- 0:00Hey, we had a little tech issue at first, but
- 0:02we're good now, hopefully. Let's talk about Deafula.
- 0:05Let's talk about Deafula, which we did not do
- 0:07the first time. So, for those of you who don’t
- 0:10know, Deafula, not Dracula, Deafula, is a 1975
- 0:14horror movie, black and white, and it was directed
- 0:17by a deaf person, and it was filmed with deaf
- 0:20people as actors, for deaf people. It's entirely
- 0:23in sign language in the original film. Had no
- 0:27voiceover. But then I think the releases after
- 0:30do have voiceover. But I heard about it a couple
- 0:33months back. And I was like, wait a second. I
- 0:36absolutely need to see this. And also because
- 0:38it reminded me of Daphne's obsession with Deafenstein
- 0:43in Switched at Birth, which I found out was just
- 0:45a ripoff of that. But I guess they didn't use Deafula
- 0:47because of the copyright. Anyways, I go on eBay
- 0:50immediately and I type in Deafula. And I find
- 0:53the DVD for Deafula that says, rare hearing impaired
- 0:56DVD. And I say, okay, sure. Buy it for 15 bucks.
- 1:01And then I had a little screening at the apartment
- 1:04last weekend. What a score. I know. It was a
- 1:08blast. And the movie is odd. Odd, but in a really
- 1:12iconic way. I had so much fun. It's so fun.
- 1:16The plot is impossible to follow. And it's not
- 1:20because we couldn't hear or we couldn't understand
- 1:22the signing. No, the signing was overall pretty
- 1:25clear. Yeah, for 1975, it has not changed that
- 1:28much. Not changed that much. There were some
- 1:30weird filming choices, I would say. Yeah, they
- 1:34did Switched at Birth -core, where they filmed some
- 1:37people from behind the back and whatnot. They
- 1:39did a lot of fingerspelling. They did do a lot
- 1:42of fingerspelling. Like very Rochester Method.
- 1:44Rochester Method was like an old version of signing
- 1:47where people just fingerspelled everything. Ooh,
- 1:49that's Paolo's nightmare. There were a lot
- 1:52of bellbottoms. Fantastic outfits. Yeah, great
- 1:55hair. Beautiful hair. A prosthetic nose. A prosthetic
- 1:59nose that was bordering on the verge of being anti
- 2:02-Semitic but I think the director is Jewish so
- 2:04that's fine. It was camp. It was very camp and
- 2:08you were saying before like we should have a
- 2:10shadow cast, a deaf shadow cast of this movie,
- 2:12and I could not agree more. You should make that
- 2:15happen. You should produce that. I should. I would
- 2:17love that. Yeah okay. Yeah um go see Deafula, it's
- 2:21also on YouTube for free with the voiceover,
- 2:25and if you want captions, I'm pretty sure YouTube
- 2:27could auto-generate them. I don't know how good
- 2:30they'll be. The voiceover was pretty easy to
- 2:33understand. Yeah, the voiceover was very clear.
- 2:35Yeah, I think they did a pretty decent job. The
- 2:37quality is an old black and white horror film,
- 2:41and I don't think it was ever released, so whatever
- 2:44it was being distributed was taken somehow, and
- 2:47the quality is kind of shitty. Yeah, but it's
- 2:49not too distracting. Yeah, it's not unwatchable.
- 2:53But just a warning. Anyway, I've got to tell
- 2:55you about this Target ad I keep getting. Oh,
- 2:58from watching Switched at Birth? Yes. So I'm watching
- 3:00with ads, but I keep getting distracted because
- 3:03this ad that's playing, and this episode will
- 3:07come out in December, so I'm sure it'll be playing
- 3:09even more. Okay. Is like a woman is on a date
- 3:13with a man who is clearly Santa, but she doesn't
- 3:17notice that he's Santa. But he's like being very
- 3:19forthcoming about the fact that he's Santa. But
- 3:22they're on a date and he's like, so what kind
- 3:24of stuff is on your list? And she's like, my
- 3:27list? And he's like, yeah, like, what do you
- 3:29want? And she's like, oh, I don't really know.
- 3:33Thinking they're on a date. And he's like, well,
- 3:35I've already started my list. I'm checking it
- 3:37twice. And she's like, you have a list? And he's
- 3:41like, yeah. And he pulls it out. And then he's
- 3:43like, hold on. And he like goes to the other
- 3:46side of the room and she opens the list and she's
- 3:49like, Owala water bottle. He's hydrated.
- 3:53And then he comes back and he's like, sorry,
- 3:55I had to add someone to the naughty list. And
- 3:58she goes, the naughty list? How do I get on there?
- 4:01And he's like, you want to be on the naughty
- 4:04list? You want coal? And then I think it clicks
- 4:07for her that he's Santa. But I just like, why
- 4:10would you do that to Santa? Is he hot Santa?
- 4:13He's like younger, like mid-40s, kind of trim.
- 4:18Okay. With like a much cleaned up beard Santa.
- 4:21Why did they do that to Santa? I don't know, it's really
- 4:24disturbing to me. You don't need to yassify him.
- 4:27Every break. Every ad break, I just get that ad.
- 4:30So I have to see it every time. This sounds like
- 4:34the longest ad ever. It's actually so short, too.
- 4:37So much happens in so little time, but it's really
- 4:40disturbing. I gotta find this ad after. Do you
- 4:43want to get to the show? Yeah, let's get to the
- 4:45show. Cue music. All right. Switched at Birth
- 5:01Season 1, Episode 8, Pandora's Box, released
- 5:05July 25, 2011. Oh my god, I did not look up the
- 5:09painting. Me neither, actually. I was just like,
- 5:12oh, Pandora's Box. That makes sense. I'm sure
- 5:15there's many paintings with that name. There's
- 5:17so many paintings. Okay. It's not that deep.
- 5:21The box is the guitar case. Yeah. Curiosity leads
- 5:25Daphne to open a container. Releasing curses
- 5:28upon mankind. We pick up right where we left
- 5:31off. Daphne's in that bedroom looking at the
- 5:34pictures in the guitar case. Yeah. And Regina
- 5:37walks in and is like, oh. This is just a side
- 5:39note, and it's not important for the emotional
- 5:41moment, but she's wearing shoes in her bedroom,
- 5:44and I hated that. Oh, I mention it later on.
- 5:47She wears shoes on the bed. When she's listening
- 5:49to her angry rock music, her feet are on the
- 5:52bed. Her dirty purple Converse are on the bed.
- 5:55Do you still wear Converse? No, not really. Okay,
- 5:58then I feel good slandering them. I hate Converse
- 6:02so much. And I also think they're kind of ugly.
