- 0:49Speaker 4: You know, you know that those those things are a
- 0:51Speaker 4: big part of the show.
- 0:52Speaker 6: That's right right.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Good morning, Welcome to track Cast. Good morning, It's Most Unpredictable.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Start Trek podcast.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I'm Dan, I'm Dan. That's Daniel. That's Scott for the

- 1:30Speaker 4: You gotta put you gotta put the work in if
- 1:32Speaker 4: you want to put out a quality product.
- 1:36Speaker 5: It's all about it you and I will tell them
- 1:42Speaker 5: all about.
- 1:44Speaker 6: For the show.
- 1:46Speaker 1: People ask me sometimes when.
- 1:51Speaker 4: When it comes up in conversation that I have a podcast,
- 1:55Speaker 4: how many how many followers do you have?
- 1:58Speaker 6: I don't know how.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Many episodes have you done? I mean, we've been doing
- 2:03Speaker 1: it for years a lot.
- 2:06Speaker 5: How many How do you do a podcast? I said,
- 2:08Speaker 5: you click on a link.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Yeah, Daniel sends me the thing, and I click on
- 2:13Speaker 4: the thing, and then I talk about the stuff.
- 2:16Speaker 5: And then I'll be honest with you. Half the time
- 2:18Speaker 5: that we're talking, I forget we're doing a produced podcast,
- 2:22Speaker 5: Like I just think that we're just three produced I
- 2:30Speaker 5: just think there were just three dudes talking about track.
- 2:33Speaker 7: Who is this getting the broadcast somewhere somewhere somewhere out there.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I mean, you know, the three people that have told
- 2:42Speaker 4: me they like the show, that's That's what they've said though,
- 2:46Speaker 4: that they like about it is that it's it's just,
- 2:49Speaker 4: you know, three guys talking about stuff.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's good. We have a small audience of
- 2:56Speaker 2: three guys.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Bob, Joe, and Jim. This one's for you.
- 3:04Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So how do you produce it?
- 3:06Speaker 6: I don't know. I just show up, like I said,
- 3:11Speaker 6: click on the link.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Oh are you guys doing?
- 3:17Speaker 5: What are we doing here today?
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh? We got a bunch of news stories and then
- 3:21Speaker 2: we're going to talk about the third episode of season
- 3:24Speaker 2: three of Strange New Worlds Magical.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Okay, but there's.
- 3:30Speaker 2: A lot of news that came out of San Diego
- 3:33Speaker 2: Comic Con yesterday.
- 3:34Speaker 6: So okay, let's do it then.
- 3:37Speaker 2: All right, well, let's let's get.
- 3:38Speaker 6: To it Star Trek news.
- 3:42Speaker 2: All right. So I kind of feel like this is
- 3:45Speaker 2: the more important story. So we'll get to the San
- 3:46Speaker 2: Diego Comic Con first in a moment, but first, since
- 3:55Speaker 2: this may, uh, this may definitely change the future of
- 3:58Speaker 2: Star Trek, so I want to bring this our first
- 4:01Speaker 2: new story. Comes to us from the BBC, the British
- 4:04Speaker 2: Broadcasting Company. I believe that's what that stands for. But
- 4:07Speaker 2: the US FCC clears eight billion sky Dance Paramount merger.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So the merger was approved earlier this week between sky
- 4:19Speaker 2: Dance and Paramount for eight billion dollars. This has been
- 4:24Speaker 2: the long, disputed, long just stating so many lawsuits and
- 4:29Speaker 2: negotiations and whatever, but finally we're near the finish line.
- 4:33Speaker 2: The merger is set to be completed on August seventh.
- 4:38Speaker 2: So now that they've got the approval, now it's just
- 4:41Speaker 2: harring out all the paperwork and getting it to go
- 4:43Speaker 2: through all the whatevers. But this could be a big,
- 4:48Speaker 2: big change for Paramount in the future than for Star Trek.
- 4:54Speaker 2: One of the things I was looking at, especially for
- 4:57Speaker 2: Star Trek, is when they negotiated and brought on Alex Kurtzman.
- 5:05Speaker 2: His deal is through calendar year of twenty twenty six,
- 5:09Speaker 2: That's what was originally reported, So so we have him
- 5:13Speaker 2: the rest of this year and all of next year.
- 5:16Speaker 2: There has not been any discussions about resigning him yet,
- 5:20Speaker 2: at least not publicly. And when he signed he signed
- 5:24Speaker 2: for it was like a like an eight figure deal,
- 5:28Speaker 2: nine figure deal something like that. M he made a
- 5:33Speaker 2: lot of money.
- 5:35Speaker 4: So I'm not saying I'm hoping this happens. I'm just
- 5:41Speaker 4: putting this out, putting this out there that if they
- 5:47Speaker 4: decide they want to go a different direction than this
- 5:52Speaker 4: upcoming Starfleet Academy that we that we just saw a
- 5:57Speaker 4: teaser for, yeah, they could totally back girl that thing
- 6:02Speaker 4: and we will never see it.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I wondered if that would happen. I have a feeling
- 6:09Speaker 2: it's possible. Yeah, I mean, yeah, Warner showed him the
- 6:16Speaker 2: way to save money.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of the a lot of the
- 6:23Speaker 4: decisions they've they've made leading up to this merger have
- 6:28Speaker 4: been to save money, you know, regardless of of of
- 6:34Speaker 4: what the talking heads on the internet will tell you, uh, Stephen, Colbert's.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Show is not profitable.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes, it was the number one late night
- 6:46Speaker 4: television show or late night talk show.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But that means you were the least.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Nonprofitable, right them, of the four or five or whatever
- 6:58Speaker 4: whatever there are.
- 6:59Speaker 5: You know, Yeah, Kimmel fallon Colbert, They're they're on their
- 7:02Speaker 5: way out.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a dying thing. You know.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Young people don't stay up late to watch talk shows.
- 7:11Speaker 1: They just don't do that. They watched the clips.
- 7:15Speaker 4: They watched the clips the next morning while they're while
- 7:17Speaker 4: they're sipping their coffee. I couldn't tell you the last
- 7:21Speaker 4: time I watched late night television, you know. And this
- 7:24Speaker 4: this idea that this idea the president had him canceled.
- 7:28Speaker 4: It's like, come on, man, just stop.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It's possible. But it also like it's it's.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Not a shred of evidence, not a single shread.
- 7:40Speaker 2: What I'm getting to is TV is evolving anyways, the
- 7:45Speaker 2: whole business model is evolving. You cannot do these giant
- 7:48Speaker 2: contracts anymore. They're just not sustainable. So there's even like
- 7:53Speaker 2: we've been saying this for years, but even paramount plus
- 7:57Speaker 2: people have been talking about like it needs to merge
- 7:59Speaker 2: with somebody else because the streamer itself just doesn't make
- 8:02Speaker 2: enough money to be around. So it's we will see
- 8:08Speaker 2: what they do. But sky Dance. Sky Dance has probably
- 8:11Speaker 2: got some interesting ideas that we know nothing about yet
- 8:14Speaker 2: and we will hear about soon. So there you go.
- 8:17Speaker 4: It's just such, it's just such an unpredictable time. I
- 8:22Speaker 4: see I see these AI generated videos and and you know,
- 8:29Speaker 4: basically at this point, the only thing wrong with them
- 8:32Speaker 4: is the lip syncing is off.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And that's just a matter of time. Just a matter
- 8:39Speaker 1: of time, you know.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I I I think like I think back to like
- 8:44Speaker 4: three years ago, just three years ago or two years
- 8:47Speaker 4: whatever it was we were putting in text based prompts,
- 8:51Speaker 4: show me a picture of such and such, and it
- 8:53Speaker 4: was it was spitting out like the elephant man in
- 8:56Speaker 4: a in a in a starfleet uniform, right, and now.
- 9:01Speaker 5: We're yeah, and it was me it was yeah, miss,
- 9:05Speaker 5: And now.
- 9:07Speaker 4: You know we're getting photorealistic.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean, Jesus Christ.
- 9:10Speaker 4: I looked at I looked at photos this morning of
- 9:14Speaker 4: Ozzy Osborne's funeral, and then I'm like, oh, that didn't that.
- 9:17Speaker 6: Didn't actually happen.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, which.
- 9:21Speaker 4: You know, on the other hand, was once I realized
- 9:25Speaker 4: that they were AI generated. That's incredibly disrespectful right to
- 9:30Speaker 4: the family too, you know, digitally create a funeral before.
- 9:34Speaker 1: It even happens. I mean, what are we doing?
- 9:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm glad you brought that up part of that up,
- 9:40Speaker 5: but if you don't, if I can have thirty seconds
- 9:43Speaker 5: on kind of a somuch about AI and I want
- 9:46Speaker 5: to I want to say that I predict it now
- 9:49Speaker 5: so you guys can can archive this that Scott predicted
- 9:52Speaker 5: this now, because I've talked about this before about you know,
- 9:56Speaker 5: when we talked about this before. I think I said,
- 9:58Speaker 5: in ten years, will be able to say, hey, uh uh,
- 10:02Speaker 5: Chad GBT, I want a forty two minute long episode
- 10:07Speaker 5: of Star Trek d Space nine, Season eight, episode one,
- 10:11Speaker 5: and maybe give it a few you know, And I said,
- 10:13Speaker 5: in about ten years, we will not be able to
- 10:16Speaker 5: distinguish it from a you know, I want it in
- 10:18Speaker 5: the original aspect ratio. I want. I want a great
- 10:21Speaker 5: I want it to look exact. I want to be
- 10:22Speaker 5: able to watch what we leave behind and then the
- 10:27Speaker 5: next episode and not know that I transition to anything.
