- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three OT where we talk all
- 0:04things Major League Baseball. Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate
- 0:09Reyes. It all starts right now.
- 0:16Welcome back to the Three OT presented by Chinook Sedery.
- 0:18This is episode 559. I'll be your host, Kyle Korne.
- 0:22I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:24Nate. Casey, how it right?
- 0:29So you said you went to a subway today and.
- 0:32I regret it. I regret it with all you.
- 0:34Regret it, you say? It's not sitting well, which is
- 0:38a shame because really we're going to get into what I believe
- 0:43is one of our favorite topics. Non baseball of course, and that
- 0:48is food. Couple mentions of food right
- 0:52off the top here. We got for me.
- 0:55That we're going to get into well, we're going to talk about
- 0:57the the Brewers man and like just the the food stories that
- 1:05have blossomed food related stories that have blossomed
- 1:09it's. What?
- 1:11We're powered. On makes from one might even say
- 1:16from from this run, this magical run, that they're on pancakes,
- 1:24Nate. Pancakes.
- 1:29Specifically, pocket pancakes. Pocket pancakes I put out.
- 1:33I put out a video today and I I'm sure you've seen it because
- 1:36I try to put it everywhere because I'm a firm believer in
- 1:38it. So I wanted to get the word out.
- 1:40I wanted to get the message out. The reality of success or
- 1:49succeeding in baseball boils down to 1 simple thing and it's
- 1:57that you vibes. Vibes more specifically a thing
- 2:06to rally around that creates said vibes.
- 2:11Like I said in the video, you go back.
- 2:12Like I said, or the TikTok, you go back quarter century, you've
- 2:17got the Angels back in O2 with the Rally Monkey.
- 2:21You've got you've got a rally squirrel in there.
- 2:26You've got a raccoon. You've got the beards with the
- 2:29Red Sox. You've got Grimace last year,
- 2:32that you got the sausage for the Twins, a whole bevy of things.
- 2:39The sausage is crazy. You got the home run jacket,
- 2:43Blue Jays. That's more of like a feel like
- 2:46it's more like, it's more of like a I'm saying.
- 2:50Sausage isn't a prop. No, yeah, it was.
- 2:52But it I feel like it became more of a thing than just like,
- 2:56oh, we hit a home run here, we can throw a jacket on you.
- 2:59It was like the the sausage with the Twins.
- 3:01Like why are we talking about this on the post game presser?
- 3:03I don't know. But we're winning baseball games
- 3:05kind of that thing. The Dodgers thing again.
- 3:09That's that's well, that's like an extra base hit thing.
- 3:12This is, I'm saying like a thing you're getting the mixed up.
- 3:18We're getting like celebrations and and things like that.
- 3:20Like you're sort of muddy in the.
- 3:22Waters I think if they're inside jokes, you're going to become a
- 3:28thing. The well, there was nothing
- 3:32inside joke about the pocket pancakes.
- 3:35Pat Murphy just hey whips it out of his pocket on on the I think
- 3:41it was Apple TV broadcast a while back.
- 3:43They've got they've since gone 12 and O with the win today
- 3:46against the Pirates, a 12 to five win over the Pirates,
- 3:50they've now pushed their winning streak to 1212 games.
- 3:53They've outscored their opponents 103 to 39.
- 4:01Without question. At this very moment, the best
- 4:06team in baseball, 76 and 44, A run differential of 159.
- 4:16Wonder what it's like to be at eighty wins pre.
- 4:19And I get like we've had teams before.
- 4:21I'm not just saying it, but like, I wonder how good it's got
- 4:24to feel to have eighty wins before you get to September.
- 4:27That's what they're going to be at.
- 4:32That's nice. I honestly hadn't thought about
- 4:35that like crazy. In my mind, I think like the
- 4:38threshold of a good team. I would say I'm, I'm giving a
- 4:42good team 88 wins, 8788 wins, 90 plus is, you know, really,
- 4:51really good and they're now in that conversation to, to crush
- 4:58that potentially. I saw they were talking about on
- 5:02the Sox broadcast tonight. I don't remember the exact
- 5:05number, but it was like 5 of last year's playoff teams had 88
- 5:12or fewer wins or something like that.
- 5:14And to your point, the Brewers are knocking on the door of 80
- 5:17by the end of the month. It's.
- 5:20A good place to be. Month left to go.
- 5:23Yeah, that's nice. What do you tell me your
- 5:27thoughts on how this shapes your or or forms your opinion about
- 5:33the Cubs? Because obviously what the
- 5:35Brewers are doing right now is of another world.
- 5:40But like, how much? How much of this do we pin on
- 5:44the Cubs? Like you, can we really call
- 5:47this a choke job or can we just call this the Brewers running
- 5:53away with their division? Definitely a little both.
- 6:02I was watching a clip from, I think I told you about it, the
- 6:08Johnny Manzel's podcast, and Anthony Rizzo was on it.
- 6:12And he's like one of the things that's not really talked about
- 6:17is like a clubhouse knows when they need a little juice at the
- 6:22deadline and they know when they're a good team and like a
- 6:28little shot in the arm is going to do wonders.
- 6:32And I'm really, I think a lot of people were just disappointed in
- 6:36the Cubs deadline and and I felt like I kind of hyped it up
- 6:41myself just because I was in the mentality of like, it's very
- 6:46Yankees and Sodoesque of like you're you're trying out for
- 6:49Kyle Tucker. Like this is your audition for
- 6:52Kyle Tucker to sign back here, right?
- 6:56And I feel like they could just done a little bit more.
- 6:59They were a good team if there was holes to fill and they
- 7:03didn't fill them. And I feel like, you know, that
- 7:07Clubhouse probably felt it kind of what Rizzo was saying.
- 7:10Like, you know, Clubhouse notices that and look like, and
- 7:13he addressed this, like sometimes the front offices
- 7:17don't line up. And like everyone thinks it's
- 7:20it's a video game at the deadline where all you got to do
- 7:23is just throw offers out there. And it's just a yes, yes.
- 7:26It's just it's not that simple. Your prospects have to line up
- 7:30with the guy you're looking at and that team's organization,
- 7:34that organization's, you know, holes that they want to fill
- 7:37with your prospects. And if it doesn't line up, it
- 7:38doesn't line up. So I think I don't want to
- 7:43discredit what the Brewers are doing.
- 7:45I think the Cubs are in a really good place and they've had a
- 7:47good year and it's been turning a corner over the last few
- 7:50years. This is just very disappointing.
- 7:53I feel like they're sliding. But to credit that and what you
- 7:57were talking about the run differential with the Brewers,
- 8:01this is a team that like has gotten to the point where
- 8:04they're just they're not going to beat themselves.
- 8:07And that's how these mid, mid to small market teams have to
- 8:10operate. If you're not going to attract
- 8:12the superstars in in free agency, if you're not willing to
- 8:17fully commit at the deadline, you kind of have to just play
- 8:22good baseball. And that's what they do.
- 8:24And it's refreshing because it is very anti today's game.
- 8:30There's not a ton of swing and miss in their lineup.
- 8:34They play good defense. They do well on the bases.
- 8:39Pitching is is really good. The fact that Brandon Woodruff
- 8:42has just come back and immediately been a stud like
- 8:46that, all that stuff's really important.
- 8:49Yeah, for real. Big time little.
- 8:51Teaser. As far as the pancake goes, I
- 8:54did have a question and I can't remember I.
- 8:59Do we know what pocket that came out of?
- 9:04Well, I mean, the options are important question.
- 9:07Well, the options are pretty limited.
- 9:09I would think. Pat Murphy's got it.
- 9:11I mean, he's got to be a uniform guy like these managers.
- 9:13Have he's not. He's got that VP jacket.
- 9:18ASU legend Pat Murphy, by the way.
- 9:20That's what I'm. Saying BP jackets got the the
- 9:23pockets up here. Well, I mean, I was just
- 9:26thinking lower half here. I'm thinking back, back pant
- 9:29pocket. No.
- 9:30Is that is that safe? I think that's where my problem
- 9:32is with this because like, I also like back pocket in the in
- 9:40the dead of summer in the Midwest.
- 9:42And then who? Was it?
- 9:44Who was the moist pancake? Who was the woman?
- 9:49It's not Tricia Whitaker. Why am I thinking the name
- 9:52Tricia Whitaker? Who?
- 9:53Is who is that? Why does that sound right?
- 9:55That why does that sound right? It's the girl.
