- 3:27not want me to mow this lawn. Every time I plan to mow it,
- 3:30it rains. Oh no, it gets a long. It's you know,
- 3:34when it passes the point where you're like, huh, not going to
- 3:37be able to use the bagger this week? Yeah, we're we're way past
- 3:42that. We are way past that. Yeah, and you're standing a little
- 3:45bit of a little crinkly there. I'm sounding crinkly. Yeah, now you
- 3:51know how I feel? That's right? Sound at all creakly? That's right?
- 3:54Is that any better? No? Oh lord, try try and plug
- 3:59in your your thing and plugging it back in like a like a any S
- 4:03cartridge. Yeah, oh no, okay, if you're if you're listening to
- 4:15the show, do not watch it? Yea or due do? Yeah?
- 4:20Any any better? Welcome to Trek Cast after Dark everyone, I don't know.
- 4:27This is the new this is the new set that you sent me a
- 4:29few months ago. I can trust this now too. You know something I
- 4:33noticed when we recorded Daniel the the the after After track, the Quick Quick
- 4:42Reaction. I noticed that when I didn't hear any of the pops on the
- 4:46on the podcast. Yeah, from from my headset. So I'm wondering if
- 4:50the listeners can even hear that. I don't know. I don't know if
- 4:55there's anyone listening live. How do I sound? Yeah? Let us know.
- 4:59I wonder if it's an issue with the stream yard could be. I
- 5:02wonder if yeah, could t Bear or Chasbiz or yeah, whoever's in the
- 5:09chat. Let us whoever's in the chat, let us know. Does Dan
- 5:12sound as horrible ass as he sounds to us? We can hear it?
- 5:16Awesome, we can hear it. Oh, my wife says, we can.
- 5:20Okay, yeah, okay, all right, well why he's doing that?
- 5:32I want to show everybody my T shirt. It's a T shirt of
- 5:34the week. All right, So this is a T shirt that I got
- 5:40from my wife. It's right, yeah, it's it's Riker and Picard and
- 5:46Admiral Akbar and uh, somebody's shouting. There are four aces. And this
- 5:55is the shirt that I get the most comments on whenever I go to a
- 5:58comic con or a whatever. Everybody always stops and wants to look at the
- 6:02T shirt. It's a good shirt. I like it, Yeah, everybody,
- 6:08it's it's it's a little out there. It's got Star Wars and Star
- 6:11Trek and you got Darth Vader saying no, and the cards saying there are
- 6:16four aces and Admir Akbar saying it's a trap. It's somebody somebody just posted
- 6:25doing it live? Who posted that? Chas biz? Is that? Is
- 6:29that a bill? O'Reilly reference? I'm just curious. I yeah, Hey,
- 6:33Dan, I think it's your connection. I don't think it's the the
- 6:36headset because it's still trankly alright, I'll see you next week. Okay,
- 6:42good, Well, we'll interview Coats. Tell then. I wonder if it
- 6:48is a stream your thing. I'll have to look it up after the show,
- 6:51okay, okay, or else little Torpedo my time. And yeah.
- 6:56Otherwise this is a good pod, you know. Yeah, that's right.
- 6:59This is yeah, welcome to Technical cast everyone. That's right. Yeah,
- 7:03I'll tell you what. Why don't we get into Star Trek News while we're
- 7:06waiting for Dan? That sounds great, okay, Star Trek News. All
- 7:13right, So our first new story comes to us from the New York Times.
- 7:16Prisingly, and we're learning a little bit more about the potential breakup of
- 7:21Paramount. This is, of course as their way. What yeah, if
- 7:28Sony and Apollo are able to purchase Paramount, the plan is according to The
- 7:34New York Times, and apparently they spoke to multiple insiders that Sony's and Apollo's
- 7:42plan is to completely break Paramounts. They will apparently sell off CBS MTV.
- 7:50The Paramount Plus streaming service would also be sold off. The plan is potentially
- 7:56to incorporate a bunch of Paramounts franchises Mission Impossible in Ninja Turtles and Star Trek
- 8:03into uh Sony. So those would all be under the Sony banner. That
- 8:09a crossover. Yeah, I can't wait for the Ninja Turtles and Star Trek
- 8:13to be to be one. So so that is the potential. Yeah,
- 8:20so yeah, so they basically want to just take it apart. Now what's
- 8:24cool is you know, I've been able to to interview a lot of people
- 8:28like you were saying, Scott, and I was able to get on tape
- 8:33a response from a Paramount spokesperson about the potential breakup of Paramount. So let's
- 8:39let's play that right now, that tad. So there you go. Apparently
- 8:58they are not disassemble, No disassemble, nobody under thirty knew what the hell
- 9:07that was, but according to the numbers, that's our target demos. That
- 9:16was uh, that was number five or Johnny five from a short circuit.
- 9:20It's right alive. Yep. Oh boy. So what do you guys think
- 9:26about the potential breakup of Paramount and selling it for parts. I don't care
- 9:33anymore. Yeah, uh yeah, it doesn't matter. Yeah, I don't
- 9:37care anymore. We talked about this like, well, no, we didn't
- 9:41talk about this last week. We talked about this last week and the week
- 9:43before and the week before and the week before. And the reason why we
- 9:45talked about it is because it's just been in limbo for so long. Paramount
- 9:50is a dying company and we're just waiting for this dying company that happens on
- 9:56the rights to our favorite franchise figure out what the hell to do with each
- 9:58other, to do with itself. And I apologize for all the cursing,
- 10:03but I'm angry at Paramount for you know, nobody seems to care about some
- 10:09of these franchises that are owned by these networks and has nobody? Yeah,
- 10:18think of poor Tom Cruise, He's got dues to pay. Okay, Scientology
- 10:22isn't cheap. Sorry, I just got all of his cancel. I just
- 10:28I just you know, hold on, there's a knock at the door.
- 10:33Somebody with a I have to read this prepared statement that I just got.
- 10:39Dear Trek cast listeners, I apologize for saying the disparaged remarks. Yeah,
- 10:45who cares? All right, our next news story. So they need to
- 10:48name they need to name drop. They need to name drop like some Starfleet
- 10:54admiral Admiral Pete Mitchell the seventh and then that would make top gun, uh
- 11:03Star Trek cannon like tradition and there you go, right, that was the
- 11:11same Pep Pete Mitchell, wasn't that Yeah, or something like that. That's
- 11:15a great have like the USS Maverick. Now I want that now, Now
- 11:22I want that it's got like flames on the side of it. Red squad
- 11:28to be the top gun. Yeah, or like if they do like a
- 11:33Star Trek Academy series, they can go they can like walk down the halls
- 11:39of like oh and this is where our you know, flight academy is and
- 11:41we can see like a top gun maybe a picture of you know, Val
- 11:46Kilmer or whatever. They're like they're like Neil Armstrong, Pete Mitchell. Yeah,
- 11:56yeah, that's awesome. All right. So our next news story comes
- 12:01to us from trekmovie dot com and surprise, surprise, for the first time,
- 12:09Star Trek Discovery has broken into the top ten streaming services or streaming shows.
- 12:13Now, the thing about this is this is for the week of April
- 12:18eighth through the fourteenth. We just are now getting the numbers. So if
- 12:24you look back at a calendar, this would have been just a few days
- 12:26after Discovery premiered for season five. Yeah, except I've never even heard of
- 12:33the nine shows above it Fallout I heard of. That's good. Yeah,
- 12:37all right, Showgun is A is a pretty big show right now, Ripley,
- 12:43Is that is that an alien prequel? I have no idea. Man,
- 12:46I don't know most of these three Body my Nose is sci fi thing.
- 12:52Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's like, oh, it's number
- 12:54it's number ten in the top ten list of shows you've never heard of,
- 12:56right right? Yeah? Uh huh yeah, So who knows if it'll be
- 13:03in there next week that that'll kind of be the uh the real telling thing.
- 13:09I could see it being, you know, the first week that it
- 13:11was out. Oh, Jasmin says, it's the talented mister Ripley. That's
- 13:16what Ripley is like a remake of that. I'm aware that that's a thing.
