  [SPEAKER_00]: up until this point leading up to the draft and we're a week away from the Jaguar's first draft selection at 56 overall.

  [SPEAKER_00]: For now, as James Gladstone will tell you, the Jaguars they might be aggressive to move up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That is part of the fun of kind of following along with this football team over the last year plus.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I did want to offer some reactions to the hunt.

  [SPEAKER_00]: First reaction is, it's just an amazing production.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's media team has always done a tremendous job with the hunt, has gotten better and better and better.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And part of the reason, beyond just like them leveling up, the media team,

  [SPEAKER_00]: that has gotten better is James Ladsdone, Liam Cohen, unprecedented access compared to what we've seen in Jacksonville before those guys getting here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Ladsdone made a comment very early on in a press conference from

  [SPEAKER_00]: like last year, right after you got hired, where they want to offer as much as they can to fans, as much access as they can to fans without giving themselves a competitive disadvantage and boy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That has absolutely been the case so far.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So Kudos to them for that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this was a behind-the-scenes look at the draft process, like we've never seen in Jacksonville.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar staff, the way they kind of scout, I think for free agency and the draft,

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's, first off, the staff has no clue what James Gladstone thinks about these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's not offering his opinions because they believe the Jaguars that if James Gladstone says he loves this player or doesn't like this player, that's going to inherently just impact

  [SPEAKER_00]: of a different scout, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Because Gladstone's a top dog, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So,

  [SPEAKER_00]: They believe having an unbiased approach to scouting for your staff is the proper way to get things done.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's a really cool way to do it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, these guys don't know what James Lads don't think about these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They might have an idea based on working with him for a long time, what he's looking for, what he likes, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: But like, when this scouting staff is offering their reports, their analysis,

  [SPEAKER_00]: they don't know James's thoughts on these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's really cool.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They also going into it don't know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're not communicating about the staff is not communicating about these reports, about these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Scouts will be assigned 15 wide receivers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have a week to do it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're not communicating about this until their reports are done.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're not looking at the other person's reports until their reports are done.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's fascinating.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They also have just a wildly advanced, basically scouting communication,

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's been with the Rams start in 2014.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was on the show a lot last night kind of breaking it down for the fans and also breaking it down for the actual scouting stuff like how all this stuff works.

  [SPEAKER_00]: tape with communication with advanced analytics.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And this isn't one of the things I put down.

  [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the reason they do not value the combine is because they think on field testing matters more.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're getting this data from shoulder pads.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're getting this either from practices or from games, from the college teams, for these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's what they value over running 40 yards in a straight line, et cetera.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that they're right about that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like how fast does this guy move on the football field with pads on?

  [SPEAKER_00]: That makes a lot more sense to me.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So really cool insight into that whole process.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I really like Liam Cohen talking about a lot of one hit wonders.

  [SPEAKER_00]: How do we level up season two of this build is the most important?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Because there's been a lot of teams that do well in your one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Both be a personella additions and the way they're coaching.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's fired up to add Matthew Rujo to the staff on defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: A past game coordinator that knows exactly what Anthony Campanile is looking for in this defense and fired up to Adbra and Pekutchi to the offense with the running game, somebody who knows exactly what Liam Cohen's looking for on that side of the ball with the run game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They were really excited about Chris Rodriguez.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he was a priority for them, as soon as they found it, he was a priority for them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They had to wait to see if he was going to get tendered by the commanders.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He did not.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So as soon as 4 p.m. hit on the actual startup for agency that Wednesday,

  [SPEAKER_00]: They were on the phone and they were getting that deal done, they want to Chris Rodríguez in here pretty bad.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that it wasn't just Liam that was interested in Rodríguez as his former coach, but Gladstone and Bicelli and those guys were all over it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And they also had treatment cracking on there, a ton.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he was talking about the compics.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They were a huge part of the process this year, and TripMacrack and explained to the viewers to the fans watching the show, all about comics that ends and outs of it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily the most minute details, but like if you watch that, you're gonna have a really good understanding of the comic formula, and the jag wars they were,

  [SPEAKER_00]: not just conscious of it, but they made decisions on players based on the config formula to make sure that they were going to have configs for 2027, they're currently projected to have a fourth, a fifth and a sixth for Lloyd, ETN and Newsom.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They know that and they're going to move forward knowing

  [SPEAKER_00]: or projecting that they have those cont picks available to them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And they can potentially be aggressive with 2027 draft picks because they're currently projecting that they're going to have two fourth round picks, two fifth round picks, two sixth round picks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So from this point to the draft, after the draft, into training camp, up to the trade deadline this year,

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone is going to move with that in mind.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be able to make aggressive deals with that in mind.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that that's pretty cool that they think about it that way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And clearly, you haven't seen much of that type of thought process from the Jaguar's past front office.

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone talked about challenging the norms in this one, which

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's just like a general belief that they need to challenge their own processes, challenge their own way they operate from the top down consistently, but also challenge the league.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And one thing I wanted to bring up here is he's looking to break tendency from a internal standpoint, but also like what

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've been sitting here talking about the Jaguars tendencies since they arrived, since James Gladstone and Liam Cohen arrived here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They don't want to be predictable in the draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That could mean they don't want to be predictable with how they trade up or trade down.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That could mean they don't want to be predictable regarding addressing certain positions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like I think it's very easy to sit here and say the Jack Wars probably won't be targeting a traditional F-tied end that really doesn't bring a lot of blocking to the table at this point.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Could they break that tendency?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Could they bring in a supercharged F-tied end to complement Britain's strange, maybe?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you would say it would be kind of surprising to see them draft a linebacker in the second round, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone, Los Angeles Rams, they've never drafted a linebacker higher than the third round.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They decided not to pay Devin Lloyd in favor of Compix, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And just in favor of Capspace, they're not like a team that was flush with Capspace.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Could they go get a linebacker in the second round if the right guy is there?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not taking anything off the table for this group.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to adjust.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to do what they think is best every single year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm really excited about that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: In the final point I had was something that Gladstone talked about during the pre-Jef press conference, but they talked about it a lot during this as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do not want the conversations about prospects between the scouting staff and the front office and everybody involved coaches to feel like a boardroom meeting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They want it to be open and communicative and get to the root of what people are really trying to say and how they feel.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so I just think it was a really cool process.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, unprecedented look into what the Jaguars are doing, how they're moving, how they're rolling into this draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: that would be a competitive disadvantage, but you're getting the process, the why, how they think about this stuff.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And it was really funny at the very hand shirt McCrack, and it was like, it'd be really cool if we could go back and watch replays of this stuff and watch replays of these meetings to kind of like, I guess self-scout in that regard.