- 6:05And I think the fact that they take like 10 minutes
- 6:07to put on and take off is just like abysmal.
- 6:10I know it's not actually that long. I like them.
- 6:13This sounds old. I sound like an old lady now.
- 6:16But my complaint is that they just don't have
- 6:17a lot of support for my feet. No, I have terrible
- 6:20feet. So I agree. That's one of the reasons I
- 6:22never wore them. I loved them in middle school
- 6:24and high school. I always wore the flat. Not
- 6:27the high tops, but the low top black Converse,
- 6:31always. Those were also the ones I had. But I
- 6:33just feel like they're not, especially in New
- 6:35York, where you're going into people's apartments
- 6:38and taking off your shoes, typically. Paolo's
- 6:40brother, whenever he visits us, he like only
- 6:43wears Converse. Okay. And so every time we're
- 6:45exiting and entering the home, he takes like
- 6:48five minutes extra time. It was also the same
- 6:51growing up with friends who wore Doc Martens.
- 6:54Yes. With the laces. Yeah. 10 minutes to put
- 6:57those on and off. Yeah. They were always like, I
- 6:59have a blister, it's like yeah, because of those
- 7:01damn shoes. Where are their socks? I had a pair of Doc
- 7:05Martens that I bought off of eBay. Vintage, red
- 7:08leather Doc Martens that were like a size and
- 7:11a half too big, so I had to wear double socks
- 7:14with them, and like one pair had to be those
- 7:17like really fluffy socks. Yep. And because they
- 7:20were a size and a half too big they were also
- 7:22fucking heavy. So I was just like clomping around
- 7:25in these big shoes. That's awful. I know. Anyways,
- 7:28yeah. Regina steps into the bedroom and is like,
- 7:31uh-oh, just got caught. Not sure why she brought
- 7:34this to the apartment. That seems like that was
- 7:36a stupid idea. It's so risky. So risky. She probably
- 7:39should have gotten rid of it. Just put it in
- 7:41storage. Not even Melody's garage. You're getting
- 7:44paid so well now with the Mission Hills tippers
- 7:46at your hair salon. Yeah, rent your own storage
- 7:49unit. Then no one can see that. Anyways, yeah.
- 7:53We know that now Regina knew about the switch
- 7:55a long time ago and the two of them are about
- 7:58to talk about it until Kathryn interrupts wielding
- 8:01a scarf for Regina. The scarf was so funny. It's
- 8:05a symbol of her friendship. It is. She said we're
- 8:08friends now. She decided they're friends in like
- 8:10the last episode. And that's going to be destroyed
- 8:13soon. She brings her a scarf and she's like prattling
- 8:17on about how she's found it and not reading
- 8:20the room at all. At one point, she's like, did
- 8:22I interrupt something? And Daphne's like, no,
- 8:25I'm fine. Only after Daphne does the most obvious,
- 8:28like, upset, she, like, stomps to get her mom's
- 8:31attention. Oh, yeah. And she's like, are you
- 8:32gonna tell her? Obviously, it doubles as just,
- 8:34like, that is a way to get someone's attention.
- 8:36Yeah. But also, she's being a moody teenager.
- 8:39It was very fun to see Daphne, like, act out
- 8:42a little bit. I know. She does a lot of acting
- 8:44out this episode. Yeah. And thank God. She's
- 8:46earned it. But they're signing and Kathryn's
- 8:50there and Kathryn is on her ASL journey. So
- 8:53she probably has a couple of little basics down
- 8:56and they are being so obvious. Regina literally,
- 9:00she does the more of the common universal one.
- 9:03Like the pointer finger to the lips, like shush.
- 9:06Yeah, that means hush. Don't talk about it in,
- 9:09I think, universally, like pretty much every
- 9:11language. If you do that, people are going to
- 9:14be quiet. Kathryn's watching this interaction
- 9:17and then being like, huh, I wonder what's wrong.
- 9:21I was like, you can pick up some cues. Yeah.
- 9:24Again, you can read the room a little, but she
- 9:27barely gets there. And also, Daphne's talking
- 9:31about Kathryn in front of Kathryn because
- 9:33she's like, are you going to tell her? And she
- 9:35points to Kathryn and Kathryn is like, huh,
- 9:38I don't know if they're talking about me or not.
- 9:40Yeah, wonder. Yeah, but Kathryn's just like,
- 9:42anyway, do you want to go get an ice blended?
- 9:45What's an ice blended? Like a frappuccino. Oh,
- 9:47okay. I think they weren't, they couldn't call
- 9:50it a frappuccino because that's, I think, trademarked
- 9:53by Starbucks. I thought it was a slushie. I mean,
- 9:56if they make it wrong, it's basically a slushie.
- 9:58And then Regina's left standing there with her
- 10:00sad little scarf wrapped around her. I do also
- 10:03want to circle back to when they first try to
- 10:07have a conversation and Daphne's like, what the
- 10:08fuck? And Regina's like, well, I kind of knew.
- 10:11And then Kathryn interrupts. They're already
- 10:13simcomming. Yeah. So I had a question for you
- 10:16about that. Go on. Or I guess more of a, a proposed-
- 10:20I've imagined a backstory in my head. As to why
- 10:25she simcoms? As to why she simcoms. Okay. And it's
- 10:28related to us talking about her language deprivation.
- 10:32Daphne's language deprivation period and also
- 10:35her learning sign late and her mom learning sign
- 10:38late. I wonder if they simcom because for Daphne
- 10:41and Regina, like the foundational years of their
- 10:44relationship took place in spoken English. And
- 10:47so, even though they both sign now like, I do won-
- 10:51I think- I mean, it's for us obviously, but I'm
- 10:54gonna, I'm proposing- You're trying to justify
- 10:56why on earth are they doing this. Yes, especially
- 10:59when Daphne's like incredibly upset, I would think
- 11:03that your brain would default to one language
- 11:05because simcomming is so difficult. And more
- 11:08of a strain. I would think that you would- Why
- 11:11do serious conversation? Yeah, pick one and I would
- 11:15think she would pick ASL. Yes. But instead she's
- 11:19simcomming and Regina's simcomming, and again
- 11:21I do wonder if it's because they were presumably
- 11:25Daphne had some English. Right, she has some English
- 11:28because you know, the critical period to learn
- 11:31a language is before the age of five. Yeah. So
- 11:33she went deaf at three. So she definitely has
- 11:35three years of exposure to English. Yeah. But
- 11:38then five years of nothing. Hmm. I don't know.
