- 0:22Coop and let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29Last night I was able to have one of my clients come on a Zoom
- 0:34call, teaching my other clients that showed up for the Zoom call
- 0:38all about LinkedIn and how LinkedIn helps us connect.
- 0:44Now, I'm going to be completely honest with you about this.
- 0:46I have a LinkedIn profile and it's, you know, OK.
- 0:51I mean, I, it's, it's done as well as I ever knew to do it.
- 0:54But I learned so much in the last two months about this.
- 0:59Because she did a call a month ago where we got on and we
- 1:02talked about how important it was to have a great photo on
- 1:04there in your circle picture. And then how to have a banner
- 1:08photo and how some people immediately went and, and took
- 1:12off and did it. Like you put their effort in and
- 1:15changed up stuff and made it look a certain way.
- 1:18And the reasons why you want to do this, you know, you always
- 1:20want to have a good headshot. You don't want to be the person
- 1:22that has a headshot from when you were 20 years old and then,
- 1:25you know, you get out of the car and you're 50 years old and
- 1:28you've never updated your photos.
- 1:30It's just not good. Not a good luck.
- 1:32But anyway, last night in the middle of this, she was going
- 1:36over, you know, seeing if people had done what they were, you
- 1:40know, that changed their photos, their banner, talking about the
- 1:43description, little tricks because this was all about, you
- 1:46know, using LinkedIn in a way where you didn't have to pay the
- 1:50higher fee for it. And the whole time I was
- 1:53listening and interacting and, you know, hosting the this Zoom
- 1:58call, I kept thinking to myself, isn't it interesting that we are
- 2:02provided a free tool like LinkedIn or Facebook or
- 2:08Instagram And we YouTube, I mean, YouTube is completely free
- 2:14to us on when we want to go upload videos and whatnot.
- 2:18And the, the amount of that, that we take it for granted
- 2:22because I know as I'm getting ready to launch a YouTube
- 2:25channel that this is, I was definitely taking it for granted
- 2:29what it could do and how it could do it.
- 2:31And then listening to her talk about how this is a connection
- 2:35platform, I was stunned because I've never thought of LinkedIn
- 2:39as a connection platform like that, other than it's a place
- 2:42where I've got my quote UN quote online resume.
- 2:45People can go look at it and if they need something, they can
- 2:48reach out. But what ends up happening is
- 2:51it's it's so much more complex than that.
- 2:54It's not as simple as one might think.
- 2:56So she's running through the process, talking to us about it.
- 3:00I'm listening, taking notes, I'm looking at my own profile going
- 3:04wow, I really need to work on this.
- 3:06And it's making me think about all these other things that we
- 3:09have that are given to us in, you know, this free format and
- 3:14are we utilizing them at the best level we can?
- 3:17So I wanted to bring this to everybody here because I know if
- 3:21you're on here, you're definitely in a growth mindset
- 3:24and you probably have things that you're trying to grow other
- 3:27than just yourself, your business, your hobbies,
- 3:30whatever. And are you putting your best
- 3:33foot forward and putting it out there?
- 3:35And as I started to consider like, okay, I know I, I'm very
- 3:40good about things on Facebook, although the last few months I
- 3:43have not been posting as much as I normally do just because I
- 3:47have been, it's spring is like my time and I'm extremely busy
- 3:52and extremely focused with the gardens and everything else.
- 3:54And getting ready to launch a YouTube channel is challenging
- 3:58because I, I'm, I'm like learning as I'm going, building
- 4:03the plane while I'm flying it. So think about, stop and pause
- 4:08and think about, are you utilizing all the tools you have
- 4:10available to you that are free? Like, are you using them?
- 4:14The answer I can guarantee for 99% of us is going to be no,
- 4:18you're not utilizing them, at least to the best of the ability
- 4:21that they can be utilized before you have to pay for something.
- 4:25And as far as LinkedIn goes, I think that it's probably one of
- 4:28the most overlooked ones because if you want to have a very
- 4:32specific type of client and you want to be able to connect with
- 4:37that client, the first thing you have to do is start looking at
- 4:40what that person is putting out there and following them, seeing
- 4:45what they're, they're talking about.
- 4:47I mean, it was not something that I ever thought about doing.
- 4:50And last night it was brought up, oh, if you're interested in
- 4:53connecting with somebody, well, just follow and see what they
- 4:56post on and then comment on their posts.
- 4:59It's that simple. And as soon as you start doing
- 5:01that, because LinkedIn isn't inundated with 10s of thousands
- 5:05of comments on things, you actually have an easier way to
- 5:09get in to be noticed with somebody rather than just DM ING
- 5:13them a direct request and it being too soon in the
- 5:16relationship. Like that's nothing worse than
- 5:18doing that. So some food for thought today.
- 5:21Look at your free platforms, especially Lincoln LinkedIn.
- 5:25See what you're doing that you could be doing better.
- 5:28Make some changes and really start to connect with people by
- 5:31following them first and seeing what they're up to and
- 5:35commenting, liking their posts being what you know, what
- 5:39they're putting out there so that they feel that there's a
- 5:41connection before there's an ask from us.
- 5:44All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day.
- 5:47And I want to thank my client Mary, who came on and just gave,
- 5:52poured her heart out for my other clients.
- 5:54I really appreciated that. All right, I'll see you all
- 5:57tomorrow. I hope you have a blessed day.
- 5:58Bye.
