Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time for another edition of the Patriots Draft to Countdown,
- 0:02Speaker 1: presented by bud Light. Easy to drink, Easier to enjoy.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Bud Light is the official beer sponsor of the New
- 0:07Speaker 1: England Patriots. It's Matt Smith with Mike dussaut as a
- 0:10Speaker 1: combine rolls on here from Indianapolis. Mike, I know fans
- 0:15Speaker 1: look at the position of wide receiver. They want a
- 0:18Speaker 1: wide receiver under their tree for Christmas or draft whatever,
- 0:22Speaker 1: whatever your holiday that just celebrate. You mentioned the other
- 0:25Speaker 1: day that you don't think it's likely that that number
- 0:27Speaker 1: one receiver is coming from free agency. So, with that
- 0:30Speaker 1: being said and wide receivers being part of the discussion today,
- 0:34Speaker 1: give me a guy that you think would be realistic
- 0:36Speaker 1: maybe for Patriots fans to think about.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Sure, I mean, I'd start with some of the ones
- 0:42Speaker 2: that you see. You know, Casey Concepcion from Texas A
- 0:44Speaker 2: and M is a really exciting, dynamic player and it'd
- 0:47Speaker 2: be easy to imagine him slide into this offense and
- 0:51Speaker 2: giving Drake may that quick open option. You know, somebody
- 0:53Speaker 2: who can shake loose and then make plays with the
- 0:57Speaker 2: ball in their hands.
- 0:58Speaker 3: The guy that I'm kind of intrigued by the and this.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Isn't usually my type. Matt is Denzel Boston from Washington.
- 1:03Speaker 2: He's a big guy. You know, sometimes we're afraid of
- 1:05Speaker 2: those guys. They're afraid of, like, oh, contest to catch.
- 1:07Speaker 2: He can't Runnie, can't get away from people. But I
- 1:10Speaker 2: think he's got a special skill set. And when you
- 1:12Speaker 2: look at what Drake may tends to gravitate towards those
- 1:15Speaker 2: big targets. You know, loves throwing a MATC Collins. This
- 1:18Speaker 2: is a guy who maybe on the outside could give
- 1:20Speaker 2: him that option. A big guy on the outside that
- 1:22Speaker 2: Drake we know is downfield accuracy is amazing.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Pushed the ball down to someone like that. And then
- 1:26Speaker 3: the last two guys.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I'll just mention are the two Indiana guys. Everybody saw
- 1:29Speaker 2: plenty of them in the playoffs, sure, and Omar Cooper
- 1:32Speaker 2: junior of the two is really you know, got some
- 1:34Speaker 2: buzz here going on in the combine. It's what we
- 1:36Speaker 2: heard the last few days. Seems like he's another guy
- 1:39Speaker 2: that's going up draft boards and it is probably going
- 1:41Speaker 2: to be in that late first round, you know, might
- 1:42Speaker 2: sneak into the first round kind of territory.
- 1:44Speaker 3: So whether it's edge or wide receiver.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I think those are the two most intriguing positions here
- 1:49Speaker 2: after this week in the draft, and maybe right tackle,
- 1:50Speaker 2: like a right tackle in the future when we're talking
- 1:52Speaker 2: about the end of that first round. I think those
- 1:54Speaker 2: are the positions that are going to be most likely
- 1:57Speaker 2: in the target range of what the Patriots are looking for.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Deuce's view for some potential draft pick people for the Patriots.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Let's hear from another draft guru. That's Matt Miller from ESPN.
- 2:07Speaker 2: All right, excited now to be joined by Matt Miller
- 2:09Speaker 2: from ESPN. Matt, thanks for sitting down with us again
- 2:11Speaker 2: this year. Appreciate it. Appreciate all the hard work you
- 2:13Speaker 2: put in trying to guide us. We're used to being
- 2:15Speaker 2: on the top of the draft and now a.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Little bit different scenario this year than when we sat
- 2:18Speaker 3: down last year.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Right right, It's like it's gonna be these three guys,
- 2:20Speaker 2: which one of it's going to be?
- 2:21Speaker 3: But I'm just curious your perspective.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Thirty first, overall, a lot to talk about the edge class,
- 2:26Speaker 2: the edge need for the Patriots.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Yeah, how do you see it lining up there?
