- 0:49Speaker 1: Seen some of these things over the last year that
- 0:51Speaker 1: I just just jaw dropping.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I think jaw dropping is a there's a perfect description
- 1:01Speaker 2: of it. So we will touch on that today and
- 1:03Speaker 2: we will also run our fingers across the delicate grass
- 1:10Speaker 2: of FIFA's turf war that is happening in New Jersey.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I never thought I'd say the sentence, there's a turf
- 1:16Speaker 2: war in New Jersey. But it's twenty twenty six and
- 1:19Speaker 2: anything as possible. So if you love what you hear

- 1:31Speaker 2: it to a friend, a pal, a loved one, share
- 1:33Speaker 2: it on social media, and together, let's grow the Treehouse show.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Let's also entertaining about that story is and You really
- 1:42Speaker 1: have to be a certain age now to get this reference.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But it'll be the first time they're digging up a
- 1:47Speaker 1: football stadium the turf in New Jersey or New York
- 1:50Speaker 1: and they're not looking for Jimmy Hoffa.
- 1:55Speaker 2: But imagine if they found him in Oh yeah, imagine
- 2:01Speaker 2: their surprise. Oh god. All right, we have to start
- 2:07Speaker 2: with mythical creatures. There's a pair of them that we
- 2:11Speaker 2: need to discuss. One you may not be aware of,
- 2:15Speaker 2: the other you might. So you've heard of hot Girls summer, right, Yeah,
- 2:23Speaker 2: we are now in the middle of Jimothy Summer. This
- 2:27Speaker 2: is my new obsession from last week all through the
- 2:31Speaker 2: weekend up to today. I am obsessed with the short
- 2:36Speaker 2: spine syndrome raccoon from Seattle, nicknamed Jimothy. I have seen
- 2:45Speaker 2: so many deformed raccoon videos over the last handful of days.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And you know what, my life is better for it.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And I think a lot of people feel the same.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And this year has started out very interesting when it
- 2:56Speaker 2: comes to weird animal stories. We had punched the monkey
- 3:00Speaker 2: as a viral sensation, the little monkey in Japan. Oh
- 3:03Speaker 2: that was that was making friends.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Well he got orphaned and you know, yeah, that that
- 3:08Speaker 1: was That was easy Pickens.
- 3:10Speaker 2: It really was. That was that was really easy Pickens.
- 3:12Speaker 2: He's carrying around his little his little monkey plush toy
- 3:15Speaker 2: that he hunts when he's sad that they.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Gave him because no one would hug him and he
- 3:19Speaker 1: needed something. I mean, if you're a zoo and you
- 3:22Speaker 1: have an orphan baby, that's really cute, that's social media gold.
- 3:28Speaker 2: That is that is market take advantage. You're gonna sell
- 3:32Speaker 2: some tickets. Baby. Uh So, yeah, punch the Monkey wasn't
- 3:36Speaker 2: was viral sensation earlier this year, and now for this
- 3:39Speaker 2: summer we get Jimothy.
- 3:41Speaker 3: So I have.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I love how we're not real quick. I love how
- 3:48Speaker 2: we're not even five minutes in and you're already like
- 3:50Speaker 2: burying your face in your hands like the camp. I just,
- 3:52Speaker 2: uh no, it's not that.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It's because when this story first started out, I want
- 3:58Speaker 1: to say, late last week, it was the clickbait of
- 4:02Speaker 1: oh my gosh, they found this mystery creature. I took
- 4:07Speaker 1: one look at the video and was like, that's a
- 4:10Speaker 1: deformed raccoon.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm right there with you. When I first saw
- 4:14Speaker 2: like the little like the headline saying like, oh what
- 4:18Speaker 2: is this chup of cabra chup of cabra spotted in Seattle,
- 4:21Speaker 2: and like, well, I'm gonna be in Seattle soon, so
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'd like to see this. And I look at it
- 4:25Speaker 2: same as you. I'm like, that's not a chup of cabra.
- 4:28Speaker 2: That's just a half a raccoon.
- 4:30Speaker 3: It's a hunchback raccoon.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's quasi coon.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Yeah, And then.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I started I I'm actually trying to cleanse myself and
- 4:47Speaker 1: break away from too much social media and scrolling, so
- 4:51Speaker 1: I have not delved into this one. I've seen a
- 4:54Speaker 1: few videos, and obviously his paws are all funky, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: I saw him like falling off a fence and then
- 5:00Speaker 1: getting back up, and obviously obviously someone has adopted him
- 5:04Speaker 1: and takes good care of him.
- 5:05Speaker 2: It seems like, yeah, So what I have gathered over
- 5:09Speaker 2: the last handful of days is so someone got video
- 5:13Speaker 2: of this deformed raccoon in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, which,
- 5:18Speaker 2: by the way, is the exact neighborhood we will be
- 5:21Speaker 2: staying in again when we visit Seattle, uh in the
- 5:24Speaker 2: very near future.
- 5:25Speaker 3: So hey, then you go, you go find us a
- 5:28Speaker 3: deformed raccoon. That's what we need.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I am on a mission, mother, I am there for
- 5:33Speaker 2: like five weeks. I am going to go on daily
- 5:36Speaker 2: and nightly. Jimothy hunts for fun and and to possibly say, hey,
- 5:41Speaker 2: would you like to come live in a treehouse, little fellow.
- 5:44Speaker 2: We take good care of you. Tray's in need of
- 5:47Speaker 2: a new panty dropper. The position's open. Ri Ip to Daisy.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You you you start walking Jimothy up and down? Uh,
- 5:57Speaker 2: up and down Limon Avenue. Oh my god, you're gonna
- 6:01Speaker 2: need to take cover anyway. So Jimothy, there was a video,
- 6:06Speaker 2: initial video someone snagged at this deformed little raccoon in Seattle,
- 6:11Speaker 2: and it went viral because everyone was obsessed what is
- 6:14Speaker 2: this thing? And then people like us or like, it's raccoon,
- 6:17Speaker 2: It's why are you freaking out? It's not a monster.
