- 0:11Speaker 1: movies we watched this past week. My favorite murder live
- 0:15Speaker 1: show was Fierce. We're going to be talking about that
- 0:18Speaker 1: one gay bar in Maine. You know who you are,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and we have our favorite guest, Walter Masterson. It's on
- 0:23Speaker 1: the show today, So stick around, sit your butt down.
- 0:28Speaker 1: It's very mad, Max, I guess, or a little bit
- 0:34Speaker 1: like a cranberry sauce, like a string of cranberry garland.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You just went in my purse.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I didn't go in your person. Person was wide open.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It was a ma and but there was a tissue,
- 0:50Speaker 1: as you said, you want a tissue. And I look
- 0:52Speaker 1: over purses, open tissue sitting right on top.
- 0:55Speaker 2: But you went in it.
- 0:56Speaker 1: My mother raised me, right, I know, not to ever
- 0:58Speaker 1: go in a woman's purse.
- 0:59Speaker 2: But you she written, I mean did she There was
- 1:02Speaker 2: a This was.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Not this was not being any This wasn't breaking and entering.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I mean, you weren't digging in the bag, but you.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Wasn't rooting around.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Weren't rooting around, but you reached into my purse. So
- 1:14Speaker 3: I want to tell you something. So, do you remember
- 1:18Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago, So after the podcast dropped
- 1:22Speaker 3: and everybody, so I told my friends, I told my family,
- 1:25Speaker 3: and you made the Haitian family group chat.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Do you remember this?
- 1:30Speaker 1: This has been the goal of my entire fund as
- 1:32Speaker 1: well it should be because Okay, what people need to
- 1:35Speaker 1: understand Melissa's phone it looks like like a cluster of
- 1:40Speaker 1: grapes of all the fucking group chat she has. Like
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm not kidding, I don't think she has normal I
- 1:45Speaker 1: don't think she has person one to one chats. It's
- 1:49Speaker 1: it's all group chats.
- 1:51Speaker 3: No, no, no, there's definitely because here's the thing. When you
- 1:53Speaker 3: have a large extended family. I have a huge extended family.
- 1:58Speaker 3: There's like the main group chat, and then they're like
- 2:01Speaker 3: the subgroup chat, yes, right, because they're little offshoots. And
- 2:06Speaker 3: then there's like there's like the talking shit group chats.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Like I was gonna say, there's got to be a
- 2:10Speaker 1: group chat to talk about the.
- 2:12Speaker 2: About the wayward cousin or something.
- 2:14Speaker 1: If you're not in if you're in a group chat
- 2:18Speaker 1: and you're not in the subgroup chat, it's because the
- 2:20Speaker 1: subgroup chat is about well, I.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Am certain that there is also a subgroup chat right
- 2:24Speaker 3: because I am.
- 2:26Speaker 2: There has to be.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a subgroup chat of like did you
- 2:28Speaker 1: see Melissa's got that podcast with that white boy?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Or or you maybe, But I also think that there's
- 2:33Speaker 3: like a subgroup chat about because I am I'm bossy.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I'm bossy and opinionated. It's listen, you have to know
- 2:41Speaker 3: who you And I'm also the I told you so cousin.
- 2:44Speaker 3: But I'm also let the record reflect, fuck off is
- 2:49Speaker 3: that I'm also the cousin that people tell their secrets
- 2:52Speaker 3: to because they know what I want.
- 2:54Speaker 2: They know that I won't know anybody.
- 2:56Speaker 3: However, I will say, and I have a bone to
- 2:57Speaker 3: pick with my brother and a lot of my cousins
- 3:00Speaker 3: is they will tell me things in confidence and they
- 3:02Speaker 3: will say, don't say anything to anybody.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I am laughing so hard because Melissa is that person
- 3:08Speaker 1: for me. She knows all of my secrets. And I
- 3:11Speaker 1: always say, I'm not saying this because I don't trust you.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I'm saying this because I need to say it for myself.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Please don't share this with anyone.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And I don't.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And but you get upset when I say you don't
- 3:23Speaker 1: tell anyone.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You're like, uh, well, because have I ever.
- 3:26Speaker 1: No, But I still am saying it for me. It's
- 3:28Speaker 1: for my guilt. It's soone. I'm at that at night
- 3:30Speaker 1: in my sarcophagus at four in the morning and my
- 3:33Speaker 1: eyes are still wide fucking open. I'm like, I know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: Melissa's not going to say anything because I said something, right.
- 3:39Speaker 3: So, but the problem with my family is that they
- 3:42Speaker 3: will tell me things and say don't say anything, and
- 3:45Speaker 3: then when the thing comes out, like if like one
- 3:48Speaker 3: of my cousins is pregnant, they just didn't want to.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Say anything to anybody.
- 3:51Speaker 3: They will say, oh, but Melissa new and then now
- 3:55Speaker 3: my aunts, so mom is looking at me.
- 3:59Speaker 2: My brother went away.
- 4:00Speaker 3: When my brother was in college, he did study abroad
- 4:04Speaker 3: in Molly and while he was there, he got malaria.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I did Molly and study abroad continue.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Did you really know? Oh? I was like, no, you
- 4:13Speaker 2: couldn't have.
- 4:15Speaker 3: And he called me and he said this is like
- 4:18Speaker 3: early two thousands, and he was just like, don't say anything.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I'm okay, but I'm in the hospital and I have malaria.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And I was like, oh my god, are you okay, yes, yes, yes,
- 4:27Speaker 3: And he was like don't tell mom and dad.
- 4:29Speaker 4: All right.
- 4:30Speaker 1: We have a rule in my family if anyone's in
- 4:32Speaker 1: the hospital, Yeah, you have to tell my mother because
- 4:35Speaker 1: whatever happened to you that landed you in the hospital,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you'll be there an extra week because she'll fuck you
- 4:41Speaker 1: up if you don't tell her that you're in the hospital.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'm seriou. It's like whatever, though, that was like the
- 4:47Speaker 1: rule growing up. Yeah, if you are in the hospital,
- 4:49Speaker 1: you have to call your mother, no matter even if
- 4:52Speaker 1: it's the most embarrassing sex related thing, you have to
- 4:56Speaker 1: call and tell her or else because she will mess
- 4:59Speaker 1: she will rock your shite.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Tipsy, I love.
- 5:04Speaker 1: She's out there, she's out here, fan of the pod.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 3: But he gets home and then he says, while I
- 5:10Speaker 3: was in MOLLI I got malaria.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But don't worry.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I told Melissa, and then my parents looking at me.
- 5:16Speaker 3: This happens to me constantly. It is so enraging, Melissa. Melissa,
- 5:24Speaker 3: you didn't tell me your son, my own son.
- 5:27Speaker 2: He told me to tell you.
- 5:29Speaker 1: When when I was traveling abroad and there was a
- 5:32Speaker 1: malaria risk where I was going, it was possible that
- 5:34Speaker 1: you could get malaria. It was a school trip and
- 5:37Speaker 1: we all had to take the like preventative malaria.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Medication bad dreams. Did you know that? Yeah?
- 5:42Speaker 1: So I was taking them and I was like, guys,
- 5:44Speaker 1: this is fucking me up, like this is r yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 1: like really messing with my life. And for some reason,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm talking to my friend about it. And I had
- 5:53Speaker 1: the medication with me and I was showing her and
- 5:56Speaker 1: I was like, and the pills are huge, and I
- 5:57Speaker 1: was just like describing it, and I was like, they
- 5:59Speaker 1: only gave me like so many. I had been taking
- 6:02Speaker 1: the pills you take when you get malaria. I had been.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You weren't preventeding. You were yourself that you did not.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Have malaria age sixteen. My doctor and probably my parents.
- 6:19Speaker 2: That's the doctor's problem.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And now they did. There's a big ice cream scoop
- 6:24Speaker 1: out of my brain.
- 6:26Speaker 3: So anyway, so you you made the family group chat
- 6:31Speaker 3: what I said, yea, And they were.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Like yeah, the tattis and the uncles and uncle and
- 6:36Speaker 2: Tati Tatsy is.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Aunt and uncle is uncle. Remember a nice green shot
- 6:41Speaker 3: at it. I'll give it to see I've been and
- 6:45Speaker 3: you were no, no, no, but you your response to
- 6:47Speaker 3: me was like, oh, this is going to be great
- 6:50Speaker 3: because I am going to get all the Haitian vanilla.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Oh do you have some? Oh my god, sorry to.
- 6:58Speaker 3: The sound guy, I bequeath you, Oh my god.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Perry essence of Vanilla. That's what they call me in
- 7:07Speaker 1: the group chat, Essence of Vanilla. Michael, Oh my god,
- 7:13Speaker 1: everyone's favorite blong screaming in the studio. I'm sorry.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Store for weeks and I've been waiting to give this time.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I'm so excited because okay, so for Christmas, ear muffs
- 7:26Speaker 1: everyone in the studio because you're getting this for Christmas.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I make Panatoni and I need a lot of vanilla
- 7:32Speaker 1: for it. My recipe calls for a lot, and I'm
- 7:34Speaker 1: going to spend all next week and weekend baking. Oh
- 7:37Speaker 1: my god. So okay, So backstory. For years, I want
- 7:41Speaker 1: to say, like at least five years, Melissa has been
- 7:46Speaker 1: her family has been maybe illegally importing vanilla from Haiti
- 7:49Speaker 1: for me and what can only be described as an
- 7:53Speaker 1: underground smuggling operation. But it does make my baked goods
- 7:58Speaker 1: so much better. There's nothing like it. Ana, watch your.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Fucking back once you go Hayitian vanilla.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You know it is going to leave your ass for me.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Okay, so great, Thank you so much.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to put directly in here. It's a baking.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It's a baking.
- 8:16Speaker 1: This is sidebar. This is where we sort of talk
- 8:17Speaker 1: about all the weird things happening in court, things happening
- 8:20Speaker 1: in the judiciary, things happening in our personal lives. Anything
- 8:25Speaker 1: you want to talk about right now that's going on.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I mean, court has been Court's been wild. We we
- 8:30Speaker 1: were out on Thanksgiving break.
- 8:31Speaker 5: I can talk about that.
- 8:32Speaker 1: We could talk. I want to hear about your Thanksgiving
- 8:34Speaker 1: Miss Cranberry necklace. But oh, this was fun. All the
- 8:38Speaker 1: fucking clerks at the courthouse submitted their rejections right before
- 8:45Speaker 1: four fifty nine pm on Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.
- 8:48Speaker 2: That was methodical and climbed out.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yes, it was cruel and unusual punishment. Eighth Amendment violation.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Well is it really?
- 8:56Speaker 1: No? But okay, gay people were allowed to be a
- 8:59Speaker 1: little dramatic.