- 2:29Speaker 4: I think it, Mary's really well, honestly, you know, the
- 2:31Speaker 4: edge classes, we'll see six players, maybe seven go in
- 2:34Speaker 4: the first round. This might be kind of the floor
- 2:37Speaker 4: for that right if where that edge talent drops off.
- 2:40Speaker 4: So many people are going to talk about the guys
- 2:42Speaker 4: at the top Ruben Bain, David Bailey, Rvel Reese, we
- 2:45Speaker 4: know they're going to go probably in the top ten,
- 2:47Speaker 4: but there's really good depth.
- 2:48Speaker 3: You get to TJ.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Parker from Clemson, Zion Young from Missouri, or Mason Thomas
- 2:51Speaker 4: from Oklahoma. There are really good players that are going
- 2:53Speaker 4: to be in that back end that still fit what Vrabel's.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Looking for at edge Rusher.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You say, like, what Vrabel's looking for after watching this
- 2:59Speaker 2: team this year, I'm like, I know what we're Abel's
- 3:00Speaker 2: looking for.
- 3:01Speaker 3: If he wants guys to play.
- 3:02Speaker 2: With their hair on fire, yep, you know messidor you
- 3:04Speaker 2: mentioned r Mason Thomas, another guy that seemed to play
- 3:07Speaker 2: with that style.
- 3:07Speaker 3: But if it.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Wasn't edge there, you know, like, because sometimes I feel
- 3:11Speaker 2: like you're the end of the first round. You're kind
- 3:13Speaker 2: of waiting to see where does the value get pushed
- 3:15Speaker 2: down And maybe it's not a need that everybody's talking about,
- 3:18Speaker 2: but you know, maybe the tight end, you know from
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oregon City falls like somebody like that is there, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 2: a position group maybe you could see getting pushed down
- 3:24Speaker 2: where there might be some value that people aren't talking about.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean definitely.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I think wide receiver is one where again, six players
- 3:30Speaker 4: might go in the first round if one of those
- 3:32Speaker 4: slips through the cracks. It feels like that happens every
- 3:34Speaker 4: year where we see a players like, oh, there's this
- 3:36Speaker 4: Gaga top twenty.
- 3:37Speaker 3: And then they end up being there.
- 3:38Speaker 4: You know that every year for the Chiefs, it feels
- 3:40Speaker 4: like that would be the player we would we would
- 3:42Speaker 4: mock to them. So I think this could be the
- 3:44Speaker 4: year for wide receivers where someone like Denzel Boston from Washington,
- 3:47Speaker 4: Omar Cooper from Indiana, one of those guys maybe slips
- 3:50Speaker 4: through the cracks and their thirty one. And I think
- 3:52Speaker 4: the lesson from you know, the Patriots dynasty and then
- 3:55Speaker 4: the Chiefs dynasty is that to sustain those you should
- 3:58Speaker 4: just draft the best player available. Don't reach for need
- 4:00Speaker 4: because if you miss, if you draft, if you go
- 4:03Speaker 4: into the first round and say we have to get
- 4:05Speaker 4: an edge, then you miss, You've hurt yourself so badly.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Whereas if you're drafting best player available in every round
- 4:10Speaker 4: and you miss It's okay because in the second round,
- 4:12Speaker 4: maybe that guy is a starter. Maybe the third on
- 4:14Speaker 4: that guy is So I think the lesson for and listen,
- 4:17Speaker 4: Elliot Wolf, Mike Rabel know this very very well.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Best player available is the way to go.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I mean, that's where when we saw the decline, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: you know, after eighteen nineteen and even in eighteen it
- 4:26Speaker 2: felt like they won the super Bowl, but the talent
- 4:28Speaker 2: was declining, miss drafts, miss high round picks, and now
- 4:31Speaker 2: you start to stack some of those Rabel heard from
- 4:34Speaker 2: him earlier up on the podium.