- 13:20I don't know what it is. Yeah, I've never never seen that.
- 13:26Is it cake? Beat it Out? Is it? That's a show?
- 13:31That's a show? That's a show? Is it gig? I thought
- 13:35that was Is it cake? I thought was a series of tiktoks? That's
- 13:39what I thought. That is. No, it's a show. It's a
- 13:41picture of an old telephone and you're like, it's a tone and then they
- 13:45cut it and it's cake. They're doing a horrible paramounts doing a horrible job
- 13:48of advertising these shows. Nobody's a lot of people I've talked to you,
- 13:52they're like a perfect example. I'd like to talk about that late later.
- 13:56Uh. Guess who hadn't heard that there was new star trek out? Who's
- 14:01that? William Sadler? Oh that's right. Yeah, we'll get into that
- 14:09after the news. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I didn't get to watch
- 14:13that yet, but I'm looking forwards to it. Real quick tidbit from a
- 14:16collider. If you guys have seen the or have not yet seen the New
- 14:22Doctor Who. It just premiered. You can watch the episodes on Disney Plus.
- 14:26But apparently there is a reference to Star Trek in one of the episodes,
- 14:31to the so much to the point that the Doctor mentions that they can
- 14:35go visit Star Trek if they want to. So Star Trek is now real
- 14:39in the Doctor Who universe. I guess I'm a Doctor Who fan. Now
- 14:43you have to Yeah, they can go visit Star Trek, that's what he
- 14:48says. Like, but he calls it Star Trek. Yeah, it's okay.
- 14:52Well then that that doesn't imply that it's the same universe. I mean,
- 14:58if you can visit him. I don't know what show it was.
- 15:01I but he's naming the show. So he's not saying we can go visit
- 15:05the twenty fourth century. He's saying we can go visit this sci fi franchise,
- 15:11which that says to me, Star Trek is a show in that universe
- 15:15that yes, yes, But I just oh, it was an article that
- 15:18I read. I don't remember where, but they were talking about the idea
- 15:22that you know, the multiverse, right, and the different quantum universes,
- 15:26and if there's so many of them that maybe there's a universe. In fact,
- 15:28there's almost a certainty there's a universe out there. If there's infinite universes,
- 15:33that the things that we know as TV shows and movies and franchises and
- 15:39comic books almost has to exist on another universe. So, because of the
- 15:46laws of probability, because there's infinite if there is a multiverse, there's an
- 15:50infinite number of them, there has to be a universe out there where there
- 15:56is a federation, there is an enterprise, there is a cut Scott,
- 15:58how much would you smoking? Exactly? So? Doctor who just could be
- 16:07they could just be aware of this entire multiverse? That's right, man.
- 16:11So what the multiverse says is and what the theory of multiple timelines says is
- 16:18that anything that can happen will happen or has happened, right, Okay,
- 16:23But it hinges on the word can m hm Okay, Can something that I
- 16:30think of as a piece of fiction exists in a real place somewhere else.
- 16:36No, what you're allowing that limitation of can? That doesn't break the statement
- 16:41anything that can happen will happen. Perhaps there's a universe outre see you're you're
- 16:45basing that on choices that we make, and and that's the only difference between
- 16:52one universe and another. So franchises could be real in some sort of multiverse.
- 16:56Does that mean there's somewhere there's a Paddington universe. Oh, it's exciting.
- 17:03But on the flip side of that coin, there's also a universe where
- 17:06Ted exists. So I'm gonna I'm gonna break this for you right now.
- 17:10Okay, good by that logic. By that logic, there is a universe
- 17:15where this podcast has more subscribers than Joe Rogan, and there is it doesn't
- 17:19work falls apart now streaming live from my mother's pet house in New York.
- 17:33Some other quick tidbits that they came across the really wonderful story, but I
- 17:37just thought i'd mention it. Uh. For next week's X Men ninety seven
- 17:41finale, the showrunner Bo Demilo has said, for extra credit homework, watch
- 17:48the TNG episode Cause and Effect. Apparently that is going to have some sort
- 17:52of connective tissue to the next X Men show. So that's the that's the
- 17:56Fraser one, right, Yes, that is there. Yeah, So,
- 18:00and Scott, if you could hold up your Tumblr again for a minute when
- 18:04it was half in frame and I couldn't see that it was m I thought
- 18:07you had a Charlie Brown humble. Yeah, I'm like, man, it's
- 18:15our franchise. This guy doesn't like That's right. I dig the Peanuts.
- 18:19So yeah, that's and then the other news story is, uh, recently,
- 18:25the Star Trek franchise won a Peabody Award for shedding a light on stories
- 18:33that matter. So that's kind of neat that. It's like a Lifetime Achievement
- 18:37Award basically for Star Trek. So that's kind of cool. Okay, oh,
- 18:42you were asking the real questions. Is there a Stargate a Stargate universe
- 18:45for Daniel is part of SG one? No, No, that would be
- 18:51called there isn't even the universe where we watched that show. That's right,
- 18:55that's right. I could see a universe where Discovery is real and Dan is
- 19:00the first officer. What is God? What is that line from Doctor Sir
- 19:04Injuries, like I love you in every universe? It's like met you in
- 19:07every un Yeah exactly? Oh boy? Yeah, so oh a waitning game
- 19:18unrelated, But I'm very interested to hear Scott's take on the new Superman suit.
- 19:22Okay, yeah, well my take, and I don't. Dan is
- 19:26a huge Superman fan too, so much so that he actually has a tattoo
- 19:30of the Superman emblem on him, and so yeah, we're both big,
- 19:34big Superman. So I'm interested in Dan's take too. So they're in the
- 19:41shadow, but you can make out that he's got the red trunks. I
- 19:45am. I am happy for that. I know it's old fashioned, but
- 19:47I don't care. Superman is old fashioned. That's fine, wing too,
- 19:49and I'm glad those are there. I think the collar is a little too
- 19:55high. I don't like the the high collar little New fifty two for young
- 20:00uniform style high collar New fifty two. I could do without that. I
- 20:07like the I like the low cut with the with the the cape tucked in.
- 20:12But overall it doesn't look bad. Not crazy about the Superman emblem,
- 20:22the ass on his chest. I would have liked something a little more traditional.
- 20:26Yeah, it's a little kingdom come. Yeah, but you know what,
- 20:32I'll give it a fair shake. I give everything a fair shake,
- 20:34and I and I check it out. I mean, I went to see
- 20:38I hated Man of Steel. Yeah, I went. I went to see
- 20:42it opening night. M me too. I gave it a chance. When
- 20:47Batman Versus Superman came out, I said, all right, maybe they you
- 20:51know, maybe they fixed some stuff. It was horrible. When Justice League
- 20:55came out, I was like, all right, you know, third time
- 21:00a charm, that's right? Yeah, no good. When they released it
- 21:03again as a five hour extravaganza, I subscribed to HBO Max so did I
- 21:11just and they got me because I kept that turd service for like two years
- 21:15after that, just because it was too lazy to cancel it. Yeah,
- 21:22yeah, it was no good. I can cut you know, the Snyder
- 21:26Verse. It's gone by. Yeah, I'm not going to miss. The
- 21:32problem was saying goodbye to the Snyder Verse. Is it's like any like terrible
- 21:36overall story. There was some great moments in that. Gal Gadot as Wonder
- 21:41Woman is I think fantastic. There were a few decent moments in Man of
- 21:45Steel and a couple of decent moments in Justice League, just like you know,
- 21:51uh, they went the just like in Superman Returns. You know,
- 21:55Superman Returns as an overall movie was a little underwhelming when you think about it.
- 21:59He did throw a single punch in that movie, where in the Snyder
- 22:03verse. That's all he does is punch. I mean, he's a that's
- 22:07it. But if you look at Superman Returns, it's a much more nuanced
- 22:11movie and he plays a much better Clark Kent. It's the same issue that
- 22:15Star Trek has. It's the same issue that Star Wars has. Every time
- 22:18they try to deviate from the source material, the fans don't like it.
