- 2:03Speaker 5: who's not been here for a while, is going to
- 2:05Speaker 5: stop in to talk about a special event that's going
- 2:08Speaker 5: on tomorrow at Greens Feed and Seed here in Charleston
- 2:12Speaker 5: with the pick of the Litter Animal Rescue Group. We'll
- 2:14Speaker 5: talk about that with him. Plus your calls and text
- 2:16Speaker 5: are welcome to But I want to start by talking
- 2:18Speaker 5: about high school football. We have Matt Guitar Murphy and
- 2:22Speaker 5: Chris Lawrence with us. Matt, let's start with you because
- 2:24Speaker 5: you're also doing double duty producing the show today, So
- 2:27Speaker 5: I will start with you and we'll talk about your
- 2:29Speaker 5: game that you and Tom Bragg are going to be covering.
- 2:32Speaker 6: Yeah, we're going to be taking the trip down to
- 2:34Speaker 6: Princeton tonight where Herbert Hoover will take on the Tigers.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Dewey Fields squad last week a really fantastic win against
- 2:44Speaker 6: a good Oak Hill team earlier in the season. You know,
- 2:47Speaker 6: you see Hoover, they started a little bit slower in
- 2:50Speaker 6: the games. By this point in the season, they're clicking
- 2:53Speaker 6: on all cylinders. They started out the game just guns
- 2:56Speaker 6: of blazon and they went through the entire game that way.
- 3:00Speaker 6: Dane Hatfield, senior quarterback is the big leader there for
- 3:03Speaker 6: the Hoover Huskies, and he is just just piling on
- 3:08Speaker 6: the yards on a monumental career. He is up to
- 3:11Speaker 6: twelve two and forty five career yards including passing and rushing.
- 3:16Speaker 6: He's an all time yards leader for the Huskies. Of course,
- 3:19Speaker 6: he's got a couple of utility guys around him, and
- 3:22Speaker 6: Blake Fisher and Devin Silvis, so those guys will all
- 3:25Speaker 6: have to come out tonight and take on an undefeated
- 3:28Speaker 6: Princeton team. So both teams undefeated tonight, eleven and zero.
- 3:31Speaker 6: So the winner tonight will head on to Charleston for
- 3:35Speaker 6: the championship. But it's going to be a very difficult
- 3:38Speaker 6: task on the road, the first playoff road game for
- 3:42Speaker 6: the Huskies this season. They had home field advantage the
- 3:44Speaker 6: last two weeks, but they are looking really good right now.
- 3:48Speaker 6: So if they can get through the Tigers, they can
- 3:50Speaker 6: advance to the championship.
- 3:52Speaker 5: And Princeton is a very very tough place to play
- 3:54Speaker 5: from what I understand well, and.
- 3:55Speaker 6: It's going to be really cold tonight. Tom Bragg and
- 3:58Speaker 6: I have been talking about the way either all week,
- 4:00Speaker 6: just kind of watching the forecast. I feel like every
- 4:03Speaker 6: day that we've checked us a little bit colder, so
- 4:06Speaker 6: definitely gonna be wearing layers out there, but it should
- 4:09Speaker 6: be a really good matchup.
- 4:10Speaker 5: All right, Matt, I appreciate it very much. To switch
- 4:12Speaker 5: over to Chris Lawrence. Chris, good morning, Good morning, you
- 4:15Speaker 5: are ready to talk call some redskins.
- 4:17Speaker 7: Foot indeed, we will try. We will be crossing the
- 4:20Speaker 7: state again, headed back to the eastern Panhandle to bring
- 4:22Speaker 7: you coverage tomorrow of Hurricane and spring Mills. This promises
- 4:27Speaker 7: to be a good game. Spring Mills not been around
- 4:29Speaker 7: that long. They were opened in twenty thirteen, and this
- 4:33Speaker 7: is the only the second year they've been to the
- 4:35Speaker 7: playoffs and the first time they've ever gotten out of
- 4:37Speaker 7: the first round, so they're playing in the semi finals.
- 4:40Speaker 7: Hurricane has been playing football for one hundred years and
- 4:43Speaker 7: this will only be the second time they've made it
- 4:45Speaker 7: to the semi finals. Neither one of these teams has
- 4:48Speaker 7: ever been to the state championship, so one of them
- 4:51Speaker 7: is going to make history tomorrow afternoon. Hurricane had a
- 4:54Speaker 7: great game last week against Jefferson, went on the road
- 4:58Speaker 7: and turned the tide early and and once they got
- 5:01Speaker 7: up on on Jefferson, there was no looking back, So
- 5:06Speaker 7: a big game tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock. Keep this
- 5:09Speaker 7: in mind that Spring Mills has won eleven games. They
- 5:12Speaker 7: are eleven and one. Nine of those wins were shutouts.
- 5:16Speaker 7: They've only given up thirty seven points all season long,
- 5:19Speaker 7: So pretty stingy defense by the Cardinals there. That hurricane's
- 5:23Speaker 7: going to run into tomorrow afternoon. Nevertheless, we'll see how
- 5:27Speaker 7: it goes out and you'll be able to catch all
- 5:29Speaker 7: the action live here on five ADWCCHS. We will be
- 5:32Speaker 7: on the air at one o'clock, the kickoff at one
- 5:34Speaker 7: point thirty from Martinsburg.
- 5:36Speaker 3: All right, sounds good.
- 5:37Speaker 7: What do you got coming up on Westergy Outdoors tomorrow?
- 5:40Speaker 7: We're going to have several really cool big buck stories
- 5:44Speaker 7: for you. And the neat part of it is all
- 5:47Speaker 7: of these bucks were killed on public land. So that's
- 5:50Speaker 7: something that a lot of people talk about, is the
- 5:54Speaker 7: difficulty of finding big bucks or hunting at all on
- 5:57Speaker 7: public land and finding a place that you can get
- 6:00Speaker 7: You know that you can find de youer on public
- 6:03Speaker 7: land because it's so heavily pressured, but there are still
- 6:05Speaker 7: big bucks out there in those areas if you're willing
- 6:08Speaker 7: to spend a little boot leather and do your homework.
- 6:11Speaker 7: And I've caught up with some guys who managed to
- 6:13Speaker 7: do that, so we will talk to them tomorrow on
- 6:15Speaker 7: the show.
- 6:15Speaker 5: All right, Chris, appreciate it, man. I'm finally going to
- 6:17Speaker 5: get make it to the Woods at some point. I mean,
- 6:19Speaker 5: you're going to be able to make it because I
- 6:20Speaker 5: know eventually you had to take some time off, you know,
- 6:22Speaker 5: for the family stuff, and so are you going to
- 6:24Speaker 5: make it at times?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Eventually? I will, We'll see.
- 6:26Speaker 7: I guess I've still got some opportunities, so that remains
- 6:29Speaker 7: to be seen.
- 6:30Speaker 5: We worry about your mental status if you don't get
- 6:34Speaker 5: to the woods a certain amount of times.
- 6:36Speaker 7: Well, so I'm not so sure that Woods is going
- 6:39Speaker 7: to fix. You know, there's some things that can't be repaired.
- 6:41Speaker 7: You can do it exactly, I mean, there's some things
- 6:44Speaker 7: you just can't repair. But yeah, it would be nice
- 6:46Speaker 7: to get out there and at least get something to
- 6:49Speaker 7: eat for the summer for the winter. So I really
- 6:52Speaker 7: don't want to be in a soup line, all right, Chris,
- 6:55Speaker 7: I appreciate it, man, Thanks a lot. All right, man,
- 6:57Speaker 7: And again Chris Well and Aaron will have coverage of
- 7:00Speaker 7: the hurricane game coming up tomorrow afternoon. But Dave Island
- 7:03Speaker 7: showing five eighty live is brought to you in part
- 7:05Speaker 7: by Bridge Valley. If you're interested to prove in your
- 7:06Speaker 7: company's IT workforce, please know they offer custom Taylor IT
- 7:10Speaker 7: training to bridge the skills gap. You can train for
- 7:12Speaker 7: a little of no cost fifty to fifty salary match.
