Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to an exciting new era of No Drivel,
- 0:11Speaker 1: the podcast where we talk about netball, but we talk
- 0:13Speaker 1: about so much more. We've got new theme music, a
- 0:17Speaker 1: new home studio. It's exciting on so many levels. The
- 0:20Speaker 1: biggest one, of course, is that Lizzellis is.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Remembered to join us today.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We'll ask you to account for yourself in a moment,
- 0:29Speaker 1: but first of all, let me introduce myself. I'm Carolyn Swindell, comedian,
- 0:33Speaker 1: author and ePol tragic and I'm in Sydney and our
- 0:36Speaker 1: new home studio designed by the one and only Captain Cox,
- 0:38Speaker 1: who's sitting right beside me.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I do love that you've brought the lollies though, and
- 0:43Speaker 3: the hot beverages, so I'm here for it.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Hi.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Everyone, I had an epic fail in the car on
- 0:48Speaker 3: the way. I'll tell you about soon, but I want
- 0:49Speaker 3: to hear about Lizzellis and her excuses.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Oh dear, Hi, I'm Liz, I'm here, yay, I died
- 0:56Speaker 5: in yay. Okay, that's one tick I remember.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Because we did have a few worried people two weeks ago.
- 1:03Speaker 2: The cat that I went worried. But we were curious
- 1:06Speaker 2: because it's.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Like you're very reliable usually, which is you know why
- 1:10Speaker 1: we're nominating you for governor general. Not anymore, that's the
- 1:14Speaker 1: ticket I assume though. If your governor general, you get
- 1:17Speaker 1: someone to help you manage your diary.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yes, I needed people, you know, like my people will
- 1:23Speaker 4: talk to your people. Well, two weeks ago when I
- 1:26Speaker 4: was supposed to Darling, we're doing it on a different day.
- 1:28Speaker 4: So if it's not on a Monday, it falls out
- 1:30Speaker 4: of my head. And I didn't put it in my diary,
- 1:32Speaker 4: and don't if anyone else is like this, it was
- 1:34Speaker 4: not in my diary. I don't care how many conversations
- 1:36Speaker 4: I've had, it doesn't happen. And when we change the
- 1:38Speaker 4: days around. When you were traveling, Carolyn, I just forgot
- 1:42Speaker 4: and we're out. Matthew and I were out feeding the
- 1:45Speaker 4: cows because we've got a herd of cattle up on
- 1:47Speaker 4: one heel that have just had babies, so I like
- 1:49Speaker 4: to go and look at their babies. And I got
- 1:51Speaker 4: back in the car and I saw I had a
- 1:52Speaker 4: miscall from Catherine. I was like, oh, okay, I'll call
- 1:55Speaker 4: Coxy back when what she's calling me for.
- 1:56Speaker 5: I'll call them back when.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I when I get back to the house. So I
- 2:00Speaker 4: got back to the house and I picked up the
- 2:01Speaker 4: phone and there was a message that said are you okay?
- 2:03Speaker 4: And I'm like, well, would I not be okay? I'm fine,
- 2:06Speaker 4: I'm great. I'm out playing with the cows. And then
- 2:08Speaker 4: I ran Catherine.
- 2:09Speaker 5: She goes, are you okay? And I'm like, I'm fine.
- 2:12Speaker 5: Why wouldn't I be?
- 2:12Speaker 4: She's like, we had our podcast recording and I was like, oh.
- 2:19Speaker 3: We had spoken about it the day before. She said,
- 2:23Speaker 3: just confirming we're on for Tuesdays. You wanted an idiot,
- 2:27Speaker 3: because it very rarely happens.
- 2:29Speaker 5: I know, I'm such an idiot.
- 2:31Speaker 4: And you know what, I've got a lot going on
- 2:33Speaker 4: at the moment with Neddie and like all good things, right, Like,
- 2:36Speaker 4: I am so distracted at the moment. You know when
- 2:38Speaker 4: you're really distracted and your kids talk to you and
- 2:40Speaker 4: you go and they asked you a question, and you go,
- 2:45Speaker 4: they go, Mam, I asked you a question, not even listening. No, no,
- 2:48Speaker 4: I am listening, and then they you know, then they
- 2:50Speaker 4: test you and of course you're not listening. And the
- 2:52Speaker 4: dumbest thing I did. So the same week that I
- 2:55Speaker 4: forgot to Darli had so much in my head. I
- 2:58Speaker 4: went to the supermarket and you know the self service checkouts.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I went through and I thought I'd paid and I
- 3:07Speaker 4: walked out. As I walked out, this lady goes, excuse me,
- 3:09Speaker 4: excuse me, excuse me. I said, yeah, excause you haven't paid, like, oh.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Oh my god. I love this version of them, Oh
- 3:23Speaker 6: my god.
- 3:24Speaker 4: And it was like, you know the Walk of Shame
- 3:26Speaker 4: when you're twenty, Well, this is a fifty year old
- 3:29Speaker 4: version of the Walk of Shame. I had to walk
- 3:31Speaker 4: back in with my groceries and pay for them. It
- 3:34Speaker 4: was so mortifying. It's the most embarrassing thing that's happened
- 3:38Speaker 4: to me in a long time.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Care of Netball Australia, former Captain of the Australian Diamonds,
- 3:44Speaker 1: the multiple gold medalist, petty criminal shoplift. I didn't have
- 3:49Speaker 1: this on my bingo car for you this year is
- 3:51Speaker 1: but I like it.
- 3:53Speaker 6: Oh.
- 3:53Speaker 5: I was mortified. And I didn't even shoplift like I
- 3:55Speaker 5: was going to shoplift. I't do it properly.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the bottle shop. Hey, I have a question
- 4:02Speaker 3: for you if we can backtrack just quickly. When you
- 4:04Speaker 3: say you're out with Matthew looking at the cows. And
- 4:07Speaker 3: because there's baby cows and you would like to check
- 4:09Speaker 3: on them, is that just to see how what the
- 4:12Speaker 3: rissoles are going to look like?
- 4:13Speaker 4: And I look at their rumps and I say that's
- 4:17Speaker 4: a tasty one. That's a tasty one. No, there's cows
- 4:20Speaker 4: that are giving birth. And whilst these are older cows
- 4:22Speaker 4: and they're very good at it, you're still going to
- 4:24Speaker 4: go around and check and make sure that you know
- 4:26Speaker 4: one isn't stuck halfway through punching out a calf. So
- 4:30Speaker 4: we haven't had birth in Troubles for a while because
- 4:32Speaker 4: I heard is a little bit older, but got to
- 4:34Speaker 4: go and check. Plus, I just like coming for a
- 4:36Speaker 4: drive and throwing bread to the cows. And it's good
- 4:38Speaker 4: for my it's good for my mental health to get
- 4:41Speaker 4: out and do that sort of stuff.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's great.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You put your phone down too. It's the wrong time.
