- 0:03Speaker 1: And now it's day two.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Yes, wow, that's a different craft stance today, but it
- 0:07Speaker 2: is Opening Day still for some teams. Yeah, that was
- 0:11Speaker 2: the crab.
- 0:13Speaker 3: What do you call that, the krusty krab.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Yeah, the Krusty krab. Oh, it's cash because we're money season.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It is the extension season extended into the regular season.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This time, we're not going to do that.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Give me one minute first, you know what I want
- 0:30Speaker 2: to point out becase we're not going to do a whole.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Segment on it.
- 0:32Speaker 2: My favorite part of Opening Day, Todd Father is debuts.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Because you're a kid, you dream of being the big leagues.
- 0:39Speaker 2: You go through a crazy path. Nowadays it's a quicker
- 0:42Speaker 2: path usually to the big leagues if you're really good,
- 0:44Speaker 2: from the draft to the show. But Man even late
- 0:48Speaker 2: into the night, Chase the latter, in his first regular
- 0:50Speaker 2: season game, hit two home runs. McGonagall had four hits
- 0:53Speaker 2: and two doubles. Carson Bench had a home run in
- 0:55Speaker 2: a stolen base for the Mets. Who else am I missing?
- 0:58Speaker 2: JJ Weatherholt had a home run for the Cardinals. I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 2: it's like everybody we were looking forward to seeing all
- 1:03Speaker 2: had huge games. Not everybody, but many of the big boys.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's it started in spring training when the
- 1:09Speaker 4: name started coming out and you're trying to figure out, ah, well,
- 1:12Speaker 4: this guy gonna be any good?
- 1:13Speaker 3: Is he a suspect, is he a prospect? Is he
- 1:15Speaker 3: a big leaguer?
- 1:16Speaker 4: And these guys, they're more polished, They have more stuff
- 1:21Speaker 4: they can look at to get them ready to go.
- 1:24Speaker 3: You know, it's not just raw talent anymore.
- 1:26Speaker 4: It's guys that you know, have the film, have the
- 1:29Speaker 4: extent of looking where my body is, two degrees right
- 1:33Speaker 4: left center, all that kind of stuff, you know, all
- 1:35Speaker 4: joking aside that could get them in the right places
- 1:38Speaker 4: and put their bat path in the right better path
- 1:41Speaker 4: on any pitch that they're looking for and squaring the
- 1:44Speaker 4: ball up and they go four for four and McGonagall,
- 1:47Speaker 4: I mean that's absolutely phenomenal. So yeah, pretty good star
- 1:52Speaker 4: for these young men. And then you look like you
- 1:53Speaker 4: look at a veteran guy and Aaron Judge, what the heck?
- 1:56Speaker 4: You know, it's like all the world's coming in and
- 1:58Speaker 4: so four strikeouts for him. So do I think this
- 2:03Speaker 4: is gonna be the whole rest of the season. No,
- 2:05Speaker 4: When I think these kids they have a bright future,
- 2:07Speaker 4: of course.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah, nerd on technicality McGonagall four for five started the day,
- 2:12Speaker 2: three for three had a two run double.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think it was to start.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Then he had the double follow up, but yes, still
- 2:17Speaker 2: same point and Todd, you weren't on yesterday's show, so
- 2:20Speaker 2: AJ was on. I think like a barstool show where
- 2:23Speaker 2: one guy was like, oh, and do you think Judge
- 2:24Speaker 2: is washed? Yeah, dude, one game, that's not really how this.
- 2:29Speaker 2: This is baseball, not football, So we're gonna let things
- 2:32Speaker 2: play out a little more than than one game. But Kratz,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I actually think, for you and me talking so much
- 2:38Speaker 2: offseason stuff, a day like yesterday proves why teams are
- 2:42Speaker 2: so stingy with prospects.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, you look at all of them
- 2:48Speaker 5: and you go, who's going to be the best. Who's
- 2:50Speaker 5: going to be the one that has the best not
- 2:53Speaker 5: just career but season this year? And to me, it's
- 2:57Speaker 5: the one. It's the guys that are getting put in
- 2:59Speaker 5: the lineups that are maybe hit sixth or seventh to
- 3:02Speaker 5: start on playoff contending teams, and then if they continue
- 3:06Speaker 5: to have the success that we saw them have on
- 3:08Speaker 5: opening day, then you go, okay, we move them into
- 3:10Speaker 5: a different spot. In the lineup. Like, I don't think
- 3:12Speaker 5: Kevin McGonagle is a seven hitter, but I love that
- 3:15Speaker 5: aj Hinch put him there. A j Hinch gets it.