- 7:14Speaker 7: They can also supply skilled graduates and apprenticeships for your
- 7:17Speaker 7: company of Hisbridge Valley dot edu slash apprenticeships.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Today, I'm going to.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Now transition to talk to our good friend Hannah Gardner
- 7:25Speaker 5: from the Kenneal Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt
- 7:28Speaker 5: Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, good morning, how
- 7:30Speaker 5: are you how?
- 7:33Speaker 3: I am doing fine?
- 7:35Speaker 8: Uh.
- 7:35Speaker 5: So, we've got the animal posted as we always do
- 7:39Speaker 5: are pet of the week. His name is Monty. He's
- 7:42Speaker 5: a ten month old male, good looking dog. Tell us
- 7:45Speaker 5: the story of Monty.
- 7:48Speaker 9: Yeah, so he is a male and he is neutered already,
- 7:52Speaker 9: so he would be good to go home with you
- 7:54Speaker 9: as soon as you adopted him. He is around thirty
- 7:58Speaker 9: eighth pound so I think the last time they weighed him,
- 8:02Speaker 9: so he could be a little bit more, a little
- 8:04Speaker 9: bit less, but I think he's still kind of you're
- 8:06Speaker 9: talking at that thirty eight pounds. He is ten months,
- 8:10Speaker 9: so he still has room to grow. He could probably
- 8:13Speaker 9: get just a little bit bigger and fill out some more.
- 8:17Speaker 9: But he is micro tripped and vaccinated as well. So
- 8:20Speaker 9: since he's already neutered and already micro tripped and vaccinated,
- 8:23Speaker 9: like I said, he'd be able to go right on
- 8:25Speaker 9: home with you at his zero dollar adoption fee. Since
- 8:28Speaker 9: he is fully sponsored already. I'm not exactly sure if
- 8:33Speaker 9: it was a company or a specific person or anything
- 8:35Speaker 9: like that that somebody from the public generously sponsored his
- 8:40Speaker 9: adoption fee, so he is fully covered already, so you
- 8:43Speaker 9: would not have to pay for the adoption fee itself.
- 8:47Speaker 9: And he is a very very social guy and he's
- 8:49Speaker 9: very very playful. He does still on the leash a
- 8:51Speaker 9: little bit, but he's still a puppy, so he can
- 8:54Speaker 9: work well with some training, and he would be really
- 8:56Speaker 9: really good with a family probably. He's really great with
- 9:01Speaker 9: other dogs. He's very very happy, loose and wiggly when
- 9:05Speaker 9: he's in play groups with the other dogs, So we
- 9:08Speaker 9: definitely would encourage him to be with another dog just
- 9:10Speaker 9: because he's very playful with him and he's very happy
- 9:13Speaker 9: and just he just seems like a happy, go lucky dog.
- 9:16Speaker 9: But we always, of course, of course, of course, no
- 9:19Speaker 9: matter what, no matter how friendly they may seem, always
- 9:22Speaker 9: a as caution around kids, even other dogs, cats, anything
- 9:26Speaker 9: like that, just because you never know what it could
- 9:29Speaker 9: be like in a home and what we say his
- 9:32Speaker 9: life is like in the shelter, it could be a
- 9:34Speaker 9: little different when it looks like it's been a home.
- 9:37Speaker 9: So definitely just be cautious regardless of any dog that
- 9:42Speaker 9: you do have or do adopt. You never know exactly
- 9:46Speaker 9: what may happen. But Monty is a very very good
- 9:48Speaker 9: boy and he would be a very very good family dog.
- 9:50Speaker 9: So come on out and meet him or foster him.
- 9:53Speaker 9: He has a foster candidate, so he would be a great, great,
- 9:55Speaker 9: great boy for that.
- 9:56Speaker 3: He's a great looking dog.
- 9:57Speaker 5: And again, if you want to see Mony's picture, I've
- 9:59Speaker 5: got to post it on my social media. It's Dave
- 10:01Speaker 5: Allen Radio and at Dave A seventy on xc ARE
- 10:04Speaker 5: just formally known to Twitter, Hannah. I don't need to
- 10:07Speaker 5: tell you or tell the listeners how cold it's been
- 10:09Speaker 5: recently with the attempts we had last night, plenty more
- 10:12Speaker 5: to come later this winter, although we are going to
- 10:14Speaker 5: see a bit of a warm up over the next
- 10:15Speaker 5: couple of days. You've got to get those animals inside.
- 10:18Speaker 3: And I know that you have.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Those people that say, well, I've got a fill in
- 10:21Speaker 5: breed here and they love it outside. And look, I'm
- 10:23Speaker 5: not going to argue people about that, but you've got
- 10:26Speaker 5: to provide something for them outside right or inside.
- 10:31Speaker 9: Yes, yes, it is getting colder. So of course we
- 10:34Speaker 9: do always always recommend looking up some resources or even
- 10:39Speaker 9: calling us so we can give you a lot of
- 10:40Speaker 9: different resources to help out with outdoor animals that you
- 10:43Speaker 9: may have, like cats that are roaming around or something
- 10:46Speaker 9: like that. If you have more of like an indoor
- 10:49Speaker 9: outdoor dog or something, or you know, I know there's
- 10:52Speaker 9: people out there that have just fully outdoor dog. So
- 10:55Speaker 9: if you do have any of those, just feel free
- 10:57Speaker 9: to call us. We will help you if you're not
- 10:59Speaker 9: sure of you know, like the weather, temperatures that dogs
- 11:03Speaker 9: can stand and stuff like that. So definitely definitely reach
- 11:06Speaker 9: out and we will definitely help out because we do
- 11:08Speaker 9: want these babies to be safe and secure this wintern,
- 11:10Speaker 9: all right, before.
- 11:11Speaker 3: We let you go. How are we looking on numbers
- 11:12Speaker 3: at the.
- 11:13Speaker 9: Shelter, So we're still we're still prettyhigh. We done a
- 11:17Speaker 9: good bit on Black Friday and Saturday and we definitely
- 11:23Speaker 9: got a lot of them out the building. But of
- 11:25Speaker 9: course it is that time of year where we just
- 11:28Speaker 9: are well, actually, it's actually not really that time of year.
- 11:31Speaker 9: I don't think that we were like this very much
- 11:33Speaker 9: last year, still being so full during the winter months.
- 11:37Speaker 9: So definitely come out, adopt, volunteer, foster, donate in any
- 11:43Speaker 9: way that you can. We definitely appreciate every single thing.
- 11:46Speaker 9: We also have stocking stuffers going on right now, so
- 11:48Speaker 9: if you want to come up and grab a stocking stuffer,
- 11:50Speaker 9: take it home with you, fill it up, bring it
- 11:52Speaker 9: back for a shelter pet to open on Christmas morning,
- 11:55Speaker 9: then that would be amazing and they would love it
- 11:57Speaker 9: as well.
- 11:58Speaker 3: All Right, Hannah's always appreciate you being here. Stay warm.
- 12:01Speaker 3: We'll talk again soon.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, thank you, and a gardner again from
- 12:04Speaker 5: the Kanaal Charleston Humaine Association with the story of Monty.
- 12:08Speaker 5: This week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Mandis
- 12:10Speaker 5: a ten month old male and he's free his His
- 12:13Speaker 5: adoption has already been taken care of, so so no fees.