- 4:46Speaker 1: That one specific time was wrong, but in general, I'm
- 4:49Speaker 1: all in favor of Liz Eli's going I'm putting my
- 4:52Speaker 1: phone down.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I'm going to throw some bread at can.
- 4:54Speaker 3: There's something alarming though about putting your phone down, having
- 4:56Speaker 3: to put big gloves on in case you've got to
- 4:58Speaker 3: pull a cow out of.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Yeah, do you know what I've driven past?
- 5:03Speaker 4: So when a cow gets in trouble giving birth, Matthew
- 5:06Speaker 4: walks it down to the cattle yards, and he's at times.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Had to like, you've got to give him some help.
- 5:13Speaker 4: And I drove past one day and I the cattle
- 5:16Speaker 4: yards and they're right next to the road. And I
- 5:18Speaker 4: looked in and Matthew that there's these long blue gloves
- 5:21Speaker 4: that you put on and it goes like up to
- 5:23Speaker 4: his shoulder.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And he's up to his shoulder in a cow. And
- 5:26Speaker 5: I just was like.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Stopped, and I said, before you even think about walking
- 5:29Speaker 4: in the house, I want you to scrub, sterilize, and
- 5:32Speaker 4: disinfect because I know where that army's been and it's
- 5:35Speaker 4: not good.
- 5:35Speaker 6: But the fact that it's up to his shoulder.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Have you ever done that, Liz? What does it feel like?
- 5:40Speaker 5: Is it?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Is it a high pressure in there?
- 5:41Speaker 2: I would have.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Thought there's I mean, one time, Carol and I've et
- 5:50Speaker 4: nyeballs in the jungle. I've climbed out over like a
- 5:52Speaker 4: two kilometer high sort of canyon. I've sailed off tall
- 5:57Speaker 4: buildings with Catherine. There is a limit to what I
- 5:59Speaker 4: will do and that is the limit.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Could you ask matt though, what it feels like. I'm
- 6:03Speaker 1: assuming that it's snug in there, like you got a
- 6:08Speaker 1: whole other its being in.
- 6:11Speaker 6: You come out.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I can someone doing that when you're nine months pregnant
- 6:17Speaker 1: with a human child. It's like, I'm just going to
- 6:19Speaker 1: put my arm in here. It's like him, you're not.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so well, I don't think you take a run up.
- 6:23Speaker 4: The problem for Matthew was that when I was pregnant
- 6:26Speaker 4: with Evelyn, and you know, you go to birth classes,
- 6:28Speaker 4: every time they said something about giving birth, Matthew will go, oh,
- 6:32Speaker 4: that's just like a cow, right, And so if you
- 6:35Speaker 4: say that in a room full of eight and a
- 6:38Speaker 4: half months pregnant women, I just you are not going
- 6:41Speaker 4: to survive this process. And then like he knew all
- 6:44Speaker 4: about mistitis, and you know that, the nurse goes, how
- 6:47Speaker 4: do you know, he goes, Oh, because they're just like cows.
- 6:51Speaker 4: You're not going to live long enough to meet your
- 6:53Speaker 4: child at this rate.
- 6:54Speaker 6: There you go.
- 6:54Speaker 3: So Lizellis is back and we've descended into talking about
- 6:57Speaker 3: things up things already.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Interesting our very first episode where she talked about a
- 7:04Speaker 1: vibrator she'd been given for Mother's Day, so you know
- 7:07Speaker 1: it's she didn't always arrive, but when she's here, she
- 7:11Speaker 1: brings the quality for us.
- 7:13Speaker 6: Welcome back.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Given my empty headedness in the last couple of weeks,
- 7:17Speaker 4: I was very nearly dialing in from jail after I
- 7:19Speaker 4: got court shoplifting.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So we should talk about where we are just briefly.
- 7:25Speaker 2: We have had a little bit of a move.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Big thanks to DM for helping us launch the podcast
- 7:30Speaker 1: the first year, but we are now doing it independently,
- 7:33Speaker 1: which is exciting and excited to have Mandy, our og
- 7:37Speaker 1: producer back on board with us.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Yes, that is very exciting and it was fun doing
- 7:41Speaker 6: a little set.
- 7:42Speaker 3: It starts on coffee mugs that match the Dacore. We've
- 7:46Speaker 3: got a funky little sign coming that will be behind us.
- 7:48Speaker 6: Lose ellus. We're having Neon no dribble Neon right behind.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Us, and obviously a bunch of Asos packages that we
- 7:55Speaker 1: can't get to the post office for we'll have to
- 7:57Speaker 1: stack up behind us too, because that is tradition for
- 7:59Speaker 1: no dribble drop.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Speaking of, I want to know if this is actually
- 8:05Speaker 3: in your study, So on the Facebook page, our notable
- 8:09Speaker 3: Facebook page, there was a bit of a chat in
- 8:11Speaker 3: the last couple of weeks about the question was if
- 8:14Speaker 3: there's ever been a netball Barbie?
- 8:17Speaker 6: Did you see that?
- 8:17Speaker 3: And lots of people posted photos of them, but I
- 8:20Speaker 3: think they're quite old, which got me thinking about when
- 8:24Speaker 3: you and I were turned into lego. So do you
- 8:28Speaker 3: remember when Channel nine when we were with Channel nine
- 8:31Speaker 3: with the netball, they sent us each ourselves made in lego,
- 8:35Speaker 3: which I.
- 8:35Speaker 6: Brought with me. But I wanted to know if yours
- 8:38Speaker 6: was in your study? Is it there?
- 8:40Speaker 4: No, it's not here, but it's outside. My son wants
- 8:44Speaker 4: threatens to pull it apart and play and like pull
- 8:46Speaker 4: it to bits all the time, and I'm like, no, no, no, no,
- 8:48Speaker 4: I don't care what you do with your other lego,
- 8:49Speaker 4: but out, I think it's out in my bookshelf. Outside
- 8:52Speaker 4: you've still got yours.
- 8:53Speaker 6: In a box, Davis, And then put your head back on.
- 8:56Speaker 4: No, it hasn't decapitated me, but it just floats around
- 8:58Speaker 4: in the house. I'm so impressed. This is probably the
- 9:00Speaker 4: difference between Catherine and I. I keep nothing for good everything.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I just like, well I've got it, it can get used,
- 9:06Speaker 4: whereas you've kept yours in a box and all fish.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Catherine cox By, Oh god, that box has long gone
- 9:13Speaker 4: into the recycling at my house.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Does this look like me? That's cute?
- 9:17Speaker 3: So this was the outfit that I had on in
- 9:20Speaker 3: I must have been the first photo shoot that we
- 9:21Speaker 3: did for Channel nine, so they copied the outfit and everything.
- 9:24Speaker 6: So I'll put it up on.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Were you wearing a bikini top?
- 9:27Speaker 5: Well?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and no pants. Now you're a shorter than.