- 3:17Speaker 5: He understands how to let prospects kind of like transition
- 3:22Speaker 5: into the big leagues. Look at the guys that he's
- 3:24Speaker 5: helped transition in, you know, George Springer, a Carlos Corre,
- 3:30Speaker 5: those kinds of guys that were early in their careers
- 3:32Speaker 5: when he was managing Kyle Tucker.
- 3:34Speaker 2: There's many, yeah, that aj Hinch saw early in their
- 3:37Speaker 2: career and they've blossomed.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So the Tigers win the game.
- 3:40Speaker 2: By the way, we'll go over some of what we
- 3:41Speaker 2: saw from day one and we'll push it forward to
- 3:44Speaker 2: day too.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But also there's news. Let's talk Kashish, let's charge it out.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Look at the Cubs.
- 3:53Speaker 2: All of a sudden, Todd Father dropping bills left and right.
- 3:57Speaker 2: So Nico Horner signed a six year contract extension.
- 4:02Speaker 1: He was the guy.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I mean, he was mentioned in trade rumors this offseason,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but it didn't sound like it was serious on the
- 4:07Speaker 2: Cub side. And yeah, it wasn't because they wanted to
- 4:10Speaker 2: keep him and they are keeping him on a six
- 4:12Speaker 2: year agreement.
- 4:13Speaker 1: We haven't received the money yet.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He actually has a press conference and for those of
- 4:16Speaker 2: you that are watching us right now on TV on Marquee,
- 4:19Speaker 2: you're going to go to that at the top of
- 4:21Speaker 2: the next hour, so two o'clock eastern, one o'clock your time.
- 4:24Speaker 2: We'll stay, of course on FT on YouTube like we
- 4:27Speaker 2: always do. But Top Father Pekar.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Armstrong just signed an extension with his team.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Horner is way deeper into his career, so that's why
- 4:35Speaker 2: I think the money will end up being somewhat similar.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I think you'll end up seeing a number in the
- 4:40Speaker 2: low to mid one hundreds, maybe one twenty five mil
- 4:44Speaker 2: something like that for Nico Horner, which is somewhat similar
- 4:46Speaker 2: to the guaranteed cash that PCA got, but PCA higher ceiling.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Nico Horner has been one of the best players at
- 4:53Speaker 2: his position in the sport for about half a decade now.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Our sport loves variations of wins above replacement, and he's
- 5:00Speaker 2: been like a four or five last I think if
- 5:02Speaker 2: he went by Baseball Reference in the sixes win player and.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Quietly, you know what I mean, you know about him,
- 5:09Speaker 4: but what's the old Nurses Ryan Little Nico Corner and
- 5:12Speaker 4: Horner sat in the corner in his pines and his curves.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Now he's eating steak and kebab's. This guy has got them.
- 5:18Speaker 4: He's gonna get some cash. This guy is absolutely phenomenal. Quietly,
- 5:22Speaker 4: those are the guys you want on your squad, the
- 5:24Speaker 4: guys that go out there day in and day out
- 5:27Speaker 4: and just perfect their craft. Gold Glover hits the ball, gap,
- 5:32Speaker 4: the gap hits gop, has power, speed, He's got it all.
- 5:35Speaker 4: And guess what nobody's really heard about this guy. Honestly,
- 5:39Speaker 4: unless you live in the Midwest.
- 5:41Speaker 3: It's a dude. He's a dude. He's a dude.
- 5:43Speaker 4: And if you're the Cubs, if thinking about the Cubs
- 5:46Speaker 4: and what they've been doing, absolutely phenomenal.
