- 3:16Speaker 4: I don't hate penny Wise. I just don't like clowns.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I mean, if I had to pick a clown I liked,
- 3:23Speaker 4: it would be penny Wise. Makes absolutely zero sense.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Right yeah, I mean he only comes back every how
- 3:34Speaker 5: many how many decades to go after children. I mean,
- 3:38Speaker 5: what's not You know he's naughty.
- 3:39Speaker 4: You know, he's a bad clown, where the other clowns
- 3:43Speaker 4: act all sweet and then they try to pull you
- 3:45Speaker 4: in their penny van.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Well, I mean he does try to give you a
- 3:48Speaker 5: red balloon and lure you into.
- 3:50Speaker 4: The but you know he's bad. You know he's bad.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I don't know if Georgia did it first.
- 3:57Speaker 4: You know what I just thought of. I wonder if
- 4:00Speaker 4: any parent would like hire a penny Wise to come
- 4:03Speaker 4: to their children's birthday party with a red balloon, volunteer.
- 4:09Speaker 5: To be a penny wise, but not at an American
- 4:12Speaker 5: kids party yet.
- 4:13Speaker 3: No, you you would not make it.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Sir, especially No, yeah, you would not make it.

- 5:13Speaker 5: of children running streaming.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Oh kids. All right, well, I'm gonna play this silly
- 5:23Speaker 3: little intro video for our stupid news just so Mike
- 5:25Speaker 3: has to watch it because I'm proud of It's got.
- 5:32Speaker 5: An awesome face paint job.
- 5:33Speaker 4: What do you think.
- 5:37Speaker 5: Wat watch the news because we've seen this do every day.
- 5:42Speaker 5: I mean every day.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I think this kid pass out on a Laura people
- 5:47Speaker 3: wanted to.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Be It's just like, dude, you get the best pharaohs ever, dude, just.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Let them out here. Uh, what's what's the best kind
- 5:55Speaker 5: of fireworks to buy? Wouldn't you like to know?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Weather Boy?
- 5:59Speaker 5: Where are your parents? Weather Boy? Well?
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah, wouldn't you like to know? Weather boy boy?
- 6:13Speaker 4: I'm sorry, guys. I love the video because it makes
- 6:16Speaker 4: me laugh every time.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Every time. We started off strong with I like totals
- 6:22Speaker 3: and then the little kid who's like, I don't, I
- 6:23Speaker 3: don't sometimes I don't watch the news. I love it.
- 6:26Speaker 3: It's fantastic.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Same here, kids, same here.
- 6:30Speaker 3: That's right.
- 6:31Speaker 5: I don't have cable anymore, so I can't watch the news.
- 6:35Speaker 5: It's wonderful.
- 6:37Speaker 3: So we are heading down south, and by down south,
- 6:40Speaker 3: I mean closer to Terry than any to me.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Then.
- 6:47Speaker 3: No, we're in San Antonio for this story. And uh
- 6:50Speaker 3: this was publish August sixth, twenty twenty four. Several people
- 6:54Speaker 3: injured after manhides explosives under toilet seats in restrooms.
- 6:59Speaker 5: Rush it ah shit.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Literally, I'm gonna be in San Antonio next weekend, so
- 7:04Speaker 4: I hope he's in jail.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Still check the toilet seats.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Well, I will check the toilet seats.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Let me tell you three people were injured after these
- 7:15Speaker 3: bathrooms that had explosives. It happened last month that two
- 7:19Speaker 3: car washes in San Antonio all in. If I have
- 7:22Speaker 3: to go to the bathroom, I'm not. It's not at
- 7:25Speaker 3: a car wash.
- 7:26Speaker 4: No, Well, it's probably the kind like I used to
- 7:30Speaker 4: go to in California where you get out of the car,
- 7:33Speaker 4: they put it through the thing and you sit out
- 7:35Speaker 4: at the little picnic tables, or you walk through their
- 7:37Speaker 4: little gift shop, go to the bathroom, grab a coffee.
- 7:41Speaker 4: So I can see why you can't go to the restaurant.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so the camera, huh get out?
- 7:48Speaker 4: Not the camera you get out in the middle of
- 7:50Speaker 4: the car wash.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Uh. Paul Moses Alden booby trapped the toilet seats with
- 7:57Speaker 3: still not a drag queen with commercial fireworks that are
- 8:00Speaker 3: designed to explode when pressure is applied. Jesus Christy, this
- 8:05Speaker 3: is like legit, Like you put the pressure on.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Him, but come home.
- 8:10Speaker 3: He's now facing a charge of art person with bodily injury.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Security camera footage showed Alden entering and leaving the bathrooms,
- 8:17Speaker 3: watching the bathrooms from the lobby and leaving after the explosions. Boy,
- 8:21Speaker 3: they're lucky. They caught him because he was going to
- 8:22Speaker 3: do something much bigger if he was if he stuck
- 8:25Speaker 3: around to watch. Now, a customer, an employee, and a
- 8:28Speaker 3: child sustained minor injuries after they sat down, and so
- 8:32Speaker 3: it was.
- 8:32Speaker 4: The men's room obviously.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Well yes, and employees told police that they identified him
- 8:38Speaker 3: because he's a regular customer who uses a membership card.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Oh my god, idiot, what an idiot?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Hell, Harry, I have I have an answer for you
- 8:51Speaker 3: on your I hope he's arrested. Okay, he was arrestled,
- 8:56Speaker 3: and then he was released from jail on a fifty
- 8:58Speaker 3: thousand dollars bond. So that sounds about like Texas, you know,
- 9:02Speaker 3: stay away from the car walk. Yeah, yeah, one ounce
- 9:04Speaker 3: of weed. Yeah, executed this. You go out on five
- 9:10Speaker 3: thousand dollars. It's fine. Court date hasn't even been set
- 9:14Speaker 3: for his next hearing and the investigation is still ongoing.
- 9:18Speaker 3: What more investigation do you need? It's a blown up toilet.
- 9:21Speaker 3: People were hurt, he was found out to have done it.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Case closed because they want evidence, right.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Sure, that's I mean, shit's everywhere. It's pretty easy to find.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I mean, a child. I'm just gonna say he should have.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I mean, I get that he's demented and he didn't
- 9:48Speaker 4: probably care, but how could you do that to a kid?
- 9:50Speaker 4: I mean if I would have been him, and if
- 9:51Speaker 4: I would have saw a child going in there, I'd
- 9:53Speaker 4: been like no no no no no no no no
- 9:54Speaker 4: no no.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Right.
- 9:57Speaker 3: So, uh, you said you had heard of this story,
- 10:02Speaker 3: but you hadn't seen the video. Mike, You've you've heard
- 10:05Speaker 3: and scene.
- 10:05Speaker 5: Right, I've heard of not saying okay.
- 10:09Speaker 3: All right, so right, this this isn't crime, but really
- 10:16Speaker 3: it kind of is. So he should have been given
- 10:19Speaker 3: another shot, just because a money shot, if you will.
- 10:22Speaker 3: A French pole vaulter Anthony Ahmaradi saw his Olympic dream
- 10:26Speaker 3: go up and smoke in unfortunate circumstances. Are unfortunate circumcision stances,
- 10:33Speaker 3: with his fears causing his downfall. He's twenty one. He
- 10:39Speaker 3: was competing in front of his home crowd. He looked
- 10:43Speaker 3: all set to clear five point seven meters and take
- 10:46Speaker 3: a major step towards the final of his event before
- 10:49Speaker 3: disaster struck. Allow me to introduce you to disaster the
- 11:04Speaker 3: way the guy said, what happened here?
- 11:13Speaker 4: I mean, why not strapped down?
- 11:16Speaker 3: So he really did need to strap that sucker down.
- 11:19Speaker 5: You know he's going to get knocks out of his
- 11:20Speaker 5: Olympic door.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Now, dude, Okay, so here's the thing. A porn company
- 11:27Speaker 3: offered him a quarter million dollars to film a movie already.
- 11:32Speaker 5: More than in his sport. Oh for sure.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I mean, anyways, he prepared to relinquish his pole, and
- 11:40Speaker 3: his pole grazed the bar with enough force to send
- 11:43Speaker 3: it crashing to the floor. He'd already cleared two heights
- 11:47Speaker 3: before that.
- 11:48Speaker 4: So now, in all fairness.
- 11:51Speaker 5: He lost his metal Dude who specialized equipment.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Shouldn't make it.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He should have been disqualified.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Shouldn't you have gotten a do over though, because that's
- 12:05Speaker 4: a body part that he can't control. I mean, it
- 12:07Speaker 4: has no brains, It can't think for itself. It just
- 12:10Speaker 4: popped up.
- 12:12Speaker 5: We definitely has no brains.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Collette who became Yeah, I find so. Colette who became
- 12:21Speaker 3: the third best French performer in pole vault history in
- 12:23Speaker 3: June after clearing up bar at five point nine five
- 12:26Speaker 3: meters instead of Anthony's performance on Saturday. When people say
- 12:31Speaker 3: that the games are different, well it really is different. Today.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I missed my competition. I knew that this qualification was
- 12:38Speaker 3: going to be tough, and now I'm taking it in
- 12:40Speaker 3: the face poor choice of words. He wasn't the only
- 12:47Speaker 3: athlete to suffer a disappointing premature exit. This writer knew
- 12:54Speaker 3: what the hell he was doing anyways, So that happened
- 12:59Speaker 3: and that makes me chop. And the last one it's
- 13:04Speaker 3: a bit lengthier, just like Anthony, but but it's worth it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Have you guys heard about the most recent admittance or
- 13:15Speaker 3: admission from RFK Junior about the Bear? Yes, I don't
- 13:22Speaker 3: get it.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I don't get it.
- 13:25Speaker 3: So here's the thing. Such a weirdo, he really wanted
- 13:28Speaker 3: a news cycle and boy did he get one. RFKG.
- 13:33Speaker 3: This is not politics and also don't vote for him
- 13:37Speaker 3: for many reasons, this being one of them. So RFK
- 13:41Speaker 3: Junior felt the need to express who And by the way,
- 13:48Speaker 3: this was an actual like media story in twenty fourteen
- 13:52Speaker 3: that was reported upon and they never figured out who
- 13:55Speaker 3: did it, right, and it was our FK Junior.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Did he really do it or is he lyun Yes?
- 14:02Speaker 3: No, I think he really did it. I think the
- 14:04Speaker 3: circumstances that led up to him doing it are wrong
- 14:07Speaker 3: and a lie. And I'll tell you why and I'm
- 14:10Speaker 3: going to do this for memory. I'm not even going
- 14:11Speaker 3: to read the article because I love it or leave it.
- 14:16Speaker 3: The podcast had a great coverage on it, so RFK
- 14:20Speaker 3: Junior story, which, by the way, he told to an
- 14:24Speaker 3: interviewer known as Rosian Barr because that's what we do
- 14:32Speaker 3: at all. So he's talking about this, this this situation
- 14:40Speaker 3: that happened, and he's saying, and he starts to story off, well,
- 14:46Speaker 3: I left at seven because I had to get to
- 14:48Speaker 3: where I was going by nine because I was taking
- 14:49Speaker 3: some of my friends vulturing, not vulturing.
- 14:53Speaker 5: What is it?
- 14:53Speaker 3: Is it?
- 14:54Speaker 5: No?
- 14:54Speaker 3: What is it? It's not what is that word? U?
- 15:01Speaker 3: Not hawk? Hawk, not hawking? I don't know.
- 15:10Speaker 5: No, No, when you hunt with a predator bird, it's
- 15:14Speaker 5: not vulturing, it's not hawking.
- 15:16Speaker 4: It's I have no idea.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Somebody, somebody listen. This is the get involved. Everybody falconing,
- 15:24Speaker 3: That's it. So he was taking his friend's falconing, because
- 15:28Speaker 3: what else does a Kennedy do. He goes falconing and
- 15:31Speaker 3: is out of touch. So I'm telling you what, it's
- 15:37Speaker 3: just ridiculous at least this fella. So he's taking seven
- 15:42Speaker 3: o'clock he's driving about an hour and a half to
- 15:45Speaker 3: go falconing at nine o'clock. So this is a seven
- 15:48Speaker 3: o'clock on like a Sunday or something. And who's out
- 15:52Speaker 3: at seven on a Sunday driving in the middle of nowhere. Nobody.
- 15:56Speaker 3: But his reasoning was he there was a van in
- 15:59Speaker 3: front of him and a woman. The woman hit the
- 16:02Speaker 3: baby bear, seemed spooked and drove off. First off, if
- 16:08Speaker 3: he's behind her, how does he know that the driver
- 16:10Speaker 3: was spooked if she didn't stop. So I sell it off.
- 16:15Speaker 3: That's his reasoning. So he pulled over and said, hmm,
- 16:19Speaker 3: this is in pretty good condition, picked it up, put
- 16:22Speaker 3: it in the back of his car, but not before
- 16:26Speaker 3: he took pictures with it. Right, and by the way,
- 16:29Speaker 3: this bear apparently had like gat like slashes or something
- 16:33Speaker 3: in it that did not resemble a car accident. So
- 16:36Speaker 3: who knows, put it in the back of his car
- 16:40Speaker 3: and went falcon thing. And here's the thing, And this
- 16:48Speaker 3: was a piece This was a piece of information that
- 16:50Speaker 3: I found out this morning listening to the podcast that
- 16:52Speaker 3: I did, was that day was fifty four degrees It
- 16:55Speaker 3: wasn't cold, it was fifty four degrees outside. That's that bear,
- 17:01Speaker 3: but but not for a dead body. Bear was in
- 17:06Speaker 3: the back of his car all day, and they had
- 17:09Speaker 3: such a good time doing this, they stayed longer, and
- 17:13Speaker 3: so that bear was in his car the whole day.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And then he realized he had to get to dinner
- 17:19Speaker 3: in the city, in New York City at like a
- 17:22Speaker 3: high class steak place. He's talking about this like this
- 17:24Speaker 3: is everybody's every day. So he decided to just drive
- 17:27Speaker 3: straight to the steak place. Bear still in his car.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Where's his falcon in all of this?
- 17:34Speaker 3: The falcon was wherever you keep the falcon, It's like
- 17:37Speaker 3: northern New York. And then he went down. I don't
- 17:40Speaker 3: know all the geography. All I know is that the
- 17:42Speaker 3: bear was in the car all damn day.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Just leave the bear in the falcon place, like come.
- 17:47Speaker 3: On, yeah, there's other options here, or just leave the bear,
- 17:52Speaker 3: like it's not illegal to take the take roadkill in
- 17:54Speaker 3: New York if you find it, that's it's not actually
- 17:58Speaker 3: illegal in that state. That's not the point. The point
- 18:01Speaker 3: is you left a left dead bear, and who knows
- 18:06Speaker 3: if it was actually just hit anyways, the hair was
- 18:10Speaker 3: probably just laying there forever. So and his point was
- 18:15Speaker 3: he wanted to in the bear, and he wanted to
- 18:19Speaker 3: put the meat of the bear in his fridge, and
- 18:22Speaker 3: he wanted.
- 18:22Speaker 5: To eat it.