- 6:19Speaker 2: And then more layers to this story started to peel
- 6:24Speaker 2: away like an adorable onion. After initial video of him
- 6:29Speaker 2: goes viral, then some other videos popped up where other
- 6:33Speaker 2: people in the neighborhood also had videos of this tiny,
- 6:36Speaker 2: deformed raccoon. And at one point where Jimothy was born
- 6:44Speaker 2: was in this house on this property next door to
- 6:46Speaker 2: somebody who got what I believed to be are the
- 6:48Speaker 2: first videos of baby Jimothy, and they were sharing the
- 6:52Speaker 2: story about how they watched Jimithy grow up and how
- 6:55Speaker 2: his mother and his siblings, because of his deformity, was
- 6:59Speaker 2: limited in his mobility. They would help him. They would
- 7:02Speaker 2: like pick him up and carry him, throw him on
- 7:04Speaker 2: their backs and take him places and keep him from
- 7:06Speaker 2: falling off the fence type stuff. And so they shared
- 7:10Speaker 2: some of those videos, and of course those just fed
- 7:12Speaker 2: right back into the virality of it. And then Jimothy
- 7:16Speaker 2: is just in front of me everywhere I go, and
- 7:19Speaker 2: again I'm okay with that. It's been a nice bright
- 7:22Speaker 2: spot over the last handful of days. But he does
- 7:27Speaker 2: suffer from a short spine syndrome. That is the official,
- 7:32Speaker 2: you know, diagnosis or whatever. And he's not the only
- 7:35Speaker 2: creature that has this. I saw another video I think
- 7:38Speaker 2: it was was it a dog that had it as well,
- 7:43Speaker 2: and kind of the same thing. It looks the same,
- 7:45Speaker 2: it's just different creature, right. So, a rotund raccoon nicknamed
- 7:51Speaker 2: Jimothy has become an unlikely local celebrity in the Ballard
- 7:55Speaker 2: neighborhood of Seattle after videos of him roaming spread across media,
- 8:01Speaker 2: which has inspired fan art, memes and plenty of questions
- 8:06Speaker 2: about the unusually round creature and apparel. I saw just
- 8:12Speaker 2: just two days ago someone selling an AI art generated
- 8:15Speaker 2: T shirt of Jimothy. You know what, America baby cash in.
- 8:22Speaker 2: It's great because it's not like you got to give
- 8:25Speaker 2: Jimothy a cut of any of it. You can't trademarket.
- 8:27Speaker 2: You know, an animal, you just run with it and
- 8:30Speaker 2: just start making money. One social media video narrator asked,
- 8:36Speaker 2: what am I looking at? Oh God? The confounding critter,
- 8:44Speaker 2: spotted in various locations around Ballard, has become recognizable to
- 8:48Speaker 2: residents because of its unusual shape. According to experts, the
- 8:50Speaker 2: raccoon has short spine syndrome, described as a non fatal
- 8:54Speaker 2: deformity that gives this signature odd look. At least one
- 8:56Speaker 2: witness dubbed the animal Jimothy that quickly caught on among
- 9:01Speaker 2: social media users. According to Keana Hall, when asked about
- 9:07Speaker 2: the origin of the nickname, she said, me and my
- 9:09Speaker 2: husband saw him and just like a Jimothy to us. Okay,
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm with you. I think of all the things I
- 9:19Speaker 2: was most curious about, who came up with that name.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and you would hope there's a hidden meeting behind
- 9:27Speaker 1: it that that is funny or.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Deep, not just that's just what we come up with.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean it's like Timothy would be normal, so
- 9:38Speaker 2: he's not normal. So I don't know Jimothy. Yeah, Okay.
- 9:43Speaker 2: The thing I feel bad for is somewhere out there
- 9:45Speaker 2: a kid is being born. Oh, and it's going to
- 9:49Speaker 2: be named Jimothy along and he's going to be in
- 9:53Speaker 2: the same class with Punch, and the teacher is just
- 9:58Speaker 2: going to go, oh my god, here we are. So
- 10:03Speaker 2: now the raccoon's appearance obviously fueled jokes online video also
- 10:07Speaker 2: highlights the affection many people have developed for Jimothy. Social
- 10:11Speaker 2: media users have shared illustrations digital artwork celebrating Jimothy, with
- 10:16Speaker 2: posts reading in Jimothy, In Jimothy, we trust and protect
- 10:21Speaker 2: Jimothy at all costs and one of my personal favorites,
- 10:25Speaker 2: if Jimothy dies, we riot and I'll be right there
- 10:29Speaker 2: on the front lines with you. And the thing is,
- 10:32Speaker 2: he almost did. So the neighbor I told you about
- 10:34Speaker 2: that got like the initial baby photos of him. Huh.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I guess the property owner or whatever went in and
- 10:40Speaker 2: cleared out. The property where Jimothy and his family lived
- 10:43Speaker 2: is like some cedar trees. They cleared it out, and
- 10:46Speaker 2: as they were clearing it out, and it was in
- 10:49Speaker 2: the middle of the day when this equipment came in,
- 10:51Speaker 2: So the raccoons and Jimothy's family they had to move
- 10:54Speaker 2: in the middle of the day. It's obviously raccoon's daylight,
- 10:57Speaker 2: not a typical thing. So this guy that live next
- 11:00Speaker 2: to women saw him grow up, lost track of until
- 11:03Speaker 2: the videos pop back up. So he's just they just
- 11:05Speaker 2: relocated somewhere else in the neighborhood and he's just still
- 11:08Speaker 2: running around now. He's a local celebrity.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But you know, unfortunately, Jimothy will probably meet an early
- 11:16Speaker 1: demise because his ability to escape a predator is very limited.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It looks like, yeah, what typically would go after a
- 11:29Speaker 2: raccoon predator wise.