- 5:49Speaker 3: This is what you.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Want as a fan, as a baseball fan and a
- 5:53Speaker 4: Cubs fan, this is what they should be doing, This
- 5:56Speaker 4: is what teams should be doing. And seeing what the
- 5:58Speaker 4: Cubs have done, spend in the most money. Hey, kudos
- 6:02Speaker 4: to you, Chicago. Now go out there and get a win.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I mean, I'll be interested to see how much this
- 6:07Speaker 5: this is for. Because he's coming off the best season
- 6:10Speaker 5: of his career from a war standpoint, from an OPS
- 6:15Speaker 5: plus standpoint from every aspect like he but he's also
- 6:20Speaker 5: kind of been blossoming into this everyday player over the
- 6:25Speaker 5: last four years. Like it's kind of been the fact
- 6:28Speaker 5: that the guy just has always put together great at bats,
- 6:31Speaker 5: the fact that he was able to not up his
- 6:35Speaker 5: not up his UH walk rate a ton, but more
- 6:39Speaker 5: lower his strikeout rate from years previous. And to me,
- 6:44Speaker 5: I think it's something that I guess it's like an
- 6:47Speaker 5: old adage like this guy's a ballplayer like this guy,
- 6:50Speaker 5: And I always hate when guys say that because it's like,
- 6:53Speaker 5: what does that mean? Like he just doesn't do anything
- 6:55Speaker 5: super awesome, Like to me, short arms, quick to the ball, understands,
- 7:02Speaker 5: understands the situation that he's that he's playing in. He's
- 7:06Speaker 5: kind of like a you know, I don't know if
- 7:08Speaker 5: people remember Eric Ibar. Eric Ibar was a switch hitter
- 7:11Speaker 5: back in the day. I think, you know, that was
- 7:13Speaker 5: more my time when I was playing. So for Nico Horner,
- 7:18Speaker 5: is he going to have a better career? To me,
- 7:20Speaker 5: the way he's matured at the plate and the way
- 7:22Speaker 5: that he's been able to when he gets every day
- 7:25Speaker 5: at bats drive the ball to different locations. He's not
- 7:29Speaker 5: going to hit you a ton of dingers, but he's
- 7:31Speaker 5: going to play gold glove defense. So to me, I
- 7:34Speaker 5: think it's it's something that you see the Cubs they
- 7:36Speaker 5: don't want him to go to free agency. Shows what
- 7:38Speaker 5: he means to this team. But it also shows he
- 7:41Speaker 5: likes Chicago. This is his second extension he's signed. I
- 7:44Speaker 5: think he signed a three year piece to kind of
- 7:46Speaker 5: avoid all his arbitration years, and now he stays for
- 7:51Speaker 5: six more years. And I love when I see this
- 7:54Speaker 5: kind of stuff. And I love when I see it
- 7:55Speaker 5: because now you have Gold at Second locked up for
- 7:58Speaker 5: six years, and you have Olden Center locked up for
- 8:02Speaker 5: six years.
- 8:05Speaker 1: All right, sek kupus get some tickets.
- 8:07Speaker 2: You know you got the ten percent off with the
- 8:09Speaker 2: code territory one zero. So let's look at the weekend. Boys,
- 8:13Speaker 2: you excited about anything in particular? Crats, I'll go to
- 8:15Speaker 2: you first, because when I was looking at the matchups
- 8:17Speaker 2: for tomorrow Saturday, if I'm trying to grab a seat
- 8:20Speaker 2: on Sea Geek Aaron Nola against Jacob de Grom. Remember
- 8:23Speaker 2: the other day, we're like, when's de gram pitching? Only
- 8:25Speaker 2: he's pitching on Saturday.
- 8:27Speaker 5: That's okay, that's fine, But to me, I'm going where
- 8:31Speaker 5: I thought it was one of the best opening days
- 8:32Speaker 5: because I never got to go to Cincinnati for an
- 8:34Speaker 5: opening day Toronto. Toronto gets to play the A's, which
- 8:39Speaker 5: is kind of a weird team to team I said
- 8:41Speaker 5: this earlier matchup, but you get to see Dylan Cees.
- 8:45Speaker 5: I get to see the guy that the Blue Jays
- 8:47Speaker 5: were like, what nobody's moving in the free agency market,
- 8:50Speaker 5: We'll just go get the best player, best pitcher that
- 8:52Speaker 5: we think is available. Bang, he gets to go and
- 8:55Speaker 5: he gets to pitch in Toronto for his first start
- 8:59Speaker 5: second day of the year, after Gosman goes tonight. That
- 9:03Speaker 5: to me, that's the marquee matchup because the A's they
- 9:06Speaker 5: got a good lineup.
- 9:10Speaker 3: They definitely do. They definitely do. And for me, I'm
- 9:13Speaker 3: I'm staying close to home.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Man.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Rangers Phillies, Dude, I just think Rangers are going to
- 9:19Speaker 4: be in the mix when we talk about playoff teams.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Phillies are going to be a mix of NL East champions.