- 22:22Sure, there are some people who do, but overall, the majority of
- 22:26people do not like the new interpretations. So then they have to reboot,
- 22:30go back to the original. But people wanted it originally. So with Star
- 22:34Trek you're getting Star Wars, you're getting stuff like the Mandalorian that's more in
- 22:38line with what we originally enjoyed. And now that's more popular and people are
- 22:44starting to like it, and that seems to be where they're going to go
- 22:45now. Right with with DC, you're getting that with the James Gunn universe,
- 22:52Right, that's what it appears it's going to do. And now with
- 22:56Star Trek even that, the most popular stuff that's been around recently has been
- 23:00the reboot of the old stuff. You know, Percards season three and probably
- 23:04Strange in the Worlds. Yeah, it's more in line. So same idea.
- 23:08It's just people want the shows they want. Yeah. So so I'm
- 23:15looking forward to the James Gunn version of Superman. I like. I like
- 23:19a lot of the castings so far. So we'll see, you know,
- 23:26I'll lap anything up that's got the Man of Steel in it. I'll you
- 23:30know, I even watched super Pets because Superman's did it for like five minutes.
- 23:34Yeah. Well, should we get to our main topic? Yeah?
- 23:41Can we talk? Can we talk a little bit about your interview? Oh?
- 23:45Yeah, yeah, you had two interviews. I had two interviews this
- 23:48week. Yeah, yep, and I listened to both of them. Well
- 23:52done. Yeah, what was he talking? Oh? I thought you said
- 23:59you were losing us, and I was like, we can hear you.
- 24:02Yeah, I don't know. You guys were all frozen and garbly there from
- 24:04a minute. I think we came out of it. Okay, okay,
- 24:07okay, all right, all right. Yeah, so I just uh,
- 24:11the one that's most fresh in my mind. I just listened to it today
- 24:14was the one with William Sadler. Yeah, and that was an amazing interview.
- 24:19That was. Uh. The one thing I'd like to mention about that
- 24:22is there was a very vulnerable emotional part of it for you where you mentioned
- 24:30your mom passing and you were relating that to a part of the movie.
- 24:34He just did and I just thought that was that that that really tugged at
- 24:38my heart string. So I just thought it was a well done interview,
- 24:42and I just thank you for that, and yeah, yeah, thanks,
- 24:45really good. Yeah, that was a fun interview to do. I mean,
- 24:51they're they're very easy to work with. He was very personable, very
- 24:56I just could keep talking. It was great. Yeah, you guys,
- 24:59he say, pretty comfortable doing it. You guys seem pretty comfortable talk to
- 25:02each other. And the part that I kind of alluded to earlier was you're
- 25:07like, you're talking about a co star of his in a New Star Trek
- 25:11and he's like, oh, they're making New Star Trek. I know,
- 25:15he's like completely unaware of it. No, I get it. He's you
- 25:18know, he's Hollywood and probably doesn't. You know, Hollywood, you're either
- 25:22really up on what's new, or you you know, you haven't been in
- 25:26anything big in a while, or you don't care about what's around you,
- 25:30you know, right, And we did ask him if he's going to be
- 25:34in the section thirty one movie that's in the interview. He does talk quite
- 25:37a bit about it. He also talks about being basically the foundation of Section
- 25:41thirty one, which is kind of cool. So if you haven't heard it,
- 25:45I definitely recommend all of our listeners checking that out on the podcast feed
- 25:49or on YouTube. And then the other the interview did Adele Shepherd. Yeah,
- 25:53yeah, yep, she was in Star Trek Picards season two. Correct,
- 25:59she was the Helmes of officer. She was in the first episode.
- 26:02In the last episode, Helm's Officer of the Tight correct. Yeah, okay,
- 26:07Yeah, that was a great interview. She she seemed very cool and
- 26:10yeah, she's really She's going to be at the convention that Dan and I
- 26:12are going to that Trek Long Island, so we'll get to meet her in
- 26:17person. She's got a background in ballet and still does that to this day,
- 26:22but also is acting. She was very excited to talk about that she's
- 26:26going to be in a Amazon Prime show, but she doesn't know one that's
- 26:29going to be released and really can't mention anything else other than it's on Amazon
- 26:34right on. Yeah, but yeah, both interviews were a lot of fun
- 26:38to do. Both were very cool people so die J back when section thirty
- 26:44one in school? Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, so yeah,
- 26:51awesome job that was. That was really fun to watch. Yeah,
- 26:55So anything else you wanted to bring up or so I heard her rumor?
- 27:00Yeah, yeah, And I don't know. I don't know. I didn't
- 27:07I didn't research it all. I don't know. I don't know what to
- 27:08make of it yet. But I saw it in a couple different places that
- 27:11Disney Plus is planning a Captain America limited series with Chris Evans, basically showing
- 27:22him returning the Infinity Stones to the timeline. I'm wondering if you guys,
- 27:27if you've heard about it, if from two different sources, yeah, if
- 27:32there's anything to back it up. And I heard it from two different sources,
- 27:36which doesn't mean an but and I bring it up because what you were
- 27:41talking about a minute ago, where these franchises they try to go a different
- 27:45route sometimes and there's fan backlash and people don't like it, and what do
- 27:51they end up doing. They end up returning to the source material at some
- 27:55point. And I have to point out that in America four, which Chris
- 28:00Evans is not in, it stars Anthony Mackie as Captain Falcon America. That
- 28:08thing is in its like third round of reshoots, yeah, something like that.
- 28:15And it's and it's been pushed back multiple times to the point where it's
- 28:22affecting the marketing and the merchandising because these things, these movies are planned on
- 28:26a timeline. You know, my daughter spent the spent the day with her
- 28:33grandfather the other day and she came home with a happy meal, hm,
- 28:36and the happy meal was a Captain America Brave New World Happy Meal. And
- 28:42I'm like, when is like when is this movie coming out? And I
- 28:47looked it up and it's not coming out until next summer, right or or
- 28:52or it was supposed to be this summer, and now it's coming out in
- 28:55February. But that's like the third time it's been pushed back. And I'm
- 28:57thinking about it. And it got to the point where McDonald's had a warehouse
- 29:02full of this crop and they're like, we're not holding on to this an
- 29:06we don't care when the movies come out. Yeah, the toys and the
- 29:08happy meal boxes are are are going yep. So yeah, I don't know.
- 29:15I have a suggestion for the people who are if they make a happy
- 29:22people suggestion. I have a suggestion for the people that make that Captain America,
- 29:29not the movie, the one with Chris Evans. People suggested it six
- 29:33episodes. That that makes sense. I get it. I'm saying make it
- 29:37seven episodes and make it. This is gonna sound crazy, but make each
- 29:44episode actually about returning each stone. Don't turn it into some sort of deconstructed
- 29:51crazy storyline that ties into fifteen different things. Just go stone by stone.
- 29:56Each one is like an episode of them leap Okay, episode six you return
- 30:03the final Stone, and then episode seven is about his decision about whether or
- 30:11not to go back or to go seek out Haley Atwell. And so the
- 30:18Stone show that has not been confirmed anywhere. It's been a long rumor for
- 30:22years and years that they should do a show about that. That's what they
- 30:26do. I'm not saying the skipping rocks the show. But but we don't
- 30:33know, right, we don't know. It could be an idea, right.