- 11:32Speaker 1: H anything bigger? I mean, I'm sure it's like attle.
- 11:37Speaker 1: You've got probably mountain lions.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Uh mefed out homeless people might see Jimothy as a
- 11:45Speaker 2: decent snack. That's probably his biggest challenge.
- 11:48Speaker 3: An eagle.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, bear, I do wonder if a bald
- 11:55Speaker 2: eagle's flying over and sees Jimithy AND's like ooh, and
- 11:57Speaker 2: then he gets closer and it's like ooh, Jimothy may
- 12:01Speaker 2: live to be like a hundred because the predators are
- 12:04Speaker 2: like that looks. It's kind of like when I see
- 12:06Speaker 2: a funky looking chicken wing, or my wife sees a
- 12:10Speaker 2: funky looking chicken wing and she's like here this one jeers.
- 12:14Speaker 2: She doesn't want a slightly deformed which she's like that.
- 12:16Speaker 1: You Unfortunately, I think though, to see Jimothy as a
- 12:21Speaker 1: little ball of fat and uh or like a tay yeah.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Oh you know what, I'm in the mood for some
- 12:28Speaker 2: spicy raccoon nugs. Bam, there it is. Yeah yeah. So
- 12:32Speaker 2: on the other side, it may actually be what does
- 12:34Speaker 2: it meant? Because he does look like, you know, popcorn raccoon.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So I have I've been happily distracted the last handful
- 12:44Speaker 2: of days by Jimothy the deformed raccoon, which you know,
- 12:50Speaker 2: for being honest, it's a better name than other names
- 12:52Speaker 2: that you know, you could have called him tardy you
- 12:56Speaker 2: know something, you know more deraged. Tory Corky was high
- 13:02Speaker 2: on my list just because of the kid from you know,
- 13:08Speaker 2: was It? Life goes on?
- 13:11Speaker 3: That's why he doesn't have down syndrome.
- 13:12Speaker 1: He's just like he's more like a Jerry's Kid type thing, you.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Know what, You're right, Yeah, not Jerry from the Treehouse for.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Now.
- 13:26Speaker 1: For those of you who are too young to to
- 13:28Speaker 1: know this, there used to be the Jerry Lewis telethon
- 13:30Speaker 1: There's Kids. Was it Spina bitheta or it was something
- 13:33Speaker 1: like that, and.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, one of Jerry Lewis's uh benefit again.
- 13:40Speaker 1: And that is how you know you really have reached
- 13:42Speaker 1: a certain age when you have references that you really
- 13:45Speaker 1: know some people just of a certain age aren't gonna
- 13:47Speaker 1: get because they they didn't experience the Jerry Lewis telethon,
- 13:50Speaker 1: which and it was a telethon, it lasted the entire weekend.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I mean by the Sunday, Jerry looked absolutely haggard.
- 13:59Speaker 2: He looked it's worse than the kids he was raising
- 14:01Speaker 2: money for. It's like the next like the next after
- 14:05Speaker 2: that telephon's over. The next day the kids start one
- 14:08Speaker 2: for him, just to see if they could keep him
- 14:10Speaker 2: going for the one that they're going to do the
- 14:12Speaker 2: following year. All right, so we're going to go. Now,
- 14:17Speaker 2: I'm going to transition from uh my obsession, the mys
- 14:22Speaker 2: the mythical creature of Jimothy into what appears to be
- 14:27Speaker 2: a mythical creature. In the Brighton area of Michigan, where
- 14:33Speaker 2: I am currently staying, there is a man here who
- 14:37Speaker 2: is a massage therapist, and according to at least two reviewers,
- 14:42Speaker 2: he is a unicorn in the massage community. His name
- 14:48Speaker 2: is Lavelle, and I believe Lavelle is doing things to
- 14:55Speaker 2: his clients that other massage therapists are not doing. I
- 15:01Speaker 2: don't know exactly what that is, but I want you
- 15:04Speaker 2: to listen to a couple of these reviews. Okay, so
- 15:08Speaker 2: quick backstory. After the road trip from New York to Michigan,
- 15:12Speaker 2: you know, like we're a little tied up, you know,
- 15:15Speaker 2: our backs are little. So Tara was looking at massage
- 15:18Speaker 2: places nearby, what's close, what has good reviews? And Lavelle
- 15:22Speaker 2: popped up. Thankfully, she told me about him, as opposed
- 15:27Speaker 2: to going to see him. First review number one, five stars.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Lavelle is hands down the best massage therapist I've ever had.
- 15:38Speaker 2: His strokes and techniques are spot on. I was melting
- 15:43Speaker 2: with every stroke. The warm towels were a nice touch, too.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I feel so relaxed. Review number two from Lily five stars.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Lavelle's massage was so good I drove seventeen minutes in
- 15:59Speaker 2: the wrong direction on my way home. This man is
- 16:04Speaker 2: rocking some bodies in there. She goes on to say,
- 16:06Speaker 2: deeply relaxing, professional, and exactly what my body needed. The
- 16:12Speaker 2: space was clean, calm, and comfortable. I left feeling completely reset.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Highly recommend from Lynn. So much I can say about
- 16:25Speaker 2: Lavell the massage therapist, I'll start with, I've apparently been
- 16:29Speaker 2: under a rock in Brighton, Michigan for the last eleven years.
