- 0:04Speaker 1: Power Rankings is powered by Arena Club. Oh gosh, what
- 0:09Speaker 1: do we have for September? Aj Prazinski?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Wow?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Is that your power ranking?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Well, I have to write them down because I have
- 0:15Speaker 3: to send them to producer lad.
- 0:16Speaker 1: On paper, lay them out, give it to us.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Okay, Well, I'm going Dodgers one just because I've had
- 0:21Speaker 4: Dodgers one all year and nothing's changed or starting to
- 0:23Speaker 4: get healthy, so there's still one for me.
- 0:25Speaker 3: They're number one of my heart Dodgers.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Then Brewers make crats happy with Brewers Phillies, Phillies. Probably
- 0:31Speaker 4: maybe two if Wheeler wasn't hurt, but he's hurt, so
- 0:34Speaker 4: that heard.
- 0:34Speaker 1: But above the Brewers, Yeah.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I just think they're bill for October with their power
- 0:38Speaker 4: and what they have. Listen, these are my power Rankings,
- 0:41Speaker 4: not yours. Okay, Scott, shut up. M'm Tigers because they
- 0:46Speaker 4: have the best record in the American League.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I love the Blue Jays pitching the way they're swinging it.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Then we get to the Cubs, Astros are seven just
- 0:52Speaker 4: because they're leading the division. Yankees and Met The Yankees
- 0:55Speaker 4: and Red Sox are tied because that's what they deserve.
- 0:57Speaker 4: And then the Mets are ten and then there's two
- 0:59Speaker 4: playoff teams that aren't there. Can you name them, Scott?
- 1:01Speaker 4: They're in the playoffs right now.
- 1:03Speaker 1: The Mariners.
- 1:07Speaker 4: And the Padres yep, Padres are banged up doll Hill
- 1:11Speaker 4: and the Mariners can't win a game east of Spokane,
- 1:14Speaker 4: So I mean, yeah, it's gonna be tough.
- 1:17Speaker 1: You can't separate the Yankees and the Red Sox for
- 1:20Speaker 1: they're tied. You couldn't give us an eight nine?
- 1:22Speaker 3: I did, they're tied?
- 1:23Speaker 1: How's the season series going?
- 1:25Speaker 3: I don't know what they're tired right now?
- 1:26Speaker 1: The Red Sox are beating the crap out of them
- 1:28Speaker 1: in the season.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Your power ranking, Scott les, you broke the Wolves ten teams.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I gave ten teams.
- 1:37Speaker 1: One through ten. Nine.
- 1:39Speaker 5: I don't see nine there, Scott.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Okay, but just give me an eight? Okay?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Fine? Ten is the White Sox No?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Eight? Who's eight nine? Which one? Yankees Red Sox are tied?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Which one you're tired? Come on, you can't give me
- 1:53Speaker 1: an eight nine?
- 1:56Speaker 6: I didn't see what Scott was talking about, but now
- 1:58Speaker 6: tied for eighth. AJ just wants to do the Fox
- 2:02Speaker 6: Premier game later this month. Yankees, Red Sox so he
- 2:06Speaker 6: doesn't want to doesn't.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Want to ruffles.
- 2:09Speaker 3: No, I've done that game. I did one that went
- 2:11Speaker 3: like fifteen innings. It took five hours.
- 2:13Speaker 1: That's a normal.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I think I fell asleep three times in that game.
- 2:17Speaker 1: All right, well, the Red Sox have the season series,
- 2:20Speaker 1: so we'll give it to them for now.
- 2:21Speaker 3: You can't change my power.
- 2:23Speaker 1: You give me your You broke the rules.
- 2:26Speaker 3: You break the rules all the time.
- 2:27Speaker 1: No, I don't. I always go one through ten, prats,
- 2:30Speaker 1: did you go one through ten?
- 2:31Speaker 6: I did? But producer lady asked me.
- 2:33Speaker 2: It was weird.
- 2:34Speaker 6: She asked me because I accidentally put eleven down. I
- 2:37Speaker 6: thought I had ten. She goes, is somebody tied? Is
- 2:40Speaker 6: somebody tied in your list? I was like, no, why
- 2:42Speaker 6: and I had put the so I said, beat it.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Drop the cubs out of there. So that's that's what's
- 2:48Speaker 6: gonna get me some visceral ten. I don't.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Oh, go then go everyone watching mart My list was bad,
- 3:05Speaker 5: really not in the top ten.
- 3:06Speaker 1: All right, go ahead, crats.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Ten other teams that are better.
- 3:10Speaker 6: So I'm going Phillies, Dodgers, Brewers, Tigers, Padres, Blue Jays.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Blue Jays are the second our number six and the
- 3:21Speaker 6: second American League team that I have in there, Astros, Mets, Yankees,
- 3:26Speaker 6: Red Sox. The Yankees are ahead of the Red Sox,
- 3:29Speaker 6: and I changed it because Rum and Anthony, I think
- 3:33Speaker 6: is a huge part. That's how close they are. I
- 3:35Speaker 6: would agree, but there's something for each team. Like I
- 3:39Speaker 6: can't sit here and go okay, the Padres bullpen, and
- 3:43Speaker 6: I guess I was kind of more thinking playoff team.
