- 0:08Speaker 1: Nightingales notes USA Today Insider FT Insider Bomb Nightingale swinging
- 0:14Speaker 1: back with us.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Let's go to the headliner, Bob.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Percentage chance that you think Derek Scoogle is on a
- 0:19Speaker 1: different team early next week, and what those teams on
- 0:23Speaker 1: the high list could look like right now in your
- 0:26Speaker 1: mind that would give up a big package and take them.
- 0:30Speaker 3: I think about eighty percent chance, if not a little higher.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I just think that the way they have played, being
- 0:35Speaker 3: you know, six games under five hundred, so they have
- 0:38Speaker 3: no choice. I think they're going to try to thread
- 0:41Speaker 3: the needle here and say, you know what, tall teams
- 0:44Speaker 3: will trade them, but we need to start back that
- 0:46Speaker 3: can fit in rotation right now and get some help
- 0:49Speaker 3: in the future. I think they're going to try to
- 0:51Speaker 3: do both ways because they don't want to upset the
- 0:53Speaker 3: fan base. They don't want to upset the club, the
- 0:55Speaker 3: players in the clubhouse. I think they should keep them
- 0:58Speaker 3: because I think that rotation scary. But I think they
- 1:02Speaker 3: kind of desperate to make sure they get something out
- 1:05Speaker 3: of them, so I think you're gonna move them, but
- 1:07Speaker 3: I do think it gets the major league's return. I
- 1:10Speaker 3: still think the Dodgers are number one fit Uh. Remember
- 1:13Speaker 3: now he's still got nine and a half million bucks
- 1:15Speaker 3: in that payroll. I'm in his contract. That's tough to uh,
- 1:19Speaker 3: you know for a lot of teams to pay the Dodgers.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I think they need the guy, I mean Otani. Now
- 1:24Speaker 3: it said last night he's got a bicep problem. You know,
- 1:28Speaker 3: where do you know about his knee problem? So you
- 1:30Speaker 3: really can't count him in the postseason. So you got Yamamoto.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Snells only pitch three innings all year?
- 1:37Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:37Speaker 3: Sasaki? You know he's not a given you know what,
- 1:40Speaker 3: you can get a glass now, Robleski. Uh, you know
- 1:43Speaker 3: it's already passes. Uh, you know, career high innings. So
- 1:47Speaker 3: I'll go Dodgers one Atlanta to uh Tampa three Milwaukee four?
- 1:55Speaker 5: Wow. Wow.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Okay, that was my question. Where do you think he
- 1:57Speaker 4: ends up? Apparently l A. Why wouldn't Why why would
- 2:00Speaker 4: the Rays or Brewers not do this? Is it simply
- 2:02Speaker 4: because of the rental situation and he's only possibly going
- 2:06Speaker 4: to be there for one year and they don't want
- 2:07Speaker 4: to give up what they would need to give up?
- 2:10Speaker 4: Is that why you don't see the Rays or Brewers
- 2:12Speaker 4: making a huge splash, because those are the teams with
- 2:14Speaker 4: the best records right now.
- 2:16Speaker 3: No great. I mean I think the Rays will be
- 2:18Speaker 3: in and unfor sure. I think they might be more
- 2:20Speaker 3: aggressive in Milwaukee. The Brewers just have never done this.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Uh yeah, they got the top farm system or you know,
- 2:27Speaker 3: top three. If I'm the Brewers, I'd do it. Pair
- 2:30Speaker 3: him with Menzerowski as a scare rotation, and they're not
- 2:33Speaker 3: gonna have a chance to knock out the Dodgers less
- 2:35Speaker 3: they move make a move like this. You know another
- 2:38Speaker 3: you know, teams are talking about Parolta, but pretty parra Alta.
- 2:41Speaker 3: You know, you know, nice pitcher, but he's not care
- 2:44Speaker 3: at schoolball. I would love to see that Brewers go
- 2:46Speaker 3: all in and finally get over the hump and get
- 2:49Speaker 3: back to the World Series. Man, but nineteen eighty two
- 2:52Speaker 3: a long long.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Time, Bob, you said eighty percent, What on earth would
- 2:57Speaker 6: happen for the twenty percent? Nobody gives them more than
- 3:00Speaker 6: what they'd get back from a qualifying offer.
- 3:04Speaker 3: But I think the America League is just so bad.
- 3:06Speaker 3: It's like, okay, I think that they face the A's
- 3:09Speaker 3: after this, they go to Sacramento. You know what, if
- 3:11Speaker 3: they're even in the wild card and race only what
- 3:13Speaker 3: three back in the lost column or right there? Uh,
- 3:17Speaker 3: and kind of looking around, maybe they say, you know what,
- 3:19Speaker 3: let's go with this guy. I think they got a
- 3:21Speaker 3: great rotation. My stays healthy. They can knock off anybody.
- 3:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's different than the National League because nationally
- 3:28Speaker 3: you still got to go up against the Dodgers, Phillies, Brewers, Atlanta.
- 3:32Speaker 3: The America League, who you got to go up against,
- 3:34Speaker 3: there's nobody that scares you. You know, probably the most
- 3:36Speaker 3: powerful team in the America League right now, it's proably
- 3:38Speaker 3: the Red Sox.
- 3:41Speaker 5: All Right, Mason Miller.
- 3:42Speaker 6: We if we're doing percentages, what's the percentage chance that
- 3:46Speaker 6: they that they trade Mason Miller? But the Padres aren't
- 3:51Speaker 6: cashing it in because Prowler never cashes it in.
- 3:55Speaker 3: No, but it's got a new ownership coming in. You're
- 3:56Speaker 3: drawing more than three million fans a year. I think
- 4:00Speaker 3: maybe fifteen or twenty percent chance if they do. They
- 4:03Speaker 3: got to get some pitches, return starts, a return get
- 4:06Speaker 3: you only got about two starters. So I would do
- 4:09Speaker 3: it because I think a lot of times, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 3: he's been a kind of wasted this year. He's got
- 4:14Speaker 3: a couple of times this year. But he's gotten you know,
- 4:15Speaker 3: five days without pitching, six days up pitching, and we
- 4:19Speaker 3: have an elite closing like this, you got to use them.
- 4:22Speaker 3: So uh, you know, I think they end up keeping
- 4:25Speaker 3: them just because same thing. I mean, all they got
- 4:29Speaker 3: to do is beat out Pittsburgh and uh in Arizona
- 4:32Speaker 3: for that last walk Ard spot. With the way the
- 4:34Speaker 3: Phillips has struggled, you might even get the number five
- 4:37Speaker 3: seed instead of the sixth seed.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Wow, what does it? What does a deal for Mason
- 4:41Speaker 4: Miller look like? We know what they had to give
- 4:43Speaker 4: up to get him, is it would they be looking
- 4:46Speaker 4: for if it did happen the same type of return
- 4:49Speaker 4: that they had to give up to get Mason Miller
- 4:51Speaker 4: from Sacramento, they would.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I just don't see eighteen getting him. I mean giving
- 4:57Speaker 3: up like that, that was a ton they gave up.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I mean, we haven't seen, you know, a package like
- 5:02Speaker 3: that since the one Soto deal that the National has
- 5:05Speaker 3: got from San Diego. So even when San Diego flipped them,
- 5:08Speaker 3: they didn't get the same return. I think, same thing here.
