- 0:00Speaker 1: The band Catatonia. So do you want to tell the
- 0:02Speaker 1: good listeners here at Heavy a little bit about what
- 0:05Speaker 1: you guys have got coming up and what's been happening?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so what we have lined up at the moment
- 0:11Speaker 2: is a nice tour coming to Japan, New Zealand and Australia,
- 0:18Speaker 2: of course.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Nice.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And, yeah, it's something that we're really looking forward to
- 0:23Speaker 2: and it's always great to be back down under.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's pretty much what's lined up. And we
- 0:32Speaker 2: just got from playing in Dalhalla together with Opeth and
- 0:37Speaker 2: Candlemass here in Sweden as well. Last weekend. Which is
- 0:42Speaker 2: kind of like a milestone for us because... If anyone
- 0:47Speaker 2: out there that knows Red Rocks in the States, it's
- 0:51Speaker 2: a majestic amphitheater kind of venue. It's Sweden's answer to that.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So it's a really cool place up in Dalarna in Sweden.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Oh, that's impressive. Like a natural amphitheater, is it?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. It's where they are... have been harvesting chalk,
- 1:14Speaker 2: I think, back in the day. Oh, okay. Deep down
- 1:18Speaker 2: in this pit. So it was a really cool experience
- 1:21Speaker 2: this past Saturday.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's exciting. Yeah, I interviewed the guys from
- 1:27Speaker 1: Candlemas not so long back, so I am familiar with them.
- 1:31Speaker 1: That's awesome. And Opeth, did you say you got to
- 1:33Speaker 1: play with as well? That's really cool.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Longtime friends of the band. Yeah. Yeah, Jonas
- 1:40Speaker 2: and Michael, they go way back. Yeah, yeah. Like the
- 1:45Speaker 2: early years and when they were kids. So, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It's cool to do these collaborations.
- 1:50Speaker 1: For sure. No, they've done quite well for themselves and
- 1:54Speaker 1: they're getting quite to be the common name, which is
- 1:57Speaker 1: really nice to see when heavy metal starts to sneak
- 2:01Speaker 1: into a bit of the mainstream or you hear them
- 2:02Speaker 1: enough that you know who they are. That's very cool.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And so yourself, you're based in Sweden, is that right?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. We're based in Stockholm. Oh, nice.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And what's the weather like over there at
- 2:16Speaker 1: the moment? Is it your summertime or coming into your autumn,
- 2:19Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's coming into the autumn. It's been, we have
- 2:24Speaker 2: had quite a few hot days during the summer, but
- 2:27Speaker 2: now it's cooling down and you start to see the
- 2:32Speaker 2: colors changing in the trees. I was out walking yesterday
- 2:36Speaker 2: and you can see it's more turning yellow and soon
- 2:40Speaker 2: a little bit red, I think. Oh, lovely. Yeah, it's
- 2:43Speaker 2: very beautiful.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I know that the landscape changes quite dramatically in
- 2:49Speaker 1: parts of Europe, which is we don't get that so
- 2:51Speaker 1: much here. It's beautiful weather, mind you, but, yeah, not
- 2:54Speaker 1: that stark change, which is always quite nice. And I
- 2:58Speaker 1: can just imagine a massive medal fest in summertime over there.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It would be awesome. It would be very much good
- 3:05Speaker 1: times for the arts. For the scenery as well as
- 3:07Speaker 1: the experience.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're coming out. When do you guys come out?
- 3:14Speaker 1: In October, is that right?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Exactly. So it's like in the second week of October. Wow,
- 3:21Speaker 2: that's coming up. Excellent.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And so where do you kick off the tour? Are
- 3:25Speaker 1: you starting in Australia or starting in Japan?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so first we're doing Japan. We're doing Osaka and Tokyo.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And then we're, uh, then we're going further to Auckland, uh, where,
- 3:40Speaker 2: where we are in New Zealand, where we also have, have,
- 3:44Speaker 2: have a day off, which I'm really looking forward to.