- 9:35Speaker 6: I would have thought, so I am legless. Yeah, okay,
- 9:39Speaker 6: we'll find Jordan. I want to see it next.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Week, if that's okay, please, State championships next weekend, then
- 9:44Speaker 4: at school holidays and I'm I'm taking the caravan to
- 9:47Speaker 4: the outback. But I'll pop a phutto of it up
- 9:49Speaker 4: because I've got it here somewhere. As long as Austin
- 9:51Speaker 4: hasn't decapitated me, I should be okay.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Hey, since you've mentioned state championships, I want to talk
- 9:55Speaker 1: about a letter that we got to the No Dribble
- 9:58Speaker 1: email page this week. And there's obviously quite a lot
- 10:01Speaker 1: of quite a lot of pain behind this, and there's
- 10:04Speaker 1: a person named every they haven't named the association. They've
- 10:06Speaker 1: been very respectful talking about the Association has pulled a
- 10:10Speaker 1: team of I think she said under fourteen's from state champs,
- 10:14Speaker 1: which is only just over a week away, right, and
- 10:17Speaker 1: they are doing it on the basis of the girls
- 10:20Speaker 1: are going to get annihilated. They're not going to be competitive,
- 10:23Speaker 1: they're going to lose. It's going to be a bad experience.
- 10:26Speaker 1: The team, all of the girls and most of the
- 10:28Speaker 1: parents want them to play. And I just thought it's
- 10:31Speaker 1: a really interesting discussion. And it's interesting for me from
- 10:33Speaker 1: my perspective because we're none from eight or something, my
- 10:37Speaker 1: little team, and we're not looking like we're winning. We're
- 10:39Speaker 1: having improvements in different areas. I've got people who've never
- 10:42Speaker 1: been shooters, and I say, can you just go and
- 10:43Speaker 1: try shooting? And so they're, you know, they're shooting about
- 10:46Speaker 1: as well as you get someone to shoot. When you
- 10:48Speaker 1: make them do something they've never done before, they're doing okay.
- 10:51Speaker 1: But we're just starting to get a bit down. So
- 10:55Speaker 1: now I have mcflurri's on the table, but it's like,
- 10:58Speaker 1: we will I will buy you mcfahurries when we win
- 11:01Speaker 1: two consecutive quarters. Because we were talking about this, Liz,
- 11:05Speaker 1: We're talking about you've got to reframe what success is.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So we are we're in the wrong division entirely, but
- 11:10Speaker 1: it's like, well, that's where we are for the season.
- 11:12Speaker 1: We had an opportunity to ask to be downgraded, and
- 11:14Speaker 1: we decided let's stay where we.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Are and fight and try to win.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But it's hard. And I was watching the fire Birds
- 11:21Speaker 1: game last night and they came so close, but they
- 11:25Speaker 1: haven't had a win since August, and I thought, it's
- 11:27Speaker 1: so interesting that the emotions across all of these things
- 11:31Speaker 1: are the same. I mean, obviously the stakes are higher
- 11:34Speaker 1: when you're a Sun Corps Super Netball team, but your
- 11:37Speaker 1: maturity is higher also to deal with it too. And
- 11:40Speaker 1: I'll be interested to know what you guys think. So
- 11:42Speaker 1: this association obviously thinks that they're acting in the best
- 11:44Speaker 1: interest of the girls and saying you're not up for this,
- 11:47Speaker 1: this is setting you up to fail, and the girls
- 11:50Speaker 1: and the parents are saying, we want to play and
- 11:52Speaker 1: we understand that. I just think it's a really fraught discussion.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Well, I mean it is, and I think like across
- 11:59Speaker 3: the last couple of weeks, in particular, I've noticed that
- 12:03Speaker 3: the slow starts have really been an issue, and teams
- 12:06Speaker 3: have gotten behind to the point that they can't catch up,
- 12:09Speaker 3: or then they go goal for goal for the rest
- 12:10Speaker 3: of the game, but it's all too late. So it's
- 12:12Speaker 3: even stuff like that, it's like putting your energy into
- 12:16Speaker 3: not the end result, but improving one section of performance.
- 12:21Speaker 3: And so, Lizo, I actually wanted to talk to you
- 12:23Speaker 3: about this last week in that a couple other sides
- 12:26Speaker 3: and notoriously bad starters, but strategies you can put in
- 12:31Speaker 3: place to try and improve that sort of thing. And
- 12:33Speaker 3: then those are your little wins, Like you don't have
- 12:35Speaker 3: to win the big picture, as you say, but you know,
- 12:37Speaker 3: we used to set ourselves goals of trying to get
- 12:40Speaker 3: i don't know, like three tips a quarter or trying
- 12:43Speaker 3: to keep opposition to ten. You're not focusing then on
- 12:46Speaker 3: sixty minutes down the track having a win. But just
- 12:49Speaker 3: set yourself little goals each quarter that you can get
- 12:51Speaker 3: to and you can keep track of before the end
- 12:55Speaker 3: of the game.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Right, absolutely, And we did that with the Diamonds. Remember
- 12:58Speaker 4: when we used to get pumped by New Zealand, we
- 13:00Speaker 4: thought we were so worried about the outcome that we
- 13:02Speaker 4: forgot about our process. So we made our success measurements
- 13:06Speaker 4: more about the process, right turnovers. When you got an
- 13:09Speaker 4: intercept or you got a game, you get enough for
- 13:11Speaker 4: those little success factors going you get your big success.
- 13:14Speaker 5: So yeah, and you know, it's hard when you got
- 13:17Speaker 5: little kids because athletes.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Older athletes can sort of understand the segmentation and the
- 13:22Speaker 4: long term plan. But when you got little kids like
- 13:23Speaker 4: your little team, Carolyn, or this other little team that's
- 13:25Speaker 4: rep team.
- 13:27Speaker 5: It's really hard.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And if you're getting flogged, it can absolutely smash your confidence.
- 13:31Speaker 4: So that's a really difficult thing to do. I will
- 13:34Speaker 4: say about the slow starts. When I was playing in
- 13:37Speaker 4: the Catholic school girls in New Southwest Catholic school Girls
- 13:39Speaker 4: and we had this.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Coach and she was so hard, but she was.
- 13:43Speaker 4: So amazing, and she decided that we're like fifteen and
- 13:45Speaker 4: we weren't starting well enough. So she came and woke
- 13:48Speaker 4: us up one morning at four am. They're in Perth,
- 13:50Speaker 4: in this dormitory in this boarding school, and she got
- 13:52Speaker 4: us out of bed and she made us go and
- 13:54Speaker 4: do a session in the dark.
- 13:55Speaker 5: She just had a torch.
- 13:56Speaker 4: She said to you, I mean, you wouldn't do it now,
- 13:58Speaker 4: She said, it starts as too slay, soy y're starting
- 14:02Speaker 4: at four am, and then we went back to bed
- 14:04Speaker 4: and had some breakfast.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Was the day you played that? Same day?