- 5:11Speaker 3: They're not gonna get back what they gave up to
- 5:13Speaker 3: Oakland or gave up to the Age to begin with.
- 5:18Speaker 6: If Mason's not really available or most likely not available
- 5:22Speaker 6: without a big haul, who's that next best closer that's
- 5:26Speaker 6: available because teams are looking for that position.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they could trade on Moro hon and uh,
- 5:33Speaker 3: you can go that way. The setup guy. I mean, uh,
- 5:36Speaker 3: he's a lefty. Every team could use them, but fasos
- 5:39Speaker 3: Dodgers in the in the playoffs, you know, Dodgers went
- 5:42Speaker 3: fi their top seven guys or left handed otherwise, you know,
- 5:46Speaker 3: it drops off O'Brien. Maybe with Saint Louis.
- 5:49Speaker 7: Uh.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I think you know we're talking about you know, Harper's
- 5:52Speaker 3: comments in Pulley before you know we're talking last week.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I think Hoffman Jeff Abmin would make a lot of
- 5:58Speaker 3: sense there. He was with them before. They like him.
- 6:02Speaker 3: He knows everybody there. But I could see Hoppin, you know,
- 6:05Speaker 3: at least be a setup guy for Duran in Philadelphia.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Wow, Okay, closers are going to be popular, Bob, But
- 6:14Speaker 4: closers are going to be popular. I'm gonna go to
- 6:16Speaker 4: my favorite team. We all know who this is, the
- 6:17Speaker 4: White Sox. Will the White Sox actually do something? I've
- 6:20Speaker 4: heard they're really going to be aggressive. They're really going
- 6:22Speaker 4: to try. But will they make the big splash. They
- 6:25Speaker 4: are in first place, the American League is down. Will
- 6:27Speaker 4: the White Sox really go for it?
- 6:30Speaker 3: They won't, just because they've gone to the thanks a lot.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But when you think about it, you know, if they
- 6:40Speaker 3: go for it and trade with their top prospects, it
- 6:42Speaker 3: doesn't work out in the same position they were in.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Got two guys fired already over that. So if there's
- 6:48Speaker 3: a picture available and you know, just take this contract
- 6:52Speaker 3: and not give up much, so I'll do it. I
- 6:54Speaker 3: can't see them giving up a top ten prospect unless
- 6:57Speaker 3: it's like you get a redet Meers or showing you
- 7:00Speaker 3: know that's already got two and a half years of control.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I just don't think they'll go all in just for
- 7:05Speaker 3: a rental. Yeah, yeah, I think they make the playoffs.
- 7:08Speaker 3: They don't want a playoff game. It's an unbelievable season.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I think there'll sell more season tickets next year anyway.
- 7:14Speaker 3: But I just don't see them giveaway prospects just just
- 7:17Speaker 3: to go for it this year.
- 7:19Speaker 6: Is there anything saying that they wouldn't take on you said,
- 7:22Speaker 6: you said possibly, if they get somebody, they'd be taking
- 7:24Speaker 6: on somebody's contract. It Pittures contract, Like, is there a
- 7:29Speaker 6: possibility that there's some money there for Jerry to allow
- 7:32Speaker 6: Chris Getz to spend.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I think there's definitely money there. I think their attendance
- 7:38Speaker 3: is up at least projected to be up four hundred
- 7:40Speaker 3: and five hundred thousand over over what they thought at
- 7:43Speaker 3: least over a year ago. And there's gonna some more
- 7:45Speaker 3: season tickets next year too, just because you know, the
- 7:48Speaker 3: team got Pivo excited. So there's so many money in there.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I think they got the third lowest payroll. They just
- 7:53Speaker 3: don't want to give up the prospects. But like you'll say, ah,
- 7:57Speaker 3: you know Array of the Giants. You know he's making
- 7:59Speaker 3: twenty family of a year. If it doesn't cost mentioned prospects,
- 8:03Speaker 3: you know, I can see him going there.
- 8:08Speaker 1: If you're watching us, you already know we're wearing mack
- 8:11Speaker 1: Weldon right now as we talk about a great brand
- 8:13Speaker 1: that makes things so comfortable and easy to wear. But
- 8:16Speaker 1: if you're listening to the show, let me tell you
- 8:18Speaker 1: a little bit more about mack Weldon with my friend
- 8:21Speaker 1: Aer Kratz.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Yeah, it's comfortable, it's light, it's summertime right now for me,
- 8:27Speaker 6: though they cater to what I need tall clothes. Normally,
- 8:31Speaker 6: when I buy tall clothes, it's like something that's cumbersome
- 8:35Speaker 6: and boxy. It still fits incredibly well, super light, perfect
- 8:40Speaker 6: for the summertime. They got me all covered.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Comfortable performance material can be yours. Mac Weldon is the spot.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Don't sweat the heat this summer. Feel as effortlessly cool
- 8:54Speaker 1: as you look. With Mack Weldon, go to Mackweldon dot
- 8:56Speaker 1: com and get twenty percent off your first order of
- 8:58Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty five bucks or more with pro
- 9:00Speaker 1: code foul. That's m A C K W E L
- 9:02Speaker 1: d O N dot com code f o U L.
- 9:05Speaker 4: And then what other teams, Bob, since you broke my
- 9:07Speaker 4: heart in the White Sox, what other teams are all talked?
- 9:09Speaker 4: Then you're saying that the White Sox aren't going to
- 9:11Speaker 4: do anything. Brewers raise braves. Some of these teams, which
- 9:15Speaker 4: are these other mariners? Which of these teams are all
- 9:17Speaker 4: talked to need help? And they're just like the White
- 9:20Speaker 4: Sox break break my heart some more, Bob.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Well, it is different. I mean, Seattle, it's a complete
- 9:25Speaker 3: disaster if you don't make the playoffs. I mean, what
- 9:28Speaker 3: a waste of a pitching staff again. And then I
- 9:31Speaker 3: think people's jobs are on the line. I think they
- 9:33Speaker 3: you know, whether it's the manager, where's the GM. I
- 9:36Speaker 3: think they got to make the mom to get a bat.
- 9:38Speaker 3: No choice with the rais no big deal. They you know,
- 9:42Speaker 3: nobody expect the Raised to be in this position. I
- 9:44Speaker 3: think the Raised internal projections were ninety wins. But you know, uh,
- 9:49Speaker 3: they don't have to make that big move. I think
- 9:51Speaker 3: Atlanta would love to get our starter. They had their
- 9:54Speaker 3: eyes on Sunny Gray before the Red Sox got hot.
- 9:57Speaker 3: So I'm not sure Scooba fits in with them. But
- 10:00Speaker 3: you know some other guys would for sure, you know,
- 10:03Speaker 3: they'll go after read det Mers or something like that.