- 12:17Speaker 5: He's already newtered, he's already micro chipped, already vaccinated. He's
- 12:20Speaker 5: around thirty eight pounds. Great looking dog, very social, very playful,
- 12:25Speaker 5: appears to be great with kids. But again they always
- 12:27Speaker 5: want to advise caution. So check out Manti's picture. I've
- 12:31Speaker 5: got him posted on Dave Island Radio on Facebook and
- 12:33Speaker 5: at Dave a seventy on Twitter. And he's also a
- 12:36Speaker 5: candidate for fostering. So if you just want to, like,
- 12:38Speaker 5: you know, break him out of there for a little
- 12:40Speaker 5: while and let him serve as your foster pet, you
- 12:43Speaker 5: can do that as well.

- 16:09Speaker 5: hear you say Porter Wagner was going to be on
- 16:11Speaker 5: your show. I may have heard that totally wrong, though,
- 16:15Speaker 5: Yes he is, and he's with us right now.
- 16:17Speaker 3: You get that a lot, don't you, Porter. Yeah, I do. Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 3: I do, not that Porter Wagon.
- 16:22Speaker 11: No, I'm not that one.
- 16:23Speaker 3: That's just one.
- 16:24Speaker 12: That's just my actual nickname.
- 16:25Speaker 5: But this one's still living. And I can tell you
- 16:27Speaker 5: because I'm because I'm actually looking.
- 16:28Speaker 3: At him right here. Correct in studio.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Porter Wagner's here again with the group Pick of the
- 16:34Speaker 5: Litter Animal Rescue Group.
- 16:35Speaker 3: But welcome back to the show man. Haven't had you
- 16:37Speaker 3: on in a while.
- 16:37Speaker 12: Everything's going to fine, thank you.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, And of course you were you know
- 16:41Speaker 5: where I first and I talked about this the last
- 16:43Speaker 5: time you were on the first time I became acquainted
- 16:45Speaker 5: with you was seeing the TV segments that you used
- 16:48Speaker 5: to do, and uh and so, uh, we're glad to
- 16:50Speaker 5: have you on.
- 16:50Speaker 12: Radio when I worked with the Work for the Animal Shelf.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you see you on there.
- 16:54Speaker 5: But now now it's tell us before we get into
- 16:56Speaker 5: the event that you've got going on, tell us about
- 16:58Speaker 5: the rescue group that you're part of.
- 17:00Speaker 12: Now, well, it's it's called Pick of the litter, and
- 17:02Speaker 12: we concentrate a lot on puppies and kittens and really
- 17:05Speaker 12: small neil nations, but we also do adult cats adult
- 17:09Speaker 12: dogs too, which we try to help the ones that
- 17:11Speaker 12: are abused or or neglected or on the street. And
- 17:15Speaker 12: that's our purpose. That's our goal is to help as
- 17:19Speaker 12: many animals as we possibly can. So we work at
- 17:21Speaker 12: kind of conjunction with the animal shelter on green Bar Street.
- 17:25Speaker 3: And how long has this group been in existence.
- 17:27Speaker 12: Coming up on five years?
- 17:29Speaker 3: And you do some wonderful things.
- 17:31Speaker 12: And it is a five O three C five oh
- 17:33Speaker 12: one C three. I'm sorry, So we're nonprofit, totally totally charitable.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Let's let's talk about this event that you've got going
- 17:41Speaker 5: on tomorrow. And there may be a little bit of
- 17:43Speaker 5: confusion about it, because there seemed to be a couple
- 17:45Speaker 5: of flyers out there floating around explaining that to us.
- 17:48Speaker 12: The greens has their flyer and they, of course they
- 17:51Speaker 12: say it's ten to three, and then our flyer says eleven,
- 17:55Speaker 12: but we're going to start early at ten.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Okay, all right, what are you going on over there?
- 17:58Speaker 12: And this, by the way, yeah, greens Feet is actually
- 18:02Speaker 12: hosting it, and we have a on good authority that
- 18:06Speaker 12: Sannah will be there and there's going to be a
- 18:08Speaker 12: professional photographer. It's going to take photos with your dog,
- 18:13Speaker 12: your cat, your puppy, your kitten, and if it's also
- 18:16Speaker 12: open for children or adults if they want to talk
- 18:19Speaker 12: to Santa or if you want a picture with your
- 18:22Speaker 12: kid with a dog or a cat. And we're also
- 18:25Speaker 12: going to have dog treats for and cat treats for people,
- 18:30Speaker 12: adults and animals, and of course greens Fee's got a
- 18:33Speaker 12: bunch of stuff there too. Yeah, Rudolph's not going to
- 18:36Speaker 12: be there. We tried, but he's back getting the reindeer
- 18:40Speaker 12: in shape because.
- 18:41Speaker 3: They've been this time of year.
- 18:42Speaker 12: Yeah, they've been laying around all summer, so he's kind
- 18:44Speaker 12: to getting them in shape.
- 18:46Speaker 5: And you know, it's interesting Porter that you said this
- 18:48Speaker 5: because on Facebook today I was just peruising around and
- 18:51Speaker 5: I saw where somebody posted they said, does anybody know
- 18:54Speaker 5: of any photographers that are doing pet pictures with Santa?
- 18:58Speaker 5: And I actually I shared the flyer that you guys
- 19:02Speaker 5: had from your Facebook page to that particular page. Hopefully
- 19:05Speaker 5: you get some good turnout to marcause people people want
- 19:08Speaker 5: to include their pets in their.
- 19:10Speaker 12: I mean, it's they'll have little outfits. There's gonna be
- 19:13Speaker 12: a couple of elves there, Santa's helpers. Uh I just
- 19:16Speaker 12: noticed on there it's ten dollars for a digital copy
- 19:19Speaker 12: so they'll email it to you, or fifteen dollars for
- 19:21Speaker 12: an actual five by seven print. Okay, so should be
- 19:25Speaker 12: a funny event. Should be a funny event.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Yeah, the weather's going to be good to Mark, it's
- 19:27Speaker 5: gonna actually warm up a little bit. Santa doesn't care
- 19:30Speaker 5: how I know, Santa, but sometimes the pick Andese.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Do, right.
- 19:34Speaker 12: That's true, that's true.
- 19:35Speaker 3: DJ Meadows is going to be joining us little bit
- 19:37Speaker 3: later on DJ. You a pet gun.
- 19:38Speaker 13: You know, I'm not a pet guy. I can barely
- 19:40Speaker 13: take care of myself. It's not that I'm in high pet,
- 19:42Speaker 13: but between myself my three kids, I'm pretty much I'm
- 19:46Speaker 13: pretty much tapped out. But poor I was curious, at
- 19:49Speaker 13: any given time, how many different animals are you guys
- 19:51Speaker 13: trying to help. I mean, you talked about the need.
- 19:53Speaker 13: I understand how great that need is.
- 19:54Speaker 12: You're talking about the shelter. Ye both well, the shelter
- 19:58Speaker 12: I think has total I mean I'm probably get this wrong,
- 20:01Speaker 12: but over three hundred but that council ones that are
- 20:04Speaker 12: actually in foster, the residents up there. I think you
- 20:07Speaker 12: just talked to Hannah. There's like one hundred and some
- 20:09Speaker 12: large dogs and they've.
- 20:11Speaker 5: I mean every week Hannah comes on with us and
- 20:13Speaker 5: she tells me, and if you follow them on social media,
- 20:15Speaker 5: you'll know they've got them in offices, they've got them
- 20:19Speaker 5: where ever they can find a place for them.
- 20:20Speaker 11: And pick of the letter.
