- 0:24Welcome inside the Treehouse Football Podcast. And when I say welcome, I mean
- 0:30you the Treehouse listener are welcome. I Daniel Maley, Trey Trendholm, Raj
- 0:36Sharma, We are all welcome. If you are a player or a coach
- 0:44with the Dallas Cowboys, you were not welcome this week. Actually, I
- 0:48take it back. I would love to have any number of you in the
- 0:51Treehouse to explain yourselves for what has to be the worst loss in recent Cowboys
- 1:00memory. And I have racked my brain. I've even done some googling because
- 1:08my brain doesn't work well enough on its own, and I have not found
- 1:15a game where the Cowboys got bounced early, earlier than they quote unquote should
- 1:22have been that makes me feel worse than this one does. Now, I
- 1:26understand recency bias. Yes this game just happened. Yes it's sometime later,
- 1:33but I'm still pissed. And this game is the most recent example of them
- 1:37just bumble fucking their way through the postseason. But I really tried to look
- 1:45at it from an objectionable standpoint, and I cannot find a recent playoff loss
- 1:49that feels as bad as this one does. How do you feel the only
- 1:56loss in recent memory that I can think of. In yeah, I think
- 2:00I said this to you in the text of the Last game, the Last
- 2:05Yeah, the last game at Texas Stadium, when Baltimore whipped their ass like
- 2:08it was like fifty four to six or some something ridiculous. That's the only
- 2:13other time in recent memory that I mean the NFC Championship loss in ninety five
- 2:21when Barry Switzer was a jackass. That one Baltimore, And but this one
- 2:29takes the cake as far as I'm concerned. So I, Raj, how
- 2:31about you? I had I had tickets to that game. One of my
- 2:38friends is a player, and he's like, I got tickets for you.
- 2:40But I was in a car wreck December nineteenth, I think we all know.
- 2:45And my MRI was scheduled, and you were, Raj, not not
- 2:47the Cowboy player. Yes, because because if the entire team was in a
- 2:52wreck before the game, at least that might be a viable excuse. But
- 2:58they scheduled my MRI on that Sunday, And I was like, I wonder
- 3:01why that is. It's obvious because it's playoff game. Nobody was going to
- 3:05be there, so they had to be open. They were scheduled. I
- 3:07went. Guy was like, you know, thanks coming. I was like,
- 3:10I had tickets to the game. He's like, oh, man,
- 3:12you should have gone. And I was like, damnit, man, I
- 3:14should have gone. And then so I missed the first twenty minutes. So
- 3:17did the Cowboys. Yeah, because I got home and I saw the score
- 3:23and I was like, man, I am and it's freezing, and I
- 3:27was like, I'm glad I'm not at this game, and I'm like,
- 3:29you know, there's a lot of ballgame left. And right then, right
- 3:31as I said that, I believe that's when the pick six happened. I
- 3:35was like, oh, yeah, now it's done. Now yeah done,
- 3:38what's over? So, adding an additional insult to injury, forty nine Ers
- 3:46head coach Shanahan said that they started preparing for the Packers right around that time
- 3:54as well, so even everyone else in the league watching that game, as
- 3:59well as all of us fans, as soon as that pick six happened,
- 4:02we all felt it. We all felt the disturbance. We all knew it
- 4:06they're done. And even before the pick six, we all kind of knew
- 4:12that they probably wouldn't come back because this Cowboys team does not deal well with
- 4:16adversity. They do not deal well with things that don't go their way from
- 4:21the start. Yeah. But the fact that another coach on another team said
- 4:28it two of the media, Yeah, oh what a what an absolute nut
- 4:31punch. I have this question, and I maybe it's because there is the
- 4:38hope that you can have a comeback with that twenty seven I think it was
- 4:41twenty seven nothing at one point. It was twenty seven to seven at halftime.
- 4:46Yeah, because they scored that last one right before the half. Yeah,
- 4:48even though there was an off sides of the guy. I mean,
- 4:51I mean, obviously mat before had the right to lose his mind because it
- 4:57was offsides on the Covils, but they didn't see it. Oh why not
- 5:00put in because Ceedee lamb wasn't I mean that first half he looked lost.
