- 0:32Speaker 3: The food tastes better, the oxygen is more fresh, everything.
- 0:37Speaker 3: But they have a chance to like kind of get
- 0:39Speaker 3: back to the middle in terms of five hundred.
- 0:42Speaker 5: You know, five and five at the buys and play.
- 0:44Speaker 4: They could French twelve and five is in play. They've
- 0:46Speaker 4: only lost five games.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Okay, but twelve and five is ridiculous. Okay, so lost
- 0:50Speaker 5: five and five at the buye not really.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Like that. No one's penciling them in, Paul.
- 0:58Speaker 5: I was joking about it be No, it's if you would,
- 1:01Speaker 5: if you were That's that's second.
- 1:04Speaker 6: I'm opening the window a little bit.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's cracked, boy, And I wish I had
- 1:07Speaker 4: you as a college professor. You did nothing in the
- 1:11Speaker 4: seven classes that we had, but you came to the
- 1:13Speaker 4: eighth one and you did well that's an a you know.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So it was good for our German fans.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Yeah, you know that was big. That was big. That
- 1:20Speaker 4: was where the belief came.
- 1:21Speaker 5: That's right, they knew Germany was watching.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah for Deutsch.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Hold on, when you when you look when you look
- 1:27Speaker 4: at them, I misspoke, mind.
- 1:33Speaker 6: So like this is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:37Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website. For deals, buy a Toyota
- 1:41Speaker 7: dot com.
- 1:43Speaker 1: All right, welcome into Patriots Unfiltered. That's right, folks, it's
- 1:47Speaker 1: your lucky day. Deuce is hosting because Fred is on
- 1:49Speaker 1: jury duty. So Mike at a little wacky, Mike at a
- 1:52Speaker 1: little weird as always when I'm over here and things
- 1:54Speaker 1: get off the rails. But it's Deuce seven, it's Paul
- 1:58Speaker 1: three of us holding the fork down here.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah, let's go places. Was kind of conventional.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Well, I wanted to give a conventional one.
- 2:04Speaker 4: So it was disappointed.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So when the sponsor complains and says, hey, this host
- 2:08Speaker 1: is always doing it wrong, they can, you know, pull
- 2:09Speaker 1: mine up and say.
- 2:10Speaker 6: Well, actually this guy did it right.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Okay, I don't know I didn't come up. But there's
- 2:14Speaker 1: only so much you can do. There's only three words.
- 2:15Speaker 1: You can only put the emphasis on certain certain times.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So what are we gonna do? All Right, We're gonna
- 2:22Speaker 1: be here for two hours talking Patriots. We heard from
- 2:24Speaker 1: Bill this morning, we heard from Mac this morning. Evan's
- 2:27Speaker 1: gonna go out to practice. We'll see who's out there.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Maybe some key On White returning. I'd like to see
- 2:32Speaker 1: him get back in there and provide a little little jolt.
- 2:35Speaker 1: A couple guys released yesterday we can get to as well,
- 2:37Speaker 1: some interesting things. And otherwise we're we're turning the page,
- 2:41Speaker 1: as Fred likes to say, to the Dolphins, and they're
- 2:44Speaker 1: explosive and entertaining offense and trying to figure out how
- 2:48Speaker 1: the Patriots can can take him down. So where should
- 2:51Speaker 1: we being in Fellas? Shall we begin yesterday with Malie
- 2:54Speaker 1: Connem getting released my player to watch from last week.
- 2:58Speaker 4: That's funny.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Of course we tried to act on the practice squad.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I know, but he's definitely not a player to win.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I mean, you don't think he'll get claimed off waivers?
- 3:06Speaker 5: Well, him and kish On Booty or you know the
- 3:08Speaker 5: next coming of Randy Moss and Wes Welker.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So I died maybe when that happened. I couldn't believe
- 3:13Speaker 1: it that that, you know, it's just I mean, it's them, like,
- 3:16Speaker 1: you know, we never pumped up Malie cunning him on
- 3:18Speaker 1: the show, right, like we never took the cheese or
- 3:20Speaker 1: talked about three year deals and meaning anything or anything
- 3:23Speaker 1: like that.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Oh, I told you the opposite and the three year deal.
- 3:26Speaker 4: It's standard.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad you did, because I think that's a
- 3:30Speaker 1: but something that's out there that people are right.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I do think it's Listen, is it a big deal? No,
- 3:36Speaker 4: it's not. You know, we don't need to spend ten
- 3:38Speaker 4: minutes talking about it. But I do find it a
- 3:39Speaker 4: little odd that rather than just elevate him when they
- 3:43Speaker 4: needed a spot, they signed him and then, you know,
- 3:46Speaker 4: if they have any designs on him, you do run
- 3:49Speaker 4: the risk of losing him. And I can be snarky
- 3:51Speaker 4: all I want about I don't think anybody will claim him,
- 3:53Speaker 4: but when you release a guy, there's always a chance.
- 3:57Speaker 4: You know, who's the guy they lost on waivers last
- 3:59Speaker 4: week or two weeks ago that they didn't expect to
- 4:00Speaker 4: lose on off the waivers. A mere speed a mere speed. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 4: you know, so anytime you expose a player, you have
- 4:08Speaker 4: to be prepared to lose him, as Bill always says.
- 4:10Speaker 4: So I I guess it was like sort of injury
- 4:14Speaker 4: related and maybe they had another elevation that week that
- 4:17Speaker 4: they felt like they had to do rather than sign
- 4:19Speaker 4: that person to the to the active roster. But it
- 4:23Speaker 4: didn't really make a lot of sense to me to
- 4:25Speaker 4: do it the way they did it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes even less sense right now, Like I
- 4:28Speaker 1: just I'm I'm befuddled, Like I don't know, I can't
- 4:30Speaker 1: even like why why.
- 4:33Speaker 5: It's weird, especially like are you really going to judge
- 4:36Speaker 5: him off of six snaps in one game? And he
- 4:39Speaker 5: looked overwhelmed in the six snaps that he played, especially
- 4:42Speaker 5: the two at quarterback, But it was two snaps in
- 4:45Speaker 5: his first two snaps ever in an NFL game, So
- 4:48Speaker 5: you're really going to hold that against him and say, no,
- 4:52Speaker 5: never mind, we thought we might have had something here,
- 4:54Speaker 5: but he's not ready. I guess maybe, I don't know.
- 4:57Speaker 5: I think the one thing that that really stood out
- 4:59Speaker 5: though is Juju Smith Schuster's concussion, along with his lack
- 5:04Speaker 5: of performance, I would say on the field as well,
- 5:07Speaker 5: and then looking at Taekwon Thornton and his lacking role
- 5:12Speaker 5: gets us to Jalen Rager, who is now out of
- 5:16Speaker 5: practice squad elevations. He's hit the three maximum limit, and
- 5:21Speaker 5: they now opened a roster spot on the fifty three
- 5:23Speaker 5: man roster by releasing a guy that they view mostly
- 5:26Speaker 5: as a wide receiver. So just connecting the dots. I
- 5:30Speaker 5: asked Bill this morning about Jalen Rager. He wouldn't take
- 5:33Speaker 5: the cheese on telling me about their roster moves ahead
- 5:36Speaker 5: of time, shocker, but he did have some nice things
- 5:39Speaker 5: to say about Rager, and I think that there's a
- 5:42Speaker 5: real possibility that they look at it and say Rager
- 5:45Speaker 5: is ready to play receiver for us right now and
- 5:48Speaker 5: contribute for us right now, and that's what we need.
- 5:50Speaker 1: So they got rid of Trey Flowers too, which was
- 5:52Speaker 1: another kind of interesting one. I would like to go
- 5:53Speaker 1: back to Rager. Maybe we can just stick on him
- 5:55Speaker 1: for a second, because I tried to bring him up
- 5:57Speaker 1: yesterday when we were talking about the push to get
- 5:59Speaker 1: more speed on the field, and you know, we know
- 6:01Speaker 1: how disappointing he's been. He was a first round pick.
- 6:03Speaker 1: He's always been fast, and you know, it's hard to
- 6:06Speaker 1: trumpet him when he had one catch. Evan, you pointed
- 6:08Speaker 1: out he had a nice a nice block on one
- 6:10Speaker 1: of one of the end rounds is that we had,
- 6:13Speaker 1: So you know, I guess he is contributing.
- 6:15Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Do you guys see any reason for optimism that he
- 6:18Speaker 1: can continue to grow and maybe be a part of
- 6:20Speaker 1: this offense or maybe take snap continue to take snaps
- 6:23Speaker 1: away from from Parker.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I would rather see it that way, just because I
- 6:29Speaker 4: do think that the speed is valuable, at least mentally
- 6:33Speaker 4: on the defense in some way. Do I think there's
- 6:36Speaker 4: a chance that we're looking this two years from now,
- 6:39Speaker 4: like wow, you know sometimes it takes guys a few
- 6:42Speaker 4: stops before it clicks. No, I don't. I don't anticipate that,
- 6:45Speaker 4: but I I the way Evan put it, like you
- 6:49Speaker 4: got very little out of Juju Smith Schuster before he
- 6:52Speaker 4: got hurt. DeVante Parker was cut in half basically his
- 6:57Speaker 4: his snap's last game. I don't have any problem if
- 7:01Speaker 4: those snaps go to Rager on a more consistent level.
- 7:05Speaker 4: The wouldn't Obviously didn't get a ton of snaps. He
- 7:07Speaker 4: only had three in the game the other day. I
- 7:10Speaker 4: kind of liked the idea. Evan's been talking about that
- 7:13Speaker 4: since training camp, you know, just the idea of getting
- 7:15Speaker 4: your fastest guys on the field, and that was before
- 7:18Speaker 4: Rager was even here.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think it's clear that Born and Pop
- 7:22Speaker 5: are your two best receivers, and neither one of those
- 7:25Speaker 5: guys is a traditional X like, so you're not going
- 7:28Speaker 5: to play either one of those guys in that role.
- 7:31Speaker 5: And if you start to talk about how can we
- 7:34Speaker 5: use those guys as like the Z and the F
- 7:37Speaker 5: and then have some speed at the X, when those
- 7:39Speaker 5: are our speed guys like you, it becomes Rager or
- 7:42Speaker 5: Taekwon at that point. And for whatever reason, I feel
- 7:46Speaker 5: like Taekwon is falling out of favor with a lot
- 7:49Speaker 5: of people in the organization's coaching staff. Quarterback like, I
- 7:54Speaker 5: don't necessarily know if Mac trusts that Taekwon is going
- 7:57Speaker 5: to be in the right spot all the time when
- 8:00Speaker 5: he is out there. We know a similar situation to
- 8:03Speaker 5: Rager's got a lot of natural talent, a lot of speed,
- 8:07Speaker 5: but it hasn't necessarily translated into any sort of production.
- 8:10Speaker 5: And maybe Rager, who's you know, I mentioned the jet
- 8:13Speaker 5: sweep like a little bit thicker, like a little bit
- 8:15Speaker 5: better blocker as well potentially, But I think what it
- 8:18Speaker 5: boils down to is that they really need to use
- 8:22Speaker 5: Born and Pop in specific roles for what those guys'
- 8:25Speaker 5: skill set is, which means that they have to come
- 8:27Speaker 5: up with somebody else to play the X spot and
- 8:29Speaker 5: if DeVante Parker is not getting it done, then it
- 8:32Speaker 5: kind of becomes a conversation about Jalen Rager, which is
- 8:36Speaker 5: you can say that that's where we're at, and it's
- 8:39Speaker 5: kind of sad that Jalen Rager, a bust first round pick,
- 8:41Speaker 5: is your best bet, but that's also you know where
- 8:44Speaker 5: we're at.
- 8:45Speaker 4: So can you use a little creativity and sort of
- 8:47Speaker 4: patch it together with those two guys and you sort
- 8:49Speaker 4: of look at it, you know. I still like the
- 8:53Speaker 4: idea of Parker's big body, like on the slants and
- 8:57Speaker 4: stuff when when he's engaged. I thought he didn't have
- 9:00Speaker 4: a huge impact of the game, but I do think
- 9:02Speaker 4: the slant at the end of the game was part
- 9:03Speaker 4: of that drive. It was a valuable play, I don't
- 9:05Speaker 4: want to overstate it. And maybe when you're in you know,
- 9:09Speaker 4: the regular part of the field, you you have more
- 9:12Speaker 4: reagor who might put something in the back of the
- 9:15Speaker 4: mind of the opponent opposing secondary in terms of his
- 9:18Speaker 4: ability to run by.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You do you worried all about trying to get jujus
- 9:22Speaker 1: like shoehorn juju back into this lineup right now where
- 9:25Speaker 1: it feels like you find something in the middle and
- 9:26Speaker 1: now little bit, he was back at practice last week, right, So.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Yeah, he was practicing last week all week in limited
- 9:32Speaker 5: capacity obviously. But I'm with Paul, I worry about it
- 9:36Speaker 5: a little bit. I mean, this is the guy that
- 9:38Speaker 5: you paid in the off season. And ESPN Analytics just
- 9:41Speaker 5: dropped like a new metric for receivers. Was it kind
- 9:45Speaker 5: of one and out of one hundred and nine receivers
- 9:48Speaker 5: in the metric, Juju Smith Schuster ranks one hundred and nine, No,
- 9:53Speaker 5: dead last.
- 9:54Speaker 1: What is the metric supposed to measure?
- 9:57Speaker 5: Yeah? So it measures three categories. It's an open percentage, right,
- 10:02Speaker 5: how often you get separation, catch point, you know, contested catches,
- 10:07Speaker 5: things like that, and then yak and he is, yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 5: is fourth in yack rating. So Juju Smith Schuster is not.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Is this all like pass catchers altogether? Yeah? So was
- 10:20Speaker 4: this the one that Hunter Henry.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Was Yeah, Hunter Henry is pretty far down as well,
- 10:24Speaker 5: which I think when you talk about like separation and yack,
- 10:28Speaker 5: he doesn't really do either one of those things very well.
- 10:31Speaker 5: But he's a really really good, uh you know, stronghand sturdy,
- 10:36Speaker 5: possession type of tight end. So I understand why you
- 10:39Speaker 5: wouldn't look at him and say an analytics just yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 4: No, this is why, this is why I leave that
- 10:44Speaker 4: to you, because this is when I'm out. Hunter Henry
- 10:47Speaker 4: has been a good player for the Patriots all season,
- 10:50Speaker 4: all seven games. He's been a good player for them.
- 10:53Speaker 4: And if he ranks that level because he doesn't check
- 10:56Speaker 4: the right boxes analytically, it's just kind of a just
- 11:00Speaker 4: give me some good football player, juju, I get, yeah,
- 11:02Speaker 4: Juju has that. My eyes tell me that he's not
- 11:06Speaker 4: making plays. He's not getting open, he's averaging like six
- 11:09Speaker 4: yards a catch, Like I see that myself. But Hunter
- 11:13Speaker 4: Henry's made some big plays for that team.
- 11:14Speaker 5: I always take these metrics and we don't have to
- 11:17Speaker 5: like go on a whole thing about this metric, but
- 11:20Speaker 5: I always take these metrics and almost look at it
- 11:22Speaker 5: as like tiers instead of looking at it as like
- 11:25Speaker 5: individual hard ranking. So it's like all right, like you know,
- 11:29Speaker 5: these this is like the Tier one wide receivers and
- 11:32Speaker 5: these is like the Tier ten wide receivers, and that
- 11:36Speaker 5: I think is better. I treat PFF grades the same way,
- 11:39Speaker 5: like to Trent Brown is the second ratest tackle in
- 11:42Speaker 5: football right now according to PFF. Do I think he's
- 11:45Speaker 5: the second best tackle in the NFL. No, but I
- 11:47Speaker 5: think that he's like a good starting tackle, like and
- 11:50Speaker 5: that's what PFF is telling you. It's not telling you
- 11:52Speaker 5: that he's necessarily better than you know, Trent Williams. It's
- 11:55Speaker 5: just saying that he's a good player.
- 11:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I just think there's gonna be rise in the streets
- 11:59Speaker 1: this week if it's Pops out and Juju's in and
- 12:02Speaker 1: Juju's getting all the snaps and you know, like that,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I just feel like they found something that may be.
- 12:07Speaker 4: I don't think that will happen. I just worry that they'll,
- 12:09Speaker 4: like you put it like shoehorn Juju in there and
- 12:12Speaker 4: have them have a bigger role. But I don't think
- 12:15Speaker 4: Pop is gonna just like leave.
- 12:17Speaker 1: No, he better, he better not after the jump he took.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But it's just a weird problem to have. I feel like,
- 12:22Speaker 1: because you've paid Parker and Smith Schuster is kind of
- 12:25Speaker 1: your guys. But you're starting to get more production from
- 12:28Speaker 1: other guys and new guys, and it's it's hard to
- 12:31Speaker 1: look at these guys that you handed money to, that
- 12:33Speaker 1: you know are supposedly on three year deals remaining like
- 12:37Speaker 1: and then phase them out of the offense. Have to
- 12:39Speaker 1: get them out, you know, it's hard to it's hard
- 12:40Speaker 1: to break up. And I answered it the way, Yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 1: it's hard to break up with those guys, right, yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 5: And I think like a guy like Kendrick Bourne, who
- 12:47Speaker 5: I know a lot of people think should be on
- 12:48Speaker 5: the trade block and things like that, Like if I'm
- 12:50Speaker 5: the Patriots, I am extending like I'm keeping Kendrick Bourne.
- 12:55Speaker 5: But now I don't know if we know that in
- 12:59Speaker 5: the past that is just general I don't know what
- 13:02Speaker 5: the word is, like makeup, you know, is not really
- 13:05Speaker 5: like the Patriot way. You know, he's a talkative guy.
- 13:08Speaker 5: He's sometimes speaks out and speaks his mind, especially last year,
- 13:13Speaker 5: so I don't know if he's a fit for them.
- 13:16Speaker 5: But at the same time, like that's he's just kind
- 13:19Speaker 5: of a wide receiver, Like that's just kind of what
- 13:22Speaker 5: some of those guys are like.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I fall in the middle. I would generally agree with
- 13:26Speaker 4: what Evan just said about wanting to extend Kendrick Bourne,
- 13:29Speaker 4: but I would only want to do that if I
- 13:32Speaker 4: could get out of the other stuff that I've already done.