- 20:21Speaker 12: Kristin couldn't be here, she had another she's the founder
- 20:24Speaker 12: of it. She had another thing to do today. But
- 20:28Speaker 12: right now we've got about five or seven in foster
- 20:32Speaker 12: that are waiting to be adopted. We're currently caring for
- 20:36Speaker 12: for several in her home, little tiny Neo Nate puppies
- 20:40Speaker 12: and I mean, I'm sorry, kittens. So we always have
- 20:42Speaker 12: something going on. There's about twenty I guess total that
- 20:47Speaker 12: we're taking care of at the time.
- 20:49Speaker 3: And that's one of.
- 20:49Speaker 5: The things that Hannah and I frequently talk about, is
- 20:53Speaker 5: that if you are interested in helping out the pets,
- 20:57Speaker 5: and maybe you know you're not in a position to
- 21:00Speaker 5: to take care of them full time or whatever. There's
- 21:02Speaker 5: so many different things with groups like yours or with
- 21:04Speaker 5: the shelter that you can help out by just taking
- 21:06Speaker 5: them out for a weekend or a bring to foster.
- 21:09Speaker 5: I've got a friend of mine, he and his wife
- 21:10Speaker 5: are almost professional cat fosterers and that's what they do.
- 21:15Speaker 12: And we take up a lot of the overflow these
- 21:17Speaker 12: the small shelters. I mean, I'm sorry the rescues. We're
- 21:21Speaker 12: just one of them that they overflow from the shelter.
- 21:24Speaker 12: Rather than keeping them in there, we try to bring
- 21:26Speaker 12: them out and help find foster so we have a
- 21:28Speaker 12: foster base too.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Yeah, and people don't realize I think sometimes how traumatic
- 21:33Speaker 5: that being in that shelter can be for animals, especially
- 21:36Speaker 5: those that may have one time been a pet and
- 21:40Speaker 5: something happened.
- 21:40Speaker 3: And it happens so often, and normally when I have
- 21:43Speaker 3: Hannah on with our dot mey.
- 21:44Speaker 5: Plicep out of the week, she'll try to give us
- 21:46Speaker 5: a little background about this particular pet, whether it was
- 21:48Speaker 5: a stray. But sadly, many times, you know, the owner
- 21:52Speaker 5: passes away, or the owner moves somewhere where they can't
- 21:56Speaker 5: take the pet with them, or something like that, and
- 21:58Speaker 5: I always try to put my my mind as to
- 22:02Speaker 5: what the animal is thinking. It was like, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 5: I've been in somebody's loving home for seven or eight,
- 22:07Speaker 5: nine years, and now all of a sudden that person's
- 22:09Speaker 5: gone for one reason or another, and then you put
- 22:10Speaker 5: them in a shelter.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Many of them have no it is very stressful.
- 22:13Speaker 5: No, no, no memory of every anything like. That's first
- 22:17Speaker 5: time they've ever done that.
- 22:18Speaker 12: So the pick of the letter is strictly foster based.
- 22:20Speaker 12: Once we get them through the veterinarian and get get
- 22:23Speaker 12: them healthy, they'll go to a foster and then of
- 22:25Speaker 12: course up for adoption. And hopefully this this event will
- 22:30Speaker 12: kind of bring awareness to it too.
- 22:31Speaker 5: Yeah, hopefully that's and we'll get back to it here
- 22:33Speaker 5: in a cople moments that do have a text here
- 22:34Speaker 5: it says, I would love it if several people who
- 22:36Speaker 5: work and or volunteer at each of the different shelters,
- 22:39Speaker 5: the veterinarians offices, those who run rescues, and a few
- 22:42Speaker 5: different fosters, along with some city and county officials as
- 22:45Speaker 5: well as state legislators, to come on your show together
- 22:48Speaker 5: and seriously address all the heartbreaking and horrific cases of abuse, neglect,
- 22:52Speaker 5: and abandonments that seem to have drastically skyrocketed, not just
- 22:56Speaker 5: in Canaal, Puttenham and Cabal Counties, but all across the
- 22:59Speaker 5: state and the country. Some laws have to be changed.
- 23:01Speaker 5: People have to start going to prison. We must be
- 23:04Speaker 5: the voice for the voiceless.
- 23:05Speaker 12: Right, I mean we're currently aware right now under Patrick
- 23:07Speaker 12: Street Bridge there's two litters and there's just really yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 12: and if they're still alive because it's so cold and
- 23:15Speaker 12: the shelter of course is full and we're full, and
- 23:18Speaker 12: we're trying constantly to.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Do something about this. Well, you're to be commended for
- 23:24Speaker 3: what you do.
- 23:24Speaker 12: And we recently took a video of a dog abuse
- 23:27Speaker 12: situation on Hutchinson Street and that person got arrested.
- 23:31Speaker 13: Man as well. They should port of shame on me.
- 23:33Speaker 13: This is the first time learning of your organization. I
- 23:35Speaker 13: should should probably have known more about it. If someone's
- 23:38Speaker 13: like me and they're listening now and they want to
- 23:40Speaker 13: learn more about your organization, what you do, where can
- 23:42Speaker 13: they go to find that?
- 23:43Speaker 12: If we are on Facebook, and of course there's a
- 23:46Speaker 12: website pick a Little Litter twenty twenty west, Pick of
- 23:49Speaker 12: the Litter West Virginia dot org. The information come down
- 23:54Speaker 12: to greens feed and we'll be there. Yeah.
- 23:57Speaker 3: It wraps all over Facebook. Yeah. Just look, we're picking
- 24:00Speaker 3: the litter West Virginia.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Yes, I'm hard to find. And I'll tell you there's
- 24:03Speaker 5: a lot of events going on. You get all these
- 24:04Speaker 5: Christmas parades and whatever. There's three in the area that
- 24:07Speaker 5: I know, three or four that I know of tomorrow.
- 24:09Speaker 5: And I say that to say, if people are out
- 24:11Speaker 5: running around doing whatever.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Just swing by green Feed and Seed.
- 24:14Speaker 5: And even if you don't bring your pet with you,
- 24:17Speaker 5: because you know, I'm a cat guy and my cats
- 24:18Speaker 5: never leave the house. They have no interest in we
- 24:20Speaker 5: ever leaving the house. You know, they were brought in
- 24:22Speaker 5: as strays. And they're like, yeah, I'm not going out there.
- 24:24Speaker 12: Go to the shelter and get a dog, get a cat,
- 24:26Speaker 12: and come down to greens Feed. Yeah, and get a
- 24:28Speaker 12: photo at least then and we'll guess out for a
- 24:30Speaker 12: little bit.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Yeah, guess for a car, right exactly. Now, give us
- 24:32Speaker 3: the all the details on the time and so on
- 24:35Speaker 3: and so forth, to give it you there tomorrow.
- 24:36Speaker 12: Of course, Piedmont Road. Everybody knows where greens Feed is.
- 24:39Speaker 12: It's it's uh three fourteen Piedmont Road and starts at
- 24:43Speaker 12: ten o'clock till three o'clock and Santa will be there.
- 24:46Speaker 3: We'll be set up.
- 24:48Speaker 12: It'll be a professional photographer. Ten dollars for a digital copy,
- 24:52Speaker 12: fifteen for a print, and we'll be selling goodies and treats,
- 24:55Speaker 12: dog treats, cat treats.
- 24:57Speaker 3: For the animals. Sounds like a good time was going
- 24:59Speaker 3: to be a good I got out of Pune. All right,
- 25:01Speaker 3: thanks for what you do. Yeah, all right, thank you.
