 1:27say, oh, this person's making waves, meaning they're changing
- 1:30things up, meaning they're doing something different, meaning
- 1:33they're being big or they're starting to be seen.
- 1:36But is that where it really started?
- 1:39And no, it started long before that.
- 1:41It started when they made that simple decision to sit down and
- 1:44say, I want to do something better or different or bigger or
- 1:48however it comes out. And we forget how much effort
- 1:53and work and planning and thought and energy and
- 1:58mindfulness and manifesting goes into those outcomes of that wave
- 2:02hitting the shore. We see the wave hitting the
- 2:05shore. So therefore now we acknowledge
- 2:08that. And then we start to make our
- 2:10opinions based on all of that. But we forget completely how
- 2:16much went into it before that, even for ourselves.
- 2:20So it is incredibly important imperative that we remember
- 2:25those things. Because if we don't remember
- 2:27them, if we don't take that into consideration, if we don't start
- 2:31to pull that down into us, what ends up happening is something
- 2:34interesting because it's our opinions come out very strongly
- 2:42about ourselves and others, but they come out very strongly.
- 2:45And they don't always come out in a positive way.
- 2:48They come out like, oh, you know, judgement and be ridicule
- 2:53and just comes out as mean people stuff, just unnecessary
- 2:59energy that goes in and just yuck.
- 3:02It's just yucky. And you know, for lack of a
- 3:04better word, it's just yucky and it has a funk and it sticks.
- 3:08And then if somebody hears that, if they hear that you are
- 3:12putting that out there, then all of a sudden you become that
- 3:15person that does that. So why are we talking about
- 3:19this? Because typically at the end of
- 3:21the year, you start to see people talking about what their
- 3:24successes were. They talk about how much they've
- 3:27accomplished or they talk about what they've missed.
- 3:30And we sit there and we pass judgment.
- 3:33Consciously or unconsciously, we start to pass judgment.
- 3:36We do it on ourselves, we do it on others.
- 3:39And it starts to erode what we're thinking we want to
- 3:42accomplish for ourselves or what they have accomplished moving
- 3:46forward. And you know, I have said a
- 3:50bazillion times on this podcast that we must remember that
- 3:54everyone is self focused. And it doesn't mean that they're
- 3:56selfish, but it means they're self focused.
- 3:58And you can't help it because it's part of your wiring for
- 4:01survival. You can't get past that
- 4:04fundamental part of your amygdala that says you must have
- 4:08safety. And over the years, that has
- 4:11morphed into something that is much more nefarious in certain
- 4:14ways because it causes us to, you know, we don't have those
- 4:20same threats that we had a long, long time ago.
- 4:23We don't worry about being eaten by a dinosaur, but that doesn't
- 4:26mean that that wiring isn't still there.
- 4:28So we start to use that against ourselves, against others.
- 4:32And it is critical as you start to see those things showing up
- 4:36and start to hear those things showing up about what people
- 4:39have done and what they've accomplished, that you stop and
- 4:42you pause and you acknowledge, oh, of course I'm going to put
- 4:45this up against what I did. I can't help it.
- 4:47It's part of my wiring. So be OK with the fact that
- 4:51you're comparing, OK? And people will say all the
- 4:54time, don't compare yourself to others.
- 4:55Well, that's like saying don't think of the color blue because
- 4:58immediately your brain goes blue and it thinks of it.
- 5:01Instead, be comfortable with the fact that there's a comparison
- 5:04taking place and you're not going to allow it to stay.
- 5:09The comparison will kick into gear.
- 5:11But then you have to say, no, I choose to celebrate how great
- 5:15this is for this person. And I choose to view it a
- 5:19different way. I choose something different.
- 5:22And that's where it's imperative that you remember where the
- 5:25waves started a long time ago. All the things that this person
- 5:28poured in that you never even saw, all the things that you
- 5:32never even connected the dots on.
- 5:34You could even sit down with that person and ask them, where
- 5:37did this all begin? How did you learn this?
- 5:39Because these are our opportunities to learn from
- 5:41other people. And if we're genuinely
- 5:43interested and we really, really want to know how we can help
- 5:47ourselves and we go to those people and we talk to them, we
- 5:50might actually learn something. So one, remember, comparison is
- 5:54OK. And two, remember, where did
- 5:56that wave start to begin with? How did this person do this?
- 5:59All great thoughts for the day. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:02you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 6:05Bye.