- 14:07Speaker 5: Same day?
- 14:07Speaker 4: And then we started beautifully because we're like, we don't
- 14:10Speaker 4: want this.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, how are were you at that stage?
- 14:14Speaker 5: Fifteen?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think I can do that with the
- 14:16Speaker 1: eleven year old. Some of them are even still ten.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Did normal Plumber ever use the mcflurry method that I'm
- 14:23Speaker 1: putting on the table.
- 14:24Speaker 5: For my curls?
- 14:25Speaker 6: I would have responded to it.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well they are that that is they are
- 14:28Speaker 1: really focused on how do we get our mcflurry?
- 14:32Speaker 3: So I think that's a great idea, like what you
- 14:35Speaker 3: need to do, and because they will get so excited about.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And that's the thing they are still focusing on just
- 14:43Speaker 1: kind of having fun. This is the first week that
- 14:45Speaker 1: I've ever seen them feel a little bit despondent, and
- 14:47Speaker 1: I think that was because we're sort of five mil
- 14:49Speaker 1: up and then against a team that didn't have seven
- 14:52Speaker 1: on the court by the way, but you know, they
- 14:55Speaker 1: were feeling good and then it all just it fell
- 14:58Speaker 1: apart the way it usually and we had no subs.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So this is a squad of ten that I have
- 15:02Speaker 1: which is hard. And then this week we had no subs,
- 15:05Speaker 1: so all of them had to play a full game.
- 15:07Speaker 1: None of them have played a full game this year
- 15:09Speaker 1: because I've had to. It's because I'm absolutely focused on
- 15:13Speaker 1: everyone's going to get approximately equal time. But it's tough
- 15:17Speaker 1: because they're all year six, so they go to high
- 15:19Speaker 1: school next year. They could fall out of the game
- 15:21Speaker 1: here with this, so I just I'm really what you
- 15:23Speaker 1: don't want? I really don't want that, And it's really,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you know, we're not you know, ten and a squad
- 15:29Speaker 1: is too many.
- 15:30Speaker 2: We're in the wrong division.
- 15:31Speaker 1: But you know, we are where we are and we're
- 15:33Speaker 1: having a good time and there's still some things that
- 15:35Speaker 1: are improving and whatever. But it's like, I don't want
- 15:39Speaker 1: this year to be the year where they go, well,
- 15:42Speaker 1: it's all you know, that was fine netballs for primary
- 15:44Speaker 1: school and now go and do something else for high school.
- 15:46Speaker 6: I had my first taste of that and it scared me.
- 15:49Speaker 3: On Friday nights, so my little team played and there
- 15:53Speaker 3: was an incident right at the very end of the
- 15:55Speaker 3: game where one of the opponents goal shooter I think
- 15:58Speaker 3: it was a goal, it must have been gold, fell
- 16:00Speaker 3: down on the ground Anyway, she scraped a leg, so
- 16:03Speaker 3: she came off the court. She was crying. But I
- 16:05Speaker 3: was looking at the mums on the sideline and they
- 16:08Speaker 3: were blowing up and looking at my team down that
- 16:13Speaker 3: end and all chatting, and I thought, what's going on there?
- 16:15Speaker 3: That's really interesting. Anyway, the game ended. Next minute, I
- 16:19Speaker 3: get a tap on my shoulder from one of the
- 16:22Speaker 3: mums and I was like, here we go, We're on here.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Anyway, she gets can I have a chat with you?
- 16:27Speaker 1: And I said, yeah, absolutely when it starts with can
- 16:30Speaker 1: I have a chat?
- 16:31Speaker 6: Yeah, So she pulls me into the middle of the court.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Your goal attack was.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Pushing our player the entire game. I've got a player
- 16:39Speaker 3: in tears over there because of the treatment in that game,
- 16:43Speaker 3: and I straight away just went, I'm sorry, no, absolutely not.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And the reason being is if that was warranted, I
- 16:50Speaker 3: would one hundred percent take that on board and have
- 16:53Speaker 3: that conversation, no dramas whatsoever. My team gets smashed every
- 16:58Speaker 3: week by people being rough. Harper even complained about her
- 17:02Speaker 3: opponent in the first fifteen minutes of this game, this
- 17:04Speaker 3: team that we're playing against.
- 17:06Speaker 6: I was like, do not come at me with that.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Of all the things and I said to her, look,
- 17:10Speaker 3: I'm sorry if that's the way you feel. I don't
- 17:13Speaker 3: encourage that behavior. I would never encourage that behavior. Our
- 17:16Speaker 3: team is one of the cleanest in this competition. And
- 17:19Speaker 3: I hang my hat on that. And I was so
- 17:22Speaker 3: angry that it kept me awake most of the night.
- 17:25Speaker 6: I was actually livid that we would be accused of.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Something we would so want you to do when the
- 17:31Speaker 1: game was over. It's like, you know, surely at halftime,
- 17:34Speaker 1: if there's some behavior that they're seeing, that's when they
- 17:36Speaker 1: go and have a chat with the umpire and say,
- 17:38Speaker 1: would you mind keeping an eye on this position please?
- 17:40Speaker 2: I think there's some unfester.
- 17:42Speaker 1: So what does she want you to do when the
- 17:43Speaker 1: game is over?
- 17:44Speaker 6: Yeah, but this is my thing.
- 17:45Speaker 3: So that night I was lying in bed thinking, I
- 17:47Speaker 3: don't want people like that ruining the experience because I
- 17:51Speaker 3: want my team to have fun. I don't care if
- 17:53Speaker 3: we win or lose. I just want them to all
- 17:55Speaker 3: have fun. And then that stuff and behavior ruins it
- 17:59Speaker 3: and ruins it for every body, and you don't want
- 18:01Speaker 3: kids to go. I don't want to play because you
- 18:03Speaker 3: know there's parents on the sideline yelling at me, or
- 18:05Speaker 3: you know whatever it was. But Lizellos, Well, we had
- 18:09Speaker 3: a situation a couple of weeks ago where we had
- 18:11Speaker 3: parents yelling at my team, and I didn't realize because
- 18:15Speaker 3: I always put myself away from everyone when I'm coaching,
- 18:17Speaker 3: because I'm like, I just want to stand and if
- 18:19Speaker 3: I put myself near people, I end up in conversations
- 18:21Speaker 3: and not watching. And I found out later that a
- 18:23Speaker 3: parent from the opposition team had said things about the
- 18:26Speaker 3: umpire and also about my daughter. There's so much research
- 18:31Speaker 3: around about kids drop out, not because they don't have fun,
- 18:34Speaker 3: not because they don't like sport, but because they get
- 18:37Speaker 3: embarrassed by the behavior of their parents.
