- 0:02Hello everyone, welcome back to this little Saturday morning edition of EyeOpener
- 0:06Society This is my solo episode My name is Gary Dean and this is EyeOpener Society
- 0:13I want to welcome everybody back and thank you so much for joining me,
- 0:17I wanted to give you some insights and some vision,
- 0:22You know, it happens to all of us, I get it Sometimes we fall into the trap
- 0:29where we become greedy, we become angry, we become hateful.
- 0:34And these things happen not always because we want to.
- 0:40See, we're living in a society where we get trapped.
- 0:46Take, for example, when you leave your house and you get in that car.
- 0:50I tell you, as soon as you get in the road, depending where you are,
- 0:54where you live, traffic becomes overwhelming.
- 0:58People start to lose their common sense. People start to lose their common courtesy,
- 1:04start cutting everybody off and everybody gets angry.
- 1:07We're all trapped inside of this cage on four wheels. It's just moving at speeds in excess.
- 1:14And we sometimes fall victim to that. And sometimes we actually become that person ourselves.
- 1:22And during that time, we start to create havoc, we start to create tension,
- 1:27we start to create anxiety, hatred,
- 1:30anger, and we want to lash out to the person in the car next to us.
- 1:34We don't know that person at all, but yet we want to lash out at them.
- 1:41We can get in lines at grocery stores and you got that one person who's still writing checks.
- 1:47And it's taken forever as they're filling it all out and they got to go through
- 1:51the whole process and the verifying and everything else.
- 1:54When everybody else behind them is just using cards and swiping real quick,
- 1:58we become overly anxious.
- 2:01We want to be the next person. We want to get our stuff out of there. We want to go home.
- 2:07So does that other person that's writing the check. Sometimes that's their only
- 2:12way to pay And we need to sometimes realize that and understand that.
- 2:19We tend as human beings to take all of these little things in And we take it
- 2:25personally That's where the problem is,
- 2:30That personal attack on you Even though it was not exactly done to you Sometimes it is. I get that.
- 2:41But in all honesty, most of these things that we are picking up that's around
- 2:47us, it's part of our environment.
- 2:48We're taking as personal attacks on us.
- 2:52So what do we do to become better human beings? What do we do to elevate ourselves above that?
- 2:59Sometimes it is nothing more Than just stepping back And taking a look at the
- 3:05whole situation Letting loose off
- 3:08the accelerator Sliding back away Let everything happen in front of you,
- 3:14And don't worry about it,
- 3:17Very simple, right? I oversimplify everything, but it works.
- 3:23Just step back. Take a moment. That person that's writing that check in the
- 3:28line in front of you, more than likely you're on a line, there's magazines.
- 3:31Grab a magazine, start reading it.
- 3:34Take your mind away from the situation and put yourself in a little bit of a
- 3:40different place at the moment.
- 3:42And you're going to realize how quick it goes by.
- 3:47And of all these things, and all the problems that we have, the corporations,
- 3:53the governments, and the rules,
- 3:55and the regulations, these things are taking tolls on us too as well.
- 4:01We don't want to be told. Most of us are all adults. Some of us are grown well beyond our age.
- 4:09We don't need somebody telling us what to do.
- 4:13Some things are set up for design For safety, for your own safety For your own
- 4:17well-being Don't stand too close to the ledge and whatnot,
- 4:22But then there's tons of rules out there That's always in favor of the bigger
- 4:26corporations The person with more money And they're always aiming directly at you,
- 4:34I would give up everything The roof over my head Just to walk out into the woods
- 4:42Set up a little tent And stay there.
- 4:48Total separation from society Now that's extreme But it's not impossible,
- 4:56We need to figure out The things that are actually bothering us Every time something
- 5:01takes hold of you And it drives you into anger Write down what that problem
- 5:05is And then compile a list,
- 5:08I don't care how long the list is Sometimes it can be pretty damn long I get
- 5:13it That's what's going to happen But,
- 5:17Then when you're in a state of calm, and I would suggest right after meditation,
- 5:22if you're meditating, which you should be because that helps with everything,
- 5:28grab hold of that list and start reading those things off one at a time.
- 5:33Find out which ones are reasonably making you angry, and then cross off the
- 5:40ones that are completely ridiculous.
- 5:42You were just having a bad day. This bothered you. That person bothered you.
- 5:48Shorten down that list.
- 5:51And then those things that really, really do bother you, really,
- 5:55really did get you angry, what you then need to do is just crumple that piece
- 6:01of paper up, toss it into a fire, safely.
- 6:05See, rules sometimes there for good. Burn it.
- 6:10Watch that paper burn.
- 6:14Everything that's on that piece of paper is making you mad and you're watching
- 6:17it dissipate into smoke and ash.
- 6:21Watch the smoke as it travels away.
- 6:25And those are your problems. Those are the things that made you mad and they
- 6:28are now gone out of your life.
- 6:32It's a tip. It's a little trick to bring you back into your own self, your own reality.
- 6:38Once you are there, you need to start spreading some more self-confidence,
- 6:45self-love, and love of others, regardless of what they're doing.