- 11:41So you're saying because Regina learned late
- 11:45when Daphne was, what, seven or eight? Not
- 11:47just because of that, but because they had their
- 11:50first eight years of a relationship. Maybe that's
- 11:54how they started. They communicated in English.
- 11:55I do wonder if that's how they started communicating
- 11:58together, is that they simcommed to learn the
- 12:01language. And maybe that's just what they always
- 12:04do together. And I think, again, this is a way
- 12:08of justifying it. And obviously, the reason they're
- 12:11doing it is because it's for a hearing audience.
- 12:14But yeah, and maybe it was Regina's way of trying
- 12:17to learn. Because I'm sure Daphne was picking
- 12:20up much faster. She was young and a child. And
- 12:22then I assume she went to a deaf school very
- 12:24quickly. Yeah. And she picked up the language
- 12:26very fast. And maybe that was what, their way of
- 12:28learning was simcomming and then picking up the
- 12:31pieces in between and being- and maybe saying
- 12:34English when she didn't know the sign. Yeah.
- 12:36And then maybe Daphne would signed when she didn't
- 12:39know the words in English. I don't know. Anyway,
- 12:42that's just like a security blanket for me so
- 12:44that I don't keep getting annoyed about it. I
- 12:46know. Yeah. John confronts Regina and he says,
- 12:50so the deposition is tomorrow. The lawyers apparently
- 12:53have something, like a fun little secret. Do
- 12:56you have any idea what it is? And she's like,
- 12:58nope, sorry, no idea. That's a crazy choice.
- 13:02For Regina not to share? I mean, what did she
- 13:04think was going to happen? Do you think she was
- 13:06just hoping it was something else? Well, she
- 13:08said it's probably my DUIs. Yeah, but you know
- 13:11she's lying. Yeah. I think she's just cornered
- 13:14and probably doesn't know what to do yet. She's
- 13:16still in shock. Oh, my God. Yeah, the entire
- 13:18episode is her panicking and trying to hide everything.
- 13:21Yeah, I was stressed for her this episode. It
- 13:23was stressful to watch. And then Daphne is at
- 13:26Buckner for her cooking class, and she bumps
- 13:29straight into Wilke. And she's like, I hate
- 13:32my mom. Wanna ditch school? And he's so cute,
- 13:34and he says, yeah. Yeah, he's suspended from
- 13:36school, too. That's true. So he's like, yeah,
- 13:38I can't even be here anyway, so let's ditch.
- 13:41And where do they go? East Riverside. What I was
- 13:44really distracted by is that Daphne breaks into-
- 13:48she like hops over a fence. Yes, it's her moment
- 13:51to be like, look I'm from here. She like very skillfully
- 13:55scales a fence and hops over onto the river. It's
- 14:00just like a bridge over a canal. So this- they
- 14:03filmed in LA, this is just the LA river. Oh, great.
- 14:07Which was like really weird for me to see. And
- 14:09also I was like, I would personally never walk
- 14:11down there, but love that for you guys. Okay,
- 14:14great. Yeah, they hop the fence and she calls
- 14:17him veal. Yeah, she compares him to veal, sheltered
- 14:20and raised in a box because he's being uncomfortable
- 14:22about being in East Riverside and he's worried
- 14:24about his car getting stolen. And this is funny
- 14:27because she's vegetarian. Very funny sentence
- 14:29to say. And then Bay shows up at Carlton. Yeah,
- 14:34she's waiting for Emmett at Carlton. And she
- 14:36said, hey, why'd you kiss me? Yeah, she really,
- 14:39she unloads on him. He responds by kissing her
- 14:44again and she reciprocates. It's so cute. And
- 14:47then they decide to ditch school. Well, first
- 14:49of all, she brings up Ty, who she hasn't brought
- 14:51up since he left. Yeah, that's true. I was going
- 14:54to pine for Ty and listen to Adele and make art.
- 14:58And now you've just like thrown that whole plan
- 15:00off. I had a whole plan. Yeah. And she's talking
- 15:02at him so fast. Meanwhile. He's not hearing any
- 15:06of this. No, but he's looking gorgeous. He looks
- 15:08so cute. He's just like smizing at her. And then
- 15:12when she stops talking, he's like, are you finished?
- 15:14And then he kisses her again. And then they go
- 15:17to like some random public park. Yeah, making
- 15:20out in the park. Really bold of them. John and
- 15:22Kathryn are practicing for their deposition
- 15:25tomorrow. Yes. With the lawyer. I feel like the
- 15:27day before is very late to practice for something
- 15:31that important. Agreed. And also they're not
- 15:34doing too well at it. I don't think I would do
- 15:36well at this either. Absolutely not. People attacking
- 15:39me and my beliefs and everything I thought. Yeah,
- 15:42they basically just rage bait you. That's exactly
- 15:44what being a lawyer is. You're rage baiting people.
- 15:47So it seems bad. And then Kathryn's trying.
- 15:50She's struggling. And then John's kind of scoffing
- 15:53at her. And she's like, well, you try. And then
- 15:55the lawyer goes, okay, you want to talk about
- 15:57Sarah Lazar? Who's that, oh my god. One of the
- 16:01things I noticed is that the lawyer asked why
- 16:04didn't you notice your baby lost weight? And then
- 16:06I want to drop a little fact and that is that
- 16:08newborn babies can lose five to ten percent of
- 16:11their body weight during the first three days.
- 16:13Kara, the way I said that out loud at the TV watching
- 16:16it last night, at like one in the morning. I was
- 16:19like newborns lose a lot of their body weight
- 16:21right after birth. Duh. That's like a famous thing.
- 16:24They lose a lot of water weight and then they
- 16:26also may not feed immediately, which is exactly
- 16:28what Kathryn said. She said, I had trouble
- 16:29feeding. And then Regina's outside of her salon
- 16:34and she's calling someone. I was like, oh my
- 16:37God, is she calling Angelo this early? That's
- 16:38crazy. But it's just the private investigator's
- 16:41office. She said, didn't you ever hear the word
- 16:43private in private investigator? What's up with
- 16:45that? I don't think she realizes how the law
- 16:48works though. There's no like private investigator-
- 16:51client privilege. No, there is not. If they pay
- 16:54you or they subpoena you, yeah. And then just
- 16:56one note there is that as she's like outside,
- 16:59Geraldo comes out and is like, okay, see you
- 17:01at 8 a.m. tomorrow. That's crazy. That's very
- 17:04early. That's so early for a salon. I've never
- 17:07gotten my hair cut before like 11 a.m. Maybe
- 17:09some people want cuts before they go to work.