- 9:00Speaker 5: It's a crutch.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Using it as a crutch.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I saw I saw the what is that the bird catch?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Which version?
- 9:11Speaker 1: William there's one you can see Robin Williams breaking in
- 9:15Speaker 1: that show where he just like starts losing a ship,
- 9:18Speaker 1: laughing like that movie. No, it's because you just don't
- 9:21Speaker 1: like gay people, or do you want to go on
- 9:23Speaker 1: the record, maybe straight to camera.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I'll tell you what I didn't like about it.
- 9:26Speaker 3: What I didn't like about that movie was that the
- 9:29Speaker 3: sun comes back and he's basically asking his dad to
- 9:33Speaker 3: not be himself so that he can get in good
- 9:36Speaker 3: with this senator.
- 9:37Speaker 1: The plot is.
- 9:38Speaker 2: That's what I didn't like about it. I was like,
- 9:40Speaker 2: that's shitty.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Took it too seriously, I suppose, but that was prob.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I was just like, what kind of a fucked up
- 9:49Speaker 3: kid is that you're fucking ingreat like me while you're
- 9:52Speaker 3: a straight mother.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Gone, just just hit the bricks. Yeah fo No. I
- 9:58Speaker 1: get hung up on certain and things in movies where
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'm like, we just watched Bogonia Bagunya. It's like it's
- 10:04Speaker 1: got Emma Stone, said Watson. There is something about it
- 10:10Speaker 1: that really was bugging me the whole movie, and I
- 10:12Speaker 1: was like, I can't wait for this to be over
- 10:14Speaker 1: so I can scream about it. And it was like
- 10:16Speaker 1: it was sort of like the gender power dynamic, like
- 10:18Speaker 1: we're sort of asked, is this woman sort of being
- 10:20Speaker 1: held hostage? And I won't I won't reveal anything about
- 10:22Speaker 1: it because it just came out, but she's sort of
- 10:24Speaker 1: being held hostage and she's like a corporate CEO of
- 10:28Speaker 1: a tech company. And it's very much like a tongue
- 10:30Speaker 1: in cheek like jokey kind of movie. Okay, and like
- 10:34Speaker 1: a lot of the punchlines and jokes. I was like, Oh,
- 10:36Speaker 1: we're kind of being asked to laugh at a woman
- 10:38Speaker 1: being held hostage, Like I don't love this, Like this
- 10:42Speaker 1: makes me feel weird and I couldn't get past it
- 10:45Speaker 1: and enjoy the movie because we don't take this seriously
- 10:48Speaker 1: enough in society, women be held hostage, murdered, killed right like.
- 10:52Speaker 2: And now it's the punchline.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And it's It wasn't like the punchline, but the fact
- 10:57Speaker 1: that she was such an abrasive, like uh, Elizabeth Holme
- 11:01Speaker 1: ceo kind of type, that was very much what they
- 11:03Speaker 1: were trying to go for this like tech ceo and
- 11:07Speaker 1: how she was sort of like unflinching in the face
- 11:10Speaker 1: of this hostage situation. I was like, we're being asked
- 11:15Speaker 1: to sympathize a lot with like the hostage holder, Like
- 11:18Speaker 1: we got his entire backstory, we got like why.
- 11:20Speaker 2: And all the reasons why this is justified.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And then it's her being like I'm a bitch, like
- 11:26Speaker 1: I'm not nice about to my hostage holder, and like
- 11:29Speaker 1: that was the joke. And I was like, okay, no,
- 11:33Speaker 1: this is I don't like this. This was it was bothering.
- 11:36Speaker 5: That's right.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and there there are there are twists in the movie.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I won't give them away, but I don't think the
- 11:44Speaker 1: twists justified. I couldn't get over that. Maybe it's because
- 11:48Speaker 1: I do work in the criminal laws space, or I'm
- 11:51Speaker 1: on like my favorite murder network. We're like we're always
- 11:54Speaker 1: talking about like women getting murdered, but right, and it's
- 11:58Speaker 1: just yeah, it's I was just like I can't laugh
- 12:00Speaker 1: at this, and like I don't really like the idea
- 12:03Speaker 1: that people are being asked to that's even if they're
- 12:06Speaker 1: cool laughing at it.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I was just like, yeah, that's okay to not like that.
- 12:09Speaker 1: We went to my favorite murder live, The King's.
- 12:14Speaker 2: It was so amazing.
- 12:15Speaker 3: It was so good and so you bought Brad. I
- 12:19Speaker 3: bought Andre and my brother and sister in law. We
- 12:22Speaker 3: had a great time, so fun, and I think it
- 12:27Speaker 3: gave me like a perspective is to their fan base,
- 12:30Speaker 3: which is these people are dedicated.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It was so cool, so so good.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It was like the colest part for me was like
- 12:37Speaker 1: everyone's emotionally.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Following along very much said and.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Like a really committed yes way, and I was too.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It was just it was just like very cool to
- 12:48Speaker 1: watch the storytelling unfold. It was it was really nice.
- 12:51Speaker 5: It was really good.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I was so excited to be Partian.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And we were in a part of Brooklyn that Melissa
- 12:55Speaker 1: described as the dark meat of the chicken.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Melissa did not say, yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You were like, this is the thigh meyt. I was like,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I've never been to this part of Brooklyn.
- 13:06Speaker 2: You know what I did say that.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I was like, I've never been to this part of
- 13:12Speaker 1: Brooklyn before.
- 13:14Speaker 2: You're used you're used to, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 1: The Chickensham Park, Slow and over.
- 13:22Speaker 3: What's at that hisstory place, Williams Williamsburg used to being that.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I used to this closet.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I used to live over there. And I'll tell you
- 13:30Speaker 3: when I lived in Flatbush, the King's Theater was.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Wooded up and it hadn't been renovated.
- 13:38Speaker 3: It was like on the chopping block, and I can't
- 13:40Speaker 3: remember what happened, people were just like, you can't get
- 13:42Speaker 3: rid of this theater and now it's like a site. Yeah,
- 13:47Speaker 3: I've never met a man who loves himself more than you.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about. I've got six
- 13:50Speaker 1: cameras on me right now and it's all my design.
- 13:54Speaker 2: You insisted. You were just like, where's the light?
- 13:58Speaker 1: Can we add another? I don't think we're.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Gonna be while.
- 14:02Speaker 3: The girl is like whatever, but you are like, I
- 14:05Speaker 3: need more lights.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I need more lights.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Karen Kilgarv said something to me when I was having
- 14:10Speaker 1: dinner with her. She was like, your tiktoks are really
- 14:13Speaker 1: close up on your face.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Man.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, it is about an inch away when
- 14:18Speaker 1: I'm filming. It started out a little further away.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And that's what this all began for you mine, you know.
- 14:24Speaker 1: What, I do want to take it through a quick genesis.
- 14:27Speaker 2: What happened, what was happening in the further way.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And then as I was filming on the street this,
- 14:32Speaker 1: I was saying more and more and making more and
- 14:33Speaker 1: more videos. So the camera got closer and closer to
- 14:36Speaker 1: my face. As the more and more I was filming
- 14:40Speaker 1: in crowded public streets, I couldn't be like out here
- 14:44Speaker 1: like this and with a lot of people around me.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So it just got it just got a lot closer.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I like what I see on behalf of the people.
- 14:54Speaker 1: We don't believe you, she said, we the people.
- 14:56Speaker 3: We the people don't believe you. This is about this
- 14:59Speaker 3: is about you. I mean, listen, if nobody should love
- 15:02Speaker 3: your face more than you.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You know what I had that little speech in middle school, yourself,
- 15:08Speaker 1: love yourself. I really took it to heart.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I mean, I think that we should take a book
- 15:12Speaker 3: from the page of the lovely Anna Snap And Okay, Anna,
- 15:19Speaker 3: who's always talking about self love?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Oh my god? Right, So I listened to her interview.
- 15:25Speaker 1: She's and she really is. She's she's so great, but
- 15:28Speaker 1: it really is. It is true. Wait, I didn't actually
- 15:31Speaker 1: heard about your Thanksgiving. I'm sorry. I haven't seen Melissa
- 15:34Speaker 1: in like many weeks.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I know my Thanksgiving was fine. I think we did
- 15:38Speaker 2: too much.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Oh and I got to tell you, so my friends
- 15:42Speaker 3: were coming for you a little bit.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And let me tell you why, because I accept the
- 15:47Speaker 2: challenge because and I will and I will tell you
- 15:50Speaker 2: exactly why. And I get it.
- 15:52Speaker 3: You went on al Gore and Beyonce Nohls's internet talking
- 15:56Speaker 3: about how not stressful Thanksgiving.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I did not.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Oh.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I was like, what did I say about al Gore?
- 16:02Speaker 2: Got nothing? Nothing? Yeah, but you were out here on
- 16:07Speaker 2: these internets.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It's not stressful. And I'm gonna double down. I don't
- 16:13Speaker 1: find it stressful. Okay, what we're what were your friends saying?
- 16:16Speaker 5: Well?
- 16:16Speaker 3: People, First of all, people will come sliding into my
- 16:18Speaker 3: DM asking me about this Michael person, where do you
- 16:22Speaker 3: even fucking know this guy from?
- 16:24Speaker 2: And I will also say that what did you make
- 16:27Speaker 2: for Thanksgiving this year?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Okay?
- 16:29Speaker 3: So wait, because that's the problem.
- 16:32Speaker 2: We're not stressful. It's not stressful. You weren't hosted for me.
- 16:39Speaker 2: You made mashed potatoes, Michael.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So I went out to a drag show the night
- 16:43Speaker 1: before because it was thanks Thanksgiving eve.
- 16:45Speaker 2: A choice was made and I was.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Up in Portland main where the gay bars are a
- 16:50Speaker 1: little bit. There's there's just a lot happening there.
- 16:55Speaker 2: There's a lot happening there, or not enough happening there.
- 16:57Speaker 1: How do I say this? Like, culturally, the gay scene
- 17:00Speaker 1: in Maine is like very different from New York. I
- 17:03Speaker 1: would say New York. It's like there was a crust
- 17:06Speaker 1: to the gay bars. There was a certain genes qua to.
- 17:09Speaker 2: The uh uh it was.
- 17:15Speaker 1: The gay bars in the gay I want to say bars,
- 17:18Speaker 1: it's one, it's one bar. It was a little bit
- 17:21Speaker 1: more of a die bar than I think I'm used
- 17:23Speaker 1: to trying to It was that the drinks were made
- 17:27Speaker 1: with pane and demarole. So what I'm saying is the
- 17:31Speaker 1: next day I was a little under the weather for Thanksgiving.