- 10:05Speaker 3: But neil uh a Pralta. But I'm not sure you
- 10:09Speaker 3: know that Atlanta says we got to go get Schooble.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I'm not sure they believe that there should be all
- 10:14Speaker 3: in either.
- 10:16Speaker 6: You said, the Brewers just don't do that. They don't
- 10:18Speaker 6: go all in for a Tereric scouble. What is all
- 10:21Speaker 6: in for the Brewers? What type of move or who
- 10:24Speaker 6: is that type of move in that category for the Brewers?
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I could see him. If you don't get a
- 10:31Speaker 3: you know Schooball, you know, getting someone like a uh,
- 10:35Speaker 3: I'm not even sure, you know, getting at least a
- 10:37Speaker 3: Rodney and Ray getting another reliever. I think they got
- 10:40Speaker 3: to get and get in their beat. If they could
- 10:43Speaker 3: go get a big bat. I don't know if maybe
- 10:44Speaker 3: it's a Versha a Hoffin combination from Toronto or something
- 10:49Speaker 3: like that, but you know, their last in the league
- 10:51Speaker 3: and home runs, they could use another late anyone leave
- 10:54Speaker 3: for sure, and they definitely need their starter if they're
- 10:57Speaker 3: giving you serious about taking out the Dodgers.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Boh, the Brewers? What would be? How would the fans
- 11:04Speaker 4: react if they do this again and they don't. I
- 11:06Speaker 4: mean it's been twenty eighteen, they finally they did win
- 11:08Speaker 4: a playoff series last year. You mentioned nineteen eighty two.
- 11:10Speaker 4: They haven't been to the World Series. There you said
- 11:12Speaker 4: the Mariners could be a wasted year if they don't
- 11:14Speaker 4: make it. Is the Brewers. Do you start looking at
- 11:16Speaker 4: the Brewers as wasting years of this team that has
- 11:20Speaker 4: been so special. I know they keep turning it over
- 11:22Speaker 4: and they keep winning, but if they don't ever do
- 11:24Speaker 4: it and they never make it to that World Series,
- 11:26Speaker 4: do you consider it them wasting years? Also?
- 11:30Speaker 3: Because they're so so young. It's not like I said,
- 11:33Speaker 3: your Dodgers got to win now because the team get older,
- 11:35Speaker 3: or like the Phillies have got to win now. I
- 11:38Speaker 3: think what happened would helped them in big time last year,
- 11:42Speaker 3: just the fact then knocked off the Cubs in the playoffs.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I was there for Game five to set a game.
- 11:47Speaker 3: You would have thought they won the World Series. You
- 11:49Speaker 3: knew they weren't going to be the Dodgers because they
- 11:51Speaker 3: spend all their energy just knocking off the Cubs. So
- 11:54Speaker 3: you know this year what they're supposed to win eighty
- 11:56Speaker 3: three the four games back in the playoffs. Again, they
- 12:00Speaker 3: could end up with the best record in baseball. So
- 12:03Speaker 3: I think they I didn't think I at least get
- 12:05Speaker 3: the NLCS. Then I think the fans would be happy.
- 12:08Speaker 3: But I think the fans would go, you know, absolutely
- 12:11Speaker 3: ballistic if they got a guy like Scooba. Uh, but
- 12:14Speaker 3: you know, they sell so many tickets anyway, It's not
- 12:17Speaker 3: like they're gonna have a huge jumping season ticket sales.
- 12:20Speaker 3: But it was certainly exact a fan base, and of
- 12:22Speaker 3: course everybody in that club goes.
- 12:25Speaker 6: You mentioned the Phillies window. Essentially you said the window
- 12:28Speaker 6: is closing for this team. How aggressive and what moves
- 12:32Speaker 6: do you feel like are in store for Dave Dombrowski
- 12:35Speaker 6: and the Phillies.
- 12:37Speaker 3: But they got to get another reliever. You know, losing
- 12:40Speaker 3: miss Keller was huge to them, So they got to
- 12:42Speaker 3: get a setup guy for Duran and they got to
- 12:45Speaker 3: get in her Bet. You know, that's why maybe you
- 12:47Speaker 3: know that that hopping on varshow combination makes a lot
- 12:51Speaker 3: of sense. And again to Joe Adell from Anaheim, that
- 12:55Speaker 3: would make a lot of sense. But I don't think
- 12:57Speaker 3: they're gonna They're not could be there on August fourth
- 13:01Speaker 3: without addressing those two things, like you in our starter,
- 13:05Speaker 3: But that's kind of least of their concerns right now.
- 13:07Speaker 3: It's pretty much those two guys to have a chance.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I mean, you talk to Phillies and you talk to
- 13:12Speaker 3: the front office. They believe they should have had a
- 13:14Speaker 3: world series by now, you know, since twenty twenty one,
- 13:17Speaker 3: if not two rings, this might be the weakest, you
- 13:21Speaker 3: know team of those five. But I think they got
- 13:25Speaker 3: to get those two guys. And you know, like you
- 13:27Speaker 3: guys are talking about what Harper said, they're all saying
- 13:30Speaker 3: the same thing. They've ben't seeing that for a month now,
- 13:33Speaker 3: the front office knows that it's just a yeah, I
- 13:36Speaker 3: was surprised at badally the wrong way like that. But
- 13:40Speaker 3: remember Don Sun's the GM, so it might be a
- 13:42Speaker 3: little sensitive there.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I forgot about that ball. That's smart. I forgot Preson's
- 13:47Speaker 4: the GM. So I'm like, hey, leave my kid alone,
- 13:50Speaker 4: Leave my son alone, Bob. That's like you when I
- 13:51Speaker 4: say bad things about the Twins beat writers, you say,
- 13:54Speaker 4: leave my son alone. A kidding.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Oh, it's understood.
- 13:56Speaker 4: It's interested. One team we didn't talk about, we haven't
- 13:59Speaker 4: even mentioned yet, and we're deep in this conversation is
- 14:02Speaker 4: the New York Yankees. They don't usually make these huge splashes,
- 14:05Speaker 4: but they do have some holes. Is there a move
- 14:08Speaker 4: out there that can fix the Yankees? And by the way,
- 14:10Speaker 4: before you answer that, do we have an Aaron Judge
- 14:12Speaker 4: status update other than he gets more imaging like once
- 14:15Speaker 4: a week.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Hey, what they're more they're more worried about Judge than
- 14:20Speaker 3: they let on. They don't know whether it's coming back
- 14:22Speaker 3: or not. We'll see, and they're keeping their fingers crossed
- 14:26Speaker 3: saying their prayers at night. But you know, if he
- 14:28Speaker 3: hasn't come back, you know then it's like, Okay, how
- 14:30Speaker 3: aggressive you really want to be? You know I can
- 14:32Speaker 3: win the World Series without Aaron Judge, So yeah, they
- 14:36Speaker 3: got to get in our bad You know they'd love
- 14:38Speaker 3: to go all in a Bason Miller. You know, you
- 14:40Speaker 3: get them for four years, you know, be there, you know,
- 14:44Speaker 3: guy to be the be the Mario Rivera for them
- 14:48Speaker 3: and get them where they want to be. So I
- 14:50Speaker 3: think they'll be aggressive, but I don't think they're going
- 14:52Speaker 3: to go absolutely crazy just because of the Judge status.