- 18:24Speaker 3: No, sir, but that is how you get brainworms, and
- 18:27Speaker 3: that's what the hell he had, which he admitted to
- 18:30Speaker 3: himself anyway, So he went to this place to eat
- 18:34Speaker 3: bear still in his trunk. Then as any, Kennedy decided,
- 18:39Speaker 3: oh shoot, I gotta go to the airport because I'm leaving.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Apparently his friends had been drinking. He wasn't, which I
- 18:46Speaker 3: probably is the case because he did have a substance
- 18:48Speaker 3: abuse problem and his friends were like, I think it's
- 18:52Speaker 3: just him, But he says, his friends were like, you
- 18:56Speaker 3: know what'd be really funny is if we put the
- 18:58Speaker 3: bear in Central Park. Huh what? But like, okay, so
- 19:04Speaker 3: Central Park is not even anywhere on the way to
- 19:07Speaker 3: any major airport. So they went out of their way
- 19:10Speaker 3: to go to Central Park to drop this bear off.
- 19:13Speaker 3: And it just so happened that RFK Junior had a
- 19:15Speaker 3: bike that he was trying to get rid of in
- 19:17Speaker 3: his car, because why not, it's RFK Junior, And he said,
- 19:22Speaker 3: we thought it would be funny to put the bear
- 19:23Speaker 3: in Central Park, put the bike on top of the bear,
- 19:25Speaker 3: as if the bike took out the bear and the
- 19:28Speaker 3: biker left and from place right. I mean, wouldn't it
- 19:35Speaker 3: be funny if somebody in Central Park ran across at
- 19:37Speaker 3: haul Hau Hall, they'll get their laughs that what? So
- 19:42Speaker 3: he did that and then all of a sudden, you
- 19:44Speaker 3: get that news story and everything happens. Ten years later,
- 19:47Speaker 3: he's talking about it while also running for president of
- 19:50Speaker 3: the United States.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Didn't I heard that one of his friends or former friends,
- 19:59Speaker 5: actually leaked the photo of him with the bears?
- 20:02Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah, so that's what happened. A friend of his
- 20:05Speaker 3: that just apparently isn't friends with him anymore, leaked the
- 20:09Speaker 3: photo to the New York Times. I can't remember which
- 20:12Speaker 3: which place was covering it, but and he heard, he
- 20:16Speaker 3: caught wind that that is what that is what happened,
- 20:20Speaker 3: and that a story was going to be released. So
- 20:22Speaker 3: on top of everything else, that was his way of
- 20:26Speaker 3: getting ahead of the news story. That was his way
- 20:29Speaker 3: of minimizing damage.
- 20:32Speaker 5: And well, don't worry, everyone's forgotten about this story now.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Now it's all about the coach.
- 20:42Speaker 3: You know, you know, and I'm gonna steal this joke,
- 20:45Speaker 3: you know. JD Vance was on the bottom because he
- 20:47Speaker 3: a lazy boy. I stole that. That's not nice. I mean, uh, yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 3: he needs.
- 20:59Speaker 4: To pay somebody to stop him from thinking he's gonna
- 21:03Speaker 4: get in front of somebody, because they have people that
- 21:05Speaker 4: you can pay for that.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Yeah. All right, so there's a crazy news for the
- 21:16Speaker 3: night show. I can't remember. Did we say we're gonna
- 21:19Speaker 3: do the trailer first or the other thing first?
- 21:22Speaker 4: The other thing first?
- 21:23Speaker 3: Let me have Mike, yeah called called dub H.
- 21:33Speaker 4: He is comment. So now, will he be charged with
- 21:37Speaker 4: anything for the bear?
- 21:39Speaker 3: No, it's far out of jurisdiction. I mean, it's animal
- 21:42Speaker 3: cruelty for sure.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Uh.
- 21:44Speaker 3: If they could prove that he's the one who did it,
- 21:46Speaker 3: and plus that's probably a hunting violation of some sort,
- 21:49Speaker 3: you probably shouldn't well yeah, yeah, yeah, it's too far
- 21:53Speaker 3: it's too far back. And honestly, let let's be serious.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Nobody cared. Nobody cared.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Yeah, we are here.
- 22:01Speaker 3: About guns in schools. We don't care about them. Hey,
- 22:07Speaker 3: dub H. All right, so uh, let's go ahead and
- 22:12Speaker 3: do this. For those of you who don't know, it
- 22:14Speaker 3: is Terry and Dubh's anniversary today. That is how committed
- 22:22Speaker 3: Terry is to the bit.
- 22:26Speaker 4: And one. So I put another man's tattoo on my chest.
- 22:34Speaker 3: All right, So Terry had this video slash song put together,
- 22:38Speaker 3: and we're gonna play it for duble eight immediately.
- 23:00Speaker 6: It's all started out a bark in Dallas Bay say
- 23:04Speaker 6: tick but below weekend Labor Day, a red car vat
- 23:08Speaker 6: shiny and news got.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Her motor running. It's true.
- 23:14Speaker 6: For twenty two years they have been a rocket. Bad
- 23:18Speaker 6: times been come, but no they ain't stopping. From Texas
- 23:22Speaker 6: to Las Vegas, California and back again. They will beside
- 23:26Speaker 6: my side until the end. Oh, I can see you
- 23:45Speaker 6: love me for me, spark lee and think just how
- 23:49Speaker 6: the world it being from bats the worst rea stuck together.
- 23:55Speaker 6: You may call us crazy, but we know better. Oh yeah,
- 23:59Speaker 6: after thing, I still like he's the most.
- 24:02Speaker 2: You are the one I love.
- 24:03Speaker 6: From the desert to the ghost, through the flood, liqueen
- 24:08Speaker 6: and the tears. Cheers to us, pay cheers to twenty
- 24:28Speaker 6: He saised her voice just like his own and became
- 24:32Speaker 6: the best father of this world has ever known. He
- 24:35Speaker 6: is the finest husband that you ever saw, and now
- 24:39Speaker 6: he's the number.
- 24:40Speaker 2: One paw paw. Yeah, he is a rock.
- 24:44Speaker 6: So sturdy and strong in his arms is where she belongs.
- 24:50Speaker 2: She was so hot, so feel so cold.
- 24:53Speaker 5: The future is paid.
- 24:55Speaker 2: With gold, with gold.
- 25:12Speaker 6: Oh, I can see you love me for me, sparkanli
- 25:17Speaker 6: and think just how the worst should be? From mass worst?
- 25:21Speaker 6: We are stuck together. You may call us crazy, but
- 25:25Speaker 6: we know better. Oh yeah, after everything, I still like
- 25:29Speaker 6: you the most.
- 25:30Speaker 2: You are the one I love, from.
- 25:32Speaker 6: The desert to the coast, through the flood, the sweat
- 25:37Speaker 6: and the tears. Cheers to us, Aye years you quet, Oh.
- 25:57Speaker 5: I see you love me for me?
- 26:00Speaker 6: Spark How the worst and worse stuff together? Crazy? We
- 26:10Speaker 6: know better after everything that.
- 26:16Speaker 5: I love, from the.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Desert to the.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Floods lost?
- 26:33Speaker 5: Your kids kill you all cover the case.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, I just realized. I'm like, oh, they may
- 26:39Speaker 4: not be thrilled, but I just threw up some pictures
- 26:41Speaker 4: of them when they were teenagers.
- 26:43Speaker 3: And then I think in there, I think, yes, I
- 26:48Speaker 3: I think. I think. What it proves is that whatever
- 26:53Speaker 3: Terry's happen, I will because she's immortal and doesn't change
- 26:56Speaker 3: no matter how many years go by. Oh please, or
- 27:00Speaker 3: she gets younger, don't know how to fix that. I
- 27:02Speaker 3: already will older than anything if.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Songfinch ever wants to sponsor us, they absolutely can. That's
- 27:10Speaker 4: who did that, and I have to tell you. And
- 27:12Speaker 4: Smoking Joe was amazing And you can even find the
- 27:16Speaker 4: song on Spotify if anybody loves it so much they
- 27:19Speaker 4: want to listen to it.
- 27:24Speaker 3: All right, So we are gonna I'll play We're gonna
- 27:28Speaker 3: play a quick trailer for the new series that we're
- 27:31Speaker 3: premiering on Friday Tomorrow, Tomorrow at nine pm. And that'll
- 27:36Speaker 3: be going for quite some time because there's gonna be
- 27:38Speaker 3: fifty two of them and you'll find out why in
- 27:41Speaker 3: a second thing.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Go.
- 28:30Speaker 3: So that's coming. It's gonna be every Tuesday and then
- 28:32Speaker 3: Thursday Friday, opposite of whatever show is that week, So
- 28:35Speaker 3: get ready.
- 28:37Speaker 4: I was wondering about that. I was like, why is
- 28:39Speaker 4: it say Thursday? Friddy got it now?
- 28:42Speaker 3: Yeah? Yes, And I did indeed grab all the most
- 28:49Speaker 3: most of them have that I was able to find
- 28:52Speaker 3: so far, have the primary documentation. By that, I mean,
- 28:55Speaker 3: I'm reading like the facts from the appeal and so
- 28:58Speaker 3: we can actually get what happened. And I think that
- 29:01Speaker 3: that seems to be what everybody seems to enjoy. So
- 29:04Speaker 3: that's what I'm doing for everybody. So yeah, I guess
- 29:09Speaker 3: now it's time to talk about what we're drinking and
- 29:11Speaker 3: then hop into our cases about prison escapes and crimes.
- 29:14Speaker 4: I just have to say one thing about your new series.
- 29:18Speaker 4: It is sad that there's that many cases to cover.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Well, and it's it's a drop in the ocean in
- 29:28Speaker 3: comparison to the entire total. And we're thinking about the
- 29:32Speaker 3: next series being teens or young kids who were put
- 29:37Speaker 3: on death varro early like, and that's seventy seventy something.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Yeah, it's shocking.
- 29:45Speaker 3: I mean we got something. Yeah, it's seventy something on
- 29:49Speaker 3: death row who were sentenced as teens and then four
- 29:52Speaker 3: hundred plus that we're sentenced to life as teens. Yeah,
- 29:56Speaker 3: so that's fun, exciting times. But anyways, that'll be that'll
- 30:01Speaker 3: be going on for quite some time. Uh and again
- 30:05Speaker 3: to two episodes or two yeah, two two videos a week.
- 30:09Speaker 3: They'll be set as premieres, so they'll seem live and
- 30:11Speaker 3: that the reason for that is so that you guys
- 30:12Speaker 3: can talk to each other while they play, because that's
- 30:15Speaker 3: the point of the community. Uh, they will not be live,
- 30:19Speaker 3: So don't get angry if I don't click on something
- 30:21Speaker 3: because I won't have nothing to click on, so that.
- 30:25Speaker 4: We might be in the chat. People never know that's true.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Up and enjoin the chat.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, all right, So let's talk about what we're drinking.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Who wants to go first?
- 30:38Speaker 4: I want Mike to go first because he always has
- 30:40Speaker 4: the most interesting drinks.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Well, I had to drive up to the town of
- 30:45Speaker 5: Squamish today, which is about an hour and twenty minutes
- 30:49Speaker 5: from my house for work. And I picked up some
- 30:51Speaker 5: beer from Backcountry Brewing up there, and this is Keep
- 30:55Speaker 5: the Change, a failthy animal and bare laged Imperial Stut
- 31:02Speaker 5: with coffee, coconut and vanilla and it's twelve percent alcohol.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Now, did you say you drove to Squamish?
- 31:10Speaker 3: Yeah, isn't that?
- 31:13Speaker 4: Isn't that a cancer? A Squamish cell. I think it's
- 31:17Speaker 4: a cancer.
- 31:18Speaker 5: It's an indigenous name in Canada, Squamish Nation.
- 31:22Speaker 4: You know, could be wrong.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I think you're talking about a basil cell carcinoma.
- 31:29Speaker 4: I have basil cells too, But I think there's a
- 31:31Speaker 4: squamish I.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Don't know, but oh yeah, there's a squamus cell. But
- 31:37Speaker 3: there's no s there's a squams just that at an
- 31:43Speaker 3: h is all, Yeah, what are you drinking JTA. Well,
- 31:49Speaker 3: you know I need to keep my wits about me
- 31:53Speaker 3: tonight anyways, Uh, simply because we're in a tornado watch
- 31:57Speaker 3: for like until seven am. I have right, Yeah, I know,
- 32:01Speaker 3: I have a combination of things. Uh. What I'm drinking
- 32:05Speaker 3: right now is twisted tea. It's a half and half,
- 32:07Speaker 3: so that's fun. And then I've got Sam Adams just
- 32:10Speaker 3: the Hayes non alcoholic I p a which is a
- 32:12Speaker 3: grand total of point five percent alcohol. But it's actually
- 32:16Speaker 3: pretty yummy, so I'll take it.
- 32:19Speaker 5: And mumm.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Terry picks a good one.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Double h picks this up because I didn't have anything.
- 32:27Speaker 4: It is called nineteen Crimes Callie Rose, but it's got
- 32:32Speaker 4: Snoop Dogg on.
- 32:33Speaker 3: It, Snoop do O double D and Dog is.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Doing a great job at the Olympics. I mean he
- 32:43Speaker 4: I was like, why a Snoop dog there? But after
- 32:45Speaker 4: listening to his commentary, I get why Snoop Dogg's there?
- 32:51Speaker 3: He's he's he was he was hanging out. I'll I
- 32:56Speaker 3: have a track Runner track is not like the most
- 32:58Speaker 3: fun to be there in person. I mean, I'm sure
- 33:00Speaker 3: the Olympics are different. I'm sure that's super exciting. I
- 33:03Speaker 3: love watching it. But he was sitting there chilling out,
- 33:06Speaker 3: having the best time in the world, right next to
- 33:07Speaker 3: Simone Biles and they were just hanging today. And I
- 33:11Speaker 3: just think he's he has really made the Olympics this year.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I think France did a great job with the Olympics
- 33:18Speaker 3: this year. You know, he is indeed the Olympics mascot
- 33:26Speaker 3: for short. Ah, that's our first.
- 33:28Speaker 4: One, the first one.
- 33:31Speaker 3: That is the first one the store. Hey, miss you're
- 33:37Speaker 3: the best. Now I need to hop into YouTube because
- 33:40Speaker 3: streamyard has yet to bring out the idea of who
- 33:45Speaker 3: was gifted? All right, let's see here who was gifted? Angie,
- 33:50Speaker 3: Sam Kelly, Terry uh Lama gifted boom first five. That
- 33:59Speaker 3: is awesome, Thank you so much.
- 34:02Speaker 5: That that's what the town of Squamish looks like. I
- 34:08Speaker 5: won't freaking focus properly.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Okay, that doesn't look like a cancer.
- 34:16Speaker 3: No, no, it doesn't look very One question about Snoop Dogg.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Do you think he's partaking while he's there?
- 34:29Speaker 3: Oh?
- 34:30Speaker 5: That?
- 34:30Speaker 3: Since that that has never stopped him.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Just because it's.
- 34:36Speaker 5: Spread upon in some countries like in Japan, you can
- 34:40Speaker 5: get in like some serious, serious, serious trouble for smoking pot.
- 34:45Speaker 5: I remember there was a metal band that was in
- 34:47Speaker 5: Japan doing a concert and said they were smoking pot
- 34:50Speaker 5: and then someone ran out on stage and said, retract
- 34:53Speaker 5: that now.
- 34:55Speaker 3: So yes, I mean wonder like they obviously lee they
- 35:01Speaker 3: they most assuredly consulted him on the design of the
- 35:06Speaker 3: Olympic flame. Right, truly, let me let me, let me
- 35:11Speaker 3: see if I can find it.