- 17:34Speaker 2: We don't care.
- 17:35Speaker 1: So we got home from the bar. Brad's asleep on
- 17:38Speaker 1: the sofa. I am now experiencing the polyurethane, the demarole,
- 17:46Speaker 1: trying to prep the food that I have that I've
- 17:49Speaker 1: promised everyone I was.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Going to bring the next day, mashed potatoes.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I'm mashing. I'm trying to mash potatoes and abriated. I
- 17:55Speaker 1: had to make two pies, and I like with crust.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I had made the crust previously. I mean, how Roman stuffing,
- 18:01Speaker 1: Alison Roman girlies? You know who you are, Okay? And
- 18:04Speaker 1: I also made something else that I was too drunk
- 18:06Speaker 1: to remember, so I think it was so sweet? Was
- 18:09Speaker 1: it savory?
- 18:10Speaker 2: It doesn't matter, It doesn't matter.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So the next day we were so tired, We're driving
- 18:16Speaker 1: to my aunts my Auntie's hat.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I need you to stop. I need you to stop.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Nobody cares.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I made like four or five things right.
- 18:24Speaker 3: But I think what what the people are feeling is
- 18:27Speaker 3: that for somebody who's not hosting people, the people people
- 18:33Speaker 3: you weren't hosting when you host we hosted this weekend.
- 18:37Speaker 2: You were invited, he was invited.
- 18:40Speaker 3: He was invited and opted not to come, which is fine,
- 18:44Speaker 3: but again, choices are being made.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And I was very stressed out.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I called you to like shoot the ship while you
- 18:51Speaker 1: were in the middle of hosting a party that I
- 18:54Speaker 1: have been invited.
- 18:56Speaker 3: And you said no, which is I was like, what's
- 18:59Speaker 3: listener today, I'm gonna call her.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I was like, I don't have time for you.
- 19:02Speaker 1: It's like, what's going on? And you answered and you
- 19:05Speaker 1: were you were entertaining it. And then two minutes and
- 19:07Speaker 1: you were like, you know, I'm hosting that party that
- 19:09Speaker 1: I literally fucking invited your ass to and you didn't.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You said you could have come.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 3: But like when you are hosting people, you are stressed out.
- 19:21Speaker 3: And I will say that there is not a time
- 19:23Speaker 3: where I have hosted where Andre does not tell me
- 19:26Speaker 3: to go get take a xanax and.
- 19:28Speaker 2: That do you No, I don't.
- 19:30Speaker 1: You don't do you don't do aware of my Dolly's moment,
- 19:32Speaker 1: just pop in a sandy bar and well, I wouldn't
- 19:35Speaker 1: be able.
- 19:35Speaker 2: To do anything. Yeah, no, I can't. You co wouldn't
- 19:38Speaker 2: be able to like I am be able to function.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Oh I can. I can panic my way clear through
- 19:43Speaker 1: a Klana pin. No, I can't easily.
- 19:45Speaker 2: No, I can't do that.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I took a. Well, we should probably talk about the headlines.
- 19:48Speaker 3: A little bit, right and we haven't talked about my Thanksgiving,
- 19:51Speaker 3: but it doesn't matter.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Talk about taking a Let's talk about what's going on
- 19:54Speaker 1: in the news right now. Okay, this is your algorithm
- 19:58Speaker 1: is show, and we're going to talk about what's going
- 19:59Speaker 1: on on in the headlines. We're going to be talking
- 20:01Speaker 1: about what's happening right now, Diva boots on the ground,
- 20:04Speaker 1: what's happening on your phone, what's popping up on the notifications?
- 20:08Speaker 1: Today was all about the ice block app. For me,
- 20:10Speaker 1: I couldn't get honestly, couldn't get away from it. Basically
- 20:14Speaker 1: what happened was like there was this app. It was
- 20:16Speaker 1: sort of like you could report ice presence in your neighborhood.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We talked to Robert Garcia about this a little bit.
- 20:23Speaker 1: He's doing something similar, but like on the congressional level.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But you could report like ICE activity. You know, I'm
- 20:30Speaker 1: on such and such a corner in Queen's this is
- 20:33Speaker 1: what's going on. And you could sign up for it
- 20:36Speaker 1: as a user and then be aware of where ICE
- 20:39Speaker 1: is in your neighborhood. And basically what happened was the
- 20:44Speaker 1: Trump administration. Pam Bondi pressured Apple to take it out
- 20:49Speaker 1: of the Apple store because it was interfering with their and.
- 20:53Speaker 2: They did, and they're folding. People are full. I feel like.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And Apple did it. I think they capitulated instantly. I
- 20:58Speaker 1: don't even think there was like public discourse, just.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Folding like a cheap suit, like a wet paper bag.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yep, yep. I don't have to come for my suit
- 21:06Speaker 1: like that.
- 21:06Speaker 2: But I mean, but see you a lot.
- 21:10Speaker 1: And so now there's a lawsuit. Ice Block is suing
- 21:15Speaker 1: the government. Get a girl, And Pam Bondi admitted she
- 21:19Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I did it, She like admitted it
- 21:21Speaker 1: in the press briefing.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Well they don't, okay, they no longer care, right right,
- 21:26Speaker 3: they no longer care I mean, I keep on thinking
- 21:28Speaker 3: about the President sitting there and saying Somali people are
- 21:33Speaker 3: garbage and doubling down on that stuff, like there is
- 21:37Speaker 3: no good send decorum, nothing has left. Yes, we are
- 21:44Speaker 3: out here raw dogging it and it's it's no, I mean,
- 21:48Speaker 3: it's really.
- 21:48Speaker 1: It's true.
- 21:49Speaker 2: No, it's true, fans lube just out here.
- 21:52Speaker 1: It is. And it's crazy because we're admitting to things
- 21:56Speaker 1: that are now going to be used in court. Like
- 21:58Speaker 1: when we talked to Rubert Garcia, he talked about this
- 22:00Speaker 1: a lot of just like we're papering the record, like
- 22:03Speaker 1: we're filling up the record of what we're gonna then
- 22:05Speaker 1: sue for later. And that's what Iceblock is doing. They're
- 22:07Speaker 1: taking Pam Bondi's statement and it's right there, it's quoted
- 22:12Speaker 1: directly in the lawsuit.
- 22:13Speaker 3: But I think they don't care because so far they're
- 22:16Speaker 3: they have been able to get away with it, right,
- 22:18Speaker 3: and they think that we can do whatever we want.
- 22:20Speaker 1: We own this, yes exactly, and like you know we've
- 22:23Speaker 1: got we'll just we'll just get pardoned later. George Santo's
- 22:27Speaker 1: style that I mess, I know, mess it is, it
- 22:34Speaker 1: is getting it's.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Well, it's also just you know, I am I'm embarrassed. Yeah, right,
- 22:40Speaker 3: I'm embarrassed. I'm yes, I'm anxious. Yes I'm angry. But
- 22:44Speaker 3: also there's a lot of like headholding.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Like what is going on?
- 22:49Speaker 3: Where are we? Why is this happening? Yeah? And I
- 22:52Speaker 3: mean and I think this is something I know. We
- 22:54Speaker 3: keep on sort of circling around this but trying to
- 22:57Speaker 3: figure out, well, what am I supposed to do?
- 22:59Speaker 2: Right?
- 22:59Speaker 3: So, like I was really hopeful about this ice block
- 23:02Speaker 3: app right because I want to know when ice is
- 23:05Speaker 3: in my neighborhood or near my workplace or even just
- 23:09Speaker 3: where I happen to be.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Because I want to help, right, I want to help.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I want to be sort of the town crier because
- 23:15Speaker 3: I that I those are the.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Things that I know that I can do.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Right, we can go through right now, I could do
- 23:20Speaker 1: a checklist of what you can do. You could be that,
- 23:23Speaker 1: you could be the town crier. Yeah, you just can't
- 23:25Speaker 1: obstruct justice. So like that's a very subjective thing. But
- 23:29Speaker 1: like so if the so if okay, wait.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Wait, wait hold on, But I think what I think
- 23:35Speaker 3: would be really helpful is what does that look like?
- 23:38Speaker 2: What does it look like by obstruct justice?
- 23:40Speaker 1: So ice is chasing some migrants in your neighborhood. Your
- 23:46Speaker 1: home door happens to be open and they run inside.
- 23:49Speaker 1: You can't like be like, guys, get in here, like
- 23:53Speaker 1: I'm going to help. You have to be. There has
- 23:54Speaker 1: to be a sort of if your door is open
- 23:57Speaker 1: and they happen to go inside, and you happen to
- 23:58Speaker 1: close it after, then you can deny the entry. You
- 24:02Speaker 1: can say this is my private home. You need to
- 24:03Speaker 1: have assigned judicial warrant in order to search the premises.
- 24:06Speaker 2: But if I were to say that, then.
- 24:09Speaker 1: You are committing a crime. I am, yes, I.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Don't see that, but I mean, I'm wondering if the.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Same thing goes for your business. So if you so,
- 24:17Speaker 1: like if you run a seven eleven and you have
- 24:20Speaker 1: a back room a private area, the police can search that. Right,
- 24:24Speaker 1: So if people had a whiting.
- 24:25Speaker 2: In there without a warrant, right without a warrant.
- 24:27Speaker 1: The warrant has to have like a signature on it.
- 24:29Speaker 1: It has to say honorable so and so at their signature. Okay, yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 1: but yeah, it's crazy. I mean, and then you know,
- 24:35Speaker 1: we do all this stuff and then I think I
- 24:37Speaker 1: made a video about filing a G twenty eight of
- 24:39Speaker 1: how people can file this form in order to get
- 24:42Speaker 1: a lawyer to help you. And then there's like new
- 24:45Speaker 1: precedent that says that you can't get bonded out if
- 24:49Speaker 1: you weren't crossing a border and being inspected by a
- 24:52Speaker 1: border agent or an asylum officer. Yeah, it's crazy, and
- 24:55Speaker 1: like we, you know, we come up with these rules
- 24:58Speaker 1: and then they change.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Well that's the thing is that they're changing so quickly,
- 25:01Speaker 3: and it's it's like we're changing the tires on the
- 25:05Speaker 3: car as the car is moving, right, Like that's what
- 25:08Speaker 3: it feels like. You don't know what to do because
- 25:12Speaker 3: it's happening so quickly and they're making it up as
- 25:14Speaker 3: they go along.
- 25:15Speaker 1: They are, They are, They very much are. I was
- 25:18Speaker 1: remember that client who was texting me. He just texted
- 25:20Speaker 1: me and said Jew.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah that guy.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, no, God bless him. Kid. Okay, so just for
- 25:27Speaker 1: those who don't know the law, I represent a child.