- 13:35Speaker 4: What I would worry about is, Okay, so you extend
- 13:38Speaker 4: him and now you have Parker Born and Juju definitely
- 13:44Speaker 4: moving forward. I don't like that. I don't like running
- 13:46Speaker 4: back with basically the same crew of receivers. Now, if
- 13:50Speaker 4: you could say, you know what we're looking at this now,
- 13:54Speaker 4: maybe that three year deal for Juju wasn't a good idea,
- 13:56Speaker 4: you know, or maybe you know, Parker's extend, you know,
- 14:01Speaker 4: upon closer look, is not really an extension. We can
- 14:04Speaker 4: get out of that. By all means, Let's let's keep
- 14:07Speaker 4: Born and then see if we can get builled around
- 14:10Speaker 4: him with Douglas Born and then bring in you know,
- 14:14Speaker 4: we'll bring in Marfard Harrison to be the number one,
- 14:17Speaker 4: you know guy, or something like that, you know what
- 14:19Speaker 4: I mean. Like, I like that that idea, then you know,
- 14:24Speaker 4: just sort of keeping the same crew, because then I worry, well,
- 14:27Speaker 4: how much money they're gonna spend.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I think like with Juju, just based off of
- 14:32Speaker 5: what we know about his contract. It's basically a two
- 14:36Speaker 5: year deal.
- 14:36Speaker 4: That's what it seems like on paper.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and I don't know how now they got somebody
- 14:41Speaker 5: to take Johnny Smith, and Johnny Smith is having a
- 14:44Speaker 5: decent year for the Falcons, so it's not impossible to
- 14:48Speaker 5: find some a trade partner, I suppose for a late
- 14:50Speaker 5: round pick that would take Juju off your hands next year.
- 14:53Speaker 5: But it does preclude them, I think, from just completely
- 14:57Speaker 5: walking away without trading him in terms of just cutting him.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I guess we'll get a glimpse this weekend
- 15:04Speaker 1: of what direction they're saying. But I mean it's like
- 15:07Speaker 1: you said, I know they need so much, but just
- 15:08Speaker 1: you know, kind of seeing Douglas start to emerge and
- 15:11Speaker 1: born if they could maybe keep him, like all right,
- 15:13Speaker 1: maybe it's not like a total teardown on offense that
- 15:16Speaker 1: we thought that it might have been.
- 15:18Speaker 4: You know, there's enough. There's enough there to have a
- 15:20Speaker 4: represent you had a representative offense on Sunday. There's enough
- 15:23Speaker 4: to do that. Like I know that it's just so
- 15:25Speaker 4: easy to say they don't have any line, they don't
- 15:27Speaker 4: have any receivers, they have no playmakers. Yeah, I mean,
- 15:30Speaker 4: I get it. They don't have an explosive group of
- 15:34Speaker 4: playmakers on offense, but they should be better than they
- 15:37Speaker 4: were for the most part earlier in the season. They
- 15:40Speaker 4: and I'm not telling you they have to be like
- 15:41Speaker 4: they were on Sunday every week in terms of like
- 15:44Speaker 4: thirty points. But can you move the ball like that
- 15:48Speaker 4: every week? Yeah? I think you can?
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah quickly. Also on the Trey Flowers thing, so
- 15:54Speaker 1: he was coming up on, you know, the deadline from
- 15:57Speaker 1: when they had to activate him kind of. Bill gave
- 15:59Speaker 1: an interesting on answer today about trade Flowers. It's just
- 16:03Speaker 1: I think Sophie Weller asked him about about him and
- 16:06Speaker 1: the status. What do you think is going on there
- 16:08Speaker 1: with with Flowers?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Any And I don't know the rule like going to
- 16:11Speaker 4: plead ignorance.
- 16:12Speaker 5: So he had twenty one days. They activated him on
- 16:16Speaker 5: October fourth, which means that today would be the deadline
- 16:18Speaker 5: if they didn't. If they didn't put him on the
- 16:21Speaker 5: fifty three man roster today, he would have been out
- 16:24Speaker 5: for the season, like on permanent ir.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Just just to I did know that, yeah, yeaheah, that
- 16:30Speaker 4: part of the rule I didn't know, like the whole
- 16:31Speaker 4: like they had to really to do what You'll cut
- 16:34Speaker 4: him and reset the clocks or something or recent that
- 16:36Speaker 4: allow you to put him on the practice squad.
- 16:38Speaker 5: So I don't know, it depends on and we'll find
- 16:40Speaker 5: out later. If they cut him with an injury settlement,
- 16:43Speaker 5: then they couldn't just automatically resign him. Connor McDermott situation
- 16:48Speaker 5: got wait yeah, time, yeah, until he's what the team
- 16:52Speaker 5: would deal.
- 16:53Speaker 4: It's based on how many weeks you think a guy's
- 16:55Speaker 4: going to be out. He has to get paid, yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 4: like yeah X that amount.
- 16:59Speaker 1: But you guys are probably a little relieved. I mean
- 17:01Speaker 1: I wasn't as like, oh god, they're going to put
- 17:03Speaker 1: Trey Flowers in there. But I know you guys just
- 17:04Speaker 1: didn't want really any any parts of that because of
- 17:07Speaker 1: wanting to turn the page to younger guys and you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: giving somebody maybe like key On White, more of a
- 17:11Speaker 1: chance than yeah, than putting flowers in right.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 4: I mean I wouldn't sit here and like stole in
- 17:16Speaker 4: the castle if they decided to activate Trey Flowers, like, oh, well,
- 17:20Speaker 4: there it is. There's the difference in the season. No,
- 17:22Speaker 4: you know, I like Trey Flowers, but I do like
- 17:24Speaker 4: the idea of you know, seeing guys like White and
- 17:27Speaker 4: Mapu and you know those kinds of guys getting you know,
- 17:30Speaker 4: Anthony Jennings like find out if he could you know,
- 17:33Speaker 4: see if this is just a blip in the you know,
- 17:35Speaker 4: a spike in his production, or if this is who
- 17:36Speaker 4: he is, yeah, you know, rather than saml Sable.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I thought Tamarcus coming in had some real nice things
- 17:42Speaker 1: to say about Anthony Jennings. He's usually a little close
- 17:44Speaker 1: to the vest, but Taylor asked him, you know, markin
- 17:47Speaker 1: DeMarcus yesterday just about Jennings saying, you know he's always ready.
- 17:50Speaker 1: We we you know, we know he's going to be
- 17:52Speaker 1: prepared no matter what he's going to player, isn't you know.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I just he's such an interesting player to me because
- 17:58Speaker 1: like he was a big board guy for me, Like
- 17:59Speaker 1: I just saw him. He's like this is a this
- 18:01Speaker 1: is a Patriots outside linemacker.
- 18:02Speaker 6: This is what they look like.
- 18:03Speaker 1: He's not, you know, by Bama. Yeah, not a devastating
- 18:06Speaker 1: pass rusher or anything, but was solid. I think the
- 18:08Speaker 1: first year in twenty twenty because the injuries, they kind
- 18:10Speaker 1: of played him inside a little bit more and you
- 18:13Speaker 1: never really saw the potential there that he might have
- 18:15Speaker 1: on the edge. He missed what all of two years
- 18:18Speaker 1: ago and and was kind of a bit player last year.
- 18:21Speaker 1: So he's finally getting a chance to make some plays.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And it's you know, when he wasn't even active what
- 18:25Speaker 1: the first couple of games.
- 18:26Speaker 4: At least the first one. I think it might have
- 18:28Speaker 4: been the first two.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's and we remember in camp he
- 18:31Speaker 1: was he was pretty solid like this. I mean, I
- 18:33Speaker 1: just remember him given preseasons too a hard time.
- 18:36Speaker 4: On the first preseason game he definitely flashed.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Yeah. So yeah, he's had you know, tough go of
- 18:42Speaker 5: it with injuries. Like in college he was I don't
- 18:45Speaker 5: know if he was. I want to say he was
- 18:47Speaker 5: like a five star guy coming out and like it
- 18:49Speaker 5: was one of those like big Bama recruits and had
- 18:52Speaker 5: a huge one of his underclassman seasons. I don't know
- 18:55Speaker 5: if his freshman or sophomore season, had a really big
- 18:57Speaker 5: season at Bama, and then blew out his knee like
- 19:00Speaker 5: like devastatingly a horrible injury in college and since then
- 19:07Speaker 5: he's never really gotten back, like the twitch in the
- 19:09Speaker 5: pass rush, like he's never really gotten that, you know,
- 19:13Speaker 5: sack artist type of movement back and you know that
- 19:17Speaker 5: I think really hurt him in some people's eyes. But
- 19:20Speaker 5: in terms of like setting the edge and being sturdy
- 19:23Speaker 5: out there and pushing the pocket in the pass rush
- 19:26Speaker 5: and being involved in some of their their schemed rushes
- 19:29Speaker 5: and things like that, he's done a nice job. I
- 19:31Speaker 5: mean that he's not been a game changer, but he's
- 19:35Speaker 5: done his job kind of like a Jelani Tvi like
- 19:37Speaker 5: to you know, like guys that just kind of get
- 19:39Speaker 5: it done, Like is it gonna change the complexion of
- 19:42Speaker 5: your season when they were out there, No, but they
- 19:44Speaker 5: they definitely have something for them.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yeah. One other guy that Covington talked about. I thought
- 19:48Speaker 1: it was kind of interesting was bar More. You know,
- 19:51Speaker 1: not as as glowing or as long as he kind
- 19:53Speaker 1: of went on about Jennings, but I just thought it
- 19:54Speaker 1: was interesting. He said something the effective you know, he's
- 19:57Speaker 1: being able to make plays within the structure of the defense,
- 20:00Speaker 1: And to me, that kind of signal that Barmore kind
- 20:03Speaker 1: of freestyle sometimes and that's not what they want. And
- 20:05Speaker 1: right now he's doing what he's supposed to do and
- 20:07Speaker 1: he's having some success because of it.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Yeah. I thought Bill's talk about him a little bit.
- 20:11Speaker 4: This morning was interesting too, just about how he was
- 20:13Speaker 4: able to train differently and better more effectively because he
- 20:17Speaker 4: was healthy. When he first started that answer, I was like, Oh,
- 20:19Speaker 4: is this another one of those guys that wasn't doing
- 20:22Speaker 4: And then he quickly got it back on track. You know,
- 20:26Speaker 4: he was able to train because he was healthy, and
- 20:29Speaker 4: I think he felt like he had a better offseason
- 20:31Speaker 4: this year than he did previously.
- 20:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I love talking to Barmore in the locker room
- 20:35Speaker 5: about pass rush and things like that, and he's a
- 20:38Speaker 5: great quote and I've talked to him in the past
- 20:40Speaker 5: about learning how to play within the system, and I
- 20:43Speaker 5: think that was a challenge for him, absolutely was. In
- 20:46Speaker 5: this defense, the gap discipline is the number one thing,
- 20:49Speaker 5: Like if you get out of your gap, they're going
- 20:52Speaker 5: to get on you for that. And he had to
- 20:54Speaker 5: figure out, how can I make an impact while also
- 20:57Speaker 5: doing what they want me to do, and that I
- 21:00Speaker 5: think was a challenge for him at times. But I
- 21:02Speaker 5: think he's really figured out when to pick his spots.
- 21:04Speaker 5: And in this pass game against the Bills, they basically
- 21:08Speaker 5: challenged him and said, hey, like we need some push
- 21:11Speaker 5: up the middle this game, Like against Josh Allen because
- 21:13Speaker 5: the edge guys are going to have to keep him
- 21:15Speaker 5: in the pocket and we're gonna have to be able to,
- 21:17Speaker 5: you know, get to him up the middle. And you know,
- 21:20Speaker 5: he had a great game, So I think he's starting
- 21:22Speaker 5: to figure out how to use that best rush and
- 21:25Speaker 5: when to use it and when to hold his gap.
- 21:27Speaker 5: And he's definitely been better against the run this year
- 21:30Speaker 5: as well.
- 21:31Speaker 1: That's one of the interesting things I picked up from
- 21:33Speaker 1: I always try to listen to coming to and I think,
- 21:34Speaker 1: you know, he's great, but he talks a lot about
- 21:37Speaker 1: just the challenge of going from two gapping and kind
- 21:40Speaker 1: of holding the guy up to then realizing it's a
- 21:42Speaker 1: pass and transitioning to a pass rush, and it's it's
- 21:45Speaker 1: got to be a difficult thing for a guy like Barmore,
- 21:47Speaker 1: who probably was just like a Bama like just go
- 21:49Speaker 1: get the quarterback, you know, like you just run through
- 21:51Speaker 1: the gap, you know, and now it's it's it's having
- 21:52Speaker 1: to you know, use two different techniques within the same
- 21:55Speaker 1: the same down. Being able to be strong and hold
- 21:57Speaker 1: your ground and and not get pushed back, but then
- 21:59Speaker 1: also able to shed that block and you know, get
- 22:02Speaker 1: up field. So maybe maybe he's making progress. I think
- 22:04Speaker 1: we're all excited about it.
- 22:05Speaker 4: That he was great. Yeah, I mean he really had
- 22:07Speaker 4: an impact on that game the other day.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and we need they need him to and continuing
- 22:12Speaker 1: this week into into Miami. Like I said, we heard
- 22:15Speaker 1: from Bill anything else from Bill that was of note
- 22:18Speaker 1: or particularly interesting. Certainly he talked about all these guys
- 22:20Speaker 1: were talking about Jennings Raeger, I mean the hot pats
- 22:23Speaker 1: that are Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 4: I mean, for the most part, I thought he had
- 22:25Speaker 4: regular Bill answers. I did think a couple of things
- 22:28Speaker 4: were interesting. One when he was sort of asked about
- 22:30Speaker 4: Trent Brown and the question was posed, you know, it's
- 22:33Speaker 4: just the best football you've seen Trent Brown play. And
- 22:35Speaker 4: Bill wasn't having it, you know, And it wasn't because
- 22:38Speaker 4: he wasn't wanting to give Trent Brown any credit. It
- 22:41Speaker 4: was like, don't make it out to be that this
- 22:43Speaker 4: has been anything all the special. This is what we
- 22:46Speaker 4: you know, We've gotten a lot of good football from him.
- 22:49Speaker 4: So I do think that there is a and I
- 22:53Speaker 4: know I'm on the island here. I think there's an
- 22:55Speaker 4: abnormal sort of impression of what Trent Brown is based
- 22:59Speaker 4: on what the coaches as posted to others. But I
- 23:03Speaker 4: thought it was interesting that no, don't don't make this
- 23:05Speaker 4: out to me that he's playing great right now. This
- 23:07Speaker 4: is kind of what we expect from Trent Brown. That
- 23:10Speaker 4: was his answer to me. And the other thing that
- 23:12Speaker 4: I thought was interesting I mentioned to you guys off
- 23:14Speaker 4: air the last question there was. Someone asked a question
- 23:18Speaker 4: about Will Greer in his development as far as you know,
- 23:22Speaker 4: giving looks on the scout team, having to sort of
- 23:25Speaker 4: emulate different kinds of quarterbacks, And the answer that Bill
- 23:27Speaker 4: gave was Will and Bailey have both done that and
- 23:30Speaker 4: done a good job of that, which unsolicited. He included
- 23:33Speaker 4: the fact that Bailey Zappi is also doing the scout work,
- 23:37Speaker 4: not just Will Greer. So I think that I think
- 23:41Speaker 4: that whole backup quarterback thing, it remains a story.
- 23:46Speaker 1: The competition probably going on behind the scenes. You think, yes,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I do.
- 23:49Speaker 5: I mean, at least after coming off this game, it's
- 23:52Speaker 5: like not as big of a story. I don't.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Don't you think one of these games, that's one of
- 23:57Speaker 4: these weeks we're going to we're going to get the
- 23:59Speaker 4: the is and Zapi's going to be the third in
- 24:02Speaker 4: career is going to be just regular on the rule.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Well, the way people are talking about it, especially after
- 24:07Speaker 5: the Saints game, I thought that in Vegas that career
- 24:11Speaker 5: might be the active as the as the QB two.
- 24:14Speaker 5: And then they did the whole Malie Cunningham thing.
- 24:16Speaker 4: So what was that? Yeah?
- 24:17Speaker 5: Right, who knows? But wait, can we go back to
- 24:19Speaker 5: Trent Brown for a second, because I want to, like,
- 24:21Speaker 5: I don't know if I want to have you clarify what,
- 24:24Speaker 5: because I think Trent Brown is the most misunderstood player
- 24:28Speaker 5: on the team. I think he's the most misunderstood player
- 24:31Speaker 5: that like fans consistently get wrong about his play because
- 24:38Speaker 5: every once in a while, like any player, he has
- 24:41Speaker 5: a bad rep and it kind of his body language stinks,
- 24:45Speaker 5: all right, Like he's he's kind of like just a
- 24:47Speaker 5: loafy guy. He's he's six eight, three eighty pounds, so
- 24:53Speaker 5: sometimes he looks like he's kind of, you know, just
- 24:55Speaker 5: loafing around a little bit, all right. But it's not
- 24:59Speaker 5: even just pff like in all their like metrics and
- 25:02Speaker 5: grades that I think I put out yesterday or the
- 25:04Speaker 5: day before, you know, I've asked people that I trust
- 25:07Speaker 5: about offensive line play about this, and like he's playing
- 25:11Speaker 5: right now, like a top ten left tackle in the NFL.
- 25:14Speaker 5: He's one of the best left tackles in the league
- 25:16Speaker 5: this year. Like I'm not talking about you know, last
- 25:18Speaker 5: year with all the penalties and things like that is different.
- 25:20Speaker 5: This year. He's one of the best left tackles in
- 25:23Speaker 5: the NFL. And I feel like he gets so much
- 25:25Speaker 5: flak for the fact that the way that he carries himself. Yeah,
- 25:29Speaker 5: and it's just like you're not watching.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Let me let me jump in the first people, I
- 25:32Speaker 4: don't really have anything well, and I think people know
- 25:34Speaker 4: how I feel.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Well, No, what I what I was going to say
- 25:36Speaker 1: is I think like I'm in the middle. I've just
- 25:38Speaker 1: do and I hate being in the middle. But I
- 25:39Speaker 1: think like he's a high maintenance player and it's like,
- 25:42Speaker 1: what did you have to do to get him to
- 25:44Speaker 1: this point this year to play at this level and
- 25:46Speaker 1: it tweake his contract a little bit. You know, you
- 25:48Speaker 1: need it.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Don't take the cheese, is all I would say. So
- 25:50Speaker 4: don't take the cheese.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yeah, And I don't know if you guys can think
- 25:52Speaker 1: of players you know offhand that are that are Yes,
- 25:55Speaker 1: they're very, very good, but it's a chore to get
- 25:58Speaker 1: them to that point. Consistently and it's hard to especially
- 26:02Speaker 1: when contract comes up. Now, you know, Like that's what
- 26:04Speaker 1: I wanted to get to. Let's talk about the offseason.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Is you know, he's playing like the best left tackle.