- 17:12I feel that Regina is cutting the hair of Mission
- 17:15Hills women who don't have jobs. So I don't know
- 17:18why they're. Yeah, you're right. Why they would
- 17:20be up that early. 10 a.m. at the earliest. Yeah,
- 17:22and then Daphne and Wilke are drinking by the
- 17:24side of the river. And Wilke tells Daphne, so
- 17:27you know Emmett is clearly in love with you,
- 17:29right? But he doesn't know Emmett's name, which
- 17:32I thought was interesting. Yeah, he should. He
- 17:34was like, Edward, Eddie. Yes, and then Twilight
- 17:37mentioned, Twilight alert, Daphne's like, Emmett?
- 17:40And he goes, see? I knew it was a name from Twilight.
- 17:43I was thinking, how does he not know Emmett's
- 17:45name? But I guess they only met once when they
- 17:46played in that band. Doesn't Wilke introduce
- 17:49Emmett to his poker buddies like this is Guitar
- 17:52Face's new drummer? But Wilke doesn't care like
- 17:55that. Wilke's just like self -absorbed. He only
- 17:57really cares a little bit about Daphne and that's
- 18:00it. And then himself. And then Toby like 1%.
- 18:02And now we are back at the park with Emmett and
- 18:06Bay. Oh yeah. They're making out in public. It's
- 18:10kind of gross, but also, I guess, cute. Were
- 18:13you a, you're not really a PDA person, huh? No,
- 18:16not really. I was a big, like, shameless PDA
- 18:20person in high school, like a typical teenager.
- 18:22Like, I would have seen no problem with this.
- 18:24She's lying down on the blanket. I'm like, get
- 18:27up. It's a lot. Still now, like, to see teenagers
- 18:30doing that, my reaction is like, aw, to be young.
- 18:33Yeah, I guess. When it's adults doing it now,
- 18:37I'm like, okay. But yeah, when it's teenagers,
- 18:40I'm like, oh, to be young and in love. It's sweet.
- 18:44That's true. They're really going at it. They're
- 18:47really going at it. And Bay keeps interrupting
- 18:49to ask ASL questions. And she goes, how do you sign
- 18:51kiss? And he teaches her. And then she goes,
- 18:54wait, how do you sign laugh? And he teaches her. And
- 18:57then she interrupts again. He's like, ugh I just
- 18:59wanna makeout. And she asks him, do you ever use
- 19:02your voice? And what if you change for me? And
- 19:05you spoke? This was rough to watch. Yeah. And
- 19:08he rightfully says, girl, you gotta learn ASL.
- 19:11Sorry. And then she says, I'm on three different
- 19:13sites and I have my private lessons with you.
- 19:16I would love to suggest to Bay, take a class
- 19:19in person. Yeah. Take a class with someone you
- 19:22don't want to kiss. I'm sure there's- Carlton
- 19:24probably offers classes. Probably. Yeah. Hey,
- 19:28Daphne's taking a cooking class at Buckner. Bay
- 19:30can go take an ASL class at Carlton. Literally.
- 19:34I think all of them, I think it's really odd
- 19:36that they're all like self -taught. The fact
- 19:38that Katherine Kennish wasn't like, and we're
- 19:40all going to take a class together as a family
- 19:42now. Right, Kansas City is a large city with
- 19:46a sizable deaf population, especially because
- 19:48Carlton is there. Surely they must have some
- 19:50sort of class. Then Bay and Emmett go back to
- 19:54Emmett's house and Bay finds that his bedroom
- 19:57is just a shrine to Daphne. It's pretty bad.
- 20:00It's... Like, some are not even pictures of,
- 20:03like, Daphne and Emmett. Some are, like, school
- 20:06photos of Daphne when she was, like, 12 years
- 20:09old. It's a little odd. There's not much to defend
- 20:13here. It's pretty bad. Yeah, she's rightfully
- 20:15weirded out. Yeah, you can see the trepidation
- 20:18in her face, for sure. Yeah, and this will continue.
- 20:21Yeah. Emmett, maybe you should have cleared the
- 20:24shrine. He probably didn't know she was coming
- 20:26over, but... I do think this does speak to, like...
- 20:30He does love Daphne, but I don't know that he
- 20:34is, like, super active in his, like, and intentional
- 20:38in his crush on her, if that makes sense. What
- 20:41do you mean by that? The fact that Bay is like,
- 20:43you have all these pictures, this is weird, and
- 20:45he's like, it's not weird. She's my best friend.
- 20:48I don't think he, yeah, I don't think it
- 20:49even occurs to him. Yeah, I don't think he thinks
- 20:51about it like that. In his defense. Sorry to
- 20:54defend a man, but, like, I will defend Emmett.
- 20:57Where are his other deaf friends? I also want
- 21:00to know that. We see him being like, when she
- 21:02shows up at Carlton, we get a shot of Emmett
- 21:05being like a cool guy, like with his motorcycle
- 21:07jacket and he's signing to his friends that are
- 21:09off camera. Show us the friends. I know. They
- 21:13didn't have the budget yet. I guess not. Now
- 21:15we're back in East Riverside and Wilke's car
- 21:18is booted. Aw, man. He had nine unpaid parking
- 21:22tickets. That's a lot. A lot. But it's okay because
- 21:25he has a boot guy. So they end up making out
- 21:28in the back of his Audi, I guess. Daphne's a
- 21:31little drunk, and this is the first time we've
- 21:34seen drunk Daphne. Yes. And this will go on to
- 21:37be a trend. It turns out drunk Daphne is, like,
- 21:39she's interested in kissing. Like, she loves
- 21:42to get a little bit drunk and then kiss a boy
- 21:44she probably shouldn't. Yeah, that's fair. I
- 21:46don't know. Wilke, you, full permission. Oh,
- 21:49yeah, I would kiss him sober. I don't think she
- 21:51needed the encouragement. There's so much making
- 21:53out in this episode. There is a lot of making
- 21:55out. They, yeah, they get into his car. I do
- 21:59love that it's like daylight out still when they
- 22:02start making out. And then when we see them in
- 22:03the car later in the back of the car, pitch black.
- 22:06How long do we think they've been in there? Maybe
- 22:08like two hours. I would have had to pee. And
- 22:11nothing has changed. Clothes are still on. Clothes
- 22:14are kind of coming off though. She has some buttons
- 22:16off. Yeah, she's got some buttons off. She's
- 22:19like ready to, she's like, yeah, I'm going to
- 22:21have sex with Wilke in the back of his booted
- 22:23car. Yeah. This is great. But then Wilke brings
- 22:27up the switch. Why does he do this? Boner killer.