- 5:06We can all agree on that. Why not why not pull him out and
- 5:11go you're not you're not contributing. So let's put in whoever's behind Cede lamb
- 5:15Uh. And then at that point in the third takeout back and go Cooper
- 5:19Rush, Let's see what you can do. At this point, the game's
- 5:21lost, so you might as well just see what somebody else can do right.
- 5:26I mean that would be my theory. Well, we all make the
- 5:29assumption that Cede Lamb was running the wrong routes. Dak could have been making
- 5:34the wrong reads, and I would like to point out I think it was
- 5:39probably a little from column A and a little from Colum B because on one
- 5:42misque that they had, CD's running a slant YEA, and Dak doesn't throw
- 5:48the slant, and you see the camera go to Dak close up and you
- 5:51can see Dak say, that's supposed to be a stop meaning that's supposed to
- 5:56be a stop route. It's like a quick hit. You come right back
- 5:59from where you not slant inside. And so from that perspective, Dak's ball
- 6:03was where it was supposed to be. We're assuming there that Dak is correct.
- 6:09Usually the quarterback knows the route more so what it's supposed to be than
- 6:13the wide receiver. But that's just one play. There were plenty of other
- 6:16throws in that game where Dak had no like he was he was not on
- 6:20target or didn't see the pick six. My god, that looks like a
- 6:26rookie throw. I couldn't even believe that. I'm like, how are you?
- 6:29You know? That that linebacker is going to drop. I don't make
- 6:32that throw in Madden. And even beyond that pick, like when he was
- 6:39just trying to get rid of the ball, he nearly threw an interception because
- 6:43he like pitched it. He didn't even throw it, he pitched it to
- 6:46the Green Bay linebacker. Yeah, that was in the second half, I
- 6:48think, either late in the third, late in the third, early in
- 6:51the fourth, when they were attempting some sort of a comeback. So let's
- 6:56look at that real quick, so we can I ask one quick question.
- 7:00Did any of y'all actually really heart of hearts, even after the first quarter,
- 7:04really think they were going to come back? Because I didn't. I
- 7:08had the same vibe that I did when they played they were getting their asshipped
- 7:11in Arizona, which was after the first quarter, like this game's lost.
- 7:15So that's what they say. There was nothing about their demeanor, actions,
- 7:18anything that I thought they were coming back. That's exactly So that was my
- 7:21in my head, I'm like, why why are we still Why is the
- 7:25same first team going out If they can't produce, Let's have the other millionaires,
- 7:30the less are higher salaried millionaires behind them go out. And see what
- 7:34they can do and prove that maybe they have what it takes, because these
- 7:38guys did not. It was just terrible to watch and it was just so
- 7:43soul destroying. I remember after the half we went to quarter bar in Addison
- 7:47and it's the quietest I've ever heard that bar. It was just sad,
- 7:54and at some point I just started laughing. I'm like, this is the
- 7:56saddest bar I've been to this So this is where I go back to the
- 8:01original question of is this the worst loss in recent memory for the Cowboys.