- 6:50Don't get yourself into confrontations. Back off and give yourself a pep talk.
- 6:56Talk to yourself. That person is nothing.
- 7:00They're not bothering me. Their actions are bothering me, but it's not going
- 7:07to ruin my day. Talk to yourself in your head.
- 7:12This will help ease and bring down that tension.
- 7:16And put yourself back in a level spot. A place that you want to be in.
- 7:22Or even better yet, just picture an ocean, picture a beach, picture whatever
- 7:26it is that you really enjoy.
- 7:28Whenever anything starts to give you some sort of anxiety, anger,
- 7:33whatever that case may be, envision it and immerse yourself in that vision.
- 7:41These little things, you know, it's all related to meditation and calming,
- 7:47but we are so wound up, so wound up tight that we forget these tiny little things
- 7:54that I'm pushing is so simplistic, we forget about them. And sometimes we're
- 8:00going to refuse to do them.
- 8:03Gary does not know what he's talking about. Oh, I'm so angry and all.
- 8:07But did you try the technique?
- 8:10Did you take a step back? Did you take a deep breath? Did you say something
- 8:13in your head? Did you envision something else in your head?
- 8:15Did you divert your mind away from the situation? No.
- 8:19And that's why you're getting the anxiety, the anger, and everything else.
- 8:23And the more you allow that, the more it accumulates and the worse you get.
- 8:29Internally, where all of our organs and everything that help us function every
- 8:34single day, that breathe life into us, and we start becoming sick.
- 8:42Things start happening to us. Our organs can't take it anymore.
- 8:47What good is it now? What good was being angry?
- 8:52What good was it having hatred? what good was it just not being a normal human
- 8:58being and stepping away and taking a breath,
- 9:02that simple simple act is going
- 9:06to save you from some really big things you might think angers hey i'm always
- 9:13going to be angry i'm always going to have things in front of me there's always
- 9:16going to be people cutting me off the world sucks yes all of this might be true
- 9:21and it's definitely true if you keep saying it.
- 9:25Your words matter. Your words keep speaking this into existence.
- 9:31The moment you take that breath, let it all go.
- 9:37Yeah, maybe life sucks, but my life is fantastic. I'm having a great time. I'm happy.
- 9:46Nothing bothers me. All these other people are trapped.
- 9:51And they're the ones that are suffering. Not me. And I will not allow it to be me.
- 9:58Keep yourself healthy, my friends. Stay happy.
- 10:03Do these ridiculously easy things. Ridiculously easy. One breath.
- 10:13I let it all go. That's it, man. It is that simple.
- 10:18I can tell you this over and over and over again. And you're going to hate me
- 10:22more and more and more and more.
- 10:24You're going to keep saying it's not going to work. It's not going to work.
- 10:26It's not going to work. What's happening?
- 10:29It's not going to work because you're telling yourself it's not going to work.
- 10:33Your body now is going to put itself into shutdown moments. I'm not doing that
- 10:37because it's not going to work.
- 10:39Start doing it. Start believing in it. Start letting it calm you down and bring
- 10:45you back to another place.
- 10:47Then you realize, yeah, you know, that simplicity really helped me.
- 10:55Monitor your blood pressure. You can go into most drugstores now, right?
- 11:01You can get your free blood pressure. Or you can buy a cuff for real easy.
- 11:06See where your blood pressure's at.
- 11:08And then if it's way high and then you start practicing meditation and you start
- 11:12calming yourself down, keep taking your pressure before and after meditation.
- 11:18Watch and see if there's a drop. Might not be completely significant,
- 11:24but if any drop, you know how healthy that is?
- 11:30Why go on blood pressure medications? Why go on any kind of meditation?
- 11:34It's going to create even more problems, more side effects, more medications before you get there.
- 11:42Practice self-healing.
- 11:46Practice all of that magic that we all have inside of us.
- 11:53Physical ailments be damned. We can take care of them ourselves.
- 11:58And it all starts with that most simplistic piece of advice that I gave you.
- 12:06To step back, take a deep breath. Tell yourself in your mind, I'm not angry.
- 12:13Those people are angry. they are going to suffer on their own.
- 12:17I am in my own protected bubble.
- 12:21I tell you, you're going to be so, so pleased with the results.
- 12:26You start to become a better person.
- 12:29You can start to reach out to other people. You can start weaving your way through all of that anger.
- 12:35You might be able to teach other people these simple lessons.
- 12:41I don't have to be the only one that teaches it. Anybody can teach it.
- 12:46The problem is, you need to be able to do it.
- 12:51So my friends, with that Again, I thank you so much for joining me here Don't
- 12:57forget our Monday morning episodes,

- 13:16I got the ball rolling on it,
- 13:18But we'll start doing some Thursday night sermons, basically,
- 13:22where Lizzie and I are going to teach you things, self-help.
- 13:27We're going to teach you about what this church is, because basically we're teaching you about you.
- 13:33You have more to offer us than we do to you.
- 13:39None of this would be possible without you. Tell your friends.
- 13:44Start spreading the word.