- 25:03Speaker 5: Appreciate you being here at Porter Widener again from the

- 27:55Speaker 5: Hoppy Kirchwuble Metronews talk Line the big guest TODAYDJ is
- 28:00Speaker 5: a former WVU football coach Neil Brown.
- 28:02Speaker 13: I saw that what a class act.
- 28:04Speaker 5: This is his first set down interview since his firing
- 28:07Speaker 5: last Sunday, and of course it's going to be with Hoppy.
- 28:10Speaker 5: Two segments with coach Brann at least two segments starting
- 28:12Speaker 5: at ten o six. Also this morning, Brad McIlhenny, we
- 28:16Speaker 5: now know that there's not going to be a special session. Now,
- 28:19Speaker 5: this was a bizarre lead up to a session that
- 28:22Speaker 5: now appears not to be happening. Interims are still going on,
- 28:26Speaker 5: and we'll talk about it a little bit later on,
- 28:28Speaker 5: but Brad and Hoppy we'll break it down in detail
- 28:31Speaker 5: coming up. Also, Peia, the rates are definitely going on.
- 28:35Speaker 5: That decision made yesterday. It's a lead story this morning.
- 28:37Speaker 5: WV Metronews dot Com. Also on the show today, Ryan Schmels,
- 28:40Speaker 5: the Fox News Radio and of course the always popular
- 28:42Speaker 5: steam release Hoppy kirchbal ten oh six from the Encove
- 28:45Speaker 5: Insurance Studios in the Dale Miller Building in Morgantown. Our
- 28:48Speaker 5: good friend TJ. Meadows is here, political pundit analyst.
- 28:52Speaker 3: What do we call you now, Tej?
- 28:53Speaker 13: Jack of all trades, master of none, you know, whatever
- 28:56Speaker 13: cliche you prefer. Can I just say return to a
- 28:59Speaker 13: second for the the topic of Neil Brown, I gotta
- 29:01Speaker 13: tell you, as a lifelong WVU fan, I think my
- 29:04Speaker 13: first game I was six years old, as a WVU alum,
- 29:09Speaker 13: As a guy that's worked around the football team a
- 29:11Speaker 13: little bit I really appreciate how Neil Brown has represented
- 29:18Speaker 13: this state, in this university, and how he has poured
- 29:21Speaker 13: in to young men to mold them as leaders, understanding
- 29:26Speaker 13: that most of them aren't going to the league, exposing
- 29:29Speaker 13: them to different opportunities, teaching them how to live life.
- 29:33Speaker 13: And at the end of the day, I'm also, you know,
- 29:36Speaker 13: a pragmatist. It's about wins and losses. Is as simple
- 29:39Speaker 13: as it can get. And you got to win in
- 29:41Speaker 13: today's culture. And this is a guy that came in
- 29:44Speaker 13: and tackled COVID. This is a guy that was trying
- 29:46Speaker 13: to mold the NIL and everything that was going on
- 29:49Speaker 13: in a time where you know, frankly West Virginia University
- 29:52Speaker 13: was a little slow to get on board with that,
- 29:55Speaker 13: and so he's always been at a disadvantage. But to
- 29:58Speaker 13: be able to walk away and walk away in the
- 30:01Speaker 13: fashion that he has and the way people have showed
- 30:04Speaker 13: an outpouring of support. Look, these players, they don't blow smoke.
- 30:09Speaker 13: And to see the outpouring that he's got on social
- 30:11Speaker 13: media from his players, I have no doubt when he's
- 30:14Speaker 13: on with Hobby today, at the conclusion of that interview,
- 30:17Speaker 13: we will all be saying to ourselves. We're better for
- 30:19Speaker 13: having had Neil Brown at this university and just the
- 30:22Speaker 13: way that he's hand And one of the things I
- 30:24Speaker 13: liked about him as well is the way he came
- 30:27Speaker 13: into West Virginia not a West Virginian, but he totally
- 30:31Speaker 13: adopted West Virginia and not only adopted, but adapted to
- 30:36Speaker 13: the mountain state. And then he taught his players the
- 30:39Speaker 13: importance of the things that we hold near and dear
- 30:42Speaker 13: in West Virginia. I mean, this is again not a
- 30:45Speaker 13: guy that had, as far as I know, ties to
- 30:47Speaker 13: West Virginia, so to speak. But he came in here
- 30:49Speaker 13: and he really became a West Virginian and he seems
- 30:53Speaker 13: like a really really I've only been around him a
- 30:55Speaker 13: couple of times, seems like a really, really decent human being.
- 30:58Speaker 13: Not a hint of a controversy in where in the
- 31:00Speaker 13: Neil Brown program other than the fact that he didn't
- 31:04Speaker 13: win as much as people would like and the pit
- 31:07Speaker 13: losses and in the rivalry games, and you had a
- 31:09Speaker 13: difficult time beating teams with winning records. And I understand
- 31:14Speaker 13: it's all about winning. I mean, it's all it's I mean,
- 31:16Speaker 13: anybody that says that college athletics is about academics.
- 31:21Speaker 5: You're an idiot, okay, because it's not. It's not about
- 31:24Speaker 5: academics at all. And now it's become a business more
- 31:27Speaker 5: than ever with the transfer portal. You know, the team
- 31:31Speaker 5: that West Virginia University fielded in twenty twenty four is
- 31:34Speaker 5: not going to be a lot of them anyway, the
- 31:37Speaker 5: same as it was in twenty twenty five. An athlete
- 31:40Speaker 5: comes into the program. Now it's all about what can
- 31:42Speaker 5: I do? How much money can I make for my family?
- 31:45Speaker 5: What sponsorship can you give me with a car dealership,
- 31:48Speaker 5: you know, with the nil stuff.
- 31:49Speaker 3: That's what it's all about now. And these coaches.
- 31:52Speaker 5: And I was having a conversation with a good friend
- 31:55Speaker 5: of mine who's a big, big time WVU.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Gal last night.
- 31:57Speaker 5: He and I were talking, and you know, they they
- 32:00Speaker 5: throw out the name Rich Rod, and they throw out
- 32:01Speaker 5: Jimbo and obviously other names. You know, they've been involved
- 32:05Speaker 5: in college athletics. You know, Rich has had some success,
- 32:09Speaker 5: especially down in Jacksonville State. But now it's not about
- 32:14Speaker 5: x's and o's anymore. You know, it's not about how
- 32:16Speaker 5: do you manage the It's all about managing the cap
- 32:20Speaker 5: and it's all about dealing with athletes now and this
- 32:24Speaker 5: is old guy in me talking athletes now that are
- 32:26Speaker 5: more concerned with their YouTube videos, with their tiktoks and
- 32:31Speaker 5: being on Sports Center than they are not say all,
- 32:34Speaker 5: but a great number of are much more concerned about
- 32:37Speaker 5: that and their brand than they are whether they win
- 32:40Speaker 5: a game, whether your university goes to a bowl game,
- 32:43Speaker 5: or oddly enough, whether you graduate or not. But the
- 32:47Speaker 5: graduation rate at WVU has been extremely good under Neil Brown,
- 32:53Speaker 5: which is good and as you said, and will get
- 32:55Speaker 5: off sports, as you said, the majority of these athletes
- 32:59Speaker 5: and not a knock against West Virginia University, it's just
- 33:02Speaker 5: the fact they are not going to go and play
- 33:04Speaker 5: anywhere else. Some may end up in Canada or in
- 33:07Speaker 5: the in the in the UFL or Europe or whatever
- 33:11Speaker 5: leagues that are out there right now. Some of those
- 33:12Speaker 5: may arena leagues or whatever. Their careers are pretty much done.