- 9:57Who used to cover? The rays she used to cover the
- 10:00rays. I don't remember her name
- 10:01though. I don't know, nobody seemed to
- 10:04be talking about it, but did he not hand her the pot the the
- 10:08pancake to take a bite and she also had some she.
- 10:11She also had some. Kind of a wild move that I don't
- 10:15feel like got enough attention. Yeah, that's something I feel
- 10:18like we need to address. Look.
- 10:20I'm just. Or follow up on rather.
- 10:22Look, I the Midwest been the summer, a lot of humidity around
- 10:35those lakes. You know what I mean?
- 10:36Like I get I just I don't know. I don't know.
- 10:42I think it was Tricia Whitaker, by the way, what a pull.
- 10:44Well, that's a. Crazy good pull.
- 10:46Thank you. Thank you.
- 10:46I think it. Isn't that the that's like the,
- 10:50I don't know what they call it, but that reporter.
- 10:53Yeah. Even though I don't, I don't
- 10:55like that term title. I don't.
- 10:57Sport. Yeah, wrong sport.
- 11:00Yeah, it literally. Yeah.
- 11:01Sure enough, that was her with Pat Murphy.
- 11:03Yep. Yeah.
- 11:04Former Rays, I believe. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:07Six seasons with the race. Have we have we had any more
- 11:09updates on the pancake? Has there been more pancakes
- 11:12since? Is this a daily thing?
- 11:14Like where are we at with this? I need details.
- 11:17I don't have an update on the status of of of the OR the
- 11:22ongoing status of of the pancake in the role that it might might
- 11:26serve in their dugout. However, I did have another
- 11:30update of food related to what the Brewers have done with their
- 11:3412 game-winning streak. You may or may not have heard
- 11:37about the burgers that a lot of Brewers fans are talking about
- 11:41right now because you just hear Brewers fans throwing out
- 11:43burgers. Burgers we want, burgers.
- 11:44We what are you talking about as a non Brewers guy?
- 11:48Yeah, fill me in. What are these burgers about?
- 11:50So I did a little research. George Webb, It's a Webb's.
- 11:56It's a Milwaukee restaurant chain.
- 11:59OK. So stay with me here.
- 12:05George Webb's, a Milwaukee restaurant chain, has a long
- 12:09standing tradition of giving away free hamburgers when the
- 12:12Milwaukee Brewers baseball team wins 12 consecutive games.
- 12:16This promotion, formalized in the 1960s, is tied to the legacy
- 12:21of George Webb, who founded the restaurant chain in 1948.
- 12:24The tradition was initially based on a prediction made by
- 12:27Webb about a local baseball team winning twelve straight games
- 12:30and has been honored twice in the restaurant's history, in
- 12:331987 and 2018. All right.
- 12:39Make that. Make that 3.
- 12:41Good deal. See I remember something like
- 12:44when I was in Denver. The Rocky.
- 12:45I think they still do the Rockies.
- 12:47If they score 7, you get a free Taco from Taco Bell and it's you
- 12:53got to be like in the Denver metro area Taco Bells to take
- 12:57advantage of that. I think the angels do something
- 12:59like free, they're linked up with Mickey D's.
- 13:02I think they give away medium fry or something with like a
- 13:05minimum purchase which is stupid.
- 13:07That's just, that's just the McDonald's thing.
- 13:09What are we doing anyway? Who's Someone needs to step in
- 13:13from the pancake market and really take advantage of what's
- 13:16happening with the Brewers. Yeah, that's a missed
- 13:21opportunity if they. Don't it?
- 13:22It really is. I don't know if I want like a
- 13:25like an IHOP, you know? No, I want something kind of
- 13:29like the burgers, something local.
- 13:34It's not local, but I was thinking of like the pancake mix
- 13:36that we have upstairs. It's like the crusties or
- 13:38whatever, Like the big old bag crusties.
- 13:43Crusties, not crusties. Not like the Krusty Krab.
- 13:48We're talking Krusties. It's the Big Blue bag.
- 13:50I'm sure people know what I'm talking about.
- 13:51You just take the you take a scoop, drop it in.
- 13:54Hey, shout out, Chinook. Speaking of food, shout him out.
- 13:59Shout him out. No, but you take the you take
- 14:02the pancake mix, drop it in, mix some water.
- 14:05You got some pancakes. Somebody like that needs to step
- 14:07in and and really take advantage of of what the Brewers are doing
- 14:11right now. Yeah.
- 14:11There we go. Laura Krusties.
- 14:13There we go. That's what I'm talking about.
- 14:17So burgers all around. The last thing I'll say on on
- 14:20what the Brewers are are doing from a baseball perspective now
- 14:23that we've sort of covered the food bases here.
- 14:25Got that again, going back to my point about a team needing
- 14:31something to to rally around to really help go on a run, The
- 14:36Brewers are proving that it's something as silly as a pancake
- 14:40can. Even if things aren't going as
- 14:43well, maybe internally or on the field or whatever it may be.
- 14:47A lot of times if you, if something like this pops up, you
- 14:51you sort of roll with it, you ride with it.
- 14:53The fans buy in, they get behind it.
- 14:56You got fans creating posters with pancakes on them.
- 14:59It sounds silly. It sounds stupid, but I'm
- 15:02telling you like this is not a bit I've, I genuinely have been
- 15:06saying this for years. That and you, I, I promise you,
- 15:09I've said it on this podcast before, go back and find the
- 15:12receipts. Having something to to get
- 15:16behind can vary, especially this time of year like we're
- 15:21approaching the the tail end of the season here can really do
- 15:24wonders for a team's mojo heading into heading into the
- 15:29fall. Well, unless you're the Mets
- 15:32because they had the Pablo Sanchez night that I think they
- 15:37won ten straight and then it's been a free fall since.
- 15:41Well, that's just the Mets. But yeah, they, that example and
- 15:47grimace both proved to work. They, they, they sort of proved
- 15:51my theory again, I, like I said, like, sure, like I said in the
- 15:55TikTok today, it's not, it doesn't guarantee a World Series
- 15:57title by any stretch. But it's nice little thing.
- 16:01It gives you a little little boost.
- 16:03Like we talked about last episode, we're we're in very
- 16:05much the dog days right now. It's always nice to have a
- 16:08little little shot to the arm every now and then with
- 16:10something as silly as a pancake. The fact that the Brewers have a
- 16:17six game lead on the best record in baseball, at least in the win
- 16:27total, the win column. Six games, that's all.
- 16:32That's the rest of baseball, you're saying?
- 16:35All of baseball. Well, with that said, going back
- 16:38to the Cubs real quick, are we Brewers taking the taking the
- 16:42division at this point or you know, we're not even in
- 16:45September yet? Are you giving the Brewers the
- 16:47division right now? Yeah, at the time of this
- 16:49recording, 7 1/2 games, I just, I don't think that's it would
- 16:53take an epic collapse. And I can't see that happening
- 16:56because again, like it, this isn't, this isn't A-Team.
- 17:00And, and no disrespect to some of these other teams that like
- 17:03live and die by one thing like that.
- 17:06They're not a team that lives by home runs that are just, they're
- 17:09just bludgeoning teams at the moment.
- 17:11They're not a team that shuts down everybody That and, and
- 17:15pitching is just absolutely more dominant than we've ever seen.
- 17:19Like, this is just a team that's good all the way around baseball
- 17:22and they don't beat themselves, so I can't see them collapsing.
- 17:27So I'm going to give them the division.
- 17:28And I'm going to be honest, like the NL overall has kind of
- 17:36cooled off. Like it's kind of we talked
- 17:42about for a while. Like the narrative for at least
- 17:44half the season was how much better the NL is than the AL.
- 17:49Now that I'm looking at, I'm just like, really, 'cause some
- 17:55big teams have pretty much fallen off at this point between
- 18:00the Diamondbacks, the Giants and the Braves, I'm writing all of
- 18:03them off talking about the Red. Like no disrespect, but the Reds
- 18:10being a game and a half back from the last wild card spot,
- 18:12like it's just not as impressive as what we initially thought,
- 18:18that's all. All right, last thing promise on
- 18:22the Brewers here and then we'll move on to your point, though,
- 18:25about it taking it would require an epic collapse for the Brewers
- 18:29not to win the division coming at the I'd I'd pulled this tweet
- 18:34before they had notched their 12th in a row today.