- 3:47Speaker 2: We're going, I think we're going to try to go
- 3:49Speaker 2: to some, uh, some special, special sites too.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Nice.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Again, New Zealand is very pretty. Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Because last time we were there, it was like 2010.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We did this snow. No Sleep Till tour together with
- 4:07Speaker 2: War Megadeth and a few NoFX and lots of other bands.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That would be awesome.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and then I only had time to run to
- 4:18Speaker 2: a Maccas to grab some lunch. It was horrible.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Oh, I know, isn't it? I hate when it's the
- 4:26Speaker 1: only thing that's available. But, you know, they say that
- 4:28Speaker 1: Maccas is different, you know, around the globe. So our Maccas.
- 4:33Speaker 1: probably different to yours or and i i know actually
- 4:36Speaker 1: japan's um mcdonald's is they've got it's actually quite quite
- 4:39Speaker 1: tasty looks way better than ours so yeah but.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Then we're finally touching down in australia on the 7th
- 4:47Speaker 2: of october i believe in brisbane.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah so he's kicking off in brisbane that's my uh
- 4:52Speaker 1: closest um capital city is brisbane not far from there
- 4:56Speaker 1: so yeah okay cool and so who are you um
- 4:59Speaker 1: playing with on the lineup who are your supports what.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Uh, we have, uh, multiple supports. I'm so bad at
- 5:06Speaker 2: remembering names, but, uh, but I think, I think, I
- 5:08Speaker 2: think there are, uh, I think, I think it's changing
- 5:11Speaker 2: through like all the, all the dates. So it's kind
- 5:14Speaker 2: of like, uh, I don't know if it's like local
- 5:18Speaker 2: support per se, or if they travel in for the,
- 5:21Speaker 2: for the shows, but, uh, a.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Lot of the promoters, um, get the local bands to do, um,
- 5:26Speaker 1: the supports, which is really cool. And like you say,
- 5:28Speaker 1: it changes on the tour, which is, uh, It's a
- 5:31Speaker 1: really good platform for some of these guys to get
- 5:34Speaker 1: known and get out there, which I really enjoy seeing those.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. And I mean, I think on one of
- 5:42Speaker 2: our Australian tours, we even had Voyager as support act
- 5:48Speaker 2: in Perth, which was really cool. That's very cool. Which
- 5:53Speaker 2: then made it over to Europe to do the Eurovision.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, nice, nice. We are... We were very lucky to have,
- 6:01Speaker 1: we had our NecroSonic Festival card about two weeks ago
- 6:04Speaker 1: and Rivers of Nile came over to headline that, which
- 6:07Speaker 1: was very cool. So I was very happy to see those.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I'm not sure whether they did, I should know, whether
- 6:13Speaker 1: they did other shows or it was just a once-off. But, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: so it's nice when you get to meet up with
- 6:17Speaker 1: other bands when they're doing things like that. It's good.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Definitely. And we had Rivers of Nile, we had them
- 6:24Speaker 2: as support in the States. Ah, wow. On our, because
- 6:28Speaker 2: we were... I think, I believe six, was it six
- 6:31Speaker 2: or seven weeks in the States in the beginning of
- 6:33Speaker 2: the year. First we were supporting Opeth through the first three,
- 6:39Speaker 2: three and a half, and then we met up with
- 6:42Speaker 2: Rivers of Neil and they supported us on three.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, aren't they amazing?
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yeah, they're cool.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Saxophone and heavy metal. I had a grin from ear
- 6:52Speaker 1: to ear because I was, and I love not knowing
- 6:55Speaker 1: sometimes what bands are like and what they are all
- 6:58Speaker 1: about because it just I was so thoroughly, genuinely pleased
- 7:02Speaker 1: and just gave the poor guy a big hug on
- 7:04Speaker 1: all sides. I went, that was amazing. You made my
- 7:06Speaker 1: whole day. It was awesome.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's cool.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Thank Angelou's band. Yeah, and look, their music too. Like,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you know, listen to some of their tracks. It's quite
- 7:16Speaker 1: melodic as well. You know, like it's obviously heavy, but
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's really quite nice. Good listening. Very much good listening.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm an old saxophone player myself.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Oh, there you go.