- 33:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:17Speaker 13: The other big concern I have is, you know, some
- 33:20Speaker 13: of these folks that are getting money and they're not
- 33:22Speaker 13: going to go to the league, or if they do,
- 33:23Speaker 13: it's not for long. That's what the NFL stands for.
- 33:26Speaker 13: You know. You hear about the kid at Michigan they
- 33:28Speaker 13: got what twelve million dollars? I think it was some
- 33:30Speaker 13: astronomical number. How does an eighteen nineteen year old kid
- 33:35Speaker 13: understand how to manage that kind of money and invest
- 33:38Speaker 13: it so that they're not broke.
- 33:39Speaker 5: When the majority of you come from backgrounds that whether
- 33:43Speaker 5: they're inner city or rural you know as we are, ye,
- 33:46Speaker 5: that didn't come from that kind of money, and so
- 33:48Speaker 5: they have no idea. You can't think a kid it
- 33:50Speaker 5: has nothing, and now you're throwing hundreds of thousands of
- 33:53Speaker 5: dollars add him through nil. And I mean, you know,
- 33:56Speaker 5: I was eighteen or nineteen years old once. My first
- 33:58Speaker 5: thing is well, I'm going to go get a car. Yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 5: that's my bad. I'm not thinking a couple of twelve.
- 34:03Speaker 5: I'm not thinking I'm going to go get a role ax.
- 34:05Speaker 5: I'm not thinking about what I'm gonna do, you know,
- 34:08Speaker 5: investment wise or whatever. But I think it's going to
- 34:10Speaker 5: be an interesting interview with Neil Brown. Again, he's this
- 34:12Speaker 5: is the first set down interview that he's done since
- 34:15Speaker 5: the firing. Two segments at least with Hobby coming up
- 34:18Speaker 5: introduced talk that at ten oh six. So Dave Allen
- 34:20Speaker 5: showing five any live broad to part by Morgan to Morgan,
- 34:22Speaker 5: America's largest injury law firm. All right, so TJ under
- 34:25Speaker 5: the dome this weekend, we were having a special session.
- 34:29Speaker 5: Now we're not. The interims are still going on. But
- 34:32Speaker 5: this has been a bizarre twenty four hours when this
- 34:37Speaker 5: first and it started leaking actually more than twenty four
- 34:39Speaker 5: hours ago. But there would be a special session. I
- 34:41Speaker 5: talked about it a little bit yesterday. I know that
- 34:43Speaker 5: Brad's followed it and Steven Allen Adams and all the
- 34:45Speaker 5: people we have on the show on a regular basis,
- 34:47Speaker 5: Amelia that they're going to have this major economic announcement
- 34:52Speaker 5: and it's going to coincide with interims.
- 34:55Speaker 3: But then they find out.
- 34:56Speaker 5: Yesterday in consulting with the Secretary of States office, that
- 35:02Speaker 5: if they were to do any voting, as best I
- 35:04Speaker 5: understand it, during a special session, it wouldn't be the
- 35:09Speaker 5: current legislators that were there, it would be the future legislators.
- 35:14Speaker 3: Correct.
- 35:15Speaker 13: Yeah, as best as I can understand it, I think
- 35:18Speaker 13: there's a case on the books that goes back. I
- 35:19Speaker 13: believe it was nineteen thirty one, and you can check
- 35:22Speaker 13: the reporting from you know, Brad Steven Amelia All. I've
- 35:25Speaker 13: read all of their pieces, very well done, and it
- 35:30Speaker 13: would compel the Secretary of State in a special or
- 35:34Speaker 13: extraordinary session to I'm going to paraphrase, bring the roles forward.
- 35:38Speaker 13: The voting certificates, and all of those were due in
- 35:41Speaker 13: to the Secretary of State i think earlier this week
- 35:43Speaker 13: from the counties basically certified election results. So that would
- 35:47Speaker 13: compel the Secretary of State in this case mac Warner
- 35:49Speaker 13: to come forward and present those roles of new legislators
- 35:53Speaker 13: to I would imagine the House and Senate leadership, so
- 35:57Speaker 13: in this case the or the House Clerk and the
- 35:59Speaker 13: Senate clerk, and so those what little more than twenty
- 36:03Speaker 13: individuals I think within both houses that are new mostly Republicans,
- 36:06Speaker 13: almost all Republicans, would would be compelled to come forward,
- 36:11Speaker 13: and if they were in attendance, would displace the former lawmaker.
- 36:16Speaker 13: And so you know, that is obviously, as you might imagine,
- 36:19Speaker 13: could be logistically problematic. Within you know, twenty four hours
- 36:23Speaker 13: forty eight.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Example of one that I know very well who is
- 36:27Speaker 5: who was elected to the House as a Republican and
- 36:31Speaker 5: he is replacing a sitting delegate who chose not to
- 36:34Speaker 5: run for re election. Yeah, so this gentleman who's a newcomer,
- 36:38Speaker 5: he's never served before, would be coming in and would
- 36:42Speaker 5: be asked to vote and to do all the things
- 36:45Speaker 5: when he's not officially you know, he's not he probably
- 36:48Speaker 5: didn't have a desk yet, he's not been there's no
- 36:50Speaker 5: office assignments yet.
- 36:52Speaker 3: That could be very, very problematic.
- 36:54Speaker 5: And now that we're in the month of December, a
- 36:56Speaker 5: lot of these folks are saying, Okay, well, the legislature
- 36:59Speaker 5: is going to get started, starts at later this year
- 37:00Speaker 5: because it's a gubernatorial succession here. So but a lot
- 37:04Speaker 5: of them are you thinking holidays, They're you know, taking
- 37:06Speaker 5: up the you know how it is the end of
- 37:07Speaker 5: the year. People are taking their leftover vacation whatever. So, yeah,
- 37:11Speaker 5: it could it could be very problematic. So we're not
- 37:13Speaker 5: having a special session, but interims are still going on,
- 37:17Speaker 5: and it is believed that the Republicans will be caucusing
- 37:21Speaker 5: on Sunday Monday to make a to decide who's going
- 37:25Speaker 5: to be a new Senate president. It's there's three names,
- 37:29Speaker 5: Eric Tarr, Tom Tacubo, and Randy Smith. And I've talked
- 37:33Speaker 5: to a lot of people under the dome that are
- 37:36Speaker 5: siding with this guy or side with that guy, side
- 37:37Speaker 5: with that guy.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I think it's going to be very contentious.
- 37:40Speaker 13: Yeah, and I think it'll be close. But you know,
- 37:42Speaker 13: the whole idea of that special session kind of brought
- 37:44Speaker 13: up another issue. You know, Tom Willis out of the
- 37:46Speaker 13: Panhandle beat Craig Blair, Kring Blair is no longer going
- 37:49Speaker 13: to be a Senator. So if Willis showed up, if
- 37:53Speaker 13: they had this session and Willis showed up, the understanding
- 37:56Speaker 13: was that Craig Blair would still be the presiding, non
- 37:59Speaker 13: voting office over the Senate. And that goes back to
- 38:02Speaker 13: a nineteen eighty four writ of mandamus from Neely on
- 38:05Speaker 13: the Supreme Court at the time that you had McGraw
- 38:09Speaker 13: and Rockefeller and Rockefeller, you know, leaving the governorship and
- 38:14Speaker 13: very interesting and you know, we had a whole debate.
- 38:17Speaker 3: On X about this is not a debate.
- 38:19Speaker 13: I would call it an enlightening because I learned something
- 38:21Speaker 13: and we decided at the end of the day that
- 38:23Speaker 13: this should probably be a new question for the Golden
- 38:25Speaker 13: Horseshoe Exam because it was that nuanced. But essentially, what
- 38:29Speaker 13: would happen is you would have Craig Blair continuing independently
- 38:34Speaker 13: to preside as a non voting officer until such election,
- 38:37Speaker 13: and even if the caucus comes up and picks their guy,
- 38:39Speaker 13: I think it's January eighth before that person actually steps in.