- 26:09Speaker 1: What do you have to do to get that out
- 26:11Speaker 1: of him for not just like next year, but maybe
- 26:13Speaker 1: I don't know, two or three years, like like you know,
- 26:16Speaker 1: you got to give them to me.
- 26:17Speaker 5: That's like, and I don't disagree with either of you,
- 26:19Speaker 5: but I think to me, that's like a separate conversation
- 26:21Speaker 5: from what I'm trying to get across, right, Like, I
- 26:24Speaker 5: totally get to.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Pay him he's playing well now yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Yeah, playing paying him long term for all the reasons
- 26:31Speaker 5: that that I think Paul is kind of suggesting. I
- 26:34Speaker 5: totally agree. Like he's he's the guy that just like
- 26:37Speaker 5: with the Raiders, you know, he got paid and then
- 26:40Speaker 5: he let go of the rope and when he was hurt,
- 26:42Speaker 5: he didn't really play and like you know, it was
- 26:44Speaker 5: just that was that. But I just think that out
- 26:49Speaker 5: of all the people that we could pick on on
- 26:51Speaker 5: a two and five football team, the fact he wouldn't,
- 26:55Speaker 5: the fact that he gets so much crap is just
- 26:57Speaker 5: mind blowing to me.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Like it's lofi.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I wouldn't put him on my list for play this year,
- 27:02Speaker 4: but I would say, you know, like again, he's just
- 27:05Speaker 4: a pain, like, oh it's Friday. Oh I have a
- 27:08Speaker 4: chest injury that I got this way. Oh, I'm gonna
- 27:10Speaker 4: be questionable. I don't know, Trent, we really need you
- 27:12Speaker 4: arm I'll make it. Oh you know ankle, like you
- 27:16Speaker 4: know it's really bothering me or k me, whatever it was.
- 27:19Speaker 4: And then you know, you got to put the other
- 27:21Speaker 4: guy in, who clearly is struggling like crazy. He goes
- 27:24Speaker 4: out there and gets hurt right away, and you gotta
- 27:26Speaker 4: put Trent. Okay, I guess I'll And I'm not telling
- 27:32Speaker 4: you that he stinks. I think that's part of the
- 27:35Speaker 4: frustration that comes with me. I don't think he's one
- 27:38Speaker 4: of the best tackles in the league. Now he might
- 27:40Speaker 4: be playing like that. Now, I leave that to no
- 27:43Speaker 4: disrespect you experts.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I do.
- 27:45Speaker 4: I don't. I don't evaluate every lineman, but I just
- 27:50Speaker 4: don't like the idea of relying on Trent Brown. That's
- 27:54Speaker 4: totally I think he always will let you down, even
- 27:57Speaker 4: like he goes to the Raiders. I think that's the
- 27:58Speaker 4: only time he ever made a probo Yeah, and then
- 28:01Speaker 4: what could he do to them? Like he just completely
- 28:03Speaker 4: mailed it in the next year, Like just when you
- 28:05Speaker 4: think you got them.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, Well, it's he'll let you down. Such
- 28:08Speaker 1: an interesting thing this offseason because you've heard Trent say
- 28:11Speaker 1: in the past like he loves it here, you know,
- 28:13Speaker 1: everything we said. I feel like it's true. It's an
- 28:15Speaker 1: important position. You'd love to be able to say we're
- 28:18Speaker 1: going to bring back a guy who had a great
- 28:19Speaker 1: year and likes being here and is going to you know,
- 28:21Speaker 1: bring a monstrous presence. But you know, I I kind
- 28:24Speaker 1: of go to to Trent Williams, like just that fight
- 28:27Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago before the game, where it's
- 28:29Speaker 1: like he's like the team's enforcer, like he's in the
- 28:32Speaker 1: midst of everything, you know, and it's like it's hard
- 28:34Speaker 1: not to kind of covet that presence at left tackle
- 28:37Speaker 1: where it's just and I know that they're hard to find,
- 28:40Speaker 1: and it's you know, and I'm not saying, oh, this
- 28:41Speaker 1: is why we should draft one in the top five,
- 28:43Speaker 1: but I just feel like, you know, you see what
- 28:45Speaker 1: what what a really engaged, tough, unquestionable good left tackle
- 28:50Speaker 1: can kind of bring.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Yeah, he's not a pillar. Like, he's not somebody that
- 28:53Speaker 5: you're gonna sign to a long term contract and make
- 28:56Speaker 5: a captain and be that sort of left tackle that
- 28:59Speaker 5: you're describing. Like ideally if they did keep him around,
- 29:03Speaker 5: and of course it would have to make sense from
- 29:05Speaker 5: a financial standpoint, like he's your second best tackle, right
- 29:08Speaker 5: and you're drafting a Joe Alt or the kid from
- 29:11Speaker 5: Penn State or something like that, and now he's maybe
- 29:13Speaker 5: flipping back to the right side and he's you know,
- 29:15Speaker 5: kind of it's not all riding on Trent Brown being
- 29:20Speaker 5: Trent Brown. Like right now, their offensive line is basically
- 29:24Speaker 5: riding on the fact that he's going to go out
- 29:26Speaker 5: there and give it his all every single week, because
- 29:28Speaker 5: if he starts letting go of the rope with all
- 29:30Speaker 5: the issues that they have in the other spots, they're
- 29:32Speaker 5: screwed and he gets more, you know, less help, I guess,
- 29:37Speaker 5: is the better way to put it than pretty much
- 29:39Speaker 5: any tackle in the league. He's one on one on
- 29:40Speaker 5: the back side every single play and it's on him
- 29:43Speaker 5: to make the blocks, and he's done a really, really
- 29:46Speaker 5: good job of it. But he's in a contract year.
- 29:49Speaker 5: It's the same as twenty eighteen with him, where he
- 29:52Speaker 5: played great for them then. And I you know, I
- 29:55Speaker 5: think Scar always says about him like Trent's about Trent,
- 29:58Speaker 5: like he's if he wants to be great, he can
- 30:01Speaker 5: be great. If he doesn't want to be great, it's
- 30:03Speaker 5: not gonna look good, you know. And that's the bottom line.
- 30:05Speaker 1: And how many times has he brought up, well, I
- 30:07Speaker 1: get to be free agent?
- 30:07Speaker 6: You know?
- 30:08Speaker 1: That was it seems like that was important to him
- 30:10Speaker 1: with that contract.
- 30:11Speaker 4: And just so you know, I'm not completely heartless, and
- 30:13Speaker 4: I use different, you know, criteria for different players. I'm
- 30:17Speaker 4: often I will defend mac Right and I'll say it's
- 30:21Speaker 4: not fair that you say, like, well, he's not Mahomes,
- 30:23Speaker 4: he's not all and he's not borrowed like you know,
- 30:25Speaker 4: those are the best in the league. Okay, So I
- 30:28Speaker 4: would say the same thing about Trent Brown. Okay, Trent
- 30:30Speaker 4: Williams is an absolutely elite future Hall of Fame left tackle.
- 30:35Speaker 4: So I'm not telling you he's got to be him,
- 30:38Speaker 4: do you know what I mean?
- 30:38Speaker 1: Right? Tough comparison for me.
- 30:41Speaker 4: No, no, And I'm not saying you were comparing him,
- 30:43Speaker 4: but like I get Trent Williams, You know, and you
- 30:47Speaker 4: know that there's others, but like Trent Williams is one
- 30:49Speaker 4: that is on a very high profile team right now.
- 30:52Speaker 4: That's as good as anybody in football. And he does
- 30:54Speaker 4: it as well, if not better than everybody else in
- 30:56Speaker 4: the league. So I'm not saying Trent Brown has.
- 30:58Speaker 6: To be that.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Well, our basketball guys, quick email just Patrick and outawis
- 31:02Speaker 1: is what do we got? Brown both have terrible body language.
- 31:06Speaker 1: He equals Embiid.
- 31:11Speaker 5: I think Embeid I would learnt.
- 31:12Speaker 4: I was gonna say, I would like Trent Brown a
- 31:14Speaker 4: lot more. Yeah, if he was like equal to Embiid. Yeah,
- 31:18Speaker 4: all right, Well, I feel like we've sufficiently Suddenly. Anthony
- 31:21Speaker 4: Munos is playing a left tackle for us.
- 31:23Speaker 1: I love him. We stuck the table pull. Fred likes
- 31:25Speaker 1: to say, let's let's jump over the phones because we've
- 31:27Speaker 1: got some people hanging on here.
- 31:29Speaker 4: We're going a little early. Fred usually likes the way
- 31:31Speaker 4: Tilly five forty five. Yeah, I'm just saying, oh man,
- 31:34Speaker 4: just saying I don't have enough to bring to the table.
- 31:36Speaker 1: All right, well, Fred, Fred's food will be here soon though.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Good Patty.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Waited too.
- 31:46Speaker 1: All right, we'll blast through these real quick, hey, Matthew
- 31:48Speaker 1: and New Mexico. Hey Matthew, Hey, guys.
- 31:51Speaker 8: How's it going. So we've seen the Dolphins buying their
- 31:56Speaker 8: pretty beat up and Christian Bomber and then have been
- 31:59Speaker 8: playing pretty good. And it seems like when they're on
- 32:02Speaker 8: the road that's when like they get but I don't
- 32:05Speaker 8: know if it's like their quick counts or whatever, but
- 32:07Speaker 8: they's like tu of gets like all off his rhythm.
- 32:10Speaker 8: But do you guys think that we can uh really
- 32:14Speaker 8: do some damage to the line? And what is like
- 32:17Speaker 8: how many points does the offense have to score do
- 32:19Speaker 8: you think for us to win? And just one more thing.
- 32:22Speaker 8: I don't know if Evan's there. Yeah, but like we
- 32:25Speaker 8: saw like so much motion last against the Bills, and
- 32:29Speaker 8: like I guess explain to me, like I'm five, Like
- 32:31Speaker 8: why haven't we seen that in the past Kansas personnel
- 32:34Speaker 8: to Pops been hurt or is it just you know,
- 32:37Speaker 8: let's just see what works. What do you guys think?
- 32:40Speaker 1: Thanks Matthew, right start with that.
- 32:44Speaker 4: You can do your motion stuff, your emotion stuff.
- 32:46Speaker 5: So actually, you know, I had I looked this up
- 32:49Speaker 5: because I thought the same thing from the eye test
- 32:53Speaker 5: about the motion and you know, next gen says that
- 32:56Speaker 5: their motion is has increased by about twenty percent over
- 32:59Speaker 5: the last two weeks compared to the first five games
- 33:02Speaker 5: of the season. Their their motion at the snap is
- 33:06Speaker 5: about the same, but they're they're shifting more plus motioning
- 33:09Speaker 5: a little bit more, so that that number gets to
- 33:11Speaker 5: that point. I think it's two things. One, I don't
- 33:14Speaker 5: necessarily know if they are motioning more or if they're
- 33:18Speaker 5: just motioning better, if that makes sense. And like, I
- 33:21Speaker 5: think that speaks to using the right guys in motion.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Like now instead of Juju going in motion, it's Pop
- 33:28Speaker 5: Douglas going in motion, or it's Kendrick Bourne going in
- 33:31Speaker 5: motion or Taekwon, like you know, they're faster receivers, and
- 33:35Speaker 5: I think it's just been more impactful and some of
- 33:37Speaker 5: the you know motions early on in the year, you know,
- 33:40Speaker 5: when they were running those like three tight end sets,
- 33:43Speaker 5: it's Mike Gasicki going in motion and it's like no
- 33:47Speaker 5: defense to Mike Gasicki. But that doesn't have the same
- 33:50Speaker 5: impact on the defense as a four to four guy
- 33:53Speaker 5: like Pop Douglas does when he's coming across the field.
- 33:56Speaker 5: So I think that that's a big part of it
- 33:58Speaker 5: is that I don't know if they've necessarily really done
- 34:01Speaker 5: it at a significantly higher rate more than they have
- 34:04Speaker 5: figured out they've mastered it a little bit more. They're
- 34:07Speaker 5: just better at it, and maybe they were a couple
- 34:09Speaker 5: of weeks ago. I also think, you know, in that
- 34:11Speaker 5: game last week, it helps when you can keep doing
- 34:14Speaker 5: that kind of stuff because you're not down by twenty
- 34:17Speaker 5: points at halftime, right, So like when you're in the
- 34:20Speaker 5: game still all that game plan stuff and all those
- 34:24Speaker 5: wrinkles and the Bill O'Brien stuff, can you can keep
- 34:27Speaker 5: doing it because you're not The game's not, you know,
- 34:29Speaker 5: running away from you.
- 34:30Speaker 4: That isn't like an underrated part of it. Like when
- 34:32Speaker 4: you were down in the second half by multiple scores.
- 34:35Speaker 4: You can't be snapping the ball with like one second
- 34:37Speaker 4: on the play clock every play. You gotta get you
- 34:40Speaker 4: gotta get some rhythms. So that's if you're gonna do
- 34:42Speaker 4: all that motion and shit, you know, pre snap movement
- 34:45Speaker 4: that takes time, And if you're chasing two scores, that's
- 34:48Speaker 4: when you get the seventeen play drive that everybody's upset about,
- 34:51Speaker 4: you know, which would have been fine if you were
- 34:54Speaker 4: down four and you took seventeen plays to score and
- 34:57Speaker 4: you go ahead, do you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 34:59Speaker 4: Like some of the that stuff I think is also
- 35:01Speaker 4: game script under yeah, underrated.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I just think that's a context point that continually comes
- 35:06Speaker 1: up on this show, and I think you always do
- 35:07Speaker 1: a good job, Paul of reminding us of it. But
- 35:09Speaker 1: like how much of we want to extract from a game?
- 35:12Speaker 1: But there was a big lead, you know, and it
- 35:14Speaker 1: just totally changes the complexion of the game, what teams
- 35:17Speaker 1: can do, what's on the table, what isn't you know,
- 35:20Speaker 1: like by the same token, and thinking about Miami this week,
- 35:23Speaker 1: it's it's just hard to stop them when they get
- 35:26Speaker 1: a lead and everything's working and everything's on the table,
- 35:28Speaker 1: and it kind of snowballs on you. But you know,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I think you do a good job of you know,
- 35:32Speaker 1: you come out with these stats and it's like, well, yeah,
- 35:34Speaker 1: they had to throw the ball a lot or for
- 35:36Speaker 1: whatever reason, like because they're no like thirty points. Yeah,
- 35:38Speaker 1: like those kind of things.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Bill, Bill Belichick and Bill O'Brien didn't want Mac Jones
- 35:42Speaker 4: throwing the ball fifty times and like the opener, Yeah,
- 35:45Speaker 4: but whatever, I think he threw it fifty times. It
- 35:46Speaker 4: gets go out.
- 35:47Speaker 5: He had the most pass attempts in the league through
- 35:49Speaker 5: two for a while.
- 35:49Speaker 4: I think he's still like fifth. Yeah, So they don't
- 35:53Speaker 4: want to do that, and that's why the games that
- 35:55Speaker 4: they won, I think they threw like twenty nine and
- 35:57Speaker 4: thirty passes. That's what that's what they want balance, you know,
- 36:00Speaker 4: and you know, Evan will tell you. And I don't
- 36:02Speaker 4: have the numbers in front of me, but I'm sure
- 36:04Speaker 4: Evan does. Like the pressure rate per pass was probably
- 36:10Speaker 4: better on Sunday, but probably still kind of high, you know.
- 36:14Speaker 4: And I don't have the number in front of me,
- 36:16Speaker 4: but it seemed like if they threw the ball forty
- 36:19Speaker 4: forty five times, they probably would have been sacked four times.
- 36:23Speaker 4: And to my you know, in my in my mind,
- 36:25Speaker 4: eventually epiness is getting there instead of being half a
- 36:29Speaker 4: step slow on the on the backside on that on
- 36:31Speaker 4: that play to Hunter Henry as an example. The other
- 36:34Speaker 4: thing that the caller asked about was Miami's offensive line.
- 36:38Speaker 4: We should add Isaiah Win was also placed on injury
- 36:42Speaker 4: reserve yesterday, So that makes toront Omsteed left tackle and
- 36:46Speaker 4: Win left guard.
- 36:47Speaker 5: They're both out and the.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Starting center is Connor Williams. Right, Yeah, he missed the
- 36:52Speaker 4: last two games.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Yeah, it's gonna be Eichenberg again.
- 36:55Speaker 4: So he's not playing definite, I'm pretty sure. So yeah,
- 36:59Speaker 4: that's it. I think that's an area that you can exploit.
- 37:01Speaker 4: Although Eikenberg at center hasn't been a disaster, he was
- 37:04Speaker 4: a disappointment earlier in his Dolphins career.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Drafted him to play tackle right, and he hasn't really
- 37:10Speaker 5: been able to do that. But I think what it
- 37:13Speaker 5: comes down to at this Miami game, and I'm gonna
- 37:15Speaker 5: you know right about this in game plan is just
- 37:18Speaker 5: the Eagles were able to disrupt the timing of the
- 37:21Speaker 5: Dolphins offense. And I think a lot of people watch
- 37:24Speaker 5: that game and just put it all on the pass
- 37:26Speaker 5: rush and say, oh, well, the Eagles have a great
- 37:28Speaker 5: front and they just got after Tua. But I think
- 37:30Speaker 5: the bigger thing was is that they disrupted the receivers
- 37:33Speaker 5: on the outside. Tua is a rhythm based thrower. Like
- 37:36Speaker 5: he when he's in rhythm, he's as good as anybody.
- 37:39Speaker 5: If you can throw off the timing of the entire
- 37:42Speaker 5: passing game, it can really, you know, affect his efficiency.