- 8:07To me, it absolutely is one, because it was a playoff game that
- 8:11they quote Unquoich should have won. But the reason why to me it's the
- 8:18worst is because it's another example from this season that it appeared they either didn't
- 8:26show up at all or kind of like what happened in Buffalo, kind of
- 8:31like what happened with San Francisco earlier this year, similar to what happened with
- 8:35Arizona. They got punched in the mouth at the beginning of the game and
- 8:39they didn't know how to respond. It's like I talked about earlier this season
- 8:43on this show, Wide Mouth Dak. Whenever Dak has the wide mouth and
- 8:48the eyes. It looks like someone just bocked him on the nose with a
- 8:50newspaper because he just pittled on the rug and he's got that look on his
- 8:56face like, oh, but oh what happened. Yeah, whenever he's got
- 9:01that look on his face, the Cowboys are hosed because if if he can't
- 9:05pull it together and then my god. So it's like they didn't show up
- 9:11and because things didn't go their way from the beginning, they didn't know how
- 9:15to respond. That's why all of us felt how the way the game started,
- 9:18none of us felt confident in their ability to come back. Did they
- 9:22make it interesting ish in the second half by throwing up, you know,
- 9:26thirty two points by the end of it, Yeah, but they still lost
- 9:31by sixteen. So the final score of forty eight to thirty two is somewhat
- 9:35deceiving. But the reality of it is Green Bay had won that game so
- 9:41early on that in the second half they're playing completely differently. They're going to
- 9:45give up Cowboys trash touchdowns. They don't care because they know they're going to
- 9:50the next round and yeah, look, we should have done. So it's
- 9:58the same thing when I saw that I'm like they're giving the letting them at
- 10:01that point, they were just like, man, we can't beat them this
- 10:03bad, so you know, give them a couple I and then you really
- 10:07go back and begs the question of Dak Prescott was a two time first team
- 10:16All SEC quarterback, has the size, strength, arm, all of it.
- 10:26Why was he you know, we talk about cow was drafted him in
- 10:31the third round and like what a great deal. But he had he was
- 10:35in third and fourth round on everyone's board. Why is it because he shrinks
- 10:39in the big moments, Because that really does seem like to be the big
- 10:43knock on him because otherwise, you know, numbers wise, everything else.
- 10:48I mean, you want to talk about numbers wise. I mean Tony Romo
- 10:50had one of the best quarterback ratings in NFL history for a quarterback. Tony
- 10:52Romo was a better quarterback than people ever gave him credit for. Yeah,
- 10:56but it goes back to what it goes back to what I always say.
- 10:58It's there's an it fact, there's a there's a motive. Oh sorry,
- 11:03cats are having a fight. Turns out my cats have more fight than the
- 11:07Cowboys. But it is it's that it factor, like there should have been
- 11:11that fire when it shouldn't have been, Like, hey see, that was
- 11:15supposed to be a stop per umph that you need to get You need to
- 11:20get in people's asses. If you're the leader for saying that, I was
- 11:24feeling it, rise, I was feeling that you need to get in that
- 11:26ass. So I appreciate you. Yeah. Yeah, I mean if you're
- 11:28the leader of that, if you're the leader of that team and you're the
- 11:31guy who's gonna drive them down the field, and you're gonna drive them to
- 11:33take them down to the super Bowl, then you need to get up somebody's
- 11:37ass immediately otherwise. I mean that Tony Romano did that. Every time he
- 11:41threw an interception. He would just slap that knee, and I hated it.
- 11:43Every fucking time he did it. I'm like, there's no oh man,
- 11:48well shit next time. And then he would just trot off to the
- 11:50sidelines. He would do that, and that also drove me crazy, but
- 11:54at least somewhat of a redeeming quality of his screw ups like that, Yeah,
- 12:01he would still in the Buffalo game, I always go back to this.
- 12:03He throws five interceptions and he still marches the team down to win the
- 12:07damn game, whereas Dak throws one that got it. When he does,
- 12:16he gets locked up and then just nothing. The difference in my in my
- 12:22mind is Tony Romo had that Brett Farv gunslinger mentality of it. Didn't matter
- 12:28how many interceptions he threw, he was still going to go out there and
- 12:31do it again, and nine times out of t end he was probably going
- 12:35to be successful. Dak throws that one interception and it seems like he's just
- 12:41mentally he doesn't have He wants to be a gunslinger, but he doesn't have
- 12:45the mentality he'd start. It's like he starts questioning his own existence. Yes,
- 12:48it's it's like, this is what it is. Dak Prescott appears to
- 12:52suffer from imposter syndrome M and for those that don't know, that's where,
- 12:58uh, you feel like wherever you are you don't belong and that people are
- 13:03going to see you as the fraud that you think you are or might be.