- 14:56Speaker 3: And they know for sure Judge would come back. But
- 14:59Speaker 3: you're talking about even it became Bennett. You spissed so
- 15:01Speaker 3: much time, you know how you know, what does he
- 15:03Speaker 3: have left in the tank to help him this year?
- 15:06Speaker 1: Big second half of the season coming up, there might
- 15:08Speaker 1: be a hot ticket, a rivalry series, a sold out
- 15:12Speaker 1: experience they need to get your hands on, and Sea
- 15:15Speaker 1: Geek is the spot for that. You can find good,
- 15:18Speaker 1: good pricing. They help you with the pricing green dot good,
- 15:21Speaker 1: red dot not as good, and they help you with
- 15:24Speaker 1: your view of the seat for some big matchups coming
- 15:27Speaker 1: up in August, September and eventually leading up to playoffs.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Why would you not use seekek. If you want a
- 15:31Speaker 4: view from your seat, you want to know if it's
- 15:33Speaker 4: a good seat, if it's a good deal.
- 15:35Speaker 5: It has all of it on the app. It's easy
- 15:37Speaker 5: to use.

- 15:48Speaker 4: ticket and you can always try to find the green
- 15:50Speaker 4: dot on sekk.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And for MLB tickets, you can get ten percent off
- 15:54Speaker 1: with that promo code running all season long, Territory one zero.
- 15:57Speaker 1: That's territory ten off your next set of MLB tickets
- 16:01Speaker 1: at sea Geek. Make sure you click the link in
- 16:03Speaker 1: the description to download the app and have the code
- 16:04Speaker 1: automatically added tier counts so you can use it later.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Do you see any specific teams acting differently because of
- 16:11Speaker 6: the uncertainty of twenty twenty seven here at this trade deadline?
- 16:16Speaker 3: I think the only thing is you talk to GMS
- 16:18Speaker 3: is that, okay, if there's a salary cap next year,
- 16:21Speaker 3: those young guys not making money and be more valuable
- 16:24Speaker 3: than ever, so you really don't want to give them up.
- 16:26Speaker 3: So I don't hear anybody's talking about acting different, because
- 16:30Speaker 3: if it's gonna be a shorter season, we're just going
- 16:32Speaker 3: to half the season, lose the whole season. But nothing
- 16:35Speaker 3: like that. But just if there's a salary cap and
- 16:37Speaker 3: you've got a big market team, you're gonna have to
- 16:40Speaker 3: start blopping off some salaries. You know. I think it'll
- 16:42Speaker 3: be a tier system. You don't have to do it
- 16:44Speaker 3: right away, but certainly you're gonna have to do it
- 16:46Speaker 3: before the CBA expires in four or five years.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Bob, A lot of catchers, A lot of catchers, A
- 16:53Speaker 4: lot of teams need catching. I love catchers, crafts loves catchers.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Catchers are the smartest people, usually the best looking on
- 17:00Speaker 4: a team. Right, won't there be any catchers traded? I mean,
- 17:03Speaker 4: Hunter Goodman, We've heard Salvi Perez basically came out and
- 17:06Speaker 4: said he won't. He doesn't think you'll waive as no
- 17:08Speaker 4: trade clause, or do you think there'll be any catchers? Addly,
- 17:11Speaker 4: Pasaio's obviously not going anywhere, but do you think there'll
- 17:13Speaker 4: be any catchers move? Because that is a position of
- 17:16Speaker 4: need for a lot of these teams.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't see good moving neither. I mean, you
- 17:21Speaker 3: got them for four more years, and the guys have
- 17:23Speaker 3: study hit more home runs, you know, on the road
- 17:26Speaker 3: in that courtse field. I think I know the Twins
- 17:29Speaker 3: are in this thing. I think Ryan Jeffers can still
- 17:31Speaker 3: be traded. They got Karatini there, they can do both,
- 17:34Speaker 3: still stay in the race. Get some help, especially they
- 17:37Speaker 3: need some bullpen help, you know. With the Twins, a
- 17:40Speaker 3: gotta be kicking themselves, as you know, giving away Louis
- 17:42Speaker 3: Barland last year, tradding away Duran if they had just
- 17:46Speaker 3: kept one of them, just say, Barlin is a local
- 17:49Speaker 3: kid not making money. That might be win that division
- 17:51Speaker 3: by five games. So I'm sure that decision haunts them
- 17:56Speaker 3: every single night. But they could trade Jeffers to get
- 17:58Speaker 3: some bullpen help. He's gonna leave anywhe at the end
- 18:01Speaker 3: the year.
- 18:04Speaker 6: What about the Mets? What what about the Mets? A
- 18:06Speaker 6: team that has been out of it for two months,
- 18:09Speaker 6: they should be the most prepared for this trade deadline.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I know they've been prepared for the Beltron party in Cooperstown.
- 18:17Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, they're gonna move everybody, and uh, they'd
- 18:21Speaker 3: love to move a ut Lindor at some point. They
- 18:23Speaker 3: don't think they can do it now, just with the money.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It's so complicated. For if Londora's moved, it would more
- 18:29Speaker 3: be in the off season where teams can figure out
- 18:32Speaker 3: their payroll and everything else. But I'd be surprised to
- 18:35Speaker 3: see him still with the Mets a year from now.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I just think they want to shake things up. And
- 18:40Speaker 3: you know, I know how popular he is, you know,
- 18:42Speaker 3: But so it was Alonzo and they moved, so I
- 18:45Speaker 3: could see a lot of activity with Lindor, uh you
- 18:48Speaker 3: know this winner, but but not now. But yeah, otherwise,
- 18:52Speaker 3: I think just about everybody else else in the team
- 18:54Speaker 3: except the young guys are available.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Well, you mentioned Carlos beltromp So I'm going to ask this,
- 19:00Speaker 4: and it's kind of a little bit off the subject
- 19:02Speaker 4: of trades, which I love when we don't have to
- 19:04Speaker 4: talk about trades twenty four to seven, But is Carlos
- 19:06Speaker 4: Beltron going to be the manager of the Mets? I
- 19:08Speaker 4: know he already was and he got fired because of
- 19:10Speaker 4: the cheating thing with the trash can, but keep hearing
- 19:13Speaker 4: his name popping up all over the place. Andy Green's
- 19:16Speaker 4: I don't think is a long term solution for what
- 19:19Speaker 4: they want to do. But is Carlos Beltron going to
- 19:21Speaker 4: be the first, their first baby option, their first interview
- 19:25Speaker 4: for who they want.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I think he's been to have the job they really do,
- 19:29Speaker 3: and they asked me one it this summer, you know,
- 19:32Speaker 3: when they fire Mendoza, and he passed on it because
- 19:35Speaker 3: I think be as the Hall of Fame. Really it's like, okay,
- 19:37Speaker 3: I'm not going to do this. I got to prepare
- 19:39Speaker 3: for Cooper's Down. I'd be gone for a few days,
- 19:42Speaker 3: like to have a fresh start. So I think he's
- 19:45Speaker 3: the guy. I mean, they're having, you know, the big
- 19:47Speaker 3: lavish party at Cooper's Down for him having the ceremonies.