- 7:27Speaker 2: That's my first instrument.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Masquerading as a bass player. Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So I went from saxophone and then I got into
- 7:35Speaker 2: heavy metal. Then I wanted to be a guitar player.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And then I noticed that I enjoy playing bass most
- 7:43Speaker 2: because back in the day, my best friends, they were drummers.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So it was cool to be a little bit closer
- 7:51Speaker 2: to them and do something, hold them. For sure. Hold
- 7:55Speaker 2: the beat down and create the foundation of the band.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That's it.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I play bass myself and I always say, well,
- 8:02Speaker 1: the reason your girlfriend dances. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:05Speaker 2: And when we play bass solos, they up the sales
- 8:08Speaker 2: in the bar. yeah they go and buy beer when
- 8:18Speaker 2: we're so low.
- 8:19Speaker 1: True you know the best bass riffs are simple it's
- 8:21Speaker 1: the easiest they're three chords you know it's um there's
- 8:24Speaker 1: nothing complicated we'll leave that to the likes of um
- 8:27Speaker 1: les claypool and flea thanks oh i just have least
- 8:30Speaker 1: film my brother was a drummer so that's why i'm
- 8:34Speaker 1: the same but i was a dancer as well so
- 8:36Speaker 1: that rhythm section is was always naturally in me i
- 8:39Speaker 1: um taught myself how to play and didn't know what
- 8:42Speaker 1: the hell I was doing, but I had the rhythm
- 8:43Speaker 1: down part, so apparently that's not easy to do. So
- 8:46Speaker 1: I just went with it.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Perfect.
- 8:49Speaker 1: But, yeah, no, but it's funny. Like I see some
- 8:51Speaker 1: of those, I'm like, like they hit a six-string bass.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm like, that's wild. And just the gauges are so heavy.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And I remember my first one I had to get
- 9:01Speaker 1: ultralight Elixir strings because my little fingers couldn't, like, push
- 9:04Speaker 1: the strings down to get a noise.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So, yeah, I don't know if I'll ever make that. Sorry.
- 9:13Speaker 2: It's a good starting point.
- 9:15Speaker 1: It is. It was very, very much. And I giggle
- 9:18Speaker 1: at that, but it's kind of cool to see you progression,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but I don't think I'll ever. I certainly don't have
- 9:22Speaker 1: aim for a five or six string and heavy gauge.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I'm happy where I'm at in the middle range.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Sounds good. I've been doing four string basses for
- 9:33Speaker 2: many years. I went from five string and then I've
- 9:41Speaker 2: been playing four strings for quite many years. But now
- 9:44Speaker 2: I'm back at five string basses because it makes sense sometimes.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And I play Strandbergs nowadays with the fan frets where
- 9:54Speaker 2: they kind of look like windshield wipers.
- 9:58Speaker 1: The, the, the, i know some of the faces are
- 10:02Speaker 1: wild like the destroyers and the flying v's they're just
- 10:05Speaker 1: like got angles on a little broken eye out if
- 10:07Speaker 1: you're not careful it's crazy yeah but um yeah no sorry.
- 10:13Speaker 2: What was that you have to be cautious.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yes definitely definitely I remember, like, I mean, playing in
- 10:19Speaker 1: Drop D, like a step down, like that's always fun.
- 10:21Speaker 1: But I was playing with some people in Drop C
- 10:24Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, that's tasty. It was really good.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I did enjoy that a lot.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 10:30Speaker 1: So it's actually fun. Is there any plans to incorporate
- 10:33Speaker 1: that into Takeda Toney and what music that you guys
- 10:35Speaker 1: are doing? Or are you just going to leave that
- 10:37Speaker 1: to the experts of the guys at Riverside?
- 10:41Speaker 2: I think we're going to leave that to reverse voice, actually.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, they've done it well. It's definitely so left to feel,
- 10:47Speaker 1: but I absolutely love that kind of stuff when it
- 10:49Speaker 1: comes to music, especially metal. Metal is kind of the
- 10:52Speaker 1: cool thing. You see it mixed with different genres and
- 10:55Speaker 1: different things like that, and it just works. I don't
- 10:57Speaker 1: know why. It never fails.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and it would take years for me to get
- 11:06Speaker 2: the technique up again and play well on the saxophone.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's quite a lot, isn't it? My girlfriend plays saxophone.