- 13:09I'm not sure if that's exactly the textbook definition of it, but you
- 13:13kind of get the idea. And that seems to be sort of what happens
- 13:18when he plays. When things are good, things are good, when things
- 13:22are bad, he gets in a hole and he can't dig himself out of
- 13:26it. And that's where I go back to the problem of coaching. As
- 13:31the time that we are talking about this, at the time of this recording,
- 13:35Mike McCarthy still has a job, and in our group chat, the
- 13:41three of us had him fired before he could leave the stadium Trey in a
- 13:46much more violent and non politically correct fashion that we should not share publicly.
- 13:50No, but trust us. Raj and I both go ooh. All I
- 13:56said was Valet should just lose his car and make him uber home. Uh.
- 14:01Trays ended in some like a fiery crash. Well, had they been
- 14:07to the away team, Yeah, still yeah, but as it is,
- 14:13McCarthy still got a job. Jamee Slater from NFL Network is saying that there's
- 14:16nuances to it that they're trying to figure out and are they gonna you know,
- 14:22and I'm not sure what the nuances. It's like, you know,
- 14:24because Dak's got a year and McCarthy's got a year and they're looking at it.
- 14:28Well, it was there. They were really successful. Well yeah,
- 14:31but they were successful in the way that all recent Cowboys teams have been successful,
- 14:35which is successful in the regular season, and they take a big steaming
- 14:39dump in the playoffs. Michael Ovan went as far as saying, to uh,
- 14:45just clean house. That was the latest thing. He just wouldn't said
- 14:48just clean, just clean house, just start over again. And that just
- 14:52means for Cowboys fans, it's gonna be all rebuilt. So it's gonna be
- 14:54a terrible next season, and then that's okay. We are okay with that,
- 15:00honest to god. Like I was having a conversation at the bar Arrows
- 15:03watching the game and with a Cleveland Browns fan, two Cleveland Browns fans,
- 15:09and they were both saying, sorry, we feel your pain, and I
- 15:11was like, no, you don't. You got used to in non stop
- 15:16losing, So your expectations were low to begin with. Yeah, Cowboys fans
- 15:22of our age group still remember the nineties, and so our expectations are high
- 15:28and we can tolerate multiple seasons of sucking as long as we know it's going
- 15:37somewhere. What this current influx of Cowboys is doing and what they did during
- 15:41the Romo years, is they're good enough to keep us interested. They're good
- 15:46enough to sell a bunch of merch. But they're not good enough to do
- 15:50even once what the teams of the nineties or the seventies did. And that's
- 15:54what's so frustrating is and while other fan bases like the Brown fans can't quite
- 16:00relate to it, because yeah, you lost your game the day before,
- 16:04we lost our game, and so we both feel badly. But because our
- 16:08expectations are higher, we demand more. Therefore we come crashing down more.
- 16:15But you know what, this is what's really sad. And I have really
- 16:21started breaking down my fandom with the Cowboys. Why do we have any expectations?
- 16:26Because if we're being honest, outside of the seventies, eighties mediocre at
- 16:33best, you have a six year window of the nineties. And this is
- 16:41the really key part of this. It was pre salary cap. Jerry could
- 16:45money whip a team. M you could still cut people. You didn't,
- 16:48you know Jimmy Johnson, that's where you know he because he would cut anyone.
- 16:52He didn't give up two shits. But after that, it's been nothing
- 16:57but mediocrity and suck. Yeah, why do we expect anything less? You
- 17:03know? And Dak at that press conference when he came out, he just
- 17:06came out and went sucked. Yeah, correct, Thanks, We didn't need
- 17:10a press conference for you to tell us that. And then I heard this,
- 17:12and I don't know if you guys heard the same thing, but he
- 17:15said, if you get rid of McCarthy, that should get rid of him
- 17:17as well. And he went as far as to say that. And I'm
- 17:19like, that is that an offer? Because that sounds great? Uh,
- 17:23you know what I mean, we still have there's a lot of there's a
- 17:26lot of interest in other quarterbacks out there. There's a lot of interest in
- 17:30Belichick. I know that. Apparently there was already a phone call between the
- 17:34crypt keeper and Bill Belichick. So I don't see that. I just I
- 17:41don't. I don't either. I don't either. And and that's and that's
- 17:42a whole separate conversation as far as uh that that we can get into today.