- 38:42Speaker 13: So you get all these nuances going on, and to
- 38:46Speaker 13: your point, interims are coming, so we're probably going to
- 38:48Speaker 13: get an understanding of who that leadership person, who the
- 38:50Speaker 13: president is going to be, and then maybe even some
- 38:52Speaker 13: chairs after that. Here's the interesting thing that it's not
- 38:55Speaker 13: getting answered, and this is kind of getting I don't
- 38:57Speaker 13: want to say lost in the conversation because just one
- 39:00Speaker 13: knows why why were we doing this? What was the
- 39:05Speaker 13: sense of urgency? I mean, it's been pretty well, you know,
- 39:08Speaker 13: rumored that it was somehow leaked to the Berkshire Hathaway
- 39:11Speaker 13: energy deal that was going on with the timid melting
- 39:18Speaker 13: operation that they had going on precision cast parts up
- 39:21Speaker 13: at the Old Century Aluminum site. But why why is
- 39:24Speaker 13: it so important that it has to happen now? I
- 39:28Speaker 13: have a theory on that. I don't know how far
- 39:30Speaker 13: down the rabbit hole you want to go, but it's Friday, man,
- 39:33Speaker 13: go ahead, do we have time?
- 39:35Speaker 3: Go ahead?
- 39:36Speaker 13: So It's interesting. Actually in the piece we were talking
- 39:38Speaker 13: about a million nicely at West Virginia Watch. I was
- 39:40Speaker 13: reading her piece. She's quoting Vernon Chris from from Wood County,
- 39:45Speaker 13: who's the current Finance chair in the House. And one
- 39:48Speaker 13: of the things that he talked about, he said, you know,
- 39:51Speaker 13: maybe this is something that has to be done for
- 39:55Speaker 13: for a permitting or a tax standpoint, needs to be done.
- 40:00Speaker 13: Got me thinking, and I started thinking, if I was
- 40:02Speaker 13: building a micro grid, a solar micro grid, and I
- 40:07Speaker 13: had to make that economically palatable, what's what's in the
- 40:11Speaker 13: mix and what could change. And this is where Washington
- 40:13Speaker 13: comes in. In twenty twenty five, there's going to be
- 40:16Speaker 13: a huge issue tax issue that Capitol Hill is going
- 40:20Speaker 13: to have to wrangle with because the tax cuts and
- 40:21Speaker 13: Job Acts of twenty seventeen that brought all of our
- 40:24Speaker 13: taxes down, brought down the corporate net income tax that
- 40:26Speaker 13: expires if it's not re upped. At the same time,
- 40:30Speaker 13: you've got the IRA that has incentive tax credits production
- 40:34Speaker 13: tax credits to the tune of almost thirty percent for
- 40:37Speaker 13: a lot of these solar projects. The talk in Washington
- 40:41Speaker 13: is if we want to continue the tax CUTT and
- 40:45Speaker 13: Job Act, and the President campaigned on this, although I
- 40:48Speaker 13: don't think you can put all of the toothpaste back
- 40:50Speaker 13: in the tube. Do we want to roll back the IRA?
- 40:54Speaker 13: Do we want to take that thirty percent ITC and
- 40:56Speaker 13: PTC off the table? I think EVS and those tax credits,
- 40:59Speaker 13: those are probably gone from the people I talked to
- 41:01Speaker 13: in Washington.
- 41:03Speaker 3: But you know, if you.
- 41:04Speaker 13: Took what's left of the IRA and stripped it away,
- 41:07Speaker 13: you know you're talking about maybe six hundred million dollars
- 41:11Speaker 13: versus the billions and billions that you're going to need
- 41:13Speaker 13: for the tax CUTT and Job backed and that is
- 41:15Speaker 13: a signature piece of legislation that the President got through
- 41:18Speaker 13: in his first term. So, if you're BH, or you're
- 41:21Speaker 13: someone that has made an investment banking on these tax
- 41:24Speaker 13: credits to make your investment palatable, what do you want
- 41:29Speaker 13: to do to get grandfathered in? And one of the
- 41:31Speaker 13: provisions is if you've got a certain percentage of construction
- 41:34Speaker 13: done by this year, you can be grandfathered into the
- 41:37Speaker 13: IRS regulations. I'm not saying that's what's going on here,
- 41:40Speaker 13: but I'm trying to put everything together and piece of
- 41:42Speaker 13: story in my mind that makes sense. And when you
- 41:46Speaker 13: talk about what was rumored to be in that bill
- 41:48Speaker 13: expanding the acreage, right, maybe they need more solar panels
- 41:51Speaker 13: than what they first thought, so they need larger lands,
- 41:54Speaker 13: allowing the lands to be not just state owned or least,
- 41:58Speaker 13: but I guess Private Land Act position to come in
- 42:01Speaker 13: in the back of my mind. All of this kind
- 42:04Speaker 13: of comes together to say, look, you know, we're depending
- 42:06Speaker 13: on these itcs and PTCs. We need to make sure
- 42:09Speaker 13: we get this thing rolling, and we need to check
- 42:11Speaker 13: whatever box of the FEDS, and we need to and
- 42:13Speaker 13: we need some help from the state legislature to ensure
- 42:15Speaker 13: we can make that happen.
- 42:16Speaker 3: Talking to TJ.
- 42:17Speaker 5: Meadows again, the Dave Island Show and five ety LIVEE
- 42:19Speaker 5: presented depart by Generations Physical Therapy nine practices all offered
- 42:23Speaker 5: extended hour. So access to physical therapy has never been
- 42:25Speaker 5: easier for an appointment called three zero, four, seven, six,
- 42:28Speaker 5: zero fifty six to sixty or visit generationspt dot com.
- 42:31Speaker 13: That's a hypothesis on my part. Take that and whatever
- 42:34Speaker 13: it costs for a cup of coffee at go Mart
- 42:36Speaker 13: three bucks, and you'll get that cup of coffee.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Right all right? Let me do this the lead story
- 42:40Speaker 3: this morning.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I'll do this and we'll go to break because I
- 42:42Speaker 5: gotta I want to pick your brand on some national things.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Lead story this morning. Brad's got at wv metronews dot
- 42:47Speaker 5: com and he'll be on with Hopy to talk about it.
- 42:49Speaker 5: The PEIA Finance Board is set to adopt most of
- 42:53Speaker 5: the cost increases for employees and retirees, what would probably
- 42:56Speaker 5: be around a forty percent or so increase in deductibles
- 42:59Speaker 5: are an average of more than three hundred bucks, and
- 43:01Speaker 5: bumping up the costs for spouses from one hundred and
- 43:04Speaker 5: forty seven to three fifty.
- 43:05Speaker 3: That's three hundred and fifty. Most people, TJ.
- 43:09Speaker 5: I don't know how closely you followed is, but most
- 43:10Speaker 5: people on the side of say the unions aren't blaming
- 43:14Speaker 5: the PEA.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Board at all.
- 43:15Speaker 5: They're blaming the legislature. We're allowing it to get this way.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Any thoughts from you on.
- 43:21Speaker 13: That, Yeah, I went to the Charleston meeting on this
- 43:23Speaker 13: and full disclosure transparency. My wife sets on the PEIA
- 43:28Speaker 13: Finance Board, so you know it's not something she and
- 43:31Speaker 13: I talk about. We prefer not to talk about those
- 43:33Speaker 13: things around the dinner table. Yeah, just full disclosure. She
- 43:36Speaker 13: does her thing, I do mine. But I did go
- 43:38Speaker 13: to the Charleston meeting because it was curious. I would
- 43:40Speaker 13: say ninety percent of the people weren't blaming the board.