- 18:38So this would have been this was like late morning when I pulled
- 18:40this, but uncovered uncovered MLB on Twitter again prior to
- 18:45today's game. The Milwaukee Brewers are 50 and
- 18:4916 in their last 66 games, 26 and four in their last 30 and 14
- 18:55and one in their last 15. That that 66 game pace that was
- 19:01that I mentioned in the beginning there 1516.
- 19:04That's a 754 winning percentage. That's not sustainable.
- 19:08No, it's not. Of course it's not.
- 19:10But I mean, we we taught in the same way we talked about in the
- 19:14beginning of the season of like, hey, there's going to be woes
- 19:17during the season. Let's just load up and put as
- 19:20many wins in the bank as we can to eventually, you know, live
- 19:26through those woes. It's a whole different story
- 19:29when you're winning ball games and there's a lot of other teams
- 19:32limping to the finish line and that's what they're doing.
- 19:36And 90 wins is absolutely within reach, and that puts you into a
- 19:42strong conversation. Now the problem is is that
- 19:46they're probably still going to be slept on when they get to the
- 19:49postseason because that's just how it is.
- 19:52Aren't they pacing for like 102 right now?
- 19:55Yeah. And that's what you're saying is
- 19:57that like it's not sustainable. They're not going to continue
- 19:59to, you know, live to this, to this standard.
- 20:02But I mean, I don't know, man, I I kind of like the fact that.
- 20:08Pat Murphy is like found his way in this game.
- 20:12Like I, I, I like his managing style.
- 20:15I think he's pretty much locking himself into the to the NL
- 20:20manager of the year conversation at this point.
- 20:23And I like that. Like you're getting a guy who,
- 20:27you know, I said ASU, like, you know, being at that college
- 20:30level for a little while and like, I'm still that teacher.
- 20:33I think that's his mentality. He's like, I'm hard on my guys,
- 20:37but I'm still going to teach. And that's what a good coach is.
- 20:41And I love that he's in that middle ground of like, I'm sure
- 20:45there's still gut feel and not totally reliant on analytics.
- 20:50And you know, you got to remember that it takes a front
- 20:53office to also buy into that manager style and that's why
- 20:59they're winning. Good for them.
- 21:03I don't want to put this on Pat Murphy, but I as we're as you
- 21:08were just talking about him, I had this glimpse into the future
- 21:12of him taking a turn, the way Brian Snicker took a turn.
- 21:18Age wise, no. No, no, just in terms of
- 21:21perception by the fans, like right now, Brewers fans like
- 21:24this is we love Pat Murphy. This is our guy.
- 21:27Who knows, maybe they're going to win the World Series just
- 21:29like the Braves did. And then a handful of years
- 21:33later, you've got majority of fans calling for his job.
- 21:37And I know like a lot can change in a few years, but it, and
- 21:42again, I'm not, I'm not putting this on Pat Murphy.
- 21:44I wouldn't wish this upon Pat Murphy, but I, I could just see
- 21:47because I feel like, you know, sort of similar in, in different
- 21:51facets. I think that I would.
- 21:55Overall, I would say that the Brewers are a less whiny fan
- 21:58group. That's fair, Yeah.
- 22:03And honestly, watching, yeah, yeah, very much so.
- 22:07I would say, you know, no disrespect, but some.
- 22:10I'm not part of a whiny fan group so.
- 22:13It's like in a post season spot, it's like I'm we'll see you next
- 22:16March. I don't know what to tell you.
- 22:19No. OK, swear.
- 22:21Last thing on the Brewers, then we'll move on.
- 22:25It has been really cool. Like we're just watching what
- 22:29the Brewers have done and seeing just sort of like you kind of
- 22:33get a glimpse in it, just like some traditional old school
- 22:38baseball city kind of thing. I don't know.
- 22:41It's really cool to see, man. Like the fans are the fans could
- 22:45not be more behind the scene right now.
- 22:46They love the Brewers. The the team obvious, as we've
- 22:51talked about, is just playing out of their minds right now.
- 22:53It's really cool to see and it's, you know, it's, they're
- 22:58not a, they're not a major market team like the it's, it's
- 23:02just, it's a different style of baseball and it's, it's been fun
- 23:06to watch. I will say.
- 23:09OK, Speaking of big market teams, let's let's move on here.
- 23:13Let's talk about the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.
- 23:19The San Diego Padres have, as of right now, sole possession of
- 23:25first place and the National League West.
- 23:28As of right now. As of right now, yeah, 'cause
- 23:33they won 11 to one against the Giants today, they've won five
- 23:36straight and 14 of their last 17.
- 23:42The Dodgers are playing right now.
- 23:45So yes, as of as of right now, regardless of that, I saw a
- 23:55nugget that the Padres stand by the first time San Diego has
- 24:02been in first place in August or later since 2010.
- 24:07That's nuts right after this like era.
- 24:15I'm really surprised by that stat.
- 24:18It also shows how dominant the Dodgers have been during this
- 24:22era as well. Exactly right, because you can't
- 24:26say you can't say this era for the Padres, but also leave out
- 24:34that like it's and I'm not saying you're doing that, but
- 24:37I'm just saying like, you know, the nature of the beast for the
- 24:40Padres is that like you can play out of your mind year in and
- 24:44year out, but that's how. Hard it is to win a a World
- 24:48Series. Oh.
- 24:49My goodness, as long as you're. Really, really different.
- 24:51As long as you're in this division with the Dodgers, you
- 24:55are going to be up against it, yeah.
- 25:01They're doing exactly what they should be doing.
- 25:03It's survive on the road, dominate at home.
- 25:07And at the moment they're 18 games over 500 at home and
- 25:13pretty much breaking even on the road.
- 25:15And that's kind of how it should go.
- 25:17Survive on the road, dominate at home.
- 25:21Talk about a team that restocked at the deadline as well versus a
- 25:26team that surprised they didn't do more at the deadline in the
- 25:33Dodgers. Can you take a brief
- 25:37intermission from the Dodgers Padres real quick?
- 25:41Sure, you got something? I got actually one more thing
- 25:43about the Brewers. Are you sitting on a pancake?
- 25:46No one more thing about the Brewers.
- 25:48Last thing I say about the Brewers Promise, truly, this is
- 25:52actually like something that I wanted to touch.
- 25:55Quote of the episode, by the way.
- 25:57I know, last thing, last thing about the Bears.
- 25:59Real quick, though, for real peripheral.
- 26:03I should have started the segment with this because I feel
- 26:06like this is very important. I owe Andrew Vaughn an apology,
- 26:11apparently. Can I?
- 26:14Can I play the clip from our trade deadlines prediction
- 26:17episode? I'd like, I'd like that clip to
- 26:20be played. Sure, let me let me play the
- 26:21clip here got Josh Naylor going to the Brewers because
- 26:24currently. The never ending hole at first
- 26:27base. Oh my goodness, man, Andrew, is
- 26:29it playing? It's not playing.
- 26:30Yeah, it is. Is it?
- 26:32Yeah. You Really.
- 26:34I can't. I can't hear it.
- 26:35Andrew Ball, I'm not worried about you.
- 26:36Who has? It OK hasn't.
- 26:38I don't know if anybody can hear it.
- 26:39I saw. A highlight of him hitting a
- 26:41Homer and his first day be. If 2O5 with 7 jacks is OK and as
- 26:47a Brewer though on an on base at 2:43.
- 26:50I mean does it matter like this is?
- 26:51It's his 2025 campaign. No disrespect.
- 26:56No following any of those. No, it's just statistical data.
- 27:00I'm not I'm not. I'm not necessarily taking a
- 27:03narrative here. I'm just sharing numbers.
- 27:05I hear you. As a Brewer 2 Jacks, he's
- 27:11sitting 350 / 7 games. Hey, come on.
- 27:15I, I mean sure like it's it has it been a, a, a good start to
- 27:21his tenure there? Sure.
- 27:23Is this a guy you want to take into October?
- 27:25No, I've got Josh Naylor going to the Brewers because
- 27:30currently. Oh my goodness, man, all.
- 27:35Right, I sorry, I literally can't hear anything.
- 27:38So I don't I don't like if that doesn't turn out on the
- 27:41recording, I'm sorry, but maybe you just get a whole bunch of
- 27:43nothing there. But if if you heard it, Nate and
- 27:47maybe the the listeners heard it.
- 27:49They know what they know what I'm apologizing for.
- 27:51Andrew Vaughn has apparently turned into Albert Pujols.