- 17:48Yeah, but it's there's so many different angles to touch on with this
- 17:53game because it with a loss like this, it opens up Pandora's box for
- 18:00all of our whining and bitching and moaning, which is all justified. It's
- 18:06all justified. Maybe they get Jerry, they give they get Jimmy Johnson.
- 18:11By you know what, Raj, I'm Glad you mentioned that, because I've
- 18:15got an idea that I'm going to share with you coming back next All right,
- 18:25you're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us online at Treehouse on Air dot

- 18:53Welcome back inside the Treehouse Football Podcast where we're all properly pissed off.
- 18:59And at halftime, the Cowboys were down twenty seven to seven, and they
- 19:06got, as far as I know, they got the best motivational speech that
- 19:11they've had all year. The only problem is it was Jimmy Johnson giving it
- 19:18during the halftime show on Fox NFL's Halftime Show. So in case you missed
- 19:25it or we're just like a refresher, here's Jimmy Johnson at halftime on TV
- 19:30saying what he would be telling the team if he was coaching the Cowboys down
- 19:36twenty points to the Green Bay Packers. I don't need to have people point
- 19:41in the fingers one thing or another. You get your rear in in there
- 19:44and you play the way you know how to play. We can win the
- 19:47game. We're gonna open it up, We're gonna go fast tempo defense,
- 19:51get after Jordan Love. You can't give him that much time. You do
- 19:55what you're supposed to do. We'll win this, James. Mm hmmm mm
- 20:00hmmmm. And I don't. I'm not in the locker room to see what
- 20:07Mike McCarthy tells the team. I don't know what Dan Quinn, the defensive
- 20:11coordinator, is telling his defense at halftime, or if he's already on the
- 20:14phone with Seattle. But I do know what I what I am able to
- 20:22see. What I'm able to see is Jerry Jones had more fire in his
- 20:26belly on a television set Jimmy Johnson. Then what did I say, jes
- 20:33My bad. I'm going to restart that sentence. Jimmy Johnson had more fire
- 20:37in his belly from a television set than I saw from Mike McCarthy the entire
- 20:45season. Yes, you're actual to me. That to me is a problem.
- 20:51And the fact that the team seems to read seems to act the same
- 20:55way McCarthy does, which is kind of what happens. The team's personality will
- 20:57kind of take on the personality of its coach. Look at the Lions and
- 21:03you were left with a lackluster performance, right you weren't wrong though, when
- 21:08you started off and you said Jerry Jones instead of Jimmy Johnson, because when
- 21:11they would pan to him in the Owner's box, he was he was red
- 21:15faced and pissed, which was more than you were seeing outa McCarthy or anyone
- 21:18else. All right. I mean at a certain point when they cut to
- 21:22Jerry Jones in the booth, you couldn't tell if it was him or a
- 21:23bab boons ass. I think that was just the Johnny Walker blue But that's
- 21:29uh, oh, he'd be read full time if that was the case.
- 21:33But at one point you could see Jerry Jones when I think it was the
- 21:38pick six he had whatever was in his hand, he threw it on the
- 21:41ground gut and you can read his lips. He goes, that's game and
- 21:45he said it. But hm, But Mike McCarthy always joke, and I
- 21:48have since he's been our coach. He just looks like he's ordering off a
- 21:52takeout menu. That's what he's got. When he's just looking like that's so
- 21:56when you're like, Jimmy Johnson had fire in his belly, and I'm like,
- 21:59you know what, and he probably had express in his it just looks
- 22:03like he's always ordering something. There's no, there's no McCarthy also probably has
- 22:08fire in his belly from the indigestion from the from the chili dog. But
- 22:14you know, we make fun of McCarthy for that. But it's like I
- 22:18was. I heard a clip from the Kelsey's podcast, and you know,
- 22:21both of them have basically played for Andy Reid, and you know, and
- 22:26they just joke about how if it's an Andy Reid coach team, you know,
- 22:30the food on the bus and the plane and in the locker room is
- 22:33going to be primo. Although although Rajer, I think you're right, it
- 22:41really does look like with the play sheet in front of McCarthy's face, it
- 22:45does look like a not only a takeout menu. What it looks like is
- 22:48it looks like he was so hungry when he pulled up to Sonic that he
- 22:52ripped the entire menu off the stand. You see the wires from the red
- 22:59button d eng One Mountain. His orders are just so big, and he
- 23:04has a dry erase marker so he just use then and then watch it down.
