- 1:17[SPEAKER_04]: I thought about it when tricks he was gone.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_04]: But no, I didn't end up with it.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's been a probably five months, man.

- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: I can use some training.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all of us I could use a little training.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'd like to have a huge smoker.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_04]: There's a guy in my neighborhood as a gigantic smoker He's always smoking meats And they're cool.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they're cool.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't all day long.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: You'll learn him.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's a huge commitment It seems like but it'd be fun a lot of times like you hear guys put them on a four o'clock right yeah, and then we do won't go in all day All day and you can go and do your thing while it's well
- 2:16[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's going, which is appealing.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_04]: I could do that.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'd like to have you try forget about it though.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_04]: Why?
- 2:22[SPEAKER_04]: What are you suggesting?
- 2:25[SPEAKER_03]: Just a thought.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_03]: You're the one who skipped the error.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: It didn't mean to us.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_03]: And done intentional.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_03]: 464, 568, 5 call or text as always, saw some interesting news on Monday.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_03]: At UCLA, it's it's a pretty good time.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_03]: Athletics wise for UCLA with the fact that you know, mid-croner's not the most popular guy, but they made the tournament They want to gamer to the tournament.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just going back to all these chronicles shop for some of these basketball national champs Baseball was number one.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: They have a cup of number one soft balls of tournament.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_03]: They're in a golden era.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_04]: This is fascinating and we didn't think about it
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: And football has not been great, but they got to coach the people are pumped up at Bob Chesney from Cape Madison.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: So things appear to be looking pretty good at UCLA until we learn Monday that the A.D. Martin Germano got fired because this is from the Chancellor of UCLA says,
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: In the letter to the UCLA community, he says, UCLA athletics carries a significant financial deficit and its current path is not sustainable is basically the gist of what he said to the community.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: There has to be a complete change of upper management and universities.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: Where one person is the athletic director.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: And then one person is the TV rev.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, like a CFO, yes, because here's Irracea.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: So before, what did, what did, what did, I'd like for us to do, they looked over teams and they helped coaches and they would help them to talk about, they would do all these things inside, they got to know the players.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_04]: They were loose with that guy.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all those things, that isn't existing more.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: They want one thing.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: How are you gonna build revenue?
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: I want a TV guy in here.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: And this guy has no idea about what it looks like when he goes to a basketball practice.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: or to a football practice or really from the inside.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's just like, no, I don't care what you think of our coaches.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you need to be a CFO slash attorney.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, CFO slash attorney.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Jarma, I mean, how many times did 80 been fired for fundraising?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_04]: Well, here's the deal.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_04]: You're always looking.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_04]: for the essence of a story, in this ESPN story, it's just one line in here, but UCLA's athletic department deficit was reduced to 21.6 million for the 2025 fiscal year.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_04]: So it was reduced to 21.6 million.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: What if they were running an operation over here?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_04]: That was 21.6 million in the whole.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_04]: Because everything else looks pretty good.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_04]: Well, right in the context of their immense success and athletic department, your fire and athletic director, it builds right.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_04]: He just didn't know what he was doing in terms of finance and I would easy
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to call time out on that.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_04]: OK. You got to say hold it.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to say hold it.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then I say an easy guy like you said something stupid.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: But because you didn't.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: But my point of it is, hold it.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm going to go hold it on this one.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: He probably knew he may have done exactly what he's doing.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: And things were just that backwards there.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: OK.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: It could have been a deal where it's like.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: So it's because where's the good hold it?
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: Where's this?
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: You see, I go back again.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: Is it Germans fault?
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe no one comes to a game.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they can't.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: They get 20,000 people into the Rose Bowl.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_04]: Now the only pushback I'd say is they fired him, they fired him.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's fine.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: I go and great, but I'm sometimes I'm going, well, you got to raise more money and he was the guy to raise more money.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of like, I wasn't raised to be a higher to be a total just fundraiser.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that wasn't what I was supposed to hear.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_04]: I appreciate you giving him a level of grace.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't look at the money, it's a pretty good looking organization.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_03]: He's lined up at UCLA.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like he hired a very good football coach.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_04]: But it looks like it.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, got crowned.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: They got the, it appears as if they hired the best person available to think of the they could have got it.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think they might be going to go hold in now, how do we get, how do we get Chesney?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is unbelievable.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: We have Chesney here.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: This is pretty cool.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: You've almost, you've almost convinced me that Charmond is a sympathetic figure.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: You've almost got me on this.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't know it.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was everything that said agreed just prior to him like this guy.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, we've never heard of it all.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: This was out of the blue.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just did, did, did, I course get fired because financially he did.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was at the case that did Moose get fired because it was just a financial nightmare.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: Moose is get fired.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: What's that?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: It was at a Freudian slip of it.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_04]: I course, we know that all about that.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm thinking about I course right now.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_04]: I course is a guy that would fancy himself as someone who could tutor athletes.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_04]: He's not just a CFO.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_04]: He's not just a CFO slash attorney.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_04]: He goes to practices, I think he, at least he fancies himself as someone who can mentor coaches and student athletes, Moose was certainly like that, but what you're suggesting is that has become secondary in this new world too.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's completely secondary to what, if you go back to what, you know, the 80s of the past in Nebraska were doing with their, Bob DeVanius doing with the guys were, what their role was at that time and how their role has changed.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: Where do you?
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm a foot surgeon, benefit surgeon.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to do that.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll tell you what next month you're going to go into that heart surgery.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's you're going to go ahead and move into just that.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: Try that one out.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of what it's like.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to try that harder.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm involved.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Try that artery.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little crude.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: Is that an A order we're looking at there?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: I get so.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: I got one more quick.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, please.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think that.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Please.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: So, in 2023, is when Tony Petiti was hired as Commissioner of the Big 10.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: There were 16 teams and he went to 18 yet, 16.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: Of those 16 only four remain, 25%.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's all that's still here from 2023 from the from 16 and it's it's coil at Minnesota Also Indiana craft at Penn State in Whitman in Illinois.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_04]: Wow So talk about a job that is incredible that is incredibly difficult.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: I have to think about that
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, all of a sudden, it's like from 2023.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's just three years ago.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, also, even the new ones that were added, right?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: There'd that'd be, that'd be different with Washington, isn't the same, is when they join the league.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: Get that.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: Oregon, I assume, is.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: Top 10.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: Martin, Jarmon, sympathetic figure.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: Buyer did, by the steel aid.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_03]: When we come back, the mailbag and song of the day is next on early break in the tech world.