- 4:35Speaker 3: You mentioned the tight end class that he kind of
- 4:37Speaker 3: liked it. I mean, I mentioned Sadik.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I know he's kind of the top guy, but you know,
- 4:40Speaker 2: it seems like there are some other options there. Maybe
- 4:42Speaker 2: for Day two, day three, anybody that stands out to
- 4:44Speaker 2: you that you like that maybe Patriot fansho should keep
- 4:46Speaker 2: an eye on.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 4: I think the cool thing about this tight end class,
- 4:48Speaker 4: and it is is deep, especially on day three, is
- 4:50Speaker 4: that there are a lot of different types of tight ends.
- 4:52Speaker 4: You know, if you want to go with more of
- 4:53Speaker 4: that athletic.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Move tight end.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Eli Stowers from Vanderbilt is going to give you that
- 4:57Speaker 4: if you want more of your classic in line. You know,
- 4:59Speaker 4: when you think about Mike Rabel, what type of tight
- 5:01Speaker 4: end like Max Claire from Ohio State, Sure you know
- 5:03Speaker 4: it's gonna be that in Joe Royer from Cincinnati, a
- 5:06Speaker 4: Jack Injuries from Texas.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Those guys are probably gonna be fourth round picks, but.
- 5:10Speaker 4: They have that inline ability, They have the toughness to
- 5:13Speaker 4: be an impact in the run game, and then they're
- 5:15Speaker 4: gonna give you a little bit of something as a
- 5:16Speaker 4: pass catcher as well.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So, Matt, just a big overall question, who are your
- 5:19Speaker 2: favorite guys this year? Just you know, no needs, no teams,
- 5:22Speaker 2: just guys when you watch you're like, hey, this is fun.
- 5:24Speaker 3: This is why I do what I did.
- 5:25Speaker 4: With Jeremiah Love is an easy answer there running back
- 5:27Speaker 4: from Notre Dame. But I think getting outside of you know,
- 5:29Speaker 4: an obvious player Dangelo Ponds from Indiana, can't they Scott
- 5:33Speaker 4: from Miami. Two nickel corners like pound for pound toughest
- 5:37Speaker 4: guys in the draft class. Even though they're like five
- 5:39Speaker 4: ten and eighty five pounds. We saw them throughout the
- 5:41Speaker 4: college wall playoff. Their impact is blitzers off the edge,
- 5:44Speaker 4: they're impacting coverage. Those are the guys that make it fun.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Where you're looking at a player that's you know, maybe
- 5:49Speaker 4: wasn't a five star recruit, maybe didn't go you know
- 5:52Speaker 4: to Georgia, Ohio State Texas. You know guys that in
- 5:55Speaker 4: like with Ponds. You know, he was at Indiana before
- 5:57Speaker 4: Indiana was cool. So to watch him stay with the
- 5:59Speaker 4: who's and kind of define that team with this toughness
- 6:03Speaker 4: and how you know, underrated he's been. Those are the
- 6:05Speaker 4: players that make my job funk.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Sorry, I was just having flashbacks to Devin Witherspoon and
- 6:09Speaker 2: the Super Bowl coming off the edge there.
- 6:10Speaker 3: For Yeah, sorry about that. Yeah, go get your own
- 6:13Speaker 3: version of that, right.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I like it.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I go, Well, Matt, thank you so much again and
- 6:16Speaker 3: we'll see you next year. Sounds great. Thanks Da, Matt Miller. Everybody.
- 6:20Speaker 1: So here we are at the end of February. March
- 6:22Speaker 1: is around the corner. The draft is in April, and
- 6:24Speaker 1: would you say that we're in full mock draft season?
- 6:28Speaker 3: I hope.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So, Matt, I felt like anybody who's anybody's got a mock draft,
- 6:31Speaker 1: which means I'm not anybody, but I don't have.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You haven't done one.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Well, this is when it's fun to do it, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 2: when you're picking forth overall, it's kind of an exercise
- 6:39Speaker 2: of futility because you're like, I'm gonna take this guy again,
- 6:41Speaker 2: and then you know, you know you're probably gonna get
- 6:43Speaker 2: Will Campbell when you're at thirty one. Though, it's fun
- 6:46Speaker 2: to game it out and see, you know, sometimes.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Who slips through those cracks.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And I think most of the mock drafts that you're
- 6:51Speaker 2: seeing early in the season, usually you're going to overreact
- 6:54Speaker 2: to the Super Bowl, right, and so you're gonna look at, well,
- 6:56Speaker 2: the edge depth is chas On's a free agent, Landry
- 6:58Speaker 2: was banged up.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That's a spot they clearly need to improve.