- 30:37A lot of times these big companies will leak out stories, see what
- 30:41sticks, and then all of a sudden, that's the show, right,
- 30:45So we don't know the thing about with the Captain of America movie, Yeah,
- 30:51I think there could be some issues with it, but also we have
- 30:53to remember they are completely rechanging everything they're doing in the wake of of Jonathan
- 31:00Majors and King. Right, yeah, yeah, so we don't know what
- 31:04the original script, how much it was tied to King, because there were
- 31:07some rumors of that as well, so if they got to go back and
- 31:11change everything. There have also been reports of bad uh screenings for the captin
- 31:18American movie, so there could be changes for that. So that could explain
- 31:23a lot of these Okay, third you know, third round of reshoots to
- 31:27make it all work. So what did what did they decide with the Jonathan
- 31:32Majors thing? Are they recasting King or are they restructuring the story so he's
- 31:37not a major character. Well, i've heard no, they have not said
- 31:42that they're gonna recast him. They have not said that they're gonna go think,
- 31:47you know, put things in line. What they're saying is go watch
- 31:49Deadpool three and you'll see where of where we're gonna go. So that's what
- 31:55they're saying. Okay, yeah, all right, they kind of wrote them
- 32:00out in Loki season two, like they really did, just kind of leave
- 32:05them there and you don't really need to go with them. I think they
- 32:08gave themselves an out. So yeah, yeah, because at that point that
- 32:14the troubles were just starting to happen, so they they wrote them out.
- 32:20Mouse knows what to do, So the mouse knows what to do. I
- 32:24don't know, maybe you haven't watched the Star Wars movie lately. That's right,
- 32:28that's right. I wouldn't say the mouse knows what to do. Hey,
- 32:31the mouse doesn't know about space, but the mouse knows about Earth.
- 32:34Yeah, all right, all right, Well we're thirty four minutes and we
- 32:38should probably talk about Yeah, let's get to the main topic. Fun will
- 32:43now come out, all right. Our main topic is a review of Discovery
- 32:52season five, episodes seven. Iar Guy, Mall and Locke only are custody
- 33:00the Federation into a diplomatic and ethical firestorm. When the book looks at ways
- 33:09to help Tilly, Adira and Reno as they worked the skiper the latest clue
- 33:15who's singing was me? Must be someone at the Bowder's Uh hell yeah,
- 33:25he's muting his mic signed to someone off camera. Yeah, who's singing?
- 33:31That was my son, To be fair to him, he just got done
- 33:36finishing his first musical at school. So I did a little volunteer work with
- 33:40it. Yesterday they did a musical production of Cinderella. Okay, so they
- 33:46did a fantastic job, by the way, like the fairy Tale or like
- 33:51the eighties hairband. Yeah, like like the fairy Tale. What are we
- 34:01talking about? Sort of star trek things? Yeah, I don't even were
- 34:06you even done with your tagline? No? What? Oh? That I
- 34:09already read it. Yeah, I'm done. Okay. Yeah. So yeah,
- 34:15this episode, this episode, the Greens show up. They're they're pretty
- 34:20pissed and that should be the title of this show. And they're pretty shut
- 34:28up. Yeah, that they are holding their lunchbox of doom or something.
- 34:35I don't know. No, that's the Captain America happy meal, right,
- 34:38that is what it is. Okay, Like he's always making no sense.
- 34:43Movies not out yet. We will destroy you. We will destroy So here's
- 34:51the thing. I kind of like the Breen in this episode. Yeah,
- 35:00I kind of liked them, I know, I know, I kind of
- 35:01cringed that the whole were liquid people thing that they that they announced a few
- 35:07weeks ago. That's that's growing on me. It kind of makes sense with
- 35:13their uh if you look back at Deep Space nine. When it was whenever
- 35:16it was the Founders, the Breen and the Cardassians in the room together,
- 35:22it was it was always the Breen and the and the Founders, and you
- 35:29know, the Cardassians would open their mouth and they'd be shushed and pushed to
- 35:31the side. Yeah, so the whole, you know, kindred spirits.
- 35:37Hey, we're both we're both Plato people, as Shaw calls them. I
- 35:42you know, I kinda I'm kind of enjoying that. I think a great
- 35:47link, Like great link. Yeah, I think there's a link between the
- 35:52Brain and the Founders. I'm not quite sure why they put themselves in these
- 35:59suits. I'm not quite sure the whole. They're definitely not all furry.
- 36:06I can become a solid, but it's an abomination. I don't quite understand
- 36:09all that. But the super aggressive, super powerful, we don't care what
- 36:15the Federation says, Breen and the power struggle. I'm kind of enjoying that.
- 36:22But at the same time, it got me thinking the Dominion War is
- 36:29what like four hundred years ago at this point, right like seven hundred years
- 36:35ago. Okay. It kind of got me thinking, how much cooler would
- 36:40this storyline be if it took place in the twenty fifth century instead of here,
- 36:49including even though I wasn't crazy about the whole progenitor story arc, but
- 36:55even if you transplanted that to the twenty fifth century tree where because the Dominion
- 37:00War would mean something where Picard is still around. People who fought in the
- 37:06Dominion War are still around at this point in history. They keep referring to
- 37:09the Dominion War. But at this point in history, you know, that's
- 37:15like us talking about stuff that happened in the Middle Ages, like like it
- 37:19like it affects us personally, right, right, we don't have any emotions
- 37:23about, you know, any of that stuff. The Crusades, even the
- 37:28Revolutionary War, we didn't, you know. Yeah, so you understand what
- 37:34it got. But something Dad said was interesting, Liquid people. Is that
- 37:38how they're doing the brain now? Yes? Liquid people? Happy hour,
- 37:45jumpy be happy hour. Yeah. So this lady's pissed off because, uh,
- 37:55what's his name? Is dead right lot. I still don't feel any
- 38:01connection between the two of them. I still don't get it, get it,
- 38:06there's no chemistry, Yeah, nope. I mean when they kissed each
- 38:12other, it was like watching Kira kiss Odo. Yeah, at least I
- 38:16mean there, at least with kiaren Odo, there was a personality connection.
- 38:22There was a little bit of chemistry personality wise, but well, at that
- 38:24point, we had five years to care about both of those people, right
- 38:29or three years whatever it was. I don't remember when it when it started,
- 38:32But there was no physical chemistry between any of these characters. Yeah,
- 38:37I mean, I suffer for the people. And they had both actors on
- 38:39The wil Wheaton Show, and personally it seemed like they really enjoyed each other's
- 38:45company and they were friendly and all that. That just doesn't translate to the
- 38:47show as the issue. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I feel like this
- 38:57episode was kind of a placeholder in some respects. Yeah, a little bit
- 39:00of filler. Did we say that about the episode last week? Yeah?
- 39:05Yes, yes. And when you only have ten episodes in a season,
- 39:07that's a little bit weird. What do we got left? We got like
- 39:10three three? Yeah, hopefully we get more jet Reno all together. So
- 39:21jet Reno, who's a who's a uh uh what she's like a book expert
- 39:27or something? Yeah, yeah, she's an ancient text Yeah, she's an
- 39:30ancient text expert. Yeah, except like that she's from eight hundred years ago,
- 39:37so all of her expertise is incredibly dated. And then not only they're
- 39:42asking her about twenty fifth century stuff. She doesn't know any more than you
- 39:45do, right, And then she's like, yeah, not really, I'm
- 39:49not really an expert and that was eight hundred years ago. So yeah,
- 39:51yeah, but watch me help anyway. Yeah, she said, I've added
- 39:54my resume, but watched me help anyways. Because they said that she was
- 39:59a smuggler, So now she's on solo. Yeah, she's a little bit
- 40:04of whatever they need anyone. For anyone who has kids and watches Pepa Pig,
- 40:07she's missus Rabbit. Oh, they'll get that reference in missus Rabbit does
- 40:14everything every time. They're like, oh, we're going to the store,
- 40:15missus Rabbit works there. We're going to the post office, she delivers the
- 40:19mail. We're gonna file. Fly a plane. She's a pilot. Yeah,
- 40:22okay, so that's jet reno. Yeah fair enough. Oh come on,
- 40:31if you can talk about Paddington, I can talk about Peppa Pig.
- 40:34No no, no, no, no, just like, is he done
- 40:37talking about Peppa Pig yet? Miss Rabbit's Rabbit? Three more episodes? Sound
- 40:49like you're in prison counting down the days. Yeah, unfortunately I have not
- 40:54had good behaviors, so I have to serve all of that's right, Yeah,
- 41:00what is this abomination? T Bear Pig is better than Paddington. I've
- 41:06never seen Pepa Pig, so no, I I still have to see Paddington
- 41:10too. No you don't, No one does. Is it good? It's
- 41:19Paddington won it was? It's it's what I call it's my definition of a
- 41:22perfect movie. It's it's it's it's the storyline flows perfectly that there's a beginning,
- 41:30middle, and end. It's it's it's a perfect movie. So tell
- 41:37me more about Peppa Pig? Is that like? Is that animated? It's
- 41:42an animated it's a British tyler. Do you know what Peppa Pig is?