- 22:30Yeah, not smooth, dude. Yeah, he brings up the
- 22:33switched at birth thing while they're making out,
- 22:35which would also not turn me on. She also says
- 22:38he's trying to talk to her and she's like, I
- 22:40can't see your lips and I don't want to. Yeah,
- 22:43continue making out with me. Yeah. And then he
- 22:45goes, but I want to talk about your traumatic
- 22:48thing that just happened to you. And then she's
- 22:50like, well, you just killed it. Yeah, he's cock
- 22:53-blocked himself. So yeah, she's like, I'm gonna
- 22:56go get a ride. And then she cock -blocks Emmett
- 22:59as well. Yeah, Bay is about to tell Emmett that
- 23:03she's Axe Girl. Huge moment. Huge moment. But
- 23:06then Daphne cock -blocks. Yeah, she texts him
- 23:08several times. And Bay is pissed. They're like
- 23:11laying on their bed, kicking their feet one minute.
- 23:14And then she is... Storming. She's storming out.
- 23:17This does start a trend that I really... don't
- 23:20like in Bay and Emmett's relationship where when
- 23:23she's upset and Emmett's trying to talk to her
- 23:26she'll be like I don't understand what you're
- 23:29saying. Even though she does. She just like doesn't
- 23:33want to hear him. For some- if you don't have sign
- 23:35he's still clearly very easy to understand. He's
- 23:39like basically doing mime work for her. His lip reading
- 23:43is very easy. Yeah. And she's like, I don't understand
- 23:46you and I don't want to. Yeah. It's basically,
- 23:49she doesn't want to hear it. And in the future,
- 23:52whenever they fight, she does, she falls back
- 23:54to that a lot being even when she's like fluent.
- 23:57She'll be like, what are you saying? And turn
- 23:59away from him and that is very frustrating.
- 24:02I would be furious if someone did that to me.
- 24:05Yeah. Fuming. So she storms out and she pulls
- 24:09down the blanket off the Daphne shrine as she
- 24:12leaves. And then they put the blanket up in the
- 24:14first place to just cover it. But yeah. Oh my
- 24:16God. And then we get a Toby sighting. Yeah, Toby
- 24:20is barely in this. He's just looking through
- 24:23boxes for some reason. And he finds a pic of
- 24:26John in underwear. And I guess an old Sports
- 24:29Illustrated ad? It's like a Calvin Klein ad.
- 24:32He was holding something in his hand. I think
- 24:34he was holding a, wasn't it? He's holding a baseball.
- 24:36Oh that makes sense. I posted the photo up close
- 24:39on our Instagram story today because it was so
- 24:42funny to me. But yeah we just, he just finds that
- 24:45and it like brings him so much joy and then he's
- 24:48gonna spend the rest of the episode showing- Looking
- 24:50for more. Looking for more and then showing every
- 24:53single person that's like in crisis in this episode.
- 24:56He pops up to be like, look at this, look at this
- 24:59funny photo for like two seconds. So question. Was
- 25:03this photoshopped or is this an old picture of
- 25:06DW Moffett? It looks kind of photoshopped to me
- 25:08because his head, no offense DW, but his head
- 25:12feels like small for his body or like the proportions
- 25:16seem wrong. The head seems disproportionate to
- 25:20the rest of the body. Yeah. And it's like a short
- 25:22curly haircut. But his hair is straight now.
- 25:26It's kind of odd. And it's so funny because we've
- 25:28just settled on, I think he's very sexy. I've
- 25:31decided, the actor. But he looks, yeah, he looks
- 25:34not cute at all. No, it's much younger photo.
- 25:37Not for me. Anyway, Emmett picks Daphne up and
- 25:40Wilke's like, girl, you're such a liar. You
- 25:43are. And then. Bay tries to call the Army? Bay
- 25:47like goes home. Calls the Army. Yeah she just- she
- 25:50must just like call the training base or whatever,
- 25:53and she's like can I speak to Ty? And they're
- 25:56like no. No. She's like what if I'm pregnant, can
- 25:58I speak to him then? And they hang up on her. Yeah.
- 26:01And then she's like what if I call Liam now? My
- 26:05jaw dropped when Liam's name came out of her
- 26:07mouth. Get a grip. Liam mentioned. And Toby says
- 26:10the same thing, basically. He's like, why are
- 26:12you doing this to yourself? He's like, why are
- 26:14you doing this? Look at this ad. Why don't you
- 26:16look at this old picture of your father instead?
- 26:19And then she's like, you're right, that does
- 26:20cheer me up. And then Regina's outside. Exterior
- 26:23driveway. Exterior driveway. She's trying to put
- 26:26this guitar case in her car. It's taking her a very
- 26:29long time to figure out how to put- the car is
- 26:31not that small. I know she's frazzled but yeah
- 26:34the guitar case also is not that big. There's
- 26:36not that much stuff in her car. Just do the
- 26:38back seat. She tries to put it through the driver's
- 26:41side first, and then she tries to put it in the
- 26:43back seat, but she like barely tries and then
- 26:46she goes and opens her trunk which looks like
- 26:48the smallest place of all to put it. Apparently
- 26:50that fits. Apparently it fits there. It's like
- 26:52she's trying to do like a square peg in a round
- 26:54hole like the entire time. Just a mess. But yeah,
- 26:57literally everyone crawls out. Every family member
- 27:00crawls out of the woodwork to watch her do this
- 27:04and be like, hey, what you doing? What you doing
- 27:06with the guitar case? It's kind of late to donate
- 27:08it. Yeah. Goodwill's not open. Bay's like, let
- 27:10me make art with it. But Bay knows something
- 27:13suspicious with that. Oh, for sure. And Regina
- 27:15is panicking, panicking, running. And she does
- 27:19end up driving to some dumpster to dump the guitar
- 27:22case, but then she can't. There's too many memories.
- 27:25Yeah. Yikes. That was a waste of a trip. And
- 27:28you also just brought so much attention to yourself.
- 27:30I know. Now everyone's going to be like... Why'd
- 27:33you do that? What's the deal with the guitar
- 27:34case? And Bay, in fact, texts Daphne, what's
- 27:38the deal with the guitar case? And Daphne ignores
- 27:40her while her and Emmett are outside her old
- 27:43house in East Riverside. Which I guess is vacant?
- 27:45They never rented it out. She's spiraling about
- 27:48how she misses her old life. And Emmett's like,
- 27:51but now you have a pool. Daphne and that damn
- 27:54pool. Goddamn pool again. Yeah. And then she
- 27:57reveals to Emmett that Regina knew. And the first
- 28:00thing he says is you need to tell Bay and she's
- 28:03like I don't give a shit about Bay right now.