- 35:15Speaker 4: He's doing edibles instead of smoking.
- 35:18Speaker 3: I mean, look, it is most assuredly a joint.
- 35:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I like to see too that he was hanging
- 35:27Speaker 5: up with his best friend Martha. One day with.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Martha and she celebrated her at like eighty fourth birthday
- 35:32Speaker 4: or something there. Okay, she looks good ready for she
- 35:38Speaker 4: was good.
- 35:39Speaker 6: For a.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah, she's done more time than snoop. Yes, yep, all right,
- 35:48Speaker 3: let's let's hop into these prison escapes, shall we? What
- 35:51Speaker 3: do you think we shall? All right, you're up, I
- 35:55Speaker 3: am and.
- 35:57Speaker 4: My case I'm going to start. We said Toby Door
- 36:00Speaker 4: because that's what she goes by now. But she's formerly
- 36:03Speaker 4: Toby Young in case some people were like, who the
- 36:05Speaker 4: heck is Toby Door? So she led a very seemingly
- 36:11Speaker 4: boring ordinary life in Kansas.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Guy.
- 36:13Speaker 4: She was your typical suburban mom. She was a wife,
- 36:17Speaker 4: and she was a professional there for a while who
- 36:20Speaker 4: managed to balance all of that crazy stuff. And she
- 36:24Speaker 4: married her high school sweetheart at the age of twenty.
- 36:27Speaker 4: So they met when she was like fifteen and he
- 36:30Speaker 4: was sixteen. She went to college, she worked in management
- 36:34Speaker 4: for Sprint, and then she got laid off. Now she
- 36:38Speaker 4: was known in the community for her kindness, her dedication,
- 36:41Speaker 4: and her unshakable sense of responsibility. But guys, beneath the surface,
- 36:49Speaker 4: she was more than a board housewife. She was more
- 36:52Speaker 4: than a desperate housewife. She was a housewife who did
- 36:57Speaker 4: some crazy stuff. Okay, so she was craving some adventure.
- 37:02Speaker 4: She had been depressed. But guys, her life took an
- 37:06Speaker 4: unexpected turn when she began volunteering at the Lansing Correctional Facility.
- 37:12Speaker 4: And guys, this part is so sweet. She started a
- 37:16Speaker 4: program called Safe Harbor Prison Dogs, which aimed to rehabilitate
- 37:22Speaker 4: both inmates and dogs. So they took dogs from shelters.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Then they dogs lived with the prisoners when they were approved,
- 37:30Speaker 4: and they helped train them so that they could be
- 37:32Speaker 4: better adopted.
- 37:34Speaker 5: Ah, guys, I've never thought of adopting a prisoner.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Right, you know, we could start that, I guess. But
- 37:45Speaker 4: she found her purpose, boy, and her family said she
- 37:50Speaker 4: was very, very happy. But unfortunately it was in this
- 37:55Speaker 4: unlikely setting for her that she met John Menard, aged
- 37:58Speaker 4: twenty seven and who guys, he was convicted of murder
- 38:02Speaker 4: at the age of seventeen, but he was serving a
- 38:07Speaker 4: life sentence. But it began as a total professional interaction
- 38:12Speaker 4: and it soon evolved into a relationship, which, guys, I'm
- 38:17Speaker 4: going to just tell you. I thought, Okay, that's really weird.
- 38:21Speaker 4: But then I was watching the Dateline episode on this
- 38:25Speaker 4: after I wrote this, the I forget what they call
- 38:29Speaker 4: the head prison chaplain guard, the main dude. He says
- 38:36Speaker 4: that it's very common that they have to let volunteers go,
- 38:40Speaker 4: even staff, because they get too close to the prisoners,
- 38:45Speaker 4: and that just shocked me. But John Menard was charismatic, intelligent,
- 38:52Speaker 4: and persuasive. Over time, he managed to build a rapport
- 38:56Speaker 4: with Tommy Tommy Toby that went beyond those boundaries that
- 39:01Speaker 4: they were supposed to have. It is said he shared
- 39:04Speaker 4: his dreams, his regrets, and his aspiration with her. Guys,
- 39:09Speaker 4: she was a lot older than him, so I think
- 39:12Speaker 4: he had some mommy issues, but she found herself drawn
- 39:15Speaker 4: to his vulnerability and charm. She even said later when
- 39:19Speaker 4: she was interviewed that he made her feel loved and
- 39:22Speaker 4: seen for the first time. Guys, I found that a
- 39:26Speaker 4: little sad, Okay, because I do like I do like
- 39:29Speaker 4: a good love story.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Okay, this this listen just like just like they say
- 39:35Speaker 3: in Star Wars. This is not the hallmark movie you
- 39:37Speaker 3: were looking for. It is not that's how that goes,
- 39:40Speaker 3: I think.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Yeah, But it wasn't long before John proposed a totally
- 39:47Speaker 4: audacious and crazy plan on how to escape from prison,
- 39:51Speaker 4: and he needed Toby's help to do this. Okay, Now,
- 39:57Speaker 4: John Menard was a criminal, as I said, but it
- 40:00Speaker 4: was complex. He was born into a very troubled household.
- 40:04Speaker 4: He had a history of run ins with the law
- 40:07Speaker 4: from a young age and it escalated, leading to a
- 40:10Speaker 4: series of armed robbery. During one of those robberies, it
- 40:14Speaker 4: took a deadly turn. There was a shootout and a
- 40:17Speaker 4: man died. He was convicted of first degree murder and
- 40:20Speaker 4: was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of
- 40:23Speaker 4: parole when he was seventeen. So but against her better
- 40:31Speaker 4: judgment and the values, she held dear. She found Toby
- 40:34Speaker 4: found herself agreeing to John's plan. Okay, the thrill of
- 40:39Speaker 4: breaking free from her suburbian life, plus falling in love
- 40:44Speaker 4: with him, she was willing to do whatever he wanted. Okay. Now,
- 40:51Speaker 4: On February twelfth, two thousand and six, the plan was
- 40:55Speaker 4: set into motion. Toby smuggled John out of the prison
- 41:00Speaker 4: and a dog crate hidden in the back of the van.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Oh wow, he had to lose twenty five pounds to
- 41:09Speaker 4: be able to fit in the dog crate. Okay, I
- 41:16Speaker 4: think that's risky. But once it was discovered that a
- 41:19Speaker 4: prisoner had escaped, the prison leader started looking into how
- 41:23Speaker 4: the prisoner escaped. They started looking at all the fencing,
- 41:26Speaker 4: looking inside his cell because they were like, how the
- 41:28Speaker 4: heck did he get out of here? So then they
- 41:30Speaker 4: started looking into the vehicles that left that day, and
- 41:34Speaker 4: they found that the van for Safe Harbor had left
- 41:37Speaker 4: the prison and the van had not been inspected and
- 41:41Speaker 4: checked for the policy. So they said, it was really
- 41:45Speaker 4: cold that day, so they just put him into the
- 41:49Speaker 4: you know, let her go, and they didn't check it. Okay. Now,
- 41:54Speaker 4: they were worried that Toby was in danger and that
- 41:56Speaker 4: she possibly was a victim of kidnapping. So the police
- 42:00Speaker 4: called her husband to tell them that, hey, your wife
- 42:04Speaker 4: during her volunteer shift because she was supposed to be
- 42:07Speaker 4: taking the crate going to an adoption show adopting some
- 42:10Speaker 4: dogs to bring back. So, like I said, the police
- 42:14Speaker 4: thought John had forced her. Right, the husband alerted them
- 42:19Speaker 4: to the fact that there was a large sum of
- 42:22Speaker 4: money missing and several guns from the house, and the
- 42:25Speaker 4: police were like, oh shit, he not only kidnapped her,
- 42:29Speaker 4: he took her to her house and forced her to
- 42:32Speaker 4: take this stuff. So they were concerned for her life.
- 42:34Speaker 4: I mean, he is a killer. Now, he didn't set
- 42:37Speaker 4: out to kill anyone, but in a shootout of a robbery,
- 42:40Speaker 4: he still took someone's live.
- 42:42Speaker 3: I mean, who sets out to kill anyone?
- 42:45Speaker 5: You know? Other than that, I could think of a
- 42:47Speaker 5: couple everyone.
- 42:48Speaker 4: I'd like to think of a couple of people.
- 42:51Speaker 3: I mean, it's been a few years. I should know
- 42:52Speaker 3: better to say that.
- 42:53Speaker 4: I'm like, going, I think you need to reconsider your
- 42:56Speaker 4: podcasting career. Neap kidding.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not saying anything I haven't asked myself many times.
- 43:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Now, after talking with John's family, because they were like
- 43:09Speaker 4: somebody had to help this dude, right, So they talked
- 43:12Speaker 4: to all of his friends in the family and they
- 43:15Speaker 4: were like, we don't know what you're talking about. We
- 43:18Speaker 4: didn't help him. And then they interviewed all of the staff,
- 43:21Speaker 4: the prison guards. They are like, hey, y'all didn't check
- 43:24Speaker 4: the thing. Then they started talking to all of the prisoners.
- 43:29Speaker 4: Nobody helped him, okay, And they soon came to think
- 43:35Speaker 4: maybe the inside person who helped John escape was none
- 43:39Speaker 4: other than the rule follower Toby Young. So, I mean,
- 43:46Speaker 4: she was considered to be extremely loyal. One article I
- 43:51Speaker 4: read it was kind of sad. Everybody considered her to
- 43:55Speaker 4: be like mother Teresa, and I was like, yeah, she wasn't.
- 44:04Speaker 4: So during these interviews they found out with talking to
- 44:08Speaker 4: the prison guards, they're like, oh, yeah, Toby and John
- 44:10Speaker 4: hang out all together. They're very close. Somebody should have
- 44:14Speaker 4: said something, you know. So they started the investigator started
- 44:19Speaker 4: looking into Toby and her actions leading up to the
- 44:21Speaker 4: prison break. They found Toby had not only taken money
- 44:25Speaker 4: from the house and guns from the house, she had
- 44:28Speaker 4: also cleaned out her retirement account and had that right role.
- 44:34Speaker 4: So everything was going ding ding ding. She's guilty, right,
- 44:39Speaker 4: They also learned that she had purchased men's clothing, two
- 44:44Speaker 4: burner phones, and other supplies that her husband said were
- 44:48Speaker 4: not for him. Guys, I had to know what those
- 44:52Speaker 4: other supplies were. Oh boy, anybody want to take a guess?
- 45:00Speaker 3: Honestly, no, come on, anybody.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Toys?
- 45:07Speaker 3: Oh yep, would not be on my top ten.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Next toys?
- 45:12Speaker 3: Yeah, tapn got it is ish duct tape. Oh all right, Kelly, listen,
- 45:19Speaker 3: I'm not shaming. I mean, you do you booboo? She
- 45:26Speaker 3: pegged it.
- 45:29Speaker 4: During their investigation, they found out that Toby had given
- 45:33Speaker 4: John one of these cell phones, and that in the
- 45:36Speaker 4: weeks leading up to this, they spent thousands of hours
- 45:41Speaker 4: on the phone talking and texting. So my question is,
- 45:47Speaker 4: how do prison guards not hear him talking on a phone?
- 45:53Speaker 3: I mean, maybe he felt like he was just talking
- 45:56Speaker 3: to himself, or they did it overnight when the prison
- 45:58Speaker 3: guards don't really give Ah his.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Could be I guess, I don't know. I haven't been
- 46:03Speaker 4: to prison, so I don't know. But they this made
- 46:10Speaker 4: them one hund convinced that Toby was not a kidnapping
- 46:14Speaker 4: victim and that she was an accomplice. However, they said
- 46:17Speaker 4: they were still worried about her safety because they were
- 46:21Speaker 4: worried once they got to wherever they were going, he
- 46:23Speaker 4: would get rid of her. I mean, you've got a witness,
- 46:29Speaker 4: right who can tell on you. So the police were
- 46:33Speaker 4: able to find she had rented to a storage unit
- 46:36Speaker 4: a couple of weeks before the escape. They went there. Inside,
- 46:40Speaker 4: they found the van from Safe Harbor and she had
- 46:45Speaker 4: closed there and all the supplies that she had bought.
- 46:48Speaker 4: They took them on the run with them, so they
- 46:51Speaker 4: had another vehicle stashed in that storage unit, which I
- 46:54Speaker 4: do say that was a smart thought, right. They did
- 46:58Speaker 4: do some good rap.
- 46:59Speaker 3: Sure.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Now police had to call Toby's husband and tell him
- 47:06Speaker 4: that there was now I warn't being issued for her
- 47:08Speaker 4: arrest in connection with John's prison escape. She had two
- 47:13Speaker 4: adult children. Her and her husband had lost a daughter
- 47:18Speaker 4: who died right after birth, but there was two adult
- 47:21Speaker 4: son but the family did not believe the police, okay,
- 47:25Speaker 4: until the police gave all the evidence. They were shocked
- 47:30Speaker 4: right now. Her husband Pat was devastated and the couple
- 47:35Speaker 4: sons never get past this. But the story went international,
- 47:40Speaker 4: So I don't know if y'all heard about it, but
- 47:41Speaker 4: it was all over here when it happened, and the
- 47:45Speaker 4: family did a press conference and said that they believed
- 47:50Speaker 4: John had manipulated her or threatened her, okay, and they
- 47:55Speaker 4: asked her to just come forward give herself up because
- 47:59Speaker 4: they were really worried that he would kill her or
- 48:02Speaker 4: that she was going to get killed when the cops
- 48:05Speaker 4: rushed in, right, so, just Well's. Days after the escape,
- 48:13Speaker 4: police received a tip from a used car dealership who
- 48:17Speaker 4: said that a woman by the name of Molly Rose,
- 48:21Speaker 4: who looked like Toby but used a different name and
- 48:23Speaker 4: had dyed her hair, had come in and purchased a
- 48:26Speaker 4: vehicle and then was adamant about the address in Tennessee
- 48:31Speaker 4: where she wanted the title scent. Okay, guys, I'm just
- 48:36Speaker 4: going to just give you a tip right now. If
- 48:39Speaker 4: you break someone out of prison and the police are
- 48:42Speaker 4: looking for you, if you purchase a car and a
- 48:45Speaker 4: fake name, you give a fake address for the title,
- 48:49Speaker 4: not the address of where you're really going, Okay, smart,
- 48:54Speaker 4: just want to do Just want to tell you now.
- 48:58Speaker 4: The Marshall started preparing to raid the house that they
- 49:00Speaker 4: found on the title, and it was at a very
- 49:03Speaker 4: secluded part of Tennessee. They said it was a great
- 49:06Speaker 4: place to hide. It was by the lake. There was
- 49:09Speaker 4: you know, it's winner. Not a lot of people in
- 49:13Speaker 4: the swat team. They were getting ready to raid the house.
- 49:16Speaker 4: But they had a Marshall who was driving around the
- 49:18Speaker 4: town in Tennessee, just you know, keeping an eye on
- 49:22Speaker 4: the town when he spotted a vehicle that he thought
- 49:24Speaker 4: was acting odd. So he decided to follow the truck
- 49:27Speaker 4: and see what was going on. Now this Marshall told
- 49:31Speaker 4: Dateline that the truck looked like it was lost. It
- 49:34Speaker 4: kept stopping, turning on its blinker, not going that way,
- 49:37Speaker 4: and didn't know where it was going. So he thought
- 49:40Speaker 4: it was a good idea to follow them and see
- 49:42Speaker 4: if it was this couple, because this wasn't a town
- 49:45Speaker 4: that people hung out in.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Now that's a weird sentence, like that's a weird thought
- 49:53Speaker 3: like this, Just stay in a town people hang out in.