- 18:39Speaker 4: I actually think netball is pretty good. My kids play
- 18:42Speaker 4: a lot of sports, so I see lots of things,
- 18:44Speaker 4: and I do think netball is pretty good. Netball parents
- 18:47Speaker 4: on the whole are pretty good. But it's interesting. I
- 18:49Speaker 4: think behavior has changed over the years as netball's become
- 18:52Speaker 4: more professional. People see that it's a you know, it's
- 18:54Speaker 4: a potentially professional pathway for their kids, and you just
- 18:58Speaker 4: sort of see that little bit creepy and like, first,
- 19:01Speaker 4: what on earth a parent from the opposition team doesn't
- 19:04Speaker 4: have the right to walk up to a coach and
- 19:06Speaker 4: say and have a complaint to you. Right, the other
- 19:08Speaker 4: coach is very well within their rights to say, listen,
- 19:11Speaker 4: I noticed this. You might want to keep an eye
- 19:13Speaker 4: on that. But a parent has no right to like
- 19:15Speaker 4: and the fact that they approach you, you'll find Catherine,
- 19:18Speaker 4: I've seen you fend for yourself. But imagine if it
- 19:20Speaker 4: was like a fifteen year old girl who was coaching
- 19:23Speaker 4: a team the first time and a parent comes and
- 19:24Speaker 4: says that, like, you've got to pull your head in
- 19:27Speaker 4: And was it you, Catherine? You went to it was
- 19:29Speaker 4: mounta Isser or somewhere like that, and you said, someone
- 19:32Speaker 4: sent me a photo and there was like, our umpires
- 19:34Speaker 4: are volunteers. Our coaches of volunteers. These are kids playing
- 19:37Speaker 4: the sport. This is not a World Cup. You are
- 19:39Speaker 4: not cat fox. All is LUs yet?
- 19:41Speaker 5: Right?
- 19:41Speaker 4: So if you're going to be a parent and go
- 19:44Speaker 4: and have a shot at someone at the coach of
- 19:46Speaker 4: another team, like, it worries me. Like and what if
- 19:49Speaker 4: they walked up and said something to an umpire like parents,
- 19:52Speaker 4: when you're a parent, you you're a role model, and
- 19:55Speaker 4: I get that you might get upset. It's hard watching
- 19:57Speaker 4: your kid get pushed around, Right, You've got to take
- 19:59Speaker 4: a big deep breath and say, my kid will get
- 20:02Speaker 4: resilience from this. I don't have to go and fight
- 20:04Speaker 4: their battles, and I certainly don't go and have to
- 20:06Speaker 4: fight their battles against the opposition coach like I can't
- 20:09Speaker 4: believe if someone walked up to you, Catherine, I'm also
- 20:11Speaker 4: wondering where you hit her body. Sport's unfair, right, that's
- 20:15Speaker 4: and so by going and fighting the battle on behalf
- 20:18Speaker 4: of your kids, you actually your kid is failing to
- 20:21Speaker 4: learn the lesson that you're paying for by paying for
- 20:23Speaker 4: them to play sport Like that is just so beyond
- 20:26Speaker 4: the paal. I'm so pleased that she spoke to you, Catherine,
- 20:29Speaker 4: and she didn't do that to a kid who was
- 20:31Speaker 4: learning to coach and smash their confidence.
- 20:33Speaker 5: But that is just a pooring behavior.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Glenna Freemore, I wonder too, like what are these parents
- 20:38Speaker 1: saying to their kids in the car? So if I
- 20:40Speaker 1: hear anything from any of my kids about the umpiring
- 20:43Speaker 1: was unfair, I shut that right down because it's like
- 20:45Speaker 1: we will get as many go our way as we
- 20:47Speaker 1: will get going against us. You know there will be
- 20:49Speaker 1: there will be calls that the opposition thinks are unfair.
- 20:52Speaker 1: These people are making a judgment in a moment, and
- 20:54Speaker 1: that is if you're looking for those types of excuses
- 20:58Speaker 1: for why you've lost, you get opportunity to learn from
- 21:01Speaker 1: it yourself. But I wonder, what are the conversations that
- 21:03Speaker 1: happened in the car that it's like, oh, yeah, she
- 21:05Speaker 1: was awful to you, and now that umpire was terrible.
- 21:08Speaker 1: It's like that's ship house parenting.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Well, yeah, because Harper did complain about the goalkeeper in
- 21:12Speaker 3: the very first quarter, I was like.
- 21:14Speaker 6: Buddy, that's because you're doing your job and you're winning.
- 21:17Speaker 6: She's getting frustrated. That's a good.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Thing you're going to take to show the scars on
- 21:21Speaker 4: your arms from that I've given you, Catherine.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I mean that, I literally do have plenty of scars
- 21:27Speaker 3: on my arm from Lozellas.
- 21:29Speaker 6: And I may be a better person. I've got a
- 21:31Speaker 6: slight tick, but it may be a better person.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Okay, So apparently it's raining up in Lizza's neck in
- 21:46Speaker 1: the woods and her internet's gone a bit shaky.
- 21:48Speaker 2: But she'll join us again.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Shortly hopefully, so relive, let's suck her for a couple
- 21:55Speaker 1: of weeks. Have we got someone perhaps from Perth? He
- 21:58Speaker 1: might be for AU eights. Yeah, God, he'll be joining
- 22:01Speaker 1: us for the next couple of weeks, which is fabulous.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So another amazing round of network. And you didn't have
- 22:08Speaker 1: to call any of the games. How many of them
- 22:09Speaker 1: did you watch?
- 22:10Speaker 3: No?
- 22:10Speaker 6: Well? Only too well? No four, that's a lie.
- 22:13Speaker 3: But I watched two with a glass of wine, and
- 22:15Speaker 3: I watched two at the studio waiting for Pivot on Sunday.
- 22:19Speaker 6: But how many people got tips? Right? Surely not?
- 22:22Speaker 1: This is a record. There were three people who got
- 22:26Speaker 1: Bengo this week. About eighteen people picked the MAVs, but
- 22:30Speaker 1: only two point nine percent of tippers picked the MAVs
- 22:34Speaker 1: to beat the Swifts. Sixty five point two percent of
- 22:37Speaker 1: people agreed with me and thought the Vixens were going
- 22:39Speaker 1: to beat the Thunderbirds, so that was another upset. Eight
- 22:42Speaker 1: point nine percent of people tip the Firebirds and eight
- 22:44Speaker 1: point nine percent of people tip the Lightning. So there
- 22:48Speaker 1: were a couple of games obviously that went exactly to plan,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and a couple there that were massive upset.
