Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike. Lane, you fall in overtime in Tampa 4-3
- 0:05Speaker 1: a couple of nights ago in a game that saw
- 0:07Speaker 1: some comebacks. You lose Brandon Montour, but you were able
- 0:10Speaker 1: to salvage a point out of that game. Just take
- 0:13Speaker 1: us through your overall thoughts and where you felt the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Kraken maybe could have given you a little bit more
- 0:17Speaker 1: in that contest.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't like our game overall to a certain degree.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I liked our comeback. I liked our fight.
- 0:26Speaker 3: But I didn't like.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Our speed to our game, our pressure, our gaps, I
- 0:33Speaker 2: thought we were off, maybe not as off as we
- 0:37Speaker 2: were against the Vegas team in Seattle, but certainly.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I think we can be better.
- 0:43Speaker 1: What does that type of performance say about your team,
- 0:46Speaker 1: that when you don't have your best, when you are
- 0:48Speaker 1: making those mistakes, you're able to salvage a point? Can
- 0:51Speaker 1: you take any solace in that fact, at least?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and certainly I think that you know, you can
- 0:59Speaker 2: look at our goaltender and we solved it at point
- 1:02Speaker 2: because Phil Grubauer was outstanding right from the first save
- 1:05Speaker 2: that he made.
- 1:07Speaker 3: You know, we've got to be better than that helping
- 1:09Speaker 3: him out.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You don't have any update as you talked about this
- 1:11Speaker 1: morning from Brandon Montour. You do call up Ty Nelson.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Whether or not he plays this evening, what have you
- 1:17Speaker 1: liked about his game and what does he bring to
- 1:19Speaker 1: a lineup? What has earned him this call up?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Well, he's been very good down there. He's had a
- 1:23Speaker 2: couple of good training camps since I've been here. Very
- 1:26Speaker 2: good this year in training camp. He skates well And, you.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Know, he can join and add to the offense.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You know, so obviously, you know, we are on a
- 1:39Speaker 2: long trip here in case something happens. You know, he's
- 1:45Speaker 2: going to go in the lineup, but we'll see what
- 1:47Speaker 2: happens with our health.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Trip's not over.
- 1:50Speaker 1: You've got one more game here tonight, but what have
- 1:51Speaker 1: you learned about your team on these first four games
- 1:54Speaker 1: that maybe you didn't know going in, or what has
- 1:58Speaker 1: pleasantly surprised you about this group the last few games?
- 2:02Speaker 2: I don't think, for me anyways, I don't think there's
- 2:05Speaker 2: anything that I didn't know or anything that surprised me.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I expect to win every game, and that's the mindset
- 2:14Speaker 2: and that's the mentality, and I think that we've had
- 2:18Speaker 2: some good contributions. We know we have to be a
- 2:21Speaker 2: four-line team, and we know we have to be solid
- 2:25Speaker 2: in nets, and our defense has to, you know, play solid, and,
- 2:30Speaker 2: you know, I think that some of the guys here
- 2:32Speaker 2: on the back end, whether it be Dunn or Larson,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know, Montour, these guys have logged a lot of
- 2:37Speaker 2: minutes on this trip, you know, and we, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: I don't know that we can continue to grind them
- 2:45Speaker 2: out with 28 minutes a night, I think that's going
- 2:47Speaker 2: to be a recipe for not success at some point.
- 2:50Speaker 3: But certainly I think that those guys have done a
- 2:53Speaker 3: great job.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And I think we've done a really good job in
- 2:56Speaker 2: balancing with our four lines and keeping our ice time
- 2:59Speaker 2: pretty decent with our forwards.
- 3:00Speaker 1: This morning you talked about how this Florida team is hard.
- 3:03Speaker 1: They do everything hard. They're tough to play against. They
- 3:06Speaker 1: check well. They can score a lot of goals. What
- 3:08Speaker 1: is going to be the game plan for you to
- 3:09Speaker 1: mitigate a lot of what Florida can do?
- 3:12Speaker 2: Well, we're going to have to battle. There's individual battles
- 3:16Speaker 2: out there that have to be won, and that's a mindset.
- 3:18Speaker 2: That's a personal, individual mindset within the team concept.
- 3:23Speaker 3: We're going to have to be tight. Our gaps are tight.
- 3:26Speaker 3: We can't give them too much respect. It's just going
- 3:31Speaker 3: to be a war.