- 19:52Speaker 3: They love the guy. I think it's his job. I
- 19:55Speaker 3: still hear Chris Swinbert's name a little bit too as
- 19:59Speaker 3: far as the guy by a lacking interview, but I'd
- 20:01Speaker 3: be surprised or maybe even semi shocked it was not Beltron.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I thought I should have kept the job to begin with.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I that was ridiculous that he got fired when all
- 20:11Speaker 3: he was was a player during that scandal. It wasn't
- 20:13Speaker 3: like he was a GM or manager, and yet he
- 20:15Speaker 3: got punished the most.
- 20:18Speaker 6: You said the Mets should listen to anybody except for
- 20:20Speaker 6: the young guys. Who's the most valuable piece is Luke
- 20:22Speaker 6: Weaver because he's he's still locked in for another year
- 20:26Speaker 6: and he's pitching the best. Who's the most valuable piece
- 20:28Speaker 6: that that teams are going to inquire the most from
- 20:31Speaker 6: about from the Mets.
- 20:34Speaker 3: It might be play homes. You know, he's had a
- 20:36Speaker 3: couple of rehab assignments. Now he's probably going to opt
- 20:39Speaker 3: out anyway. It's only going to be about twelve Milly
- 20:41Speaker 3: dollars on his contract for next year if he doesn't
- 20:44Speaker 3: opt out. So I think people like him a lot
- 20:46Speaker 3: because he can do the you know, both ways, and
- 20:49Speaker 3: you need a reliever, you know, put kolds your bulk
- 20:51Speaker 3: and need a starter or do that where he could
- 20:53Speaker 3: do way uh you know the Phillies are talking about
- 20:56Speaker 3: if they got homes, he could start, you know, for
- 20:58Speaker 3: the rest of the year and then him in the
- 21:00Speaker 3: bullpen come postseason time. So I think he'd have a
- 21:03Speaker 3: little bit more of value than we would.
- 21:09Speaker 5: Last Oh.
- 21:12Speaker 4: No, I'm just I'm just surprised by that because you know,
- 21:14Speaker 4: wea were for at the beginning of your Mets fans
- 21:16Speaker 4: are ready to strangle him and Devin Williams and now
- 21:19Speaker 4: here they both are ended up actually having pretty good
- 21:22Speaker 4: years for both of them. Though it's kind of funny
- 21:24Speaker 4: that that's the thing. Also, it's a bother. There's one
- 21:26Speaker 4: more team that we haven't mentioned, the Cubs. The Cubs
- 21:28Speaker 4: the DFA Jameson tie On. They need pitching. We all
- 21:32Speaker 4: know they need pitching. Maybe another battle. Well, the Cubs
- 21:34Speaker 4: make a move not to win the division because Jed
- 21:37Speaker 4: Hoyer said, oh, we only want to do it if
- 21:39Speaker 4: we can beat get the buye right. Well, if the
- 21:41Speaker 4: Cubs fans, they're just happy they're in the playoffs, they
- 21:44Speaker 4: have a chance to win. So does that mean Jed
- 21:46Speaker 4: Hoyer won't make the big move because they're probably not
- 21:48Speaker 4: going to win the division.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I think they'll make a big move. I think they'll
- 21:52Speaker 3: be in on all the all the starters, you know,
- 21:54Speaker 3: whether it's say, you know, School Bawl or anybody else.
- 21:58Speaker 3: But I think, you know, I think Matt saw It
- 22:00Speaker 3: is a great trade piece. I think they get a
- 22:02Speaker 3: lot by using Shaw and the trade, but they got
- 22:05Speaker 3: to have a starter. If they weren't serious about that,
- 22:07Speaker 3: they want to you know, DFA tie on Who's so
- 22:10Speaker 3: poper that clubhouse, and there was a big wake up
- 22:12Speaker 3: call to those guys. But I think it's also a
- 22:14Speaker 3: sign that, hey, we're in this thing, you know, just
- 22:17Speaker 3: like you know, heard some feelings here, but we're going
- 22:20Speaker 3: for it. So no, I think, you know, they got
- 22:23Speaker 3: to go get a starter. I think they feel like
- 22:25Speaker 3: if they get a starter to at least have a
- 22:27Speaker 3: chance against the Dieters. So and right now, the way
- 22:30Speaker 3: they're you know, trending, they could get the number four seed,
- 22:34Speaker 3: so at least you to have home field advantage in
- 22:36Speaker 3: that wildcard round until the next play the next division series.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Bob, you are the best. Thank you.
- 22:42Speaker 1: We got to a lot. That's why it's night in
- 22:44Speaker 1: Gale's notes. We get to it just like you do
- 22:46Speaker 1: on the Sunday column that I love so dearly for
- 22:48Speaker 1: many years. Appreciate you. We'll talk again very soon about
- 22:52Speaker 1: trade deadline.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Look forward to it. Thank you, guys, Thank you, thank you.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Hey.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Anywhere I go in base all these days, all I
- 23:00Speaker 4: hear about is analytics and data and exit velocity and
- 23:04Speaker 4: pitch grips and spin rates and all this inverted vertical
- 23:09Speaker 4: break and everything that you're hearing about. It can all
- 23:11Speaker 4: be found with rap Sodo, It can all be delivered
- 23:14Speaker 4: to any level baseball, and it is important because it
- 23:17Speaker 4: is always talked about.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Now, yeah, these are tools that are measured, and now
- 23:20Speaker 1: you can get those tools measured at say the high
- 23:23Speaker 1: school level. This is a big one for high school programs.
- 23:25Speaker 1: They can get one thousand dollars off rapsodo Pro two
- 23:27Speaker 1: point zero and Pro three point zero, making it easier
- 23:30Speaker 1: to bring pro level player development tools into your facility.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And it's not just baseball. Rhapsodo Softball is helping softball
- 23:36Speaker 1: players and coaches trained with the same data driven mindset
- 23:39Speaker 1: built specifically for their game. So whether you're building a
- 23:42Speaker 1: program developing players we're just tired of guessing, go to
- 23:45Speaker 1: rapsodo dot com and learn more data wins. Rhapsodo helps
- 23:49Speaker 1: you use it.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 23:54Speaker 5: That's what he said.
- 23:55Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Guys, I thought this was interesting. Ken Rosenthal hopping on
- 24:02Speaker 1: Hammer Territory Brave show that's part of the FT Network,
- 24:06Speaker 1: and they asked a question that I just didn't even consider.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Alexanthopolis and his relationship with the Blue Jays. Blue Jays
- 24:14Speaker 1: could be big sellers over the next few days. Braves
- 24:17Speaker 1: definitely have some interest in their players. Let's run with
- 24:20Speaker 1: Ken said.