- 28:05You need to support me. Yeah it's- tough choice
- 28:08Emmett to be like, and does Bay know? Like maybe
- 28:12we wait, maybe ask like two or three follow -up
- 28:15questions first before doing that. So, yeah,
- 28:18that obviously sends Daphne into a spiral. And
- 28:21then she gets that text with the flip phone with
- 28:23the iPhone interface. And it says, what was in
- 28:25the guitar case? And she's like, I'm going to
- 28:28ignore this because now I'm clocking that something's
- 28:31going on with Bay and Emmett even more and I'm
- 28:32mad about it. And she signs when they're talking
- 28:37and Emmett's like, well, you need to tell Bay.
- 28:39Daphne signs like, I need your support. Yes. But
- 28:43the captions say I need you on my side right
- 28:45now. Yes I did notice that. Which was interesting
- 28:48to me like the captions or the script clearly
- 28:50wants it to be more of like a me versus Bay thing.
- 28:54With the way it was interpreted. But she just signs
- 28:57like I just need your support which is not as
- 28:59opposing. Yeah. I did notice that too, I didn't
- 29:02write that down but I'm glad you caught that.
- 29:04I just thought it was a little huh. I wrote another
- 29:07one later of like a mismatch between the sign
- 29:09and the captions which I'll get to. Anyway, they
- 29:12go back to Emmett's and she decides to crash
- 29:15at Emmett's house. She crashes at Emmett's house
- 29:17and we know she slept there because they have
- 29:19Daphne on the couch with all of her hair, like
- 29:23pushed over her face. Yes. Like she's been rolling
- 29:27in her sleep, I guess. It was an odd choice to
- 29:31me. I can't sleep like that. No. My hair is always
- 29:34up. Yeah, I need my hair not on my face at all.
- 29:38Did you, did you notice the shirt she's wearing?
- 29:40No. She's wearing a shirt that says Pah, like P
- 29:44A H. Yeah. Which is ASL slang that means like
- 29:47finally, success, eureka. So I was like, did she-
- 29:51she didn't wear that shirt before. Did she borrow Emmett's
- 29:54shirt? Oh my god. Or did she just happen to have
- 29:57a t -shirt on her? Not clear. Could be. Or maybe
- 30:00it's Melody's. Probably Melody's. Because it did
- 30:02look like a woman's cut. Yeah, or I don't know
- 30:05Daphne might have clothes at Emmett's place. I
- 30:08don't know how, I don't know if they're friends
- 30:10like that. But I did think it was a missed opportunity
- 30:13on the showrunners to not create like a gag moment
- 30:17where we see Daphne waking up in Emmett's bed.
- 30:20And then we see the reveal that like she slept
- 30:23there but he slept on the couch kind of thing.
- 30:26And I felt it was sort of not on brand for Emmett
- 30:30to let her take the couch. Like I feel like he'd
- 30:34be like- he would offer the bed. I feel like he
- 30:35would yeah. Yeah. But they won't explain that. Maybe
- 30:38he's kind of like, Bay is not gonna like it if
- 30:41Daphne sleeps in my bed. I don't know. That could
- 30:44also be true. Maybe he's thinking more about
- 30:45what Bay would want. But he wakes Daphne up
- 30:48so sweetly. I know. He does a little gentle tap
- 30:50on the arm, which is the correct way to wake
- 30:52up a deaf person. Yeah, but it's also just like
- 30:54really cute. It is. This is the part where I
- 30:58noticed a mismatch between the captions and the
- 31:01signing because he's like, are you going to
- 31:03go back and talk to your mom? And Daphne signs,
- 31:07I guess we'll discuss it later. But the captions
- 31:09say, I guess I'll find out the rest tonight.
- 31:12I guess I'll find out the rest tonight instead
- 31:14of, like, we'll discuss it later. I don't know.
- 31:16I just thought it was, like, an interesting,
- 31:18like, finding out versus talking about it. I'm
- 31:21really curious, yeah, to the process that they
- 31:26used. If it was, if the script was, I guess I'll
- 31:30find out tonight. And then that's how, I mean,
- 31:32I don't think Katie Leclerc was doing her own
- 31:34interpretations. I think the sign language interpreter
- 31:37was helping. That translation? Yeah. One of the
- 31:41coaches. But so yeah I guess I wonder. I really
- 31:44want to know, like how that comes about. I don't
- 31:48know. Yeah. And then she finds printed out photos
- 31:51of Bay and Emmett like on the coffee table. Specifically
- 31:54from Bay and Emmett's day in the junkyard and
- 31:57she's not happy about it. Yeah. What were those
- 31:59doing out? They were just like random. On the coffee
- 32:02table? Put them in your room. Swap some Daphne
- 32:04pics out. This is like the last thing she wants
- 32:06to see. I get it. So she's- she's crashing out a
- 32:10little. Also just ties into like, big theme this
- 32:13episode is photos of Bay and Daphne. Yeah. Like
- 32:16physical printed out photos of Bay and Daphne.
- 32:18Physical media is a big one out here. It's time
- 32:21to get ready for the deposition. Yeah. Dress
- 32:23up time. There's so rarely moments, like sweet
- 32:27tender mother-daughter moments between Bay and
- 32:29Kathryn. Yeah Kathryn's trying on blazers
- 32:32and then they talk a little bit about why they're
- 32:34doing the deposition. Toby is digging through
- 32:37one of the many garages looking for more pictures
- 32:40of his dad. He's got nothing else going on. Well,
- 32:42he's suspended. Oh, that's right. He's suspended.
- 32:45So he's like killing time. So he shows the ad
- 32:48to Regina. Remember, he's showing it to everyone.
- 32:50And there's a fun metaphor from Regina because
- 32:54she says, some things are better left in the
- 32:56past and you're better off not digging around.
- 32:59Well, Regina, it's too late. I know. We already
- 33:01dug. And then she makes one more passive aggressive
- 33:04dig at John and Kathryn before they leave for
- 33:06the deposition. She says, break a leg. And when
- 33:09you do, you can sue the hospital again. What
- 33:11the fuck is your problem? Yeah. This affected
- 33:13you too. All eyes are on you right now. This
- 33:16is not the time to be... A dick. Be a dick. Yeah.
- 33:20And then we're at the deposition. Deposition
- 33:22time. And John and Kathryn are actually doing
- 33:25a really good job at first. They are. They're
- 33:27remaining very calm, giving good answers. But
- 33:30then. Duh duh. The opposition gives them a DNA test to
- 33:34read. And then he's like, look at the date, 98.