- 22:56Speaker 3: And you know, I was one hundred percent tipping one
- 22:59Speaker 3: of the MAVs to all down the stairs as they
- 23:01Speaker 3: entered the game. What so they it was members round. Yeah,
- 23:05Speaker 3: so they made the MAVs enter in the concourse level
- 23:09Speaker 3: and run down the stairs of the stadium pass their
- 23:13Speaker 3: fans to the court. I was watching it with mub
- 23:16Speaker 3: butt clenched, waiting for someone to roll their owin cord. Yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 3: but they all made it, and then I think that's
- 23:22Speaker 3: why they had a slow start.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yes, only three people had a perfect round this week.
- 23:28Speaker 1: But we have a new leader at the top of
- 23:31Speaker 1: our tipping comp for the first time bascinators at forty five.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I prefer Quidditch, who has been at the top of
- 23:37Speaker 1: this ladder for quite a few weeks now is in
- 23:40Speaker 1: second place with three others, two of whom are new
- 23:44Speaker 1: to the top tier. So yeah, it's getting very exciting.
- 23:48Speaker 6: There you go. How was that MAVs game?
- 23:50Speaker 3: Though they were down six to one and then fought
- 23:53Speaker 3: back to win that first quarter.
- 23:56Speaker 6: Talk about starts.
- 23:57Speaker 3: They have been so bad at their starts all season,
- 24:00Speaker 3: like it's their worst performing quarter. They won the week
- 24:03Speaker 3: before against the Firebirds in the first quarter for the
- 24:05Speaker 3: first time. It's the first time they did back to
- 24:07Speaker 3: back first quarter wins. But to come from behind and
- 24:10Speaker 3: then I reckon they just after that. They knew they
- 24:13Speaker 3: could do it, they knew they could fight back, so
- 24:15Speaker 3: pumped full of confidence, they were never going to lose
- 24:17Speaker 3: that game, even though they had to weather a few
- 24:20Speaker 3: little storms there. From the Swifts, I reckon, they just
- 24:22Speaker 3: set the starts, are setting people up so beautifully this season,
- 24:26Speaker 3: I reckon, what a cracking game.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Joanna has won the weekly prize. They're also not near
- 24:30Speaker 1: the top of the tipping ladder, so don't forget. You
- 24:32Speaker 1: get a voucher for fifty dollars if you are the
- 24:35Speaker 1: best tipper of the round.
- 24:37Speaker 2: So that's Joanna this week.
- 24:39Speaker 7: Good?
- 24:39Speaker 3: And then what about the Lightning Fever game, so Fever
- 24:42Speaker 3: by fifteen. I said at the start of the year
- 24:45Speaker 3: very confidently that the Swifts didn't win.
- 24:47Speaker 6: Something's gone horribly wrong. I'm changing that.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Now to the West Coast Fever because like at the
- 24:53Speaker 3: time when I said it, there was no Janil. This
- 24:56Speaker 3: West Coast Fever side does.
- 24:58Speaker 6: Not look like slowing down.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Stats every week have been near perfection in every category.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Jordan Cransburg, Oh my god, she made me want to
- 25:08Speaker 3: come out of retirement.
- 25:09Speaker 6: I want to be on the end of her passes.
- 25:12Speaker 3: She's just do you remember nat av Liz like nat Avelena.
- 25:17Speaker 5: How could I not remember that happened?
- 25:19Speaker 4: Since every time I had my eyes down the ball
- 25:21Speaker 4: that goes straight over my head.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Damn it, She's got me again.
- 25:24Speaker 6: So good.
- 25:25Speaker 3: I remember dreaming about playing net ball one night. I mean,
- 25:28Speaker 3: how sad was my life back in the day. But
- 25:30Speaker 3: I think We're on the plane and I was We're
- 25:32Speaker 3: in the middle of the test matches. It was Australia
- 25:34Speaker 3: versus New Zealand, so we were traveling for the next
- 25:36Speaker 3: game somewhere and I remember just nodding off in my
- 25:39Speaker 3: seat and I woke out like this with my hands
- 25:41Speaker 3: up in my face because I was thinking that Avelino
- 25:45Speaker 3: had just passed.
- 25:45Speaker 1: A ball at me.
- 25:47Speaker 2: THAT'SSD, isn't it?
- 25:49Speaker 6: Seriously? But it's like that.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Jordan Cransburg, Oh my god. Some of the young rookies
- 25:54Speaker 3: this year like having some time on court outstanding and
- 25:57Speaker 3: she was amazing lightning though Ocara Conan again, I reckon
- 26:02Speaker 3: Batchel Door's great. She's a great sub.
- 26:04Speaker 6: But what they lose is.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Not having an opportunity to change if it's not working,
- 26:08Speaker 3: because they've got no one that they can put on
- 26:09Speaker 3: the on the court.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Steph Fretwell just was not her usual level of accuracy either,
- 26:14Speaker 1: was it. It was quite it was. It was puzzling to
- 26:16Speaker 1: watch because she's usually so cool and calm, and remember
- 26:20Speaker 1: her last year after the end of the season, tearful,
- 26:25Speaker 1: and she was obviously very emotional yesterday, and I just
- 26:27Speaker 1: wonder if yesterday was like her. You know, I know nothing,
- 26:31Speaker 1: no inside stuff, but at some stays she's going to
- 26:33Speaker 1: be looking at retirement, right, And it's like, was this
- 26:35Speaker 1: there year and a few weeks ago I thought it
- 26:37Speaker 1: was going to be a Swift's Lightning Grand Final. I'm
- 26:40Speaker 1: not certain either of those teams are going to be
- 26:41Speaker 1: in the Grand Final.
- 26:43Speaker 3: They're going to struggle to get another win, the Swift's
- 26:45Speaker 3: next week, the Lightning, and then they've got the Tea Birds.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I don't reckon they'll get a win there. They're going
- 26:50Speaker 3: to end up on the same amount of points, they'll
- 26:53Speaker 3: be out of.
- 26:53Speaker 6: That top four.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's my that's my guess. So she may have
- 26:57Speaker 3: known that. They would know, right, I think they're doing the.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Lightning are gone and so saying in our tipping video
- 27:02Speaker 1: the other day that I think I think it's gone
- 27:04Speaker 1: for them, and that was before this loss. And you know,
- 27:07Speaker 1: looking at the Tea Birds and the Vixen's like they
- 27:10Speaker 1: just they're they're improving at the right time, both teams.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Yeah, like that Vixen Thunderbirds game. You looked at that
- 27:17Speaker 4: and went, oh, I can see why this is last
- 27:19Speaker 4: year's Grand finalists. But they're sitting in third and fourth.
- 27:22Speaker 4: I think I do wonder though, if Lightning will see
- 27:24Speaker 4: this weekend is their Grand final. Like Swifts are wounded,
- 27:27Speaker 4: they're not flying as well as they were at the
- 27:30Speaker 4: start of the year. I reckon Lightning will think there's
- 27:32Speaker 4: a bit of life in the in their season. Yet
- 27:34Speaker 4: they'd have to fancy themselves.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I mean, they can still get it get there, but
- 27:38Speaker 3: they have to win both the games against the Swifts
- 27:40Speaker 3: and the Tea Birds just to get into equal with
- 27:43Speaker 3: the Thunderbirds at the moments, which then means the Thunderbirds
- 27:45Speaker 3: as got to lose two games.