- 3:46Speaker 6: The Padres bullpen in the playoffs is going to be
- 3:49Speaker 6: a prop to me, it's gonna be such a problem
- 3:51Speaker 6: that I think, out of all these teams, that bullpen
- 3:54Speaker 6: in the playoffs might be the biggest superpower of any
- 3:58Speaker 6: of these teams. Because the Dodgers have issues with their lineups,
- 4:02Speaker 6: the Phillies can be pitched to. The Brewers don't hit
- 4:06Speaker 6: enough Dingers, the Tigers, unless Terrek Scoogle is good enough,
- 4:11Speaker 6: maybe he doesn't, you know, maybe they don't even make
- 4:13Speaker 6: it out of.
- 4:13Speaker 3: The first round.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Like to me, that Padres bullpen is a superpower that
- 4:19Speaker 6: all these other teams don't have. Don't have that.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Kind of superpower.
- 4:24Speaker 1: In my opinion, that's a great call. Seriously, it's a
- 4:28Speaker 1: great call. I think the Padres are receiving too much
- 4:31Speaker 1: hate right now because of what's happening through the rest
- 4:34Speaker 1: of the regulars.
- 4:35Speaker 3: They lost.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Jason Adam agreed, that's why I knocked down guys.
- 4:40Speaker 6: They don't have a shortstop. They have nine shortstops. They
- 4:45Speaker 6: all played shortstop in the big lead. Is it gonna
- 4:49Speaker 6: be tough? You can't just replace a big league shortstop.
- 4:51Speaker 6: I get that, But you have the Phillies number one
- 4:54Speaker 6: without Wheeler Aaron Nola pitched last night.
- 4:58Speaker 3: They're still number one.
- 5:00Speaker 6: I didn't even have well, I made my list before yesterday,
- 5:03Speaker 6: but I have, But I honestly didn't even have Aaron
- 5:08Speaker 6: Nola pitching in the playoffs for him. I know it's
- 5:10Speaker 6: crazy to have three lefties, but what do we just
- 5:12Speaker 6: talk about that left handed pitchers have the Even they're
- 5:15Speaker 6: having a better season against righties all throughout the league,
- 5:20Speaker 6: they have three left handed pitchers. Aaron Nola might get
- 5:23Speaker 6: a start in Game four, in my opinion. I know
- 5:25Speaker 6: they want to split up the lefties. He can't go
- 5:27Speaker 6: three straight lefties. But to me, he hasn't proven that
- 5:31Speaker 6: he is in the playoff rotation yet. He has a
- 5:34Speaker 6: history of it. He has a history of being really
- 5:36Speaker 6: good in the playoffs for him this year. To me,
- 5:40Speaker 6: it doesn't look like it. And I get it. No Nola,
- 5:42Speaker 6: no Wheeler. I think those other three guys, though, you
- 5:45Speaker 6: can match up against any other three guys that are
- 5:49Speaker 6: going to be the top three pitchers in there in
- 5:53Speaker 6: the playoffs, and I think you go Lozardo game two
- 5:56Speaker 6: because right now he shows he can give you four innings.
- 5:59Speaker 6: The fifth inning is kryptonite. And game two you got
- 6:02Speaker 6: an off day of the next day most likely, and
- 6:04Speaker 6: then you just drain the bullpen.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Ready for mine.
- 6:10Speaker 3: No, they're skipping yours, crats.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I went one through ten. I followed the rules.
- 6:17Speaker 6: Need o gang.
- 6:19Speaker 1: If I did two eights, you would talk about it
- 6:23Speaker 1: for the ten teams.
- 6:25Speaker 3: No, ten teams.
- 6:27Speaker 1: You wait. Give us always find something and then he'll
- 6:32Speaker 1: bring it up forever.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Give us your ranking.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Brewers one best record, fair right, They're still in a
- 6:39Speaker 1: good spot for me. I think that they have a
- 6:43Speaker 1: better chance this year in the playoffs than they have
- 6:46Speaker 1: in the past. Dodgers two for me based on talent
- 6:51Speaker 1: track records. Right now, you don't like the Mets. Third,
- 6:56Speaker 1: why you.
- 6:58Speaker 3: All you talk about is how bad they are in
- 7:00Speaker 3: a rotation stakes.
- 7:02Speaker 1: They have a whole new rotation. They got a makeover
- 7:05Speaker 1: in September, glam up in September.
- 7:08Speaker 4: The Mets better than the Phillies, and you are records
- 7:10Speaker 4: and this and that, the Phillies.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Are way ahead of the Mets. I don't give a crap.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Oh, but then you said the Yankees.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Rot right now. If I match those two teams up,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I like the Mets better than the Phillies. Okay for me,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I like the Mets lineup better. In the first season.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think they cannot win in city field. I think
- 7:28Speaker 1: the Mets can grab a game in Philly. And I
- 7:31Speaker 1: think the starting rotation is going to make all the
- 7:33Speaker 1: difference for this team now because the kids are bawling,
- 7:36Speaker 1: the kids are bopping, and the Phillies are right there,
- 7:38Speaker 1: They're right next to them. I couldn't put a tie
- 7:40Speaker 1: for third because that's not allowed, So I put Mets
- 7:43Speaker 1: then Phillies. This is big for me. Usually I do
- 7:46Speaker 1: top six teams from the National League all in the
- 7:49Speaker 1: top six on my power rankings. But I am buying
- 7:52Speaker 1: what the Blue Jays are selling. Yes, I have the
- 7:54Speaker 1: Blue Jays over the Tigers. I think the Blue I
- 7:58Speaker 1: think half of their starting rotations gonna end up in
- 8:00Speaker 1: the bullpen.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Half of five is too they have six starters? Which
- 8:04Speaker 4: half guy goes into the bullpen?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Will you tell me? Let's go through that they have
- 8:07Speaker 1: six starters.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Well is already in the bullpen? They have five?