- 10:32Speaker 5: And I think that's gonna happen in three years or
- 10:35Speaker 5: two years.
- 10:36Speaker 4: And not only is that gonna happen, you're gonna be
- 10:38Speaker 4: able to say, give me period specific commercials during.
- 10:41Speaker 5: The works, right exactly, and you know, and whatever you
- 10:44Speaker 5: want you want ALF season five, you're gonna get ALF
- 10:47Speaker 5: season five. Now here's and we've talked about this before.
- 10:50Speaker 5: What we haven't talked about. I don't think is the
- 10:53Speaker 5: legal ramifications is. I think in the next three years
- 10:55Speaker 5: there's gonna be a giant news media eagle kind of
- 11:01Speaker 5: thing where every headline is going to be based around
- 11:04Speaker 5: should I, as an individual consumer, be able to tell
- 11:08Speaker 5: chat GBT let me see D Phase nine Season eight,
- 11:12Speaker 5: episode one, and will it allow me to do that?
- 11:14Speaker 5: Will it allow me to use somebody else's likeness is
- 11:17Speaker 5: in the in the safety and confines of my own home,
- 11:21Speaker 5: not broadcasting.
- 11:23Speaker 2: You know what's gonna happen. It's going to be like
- 11:26Speaker 2: our theory about the replicators, right. You can say, hey,
- 11:29Speaker 2: I want to see these public domain characters in a show,
- 11:33Speaker 2: and it'll do it. But hey, I want to see
- 11:36Speaker 2: you know, Star Trek combined with you know, the xenomorph aliens,
- 11:41Speaker 2: and it'll be like, oh great, do you want to
- 11:42Speaker 2: pay extra toy and unlock those characters.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Right, But there is going to be a napster area.
- 11:51Speaker 5: There's gonna be this like Napster time where it's going
- 11:56Speaker 5: to be a free for all.
- 11:57Speaker 2: It's going to be you know, and and that's when
- 12:00Speaker 2: might be in it.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Now.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I think we're at the beginnings of it. And I
- 12:03Speaker 5: wish I could figure out a way to make money
- 12:06Speaker 5: off of this prediction, because that's what I pict this
- 12:08Speaker 5: is going to be.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Right, Well, the whole the whole crux of the situation
- 12:12Speaker 4: is you're not allowed to make money off of it
- 12:14Speaker 4: because it's somebody else's stuff.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Well, I wish I could make money off of knowing
- 12:19Speaker 5: the future. Knowing the future that within the next thirty
- 12:22Speaker 5: six months, this is going to be the biggest headline,
- 12:25Speaker 5: uh you know, of of of aos.
- 12:28Speaker 4: So what you need to do you need to create
- 12:31Speaker 4: the AI napster and then sell it to somebody else
- 12:35Speaker 4: before before the law catches up.
- 12:38Speaker 1: That's it, right.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Figure out what yeah exactly, we need to figure out
- 12:42Speaker 5: what we can do before the law catches up and
- 12:45Speaker 5: make our make our millions that way. Don't don't worry,
- 12:48Speaker 5: I'll a rising tide rises all ships.
- 12:51Speaker 2: So I'll raise the financial advice.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Thought you want to get out of by the host
- 13:00Speaker 4: sutrack cast are not necessarily.
- 13:05Speaker 5: Go to Go to trekcast dot com, go to the
- 13:07Speaker 5: merch section and get the merch.
- 13:09Speaker 2: You know, the more.
- 13:14Speaker 4: You know, we're gonna be out of a job, because
- 13:16Speaker 4: it's gonna come to the point where it's just gonna
- 13:17Speaker 4: be three A I s talking to each other about
- 13:20Speaker 4: about stuffy. I mean it'll start small. It'll start small
- 13:23Speaker 4: to be like, oh, dance on here today. Uh you know,
- 13:26Speaker 4: he's got a karate tournament in Albany. All right, well,
- 13:30Speaker 4: engage the emergency the d h d HS online.
- 13:37Speaker 2: We have done enough shows that there is there is
- 13:40Speaker 2: already a program where you can like needed a bunch
- 13:44Speaker 2: of episodes of a podcast and one. So yeah, we've
- 13:48Speaker 2: done enough that we could do that.
- 13:50Speaker 6: All right.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Well that's a lout, Yeah yeah, all right, Well let's
- 13:55Speaker 2: get to the next story because as long as we're
- 13:58Speaker 2: still here at least. Sorry. Next story comes to us
- 14:01Speaker 2: from Entertainment Weekly and they have got some previews of
- 14:08Speaker 2: the new Starfleet Academy show, which was they sent out
- 14:12Speaker 2: a trailer yesterday. Yeah, Dan was very excited about this.
- 14:17Speaker 2: We got a bunch of screenshots from it, because if
- 14:19Speaker 2: we sear the trailer, paramount goes nuts. But one of
- 14:24Speaker 2: the big things that has been a much discussion on
- 14:28Speaker 2: the internet is one that we were talking about in
- 14:30Speaker 2: our Facebook group, and I think Dan knows what I'm
- 14:33Speaker 2: getting at. Is this lady, this character our this this
- 14:40Speaker 2: is we don't know the name of the character yet,
- 14:43Speaker 2: but she is a a gem hitar klingon hybrid. Is
- 14:50Speaker 2: that if you remember, is that.
- 14:53Speaker 5: True or is that.
- 14:55Speaker 2: They have said that?
- 14:56Speaker 5: Yes, they have said that.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Okay, And if you look at her, if you look
- 15:02Speaker 2: at her uniform, there the little pattering on on that
- 15:06Speaker 2: that you see, like on her chest and neck and
- 15:08Speaker 2: all that they're cling on emblems.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Okay. So you know, I had so many jokes for
- 15:16Speaker 5: that that I wanted to put on the track cast
- 15:17Speaker 5: you page, and none of them, none of them didn't
- 15:21Speaker 5: and not by design, but none of them didn't sound
- 15:24Speaker 5: kind of racist. So I decided I'm gonna leave that alone.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I think one of them was that I had
- 15:34Speaker 5: to clean up quite a bit. But you know, I'll
- 15:36Speaker 5: give you some catchers all white, give me a white.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Oh no, your mom watches the show.
- 15:45Speaker 6: I know, so.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Jim Hadar are.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Genderless beings that don't eat, they don't sleep, they don't
- 16:03Speaker 4: they don't reproduce.
- 16:04Speaker 1: They're grown in a lamb.
- 16:07Speaker 2: So and they specifically say in Das nine there are
- 16:10Speaker 2: no geminar females all.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yes, So how is how is this a thing?
- 16:15Speaker 6: Okay?
- 16:16Speaker 2: I have a theory, and I tell you, I'm gonna
- 16:18Speaker 2: tell you this right now. Whatever I'm about to tell you,
- 16:23Speaker 2: I've thought about it more. Then they will even mention
- 16:25Speaker 2: it on the show. They're just gonna do it and
- 16:28Speaker 2: not even mention it.
- 16:30Speaker 6: But my theory is, I have a theory.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Gohad Okay, they're going to say something along the lines that, yes,
- 16:38Speaker 2: there have always been geminar females. It's that because they
- 16:42Speaker 2: were in a war, they would just destroy those embryos
- 16:45Speaker 2: before they can fully develop them, because they just went
- 16:49Speaker 2: in soldiers. And they also wanted control over the geminar.
- 16:52Speaker 2: So the geminar had females in order to build reproduce
- 16:56Speaker 2: on their own, then the dominion had less control over them.
- 16:59Speaker 6: Mm hmm.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Yeah, so they probably always existed. They weren't just the
- 17:03Speaker 5: Gemodars a species weren't created in the lab by the founders.
- 17:09Speaker 1: That goes against everything that they've established.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Who established by having the founders say it, it's not
- 17:17Speaker 5: like the founders would have been completely honest.
- 17:21Speaker 4: So the other option is this is, uh, they listened
- 17:24Speaker 4: to this show, they know how popular tuvix is and
- 17:28Speaker 4: this is a this is a two situation.
- 17:32Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I would love that too. So they also released a
- 17:38Speaker 2: trailer for the show. They released a few trailers. We
- 17:41Speaker 2: also got a trailer for the con audio drama that's
- 17:44Speaker 2: coming out that was kind of fun. I don't know
- 17:46Speaker 2: if you guys watched that trailer.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I plan on listening to it pod. I thought
- 17:54Speaker 5: it was gonna be an audiobook.
- 17:55Speaker 6: It's it's it's.
- 17:56Speaker 2: It's a podcast. Yeah. So each episode is a chapter
- 17:59Speaker 2: in the story, so it's like a nineteen twenties radio play.
- 18:03Speaker 6: So we don't have to pay for it.
- 18:05Speaker 2: No, no, no, They've done Wonder Brothers has done this
- 18:07Speaker 2: with like Batman and The Flash, So.
- 18:11Speaker 4: See, i'd I'd be more interested in seeing that as
- 18:15Speaker 4: a TV show than this.
- 18:19Speaker 1: But you know, they don't listen to me.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And number one even on all the comments for everything
- 18:26Speaker 2: is like we want legacy.
- 18:27Speaker 5: So yeah, I know we've been screaming that for the
- 18:31Speaker 5: last four years.
- 18:33Speaker 1: They could have done this.
- 18:35Speaker 4: They could have done this show in the twenty fifth century,
- 18:37Speaker 4: right and continued and continued the story that everyone's interested in. Instead, instead,
- 18:44Speaker 4: we're getting Discovery season six or whatever. I don't know
- 18:47Speaker 4: how many seasons of Discovery, whether five, five, five, yep.