- 27:47Speaker 6: So it's God, it's.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Going to be interesting, but it will come down to
- 27:50Speaker 3: that last game, I think more so to see who
- 27:52Speaker 3: comes first to fourth as opposed to who's going to
- 27:55Speaker 3: be in the top four.
- 27:56Speaker 1: But I remember, you know when lizellis used to do
- 27:58Speaker 1: this podcast with us before she took two unscheduled weeks off.
- 28:02Speaker 1: She said that the bottom four teams are going to
- 28:04Speaker 1: have a huge say on who the top four teams are.
- 28:07Speaker 2: And that's exactly what we're saying.
- 28:09Speaker 1: It's just crazy, Like the Maps looked really good, like
- 28:13Speaker 1: it was just the Swifts.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Didn't have a lot of answers for them.
- 28:15Speaker 3: So, oh yeah, the MAVs will piss some people off
- 28:17Speaker 3: in the next couple of weeks, and I reckon it's
- 28:20Speaker 3: coming next week.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Maps might also piss themselves off, going while are we
- 28:23Speaker 4: doing this at the start of the year?
- 28:25Speaker 5: True?
- 28:27Speaker 6: True?
- 28:28Speaker 1: So how does the semifinals work? Is that the top
- 28:31Speaker 1: two teams get a home semi final.
- 28:34Speaker 3: No, So one and two will play each other, so
- 28:36Speaker 3: number whoever comes in first will have a final.
- 28:39Speaker 6: Three and four play each other. Whoever comes in third
- 28:42Speaker 6: will have a.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Final, but that third and fourth playoff is an elimination.
- 28:46Speaker 3: One and two will get a second shot, so if
- 28:48Speaker 3: they lose, they'll the loser of that will play the
- 28:51Speaker 3: winner of three and four case, so they will then
- 28:53Speaker 3: host that final.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So the Swifts will play the winner of three and four.
- 28:56Speaker 1: By the looks of things, so it's hard to see
- 28:58Speaker 1: the Fever coming out on top being minor premiers.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Yeah, as it is at the moment.
- 29:03Speaker 3: We're going to have a maybe a Perth final and
- 29:05Speaker 3: then an Adelaide or a Melbourne final, and you're right,
- 29:08Speaker 3: the next one will probably be in Sydney.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Be great if it was Adelaide, wouldn't it because Melbourne
- 29:12Speaker 1: gets their grand final. So Vixen's if you could just
- 29:14Speaker 1: let Adelaide have that final.
- 29:16Speaker 2: That would be good.
- 29:18Speaker 6: We're all about sharing.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Yeah, very exciting.
- 29:25Speaker 1: So, Liz, one of the things we talked about two
- 29:27Speaker 1: weeks ago while you were off tending the cows was
- 29:29Speaker 1: this was on the back end of a couple of
- 29:31Speaker 1: huge announcements for Netball Australia. So we had will be Goldberg,
- 29:35Speaker 1: which is just amazing, and then there was another broadcast.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Hell can you, I don't know, tell us what you
- 29:41Speaker 1: want to tell us about that?
- 29:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 4: So THEAWSN Australia, the All Women's Sports Network, which will
- 29:48Speaker 4: be Goldberg, it's the founder of They basically saw netball
- 29:52Speaker 4: on the socials, on our socials and when we need
- 29:54Speaker 4: a piece of that action on our platform, so they
- 29:57Speaker 4: approached us. There was a meeting heap of super net
- 30:00Speaker 4: merch got cent across to Whoope in her office and
- 30:02Speaker 4: next minute when we're there, so super Netball on the
- 30:06Speaker 4: All Women's Sports Network aws N, and then there was
- 30:10Speaker 4: Inverlock or Unbeaten is the other platform which is a
- 30:13Speaker 4: streaming platform into America and Africa, and that also has
- 30:18Speaker 4: super Netball on it as well. So that does a
- 30:21Speaker 4: couple of things. It allows It opens up some more markets,
- 30:23Speaker 4: which is terrific for in terms of like getting partnerships
- 30:27Speaker 4: and you know, putting digital details down and that sort
- 30:29Speaker 4: of stuff. But the other thing it does is just
- 30:31Speaker 4: starts to tick boxes. Should netball lodge a bid for
- 30:34Speaker 4: the Olympics? You know, you've got to show that you
- 30:36Speaker 4: have global relevance, and if we're sitting on a couple
- 30:39Speaker 4: of really big international streaming and television linear television platforms.
- 30:44Speaker 5: It doesn't.
- 30:44Speaker 4: So it was really exciting and to hear, you know,
- 30:46Speaker 4: to see Whoop be Gold there talking about Neddy was
- 30:49Speaker 4: really it was cool, you know, and it leads into
- 30:52Speaker 4: the sister act line, which I really liked as well,
- 30:55Speaker 4: So it was great.
- 30:56Speaker 3: I believe there's a push to try and get it
- 30:58Speaker 3: to the Grand Final. We talked about here a couple
- 31:01Speaker 3: of weeks ago when you were here. But then all
- 31:03Speaker 3: the dribblers now like, well, look, if she's coming to
- 31:06Speaker 3: the function, she's going to come to the Noribble life functions.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Can you imagine she'd be like, what, what?
- 31:13Speaker 5: What's going on? Yes?
- 31:16Speaker 1: I think in her heart she's already a dribbler, but
- 31:19Speaker 1: you know, she just doesn't know it yet.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Exactly, but we will be sure to tell her if
- 31:23Speaker 5: that happens.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Well, it's very exciting. I can't believe what's happening with
- 31:26Speaker 1: neb All Australia this year.
- 31:27Speaker 2: It's so good.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Operating profits and international deals. It's almost like this people
- 31:34Speaker 1: in charge, you know what they're doing.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Yeah, don't get too excited, but it is exciting. And
- 31:40Speaker 4: I want our whole sport to be really proud of
- 31:42Speaker 4: the sport, you know. So you want people out there
- 31:45Speaker 4: talking about how good things are going, and we've got
- 31:47Speaker 4: to give people the reason.
- 31:48Speaker 5: So yeah, the team's doing a great job.
- 31:50Speaker 6: So good congrats everyone.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Hey, one thing just before we go, but it's a
- 31:55Speaker 1: big issue that we talked about on the weekend. Liz
- 31:57Speaker 1: and I think that we need your in on this.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Do you shower every day?
- 32:04Speaker 5: Do you.
