- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:29As you can hear it is a noisy day out here and we are talking
- 0:34today about the power of being neutral.
- 0:36Oh boy, Being neutral is not easy.
- 0:40Taking yourself out of your emotion and not allowing your
- 0:44emotions to get in your way and set you up for failure.
- 0:48And you know it's a it's something that the better you
- 0:51get at it, the happier you seem to be because things can't push
- 0:54your buttons. So what is being neutral really
- 0:57mean? Well it means that you don't
- 0:59have a bunch of triggers as we talked about in another podcast,
- 1:02that fire off constantly. Or if they do you don't keep
- 1:05them, you try to go back to them.
- 1:07I often say to clients you want to pretend like you're
- 1:09Switzerland. You just don't get involved.
- 1:12I'm. I'm not going to put my emotion
- 1:14into that. I'm not going to put my energy
- 1:16into that. I'm not going to put my focus on
- 1:18that, However you like to do, It's going.
- 1:20Being neutral more than not, and observing yourself in this
- 1:23process is quite fascinating because it is astounding how
- 1:28many things we get triggered on emotionally during the day,
- 1:32whether it's someone leaving dishes in the sink, people in
- 1:35traffic, oh man. I can't tell you how many
- 1:38conversations that I have with clients who get angry in
- 1:41traffic. And I find this fascinating
- 1:44because everyone's in their own little bubble and you're
- 1:46driving. And I've done it too.
- 1:48I've gotten mad at people in traffic, but they can't hear
- 1:51you. They don't even know how upset
- 1:52you are. Half of them don't even know
- 1:54what they did. And you're sitting there in a
- 1:57pile of anger that's consuming you and they don't even know it,
- 2:02and they're just gone. And even after they drive away,
- 2:04you're still in the state of anger and you're just like, Oh
- 2:07my gosh. And you'll even get to where
- 2:09you're going and then talk about it and say, I was on the ride
- 2:12here. It was the worst ride here ever.
- 2:13Every stupid driver in the world get out there.
- 2:16And it doesn't need to happen that way because you're getting
- 2:19triggered by them and you're not able to pull yourself back to
- 2:22neutral, back to not getting annoyed back to not having that
- 2:27button being pushed back, to saying I don't always have to be
- 2:31in a, you know, I think the way to the best way for me to
- 2:34explain this is I'm a very happy person at the core of who I am.
- 2:38Like inside, I'm just very happy, very peaceful, still very
- 2:42driven. But I can say I'm happy most of
- 2:44the time. I feel really happy.
- 2:46Does that mean I don't get triggered?
- 2:48Absolutely not. I get triggered.
- 2:50But I try to let it all go as quickly as I can so that I can
- 2:54just come back to neutral. And then I can choose from there
- 2:58where I want to go and at the feet and and be able to feel
- 3:02happy. Because the beautiful thing
- 3:03about being a human being is that we get to feel multiple
- 3:06emotions all at the same time. We can truly feel multiple
- 3:09things at the same time. You know, my mother passed away.
- 3:12I I love this using it as an example because it was so true.
- 3:15She had suffered from a sickness for a long time, and when she
- 3:18passed away, I was so at peace and so relieved that she wasn't
- 3:24suffering anymore. While I was absolutely
- 3:26heartbroken that she was gone and I was going to miss her
- 3:29terribly and still do, And I was astounded that I could feel two
- 3:34opposite ends of the the spectrum so hard at the same
- 3:38time. And this is the great thing
- 3:40about being a human. You can so you can feel peaceful
- 3:44inside, you can have a sense of happiness.
- 3:47At the same time, your triggers are going off and you've just
- 3:51got to choose where do you want to go.
- 3:53You know that old there's an old phrase about there are two
- 3:57wolves inside of you and one that survives on anger and one
- 4:01that survives on love, and the one that survives the longest is
- 4:06the one you feed. And you have to really consider
- 4:09the fact that you have ultimate control over this.
- 4:12And going to neutral for me is something I love to be able to
- 4:17teach my clients because it's powerful.
- 4:21You you have the ability to say, you know what, I just need to
- 4:24take time to think about that or I need to take time to pause.
- 4:27I don't have to answer right now.
- 4:29We we are so rushed as human beings.
- 4:32We are so pushed to to just Doo Doo BB go, go, go.
- 4:37And the truth is we don't have to do that.
- 4:40We can pause. We can take our time.
- 4:42We can take that moment and just choose something different.
- 4:46So that's what I'm asking you to do.
- 4:47I'm asking you to pause. I'm asking you to think about
- 4:50it. I'm asking you to say I'm not
- 4:51going to get that trigger fired off right now.
- 4:54I'm going to get to neutral. I'm going to be OK and I'm going
- 4:57to go from there. So I hope that you guys can work
- 5:00on this today and really see the power of neutral and the the
- 5:04blessing it is to get back to being neutral so that you don't
- 5:07have to allow others to control you and that what their actions
- 5:11to control you. I hope you all have a very
- 5:14blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