- 8:09Speaker 1: Right, so that Derek Lauer he goes to the bullpen.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Who's starting game one for you? I think some of
- 8:13Speaker 1: it depends on who they're going up against, right, But
- 8:16Speaker 1: you can make a case for five starters. I think
- 8:18Speaker 1: Shane Bieber is definitely going to start a playoff game
- 8:20Speaker 1: for you.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Okay, so what half of guy goes to the bullpen?
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think Gosman will start, I think Bieber will start.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think sures Are will probably start, and then maybe
- 8:31Speaker 1: Bassett's a guy who's done it before. Who out of
- 8:33Speaker 1: the bullpen? And Barrios in the best of seven series
- 8:37Speaker 1: is here is one of your four starters in a
- 8:39Speaker 1: shorter series, maybe he comes out of the bullpen too.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Depends who's good in a starting role and who am
- 8:44Speaker 1: I worried about coming out of the bullpen. But anyway,
- 8:46Speaker 1: the point is that I think there's enough depth there.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I like the lineup. I think there's enough pop to
- 8:51Speaker 1: win in the playoffs and there's a ton of contact.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I like the Blue Jays, so I'm popping them up
- 8:56Speaker 1: in the five spot. Then I've got the Cubs six,
- 8:59Speaker 1: the seven, just because of what they're going through right now.
- 9:02Speaker 1: But I'm like Krats, I think knocking them too much.
- 9:06Speaker 3: You have to score some runs at some point.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Agreed, got the run. I'm worried about the power. It's
- 9:11Speaker 1: a team that's what bottom three or five in power
- 9:13Speaker 1: this year, and Jason Adam injury is big. Right. It's
- 9:16Speaker 1: a scary bullpen, but it's a little less scary now
- 9:18Speaker 1: because it's four instead of five, Tigers eight, Astro's nine,
- 9:22Speaker 1: Red Sox ten. We know essentially who the playoff teams
- 9:26Speaker 1: are already, so you have to leave two playoff teams
- 9:28Speaker 1: out right now. The Mariners are looking messy, but again,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I think they could be dangerous in the playoffs too,
- 9:32Speaker 1: if the starting pitching finds it In the nah I've
- 9:36Speaker 1: been on that train for a while and they're letting
- 9:38Speaker 1: everyone down right now. And then the Yankees for me,
- 9:41Speaker 1: because I can separate the Yankees in the Red Sox
- 9:43Speaker 1: at ten and eleven.
- 9:47Speaker 6: No Red Sox does that. Would that have been different
- 9:51Speaker 6: if Roman Anthony was still.
- 9:52Speaker 1: In No, I have the Red Sox. The Red Sox
- 9:53Speaker 1: are ten.
- 9:54Speaker 3: No, no Yankees, No Yankees. I'm sorry.
- 9:57Speaker 1: The Red Sox are better than the Yankees right now
- 10:00Speaker 1: because of the bullpen. Because the bullpen, Yes, the Red
- 10:03Speaker 1: Sox bullpen is better than the Yankees. When you match
- 10:05Speaker 1: those two teams up against each other, the Red Sox
- 10:07Speaker 1: are a good matchup or the Red Sox like facing
- 10:10Speaker 1: the Yankees this year. I think that's fair. So if
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'm putting those two teams against each other for the
- 10:14Speaker 1: ten spot, I take Red Sox Astros for me. Get
- 10:18Speaker 1: back in the mix with your on your down's insane,
- 10:20Speaker 1: which is going to lead us to the next segment
- 10:22Speaker 1: because we're gonna get to Chandler Rome in a minute.
- 10:24Speaker 1: But let's ever let everyone know about Arena Club where
- 10:27Speaker 1: you can buy, sell, trade, open slab packs and you

- 10:38Speaker 1: twenty percent off your first slab pack or card purchase
- 10:40Speaker 1: at arenaclub dot com slash foul. That's Arena club dot

- 10:51Speaker 1: so wait till you see next week. All right, keep
- 10:53Speaker 1: us all on here as you bring in Chandler Rome
- 10:56Speaker 1: from the Athletic and of course the one of the
- 10:59Speaker 1: stars of Crush City territory. Uh, Chandler, great to talk
- 11:02Speaker 1: to you.
- 11:03Speaker 3: You have a TV.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, here, what do you want to hear in some feedback?
- 11:07Speaker 1: I want to have a clean interview here.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I don't own a television, so it can't be my TV,
- 11:14Speaker 2: you know how.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And the radio callers sometimes will be like, hey, come down,
- 11:17Speaker 1: you're well. I'm gonna wait for my production team to
- 11:22Speaker 1: tell me this is okay. Are we sounding good? Oh,
- 11:24Speaker 1: it's it's gone. Okay.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Chandler finally muted himself.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We're good, We're good. All right, So Chandler, let's let's
- 11:29Speaker 1: start with a question from Eric Kratz. Ask the question
- 11:33Speaker 1: of Chandler, who's in the clubhouse every day for the Astros.