- 25:31Speaker 2: And he texted me, well, he texts you, he texts.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Me this way. He's learning English. And at one point
- 25:39Speaker 1: he just texted me and said Jew. And I was like,
- 25:43Speaker 1: we gotta do. We have to get into identity politics
- 25:45Speaker 1: and trying to like help him learn English a.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Little bit and education and educate him a little bit.
- 25:49Speaker 1: So I'm like I'm pulling out more information, like what's
- 25:52Speaker 1: going on with you? And turns out he was working
- 25:55Speaker 1: at a Jewish summer camp. So it was like just
- 25:56Speaker 1: like a surprise. I was like, oh yeah, it's just
- 25:58Speaker 1: like a very strange thing. He just love it.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Just didn't know any better, Yeah, exactly.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And so we got past that. But anyway, active case
- 26:08Speaker 1: right now, we're like we're in the middle of getting
- 26:10Speaker 1: him a green card and I've got all the judges approvals.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I've been working the case for years, and they just
- 26:16Speaker 1: detained him. He's like a kid, just detain it. And
- 26:19Speaker 1: it's like, okay, I literally have four judges who have
- 26:22Speaker 1: signed off on this and they no one gives a shit.
- 26:25Speaker 2: What can you tell without telling us?
- 26:27Speaker 4: Right?
- 26:27Speaker 2: Like, was he.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Just just rounded up? There was no like instance, there
- 26:33Speaker 1: was no like there was There wasn't a crime that
- 26:35Speaker 1: was committed. It was just like you know, being ground
- 26:37Speaker 1: in the wrong place. So then so then it becomes
- 26:41Speaker 1: like you know, what do I have to jump in
- 26:44Speaker 1: and like I have to figure out how to like
- 26:45Speaker 1: bond this person out. It's like where wait, we have
- 26:48Speaker 1: to wait years in order to get him citizenship, right,
- 26:52Speaker 1: so for all those years, he's just did this high risk,
- 26:54Speaker 1: potentially detained situation. Back to the checklist. I mean I
- 26:59Speaker 1: made a video today about like what white people can do,
- 27:01Speaker 1: because I we we have to think about it this way,
- 27:04Speaker 1: like what can white people do to help? Like how
- 27:06Speaker 1: do you flect your white privilege? And like I think
- 27:09Speaker 1: and I've seen it done really well online, especially with
- 27:12Speaker 1: the Portland raids, right to assembly, right to protest, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: right to record, especially in New York City too. I
- 27:20Speaker 1: mean those are our new mayor mom. Donnie was talking
- 27:23Speaker 1: a bit about in a video about how those rights
- 27:26Speaker 1: are especially protected in New York. So those are really
- 27:29Speaker 1: important rights to remember as you're thinking about supporting. And
- 27:34Speaker 1: we talked about it with Georgia and Karen too, like
- 27:36Speaker 1: how do you how do you help from your sofa
- 27:39Speaker 1: right right? Like how do you not like those of
- 27:42Speaker 1: us who are maybe less confrontational, we're talking to the
- 27:45Speaker 1: king of confrontation. In this episode, Walter Masters said a
- 27:49Speaker 1: little bit where he's coming to the studio, but maybe
- 27:52Speaker 1: not all of us are. Walter, No, I think you
- 27:57Speaker 1: want to do something from home, right.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I think the other though is that and I am
- 28:01Speaker 3: sort of guilty of this as well, is I feel
- 28:05Speaker 3: like I have to be careful not just sort of
- 28:08Speaker 3: just wish this stuff away, right, and be willing to
- 28:13Speaker 3: sort of do the thing. So are you willing to
- 28:15Speaker 3: go out? Like you could be upset at the situation,
- 28:18Speaker 3: but what are you willing to do? What are you
- 28:19Speaker 3: willing to risk?
- 28:20Speaker 1: Right?
- 28:20Speaker 3: And I'm not just anybody like risk their lives or
- 28:23Speaker 3: their livelihoods or anything like that, but like, are you
- 28:26Speaker 3: willing to go out to take it to the streets
- 28:28Speaker 3: and protests?
- 28:29Speaker 2: Are you willing to call people out? Do you actually
- 28:32Speaker 2: I mean, and I know we get.
- 28:33Speaker 3: So tired of hearing this kind of thing, but are
- 28:35Speaker 3: you actually willing to write your congressman? Are you actually
- 28:38Speaker 3: willing to do those things? Are you willing to get
- 28:40Speaker 3: involved in sort of grasproots organizations? And you have to
- 28:44Speaker 3: hold the mirror up to yourself and be like do
- 28:46Speaker 3: you really want to do those things or do you
- 28:48Speaker 3: wish that other people would do it and make the
- 28:51Speaker 3: problem go?
- 28:52Speaker 1: And I'm going to make it easy for you, because
- 28:54Speaker 1: you know what, I am that person who will pay
- 28:56Speaker 1: the forty dollars delivery fee for the seamless thing that's
- 28:58Speaker 1: right down the street. So if you are one of
- 29:01Speaker 1: those people and you just want to support without actually
- 29:05Speaker 1: doing anything other than throw money at the problem, that's okay.
- 29:09Speaker 1: There is like a very real place for you. Yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: there is the fight for justice for sure. My friend
- 29:13Speaker 1: runs a nonprofit. She represents people who are deemed mentally
- 29:18Speaker 1: unsound to stand trial by themselves. You don't have a
- 29:21Speaker 1: right to a lawyer in immigration court. You have a
- 29:24Speaker 1: right to consult a lawyer, but one will not be
- 29:26Speaker 1: provided for you like in criminal court. So basically what
- 29:30Speaker 1: she does is she's a defense attorney for those people
- 29:32Speaker 1: who are not mentally sound to stand trial themselves. So
- 29:35Speaker 1: you can go to the link in my link tree
- 29:37Speaker 1: and you can make a tax deductible gift to her
- 29:40Speaker 1: nonprofit where she does this defense work. She's incredible. But
- 29:44Speaker 1: these legal defense funds really are a great venue for you.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Maybe you don't feel like protesting, or you aren't a
- 29:50Speaker 1: lawyer who can go do something.
- 29:51Speaker 3: So somebody like your friend who has this nonprofit and
- 29:54Speaker 3: she's an attorney, so she has a very sort of
- 29:56Speaker 3: a very specific skill set. Organizations like that need volunteers,
- 30:02Speaker 3: people who do like people with a certain language skill.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Maybe it's maybe if it's somebody with a mental health issue,
- 30:08Speaker 3: like a social worker, like somebody go.
- 30:11Speaker 1: To immigration justice campaign. I've done a lot of work
- 30:15Speaker 1: for them in my life. They always need people with
- 30:20Speaker 1: a language skill or a volunteer or support or like
- 30:25Speaker 1: they have incredible resources. They've supported my entire immigration career,
- 30:30Speaker 1: uh with just like people helping write briefs, people like.
- 30:34Speaker 1: It is this extraordinary network of people.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Are you a good editor? Like can you help in
- 30:39Speaker 2: that way? Right?
- 30:40Speaker 1: And non lawyer support.
- 30:41Speaker 5: Right.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I think there are a lot of people and you know,
- 30:43Speaker 3: and I think a lot about you know.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I have this language skill. How can I you know?
- 30:50Speaker 3: And it's one of those things that you know, I
- 30:52Speaker 3: didn't go to school to learn how to speak frustration carell.
- 30:55Speaker 3: It just happened in my house. So I have it already.
- 30:57Speaker 3: And I know Haitian people very well, and I understand
- 30:59Speaker 3: the community, and I think that what can I do
- 31:02Speaker 3: to help my community?
- 31:04Speaker 2: Exactly?
- 31:05Speaker 3: So if you are somebody you've got those language skills
- 31:08Speaker 3: and you had the desire to be helpful, there is
- 31:11Speaker 3: a way to do that.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Yeah, we're your girls. We're here every week. We got you.
- 31:16Speaker 1: We'll be thinking this through with you, especially as like
- 31:18Speaker 1: Melissa says, we're changing the tires on the car while
- 31:21Speaker 1: the car's emotion unbelievable to me. Yeah, this will change
- 31:24Speaker 1: every week. But we're also here to support each other.
- 31:26Speaker 1: We got a fierce network of people we do, and
- 31:29Speaker 1: we're here to support you.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Interested in sort of like bringing more people into that network, right,
- 31:34Speaker 3: And like you know, if there's something that I don't know,
- 31:37Speaker 3: you tell me, I'll tell somebody else DM it to me.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Like you guys know, I probably overshare in my stories.
- 31:43Speaker 1: So if there is info that I can quickly screenshot
- 31:46Speaker 1: and just reshare, please please do us.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Michael loves a good oversharing moment, happy.
- 31:50Speaker 1: To do it. And y'all know I post without thinking.
- 31:53Speaker 1: So anyway, Walter's here, So we're going to go ahead
- 31:56Speaker 1: and reset. We'll take a quick break and we'll be
- 31:58Speaker 1: right back with Walter Master Center. We're so excited we're
- 32:03Speaker 1: here with Walter Masterson. He creates satirical social street interviews
- 32:07Speaker 1: and political pranks. His appearances have included rallies, protests, school
- 32:11Speaker 1: board meetings. He sometimes adopts right wing personas such as Maga,
- 32:15Speaker 1: Republican or supporter of Donald Trump. Welcome to the show.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Thank you so happy that.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we're really excited to have you on.
- 32:24Speaker 3: All right, so I'm going to ask you a question
- 32:26Speaker 3: right away because sorry do it.
- 32:30Speaker 5: So.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I've been paying attention to your social media for a
- 32:33Speaker 3: really long time. I really appreciate the work that you're doing.
- 32:37Speaker 3: I have to tell you, Walter, you go into these
- 32:40Speaker 3: situations and you're speaking with these people and I legitimately
- 32:46Speaker 3: have anxiety on your behalf, and I get worried about
- 32:50Speaker 3: your personal safety.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Do people say that a lot that they have anxiety?
- 32:55Speaker 4: People have said that I I have a problem with.