- 11:13Speaker 1: She's only small, and I'm like, there's some big lungs. Yeah. Yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 1: because there's quite a lot of effort, isn't it, to
- 11:19Speaker 1: get that sustaining sound that doesn't sound like a cat's
- 11:22Speaker 1: being murdered?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Definitely. And I came home a few years back from
- 11:28Speaker 2: the pub, a little bit tipsy, and I tried to
- 11:30Speaker 2: play my saxophone here at home, and I think I
- 11:33Speaker 2: kind of broke it while I was trying. Oh, no.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Yes. Oh, you've got to be careful. The splinters in
- 11:40Speaker 1: your tongue from the bamboo reeds, I've heard that happen before,
- 11:43Speaker 1: which is not fun.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it has to be.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Last time I come home drunk from the pub
- 11:48Speaker 1: to play an instrument, my mate had a double bass,
- 11:51Speaker 1: which was very cool. And I managed to– I didn't
- 11:55Speaker 1: exactly spin it around, but I did get a sound
- 11:57Speaker 1: out of it. So I was impressed with that. But, yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 1: those things are huge.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and tough to play as well.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're fretless. But surprisingly, it's just the same
- 12:07Speaker 1: as playing the bass guitar, but it's just different angles.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and the string height is crazy as well.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, it is. Hey, yeah, it's so true.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Pushing down hard. Yes, yes.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And it makes you wonder, like, why are they not amplified?
- 12:24Speaker 1: You know, they rarely do you see them amplified because
- 12:27Speaker 1: I guess they're probably, the idea is to be part
- 12:30Speaker 1: of a symphony orchestra, so they don't want to. blaring
- 12:32Speaker 1: out the rest of the band.
- 12:35Speaker 2: But, yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So you guys have got new music coming out with
- 12:37Speaker 1: your tour?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we're coming to, like, supporting our latest record, Nightmares
- 12:46Speaker 2: as Extensions of the Waking State. It's kind of a
- 12:49Speaker 2: tongue twister. It is. Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It was released last year.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Okay, yeah. Yeah, so we're still, like, doing tours to
- 12:59Speaker 2: support that one which we're really excited about yeah yeah
- 13:03Speaker 2: that's awesome yeah and I hope people down under like
- 13:07Speaker 2: it yeah yeah well you've got to enjoy the songs.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah we've definitely got a bit of a strong
- 13:13Speaker 1: following down here which is always good otherwise it's not
- 13:16Speaker 1: viable to come back and do you um have you
- 13:18Speaker 1: seen like over the time like your audience has changed
- 13:20Speaker 1: and like younger people come through and start to enjoy
- 13:22Speaker 1: it as well and obviously your original OG fans that you've.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Got yeah I think Catatonia always has a mixed crowd.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It's people ranging from the age limit for the shows
- 13:38Speaker 2: up until like 70, 80 years old. Isn't that awesome?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really cool.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah. It's a big variety and a lovely mix of people.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's definitely the case. I remember going to
- 13:59Speaker 1: review Behemoth and it was exactly that. And there was
- 14:03Speaker 1: like this older gentleman and he was probably like in
- 14:06Speaker 1: his 70s, 80s, and he was having the time of
- 14:08Speaker 1: his life and the crowd was just lovely people and
- 14:11Speaker 1: it was one of my all-time favourite gigs ever I've
- 14:14Speaker 1: been to. So very happy to have experienced that. And, again,
- 14:19Speaker 1: another great, amazing band. But, yeah, like you say, the
- 14:23Speaker 1: mix of people and ages is really cool. Metal kind
- 14:26Speaker 1: of does that. It seems to be standard across the board.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. I think, like, music shows in general and
- 14:37Speaker 2: not only metal music but, like, performances and concerts, they
- 14:43Speaker 2: bring all ages. Like, it's like a meeting of bands.