- 9:26Speaker 4: I got the ground throwing with Nola on the mound.
- 9:29Speaker 4: M HM, can't really get anything better than that. So
- 9:32Speaker 4: I'm I'm just gonna take a cab over and uh
- 9:35Speaker 4: get my get my tickets and uh go watch a
- 9:38Speaker 4: good game.
- 9:39Speaker 5: That's right, come on order the pre You're welcome. We
- 9:44Speaker 5: welcome you. I know you don't like to leave home.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah, friendliest crowd in baseball, Friendliest crowd in baseball. I
- 9:51Speaker 2: think they bowed the robot up for the ABS Challenge
- 9:54Speaker 2: system last night, is what I heard. So which I Hey,
- 9:58Speaker 2: I tipped my cap. I love Philly fans, mess around
- 10:00Speaker 2: with them. But each ticket for Seakeek is rated on
- 10:03Speaker 2: a scale of one to ten, so you know you're
- 10:04Speaker 2: getting a good deal with the green dot, not as
- 10:07Speaker 2: good of a deal with the red dot. With over
- 10:09Speaker 2: thirty five million downloads, see Geek's the number one rated
- 10:11Speaker 2: ticketing app. We've got the code for your territory ten
- 10:14Speaker 2: ten percent off your next set of tickets at Sea Gek.
- 10:16Speaker 2: That's ten percent off any tickets, it doesn't have to
- 10:19Speaker 2: be Baseball with promo code Territory one zero.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Make sure you click the link in the description to.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Download the app, and then you have the code automatically
- 10:24Speaker 2: added to your account at.
- 10:25Speaker 1: That point so that you can use it later.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Last year his wins above replacement from Baseball Reference and
- 10:34Speaker 2: it was a big gap between fangrafs fangrafts.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Is four point eight still an awesome number, that is.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That is all star level wins above replacement for a player,
- 10:43Speaker 2: but six point two is superstar and he was fourth
- 10:47Speaker 2: among all National League position players. You can agree or
- 10:50Speaker 2: disagree with parts of the number, and I know you
- 10:52Speaker 2: know some people do and some people don't that watch
- 10:55Speaker 2: and listen to this show.
- 10:56Speaker 1: But it is a key factor in how players are
- 10:59Speaker 1: evaluated in our league.
- 11:00Speaker 2: So he is looked at super highly, and he was
- 11:02Speaker 2: going to get paid more than whatever he gets here.
- 11:05Speaker 2: He was going to get more on the free agent
- 11:06Speaker 2: market in my mind. But you get the security here
- 11:09Speaker 2: heading into your free agent season. Also stole twenty nine bags.
- 11:13Speaker 2: He makes contact, third lowest strikeout rate among qualifiers last year.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And here was the key quote that I dug up.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I was looking for it while you guys were chatting,
- 11:20Speaker 2: and I know you'll both like it. Craig Council at
- 11:23Speaker 2: the winter meetings said, Nico's great at some things that
- 11:26Speaker 2: I think other people think they're good at, and they're
- 11:29Speaker 2: not as good at it. I'm not talking about just players,
- 11:33Speaker 2: I'm talking about people. When you say show up every
- 11:35Speaker 2: day and compete every day. Every rep is completed perfectly.
- 11:39Speaker 2: That is who Nico is. That seems like that's easy.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Everybody can do that. I do that, well, you don't
- 11:44Speaker 2: do it. I would put Nico at the top of
- 11:47Speaker 2: the list for how he does that. I think that's
- 11:50Speaker 2: a really good way to put it in and it's
- 11:51Speaker 2: pointing to what you're talking about. Top father is he
- 11:54Speaker 2: actually does what he preaches. And there are so many
- 11:56Speaker 2: players in baseball that think they do that, and they
- 11:59Speaker 2: probably do it better than almost anyone else on the planet.
- 12:02Speaker 1: But when you get to the elite of the elite, Craig.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Council is saying, I've seen a ton of baseball and
- 12:07Speaker 2: a ton of players. This guy is at another level
- 12:10Speaker 2: in terms of his preparation. That means he's got the
- 12:12Speaker 2: respect of him and all of the youngsters that are
- 12:14Speaker 2: going to come through the Cubs organization.
- 12:18Speaker 3: One hundred percent. And that's the guy you want to
- 12:20Speaker 3: look up to.