- 41:45You do? He's like yeah, like, which which is funny because a
- 41:50lot of American kids watch it, so you have a lot of American toddlers
- 41:53now developing British accents, which is kind of kind of funny. Okay,
- 41:59so it's a pritty Okay, British said has record for the shortest recap.
- 42:02Y no, no, no, we're still we're still talking. So let's
- 42:07do our let's let's do our our one nice thing because I actually have I
- 42:12actually have one. No when I when I I can't remember her name,
- 42:21but when the President of Navarre is like, yeah, I speak Breen,
- 42:25sucker. Yeah that was a good uh yeah, I mean it was kind
- 42:32of a trope with that. She's like, I think blah blah blah blah
- 42:43is the more precise translation. That was a good Yeah, yeah it is.
- 42:47It is a bit of a trope, but Breen is so different than
- 42:53everything we've heard that it's still kind of worked in that situation. Yeah,
- 43:01no, that was that was a great bull But that was a great bullet.
- 43:07See. I just like Superman. It's it's it's just like Man of
- 43:08Steel, Start Star Trek, Discovery. It's it's a lot of it's crap,
- 43:14but there are some great moments, you know. That's why I can
- 43:19still watch Discovery. I can still watch Bad of Steel. M schnyder cut.
- 43:27I will say, for my for my good moment, I really like
- 43:30the idea of feuding houses within the Breen Empire and they're all vine for control.
- 43:36I think that's really interesting and I think you could do way more cool
- 43:38stuff with that. I'm sure. Yeah, if you had two or three
- 43:42more seasons that would be great to flesh that out. And yeah, you
- 43:45know, have like a Kason thing going on, or or like a Romulin
- 43:50Greemus thing going on. Yeah, love, I would love it if the
- 43:54brain was sort of like the dominion of you know, discover. But they
- 44:01they never were able to have anything kind of coalesce and become like a centralized
- 44:07thing, you know, right, And you could you could argue that that
- 44:09because they're always internally fighting. So yeah that yeah, So what else where
- 44:20where are we at in this episode? Like? What what where we got
- 44:23the last clue? No, we didn't get the last clue. We're looking
- 44:27for the last clue. They're going to that library for the last clue.
- 44:30That's right, the floating the floating space library. So they've got floating space
- 44:36seed places. They've got floating library places. Okay, I'm just gonna I'm
- 44:43gonna call it the I'm gonna call it Wikipedia Station, Wikipedia Station. We're
- 44:50gonna go to Wikipedia Station for sure. Yeah, hell, Wikipedia Station.
- 44:55So they got the Wikipedia Station and the Farm and Fleet Station. Okay,
- 45:02nobody navigates the Muddy Bottle like Captain Peppin. Yep, exactly there's mud in
- 45:08that nebula. There's mud in that nebula. I don't know what any of
- 45:13that means. I don't either. It's funny though, you know, there
- 45:20are no uh on on IMDb. There are no like goofs or or interesting
- 45:28facts or anything. And I noticed that when the episodes are good and a
- 45:30lot of people watch them, people scramble to get online that are members of
- 45:35IMDb so they can write down their interesting facts. There are no interesting facts
- 45:39about this episode. So that means that nobody cared enough to log onto IMDb
- 45:46and write them down, because there's a lot of stuff they could do.
- 45:51You know, they mentioned the Dominion Wars. Stuff like that. They they'll
- 45:53usually write down, you know, in their interesting facts. Oh, they
- 45:58mentioned the Dominion War from face. Well, here's the Rotten Tomato score of
- 46:01season five so far. It's an eight with the critics, but only eighteen
- 46:06reviews from critics, and it's a twenty percent from the audience score with hundreds
- 46:09of ratings from the audio tracks that tracks. It's artistically, you know,
- 46:15from a all we talked about before a visual standpoint, it's it's beautiful.
- 46:20They they they touched on storylines that Hollywood loves so action critics here, Yeah,
- 46:28what's up with Saru man? They keep writing them off every episode,
- 46:31like, oh, SARU's busy over here, now, Sreu's busy over there.
- 46:34Now. You take the best characters of Discovery and you give them the
- 46:37least amount of screen time. I mean, we everybody loves Srew, I
- 46:39love Chilli, we all, we all love He's going to save the day
- 46:45in the in the last episode or the second to last episode, or or
- 46:50something. They made. They made a point early in this season of building
- 46:53him up as you know, Action Action. This is the fifth year no
- 46:59one's ever you know, talked about him like that. But they they put
- 47:02it in our heads in the beginning of the season that there's this that they
- 47:07think of him this this, they think of him this way. So yeah,
- 47:13I hit my cable. The belts full of bullets that you wear across
- 47:15her chest like band yeah, vandalier. Yeah, he's gonna have a couple
- 47:20of those on at the very last minute of you, I'm sorry, he's
- 47:28gonna have He's gonna just pop it at the last minute, just be like
- 47:30Action through with his little neck needle things bad. He's gonna save the day
- 47:37I'll kill those breed. He's gonna have You know, you can't come in.
- 47:42It's it's a he's coming in with with with two pistols. Now he's
- 47:45coming in with twelve twelve replicators on his heart like go go gadget now,
- 47:52yeah, go go gadget replicator hand cannons yep, yeah, yeah, they'll
- 47:59still irk me. So Rus steps in with some cool shades and mini gun
- 48:04smoking a cigar. Oh boy, yeah, looking like Duke nukemb Welcome to
- 48:17Trek Cast, the Star Trek podcast for people over forty. There you go,
- 48:22Duke. Yeah, Scott, you didn't say you're you're positive thing for
- 48:30the episode? Yeah, I did. Jet Janet Reno okay, yeah,
- 48:36Janet Reno, she's amazing and I I uh, I still love Tilly.
- 48:43I think she's great. Well she had this. I can't even I don't
- 48:45even remember that it all blood together now, Oh my god, darn,
- 48:49I have actually Drew Drew fe my tiny pricks. God. Oh no,
- 49:00o oh boy, that man Brooks got good job. It's not just what
- 49:12he said, it's also your delivery. Oh I caught it easter egg.
- 49:19Yeah. When they talked about they talked they talked about a beta z or
- 49:27a betazoid uh something or other with the uh the yeah mentioned they were telepassed.
- 49:37Yeah, and the the betas said character betazoid character that they mentioned,
- 49:45uh the name was Marina, which is obviously a reference to the first betazoid
- 49:52we've ever met in Star Trek, played by Marina Servis. Yeah. I'm
- 50:00now they're gone from Duke Seru. It's time to shoot needles and chew bubble
- 50:04gum and I'm a let of com Oh boy, all right, well,
- 50:12uh, there are a lot of there's a lot of one star reviews on
- 50:20IMDb and there're one star out of ten, Like one says, seriously,
- 50:25where would Star Trek no, sorry, the world no scrap that. Where
- 50:29would the universe universe be if it didn't have Michael like uh uh Like they're
- 50:37so over her already? Yeah, yeah, once again to the rescue Captain
- 50:45Burnham. Yeah. Yeah, you know what. What what cracks me up
- 50:51is she gets really irritated by Rainer m hm because he's just like her.