- 11:36Speaker 1: The question that you have about PitchCom device is being
- 11:40Speaker 1: used by other teammates.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Was it ever asked of Payana or Altuve or the
- 11:47Speaker 6: center fielder who also have a PitchCom device? What pitch
- 11:52Speaker 6: was called in the infamous Framber Valdez Saysar Salazar incident.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It was not, and maybe that's a dereliction of duty
- 12:03Speaker 2: on our part. I to be completely honest with you,
- 12:06Speaker 2: I can't. I don't know who specifically on the field.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Where's PitchCom devices for the ashers. I know at one
- 12:12Speaker 2: point Pania was. I know at one point they had
- 12:15Speaker 2: the third basement wearing it. Depending on who it was Altuve,
- 12:18Speaker 2: I don't believe. I think al too a DH that game,
- 12:21Speaker 2: so he wouldn't have been in the field with it on.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But no, that was not asked of the guys. It's
- 12:26Speaker 2: a good thought and it's something we probably should have
- 12:28Speaker 2: thought of. But I mean to kind of peel the
- 12:30Speaker 2: curtain back a little bit. I mean, we walked in
- 12:33Speaker 2: that clubhouse and the first thing we saw was you know,
- 12:36Speaker 2: Fromber and Saysar Salazar having a discussion at Salazar's locker,
- 12:41Speaker 2: and then bench Cojo mar Lopez came in and escorted
- 12:44Speaker 2: both of them into the manager's office. So we were
- 12:46Speaker 2: a little bit preoccupied, just kind of, you know, watching
- 12:49Speaker 2: that unfold and to kind of see what was going
- 12:52Speaker 2: on next, to maybe think that far ahead, and to
- 12:54Speaker 2: be honest with you, Eric, we didn't know what their
- 12:57Speaker 2: stories were going to be coming out, so we walked in.
- 13:00Speaker 2: We really couldn't have the wherewithal to think, all right,
- 13:02Speaker 2: let's go hear what was called and what wasn't called,
- 13:05Speaker 2: because we didn't get all those details until Fromber and
- 13:09Speaker 2: say Sar Salazar spoke to us afterward, and by that
- 13:12Speaker 2: point the clubhouse pretty much cleared out and the players
- 13:16Speaker 2: no no reheal players there to talk to anymore.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I have the book too, by the way, I'm just
- 13:21Speaker 3: I have the same.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Night Jeff Fletcher, shout out Fletch.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I just wanted to throw that out there. I
- 13:27Speaker 4: have a lot of books here that Scott won't let
- 13:28Speaker 4: me read. But that's a different story. Chandler, you know
- 13:32Speaker 4: Korea had a PitchCom I mean, there's no way Korea
- 13:34Speaker 4: doesn't play short stud without knowing what's coming. He likes
- 13:36Speaker 4: to be in control of almost everything, so you know
- 13:38Speaker 4: you know that he had the pitchcomp. The thing for
- 13:41Speaker 4: me is you mentioned when you walked in there that
- 13:43Speaker 4: they were talking, But there's now reports coming out that
- 13:46Speaker 4: the players on the astros weren't happy and they made
- 13:50Speaker 4: fromb Or go over and talk to him.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Has anyone figured out.
- 13:53Speaker 4: The chain of eventser and then they went and Joe
- 13:55Speaker 4: a spot his office and then they all came out
- 13:57Speaker 4: with kind of the same story.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Oh, I would never do thath blah blah blah whatever.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Frommer and his agent's got doing the PR tour saying
- 14:03Speaker 4: this is ridiculous. But does anyone ever is that true?
- 14:07Speaker 4: First of all, that the players on the Astros went
- 14:09Speaker 4: the Frommer said, hey, you need to apologize and you
- 14:11Speaker 4: need to act better toward Salazar. And then do we
- 14:14Speaker 4: know what Joe Spottas said to him other than what
- 14:16Speaker 4: he said in his press conference yesterday?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to pretend like I
- 14:20Speaker 2: was in the room and I know exactly what happened,
- 14:23Speaker 2: you know. I Look, I can say that there were
- 14:25Speaker 2: some there were some frustrations. There were some frustrations in there.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I don't know to what level it rose. I don't
- 14:31Speaker 2: know the chain of command of who apologized when was
- 14:34Speaker 2: there a forced apology? Like, I don't know, So I
- 14:36Speaker 2: don't want to speak out of turn. All I can
- 14:38Speaker 2: know is what fromer Velde has told us after the
- 14:40Speaker 2: game that he apologized to Saysar Salas are both in
- 14:44Speaker 2: the dugout after the fifth inning and after the game.
- 14:48Speaker 2: That is what he told us. We asked Asar salas
- 14:52Speaker 2: aar if he felt an apology was required, and he
- 14:55Speaker 2: kind of said no, he didn't and just kind of
- 14:57Speaker 2: reiterated how good of a relationship that he's built with
- 15:00Speaker 2: and how and how well they work, how well they
- 15:03Speaker 2: work together. So you know, I I wasn't in there,
- 15:07Speaker 2: so I'm not going to try to put words in
- 15:09Speaker 2: people's mouth or figure out what was and what didn't happen.
