- 0:00Okay. So being autistic, I'm driving
- 0:03here in UK. What the heck is going on with
- 0:05this new regulation. Hey guys, welcome back to the a
- 0:07school dimed on. I have Aspergers Syndrome ADHD
- 0:10OCD and dyslexia. Okay guys, so basically in the
- 0:13UK, there's been this huge change to something called the
- 0:16dvla and the dvla the the firm or the government agency that
- 0:21cover all things driving related like for your driver's test your
- 0:25multi the regulations that go through for fitness test for
- 0:28people with medical conditions. Etc, etc.
- 0:31Now there's been a lot of controversy the past few days
- 0:34where somebody from the autistic Community went on to the
- 0:38government website and noticed that there was a little notice
- 0:40they're saying that if you have autism spectrum condition and
- 0:43you don't acknowledge this to the dvla you could be fined up
- 0:48to a thousand pounds. This is bizarre.
- 0:50Now a lot of people freaking out over it and I wanted to just
- 0:53discuss it because I feel like it's very important.
- 0:55So there's a few things here the dvla website.
- 0:58Let's go through that first and see.
- 1:00What they actually see okay is one that actual website as you
- 1:02can see it says autistic Spectrum disorders is T and
- 1:05driving. It says You must help the really
- 1:07if you aren't izt expect if you have an autistic Spectrum
- 1:09Disorder you can we find a thousand-pound.
- 1:11If you do not tell the really about a medical condition that
- 1:14affects your driving a very important to note you may be
- 1:18prosecuted if you're involved in an action as a result.
- 1:21So this line here where it said you could be fined up to a
- 1:24thousand pounds of do not tell the dvla about a medical
- 1:26condition that affects your driving don't affect them
- 1:29driving could be the medical condition like epilepsy or
- 1:31something, you know could be a physical thing.
- 1:34We can me, you know have a lot of Lynn or something like that.
- 1:36It could be, you know, I never reasons of medical condition
- 1:39could impact driving now, I wouldn't say that anybody who's
- 1:44passed the driving test who has ASD that that really affects
- 1:48their driving like it doesn't affect my driving.
- 1:51You know, I did you would have passed your test if it affecting
- 1:54the driving that much now everyone's freaking out thinking
- 1:57that were going to be fine because in the you have to tell
- 1:59them You know the dvla about their awesome disorder.
- 2:02And another thing that's quite interesting is that the dvla
- 2:05actually didn't tell anybody about it.
- 2:06They just updated their website and then nothing was said the
- 2:09actual dvla is quoted by saying that this has been changed for a
- 2:11number of years and that there's no there's nothing new there.
- 2:14So people should be telling them anyway, but the weird thing
- 2:17about this is that they never consulted with anybody didn't
- 2:19tell anybody that just like Punk this like side of that now the
- 2:22dvla are responsible for this and they basically put out a
- 2:27form you have to fill the form and some I say that the form
- 2:31asked questions that are related to substance abuse and
- 2:33psychiatric treatment, but nothing to do with autism
- 2:35itself, which is pretty bizarre because if you're going to you
- 2:38know, I have somebody fart form about their autism spectrum
- 2:41disorder the maybe you should be covering questions about autism
- 2:44right needless to say every freaking out over it.
- 2:48I don't really know what on Earth is going on with it.
- 2:50I want to make this video so that you guys knew all the facts
- 2:53that I know currently the national autistic Society
- 2:55actually putting out a press release right now, buddy.
- 3:00Talking about the fact that they're challenging the dvla to
- 3:02this and the chip the tongue not too fine anybody until they sort
- 3:05out this mess because basically the national autistic Society
- 3:08who like the UK governing body on autism are basically saying
- 3:11you can't do that kind of not fair and you know, they've got a
- 3:15driving license, you know autism doesn't really affect their
- 3:18driving. Obviously.
- 3:19That's why there was a drive not saying that every with an Autism
- 3:21Spectrum Disorder doesn't have any issues driving, but then the
- 3:24ones who have the test and they've gone through that and
- 3:26you know, a professional license tester from the government.
- 3:29Has tested you and send you okay to drive and I think that that
- 3:33should be enough. I don't think that there needs
- 3:35to be this form filling out. Especially not a thousand pound
- 3:38fine. If you don't do it, I'd love to
- 3:40know your thoughts on the case because a lot of you guys be
- 3:42tweeting me on Instagram me and ask me questions on it.
- 3:45And to be honest with you. I'm not entirely sure.
- 3:46So if you get me on Instagram, which is at the ask we will and
- 3:50on Twitter as well at the s wheels and send me your comments
- 3:52and leave a comment in the comment section of this video
- 3:54down below just because like, yeah, I'd love to know what on
- 3:57Earth is going on. And also guys, if you like this
- 3:58video, please give it a thumbs up.
- 3:59Up. Yeah, I'll see you in the next
- 4:02one. Thanks to this really small
- 4:03briefing.