- 27:55Well, here's why. Early, early Cardinals Albert
- 27:58Pujols, it seems. You, you didn't say no
- 28:02disrespect. I gave you the opportunity to
- 28:03say disrespect after you gave me the stats off and you didn't.
- 28:08And now look where you're at. You're having to go.
- 28:10Let's put that hand up. Well, put her up.
- 28:12I was just supporting, I was reporting the numbers.
- 28:15I was reporting the numbers that were available to us at that
- 28:18moment in time. So I'm the head, I'm not going
- 28:21to apologize for sharing the numbers, however accountability
- 28:25here, however he has he has bounced back with with this
- 28:31Brewers tenure that he's now a part of since July 7th.
- 28:36Jeff Passan before today's game. Since debuting for the Brewers
- 28:41on July 7th, Andrew Vaughn has the sixth highest average in MLB
- 28:44with 347, sixth best OPS, 1055 in the second most RBI is 32.
- 28:51Any who's I just I wanted to get that on record.
- 28:55Andrew Vaughn, I wasn't familiar with the game.
- 28:58I know and he was getting a lot of shade thrown at him this
- 29:01morning in our group chat for his hairline.
- 29:05Well, I mean, it's also tough. Can't expect him to throw No
- 29:11disrespect there. Any who's back to the Dodgers
- 29:15Padres Nate do can the let's just let's just cut it straight.
- 29:19Can the Padres win the National League West this year?
- 29:22I mean, can they? Sure.
- 29:25Nate, let's just cut it straight here.
- 29:26Will the Padres win the National League West this year?
- 29:38I don't like committing to it. I don't know.
- 29:45I just, I, they have a group with this roster that like,
- 29:49knows how to win. They've been around for a while.
- 29:56You want to. You want to know what's
- 29:57interesting? What do you want to do?
- 29:58What do you want to say? Well, you want to know what's
- 30:00interesting. You know who has the easiest
- 30:04strength of schedule in all of baseball for the remainder of
- 30:08the year? Dodgers.
- 30:10The Los Angeles Dodgers. You know who has the second
- 30:14easiest schedule remaining in all of baseball for the
- 30:16remainder of the year? Padres.
- 30:18The San Diego Padres. All right, all.
- 30:22Right. So take take that for for what
- 30:25you will either way though, regardless, to your point, I'm
- 30:31not going to commit right at this very moment.
- 30:33I, I yes, I'm with you. I, I think they can obviously
- 30:37you were what, 4042 games out I think for until until the
- 30:44postseason and Padres currently hold the top spot, top that
- 30:49division. So I'm going to go ahead and say
- 30:51yes, it's certainly within the scope of possibility.
- 30:56However, regardless how you feel about who's going to come out of
- 30:59the National League West or at least win the National League
- 31:02West, because safe to assume that both teams are coming out
- 31:07of the West, the fact that the Padres have done what they've
- 31:11done is nothing short of impressive.
- 31:14July 3rd they were what, 9 games back?
- 31:2210 games back. Yeah, it's true.
- 31:25In the win column. That's nice subway burps.
- 31:35Never again. Yeah, let's not do that again.
- 31:44Since that. Since that date, July 3rd,
- 31:47Padres are 22, well, 23 and 12 now.
- 31:51Dodgers are 13 and 20. So sort of trending in opposite
- 31:57directions here. And I, I think I'm at a point
- 32:00with the Dodgers where like, especially now that we're on
- 32:06this side of the trade deadline and knowing what they did and or
- 32:11didn't do, we're at the point now where the injuries are kind
- 32:17of just what they are. Like we we've, we've given you,
- 32:20you know, baseball, say we like baseball fans have given you
- 32:25enough slack in being like, OK, like we understand what you're
- 32:31dealing with. But you're also the Dodgers.
- 32:33You are also the deepest team in all of baseball and really all
- 32:37of the like the mankind planet, the history of mankind coming
- 32:43into this season and you're still in first place.
- 32:47So like hats off to you Dodgers. But like, how are we just going
- 32:54to is this just going to be an excuse that we ride until the
- 32:57World Series if we make it that far?
- 32:59And then if we fall short, what's like, well, look at the
- 33:02injury, It's, it's, it's a honestly, it's kind of a win
- 33:05win. If you're a Dodgers fan, no
- 33:06disrespect, but it's like you say, you make it to the World
- 33:09Series, you fall short. Well, look at what we had to
- 33:12deal with all year. Look at the adversity we had to
- 33:14deal with adversity. If you win the World Series and
- 33:18it's like, well, look at what we had to deal with and look at
- 33:22what we still did. Plus the hangover, plus the
- 33:27World Series hangover. You know, you got to have that
- 33:30into account and they're still sound like they're out of it.
- 33:35I don't know. No, and I'd.
- 33:38Like to see the Padres go go in it.
- 33:39I mean a World Series game in Petco would be absurd.
- 33:46I tell you what, that'd be nuts if the NLCS started today.
- 33:53I'm 100% taking the San Diego Padres.
- 33:57Padres fills Don't know how that's going to line up, but
- 34:03that. 'D be sick.
- 34:04I'm saying if we saw a, if we saw a Dodgers, Padres, NLCS and
- 34:09it started today, I'm 100% taking the Padres all.
- 34:16Right. I like that bullpen.
- 34:18I do like the bullpen. That bullpen is going to be a
- 34:21nightmare. You've got like what, 5-6 guys?
- 34:27They could theoretically close a game for you if needed and
- 34:34presumably could be closing on another team if they weren't in
- 34:38this back end. That's I envy the Padres.
- 34:49Same. I mean, really, how, how can you
- 34:53complain? Really, if you're a Padres fan,
- 34:57you're in San Diego, got a beautiful ballpark.
- 35:02I haven't been. I still need to get out there
- 35:03sometime soon. It's great.
- 35:05I'm I'm feeling a trip to San Diego within the next calendar
- 35:11year. I'm feeling it.
- 35:13I really AM. Yeah.
- 35:17You've got Don Orsillo in the booth.
- 35:22It's a vet. Who which by the way, you sent
- 35:24me that clip from his no go down by way of the K from the from
- 35:35the sock series. I mean, what's not to like?
- 35:40Man, I I better not hear and we talked to Winan earlier.
- 35:44I better not hear any winan coming out of San Diego, man,
- 35:47like you got nothing to complain about.
- 35:49You got a heck of a ball club. You got a good zoo, real.
- 35:54Good zoo, you got St. Tacos, you got.
- 35:58Well, you got you got California taxes, but sure, you got a good
- 36:03zoo. Yeah, good seafood.
- 36:08I can't vouch for that, I've never been, but I would imagine
- 36:12being that close to the ocean. No life, no life out there, no
- 36:18compliance. Good pizza at the ballpark, by
- 36:20the way. Best pizza I've had in a
- 36:22ballpark before, hands down. Not normally a ballpark food
- 36:26that I would pull a trigger on. I did there.
- 36:30Why was it just like none of the other options intrigued me as
- 36:33much or as you just heard about the?
- 36:35Pizza, proximity to the seat and we were a little late getting to
- 36:40the seat. Didn't have dinner?
- 36:41You had good seats for that game, I remember.
- 36:44Oh yeah, I spent yeah, 'cause I was like first time in the
- 36:46ballpark. I really want to kind of take it
- 36:48in. And it was like, I don't, I
- 36:57think it was like I had to show my negative COVID test to the
- 37:03usher, so. It.
- 37:06Was like a couple weeks after people were let in back into the
- 37:10stadium A. Weird time that was.
- 37:12It was strange, yeah. I got to get out there, I said.
- 37:23I said I got to get out there. Yeah.
- 37:26You were looking right at me when I said that.
- 37:28You. Froze Man, you're on Internet
- 37:29sucks tonight. My bad.
- 37:32I'm on man. I'm on Ethernet.
- 37:34I don't know what else you want me to do.
- 37:39Talk to the higher ups. Is that me?
- 37:44I don't know who that is. Maybe rookie.
- 37:49See what he knows. Hats off the Padres putting a
- 37:57bow on it, what they what they've been able to do.
- 38:02Like honestly, that's got to be just objectively, that's got to
- 38:05be a a challenging task to well, maybe I don't know.
- 38:11What do you think? Do you think it's it's easier to
- 38:14sort of slide another use that loosely slide under the radar if
- 38:19you're a team like the Padres and everybody's just talking
- 38:22about the Dodgers all the time? Or do you think that that can
- 38:27sort of be a challenge where it's like, hey, don't forget
- 38:30about us? It's hard to say.