- 15:13Speaker 2: There was some frustration, Don't get me wrong, I do
- 15:16Speaker 2: know that, but I can't give you a blow by
- 15:19Speaker 2: blow of who apologized. When, was it a forced apology?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Was it was it made?
- 15:24Speaker 3: You know?
- 15:25Speaker 2: All I All I can tell you is what the
- 15:26Speaker 2: people told us on the record and from ber Valdez
- 15:28Speaker 2: told us that he apologized twice to say Sarsalas are
- 15:32Speaker 2: on Tuesday.
- 15:33Speaker 6: The dynamic of that clubhouse, who would be the guy
- 15:37Speaker 6: if you were to guess, because Korea just got back,
- 15:40Speaker 6: I know he has a lot of clout there. Who
- 15:42Speaker 6: would be the guy that would get up in Fromber's
- 15:45Speaker 6: face or maybe make this make sure we like, hey,
- 15:48Speaker 6: we're addressing this. This isn't gonna just get swept under
- 15:51Speaker 6: the rug like like we like, I feel like it
- 15:54Speaker 6: kind of has been.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I mean, we've got video evidence of Carlos Korea getting
- 15:59Speaker 2: in front ravel does his face in the twenty twenty
- 16:01Speaker 2: ALCS at Petco Park in Tampa. So Fromber and Korea
- 16:06Speaker 2: do have history, even though Korea just got back here
- 16:09Speaker 2: a month ago. You know, Correa is probably that guy,
- 16:12Speaker 2: the guy that's going to be the one to take
- 16:14Speaker 2: to take hold here. Don't discount hose al Twove either.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I know he's a quiet guy. I know he's a
- 16:19Speaker 2: guy that usually doesn't love the spotlight, doesn't love being
- 16:24Speaker 2: the focus of things. But he's a leader in there
- 16:27Speaker 2: and he will he'll speak up when he has to.
- 16:29Speaker 2: He probably will never do it publicly, he'll never do
- 16:31Speaker 2: it when the cameras are on, and he'll never tell
- 16:33Speaker 2: anyone that he did that. But he is he is
- 16:36Speaker 2: capable of doing that. So it'd be those two guys.
- 16:38Speaker 2: And then you know, Joe Espota had a playbook for this,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and he had to use this playbook a couple of
- 16:45Speaker 2: months ago when from ervel Does questioned openly questioned the
- 16:48Speaker 2: Astors defensive positioning after his start against the Nationals, you know,
- 16:53Speaker 2: Fromber made his comments that night and then they kind
- 16:57Speaker 2: of set off a firestorm. We had not we talked
- 17:00Speaker 2: from Er that night after we talked to Joe Aspata,
- 17:02Speaker 2: so we didn't have a chance to ask Joe Aspata
- 17:04Speaker 2: about it. The next day, Joe Aspata opened his pregame
- 17:09Speaker 2: news conference with a statement similar to the one he
- 17:12Speaker 2: said yesterday, similar to the one he gave yesterday, and
- 17:15Speaker 2: then basically said, this is it. I'm not taking any
- 17:17Speaker 2: more questions. I'm not talking about it anymore. Yesterday he
- 17:20Speaker 2: was asked a couple of follow up questions, and I
- 17:23Speaker 2: mean he gave he gave answers, but didn't really answer
- 17:25Speaker 2: the question like he responded to them. But the answers
- 17:28Speaker 2: were not He didn't, you know, divulge anything else. So
- 17:32Speaker 2: they were clearly on that playbook of let's address it
- 17:36Speaker 2: once a pregame on Wednesday, and then, as Joe Aspata said,
- 17:40Speaker 2: put it behind us, and they seem to do that.
- 17:43Speaker 2: They went out and beat the Yankees eight to seven.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And like I said on Krush City Territory this morning,
- 17:47Speaker 2: the thing I love about baseball is that the new
- 17:50Speaker 2: cycle just constantly moves right like this isn't football where
- 17:53Speaker 2: you have to wait six days for another game. This
- 17:56Speaker 2: isn't basketball where there could be a day or two
- 17:58Speaker 2: between games and the new cycle can on. Like the
- 18:02Speaker 2: quickest way to put it behind you is go out
- 18:04Speaker 2: and play the next day. Go out and play, go
- 18:06Speaker 2: out and win. And the Ashers took a good step
- 18:08Speaker 2: toward that on Wednesday, kind of distancing themselves from all
- 18:12Speaker 2: this from this hoopla.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Ft fam Designer clothes can be expensive, but we want
- 18:19Speaker 1: our clothes to look good, we want to feel good.
- 18:21Speaker 1: We want them to be affordable and crats. If you
- 18:24Speaker 1: tell me that I can wear a T shirt that
- 18:26Speaker 1: looks like it's tailored but it's not actually tailored and
- 18:28Speaker 1: it just comes that way, then sign me up for
- 18:31Speaker 1: True Classic.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Have to you gotta sign up for it because these
- 18:35Speaker 6: shirts are soft, they're thin, they're durable, and they're very versatile.
- 18:40Speaker 6: You can wear them to the gym, you can wear
- 18:42Speaker 6: them out to a nice dinner. Let's get after it
- 18:45Speaker 6: because these shirts are the real deal.