- 37:48Speaker 5: And I think the biggest thing was, you know, those
- 37:51Speaker 5: quick throws underneath the defense. Because the Patriots are playing
- 37:54Speaker 5: all this soft zone coverage and they were eight yards
- 37:57Speaker 5: off the line of scrimmage on every play, We're gaining
- 37:59Speaker 5: like hind yards of pop. Whereas against the Eagles, they
- 38:03Speaker 5: were jamming the receivers at the line, and they were
- 38:05Speaker 5: playing the two deep safeties behind it to protect them
- 38:08Speaker 5: against the deep balls. But they had there was the
- 38:10Speaker 5: corners up on the line of scrimmage jamming Tyreek Hill
- 38:13Speaker 5: and Jalen Waddle and disrupting the timing. And now those
- 38:17Speaker 5: short throws become later in the down, and now you know,
- 38:20Speaker 5: you rally to the football and you make tackles. And
- 38:24Speaker 5: I think that was the biggest difference that I watched
- 38:26Speaker 5: of that game was the Patriots didn't even give their
- 38:30Speaker 5: front a chance three high, right, Yeah, they didn't even
- 38:33Speaker 5: give them a chance to get after the quarterback. In
- 38:35Speaker 5: Week two, the Eagles, they got up into everybody's face.
- 38:39Speaker 5: They challenged them at the line of scrimmage and they
- 38:42Speaker 5: made to hold the ball, and that's how they were
- 38:44Speaker 5: able to get after him a little bit.
- 38:45Speaker 4: I also thought they did a great job of completely
- 38:48Speaker 4: taking the run away like that wasn't there was like
- 38:51Speaker 4: one drive in the third quarter where Most seemed to
- 38:54Speaker 4: get it going a little bit, But for the most
- 38:56Speaker 4: part in the first half, I think he had negative
- 38:58Speaker 4: yardage and in particular on the edge, was really disruptive
- 39:03Speaker 4: with his penetration. So I think, you know, back to
- 39:07Speaker 4: our guy Anthony Jennings, you know him and Wise, I
- 39:10Speaker 4: think have been pretty good, you know, edge setting in
- 39:14Speaker 4: recent weeks. Their run defense, I think they're number one
- 39:18Speaker 4: in the league, the Patriots in yards per carry allowed.
- 39:22Speaker 4: I think that if they lead the league. So I
- 39:24Speaker 4: think that was a problem in the first game. It
- 39:26Speaker 4: wasn't It wasn't the problem, but Most ended up with
- 39:29Speaker 4: like one hundred and twenty some odd yards and had
- 39:32Speaker 4: the forty three yard touchdown that kind of put the
- 39:34Speaker 4: game away in the fourth quarter. They can't allow that. Yeah,
- 39:37Speaker 4: make him one dimensional?
- 39:39Speaker 1: He was really he wasn't productive against the Bills in
- 39:41Speaker 1: that in that loss either. I just I guess a
- 39:43Speaker 1: question I have and I haven't really I don't have
- 39:44Speaker 1: an opinion. I haven't really researched. It is just, you know,
- 39:46Speaker 1: is Miami able to run when it's not scheme out,
- 39:50Speaker 1: like when it's not friendly and they're leading, and it's
- 39:52Speaker 1: a light box. And you know what I mean, like
- 39:53Speaker 1: when they have to run in the.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Up against No, Like, I wouldn't like Miami's chances protecting
- 39:58Speaker 4: a four point lead in the four mint of offense.
- 40:00Speaker 4: I don't think that's the way they are built.
- 40:03Speaker 5: They would just make it an eleven pointment.
- 40:05Speaker 4: No, what I'm saying, like, we need three first downs.
- 40:08Speaker 4: We want to run the ball three times, and you
- 40:09Speaker 4: get three first downs. And this game with a kneel down.
- 40:12Speaker 4: That's not their that's not their style.
- 40:14Speaker 5: So they they have gained significantly more yards before contact
- 40:21Speaker 5: than any other offense in the league in the running
- 40:23Speaker 5: game because they play so many light boxes because everybody's
- 40:27Speaker 5: terrified of the speed on the outside, so they play
- 40:29Speaker 5: all these light boxes and they do a good job schematically.
- 40:34Speaker 5: You know, Mike McDaniels is really his roots are as
- 40:37Speaker 5: a run game coordinator, and he does a great job.
- 40:40Speaker 5: I mean, their their schemes in the run game are
- 40:42Speaker 5: as exotic and creative as anybody's. And so he creates,
- 40:46Speaker 5: you know, really advantageous blocking situations with motion and angles
- 40:50Speaker 5: and things like that. And you know, like was it
- 40:54Speaker 5: at g end Right the rookie who's not going to
- 40:56Speaker 5: play in this game.
- 40:57Speaker 4: He that which is over twelve yards again, yeah, and
- 41:00Speaker 4: he has like forty carries.
- 41:01Speaker 5: Yeah, and he and it's all yards before contact, not
- 41:06Speaker 5: because it's like all manufactured for him, but because nobody
- 41:10Speaker 5: is contacting him through the line of scrimmage. And then
- 41:13Speaker 5: he's got four to three speeds. So once he gets
- 41:14Speaker 5: into the secondary, he's just gone yea. And so they don't,
- 41:18Speaker 5: you know, most are it's similar Like most, it's not
- 41:20Speaker 5: as fast. I don't think he's as explosive anymore, you know,
- 41:23Speaker 5: wear and tear and things like that. But it's just
- 41:26Speaker 5: that was a key part of the game early for
- 41:28Speaker 5: the Eagles was that they were able to stop the
- 41:31Speaker 5: run out of two high shells. If you've got to
- 41:34Speaker 5: be able to stop the run against this team out
- 41:36Speaker 5: of a light box because you can't put the extra
- 41:38Speaker 5: guys in the box.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Do you think we'll see more of the Patriots what
- 41:40Speaker 1: they busted out week two with the three high safeties
- 41:43Speaker 1: or do you think now you have Jonathan Jones back,
- 41:45Speaker 1: didn't have him week two. Do you think to your point, Evan,
- 41:48Speaker 1: you put JC and him down on the line, you
- 41:50Speaker 1: try to jam and then you put, you know, just
- 41:51Speaker 1: two safeties back over them, and you know, maybe try
- 41:54Speaker 1: to muddle the middle of the field a little bit.
- 41:56Speaker 1: You don't know who's gonna come or who's gonna drop out.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Might that be something?
- 42:00Speaker 5: And you can see that's what the Eagles did. I mean,
- 42:02Speaker 5: the Eagles got up on these guys faces. They jammed
- 42:05Speaker 5: him at the line of scrimmage. They didn't play a
- 42:07Speaker 5: ton of man coverage. It was it was like almost
- 42:10Speaker 5: all zone. But when they played man, they played played
- 42:12Speaker 5: a lot of two man coverage, which allows the defenders
- 42:16Speaker 5: to play inside leverage on the receivers. So that the
- 42:20Speaker 5: two things that Tua loves to do. Obviously throw in rhythm,
- 42:23Speaker 5: but he throws more inbreaking routes than just about any
- 42:26Speaker 5: quarterback in the league. Right he wants to throw post crossers,
- 42:30Speaker 5: slants like that's his bread and butter. So what the
- 42:33Speaker 5: Eagles did was they put their corners inside shade on
- 42:36Speaker 5: the receivers and cut off the middle of the field
- 42:39Speaker 5: and said, if you're gonna beat us, you're gonna beat
- 42:41Speaker 5: us out outside. And then they put the safety over
- 42:45Speaker 5: the top. So basically all they were giving him were
- 42:48Speaker 5: like outbreaking routes into the sideline and like, if that's
- 42:51Speaker 5: how you want to win, then like go ahead, you know,
- 42:54Speaker 5: like you know, tip your cap if you're able to
- 42:56Speaker 5: hit those passes.
- 42:57Speaker 4: In I'd be shocked they did the first meeting, and
- 43:01Speaker 4: not because of personnel, because I think in some ways
- 43:03Speaker 4: personnel is weaker this one because you lose Gonzales. Yeah,
- 43:08Speaker 4: but I just can't imagine that they would give the
- 43:12Speaker 4: same look when it wasn't. That's not generally what they do,
- 43:16Speaker 4: Like they're gonna, they're gonna, Yeah, they're gonna do things
- 43:18Speaker 4: differently from from one match up to the next. But
- 43:21Speaker 4: in particular the way that I think Tua showed them
- 43:25Speaker 4: that he didn't have to go to hill and didn't
- 43:29Speaker 4: have to rely on on you know, big big shot
- 43:32Speaker 4: plays too to really have an effective night.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Now we'll people watching for Waddle today on the injury report.
- 43:38Speaker 4: He's scene.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I was gonna mention Trump Brown too. I mean, he
- 43:40Speaker 1: will see if he's out there today, he could be
- 43:42Speaker 1: another one that that you know, might be dealing with something,
- 43:45Speaker 1: so that could complicate it.
- 43:46Speaker 5: I mean that was a big part of that game.
- 43:47Speaker 5: In week two is you had Vederian Lowe and Calvin
- 43:50Speaker 5: Anderson as you're starting tackles and they just were turnstiles
- 43:54Speaker 5: and every time the Patriots tried to drop back pass,
- 43:57Speaker 5: they they couldn't because Mac was undersea because of the tackles.
- 44:01Speaker 5: So if they can get the same offensive line out
- 44:03Speaker 5: there that they had last week, then maybe they'll be
- 44:06Speaker 5: a little bit better. They their longest pass completion against
- 44:10Speaker 5: Miami in week two is fourteen yards. It was like
- 44:13Speaker 5: they they had their longest play from scrimmage was an
- 44:15Speaker 5: eighteen yard scramble by Mac Jones. They had zero plays
- 44:18Speaker 5: over twenty yards against Miami in week two. Like that,
- 44:21Speaker 5: that's not a winning formula.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Looked like lamar out there. Let's jump back to the
- 44:25Speaker 1: phones here. Todd in North Carolina, Haye.
- 44:27Speaker 9: Todd, Hey, guys, that's a very long time player or
- 44:31Speaker 9: I wish as a follower since like nineteen seventy three
- 44:35Speaker 9: when we first got the games up in Canada. I
- 44:39Speaker 9: felt really really disappointed at the start of this year.
- 44:41Speaker 9: I was really just kind of choked up, unhappy and
- 44:44Speaker 9: looking for something. Now that we kind of have something,
- 44:49Speaker 9: I really want to know, is there any hope of
- 44:51Speaker 9: getting some help for the defense, Like, is there any
- 44:53Speaker 9: cats that Gonzo can come back or Juda.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Or is that that season Judon could Gonzo can't.
- 45:00Speaker 1: It has already been like on the sidelines and stuff.
- 45:01Speaker 9: So I don't know's I would like mm I would
- 45:05Speaker 9: like him to do actually at this trade deadline, because
- 45:08Speaker 9: I actually get the defense and help. I want to see.
- 45:10Speaker 9: I'm not saying make the playoffs.
- 45:11Speaker 10: I just want to.
- 45:12Speaker 9: See what they can do. What can they make happen
- 45:15Speaker 9: with this what they've got. Yeah, I know it's not
- 45:17Speaker 9: the best, but I really I don't want them to
- 45:19Speaker 9: throw games. I want to see, like, come on, Bill,
- 45:21Speaker 9: show us what you got. Come on, guys, let's see
- 45:23Speaker 9: what you can do.
- 45:23Speaker 1: What would you add to like what kind of what
- 45:26Speaker 1: position would you the corner?
- 45:27Speaker 9: I think we need a corner corner depth.
- 45:31Speaker 4: And I don't know what he did just acquire one
- 45:34Speaker 4: like two weeks ago, I mean.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Been pretty good, not great, pretty good.
- 45:39Speaker 4: I mean they did they did trade for J. C. Jackson.
- 45:43Speaker 1: But I want.
- 45:44Speaker 9: Speed and capability because I.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Don't a lot of those will be available, I would imagine.
- 45:49Speaker 5: Don't don't.
- 45:51Speaker 4: I just I don't understand, Like I just don't understand.
- 45:54Speaker 4: I don't. I you're two and five and you want
- 45:57Speaker 4: to add to the defense.
- 46:00Speaker 9: Yeah, well, I think the offense is kind of said,
- 46:03Speaker 9: let's see.
- 46:03Speaker 4: What the offense is set. Yeah, okay, I think most
- 46:07Speaker 4: people would disagree with that. I think most people would
- 46:10Speaker 4: say that was the first time in two and a
- 46:13Speaker 4: half years that the offense looked like a legitimate offense. Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 46:20Speaker 8: What would you do.
- 46:22Speaker 4: I wouldn't do anything. We're two and five. I wouldn't
- 46:25Speaker 4: trade anybody, and I wouldn't acquire anybody. I would just
- 46:29Speaker 4: I would just continue to work the way we've been
- 46:31Speaker 4: talking about with some of the younger guys or some
- 46:34Speaker 4: not even younger guys in some cases less experienced guys.
- 46:38Speaker 4: But Evan's been banging the drum for Mapu. I totally
- 46:42Speaker 4: agree with them, Like, get them on the field and
- 46:45Speaker 4: get them some experience so these guys can grow together.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Like to Mario Douglas, to me, was a guy who
- 46:50Speaker 4: looked like he was making some mental errors earlier in
- 46:53Speaker 4: the year. Let him play through the mental errors and
- 46:56Speaker 4: see if they go away or if they continue, then
- 46:58Speaker 4: he's not a player. And you find that out. But
- 47:01Speaker 4: you can't find that out from the sideline.
- 47:03Speaker 5: I'm with you, So one hundred and ten percent about
- 47:06Speaker 5: just staying pat like let's just keep the team together
- 47:08Speaker 5: that they have play the season out. And I think
- 47:11Speaker 5: that that's, you know, the big thing yesterday. You know,
- 47:16Speaker 5: I was excited that they want a game. Okay, I'm
- 47:18Speaker 5: gonna be honest with you. I was excited that they want.
- 47:19Speaker 4: To but I am too, And let me just I know,
- 47:23Speaker 4: I'm rude. Sometimes if you keep winning, yeah, it's going
- 47:28Speaker 4: to prove that you didn't need to do that, right, Like,
- 47:30Speaker 4: you have the players that are getting better, Like that's
- 47:34Speaker 4: what the goal should be. If you fall short, then okay,
- 47:37Speaker 4: you you can have the off season where you have
- 47:40Speaker 4: your draft and you have a lot of money to
- 47:43Speaker 4: spend and you can fill in some gaps that you
- 47:45Speaker 4: feel like you might have, Like I mean, no, no,
- 47:48Speaker 4: I just I get a little frustrated with the you know,
- 47:51Speaker 4: we're one and five, and who are we going to trade?
- 47:53Speaker 4: And we're two and five and who are going to get?
- 47:55Speaker 5: Like well, that's my point where you know, yes, I
- 47:58Speaker 5: think we're all excited that they way they looked against
- 48:00Speaker 5: the Bills, they won a game that they never win,
- 48:03Speaker 5: at least in this era of the page.
- 48:05Speaker 4: It was the most enjoyable game that we've had in
- 48:07Speaker 4: a long.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Run, right, And that's great. But I think what you
- 48:09Speaker 5: have to recognize, and I'm talking to myself a little
- 48:12Speaker 5: bit here too, is that you have to like, you know,
- 48:14Speaker 5: we got to look at the whole body of work.
- 48:16Speaker 5: And I don't mean just like at the beginning of
- 48:18Speaker 5: the season. I also mean, like, let's just play this
- 48:20Speaker 5: out and see where we're at in January, and let's
- 48:24Speaker 5: get some answers about some of these guys. Like to
- 48:26Speaker 5: Paul's point earlier, I think that they have enough offensively
- 48:30Speaker 5: that we can determine whether or not it's worth building
- 48:32Speaker 5: around mac Jones or not by the end of this year,
- 48:35Speaker 5: especially with Bill O'Brien starting to figure some things out
- 48:38Speaker 5: and cooking it up, Like let's see what it looks
- 48:40Speaker 5: like in week seventeen, week eighteen and how we feel
- 48:43Speaker 5: about it, and then look and then make.
- 48:46Speaker 4: Any difference, right, you know, maybe that was an example,
- 48:49Speaker 4: I mean evidence that they this set, yeah, like or
- 48:54Speaker 4: have been talked about.
- 48:54Speaker 5: A few pieces or there's just a few pieces away,
- 48:57Speaker 5: you know, like maybe like maybe instead of looking at
- 49:00Speaker 5: had a quarterback in the in the first round, they're
- 49:01Speaker 5: looking at a tackle or a receiver or something like that.
- 49:04Speaker 5: But I think what you have to do, you know,
- 49:06Speaker 5: we ride the wave, and like we have to do
- 49:08Speaker 5: a show today, and like you know yesterday, and the
- 49:11Speaker 5: topic yesterday was the coming off a win, and that's positive,
- 49:14Speaker 5: but in general, it's gonna be until unfortunately January, until
- 49:18Speaker 5: you make these like big picture decisions of the direction
- 49:22Speaker 5: of the roster and the team and head coach included.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and you got to really need to win four
- 49:27Speaker 4: games in a row. Yeah, like you need to get
- 49:29Speaker 4: to five or five, like, and then if you do that,
- 49:33Speaker 4: it's in play then you can possibly talk about getting
- 49:36Speaker 4: in playoff position. Yep, let's let's go play.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Let's just grab Eldred here before we take a quick break. Haildred,
- 49:45Speaker 1: there is.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Great good street.
- 49:52Speaker 5: But what Evan and Paul was talking about.
- 49:55Speaker 9: But I still say you need a numbre receiver, I
- 49:57Speaker 9: will always be dead drum.
- 49:59Speaker 5: But I got one question.
- 50:01Speaker 10: Okay, I know everybody think a mirror.
- 50:04Speaker 11: Speed would just use the rookie and then he didn't
- 50:07Speaker 11: do that much or whatever.
- 50:08Speaker 10: But with that size and that speed, I know you
- 50:12Speaker 10: had to make a roster move, but you.
- 50:14Speaker 7: Couldn't put him on the practice squad or whatever.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Somebody grabbed him, right, I don't know what.
- 50:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they couldn't get him on the practice squad because
- 50:21Speaker 4: because someone claimed him. Ye I think the Colts, right, yep,
- 50:24Speaker 4: oh Speed. Yeah, it didn't clear waivers, he didn't clear waivers.
- 50:28Speaker 12: He didn't clear waivers.
- 50:30Speaker 4: He got he got claimed.
- 50:32Speaker 11: You got a young you got a young young guy,
- 50:34Speaker 11: got your speed.
- 50:35Speaker 10: Got the size needs a little worse.
- 50:37Speaker 8: But NIX.
- 50:38Speaker 10: Sure, you never know what you might have.
- 50:39Speaker 4: But Eldred, I don't think you're gonna worry about that one.
- 50:42Speaker 4: I think the other kid who's on I R that
- 50:44Speaker 4: was a similar kind of size and skill set. I
- 50:47Speaker 4: think he showed the ability to do some covering. Yes,
- 50:50Speaker 4: in training camp. Speed didn't really speed never really played speed,
- 50:56Speaker 4: never really played cornerback. In college, he was just he
- 50:59Speaker 4: was a cornerback by position, but he was basically a
- 51:02Speaker 4: special team.