- 14:47Speaker 2: But both generations and cultures.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Community. Yeah, people who might not, like, be, you know,
- 14:56Speaker 2: have the same kind of values or, like, ideals. Lifestyle.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 2: They meet and they find common ground, which I think
- 15:08Speaker 2: is really cool.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It is very special. Music is the connector of a
- 15:14Speaker 1: lot of amazing and beautiful It's their universal language, isn't it?
- 15:19Speaker 1: And it just brings people together from all walks of life. And, yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 1: you might not necessarily, you know, meet in any other setting,
- 15:27Speaker 1: but music, the one thing, the common ground, and it
- 15:31Speaker 1: is a really beautiful thing to see. And it never
- 15:35Speaker 1: fails to hit the soft spots with me. I really
- 15:38Speaker 1: enjoy it. Yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and I sometimes think that sports do the– direct
- 15:46Speaker 2: opposite people who are friends outside the arena they become
- 15:50Speaker 2: enemies and they get it at each other's neck because
- 15:54Speaker 2: it's not it's not the right yeah it's not the
- 15:58Speaker 2: right color of the shirt you know.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah but you're not going.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah yeah but music it can be the other way
- 16:06Speaker 2: around like outside the arena they might be you know
- 16:09Speaker 2: not not the best best of mates but like inside
- 16:12Speaker 2: if they have a beer and they listen to the
- 16:13Speaker 2: music together it might.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah you know Great friendships formed over a common, you know,
- 16:21Speaker 1: interest in the same music or band, which is always
- 16:24Speaker 1: really cool. But it's crazy to think like sporting, like
- 16:28Speaker 1: it's a really, that's a great analogy. You know, I mean,
- 16:31Speaker 1: look at the extremes of that where you've got countries,
- 16:34Speaker 1: you know, like that are fanatical about like soccer, particularly
- 16:37Speaker 1: in Europe. You know, they unalive one another because they
- 16:41Speaker 1: just follow a different, their opposing team, which is just insane.
- 16:45Speaker 1: And when music, it's like, even if you play different
- 16:48Speaker 1: types of music, the fact that you can, the willingness
- 16:51Speaker 1: to come together and make something even better and different is, yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 1: it speaks for itself, doesn't it?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. I've heard so many times like people saying, oh,
- 17:02Speaker 2: that bloke or that girl is such a sweet person,
- 17:05Speaker 2: but they root for this team. So I can't get
- 17:09Speaker 2: past that.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It's crazy, isn't it?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I mean, I enjoyed playing sports when I was younger
- 17:16Speaker 1: and whatnot, but I just don't, give me a bar
- 17:19Speaker 1: any day with the live band. I don't watch them
- 17:22Speaker 1: or spectate anymore, but I definitely enjoyed playing them. You know,
- 17:26Speaker 1: when I was younger, I get too injured these days
- 17:29Speaker 1: to do anything like that. But yeah, I just, even
- 17:32Speaker 1: having that competitive nature, it's still all about, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 1: that community and like-minded people. But some people would really do,
- 17:38Speaker 1: don't they? They just, they take it.
- 17:40Speaker 2: So far and, I remember this thing, it was in
- 17:49Speaker 2: one of the biggest magazines here, like news magazines in Sweden,
- 17:52Speaker 2: and they do five quick questions to people out and about,
- 17:57Speaker 2: and they asked a bunch of people, including this, I
- 18:01Speaker 2: think he was 15 years old or something, like a guy,
- 18:05Speaker 2: and they're like, are you going to follow the World
- 18:08Speaker 2: Cup this summer? And he said, no, I listen to
- 18:11Speaker 2: Heather Meadow.
- 18:13Speaker 1: What a great answer. His parents raised him well, that's
- 18:16Speaker 1: for sure.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yep. Yes, yes.
