- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. All right. Welcome
- 0:07Speaker 1: back to Real Talk with Mike D. I am Mike D.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening, as always.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Did you ever have one of those dreams that just
- 0:18Speaker 1: won't leave you alone? Not the kind of dream you
- 0:21Speaker 1: have when you're asleep. I'm talking about the kind of
- 0:24Speaker 1: dream you think about when you're sitting in traffic. Maybe
- 0:27Speaker 1: when you're at work. When you're looking out the window
- 0:31Speaker 1: on a cold morning, that little voice in your head saying, man,
- 0:35Speaker 1: wouldn't it be nice to live somewhere warm where you
- 0:38Speaker 1: could hear the ocean every day? Well, I've got one
- 0:41Speaker 1: of those dreams. I want to move to the beach.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I want to wake up and know the ocean is
- 0:47Speaker 1: right outside. I want to walk down to the water
- 0:50Speaker 1: with a cup of coffee. I want to feel the
- 0:53Speaker 1: sand underneath my feet. And at the end of the day,
- 0:55Speaker 1: I want to sit somewhere overlooking the water Watch that
- 1:00Speaker 1: big orange sun disappear below the horizon and listen to
- 1:04Speaker 1: some Kenny Chesney. There's something about Kenny Chesney's music that
- 1:09Speaker 1: just feels like the beach. It feels like freedom. It
- 1:12Speaker 1: feels like summer. It feels like grabbing a cold drink,
- 1:16Speaker 1: kicking your shoes off and saying, you know what? Life
- 1:20Speaker 1: is pretty damn good. But here's the thing. I'm not
- 1:24Speaker 1: talking about running away from life. I'm talking about building
- 1:27Speaker 1: a life that feels like it's actually mine. Picture this.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's about 630 in the morning. The sun is coming up.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You walk outside and the first thing you hear is
- 1:38Speaker 1: the ocean. No cars. No horns. Not somebody rushing off
- 1:44Speaker 1: to work. Just waves over and over again. You grab
- 1:50Speaker 1: your coffee and walk towards the water. Maybe you don't
- 1:53Speaker 1: even say a word. You just stand there and you
- 1:57Speaker 1: watch the waves roll in. That's the kind of peace
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'm talking about. Because sometimes I think we spend too
- 2:05Speaker 1: much of our lives rushing towards the next thing. The
- 2:08Speaker 1: next paycheck. The next promotion. The next bill. The next responsibility.
- 2:15Speaker 1: The next problem. We're always thinking about what's next. And
- 2:20Speaker 1: sometimes we forget to enjoy what's happening right now. That's
- 2:25Speaker 1: why the beach sounds so good to me. Because the
- 2:29Speaker 1: ocean doesn't seem to be in a hurry. The waves
- 2:32Speaker 1: don't care what time it is. The tide doesn't care
- 2:35Speaker 1: about your schedule. The sunset doesn't ask if you're having
- 2:39Speaker 1: a productive day. It just happens. And maybe that's the lesson.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Maybe sometimes we need to stop trying to control every
- 2:47Speaker 1: second of our lives and just sit down and watch
- 2:52Speaker 1: the sun go down. Imagine it's around 730 in the evening.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Temperature is perfect. There's a light breeze coming off the water.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You've had a long day. You walk down to the beach.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You find a spot. You sit down and you look
- 3:09Speaker 1: out and the sky starts changing colors. Blue turns to pink.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Pink turns into orange. Orange starts turning gold. And for
- 3:18Speaker 1: a few minutes, everything slows down. You don't need your phone.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You don't need television. You don't need anything, just the
- 3:27Speaker 1: sound of the waves and the sunset. And maybe Kenny
- 3:32Speaker 1: Chesney playing quietly in the background. There's something about his
- 3:36Speaker 1: songs that make you feel like you're supposed to be
- 3:39Speaker 1: somewhere else. Somewhere warmer. Somewhere simpler. Somewhere where life isn't
- 3:45Speaker 1: measured by how much you accomplish today, but whether you're
- 3:49Speaker 1: stopped long enough to enjoy it. Now let's be real.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Moving to the beach isn't as simple as throwing a
- 3:57Speaker 1: suitcase in the car and saying, See ya! There are bills.
- 4:00Speaker 1: There's work. There's responsibility. There's life. And sometimes dreams have
- 4:05Speaker 1: to wait. And that's okay. Because waiting doesn't mean giving up.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Sometimes waiting means preparing. Maybe the dream is five years away.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Maybe ten. Maybe you don't know exactly when it's going
- 4:20Speaker 1: to happen. But that doesn't mean you can't start building it.
- 4:25Speaker 1: You can save money. You can make plans. You can
- 4:28Speaker 1: get your career where you want it. And you can
- 4:31Speaker 1: figure out where you want to live. And you can
- 4:33Speaker 1: keep that picture in your head. That picture of you
- 4:37Speaker 1: sitting on the beach, watching the sunset with Kenny Chesney
- 4:40Speaker 1: playing in the background. That's your reminder. That's the destination. Ah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: wouldn't that be nice to live at the beach? Someday,
- 4:53Speaker 1: that will definitely happen. But anyhow, I definitely appreciate you
- 4:57Speaker 1: being here. I appreciate you listening. And I hope you
- 5:00Speaker 1: enjoyed this podcast. If so, please leave a comment. And
- 5:03Speaker 1: I will see you all in the next one.
