- Lucas: Hej hej, och välkommen tillbaka till Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. We're so happy you're here with us again. Lucas: Today we're going to do something a little different from our last few trips to the store. Luna: Oh, are we going somewhere new? A bakery? A café? Lucas: Close, but not quite. Today we're heading to the pharmacy. Apoteket. Luna: The pharmacy. That's useful. I hope nobody is sick, though. Lucas: No, no. We're just picking up a few essentials. And today's essential is a thermometer. Termometer. Luna: Termometer. That sounds a lot like the English word. Is it that easy? Lucas: Yes, it's a cognate. So you already know one Swedish word. But let's learn how to ask for one. Lucas: Listen: Jag skulle vilja ha en termometer. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en termometer. Lucas: That means 'I would like a thermometer.' We've used 'Jag skulle vilja ha' before, right? When buying a coat, a hat, a backpack... Luna: Oh yes. 'Jag skulle vilja ha en vinterjacka.' That was episode 207. Lucas: Exactly. So you already know half the phrase. Now just add 'en termometer' at the end. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en termometer. I can do that. Lucas: You did it. Now, at the pharmacy, you might see different types. Let's ask for a digital one. Har ni en digital termometer? Luna: Har ni en digital termometer? That's 'do you have a digital thermometer?' Lucas: Yes. And 'digital' is the same in Swedish. Just say it with a Swedish accent. Luna: Digital termometer. Digital termometer. I like it. Lucas: Now, the pharmacist might show you a couple. You can ask: Får jag titta på den här? Luna: Får jag titta på den här? That's 'can I look at this one?' Lucas: Exactly. You know 'titta' from our nature walk episode. Titta på fåglarna. Luna: Oh right. Titta. Look. Får jag titta på den här? Can I look at this one? Lucas: Perfect. And then, of course, you want to know the price. Hur mycket kostar den här? Luna: Hur mycket kostar den här? How much does this cost? Lucas: Yes. And when you're ready to buy, you say: Jag tar den här, tack. Luna: Jag tar den här, tack. I'll take this one, thanks. Lucas: Let's do a quick scene. You're at the pharmacy counter. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en termometer. Lucas: Har ni en digital termometer? Luna: Ja, här är en. Lucas: Får jag titta på den här? Luna: Ja, visst. Lucas: Hur mycket kostar den här? Luna: Den kostar två hundra kronor. Lucas: Jag tar den här, tack. Luna: Great, I feel ready for a pharmacy visit now. Lucas: And maybe it's not a bad idea to have a thermometer at home, especially during the colder months. Luna: True. But I hope we don't have to use it too soon. Lucas: Let's review the phrases one more time. Lucas: You're a natural, Luna. Luna: Thanks. You know, it's funny that we're talking about checking temperatures. I remember when I was learning, checking my progress with Fexingo felt like taking my own temperature, you know? Seeing how much I've improved, feeling my understanding go up. Just remember: Jag skulle vilja ha en termometer. Luna: And maybe you'll even pick up a digital one. Har ni en digital termometer? Lucas: There you go.