- 51:00Yeah yeah, absolutely, he's just like her. I don't care how many
- 51:05pips are on your collar. I'm gonna tell you that you're wrong and this
- 51:08is how it should be done. And he's just like her. Yeah,
- 51:13Rainer acts like some old master sergeant that just does not care anymore. Like
- 51:19he doesn't care about rank, he doesn't care about his position. He just
- 51:22you know, he And it's not like he was a captain of a starship
- 51:30so he knows how to act, especially if you're sitting in a room with
- 51:34your you know, other captains and ambassadors and admirals. But he just gives
- 51:37zero f's and you know, I don't know. It's says, why is
- 51:44there so much wisch spreing in this show? You can't hear crap? Yeah,
- 51:49I don't know. Yeah, well they did. They also mentioned they
- 51:52did mention there specifically the Breen attack. They said, uh, you know,
- 51:59Earth has been attacked four by the Breen. They're talking about that episode
- 52:01where the Breen makes it all the way to Earth and destroys half of San
- 52:07Francisco, right, you know there's that wide shot of like it was during
- 52:12the Dominion War on d phase nine. Yeah, how do I not remember
- 52:16that? So there was They didn't show the attack on screen. They just
- 52:22said Earth has been attacked. They reached the defenses. No Dominion or Breen
- 52:28ships survived the attack, but they just wanted to deal a psychological morale blow
- 52:34to the Federation. And they did this wide shot where they showed the Golden
- 52:38gate Bridge like half half falling apart. Yeah. Yeah, And it was
- 52:44supposed to be a demoralizing you know. And there was a conversation between Wayoun
- 52:49and the founder and and and the Brain commander about you know, the They
- 52:54were saying, oh, it was a good you know, morale strike.
- 52:57And yes they lost half the ships, but or most of their ships.
- 53:00So yeah, yeah, it's up on Memory Alpha. There's the image that
- 53:08Scott's talking about. I think it was just before the episode or during the
- 53:13episode where Cisco goes back to Starfleet headquarters and they want to declare martial law
- 53:19and and they're they're you know, they're they're paranoid that everybody's change lane and
- 53:25you know, yeah, is like you know this is BS and yeah,
- 53:30yeah, but you know again, this is eight hundred years ago. It's
- 53:37not real. It's not relevant at this point. No, no, the
- 53:42are you know, the United States, the United States strongest ally of the
- 53:50last sixty years is Great Britain, right, Okay, And two hundred years
- 53:55ago, they burned the White House and the Capitol to the ground, right,
- 54:00So yeah, this is four times this long ago, right, and
- 54:06you think in the future things are even more fast paced. So yeah,
- 54:08yeah, yeah, Well should we get to a listener feedback? Sure?
- 54:15Yeah, listener feedback? All right, we have some people who have already
- 54:25xed up and are waiting for us. So got Chas Biz and t Bar
- 54:30waiting, So let's get to Chazbis and we'll get to te Bear there is
- 54:34hello, welcome back. I got value. Man. You you you gotta
- 54:40stop molesting statues, at least if you're gonna if you're gonna molest them,
- 54:46you can't post pictures because I can't tell you how many comments I had to
- 54:52not approve. Really yeah, really yeah, yeah. People were not happy
- 55:00our our tear guide said it was lucky to touch it. Yeah, well
- 55:07that's what they said. And she she said it, and so everybody else
- 55:09is like, okay, so that's why. But you have to remove smooth
- 55:15right there. That's why it's all polished on her breast. What you have
- 55:19to remember is that the trek cast Facebook group is a is a public group.
- 55:25So that picture that picture is is viewable by literally anyone with a Facebook
- 55:30account in the world. There are some nasty a holes out there that.
- 55:39Yeah, so your tour guide said it provides luck. So I mean you
- 55:45must hear the character Jinks from Deadpool. I mean you must be the luckiest
- 55:50man on the planet. Now. There it is there, and that's why
- 55:53it's so smooth right there, like it's all polished on that area. So
- 55:59why here's the thing. It was all one color before Chas Biz got there.
- 56:02Yeah, it was a solid it was all patina. Yeah. Then
- 56:10right after that, that's when I got cold and got sick, sod.
- 56:15So that's always well at least, I mean, you didn't start feeling bad
- 56:19till you got back right or was it right there? I got it there.
- 56:22It was all being sick on vacation sucks. But overall, how was
- 56:27across the pond? I have another picture where these two actually it's three Icelandic
- 56:35ladies gave me. It was like Jaegermeister or something like that, and it
- 56:43was weird. I said by and they're like, are you American? And
- 56:45I said, yes, I'm American. You know, of course, because
- 56:47I got my big trick cash shirt on and it's like, well, we're
- 56:52you know, we're teachers, and we had to have somebody drink car local
- 56:58drink from Iceland, right, what is it. It's like this weird yeggermeister
- 57:01type thing. So I had to drink it. It was like and then
- 57:05the next thing we gotta do is pick some one up, hold them in
- 57:08the air, and then we got to find a no. And I'm like,
- 57:13well, you're not picking my ass up, oh way too much.
- 57:15So I was waiting for you to say you woke up in the tub full
- 57:20of ice. But it was weird. I was like, sitting there,
- 57:29do you get the sausage roll? No? I didn't. I did not
- 57:32get a sausage troll. I had English breakfast, I had you know,
- 57:37I had a bunch of French food. Had a went on the Paddington bus.
- 57:43Yeah that was cool. Okay, they pitched you on a seat about
- 57:50all of them that wide right, So two people are on that seat.
- 57:53I'm a big guy, and my wife's on that seat. And so we're
- 57:57riding around England, you know, all around London for about an hour and
- 58:00a half of his tiny seat in front of the bus. You got to
- 58:04ask for an American size seat. Yeah, this was a bad idea.
- 58:14That's awesome, But you watch this week's episode. Yes, I watched this
- 58:21week's episode, watched the last week's and I had a hard time staying up
- 58:24for this week's episode because my time change and everything. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 58:30the time change change. And like do I really care about a lot?
- 58:36And why is starfullet security so bad? Yea, even in this century?
- 58:43Why is like, you guys have all this technology, you let this
- 58:46girl like run around your ship take take it over? Crazy idea, crazy
- 58:53idea. Lock the door? Yeah, put do they have door locks?
- 58:59I mean security sale because she's a criminal and I have him by lock the
- 59:05mid bay and yeah, keep her informed and say like, hey, he's
- 59:08doing all right, he's recovering. And I don't know, I don't know.
- 59:15I mean they was able to lock down an entire ship by himself.
- 59:19I keep everybody on board at bay and they couldn't keep Yeah, I can't.
- 59:24They have force fields and can moves now like they have like all this
- 59:31other crap just in the transporters has nothing to do with the technology. It's
- 59:37it's the procedures. I don't know if any of you have ever been inside
- 59:40a correctional facility, but no two doors are open at the same time.
- 59:45Correct, So if you're moving through the facility, you get to this door,
- 59:50you buzz it gets buzzed open, you open the door, you close
- 59:53it behind you. You go to the next door, and if there's another
- 59:57door open anywhere in the area, you gotta wait that one doesn't open.
- 1:00:01So that's just simple procedure. You let the force go down and sick Bay,
- 1:00:06well you put one up at the door. Yeah, you can't get
- 1:00:08out, right, you know. Speaking of procedures, another thing that bugs
- 1:00:13me, not only Star Trek but everywhere else is they always handcuffed the people
- 1:00:16in front of them with handcuffs that let them pretty much do whatever they want
- 1:00:22to do, you know. I mean, she's like handcuff front of her.
- 1:00:25Stever says, it's the bumbling security guard trope. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:00:30the Keystone cops of Patrick and then walk pretty much you know, he kills
- 1:00:35himself like in Jackson right all that I was like, that didn't make any
- 1:00:37sense either, No, I know, yeah, I know, he's a
- 1:00:44patient, but he's still a prisoner. He should not be able to access
- 1:00:47his own medication. That's just still that's ridiculous. Yeah, I know.
- 1:00:53Yeah, you know she's a prisoner too, but you know she's going to
- 1:00:58be right by his bedsides. Just yeah, just stop. That doesn't happen.