- 51:02Speaker 5: He was Matthew Slater in college.
- 51:04Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Bolden, I think there could be something
- 51:10Speaker 4: there with him. Yeah, I find it, like what I'm
- 51:13Speaker 4: interested to see what the Colts are using a mere
- 51:16Speaker 4: Speed for, Like what, like why claim him for a
- 51:19Speaker 4: special team spot? I suppose, But we'll see him in Germany,
- 51:22Speaker 4: and I guess we'll see what kind of game day
- 51:24Speaker 4: role he had. And it's funny we did lose a
- 51:26Speaker 4: guy that I would have probably said similar to I
- 51:28Speaker 4: think Kenny Moore. Yeah with loss, you know, and he
- 51:32Speaker 4: turned he's a player still, but he had a good
- 51:35Speaker 4: Like he's had a good career with the Colts.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Was it like Jonathan Jones beat him out? Like it
- 51:39Speaker 1: was almost like, you know, it was somebody it was.
- 51:43Speaker 5: I think that they were both. I feel like they
- 51:45Speaker 5: were both on the team at the same time. I
- 51:47Speaker 5: don't know if they were both rookies at the same time,
- 51:49Speaker 5: but I feel like they.
- 51:50Speaker 4: Over a couple of traffic. Like like I know, a
- 51:52Speaker 4: lot of people look at like why he didn't make it?
- 51:55Speaker 4: You look at Gruge Hill.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Hill, what's he got away as a fan for?
- 52:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what, fine, great, He's.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Always just been a backup line.
- 52:04Speaker 4: He's had a good career, you know, like he has
- 52:07Speaker 4: made and I'm sure he would have had that good
- 52:09Speaker 4: career had he stayed and been a special teamer and
- 52:12Speaker 4: done all that stuff. Kenny Moore has been a part
- 52:16Speaker 4: of the cult secondary for five years. Impact player, you know,
- 52:20Speaker 4: so I do think there's a difference between those guys kinds.
- 52:22Speaker 5: Of Kenny Moore was a twenty seventeen UDFA, so he
- 52:26Speaker 5: definitely would have been here with John Judge.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I think Joe Jones was twenty sixteen.
- 52:30Speaker 5: Yeah, so John Jones was probably here already, and then
- 52:34Speaker 5: Kenny Moore was you know, bol slot guys.
- 52:36Speaker 1: And he just lost the numbers. Let's just grab this
- 52:39Speaker 1: one more, Nick down in Charlotte before we take a break,
- 52:41Speaker 1: King Nick, Nick, Nick, are you there?
- 52:48Speaker 6: Gotcha? There?
- 52:49Speaker 4: You are?
- 52:50Speaker 10: Sorry? Sorry, I'm from Atlte in Australia, so it's probably
- 52:53Speaker 10: a been a bad connection.
- 52:54Speaker 1: That's all right.
- 52:55Speaker 6: What's up?
- 52:56Speaker 10: I'm just ringing first on long time, just letting you
- 52:59Speaker 10: guys know how much I appreciate you guys. And Pull
- 53:02Speaker 10: my favorite by far. I don't know if he's touched
- 53:04Speaker 10: up in Evan. What's the game plan going to be
- 53:07Speaker 10: so this weekend? Offensively A they're going to bring pok
- 53:10Speaker 10: It back. I don't know if you guys have touched
- 53:13Speaker 10: on that yet. I just wanted to know.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll get into it, thanks Nick.
- 53:16Speaker 5: Yeah, offensive game plan. I find it interesting, like whenever
- 53:21Speaker 5: you have two guys like Fangio and and O'Brien Vic Fangio,
- 53:25Speaker 5: the Dolphins defensive coordinator. They've both been doing this for
- 53:29Speaker 5: so long on their sides of the ball that the
- 53:31Speaker 5: it's not really like a surprise and who's going.
- 53:33Speaker 1: To do what.
- 53:35Speaker 5: But Fangio and Week two actually did some different things
- 53:37Speaker 5: against the Patriots, especially upfront, and O'Brien actually said as
- 53:42Speaker 5: much in his press conference after on Tuesday. He said,
- 53:46Speaker 5: you know, they did some things that surprised us in
- 53:48Speaker 5: the front mechanics, you know, the defensive line, a lot
- 53:50Speaker 5: of slanting and run blitzing and things like that that
- 53:52Speaker 5: they weren't expecting. So that's the chess matches, like, you know,
- 53:56Speaker 5: they're going to have to feel it out a little bit,
- 53:58Speaker 5: I think in the first quarter of how exactly the
- 54:00Speaker 5: Dolphins are gonna declare this game and then and then
- 54:03Speaker 5: go from there. But the Fangio system, you know, they're
- 54:07Speaker 5: split safety defense, and this is what every defense in
- 54:10Speaker 5: the NFL is starting to play more and more of,
- 54:12Speaker 5: including the Patriots, who are playing man coverage at like
- 54:15Speaker 5: the lowest rate they have in like five years. You know,
- 54:18Speaker 5: everything is split safety zone. Don't give up the explosives,
- 54:21Speaker 5: you know, fast receivers great quarterbacks, Like, we just don't
- 54:24Speaker 5: want to give up big plays. And the Dolphins are
- 54:27Speaker 5: the same way that they're They're gonna keep the top
- 54:29Speaker 5: on the defense and they're gonna make you check it
- 54:32Speaker 5: down and go go the long way home and all
- 54:34Speaker 5: that sort of stuff.
- 54:35Speaker 4: And that could be another huge edge. Both cornerbacks did
- 54:39Speaker 4: not play against the Eagles for Miami, Xavian Howard and
- 54:42Speaker 4: Jalen Ramsey still working his way back. He has started practicing.
- 54:47Speaker 4: If both of those guys are back, and that knocks
- 54:49Speaker 4: guys like Eli Apple and uh, what's the guy k
- 54:53Speaker 4: who co who? Yeah, if they become like your your
- 54:58Speaker 4: fourth corner instead, like then I think you could maybe do.
- 55:02Speaker 4: If you're Vic Fangio, you might feel in Bolden because
- 55:04Speaker 4: I do think they have good safeties.
- 55:06Speaker 5: But the corner is Javon Holland is fantastic. Yeah, he
- 55:09Speaker 5: might be the best safety in the league.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Uh in uh it is it Kaiser. Deshaun Kaiser has
- 55:14Speaker 4: been playing, which knocks out Brandon. Brandon Jones been a
- 55:16Speaker 4: guy who had said some good games against the Patriots.
- 55:19Speaker 4: He's basically not really even a big part of the
- 55:21Speaker 4: secondary anymore. I wonder if he never really came back
- 55:24Speaker 4: from the injuries that he's had. But that's a secondary
- 55:27Speaker 4: that when full full strength, can be a weapon for them,
- 55:31Speaker 4: and they haven't really had that.
- 55:32Speaker 5: They have star power on that side of the ball,
- 55:34Speaker 5: like you know.
- 55:35Speaker 4: And I know Ramsey's not what he once was, but
- 55:36Speaker 4: he's still pretty good.
- 55:37Speaker 5: But you know, talk about name brands, you know, guys
- 55:39Speaker 5: like Bradley Chubb, Christian Wilkins, Jalen Phillips, like those are
- 55:43Speaker 5: all guys that people know. It's this is not a
- 55:45Speaker 5: defense of you know, who's that guy? Who's this guy?
- 55:48Speaker 5: For the most part, so it hasn't really worked yet.
- 55:52Speaker 5: You're twenty fourth in DVA. They're they're like down near
- 55:55Speaker 5: the bottom of the league in scoring. They've given up
- 55:57Speaker 5: like twenty seven points a game. Their best game was
- 55:59Speaker 5: against Patriots bye by far defensively, but it's a tough system,
- 56:04Speaker 5: especially to read out for quarterbacks.
- 56:06Speaker 1: All right, Well, Paul and Evans Sandwiches are here, so
- 56:09Speaker 1: we're gonna take a quick break. Plenty of good emails though,

- 57:37Speaker 6: And guys, these are for any of the past how

- 57:55Speaker 13: They're cool limited edition stuff. All right, let's get into them.
- 57:59Speaker 13: Question one, how many touchdown passes did Tom Brady throw
- 58:04Speaker 13: to a player wearing the number eighty eight?
- 58:07Speaker 6: All right?
- 58:07Speaker 13: And there's a bonus in this, so you're gonna get
- 58:09Speaker 13: a poster and an unfiltered T shirt for this one bonus?
- 58:13Speaker 13: Can you name the players that we're wearing a number
- 58:15Speaker 13: eighty eight?
- 58:16Speaker 6: All right? That's the bonus.
- 58:17Speaker 13: Question Question two? How many Super Bowl catches, yards and
- 58:23Speaker 13: touchdowns does Deon Branch have?
- 58:25Speaker 12: Right?
- 58:26Speaker 13: And Question three who was the first player to catch
- 58:29Speaker 13: an NFL pass from Tom Brady.
- 58:31Speaker 6: All right, that was a little bit before before my fandom,
- 58:34Speaker 6: just a little bit.
- 58:35Speaker 13: I was a youngin all right, faith, we had a
- 58:37Speaker 13: crazy week seven, was a seven crazy week seven around
- 58:41Speaker 13: the NFL. And so this talk is gonna be about
- 58:44Speaker 13: what were the biggest surprises, you know, upsets people that
- 58:48Speaker 13: balled out, Like what what?
- 58:50Speaker 6: What kind of surprise you their faith?
- 58:52Speaker 12: Well, so I do a weekly podcast called Playmaker's Perspective,
- 58:56Speaker 12: Like and subscribe, Yes, Like and subscribe, where I pick
- 58:59Speaker 12: a guy to have faith underdog of the week that
- 59:02Speaker 12: I think is gonna win. I unfortunately thought that the
- 59:05Speaker 12: Chargers had a chance against the Chiefs rookie mistake to
- 59:08Speaker 12: honestly root against the Chiefs at home with Taylor Swift
- 59:11Speaker 12: in the building.
- 59:11Speaker 5: But that was my pick.
- 59:13Speaker 12: I was wrong. But there were a lot of other upsets,
- 59:16Speaker 12: I mean, skipping all the way to the end of
- 59:19Speaker 12: the week. The vikings of the forty nine Ers.
- 59:22Speaker 13: Yeah, the vikings kind of looked like how we thought
- 59:24Speaker 13: they were gonna look all a year.
- 59:25Speaker 5: I know, I was like, where's this team?
- 59:27Speaker 4: Men?
- 59:27Speaker 12: The whole season.
- 59:28Speaker 5: I thought that game was crazy.
- 59:30Speaker 12: I thought Kirk Cousins did what he historically has not
- 59:32Speaker 12: been able to do, which is just win those big
- 59:34Speaker 12: primetime games like that.
- 59:36Speaker 5: It was definitely a.
- 59:37Speaker 12: Situation where you would usually see him kind of fold
- 59:40Speaker 12: and I felt like they really just rose to the occasion.
- 59:42Speaker 12: And Jordan Addison raised.
- 59:45Speaker 13: I said on the Prospect preview, that's the guy I
- 59:48Speaker 13: wanted if we didn't get gonzales In.
- 59:49Speaker 12: I mean he literally turned an interception like back into
- 59:52Speaker 12: a touchdown house.
- 59:53Speaker 13: Call one of my fantasy game shout out, Jordan Addison
- 59:56Speaker 13: faith I'm gonna go with you know. While the Pats
- 59:59Speaker 13: had their own upset, which we could get into later,
- 1:00:03Speaker 13: my game day role has me on the field, so
- 1:00:04Speaker 13: I'm not I'm not watching scores around the league. Yeah,
- 1:00:08Speaker 13: I run it at halftime, I think you text to
- 1:00:11Speaker 13: be saying, bro, the uh the Lions, what happened? Because
- 1:00:15Speaker 13: Lamar Jackson showed up. It was thirty thirty eight to six,
- 1:00:22Speaker 13: and those are two division leaders, and I mean the
- 1:00:24Speaker 13: Ravens just bullied them.
- 1:00:26Speaker 12: I feel like the Ravens, like all of their parts
- 1:00:28Speaker 12: of their offense just clicked at the right time. And
- 1:00:30Speaker 12: then even Dan Campbell after the game was like, we
- 1:00:33Speaker 12: just couldn't beat ourselves, like we were just tripping on ourselves.
- 1:00:35Speaker 12: We were letting them win. Like I think Lamar Jackson
- 1:00:38Speaker 12: just hit his stride. I mean the first half stats alone,
- 1:00:42Speaker 12: he had three touchdowns, like two hundred and fifty yards.
- 1:00:45Speaker 12: I mean, I think it was just a crazy showing
- 1:00:47Speaker 12: by him. But I think that's who we've always known
- 1:00:49Speaker 12: Lamar Jackson to be. It's just like now things have
- 1:00:51Speaker 12: clicked the Lions kind of.
- 1:00:53Speaker 13: I think, like high school, the Lions were due for
- 1:00:55Speaker 13: a loss. I think I think they.
- 1:00:57Speaker 12: Got humbled a little. Yeah, I got it.
- 1:00:59Speaker 13: I was seen AI images on Twitter of what Detroit
- 1:01:02Speaker 13: will look like if they win a Super Bowl looks unbelievable,
- 1:01:04Speaker 13: But you know that's Ai.
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: It's not it's not real.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: They gotta get there.
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: I want to get back to uh the Pats.
- 1:01:11Speaker 13: Yeah, that was wild.
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: That was I thought.
- 1:01:13Speaker 10: So.
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: I thought we were gonna blow it out.
- 1:01:15Speaker 13: But then on the field, you know, the music starts going,
- 1:01:17Speaker 13: it's a sunny day, silver pants are out, and I'm like,
- 1:01:20Speaker 13: it's a good.
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: I feel a little good. Like I felt pretty good.
- 1:01:23Speaker 13: And that was That was the first time I've seen
- 1:01:26Speaker 13: Josh Allen look human since I've been working here.
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: Yeah, and I mean still great fire.
- 1:01:31Speaker 13: But yeah, I mean, oh my god, finally we get
- 1:01:34Speaker 13: your break. That wasn't a weather induced with No.
- 1:01:37Speaker 12: We were definitely talking in the office about like, dang it,
- 1:01:39Speaker 12: it's a nice day, like that means he's gonna be great,
- 1:01:41Speaker 12: Like there's no like weather impacting anything. But no. I
- 1:01:44Speaker 12: felt like I always get hype during pregame, like when
- 1:01:47Speaker 12: they run out and everything.
- 1:01:48Speaker 13: The future starts playing, Yeah, all.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: Right, let's go.
- 1:01:51Speaker 12: And then the game started and like I don't know,
- 1:01:54Speaker 12: when Jabrill caught that interception, I was like, oh, wait
- 1:01:57Speaker 12: a second, like it's early, but hold on, this looks good,
- 1:02:00Speaker 12: Like we look okay.
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: I mean, I said, I said on the field.
- 1:02:04Speaker 13: Once the Bills took the lead, I think at the
- 1:02:08Speaker 13: very end, I was like, oh, Mac hasn't thrown his
- 1:02:10Speaker 13: pick yet, so because if I hat he proved he
- 1:02:12Speaker 13: shut me up, drove down the field.
- 1:02:14Speaker 12: It was like the Bills really like I felt like
- 1:02:17Speaker 12: when they went up, I was like, okay, they were
- 1:02:20Speaker 12: just letting us have our fun, letting us have our moment.
- 1:02:22Speaker 12: We went up twenty two to ten. They gave us
- 1:02:24Speaker 12: our like moral victory and now they're just gonna be
- 1:02:26Speaker 12: the Bills and stomp us.
- 1:02:28Speaker 13: But can you also just say maybe the Bills are
- 1:02:30Speaker 13: a little overrated. I mean, they got Josh Allen and
- 1:02:33Speaker 13: then you take away Stefan Diggs. Who else is there?
- 1:02:37Speaker 13: Like Knox is okay, yeah, cook solid running back.
- 1:02:40Speaker 12: But I think honestly, Josh Allen gets a lot he's
- 1:02:43Speaker 12: re's overrated. I think like he's a phenomenal quarterback. Don't
- 1:02:47Speaker 12: get me wrong, but I think if you look at
- 1:02:48Speaker 12: his stats, like his turnovers, like we just like excuse it.
- 1:02:52Speaker 12: Like with the Bills, it's always like, oh yeah, but
- 1:02:54Speaker 12: oh well this happened or this circumstance, but it's like, okay,
- 1:02:58Speaker 12: well you have to go to win in those circumstances.
- 1:03:00Speaker 12: They should have steamrolled over us in theory, but they didn't,
- 1:03:04Speaker 12: and I feel like that shows holes on their side.
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: But also like re.
- 1:03:08Speaker 12: Like put to life my Patriots fandom, Like when Goseki
- 1:03:11Speaker 12: scored that touchdown, it was like this breath of fresh air.
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: Yeah, and I was like, oh, I'm all in.
- 1:03:15Speaker 13: Now yeah, and now now now I'm invested, And now
- 1:03:18Speaker 13: they wouldn't one more game I was out and now
- 1:03:21Speaker 13: I'm all in and every every loss is going to
- 1:03:23Speaker 13: hurt more. I want to get into a couple others.
- 1:03:26Speaker 13: The Bears, ye stopping I mean mister Tyson, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:03:31Speaker 13: uh Tylerjet Badgett.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: How you say the D two D two baller? Yeah,
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: doing this thing? Was Hoyer playing though, or was it O'Connell.
- 1:03:41Speaker 12: Honestly, I'm not sure I know? Matter it literally, it
- 1:03:44Speaker 12: doesn't matter. But I was impressed by the Bears. I
- 1:03:47Speaker 12: felt like, I mean, for him to go out there
- 1:03:50Speaker 12: again and nobody like you said, to have twenty nine,
- 1:03:54Speaker 12: one hundred and sixty two yards in a touchdown and
- 1:03:56Speaker 12: oh it was Brian Hoyer that was in. He went
- 1:03:59Speaker 12: seventy for thirty two for one hundred and twenty nine
- 1:04:01Speaker 12: yards and two interceptions.
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: Couldn't do that against us for a quarter?
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: Never changed.