- 33:37So two years after the girls were born. Obviously,
- 33:41they flip out. So they're rightfully furious
- 33:44and very confused and hurt. So they're driving
- 33:47home and exterior driveway. Everyone is converging
- 33:51in and ambushing Regina. She's cornered. She's
- 33:55backed into a corner. It's time to confess. There's
- 33:58a big family meeting where Regina's basically
- 34:01on trial. But Toby. Yeah notably Toby is missing.
- 34:05He's not in this room. They fill him in off-screen,
- 34:08I guess. But she's like, she's very flustered, she
- 34:12said Angelo accused me of having an affair and
- 34:15then Daphne's- she brings up how traumatic the
- 34:18meningitis was. Right. That she was in the ICU
- 34:21for eight days and then while she was in the
- 34:24ICU, Angelo took a swab of her DNA and had it
- 34:28tested against his and then was like, I'm leaving.
- 34:32And he says, this proves that Daphne is not
- 34:34related to me. So therefore you cheated. And Regina
- 34:37said, no way. Yeah. She has Daphne tested again.
- 34:40And I assume this is where the DNA test that
- 34:43Kathryn and John read at the deposition comes
- 34:45from. But yeah, the results come back the same
- 34:48that the two aren't related. She was like, she
- 34:50was mine at that point. It's been three years.
- 34:52And I think she was scared. She says she was
- 34:55scared because she was a single parent and an
- 34:58alcoholic. Right. Unemployed. Yeah, unemployed.
- 35:01She'd already had one or multiple DUIs at this
- 35:05point. And she was like, I was going to lose
- 35:06custody of my baby. And she was probably right. Absolutely.
- 35:09Because the Kennishes have already tried once
- 35:12to petition for full custody. I mean, they never
- 35:14took it to court, but they were talking amongst
- 35:16themselves about doing it when the girls are
- 35:1816 or almost 16. So, definitely when she was three,
- 35:23they totally would have done that. I have no
- 35:26doubt that they would have done that. So I do
- 35:28see where Regina's coming from there. Like she
- 35:31was in a no-win situation. Exactly. I do like
- 35:34that even though Daphne is obviously very upset,
- 35:37she does yell at John when he keeps interrupting
- 35:41Regina. And that was nice. But yeah, and then
- 35:44she's like, after I found out, I got my life
- 35:46together. I got sober. This doesn't really track
- 35:49with the story she told Toby. In the poker episode.
- 35:52What did she tell Toby? She said it took her like-
- 35:55Oh like being accountable to other people? Of
- 35:57time yeah a bunch of times and like it only happened
- 36:01once CPS threatened to take Daphne away from
- 36:03her and I'm like how long after the meningitis
- 36:06situation did CPS threaten to take her away? But
- 36:10whatever, she's giving a summarized sort of, it's
- 36:12a TLDR version. Oh my god, we know nothing from
- 36:16the ages between 3 and 8. It drives me crazy.
- 36:19When did CPS? We don't know. We have no idea.
- 36:21Why wasn't CPS like, hey, your deaf child doesn't
- 36:24have access to any language? I don't know. That's
- 36:27not CPS's problem. That's- CPS is more like abuse
- 36:30and neglect. I guess that is. That's abuse and
- 36:32neglect. Right? Like, hey, here's a pamphlet.
- 36:35Yeah, here's a pamphlet. Some access to educational
- 36:38materials. How about we help you take a class?
- 36:41Yeah. But Bay, rightfully, at this point is like,
- 36:44You kept Daphne, great, but what about me? You
- 36:47robbed me of the experience of getting to know
- 36:49my bio parents. And Regina's like, well, I hired
- 36:52a private investigator to tail you. It's okay,
- 36:54I followed you all the time. Yeah. Not helpful.
- 36:56I was always watching. Creepy. That's also terrifying
- 37:00to know that you were being watched all through
- 37:03your childhood. For sure. Terrifying. She storms
- 37:06off and Kathryn follows. Kathryn is being
- 37:10more empathetic, she's giving her tissues. I think
- 37:12also she's doing like the mother bear thing of
- 37:14like I think I get it. That makes sense as the
- 37:17other mother in the situation, like, that Kathryn
- 37:20would understand the most but yeah John is fuming
- 37:24and is basically like, we're going to get custody.
- 37:27He goes and tells Kathryn he wants custody.
- 37:29Bay runs off to Emmett and she's sobbing and
- 37:33he's saying, you've got to slow down. Yeah, he's
- 37:36not understanding any of this. She's word vomiting.
- 37:39And she's like, this can't work. And then he
- 37:41grabs her arm and pulls her back and turns out
- 37:43it can work because sobbing into someone's shoulder
- 37:46is kind of... It's universal. It's universal.
- 37:48Aww. Yeah, and then here come the shoes on the
- 37:52bed. Purple Converse on the bed, tapping her
- 37:54feet, angrily listening to music. Time for simcom
- 37:57again. Regina comes in and she says, I made a
- 38:00choice that I thought was best for everyone.
- 38:02And that is tough because throughout this whole
- 38:05thing, she does say like, I did what I thought
- 38:07was best, but it's kind of like she made the
- 38:09choice for everyone. But is it really a choice
- 38:12if no one else had a say in it? She becomes really
- 38:15defensive with Daphne. In a way that she doesn't
- 38:19with anyone else who's like upset about this.
- 38:21Yeah and she does say that here. She's like I
- 38:25raised you and I did a good job, so you shouldn't
- 38:28be mad at me. If you had grown up here it would
- 38:30have been all different. And she, I think she implies
- 38:32that like you wouldn't have learned sign. You
- 38:34would not have been- Okay well with you she didn't
- 38:37get to learn sign until she was eight you asshole
- 38:39so like I don't know. I genuinely I don't know.
- 38:43Right. And neither does Daphne. Daphne says I- We'll
- 38:46never know now. Right. Because you robbed me
- 38:49of that experience. Regina just goes about it
- 38:51all wrong. I don't know why. She basically starts
- 38:54yelling at Daphne like any of this is Daphne's
- 38:56fault. She should be begging for Daphne's forgiveness
- 38:59and understanding. And also she should be okay
- 39:02with not getting those things because that's
- 39:05a 15 year old. Also, she just found out five
- 39:08minutes ago. Yeah. Give her a second. Give her
- 39:10some space. Give her some time. Give her some
- 39:11perspective. And which they do. John is like,
- 39:14you gotta leave. And Daphne is also like, I need
- 39:18some space from you. Yeah. How do you feel about
- 39:20this? Like, I'm kind of, I don't think that John
- 39:23should be like, we're going to get custody. But
- 39:25I think it's totally in his rights to be like,
- 39:28I do not want you on my property right now. I
- 39:30think that's fair to need some space from someone
- 39:32you're angry with. Yeah. So you don't do anything
- 39:35stupid or say anything stupid. Gives you time
- 39:37to think. Yeah. Yeah. Take a walk. Or just like as
- 39:41a parent I don't want you near the kids for a
- 39:44while because your actions upset them so much.
