- 0:00SPEAKER_00: The three things in life that I find to be the most important successful life, something that you can look at somebody's life and you can say, you know what, they they're actually doing very well.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Three things, and these are the three tenets I hold most dear.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Pray without ceasing.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: That's biblical, it's from there.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Pray without ceasing.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Love your neighbor as yourself.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Again, have that respect for everyone else above and beyond respect for yourself.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And again, finally, we're going to get into always, if you're lifting weights, which you should, always take it to failure.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Every set, every rep in that set, once you get through it, you definitely want to take an end to failure.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: You want to push yourself that hard.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, praying without ceasing, that's biblical.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So if you're a Christian or any of the other ones out there, this is something that you should always do.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: You have a higher power, well, stay in contact with them through prayer, talking to them throughout the day.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And of course, you know, you don't have to get crazy with it, but at the end of the day, it is really good that you have that connection to something that's bigger than you.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And the second thing, the always loving your neighbor above and beyond yourself, that's kind of back to the golden rule.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Treat people how you would like to be treated.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And when you do that, you extend yourself in that regard to everybody you come across in life, including the people that you might have an adversarial relationship with, it's really going to pay off.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, finally, the failure thing when it comes to working out, hugely important.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: In fact, those are where the best gains are made, be it those I'm training friends or family or whomever.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: But I do find that going to failure every single set is really the payoff.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: It's going to cause the most damage for the muscle, and it's also going to cause that much muscle to respond in great strides from where it potentially was.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Now I'll go to the gym, and maybe you see this.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: People are given a workout regimen, maybe three exercises per body part, maybe three sets per exercise, maybe anywhere from eight to twelve repetitions.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: That's what the trainer tells them.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: So they write this out, they get to the gym, and then they start pushing the metal.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Pulling on the pulleys, lifting the dumbbells, whatever it may be for that particular exercise, however, it's executed.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And what they do is then they'll go to that eight to twelve reps, and they'll get to twelve, and then they'll stop.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Now, there's a lot of credence given to people that have the journal, the weight the weight lifting journal, so they have the notes there, so they know where to start out next time.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: So there's not that wasted time trying to think, well, is a 30-pound dumbbell good, or did I do a 20-pound last time, or should I do more?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: So you know where you're falling in that rep range.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: But instead of doing the eight reps or the twelve reps and then stopping, get to double digits, whatever it may be.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And this is kind of a good rule of thumb for most everyone.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And of course, before you do anything, seek your doctor's advice, medical advice, before you embark on any kind of a fitness journey or even going to the gym for the first time.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: But after you've done that, and I'm sure they're gonna say yes, please, as soon as you've done that, get to double digits and then go to failure.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Always, every set, from the beginning to the end.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Have a nice warm-up.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: You don't want to start going to failure without your muscles being warm, tendons and ligaments and joints being warm.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: But after you get past that, push.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Get to failure and then go more.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Go to failure each and every set.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: So don't worry about the number.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Just get to double digits.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: You can work that weight at least 10 times and then go to failure.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: If that's going to take you to get to 20 or 25, then you might want to increase that weight.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: So next time you get to double digits, you go to failure.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Failure might be within two to three to five to six reps.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: That's a good rule of thumb.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: But always and completely go to failure each and every time.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: So those are the three tenets that really have helped me build my life to where it is and continue to build it in the best possible way.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Pray without ceasing.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Love your neighbor as yourself, and finally, take every set to failure.