- 18:18Speaker 1: So I've tried to do the same with my girls.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I've got two girls who are millennials now, as I
- 18:23Speaker 1: call them, and, you know, mini metal heads, maybe not
- 18:26Speaker 1: so much, but they love their country music. And I'm like,
- 18:28Speaker 1: it's making a comeback apparently. So they're having fun and
- 18:33Speaker 1: they're enjoying it. But they were ballerinas when they were young, so.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think that kind of gives you, yeah, it gives you, well,
- 18:38Speaker 1: for me as well, that, you know, it exposes you
- 18:42Speaker 1: to classical kind of music that never would have, you know,
- 18:45Speaker 1: known or been a part of or be able to
- 18:48Speaker 1: connect with otherwise. So, yeah, the best musicians take this inspiration,
- 18:53Speaker 1: you know, from all types of music, which is great,
- 18:56Speaker 1: and I really enjoy that too. So, yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm happy to have a hoedown at a country muster.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I reckon it would be. a few beers later and
- 19:07Speaker 1: it's all fun and games.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I listen to all kind of music.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Everything from country music to pop music.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yeah, a good song is a good song. That's what
- 19:21Speaker 1: I always say. It makes you feel good and if
- 19:24Speaker 1: it's timeless as well, which there's a lot of, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: they call them one hit wonders, but they're still good songs.
- 19:29Speaker 1: You can't deny that.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's funny, I always say too, like the
- 19:35Speaker 1: There's music that I might enjoy listening to is completely
- 19:38Speaker 1: different to the stuff that I enjoy playing on my bass.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So that's always, that's one thing that I've come to discover,
- 19:46Speaker 1: which is kind of cool too. So it just keeps it,
- 19:48Speaker 1: keeps it fresh. That's for sure.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's true um and inspired as well yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah yeah definitely and it's funny like I um some
- 19:57Speaker 1: of my favorite stuff to listen to playing on the
- 19:59Speaker 1: bass it just there was just and not that there's
- 20:02Speaker 1: nothing there but it just yeah it didn't hit the
- 20:04Speaker 1: same way as other songs that you know I um
- 20:08Speaker 1: enjoy listening to but to play as well was like
- 20:11Speaker 1: like i've never owned a chili peppers album in my
- 20:13Speaker 1: life but i can slap that thing to most of
- 20:16Speaker 1: them not to the same extent that i can but
- 20:19Speaker 1: you know and i find it quite enjoyable so and
- 20:22Speaker 1: at the doors you know is another one which kind
- 20:24Speaker 1: of interest um took me by surprise so yeah it's
- 20:27Speaker 1: just um it's all it's all about what makes the
- 20:29Speaker 1: noise and the good people happy so yeah i'm very
- 20:33Speaker 1: much looking forward to having you guys come out in
- 20:36Speaker 1: gosh it October is like, it's not even, it's less
- 20:38Speaker 1: than a month away now, isn't it? Because we're now
- 20:40Speaker 1: in September. The year's just gone. It's crazy.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Time flies.
- 20:45Speaker 1: It does. And when you're busy, and we've been so busy,
- 20:47Speaker 1: which is a good thing because when we're busy, live
- 20:50Speaker 1: music is definitely thriving. So newish kind of music and
- 20:55Speaker 1: a tour to happen as well. We very much look
- 20:58Speaker 1: forward to catching you guys when you get down here.
- 21:01Speaker 1: And thank you so much for coming and having a

- 21:11Speaker 1: and hope Japan goes well. And you kick it off
- 21:15Speaker 1: from Brisneyland, as we call it.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Brisneyland.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Brisneyland, yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Brisneyland, okay.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Cool. That's new for me.
- 21:24Speaker 1: There you go. It's good. People always call it Bris-Vegas,
- 21:27Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, Brisneyland.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Bris-Vegas. Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I love Brisbane. It's a good city. It's where it's, yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Good people, good music, and it's good community, good culture. So, yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 1: good place to start. What's the venue that you're playing at, Brisbane?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Do you know off the top of your head? Is
- 21:42Speaker 1: it the Tivoli or?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Good question, good question. I'm going to leave that as
- 21:48Speaker 2: a surprise for myself.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I'll have to look at my email when I get
- 21:54Speaker 1: off the call. No, that's fine. Thank you so much. And, yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 1: we look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yeah, looking forward. Yeah, likewise. Enjoy.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Bye-bye.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Bye-bye.