- 18:54Speaker 5: What do you guys think about the doctor?
- 18:57Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, he's in there, And how how do you.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Think they're gonna explain his I think a simple I'm
- 19:03Speaker 5: glad that that Pacardo, but I'm glad Robert Riccardo is
- 19:08Speaker 5: going to be in it, and you know, they can
- 19:11Speaker 5: explain it away with a one or two liner, you know,
- 19:14Speaker 5: And that's fine with me. But I did have a
- 19:16Speaker 5: theory about what doctor this is, and I think a
- 19:20Speaker 5: lot of fans have come up with this theory about
- 19:22Speaker 5: that that is not the original EMH that went home
- 19:25Speaker 5: with Voyager. That's the backup copy they got left behind
- 19:30Speaker 5: on that planet where they did the I don't remember
- 19:35Speaker 5: the name of the episode.
- 19:36Speaker 6: It was like a season.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Four episode where he gets reactivated and he's turned It's
- 19:46Speaker 5: the one where they think that Voyager was like this
- 19:48Speaker 5: war warship and the museum in the museum exactly, yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 5: and then and then and then it fast that's like
- 19:56Speaker 5: three hundred years in the future. And then the events
- 19:59Speaker 5: have happened during the episode, and then they go like
- 20:02Speaker 5: another three hundred years in the future, and then they
- 20:04Speaker 5: talk about how the doctor became their medical czar or whatever.
- 20:08Speaker 5: And then and then curiosity made him want to go
- 20:13Speaker 5: go go to the Federation. Oh, I think.
- 20:18Speaker 2: So we have a comment real quick, we'll see there
- 20:22Speaker 2: there's that warning warning nerd alert, nerd alert. Yeah, whatever.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I'm wondering if you're gonna say Granted, they could just say,
- 20:37Speaker 2: oh I updated my looks. That's why. Look, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I want more in mind now that I'm but I
- 20:47Speaker 2: wonder if you're gonna say that in one of.
- 20:49Speaker 6: Those mm hmm.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I can barely hear you. I don't know if
- 21:00Speaker 1: it's you or me.
- 21:01Speaker 5: No, it's it's it's him. He always gets muffled when
- 21:04Speaker 5: he's scrolling.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Hello. Can you hear me now? Yeah?
- 21:08Speaker 6: Right now?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, So I was saying, I wonder if they're
- 21:11Speaker 2: gonna say that they put the doctor in a card body.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 4: So there's there's so many different things could be going
- 21:19Speaker 4: on here. This This could be the doctor we know
- 21:21Speaker 4: from seven years on Voyager. This could be the doctor
- 21:24Speaker 4: from the the from the Delta Quadrant, the backup, the
- 21:30Speaker 4: backup version that Scott was talking about. This could be
- 21:34Speaker 4: any number of holograms that were scrubbing the pattern buffer
- 21:39Speaker 4: or mining di lithium or whatever the last time we
- 21:42Speaker 4: saw them. Or this could be all of them at
- 21:48Speaker 4: some point. At some point, you know, they they decide
- 21:54Speaker 4: at some point after Voyager returns and they determined that
- 21:58Speaker 4: this guy is is sentient. All those copies of his program,
- 22:02Speaker 4: they just merge them together, and that's the sky.
- 22:05Speaker 1: That's the sky right here.
- 22:07Speaker 6: I like that.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's all possible. It could be that they just say, oh,
- 22:13Speaker 2: it's the doctor from Voyager and never mention it again
- 22:16Speaker 2: and just keep going.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Yeah, they'll have to explain his aging. They'll have to
- 22:21Speaker 5: say that he decided that he wanted to look more
- 22:23Speaker 5: like his contemporaries, or yeah, yeah, he didn't want to
- 22:28Speaker 5: be known for having like vampire syndrome or something.
- 22:31Speaker 2: There you go.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like data set and all good things. I
- 22:34Speaker 5: thought a touch a gray would add an Arab distinction.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Mm hmm yeah, all right, and then our next news
- 22:42Speaker 2: story comes to us from CBR Comic Book Resources, and
- 22:49Speaker 2: we're exactly.
- 22:49Speaker 6: What that stands for.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Yeah, oh okay.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we are getting an update on Strange New Worlds
- 22:57Speaker 2: season four. So according to Anson Mounts, he posted on
- 23:05Speaker 2: Instagram the other day, they have rapped season four. They've
- 23:10Speaker 2: already done shooting it. Yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing that three years from now.
- 23:18Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. If ever, if the new paramount
- 23:23Speaker 2: doesn't mothballlet just say we've got a background this one.
- 23:26Speaker 2: We need the tax breaks. So yeah, so they have wrapped.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Also on Instagram, yesterday, I think it was yesterday, they
- 23:37Speaker 2: had the Star Trek panel at San Diego Comic Con
- 23:40Speaker 2: and Anton Mountain did not make it, and he posted
- 23:43Speaker 2: a video on Instagram. Yeah he did not make it
- 23:47Speaker 2: because they just had a second child.
- 23:51Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, okay.
- 23:53Speaker 1: So congratulations.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yea.
- 23:54Speaker 5: They were talking about that on he was on Michael
- 23:59Speaker 5: Rosenbaum Inside of You. That was a really good, really
- 24:03Speaker 5: good interview. I suggest anybody, Yeah, check that out. But
- 24:08Speaker 5: the so, I've been following the San Diego Comic Con
- 24:10Speaker 5: a little bit because the person who moderated the panel
- 24:15Speaker 5: for Garrett Wong that I when I went to a
- 24:17Speaker 5: couple of weeks ago. She's her name's Katie Nikolau. She's
- 24:22Speaker 5: actually a meteorologist for their local channel six. Yeah, so
- 24:27Speaker 5: we met and I actually met her over at the
- 24:30Speaker 5: Star Trek booth. Very cool, very energetic, and so I
- 24:33Speaker 5: started following her on Facebook. So she's at the San
- 24:36Speaker 5: Diego Comic Con, going to all the panels and stuff,
- 24:39Speaker 5: and it sounds like there's a lot of awesome energy
- 24:41Speaker 5: there and just just a lot of cool panels and
- 24:45Speaker 5: guests and all that kind of stuff. So she's been
- 24:47Speaker 5: giving updates on her Facebook page and said, everything's really
- 24:51Speaker 5: really great.
- 24:51Speaker 2: But do you think they'll show Pike's eventual faith un
- 24:57Speaker 2: strange in the worlds or will they leave it open?
- 24:59Speaker 6: They'll they have to, I have to.
- 25:06Speaker 4: So when you make a small talk with a meteorologist,
- 25:09Speaker 4: do you guys talk about the weather.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Or I made it a point. I made it a
- 25:14Speaker 5: very clear, concise, specific point not to mention the weather
- 25:18Speaker 5: at all.
- 25:19Speaker 4: I wouldn't be able to help myself be like cut
- 25:22Speaker 4: down in buckets out there.
- 25:25Speaker 7: You got this high pressure system and yeah, they when
- 25:31Speaker 7: when when when Verne introduced me to her and said,
- 25:34Speaker 7: this is the media you know, local blah blah blah blah.
- 25:36Speaker 5: As oh, you're the media school. That was the only
- 25:38Speaker 5: time we mentioned it, because I'm like, you know, if
- 25:41Speaker 5: you're a meteorologist or you're a dentist or you're you know,
- 25:46Speaker 5: you're inundated with oh I got the hung thing and
- 25:50Speaker 5: what's the weather like? And it's like, no, don't be
- 25:53Speaker 5: that guy, don't be that guy. I learned that lesson
- 25:57Speaker 5: when I went to uh we had this Dutch village
- 26:00Speaker 5: up in Holland, Michigan, and everybody who works as this
- 26:03Speaker 5: Dutch village, all the all the employees wear wooden shoes
- 26:07Speaker 5: and and I remember I remember like the first time
- 26:10Speaker 5: I went there, and I'm like, so, how comfortable is
- 26:14Speaker 5: it wearing those wooden shoes? And and I remember the
- 26:17Speaker 5: look she gave me, like here's the eleven thousandth time.
- 26:20Speaker 8: I'm gonna ask question today, And and.
- 26:22Speaker 5: It made me realize after that, I try not to
- 26:24Speaker 5: be so obvious with questions about obvious things like that.
- 26:28Speaker 5: You know, it's like, before I speak, have you been
- 26:31Speaker 5: asked this question nineteen thousand times in the last six minutes?
- 26:34Speaker 5: If so, I'm not gonna ask. So no, I did
- 26:37Speaker 5: not ask her about the weather. But Katie's cool, doesn't
- 26:41Speaker 5: I met her?
- 26:42Speaker 6: Uh, she's like she's she's out at the.
- 26:44Speaker 5: Comic Con San Diego giving a bunch of updates, and
- 26:46Speaker 5: so it sounds like the vibe is really cool out there,
- 26:48Speaker 5: and yeah, I'd like to go to San Diego Comic Con.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Sometimes it sounds like it's just bursting with nerd energy
- 26:57Speaker 5: and you know, all.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Right, and then our last news story, also from San
- 27:03Speaker 2: Diego Comic Con. This comes to us from Gizmoto, and
- 27:07Speaker 2: we have announcements from Nascel on some new Star Trek
- 27:11Speaker 2: action figures the next waves of their upcoming figures. So
- 27:15Speaker 2: they announced the year of Held Janeway, complete with action
- 27:19Speaker 2: figures sweatstains, so there you go. He always wanted a
- 27:23Speaker 2: sweaty action figure, finally get it.