- 12:21Speaker 4: That's the guy you're like, you know what, I want
- 12:23Speaker 4: to emulate my game after When I came up, there
- 12:27Speaker 4: was a couple of guys, Brandon Phillips, Scott Rowland, like
- 12:30Speaker 4: the way they went about their business, the way they
- 12:33Speaker 4: play the game, and they it's just an understanding. Like
- 12:37Speaker 4: it's weird when you come up and you see guys
- 12:39Speaker 4: like they command respect out of you without even saying
- 12:43Speaker 4: a word. And that's the guy you walk by, put
- 12:45Speaker 4: your chest up, walk by, Hey, how you doing?
- 12:47Speaker 3: Good to see you instead of me? How I was? Hey,
- 12:49Speaker 3: big dog, what's going on.
- 12:50Speaker 4: It's a different way of talking to somebody, and you
- 12:54Speaker 4: just respect that kind of person.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Hey, the Cubs got smacked in the opening game of
- 12:59Speaker 2: this Who cares, it's one game. They lost ten four
- 13:02Speaker 2: national sit a bunch of homers. The one thing I
- 13:04Speaker 2: do want to point out is when you look at
- 13:07Speaker 2: the box score for that game, and of course you
- 13:09Speaker 2: see that Saya Suzuki isn't starting off the season. So
- 13:12Speaker 2: if you've been sleeping under a rock and you're a
- 13:14Speaker 2: Cubs fan, you're like, Okay, Saya's hurt right now, what
- 13:17Speaker 2: does the outfield look like? Well, that's where I think
- 13:20Speaker 2: the last piece of the puzzle here gets interesting. Last
- 13:23Speaker 2: year we were talking about Matt Shaw is one of
- 13:25Speaker 2: the better prospects in baseball and the guy of the
- 13:27Speaker 2: future for the Cubs at third base. Matt Shaw started
- 13:30Speaker 2: in right field yesterday for the Cubs. This might be
- 13:34Speaker 2: a little bit of a shaky season for him because Kratz.
- 13:36Speaker 2: He's got to learn a new position in the outfield
- 13:39Speaker 2: now that Bregman is there for many years, Horner's at second,
- 13:41Speaker 2: Swanson's as short, there's no room for him in the infield.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Michael Bush, I think, is also one of the more
- 13:46Speaker 2: underrated players in the game. Cubs have done a really
- 13:48Speaker 2: nice job with their core. For Shaw either gets traded
- 13:51Speaker 2: or I think more likely, he learns outfield and plays
- 13:54Speaker 2: it well.
- 13:54Speaker 1: They've got free.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Agents coming up. Ian Happ is a free agent after
- 13:57Speaker 2: this season. That doesn't mean they're necessarily going to sign him.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Say a Suzuki is a free agent after the season.
- 14:02Speaker 2: They traded Owen Casey, who was one of their top prospects,
- 14:04Speaker 2: to the Mirlands for Edward Cabrera.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I think they're going to give him a runout there.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Times like this, Let's say say it takes another couple
- 14:11Speaker 2: weeks to return, they get to see what they have
- 14:13Speaker 2: in young Matt Shaw in the outfield.
- 14:15Speaker 5: And I think maybe the extension, I mean, yeah, the
- 14:19Speaker 5: extension for Nico Horner is good for Matt Shaw in
- 14:23Speaker 5: the sense not that because he was he was a
- 14:25Speaker 5: really good defender at third base, and I think his
- 14:28Speaker 5: bat will continue to continue to mature. But there's always
- 14:32Speaker 5: that Okay, well Nico is going to be gone next year,
- 14:35Speaker 5: so maybe I'll learn second while I'm kind of learning outfield.
- 14:39Speaker 5: I might be fluctuating between Triple A and the big leagues,
- 14:41Speaker 5: or I'm going to be that fourth outfielder. Say it
- 14:44Speaker 5: gets hurt, the extension comes out. Now it's almost like, okay,
- 14:48Speaker 5: Matt Shaw, your choice is you can flounder as kind
- 14:52Speaker 5: of that like utility infield guy who doesn't play shortstop
- 14:56Speaker 5: in the big leagues, or you can say I'm all in,
- 15:00Speaker 5: You're I'm athletic. I can learn to play the outfield.