- 7:01Speaker 2: A lot of people lamenting the offensive line, and you
- 7:04Speaker 2: know that's that also makes sense. But you start to
- 7:07Speaker 2: see trends, and I think that's what we're seeing with
- 7:09Speaker 2: some of these defensive ends, even some of the wide
- 7:11Speaker 2: receivers that we mentioned earlier. But you know, we had
- 7:14Speaker 2: a chance to talk to Cynthia Freeland and I was
- 7:16Speaker 2: really intrigued by her pick because I thought she went
- 7:19Speaker 2: off the off the beaten path a little bit.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So here's Mike Dusau's conversation with Cynthia Freeland.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Are excited now to be joined by Cynthia Freeland from
- 7:26Speaker 2: NFL dot Com NFL Network. Thank you so much for
- 7:29Speaker 2: sitting down with us.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Absolutely glad to be here.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I got to start off with your mock draft because
- 7:33Speaker 2: so many Patriots fans right now, they're like edge class
- 7:35Speaker 2: and you know, you got a couple tackle people, but
- 7:37Speaker 2: you came through with Caleb Banks, a giant penetrating defensive lineman, which.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I'm kind of a defense guy. I love the defense.
- 7:45Speaker 2: And I saw that, I was like, hey, I know
- 7:46Speaker 2: we had some of these, but sign me up for that.
- 7:48Speaker 2: What did you see in him that made you going
- 7:50Speaker 2: to the Patriots?
- 7:51Speaker 5: What I watched his film and when I tracked all
- 7:53Speaker 5: of the data that kind of matches strategies. He's a Verraybell.
- 7:57Speaker 5: He like like, it's like he's a Verraybel.
- 8:00Speaker 3: It's kind of easy to see, right Yeah, well.
- 8:02Speaker 5: And the numbers are pretty like the good news about
- 8:05Speaker 5: Mike Rabel is that you know exactly what the strategy
- 8:08Speaker 5: is going to be. And that's that means like the
- 8:11Speaker 5: fit is easier to find, right, Like that's great. Clarity
- 8:15Speaker 5: is great and sticking to a plan is even greater,
- 8:17Speaker 5: which I think some people have clarity and then they're like, yeah, yeah, no,
- 8:20Speaker 5: I'm going to make this thing fit my back into
- 8:22Speaker 5: my narrative. That's what It doesn't work what Rabel does.
- 8:24Speaker 5: That's not what Rabel does. He does the opposite of that.
- 8:26Speaker 5: So it just felt like that was the one You're like, well,
- 8:30Speaker 5: this my job here is done.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It makes sense.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I said, we're talking to a bunch of people this week,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and it was you know, Rabel came in and he's like,
- 8:36Speaker 2: this is the style we want to play with effort
- 8:37Speaker 2: and finish. And as soon as we saw them starting
- 8:40Speaker 2: to play, especially on the defensive side of the ball,
- 8:41Speaker 2: You're like, okay, I get it, and now we'll start
- 8:43Speaker 2: the scouting process. And I'm like, yep, Brabel, Rabel, these
- 8:46Speaker 2: are brable guys. Plays with his hair on fire. But
- 8:49Speaker 2: don't want to ask you a little different for the Patriots,
- 8:51Speaker 2: we've been up at the top of the draft the
- 8:52Speaker 2: last few years. Who saw last year coming, not even
- 8:55Speaker 2: us here on the inside.
- 8:56Speaker 5: But I'm like, obsessed with your I went to b
- 8:58Speaker 5: c accent Is I'm like obsessed with a little bit.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I'm like have it. I'm like, keep talking.
- 9:03Speaker 3: About I want to have a couple of drinks. Then
- 9:05Speaker 3: it comes out even more. But we're not there. We're
- 9:06Speaker 3: not there.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Drink okay, but you know, I feel like when you're
- 9:10Speaker 2: at the bottom of the first round, you're waiting to
- 9:12Speaker 2: see who.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Might fall through the cracks.
- 9:15Speaker 2: And I do love this edge class, So I feel
- 9:17Speaker 2: like we got to talk a little bit about it.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Any of those guys you see that you think rable guy.