- 32:59Speaker 4: That's sort of thing of I usually tell people that
- 33:02Speaker 4: tag along. It's like, if you see me start to worry,
- 33:06Speaker 4: then it's a huge issue. Shouldn't panick because I sort
- 33:11Speaker 4: of have this very weird like, oh, everything's fine, yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 4: and then when it's when it's bad, I'm like, all right,
- 33:18Speaker 4: you got to go. If you've see me worrying, just
- 33:21Speaker 4: runs the safety for the people you ever.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Though, because because here's the thing, I think that when
- 33:27Speaker 2: we are talking about mega people, a lot of them
- 33:31Speaker 2: come across to me anyway, as absolutely unhinged and a
- 33:35Speaker 2: little on the wrong.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Side of crazy and sort of quick to violence, right,
- 33:42Speaker 3: and you are out there putting a mirror in front
- 33:44Speaker 3: of them if they get it right away, because sometimes
- 33:47Speaker 3: they're too stupid to understand what you're doing. But when
- 33:50Speaker 3: they finally maybe get an idea that you're coming for them,
- 33:55Speaker 3: what like, what is the because we're seeing a couple
- 33:58Speaker 3: of clips on social media, right, so we don't have
- 34:00Speaker 3: the big picture of what's happening. What is their reaction,
- 34:03Speaker 3: what do they say to you? What do they want
- 34:06Speaker 3: to do to you? Do you feel like do you
- 34:07Speaker 3: ever feel it?
- 34:08Speaker 5: Like?
- 34:08Speaker 2: Our shit?
- 34:09Speaker 4: There's been a few times when I've said, okay, Like,
- 34:13Speaker 4: there's been time one time I was getting kicked out
- 34:15Speaker 4: of a city hall. I was getting kicked out of
- 34:19Speaker 4: a town hall in Springfield, Ohio. That was remember that
- 34:24Speaker 4: they're eating the dogs count.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Rush, and I remember that very well.
- 34:28Speaker 4: My producing partner and I went there and spoke at
- 34:31Speaker 4: the town hall as members of the JD Vance campaign.
- 34:36Speaker 5: We believe in the.
- 34:37Speaker 4: American dream over at the JD Vance Campaign, and in
- 34:41Speaker 4: order to achieve that dream, we need to stop other
- 34:46Speaker 4: people from that dream.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Oh God, and we like leaned all the way into it.
- 34:54Speaker 1: How did you prepare for that? Did you dress a
- 34:55Speaker 1: certain way? Were you?
- 34:56Speaker 4: I had on my Heritage Foundation hat? And we came
- 35:01Speaker 4: there and it was it was actually pretty funny. So
- 35:04Speaker 4: like the funny. The part that went wrong was I
- 35:07Speaker 4: was supposed to give a speech. Then I produced the
- 35:09Speaker 4: partner was supposed to give a speech. Right, I was
- 35:12Speaker 4: a primer. His was absurd, so like over the way,
- 35:16Speaker 4: over the top, right, just absolute nonsense. So then they
- 35:22Speaker 4: switched the order so that he went first. Then I went,
- 35:25Speaker 4: oh no, and so right af right on top of
- 35:28Speaker 4: each other, and I go, oh wow, okay, this kind
- 35:30Speaker 4: of screws things up, but okay, roll with it. Yeah,
- 35:34Speaker 4: and they they tossed us after our speeches, and I
- 35:39Speaker 4: remember telling the police officer, I said, I mean, since
- 35:43Speaker 4: you're since you're throwing me out, can you just walk
- 35:47Speaker 4: us to our car? I mean, I mean, you're you're
- 35:51Speaker 4: you're going to escort me out of the building anyway, you.
- 35:53Speaker 5: Know, the car is fifty feet.
- 35:56Speaker 4: I remember the police officer was like sure, because we
- 36:00Speaker 4: people were like people were like and it was and
- 36:03Speaker 4: it was the perfect storm of furious because I had
- 36:07Speaker 4: maggot people that knew I was making fun of them,
- 36:11Speaker 4: absolutely furious at me. Then I had people that were
- 36:15Speaker 4: somewhat progressive that thought I was from the shady Vans
- 36:19Speaker 4: camp and they were furious with me. And then I
- 36:22Speaker 4: had people that they were just like, hey, you know what,
- 36:26Speaker 4: you know, you're coming here just mad because everyone's mad.
- 36:28Speaker 4: You're mocking our town. You don't live here, You're coming
- 36:30Speaker 4: here in fun of us. And I had just managed
- 36:34Speaker 4: to upset every demographic in that town simultaneously. I remember
- 36:41Speaker 4: we get in the car, We get in the car
- 36:44Speaker 4: and my reducing partners like, I'm like, so anyway, He's like,
- 36:47Speaker 4: go come on, come on, He's like, and then we're
- 36:50Speaker 4: like running red lights, like just like, do not take
- 36:53Speaker 4: your foot off the gas until.
- 36:55Speaker 1: To get out of dodge. Walter, you're often like behind
- 36:59Speaker 1: enemy lines. I love about all your videos is that
- 37:04Speaker 1: you always have a backup, like you have like three
- 37:07Speaker 1: or four. You do it in waves, like you start
- 37:09Speaker 1: making a toast, then someone else makes a toast. It's
- 37:12Speaker 1: never just one person. Yes, exactly, so like the Lee's
- 37:15Speaker 1: Eldon video. I'd like to to.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Lee Elton for destroying our access to clean air and
- 37:22Speaker 4: clean water.
- 37:24Speaker 1: What's next, just laying Max Well for the women's empowerments
- 37:28Speaker 1: on it. I'm from Long Island, that was my former representative.
- 37:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and it was so ironic. They the New York
- 37:35Speaker 4: Cancer Society, which, for the love they do great work. Yes,
- 37:39Speaker 4: they they're curing cancer. They have a person speaking at
- 37:43Speaker 4: their charity function that is going to be responsible forgiving
- 37:49Speaker 4: thousands of people cancer. Unequivocally, that is not the biggest opening.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Coal plants, you know, derailating, deregulating air restrictions, water restrictions.
- 38:01Speaker 4: I mean you can put you know, feces in water
- 38:03Speaker 4: now thanks to him, I mean just across the board.
- 38:06Speaker 4: And he is speaking at the New York Cancer Society
- 38:09Speaker 4: on ironical.
- 38:10Speaker 5: And ironically and I'm like, so, yeah, I was through cancer.
- 38:14Speaker 4: That was through Climate Defiance. We bought out a bunch
- 38:18Speaker 4: of those seats and planned it out. If anyone wants
- 38:21Speaker 4: to do what you see on that in that video,
- 38:24Speaker 4: just contact Climate Defiance. You can get in with them.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Wow.
- 38:28Speaker 5: So they're always looking quick.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Shout out to Climate Defiance if you want to get involved.
- 38:33Speaker 1: We were just talking before this segment about like what
- 38:35Speaker 1: people can actually do to get involved because you are
- 38:38Speaker 1: probably the all the way at this end of the
- 38:41Speaker 1: spectrum of involvement, and there's a lot of people who
- 38:44Speaker 1: are at the opposite end of the spectrum who are
- 38:46Speaker 1: not involved at all.
- 38:47Speaker 5: Getting involved makes it feels better.
- 38:50Speaker 1: It does, I will say as someone as people who
- 38:53Speaker 1: are involved, it feels great.
- 38:57Speaker 3: I think that the danger not really but for me,
- 39:01Speaker 3: like you get involved, but am I involved enough?
- 39:04Speaker 1: Right?
- 39:04Speaker 3: Like what's enough? What's enough for Walter? Is enough for Michael?
- 39:08Speaker 5: I go through that all the time, like could I
- 39:10Speaker 5: be doing more?
- 39:11Speaker 4: You've been doing more? And then to the to the
- 39:13Speaker 4: average person, it's it's a lot. But to my peer
- 39:17Speaker 4: group it's like, I mean, are we you know, what
- 39:20Speaker 4: more is there to do? And am I doing enough?
- 39:24Speaker 4: Am I making a difference? Or am I just shit
- 39:27Speaker 4: posting on the internet?
- 39:30Speaker 1: I go through that too, like especially as like immigration
- 39:33Speaker 1: law cases get overturned or people get deported. Cases I've
- 39:36Speaker 1: worked on for years, the person ends up getting deported
- 39:39Speaker 1: anyway I get. I go through the cycle of like
- 39:42Speaker 1: did I actually make a difference? At a Klein who
- 39:44Speaker 1: I worked with him for I think like a year.
- 39:48Speaker 1: It was the trial and after we won, he odeed
- 39:53Speaker 1: and died within a month. And I was like, did
- 39:57Speaker 1: I fucking do anything? Like did I actually like make
- 39:59Speaker 1: a difference here? And it's like it was just like
- 40:02Speaker 1: something that I had to go through as I was.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Trying to I think you did.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's tragedy obviously that he died that way,
- 40:10Speaker 3: but you did really good work for him that that
- 40:13Speaker 3: part of it is not on you.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I wasn't like, oh, this is on me. I
- 40:18Speaker 1: was like, this is for me. I came away from
- 40:21Speaker 1: it and I was like, I did this thing. I
- 40:23Speaker 1: was swinging hard for someone who no one ever swung
- 40:26Speaker 1: for him before, so that I came away for him
- 40:29Speaker 1: and I was like, Okay, we went down swinging. I
- 40:32Speaker 1: gave him what probably very few people I've given him
- 40:36Speaker 1: in his life, which is like a second chance or
- 40:39Speaker 1: third or whatever. I don't know. I still have like
- 40:43Speaker 1: complicated emotions around.
- 40:44Speaker 4: It, but like that hits me because I'm sober. I've
- 40:46Speaker 4: been sober for over a decade. While I don't congrats, Yeah,
- 40:51Speaker 4: and there's probably a good reason then. Yeah, I don't
- 40:53Speaker 4: do it. I don't drink or drug and I used to,
- 40:55Speaker 4: so you know, I'm reformed. Yeah, And that's part of
- 41:00Speaker 4: what radicalized me is So that.
- 41:02Speaker 3: I was going to ask you, so, you know, what
- 41:05Speaker 3: made you turn into this person, like who were you before?
- 41:08Speaker 4: Just seeing how the criminal justice system treated me versus
- 41:13Speaker 4: someone else. Seeing the documentary about the Central Park five
- 41:18Speaker 4: and great doctor, I lived not probably twenty maybe twenty
- 41:23Speaker 4: five blocks from the Central Park five people. I grew
- 41:27Speaker 4: up twenty five blocks away. That's not far. However, I
- 41:32Speaker 4: thought about the differences. I am white, come from a
- 41:35Speaker 4: middle class family. The cops treated me and I did
- 41:39Speaker 4: the same nasty stuff that they did. You know, you
- 41:45Speaker 4: accused them of being hooligans and doing this and that.
- 41:48Speaker 4: I looked at all that and said, this is nothing
- 41:51Speaker 4: compared to what my friends and I did and would
- 41:55Speaker 4: get arrested by the police.