- 24:22Speaker 8: Do you see any world where the Blue Jays sell
- 24:24Speaker 8: off some pieces and would Gosman be a guy that
- 24:27Speaker 8: they could potentially pivot to.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I see that world.
- 24:30Speaker 8: I definitely see the Blue Jays potentially selling pieces. What
- 24:34Speaker 8: I have a harder time saying is the Blue Jays
- 24:37Speaker 8: trading with Alexanthopolis.
- 24:39Speaker 7: There are feelings There's got that way, There are.
- 24:42Speaker 9: Emotions there, and Anthopolis, of course would not work for
- 24:46Speaker 9: Mark Schapiro, who is now the team president. I would
- 24:49Speaker 9: think Toronto would have a hard time dealing with Alex now.
- 24:53Speaker 7: If he makes the best offer for Gossman and it's
- 24:56Speaker 7: in the best interest of both, I don't know why
- 24:58Speaker 7: you wouldn't you put all that past side. It's been
- 25:01Speaker 7: ten years now almost, But you.
- 25:04Speaker 8: Guys know, sometimes personal feelings do come into play, and
- 25:08Speaker 8: I could see it in this case more.
- 25:10Speaker 7: Than maybe in some others. If like the GM doesn't
- 25:12Speaker 7: like another GM. Granted again, if the deal is something
- 25:18Speaker 7: both sides desire and is helpful to both sides, sure
- 25:20Speaker 7: you get it done.
- 25:21Speaker 5: But that could be a roadblock.
- 25:26Speaker 1: And aj the same people are there, right, Like Mark
- 25:28Speaker 1: Shapiro is still running the Blue Jays front office, so
- 25:32Speaker 1: if there was some past beef, you know, his front
- 25:35Speaker 1: office making phone calls with Alex's front office on the
- 25:38Speaker 1: Atlanta side and potentially helping them win a World Series
- 25:43Speaker 1: is tough when people have personal feelings.
- 25:45Speaker 2: So do you think that this.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Could preclude a trade from going down between these two teams?
- 25:51Speaker 4: I hope not, but yes, Ken summed it up. We
- 25:53Speaker 4: all know personal feelings happen. I remember with the White Sox,
- 25:56Speaker 4: you'd hear all the time certain people didn't want to
- 25:58Speaker 4: deal with the White Sox front office. White Sox front
- 26:00Speaker 4: officer say, I don't want to deal with this guy
- 26:02Speaker 4: on this team because he screwed me fifteen years ago
- 26:04Speaker 4: in the past. Or I don't want to deal with
- 26:06Speaker 4: this agent because I don't like the way he cost
- 26:09Speaker 4: us this draft pick or whatever it is. So I
- 26:11Speaker 4: hope it doesn't happen. But we're human beings, and we
- 26:14Speaker 4: get emotional and we get mad at people, and we
- 26:17Speaker 4: hold grudges and we keep receipts and then, oh, I
- 26:21Speaker 4: got a chance to screw this guy over, I'm gonna
- 26:23Speaker 4: take every advantage because of what he did to me
- 26:25Speaker 4: twenty years ago. Trust me, I'm one of the worst
- 26:27Speaker 4: at It's one of my bad qualities that I had
- 26:29Speaker 4: that I definitely try to work on. But it's just hard.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Obviously I don't know this beef.
- 26:35Speaker 6: Obviously, I know, you know the Anthopolis didn't want to
- 26:38Speaker 6: work for Shapiro. But I do know what AJ was
- 26:41Speaker 6: talking about. What year did Garcia get traded from the
- 26:45Speaker 6: White Sox to the Phillies.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Do you remember, Uh, No, it's two thousand and seven.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Maybe it was when they got Geo Gonzalez back. I
- 26:55Speaker 4: think it was two thousand and seven.
- 26:57Speaker 6: Essentially, this was five years later, and I had no
- 27:00Speaker 6: idea what was happening. I heard somebody from the Philly say,
- 27:05Speaker 6: we won't do we won't do any we won't do
- 27:08Speaker 6: any trades with the White Sox because of the Garcia trade.
- 27:12Speaker 5: And I was like, what happened?
- 27:13Speaker 6: And he told me, and I was like, okay, But
- 27:15Speaker 6: this was five plus years after that.
- 27:18Speaker 5: They don't they don't forget.
- 27:20Speaker 6: It's like until that person's out of that position, we're
- 27:23Speaker 6: not making a move because people don't trust them, or
- 27:26Speaker 6: you know, whatever happened with Anthopolis and Shapiro. Hey, I
- 27:30Speaker 6: won't work for you. You know that's that's real. These
- 27:33Speaker 6: moves are will sometimes it's robots and analytics and computers.
- 27:38Speaker 6: These moves are made by humans. And you have to
- 27:40Speaker 6: trust the person that you're getting, you know, the player
- 27:43Speaker 6: that you're getting from that team.
- 27:47Speaker 1: December sixth, two thousand and six, that was when the
- 27:51Speaker 1: trade went down.
- 27:52Speaker 4: I nailed that pretty good about myself. I nailed that,
- 27:56Speaker 4: I said for two thousands.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Still got it better than yours, is better than mine.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I'll I'll tell you that.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Freddie Garcia of the Phillies for Gavin Floyd and
- 28:06Speaker 1: Geoe Gonzalez.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I forgot Gavin Floyd came over now. But I remember
- 28:10Speaker 4: Geo because the White Sox traded drafted Geo traded him
- 28:15Speaker 4: for Jim Tolemy, got him back for Freddy, and then
- 28:18Speaker 4: traded him to Oakland for Swisher, And he didn't pitch
- 28:20Speaker 4: for I don't know if you ever pitched for the
- 28:22Speaker 4: White Sox until later on in his career, but he
- 28:24Speaker 4: never like he came up originally, and they he had
- 28:28Speaker 4: been traded like three times from and away from the
- 28:31Speaker 4: White Sox without ever pitching for him.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Grudges are real. They are.
- 28:38Speaker 1: And also there are ownership grudges that we probably don't
- 28:43Speaker 1: even know about, and those are the most real. Do
- 28:45Speaker 1: you want to know why? Because they are allowed to
- 28:48Speaker 1: act with emotion. Most front offices have to shove a
- 28:52Speaker 1: lot of that aside, but then when it comes to
- 28:54Speaker 1: actually getting approval, the owner has to be okay with
- 28:58Speaker 1: that move, right. That's why the division thing happens all
- 29:01Speaker 1: the time, because if you're an owner of a team,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you're feeling the most affected by and paying the most
- 29:07Speaker 1: attention to what's going on in your division. I would
- 29:09Speaker 1: say more so than the front office. Would you agree
- 29:12Speaker 1: with that? Aj Like, if you're an owner of a team,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you're telling your front office, hey, be careful here. I
- 29:18Speaker 1: don't want to be known as the guy that helped
- 29:20Speaker 1: a team in our division, while the front office is going, hey,
- 29:22Speaker 1: they're giving us the best offer. I want whatever's going
- 29:25Speaker 1: to help our team up its value a little bit
- 29:28Speaker 1: over the next few years.