- 27:25Speaker 6: Yeah, and the pocket Watch.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Yeah. So they showed the Janeway and they showed the
- 27:31Speaker 2: Nag part of Wave two. So these will come out
- 27:35Speaker 2: sooner than later, so that's very cool. We also have
- 27:40Speaker 2: got a preview for Wave three and four. So Wave
- 27:44Speaker 2: three we're gonna get pretty much the original series.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Okay, that's completely the opposite of what they said initially,
- 27:54Speaker 4: but and what we want.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Well, remember they said they got a bunch of feedback
- 27:59Speaker 2: and so that them change things. So so yeah, we'll
- 28:03Speaker 2: be getting Kirk's Bot, McCoy all the rest of them,
- 28:07Speaker 2: and then way before we're gonna get a Cisco okay,
- 28:14Speaker 2: and a black and white Tom Bearros apparently, but the.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Huh you're also going to get a certain.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Yeah did you get that thing that I said that gates.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Yeah, now it was getting uh dirty.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna get some ghost busting
- 28:42Speaker 2: for sure.
- 28:43Speaker 5: Oh boy, Yeah, it's gonna be some ghost busting all right.
- 28:47Speaker 2: And it's gonna come with the candle. She says, uh
- 28:51Speaker 2: yeahs yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 5: She's like, I afraid no ghost.
- 28:58Speaker 2: I I hope that when you ordered this skill, they
- 29:00Speaker 2: send you a thing that says your Cisco may arrive tomorrow,
- 29:03Speaker 2: your sister.
- 29:08Speaker 5: They have already arrived, yeah, yesterday.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:13Speaker 5: So I'm looking at the Tom Paris that looks like.
- 29:16Speaker 6: It's uh.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Tom Parris to okay, and I wonder if you think
- 29:23Speaker 5: the figure is probably gonna be black and white?
- 29:26Speaker 2: That's what I was gonna say, like, will it be?
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 29:30Speaker 2: I kind of hope.
- 29:31Speaker 5: So but I'll have to ask Robbie McNeil about that.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah, ask your buddy.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll just texting now, all right.
- 29:45Speaker 2: And then one more thing I wanted to bring up
- 29:48Speaker 2: just because. Yeah, anyways, so there's gonna be an extra
- 29:54Speaker 2: episode of trick Cast later this week. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I was able to last minute get something kind of
- 30:04Speaker 2: put together. I was able to interview Morgan j. He's
- 30:08Speaker 2: a comedian. You probably know him as the auto tune guy.
- 30:14Speaker 2: He's famous for this. I don't know if you've seen
- 30:16Speaker 2: this clip. Yeah. Anyways, he's got millions of followers online,
- 30:24Speaker 2: sells out all around the world. Is you know, on
- 30:28Speaker 2: and off tour all the time. So major Star Trek
- 30:31Speaker 2: fan though, Oh cool, giant giant Star Trek fan. So
- 30:36Speaker 2: we got to talk for quite a while and he
- 30:39Speaker 2: talked a lot about Star Trek what it means to him.
- 30:42Speaker 2: He also is very into sci fi and goes deep
- 30:45Speaker 2: into sci fi. So it'll be him that that you
- 30:50Speaker 2: haven't seen another interviews. So yeah, okay, later this week.
- 30:55Speaker 2: All right, Uh, well, should we get to our main events,
- 30:59Speaker 2: our main topic.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Let's do it.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Fine, will now comment.
- 31:08Speaker 5: I was waiting for you to do that because I
- 31:10Speaker 5: couldn't find the mute button in time because I really
- 31:12Speaker 5: had to birth.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Oh nice, all right, So our main topic is we
- 31:19Speaker 2: are going to review season three episode The Shuttle to Confory.
- 31:27Speaker 2: So yeah, uh, this episode, the third episode of season three,
- 31:33Speaker 2: the Let's see what it was it about pike In
- 31:37Speaker 2: and Bega must inter disputed cling on space to find
- 31:40Speaker 2: a cure for Patel as in Bego's pass Free surfaces
- 31:44Speaker 2: on a planet swimming with deadly creatures aka cling on zombies.
- 31:52Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Scotty doesn't tell what you liked it.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Well, I see a pattern. They go dark humor, dark
- 32:05Speaker 5: and not like dark humor, but they do a dark episode,
- 32:07Speaker 5: then they do a funny episode, dark episode, and it
- 32:09Speaker 5: looks like next week's might be kind of a funny episode.
- 32:14Speaker 5: So there was a lot of cool stuff in this episode,
- 32:18Speaker 5: a lot of I'll get to it as we go
- 32:21Speaker 5: through the episode, but the very first thing is, so
- 32:26Speaker 5: we're doing an episode about a magic flower and this
- 32:29Speaker 5: is the you know, only this flower. Have we haven't
- 32:32Speaker 5: we seen this before? Maybe? Okay, Batman, we've seen it.
- 32:38Speaker 5: So a magic the crimea and the name sounded for me,
- 32:41Speaker 5: The crimea flower CRIMEA was an episode of Deep Space
- 32:45Speaker 5: nine where Odo encounters another change line, right, a change
- 32:50Speaker 5: line that was not part of the Great Link. And
- 32:55Speaker 5: so that was the only other thing I can find
- 32:56Speaker 5: with crime in it in Star Trek.
- 32:58Speaker 4: But I think Crimea as a former Soviet country that
- 33:04Speaker 4: was annexed by Russia a few years ago.
- 33:07Speaker 5: What was the flower called?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. I don't remember what was it.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Was it called?
- 33:13Speaker 5: Was it not called crime the crimea flower or the
- 33:16Speaker 5: crimea river is?
- 33:17Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 33:18Speaker 5: Yeah, oh all right, I don't remember how. I don't
- 33:22Speaker 5: remember how you pronounce a flower, but it was it
- 33:24Speaker 5: was a it was a magic flower.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna look it up.
- 33:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you're right, crime the Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Anyways, Uh, so they got to find the flower. Apparently
- 33:39Speaker 2: it's the only way to cure a captain back down
- 33:42Speaker 2: because she is uh still dealing with the Gordon. Apparently
- 33:46Speaker 2: Spock's cure did not work. It was more of a
- 33:48Speaker 2: band aid than a cure because that Gordon DNA is bushy.
- 33:54Speaker 2: So she's got to uh receive this so only treatment.
- 34:00Speaker 2: But the planet where the flower is at is in
- 34:04Speaker 2: Klingon space. The Federation is not allowed there. What and yeah,
- 34:10Speaker 2: and if they go there. It's an act of war
- 34:13Speaker 2: or a giant violation everyone. Yeah, major, major, yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I like the little interaction between and Benga and Captain
- 34:26Speaker 5: Pike where they're talking about the past and he's like,
- 34:29Speaker 5: you threw up and because of whatever, and he goes, yeah,
- 34:31Speaker 5: it must have been that whatever that we smoked the
- 34:33Speaker 5: night before. Yeah, good times. Haha.
- 34:35Speaker 6: Drug use is.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Cool, that's right.
- 34:40Speaker 5: And these are two lower deckers talking to each other.
- 34:42Speaker 5: This is a medical doctor and a starship captain.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Yeah, the cheap medical doctor.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Remember that time we smoked dope? Wasn't that awesome? Have
- 34:54Speaker 5: you figured it out, Dan? How how badly did I
- 34:57Speaker 5: screw up? This pronunciation of that of the of the
- 35:01Speaker 5: Russian Flower?
- 35:02Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I can't find it.
- 35:04Speaker 5: There's people that are screaming into their into their car
- 35:07Speaker 5: radios right now, Come on, it's pronounced this. Yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I like that. It was an off the books mission
- 35:18Speaker 2: because they weren't legally allowed to do it.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Yeah, we've never seen, never seen that before.
- 35:25Speaker 2: So they take their Federation shuttle there.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Whatever looking for the magic flower.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Look at that suit, the suit the spots wearing right now.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's right out of t o s. That's updated.
- 35:41Speaker 5: It's it's those of you are staring into your radios.
- 35:44Speaker 5: It's Spocks wearing a red environmental suit and it looks
- 35:48Speaker 5: a lot like the one from the original series. Yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 5: they're paying attention.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yeah, somewhat somewhat.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I just I kept laughing as I was watching this episode,
- 36:01Speaker 2: and I was like, so this episode is that he
- 36:03Speaker 2: needs to get his girl from Flowers. That's what we're doing.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Yeah, pretty much.
- 36:10Speaker 8: Oh yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 2: So there's also like a subplot with I guess kind
- 36:20Speaker 2: of acting up in a little orn and I don't know.
- 36:26Speaker 5: Yeah, she's she's acting very defiant, she's acting very.
- 36:32Speaker 1: What's what's the I found it? Lord, It's it's chimera.
- 36:39Speaker 4: H i am e r a and it's uh, it's
- 36:43Speaker 4: a mythological creature from Greek mythology.
- 36:45Speaker 2: It's it's again, wasn't that the name of She's horse.
- 36:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:55Speaker 4: I don't know. C h i am e r a
- 36:59Speaker 4: and Greek mythology. It's it's the lion that also has
- 37:05Speaker 4: a goat's head. It's a mythological creature composed of parts
- 37:10Speaker 4: from different animals. Schimmer was a fire breathing monster with
- 37:15Speaker 4: the head of a lion, the body of a goat,
- 37:16Speaker 4: and the tail of a serpent. Can also refer to
- 37:19Speaker 4: a person or a thing that is a hybrid of
- 37:23Speaker 4: two different things. Well, a biological chimera, which is an
- 37:27Speaker 4: organism with cells from two or more distinct individuals.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Okay, so Tuvik's was a shimmer.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, which fits this because they were going to
- 37:37Speaker 2: make a hybrid.