- 15:03Speaker 5: And there's not a lot of ground to pull up
- 15:06Speaker 5: ground to cover in Wrigley Now. The wind is another
- 15:10Speaker 5: is another is another level as we saw last night
- 15:12Speaker 5: and in Ian Hap's dinger that wasn't a dinger, but
- 15:17Speaker 5: I think there's I think it's it's something that may
- 15:19Speaker 5: help him push all in to be an outfielder and
- 15:24Speaker 5: not worry about Okay, well, maybe I'll I'll get back
- 15:26Speaker 5: to second once Nico leaves.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, there were metrics last year that showed Pete ker
- 15:34Speaker 2: Armstrong is even better than you think based on how
- 15:38Speaker 2: difficult the wind can get for outfielders a wrigular field.
- 15:41Speaker 1: So he's probably not going to learn it in the day.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I mean, Todd father, you didn't go through this exactly,
- 15:46Speaker 2: but you had to wait your turn a little bit,
- 15:47Speaker 2: in my mind, a little bit longer than you should have.
- 15:50Speaker 2: But you did, and you came up and did some
- 15:52Speaker 2: third and eventually some first two for matchaw imagine if
- 15:55Speaker 2: you're him, you come up, you've been doing third, you
- 15:57Speaker 2: feel like you've got it right. You've you've barely had
- 15:59Speaker 2: a minut in the bigs. You were improved on defense
- 16:01Speaker 2: over time in your first season. And then they're like, oops, sorry,
- 16:05Speaker 2: we signed Alex Bregmant. You're gonna be part of a
- 16:07Speaker 2: much better team, but you need to learn the swirly
- 16:10Speaker 2: outfield at Wrigley.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 4: It's a punch in the stomach for sure, especially when
- 16:17Speaker 4: you think like you did every when you think you
- 16:19Speaker 4: did everything you were supposed to do. So we saw
- 16:21Speaker 4: yesterday the wind was blowing out the right. It was tricky.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Anything to you was going over you, and anything over
- 16:28Speaker 4: you was going out of the park. I played in
- 16:30Speaker 4: a couple of those games, dere Wrigley Field. If you're
- 16:34Speaker 4: anywhere from if you're looking at second base from the
- 16:36Speaker 4: high camp, from the right side second base, first base,
- 16:41Speaker 4: just understand, any pop up to center field is gonna
- 16:43Speaker 4: come back and you might have to catch it.
- 16:45Speaker 3: So yeah, you don't see those too often there.
- 16:48Speaker 4: But when the wind is blowing that way, good luck
- 16:50Speaker 4: right side of the field. If you're looking from home plate.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Move over, ipey.
- 17:01Speaker 2: There are new thieves to talk about, and it's a
- 17:04Speaker 2: court case, so we'll let it play out first. But
- 17:06Speaker 2: it does sound like there is some serious, serious conflict
- 17:10Speaker 2: between Alec Bohm and his parents. He filed a lawsuit,
- 17:15Speaker 2: and of course this news breaks on opening day. Boem
- 17:18Speaker 2: hits an Opo three run homer. I think it was
- 17:20Speaker 2: three run homer for the Phillies in a win, so
- 17:23Speaker 2: it clearly didn't affect him on the field.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I can only imagine what he's going through off the field.
- 17:27Speaker 2: But in the lawsuit, he alleges that his parents defrauded
- 17:31Speaker 2: him of millions of dollars, and I highly.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Encourage you to read it.
- 17:36Speaker 2: It was first what Philly Inquire to report on it,
- 17:39Speaker 2: but it talks about multiple LLC set up all kinds
- 17:42Speaker 2: of stuff they got him to sign, all alleged in
- 17:44Speaker 2: the lawsuit, and then he wants real estate and they're
- 17:46Speaker 2: doing weird things with him. I mean, it is everything
- 17:49Speaker 2: in the book that you would think looks like a scam.
- 17:51Speaker 2: So if it is true, it is horrific. And then
- 17:54Speaker 2: when he finally wanted to see the books that his
- 17:58Speaker 2: parents were keeping, its sounds like they basically got a
- 18:01Speaker 2: lawyer right away and sentim a note like, oh, we're
- 18:03Speaker 2: billing you for our time over these past several years
- 18:07Speaker 2: to do your finances, so instead of showing them the books,
- 18:10Speaker 2: they said, pay us money. It sounds like a damn disaster.