- 18:48Speaker 1: They are. Check it out. I've got one of the
- 18:49Speaker 1: performance ones. It's a nice blue fits well. I can
- 18:53Speaker 1: go to the gym, I can go out, I can
- 18:55Speaker 1: do ft in a shirt like this ft FAM. There's
- 18:59Speaker 1: a reason why True Classic has sold over twenty five
- 19:01Speaker 1: million shirts to more than five million customers, and they
- 19:04Speaker 1: are racking up over two hundred thousand and five star reviews.
- 19:07Speaker 1: See for yourself with our exclusive link at true Classic
- 19:10Speaker 1: dot com slash foal to say that's True Classic dot
- 19:13Speaker 1: com slash foul.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Tayler, do you think this is something that lingers around?
- 19:19Speaker 4: I know you're saying they're trying to distance himself from it.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Is it pretty obvious to say that Salazar won't catch
- 19:24Speaker 4: fromburn next time he pitches? And then also, is this
- 19:27Speaker 4: something that in the clubhouse and going forward with the
- 19:31Speaker 4: Astros I'm not even talking about maybe this year, but
- 19:33Speaker 4: when he's a free agent that the Astros look at
- 19:35Speaker 4: and say, ah, because this isn't listen as good of
- 19:38Speaker 4: a picture as from Breval does. Is this isn't his
- 19:40Speaker 4: first thing where guys people have said what the heck
- 19:43Speaker 4: is he doing? And he's kind of done some stuff, right,
- 19:46Speaker 4: So do you think's going forward? This is something the
- 19:48Speaker 4: Astros look at in free agency and say, ah, maybe
- 19:51Speaker 4: we'd rather have somebody else here, even though they know
- 19:53Speaker 4: fromber very well well.
- 19:56Speaker 2: The Astros probably aren't bringing from Bravell does back, but
- 19:59Speaker 2: it's not Becau because of anything you just said. It's
- 20:01Speaker 2: because they're not going to give him the sort of
- 20:03Speaker 2: contract that that he his market value says he's worth
- 20:06Speaker 2: and that he will command on the free agent market.
- 20:09Speaker 2: You know, he's a year older than Max Freed, but
- 20:11Speaker 2: has very similar career numbers, if not better in some
- 20:15Speaker 2: regards to Max Freed. So you look at eight for
- 20:18Speaker 2: two eighteen that Max Freed got. I'm not saying frommer
- 20:21Speaker 2: Valdez is going to get that exact deal, but that
- 20:24Speaker 2: will be the framework that you know, perhaps is a
- 20:26Speaker 2: starting point. And the Astros have never guaranteed a player
- 20:30Speaker 2: more than one hundred and fifty one million dollars, much
- 20:32Speaker 2: less a pitcher. Jim Crane the one thing in his
- 20:36Speaker 2: ownership tenure he has not given massive deals to starting pitchers.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Lance mccullor's got a five year, eighty five million dollar
- 20:44Speaker 2: extension before he went to free agency. Josh Hater got
- 20:47Speaker 2: a ninety five million dollar deal as a closer. Ninety
- 20:49Speaker 2: five million is the most safe ever guaranteed to a
- 20:51Speaker 2: pitcher in Jim Crane's ownership tenure. So the Ashers probably
- 20:55Speaker 2: aren't bringing Valdez back, but it's more of a money thing.
- 20:57Speaker 2: That's more of like that he is going to want
- 21:00Speaker 2: a contract that they just don't give as far as
- 21:03Speaker 2: what it's going to do for the next month month
- 21:05Speaker 2: and a half. You know, Victor Carrottini is back off
- 21:07Speaker 2: of the il, off the concussion ale So the Ashers
- 21:10Speaker 2: have three catchers on their roster right now. I don't
- 21:13Speaker 2: know who's going to catch from Er in his next start.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I'd be surprised if it was Csar Salazar for no
- 21:19Speaker 2: other reason than you know, I for no other reason
- 21:23Speaker 2: than I think Victor Carrottini and Yinor Diaz are you know,
- 21:26Speaker 2: better options to catch just from an offensive upside. This
- 21:29Speaker 2: is a team that needs to score runs. This is
- 21:31Speaker 2: a team that is looking to upgrade its offense in
- 21:33Speaker 2: any way possible. Those two guys are are just better offensively.
- 21:37Speaker 2: You have to remember the reason Ceasar salas are caught
- 21:40Speaker 2: from ber Valdez on Tuesday was because Victor Carrottini was
- 21:43Speaker 2: still on the concussion I l and they needed Yinor
- 21:46Speaker 2: Diaz to DH Because if I'm remembering the days right,
- 21:50Speaker 2: I think you're on Alvarez was off, so whatever like
- 21:53Speaker 2: Salas are caught Valdez because they were in a little
- 21:56Speaker 2: bit of a pinch just roster wise, they're not in
- 21:58Speaker 2: that anymore. So I imagine one of Keratini or Diaz
- 22:02Speaker 2: catches Valdez in his next start. And then with Fromber specifically,
- 22:07Speaker 2: and I've reiterated this on christ City Territory, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 2: they know how to handle him, like this isn't a
- 22:13Speaker 2: new guy that's come in and it's just been like this,
- 22:17Speaker 2: Like they've had Fromber around for going on seven years now,
- 22:20Speaker 2: Like they have seen him evolve. They they know how
- 22:23Speaker 2: to get the most out of him. You know, sometimes
- 22:27Speaker 2: things like this happen. They've had instances like this where
- 22:30Speaker 2: some stuff has occurred and they've been able to manage it.