- 38:34Because it this isn't the first year we've seen these two teams
- 38:38sort of, you know, Duke it out for the entire year.
- 38:45So that concept isn't, it's. Weird.
- 38:47It's like a, it's like more solidified that they're the
- 38:51little brother because they're such a, I'm not going to say
- 38:57like gap in talent, probably a gap in depth and a gap in
- 39:02spending that it really does feel like there's.
- 39:08Which is crazy to say when you're talking about the Padres
- 39:10who throw money at any breathing thing.
- 39:14I'm kind of winging it on that. I could be wrong.
- 39:19Should we look that up? I'll look it up.
- 39:23Well, I I feel like a gap in spending almost sounds sort of
- 39:27like derogatory, like, you know, the Padres could do so much more
- 39:31when it. No, it's yeah.
- 39:33It's like. They are spending, but nobody's
- 39:35consider them. I don't consider them like a
- 39:43yeah. They're 8th in spending.
- 39:45Total payroll 215 I mean that's 125 million or 1000 million
- 39:54dollars, $125 million less than than the dodgers Dodgers at the
- 39:59top of 340. So I mean that's a significant
- 40:02gap but again, like I'm not complaining I'm not like
- 40:06slapping the you know poor franchise, you know, super
- 40:14underdog David Goliath kind of tag on it.
- 40:18I'm just. Saying that, I feel I feel like
- 40:20it's more solidified of like a little brother, but you now have
- 40:26I don't know. It does feel like the end of the
- 40:27window for like a Xander Bogart's and Manny Machado.
- 40:32And I know that like Fernando can still step in and and
- 40:36Jackson American still step in and like be in their prime, but
- 40:40it does feel like it's kind of coming to a close.
- 40:44So I'd like to see it. It'd be nice.
- 40:47That's a that's a world as long as the Yankees aren't in it.
- 40:49That's a World Series champion that I'm like, good for you
- 40:52guys. I'm I'm happy about that.
- 40:54You know the. First one, exactly.
- 41:01I saw some, I saw somebody today say, whoa, Shohei Otani's
- 41:07pitching on my TV right now. Haven't seen that in a minute,
- 41:10not going to lie. We should talk about him, huh?
- 41:14Yeah, let's get into that. Let's get into show.
- 41:16Hey, but real quick, last thing I'll say on the Padres.
- 41:19For real, though, I saw somebody today say that T-shirt, this
- 41:24last thing, I'll say no, but for real, somebody was like Padres
- 41:31or obviously the little brother, but they're at an age now where
- 41:36they're ready to fight back. And I'm like, I OK, like that's
- 41:39something that's a full that's like a a perspective I can
- 41:43subscribe to where I'm I'm not I'm not ready to hand over the
- 41:47crown to the Padres. And, you know, as, as as eager
- 41:50as Padres fans might be to grab that crown, I think most
- 41:55reasonably minded people can look at this and go, no, like
- 41:58this. Let's let's let's pump the
- 42:00brakes here. Dodgers still reign supreme, but
- 42:04the Padres are, I think at a point, and they showed it to us
- 42:08last October. They're ready to.
- 42:10I think they're at a point now where they're ready to throw
- 42:11some punches and I'm. Excited little brother.
- 42:14Little brother has landed some punches that the older brother
- 42:16has felt. Oh, yeah.
- 42:18And older brother's like, yo, that's going to hurt a lot more
- 42:21in a few years. And then now it's just like
- 42:24those little pencil markings of getting higher and higher in the
- 42:29Padres. And it's just eye level.
- 42:32I'm coming for you. Been beating up on me for too
- 42:35long. Here we come.
- 42:40It'd be nice to see. It'd be nice to see.
- 42:44I guess that. I mean, imagine it's must watch
- 42:47TV if it's a Padres, Phillies and LCS.
- 42:52That's electric factory at both stadiums constantly.
- 42:57Well, don't forget we got that. What was it 2 years ago now?
- 43:04Yeah, I think it feels a little bit sweeter post Dodgers World
- 43:10Series. True.
- 43:11If the Padres, if it lines up to where they have to get through
- 43:15the Dodgers, yeah, I think that makes it even sweeter.
- 43:21That's the only way this can happen, by the way.
- 43:24We can't have like a wild card exit from the Dodgers if it ends
- 43:27up going that way. That'd be crazy, but I'd be here
- 43:32for it. I would be here for.
- 43:34It I'm here, I'm here for the well, I was just out here for
- 43:37the drama, but Nate's here for the downfall.
- 43:40Real quick. I'm not there.
- 43:42Something I am apparently not something I am here for.
- 43:45I'm just seeing this in the chat, Chinook said.
- 43:48To cook bacon inside pancake mix.
- 43:51Is that a move? That kind of sounds like a move.
- 43:54No, I hate that. We've got both of those things.
- 43:57I may and I'm working from home tomorrow.
- 44:00I might try that tomorrow. I don't hate that play.
- 44:05I'm a big. I'm a big.
- 44:06Peanut butter on pancakes guy, by the way.
- 44:09Same. I'm hey, I'm Hand.
- 44:11Syrup. Double up double.
- 44:15Can't say I've done both simultaneously.
- 44:17But I recommend it. I could subscribe.
- 44:19World changing hot syrup. Heat that thing up, put it in
- 44:22the measuring glass cup thing. That and the mic.
- 44:28That I don't do enough. I don't heat up my my syrup
- 44:31enough. Big difference.
- 44:34But I can subscribe to that. Speaking of subscribe, go ahead
- 44:37and hit that like. Please do that.
- 44:40Now let's talk Hawaii. Let's talk about the beautiful
- 44:46land that is Hawaii and Shohei Otani just trying to wreck it
- 44:51all. No, I'm kidding.
- 44:52I to be honest with you, I, I don't, I'm just going to say I
- 44:58don't. I'm not fully grasping what's
- 45:00happening here. I'm not.
- 45:01Fully grasping either. I'm not good bits.
- 45:04Yeah, I'm not going to pretend to to be a real estate expert or
- 45:10an expert even on this situation because it sounds a little bit
- 45:13over my head. Real estate agents get in the
- 45:16chat. Let us know.
- 45:18Real estate agents, hit us up, let us know what's happening.
- 45:21Get in the chat. What's crazy though, is I've
- 45:23seen people that I can, I don't know for certain, but I can
- 45:27pretty much assume based on the abundance of typos in their
- 45:32comments on social media that they're not real estate experts.
- 45:38And boy, are they confident in what actually happened here.
- 45:46And I'm thinking you don't know. None of us really know what
- 45:52actually happened here. All all I know.
- 45:55You tell me your details that you know.
- 45:57I'll see if I know anything different.
- 45:59OK, So the way that I understand this is that Shohei Otani was
- 46:08being, can I say, used by a, a luxury housing development as
- 46:17sort of a like a marketing chip almost.
- 46:23And I don't know if this was an exchange because I think Shohei
- 46:26had interest in this development and, and, you know, and living
- 46:30here, getting a home here, wherever, whatever that means,
- 46:33however often he would go there, who knows?
- 46:38And I, I don't know if this was an exchange, like, hey, you can
- 46:41we use your likeness in exchange for, you know, I don't know, a
- 46:44discount or paying you out, right?
- 46:48I don't know what it actually amounted to.
- 46:53Then apparently Ohtani's agent was like, actually, I don't know
- 46:59if I agree with with what's being proposed here.
- 47:04And so he pulled the plug and then apparently it's sort of
- 47:08caught it caused this project to what was it, $240 million
- 47:13development project on the Big Island to sort of collapse.
- 47:19Is is that fair to say? I kind?
- 47:21Of heard it a little differently.
- 47:23I heard it was like like Otani actually like owned this
- 47:31development. Him and his camp like owned this
- 47:34development and they were making like, they started making like
- 47:39too many like ridiculous requests for this development
- 47:46and the building process has already started.
- 47:48And then Otani and camp were just like, we're out, we're
- 47:51done. And I think there was something
- 47:57about like this general contractor having like a 10%
- 48:03profit or whatever after, after the properties were sold, then
- 48:08it was valued to be at $240 million total.
- 48:12So they were going to supposed to have, I don't know, that's
- 48:15kind of, I mean, again, this is like broken details that I got.