- 49:56Speaker 3: They come, I've been to that before, Come Buck.
- 50:04Speaker 4: Dearing the Winner. If it's a tourist town and everybody
- 50:07Speaker 4: comes there to be on the lake, it's kind of
- 50:09Speaker 4: like a college town. Nobody's there when school's are not
- 50:12Speaker 4: in sessions, so you're not just hanging out in town,
- 50:15Speaker 4: so you would know everybody right and you wouldn't be lost.
- 50:20Speaker 5: That kind of reminds me when I was in Atlanta
- 50:22Speaker 5: and uh, our hotel was canceled there and we had
- 50:25Speaker 5: to book another one. We found a one in twenty
- 50:27Speaker 5: minutes out another town, and when we walked in the hotel,
- 50:30Speaker 5: they're like, what are you doing here? We shouldn't have
- 50:36Speaker 5: hung out there. We were told that be my wife
- 50:39Speaker 5: were told if we left the hotel, we get in
- 50:41Speaker 5: an uber, or after dark we get an uber, or
- 50:45Speaker 5: we don't leave the hotel.
- 50:47Speaker 4: That sounds like Atlanta.
- 50:49Speaker 5: No, No, Atlanta's safe as hell. It's uh, Telethonia, that's
- 50:52Speaker 5: where we were.
- 50:53Speaker 4: I'm going to just tell you Atlanta.
- 50:58Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it was. It was awesome.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Okay, there's parts and aren't so safe, but you do you.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Booth every city, every city.
- 51:08Speaker 4: So this Marshall followed them onto the freeway, but he
- 51:12Speaker 4: called in backup, especially when he pulled up next to it,
- 51:15Speaker 4: because he's not in a cop car, right, he's in
- 51:17Speaker 4: a regular truck. He pulls up and he sees John
- 51:20Speaker 4: Menard driving and that Toby was riding in the passenger seat,
- 51:24Speaker 4: so he called in backup.
- 51:27Speaker 3: No getting He said, I think I might need more
- 51:31Speaker 3: than just me and this taser.
- 51:33Speaker 4: And they were all getting ready to go to the house.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Just a Taser rocket launcher.
- 51:41Speaker 4: So, as we all can guess, a high speed chase started. Now,
- 51:48Speaker 4: something that's funny about this when you hear Toby interviewed later,
- 51:54Speaker 4: she said, as they're driving down the freeway, they noticed
- 51:57Speaker 4: a cop car was stopping people from getting off on
- 52:00Speaker 4: the freeway. And she looked at John and she goes, hmm,
- 52:03Speaker 4: there must be a rack up ahead or something, because
- 52:06Speaker 4: they're not letting people on. And John looked at her
- 52:09Speaker 4: and smiled and goes, no, honey, that's for us. I
- 52:15Speaker 4: think this dude was loving this right.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Oh, yes, you don't go to jail because you avoid
- 52:24Speaker 3: having fun getting chased.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Well, but now he was twenty seven. He went to
- 52:29Speaker 4: prison when he was what eighteen, seventeen eighteen, You would
- 52:32Speaker 4: have thought he would have changed a little bit. But
- 52:34Speaker 4: that's okay. Anyway, John was speeding. He lost control of
- 52:39Speaker 4: the car after he crossed the median onto the other
- 52:43Speaker 4: side and was driving down the shoulder of the road
- 52:46Speaker 4: going towards traffic.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Sure, why not check it?
- 52:50Speaker 4: And I lost control. They spun out and they almost
- 52:53Speaker 4: hit a tree going one hundred and five miles an hour.
- 52:56Speaker 3: Guys, that's fast. Oh it is, went through the tree.
- 53:02Speaker 4: They you're even dead, you know.
- 53:06Speaker 3: How Like when you're pitching, they say, envision just passed
- 53:10Speaker 3: the catcher, right like you don't. If you're about to
- 53:13Speaker 3: hit a tree, you don't envision just pass the tree.
- 53:16Speaker 3: You need to go never mind.
- 53:20Speaker 5: Did you say it was one hundred and five miles
- 53:21Speaker 5: per hour? Yes, so one hundred and sixty nine kilometers
- 53:26Speaker 5: per hour. That is very fast.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Yes, that's very fast.
- 53:31Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Freedom units.
- 53:34Speaker 5: Yes, yes, I had to do my calcumulations.
- 53:38Speaker 3: It's so hard because then brew cram spirit scripts. I
- 53:41Speaker 3: got to do both, and then in this one I
- 53:43Speaker 3: don't and I don't know what what I what units
- 53:45Speaker 3: I use anymore?
- 53:47Speaker 4: Yeah? I use the unit I know, but if I
- 53:50Speaker 4: need to do the other, I scream at double h
- 53:52Speaker 4: Hey how many kilometers is that?
- 53:55Speaker 3: So hey Google?
- 53:56Speaker 6: Yah?
- 53:58Speaker 4: Yeah? But I usually I asked those questions when I'm
- 54:01Speaker 4: into a podcast and I will roll over and I go, hey,
- 54:03Speaker 4: how many kilometers is it? And he's like, oh my god, Terry, so.
- 54:08Speaker 5: But hey kilometers take the military does hell? Ya? That does.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Just that?
- 54:16Speaker 4: Crazy weird twenty four hour clock format thing that I use. Yeah,
- 54:22Speaker 4: I don't.
- 54:23Speaker 3: I mean, my eight year old knows how to use it.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Now it's eight fifty four, so I have to add.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Seven twenty fifty four.
- 54:33Speaker 4: Nope, that's fifteen fifty four. When I do.
- 54:35Speaker 3: It, fifteen fifty four is three fifty four.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Oh so yeah, yeah, we're just going to keep going
- 54:42Speaker 4: and say Terry doesn't do gas math or twenty four
- 54:45Speaker 4: hour military time.
- 54:46Speaker 3: We also don't do time.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Since we're fine, Yeah, we're good now. They were both arrested,
- 54:53Speaker 4: but there wasn't a shootout or anything. I do think
- 54:56Speaker 4: John must have cared about her because when they wrecked,
- 54:59Speaker 4: he immediately jumped out so that they wouldn't shoot because
- 55:05Speaker 4: he was worried that she would get hurt. So I
- 55:07Speaker 4: do think he did care about her. The thing I
- 55:10Speaker 4: found interesting they gave him an additional ten years tacked
- 55:16Speaker 4: on his original life sentence without parole. Explain to me
- 55:23Speaker 4: what ten more years is going to do for him?
- 55:27Speaker 3: Uh? It makes the judge feel like he actually did
- 55:30Speaker 3: something I don't know.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Okay, okay, Well, Toby pled guilty to aiding in a
- 55:37Speaker 4: bedding and for bringing contraband into a prison akas cell phone.
- 55:44Speaker 4: She served twenty seven months in a federal prison for
- 55:47Speaker 4: her role. Now Toby's husband filed for divorce, and her
- 55:54Speaker 4: divorce was finaled the day her trial or the day
- 55:57Speaker 4: she was going to put the day before she went
- 55:59Speaker 4: to prison. They had one conversation after she was arrested,
- 56:05Speaker 4: and he basically told her, you ruined my life. You
- 56:08Speaker 4: screwed up everything, you ruined our kids life. I've done
- 56:12Speaker 4: with you, done so good jobs. I I'm not gonna
- 56:18Speaker 4: I'm I think you did, you know? She later Toby
- 56:21Speaker 4: later told Dayline that she fell in love with John Okay,
- 56:27Speaker 4: I would.
- 56:28Speaker 3: Hope I go.
- 56:29Speaker 4: Okay, I hope you yeah that in one of them.
- 56:37Speaker 3: That's that's a hella. Hella committed for somebody who mildly
- 56:40Speaker 3: tolerates the other.
- 56:41Speaker 4: So guys don't laugh. But in her interview after she
- 56:48Speaker 4: got out, she said one of the best things about
- 56:51Speaker 4: their relationship was their physical intimacy. Inside the truck was money,
- 56:58Speaker 4: guns and multiple sex toys and things for sex.
- 57:03Speaker 3: Well, listen, sometimes you got to grab the stick shift
- 57:07Speaker 3: and sometimes you got to grab the stick shift. That's
- 57:10Speaker 3: all I'm saying.
- 57:13Speaker 5: I guess it is, Samantha.
- 57:16Speaker 4: It is penny wise. But now, during her incarceration, Toby
- 57:24Speaker 4: of course had a lot of time on her hands,
- 57:26Speaker 4: and she began reflecting on her actions and the choices
- 57:30Speaker 4: that led her to being in prison right openly now,
- 57:34Speaker 4: but she does what I wish more people would do.
- 57:38Speaker 4: She used the time to truly gain some insight into
- 57:42Speaker 4: her own mind, understanding why she did it. Okay, Now,
- 57:48Speaker 4: I want to tell you Toby is remarried and she
- 57:51Speaker 4: now works to help other women break out of what
- 57:54Speaker 4: she calls their emotional prison. And then she also helps
- 57:58Speaker 4: women coming out of prison. Okay. Now, A significant part
- 58:02Speaker 4: of her journey towards redemption involved reaching out to those
- 58:05Speaker 4: she had wronged. Guys. She even sent a letter to
- 58:11Speaker 4: that head guy at the correctional facility and apologize. He
- 58:15Speaker 4: actually met up with her and told her thank you
- 58:18Speaker 4: for that, because she owned it.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Guys.
- 58:21Speaker 4: She didn't try to say, oh he manipulated me, Oh
- 58:24Speaker 4: he did this. She truly said, I screwed up and
- 58:28Speaker 4: I should have just gotten a divorce.
- 58:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:32Speaker 4: So I give her some kudos for that, because you
- 58:37Speaker 4: got to remember her husband that she was married too.
- 58:40Speaker 4: They met when she was fifteen, they got married when
- 58:43Speaker 4: she was twenty. She never dated anyone else.
- 58:47Speaker 5: Oh, never do that. So yeah, I'm around.
- 58:51Speaker 4: First get out there and try a few first, try
- 58:56Speaker 4: it for you. Don't run off with a guy that
- 59:00Speaker 4: you hadn't tried on yet.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Yeah, like a skin suit. I mean, I know what
- 59:07Speaker 3: you meant. You want Anthony the pole vaulter. You don't
- 59:14Speaker 3: want Hannibal Lecter. Pick the right.
- 59:17Speaker 4: One, now, guys, what is said? She was unable to
- 59:22Speaker 4: repair her relationship with her youngest son, who died just
- 59:26Speaker 4: a little bit after she got out of prison. She
- 59:29Speaker 4: did go see him when he was sick with cancer,
- 59:32Speaker 4: and she asked if she could hug him, and he
- 59:35Speaker 4: said no, and she goes, well, you know, I love you,
- 59:38Speaker 4: and he goes, I know.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Mom.
- 59:41Speaker 5: At least she still said, mom.
- 59:44Speaker 4: Yeah. But she is still trying to repair the damage
- 59:48Speaker 4: to a relationship with her older son, and to this day,
- 59:52Speaker 4: none of her sisters or her son have anything to
- 59:56Speaker 4: do with her. Her brothers still talk to her, and
- 59:59Speaker 4: her mom and dad it up until they passed away,
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: but they didn't.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: I can't blame them. I really can't.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: I can't either. I mean, the sisters, I'm a little
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: bit more the kid. I can get because your mom
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: chows a man over you. But sister, you.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: Know, not for that thing. You know.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: Yeah, But she wrote a memoir. She shares her story
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: as a cautionary tale, and she's now a motivational speaker
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: and she works on prison reform. Like I said, she
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: has truly rebuilt her life, focusing on positive things and
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: trying to get people to realize there's better things to
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: do to get out of your marriage. If you're born
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: in your life, there's some other things to do. I'm like,
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: divorce is a thing or this is going to sound crazy,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: have a fair maybe, but don't break somebody out of prison.
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: I mean, if you're super bored in your relationship, See
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: if there's a possibility of an open relationship, people do
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: that shit Like did she?
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Did she ever hear of Ashley Madison? Like you don't.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: You ain't got to get behind bars in order to
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: find it.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: I've got a vow in an open relationship that has
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: multiple partners and they're all happy as fuck. Yeah, it
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: works for some people, it doesn't work for others. No, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: I don't share. Well, yeah, I don't share.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: Well she doesn't. I didn't, I didn't know how she
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: was going to share me at the conference at the festival.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: So it was hard to share you. It really was,
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: and I'm just gonna warn you I'm feeling it alrighty. So, guys,
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: I have to tell you when I first heard about
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: this case years ago because I followed it, I literally thought,
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: this woman is that shit crazy? You literally leave your perfect, normal,
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: boring life with you know, you ask your kids have
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: left home, but you are volunteering and you're helping all
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: of these adorable dogs be trained and find homes. And
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: you're not only screwed over your family, you screwed over yourself,
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: but you screwed over all these dogs because they canceled
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: the program.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: Ah but.
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: I know. But after doing all my research, the fact
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: that she owned it, accepted responsibility, and she's doing everything
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: that she should be doing to show that she wants
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: to lead a different life, I truly think she made
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: some really bad decisions. And I shouldn't think she's crazy
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: because I think we all do things for love. I'm
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: just gonna tell her, next time have an affair, don't
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: break a gun out of prison. And that's my case.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Oh man, nicely done, nicely done, very nicely done. All right, So, uh,
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: mine's thorough.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: And what does thorough mean?
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: It's longer longer than hell.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's okay, it's okay. Hopefully I made it interesting
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: enough so that and I think it'll go pretty quick.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: I did beer just to be ready, so there. So
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: it's the best of Shires. It's the worst of Shires.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: I agree, Captain would have worked. They left to Jake
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Great Dane in the in the you know, in the uniform,
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: in itself.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: I don't know, right, maybe all.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Right? You know, hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: drive a man insane. I think a famous character said
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: that once, and I'm pretty sure his name was read
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: played by Morgan Freeman in the movie shash Ank Redemption. Alternatively,
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Andy Dufframe said hope is a good thing, maybe the
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: And also get to read a Hayworth poster. Right.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: If there's anything I've learned from that movie, there are
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: stark differences in those two quotes. And honestly I never
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: thought about it until I saw them back to back.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: So I was yesterday years old when I learned that.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: When we had thought about doing this topic, you know,
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: all I could think of, was like, how prevalent could
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: prison escapes really be. I mean, we have AI, we
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: have serious technology. There's a lot of shit out there
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: to keep this from happening. We're ahead of the world, right, No.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I was a bit surprised to read that after CBS
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: dug into twenty six states, there were over eleven hundred
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: documented instances of escapes from law enforcement custody over the
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: past five years. When asked about the prevalence, double talk abounds.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Bryce Peterson, through no fault of his own, said, escapes
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: are more common and less common than you think. Escapes
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: are happening every single day. You have people leaving for
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: minimum security custody all the time, several times a day
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: for all facilities across the country. But escapes like what
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: we saw in Pennsylvania, Yeah, these more sensational escapes are
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: extremely rare. Now, Peterson is speaking about the escape of
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: thirty four year old Danielle Danilo Calvacanti, the guy who
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: scaled the wall of the prison like Friggin's spider Man
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: and led police on a hunt for two weeks. One
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: of the major reasons this happens is due to severe
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: understaffing and facilit I don't think I'm gonna call them
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: correctional facilities because they rarely do anything correctional.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Yes, I am throwing shade. So if you feel cooler,
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: the library is open.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: Am I just learning? Stephen King has something to do
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: with shots chink Redemption?