- 22:33Speaker 2: They've been able to handle it. I don't think it's
- 22:35Speaker 2: going to be that as big of a deal maybe
- 22:38Speaker 2: as most think, just because they're so experienced with this,
- 22:43Speaker 2: Like they kind of know how he is, they know
- 22:45Speaker 2: what makes him tick. They they understand kind of how
- 22:49Speaker 2: to how to handle him in the clubhouse. So I
- 22:51Speaker 2: think they'll be able to be fine with it for
- 22:54Speaker 2: the next month and a half. But as far as
- 22:56Speaker 2: the future goes, like, I never thought fromber Valdez was
- 22:59Speaker 2: coming back to Houston when the season began, and nothing
- 23:02Speaker 2: that happened Tuesday night changes my thought on that and
- 23:05Speaker 2: has nothing to do with the cross up or the
- 23:08Speaker 2: failed to step off.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Chandler. I'm going to take us to the lineup. How
- 23:14Speaker 1: much better does it look with Jordan Aubres back and
- 23:17Speaker 1: looking mostly like himself? And then I saw you writing
- 23:21Speaker 1: about Estac parade, So is there a chance.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Let's start with escoc paratus. I don't think anyone knows
- 23:31Speaker 2: if there's a chance. No, he got cleared to start
- 23:33Speaker 2: baseball activities on Wednesday yesterday. If you watched him at
- 23:39Speaker 2: dik And Park while he was taking ground balls and
- 23:41Speaker 2: while he was running, he is nowhere near full speed,
- 23:45Speaker 2: not that I expected him to be full speed, but
- 23:47Speaker 2: this was very light baseball activities, like I'm talking. He
- 23:51Speaker 2: fielded five grounders that didn't really require him going side
- 23:54Speaker 2: to side. He did some running in the outfield that
- 23:58Speaker 2: he said was about fifty percent. He is not close
- 24:02Speaker 2: to coming back, so but they are going to send
- 24:03Speaker 2: him to West Palm Beach this week to continue his rehab.
- 24:07Speaker 2: He'll be down there Esach said that he's still not
- 24:10Speaker 2: sure if he's going to play this season. He's going
- 24:12Speaker 2: to try his best, but it's still very much up
- 24:14Speaker 2: in the air. I think the bigger question is, you know,
- 24:17Speaker 2: if everything goes well, and let's say he is available
- 24:20Speaker 2: for a potential playoff spot on a roster like, he's
- 24:25Speaker 2: obviously going to have to DH a little bit. He's
- 24:27Speaker 2: gonna be probably DH, primarily because I don't know by
- 24:30Speaker 2: that time if he'll be in good enough shape to
- 24:32Speaker 2: play a nine inning game defensively. I also don't know
- 24:36Speaker 2: where he would play defensively, considering you know, Carlos Carrez
- 24:39Speaker 2: on the team and now plays third base. They're rotating
- 24:42Speaker 2: Ramon Urius and Mauricio Dubon and Josel Tuve at second.
- 24:46Speaker 2: They could play Paradus at second, and you know, have
- 24:50Speaker 2: left field for either Jordan or Altuve. But if they
- 24:54Speaker 2: if he comes back in a d H role, that
- 24:56Speaker 2: would force both Alvarez and Altuve to play defense every day.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Whether the Ashers would be okay with that trade off,
- 25:03Speaker 2: You know, this is a team that misses Paradus's plate
- 25:06Speaker 2: discipline and miss how many pitches he sees like he
- 25:08Speaker 2: would be a massive addition to this lineup, so I
- 25:11Speaker 2: think they'd take the trade off. But again, this is
- 25:14Speaker 2: this is really far off, Like I think, it is
- 25:17Speaker 2: still very much up in the air of paradis you know,
- 25:19Speaker 2: plays again this season. But it is still a good
- 25:21Speaker 2: sign to see him doing baseball activities after he faced
- 25:25Speaker 2: the possibility of undergoing surgery that would have sidelined him
- 25:27Speaker 2: for six months. So that's a win in and of
- 25:30Speaker 2: itself that he's back to do at baseball activities. And
- 25:33Speaker 2: then Jordon, I mean, it's it changes the complete dynamic
- 25:37Speaker 2: of the lineup. And we said this, and we we
- 25:39Speaker 2: kind of Joe spot had reiterated this before Jordon came back.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Even if he came back at you know, less than
- 25:46Speaker 2: full Yordon, even if he came back at a little
- 25:48Speaker 2: bit less efficacy, just his presence and just the fear
- 25:53Speaker 2: he strikes in opponents is going to change how opposing
- 25:57Speaker 2: managers and opposing pitchers navigate. You know, his first series
- 26:01Speaker 2: back against the Rockies, I think he walked five times,
- 26:04Speaker 2: and the Rockies like they weren't even trying to hide it,
- 26:06Speaker 2: like these were they were pitching around him and he
- 26:09Speaker 2: hadn't played a major League game. He had missed one
- 26:11Speaker 2: hundred games, and they were pitching around him, and you
- 26:14Speaker 2: could already tell it was a different sort of presence. Now,
- 26:19Speaker 2: last night would lead me to believe that he's all
- 26:21Speaker 2: the way back. He hit five balls last night, all
- 26:24Speaker 2: one oh three point five or harder off. The bat
- 26:27Speaker 2: was spraying the ball to all fields. Josh Reddick was
- 26:31Speaker 2: was marveling earlier this morning about him, you know, going
- 26:34Speaker 2: with a Luke Weaver change up in the left field
- 26:37Speaker 2: for a game tying single to the other way. He
- 26:40Speaker 2: pulled the ball, he went up the middle. This is
- 26:43Speaker 2: I mean he is when he's on. He's a top
- 26:45Speaker 2: five hitter in baseball. And you know, adding that can
- 26:49Speaker 2: only help this lineup that you know, has had its
- 26:52Speaker 2: struggles with runners in scoring position, that has not been
- 26:54Speaker 2: able to have the run production we think it could have.