- 18:14Speaker 2: And again, the court case has to play out. We're
- 18:17Speaker 2: not putting anyone guilty yet, so I'm throwing that out there.
- 18:19Speaker 2: But if what is alleged is true, Kratz, it is
- 18:23Speaker 2: a nightmare.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Nightmare because you're sitting there going, okay, I gotta focus
- 18:31Speaker 5: and lock in on playing. And he's not just dealing
- 18:34Speaker 5: with this just because just broke. He's not been dealing
- 18:37Speaker 5: with this like ooh the last two days of spring training,
- 18:41Speaker 5: like this is something that is clearly ongoing. It's clearly
- 18:45Speaker 5: something that maybe over the last few years his mind's
- 18:48Speaker 5: gone like that's kind of weird, that's kinda and people
- 18:52Speaker 5: some people will say, well, why do you have somebody
- 18:54Speaker 5: else working on your finances? It's not how it worked, like,
- 18:57Speaker 5: it's not how it works for everybody, like you graduate
- 19:01Speaker 5: from college. I played with him in twenty nineteen. He
- 19:03Speaker 5: was drafted in eighteen. He was up in the big
- 19:06Speaker 5: league soon after that. He's been in the big league
- 19:08Speaker 5: for a long time. And you're a young you're a
- 19:11Speaker 5: young man getting a ton of money. You need to
- 19:15Speaker 5: focus on what's going on in the field. So you
- 19:17Speaker 5: know what, if your parents come to you and they say, hey,
- 19:20Speaker 5: we'll help you out with this, I don't know about
- 19:23Speaker 5: you guys, but I would trust them. I would trust
- 19:26Speaker 5: my parents. And that's what's tough is now he has
- 19:30Speaker 5: to kind of question if these allegations are true. He
- 19:34Speaker 5: has to question, well, who else can I trust? Because
- 19:38Speaker 5: when you have that much money and you're willing to
- 19:41Speaker 5: trust people, people take advantage of it. People take advantage
- 19:45Speaker 5: of of your and sometimes I think when it's parents,
- 19:50Speaker 5: they feel like they're kind of like owed some of it. Like, Oh,
- 19:54Speaker 5: I did a lot for you, I'm gonna go help you,
- 19:56Speaker 5: and now all of a sudden, it's like you weren't
- 19:58Speaker 5: helping me, You're helping yourself.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Hey, it might be time to have a heart to
- 20:03Speaker 2: heart with your phone and be like, I love you,
- 20:06Speaker 2: but you cost too much.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not paying this much anymore. That's it. I mean,
- 20:11Speaker 5: why would I go more than fifteen dollars a month.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Mintmobile can give that to me and I get all
- 20:17Speaker 5: the same.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Coverage exactly, and you don't have to deal with the
- 20:20Speaker 2: crazy bogus fees or free perks that actually end up
- 20:24Speaker 2: costing more. Mint Mobile plans for premium wireless start at

- 20:32Speaker 2: high speed data and unlimited talk and text delivered on

- 20:38Speaker 2: mintmobile is for you. Shop plans at mintmobile dot com
- 20:41Speaker 2: slash territory that's mintmobile dot com slash t er r

- 20:52Speaker 2: bucks a month. New customer offer for first three month only,
- 20:55Speaker 2: then full price plan options available taxes and fees extra
- 20:59Speaker 2: see mint Mobile for details.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Yeah, this is tough, man, because I think you said
- 21:05Speaker 4: it best. You're gonna be second guessing everybody, and I
- 21:09Speaker 4: think he has a right to do that, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 4: barring all these allegations. If this is all true, Imagine
- 21:15Speaker 4: the conversation you first have with your parents, Hey man,
- 21:17Speaker 4: can I just see the books? What's what are all
- 21:20Speaker 4: the holdings? And then they lawyer up. I mean your
- 21:22Speaker 4: mom and dad, Laurier en up? Oh boy, the family men, holidays, birthdays,
- 21:29Speaker 4: when he has kids. If he does, I mean, you
- 21:32Speaker 4: got to think about everything. They're not going to be around,
- 21:35Speaker 4: like I don't know. Hopefully they can, they can mend
- 21:38Speaker 4: this back together. Money is a root of all evil guys.
- 21:43Speaker 4: We've all been a part of it. We've all been
- 21:46Speaker 4: a part of it. I've lost friendships over it. You know,
- 21:49Speaker 4: it's it's very hard. It brings out the worst in people,
- 21:53Speaker 4: and you know, you've got to always have a backup plan.