- 16:32Speaker 2: The deep tissue massage by Lavelle today had me so
- 16:35Speaker 2: relaxed I could have cried. The man's hands have been
- 16:40Speaker 2: touched by God. Only a higher power can yield results
- 16:46Speaker 2: like this. UH amazing experience, the best massage I have
- 16:52Speaker 2: ever had in my life. Without question, I will be
- 16:56Speaker 2: back from Nicole. I have never rebooked with a massage
- 17:02Speaker 2: therapist in my life until I met Lavelle. He is
- 17:06Speaker 2: truly amazing at his craft and I will be back
- 17:09Speaker 2: to see him on repeat. He gives the perfect amount
- 17:13Speaker 2: of pressure in the exact right places, and I honestly
- 17:17Speaker 2: think I had an out of body experience from Lavelle.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Literally can't say enough good things from Rachel. I think
- 17:28Speaker 2: Lavelle must be magical like a unicorn, because he gave
- 17:31Speaker 2: me the best massage of my life. I never write reviews,
- 17:37Speaker 2: but I needed to today because my massage was so
- 17:40Speaker 2: utterly fantastic. See Levelle. You will not be disappointed. His
- 17:46Speaker 2: massage is life changing, so needless, so needless to say.
- 17:52Speaker 2: My wife is not allowed to go see Levelle. Why
- 17:57Speaker 2: I don't want I don't want someone touching her that good.
- 17:59Speaker 2: That's not me. I want her. I look, if she's
- 18:01Speaker 2: gonna be disappointed in a massage, I want it to
- 18:04Speaker 2: be by me. Oh please.
- 18:08Speaker 1: If you don't want her being touched as good as you,
- 18:11Speaker 1: that rules out a lot of places. Hell McDonald's, you'd
- 18:16Speaker 1: be afraid of Ronald Lavelle sounds sounds Why why don't you?
- 18:21Speaker 2: Then?
- 18:21Speaker 3: Why don't you book a massage with him?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Well? You know what, I've actually thought about it? Uh
- 18:26Speaker 2: for two reasons. One let me see for myself, because
- 18:30Speaker 2: I know a good massage, and number two the first
- 18:33Speaker 2: review that I read to you where they said five stars.
- 18:38Speaker 2: His strokes and techniques are spot on melting with every stroke.
- 18:42Speaker 2: That was from a dude named Eric. So maybe I
- 18:46Speaker 2: go first to test the waters that are lavelle, and
- 18:49Speaker 2: then if that's really that good, I just keep them
- 18:51Speaker 2: to myself. Baby, you go get your own unicorn.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Do you feel restless and anxious, feel like something's missing

- 20:16Speaker 2: July twenty second, twenty twenty six. Let's celebrate today with
- 20:21Speaker 2: some birthdays. Co founder of the Eagles and the unmistakable
- 20:31Speaker 2: voice behind classics like Hotel California, The Boys of Summer,
- 20:35Speaker 2: and Dirty Laundry, Dallas's own Don Henley is seventy nine today.
- 20:42Speaker 1: And I will always say, one of the few times
- 20:48Speaker 1: that I say this about our previous experience with the
- 20:51Speaker 1: radio show is one of the best interviews Russ ever
- 20:54Speaker 1: gave and one of the hardest pre interviews I've ever
- 20:58Speaker 1: had to do to tell Don Hill, Hey, he's gonna
- 21:01Speaker 1: make fun of you a little bit, and if you're
- 21:03Speaker 1: not okay with that, we'll call it off.
- 21:06Speaker 2: One of those weird is this real moments that happened
- 21:11Speaker 2: on a semi regular basis back in those days.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And then in an interview, Russ Uh blabbed something about
- 21:19Speaker 1: something a company had done that lost a major advertising
- 21:22Speaker 1: for the station. Yeah, which any of us would have
- 21:26Speaker 1: been fired for.
- 21:28Speaker 2: In a heartbeat, like before the end of the show.
- 21:30Speaker 2: They'd have been like, get out. Yeah, that company was
- 21:34Speaker 2: none too pleased about that. And here's the thing. It
- 21:37Speaker 2: wasn't all him. It was a good junk Don Hendley's vault,
- 21:41Speaker 2: if I remember right, kind of. It wasn't a back
- 21:44Speaker 2: and forth thing with that well.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But it was Russ that said the name of the
- 21:47Speaker 1: company and that a friend who had worked for him
- 21:51Speaker 1: had like faxed him over a copy of the receipt.
- 21:54Speaker 2: So oh, that's right. Okay, this is why we need
- 21:58Speaker 2: each other for some of these men rebased things because
- 22:01Speaker 2: some stuff I don't remember. Well, I don't remember a
- 22:03Speaker 2: lot of stuff very well, but some stuff, like certain
- 22:05Speaker 2: details are foggy. But I remember the company being pissed off,
- 22:08Speaker 2: and I remember Don Henley being in the in the
- 22:10Speaker 2: background of it. Anyway, Don Henley seventy nine today. Other
- 22:16Speaker 2: birthdays today's actually some pretty interesting ones. Rehyse Efens is
- 22:19Speaker 2: fifty nine. He is known for being the gross blonde
- 22:22Speaker 2: guy that is Hugh Grant's roommate in Nodding Hill. He's
- 22:27Speaker 2: also in the Amazing Spider Man House of the Dragon
- 22:31Speaker 2: and Trey and I probably know him best as the
- 22:34Speaker 2: kicker in the movie The Replacements, the one who uses
- 22:37Speaker 2: cigarette smoke to judge the wind before he gets no.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I He'll always be a notting Hill guy for me,
- 22:45Speaker 1: more than anything else interesting.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I look, I don't know if you're on The Replacements
- 22:50Speaker 2: bandwagon the way I am.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Oh, I hate the movie.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Okay, that's right, your opposite man, whatever, you you just
- 22:56Speaker 2: don't like fun stuff. The Replacements is a really, really,
- 22:59Speaker 2: really fun sports movie.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Listen.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Because I have recently I have gone back and watched
- 23:05Speaker 1: things that I have totally one eighty changed my opinion on.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I am going to watch The Replacements again and give
- 23:11Speaker 1: it another shot.