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: He wrote the book Short Stories.
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: How am I just this?
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: The Green Mile?
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Why know the Green Mile? Redemption?
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: Stand by Me? Stand by Me? Is him too?
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: Kujo?
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: Okay, sorry, I'm just like that's one of dub H's.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: He loves movies.
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: One of the best movies of all time period.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Uh so, Uh what's insane is that?
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: Well?
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: I can accept that they are, that prisoners are rounded
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: by the people who aren't the best influences. They also
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: take away prisons, They take away anything that could distract
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: them from improving, and they still can't improve people. And
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: some people are beyond improvement. Some people just want to
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: watch the world burn. But holy shit, it just they
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: won't fix this prison system and it won't be fixed,
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: and they won't stop being understaffed until we stop paying
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: states for keeping their cells full. We pay prisons per
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: full bed and it's asinine how this works, and states
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: should be paid by the empty cell working to rehabilitate
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: and improve the community and not the other way around.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: But that seemingly makes more sense, and well, we apparently
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: prefer horse pace to actual immunizations. I think it's important
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: to know, although not entirely reassuring, that most documented incidents
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: documented mind you, don't end violently. However, they can have
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: horrible and devastating outcomes. There's a case of there's the
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: case of Gonzal Lopez who escaped from a prison bus
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: like fringing Michael Myers and killed a family of five
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: during his three week freedom binge. So that is one
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: with a terrible outcome. But today, today's the day we
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: speak about one of those prison escapes. It's one of
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: those days where things they went horribly j T.
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: Can I guess which one it was?
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: What the one that I'm covering? Yes, yes, it has.
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: To be conn Air?
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Nope? What?
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: I love that movie?
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Are you covering the song?
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: However, upon Mike's very first suggestion, I almost took it seriously.
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: Core is epic.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: It's such a.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: God that the kids and the little doll.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: I mean, he's welcome to our four days in Denver.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: That's what this was.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: I'm feeling a little Denbury right now.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: So no, it's not it's not put the bunny in
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: the box.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: It's I don't get it, and that's hilarious rabbit.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: So I'm not covering con Air. But the escape of
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: the Texas seven from John B. Connolly Unit in Texas
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: on December thirteenth, two thousand was ridiculously planned and orchestrated
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: by I think it's George, but it could be Whorege.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with George Reeves, the mastermind. Before we
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: get into the escape itself, let's kind of talk just
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: a little bit about the John B. Connolly Unit, because
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: I think having a little sense of the environment and
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: what it was is important. So it's a maximum security prison,
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: I guess not for males, located in Karen's County, Texas,
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: which is full of bob cuts and angry people at
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: their coffee that's not official. Located just east of US
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: Highway one eighty one, two miles south of the city
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: of Kennedy and southeast of San Antonio, the prison has
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: around eight hundred and thirteen acres of space. It's operated
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: by the Correctional Institution's Division of Texas Department of Criminal Justice,
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: which is a mouthful, which is just what Abbott likes.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: Unit is named for former governor and US Treasury Secretary
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: John V. Connolly, Junior. If his name sounds familiar, it
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: is because he was the fellow riding with President Kennedy
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: when he was assassinated. He was the guy riding in
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: the middle jump seat. Now, so something interesting about that
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: is that he refused to accept the single bullet theory
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: that suggested that one shot pass through Kennedy's neck and
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: caused his own wounds. Publicly, of course, he agreed with
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: the Warren Commission's conclusion that Oswald acted alone, but he
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: insisted that all three shots struck occupants of the limousine.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: And I think he disagreed that Oswald was the loan shooter.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: So just just fun. You know, he was there, and
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: you know that.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: When you say prisons in Texas, there's a thing going
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: on right now because Texas prisoners are complaining because they
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: don't have air conditioning. They have cable, some of them
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: have game Boy box things whatever those little things are
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: that you play games on where Xbox PlayStation, but they
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: don't have air conditioning. I mean, guys, I will show
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: you my own only gaming that I've ever done. Oh good,
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: that game system I've.
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: Ever played on freaking epic. I don't know what game
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: it is, but that's epic.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: It has seventy something games on it mors so yeah,
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: that boxy thing, but they don't have ac.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Well priorities. This prison opened July ninety five. It's considered
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: a G one to G five security class, which is
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: essentially administrative segregation. Other than the Texas seven, other notable
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: inmates include Carlton Dotson, the Baylor Bears basketball player who
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: murdered his teammate Patrick Denahey, Bernie Tied which sounds fake,
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: but he's mortician and convicted murderer who was the subject
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: of the twenty eleven film Bernie Raymond Ayala. The Houston,
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Texas rapper better known as Lil Bing could have been
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: a bet their name there, Yeah, convicted murderer and rapper.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Total number of employees there three hundred and fifty four
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: security employees, two twenty three non security seventy six. They
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: have forty one medical and five mental contracted health employees.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: The capacity is just under twenty one hundred. I cannot
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: find anything regarding how many are actually there. But I'm
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: thinking though that even if it's a twenty four hour
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: mental and medical health care they have that available. Five
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: mental health professionals contracted is not enough for two thousand
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: or more. Tossing that out there, that made me laugh.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: It is the best search engine. Little bang is the
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: best search engine. Yeah, but we do now, I know
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: we do now.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: I mean, oh god.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: Basic human right. It's long here, but also true, It's
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: true we didn't always have it. Canada is not known
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: for their ac so.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: I we had air conditioning since I was born, and
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: that prison was built in nineteen ninety five.
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: Growing up, I was the only person in my house
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: at air conditioning because I had a job and it
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: was too hot, and I went and bought my own
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: window air conditioning units.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: See. I love that. You're that kind of person. You
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: want something, you worked for it, and you went out
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: and got.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: It, and I was the only person who actually got
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: some sleep.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: Yes, I'd wake up that my sister would be sleeping
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: on my floor because she could sleep.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: That's what I was getting ready to say. If I
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: would have been your sister, I would have been crawling
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: in there with you. But I wouldn't have slep on
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: the floor. I would have crawled in the bed and
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: put you.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: On the floor. I had a single, so there was
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: there's you on the floor.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: It's okay. I had a single for quite some time. Okay.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: So so that you know what, Sam, you stop it
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: right now, You stop it right now.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: Sam is young.
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: Yep, Wait a minute, you're what? Wow is okay.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: So let's talk about the players in this escape. George Reeves,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: he said as or he was as I said, yeah,
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: the mastermind behind the escape, and was serving eighteen consecutive
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: fifteen to life sentences for burglary, kidnapping, and aggravated robbery.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: He's a career criminal, highly intelligent with a huge ego.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: He was born in Alpaso, Texas, May sixth, nineteen seventy,
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: and he was six foot two thirty one and he
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: was described as a Beavis and butt head kind of
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: a guy.
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: That's not a comp.
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: No. He wanted to be a policeman and turned a
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: crime as one does. He's some policeman in stay in crime.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: I'm gonna say it because I know who's going there.
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: I was.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: He was raised by his grandmother and grandfather after his
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: parents divorced when he was six. He made it through
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: high school, had a fascination with guns, committed his first
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: robbery and burglary a year after graduating high school, received
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: probation for ten years. Attended University of Texas at al
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: Paso El Nero Alfaro wherever you are o, where he
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: was a general studies major in fall nineteen ninety two.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: He dropped out spring ninety three and had a short
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: lived criminal career that landed him in prison. There are
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: many similarities to his crimes. This tied him to a
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: string of robberies in El Paso where that were seen
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: in his prison breakout, but there were at least a
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: dozen he was suspected of committing in Texas, New Mexico
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: and Arizona. He should have hit up carry Lake. Committed
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: one at a radio shack in October nineteen ninety two,
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: which is suspected, but he handcuffed the salesman and robbed
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: the store of two way radios, cassettes and other stuff
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: because nineteen ninety two. Then late October ninety two, he
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: was suspected of entering Checker Auto Parts and pulled a
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: gun on a salesman. Accused of forcing a salesman to
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: remove his uniform shirt, handcuffed him, forced him into the bathroom.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: You're noticing some patterns, put on the uniform shirt, and
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: forced the store's assistant manager to open in the safe.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: Two weeks later, he did the same thing, though with
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: a larger payday. He was at a sporting sporting goods
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: store near closing time. He called an accomplice on a
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: two way radio that he stole after announcing the robbery,
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: and he and the accomplice handcuffed all of the employees
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: except one. I think they got into Toby's truck. A
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: lot of handcuffs forced the store manager to empty the
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: safe for him. It took five ninety five in in case,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: as well as fifty eight guns. Didn't touch anything during
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: the robbery, but guns. Yes, it's like one house. Yeah yeah,
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: I'll say.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: You know this happened when Samantha was minus three.
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: Yes, thank you. I was gonna bring it up, but
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: you did it for me. Thank you so much. He uh,
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: he actually didn't touch anything during the robbery, but he
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: forced the employee to pick up and pack the items
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: there were, right. There were more robberies as well. Of course,
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: the final one was at a Toys r US store,
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: which did why age? Well, I don't. He somehow missed
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: one of the employees when he was rounding up everyone.
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: Per usual, they escaped a lot of money. There was
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: an Amazon then, So you know.
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: You guys don't have Toys r Us anymore, do you?
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: We have one at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport. They
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: opened it either last year or the year before. So
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: we do have a Toys r Us and if it
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: goes well, the plan is to open more and bring Jeffrey.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: To to ruff Back.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: It's it's it's been in Canada for the whole time.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: Sorry, why you know what? Yeah, yeah he did. He
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: needed Woody and buzz Lightyear. Actually absolutely everybody needs a Woody,
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: like Anthony the pole Vulter.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: He shouldn't have had that woody.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: Correct, correct, This is what happens when you wear that
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: really comfortable fabric that's tight.
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: Can I interrupt you real quick? I just saw that tonight,
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: but released information that I didn't know we were releasing yet.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Oh but it's not. Nobody else knows about it. It's fine.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Uh yeah, well that wasn't and I thought that was
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: my fault. Uh though he somehow missed one of the
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: employees when rounding up everyone. Per usual, they escaped and
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: called the police. Police arrived, Revas and his accomplice held
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: them at bay for more than three hours by using
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: the employees as hostages. Yeeha Swat stormed the store, found
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: Revas wearing a blonde wig. It wasn't me, everybody hiding
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: in an air conditioning duct. A court appointed psychiatrist said, quote,
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: he demonstrates an unusual degree of interest, creativity, and intensity
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: in his craft. He is confident and arrogant. He is
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: a mastermind and a leader. He has no conscience, and
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: he he does not speak the truth. He he sounds
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: like somebody criminal minds would go after.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: So six yeah and JT. I bet you I could
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: say that he did not look as good and that
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: blonde wig as you do?
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: You stop it, thank you. It's my Penelope Garcia cosplay.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: We're very hot.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: You cut it out, all right. So the next person's
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: Michael Rodriguez, and I will let you know. I don't
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: get as in depth to everybody, but some of the
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: key players I do. Michael Rodriguez was serving life sentence
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: for hiring a hitman to kill his wife. So there's that.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: He was born in San Antonio October twenty ninth, nineteen
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: sixty two. He ran his own restaurant, dressed fashionably, wore
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: a Rolex, had a classic yellow Mercedes Benz. He he
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: attended private high school, Catholic High School. Investigating. The investigating
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: detective was actually an old classmate of his. Is awesome.
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: Rodriguez worked his way up to owning the Taco House restaurant,
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: and it was an instant's success. By ninety two, he
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: and his wife, Teresa were living well, and Rodriguez decided
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: he wanted to become a teacher, so he started taking
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: courses at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. A
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: young woman caught his eye. He started writing letters to her,
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: describing himself as a lonely widower, a Hallmark to others,
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: his brother Mark, mostly Mark, not Hallmark, but his brother Mark.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: He complained about how his wife had gotten fat after
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: they were married, and he started looking for ways to
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: get rid of her.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: That's one way to get murdered.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: Because she gained weight.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: Don't ever call somebody fat end of story, because I
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: will dropkick you.
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: I'm fat.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: With a pH mother trucker.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: Don't say that about my friend.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Just say that you're fluffy, very fluffy.
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: Or Ash says about me, I'm soft.
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: You're not soft.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: You know what I say about Mike. He's awesome to hug.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: He is kinda well, no, because I try to respect
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: those boundaries. And I have to tell you your wife could
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: probably hurt me.
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: Oh no, with her property huggers.
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: She yeah, I don't want Amber on my bad side.
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: Hu, there's no messing with.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: So Mark was gonna help his brother, and murder became
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: an option. At the time, Mark was a cocaine dealer
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: at the lower end of the spectrum of that that
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: that deal. Theresa was twenty or sorry wrong thirty numbers
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: are hard and had two one hundred and fifty thousand
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: dollars life insurance policies in her name, with Rodriguez as
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: the beneficiary. Mark said, I can find someone, and they did.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: Roland Ruiz twenty x con just out of jail, agreed
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: to kill Teresa for a grand total of two grand.
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: Two great.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: That is not enough, and that is the difference between
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: you and them. I usually charged thirty five cents, but
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: it's whatever. October nineteen ninety two, Michael and Teresa went
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: to the movies. He pulled the Mercedes into the garage.
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Ruiz ran up to the passenger side of the car
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: and shot Teresa one time in the head. As she
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: opened the car door to get out. Ruiz fled. Teresa
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: died almost instantly. Now, Ruiz's mother got suspicious because he
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: was buying new clothing and other items, so she kicked
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: him out of the house, and soon his money was gone.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: The police were onto the three men within days. They learned,
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: among other things, that you guys didn't know you were
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: getting like ten cases in one, did you. It's just
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: so much fun to learn about the stories.
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: I I my poor brain. He had money while he
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: lived at home, but then he moved out and he
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: no longer had money.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: So Ruiz, the one who earned the two thousand dollars
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: for killing Teresa, started buying new clothing other items, and
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: he spent it all. Yeah, his mom got suspicious, kicked
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: him out of the house, and then he lost all
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: of his money.
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: Two thousand dollars ain't gonna go far.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: No, the police learned, among other things, no now that
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: Rodriguez had gone out drinking with friends on the night
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: of his wife's funeral, something a morning husband wouldn't likely do.
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: Well, I don't know, I'd go out drink. And I
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: think if my wife and died.
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: Blackout drunk, why wouldn't you go out and get blackout?
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: I mean, my friends would show up at my house
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: with a case of wine and just let me drink it.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: And is ill.
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: I didn't know my name, So I'm sorry. I am
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: going to just say tell those police officers, you cannot
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: predict how people will act if you haven't been in
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: their shoes.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: Oh, that's true, and that's fair.
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: In getting drunks, that's how some people deal with their issues.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: But in this case they were right, Well, it must
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: have been.