- 23:11And maybe that's part of the problem with with the offense is he has
- 23:14he has difficulty calling just for one blizzard he wants to try the ball and
- 23:19then and they're in the huddle going what's a blizzard? Like what what play
- 23:22is that? And he just like they just keep hearing it in their in
- 23:25their in their helmets. But like Tony Pollard, let's go to this Tony
- 23:29Pollard now that he's got his contract, the lack of contract effort, Well
- 23:34he got the the one that he got the he got the franchise tag,
- 23:37so yeah, but but what he was doing motivation to me was not a
- 23:41problem for him. Uh. It just seemed like for whatever from from from
- 23:45the beginning of the season to the end of it, Tony Pollard did not
- 23:48look the same. At times, he looked pretty good at times He's but
- 23:52that was sort of how the Cowboys were as a whole for the for the
- 23:55entire season. Look back at the games where they got their asses handed to
- 23:59them, and that's exactly what happened in the game against Green Bay. And
- 24:03they are also the most penalized team, I believe, or at least top
- 24:07three, and which is just mental mistakes. And that's something that has been
- 24:12a constant in the Mike McCarthy era. Two things that have been problems for
- 24:19the Cowboys since he's been the head coach. Number one has been penalties and
- 24:29and number two is the clock management. In this game, clock management wasn't
- 24:33going to be a problem other than the fact that they forgot to start.
- 24:40Yeah, that is. I don't know what they can tell the media,
- 24:45what they can tell the fans to excuse that. I just wanted did they
- 24:49go out the night before? I always because I remember I used to have
- 24:53a club back in the day, and I'd see those guys, these guys,
- 24:57but I'd see the Cowboys players come in and I'm like, isn't tomorrow
- 25:00a home game? And then i'd watch him. I'm like, oh it
- 25:03was Quincy Carter. Was he? And we got to talk about that too.
- 25:08But Quincy Carter would come in, I'm like, you're playing tomorrow and
- 25:12like three interceptions for Quincy Carter. I'm like, I can tell you why
- 25:15that's happening. Yeah, I know exactly what he drank. Here's the thing
- 25:18with that, though, if that's not anything that Cowboys players before Quincy Carter
- 25:26and after Quincy Carter hadn't done. Trust me, we all know Michael Irvin
- 25:30did plenty of going out before games and guess what, it never It never
- 25:33got in the way. He still showed up and he was still the playmaker.
- 25:37Yeah, there are great examples of great athletes or sportsmen doing things at
- 25:47a high level that you wouldn't expect them to because of what they did the
- 25:51day before. Was it David Wells with the Yankees through a perfect game?
- 25:53And what did he tell the media after the game. He's like, Man,
- 25:56I've been I hung over. Yeah, I mean, you're just talking
- 26:03about different because Michael Livern you're talking you're talking about going out before the game.
- 26:07You're talking about the night before. Michael Irvin was at the Strip Club
- 26:08watching the noon games before. Yeah, Jerry was cutting his cutting his lines
- 26:18up in the locker room during a halftime, Like you were doing great out
- 26:21there, buddy. Uh. Yeah. There's also there's also a theory that
- 26:26I just read yesterday that says that the Cowboys have been cursed by Quincy Carter
- 26:30and until he is inducted, and I'm not making this up, until he's
- 26:36inducted in the Ring of Honor, there will be no Super Bowl for the
- 26:40Dallas Cowboys. This is just something I read yesterday. Then let there be
- 26:42no Super Bowl ever. Cro Chiefs, Dallas's original professional football team. I
- 26:56used to work out at the same place as Quincy Carter. I don't I
- 27:00don't think he has it in him to even do a curse. He's having
- 27:07a hard time just getting from machine to machine, So I don't. I
- 27:11don't I think he's I don't think he's worried so much about what the Cowboys
- 27:15are doing now and cursing them or something. Are you talking about are you
- 27:19talking about from the frosty machine to the drink machine? Yeah, I've never
- 27:26heard of a draft call machine. But uh, it's just all that brings
- 27:37me to this once again, to state McCarthy at the time that we've done.