- 23:13Speaker 2: What was it that you hated about it the first time?
- 23:15Speaker 3: I just thought it was stupid.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Besides that, I mean, give me more than that trade
- 23:23Speaker 2: strokes here. Yeah, I mean it's it's it's kind of
- 23:26Speaker 2: a silly movie. It's kind of a silly premise. But
- 23:28Speaker 2: things like that have happened where you it felt it.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Fell at the stupid level of like forty year old
- 23:38Speaker 1: Virgin and Elf. For me, it was just over the
- 23:41Speaker 1: top too much. I just I don't know why, it
- 23:44Speaker 1: just it did not hit with me at all. But
- 23:48Speaker 1: I am going to go back, although I you know,
- 23:51Speaker 1: I have watched the other two movies since then, and
- 23:53Speaker 1: I confirmed that I hate them. But I am going
- 23:57Speaker 1: to give the replacements another shot and see if I
- 24:01Speaker 1: change my mind.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Just let go, just just sit there and just enjoy
- 24:07Speaker 2: it for what it is, because I mean, this is
- 24:09Speaker 2: a movie that's somewhat based in some realities. You know.
- 24:14Speaker 2: It's NFL players and owners go on strike, sorry NFL,
- 24:19Speaker 2: and then they bring in the scabs to play, and
- 24:21Speaker 2: they get this team together, coached by Gene Hackman, the
- 24:25Speaker 2: guy that's basically just channeling Tom Landry with the hat
- 24:30Speaker 2: and stuff. And you bring in Shane Falco. Look he's
- 24:37Speaker 2: look in made up terms. Shane Falco, the quarterback played
- 24:42Speaker 2: by of course Keanu Reeves. A name like Shane Falco
- 24:45Speaker 2: in books and movies and television is going to be
- 24:49Speaker 2: one of two things, legendary sports person like a quarterback,
- 24:54Speaker 2: or just an outright love making machine god type in
- 25:00Speaker 2: some romance novel. Anyway, And actually I don't know if
- 25:06Speaker 2: it was just a pr stunt kind of a thing.
- 25:08Speaker 2: But the Baltimore Ravens were so impressed by what they
- 25:13Speaker 2: saw out of Keanu Reeves doing his quarterback training and
- 25:16Speaker 2: everything with the film. They actually invited him to training
- 25:21Speaker 2: camp and he's like, damn good.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, this is one of those interesting things. Do you
- 25:28Speaker 1: remember how bad the play was during the NFL strike?
- 25:35Speaker 3: Oh?
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it was god awful. I mean, oh, it is terrible.
- 25:38Speaker 2: That's why I said it's loosely based.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it was just I mean, there were
- 25:43Speaker 1: a few players that from the strike that made it
- 25:47Speaker 1: into the NFL, but for the most part, god, it
- 25:49Speaker 1: was bad. Yeah, and that is why you know, now
- 25:54Speaker 1: it'll be forty years next year you've never seen another
- 25:57Speaker 1: strike because even everyone knows that will not go over well.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, the drop off is going to be too severe.
- 26:07Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, the people in that cast. On
- 26:09Speaker 2: the replacements, you've got Gene Hacken who as the coach,
- 26:11Speaker 2: Keanu Reeves as the quarterback, Jon Favreau as the unhinged
- 26:16Speaker 2: middle linebacker who's also a police officer. Opposite. I don't
- 26:20Speaker 2: know the actor's name, but the guy that they got
- 26:22Speaker 2: out of prison to play strong safety Yet Orlando Jones
- 26:27Speaker 2: playing wide receiver Reese Eifen's the kicker who used the
- 26:31Speaker 2: cigarette smoke to judge the wind. I love that movie
- 26:34Speaker 2: and I'm proud of it. Other birthdays today. David Spade
- 26:37Speaker 2: sixty two, former Saturday Night Live cast member, then of
- 26:41Speaker 2: course star of films like Tommy Boy, Joe Dirt, Just
- 26:45Speaker 2: Shoot Me and one of me and Trey's personal favorites.
- 26:47Speaker 2: One of the greatest movies, one of the greatest underrated
- 26:50Speaker 2: movies of all time.
- 26:52Speaker 3: PCU Oh.
- 26:55Speaker 2: He was such a good, sniveling, preppy snot kid in
- 26:59Speaker 2: that movie. We got not only also also Real Quick
- 27:04Speaker 2: co starring Jon Favreau from The Replacements Jon Favreau.
- 27:09Speaker 1: That movie is so good and and it ironically it
- 27:15Speaker 1: hits so hard today and it is a shame that
- 27:20Speaker 1: they have not figured out the streaming rights on that.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Yeah, because there are two movies that when you watch
- 27:26Speaker 2: them that are old, like twenty twenty five years old
- 27:29Speaker 2: at this point, that when you watch them they feel
- 27:33Speaker 2: almost like a documentary type dramatization. One is, of course, Idiocracy.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Everyone points to that one. The other one, though, is PCU.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Oh, And I mean, what what was they were lampooning
- 27:48Speaker 1: in an outlandish way. With some of the protests and
- 27:51Speaker 1: everything else has come to fruition.
- 27:54Speaker 2: It really has. Like in that movie, all the all
- 27:57Speaker 2: the different kids are protesting all these different things, all
- 27:59Speaker 2: these different causes, and they we're actually having them now.
- 28:03Speaker 2: It's great. Danny Glover is eighty today, sadly still still
- 28:10Speaker 2: too old for this stuff.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Wait, he just announced he has Alzheimer's.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, starred the Lethal Weapon films, of course, also in
- 28:16Speaker 2: the Color Purple Angels in the Outfield. Danny Glover eighty today.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Willem Dafoe four time Oscar nominee. How was he not
- 28:25Speaker 2: one one? Willem Dafoe seventy one, one of.
- 28:29Speaker 1: In my opinion, one of the under rated actors of
- 28:33Speaker 1: our time.