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:04:06Speaker 13: And then with another another crazy thing before we wrap
- 1:04:10Speaker 13: this up, is that all the teams that we were
- 1:04:13Speaker 13: kind of tied with fighting for the first pick, they
- 1:04:15Speaker 13: all won. The Giants gotta win, yeah, which is crazy
- 1:04:19Speaker 13: because they beat they beat the Commanders, and then also
- 1:04:23Speaker 13: the Broncos gotta win, which is pretty surprising because the
- 1:04:26Speaker 13: Packers they're still sorting out the post.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: Aaron Rodgers life.
- 1:04:30Speaker 12: Yes, which I think is going to take a good
- 1:04:32Speaker 12: portion of this season, if not all seasons.
- 1:04:34Speaker 13: Yeah, so you think you think they're going to miss
- 1:04:36Speaker 13: the playoffs entirely? You think they could sort it out.
- 1:04:38Speaker 12: I don't know. I mean what they're sitting sitting at
- 1:04:42Speaker 12: two and four. They could possibly squeeze out a wild
- 1:04:46Speaker 12: card spot, but I don't see them making it past
- 1:04:49Speaker 12: the wild card around if they do make it.
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: So yeah, I don't know. Well, it was a fun week.
- 1:04:53Speaker 12: It was a very fun.
- 1:04:54Speaker 13: It was very fun, good football around, solid matchup of
- 1:04:57Speaker 13: games too.
- 1:04:58Speaker 6: Yes, but we got Week eight coming up.
- 1:05:01Speaker 13: I think we're gonna do another Thursday night preview because
- 1:05:04Speaker 13: that was always fun. Yeah, guys, send your answers into
- 1:05:07Speaker 13: webray do at Patriots dot com and guys, just because
- 1:05:10Speaker 13: if the team's not doing too hot, the posters are
- 1:05:12Speaker 13: still cool.
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: The posters are really great. They're great.
- 1:05:15Speaker 13: We want to keep this going too, so check it out.
- 1:05:18Speaker 13: Send your trivia in the webre at Patriots dot com
- 1:05:20Speaker 13: and let's get back to the show.

- 1:05:32Speaker 14: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery.
- 1:05:36Speaker 14: Everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:05:40Speaker 14: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: Only and now great moments in.
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: History.
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: It's a totally different food. I'm talking about boneless buffalo
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: wings as opposed to bone in buffalo wings.
- 1:05:55Speaker 14: Right, But isn't what's in the chicken finger the same
- 1:05:57Speaker 14: as the boneless buffalo wings?
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: Necessarily?
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: It does nice to say it does not taste it.
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: You can put anything in the boneless stuff.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: And I'm not even I'm not even anti because of that.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: Although he's right, Fred's absolutely right, it's not necessarily the same.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: The bone I think gives it more flavor. I think
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: it's a better.
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: You ever have a bone non bonus.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: Absolutely get that bone in boner.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: B That's another great moment from bridge.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Stone Official Tire. The New England Patriots is proud to
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: partner with Sullivan Tire, New England's headquarters for quality Bridgestone tires.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Visit sullivantire dot com to find a location near you. Damn,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: I was so close.

- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Now Evan went out to practice and uh, we've got
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: some trivia here is to share trivia.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: All right, you should play that great moment more often.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Time is a flat circle on pu we we somehow
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: always end up talking about boneless and bone in Buffalo
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: wings once a years.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: To produce a boy learn how to put your microphone
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: on unmute.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: He's trying to talk right now and it's not working.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: All right, Matt, we'll get you later. Let's let's get
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: these trivia answers though. All right, Paul, here's the first one.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: He's going to come in and just say it.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Oh God, look out here he comes. He's gotta he
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: gotta plug something in first. How many touchdown passes did
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Tom Brady throw to a player wearing the number eighty eight?
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Could you name a few of them? Perhaps I just
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: interviewed one of Christian give you some clues ready, uh,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: children's book, children's book?
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: Who are we doing that? Password?
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Children?
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: Children's book?
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: A little bit of a wild card Super Bowl winner
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: came through when Gronk was out.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: I'm tell us Bennett, there you go.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Tall drink of water from Buffalo never really caught on.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Scott Chandler Special.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Teams guy had a big touchdown against Miami one year
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: ten Dwight a little later, maybe a two thousand and
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: nine or so, mostly special teams big guy though.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: Oh oh oh oh oh yeah. He had a little
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: run there out of nowhere, right down the sideline. Why
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: can't I think it? No, he had a few, like
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: really productive games out of nowhere, we were catching deep balls.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: Why can't I not think of his name? They want
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: to give you his first name, No, but I totally remember.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Give me the initial essay, say sam Akin sam Aikin. Now,
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: I totally remember it, totally, totally remember.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Forgotten Brady from two thousand and seven.
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: Oh, Kyle Brady.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Kate Otten. I don't know any clues for Kate Atten,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Terry one, and Matthew Mulligan. So that's eight k total.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Who was Kate Aughton?
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: Did you play for the Bucks?
- 1:09:05Speaker 6: Alright?
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I don't remember me in here. So the Terry Glenn
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: and Matthew Terry Glenn I would have gotten, I would
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: not have gotten Ezekiel and Charleston, South Carolina. And you
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: are the proud winner of not only a PU shirt
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: but also a one of the Game Day art art
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: pieces from last weekend. So congratulations there all right, here
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: we go number number two? How many Super Bowl catches
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: yards and td tds does Dion Branch have.
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: That's a lot?
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: How many super Bowl catches catches yards and tds? Tuddies
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: a bunch.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: In Super Bowl? And twenty three catches so close twenty
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: four twenty four.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: That's good yardish yard ash, no.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: Idea take a guess.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Two and twenty two, three, twenty one and one. He
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: was productive one touchdown And Adam Louisiana, you are the
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: proud winner of a PU T shirt as well as
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: an art p from last week's game. Finally, and we've
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: already know we haven't mentioned this name yet, who was
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: the first player to catch an NFL pass from mister
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Tom Brady. There it is Stevie and Austin, Texas. You
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: won that one. Congratulations to all the winners, and thank
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: you to Matisse and Faith for the half. The halftime
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: show that's really caught on like fire. I've been hearing,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: I hear, I hear good. I have never heard the show, however,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: because we're eating usually at that point.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: But I keep being threatened that I have to take
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: part in one of these shows, and then no one
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: ever asked me no, you know, it's usually fly by
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: the seat of your pants, and well, teach usually said
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: you know, I need you, I need you, And I said, yeah,
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: just let me know. He never lets me know.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Send a calendar, invite Matisse, don't do that. Those a
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: few emails here, they've been coming in all day. We
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: try to get to as many as possible here, But
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: let's start with Melvin. Do my best Melvin impression. Stop y'all?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: That pretty good?
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: Well, don's pretty good, Melvin.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Do you guys not like being the rebound team coming
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: off Miami's past game or do you feel more confident
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: that we can put exploit those same weaknesses and beat them.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I'm not sure we can capitalize off the mistakes anyway,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: So it doesn't matter. I want to be a negative
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: today because it's fun. Smiley face, that's Melvin.
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: I don't know, Paul, this is your thing. You're always you,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: always you always ta you always zig when I think
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: you're gonna zag on the like, what's your ideal team
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: to play like coming off a big, overachieving win.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that the Uh, this is not a
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: great spot because I think it was a great It's
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: a great spot in the schedule for Miami being in
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: between two you know, high profile games with the Eagles
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: on a Sunday night and then the Germany game with
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: the Chiefs next week. But the fact that they played
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: a subpar game I think is not good, you know,
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: for the underdog.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: Especially at home. Like I just I think playing Miami.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: Right, because now you're looking at it and you're saying, well,
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: if we don't if we don't come to play, they
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: just beat Buffalo and we'd be in danger of losing
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: three in a row. Can't do that, you know, so
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: you're gonna have their full attention. I don't always I
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: think that's conventional wisdom. Yeah, I don't always fall into that.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: I think Dallas was one earlier in the year that
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: I didn't necessarily think because they lost to Arizona was
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: a good thing for the Patriots or a bad thing
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: for the Patriots. Now I think that was more about
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: the Patriots than Dallas. To be honest with you, I
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: think the Patriots played a really bad game. That's why
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: they got blown out.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: I just think the start is so important again this week.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: I know it was my key last week, although the
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: key the key is still hanging up there from the
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: pregame show, which you guys can't see, but Paul put
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: it up there to taunt us, I feel like, just
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: to let us know that he won it and we
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: did not. But need a good start this weekend. Another
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: one here, and I am gonna read this one because
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Ryan says, hello Mike and the Gang. I put Mike
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: above everyone else because he's my favorite. So there you go, Paul.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Some people actually like me too. A great game. We
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: talk a lot about what Mac did, both good and bad,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: whether it be his third down past to Henry to
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: keep the final drive alive or him running into the
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: backs of his old line. But one thing I think
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: worth mentioning is something Mac didn't do that has become
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: a pattern for him this season. He did not throw
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: a week pass across the field into the arms of
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: the defense.
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: He wanted to, though he tried a couple of times.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: He's say, granted, he did throw a couple. He did
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: throw a couple of knuckleballs. But we've poop pooed on
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: macall season for his irresponsible decision making under pressure, for
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: better or worse. Even if he got sack for loss,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: he didn't throw the ball away for that.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: Was his best game, you know, without question. It was
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: his best game of the year.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: My fans, they have great analysis. This is Jared and
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Vermont Dolphins have been kicking our rears for way too long.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I give Mike McDaniel a lot of credit. He can
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: run an offense better than anybody, but he is a
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: dork and they are front running team. I'd like to
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: see us get a lead on them early and be
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: more physical team jam r two backs down their shoots
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: and tee off on their shoddy offensive line. Paul, how
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: do you feel about the running game here?
- 1:13:54Speaker 15: Is?
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: I mean, do they have any chance to get Elliott
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: and Stevenson going to like a level where it's not
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: just picking up what's there, but like pushing the envelope,
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: pushing the issue, getting the yards that aren't there.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: And you could make an argument that, you know, they
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: got off to a decent start running the ball the
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: other day and then they didn't sustain it, and maybe
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: that's why they had a hard time, you know, being
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: consistent on offense. You know, they they got the early touchdown,
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: but then it was all the way to the fourth
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: quarter before they scored again a touchdown again. So yeah,
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: I think that they need to be better running the ball.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: Both guys you can't have. You can't have guys, you know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: averaging three yards to carry or less. They need to
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: be more consistent. I think, you know, it was like
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: that one good I think you look at I've heard
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: a lot of people talk about the first eight runs
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: or like forty one yards like, but no one says like, well,
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: you know, one of them was fourteen, you know, like
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: they had you know, a good run early and then
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: they had a bunch of you know, shorter runs. Now
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: what I liked from the running game and which I
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: you know, I think they were able to get short
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: yardage when they did it. They were able to convert
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: twice in the on the goal line for touchdowns. So
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: that's the stuff that I think they need to continue
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: to do. I don't expect them to line up and
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: run their way to two hundred and twenty yards against
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: Miami unless it turns into a blowout and they end
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: up running the ball forty five times, you know, and
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: they're able to play with the lead and run the
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: clock out in the second half.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, another one from Ron and Conway. Good afternoon, everyone.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: It's weird to see Deuce in Fred's seat, his empty
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: seat makes me nervous, almost like when Belichick wears the
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: red hoodie. So after the miracle Buffalo win and how
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: badly they toasted Miami, is it possible that the coaches
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: have focused more heavily on the game tape from the
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Buffalo game and maybe the Eagles game from the other night.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Just one last question for was Evan's on here? So
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: we're gonna skip that one.
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: I mean, I think they take everything in. I don't
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: think that there's really a you know, specific focus on games.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: I mean, I think you got it. You have to
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: see how everything kind of went and how everything unfolded,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: like your point of game contacts and all those things.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's I mean I looked at that, uh
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: you know at the Chargers game where it's you know,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: you want to you get like something in your head
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: of like, oh well, whenever they get a lead there
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: or whenever they fall behind they struggled. No, they don't.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: They you know, they've been behind. They were behind Carolina
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: and they came back and you know, had no problem.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: They went toe to toe with San Diego, back and
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: forth and back and forth. They won a lot of
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: those games. So it's it's hard. I think you have
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: to take everything in and then figure out just how
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: to get my team to play best, not you know,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: let's try to recreate what another team did with our guys.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: This seems really hard to do.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I would agree with you. I think that the
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: that's why, like it's so hard to be overly relying
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: on all the numbers. And I mean that's why I
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: sort of push back. He I just think they're a
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: small sample. Like listen, if they can get the lead
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: every game. I love their chances, you know, from playing
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: from the front and that way. You can do offense
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: any way you want to do it. You can run,
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: you can throw, you can do what they did on Sunday.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: And I want to say it was like two thirds
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: one third passing on first down because you're doing it
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: when you want to instead of when you have to.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and they don't know what you're doing either. They
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: you know, you have a less element of a predictability.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: A couple of questions here in the mailbox about Taekwon, Thornton,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Jack and Ann Arbor. You know, once to conclude, he's
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: how long do we have to wait before we conclude
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: he's a bust. You know, we heard Evan say earlier
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: he he thinks he's a little bit on the outs.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Maybe not, you know, running the right routes that kind
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: of stuff. Maybe not on the same page. We've seen
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: some of it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: It looked like Mac was upset with him. That's why
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: I said it. I don't I don't watch the All
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: twenty two. I thought Mac frustration. Yeah, Mac looked like
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: like one of the Yeah, I looked like he was
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: looking at him on one of those early plays. And
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: he only played three plays. So I'm just using sort
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: of circumstantial evidence.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we've had little glimpses of him. You know,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: they like catches, like individual catches, I would.
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: Not really in games.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Not in games, I mean in practices.
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: I've seen it a little bit in practice here and there.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: But you know, he had that touch down. I think
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: what last year, most of the back of the end yea.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: Most of the players that I've seen him make in
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: games have been sort of routine.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: We haven't seen as like just the speed though, you know,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: like that's that's I think it was probably maybe what
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: the biggest indictment is because you look at him and
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: you know he's not a big guy. You know, he's
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: probably going to struggle when there's contact downfield, and that
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: was certainly the case this summer. Like that was, you know,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: every time there's like a jump ball, he's going to
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: go flying. But I've just never had that moment other
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: than like warm up drills where they've run across the
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: film of that drill they did with their the cones
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: and they had to just sprint, you know, to the fifty.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I haven't seen a single game where it was like,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: who his speed is dangerous, Like it's it's not even
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: put him on the field and let him just stretch
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: the field kind of sea.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: And the other thing is like when they have sent
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: him deep last year mostly obviously, I think there was
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: only once this year. I think one of the Raiders
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: play that was out of bounds. They always seem to
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: send him down the sidelines. And I thought that they
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: really got away from the outside the numbers throws the
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: other day against Buffalo, and I think that worked their advantage.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: I think they had mostly shorter stuff over the middle,
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: and I don't necessarily think that caters to Taekwon Thoughton style.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: For snaps is crazy, though I mean it does scream
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: like three three, what do you know? And especially where
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: I mean, it would appear, and this is what we
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: talked about Rager. I mean, it would appear that if
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: you're gonna play somebody on the outside right now, they're
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: more focused on Jalen Rager than they are, you know,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: putting Taekwon out there for a handful of snaps and
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: trying to see if he can do anything out there,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: or at least I when we saw Mac take the
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: shot at him a couple of weeks ago, not even close.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: I mean, the trying it seems like a little bit,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: but as soon as he messes up, it seems like
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: he's yeah.
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: And you know, to answer the big picture question that
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: he said, you know, at what point do you know
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: he has been banged up? I'd like to see him
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: just sort of enter the season, you know, ready to
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: go and see if there's anything there. Now, if you're
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: asking me what I think, I don't. I don't have
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: a lot of faith.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: I don't either.
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: I don't have a lot of faith because I haven't
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: really seen any kind of consistent production. But I do
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: think there's some extent you ating, you know, circumstances starting
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: both seasons on IR and getting a slow start, and
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: it's it's hard, I think when you're not an established player,
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: Like it's one thing if you have you know, like
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: Justin Jefferson's on IR to start the year and then
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: he you know, checks in week five and he's Justin Jefferson.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: You know, he's got an established role. So now he's
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: missing four games and he doesn't really have a role
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: when he's out there, so he's getting three snaps, you
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: know what I mean. Yeah, And I'm not trying to
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: give him excuses. I'm just saying it's hard to.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Get, hard to get, yeah, and I mean, and he's
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: had that throughout, but it's just it's just such an
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: interesting thing with having watched Harry who you know, granted,
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Harry walking up the stairs out the practice always look
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: like this guy looks like an Adonis. I mean, this
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: is you know, this is what you want a big
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: NFL receiver to look like. And Thornton's just never impressive
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: physically and you're willing to forgive him man if he's fast,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: but I just think thecality is hard for him. And
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: you've seen it two years in a row where he's
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: starting on IR, you know, because he's having contact. I mean,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: I guess the injury in Buffalo, in Green Bay, excuse me,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: wasn't contact, It was laying out. But again it's just
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: upper body bone injuries that you know he can't seem
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: to avoid at this point. Another question here from Brandon
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: writing in I think this is another interesting player. We
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: haven't really talked about him a lot. Hey, guys, I
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: want to get your thoughts on Dougger. I lived fifteen
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: minutes away from where he played in college. Anyways, he
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: was one of my favorite players coming in this season.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I had really high hopes from him. Why do you
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: think he's been bad lately? Is he being asked to
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: do something other than what he has done in the
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: past couple of years. Or do you think having Devin
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: in the back last year helped Doug ar ball hawk
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: and as Pepper took Dougger's role this year. I mean,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: I think mccordy has something to do with it for sure,
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: the freedom it allowed Dugger.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think that. Like I don't think he's
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: been I don't think he played it great. I don't
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: think he played a great game on Sunday. I think
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: you had a couple of high profile missus for some reason,
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: when other guys miss tackles, they're not necessarily credited for
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: some reason. I don't know. I don't think he's been bad.
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: I just don't think he's made as many plays. And
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: I agree with you, Mike. I think it's probably due
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: to mccordy, not because mccady set him up to make plays,
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: but he's feeling that mccordy role more often.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think Evan Evan said the I mean
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: they're playing more deep. I mean he's playing more deep.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: He's not going to make as many plays back there.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: He's never been the rangiest kind of guy in space anyway,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: that's not as good.