- 26:58Speaker 2: But I mean, adding Alvarez in the just changes the
- 27:00Speaker 2: calculus entirely.
- 27:02Speaker 6: He's one of the guys the only league, the only
- 27:04Speaker 6: the only chance the league has against him is if
- 27:06Speaker 6: he gets called up to the next league, which I
- 27:09Speaker 6: don't think they've created that yet, But he's one of
- 27:11Speaker 6: those guys. Last question, we haven't hit on this bullpen.
- 27:15Speaker 6: And I'm not saying this because of Bray. You actually
- 27:17Speaker 6: had a blip last night. He's ridiculous. Does this bullpen
- 27:22Speaker 6: have enough length? Does it have enough just inning to
- 27:26Speaker 6: inning skill to succeed in the playoffs.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I mean, I think it could. And I also think
- 27:32Speaker 2: you're gonna see starters go into the bullpen in the playoffs,
- 27:35Speaker 2: just like we see, you know, every year. So I
- 27:37Speaker 2: think that the complexion of this bullpen could look a
- 27:39Speaker 2: lot different in the playoffs. One thing we didn't hit
- 27:43Speaker 2: on is that Spencer Arraghetti went on the il yesterday
- 27:46Speaker 2: with elbow inflammation. That would have been maybe my pick
- 27:49Speaker 2: as the guy that would have translated best to the
- 27:52Speaker 2: bullpen in a playoff scenario. I'm not sure they want
- 27:55Speaker 2: to risk that. With Javier and Garcia, two guys that
- 27:58Speaker 2: have just come off long arm surgery recoveries, I'm not
- 28:02Speaker 2: sure they want to risk putting them in the bullpen.
- 28:04Speaker 2: That quick Arraghetti only you know, broke his thumb, That's
- 28:07Speaker 2: why he missed so much time. So to me, he
- 28:10Speaker 2: profiled as the guy that would have been the obvious
- 28:12Speaker 2: kind of swingman, guy that could give you some length,
- 28:15Speaker 2: a guy that could the stuff could play up out
- 28:17Speaker 2: of the bullpen. Without him, it's gonna be a little
- 28:20Speaker 2: bit more difficult, but you know, I think they've got
- 28:22Speaker 2: some good pieces. You know, Brian King is a guy
- 28:25Speaker 2: that as a left handed hitter, as a left handed pitcher,
- 28:27Speaker 2: excuse me, has been dominant against right handed batters, so
- 28:30Speaker 2: they can use him kind of regardless of platoon splits.
- 28:33Speaker 2: They've got in yelled dell As Santos, who's been very
- 28:35Speaker 2: good for them since they got him from the Braves.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Caleb Ort has pitched some leverage innings and succeeded. Pitched
- 28:41Speaker 2: very well last night, and then they have all the
- 28:43Speaker 2: confidence in the world. And Brian Abrave. I know the
- 28:45Speaker 2: blip last night wasn't great. The Homer to Bellinger, but
- 28:49Speaker 2: he is by most statistical measures, he's been as good,
- 28:52Speaker 2: if not better, in some categories than Josh Hater this year.
- 28:55Speaker 2: So when they give him the ball in the ninth inning,
- 28:57Speaker 2: they're not worried. I think it's just the bridge to
- 29:00Speaker 2: get to a bray. You I think that's going to
- 29:02Speaker 2: be a little bit interesting, and I think it's going
- 29:04Speaker 2: to test Joe Aspata's kind of managerial kind of how
- 29:07Speaker 2: he's going to match, guys up, how quickly he goes
- 29:09Speaker 2: to his bullpen, or quite frankly, how long he sticks
- 29:13Speaker 2: with his starters, because maybe his starters can give him.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Maybe he's got a little more confidence in the upside
- 29:18Speaker 2: of the starters than he would go into the bullpen
- 29:20Speaker 2: and maybe the fourth or the fifth inning.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Chandler great insight. As always. Much more of this on
- 29:26Speaker 1: crush City Territory, which has a merch shop now too.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Go check it out. Crush City Territory part of the
- 29:32Speaker 1: Ft Network Pods YouTube channel. Chandler, Tyler Stafford, and Josh
- 29:37Speaker 1: Reddick part of the mix. Thanks Chandler, appreciate your thanks, guys,