- 32:04Speaker 1: So I hadn't had a shower on Friday when Cat
- 32:07Speaker 1: came over here on Saturday, I had not had a shower.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I didn't have a shower on Friday because I was
- 32:12Speaker 1: going to go to the gym in the afternoon, and
- 32:15Speaker 1: so I didn't change, and then I didn't end up
- 32:17Speaker 1: going to the gym, and then I'm still jet lags.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I crashed on the couch and went to bed, and
- 32:21Speaker 1: I'm standing at netball the next morning, just going you
- 32:24Speaker 1: are disgusting.
- 32:26Speaker 6: That's a big deal. I don't like one day.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Oh if you went two days, that's rank, but quite
- 32:31Speaker 3: because I always shower at night like my parents religious
- 32:36Speaker 3: morning shower.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I'm a morning shower, but dirty through the day, and
- 32:40Speaker 1: you go to bed dirty. No, sometimes I'll have another shower.
- 32:44Speaker 6: All that makes but I'm always I don't know. In
- 32:46Speaker 6: my head. I just think wash the day off right
- 32:48Speaker 6: before you get into it.
- 32:49Speaker 1: It's interesting because you obviously grew up in that house, Hud,
- 32:51Speaker 1: so usually you do what your parents did. Like you
- 32:53Speaker 1: know people, you can go into your mother's kitchen even
- 32:56Speaker 1: if they've moved, and you always know where everything is
- 32:58Speaker 1: because you've been brought up there.
- 33:00Speaker 6: No it's random.
- 33:01Speaker 3: But when you said that, I was not at all surprised,
- 33:03Speaker 3: because there's days that I would do the same thing,
- 33:05Speaker 3: like I'll wake up clean and like I don't need
- 33:07Speaker 3: to have one in the morning and the day he
- 33:08Speaker 3: gets away from you in the next minute, and do
- 33:10Speaker 3: the smell under my pits only in the privacy of
- 33:13Speaker 3: my own home.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Actually, you did ask, so the dribblers had a range
- 33:16Speaker 1: of things. The things that the dribblers do, it seemed
- 33:19Speaker 1: to be things you do in the privacy of your
- 33:20Speaker 1: own home. And then it was all about going out
- 33:22Speaker 1: in public and your pajamas. So I don't think that
- 33:24Speaker 1: was quite right. But I did remember one that's quite funny.
- 33:28Speaker 1: So this was traveling and because I was going to
- 33:30Speaker 1: carry on a baggage, I didn't pack my tweezers because
- 33:33Speaker 1: I don't know what the tweezer's rules are.
- 33:35Speaker 2: But quite often I will.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Find myself just you know, you get one stray hair
- 33:39Speaker 1: on your chin after a certain age, and it's like
- 33:41Speaker 1: I'm just sitting there worrying this thing and then realizing
- 33:45Speaker 1: I shouldn't be doing this in public.
- 33:47Speaker 7: That is not like you know, you were doing it
- 33:51Speaker 7: in pumblic yeah, but he didn't even realize that. I'm
- 33:53Speaker 7: just sitting there. You think, my middle finger and my
- 33:56Speaker 7: thumb trying to pull this thing out. And then I thought, Carolyn,
- 34:00Speaker 7: that's not decent behavior for public consumption.
- 34:04Speaker 3: After we finished, too, I was at home and I
- 34:06Speaker 3: remembered another one because I was busting to other toilet.
- 34:09Speaker 3: You know, when you're at home, you start like you're
- 34:10Speaker 3: doing the weed dance. I really got to go and
- 34:12Speaker 3: you kind of run funny to the toilet.
- 34:14Speaker 6: You'd never do that in pubblic No, just let.
- 34:17Speaker 1: It come out, like when the little girls will clutch it.
- 34:20Speaker 1: It's like going to put their hand and it's like,
- 34:22Speaker 1: can you go to the bathroom. It's I'm really excited
- 34:24Speaker 1: with what's happening here at the moment. You can't do
- 34:27Speaker 1: that as an adult.
- 34:28Speaker 6: It's not in public.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Let me tell your disgusting behavior I'm gonna have to
- 34:31Speaker 3: deal with. So right at the start I mentioned I
- 34:33Speaker 3: had an epic fail on the way over. Yes, I
- 34:35Speaker 3: made myself some veggimite vitaweeds nice and cheese. Right, so
- 34:40Speaker 3: you put veggimi on one side of the cracker, and
- 34:42Speaker 3: then she's on top, and then another vida weed on top.
- 34:44Speaker 3: So I got in the car with them, had my
- 34:47Speaker 3: hands full. One fell down the crack of no return,
- 34:49Speaker 3: I know, and it was the one with all the
- 34:51Speaker 3: VEGGIEMI on it.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Oh, I know.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Yeah, what are you going to do?
- 34:54Speaker 3: I don't know, because unless you can tat your arm
- 34:57Speaker 3: to get in that hole, I may not come out it.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Yeah, so what do I do? Here's the question?
- 35:03Speaker 2: But I can give it a go.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I've got smaller hands than you, But I think this
- 35:05Speaker 1: is a job for a nine year old ten year old?
- 35:08Speaker 2: How is yours? Oh god?
- 35:09Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, I haven't seen her. Can you use your
- 35:13Speaker 6: own child? Not to get a random?
- 35:17Speaker 1: So the rain is really impeding Liz's ability to join us,
- 35:20Speaker 1: but she's here for the end. I think she just
- 35:22Speaker 1: went and had an extra shower in the middle there
- 35:24Speaker 1: while we were talking about it, because she's worried about
- 35:26Speaker 1: you need to shower at least once a day. You
- 35:29Speaker 1: missed some talk about some pretty appalling behavior from me
- 35:34Speaker 1: and an epic fail from Cat. But you'll be able
- 35:37Speaker 1: to listen to the episode and learn all of that.
- 35:39Speaker 1: But we should probably sign off whilst.
- 35:41Speaker 6: We've got you.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I'm used to your falling behavior and epic fails.
- 35:44Speaker 4: So that's fine, it's just business as usual.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Well that's harsh for truth.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Do you have any words of wisdom for us for winter?
- 35:52Speaker 1: While we don't have you here for the next couple
- 35:54Speaker 1: of weeks, Gordy will be here. But you know, do
- 35:56Speaker 1: you have any words of wisdom either for the two
- 35:58Speaker 1: of us or the three of us?
- 36:00Speaker 5: To Queensland. That's what I'm doing the queens line.
- 36:02Speaker 3: But you're not. You're coming to Sydney. We're going to
- 36:04Speaker 3: see you at the netball on Saturday. I'm excited.
- 36:06Speaker 4: You'll see me in the net ball and then I
- 36:08Speaker 4: will disappear to Queensland for the remainder of the school holidays.
- 36:11Speaker 4: I'll be in the outback, not showering.
- 36:13Speaker 6: Well, you're a bastard traveling safe for winter?
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah, travel safe and yeah look forward to seeing you
- 36:19Speaker 1: on the flip side. Thanks, bye, bye bye everyone.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Have a great week.
- 36:23Speaker 6: See you guys.