- 37:38Speaker 5: So yeah, which I'll get to that later on too.
- 37:41Speaker 5: I did like the little line that real quickly foreshadowed
- 37:46Speaker 5: what was going to happen, where he said, is it
- 37:49Speaker 5: possible they don't know about they don't know about us?
- 37:51Speaker 5: And then boom their shuttle explodes.
- 37:54Speaker 6: Yeah, they know about us.
- 37:57Speaker 5: So that's kind of a trope they used quite a bit.
- 38:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I was okay with it.
- 38:02Speaker 4: So while I was looking that up, you guys were
- 38:06Speaker 4: talking about Erica Ortegas and her her insubordination.
- 38:11Speaker 6: There you go.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Here's the thing. This this started before her Gorn experience.
- 38:24Speaker 4: There was an episode where she was she was questioning
- 38:28Speaker 4: everything that Pike was saying, and there was a point
- 38:32Speaker 4: where he turned and said, Erica enough, you know, he
- 38:35Speaker 4: basically turned her on the bridge and said, shot the
- 38:37Speaker 4: fuck up. And I don't remember if that was in
- 38:42Speaker 4: the regular timeline or if that was in a now
- 38:45Speaker 4: erased timeline. I think that might have been the one
- 38:49Speaker 4: where Pike from the Future came back and was guiding
- 38:56Speaker 4: present Pike through the It was the episode where it
- 39:02Speaker 4: was it was the same situation from the from the
- 39:05Speaker 4: TOS episode, except Pike was in command and not Kirk,
- 39:09Speaker 4: and because of that thing, things played out differently.
- 39:12Speaker 6: Yea.
- 39:13Speaker 4: So I don't know if that's because in that timeline,
- 39:18Speaker 4: in that in that point on the timeline, she had
- 39:21Speaker 4: already been infected with whatever the Gorn infected her with
- 39:25Speaker 4: that's affecting her now, or if she's just always had
- 39:29Speaker 4: a hint of insubordination in her and her recent experience
- 39:33Speaker 4: is bringing that to the surface.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess my whole point is that
- 39:36Speaker 1: we've seen a little of this before.
- 39:38Speaker 5: This is not something I'd like to go on records
- 39:41Speaker 5: saying I really like Ortegas, I think she's awesome.
- 39:44Speaker 6: She needs to be court martialed for that.
- 39:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that is a you know, And and I
- 39:50Speaker 5: don't know what the hell Una was thinking just letting
- 39:53Speaker 5: that crap slide. Maybe it was the fact that her
- 39:57Speaker 5: hair was so tight in that rea ridiculous. I've got
- 40:01Speaker 5: that my notes. That ridiculous. Don't ever do her hair
- 40:03Speaker 5: like that again.
- 40:05Speaker 6: I hated it.
- 40:08Speaker 5: I couldn't stand it. I mean, it looks like, if
- 40:10Speaker 5: you want to cut it, go ahead and cut it.
- 40:12Speaker 5: If you want to pull it back, go ahead and.
- 40:14Speaker 6: Pull it back.
- 40:14Speaker 5: Do not put it in that kind of bun ever
- 40:17Speaker 5: ever again. But the anger of her women's air, I
- 40:22Speaker 5: don't I don't have anything else to say about that. Yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 5: one thing, I only get passionate about the important issues, Okay, Daniel, Right.
- 40:30Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. One thing I thought was funny
- 40:33Speaker 2: is when they were like trying to be like quiet
- 40:35Speaker 2: and whispering, and I realized, man and bega when he whispers,
- 40:39Speaker 2: man is almost unintelligible. Yes, yeah, it's really hard. I
- 40:43Speaker 2: had to throw in the close gathering. When it ends up,
- 40:49Speaker 2: they get the flower, they run into a klingon who
- 40:53Speaker 2: has been chasing in banka because she wants to fight
- 40:57Speaker 2: them and kill them because he killed her daddy.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Yep.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and uh, she's not necessarily mad that he killed
- 41:11Speaker 2: her dad. It's that she wanted to kill her dad
- 41:14Speaker 2: or something.
- 41:14Speaker 6: Like that, right, right, right?
- 41:16Speaker 1: He remember to understand.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Yeah, the dad was the ambassador from last last season. Yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 5: but the female Klingon was played by Christine Horn. She's
- 41:31Speaker 5: been in a few things. I think she's great. I
- 41:33Speaker 5: think she's lovely.
- 41:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:35Speaker 5: I remember in a very specific episode.
- 41:37Speaker 6: Of The Good Doctor.
- 41:38Speaker 5: But I have one knit about the costume. It didn't
- 41:43Speaker 5: have a boob window, and I was no, I did
- 41:48Speaker 5: not have have a boob window. And as we all know,
- 41:52Speaker 5: a star trek hands a good female Klingon uniform has
- 41:57Speaker 5: a very distinct boob window.
- 42:00Speaker 2: A boom window brings honor to the house.
- 42:02Speaker 5: A boob window brings on.
- 42:03Speaker 1: So you're you're anti hair buns, but your pro pro
- 42:11Speaker 1: boob window.
- 42:12Speaker 5: I'd like to go on the record as saying just
- 42:14Speaker 5: that anti hair bun, pro boob window.
- 42:19Speaker 1: And I got it.
- 42:19Speaker 4: You know.
- 42:20Speaker 5: If you know Christina Horne, she was definitely up for
- 42:22Speaker 5: the challenge of that.
- 42:23Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, so.
- 42:26Speaker 5: You know, Hey, I can be racist and sexist all
- 42:30Speaker 5: in the same The Chads rub it off on me.
- 42:40Speaker 2: So yeah, she did a great job as character.
- 42:44Speaker 6: I liked her.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I like when she stabbed Pike and fascinated so
- 42:53Speaker 2: that she could fight in Bengal.
- 42:56Speaker 5: He fell out. He's like, yep, walk right into that one.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I wonder if they had to
- 43:01Speaker 2: let him. Uh it felt like he had lived a
- 43:04Speaker 2: few lines as opposed to like in characters set things. Yeah.
- 43:09Speaker 5: I wonder if that line was scripted or not. And
- 43:12Speaker 5: you know, because and I was, uh, you know, I
- 43:15Speaker 5: was I was talking to uh, you know, Johnny Frakes,
- 43:18Speaker 5: and uh, he was saying that he was being interviewed,
- 43:22Speaker 5: and he was talking about being on the set of
- 43:24Speaker 5: Strange Worlds and Discovery and and doing some lower decks
- 43:28Speaker 5: and stuff. And he goes, he was on the set
- 43:30Speaker 5: I don't know if he was directing or just whatever.
- 43:33Speaker 5: And somebody they were they were doing a take and
- 43:36Speaker 5: somebody ad libbed something and Jonathan Frakes, Jonathan Frakes like
- 43:41Speaker 5: looked over at the at the camera guy or the
- 43:43Speaker 5: director or whoever, and was like, is that Are they
- 43:47Speaker 5: allowed to do that? And and they're like, yeah, yeah,
- 43:49Speaker 5: they can. They can add lib if they want to.
- 43:50Speaker 5: Because that was a no no backup generation Voyager deep
- 43:55Speaker 5: Sase nine. If you you couldn't change one single word,
- 44:00Speaker 5: you know, McNeil and and Wong talk about that all
- 44:03Speaker 5: the time. You could you can make suggestions if you
- 44:06Speaker 5: wanted to change a word or something like that, but
- 44:09Speaker 5: you couldn't do it in a take.
- 44:11Speaker 1: That was a no no.
- 44:11Speaker 5: And I guess some strange new worlds and uh they
- 44:14Speaker 5: do it all the time where they add lib and
- 44:16Speaker 5: it's okay.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Well, it's it's different too, Like back then they were
- 44:21Speaker 2: still shooting on film, so film.
- 44:24Speaker 5: Is far more Yeah, that makes a difference.
- 44:27Speaker 2: To yeah, whereas now it's all digital and so.
- 44:30Speaker 5: Right, So back then it's like quis quick screwing around
- 44:33Speaker 5: and that's why they got you know, make each other
- 44:35Speaker 5: laugh or screw around or whatever. Right, you know, we're
- 44:38Speaker 5: going through feet and feet.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Of film here, right, and that's that's a lot of money.
- 44:45Speaker 5: Yeah. They talk about that on the on the other
- 44:46Speaker 5: podcast too, about being able to just go up to
- 44:48Speaker 5: the scene they and looking at it and going oh
- 44:52Speaker 5: that's perfect or now I mean there's a boom mic
- 44:55Speaker 5: there or whatever they can.
- 44:58Speaker 6: Right, right.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I also thought it was funny that it ends
- 45:04Speaker 2: up because all she wants is her honor, right, and
- 45:07Speaker 2: because she didn't get to kill her dad, she didn't
- 45:10Speaker 2: she's not honored or she lost her honor.
- 45:13Speaker 6: Right, right, So.
- 45:17Speaker 2: It ends up that the you know, they get to
- 45:19Speaker 2: a spot where they're surrounded by the zombies and they
- 45:23Speaker 2: ended up making a deal, not not necessarily like a
- 45:27Speaker 2: negotiated deal, but uh, it's a situation where she is
- 45:31Speaker 2: able to fight off the zombies so that in Bega
- 45:34Speaker 2: and Pike can get out of there, and so she
- 45:37Speaker 2: gets to die with honor like she wants. And and
- 45:42Speaker 2: Pike doesn't get it, and he's like, what what does
- 45:45Speaker 2: it matter? Like, no one's gonna know, and in Bega
- 45:48Speaker 2: says like, I'll know and she'll know. Right, that's enough,
- 45:52Speaker 2: you know, which is interesting to me that Pike didn't
- 45:55Speaker 2: quite understand that, but I guess he's not a fighter
- 45:59Speaker 2: like that.