- 1:01:05But it was. I don't know, Like, I don't know what
- 1:01:07they're leading up to, Like we have three episodes left. I don't think
- 1:01:10they know. Yeah, I don't. I'm telling you, man, then
- 1:01:15that friendship is the magic power that they all could yet by friendship. I
- 1:01:22know supposedly they wrote and and and filmed this months ago, but part of
- 1:01:28me, in the back of my body is thinking, like today they're like,
- 1:01:30Okay, I guess we have to put the finishing touches on the last
- 1:01:34So can can the Breen not turned back into a liquid? Is he solid
- 1:01:39now? And that's it, He's just stuck as a solid. I don't
- 1:01:43know, man, because you know they had Colbert said he he had damage
- 1:01:50to some internal organ but I don't know enough about it. So we need
- 1:01:52a Breen medic or whatever. Well, if he turns back into goo,
- 1:02:01I don't buy that. I don't know. Okay, that's another thing.
- 1:02:05I don't buy the I don't know enough about his physiology, you know,
- 1:02:08Uh, doctor McCoy bull crap. Scan the organ, figure out what it
- 1:02:13does, and then stitch it back together. That's what Scott does. That's
- 1:02:19what I do. That's what I do. Just scan the organ, figure
- 1:02:22out what it does. Yeah, you use your AI to say, Okay,
- 1:02:27well it looks like it does this and it helps that, so let's
- 1:02:30just make it undamaged. Right, it's a it's a it's a mcguffin gland.
- 1:02:36Yeah, if you could give Neelix holographic lungs, why not just give
- 1:02:44him a holographic organ. There you go, scan it, figure out what
- 1:02:46it does. Yeah, I bet they could in the future you have a
- 1:02:50holographic organ, like yeah, you have to wear a holo mitter or something
- 1:02:54just to keep it going temporarily and then get exactly Actually, that would be
- 1:03:00pretty cool. That's a good idea. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to
- 1:03:05write my surgeon in general right now. It's a holographic organs for everybody.
- 1:03:08Yeah, all right, And then interview with William Sadler, Right, yeah,
- 1:03:17why didn't you ask him about his ass and die Hard too? Was
- 1:03:22that really his ass? It was right there Because you're working out really hard
- 1:03:30doing TAI at the getting in that movie. I want to know, is
- 1:03:35that really your ass? You remember? Do you remember, Daniel, do
- 1:03:39you remember back in the day, like you named the shows before we filmed
- 1:03:44them. Now, but back in the day, we used to name the
- 1:03:45shows afterwards, and it would be some obscure thing that happened on the show.
- 1:03:52If we still did that, like the name of this episodeould be treck
- 1:03:54cast number whatever, whatever, William Sadler's ass. I'd like it, maybe
- 1:03:59because they do that again. The only problem with that is it made it
- 1:04:01really hard to follow what episode we were watching. Yeah, you know,
- 1:04:09I'd be trying to find like Discovery season one episode whatever and all. It
- 1:04:13is like, I think hellas a Double Dog. I think that's William Sadler's
- 1:04:16ass. I think I remember being ten years old seeing the movie in the
- 1:04:21theater with my dad and my dad looking ever like, oh my god,
- 1:04:26it's like, what did I pick this kid to? It's ever since I've
- 1:04:31seen die Hard too, So I didn't remember during the interview he didn't mention
- 1:04:38die Hard to. Yeah, he didn't got to read that. You got
- 1:04:40to read that last uh Yeah, asking the tough questions, asking asking the
- 1:04:47tough answer. That's awesome. That'd be the first thing I'd ask him because
- 1:04:56it's like that's like imprinted on my head as a little kid seeing that in
- 1:04:59the theater and William Sadler's as imprinted on your head like die hard to Uh,
- 1:05:10all right, jazz is well, thanks for being on. We got
- 1:05:13a lot of other people, So all right, you say, buddy,
- 1:05:16yeah, all right, we got a t bear also waiting to let's bring
- 1:05:19him on. There he is, who's uh, who's asked you want to
- 1:05:26talk about? Go ahead? Is that Taylor? That is Taylor? Oh
- 1:05:33yeah, it's a record. It's funny because uh, it was a it
- 1:05:39was a Christmas gag gift. It also came along with the Kelsey Oh yeah,
- 1:05:45great football. That's great. My kids don't really care for her music,
- 1:05:49so I've been keeping it there and threatening them if they don't do well,
- 1:05:54they're behaving badly, I'm going to play that likely excuse is a gag
- 1:05:58gift. You're probably the biggest twifty out there. Probably let us see your
- 1:06:04tailor swift tattoo. Yeah, let me hide the posters. Well, actually,
- 1:06:13I just want to mention the shirt from the experience, so like twice,
- 1:06:21so it's one of those where I'm probably preserving these shirts more than wearing
- 1:06:25them. Oh wow, very cool. But I wanted to talk about,
- 1:06:30you know, season six, season five, episode six. You know,
- 1:06:35it's that episode where Gerald Giraffe was a new kid in the school and all
- 1:06:41the other kids out. It takes me like half a beat that I'm like,
- 1:06:49I don't think he's talking about Star Trek. I think I remember how
- 1:06:54this one ends. Does he doesn't know anybody, but he's since he's super
- 1:06:58tall, he's able to help them. Isn't that this episode? God,
- 1:07:01yep, yep. Yeah. I think they got the turtle or something out
- 1:07:06of the tree. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna have to post on the
- 1:07:17I'm gonna have to post on our Facebook group because my mom's in the background
- 1:07:21taking photos of me looking like an idiot. So I'm gonna post those pictures
- 1:07:28on Facebook. Oh god, all right, pepper cast Yeah, because even
- 1:07:39my mom's like, what the hell are you guys talking about? Yeah,
- 1:07:45okay, let me check that one off my list here. It's funny.
- 1:07:50Every time I watched the show, I end up coming up. Well,
- 1:07:53I think you said, someone said last week was I watched the show and
- 1:07:58it's not that bad. And then I come down the Trek cast and I
- 1:08:00realized, oh man, I missed all those issues with the writing or the
- 1:08:04plot holes. But so the lesson is, no, one, don't don't
- 1:08:09watch casts. We're all so excited to watch these episodes because it's Star Trek,
- 1:08:15It's it's Dan and I watching Justice League, going, god, I
- 1:08:19really want this to be good. I really hope this is good. This
- 1:08:23is my favorite character, my favorite franchise. This has to be good.
- 1:08:28Ah it sucked. Yeah. Yeah, it's not the characters, it's not
- 1:08:32Star Trek, it's the it's the writing. But it's all like one could
- 1:08:41be good, Like it's all the elements are there, they're just little tweaks
- 1:08:45and it would be great. It's that potential. I think that that's the
- 1:08:48most courting. Yeah, I'm I'm convinced that tig Nataro writes our own lines.
- 1:08:54Oh, I'm sure, because they're good. They're all good. Yeah,
- 1:08:58No one caught seven of lines. Yeah what did I miss? She
- 1:09:05called a drink seven of limes. Yeah yeah, I wasn't sure what to
- 1:09:11make of that, but I did to which I was wondering, though,
- 1:09:15how does she know about seventh and she's pre she basically skipped over next gym
- 1:09:21or I'm sorry, voyager, I'm sure everybody took a crash course on twenty
- 1:09:26fifth through thirty second century, whatever century they're in, you know, that
- 1:09:31would be a that would be a really great thing to do, is fill
- 1:09:34in that gap of what happened in that timeframe, so we really know why
- 1:09:39they made a seven of Lime's joke, and maybe when she was captain of
- 1:09:42some kind of starship maybe maybe like a legacy kind of episode or show.
- 1:09:46Yeah, maybe seven saved the planet of Limes and or there was a Lime
- 1:09:50shortage and she was able to save all. We could explore that whole time
- 1:09:59era, like a twenty fifth century. I do know that somewhere somebody made
- 1:10:04a graphic that was how to make a seven of Limes drink, So yeah,
- 1:10:11okay, I look for that. Yeah, but the waiting Game Star
- 1:10:15drink fan is starting to feel like being in a Milwaukee Brewers fan. Every
- 1:10:19year we saw that this is our year only ends in disappointment. That's like,
- 1:10:23yeah, that's like being a right Lions fan. Yeah every year,
- 1:10:30yeah, every year, every episode. Yeah, Yeah, my one good
- 1:10:35thing, I guess it was nice to see Commander non back. Yeah so
- 1:10:40that. Yeah, she's cool. I like her. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:44she's better security guards. But yeah, it was great to see her.