- 28:34Speaker 2: And he shouldn't be. It's a tragedy that he's underrated anything.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Because look that last Spider Man movie that came out
- 28:42Speaker 2: where you had the three Spider Man all in the
- 28:44Speaker 2: same movie. Willem Dafoe still stole the shows as the
- 28:51Speaker 2: brought back to life Green Goblin. He is so so good.
- 28:57Speaker 1: He just plays such a unique He's just so unique
- 29:02Speaker 1: in his acting and in his delivery that I there's
- 29:07Speaker 1: very few things that I've ever seen him and that I.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Have not enjoyed.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Yeah, some of the ones he's known for the best
- 29:13Speaker 2: for his Oscar nominations Platoon. I think this here says
- 29:17Speaker 2: he was Oscar nominated for Spider Man The Lighthouse, that
- 29:21Speaker 2: was opposite Robert Pattinson. Poor Things. Tara and I watched
- 29:27Speaker 2: that a couple of years ago. Loved that movie. Very weird,
- 29:30Speaker 2: but love that movie. Actually, No, I think it's just
- 29:36Speaker 2: I think on the prep service here it's like he's
- 29:37Speaker 2: been nominated for an Oscar four times, but that he's
- 29:40Speaker 2: known for some of these in Platoon, wo god, that movie,
- 29:45Speaker 2: My God. And one more I'll throw at you. Legendary
- 29:50Speaker 2: British actor known for Superman, The Limey Queen of the Desert,
- 29:57Speaker 2: Terrence Stamp is eighty eight today Origeneral General Zod at
- 30:02Speaker 2: least as far as at least as far as the
- 30:04Speaker 2: movie's okay, Terrence stamp eighty eight.
- 30:12Speaker 1: And that's one of those guys I know, Uh, I
- 30:15Speaker 1: know he's been in a lot of things that had
- 30:17Speaker 1: a very acclaimed actor, but that General Zod is you know,
- 30:20Speaker 1: you could list them on you go General Oh, okay,
- 30:22Speaker 1: I mean it's like like Alex Guinnis was was a
- 30:25Speaker 1: a knighted actor. I mean he he was fantastic. Yeah,
- 30:31Speaker 1: you could lift off, list off a bunch of a
- 30:33Speaker 1: bunch of things. Then you go obi wan. Oh okay,
- 30:36Speaker 1: got it.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yeah. See that's where like our parents might have looked
- 30:41Speaker 2: at us, like really, come on, like all these all
- 30:43Speaker 2: these people were known for these things. Now it's obi
- 30:45Speaker 2: wan dad. And if I if I read this right,
- 30:50Speaker 2: like Alec Ginnis, like you said to play obi wan. Uh.
- 30:55Speaker 2: George Lucas kind of backed up the truck a little
- 30:57Speaker 2: bit to him, is like we need this guy, we
- 30:58Speaker 2: need you. He saw it as like a silly space
- 31:02Speaker 2: soap opera thingy and he's like, I'll do it. But
- 31:05Speaker 2: he also demanded a percentage, I believe, of the box
- 31:09Speaker 2: office and he got it. So good play on Sir
- 31:13Speaker 2: Alec Guinness's part.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I saw something the other day speaking of George Lucas
- 31:19Speaker 1: that in Et Spielberg threw in a Yoda figure somewhere
- 31:26Speaker 1: in there and in return in I was at the
- 31:32Speaker 1: Phantom Menace, I'm not sure one of the big Senate
- 31:35Speaker 1: scene there where you have all the different aliens in
- 31:39Speaker 1: there that they panned through it and they go, there's
- 31:41Speaker 1: an et et species in there.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, I saw that the original the
- 31:46Speaker 2: first time. The first time I saw the movie was
- 31:49Speaker 2: in the theater, and uh, when that scene happens, I
- 31:52Speaker 2: just happened to be looking around, and it happened really fast.
- 31:56Speaker 2: So it was a little bit of questioning, did I
- 32:00Speaker 2: did I just see et in the Galactic Senate? And
- 32:05Speaker 2: so when I watched it again, that was one of
- 32:07Speaker 2: the things I made sure to look for because I
- 32:09Speaker 2: went back to the theater to see it again because
- 32:11Speaker 2: I wanted to see the Lightsaber duel again, and also
- 32:13Speaker 2: because I wanted to see if I actually did see
- 32:16Speaker 2: a tiny et And yeah I did. I love that. Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I mean you talk about just a little but little
- 32:24Speaker 2: easter egg right in the middle of.
- 32:25Speaker 1: There, two brilliant minds who are responsible for some of
- 32:34Speaker 1: the greatest entertainment of our generations, basically just screwing with everybody.
- 32:38Speaker 3: You do this, I'll do this.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah, they're having fun with each other. Huh, And we're
- 32:44Speaker 2: all just kind of along for the ride, sitting around
- 32:47Speaker 2: watching a movie about star Wars and lightsabers, and all
- 32:50Speaker 2: of a sudden, you're like The only thing better would
- 32:56Speaker 2: have been if the et in the Galactic Senate was
- 32:59Speaker 2: actually eating some.
- 33:02Speaker 3: And on.
- 33:10Speaker 2: And itkin opens up the closet. This segment of the

- 33:50Speaker 2: Am I the a hole for not paying the bill?
- 33:54Speaker 2: The bill I received from a man after ending things
- 33:57Speaker 2: with him after two dates. You know, the idea of
- 34:02Speaker 2: being reimbursed for dates is so foreign to me, something
- 34:08Speaker 2: I never would have thought of in my single life.
- 34:12Speaker 2: But it's it's twenty twenty six, and you know what
- 34:18Speaker 2: men are doing things differently?
- 34:20Speaker 3: Well, I have seen two different aspects of this, you know.