- 46:00Speaker 1: They needed somebody to not understand it so in Beg
- 46:03Speaker 1: I could explain it.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yeah for the audience.
- 46:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they needed to say it, not show it.
- 46:13Speaker 5: In that particular.
- 46:17Speaker 2: William, she needed to restore honor to her house.
- 46:21Speaker 5: Well, they mentioned something a word that's not been said
- 46:24Speaker 5: in a while. Uh, they mentioned that her or her
- 46:28Speaker 5: house has received discommendation, which is basically a Klingon version
- 46:34Speaker 5: of you know, shame on you, and we're gonna you know, disvalue.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Basically your house, all of it.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Yep, no boom window for you. Oh that's probably why.
- 46:49Speaker 5: The boom window is probably only for the honorable female
- 46:52Speaker 5: Klingon warriors, so they have to wear a special you know.
- 46:56Speaker 1: No, I'm reading it.
- 46:58Speaker 6: I'm reading it right here on the Klingon wi Ye.
- 47:01Speaker 1: If your house is disigned, you lose the boom window privileges.
- 47:05Speaker 6: We got wiki.
- 47:08Speaker 4: Ok, good, it says, it says here you can have
- 47:11Speaker 4: a boob door, but it must remain closed.
- 47:16Speaker 2: See.
- 47:17Speaker 5: That's the shot that we missed. And maybe if you
- 47:19Speaker 5: zoom in, you know, as she's being you know, spoiler
- 47:22Speaker 5: for the end of the episode, as she's being eaten
- 47:23Speaker 5: by the end by the last bit of zombies. You know,
- 47:27Speaker 5: with with one hand, you can see her reach out
- 47:29Speaker 5: through the zombies, right, But with the other hand, what
- 47:31Speaker 5: you don't see is that she grabs her boom window
- 47:34Speaker 5: plate and rips it off.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I thought I thought that the zombies rip her shirt,
- 47:44Speaker 2: revealing the boom window because her honor has been restored.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Right, my honor has been restored.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Yes, A waiting game says, I have to ask what
- 47:57Speaker 2: is the.
- 47:57Speaker 5: What is the shall I boob Okay, what the boob
- 48:04Speaker 5: window is is if you look at especially most famous
- 48:07Speaker 5: made famous by Larisa and betor female Klingon warriors have
- 48:12Speaker 5: a distinguished cleavage right in there, you know. And that's
- 48:17Speaker 5: what we call a boom window. Cling on boom window, right.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I think Power Girl has one too, Yeah, girl has
- 48:24Speaker 1: one on her mother's side.
- 48:27Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's what that is.
- 48:30Speaker 2: I just googled.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Hey, there it is.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's good to see some honor. That's that's too,
- 48:47Speaker 2: glorious honorable things I displayed.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Well, and okay, boom window. To clarify, I did not
- 48:55Speaker 5: coin the phrase boob window. Mariner coined the phrase boob wind.
- 49:00Speaker 2: It has been around forever the right, but but we.
- 49:03Speaker 5: First heard it in Star Trek in lower decks. So
- 49:07Speaker 5: beck yeah, Beckett Mariner actually said boob window. Yes, I
- 49:13Speaker 5: don't want to get canceled.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Yeah, too late a winning game. Well, you know we're
- 49:25Speaker 2: here to educate. Yes's funds.
- 49:29Speaker 5: Uh oh, there's bettel.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Yeah. So did you guys like the episode? Did you not?
- 49:37Speaker 5: I gave it a solid five point five. And that's
- 49:39Speaker 5: the thing. Oh, that's another thing I was going to
- 49:41Speaker 5: bring up. I think at the end of these before
- 49:43Speaker 5: we go into listener feedback or during I think we
- 49:46Speaker 5: should rate the episodes of whatever we watch. Okay, okay,
- 49:50Speaker 5: you know, so whatever we give. I give the episode
- 49:53Speaker 5: a five point five yeah, out of ten.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna give it a five out of ten.
- 50:03Speaker 4: But I also I want to ask you guys a
- 50:05Speaker 4: question after Daniel gives his rating.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Okay, I'll give it a six.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Okay, okay, yeah, So did did either of you see
- 50:16Speaker 1: the new Jurassic Park?
- 50:19Speaker 6: No?
- 50:20Speaker 1: Yes, no, yes, okay, So spoiler alert just in case
- 50:27Speaker 1: I did not. I did not see it. But a
- 50:29Speaker 1: picture that keeps floating around on the internet.
- 50:31Speaker 4: And I don't know if if this is a scene
- 50:35Speaker 4: from the movie or if this is a joke that
- 50:37Speaker 4: somebody made a meme about. But it's like Scarlett Johansson
- 50:42Speaker 4: and she's like half lizard?
- 50:44Speaker 1: Is that actually in the movie?
- 50:49Speaker 2: I asked him, it's a joke.
- 50:51Speaker 6: It's a joke.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, because I'm watching this episode in the last
- 50:57Speaker 4: two episodes, and all I could think of was his
- 51:00Speaker 4: battel with like half lizard face. Yeah, you know, in
- 51:05Speaker 4: the back of my mind, I'm worried. I'm like, oh,
- 51:07Speaker 4: if someone is someone gonna complain that they copied the
- 51:11Speaker 4: Jurassic World, But again, this is.
- 51:13Speaker 5: Actually this is a prequel to the movie Species, that's
- 51:18Speaker 5: the origin. I'm glad you brought that up, though I
- 51:21Speaker 5: can't captain Bateel. So she's got UNA's blood, she's got chi,
- 51:32Speaker 5: she's got Russian doll Chaimera pollen, right, and she's got
- 51:38Speaker 5: gord Dna. Okay, Starfleet doesn't need to be worried about Cohn.
- 51:42Speaker 5: They need to be worried about her.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I I just want well, we brought this up
- 51:50Speaker 1: last week. I don't think.
- 51:51Speaker 4: I don't think you were here, but I brought up
- 51:53Speaker 4: how you know she was the prosecutor in UNA's case
- 51:57Speaker 4: last season, trying to drummer out of star Fleet because
- 52:00Speaker 4: she's genetically modified.
- 52:03Speaker 6: Here she is, she is genetically modified?
- 52:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 52:06Speaker 5: No, I wasn't here, but I listened. I'm a fan
- 52:09Speaker 5: of the show as well, so I listened to the episode.
- 52:12Speaker 2: You know in the Fantastic Four, the Human Tours does
- 52:15Speaker 2: flame on and then the fires there. Right, I want
- 52:19Speaker 2: her to say, like scales on or.
- 52:21Speaker 6: What's what's.
- 52:28Speaker 2: What?
- 52:28Speaker 1: What is what is fantastic for?
- 52:30Speaker 6: What is that?
- 52:31Speaker 2: I'm not familiar with that. It's the thing. Yeah, that's right,
- 52:37Speaker 2: that's right. It's the four basic food groups.
- 52:40Speaker 5: It's the DC show. They work with the Justice League.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Ah okay, yeah, okay, all right, did you both see it?
- 52:50Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 52:51Speaker 2: I should we get a listener feedback. We can talk
- 52:53Speaker 2: about fantastic for sure.
- 52:55Speaker 6: Yeah, which think.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Let me let me get the feedback.
- 53:00Speaker 5: I think you're.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Listener feedback.
- 53:05Speaker 5: I think Dan's on a three second delay.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too.
- 53:08Speaker 5: And he went away, Uh, let's replace him.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Oh geez, just like that.
- 53:15Speaker 5: Huh yeah, just like that wor chas first chats biz.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure he'll be coming so in. Yeah, so
- 53:24Speaker 2: Fantastic four it came out, dude, I liked it a lot.
- 53:28Speaker 5: Yep, I did too. I'll give it an eight out
- 53:32Speaker 5: of ten.
- 53:34Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, I could see that. Yeah it was. It
- 53:38Speaker 2: was a lot of fun to watch.
- 53:40Speaker 8: Uh.
- 53:40Speaker 2: And Dan's gonna hurt out soon too, so I don't
- 53:42Speaker 2: I don't know if he'll be coming back. But oh here, okay, okay,
- 53:45Speaker 2: here we go. It's slowly loaded up as soon as
- 53:48Speaker 2: you fully loaded up the all Okay, there he is.
- 53:52Speaker 5: We like Dan when he's fully loaded up.
- 53:54Speaker 2: That's right. I can't hear you, Dan, he's he's just talking.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Nobody can.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Uh.
- 54:12Speaker 5: Who's the bad guy in in uh in the new
- 54:16Speaker 5: Upcoming Academy.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Oh, Paul Jamonia.
- 54:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what Dan kind of looks like in that
- 54:25Speaker 5: just a second ago. He looks like Paul Giamatti.
- 54:30Speaker 2: I don't think so, Uh, Dan, you don't have any audio, buddy,
- 54:35Speaker 2: we cannot hear you.
- 54:37Speaker 5: No, that's okay. He just looks like Paul Giamati.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, poor guys.
- 54:44Speaker 5: That's a poor guy.
- 54:50Speaker 6: Good Podo, it's good Pod.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Well, Jazz was on the line, so I'll bring him in.
- 54:55Speaker 5: Uh, there is Jazz. Busy guess audio?