- 9:22Speaker 5: So he won't he won't be available where you're picking.
- 9:25Speaker 5: But I think Casha Stowell is a rable guy. The
- 9:29Speaker 5: one cool thing or there's a lot of cool things
- 9:31Speaker 5: about him, but one of the coolest things about him
- 9:34Speaker 5: is the fatigue factor. So I've been measuring I've been
- 9:36Speaker 5: using the data to see how often in the fourth
- 9:40Speaker 5: quarter the guys get tired versus the first quarter. So
- 9:43Speaker 5: I need to like rename it because it's a good
- 9:45Speaker 5: thing to be low and fatigue. But like that's clunky
- 9:48Speaker 5: to say, So how good are you not being fatigued?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Terrible English whatever exhaustion quotient or something there we go
- 9:56Speaker 2: sounds official.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Right, especially quotiit that really I don't know, I don't
- 10:00Speaker 5: know I don't know agree, But the point is is
- 10:02Speaker 5: Cassius Howell doesn't get tired. He does not have that happen.
- 10:06Speaker 5: I mean, Caleb Downs nowhere near, We're nowhere near, y'all
- 10:10Speaker 5: will have no chance at him. No offense, but it's
- 10:13Speaker 5: not like an offensive thing. But that kid, no, no, no.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Drop off, no way.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Yeah. So, but Cassius Howel, if he were somehow, if
- 10:22Speaker 5: he had some weird fall or whatever, that's a guy
- 10:24Speaker 5: who would be a rable guy.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Like our Mason Thomas too, a little bit places with
- 10:27Speaker 2: that kind of style, a little smaller kind of a guy.
- 10:29Speaker 2: But when you look over all the draft, regardless of
- 10:31Speaker 2: Patriots or anything, are there any guys that just you
- 10:33Speaker 2: were like, I love this guy.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I think he came down easy to love him.
- 10:37Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm I'm all in on Caleb Downs now.
- 10:39Speaker 5: I also, I studied this is ridiculous, but I spent
- 10:42Speaker 5: a lot of my master's degree studying offensive linemen because
- 10:47Speaker 5: somebody once told me there was nothing that I could
- 10:49Speaker 5: teach them about. Whatever it was. It was.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Right now, No, we're not going to arm length.
- 10:54Speaker 5: But no, I feel like I'm right now. I'm very
- 10:58Speaker 5: excited about seeing how Friendsis Mawanoah interviews. I don't know
- 11:02Speaker 5: anything about his personality, but Miami tackle he should measure
- 11:06Speaker 5: in around sixty six sixty seven. Pretty interested to see
- 11:10Speaker 5: because I just think a lot of teams need a tackle,
- 11:13Speaker 5: you know. And by the way, I don't care about
- 11:15Speaker 5: Will Campbell's arm. I'd rather want him to be playing
- 11:19Speaker 5: with like all of his ligaments intact. Nice, you know,
- 11:22Speaker 5: but I don't care about his arm. He was my
- 11:25Speaker 5: first pick. I didn't I'm an analytics person. I can
- 11:28Speaker 5: tell you I don't care about his arms.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I'm gona talk about a rabel guy like you heard
- 11:32Speaker 3: last year. The second I heard him speak, I'm like.
- 11:34Speaker 5: I want I want to die for It's not that serious,
- 11:37Speaker 5: too extreme. Ratchet it down just a tiny bit. But
- 11:41Speaker 5: I get where you're going with that. But like just
- 11:43Speaker 5: less I.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Can actually just going back to this year, I mean,
- 11:45Speaker 2: you have a national perspective and you're talking about this
- 11:47Speaker 2: stuff all the time.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Just what was your perspective on this Patriots seen this year.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I know there was talk of the schedule, but I
- 11:52Speaker 2: mean Drake may runner up in the MVP. I mean,
- 11:54Speaker 2: like I said, not even the people inside, I mean
- 11:57Speaker 2: we were all just taken aback by how well he
- 11:59Speaker 2: played and how it all came together so quickly.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I think the quick is the part, like it made
- 12:04Speaker 5: complete sense, like all I I mean, Milton Williams, that
- 12:08Speaker 5: was such a smart thing. But I love Bobby Spulane.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Adding Robert Spulane back to the team. I thought that
- 12:14Speaker 5: was low key not talked about anywhere near as much
- 12:18Speaker 5: as it should have been. The run stop, like that's
- 12:21Speaker 5: just a that's a dude right there. But he's also
- 12:23Speaker 5: I mean, if you look at anything good that happened
- 12:25Speaker 5: on the Raiders, was like, oh, it's Robert Spelane. It's
- 12:28Speaker 5: Bobby's splane, right, so you're looking at that. And I
- 12:30Speaker 5: thought even the less premium free agent and I don't
- 12:34Speaker 5: need to call on that, but less expensive how about that?