- 39:46Yeah it's tough because Daphne is legally not
- 39:49their child so they- John wants to change that.
- 39:52Yeah John wants to change that but also I think
- 39:54Daphne is old enough now to say when she wants
- 39:57space. Another thing that made me mad and I wanted
- 40:00to know your opinion is, she turns Daphne's music
- 40:04off. That was annoying. And like has her take
- 40:06the headphones off. And it's like, girl, what?
- 40:08So you can simcom? Maybe just fucking sign. I
- 40:11guess the music is probably distracting and it
- 40:14was really loud for Daphne. Whatever. But yeah,
- 40:17I'd be furious. That's like part of the beauty
- 40:19of sign language. If my partner or my parents
- 40:22took the headphones off my head. I would lose
- 40:24it. I would lose it. I'm already mad. Right.
- 40:27And she's already so pissed. And Regina comes
- 40:29in like on this high horse. Yeah. So high and
- 40:32mighty about the way that she raised Daphne.
- 40:35I know. She's just forgotten about those five
- 40:38fucking years, I guess. I don't know. I'm mad
- 40:40about those five years. I think we're always
- 40:41going to be mad about them. Yeah. And I'm going
- 40:43to hold them against Regina forever. No, we should
- 40:46continue talking about. Yeah. The dark years.
- 40:49It's worse than her not telling anyone about
- 40:52the switch, I think. Yes. Yeah. So Daphne says,
- 40:55get out. Yeah. She says, get out. Where is Adriana?
- 40:58Who's to say? Where is she? When Daphne's like,
- 41:01please leave. I'm like, well, it's fine because
- 41:03there's still an adult there. No, there isn't.
- 41:05Where is she? Where the hell is she? So yeah,
- 41:08she's like, please leave. Does she know? She
- 41:11doesn't know either, right? I think that's Daphne's
- 41:13first question. Like, did grandma know? Because
- 41:15for Daphne, she's like, oh my God, my mom's been
- 41:18lying to me my entire life. And she's like, oh,
- 41:20it's just my mom. It's just my mom, not my mom
- 41:22and my grandma, which I think would make me feel
- 41:24better. Yeah. And then Regina is leaving and
- 41:28Toby comes out and comforts her. Toby and Regina's
- 41:32relationship is like very random to me. It's
- 41:34only because of that poker episode that they
- 41:37have somewhat of a decent relationship. And it's
- 41:39just like, I don't know what happened. I heard
- 41:41some screaming and whatever. But whatever you
- 41:43did, I'm sure it'll be fine. Toby, maybe don't
- 41:45speak so soon. Yeah. Toby, you know nothing.
- 41:49I would walk right to Bay and maybe comfort my
- 41:51sister and be like, what's going on? That would
- 41:53have been a good idea. Yeah. And then is that
- 41:55the end of the episode? Yeah. Regina drives away.
- 41:59She goes to Melody, and Daphne looks out the window.
- 42:01That's the end of the episode. Good episode.
- 42:04This was a great episode too. Drama filled. I
- 42:07can't believe how much shoes on the bed we get.
- 42:09Because then Emmett and Bay, when they're in
- 42:12his room, they're also their feet are up, but
- 42:15their- Shoes are also on in the house, and on the
- 42:18bed. Do we think it's like a thing about not
- 42:21showing actors' feet? I think it's just a thing
- 42:23like you're on set and you don't really walk around
- 42:26with barefoot or just socks on. Yeah, but like
- 42:30there's so much attention to detail to so many
- 42:33things on set. And I've worn- I used to be a background
- 42:36actor for reference. I've worn so much like uncomfortable
- 42:39wardrobe that did not make sense for the setting
- 42:42we were in because that's what the scene called
- 42:44for. So it doesn't feel like they'd be like,
- 42:47feel free to leave your shoes on, guys. Interesting.
- 42:50I don't know. I think this is such a common thing
- 42:52in TV shows and movies. Is it common in real
- 42:55life? Do you think it's common in real life and
- 42:58we just aren't seeing these people? My parents
- 43:00are shoes in the house people. We're not shoes
- 43:02on the bed, God forbid, but they are shoes in
- 43:05the house people. I personally am not. Like their
- 43:07outside shoes? Yeah. Like everywhere or just
- 43:10downstairs? Everywhere. That's crazy because
- 43:13when I was at your house, I was taking off my
- 43:15shoes. That's because I take off my shoes. Yeah.
- 43:18That's I just think like my default. Yeah. Unless
- 43:21someone tells me I'm going to take off my shoes.
- 43:23The second I got to college, I was like shoes
- 43:25off. But when you were growing up, were you shoes
- 43:28off or were you shoes on? I was always shoes
- 43:30on. Always. So like when you would wake up in
- 43:34the morning and get dressed? The shoes were downstairs.
- 43:37Okay. I usually took them off to go in, but like
- 43:39if I was like stomping around, I could wear them.
- 43:43I wasn't being scolded. That's so funny. But
- 43:46like they're not a shoes on the couch. You have
- 43:47like a beautiful white couch. Yeah, but no, we
- 43:51don't do shoes on the couch. So then it's feet
- 43:53on the floor if your shoes are on. Yeah. It's
- 43:57just not something that's been a problem since
- 43:59I was like seven. Yeah, it really horrifies me
- 44:02in TV shows. It's such a, yeah, it's such a pet
- 44:06peeve. And, like, shoes on the coffee table.
- 44:09Gross. Yeah, gross. A won't let me put my feet
- 44:12on the coffee table at all, even with socks on.
- 44:14I think that a coffee table is, like, half of
- 44:17its purpose is just for you to put your feet
- 44:20on. A won't let me. Can you put, like, a pillow
- 44:23on the coffee table and then put your feet on
- 44:25that? I think it's... The problem is we do have
- 44:28a cat and she sheds and the hair sticks to her
- 44:31feet and then I put my feet on the table and
- 44:33then I think she's like, no. Yeah, but like,
- 44:36can't Piper get on that table? Yeah, she can
- 44:38get everywhere. Wait, so Piper's allowed to put
- 44:40her feet on the coffee table, but you're not?
- 44:43You're right. I'm fighting with A tonight.