- 54:59Speaker 8: Yeah, I got some ADI.
- 55:00Speaker 6: I hope.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Your audio always sounds good.
- 55:03Speaker 6: So we're good.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Did you did you watch the Fantastic Four?
- 55:08Speaker 8: Not yet, I've man tomorrow is the day, so.
- 55:14Speaker 5: Yeah it was good and all my wife was it good? Yeah?
- 55:18Speaker 8: What about the stingers at the end?
- 55:19Speaker 5: How many?
- 55:20Speaker 2: There's two? The middle one is the important one. The
- 55:25Speaker 2: one way at the end is just kind of for fun.
- 55:28Speaker 2: I thought it was worth it, but everyone's different.
- 55:30Speaker 8: So what I do is I watched the first stinger
- 55:33Speaker 8: and you usually use the restroom and then I go back.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you got enough time to do that?
- 55:38Speaker 8: Yeah, because usually have enough time because there's so many
- 55:40Speaker 8: people that like done the CG and all that, and it's.
- 55:43Speaker 5: Just you know, I promoted this app before, but I
- 55:46Speaker 5: use an app called run p r U n p
- 55:49Speaker 5: e E and it's specifically designed for people who, uh,
- 55:54Speaker 5: you need to go potty, and it'll tell you the
- 55:57Speaker 5: best time during a movie to go to the bath room.
- 56:01Speaker 5: If you it'll give you like it'll give you like
- 56:03Speaker 5: two or three different times, and then to a quick
- 56:05Speaker 5: synopsis of while you're gone, a quick synopsis of the
- 56:08Speaker 5: first three minutes in case you're late, and it'll let
- 56:10Speaker 5: you know if there's any end credit scenes. So I recommend.
- 56:12Speaker 2: It's Danny with us.
- 56:16Speaker 6: I don't know, am I?
- 56:17Speaker 5: Yes, you are?
- 56:21Speaker 1: The worst part is I gotta I got a hard
- 56:23Speaker 1: stop at eleven anyway.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna give my I'm gonna give my
- 56:29Speaker 4: quick U two minute review of Fantastic four.
- 56:34Speaker 6: Yeah, go for it.
- 56:36Speaker 1: I saw it with my with my dad, my son.
- 56:38Speaker 4: We all enjoyed it for the most part, but it
- 56:44Speaker 4: wasn't fantastic. Oh really, Well, I saw it and now
- 56:51Speaker 4: it's a thing that I saw and I'm looking forward
- 56:53Speaker 4: to seeing how it ties into what's coming up in
- 56:58Speaker 4: the in the see you, But I have no desire
- 57:03Speaker 4: to go watch it again, whereas Superman, I saw it
- 57:07Speaker 4: and then three days later I saw it again, and
- 57:11Speaker 4: we're talking about going to see it again.
- 57:13Speaker 8: Tis yeah, I don't know.
- 57:17Speaker 5: Yeah, Waiting Games says it's yet another movie featuring Pedro Pascal,
- 57:21Speaker 5: just another, just one of three movies this month featuring.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, uh. I I liked it. I liked
- 57:30Speaker 2: it quite a bit.
- 57:32Speaker 5: I'd like to change my rating to a seven point five.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I told my buddy I had more fun with Superman.
- 57:40Speaker 2: But I think Fantastic four was more of a movie
- 57:45Speaker 2: because like Superman, like it's it's a series of events
- 57:48Speaker 2: that eventually culminate into the big climax, whereas Fantastic for
- 57:53Speaker 2: its kind of like as a film, lets you know
- 57:56Speaker 2: what the problem is pretty early on, and and it's
- 58:00Speaker 2: how they deal with it.
- 58:03Speaker 5: What'd you think of the style? What did you think
- 58:05Speaker 5: of Earth.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Or yeah, eight three eight or whatever it was, eight
- 58:09Speaker 2: three eight, Yeah, Yeah, I was cool with it. I
- 58:16Speaker 2: thought the sixties vibe was gonna play more of a factor.
- 58:20Speaker 2: It really didn't. It was just more like just to look.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Cool, right, which led me to believe at first, I
- 58:26Speaker 5: think everybody kind of assumed this that it was it
- 58:28Speaker 5: took place even though it was a different alternate universe,
- 58:31Speaker 5: it took place in the nineteen sixties. I don't think it,
- 58:33Speaker 5: did I think it. I think it took place in
- 58:36Speaker 5: what we can closely twenty modern times. It just had
- 58:40Speaker 5: a sixties look to it.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Yeah, like that style every one.
- 58:44Speaker 4: So what was another thing that was strange about it
- 58:47Speaker 4: is is someone from the outside watching this movie who
- 58:51Speaker 4: doesn't know anything about anything, they would think that the
- 58:56Speaker 4: Fantastic Four rule whatever country this the story takes place in.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 59:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know what's I don't know what's happening,
- 59:06Speaker 4: but I'm running out of times, so I'm.
- 59:08Speaker 6: Just gonna run.
- 59:09Speaker 4: We didn't see the mayor, we didn't see the president,
- 59:15Speaker 4: we didn't see the military. We didn't see any of
- 59:20Speaker 4: these authority uh figures or organizations that would normally be
- 59:25Speaker 4: present when millions.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Are they make a point to say that there's no
- 59:31Speaker 2: more militaries that to be part of the future foundation
- 59:36Speaker 2: to demilitarize.
- 59:38Speaker 6: I must have I must have missed that.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Yeah, well, must I must have missed that and that
- 59:47Speaker 4: and that will firmly place this in the category of fantasy.
- 59:52Speaker 8: That the first step stand Is it like a baby's
- 59:58Speaker 8: first step or what is it?
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I think it's it's the first steps of Ay, can
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: we fix our our trends here at Marble. We'll try it. Yeah,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: that's that's the first steps.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I do like that.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: They announced that you don't have there's no homework that
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: needs to be done before watching this movie.
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: You can just watch it.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: Then and then what Doomsday's next? So we got to
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: wait to Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: There's a good I think Spider Man is in between.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: It's like half the weight between the Star Trek season
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: name shots.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: All right, Hey, thanks man, We'll see you guys next week.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I've seen it's out, But.
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: I don't even think they have a script for Spider Man,
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: do they.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: They're gonna start shooting like in a week or two. Yeah,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: when wetted something like that.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Yeah, because this was the first movie of Marble Phase six, right, right,
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: So yeah.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: It was awful and they've already announced after after Secret Wars,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: we're going to reboot are Yeah really, well they're not.
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: Calling it, they're calling it well, I mean everybody's kind
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: so yeah, you got that's the thing. Yeah, Chris sms
- 1:01:20Speaker 8: or is gonna be damn near fifty and right, you know,
- 1:01:24Speaker 8: Chris Evans retired and all your major characters, you know,
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: you can't laid it with you know, the B characters, right,
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: So yeah, no.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: They're not gonna be They're not gonna be around forever. Yeah.
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: The the going theory is they're going to reboot and
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: they're gonna lean on the X Men for a while
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: just to kind of make it different because it really explores.
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: So this would be like the third new cast of
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: X Men.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: Yeah no, actually, well right now they're gonna have for
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: for Doomsday. It's gonna be a team up with Avengers
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: New Avenge. And I heard the original X Men like yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: Ian McKellen and Rebecca Romain and the guy who played
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: Scott Summers. I'm excited about that because I'm a big
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Cyclops fan. They left out Wolverine, they left out a
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: couple of big like Storms.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: What's his name, Alan?
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: The guy that played coming Back is Nick Crawler, Alan Cummings.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Yeah, he got in trouble for lending it spill that
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: he has a fight with the Fantastic Four. Yeah, an interview,
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: and he's like, yeah, they we were shooting just the
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: other day and I had to fight Petty or Pascal
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: or like.
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: That.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: No, he was Spoiler alert for Fantastic Four. Spoiler alert
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: for Fantastic Four. If you haven't seen the movie, Oh, Chess, Okay,
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: never mind, never mind. Yeah, I forgot the Chess has
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: seen its.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Gonna say what are you doing? He hasn't seen it yet.
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: Yeah, well he knows that Robert Downey Junior is going
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: to be Oh yeah, okay.
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: You know what's funny is I don't think you can
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: really spoil it for me because it's it's one of
- 1:03:08Speaker 8: those things I kind of know what's gonna happen.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Well, you know that this movie takes place in a
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: different universe, right, yes, yes, okay, Well tell that eases
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: my mind about Robert Downey Jr. Being cast as Doctor Doom.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: See if it does not for me, it more so
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: for me, Like I'm like, okay, if they do it
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: this way, then I think.
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: That's the problem with the multi verses is that you
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: kind of mess everything up in a way because you
- 1:03:37Speaker 8: got all these different variants of everybody else.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: And it's just I just I just hope they bring
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: back Madame Web.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Maybe Madame's.
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: You just want Sidney Sweeney bag.
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: That's it.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: I'll take that.
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: I'll take that.
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: Yeah, and who's the hot girls? It was hot girl
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: whatever her name is.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: She was in that movie t oh.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Isabella mersaid, yeah.
- 1:04:05Speaker 8: Yes, yes, she's good looking to you, so don't tell
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: me what but yeah, fair enough.
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: I can't do that because my wife listens to the show.
- 1:04:18Speaker 8: Not you hate Rebecca remains hairdy. But that's right, that's
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: all right, because that was awful.
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: Okay, I was the Scott.
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: I was like, what is on her head? Bad wig
- 1:04:32Speaker 8: or whatever? Bad hair piece?