- 43:42Speaker 13: I think there's probably ten percent that blames the board
- 43:44Speaker 13: and the legislature. It's unfortunate, but look, there are a
- 43:48Speaker 13: lot of external factors that the PAA Finance Board doesn't control,
- 43:52Speaker 13: or even the legislature for that standpoint, medical inflation. The
- 43:55Speaker 13: costs are going up. But when I look at the
- 43:57Speaker 13: situation and I compare it to the market, you know
- 44:02Speaker 13: where I'm employed. I mean, for the most part, we
- 44:04Speaker 13: don't even have a PPO option anymore. Everything is a
- 44:07Speaker 13: high deductible plan. And that's just the way the private
- 44:09Speaker 13: sector is moving. I look at how many people are
- 44:11Speaker 13: on the states PIA high delictible plan. I think out
- 44:14Speaker 13: of the what tens of thousands they insureds, about eight
- 44:16Speaker 13: fourteen hundred people maybe, I think was the number I saw.
- 44:19Speaker 3: So it's very nil.
- 44:21Speaker 13: I get that, Hey, we give great benefits because we
- 44:23Speaker 13: don't have great pay Look, something is only sustainable as
- 44:29Speaker 13: long as it is, and with the dire economics that
- 44:32Speaker 13: we face here in West Virginia oftentimes. I don't know
- 44:35Speaker 13: how you're going to fix this. I don't know what
- 44:37Speaker 13: the quote unquote permanent fix is other than one of
- 44:40Speaker 13: the things I heard at the Charleston meeting, which I
- 44:42Speaker 13: think is just a horrible idea to entertain. I mean,
- 44:45Speaker 13: let's talk about everything, but it was floated again. Hey,
- 44:48Speaker 13: let's put you know, let's put an income tax on
- 44:51Speaker 13: every deck or every MCF gas that we drill that
- 44:54Speaker 13: goes out of the state. Natural gas is a commodity.
- 44:57Speaker 13: It's traded as a commodity at various price points, the
- 45:00Speaker 13: used to set by Henry Hub down in Louisiana. And
- 45:02Speaker 13: we have a negative basis here, which means, you know,
- 45:04Speaker 13: if Henry Hub's at three bucks, we might get a
- 45:06Speaker 13: buck fifty here for a MCF. I'd have to look
- 45:09Speaker 13: this morning and see what it is. With that said,
- 45:11Speaker 13: all you're gonna do is disincentivize exploration companies to come
- 45:14Speaker 13: into West Virginia and drill here. They'll go to pa
- 45:17Speaker 13: and the marcellis there, or the Utica in Ohio. And
- 45:21Speaker 13: you know, if you're looking to run an industry off,
- 45:25Speaker 13: in my humble opinion, that's one way to start.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Quick Texas scary time for being responsible for raising healthcare
- 45:31Speaker 5: costs as a Texter. All right, we got to take
- 45:33Speaker 5: a break. I do want to remind you that West

- 48:53Speaker 5: Hopey did a great job. How did you manage to
- 48:57Speaker 5: text that while sitting across the table? I know you
- 48:58Speaker 5: excuse me all the time. No, there was there was no.
- 49:02Speaker 5: It was an employment thing. I had nothing to do
- 49:03Speaker 5: with the talk line. It was things you were doing
- 49:05Speaker 5: outside of radio that. Okay, you went to jail. Let's
- 49:09Speaker 5: just could put it out. Well, yeah, no, so he
- 49:10Speaker 5: didn't go to so.
- 49:11Speaker 13: Believe it or not. I have a full time job
- 49:15Speaker 13: aside from any of this, and you know, honestly, at
- 49:18Speaker 13: the time, I had responsibilities that were a little bit
- 49:23Speaker 13: higher profile for my employer. I spoke publicly on their
- 49:25Speaker 13: behalf in many instances, and a lot of the industry
- 49:30Speaker 13: that I was in is stuff that comes up on
- 49:31Speaker 13: a show like talk line. So it just wasn't a
- 49:34Speaker 13: good idea at the time me to be doing that
- 49:36Speaker 13: at the time. And now you know, I've retired now
- 49:38Speaker 13: from where I'm at, and so I can, you know,
- 49:41Speaker 13: come on here and talk.
- 49:41Speaker 3: With you on occasion.
- 49:42Speaker 5: All right, Lucky, you mean yeah, I mean that's sincerely
- 49:45Speaker 5: about the way. Going back to the issues in West Virginia, Texas,
- 49:49Speaker 5: the real issue here is that the people of the
- 49:50Speaker 5: governor's office simply don't know what they're doing. They present
- 49:53Speaker 5: themselves as amateurs, and I don't I don't know that
- 49:56Speaker 5: to be true or not true or whatever, but I
- 49:59Speaker 5: did want to.
- 50:00Speaker 13: In more context.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Yeah, well, follow follow up that texture if well, well,
- 50:04Speaker 5: I tell you that older vaccines should protect themselves against

- 50:16Speaker 5: for by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
- 50:18Speaker 5: All right, before we go, I want to get your
- 50:20Speaker 5: take on some national things here. Okay, I mean, I
- 50:24Speaker 5: use this joke, but I totally stole from a stand
- 50:26Speaker 5: up comedian who the president's folks are referred to as
- 50:29Speaker 5: the cabinet, some of the people that he's put out
- 50:31Speaker 5: there and some of these positions could be referred to
- 50:33Speaker 5: as the junk drawer. I stole that completely from a
- 50:36Speaker 5: stand up comedian. I mean some of these guys. I mean,
- 50:39Speaker 5: I know Matt Gates is his comeback. I mean I
- 50:41Speaker 5: think we all pretty much ye know that. But now
- 50:44Speaker 5: this HEGSAF guy, Now, where are you on him? And
- 50:48Speaker 5: some of the others, Lynda McMahon or some of the others.
- 50:51Speaker 13: I think hegsth Is is front and center. I think
- 50:55Speaker 13: for me personally, you know, if I'm picking a defense secretary,
- 50:58Speaker 13: I want a guy who's been a four star general,
- 51:00Speaker 13: that's won battles and you know, has been a little
- 51:03Speaker 13: bit elevated and has some executive experience. I'm not knocking
- 51:07Speaker 13: heg Seth, but I mean from an executive what kind
- 51:09Speaker 13: of organization has he ever run? You know, And even
- 51:12Speaker 13: if you have strong number twos and threes around you,
- 51:15Speaker 13: you need the experience of running a large fortune five
- 51:19Speaker 13: hundred or some kind of organization as big as the
- 51:22Speaker 13: Defense Department. Here's the thing. Man. You know, I think
- 51:26Speaker 13: he deserves a fair hearing, and I don't think I
- 51:30Speaker 13: think it's actually wise not to judge until all of
- 51:32Speaker 13: the information is there. You and I will never have that.
- 51:35Speaker 5: And I'm hearing though there is some scuttle that the
- 51:37Speaker 5: Trump is starting to back away from there is.
- 51:39Speaker 13: Public documented but at the same time on truth social
- 51:41Speaker 13: this morning, about thirty minutes ago, Trump came out and
- 51:44Speaker 13: said it was all fake news. So you know this
- 51:46Speaker 13: is classic president, you know, hedging his bets. Does he
- 51:50Speaker 13: really want heg Seth? Will he die on the heg
- 51:52Speaker 13: Seth Hill? I don't think so.
- 51:54Speaker 3: But what do I know?