- 34:25Speaker 1: The one thing I've seen is that women expecting a
- 34:29Speaker 1: man or sending a man a bill before the dates
- 34:32Speaker 1: even happened.
- 34:33Speaker 3: For reimburbursement for them getting ready for said date.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Oh God, which I would be like, okay, yeah, no
- 34:44Speaker 1: need to go on this date.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope you can cancel that appointment and get
- 34:49Speaker 2: a deposit back because we're not going now.
- 34:52Speaker 3: And I don't understand the same.
- 34:56Speaker 1: It's to me, this is like into a restaurant, eating
- 35:01Speaker 1: a meal and then wanting to send it back because
- 35:02Speaker 1: you didn't like it.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, the idea. And I've seen some of those
- 35:09Speaker 2: as well, where it's you know, guys not getting what
- 35:12Speaker 2: they wanted on a date, so they send a Venmo
- 35:15Speaker 2: request or a Zell request saying, hey, pay me back
- 35:18Speaker 2: for your half of the meal or the evening whatever.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And then the flip side, women saying like, especially if
- 35:26Speaker 2: they got blown off by the date or got no showed,
- 35:30Speaker 2: they send a bill and say, hey, you know, I
- 35:32Speaker 2: did all this to get ready for this date and
- 35:34Speaker 2: you didn't even show up, So send me some cares.
- 35:36Speaker 3: No.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I mean I've seen it where women are like, no,
- 35:38Speaker 1: I fully expect they expect the guy to reimburse them
- 35:43Speaker 1: for them getting ready for the date, you know, after
- 35:46Speaker 1: they've gone on the date, just that their presence alone
- 35:50Speaker 1: merits them getting reimbursed, and these are dates they went on.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I would actually maybe have a little bit of empathy
- 35:58Speaker 1: for a woman if she spent a bunch of money
- 36:00Speaker 1: to get ready for a date and the guy no
- 36:02Speaker 1: showed or blew or off. But no, these are these
- 36:05Speaker 1: are just they went on the date and literally they
- 36:08Speaker 1: started off like here, can you send me this?
- 36:11Speaker 3: It's like pre date expenses.
- 36:16Speaker 2: You. Uh, I think, Look, I have no experience with
- 36:25Speaker 2: the financial transaction of dating the way some people are
- 36:30Speaker 2: treating it these days. But if you're already introducing this
- 36:38Speaker 2: type of stuff before you even gone on your first date, man,
- 36:43Speaker 2: that's that's that's just not enjoyable for anybody. Now it's
- 36:46Speaker 2: just a business transaction because at this point, uh, you're
- 36:51Speaker 2: just kind of telling me that this is not a
- 36:54Speaker 2: romantic thing anymore. This is now a transaction, and in
- 36:59Speaker 2: as action, I'm going to expect something.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Well exactly, And it reminds me of this point of
- 37:11Speaker 1: especially as you get older at a certain point. Yeah,
- 37:15Speaker 1: if you want all that and you want me to
- 37:18Speaker 1: cough up money just for you to go on a date,
- 37:20Speaker 1: tell me why I'm not better off just going to
- 37:22Speaker 1: get an escort and having a guaranteed pleasurable night.
- 37:27Speaker 2: And the bill is just one bill, and I know
- 37:32Speaker 2: what I'm getting is guaranteed.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you're asking me to cough up a bunch of
- 37:37Speaker 1: money just to start off the night with you, no
- 37:41Speaker 1: telling where it's going to end. And chances are if
- 37:43Speaker 1: you're hitting me with a bill, it's going in poorly.
- 37:46Speaker 2: You're probably not going to be nearly as delightful as Delilah.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yeah Jesus.
- 37:53Speaker 2: And these are things that people don't think about. And
- 37:55Speaker 2: same thing with the guys. It's like, dude, it's such
- 37:59Speaker 2: a small well, it's a tiny I'm getting here to say,
- 38:03Speaker 2: it's such a tiny person thing to be so butt
- 38:07Speaker 2: hurt after a date because she didn't like you or
- 38:10Speaker 2: something and it didn't go anywhere that you send a
- 38:13Speaker 2: you know, a bill like give me, give me money
- 38:15Speaker 2: for half of Petty, and it's petty.
- 38:17Speaker 3: I like Petty.
- 38:18Speaker 1: At a certain point, I'm all for it, but then
- 38:21Speaker 1: it goes too far.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, So the lady writes this happened two days ago,
- 38:27Speaker 2: and I still can't stop thinking about how crazy it
- 38:30Speaker 2: is me. Thirty three female met a guy, thirty two
- 38:32Speaker 2: male on hinge went On a first date with him,
- 38:34Speaker 2: we went to an outdoor market that was happening downtown,
- 38:37Speaker 2: lots of shops and vendors, and he asked if I
- 38:39Speaker 2: wanted to get anything to eat or drink. I suggested
- 38:41Speaker 2: ice cream, but he said too hot out where we
- 38:44Speaker 2: live right now, and after ordering mine, he offers to
- 38:46Speaker 2: pay without ordering anything for himself. I assumed he was
- 38:50Speaker 2: also getting something and then insisted on paying for my own,
- 38:52Speaker 2: but he refused. After this, went to a bar forer
- 38:55Speaker 2: some Drinksquare ordered a drink, and then he proceeded to
- 38:57Speaker 2: order a pepsi. Again, I insisted on paying because my
- 39:00Speaker 2: drink was substantially more expensive than his, but he refused.
