- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey, last episode we were at the bus stop, asking when the bus comes. Lucas: Right. Today, let's talk about something that comes up a lot — asking for help. Luna: Oh, I definitely need that one. I'm always getting lost. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with a simple one: '¿Puedes ayudarme?' It means 'Can you help me?' Lucas: Repeat after me: ¿Puedes ayudarme? Luna: ¿Puedes ayudarme? Lucas: Perfect. Now try saying it a bit slower: ¿Pue-des a yu dar me? Luna: ¿Puedes ayudarme? Lucas: Great. So if you're in a store and you can't find something, you could say '¿Puedes ayudarme? Busco leche.' Luna: Oh, 'I'm looking for milk.' So '¿Puedes ayudarme? Busco leche.' Lucas: Exactly. Now another key phrase: 'Necesito ayuda.' — 'I need help.' Lucas: Say it with me: Necesito ayuda. Luna: Necesito ayuda. Lucas: Good. This one is a bit more direct. You might use it if you're lost and need assistance. Luna: So 'Necesito ayuda, estoy perdido.' Lucas: Right. 'I need help, I'm lost.' Let's practice a quick scene. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: You're in a park, and you can't find the exit. You see someone. What do you say? Luna: Hmm... '¿Puedes ayudarme? Estoy perdida.' Lucas: Perfect. That's exactly right. And they might ask '¿Adónde quieres ir?' — 'Where do you want to go?' Luna: Oh, that's useful. So I could say 'Quiero ir a la salida.' Lucas: Yes. Now another polite way: '¿Me ayudas, por favor?' — 'Will you help me, please?' Lucas: Try it: ¿Me ayudas, por favor? Luna: ¿Me ayudas, por favor? Lucas: Very nice. That's a bit more friendly, like asking someone to lend a hand. Luna: I like that one. It feels softer. Lucas: And after they help you, you say 'Gracias por tu ayuda.' — 'Thanks for your help.' Lucas: Repeat: Gracias por tu ayuda. Luna: Gracias por tu ayuda. Lucas: Good. Let's put it all together in a short dialogue. Luna: Sure. Lucas: You're at a train station and you don't know which platform. You ask someone: '¿Puedes ayudarme?' Luna: ¿Puedes ayudarme? Necesito ayuda. ¿Cuál es el andén? Lucas: They say 'El andén dos.' You say 'Gracias por tu ayuda.' Luna: Gracias por tu ayuda. Lucas: Perfect. You just asked for help and thanked them.