- 12:37Speaker 5: The less expensive free agent acquisitions were really good too.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Did I think that this would be the year that
- 12:41Speaker 5: they would go to the Super Bowl? Nope, But I
- 12:44Speaker 5: wasn't really surprised. I do think it kind of the
- 12:47Speaker 5: wheels fell off a little bit with like injuries and
- 12:50Speaker 5: trying to like put some like duct tape on, like
- 12:54Speaker 5: you need a little w D forty kid, Okay, Like
- 12:57Speaker 5: but I think that was but that could happen to
- 12:59Speaker 5: any team, So you know, it was just an unfortunate circumstance.
- 13:03Speaker 5: But you know, I thought I thought it was going
- 13:06Speaker 5: to be a good team. I don't. I definitely didn't
- 13:07Speaker 5: think it was a super Bowl team now yet.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Yeah, well I thought it was a good rebuild.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And then we look at the schedule next year. I
- 13:12Speaker 2: mean it's like at Seattle, at Kansas City, at the Chargers.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I mean there's a lot of tough games. What do
- 13:17Speaker 2: you feel like the strategy should be for this Patriots
- 13:19Speaker 2: team this year? I mean, you know, there's cries for
- 13:21Speaker 2: the number one. Everybody got to get that number one receiver.
- 13:24Speaker 2: You got to get one of the three best receivers.
- 13:25Speaker 2: And they you know, that's a big talking point, the
- 13:27Speaker 2: pressure with the edge rushers. But they talked they've established
- 13:31Speaker 2: a core, a foundation. They've got to continue to build
- 13:34Speaker 2: on it. What are your thoughts on how do they
- 13:36Speaker 2: approach the expectations now after going to a Super Bowl?
- 13:39Speaker 5: Can we just get like a can we just do
- 13:40Speaker 5: like a little more of a right tackle? Oh, I'm
- 13:42Speaker 5: so mean, I'm so mean. I just want to protect
- 13:45Speaker 5: Drake May. I think he's so special and has the
- 13:49Speaker 5: potential to be illegally. I will never crown a guy
- 13:52Speaker 5: until I've seen it. You know, even Patrick Mahomes after
- 13:56Speaker 5: that one amazing year, I wasn't like, I'm not ready
- 13:58Speaker 5: to You got to give him three because then now
- 14:01Speaker 5: everyone will adjust and then can you adjust back. It
- 14:04Speaker 5: seems like Drake may will be fully capable of doing that,
- 14:07Speaker 5: But again I still want to go ahead. I reserve
- 14:09Speaker 5: the word elite for the actual elite people, so by
- 14:12Speaker 5: definition it has to be very few. But he has
- 14:15Speaker 5: all signs point to that. So like pull out like
- 14:17Speaker 5: a like a little armored vehicle is there? Who's the
- 14:21Speaker 5: most refrigerator like in this Strett Francis mouwa, Yeah right,
- 14:24Speaker 5: let's put him. But anyways, but what long story short
- 14:26Speaker 5: is that? That to me is like focus on that
- 14:29Speaker 5: this team has a lot of different opportunities to be successful.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I don't care how it looks. I don't care if
- 14:35Speaker 5: it's a number one wide receiver that's named like hottest
- 14:38Speaker 5: wide receiver the whole world, Like, it doesn't need to
- 14:41Speaker 5: be that. Aj Brown a fan. Okay, great, that'd be awesome,
- 14:47Speaker 5: But what is what are you giving up to get him?
- 14:50Speaker 5: Because if it's a right tackle, I'm going with that.