- 27:45At the time of this recording, McCarthy still has a job. A
- 27:48bunch of players still have their jobs. And I saw a quote from Ceedee
- 27:53Lamb a few days before the game saying that he appreciates the demand that the
- 28:00fans have for wanting a Super Bowl, you know, brought home to Dallas,
- 28:04right, And he said He's like, I appreciate that, but trust
- 28:10me that the fans don't want it as bad as we do. We're in
- 28:12here every day, blah, blah blah. I guess they do. Yes,
- 28:15they do CD because you're a player for this little window and those there
- 28:19are those of us who are older than you whose window is much larger.
- 28:23Like the Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl since Cede Lam's been alive. So
- 28:27I'm pretty sure I want a Super Bowl more badly than he does. Yes,
- 28:33I just don't have the physical ability, never especially not now, to
- 28:37go do anything about it. He does. So that leads me to this.
- 28:44I wish the players could experience what we the fans experience when they play
- 28:51so embarrassingly poorly. So for me and my wife, we'll go to a
- 28:56bar. We live in an area it is not North Texas, it is
- 29:00not Texas, it is not the Southwest. There are fans from teams from
- 29:04all over the place, and we don't get the warmest of welcomes when we
- 29:10show up wearing Cowboys stuff. So when the team doesn't show up to play
- 29:17like they like they did on Sunday, and we're left in a bar surrounded
- 29:22by Packers fans wearing a Cowboys star on our chest, we are embarrassed.
- 29:30It is embarrassing, and if the players could experience that, just once.
- 29:37I think they would. I don't know, I don't know if respond better,
- 29:42but at the very least would have a deeper appreciation for what they do
- 29:47and how it affects people. Because it's not all people just burning jerseys and
- 29:51punching their flat screen TVs, although that obviously happens. It's just this thinking
- 29:56of how can you maybe it's me taking it to personally, how can you
- 30:00go out there and perform so poorly that as a fan base, we're embarrassed
- 30:07to be wearing the star? Yeah? And that's again why I and again
- 30:12I just want to ask what is the mindset behind We're already losing this game.
- 30:18The owner and GM of the team just threw whatever was in his hand
- 30:22down and says, that's game. You already half way through the second quarter?
- 30:26Yeah, so why not go? Hey, you know what that we're
- 30:30done? Just go ahead. I mean, you obviously didn't come to play,
- 30:33So sit your ass down, Cedie. You can't figure out a route,
- 30:36So you sit down, and all you guys that have been sitting here
- 30:38going we am. I gonna get my shot, get the fucking the game.
- 30:41Let's go. Let's see what you guys got. And then go okay,
- 30:45well, at least everyone, at least everyone sort of attempted. That
- 30:48would require a coach peeking out from behind his sonic menu to pay attention to
- 30:55what's actually happening on the field. Yeah, because I get to you everything
- 31:00you just said Jimmy Johnson would do. And that gets me to my final
- 31:04thing with this game, and that is based on the audio that we heard
- 31:08with Jimmy Johnson in halftime seemingly more fired up than coach McCarthy all season.
- 31:15Yeah, Tara and I discussed the possibility, like most Cowboys fans do.
- 31:22Maybe, man, if they could just bring Jimmy back, which we know
- 31:26is not gonna happen, but it did offer a beautiful fantasy in my mind,
- 31:32and that is Jimmy Johnson does come back to the Cowboys, except he
- 31:36doesn't wait for Jerry to fire McCarthy. He doesn't even wait for a phone
- 31:41call, he doesn't wait for an invitation. He just takes his boat straight
- 31:45from the Florida Keys, right through the Gulf and beaches that fucker in Houston
- 31:51and takes it all the way up to Frisco, crashes through the front of
- 31:56the Star in Frisco and just starts firing everybody and takes over, and Jerry
- 32:02is so stunned. He's just gonna be like, well, okay, I
- 32:08get rid of McCarthy, get rid of whoever he doesn't want, let him
- 32:12come in coach one season and my fantasy turned into a wet dream. I
- 32:17know it's not gonna happen, but it's a beautiful thought just to have Jimmy
- 32:22crash through the front door of the Star and say I'm taking this bitch over.