- 29:30Speaker 4: You mean the Jerry reins Worf won't trade in his division?
- 29:32Speaker 4: Was that last year?
- 29:33Speaker 5: We heard that rumor?
- 29:34Speaker 4: And then he's like, that's absolutely not true, But they
- 29:37Speaker 4: still don't think. And they also had a thing where
- 29:39Speaker 4: they would never trade with the Cubs for a long time.
- 29:40Speaker 4: But I think that one's passed also, So I don't know. Yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 4: do I think it's yes? We're human being Scott. How
- 29:46Speaker 4: many times I go to say this? People are human,
- 29:48Speaker 4: This is a human game. This is not just fantasy land.
- 29:51Speaker 4: There's human feelings of all there's I mean, listen, I
- 29:54Speaker 4: remember for years the White Sox had a thing, we
- 29:56Speaker 4: will not take a Scott Boris client because they didn't
- 29:58Speaker 4: want to deal with Scott Boris. And that was because
- 30:00Speaker 4: he screwed him over I don't even remember what it was.
- 30:02Speaker 4: Some somewhere along the way a draft pick got messed
- 30:04Speaker 4: up and he didn't sign or something. So the Whites
- 30:07Speaker 4: actually screw him. He's impossible to deal with him. They
- 30:09Speaker 4: wouldn't get a Boris player. So, I mean, stuff happens.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that only works for a little bit of time
- 30:15Speaker 1: until you look at pre agency and you're like, uh,
- 30:19Speaker 1: there's a lot of guys that we would not be
- 30:22Speaker 1: able to call about it is. I mean that stuff
- 30:25Speaker 1: gets a little soft hey there. That occurs when owners
- 30:30Speaker 1: get affected by thinking they have a player and then
- 30:33Speaker 1: feeling as if name that agent you know, used him
- 30:37Speaker 1: for leverage, and it's like, I'm sorry, that's how the
- 30:39Speaker 1: free agency game works, you know, and they get personally
- 30:41Speaker 1: mad about it. I actually I think the Mets got
- 30:43Speaker 1: mad about wasn't it. Wasn't it Stephen Mattz that that
- 30:46Speaker 1: Cohen talked about a little bit years back. There's something there.
- 30:51Speaker 1: If one of you talk, I'll find it in five seconds.
- 30:53Speaker 1: But there was something there where there was a little
- 30:56Speaker 1: free agent dance. I think it was Matts. Yes, yes,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I found it. Cohen publicly criticized Stephen Mattz's agent in
- 31:07Speaker 1: November twenty twenty one after he chose to sign a
- 31:10Speaker 1: four year, forty four million dollar contract with the Cardinals
- 31:13Speaker 1: instead of returning to the Mets. He said he had
- 31:16Speaker 1: never seen such unprofessional behavior exhibited by a player's agent,
- 31:19Speaker 1: adding that words and promises don't matter. Agent Rob Martin
- 31:25Speaker 1: defended the decision, stating Matts loved his time, made the
- 31:28Speaker 1: best choice for his family after multiple competitive offers. I mean,
- 31:31Speaker 1: I was totally on Matt's side on this one. Like what,
- 31:34Speaker 1: you didn't have a deal done? I mean, Boba Schett
- 31:36Speaker 1: didn't have a deal done with the Phillies. You can
- 31:38Speaker 1: have a conversation. You can go over parameters if another
- 31:41Speaker 1: team wants to match that, It's called free agency. Most
- 31:44Speaker 1: players have to wait a decade to get there. It's
- 31:46Speaker 1: part of the game.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Look, I had this happen. I had this exact thing
- 31:50Speaker 4: happened to me one time. I mean not to the
- 31:52Speaker 4: point where I had, you know, people mad at me.
- 31:54Speaker 4: But in twenty ten, I was a free agent before
- 31:57Speaker 4: the twenty eleven season in I thought I was to
- 32:00Speaker 4: be a Dodger. I called my mom and said, hey,
- 32:02Speaker 4: I'm going to be a Dodger. We had gotten to
- 32:04Speaker 4: the point where literally it was done. All that was
- 32:07Speaker 4: waiting was Frank McCort was on a plane flying somewhere.
- 32:11Speaker 4: And he was on a plane and Ned Coletti, the
- 32:14Speaker 4: GM of the Dodgers, said hey, do we have a deal.
- 32:16Speaker 4: My agent said, once McCord finalizes it, i'll call it
- 32:20Speaker 4: AJ and finished this deal up. And in that time
- 32:24Speaker 4: before we said yes, in that time, the White Sox
- 32:26Speaker 4: called and said, hey, we'll offer you a two year deal.
- 32:29Speaker 4: It was for less money, but do you want to
- 32:30Speaker 4: come back? And I took it. So, yeah, it happens.
- 32:33Speaker 4: It happens now. I remember Jermaine die before he signed
- 32:36Speaker 4: with the White Sox in the two thousand and four.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Before the two thousand and five season, he agreed to
- 32:40Speaker 4: a deal with the White Sox. Another team came in
- 32:43Speaker 4: and said, hey, we'll give you more money. He said, oh, guys, sorry,
- 32:45Speaker 4: it's too late. I already agreed to terms. So I
- 32:47Speaker 4: give him a ton of credit for honoring his word.
- 32:49Speaker 4: And like I said, if I would have agreed and
- 32:52Speaker 4: said yes to my agent, yes, let's be a Dodger,
- 32:55Speaker 4: I would have not been able to say yes to
- 32:57Speaker 4: the White Sox because I would not have been able
- 32:59Speaker 4: to honestly looked myself and I screwed this team. And
- 33:03Speaker 4: luckily for me, I had not gotten to that point.
- 33:06Speaker 4: But it was. It was. We were fourth, we were
- 33:08Speaker 4: first and goal on the half yard line, and we
- 33:10Speaker 4: had Jalen Hurts ready to do the the you know,
- 33:12Speaker 4: the tush push four times to get in to win
- 33:14Speaker 4: the Super Bowl.
- 33:16Speaker 2: And you felt loyalty to the White Sox.
- 33:19Speaker 4: Yeah, but still, I mean, if I had already said yes,
- 33:21Speaker 4: I wouldn't have It wouldn't have mattered. It wouldn't have
- 33:23Speaker 4: mattered to me because I would have felt awful. Because
- 33:26Speaker 4: you know, if I say yes to something. I try
- 33:29Speaker 4: to keep my word.
- 33:30Speaker 2: To it right.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Well.
- 33:33Speaker 1: In conclusion, the Blue Jays and Braves might make a
- 33:36Speaker 1: deal or they might not. And if they don't, we
- 33:39Speaker 1: could hear more about this, but it was a great
- 33:41Speaker 1: point by the Hammer Territory crew and by Ken and
- 33:43Speaker 1: lastly on the Blue Jays front. Adding injury to injury,
- 33:48Speaker 1: Bladdy Junior was removed from last night's game with right
- 33:52Speaker 1: hamstring tightness.