- 14:53Speaker 5: And I'm not trying to be meanteriorright tackle. I just
- 14:54Speaker 5: think that, like I said, I want.
- 14:56Speaker 3: You well, it's more.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I mean, he's you know, thirty four years old, Morgan Moses.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I mean, and yeah, usually the end of the first
- 14:59Speaker 2: round you might get a right tackle with them.
- 15:01Speaker 5: I'm just saying I'm not like, no, I'm not throwing shade.
- 15:04Speaker 5: I just I want to give Drake May every single
- 15:06Speaker 5: asset to succeed because it was so great. And I'm
- 15:09Speaker 5: like a huge Hunter Henry Fan. Yeah, yeah, giant Hunter
- 15:11Speaker 5: Henry Fan did a service trip last year with him
- 15:14Speaker 5: and his wife and so the Herzliks, who were good
- 15:17Speaker 5: BC kids, and we went to you know, we went
- 15:20Speaker 5: to Africa and it was about anti human trafficking. So
- 15:23Speaker 5: I would really like Hunter Henry to have like, like, conservatively,
- 15:27Speaker 5: how about twenty touchdowns? Have you got with that?
- 15:29Speaker 3: I think we could do that. I think the compar
- 15:31Speaker 3: great last one Max Crosby, Yeah, I think that's a fit.
- 15:34Speaker 3: They could that move happen.
- 15:35Speaker 5: I think Max Crosby is a fit with like any team.
- 15:39Speaker 5: I don't think it will happen because I think he's
- 15:41Speaker 5: not going to leave the Raiders, but I don't know.
- 15:44Speaker 5: I mean, they said they're gonna play thirty four. Now
- 15:46Speaker 5: they could pretend that teams actually play bass defense. He
- 15:49Speaker 5: could be like, I want to play in a forty three.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I don't think that that's actually the I just don't
- 15:53Speaker 5: think they'll let him out the door. Mark Davis is
- 15:55Speaker 5: like obsessed with him. So I just Mark Davis was like,
- 15:57Speaker 5: absolutely not.
- 15:58Speaker 3: You are here.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Yeah, would be a fit on any team. There's no
- 16:01Speaker 5: team that would be like, we don't need your service right.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Right in that best past preussion, I'm like, no, No,
- 16:05Speaker 3: we're good.
- 16:05Speaker 5: We're good. He's a really good at run stopping too.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Like at seven seasons that he's been in the league,
- 16:11Speaker 5: he has the most run stops at the position.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So a lot of Patriots dans clamoring form We'll see
- 16:15Speaker 3: what happens. But Cynthia, thank you so much for savings.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Everyone's clamoring from thank you so much for having me.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Max Crosby, Cynthia Freeland, everybody, all right, Mike, that'll do it.
- 16:23Speaker 1: From the combine, another one in the books.
- 16:25Speaker 2: What do you think? What are your impressions? Oh, it's
- 16:27Speaker 2: it's always a blast. I mean it's a little different though.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I mean this is kind of what more I was
- 16:31Speaker 2: used to early on in my career, picking late and
- 16:34Speaker 2: not really knowing. The last few years we've been here,
- 16:36Speaker 2: you kind of know who the guys are going to be.
- 16:38Speaker 2: There's maybe five or six guys in that first pick.
- 16:40Speaker 2: But it's always great energy here. It feels like a
- 16:42Speaker 2: land stuck in time. You're always here the same week
- 16:45Speaker 2: with the same people, at the same restaurants and the
- 16:47Speaker 2: same hotels. So it's always a blast. And I you know,
- 16:49Speaker 2: we talked to Vrabel earlier in the week. Good way
- 16:52Speaker 2: to turn the page. I mean it's not even three
- 16:54Speaker 2: weeks set since they lost that Super Bowl game. Disappointing,
- 16:57Speaker 2: but this is a good way.
- 16:58Speaker 3: To turn the page. And we're onto the off season.
- 17:00Speaker 1: We're on to twenty twenty six for sure. That'll wrap
- 17:03Speaker 1: things up with a Patriots Draft countdown presented by bud Light.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Patriots dot Com is the place to get all of
- 17:08Speaker 1: your draft information, as we'll
- 17:09Speaker 3: Be cranking out the content right up and through the
- 17:11Speaker 3: draft