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: They have very little depth that they don't They haven't
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: played a lot of just like we're just gonna line
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: up and man up and and I know that they've
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: played man coverage, but I'm talking about like we're going
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: to take Christian Gonzalez and just he's going to follow
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: the other team's number one receiver. I don't think they've
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: done that a whole lot, even when Gonzalez was healthy.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: So I do think that part of the trickle down
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: for that is you're bracketing a lot of guys, and
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: I think that's where he's been. Now, that doesn't mean
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: he's played great, because I don't think he's been as
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: good as he has in the past.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: No's he just hasn't. I mean he's usually could count
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: him for some impact plays and that's think what what's
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: been missing? But uh, all right, let's jump over to
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: the funds here real quick.
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: Spee.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: Uh we hear you've been cheating on us? What's going on, buddy?
- 1:23:07Speaker 15: No, I just wasn't used to a win.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: And I didn't know who you're calling.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: You couldn't wait till you couldn't wait till tuesday.
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: I had to call somebody.
- 1:23:16Speaker 15: I got a questions. I was just kind of a
- 1:23:20Speaker 15: little thrown for a loop there, so I had to
- 1:23:22Speaker 15: give my slot flop your seconds to say, Andy and fifty.
- 1:23:25Speaker 15: Uh But anyway, this is this is this is a.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: New a here you guys the baby we're rolling.
- 1:23:33Speaker 15: It's right, it's right, this is a good I had.
- 1:23:37Speaker 15: I had a nonsense question because of builds, new contracts
- 1:23:41Speaker 15: of like it's a moot point. But I'm still kind
- 1:23:44Speaker 15: of curious in your thoughts on it, Like if you
- 1:23:46Speaker 15: had to choose next year having either Bill come back
- 1:23:50Speaker 15: in his you know, current capacity as coach m GM
- 1:23:53Speaker 15: or having Matt as your starting quarterback. You have to
- 1:23:57Speaker 15: choose one or the other. Which one would it have been?
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: Bill?
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: I think Bill.
- 1:24:03Speaker 15: The The issue with that is that then you you
- 1:24:05Speaker 15: are accepting that he's going to be continuing to structure
- 1:24:08Speaker 15: your team with whatever his broad has been.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Don't you think?
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not It's not a great option. No, I agree,
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: but Bill's at least done it. Yeah, I feel better
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: about Bill Belichick's ability than I do. Mac Jones, What
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: do you think?
- 1:24:22Speaker 15: What do you think Evan would have said to that?
- 1:24:24Speaker 15: Don't you think Evan? I think my guess was that
- 1:24:26Speaker 15: was going to say.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: I think would say, Man would get me a young Yeah,
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: you know, you know, yeah, I think I think that
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: is what Evan would say.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: We'll find out in the second here when he comes back.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: But when he returns from practice, don't sing it.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: That's the only thing I have to you know. Sure, Yeah,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I don't want you to keep anything in the in
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: the barrel there.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: I don't want you to feel unfulfilled in any way
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: in this relationship.
- 1:24:50Speaker 16: I'm going to be I'm going to Paris and uh
- 1:24:54Speaker 16: and so be there starting this month. So there's anybody
- 1:24:59Speaker 16: in Paris to go and get wine.
- 1:25:01Speaker 15: Or beer, do whatever you do there.
- 1:25:03Speaker 10: I'll be in the.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Second alright, man, save safe travels and avoid those other shows.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: Thanks buddy, all.
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: Right, avoid those other shows.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Right on Q Evan's back.
- 1:25:15Speaker 16: Then, as we turned?
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: Has turned? Has we turned?
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: All right? Evan, welcome back from practice. What what's going
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: on out there on the practice field?
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: So I'm really upset that boss Man isn't here today.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Don't I'll do.
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: It's a lot to talk about in regard to the mood.
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: I can.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: I'm really upset he's not here because this was a
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: unique practice schedule for the media. Okay, I in my
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: time covering the team, I can't recall them ever letting
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: us go into practice, leave practice, and then come back
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: to practice.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: Because they had some secret stuff they had to do.
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: They had a secret thing they were doing, and that
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: was planned, planned, because sometimes they kick us out before
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: they're supposed to and then they bring this.
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: But this sounds like a plan. This is different.
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: It was planned and uh. The the grousing, the grousing
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: about about the plan was that they were probably walking
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: through with the starting offensive line and they did not
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: want us reporting on who was where. So that would
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: be my guess, especially based off of what we've seen
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: in the past of the way things go, you know,
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: the structure of things from the most part, But on
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: an attendance basis, Keon White was the only player absent
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: from practice or so he remains in concussion protocol. So
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: every you know, everybody that became banged up in the game,
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: Trent Brown out there, you know, those all those guys
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: out there, and Juju still out there even though he
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: wasn't active in the game on Sunday, and uh yeah,
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: I just uh just keyon, but a little bit of
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: different change up.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: What would you say. The mood was.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: Well, it was pretty hot out there, so that that's
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: good dope because they're going to be hot on Sunday,
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: so it's good preparation. And uh, like I said, it
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: was a little odd the way that we were kicked
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: out and then brought back in for maybe like two
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: minutes like it whether you know that the third period.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: Or whatever, you want to walk through like they did,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: like the stupid little just warm yes, and then they
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: did a walk.
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: They did right, they did stretching. No, we did stretching first.
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: Then I'm assuming they did a walk through and then
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: they brought us back for positional drills. So when they
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: broke up from the walkthrough is when we got to
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: come back in. Yeah, and watch a little bit longer.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: That makes sense, unless they have Malie cunning him back.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: Well, you have a locker later today, we'll find out.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: We'll find out, we'll report mysteries.
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: Real hook.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: We had a we had a call asking to choose
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: spe between If you had to just pick one Bill
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: or Mack for next year, wh would you take.
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: Oh, that's the proper answer.
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: I probably lean towards Bill simply because the resume is there, right, Like,
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: you know, you have to kind of lean on the
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: fact that Bill has accomplished fifty times more in the
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: NFL at his job than mac Jones has ever accomplished
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: in his But that's a tough one, especially if mac
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: Jones keeps playing like he did on Sunday and you
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: look at it and you're like, well, it's kind of
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: the architecture of the offense and not necessarily the guy
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: driving the car, and and that's your big takeaway. Then
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: you kind of look at Bill a GM as more
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: of the problem in that equation. But yeah, I think
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: I gotta go with Bill for the resume.
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: I think Mike and I both sort of assigned you
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: that you would pick mac acknowledge because you know your
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: your Bill animosity.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: That's true. That's true.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Well, speaking of Bill animosity, we've got an email from
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: our friend Deep here, who always brings it with the
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: emails and he always sparks some good discussions. So Deep,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: thank you for email. Big Kahunas that's our name. I
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: guess since the beginning of the season, with every game
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: where the team is offensive woes, the one through line
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: I've heard from this form is how it's Belchick's fault.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: He did not construct the right roster, he has not
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: supported Mack, he intentionally short changed the offensive line. The
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: game has passed him by, and he just is in
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: a good offensive line now with a somewhat decent offensive showing.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: As Evan said on Tuesday, Billy Oh should take a
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: bout with the fifty yard line. It has to be
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: the easiest to play or coordinate, or play in or
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: coordinate the offense for the New England Patriots in twenty
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: twenty three. Heads you win, tails, Belichick loses. Want to
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: respectively remind you that you're what you are doing now,
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: that you are doing now what the media did in
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: twenty nineteen to twenty twenty, like driving the best NFL
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: player of all time out of town. Now you can't
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: wait to put the top three one of the top
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: three best coaches of all time out to pasture. Be
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: careful of this wish, as it may just come true
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: and also much the Deuce's chagrin, I maintained my notion
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: from last month's email that you graciously read before the
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Dallas and now Lence games. Mac Jones is a below
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: average quarterback and the main cause of the past issues.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: Time will tell who is right. By the way, it
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: would be a dream to watch all twenty two with Evan,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: as he promised last month.
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: Based off the emails, it sounds like he hates us.
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: So I'm a little surprised with the Bill O'Brien thing.
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: I guess maybe I think I'm understanding him correctly. But
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: our issues, or my issues, shouldn't be for you, guys.
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: My issues with Bill is about his personnel decisions. So
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: giving Bill O'Brien credit for turning water into wine. Is
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: me telling you that Bill O'Brien did his job well
- 1:30:44Speaker 5: and made this s sandwich into like some of the
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: jersey Mike's number seven, right.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Like that's what makes perfect sense.
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: Right, So I don't understand like how that's like, you
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: know it kind of he's the way he phrased it
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: made it sound like we were contradicting ourselves. But really,
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: what I'm telling you is that Bill O'Brien constructed that
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: like he like, I really feel like he created an
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: offensive game plan that they could execute and that they
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: could score twenty nine points with and that was all
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: him and the offensive personnel was kind of just along
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: for the ride for a lot of it.
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: Now, what I would say is if that offense that
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: they had on Sunday improves as the year goes on
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: and gets better and better, and that's you know, that
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: those miserable games of the early part of the season
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: become a distant memory, then I would say Bill Belichick
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: deserves more credit than we've given him for giving the pieces,
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: you know, better pieces than we gave him credit for.
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: Because yes, I agree with everything Evan just said. I
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: think they all limited offensively and Bill O'Brien it took
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: him seven, you know, seven weeks to find some options
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: that he could figure out how to you know, best
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: move the ball. That is not easy. So I think
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: Bill O'Brien does deserve credit over Bill Belichick on Sunday.
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: But if it becomes that's the norm, then we look
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: at it and say, oh, maybe Belichick's I knew, I
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: knew these pieces could work, and I, you know, deep
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: has the opinion of the quarterback that I probably share.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: I don't necessarily blame either one of them. As much
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: as I do. I don't think the quarterback is good enough.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: Now again, Sunday, he was more than good enough. So
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: if that becomes the norm, then I'd be willing to
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: give mac Jones more credit too.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: But even to that point, if you're saying that Mac
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: Jones is not very good and they scored twenty nine
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: points against the Bills and won the game in the
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: last second, then again it's Bill O'Brien.
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: That's why Bill O'Brien gets the credit, right, Yes, But
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: if this is what they become on a regular basis,
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: then I'm like, oh, he's better. O'Brien's doing a great
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: job with what Belichick gave him, and mac Jones is
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: a better quarterback than I get. It's to me, it's
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: you know, you gotta fall Yeah, you gotta fall over
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: each other to see who gets the credit. Everybody gets,
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: you get the credit.
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: I won there twelve and five.
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: Twelve and five is in place, And Fred told me
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: right after the Buffalo game, twelve and five is in play.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: He knew a little fun one here from Ryan. Hey, guys,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: So besides Tom Brady, who is the Patriots player that
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: left in free agency and broke your heart.
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: Like a young heart or like Curtis Martin would be
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: the only one that I could have. But like I
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: think Evan answered the question, like anybody that left here
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: while I've been working here wouldn't have broke you know
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: what I mean? Like I like all the players. There's
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: this very small group of players over the twenty plus
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: years that I haven't liked. So almost almost all of
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: them across the board I liked. So I never like
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: to see anybody leave. I remember having a great talk
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: with Daniel Graham after his last game, thinking he's probably
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: not going to be back. You know, I really liked him,
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: But does it break my heart? No, you know, and
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: Brady didn't break my heart, you know, truth like it
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: Just how do.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: You feel about Drew? I mean that felt inevitable probably
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: at that point.
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: Episode no brain more we need to happen.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Were you surprised he went to Buffalo? No, I'm glad.
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: I think that Bill Belichick is smart and and you
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: get the best deal that you can get and that
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: was the first round pick.
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I uh, I would say young young Evan
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: Adam van Terry going to the Colts was was tough.
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: That was tough because I wasn't like quite old enough
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: yet to really understand like the the reasoning, Like it
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: made no sense to me, you know, like why the
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: greatest kicker of all time and you're just letting him
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: walk out the door, and it just that part of
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: it didn't make any sense. And if I remember correctly,
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: it was him and Johnny Damon left like very similar
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: time frames. So that was that was a tough tough
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: couple of.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: Right, because didn' Damon go to the Yankees? Yeah, Adam
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: went to the to the Colts.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a tough kind of two step there. Yeah.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: Sure, any Bruins, any Bruins that left.
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: Uh, not that I can think of off the top
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: of my head. Like Joe Thorton, his time was was done.
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: You know, I don't think that that one.
- 1:35:02Speaker 4: I was bummed on Thwarton, But again as an adult,
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: it's different.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Like your favorite player leaving Kuai from Hawaii writes
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: in a Little Bit about Mac, Mack had his best
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: career win on Sunday. Before Sunday, I was convinced Mack
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: could not play quarterback at the pro level and that
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: he would be at best a Hoyer level backup. Now
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I'm not so sure. From here. I think there are
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: three ways the rest of mac season could go. He
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: regresses completely. We look back at the Bills game as
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: a minor blip, and we're certain at the end of
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: the season that he's not the future. Two, he continues
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: playing at the level we saw Sunday. He keeps playing
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: with confidence. It is no longer stymied by the thirty
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: point barrier. We're certain at the end of the season
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: that he is the future. Third, he's become. He has
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: some good games and some bad games. He's able to
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: play from ahead and beat up on bad teams, with
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: struggles to come back from a deficit. It doesn't show
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: the ability to put the team on his back. His
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: future remains uncertain, obviously, I think three is most likely.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: So questions, do you all agree that three is most likely?
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: And how many more games like Sunday would you need
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: to see to feel confident that.
- 1:35:58Speaker 6: We got a guy.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: I think three is the most likely.
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: Yeah, three more game like more wins?
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: No, no, no, three, number three. Number three is in
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: when he's going to kind of continue to be up
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: and down.
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: Like what what mac is like, was Sunday We're gonna
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: look back at Sunday as a blip and he's he's
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: more of you just sort of or was Sunday the
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: launching point? He's going to be great and you know,
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: or three probably a little up and down.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: And so I would say that they don't have whether
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: he's capable of it or not. I don't think as
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: an offense they have the ability to be great every
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: single week, like it just the whole thing, I don't think.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: But I would like to think that at the very least,
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: he won't be losing you games like he did against
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: Dallas New Orleans where he's turned the ball over like
- 1:36:47Speaker 5: crazy and things like that. So if you tell me
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: over the course of the next was it nine games
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: that they have left, ten games that they have left.
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: If he's like just a game manager in seven of them,
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: and maybe he's like better than that in a couple,
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: then I still think that that could be good enough.
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: But you know it just as a matter of how
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: it looks, you know, from an optic standpoint.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Let's get it. Grab another one here, Bill. It's always
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: aggressive when somebody just like forwards you an email they
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: already sent because like you missed it or you didn't
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: read it, and that's oh, I'm sorry, strenuously objets.
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: I get it.
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: But Bill and Vista California says, if the team beats Miami,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: we're three and five, two and one in the division,
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: would you say the chances of us being buyers are
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: more likely? Do you think there's any chance that there's.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: Anything happension they beat Miami.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: Miami, Buffalo, and the Jets, they beat all three.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: I'm not overfully worried about the division record because I
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: don't really think they're going to be in the race
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: for the division. But could help you beat out one
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: of the division teams for a wild card? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: if you can get within three games.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: He's starting to believe. He's starting to believe a little bit.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: Getting them around. You're getting them around.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: I can I just a quick soapbox moment about the
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: trade deadline, please the floor. This This isn't baseball like
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: like the buyers and sellers thing like in the NFL. Yes,
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: they are starting to trade more in the NFL. That's
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: one hundred percent effect. There's more trades going on now
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: than there were ten years ago in the NFL. We
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: are still not at the point yet, I don't think,
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: and we'll see maybe on Halloween there's fifteen trades and
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: it's craziness, but we're still not at the point yet.
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: I don't think where it's like other sports like baseball
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: and basketball where the trade deadline is this like monumental
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: trade day where all these guys are being moved and
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: big names are being moved like it just it hasn't
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: worked out that way. The big trades really have happened
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: in the off season, if they happen at all, right,
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: Like guys like Tyreek Hill, AJ Brown, you know, Jalen Ramsey,
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: like those guys get traded in the off season. They
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: don't get traded midway. Through the year most of the time.
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: So I feel like this is not like to the emailer,
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: this is just in general because I hear it on
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: all these everywhere that this buyers are sellers, buyers are
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: sellers like that? In what world?
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: Is that?
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: How the NFL trade deadline works? Like, because most of
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: the time nothing happens, or if it's something, it's like
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: little trades here and there, a back end to the
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: roster guys.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: I love trades in hockey. It's a it's a totally
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: different thing, like as you're coming down the stretch and
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: you need somebody and then you just kind of get
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: this hired gun that's probably only going to be there
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: for the cup run. But it's just like it's kind
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: of happened so often that you almost expect it. It's like,
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: you know, when someone comes into a football team. Now
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: you're like, well, we got to teach them the offense.
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: We got it last year. Yeah, great, there's a great deadline.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: It's fun and it's part of it.
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: It's not you know, like in hindsight, they aren't so great.
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: I think they were great moves. Just because they got
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: knocked out in the first round.
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: Also put them in cap jail. But this is not
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: this is not Bruins unfilm.
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: But I would just say, like the main difference to
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: me and you guys have touched on it, it's like
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: football is different.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Can't any you can't just.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: I mean, you can't say that football is this super
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: complicated sport that's so reliant on game planning and everything,
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: and then just say you can just PLoP a guy
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: in and you know nothing, you know, nothing is affected.
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: You know, at some positions you can do that, sure,
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: but for a lot of them, it's system reliant. You
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: need to figure out if the guy can perform in
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: your system. And the other part of it is like
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: in baseball, you're trading for prospects, and I understand you
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: could say, well, draft picks or prospects, but they're not
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: like they're trading for guys who you've already seen playing
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: at the professional level, who have shown a modicum of
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: ability as opposed to a fifth round pick, you know,
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: like it's not the same. Yeah, So I do think
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: there'll be some trades. I think teams will continue to
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: try to dump salary at the trade deadline, the teams
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: that are out of it. But I agree with Evan
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: I don't think it's like the other three sports. I
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: think all three of the other sports are different than
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: football in regard to the trade deadline.
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I like J. C. Jackson's a great example of
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: like that one just made. He's been here, he succeeded
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: here the case by case, right, and it's like you're
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: not learning a new system, You're not like going to
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: a totally new team and all that type of stuff.
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: But that's such a specific case that that just doesn't
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: happen in the grand scheme of things all that often
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: where it's like a player like that, that's you know,
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: you're really just kind of plugging and playing him in
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: because you know that he knows everything that he needs
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: to know. It's just a unique situation.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: I got one here from Brandon to Maine, a little
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: game or like a would you rather game. I fully
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: acknowledge that I'm not a Mac fan. That he is
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: I believe a mediocre at BES QB, and it would
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: be in our best interest to move on from him
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: as a third year QB. I think the uncertainty around
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: him puts the Patriots in a difficult position, and I
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: began to think about how our situation compares to the
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: situation of other teams in the NFL. From there, I
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: did my own little would you rather game in my
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: head and now I share.