- 48:21I don't really know. I mean, I I don't understand
- 48:23real estate too much so. Bigger picture here though, this
- 48:31isn't. Just another blemish on the
- 48:33image. That's what I'm saying.
- 48:35And, and like, if you're Shohei Otani, I like, I don't.
- 48:41What does this mean? Is this yet another instance of
- 48:44Otani surrounding himself with somebody that doesn't
- 48:48necessarily have his best interest in mind at the like,
- 48:53regardless of that, whether or not this, this agent of his is
- 48:57somebody that has his best interest in mind.
- 49:00If you're Shohei Otani, how are you not just sort of laying low?
- 49:05Like, I'm not, I'm not saying that you have to fall off the
- 49:07grid because you can't because you're Shohei Otani, but why are
- 49:10you getting swept up in these like Mega Millions housing
- 49:16development deals and get and being put in a situation to
- 49:21where something like this could even happen?
- 49:23Like with with all that happened with E pay and and all of that.
- 49:28People are people are still talking about that.
- 49:32So like, I don't know, maybe, maybe outsource these kinds of
- 49:38things to a, a circle of people even further beyond where you
- 49:43currently have it operating because having it this close to
- 49:46where it's your literal agent handling these things, I don't
- 49:50know if that's the wisest thing. And again, who am I to sit here
- 49:53and give Shohei Otani financial advice?
- 49:56I'm not. It's just, it seems odd to me
- 50:00that it's yet another instance of Shohei Otani being swept up
- 50:05in a, a multi $1,000,000 scandal.
- 50:08And I feel like it would probably, you know, I, I, I keep
- 50:11seeing this, this, this comment in the, in the replies on social
- 50:16where it's like, if I had a nickel for every time this
- 50:19happened, I'd only have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but
- 50:23it's weird that it's happened twice.
- 50:25And that's kind of how I feel about this whole show.
- 50:28Hey, situation where it's like how many, how many multi
- 50:31$1,000,000 scandals does it take before you step back and blank?
- 50:36Maybe we should lay low for a minute.
- 50:39I got the George. W quote spinning in my head the
- 50:42Fool me once shame on shame on me, fool me twice Can't be
- 50:50fooled again Can't be fooled again I.
- 50:57Can't get fooled again. I don't know, man.
- 51:00I don't know what's happening. I don't know what's going on.
- 51:02I mean, I look, it just kind of shows like how hard it is to be
- 51:08like a superstar and remain unscathed.
- 51:12I feel like there's scandals surrounding every celebrity and
- 51:19I think there's few athletes that cross into that echelon of
- 51:24I'm also a celebrity because of how good I am.
- 51:28You know what I mean? Like, for example, Mike Trout
- 51:31was the face of baseball for us for a, a a long while, but like,
- 51:36did everyone in the world know who he was?
- 51:38No, you know what I mean? Like there's few like LeBron
- 51:42James is like he's crossed in that Kobe Bryant.
- 51:45These are Michael Jordan. These are names that like cross
- 51:47into celebrity status. So I mean, it's, it's all eyes
- 51:55all the time. It's tough, man.
- 51:58I don't know. Yeah, but I get, I agree with
- 52:02you. I, I I'm with you on that.
- 52:04But I mean, I'm, I'm up the camp to like normally where there's
- 52:07smoke. There's fire.
- 52:13So like a duck talks like a duck.
- 52:17What I'm, what I'm saying though, is you're, you're
- 52:21saying, well, it goes to show you how hard it is to be a
- 52:26superstar and, and stay unscathed.
- 52:28I feel like in that, which again, I agree with you, but in
- 52:31that scenario, the individual in question is making a concerted
- 52:37effort to sort of stay out like to the best of their abilities
- 52:41to stay out of the, the limelight, at least off the.
- 52:45Field seems like he does because he's never showing his face
- 52:49anywhere. His teammates never see him.
- 52:51Outside, yeah, because he's got his, he's got his little hench
- 52:54men doing his dirty work like I like.
- 52:57Again, be he could It's possible that he's innocent in this
- 53:01situation and he just got swept up in a bad deal.
- 53:04Who's to really say? But how many more?
- 53:06Again? How many more multi $1,000,000
- 53:08scandals is it going to take before we go, you know, maybe
- 53:12show hey is not the guy we thought he was?
- 53:14It's fair is like Ronaldo or Messi.
- 53:18Have they ever been in any scandals?
- 53:20I'm not a big football guy, but I'm not sure if because I mean
- 53:24like talk about like known around the world.
- 53:28Those guys are known. They.
- 53:30Are they are? Streets and the whole city shuts
- 53:33down. They are, but they still walk
- 53:36around. I likewise.
- 53:38I'm not a big football guy, but from what I can gather, or from
- 53:44what I have gathered, both seem to be pretty upstanding
- 53:49gentlemen. I could be wrong.
- 53:51I feel like Ronaldo kind of gives me the ick.
- 53:53I don't know. You're a little little, you're a
- 53:56little sketchy. I don't know why I can't explain
- 53:58it. Messy, yeah, I think Messi is
- 54:02definitely like on the if we're if we're putting them on a
- 54:04scale, I think Messi is definitely like the hey, I would
- 54:07I would, I'd get a lunch with that guy.
- 54:10Not that I wouldn't get a, not that I wouldn't get a lunch with
- 54:13with Ronaldo, but yeah, it's different.
- 54:18But. Yeah, I mean, this whole tiny
- 54:20thing is just a mess like I don't.
- 54:24Trying to get trying to get Hawaii back on the map.
- 54:27You know, they just keep taking blows.
- 54:29Crazy man, don't be. Don't be messing with Hawaii
- 54:34folks. Just just just leave them be.
- 54:38I agree. Speaking of.
- 54:41But I agree. Speaking of blows, let's let's
- 54:45get going with the return of the it's been what, two or three
- 54:50weeks? Return of the Mac.
- 54:52It has been a while. It's been a minute because I
- 54:54didn't do it when I was at the beach because because I don't
- 55:03know why I didn't do it. Well, maybe it's because that's
- 55:06at the beach. I just didn't think to pull pull
- 55:08some names together. However, leading us off here,
- 55:13Shay Banglears over the last 15 days coming into the day
- 55:18Wednesday hitting 411 with 7 homers, 11 ribbies and an OPS of
- 55:2613 O 7. No player in baseball has a
- 55:30high. According to MLB Deadline News
- 55:31on Twitter, no player in baseball has a higher F4 since
- 55:34the All Star break than Shay Langelier's also is tied for the
- 55:43most Homer since the break with none other than Kyle Schwarber.
- 55:48Good company. Kyle Schwarber been on a tear of
- 55:52his own. Next up, George Kirby.
- 56:01Why do I think that? Is this his debut for the credit
- 56:03cannon? George.
- 56:05Yeah, probably. It might be think we've got, I
- 56:08think I've got Brian Wu on here before, but I don't, I don't
- 56:13recall if I've had George Kirby on here.
- 56:15George Kirby's last four starts 7 innings, 0 earned runs, seven
- 56:22KS and a win 6 innings 2 earned runs, nine KS and a win. 6
- 56:27innings, 0 earned runs, six KS and a win. 6 innings, 2 earned
- 56:32runs, nine KS and a win. George Kirby say to say he's
- 56:41back, and this is huge for a Mariners team that is on an 8
- 56:49game-winning streak as of right now.
- 56:51Yo, that's this is just this is a team I do not want to deal
- 56:54with in the post season. Well, can I completely, I
- 56:57realize now that we didn't even we completely skipped over that
- 57:00because we were, I was talking about the Brewers so much and I
- 57:03just had so many follow up points to the Brewers.
- 57:05Can we talk about that real quick?
- 57:08I feel like you wrote the Mariners off.
- 57:16Well, I mean, if you're having me put my hand up.
- 57:18I'm no because I don't remember it.
- 57:21No, that's yeah, no, that that's fine.
- 57:24Yeah, no, that's cool. No, but they, the Mariners have
- 57:27caught up to the Astros coming in today, both tied atop the
- 57:32American League West. Again, Mariners ride an 8
- 57:35game-winning streak coming into the day, trail the Astros by as
- 57:39many as seven games early last month, but are now are now.
- 57:50This this. Controlling their own destiny.
- 57:52They're like if they go wild card and they work their way
- 57:56through the wild card, like you still have to worry about
- 58:01dealing with their pitching staff when they get to the
- 58:03division series. You know what I mean?