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Oh, it's not random thing I've noticed this week about
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: Paramount and I thought was kind of funny. So they
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: have restarted Dexter, right, they got this new Dexter Resurrections,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: and you know how like for a long time they
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: had the Will Wheaton show for Star Trek where they
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: would talk about each episode. They're doing that now with Dexter.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Dexter gets a show, but not but not Trip. Yeah,
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: so that.
- 1:05:03Speaker 8: Doesn't make sense.
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like Will Wheaton needs to get his Showback
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: because say what you will about Will Wheaton. He is
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: passionate about Star Trek and he's a nerd.
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: I actually like the one with Matt Myro, you know,
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: the original one that wasn't Will Wheaton. Oh, Matt Myro
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: was doing it. I thought he did it really good job.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: So a waiting game. I'm not a fan of Robert
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Doney Junior playing Doctor Doom. I know there's a comic
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: book where it's Doctor Doom, but it's still very silly. Yeah.
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: See, I don't. I don't know that much about I don't.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: I've never I don't read comic books. I don't actually
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: read comic books. I never really did you know that
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: was for peoples?
- 1:05:46Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: I wouldn't even know where to start. Like I'm a
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: huge Superman fan. I've got a few Superman comics, but
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: it's mostly just like an I'm like a dog, you know,
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: like oh this is pretty, or like a baby, like
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: oh this is pretty. But I don't follow storylines. I
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: wouldn't wouldn't to start, you know, with comics.
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: I want to start from the very beginning, and I
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: want to read to where they are now. And that's
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: why I like to get compendiums or yeah whatever and
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: you know, a big omnibus and read it.
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: So I just do deep, just go on Wikipedia and
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: look at you know, what is this character's history of.
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: Want at art to you?
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: Because some of it's you know, yeah, really cool.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: But my problem is Doom is so associated with his
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: mask and he never takes it off, right, Yeah, but
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: you're not gonna, yeah, you're not going to pay tens
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: of millions of dollars to bring in Robert Downey Jr.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Or maybe like whatever it ends up being without. Yeah,
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Like that's the thing.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: So, like I heard with the Multiverse, they were actually
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: going to bring in the guy, the last guy that
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: played Doctor Doom, not from the twenty fifteen the original one,
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: but he original one.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: But he died, the original one died.
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: Yeah, just recently have an MCU.
- 1:06:57Speaker 8: Yeah, what do you think about Hull Colgan Daniel? Yeah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: I that's a big one.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: It's a difficult thing because he did some pretty terrible things,
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: sat some durable things and never disputed it never like
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: it is it is things he has done. It is
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: on tape. And so the way I heard it put
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: best kind of is for me that resonated with me
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: is hul Cogan died ten years ago. Terry Bulea died
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: just a few days ago. Yeah, that's that's kind of
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: how I put it.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: I respect what he did in the ring, big deal
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: for for wrestling, but man like he had opportunity after
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: an opportunity to make things right and just would not.
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's that's the problem.
- 1:07:54Speaker 8: That was a big one for me because that was
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: like my icon in the you know when I was
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: a little kid.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Brett Hart and myself. Yeah, I love Brett Hart.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean he's arguably the biggest name in
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: wrestling ever, right, oh, at.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Least in North America.
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, yeah, and.
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: He's the andre The Giant Fight was probably one of
- 1:08:19Speaker 8: the It.
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: Had a lot of weird celebrity deaths. Malcolm Jamal Warner,
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: Ozzy Osbourne. I didn't have a personal connection to any
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: of them. I you know, I watched the cast show
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: when I was a little kid.
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I.
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: Know of the music of Ozzy Osbourne, and I remember
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: watching some wrestling in the eighties. But yeah, you know
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: what I saw these, I'm like, huh huh, okay, Yeah,
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: peace to all of you.
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm not going Jamal Warner was weird because it
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: was he went twenty paces or you know, just went
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: out undertow got him and I couldn't get back.
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: Well.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: One of the things I read too was you know
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: about they were talking about how these celebrity deaths affected you,
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: and you know, what was the last celebrity death that
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: really really affected you?
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: And I?
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: And I'm I thought about that. I mean, what was
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: the last celebrity death that really affected you guys? And
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: I thought about it for me and I'm like, I
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: couldn't I grant Imahara was the last celebrity death that
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: really affected me. That was the only one that I
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: can think of where I had a vistl reaction. I
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: had an audible reaction where I read it and I
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: was like, like that any other I never had that.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: And for those who don't know, Granted Mahara, he was
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: he was on MythBusters, right and he was he was
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: he was one of the secondary MythBusters MythBusters, And you know,
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: those are the kind of celebrities that I that I,
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: you know, look at you know, yeah, I.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Don't know who would really strike me like.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: That, like yeah, yeah, forty five years from now, when
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: when William Shatner dies, I'll.
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: Probably get like.
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: Another one that hit me really hard was Aaron Eisenberg. Yeah,
- 1:10:00Speaker 8: because he was podcast he was doing the Sting podcast
- 1:10:05Speaker 8: with Sac and another guy, and I was listening to
- 1:10:09Speaker 8: that show at the time and then all of a sudden,
- 1:10:11Speaker 8: you know, boom gone.
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: Yea desiree outers. Is that how you pronounced it? She says, uh,
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: Anton Yeltin, Yeah, Anton Yelchin.
- 1:10:21Speaker 8: That was a that was especially because I was young, young,
- 1:10:26Speaker 8: and and in.
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: A franchise that you know, it's close to my heart.
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: And it's kind of like when Robin Williams died. That
- 1:10:34Speaker 8: was a big one too, maybe the last big one
- 1:10:36Speaker 8: for me, because Robin was like such an icon in
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: the eighties nineties, you know, and then just took his
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: own life and it's really sad.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they're they're you know, it's just like
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: anyone else, man, they're people.
- 1:10:51Speaker 8: And yeah, it's it's weird when they say celebrity doesths
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: come in threes, and it's really weird when it happens. Yeah,
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: because just the sweet like three major celebrities past and
- 1:11:06Speaker 8: the musician there.
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: That's right, Grant played Zulu in Star Trek continues, Yeah,
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: that's right, thank you about that.
- 1:11:16Speaker 8: You know, it's funny because I watched that. Didn't we
- 1:11:19Speaker 8: watch that recently?
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Surgery continues, No, we watched a couple of fan Was.
- 1:11:25Speaker 8: It Renegades or it was one of them?
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Renegades? Yeah, I heard the one we watched was
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: pretty bad.
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, all right, well what was worse? Renegades or
- 1:11:41Speaker 8: this past episode?
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: I've never seen?
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: What's the one we watched?
- 1:11:47Speaker 8: Yeah, what's the one we watched?
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: The I don't I don't remember.
- 1:11:52Speaker 8: The one that Walter Kanning and everybody else. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: I got the crew to get.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Other and yeah, it ended up being like section thirty one.
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: Yeah, it was like this section thirty one. We just
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: recently watched it.
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: It was very memorable for me.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: Clearly, we loved it.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: I started a podcast, its own separate podcast just based
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: on that.
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: Yeah, you're doing a minute by minute that's minute.
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: Frame by frame.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Okay, streame a beautiful masterpiece.
- 1:12:24Speaker 8: Gotta make sure this podcast last at least ten years.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: You know, someday they're going to do a podcast on
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: this podcast, like you know, welcome to trek Cast. Cast
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: before we go to every single archive episode of cast.
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: I thought about it, like I'm your AI host Dan,
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: you know, like.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: When there's not Star Trek shows and we're like, oh,
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: what should we do this week? I've thought about, like,
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: let's review others startork podcasts.
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know, I I'm involved. I mean, I'm
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: not involved, but I comment on other you know, Trek
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: cast or there's one called, uh well, keep it up
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: the Car the Kardashians. Yeah, and you know, there's a
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: few of them. And I watched the Delta Flyers. That's
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: pretty good. Although they had a rocky start. They had
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: a rocky start, but.
- 1:13:13Speaker 8: That's all podcasts things. They all kind of gel together,
- 1:13:18Speaker 8: like it text a little bit, and then once they
- 1:13:20Speaker 8: figure out the formula, it's kind of like this one,
- 1:13:22Speaker 8: like when you guys took over from you know, David
- 1:13:26Speaker 8: Thomas Ivey, Like it took you a couple weeks.
- 1:13:29Speaker 6: Months, years, years.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all right, well we should probably be wrapping
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: it up. Okay, back next week with another episode. A
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: holiday episode appears, like we already know what it's kind
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: of about.
- 1:13:47Speaker 8: What do you think of the Muppet episode coming?
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: I don't know if that's an episode it could.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Just be.
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: I don't know, because please don't beam up it.
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: Like they you know.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: And it took me.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: I wrapped my brain and I'm like, why does this
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: look familiar? Why does this sound familiar? Why? And then
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: I realized that they did an episode of Legends of
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: Tomorrow DC's Legends of Tomorrow where they showcased an all
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: Muppet crew.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they're all puppet crew.
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: Yeah, and it was the universe that it was all puppets.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Was it Buffy or Angel? One of them did a
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: Muppet show one time.
- 1:14:25Speaker 8: I mean, I see Community doing that, like a show
- 1:14:27Speaker 8: like Community, but not I don't know, Star Trek. Like
- 1:14:32Speaker 8: we already had a crossover with the cartoon, which actually
- 1:14:35Speaker 8: worked out, which was funny.
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: We actually all love.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: The musical episode and ever since then, let's just go crazy.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: People all love it.
- 1:14:43Speaker 8: Yeah, let's let's not do that because I know you
- 1:14:45Speaker 8: added zombies this week. And oh the other thing, Pike's girlfriend, Yeah, okay,