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: A female police officer.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: That Oh no, I don't know, No, it was his
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: Well maybe I don't know. They also learned about the
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: letters that he had written to the young woman at
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: the university claiming to be a widower before the fact,
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: and then they learned about Ruiz, who broke down and
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: confessed after being confronted about Thereesa's murder. After being confronted
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: by the police with Ruiz's confession, Michael Rodriguez also confessed
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: to the plot to murder his wife who Joseph Garcia
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: serving fifty years for the murder of a man during
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: a home invasion robbery. Originally convicted of murder for killing
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: Miguel Luna in ninety six during a drunken altercation. He
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: was employed as a maintenance worker at a San Antonio
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: airport hangar. He enjoyed drinking after work on his days off. He,
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: Miguel Luna, and another friend were on their way home
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: after spending much of the day in a bar, drinking
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: as one does. Garcia was going to drop Luna off first,
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: but Luna gave the incorrect directions to his home and
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: Garcia got lost. There's no ways in ninety six. Garcia
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: and Luna began to argue. Garcia pulled over and stopped
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: the car. Luna attacked. Garcia, grabbed the car keys and
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: ran off down the street. Garcia chased after Luna pulled
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: out a knife while he was running. He caught up
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: to Luna, tackled him in the courtyard of an apartment complex,
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: stabbed Luna with a knife repeatedly, according to witnesses, as
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: he yelled quote die motherfucker, die over and over a
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: nice that not nice? Correct all nineteen stab wounds were
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: not sixteen of which were in his chest and back,
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: all for poor directions.
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: And you said they didn't have ways? Did they not
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: have ways? To look at the map?
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: Google maps?
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: Google Maps. It's like an app. Okay, yes, like one.
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: How was he supposed to do his way if he
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: didn't have a map.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: I'm gonna workshop that joke. We'll get back to it
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: and then I'll say Google Maps and we'll be fine.
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: iPhone of you there right, I don't know problem. Oh,
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: Randy Halpren, No, you're fine. Randy Halpren was serving thirty
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: years for injury to a child. He was born to
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: abusive parents in m Kinney, Texas. September thirteenth, seventy seven,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: He and his younger brother were removed from their home
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: by CPS and eighty three were placed in foster homes.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: There was a kind hearted couple who owned an electronics
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: business adopted both the boys. He was known as an
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: intelligent young kid. By thirteen, he was having problems with reality.
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Police said quote. One of the most significant problems was
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: that he thought aliens were going to be landing. He
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: took maps marked landing sites and so forth. He wasn't unintelligent.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: He could form a plan and execute it. His adoptive
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: parents took action good and sent him to a boarding
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: school in Kentucky, probably less good. At first, he was good.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: He kept his grades up, but things changed fast. He
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: got in trouble for being in the girl's bathroom with
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: a girl once snuck out. How dare he snuck out
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: of his dorm once by tying sheets together and climbing out. Impressive,
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: But he got worse Christmas in ninety five he went
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: and stayed at the home of another student and did
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: some shoplifting, put on school probation, carved his in some
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: girl's name into brand new wooden benches. Oh the horror.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: He was expelled and his father said he couldn't come home.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: Despite saying he couldn't come home, his parents helped him
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: get an apartment in Kentucky because apparently they have hearts
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: the size of elephants, not in an unhealthy way but figuratively,
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: and assisted him financially, But he cashed the checks he
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: was receiving and began living on the streets. He returned
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: to Texas yeah began studying, staying in a homeless shelter
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: in fort Worth, befriended a woman with an infant, soon
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: became acquainted with others, pulled their money, and all moved
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: out of the shelf, turn into an apartment on the
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: west side. Hal Brynn never thought of whether he liked
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: kids or not, but living with the child, he soon
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: found out he didn't. The crying got on his nerves,
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: so talking did no good, so he resorted physical violence.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: And I'm not going to go into detail on that
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: any further because unnecessary to this story. Larry Harper was
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: serving fifty years for aggravated sexual assault of a child
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: born in Danville, Illinois, September tenth, sixty three. I'm pretty
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: sure Danville, Illinois where Dick Van Dyke was born too.
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: Former honor student tried to follow in the footsteps of
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: his command sergeant major father, who served Army Special Forces
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: in Vietnam, which just reminds me of the Death or
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: King of the Hill.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: Huh, what was his name? Major? What Major father?
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: No, his sergeant major Dad? His dad was a sergeant major.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: Is a fort structure of a sentence.
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: Like major father reported for duty.
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: Yeah, so his dad sounds like the dad from King
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: of the Hill. If you know that show the older guy,
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: who's the Vietnam Vet. I'll tell you what. He earned
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: an associate's degree in military science, joined the Army Reserve,
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: went through airborne and infantry training, and informally participated in
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: green beray training exercises. He still fell short of expectations
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: and was disappointed he didn't follow in his dad's footsteps.
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: His mother divorced his father when he was ten, completely
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: severed ties with her family. He lived with their dad
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: on militaryitary basis. His dad wasn't available and was committed
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: to his military career, so they were essentially abandoned. He
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: attended the University of Texas at El Paso in eighty six,
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: majoring in marketing. He held the status of an honor student.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: In the latter half of nineteen ninety three, he broke
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: up with his girlfriend and started drinking heavily, and about
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: the same time a string of rapes began near the
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: university campus. He was horrible. The things he said to
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: the victims was terrible. On the thirty first of October
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: and ninety three, he was caught in the act of voyeurism,
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: confronted by a security guard. Harper was carrying a screwdriver,
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: a pair of scissors, and two rolls of electrical tape.
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: He escaped going to jail. Then three nights later he
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: was seen peeping again, still not prosecuted. Four months later,
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: March twenty third, ninety four, returned to the woman's apartment
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: from just before. This connected him to the other rape
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: cases as well, and doctor Gold says quote, he had
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: nothing but rejection from women. He's one sick puppy, not
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: the usual jail inmate, the kind who was cocky and
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: proud of his crimes. He is extremely depressed. It is chronic,
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: serious depression. It's a whole lot of emotions going on
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: in that one.
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: Some stuff he needed to deal with and he did, for.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: Sure, I think so. Yeah.
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: Patrick Murphy Junior, fifty year sentence for aggravated sexual assault.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: These guys are real winners, by the way. Born in Dallas,
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: October thirty, first, nineteen sixty one. Former construction worker who
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: did a stint in the US Army, was dishonorably discharged
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: for continuously going a wall. He was a normal, occasionally
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: mischievous sophomore in high school. By eighty four, he had
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: become a rapist. His victim a twenty three year old
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: divorced woman he knew from high school and who was
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: living with her mother. It started as a simple burglary
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: trigger alert. The young woman was awakened by a noise,
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: got up to investigate, saw a man in the living
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: room of her mother's home, face covered. Grabbed the woman
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: when he realized he was seen, and held a knife
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: to her throat. Woman submitted to his demands and let
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: him cover her head with a pillowcase. He then proceeded
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: to rape her. When she was certain he left, she
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: woke up her mother and told her that they called
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: the police. Reported after his arrest, she positively identified his
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: voice from a voice lineup, and that was enough for
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: the jury, along with her testimony. Finally, and I know
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: you've been waiting for. Finally. Donald Newberry serving ninety nine
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: year sentence for aggravated robbery born May eighteen sixty two
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: in Albuquerque was a three time felon with a record
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: in Texas that dates back to nineteen eighty one. He
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: had the longest rapsheet of them all. Went to prison
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: for armed robbery in Austin in nineteen eighty one, served
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: a few years and was paroled. Convicted of the same
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: a second time in eighty seven in Austin. Prime suspect
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: in around twelve other armed robberies that included hotels, cab driver,
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: two surplus stores, a bus was eventually released. In the
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: nineties met a woman moved in with her had to
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: end her two kids outside of Bustin. It kind of
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: seemed like he was making an effort, but he couldn't
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: find work. Ended up being a laborer for an ex
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: felon and that was a violation of his parole regulations
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: and he was brought in on a parole violation. He
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: was not known to drink or jew drugs, but he
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: just couldn't avoid the bad visions. July eighteenth, ninety seven,
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: he wielded a shot off shotgun, walked into a Lakina
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Inn in Austin, and robbed the desk clerk of a
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: grand total of sixty five dollars. He was given the
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: moniker after this and the other robberies as the I
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: thirty five robber. He was obviously he was caught and arrested.
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: Well, I make bad decisions. They open another beer. I
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: don't know.
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: I know my bad decisions usually mean I'm opening more al.
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: Yeah, look this one right here, all right.
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: So, in terms of planning, George Reevas, the leader, meticulously
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: planned the escape. He later revealed this in his statements
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: during the trial. He said, quote, we spent months studying
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: the layout of the prison, observing guard routines and finding
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: weaknesses in the security system. We knew we had to
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: act swiftly and decisively to succeed those routines. It never
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: have a routine, Always change it up, do the best
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: you can to constantly throw off anybody. I'm just saying.
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: Absolutely, I'm like just saying, uh.
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: And in terms of an execution of escape, this happened
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: December thirteenth, two thousand. Get ready for a timeline. Eleven
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: twenty am guards and supervisors returned twenty inmates that were
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: assigned to the maintenance department to their housing areas and
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: went to lunch. Revas was counting on this because it
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: was part of the routine. He and the group convinced
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: a maintenance department supervisor to allow them to stay behind
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: to wax and seal the floors, convinced the same guy
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: to allow them to take their lunch in a picnic
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: spread in the maintenance area and use food They purchased
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: at the commissary, and he allowed it. Another Rodriguez was
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: assigned to the inside yard squad that day. He had
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: previously made an appointment to visit the law library that
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: particular morning, he checked out it oh nine and was
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: allowed through the gate at a gaining access to the
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: maintenance area after lying that he was assigned to pick
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: up trash. He spent the rest of the morning sitting
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: on a bench outside the maintenance department. No one but
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: the escapees knew that he was the lookout Jeez. Eleven
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: thirty am, maintenance guy was sitting at his desk in
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: the office when Reeves got his attention and saying that
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: he was needed in the warehouse. He got up, didn't
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: question it. He was asked what they should do with
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: a piece of equipment, and as he leaned down, one
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: of the inmates with an axe handle rushed over and
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: hit him in the head. He was yeah, he was
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: briefly unconsciousness, no, not fun briefly uncomonscious, then struggled with
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: the inmates as he regained consciousness, but Garcia had a
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: handmade knife shive to the supervisor's neck. Garcia said quote
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: A few more years a few more years to our
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: sentences don't mean anything to us. Will kill you if
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: we need to. Inmates removed his pants and after he
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: stopped struggling, they tied his hands and legs. Yeah, that
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: gagged him and put a pillowcase over his head, carrying
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: him to the electrical room at the back of the warehouse.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: They forced him to lay face down on the floor.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: They stole his glasses, watch, keys, and wallet with credit
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: cards and thirty dollars of CA in cash. They took
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: two blue Texas Department of Criminal Justice coats from his office,
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: a camouflage cap and a blue ski cap. His keys
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: let them gather pairs of wire cutting plyers, two hacksaws,
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: a bolt cutter, and a utility knife. Rodriguez then was
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: allowed inside eleven forty five. Noticed this has like been
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: twenty five minutes or something like that. Two folks, another
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: supervisor and officer returned and sat down at their desks
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: in the maintenance office. Inmates walked into their office and
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: talked to them. To catch them off guard, haha, pun intended.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: They divided the men's attention. Revas grabbed one and Garcia
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: attacked the other. They forced one to the floor or
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: removed his uniform in shoes, bound his hands and legs
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: with ties and duct tape, placed a gag in his
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: mouth after hitting him in the nose because he wouldn't
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: open his mouth, took his watch, keys, ID, card, sixty
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: five dollars cash, carried him to the electrical room. At
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: the same time, the other gentleman was taken to the floor.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: Garcia put a sharp pointed object in his left ear
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: and threatened to push it all the way in. They
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: took his jeans and boots, keys, a pocket knife, and
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: a wallet containing ID and sixty dollars cash, bound him,
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: put him in the closet as well, slamming his head
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: against a wall, knocking him unconscious. Twelve pm, also known
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: as noon popularly, two more were finished with their lunch
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: and heading back. They arrived and revis approached. One said
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: the first person they attacked was in the warehouse and
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: needed him. He didn't say they were attacked, but he
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: said he needed them.
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: They didn't say attack, did they.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: Okay, Now they did the same thing with the motor
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: and the axe handle that whole ploy. He went unconscious,
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: and then when he regained they apparently learned because he
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: woke to something sharp against his neck. Revas said, this
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: is no joke. We go home and you go home
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: or not. It's up to you air yep. They removed
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: his clothing wallet and was taken captive. Twelve twenty pm
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: seven prisoners working on carrying out the escape plan for
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: an hour. The rec Program specialist Jerry McDowell, which that
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: just sounds fun. Sounds fun to have that name. I'm
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: Jerry McDowell, came in and wondered why they were alone. Hello.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: They gave him some excuse, and since he had no
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: reason to disbelieve gw uh, he believed them and asked Yeah.
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: He wondered why they were alone. They gave him an excuse,
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: He believed it and asked them to check out a
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: tool and uh. Asked to check out a toolbox. So
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: the rec Program specialist wants a toolbox. He received one
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: via The inmates signed the log, wrote in the time,
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: turned and walked out with the toolbox. So nothing to
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: see here, I guess. Twelve twenty five three more supervisors
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: came in after lunch. They paid the inmates no mind.
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: One went into the electrical shop, the other went to
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: the office, and the third went to the warehouse. The
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: inmates took them one at a time. Twelve forty another
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: supervisor returned from escorting two inmates from eighteen dorm to
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: the department for work detail. They attacked him from behind
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: and subdued him using the same tactics.
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: I'm gonna say, they have too many chiefs and not
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: enough Indians. That is a lot of supervisors.
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: See yeah. So Murphy went into the office with the
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: new inmates who showed up and said, quote, we're having
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: a spread in the back. Why don't you guys come
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: back and fix yourselves a plate. They took out both
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: of the inmates at the same time, in the same manner,
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: with a little more struggle. Twelve forty five correctional officer
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: walks in to check out a hitch for his utility vehicle.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: He needed one to haul lumber. Was a bit confused
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: when he entered the office and saw on the inmates present.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: He knew that was against prison policies, but it happened
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: all the time in one form or another, so he
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: wasn't that worried. They did the exact same thing. He
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: thought something up, He thought something was up, but before
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: he could do anything, they all attacked him and forced
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: him to the floor. One PM, another supervisor returns from
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: the boiler room and was accompanied by another inmate. They
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: entered noticed the maintenance truck was pulled into the shop
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: area where the overhead door was closed and locked. He
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: thought it was strange, and as he was looking around,
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: he was approached by Newberry. Newberry ended up behind him
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: with a knife to his throat. They did the same
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: with the inmate. They then secured the electrical room door
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: from the outside. One oh five PM, correctional officer assigned
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: to the prison central control area telephoned the maintenance department
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: and asked to speak with the supervisor. It was time
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: for one oh. Oh, it was time for one yeah,
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: it was time for one of the dozen daily head counts.