- 58:05Like this is a team where like if they can get momentum and get
- 58:10through a wild card round, look out because the way that
- 58:14rotation would set up in the ALDS would be like, OK, now
- 58:18you're getting like Logan Gilbert game three potential,
- 58:21you know what I mean? Like it flips over and you're
- 58:24like, I'm dealing with an ace in the middle of this thing.
- 58:27Could get scary. Now they got some some pop in
- 58:30the lineup, too. Coming into today, 23 and 13
- 58:35since the 1st of July have actually jumped up to 3rd on
- 58:44draft draftking odds to win the World Series.
- 58:48Good deadline as well. Well, tie.
- 58:52That's a little misleading. They're tied for third with like
- 58:55three other teams. Yeah, still tied for third.
- 59:04Real quick, I just had this thought.
- 59:06What would your reaction be it? Let's just say you were in a
- 59:11coma and you just woke up and I said, Nate, you're never going
- 59:18to believe this, but the 2025 World Series features the
- 59:24Mariners and the Padres. What would your gut reaction be
- 59:27to that? That's nice.
- 59:31Are you, are you feeling that or I'm?
- 59:33Feeling that a little bit. I'm feeling that a little bit.
- 59:36That's nice. I I think I could come around on
- 59:39that too. Yeah, I think I could.
- 59:45I think I could. I wouldn't.
- 59:47I would. I would want to.
- 59:49I would want, yeah. I mean the AL, I don't know.
- 59:55It's hard to say that the Tigers would be more exciting than the
- 1:00:00Mariners. No disrespect.
- 1:00:06Yeah. But like, cold baseball in
- 1:00:09Detroit for a World Series is kind of cool.
- 1:00:13We seen that recently, not recently, but in the past.
- 1:00:18Feel like it gets kind of cold in Seattle too, so I guess
- 1:00:20that'll work. But they got the roof.
- 1:00:23I need cold weather. It's my rule.
- 1:00:27I would. Actually, I can't say what I
- 1:00:29would do if if they close the roof, they would.
- 1:00:34It wouldn't be, it wouldn't be good.
- 1:00:35I wouldn't be happy. Yeah, you would have no mock
- 1:00:39turtlenecks. None.
- 1:00:42Such a loser move. I don't know none.
- 1:00:47But yeah, the last thing about the Mariners is, and we've said
- 1:00:50it on here before, our biggest hang up was their lack of
- 1:00:53offense. But they have seemingly fixed
- 1:00:54that. So you combine that with what
- 1:00:56they're doing on the bump. Yeah, I, I could he's, I could
- 1:01:00talk myself into it. Having having the M's in the
- 1:01:04series. I like that.
- 1:01:08I'm with you. As it pertains to the American
- 1:01:10League West, though, you still riding Strohs.
- 1:01:18I don't know, it's hard to say. Feel like the Mariners had a
- 1:01:21better day? Now here, let's here's a here's
- 1:01:24an exercise for you. Let's let's say, let's just
- 1:01:28label the Astros as the favorites, the favorites in the
- 1:01:33clubhouse, and the Dodgers the favorites in the clubhouse.
- 1:01:36You can only pick one of those to win their respective division
- 1:01:41and the other has to finish second.
- 1:01:45Which team are you picking to win their division?
- 1:01:49Astros. Which means you'd have the
- 1:01:52Padres winning the West. Because I think that the
- 1:02:00Mariners could survive the wild card round and I don't think the
- 1:02:04Dodgers could. So I'm just going with my heart.
- 1:02:10Beautiful. I love that.
- 1:02:12Yeah, I love it. Going with my heart.
- 1:02:18My team sucks so I'm just going for vibes at this point.
- 1:02:21You I hate credits you, man. It seems like you're you're sort
- 1:02:27of up for sale here as it pertains to like your fandom
- 1:02:30coming into September down to stretch shocked up, which is
- 1:02:34crazy again. What I mean, what are we really?
- 1:02:37You talk about a whiny, spoiled fanbase.
- 1:02:40You still hold the postseason spot as it sits right now.
- 1:02:44So I don't know why you're why you're complaining.
- 1:02:47Like I said, eventually, I'm focused on fantasy football
- 1:02:53right now. All right, I'm going to clip
- 1:02:56this and I'm going to I'm going to be sure to play this if the
- 1:02:59if the Yanks go on a little bit of a run, don't count on it.
- 1:03:02But if for whatever reason they do, I'm going to clip this so
- 1:03:06that when they go on a little bit of a run, I'm going to say,
- 1:03:10Nate, you're going to turn your TV off and focus up on fantasy
- 1:03:14football. Yeah, I like that.
- 1:03:21This team has you so messed up in the head right now.
- 1:03:24I'm, I'm, I'm psychotic at this point.
- 1:03:27Like I'm in the loony bin. It's scary.
- 1:03:30Physically I'm not there mentally, I'm in the loony bin.
- 1:03:33I get, I get pills on the tray next to my mashed potatoes and
- 1:03:37bread roll. That's.
- 1:03:41Oh, this is getting. This is getting dark real quick.
- 1:03:44Speaking of scary, you know who else has been scary?
- 1:03:48Brandon Woodruff this this has to be a debut.
- 1:03:53He's only made six starts, but in those six starts since his
- 1:03:57return, he's gone 4 and O with an ERA of 229 with 45
- 1:04:02strikeouts. He's tallied 8 plus KS and four
- 1:04:05out of those six starts. Your guy Justin Havens on
- 1:04:09Twitter. Well, he actually, he he started
- 1:04:14today for the Brew Crew, I believe.
- 1:04:16Obviously they got the win, so sort of outdated, but this was
- 1:04:20prior to today's game, said Brandon Woodruff on the bump
- 1:04:23this afternoon, who made his season debut on July 6th.
- 1:04:26Of the 79 qualified pitcher since July 6th, Woodruff's
- 1:04:29strikeout rate, which is 34.9%, is tied for the third highest
- 1:04:33behind Dylan Sees or behind Dylan Sees and Tarek Schuble,
- 1:04:38and tied with Zach Wheeler. It's good company.
- 1:04:41Rather. Side note, Dylan sees kind of
- 1:04:44turned it on a little bit. Kind of feeling the pods.
- 1:04:49Not quite cannon worthy yet, but maybe.
- 1:04:52No, no, I mean that I don't. I just don't throw.
- 1:04:55I don't throw the the cannon around.
- 1:04:58You don't aimlessly like you don't like.
- 1:05:00You got to got to do something to get in.
- 1:05:04You you just can't doing that. Gavin Williams Gavin Williams is
- 1:05:122 and O with an ERA of 1/3 O and 28 strikeouts and four starts
- 1:05:17over the last month. And again, this was coming into
- 1:05:19today. I think he made a start this
- 1:05:21afternoon for the the guards. He actually, excuse me, I don't
- 1:05:28even think we talked about it. He he took a no hitter through 8
- 1:05:31and a third versus the Mets on what was that August 6th.
- 1:05:35So it was like a week ago, his last start before today.
- 1:05:41So good on Gavin Williams for being a.
- 1:05:46A. Somewhat of a bright spot for
- 1:05:50the guards who are how they, how they been playing how the guards
- 1:05:55been playing seven and three in the last 10 drop today right in
- 1:06:03the wild card. Is it where seasons seasons are
- 1:06:06one and lost? You know what I mean?
- 1:06:09Guards are the first team out right now.
- 1:06:11They're they're only game and a half out of your your Yanks.
- 1:06:17I know. Don't sleep on the guards.
- 1:06:22I didn't. I was the only one who picked
- 1:06:24the guards. Everyone was out on the guards
- 1:06:26pre season. I was the one.
- 1:06:29I'm the one fan. You're mistaken, actually.
- 1:06:37No, you are. You are correct.
- 1:06:39I had the Royals one in the central, so you are correct.
- 1:06:46And lastly here, you know him, you love him.
- 1:07:00Peter Alonso saved him for last. Hey look, we take our shots at
- 1:07:07Peter. Pretty cool.
- 1:07:09Pretty cool feat for for Peter. For young Peter though, is now
- 1:07:14the all time leader in home runs in Mets history.
- 1:07:18His I think he he hit 253 and 254 in the same game if I'm not
- 1:07:24mistaken. But his 253rd I know you don't
- 1:07:28care. The 253rd career Homer broke his
- 1:07:31tie with Darryl Strawberry, so Peter sits atop the record books
- 1:07:37for the New York Mets. So wanted to give a little want
- 1:07:39to shine a little light on that. I don't want to hear any Met
- 1:07:42fans cheering for him. He didn't want them.