- 41:57Speaker 5: You know, like we earned it.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Marriage through marriage to arrest so white merit, you know,
- 42:06Speaker 4: we got there through merriage, and this is like, you know,
- 42:09Speaker 4: this is as kids and this it was very inconsequential
- 42:13Speaker 4: type of trouble. Then I saw what they went through
- 42:16Speaker 4: versus myself, and that like flipped a switch.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I was going to say, was that your primary experience
- 42:21Speaker 1: with the criminal justice system, just as a lawyer who
- 42:24Speaker 1: does a lot of defense work. Like what was your
- 42:26Speaker 1: experience like was it mostly through policing or was it
- 42:29Speaker 1: the DA or was it with sentencing, Like what was
- 42:32Speaker 1: your sort of relationship to it as.
- 42:34Speaker 4: You I could just see, well, first off, my family
- 42:38Speaker 4: had means to support me.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's huge.
- 42:42Speaker 4: I saw the difference when I would hang out and
- 42:46Speaker 4: get in trouble with my friends that were not white.
- 42:50Speaker 4: They were They always went like, were like this around
- 42:52Speaker 4: the cops, like yes officer, yes, officer, and I would
- 42:55Speaker 4: always mouthed off. I remember walking through the park one
- 42:58Speaker 4: time and I was just being mouthy. Cops are there
- 43:03Speaker 4: like hey, parks closed, and my black friends are like yes, sorry, officer, sorry,
- 43:08Speaker 4: and I'm like it's okay, officer there with me. And
- 43:11Speaker 4: then I remember the cop car like just full speed
- 43:15Speaker 4: or throws everyone against the car and the cops like,
- 43:20Speaker 4: oh do you I'm sorry, I didn't hear you correctly. Meanwhile,
- 43:23Speaker 4: like my friends are getting cuffed and they're like, bro,
- 43:26Speaker 4: you've gotta dial that back, Like yeah, you know.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 3: It's really interesting though. So obviously I grew up as
- 43:34Speaker 3: a black woman, but I remember being in high school
- 43:38Speaker 3: with some white friends and we were going into the
- 43:41Speaker 3: Genevies and my friend decided to shoplift and I and
- 43:46Speaker 3: immediately I was like, I cannot be a part of
- 43:49Speaker 3: this at all.
- 43:50Speaker 1: What's your friend Wayne? Yes?
- 43:51Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, and you know how I know the first
- 43:54Speaker 3: and the last name, but I won't say.
- 43:55Speaker 1: It, but but Genevie's was already a deep cut to
- 43:58Speaker 1: the nineties Bring her back, loved You.
- 44:01Speaker 3: But I mean, but there was this feeling of like,
- 44:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna just leave because I can't be anywhere near
- 44:08Speaker 3: you because I know that they are You'll be the
- 44:11Speaker 3: one who they're watching me. They're watching me. You know,
- 44:14Speaker 3: there's this feeling and you're like, you know what I'm
- 44:15Speaker 3: gonna go. You go ahead and shoplift your right, So.
- 44:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, I left, No, no, no.
- 44:22Speaker 4: It's it's actually funny because I remember one time I
- 44:26Speaker 4: was accused of shoplifting when I was not.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Meanwhile, every other time you were, and I.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Was like, yeah, every other time, like the one time
- 44:35Speaker 4: that I was not doing crime, And I remember just
- 44:38Speaker 4: being furious, and I was like, if that happened to
- 44:42Speaker 4: me more than once, damn it like something I paid
- 44:46Speaker 4: for that. They were like, you did not pay for them.
- 44:48Speaker 4: I was like, excuse me.
- 44:49Speaker 5: They like ran up on me and everything. And I
- 44:51Speaker 5: was like, and I'm like, how dare you?
- 44:53Speaker 4: And I was like, I am imagine if this happened
- 44:56Speaker 4: to me more than once it's just a regular occurrence,
- 44:58Speaker 4: I would because I was like I was a ten
- 45:02Speaker 4: at that moment.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Right, the way that we sort of relate to crime,
- 45:07Speaker 1: I just think it's just like so interesting to me
- 45:09Speaker 1: as someone who just like studies it, and then I
- 45:11Speaker 1: have to be in like the world around it. What
- 45:13Speaker 1: gets policed and what doesn't get policed? Right, We're constantly
- 45:16Speaker 1: talking about that on this show, and what I get
- 45:18Speaker 1: away with as a white man and a sue walking
- 45:20Speaker 1: past a security guard that other people don't. As you're
- 45:24Speaker 1: sort of approaching this, I mean, you're creating these videos,
- 45:27Speaker 1: you touched on it a little bit, What is the
- 45:30Speaker 1: positive outcome that you have seen? Like, I think it's
- 45:33Speaker 1: important for people to see. We're trying to give like
- 45:35Speaker 1: hopeful messages on the show any opportunity we can where
- 45:40Speaker 1: you do this what I find to be hilarious work.
- 45:42Speaker 1: You're a stand up comic, like you've got an improv background.
- 45:46Speaker 1: You go into these situations, you create these videos that
- 45:48Speaker 1: are just very entertaining to watch. What has there been
- 45:52Speaker 1: like a changed mind or a shift that you've witnessed,
- 45:55Speaker 1: or something that you have seen from doing this work
- 45:59Speaker 1: that you you've come away with us as being like
- 46:02Speaker 1: a positive experience for you. Yeah.
- 46:05Speaker 4: I think it's more like people are brought into the
- 46:09Speaker 4: fold and they I try to do something very sensational.
- 46:16Speaker 4: It's very sensational. It makes funny, Yeah, I try to
- 46:19Speaker 4: be funny. It's something and it's and it's something that
- 46:23Speaker 4: there are people that contact me saying that they've gotten
- 46:25Speaker 4: more involved because I this, you know, sort of made
- 46:29Speaker 4: it humorous. Yes, made it and they weren't really paying
- 46:33Speaker 4: attention prior, and then so that was that was the
- 46:36Speaker 4: hope of I mean, most people aren't really paying attention,
- 46:39Speaker 4: or most people are sort of overloaded, and there's I
- 46:42Speaker 4: always look for like what's the new medium to sort
- 46:45Speaker 4: of deliver this information. And so it's like, all right,
- 46:50Speaker 4: I could say that David Rubinstein is a climate criminal,
- 46:54Speaker 4: or I could say it at a charity benefit where
- 46:58Speaker 4: he's the main guest of honor, and I say it
- 47:00Speaker 4: to a room of three to four hundred people amidst
- 47:05Speaker 4: dead silence, right, and then and I film it and
- 47:09Speaker 4: then people are like, oh, David Rubinstein, climate criminal, private equity,
- 47:14Speaker 4: public anime, got it right. And then it's versus me
- 47:19Speaker 4: just saying that's a camera, right. Other people are very
- 47:22Speaker 4: eloquent with that and can make an impact. I tried
- 47:26Speaker 4: to you better in that in that.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Regard, right, I mean it's I think we're Michael and
- 47:31Speaker 3: I were talking about this before. It's like, you have
- 47:33Speaker 3: this certain skill set, right, this is what you're really
- 47:36Speaker 3: good at, and this is something that you are passionate about.
- 47:39Speaker 2: You worry about it.
- 47:40Speaker 3: So you're taking your skill set, you're taking your talent,
- 47:42Speaker 3: and you're making it so that now other people are
- 47:45Speaker 3: become aware of it, right, and they'll figure out what
- 47:48Speaker 3: they can do. But this is what you do.
- 47:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:51Speaker 4: Yeah, So I'd had someone that came up to me
- 47:54Speaker 4: and told me that they were radicalized by my video
- 47:58Speaker 4: where my friends and I I disrupted and shut down
- 48:02Speaker 4: Andrew Cuomo's press event.
- 48:04Speaker 1: It felt good for you that I saw I saw
- 48:07Speaker 1: that video. I love that.
- 48:08Speaker 4: I'm such a Cuomo water so please Oh yeah, no,
- 48:10Speaker 4: that was that was lovely. It was just we showed up,
- 48:13Speaker 4: we outnumbered him. We outnumbered his staff, We outnumbered his supporters,
- 48:18Speaker 4: we outnumbered the press.
- 48:19Speaker 1: That it was a really small event. It was like this,
- 48:22Speaker 1: like in New York. If you're not if you're watching this,
- 48:24Speaker 1: then you're not. In New York, they do these little
- 48:26Speaker 1: like pop up, Oh, I'm out of school. I think
- 48:28Speaker 1: it was at a library or something.
- 48:29Speaker 5: In front of a school.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Yes, and I showed up with a print out from
- 48:33Speaker 4: the Board of Education saying that he did not have
- 48:36Speaker 4: consent to use this school the school to.
- 48:40Speaker 1: The camp ahead.
- 48:40Speaker 4: Then this is the email from the Department of Education
- 48:47Speaker 4: saying they don't have a mission.
- 48:50Speaker 1: To be in front of the school or inside the school.
- 48:55Speaker 4: And they grabbed his campaign grabbed me first. And then
- 48:59Speaker 4: meanwhile there's six seven, eight people already in front of
- 49:03Speaker 4: him that they didn't recognize that.
- 49:05Speaker 1: They were like, I remember that, you really outnumbered like
- 49:12Speaker 1: his staffers.
- 49:13Speaker 4: And it was live on Fox Now. So for just
- 49:17Speaker 4: ten minutes, he was just getting dogged mercilessly. The thing
- 49:21Speaker 4: that he came there to talk about didn't get addressed
- 49:25Speaker 4: at all, and I was not at all. That's great,
- 49:27Speaker 4: that's a way he was there to He was there
- 49:30Speaker 4: to talk about defunding public education. That didn't get talked about.
- 49:35Speaker 4: I was happy. I'm like, great, but you talked to
- 49:38Speaker 4: the winner of that race. You talked to mom TONI recently.
- 49:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I talked to him. Yeah.
- 49:43Speaker 4: It was It's funny I got to interview him right
- 49:46Speaker 4: before he became a phenomenon. It was it was really
- 49:49Speaker 4: kind of this kind of inside baseball where I'm like,
- 49:52Speaker 4: I interviewed him. I posted the video and didn't go anywhere.
- 49:55Speaker 4: People were like, yeah, whatever, bro like.
- 49:57Speaker 1: But then then it comes back later. There's always that
- 50:00Speaker 1: like resuscitation on the internet.
- 50:02Speaker 4: Then he became becomes a phenomenon a month later, and
- 50:06Speaker 4: I was like, oh cool, I got I got that
- 50:09Speaker 4: of this.
- 50:09Speaker 5: I felt good. I was like, okay, you know what,
- 50:11Speaker 5: I'm not just riding the way I was.
- 50:14Speaker 1: There before the d L.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Yeah that was That was nice, and that is it is.
- 50:22Speaker 4: It has been refreshing to speak to him to where
- 50:24Speaker 4: he's actually He gives clear, concise answers.
- 50:28Speaker 5: To address what you ask.