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: One of the other inmates came to the phone to
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: impersonate the supervisor. The central control officer advised the man
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: he thought was Patrick mo mock Semgamba, I'm not quite
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: sure how to say his last name. There's a lot
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: of consonants in there, that it was time to call
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: the lieutenant for the count. When the inmate placed the call,
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: he was careful to include the inmates who had been
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: subdued with the prison employees, so he remembered to do
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: a full count who did not work in the maintenance
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: department with Reevas and the other five to ensure that
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: it was it would balance out yeah. Correctional Officer Lou
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: Gipps that gate, that gate and radio tower received a
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: telephone call from someone who identified him self as a
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: supervisor in the maintenance department. The back gate picket is
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: a narrow fenced area reinforced with razor wire that leads
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: to the back gate and the outside perimeter road. Informed
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: by the caller that maintenance employees would be entering the
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: area to install monitors in the picket zone. The telephone call,
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: as well as the description of the work order, seemed
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: legitimate to Gibbs, because he recalled that similar work order
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: had been recently performed at one of the other picket
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: zones in a different area of the prison, and he
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: did not question it. Three inmates stayed in the maintenance area,
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: One made calls to the other prison areas, one stayed lookout,
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: one quickly built. One quickly built a plywood and cardboard
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: shelter in the back of the truck that would hold
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: the other inmate.
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: One.
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: Another officer received the same call as the one in
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: the radio tower. He was assigned to the back gate
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: sally port was told a maintenance crew would be installing
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: monitors at the back gate area, so he didn't question it,
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: and one of the captives made an attempt to the
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: central control made an attempt to call the central control
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: officer UH and let them know that something was wrong
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: by setting off a fire alarm from the electrical room.
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: The officer made many attempts to contact the department by telephone,
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: but there was no answer. He assumed it was just
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: a false alarm and silenced it on the control panel
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: and didn't go and investigate it.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: To see these supervisors were not the brightest crayons in
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: the box.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: No, So then Revs and Halprin were dressed in civies
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: and showed up at the back gate picket area in
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: the department's utility vehicle along with two inmates in prison uniforms.
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: They climbed off the vehicle, followed the and followed procedure
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: using the sally port to walk to the pedestrian gate.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: They expected that they expected them, so the walkthrough gate
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: was opened and they were allowed to enter the fenced
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: area behind the gatehouse. Then the vehicle cole gate was
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: opened and and the gator went through. Uh. The officer
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: didn't check the men's identification, violating prison policy. Of course,
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: climbed out. They climbed out and brought monitors in electrical
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: wire as they went into the gatehouse. Because they brought
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: it to be legit, they allowed the two inmates, dressed
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: in prison whites to enter into the gatehouse. The inmates
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: looked started looking at an electrical outlet in the office
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: near the officer's desk. The telephone on the desk rang
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: and how Print answered. The call was placed by one
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: of the inmates who stayed behind them. The inmate posed
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: as the maintenance supervisor to make sure the work detail
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: made it Alprint handed the phone to the officer and
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: relayed the message. Uh. The officer was off guard, which
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: delayed the officer further in asking for identification. The officer
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: leaned over to take the call.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: Hmm, okay, asking for identification your prison guard or super
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: at the prison. These people have been in prison a while.
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: Shouldn't you remember what their face looks like?
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: I mean, it's like twenty one hundred of them. So
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: and and that guy worked in a gatehouse, so probably.
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: Not okay, I know, being behind.
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: Yeah I am. There's still a lot of stupid shit
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: that happened during this though, so that's the only defense.
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: That I have.
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: The officer leaned over to take the call and Reeves
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: grabbed him, put him in a headlock, took him to
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: the floor. They took his uniform pants and shoes, bound him,
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: taped his mouth, and carried him into the restroom, securing
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: the door from the outside. Alprin identified himself as the
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: maintenance worker to the officer in the tower. He thought
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: it was the same person he saw earlier, and he
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: opened the outside gate and allowed Halprin to leave the area.
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: Then he opened the picket door, which allowed Halprind to
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: enter the tower. As Halprin climbed the stairs, the telephone rang.
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: It was a quote maintenance supervisor. Alprin was handed the phone,
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: removed his jacket and placed it on the chair in
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: the tower, and grabbed a three fifty seven caliber revolver
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: that was just you know, laying on the desk. He
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: pointed the gun at grips or gips. Yeah. The officer
- 1:48:13Speaker 3: Murphy yelled up at the tower to open the gate.
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: Halprin didn't know how to operate the controls. Gipps complied
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: teaching him the controls for fear of his life. They
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: took Gips downstairs in the tower because that's where the
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: guns were stored. Halprin used his belt, the officer's belt,
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: and shoe strings to tie him up. They collected the
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: following guns Remington twelve gage pump action shotgun with fourteen
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: rounds of buckshot, fourteen Smith and Wesson Model sixty seven
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: three fifty seven magnum revolvers with two hundred and ten
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: rounds of ammunition. They called the maintenance department and told
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: accomplices that it was safe to leave. Halprin Murphy, the
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: other inmate, carried the weapons and ammunition from the guard
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: tower and then took the truck and drove out the
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: prison's back gate.
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: These guys are not stupid.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: No, not at all so in terms of the call.
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: Gipps was able to free himself and ran up the stairs.
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: He saw the prisoners in the white truck and use
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: the radio to request assistance. The warden heard the call.
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: He was concerned and embarrassed as he heard the call
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: with an outsider bottom line with the hour. Within the hour,
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: every law enforcement officer available was mobilized and on the lookout.
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: That included the Carnes Court Sheriff's Department and sorry, Carnes County,
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: Karen's County, I don't know, Bariff's Department, and.
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: The Texas County.
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: Yes, that's it, Carnes County. Yeah. They had a white
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: prison bus drop any officer, drop officers from the prison
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: one thousand feet apart along Texas Highway ninety nine to
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: watch and comb the area. Motorists were stopped along every
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: road that cut through the area. The white the prison
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: truck was found at four PM abandoned behind a Walmart
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: and Kennedy. Two vehicles were present in the in the
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: ATM videotape they were able to obtain when the prison
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: truck arrived and they both left afterwards. Vague descriptions of
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: those vehicles were circulated all around. It has wheels. It
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: was the only thing they had if it was them
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: and not a coincidence they had outside help. Either way,
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: Their trail vanished at Walmart because of course it did.
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: So.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: Here are some quotes. Everybody that we can get a
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: hold of, every lawman in the state, of Texas is
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: looking for these guys, said Larry Todd, a spokesman for
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: the TDCJ. Well, you certainly consider all the inmates armed
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: and dangerous. We know they can become desperate. They might
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: they may have to split up. They may have gone
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: in pairs. We don't know. What it tells us is
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: that the escape appeared to be well planned, from the
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: indie out of the unit to their arrival in the community,
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: Todd said. As Todd said that the investigators were looking
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: into every possible possibility regarding any help that the escapes
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: might have had, including possible help from friends and relatives. Quote,
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: right now, we are coming in the state for these
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: people's relatives, their associates. They are former places of employment,
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: any place they frequented in the free world. I just
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: always thought that we were rocking in the free world.
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: But that's fine. This is when Castleberry Castleberry if TDCJ
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: they took people hostage, tied them up, and left them
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: in the locked in a room. Put your stopwatch on it.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: By the time the front office declared, by God it
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: was an escape and sounded the alarm, they were gone.
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: They were probably outside the perimeter. Before the perimeter was
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: set up. We've got seven opportunities. Someone's gonna make a mistake,
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: and if we get one of them, we might we
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: may be on the road to catch all of them,
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: even if they've broken up. Yeah. Castleberry remained optimistic that
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: the seven escapees will be caught soon. He cited that
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: out of two hundred and seventy five inmates who have
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: escaped from Texas prisons over the past sixteen years, only
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: one has not been caught. These are not stats you
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: brag about. And the man fled to Mexico where there's
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: no extradition treaty with the US. Quote. It may be
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: a week, a month, or three months, but they're always back,
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: Castleberry said. Although the cops didn't know it yet, the
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: Texas seven had spent their first night of freedom in
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: San Antonio, a little over sixty miles up the road
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: from Kennedy. They had likely taken the most direct route
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: US one to eighty one to get there. I promise
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: I'm almost done. I know it's detailed, but it's a
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: prison escape with seven people. December nineteen, six days later,
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: for the inmates checked into the n Econo Lodge and
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: Farmers Branch, Texas and Dallas sport Worth area. Under assumed names,
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: they decided to rob a sporting goods store in Irving
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: called Ashman's December twenty fourth. You know, I see every
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: time I say a name, I'm just waiting for Terry
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: to respond. Is like I recognize that.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: I can remember I lived there until I came here.
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: I know. So December twenty fourth, two thousand, they entered
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: the store bound and gaged the staff Merry Christmas and
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: stole forty guns and sets of ammunition, including seventy thousand
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: dollars from the safe. An ex employee in her car
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: outside the store saw the commotion inside and called the police.
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: They have like one hundred and fifty guns now, maybe
- 1:53:40Speaker 4: even closer to two hundred if I.
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: Did math, I know, yeah, I know, math, so Aubrey
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: Wright Hawkins, Irving police officer responded. When he arrived at
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: the scene, he was immediately ambushed, was shot eleven times,
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: was run over by the convicts as they fled the scene.
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: He died at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas after his arrival.
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: He was on the force and Irving for five years,
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: and he was married and had a son. After his murder,
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: there was a one hundred thousand dollar reward offered to
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: whoever could get the criminals. They climbed to five hundred
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: thousand before the six surviving inmates were apprehended after an
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: episode of Sorry. After an episode of America's Most Wanted
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: on January twentieth, two thousand and one, multiple people called
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: in with sightings of the suspects at Coach Light Motel
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: in RV park in Woodland Park, Colorado. They tried to
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: pass themselves off as missionaries, playing loud Christian music with
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: an earshot of their neighbors. Still not a drag queen.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: The Opaso County Sheriff's Office, Colorado and Teller County Deputy
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: swat team found Garcia, Rodriguez, and Rivas in a jeep
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: Cherokee in the RV park and followed them to a
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: nearby guest, where they were arrested. They then found hap, Halprin,
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: and Harper in an RV. Halprind surrendered peacefully, but Harper
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: was dead after a standoff. He shot himself in the
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: chest with a pistol. The other four were taken into custody. Yeah, well, listen,
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: they couldn't Joel, they couldn't go to Joel Ostein's church
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: because he doesn't even allow hurricane survivors to go there, so.
- 1:55:25Speaker 7: Doesn't strictly by accident.
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: So did they steal them RV's from people or did
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: they prepay and already have them RV's there.
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: It's a great question. I don't know. They did steal
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: seventy thousand dollars from that that place, so who knows
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: them there? They you know, it's a it's a fine
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: line for me between Texas accent and Sandy the squirrel
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: from SpongeBob. So all right, I.
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: Think I just got called a squirrel.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: Dang it, dang it, SpongeBob ah Man. January twenty third.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: Three days later, the FBI got information in the last
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: two Newberry and Murphy. They were said to be hiding
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: in a holiday inn in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They made
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: a deal which allowed them to make live TV appearances
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: before they were arrested. What a deal. January twenty fourth,
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: Eric Singer, not of Kiss fame, but a local television anchorman,
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: was taken into the hotel, where he interviewed them by
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: telephone well on camera. The two denounced the criminal justice
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: system in Texas and Newberry said, and they said, quote,
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: the system is as corrupt as we are. Not wrong,
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: but also probably not the way to put it out
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: there to say not.
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: Wrong, but you might want to rethink that statement.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: So they figured out who the hell help them? At
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: the walmart In eight, Patsy Gommez and Raoul Rodriguez, the
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: parents of Michael Rodriguez, were indicted for helping the Texas Seven.
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: George Reevas was the first to go to trial. He
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: was convicted sentenced to death. The other five were brought
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: to trial, convicted and sentenced to death. Rodriguez was the
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: first of the six living members to be executed August fourteenth,
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: two thousand and eight. George Revas was executed February twenty ninth,
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: twenty twelve. Donald Newberry February fourth, fifteen. Joseph Garcia December fourth, eighteen,
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: the last two still on death row, neither as an
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: execution date. Murphy was scheduled twice for execution. The US
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: Supreme Court gave him a last minute reprieve. They said
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: that he was denied his request to have a Buddhist
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: priest in the execution room with him. He was given
- 1:57:46Speaker 3: a second execution date, but it was stayed by the U. S.
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: District Court for the Southern District of Texas a few
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: days before to decide whether his religious discrimination lawsuit had
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: any merit. Halprin was scheduled, but that was stayed by
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: the Texas Court of Criminal Heels due to issues of
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: racial and religious discrimination from his trial. Judge Halprin is Jewish,
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: and the judge Vickers Vic cunning Cunningham allegedly referred to
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: him as a quote Kike and a fucking Jew and
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: said that jew should be shut down because they have
- 1:58:17Speaker 3: all the money.
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: He said. The judge said this on the bench, because
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: if so, the court reporter would have that in the
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: little thingy they do.
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: I don't know if it was on the bench or
- 1:58:28Speaker 3: in in another form of I mean it was wrong munication.
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I mean overall, what a doozy. Uh, I
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: need a nap.
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: I mean, Texas has a lot of racist people.
- 1:58:48Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: I mean I am racist against stupidity. Yeah yeah, make
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: you laugh, No, I mean, yess, Okay, keep going.
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: Wait what did you say? Sorry, I was handling something too.
- 1:59:14Speaker 3: I'm sure in the back end, I'm sure. Yea, my
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: son's not involved. Nope, Nope, nope, yep, what I don't know?
- 1:59:35Speaker 5: Sure?
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: Quit Anyways, that's it. I need an app That's that's
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: the end of that. I know that it was long.
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: I knew that it took an hour or whatever it took.
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: But the thing is is that that is a case,
- 1:59:51Speaker 3: that is an escape that truly deserves a movie. It does,
- 1:59:57Speaker 3: And honestly, these guys could have just put all of
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: that looking intelligence and motivation into something constructive. We wouldn't
- 2:00:07Speaker 3: have to you guys wouldn't have to deal with uh,
- 2:00:10Speaker 3: you know, whatever you're dealing with now.
- 2:00:14Speaker 4: But I think it's fair to say that some of
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: them were dealing whether it was mental issues or trauma
- 2:00:23Speaker 4: from their life. And they're males, so they don't mature
- 2:00:31Speaker 4: as fast as females, So if you think about it,
- 2:00:37Speaker 4: they were still very immature and their brains weren't finished.
- 2:00:41Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not bite what they did was right,
- 2:00:48Speaker 4: but I'm just saying if they would have maybe gotten
- 2:00:51Speaker 4: some help before they got so far past that line,
- 2:00:55Speaker 4: they might have had a chance. Because they were not stupid.
- 2:00:59Speaker 4: I have to tell you that that was a pretty
- 2:01:00Speaker 4: dang good plan.
- 2:01:05Speaker 3: It was. It was a very good plan, very good plan.
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: I there, they were just missing the poster of readA Hayworth.
- 2:01:15Speaker 3: They wouldn't far less death if there was just a poster.
- 2:01:19Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying. And I'm Morgan Freeman.
- 2:01:23Speaker 4: I mean, all I know is I'm beginning to think
- 2:01:26Speaker 4: in the Texas Department of Criminal whatever, criminal Justice, I
- 2:01:32Speaker 4: think maybe they give out the title supervisor like the
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: banking industry does vps, because in banking everybody gets a
- 2:01:40Speaker 4: VP title. Because they were not supervising anything.
- 2:01:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know as well, just a failure across
- 2:01:52Speaker 3: the board. And I hope that I didn't look further
- 2:01:56Speaker 3: past it, but I hope that they were freaking investigated
- 2:01:59Speaker 3: for their film.
- 2:02:02Speaker 4: It's Texas, sweetheart, do not think that.
- 2:02:05Speaker 5: I know.
- 2:02:06Speaker 3: I'm sorry. My hope was showing her.