- 1:41:53Speaker 6: It with you.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: I did not consider including the QBS that I think
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: are definitely better than mac Allen to a Burrow, Lamar Mahomes,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: Herbert Gott, Hurts, and Stafford. I think there are more,
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: but I think everyone can agree on those nine. So
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: would you rather have Patriots current QB situation, third year
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: mac On, a rookie contract or any of the below?
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: Boy, it's gonna be a long list.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: Titans Tannehill No, Broncos Wilson No, not in that contract.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: No Browns Watson, No, not in that contract. Raiders, Jimmy
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: g No, everybody's favorite.
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: Probably not.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins yes, Baker Mayfield No, Derek thinking about it?
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Maybe same yeah, car yes, yeah, and Gino Gino Smith No.
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: I would rather Gino then he's got.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: A few rookie contract groups. This would probably be a
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: little bit tougher pick it. No. Stroud yes, Stroud, yes,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: Richardson yeah, yes, No, No, Fields yes, Yes.
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: I don't know that one's tough. I'm gonna say yes though.
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: Lawrence Yes, Howell.
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: No, I don't think so.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: He looks he looks good at the standing there.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: I don't like love. Bryce Young, Yeah, I don't like Love.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I would take Bryce No, No, not Desmond or No. Yes,
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: he stinks I'll answer for him. That's the Rundown Rock Party.
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: And Matt Jones, are you Spider Man status?
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: I think I think virtually every one of those guys,
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: beyond the obvious ones, you could tell me, oh, sure,
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: I'll take him over him, Oh today, I'll take him
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: over Yeah, like Picket, I don't know two gloves. I
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: don't know about Baker Mayfield.
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: The only guy that Only two guys on the list
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: besides the obvious ones were Trevor Lawrence obviously, and I
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: would take Kirk Cousins. But than that, I feel like.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: That that's and that's why it is certainly with the
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: all the older dudes that have been around, Like I
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: just that's what I don't really care to pursue this offseason.
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: Like if it's going to be Mac, just roll with Mac.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: I don't need to go to Jimmy g Don't you
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like those guys, I just don't
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: feel like it's it's we know.
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: What they are.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: And even though Mac is, we kind of pretty much
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: I feel like know what Mac is for the most part,
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: especially when he's just scratching the surface right now, like there,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: maybe maybe there's something we have a little bit of
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: optimism on him, or maybe you can, you know, talk
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: yourself into believing that that Max's gonna you know, all
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: of a sudden really build off of this last win.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: But I don't know, I just none of those, none
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: of those veteran quarterbacks appeal to me in any way,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: Like if Mac, bring back Mac, if he stinks, get
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: another pick, keep pursuing the quarterback position regardless, and you know,
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: figure it out, figure it out, as they.
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: Say, there's one.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: Oh, here's a theory from Dylan and Nashville. The reason
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: Bill won't sign players the big contracts is because he
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: needs to be the big highest paid person in the room.
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: I think he would be the highest paid room person
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: in the room pretty much regardless, unless we're talking.
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: About like Mahomes.
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: Yeah, like a quarterback, you know, I mean, Tyreek Hill's
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: making thirty million a year, so I guess.
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: That'll be when he retires.
- 1:45:13Speaker 5: Those types of guys, but like, really, the only one
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: that's gonna let be way over Bill would.
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: Be when when Matt gets his Daniel Jones deal. That's
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: when Bill says, see, that's and that's the I don't
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: think he mentioned I don't think Daniel. Don't remember Daniel
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: Jones on that list.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: But could you could you see them just get to
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: the point and saying nope, no, Yeah, they could absolutely
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: see it this time next year they've decided we're not
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: giving him that.
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: So oh no, the is different.
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: So I've always thought that the best way to go
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: about it unless he one hundred percent proves that he's
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: one way or the other that he's not it or it.
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: They have the fifth year option, and they also have
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: the franchise tag, so technically it's a lot of.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: Kicking the can down the road.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think they would use the franchise tag.
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: I think that's too much. It's too much. I think
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: that doesn't mean it's right.
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: I just think it's like it's too much in terms
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: of that one year. I agree, But at the same time,
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: you're not giving him that ninety million guaranteed. Now you're
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: only giving him thirty five million guaranteed, and that that
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: number is.
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: I just I don't think, and maybe they'll surprise me.
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: I don't think they're comfortable with that unless they know
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: for sure.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: Yeah, Greg and Florida says, you never answer my emails
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: or discuss them, but I won't give up get rid
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: of Mac. All right, there you go.
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: That's it, that's the whole We got them, we got
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: I got That's why we don't read.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: Tell you some of it.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: Some of the emails today have gotten me to be
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: uh pro MAC, and I am not generally in that camp.
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like they just.
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: Feel like there's too much, you know, it's like it's
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: too negative on him.
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: That the pro MAC people came out of the woodwork
- 1:46:50Speaker 5: after Sunday, and so now the anti BAC people have
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: to their fighting empire strikes back, you know.
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: The block police had a good had a good Monday.
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: Dan Orlovski, Oh my god, what an embarrassment that was.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: So I didn't see it really was Peacock a little
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: bit of a max.
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: He shows a highlight of the touchdown pass to Gasiki
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: and he goes pea shooter like that's like that's the
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: play that you use to say, like, no, he has
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: a good arm, Like I have nothing but accolades for
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: Mac Jones. That's the play you're choosing to say, Oh no, no, no,
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: you're wrong, Rex. He has a good arm. Look look
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: at that. Look at how he floats the ball over
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: the safety under the goalpost. Like great play, won the game.
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: I'm not criticizing at all, But that's an example of
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: arms strength.
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: Well there's two throws too that like the obviously the
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: third down one to Hunter Henry and then I think
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: also floating.
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: Okay again, Evan, don't misunderstand me. It was a perfect
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: throw under tremendously tough circumstances, but it's not an example
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: of man. He rifled that one in there. I think
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: that's what Rex Ryan's beef is with him, is that
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: he's a pea shooter.
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: Yeah. I think the one to to Douglas two up
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: the seam that was that had a little bit more
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: more gusto on it.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: I'm picturing one and I can't remember what it was,
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: but he threw it to the left. I feel like
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: they were in the red zone and it was like
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: this close to getting picked off. I'm forgetting what's throw
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: it was, but there was there was one where.
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: He threw one. The one that he threw to Douglas,
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: but it was it was a DPI, so maybe that
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: made it look worse, but that one looked When Rex
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: talks about arm talent, like at least what times that
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: I've listened to him and like can stomach it for
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: a minute, because he just pissed me off. But when
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: he talks about arm talent, I think he's mostly talking
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: about throws outside the numbers. Like I don't think that
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: he feels like Mac can't make the Hunter Henry throw,
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: you know, like where he can just drive it fourteen
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: fifteen yards into the middle of the field. I think
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: Rex is more talking about like can he throw a
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: deep out from the far hash like with you know,
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: without a perfect pocket and all you know, everything around him.
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: And I can't disagree with him on that, like he
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: doesn't necessarily have that kind of arm talent. And I also,
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: you know, Rex also talks about like off platform, which
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: we all know is very valid, but in terms of
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: like throwing it into the middle of the field as
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: long as it's you know, he's not under a ton
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: of pressure, I think that he has enough to make
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: those types of throws.
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: Patty and AGUAMC you got to jump off. That's all right, Patty.
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: You made me look bad, but that's fine. My question
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: is regarding the game on Sunday, more specifically, the Patriots
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: history of Miami. For the most part, they play dreadful
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: down there. Give me more than one reason to be optimistic.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: I mean, we talked about it. I mean, it's always
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: tough playing down there, no matter what you had or
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: didn't have, and even some of the best Patriots teams
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: lost down there. It's and that's like, and I just
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: think this team is good at home too, generally. Like,
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: aside from the history, all that's true.
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: The best thing I would say that the Patriots have
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: going for them is Miami is really be to hell.
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: They have a lot of injuries to key play.
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: They are. They were on a record breaking pace offensively
- 1:50:07Speaker 5: for the first like four or five weeks until that
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: Bills game. They had the most yards I think in
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: league history through like three or four games. And now
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: they have definitely, you know, come back down to earth
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: a little bit. But I do wonder from that Eagles game.
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: As good as the Eagles game plan was and as
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: well as well as I think they played defensively, there
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: were some fluky things that happened in that game. You know,
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: Tyreek kill gets one touchdown called back from a holding penalty,
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: he drops another one. And then was it Cedric Wilson
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: that got mauled on the sideline and.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: They face matched on a fourth down play?
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: Yeah, they didn't call it.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: It was a lot of different things. They also had
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: a third down stop that was overturned with a ridiculously
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: soft roughing the passer. So there were a lot of
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: I mean ten penalties to zero, yeah, ten to zero, Like,
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: I don't know if I've ever seen that.
- 1:51:03Speaker 8: No.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: I refed a game once, a youth hockey game, and
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I think it was four to zero, and the coach
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: was apoplectic and he was walking off after the game
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: like he's so mad at me, and he's just holding
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: up like four to zero, four to zero, And I
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: didn't think it sounded that bad, like fourthly, what like
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: you guys are tripping guys, Like, what do you want
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: me to do? Like kind of anyway, Yeah, I just
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: tail from Deuce's.
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: I just don't know if ten to zero is yeah,
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: And if you saw the game and you see like
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: there's a key fourth down in a seventeen seventeen game
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: or a twenty four to seventeen game was something like that.
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: Like people think they got blown out, They didn't really
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: get blown out of the game. It ended with Philadelphia
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: just sort of imposing its will on Miami. Like the
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: last drive, they're just running the clock out up fourteen
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: and they're running Toush pushes, you know, like on every
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: fourth down, and they couldn't.
- 1:51:48Speaker 5: Stoften his media were losing their mind, you know, ban
- 1:51:50Speaker 5: the Toush bush.
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: And did you guys see something I think today about
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: I think it might have been Jim Ersay or something,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: somebody talking about the call.
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: And the call that men get a fine for that.
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's.
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: Like, well the the cults really got scooty.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, they do that every week where they
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: they talk about the the grade the officiating, and they
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: talk about some of the the missed calls and it's
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: a I think it's like collectively bargained that it's it's
- 1:52:18Speaker 5: you basically sign an NDA to be on the call,
- 1:52:20Speaker 5: but yeah, you don't talk about it. I think that
- 1:52:22Speaker 5: that's something you know, they do the pool if we
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: request request a pool reporter to go in and talk
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: to the refs. Then you have that option, I believe
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: is how it works. And usually, like last year, for example,
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: on Thanksgiving with the Hunter Henry play, usually it's it's
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: Reese that get that, that goes and asks the questions
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: for on behalf of everybody. But in general, I do
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: think that there needs to be more transparency about the refereeing,
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: especially late in games if there are questionable calls and uh,
- 1:52:53Speaker 5: you know, the NBA does like the last two minute
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: report where they come out with the last two minutes
- 1:52:58Speaker 5: of the fourth quarter. They have a report of what
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: we got wrong and what we got right, and what
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: we missed, what we didn't miss you know, that sort
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: of thing.
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: And the NBA is a league where they played basketball.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: That's with the hoop and the yeah, the ball and
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: the hoop.
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: Go ahead, Evan.
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: They start tonight. By the way, Celtics's oh yeah, are
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: they going to have a quality team this year? They
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: are going to be pretty darn good.
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: Some in the Celtics media have suggested seventy wins in
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: a sixteen and one record in the playoffs.
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: I mean, some people.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: Might give him that one lose one.
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: All I know is that tonight is Bradley Amos's Nicks
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: against my Celtics. So this is a big game, friend,
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: the Celtics. The Celtics top.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: Something he likes. Huh there's something?
- 1:53:38Speaker 4: Yeah, can you believe that? That's what I would say.
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: Game. And if I have to go to Miami on
- 1:53:44Speaker 5: the plane with Amos for four hours and listen to
- 1:53:46Speaker 5: him talk about how the Knicks beat the Celtics, I'm
- 1:53:48Speaker 5: going to be really miserable.
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: Well, this would be the time of the year that
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: the Knicks would beat the Celtics. I wouldn't worry about it.
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, I gotta get clear. Question in there. Hi, everyone,
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: nice job hosting Deuce. Nice Claire, appreciate it. In question though,
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: as Patriots fans, how would you feel if these three
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: tight end sets are the future of the offense under
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: Bill o'royan.
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: Three tight end sets? No?
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: Thank you, no, no, no, Claire, you're getting crazy on
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: the tight ends, girl, just like three of them.
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: They did that in the Miami game. Remember they came
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: out with three tight ends and they went empty. Added
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: three tight ends.
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: And I'm just like, went with the long game to
- 1:54:23Speaker 4: set up the federal Brown touched out against the Jets.
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: Yeah, what did we set up against the Bills for this.
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: Weekend, and then against the Bills they actually put their
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: fast guys on the field and what do you know,
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: they score season high twenty nine points. So what I
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: did like about how they used their tight ends against
- 1:54:38Speaker 5: Buffalo that they ran a lot of twelve and I
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: think some of it was because of Hunter. Henry's been
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: banged up, so his role kind of was reduced a
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: little bit, but they had They ran twelve with Faroh
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: Brown and Gasiki in the twelve package, and like Faraoh
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: Brown was like your traditional inline tight end and Gasiki
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: was the detached receiver and it allowed you know, Farah
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: Brown should he should get his opportunities to block a
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: little bit like that. That helps them in general if
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: he gets some pass blocking opportunities, whether it's just chipping
- 1:55:05Speaker 5: and then releasing or it's actually staying in and like
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: an extra protector. I like when they do that. And
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: and it still allows them to have a pass catching
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: tight end in the game with Kasiki. But three tight ends,
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: we like, Please, but let's get some guys that can
- 1:55:18Speaker 5: run on the field, thank you.
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: I uh, well, we saw front of the program Jordan
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Reid up without his first mock draft of the year,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: and he has the Patriots going with brock Bowers there, Claire,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: so get some get some brock Blowers in your life
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: and start getting excited for that. I'm sure she's dreading
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: the offseason where the Patriots have no tight ends under contract.
- 1:55:38Speaker 5: I'm not Tyler from No it's a chance to hit
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: the reset.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: I mean I would Ferrell Brown would be available. Tyler
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: from Georgia just said welcome. Going to Denver was tough
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: for me. I kind of like, I.
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: Mean, I I can see that, not so much the.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: Sense of being a fan, and I'm upset. But he's
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: a good player. He's going to Peyton, you know.
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: It's it's that was a good one, especially because it
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: wasn't a ton of mine.
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: No, it just like didn't they didn't want them?
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they didn't want them, Yeah, Greg, Greg Glaizon, it
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: just says Celtics will have a great year. Bruins too.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: There you go, Greg, I read two your emails today.
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: So is that Greg and the building Department. There's different Greg.
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: He usually signs it Greg and the Billiing Department.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: No, but he is in facilities management though.
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: Okay, the Buruns are the Burns are just such a
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: weird Have you watched them at all?
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: They have not played well.
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: No, No, they played pretty well last night the second
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: in the second and third period, but they can't score
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: and they don't generate a ton of office.
- 1:56:34Speaker 5: Their their goaltending is excellent and that that's been carrying them.
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: But they haven't been playing a lot of good offensive
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: teams yet. So let's see if there's you know, a
- 1:56:43Speaker 5: lot more odd man rushes and things like that. But
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: Swaymen and Olmark have have just been lights out. And
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: Montgomery said that before the game yesterday that like they've
- 1:56:52Speaker 5: kind of saved, Like the only reason why we're five
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: and o is because of our goaltending. Is I think
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: what he said.
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: I'm happy to say that I can say Patra now
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: and just just comes off the tongue.
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: Now they keep them, they're better.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: He's had three goals already, Yeah, I'd like to.
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: I mean, it's not just that he scored three goals.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: Like the goal last night was not just like a
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: Van Reensdyke. You know, I don't think I shot off
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: the backboard into the off the guy's pad into the net.
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: You know, he's like speed poke check in the in
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: the defensive zone, splitt in two defenders and going in
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: alone and like it was nasty. That was a good goal.
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: So a lot that goes into those decisions, I imagine,
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: because once you make the choice, he's there, right, and yeah,
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: you know, you don't want to overwhelm him. And he's like,
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: what nineteen years old?
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: Like I can't think he's eighteen nineteen?
- 1:57:32Speaker 4: Is he nineteen?
- 1:57:32Speaker 5: Yeah? But guard's eighteen, Greg, that's right.
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: Well they were talking about but DoD like the better,
- 1:57:39Speaker 4: like the the mother and the sister are like rotating,
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: like staying with him, like like that took like the
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: boy he's like he's eighteen like him, you know.
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: But they uh so we watched behind the bee, right,
- 1:57:54Speaker 5: because like we're diehards, right, so we watched behind the bee,
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: behind the beer. They showed like the roster is vision.
- 1:58:00Speaker 5: At the end of training camp, it was like kind
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: of interesting and basically Don Sweeney was like leading the
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: meeting and he was Bruins GM and he was like
- 1:58:08Speaker 5: what is you asked the coaching staff, like what is
- 1:58:11Speaker 5: your lineup? Like what's your best lineup? And they just
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: gave him like the twenty skaters that they wanted on
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: the lineup, and he was like all right, and then
- 1:58:18Speaker 5: he just like figures out like how to make it
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: work with all the other you know, cap and this
- 1:58:24Speaker 5: and that, and I just wonder, like with the Patriots,
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: like it's the same guy, right, does he just look
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: in the mirror and is like, well, this is my
- 1:58:32Speaker 5: best lineup, but you know this, this and this could
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: happen like I it just it was interesting to see
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: the behind the scenes.
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: We're gonna close it out with one random question. I
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: like this one from Stevie. Random question, But is Marie
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: Matt a Patriots fan? Does he even like football? Does
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: he talk Patriots football with the cast outside of the show?
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: No, don't.
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: It just makes sound good.
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: He just talks. He talks Star Wars.
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: That's it, which David Andrews doesn't like. And that's a
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: that's my first, my first big bone to pick with
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: with David Andrews.
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: But all right, that's gonna do it for us. You've
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: got a meeting now we sure change.

- 1:59:13Speaker 1: listen to me. And tomorrow we got a big announcement

- 1:59:19Speaker 1: So Catch twenty two ten to twelve tomorrow right before