- 1:10:48Everyone who works for her is horrible. But they got rid of her,
- 1:10:55her thing, her metal. They explained that in the last episode she was
- 1:10:59in. Oh yeah, they said something about either a she doesn't need them
- 1:11:03or be their internal I don't remember which one, but she still has because
- 1:11:09you also noticed that her eyes are different too, Yeah, and that was
- 1:11:13from spending time on her homeworld or something the Bizarre and home world. Yeah,
- 1:11:19so don't worry. Only three episodes left. Yeah, and they'll be
- 1:11:24ending the program at the very last episode, and like we'll come out of
- 1:11:27the holidck with uh Deanna and we'll be fine. Yeah. Anything else you
- 1:11:39want to bring up? T Bear, No other than you know, my
- 1:11:44favorite character is miss Rabbit. I mean absolutely absolutely. I thought I ended
- 1:11:51on that fantastic. Thanks, all right, hold on, my mom just
- 1:11:58handed me and no, she says her up, I'm getting hungry. Stop
- 1:12:00talking about this credit. I'm just kidding. She goes, I did not
- 1:12:10just called me a brat, as you should be. Yeah, she's not
- 1:12:15wrong, and then we also have hipster Spot coming on. Hey Heyboddy,
- 1:12:19Hey, yeah, are you okay cool? I haven't been on for a
- 1:12:25very long time, so I thought i'd drop in and say hello to you
- 1:12:28guys, and you No, Trek is still sort of part of my life.
- 1:12:34I still have all my all my like ships, and I still own
- 1:12:39the DVDs and stuff I've been them. And in fact, I think there's
- 1:12:45something to be said about owning like physical like you know, physical media like
- 1:12:51for sure, because I mean, if you when I signed up for Netflix,
- 1:13:00I start to realize that some of the TS episodes look different because they
- 1:13:06did all types of digital stuff on it. And then that got me thinking
- 1:13:11if they can do that too, Like a lot of the episodes, they
- 1:13:15can change it whenever they want, and they could take scenes out and all
- 1:13:19that stuff. So it's better to have the physical media and you can just
- 1:13:26make sure that you have all the scenes and all the parts that you remember.
- 1:13:31Yeah. Yeah, it's a very good point of something Star Wars fans
- 1:13:34have been struggling with, and so that's one of the things that you know,
- 1:13:43you got to defend your right to have like physical media, like if
- 1:13:48you have the chance to get DVDs. I mean at a really good deal,
- 1:13:54you should get it. What was it in France a few years ago
- 1:13:59they had a streaming service that went out of business where people could buy like
- 1:14:02digital files, you know, like a movie or whatever. But then when
- 1:14:06they shut it down, they said, well technically you never owned it.
- 1:14:10There's a long term rental. So yeah, yeah, I will be slowly
- 1:14:15collecting all the star trek uh Blu rays and DVDs, not Discovery, but
- 1:14:21everything else you know. Uh yeah, that's all the lower Decks stuff Lower
- 1:14:26Decks and Picard and yeah and Strange New Worlds first, Yeah, that's yeah.
- 1:14:38Well it's like you can't get a copy of ET anymore with them carrying
- 1:14:42with the FBI agents carrying guns. That's true. So yeah, that's that's
- 1:14:48the one thing. And I mean, like I said, the or I
- 1:14:53mentioned a few episodes ago, whatever, I haven't been watching. I don't
- 1:14:58even do the torrent thing because you know, so I just follow along as
- 1:15:03you guys follow along. Yeah that's my homework there, and so you know,
- 1:15:13I thank you guys for your sacrifice. We are the real heroes,
- 1:15:18aren't we. Daniel say it. We suffer for the people and all those
- 1:15:25dead brain cells did not go in vain. There you go, there you
- 1:15:30go. Yeah, I just thought I stop by and say hello, and
- 1:15:33you know, keep up the good work. And uh yeah I posted something
- 1:15:38about Pepa peg On on the Facebook group. Yeah so great, that's it
- 1:15:46nice, thank you? All right. I want to write a song called
- 1:15:51the Heroes of Trek Cast that is done in the style of the Heroes of
- 1:15:56Canton from Firefly. What's that? Don't even get me started? Dan greatest.
- 1:16:10Yeah, it's one of the greatest sci fi shows of all time.
- 1:16:13It's one of the stargates. I forgot no starget Firefly got it. I'm
- 1:16:17so glad I'm not going to Long Island? Or is that one of the
- 1:16:19Doctor doctor what? Yeah, it's a one of the doctor doctor when that's
- 1:16:25doctor when got it? You know. It's funny because when like four years
- 1:16:29ago, when you guys were talking about uh sci fi stuff and somebody mentioned
- 1:16:32Firefly, I think both at least Daniel was like, oh, yeah,
- 1:16:36great show, great show, loved it. Yeah, I've never seen the
- 1:16:41show. I saw the you watched it, Yeah you watched it out of
- 1:16:45order? Yeah, no, I just I just watched the one the one
- 1:16:48movie there's fire Fly and it's available on Netflix, so it's it's one of
- 1:16:55the greatest sci fi shows of all time. I love. I watched the
- 1:16:58movie first and then I watched the show. Yeah, Nathan Fillian's awesome,
- 1:17:01Marina Bakron Summer Glau, It's uh. Mike Medina did have a question for
- 1:17:09us, and it was, if you have your phaser sets to stunt,
- 1:17:13why would you feel compelled to warn your target to drop the weapon? Why
- 1:17:16not just shoot them right there? Yeah, that's a good point. Tactics
- 1:17:21haven't been a See. That's the thing. There are no real world tactics
- 1:17:26for them to draw upon for phasers on stun as effectively as they work in
- 1:17:30Star Trek, like if you can, you know, I would imagine law
- 1:17:33enforcement or even the military wud be a lot different tactically if they had a
- 1:17:38uh, you know, completely non lethal effective every time stun setting. Yeah.
- 1:17:44Yeah, that's true, you know, and not like you know,
- 1:17:46tasers, because I've I've seen video of like tasers just pissing the guy off.
- 1:17:51So it's true. I've been tastes. I ever tell you guys that
- 1:17:57no is that is that for space? Yes, okay, I was.
- 1:18:03I was actually a taser instructor for uh okay, yeah, some time.
- 1:18:08And it's cool. Part of that is they don't they don't. They don't
- 1:18:14make you get taste. They strongly suggest that you volunteer to be taste and
- 1:18:19this, and there's a bit of hazing that occurs if you don't. So
- 1:18:24you know the kind of bake you do it? Yeah? I do?
- 1:18:28Yeah, it was uh I do it. It was excruciatingly painful. I
- 1:18:32bet, I bet A waiting game's got a good question. Never thought about
- 1:18:39this, but if vaser is set to kill, does shot placement matter or
- 1:18:43you always dead? I've always thought it was a nervous system thing. Yeah,
- 1:18:47that's because they could just vaporize you and that you know that that doesn't
- 1:18:53matter. But I think that, well, vaporize this when you don't want
- 1:18:55evidence, right, you want to kill this guy or do we want to
- 1:19:00completely erase him from the timeline, right, why not simply vaporize him?
- 1:19:05Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I mean they've also talked
- 1:19:11about, you know, having phasers with a stunt setting but a wide dispersal,
- 1:19:17right, so you know, oh, we can stun everybody in the
- 1:19:20room. Well, you kind of just wrote yourself into a corner there,
- 1:19:23because why would you Why wouldn't you always stun everyone in the room. If
- 1:19:30you ever, if you have a room full of if you have a room
- 1:19:32full of enemies, and you also have unarmed civilians or your own people scattered
- 1:19:40throughout the room, stun everybody. Level three wide beam boom with stun everybody.
- 1:19:45Then you go through and you and you, you know, take care