- 2:02:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I cover it up is Texas? Yeah, well that
- 2:02:14Speaker 4: was one because that case is insane, and hearing someone's
- 2:02:21Speaker 4: take on it not from Texas was kind of cool.
- 2:02:26Speaker 3: It's a it's a piece of work.
- 2:02:29Speaker 4: It's a doozy. The only other prison escape that I
- 2:02:33Speaker 4: know of where that many people work together was the
- 2:02:36Speaker 4: Alcatraz where they made like brass out of raincoats and stuff.
- 2:02:42Speaker 3: Because whether you whether that they made it or not.
- 2:02:45Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean getting seven people together to work
- 2:02:49Speaker 4: on teamwork when you're in prison. I mean that in
- 2:02:53Speaker 4: itself is somewhat impressive to me. Of course, it doesn't
- 2:02:56Speaker 4: much to impress me.
- 2:02:59Speaker 3: Well here's here's here is a hint for everybody. One
- 2:03:03Speaker 3: of those guys that escaped Alcatraz.
- 2:03:11Speaker 4: Is that why he is? That why he has the
- 2:03:13Speaker 4: big poni on his face.
- 2:03:19Speaker 5: I mean, when I was a child, I went to Alcatraz,
- 2:03:21Speaker 5: so I did leave.
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: That's that is the best looking mercan I've ever seen.
- 2:03:27Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
- 2:03:32Speaker 4: Oh man, that probably there's no other state outside of
- 2:03:39Speaker 4: Texas who execute so fast.
- 2:03:43Speaker 3: It was really impressive. When I wrote it, I was like, wait,
- 2:03:49Speaker 3: it was like year after year after year after they
- 2:03:51Speaker 3: were they were not haafing around. And I think it
- 2:03:54Speaker 3: has a lot to do with the fact that one
- 2:03:57Speaker 3: like there was definitely a police officer killed, and that's terrible.
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: It's terrible when anybody dies. But typically when things get personal,
- 2:04:04Speaker 3: people tend to go away very fast.
- 2:04:06Speaker 4: So yeah, well, if you're the right victim, then yes,
- 2:04:13Speaker 4: because there are some people have been on death row
- 2:04:15Speaker 4: a longer time, but they didn't kill that perfect victim.
- 2:04:20Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 2:04:21Speaker 4: But no, that is an interesting case and you did
- 2:04:23Speaker 4: a great job.
- 2:04:25Speaker 3: Thank you. I uh, I felt like it needed to
- 2:04:30Speaker 3: go fast because it was slow. Oh I'm sorry.
- 2:04:36Speaker 4: Well, Mike likes it slow too. We talked and Mike's not.
- 2:04:39Speaker 3: Tonight, not tonight.
- 2:04:43Speaker 5: You Finally, I know I saw because.
- 2:04:46Speaker 4: I was sitting here thinking, okay, Amber's in for a
- 2:04:49Speaker 4: really fun night night.
- 2:04:54Speaker 5: Now. I gotta so long ago.
- 2:04:58Speaker 4: Yeah, oh I saw it when you did it, and
- 2:04:59Speaker 4: I was trying really hard to not comment on it.
- 2:05:05Speaker 4: So JT. Do you want to show your shirt for
- 2:05:09Speaker 4: people who are here who haven't seen your beautiful shirt?
- 2:05:12Speaker 5: Sure?
- 2:05:13Speaker 4: Because not everybody knows you go both ways?
- 2:05:19Speaker 6: Yes?
- 2:05:20Speaker 4: Why not beer? Why not wine? Why not both? Is
- 2:05:24Speaker 4: there a drink out there where beer and wine are mixed?
- 2:05:29Speaker 5: Yes? There is? It is? What is it called?
- 2:05:32Speaker 3: Is like?
- 2:05:34Speaker 4: Going there?
- 2:05:35Speaker 6: Is?
- 2:05:36Speaker 4: I know you can put beer in a margarita.
- 2:05:40Speaker 5: A beer and wine hybrid?
- 2:05:42Speaker 3: Is cold? O? N O beer?
- 2:05:48Speaker 4: I don't know, but we got a lot of people
- 2:05:50Speaker 4: saying yes, Oh, but I like people who say it's nasty. Okay,
- 2:05:53Speaker 4: I'm thinking it's nasty.
- 2:05:57Speaker 5: There actually is a name for a beer wine hybrid, and.
- 2:06:01Speaker 3: It's coming up. O n O beer, O E n
- 2:06:04Speaker 3: O beer.
- 2:06:05Speaker 5: It's not the one I've ever heard of.
- 2:06:07Speaker 4: I've had Frambrosia and okay, maybe that's how you say it, Fross.
- 2:06:14Speaker 5: It's like, yeah, that would be a raspberry beer. I think.
- 2:06:19Speaker 4: Okay, mm hmmm.
- 2:06:22Speaker 5: I've definitely had some beer wine hybrids, but I'm not
- 2:06:25Speaker 5: seeing the right name.
- 2:06:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:06:28Speaker 8: Do you know have any beer wine hybrids? Any cocktails
- 2:06:32Speaker 8: remixed beer and wine? He says, God no, he used
- 2:06:38Speaker 8: to be a bartender.
- 2:06:40Speaker 4: God, he said, God.
- 2:06:41Speaker 5: No, he's just wrong.
- 2:06:43Speaker 3: It's a man.
- 2:06:44Speaker 4: After somebody just said that a redneck. We just mixed
- 2:06:52Speaker 4: it ourselves. Now that's where you get the moonshine from.
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: Corona, Rita.
- 2:06:59Speaker 5: That's that's different.
- 2:07:02Speaker 3: That's horrible.
- 2:07:06Speaker 5: Would you know what?
- 2:07:06Speaker 4: It's really good?
- 2:07:08Speaker 5: Hey, to each their own. I just don't like laggers.
- 2:07:14Speaker 3: Said. It is horrible, terrible, horrible, horrible.
- 2:07:18Speaker 5: I went from a one imperial stout to a different
- 2:07:21Speaker 5: imperial stout.
- 2:07:21Speaker 4: So, okay, can you school me, mister brew crime. Since
- 2:07:26Speaker 4: you're here, can you educate me? What is the difference
- 2:07:29Speaker 4: between a lagger and whatever word you just said? Mm
- 2:07:33Speaker 4: hmm pilsner, Pillsbury.
- 2:07:37Speaker 1: A.
- 2:07:40Speaker 5: Pillsner, I don't remember saying pillsner, but a pilsner and
- 2:07:48Speaker 5: a lagger.
- 2:07:49Speaker 4: But what's the other beer you're drinking? A stouter? A stouter? Yeah,
- 2:07:58Speaker 4: what is so flipping funny?
- 2:08:00Speaker 5: Dout stout not stouter.
- 2:08:03Speaker 3: That's what I said, as stouter, Like if you drink
- 2:08:07Speaker 3: a lot of stout, become stout stout. Okay, there we go.
- 2:08:15Speaker 4: So what the difference between all of those varietals.
- 2:08:20Speaker 5: Technically a stout could be a lagger or an ale
- 2:08:25Speaker 5: laggers and ales. It's the yeast that is used. So
- 2:08:29Speaker 5: a logger yeast you cold ferment an ale yeast. It's
- 2:08:33Speaker 5: like sort of a slightly warmer fermentation. But when people
- 2:08:37Speaker 5: say logger, they usually think of like a Budweiser, a
- 2:08:41Speaker 5: mostly Canadian Canada, that kind of shit. A pilsner is
- 2:08:45Speaker 5: a slightly happier lagger, but it's still like yellow and fizzy.
- 2:08:49Speaker 5: Stout's dark as hell. You can't see through it.
- 2:08:55Speaker 4: That darker that guinness? Is it? Guinness?
- 2:08:59Speaker 5: Guinness? Yeah? Okay, kind of flavorless. This actually is discus
- 2:09:04Speaker 5: is syrup.
- 2:09:06Speaker 3: Now that Guinness.
- 2:09:07Speaker 4: It got flavor and it's not gonna doesn't.
- 2:09:09Speaker 5: Oh, it's so No, Guinness is almost flavorless. It's fine, Okay,
- 2:09:15Speaker 5: it's terrible, it's terrible. Here.
- 2:09:19Speaker 4: I will stick to my ultra.
- 2:09:22Speaker 5: You do that, I will never never drink it, but
- 2:09:24Speaker 5: you enjoy it. I won't drink that either. I'm a snob.
- 2:09:32Speaker 5: It's okay.
- 2:09:34Speaker 4: Will you drink a show? We drink a corona nel
- 2:09:41Speaker 4: grio nikolaow.
- 2:09:44Speaker 3: Uh called, and that's not a no, it's not a beer.
- 2:09:52Speaker 5: Uh ne grony, that's a beer. But now I won't. Yeah,
- 2:09:57Speaker 5: what is that Mexican beer that I will drink?
- 2:10:01Speaker 4: Sekies?
- 2:10:03Speaker 5: I think there's a there's a dark dough sequis, isn't there?
- 2:10:06Speaker 4: Yes, Negro medella, thank you?
- 2:10:12Speaker 5: Yes, yesdello is not bad, not bad. Want to go
- 2:10:18Speaker 5: to when we actually want to go to Mexico or Cuba.
- 2:10:22Speaker 5: It's like tequila or rum drinks like I just stick
- 2:10:27Speaker 5: away from yellow fizzy.
- 2:10:29Speaker 4: I do like you put an orange on it.
- 2:10:33Speaker 5: Oh, Kelly, I've had two beers that.
- 2:10:35Speaker 4: Were twelve percent blue Moon, thank you. Yeah. I've had
- 2:10:42Speaker 4: a couple of glasses of wine and some Denver.
- 2:10:47Speaker 5: This one was twelve percent alcohol. This one was eleven
- 2:10:51Speaker 5: percent alcohol.
- 2:10:55Speaker 3: And he's still going to have another two.
- 2:10:56Speaker 5: That one was from seven percent alcohol. I had that
- 2:11:00Speaker 5: before the show.
- 2:11:02Speaker 3: Any anybody who doesn't think that we don't, you know,
- 2:11:05Speaker 3: believe in our art.
- 2:11:09Speaker 4: But I mean I am smart enough to know just
- 2:11:13Speaker 4: like wine, beer has the same thing. There's Cabernet, there's Marlow,
- 2:11:20Speaker 4: there's seven Young Blanc, there's rose. Then you add bubbly
- 2:11:24Speaker 4: and then you add different stuff because I like stuff
- 2:11:27Speaker 4: from New Zealand. But there's.
- 2:11:32Speaker 5: And Stoats and Saysons and I'm just go on the record,
- 2:11:40Speaker 5: Stouter is a better name.
- 2:11:43Speaker 4: I'm just gonna go on.
- 2:11:49Speaker 3: I'm going to bring us back.
- 2:11:56Speaker 4: Guess who is not drinking tonight.
- 2:12:01Speaker 3: If you and.
- 2:12:04Speaker 4: I'm gonna cut you off. Most of the time, he's
- 2:12:06Speaker 4: fallen the sleep when we're recording, or all opportunity to
- 2:12:12Speaker 4: fall asleep, or he's drinking an entire bottle.
- 2:12:16Speaker 3: Yes, one of the two. So yeah, right, that's me. Yes,
- 2:12:21Speaker 3: I sleep with it. If you guys enjoyed the mixture
- 2:12:29Speaker 3: of everything, you know. Obviously, the other show that I'm
- 2:12:33Speaker 3: on with Mike is Brew Crime. You can look it up.
- 2:12:35Speaker 3: We're on We're brew at brew Crime for everything. So
- 2:12:40Speaker 3: take take a lesson. We have not only the true
- 2:12:42Speaker 3: crime shows with the case an episode, but we also
- 2:12:45Speaker 3: have brew Crime News, where we cover stupid news and
- 2:12:49Speaker 3: ridiculousness in all different forms and functions and topics. So
- 2:12:53Speaker 3: there's a lot of stuff to be offered. Yeah, there
- 2:12:55Speaker 3: it is. You know, are we doing that again this year?
- 2:12:59Speaker 4: I'm gonna throw big. I think we need to maybe
- 2:13:04Speaker 4: talk to Amber, get her to tie Mike down for
- 2:13:08Speaker 4: us and get him to join on to ce T
- 2:13:11Speaker 4: C W two media enjoin up with this.
- 2:13:18Speaker 3: We need to talk about That's a conversation.
- 2:13:21Speaker 4: That I'm gonna have Amber tie him to the bed.
- 2:13:23Speaker 5: Harry wants to tie me up, Like, what are we
- 2:13:25Speaker 5: talking about here?
- 2:13:28Speaker 3: Is this a surprise to anybody? I mean I woke
- 2:13:30Speaker 3: up on able to move one day and.
- 2:13:32Speaker 4: I am getting ready to miss the Chamber now.
- 2:13:36Speaker 5: I mean when we were when we were in Denver,
- 2:13:40Speaker 5: I might have.
- 2:13:46Speaker 3: Consent.
- 2:13:48Speaker 4: I would get Ambers consent. I would absolutely get Ambers
- 2:13:53Speaker 4: consent and Terry and I bet you Amber would consent.
- 2:14:00Speaker 4: Amber would say absolutely, Am I wrong?
- 2:14:05Speaker 5: You have to just send her to your pets and
- 2:14:07Speaker 5: she would just not know what was going on.
- 2:14:10Speaker 4: She just needs to come and play with Jasper. But no,
- 2:14:15Speaker 4: it was nice having you on. I am so happy
- 2:14:19Speaker 4: that you agreed to jump on camera with us.
- 2:14:24Speaker 5: Of course, why not.
- 2:14:27Speaker 4: It's a thing you crime will wind up being live someday.
- 2:14:34Speaker 5: Probably not. I can't edit it to sound smarter than
- 2:14:38Speaker 5: I am.
- 2:14:40Speaker 4: Somebody asked how Jasper is. Jasper is doing very well.
- 2:14:45Speaker 4: We are actually gonna get him a new crate because
- 2:14:49Speaker 4: he's getting taller and he needs a little bit more space.
- 2:14:54Speaker 4: And he loves to go visit his bibby, which is
- 2:14:57Speaker 4: my mother in law, because she he has kiddy food
- 2:15:01Speaker 4: in there, and Jasper loves kitty kibble. He thinks it's
- 2:15:06Speaker 4: like bluebell ice cream.
- 2:15:08Speaker 3: He's all like, goofball? What a goofball?
- 2:15:14Speaker 5: All right over to Jasper's Instagram page.
- 2:15:19Speaker 3: Yeah for sure.
- 2:15:22Speaker 4: Yes, Mike, You're always fun. In any time I can't
- 2:15:27Speaker 4: make it, I think JT should have you on. And
- 2:15:31Speaker 4: anytime JT can't make it, I'm going to be reaching out.
- 2:15:37Speaker 4: And somebody asked, what kind of doggie? Jasper is a
- 2:15:43Speaker 4: Nigerian dwarf goat to live in the house.
- 2:15:50Speaker 3: He's a house goat.
- 2:15:53Speaker 4: He's a house goat. But thank you Mike so much
- 2:15:56Speaker 4: for coming on and hanging out with our craziness and
- 2:16:02Speaker 4: I don't know what we are tonight, but we are
- 2:16:04Speaker 4: a lot.
- 2:16:04Speaker 3: I'm extras all the things.
- 2:16:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:16:10Speaker 3: Sure, Thank you everybody for tuning in. We really appreciate it.