- 39:04Speaker 2: One week later, we go on another date, dinner his
- 39:06Speaker 2: suggestion to a burger restaurant. After we order, he tells
- 39:09Speaker 2: the waitress that he has a coupon for his birthday,
- 39:11Speaker 2: so his meal's free. As the meal went on, I
- 39:15Speaker 2: knew that I was not going to want to continue
- 39:17Speaker 2: seeing him, so I had already decided I would be
- 39:20Speaker 2: paying for my own dinner, as I would feel guilty
- 39:23Speaker 2: having him pay for me when I was planning on
- 39:25Speaker 2: breaking things off. While I was in the bathroom, He
- 39:27Speaker 2: flagged the waiter down paid for my meal before I
- 39:29Speaker 2: could get back to the table without discussing it first.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I didn't feel super comfortable telling him that I didn't
- 39:35Speaker 2: want to continue seeing him in person, so I waited
- 39:37Speaker 2: until I got home and didn't send him a text
- 39:38Speaker 2: telling him I just didn't feel a connection between us
- 39:41Speaker 2: and didn't want to continue to see him if I
- 39:43Speaker 2: didn't see it going anywhere. He then replies, thanking me
- 39:45Speaker 2: for telling him that, and asking me to send him
- 39:47Speaker 2: an E transfer for the total amount that he spent
- 39:50Speaker 2: on me during our two dates, stating that he is
- 39:52Speaker 2: a graduate student and every dollar counts. Am I the
- 39:56Speaker 2: a hole if I don't send the money.
- 39:59Speaker 3: No, absolutely not, because if he insisted on paying.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, first of all, a coupon on a date, come on, man,
- 40:13Speaker 1: I mean, if you're out with your buddies, you're by yourself, yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 1: go for it. But on a date, especially a first
- 40:21Speaker 1: couple of dates. I mean, it's one thing if if
- 40:22Speaker 1: it's you've been together for a long time, but in
- 40:25Speaker 1: the in the courting stage, don't use a coupon ever, ever, ever, ever.
- 40:32Speaker 2: But unless unless it is something that is so important
- 40:36Speaker 2: to you like you are just frugal by nature, right,
- 40:41Speaker 2: and it's so important to save some money. It's sort
- 40:44Speaker 2: of like your test on a date. Be like, I'm
- 40:46Speaker 2: gonna throw down this coupon. If she's got a problem
- 40:48Speaker 2: with it, then she's not the woman for me.
- 40:49Speaker 1: It would be one thing if it's like a coupon
- 40:51Speaker 1: for a helicopter ride around the city or something like that.
- 40:56Speaker 3: But for a burger.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you there for the restaurant like that,
- 41:03Speaker 2: like if if you if, dude, if you can get
- 41:05Speaker 2: a free app coupon at Albernez or something, yeah, throw
- 41:08Speaker 2: that down. But not not at like village burger bar.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Right, I mean no, If you're going bowling and you
- 41:16Speaker 1: have a coupon for buy one game, get one.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Free, sure, hang on, honey, I got this, throw down
- 41:23Speaker 2: the coupon free shoes.
- 41:26Speaker 1: But yeah, for a burger at a restaurant, eh, that's
- 41:33Speaker 1: for your birthday?
- 41:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Oh Now, if you're doing it just to sort of
- 41:44Speaker 2: troll on the date or something, okay, that's one thing.
- 41:47Speaker 2: But yeah, genuinely saying hey, I spend all this money
- 41:50Speaker 2: on you when you insisted on spending it, that's your fault, dude, like,
- 41:55Speaker 2: this one's so clear cut. I'm surprised that she went
- 41:58Speaker 2: online to ask input from strangers, because this one doesn't
- 42:02Speaker 2: seem like you would need a whole lot of input
- 42:04Speaker 2: from people you don't know. This one seems like a
- 42:06Speaker 2: slam dunk. You are not the able, but the dude
- 42:09Speaker 2: certainly is.
- 42:10Speaker 1: No, especially if if she went to the bathroom and
- 42:14Speaker 1: he flagged down the server and paid him because he
- 42:18Speaker 1: clearly wanted to kind of be big time. Yeah, no,
- 42:23Speaker 1: that's it's all on you, dude, and you deserve nothing.
- 42:29Speaker 2: You get nothing. Honestly, that's exactly the same thing that
- 42:33Speaker 2: happened to me yesterday. We went to dinner with Tara's
- 42:36Speaker 2: dad and his girlfriend and my father in law snuck
- 42:40Speaker 2: off to the bathroom and snagged the bill before we
- 42:42Speaker 2: could even fight over it. And this is for pizza.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Clearly he wanted to pay for it. And you know what,
- 42:48Speaker 2: at a certain point, it's not it's like, oh, no,
- 42:51Speaker 2: you shouldn't have done that, Let me pay for it. Well,
- 42:53Speaker 2: you already paid for it. It's like, oh, he's already
- 42:55Speaker 2: done it. There's nothing I could do about it. So
- 42:57Speaker 2: at the end of the day, I just kind of
- 42:59Speaker 2: tipped my hat to him and say, you know what,
- 43:00Speaker 2: well played, good job, you know what? That was something
- 43:03Speaker 2: and thank you something.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I actually, every once in a while Brandy would be like, hey,
- 43:08Speaker 1: let me pay for this. It was nice and I
- 43:11Speaker 1: am like, okay, sure, but that's in a relationship. But
- 43:17Speaker 1: like I said, first, first couple of dates, you know,
- 43:24Speaker 1: especially in this day and age, you know you're buying
- 43:26Speaker 1: a lottery ticket and there's a good chance it's not
- 43:30Speaker 1: going to get any return, so just eat it and
- 43:33Speaker 1: move on.
- 43:35Speaker 2: That's also the sign of a good date.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Eat it and move on.
- 43:41Speaker 4: Uh huh, cheese, Actually.
- 43:59Speaker 1: That would if there was cheese, eat it and move
- 44:01Speaker 1: on would would be the appropriate move a good date.
- 44:05Speaker 1: I guess you're gonna eat, eat it and stick around.
- 44:07Speaker 2: That is true. Yeah, you might spit it out then
- 44:10Speaker 2: move on. All right? For all things Treehouse Treehouse on