- 50:31Speaker 4: He's not afraid of his own ideas, whereas I feel
- 50:34Speaker 4: like most the Democratic Party at large is terrified of
- 50:39Speaker 4: their own ideas.
- 50:41Speaker 5: Like think about it. They healthcare of housing as a
- 50:46Speaker 5: human right, water is a human right.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Environment and you know, education, education, all this stuff, and
- 50:54Speaker 4: they are terrified of their own platform.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Actually implementing that platform. Right. We see Governor Hokel all
- 51:01Speaker 1: the time just sort of, oh, I'm going to do
- 51:02Speaker 1: this big bold thing and then dials it back a
- 51:07Speaker 1: couple of weeks.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Ago, yeah, and then just says something very milk toast.
- 51:13Speaker 4: And then meanwhile you get Trump and his crew coming
- 51:17Speaker 4: in saying we should deport every Somali, not Somali immigrants,
- 51:22Speaker 4: just smalog just and there's.
- 51:26Speaker 5: There is a level to it. You're like, you know what,
- 51:29Speaker 5: nothing matters anymore. We're going to call you it, just
- 51:31Speaker 5: just say what you but you believe they're going to
- 51:33Speaker 5: call your communists.
- 51:34Speaker 4: They're going to accuse you of trying to make everyone
- 51:37Speaker 4: trans and you know you're Soorrows backed and they're going
- 51:40Speaker 4: to say this anyway. Uh, you know, you know, you're
- 51:44Speaker 4: you're all you're automatically and Israel hating Palestinian loving communists
- 51:51Speaker 4: that wants to open our borders and you know, just
- 51:54Speaker 4: just lean into it.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Do you see like a ripple effect of that, the
- 51:59Speaker 1: fact that he did not back down from his platform
- 52:03Speaker 1: and full chested was like you know what, These are
- 52:06Speaker 1: the three things I'm going to do no matter what
- 52:08Speaker 1: anyone says. And he stuck with that, and he's still
- 52:10Speaker 1: sticking with it.
- 52:11Speaker 5: I think and think about this, So think about if
- 52:16Speaker 5: he had lost, Right, if he had lost, what would
- 52:21Speaker 5: be happening right now? Forget the fact that yes, Cuomo
- 52:25Speaker 5: would be the mayor. If he had lost, the entire
- 52:29Speaker 5: Democratic Party would take a harder right turn.
- 52:36Speaker 6: And it would be a aggressive ideal. Yes, it would
- 52:39Speaker 6: be a mandate. It would basically the mandate would be
- 52:43Speaker 6: progressive pism loses elections, you will, You'll even lose in
- 52:48Speaker 6: New York.
- 52:48Speaker 1: But if he did lose, it would mean right that
- 52:52Speaker 1: any progressive ideal is a campaign killer, that we have
- 52:56Speaker 1: to stay centrist, that we have to in their narrative
- 52:59Speaker 1: party line, Yes exactly, because oh look, well it didn't
- 53:02Speaker 1: work with Therefore.
- 53:04Speaker 4: They run to go further and they run these very
- 53:07Speaker 4: establishment campaigns, very uninspiring campaigns. Everyone else has to do
- 53:13Speaker 4: the work of spreading the message because they're just terrible
- 53:16Speaker 4: at this. And then when they lose the number one
- 53:20Speaker 4: talking point as well, they were too progressive, and they're
- 53:23Speaker 4: saying this about people that are It's like hurts my
- 53:28Speaker 4: brain to call Biden a communists, to hold the communists,
- 53:33Speaker 4: And I'm like, I'm like, you know.
- 53:34Speaker 3: What was a prosecutor right, the sort of establishment Joe
- 53:38Speaker 3: Biden who's like been part of.
- 53:39Speaker 4: The government's famous Marxist Yeah, you know, yeah, famous Marxists,
- 53:45Speaker 4: Joe Biden, stuff like that, And so that is that
- 53:49Speaker 4: to me is in the past year. I mean I
- 53:51Speaker 4: used to be like, yes, oh, we hate Maggot, we
- 53:53Speaker 4: hate Trump. In the past year, I'm like, you know what,
- 53:56Speaker 4: I can open that tent to the Democratic Party, you know,
- 53:59Speaker 4: my truly, you know I can. I can fit the
- 54:03Speaker 4: Democratic Party in that tent. Too big tent.
- 54:06Speaker 2: It's a big tent, and they're so big tech. We're disappointing.
- 54:10Speaker 3: They're so disappointing. It's it's actually, it's like kind of sickening.
- 54:14Speaker 3: It's like you you.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Guys aren't standing for.
- 54:18Speaker 4: Agg And just for the record, it's the off season.
- 54:21Speaker 4: I mean, if there was an election two weeks from now,
- 54:24Speaker 4: I would be saying, hey, my god, have you seen
- 54:27Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom's new meme? He just released a new meme. God,
- 54:31Speaker 4: it's a new meme. Nancy Pelosi, Oh man, that's Queen Hillary.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Hillary is back on the scene. Oh my god. Yeah, bus,
- 54:46Speaker 1: Now that we are in the.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Now, yeah, when the elections two weeks from now, you'll
- 54:54Speaker 4: be like, oh my god, yes, we'll have you.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Back on right before the Oh my god, we love
- 54:59Speaker 1: the Democrat establishment. Chuck Schumer, get any your honey, Jeffries,
- 55:07Speaker 1: Oh my god, Jeffries.
- 55:08Speaker 4: You see that picture with him, He's holding a baseball
- 55:11Speaker 4: bat baseball is holding the batiful.
- 55:16Speaker 5: It was just oh my god.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, So was there anything in the news cycle
- 55:21Speaker 1: where we're sort of trying to cover a little bit
- 55:23Speaker 1: more of like the the news cycle as we come
- 55:25Speaker 1: into the studio. We were talking.
- 55:27Speaker 5: About Puffy before the documentary.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Documentary this weekend. Oh man, okay, so.
- 55:34Speaker 4: Just some random t this is unverified and stuff like that.
- 55:40Speaker 4: But it's like my own personal experience is if you're
- 55:43Speaker 4: part of the club scene in the aughts, country club
- 55:47Speaker 4: or the teens, the nightclub scene in New York City
- 55:53Speaker 4: during that time, anyone that I would meet would talk
- 55:58Speaker 4: about how did he loved to get filated by men?
- 56:05Speaker 4: And it was a power thing. Anyone would explain that
- 56:08Speaker 4: to you, and it was such a pervasive thing that
- 56:12Speaker 4: I ignored it. I hate these like black rumors of like
- 56:16Speaker 4: black men. They're all d l right, and it was
- 56:18Speaker 4: something like a stop it like right, because it would
- 56:21Speaker 4: always come with other stuff. However, everyone that like went
- 56:25Speaker 4: out regularly to clubs had some connection with Diddy.
- 56:29Speaker 5: They all repeated this. They were like, oh.
- 56:31Speaker 4: Yeah no, and they all would were very clear that
- 56:33Speaker 4: it wasn't about uh sexuality, It was about power. It
- 56:38Speaker 4: was power based, and we liked big men to like
- 56:42Speaker 4: get on their knees and submit to him.
- 56:44Speaker 5: That was a very you know, it was like it
- 56:47Speaker 5: was like almost like an open secret.
- 56:49Speaker 1: It was yeah, well, I mean like the Cosby rumors
- 56:52Speaker 1: were around for forever, actual core.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Cases, open secret stuff like that.
- 57:00Speaker 1: But the documentary is out now, Yeah, and fifty cent
- 57:05Speaker 1: is out on the media circuit.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he's on that junket and the.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Rector doing interviews on ABC.
- 57:12Speaker 5: We don't like, this is a guy is not he's maga.
- 57:16Speaker 4: He probably has really awful opinions about the Me Too
- 57:19Speaker 4: movement and he's doing a documentary talking about his nemesis. Yeah,
- 57:25Speaker 4: but like interering people that came forward with essay allegations
- 57:30Speaker 4: and how we should believe them and I guarantee you
- 57:33Speaker 4: if did he wasn't his nemesis, he wouldn't be believing
- 57:37Speaker 4: any of these people.
- 57:38Speaker 5: So let's just get that. Let's just get that out
- 57:40Speaker 5: of the way.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Yeah, this is this is not somebody who's doing this
- 57:43Speaker 3: for the greater good to put the information out there.
- 57:45Speaker 3: It's because he hates him, and he's just like, you
- 57:48Speaker 3: know what, I'm going to take the step that we
- 57:50Speaker 3: already know and I'm going to fan the flame of
- 57:52Speaker 3: this right and also like.
- 57:54Speaker 2: His career isn't like what do we have heard about
- 57:56Speaker 2: the radio?
- 57:57Speaker 1: But what do we what do we think about this though?
- 57:59Speaker 1: Because there's this is like an ethical conundrum, right because
- 58:01Speaker 1: ultimately these essays survivors are getting facetimed, their stories are
- 58:06Speaker 1: being told. It's being told by a hater. He's playing
- 58:09Speaker 1: it on ABC, so that did he can watch it
- 58:10Speaker 1: in prison because ABC plays on prison televisions. Like there
- 58:15Speaker 1: is that piece right of Like fifty cent is a
- 58:19Speaker 1: hater and a MAGA supporter and doing this for all
- 58:23Speaker 1: the wrong reasons, but the outcome is actually supporting Zanes right,
- 58:29Speaker 1: Like I'm yeah, I'm like I'll take the win where
- 58:33Speaker 1: I can get it. I guess you know, if we're
- 58:35Speaker 1: just like, when are we gonna it's never gonna be perfect, right.
- 58:38Speaker 3: If we're waiting for the perfect methode right there, there
- 58:43Speaker 3: is no personal messages, and this is information that's it's
- 58:48Speaker 3: important and people are interested in if it's coming from CDJ.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Just throw up a photo of fifty cent, just his
- 58:58Speaker 1: wide smile, and the ABC interview is because he's absolutely
- 59:01Speaker 1: delighted to talk on camera where he knows almost.
- 59:06Speaker 3: But it's almost what's the word, like it's so unseemly
- 59:09Speaker 3: His joy at this is like unseemly, right, Like, ye,
- 59:13Speaker 3: we all know that they hated each other, right, So
- 59:16Speaker 3: this is not somebody who's just like I just thought
- 59:17Speaker 3: it was really.
- 59:18Speaker 5: Important that everybody knows.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Oh, this is just like I hate this motherfucker and
- 59:22Speaker 3: and that's because that's what it is. It's like I
- 59:26Speaker 3: I hate him, and I want him to know that
- 59:29Speaker 3: I hate him, and I want everybody else to know.