- 32:25Follow me, and you see what happens. Yeah, I looked at
- 32:30it like just like the first game of the season is just McCarthy's standing there,
- 32:36assuming he just thought as his job, and then just just out of
- 32:38nowhere, you just see Jimmy come out with the perfect hair and depending on
- 32:44the weather, either the white jacket with the blue star and the blue or
- 32:47just and then he just taps macarthy on the shoulder and McCarthy's like, so,
- 32:52what is it you want to eat? And he's like, oh shit,
- 32:53that's Jimmy and he just thought it was somebody else that wanted to order
- 33:00his menu, and he goes, you're out, and it's just like a
- 33:01tag team. And then he's out to the rest of the game, and
- 33:05then that's it, and then you don't ever see him again. He rides
- 33:07off into the foot lung conies of the world. It'd be really fitting though,
- 33:13you know his way out, give him a sack of his sonic and
- 33:16you know that has a chicken sandwich instead of a burger. So we got
- 33:19the wrong order. I think I've got another. I've got another fantasy.
- 33:30And that would have been at halftime of that. Jimmy flies from La Yeah
- 33:37to Arlington m with the smoke machine, comes running out of the tunnel with
- 33:45his nineties apex jacket. Yeah. And his hair is not just beautiful,
- 33:52yeah, but on the flight he fashioned it into a stellar white mohawk.
- 34:00And he comes in and he's ready to coach the second half and just to
- 34:04see the whole place light up. At that point there would be a roof
- 34:08in the stadium, but it wouldn't be because Jerry pushed a button. Yeah.
- 34:13I was just say and I love how you said that he just flew
- 34:15at halftime. You didn't say there was a plane or a hell. He
- 34:17just flew. That's right, That's how he was. He put on his
- 34:22blue cape with a Cowboys star and and saved the day. That would have
- 34:30been incredible. I'm on board with that fantasy. We Unfortunately, that's what
- 34:36we're left with of another off season of disappointment. Is fantasy mm hmm.
- 34:42Meanwhile, other teams move on. Jordan Love moves on rightfully. So uh
- 34:50quick question. So where I was watching the game, I couldn't hear every
- 34:53second of the sound as far as the broadcast goes right, they did show
- 35:00fans in the stands certainly looking shocked and dismayed. They're in a state of
- 35:04disbelief, which, honestly, shock and disbelief should have gone away after the
- 35:08pick six in the second quarter because we all knew that's it. The game's
- 35:13over. This team doesn't like coming from behind. They're terrible with adversity.
- 35:19Were there any booze from the fans in that game at the end? Yes,
- 35:25to me, that's where I think that. Had I been in the
- 35:28stands right after that pick six, I would have been booing. And that
- 35:32takes a lot for me to boom my team because I hate it. I
- 35:36typically hate it, but I hated the way they played so much. I
- 35:39wish the entire stadium would have gotten in their ass with a big old boodoo
- 35:45like a boo dildo, and not stopped until they actually responded in a positive
- 35:50manner. Is that gonna be this week's update on Only Dance? You know
- 36:00what, We all deal with pain in different ways. Some of us gape.
- 36:19I feel like that's kind of a nice little tagline for the season of
- 36:22The Trio's football podcasts. We gape. All right, Well, I at
- 36:35least feel a little bit better to to bitch about it in here with you
- 36:37guys. Hope you do as well. Yeah, for sure, go Chiefs
- 36:45Tray, I'm with you. I'm I'm, I'm, I'm. I'm on
- 36:47the Chiefs bandwagon now, at least, at least for the remainder of this season again