- 1:07:46Did you see the Mad Dog take when he was on MOV Now or ESPN?
- 1:07:49I I was. Teeing off on him, I saw he.
- 1:07:52He was going off on something. What did he say?
- 1:07:54He. Was just like he begged to come
- 1:07:57back. Why are you guys like, you guys
- 1:07:59can't be all in his camp now like.
- 1:08:01He he, he begged. Him to be there well and he's
- 1:08:04like what kind of no one talked about that record before now.
- 1:08:07So it's like, what are we talking about?
- 1:08:09Well. And I can't believe I'm
- 1:08:12defending Mets fans here, but. Who would have guessed?
- 1:08:15No respect. Solid career obviously, but who
- 1:08:21would have guessed Daryl Strawberry was that was leading
- 1:08:22that list? That's what I'm saying.
- 1:08:24They're pretty pretty, you know, the Mets have have been a joke
- 1:08:28for at at certain points, obviously, but All in all,
- 1:08:31somewhat of a prestigious franchise and to think that.
- 1:08:35Thought there would be a. Peter Alonso's now the guy this
- 1:08:38early. Yeah.
- 1:08:42No, but what I was saying is in defensive Mets fans, they're not
- 1:08:47the ones with the checkbook. You know?
- 1:08:49Like, I'm sure there were a lot of Mets fans that did want
- 1:08:52Peter. Maybe not though.
- 1:08:58He's just corny. The tip the the helmet tip of
- 1:09:01the cap just. Oh, OK.
- 1:09:05The guy's such a weenie. He's a weenie, but he's he's the
- 1:09:09Mets weenie. And nothing seems to, nothing's
- 1:09:13going to be changing about that anytime soon, it seems, because
- 1:09:17he's going to retire before he plays for another team.
- 1:09:19I think. I think we know this.
- 1:09:22He will. He will retire well before he
- 1:09:29should if asked to play for another team.
- 1:09:35I can see that. I could absolutely see that.
- 1:09:37So tip of the cap, tip of the helmet to Peter Alonso.
- 1:09:41That's all I got, my friend. You got anything else for the
- 1:09:43folks? Nope, stay away from Subway.
- 1:09:48Well stay away from the subways that are like the only food
- 1:09:53option in town that's. Yeah.
- 1:09:55That's when you get in trouble. Your boy was on the road today,
- 1:09:59travelling up near the Grand Canyon.
- 1:10:03There was a there was a subway that's connected to a Love's gas
- 1:10:06station. The subway was attached to a gas
- 1:10:09station, too. Yes, Subway and Carl's Junior
- 1:10:13were right next to each other in the Love's gas station.
- 1:10:16You told me that Carl's junior was attached to the gas station,
- 1:10:19which is why you went to the subway.
- 1:10:22No, I was standing. They were right next to each
- 1:10:24other. They share the fountain drink.
- 1:10:27That's crazy. Could get your fountain drink
- 1:10:31for both sides, yeah. No chance you don't have food
- 1:10:35poisoning that flares up tomorrow.
- 1:10:37No chance. I was standing in front of the
- 1:10:39menu at Carl's Junior and I'm just like, I haven't been here
- 1:10:42in a while, but like, I just, I'm not 18 anymore, you know
- 1:10:47what I mean? Like, I can't.
- 1:10:48You have onion rings and like mozzarella sticks on your
- 1:10:52burgers. Like I just, I can't.
- 1:10:59I can't pull trigger on that. I got to go to Subway and I
- 1:11:04regret it. I regret all my decisions.
- 1:11:06I should have. I should have just gone like
- 1:11:07through the Loves gas station and got like a bag of Doritos or
- 1:11:10something. But.
- 1:11:14Michael said there's one in Searcy, AR.
- 1:11:17Yeah, that get old Searcy. I'm guessing that the subway,
- 1:11:22the single subway that's in Searcy, AR No disrespect, maybe
- 1:11:26they're probably good people, but.
- 1:11:28They didn't even have the. Probably some foodborne.
- 1:11:31Illnesses there. What's the the Rosemary bread?
- 1:11:34They didn't even have that as an option.
- 1:11:36It was whiter wheat. That's all we got here.
- 1:11:40I mean, who's really venturing outside, white or wheat at
- 1:11:42Subway? Oh, Rosemary.
- 1:11:43The Rosemary one was the one that hit.
- 1:11:45I don't remember what it was. It was like garlic in Rosemary
- 1:11:48or something. I don't know, let me.
- 1:11:49Rephrase who's who's really expecting options beyond white
- 1:11:55or wheat at a gas station subway?
- 1:11:57They've really dumped a ton of money into their marketing
- 1:12:01recently. There's a lot like over the last
- 1:12:04like 5-6 years there's just been a lot of big names.
- 1:12:08Speaking for Subway, the menu looks a little different.
- 1:12:13Just didn't deliver. I almost pulled trigger on the
- 1:12:16the cookie too. Isn't that like glass tray by
- 1:12:19the cashier? Now that never fails you.
- 1:12:22I don't need it. I don't need it and I said no.
- 1:12:26I would venture at even a gas station subway in the middle of
- 1:12:29nowhere. Those probably still hit, so I
- 1:12:31wouldn't have faulted you for that, but yeah.
- 1:12:33Would you get tuna? Did you get like tuna on your
- 1:12:36sandwich? No, I got a cheese steak.
- 1:12:38Just a terrible idea. Terrible.
- 1:12:41I wanted a hot sandwich and I was just like, I regret it.
- 1:12:46I regret it all. That's a that's a look of regret
- 1:12:51right there. That's that was it was six hours
- 1:12:56ago and I I can't even think about eating.
- 1:12:59I might have a bowl of cereal for dinner, like I said.
- 1:13:04I feel for you man. Let me know.
- 1:13:06People check in on Nate tomorrow, make sure he's doing
- 1:13:09all right. I know my boss comes into town
- 1:13:11and spending the whole day with him tomorrow, which is not good
- 1:13:14and you're. Going to have you're going to
- 1:13:16have food poisoning on top of it.
- 1:13:18Roll the windows down. By the way, real quick before we
- 1:13:22go leave a little parting story here for you folks to to really
- 1:13:27enjoy. Somebody apparently like threw
- 1:13:30open our trash can yesterday. Like we leave the bin out front
- 1:13:34for pick up on Monday nights and they pick it up Tuesday morning.
- 1:13:38Oh, yours not at not like a work thing is your personal.
- 1:13:42No, no, no, Like at our house, we leave the bin, there's like a
- 1:13:45little, little grass patch. All the all the neighbors sort
- 1:13:48of drop their bins off and. They chose yours.
- 1:13:51Meredith gets home from work and she's I, I get home shortly
- 1:13:55after her and she's like pulling the hose out with a trash can
- 1:13:58upside down. I'm like, what is, what are you
- 1:14:00doing? And she's like, yeah, somebody
- 1:14:02you threw up in our trash can. And I was trying to figure out.
- 1:14:06Hooked in the sun all. Day, dude, it was corn and there
- 1:14:11was corn in there. No.
- 1:14:15What? Who does that, man?
- 1:14:18If you're listening, if you're watching and you have to toss
- 1:14:21your lunch, don't do it in somebody's.
- 1:14:24Trash bin Just do it in the grass.
- 1:14:26Just do it in the grass and and then cover it up or something.
- 1:14:30Don't throw up in somebody. Like if you're going to throw up
- 1:14:32in the trash bin, throw up in your own trash bin.
- 1:14:35What a. Yeah.
- 1:14:36PSA don't throw up in people's trash cans you don't like.
- 1:14:39Live on the streets of like a inner city either like I don't
- 1:14:43understand, like you're in a neighborhood that's such a wild.
- 1:14:47It's crazy. Could have been the corn, sausa,
- 1:14:50Chipotle. They always have some type type
- 1:14:53of poisoning going on, don't they?
- 1:14:56It's possible, man, that are they.
- 1:14:58Throwing some brands under the bus today aren't.
- 1:15:00We there was no question that it was corn.
- 1:15:03Any who's that's all I've got. You got anything else?
- 1:15:06Good stuff, good stuff. Well, clearly your neighbor
- 1:15:09doesn't listen to this advice, but don't go chasing curveballs.
- 1:15:13We love you all as always. Looking forward to talking more
- 1:15:14baseball with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