- 59:31Speaker 2: This is how much I hate you. I hate you
- 59:33Speaker 2: so much that I am willing to invest my own
- 59:36Speaker 2: time and resources into this documentary that is going to
- 59:40Speaker 2: sort of further chop you up into bits. But the
- 59:43Speaker 2: flip side about it is he deserves it right, So
- 59:45Speaker 2: it's like this weird place.
- 59:47Speaker 4: And it's and it's a shame because prior to these
- 59:51Speaker 4: essay allegations, this is gonna sound very weird. Just I
- 59:56Speaker 4: am not condoning his essay allegations. I don't like Diddy, okay,
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: And this is a very left handed compliment to him.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Let's just say left handed compliment is that he was
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: an inspirational figure because he was an incredibly mediocre person
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: that was hugely successful. I mean, not the best music producer, No,
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: not the best rapper, new horrendous actor, horrendous. However, this
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: is a man who had multiple hit records, owned his
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: own label, terrible clothing designer, owned his own successful clothing line,
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: and he was the lead on.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: A Broadway show.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: God.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: I looked at that and I thought, I mean, you
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: could be anything. This is a mediocre human being.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Let that inspire you that you could do that. Reba
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: McIntyre can have a lip glass line with no upper
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: lip like you. Let these things stop you from succeeding from.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: Mac famous for not essaying Anyoneba, this one goes out
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: to you.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: Yeah, just you can have all the lip here's your
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: last chance.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Fancy, don't let.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Yeah, like, oh my god, but yeah, incredibly mediocre driven
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: human being that just.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Reached don't let mediocrity stand in your dream.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: Yeah, just I think that's what we should should show
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: that the.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Cake, No, it's stitched onto it like a cross stitch
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: on the pillow at my therapist off.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Like listen, don't listen. You can you know, go for
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: your dreams. Kids. I mean, if this mediocre may.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: It can also be countless and you too could become
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: presidents of.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: All sorts of conspiracy.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: And just for the record, Diddy helped Elon Musk by Twitter,
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: So I feel like people.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Famously good for society.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: Yeah, so Owning if you're thinking, I mean, what good
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: did did he do? I mean he helped Elon Musk
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: President Musk by Twitter, and it was just so I mean,
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: let's not let's you know. I think we need to
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: all remember just good friends with Trump, good friends with Elon,
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: friends with the worst people we had.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: I just remember that first day of Twitter when just
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: every slur was back, Oh yeah, all over Twitter. Do
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: you have a favorite conspiracy theory?
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Is?
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Is there like a conspiracy theory that you're like this one?
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: There?
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I think I think Luigi didn't do it. That's my conspiracy.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I don't mean that's not him at McDonald's.
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: I mean, we don't even know what happened that day, really,
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: and if.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: You look at the photos, I'm like, this is not
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: the same person. Like what do we even care?
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, I mean, I just yeah.
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: My My favorite conspiracy is the bullet diary that Cash
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: Patel f Cash Betel's FBI leaves behind every active murder scene.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: I mean, we all remember, I've heard about that episode
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: of Law and Order where they go to an active
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: crime scene and they tweet out all of the evidence
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: confirmed and unconfirmed on I don't remember, And there's bullets
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: with just bullet diaries everywhere. I did it, Nancy Pelosi,
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: we love her, Chuck Schumer king king right on the bullet,
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: right on the bullet and then with a text message
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: to thanks to Cash Patel's FBI.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Tweeted that out.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and they just yeah, it goes, it goes out immediately.
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: Forget waiting for detectives to corroborate, violate, or even to
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: fiolate and log it into evidence.
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: I mean, and who needs that?
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Are you a Law and Order fan? There's a show
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: on this network that does recaps of that was.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: Actually fun fact. I was actually online Order SVU.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Were you a victim? Were you the perpetrator? Were you
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: a witness?
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: I was on the show.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Please be clear, I'm not in real life on the
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: show on s Yes.
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: Not I r L. It's one of these things.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: It's one of those things where they happened upon someone
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: who's doing something questionable, but this is not the actual criminal.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: So the cops just sort of go, like, you know what,
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: whatever you're doing this is, but you know what, like
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: we have an essay crime to solve here, but you're
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: an asshole.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: You know one of those scenes Season ten, episode one,
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: it was with.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: That paycheck hit hard. I love it.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: Oh this is back those back before streaming was pervasive.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Are you still getting check?
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: I got royalty checks, tons of them. When there's more syndication,
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: because people would say, oh, I saw you on Loan Order,
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: and I'd.
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: Go what channel, what network? And they go NBC and I.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Go, oh yeah, give me that.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: I'm getting old days pay again verse. Then they'd say
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: oh I saw on Netflix and I go, good away from.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Why did you even watch it? Come stream it on YouTube?
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: I knew I would get like something like maybe like
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: you know, a few several hundred dollars. If it was
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: a USA T and T well in Marathon versus Netflix Netflix,
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: I'd be like, Oh god, damn.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: It is there something you want to plug on the show.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: Come join me on my stand up tour. I'm going
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: through d C, Boston, Phoenix, Colorado, San Francisco, San Diego,
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: and yeah, join me see me.
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: I r L I'm really funny.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Oh you are hystor I'm really funny.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I make people laugh. Funny people famously have to beg
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: you to believe they're funny.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's you know, the same comedy is that you
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: have is good comedy is when you have to explain
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: the joke right afterwards.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: It's beautiful because.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: It went over everyone's head.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lawsuit we covered in law school, just
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: real quick shout out uh, where there was a joke
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: about a contract where you like got a plane if
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: you got enough PepsiCo tickets. It's like a famous lawsuit
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: and the judge and the clerk had to explain the
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: joke of the commercial. It just ruined the whole thing.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Oh god, it was. It was great anyway, Oh my god, wait,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I want to know that. I'll send you. I'll send
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: it to you.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Yeah, Walter, you have a website, right, yes, yeah, so
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: we'll plug it where you ticket, you'll signed, where you
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: can get tickets and everything on your website.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: But you were in Chicago and Portland are just going.
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Crazy a comedy tour before Trump decided to send National
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: Guard into all of these cities and ice, And so
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: I went to Chicago, Portland. Yeah, I went to Philly
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: and then also Seattle. And while I was there, I
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: went to the ICE facilities and spoke to activists and basically,
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Chicago I think has it the worst because it's not
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: targeted in I mean, listen, the white supremacist playbook is
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: to put it in certain areas and disperse it in
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: certain areas so that the neoliberals can go like what
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: what like we're not So it's not like that in Chicago.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: It's everywhere all the time, and it is just a
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: hellhole with regards to that, because parents do not feel
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: safe letting their children walk alone to school if they're black,
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: if they're even if they're walking next to someone that
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: is not white. It's like Hey, you know what, You're
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: going to be stopped, you might be kidnapped, you'll be
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: swept up with someone else. So they don't let children
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: walk to school. There's tons of organizations that walk children
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: to school and stand there during pick up. Portland's very
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: similar to We're going.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: To list those organizations so that you can support them. Yeah.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Like there's very small Mutual Aid, Pilsen, Community Defense,
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: and great ones that just are very they're only known
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: in the community. Portland is insane as well. Yeah, and
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: they are like that ICE facility has snipers standing on
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: the roof at night, purely for intimidation. No one is
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: trying to break into this facility. They are nasty and
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: they just behave like they're completely above the law. And
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: I'm saying this. You know, any Democrat that wants to
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: run for office says that they're going to reform ICE
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: under this, I'm like, no, this is an agency that
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: needs to be completely eradicated, right, you cannot reform these people.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: These people are joined to behave.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Like yeah, and it thugs and it does seem to me,
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: like you know, when you're sort of like getting a
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: picture of the kind of person who's like all right,
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: this is what I'm going this is my calling, right,
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: I'm going to be a part of ICE. It's when
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: I think about it, it is the person that you
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: went to high school or elementary school who was like
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: the bully, who like never really amounted to anything.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: And it's like, and this is their.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Opportunity to shine, right because they're they're not really good
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: at anything. So I'm gonna do this and it gives
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: me an opportunity to be a bully. I'm a professional bully.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I'm getting paid for it. And it's like it sort
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: of amps themselves up when they were like probably like that, yeah,
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: and it's probably they were probably living in their mother's
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: basement and not doing anything.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: And now they're like important, you know what I mean.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, they're getting a signing bone, they're getting a full salary.
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: None of that signing bonus is going towards child support
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: payments at.
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: All, right, and just you know, confirmed, fact check it confirmed.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: I mean, come on, you know put that you know,
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: signing bonus towards child.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: Support payments ye live twenty nine, Yeah, come on.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: But that was that was the case when I had
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: visited ICE facilities and spoken to people on the ground
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: in the communities there, I mean, Chicago, Portland I think
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: are the absolute worst. Yeah, in terms of and on
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: top of that, you have tons of MAGA grifters showing
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: up to those facilities.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Yeah. I saw you talking to some of them.
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: I saw make content and be like, look at you know.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: This, look at how great this is.
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: Yeah, and they show up with don't tread on me hats.
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: So the only people with it don't tread on me
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: flags are counter protesting.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: You haven't gat since I saw it.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: They don't tread on me should be on the other side,
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: you're counter protesting with a Gadston flag. There's one video
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: I'm speaking to a guy. I'm like, you're wearing a
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Gadsden flag hat. They just you cannot This is there's
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: literally states rights, states rights, states rights. Don't tread on me,
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: you know, let the states decide. This is the opposite
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: of letting the states exactly. This is the you don't
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: know what that means. You're just like the snake chopped
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: up image. You don't know what that actually means, or.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: Don't know what it means. They don't know what it means.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: And I mean, and I wonder do they do they
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: even realize how stupid they are?
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: I or I honestly think that it's more of like,
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: we voted for this, this is exactly what we want,
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: and they're made interested in debating or being consistent. They're
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: in a position right now where they can say, listen,
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: this is what I want. I don't care, and I'm
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: not trying to, you know, play into some consistency with
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: you about this. This is exactly what I want. I
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: don't care that I have rights and they don't. I
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: want the fifth and fourteenth Amendment to apply to myself, yep,
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: and only.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's such there's so many blind spots with that, right,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Like they voted for all of this, But did you
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: vote for higher cost for groceries? Like did you vote
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: for gas prices to go up? Like? Did you vote
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: for tariffs to increase everything? For cost of living is
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: going did you vote for the lowest job numbers in
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: almost a decade?
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: Well, but listen, you're losing sight of the big picture here,
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: which is okay, you can now say gay retard at work? Yeah, right,
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: there are two trans players is all over. Yeah, there's
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: two trans volleyball players nationwide that won't get to play
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: volleyball this year, and that's it's worse than the decimation
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: of the lands.