- 33:53Speaker 2: He's been dealing with the back this season.
- 33:55Speaker 1: That's been the word on what's going on with him,
- 33:58Speaker 1: just sapping the power.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I guess yes. Ah.
- 34:01Speaker 1: He was so freaking good in the playoffs last year.
- 34:05Speaker 1: They could not figure out how to get him out
- 34:07Speaker 1: and he was the complete player good kind of like
- 34:09Speaker 1: how we see you guard an operas this year where
- 34:12Speaker 1: it's hit tool and its power tool at the elite level.
- 34:15Speaker 3: H he was.
- 34:16Speaker 4: He was that player. Remember a couple years ago when
- 34:18Speaker 4: he said that was just the opening act. I'm gonna
- 34:20Speaker 4: win the Oscar or whatever MVP. And he's had spurts
- 34:23Speaker 4: where you see it and then it just goes away
- 34:25Speaker 4: and then like this year, he has the year where
- 34:27Speaker 4: there's no power. I don't know, I don't know. Maybe
- 34:29Speaker 4: the hamstring was bothering him. I don't know, but it's
- 34:33Speaker 4: been a rough year for the Blue Jays.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah, he gave him their money's worth though in October.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I mean that run for Toronto and October doesn't happen
- 34:41Speaker 1: without Bladdy Junior.
- 34:42Speaker 2: And I'm not saying it's.
- 34:43Speaker 1: An excuse for him to not play well the next
- 34:46Speaker 1: season and not have the pop and the pop at
- 34:48Speaker 1: home and all of that. But this is looking like
- 34:50Speaker 1: a last year for Toronto. The Classic World Series, hangover
- 34:54Speaker 1: situation going on, and they're what around ten games under
- 34:57Speaker 1: five hundred. This is an opportunity, though, Kratz, I think
- 35:00Speaker 1: you look at Toronto and say, Okay, there's three to
- 35:03Speaker 1: five pieces that they can get some significant, significant return on.
- 35:06Speaker 1: It's a team that needs to do a little farm
- 35:08Speaker 1: system replenishing.
- 35:10Speaker 2: And I don't think there's.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Anybody that doubts they can be a serious contender again
- 35:14Speaker 1: next year.
- 35:15Speaker 6: Because they're going to try to be a contender, just
- 35:17Speaker 6: like they tried to be a contender this offseason. And
- 35:19Speaker 6: maybe they falsely evaluated their roster based on the run
- 35:25Speaker 6: that they made last year and they didn't realize, Hey,
- 35:28Speaker 6: you know what, George probably isn't going to have the
- 35:31Speaker 6: same year. Now they have to replace that is I'm
- 35:36Speaker 6: completely forgetting Santander. Is he going to be able to
- 35:39Speaker 6: step into that role that they paid him two years
- 35:41Speaker 6: ago to be next year.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Because that's still in the contract. Is Barger going to
- 35:46Speaker 5: be there?
- 35:47Speaker 6: All those things they have to evaluate, and they have
- 35:49Speaker 6: to evaluate it here at this trade deadline, and I
- 35:52Speaker 6: think I think they have the chance to have a
- 35:55Speaker 6: lot of value that they can trade. But you Adviti's
- 35:58Speaker 6: back only hurt in Toronto? Is that why he has
- 36:01Speaker 6: zero home runs in Toronto? Which is a crazy stat.
- 36:05Speaker 6: But if it is, is the turf going to be
- 36:09Speaker 6: getting to Vladdie and start breaking his body down? All
- 36:12Speaker 6: those things need to be evaluated and taken into next
- 36:15Speaker 6: offseason because this this year's cooked, especially after the trade
- 36:18Speaker 6: deadline up.
- 36:18Speaker 5: I won't even watch a Jay's game.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Right, they might trade Gosman, they might trade they should
- 36:24Speaker 1: trade bar Show, Right, he's a free agent after this year.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Bardrie said the surgery the other day, there's going to
- 36:29Speaker 1: be a different looking roster heading into next season, but
- 36:32Speaker 1: there's still a good core there and it does start
- 36:34Speaker 1: with Flatty Junior. Flatty Junior looks MVPSH. It's a totally
- 36:37Speaker 1: different ball club.
- 36:39Speaker 2: All right, good?
- 36:42Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I mean Cease is one of the best signings of
- 36:44Speaker 1: the off season. I don't know if you were on
- 36:46Speaker 1: the other day, but we were talking about oh yeah,
- 36:48Speaker 1: it was Monday, coming off the CG one twenty Pitch
- 36:52Speaker 1: Gem and Fenway Park. Dylan Ceese has been freaking awesome
- 36:56Speaker 1: this year and continues the durability train that is still
- 37:00Speaker 1: very underrated in our sport.
- 37:02Speaker 6: The thing I don't like about the Jay's not doing
- 37:04Speaker 6: well is this is when the rest of the league,
- 37:06Speaker 6: the analytically driven teams go see, see just making contact
- 37:12Speaker 6: doesn't really play. Yes, they caught a heater last year.
- 37:16Speaker 6: This doesn't play. This type of baseball doesn't play. You know,
- 37:19Speaker 6: it's an easy cherry pick of see the Brewers lose
- 37:23Speaker 6: in the NLCS, this type of this type of baseball
- 37:27Speaker 6: doesn't play. So that that's the thing that I like.
- 37:31Speaker 6: I bristle at when these types of seasons happen.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's one of those criticism games. See not
- 37:41Speaker 1: enough power, Okay, well, oh willia domis thirty homers in
- 37:45Speaker 1: San Francisco.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Well, he's not good enough either. We don't like this, this,
- 37:47Speaker 2: and that, like, Okay, there.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Are a few flawless players, very few flawless players in
- 37:52Speaker 1: the sport.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Totally yeah, gotta love that.
- 37:55Speaker 5: I can't think of any Honestly.
- 37:57Speaker 2: No, everyone's perfect.
- 37:59Speaker 4: I mean if you no, I'm saying I can't think
- 38:01Speaker 4: of any any flawless players.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I was not chartistic.
- 38:06Speaker 5: Oh, I know.
- 38:10Speaker 6: He sucks in the he sucked the defense. Oh he
- 38:13Speaker 6: can't stay healthy. Show hey, show Hey might be flawless.
- 38:17Speaker 6: I'm just gonna say it, showy show injury.
- 38:20Speaker 2: That's the closest.
- 38:23Speaker 5: You can't.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Can't, dude, can't pitch.
- 38:26Speaker 5: I love that. I love that conversation.
- 38:28Speaker 6: We won't get into it, but the he's he may
- 38:30Speaker 6: not win the m v P because he's not pitching
- 38:32Speaker 6: right now.
- 38:33Speaker 5: I love it. I love that conversation.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Say that it's a it's an August combo.