- 21:57Speaker 4: You got to always make sure you know where your
- 21:58Speaker 4: money is going through. It's hard to keep up. These
- 22:01Speaker 4: guys are making millions and millions of dollars, but every
- 22:05Speaker 4: day you got to always take ten minutes out of
- 22:07Speaker 4: your day just to look everything up and make sure
- 22:09Speaker 4: everything's going well and happen to be your mom and
- 22:12Speaker 4: dad allegedly part of this. Oh man, this is something
- 22:17Speaker 4: whether you hang out with them again or not, is
- 22:19Speaker 4: something that's going to be Hey, how you doing. You know,
- 22:21Speaker 4: but in the back of your mind, you know you're
- 22:24Speaker 4: not gonna be able to trust it anymore if that's
- 22:26Speaker 4: the case.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And I encourage everyone to read this.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I have in the chat, and some people in the
- 22:30Speaker 2: chat are like, damn, you're making me do homework on
- 22:32Speaker 2: the weekend. It's a two minute article if you go fast,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and it is well worth the read. And this has
- 22:37Speaker 2: been going back to twenty nineteen when he kind of
- 22:40Speaker 2: handed the keys to his parents, who were like, we'll
- 22:42Speaker 2: handle it for you. But they were just throwing things
- 22:44Speaker 2: at him left and right that don't look like they're real.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Oh, we need ten percent of this to open up
- 22:48Speaker 1: this LLC. Oh, it's just what you have to do.
- 22:50Speaker 1: They weren't saying like, oh, we're charging you.
- 22:52Speaker 2: They were like, Oh, it's just it's what we have
- 22:54Speaker 2: to do to be able to set this up. Where
- 22:55Speaker 2: the allegations and then within the article it says in
- 22:59Speaker 2: January is where this really blasted off. So Boehm asked
- 23:03Speaker 2: his parents to give him information about his money, his holdings,
- 23:09Speaker 2: his account statements, his login information. Right, this sounds a
- 23:13Speaker 2: lot like a story that broke a couple of years
- 23:16Speaker 2: ago about Otani, where everyone's like, no, everyone knows everything
- 23:19Speaker 2: going on. No they don't, And I get it. This
- 23:20Speaker 2: is parents versus an interpreter, but still same line of story.
- 23:24Speaker 2: And in the lawsuit, instead of showing their son his
- 23:29Speaker 2: login information to his own accounts and what do his
- 23:31Speaker 2: accounts look like, they immediately grabbed a lawyer who provided
- 23:36Speaker 2: minimal information this is from the article, and then later
- 23:39Speaker 2: indicated they were going to bill Boem for all of
- 23:42Speaker 2: the time they spent to administer his affairs at a
- 23:46Speaker 2: rate of fifty dollars per hour since twenty nineteen. You
- 23:50Speaker 2: cannot make this garbage up. I mean, the parents clearly
- 23:55Speaker 2: say he is, but we're going to find out what
- 23:57Speaker 2: happens in court.
- 23:58Speaker 1: And if you read that story.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Who this this is just this is just his holdings,
- 24:04Speaker 5: This is just like money he's made. When stuff like
- 24:08Speaker 5: this happens, rarely are parents or family members going, hey,
- 24:13Speaker 5: I'm gonna come and see you. You know, we'll see
- 24:15Speaker 5: you there. I already got my hotel. No, it's a
- 24:17Speaker 5: lot of like, yeah, can you give me a fly?
- 24:21Speaker 5: Can you give me tickets? Players can be taken advantage of.
- 24:24Speaker 5: And I'm saying the parents did this. I'm just saying
- 24:27Speaker 5: that players can be taken advantage of. And for it
- 24:31Speaker 5: to be at this scale where they're holding and quote
- 24:36Speaker 5: helping with his accounts, that just means to me there's
- 24:41Speaker 5: more than just the monies that they are like that
- 24:45Speaker 5: they're moving and manipulating and allegedly taking from him because
- 24:50Speaker 5: it's like, you know, hey, hey, congratulations, you made this.
- 24:54Speaker 5: You know we'll come to we'll be there. And it's like, well,
- 24:57Speaker 5: who's paying for this? I haven't seen you guys foot
- 25:01Speaker 5: the bill yet. And players get taken advantage of, and
- 25:05Speaker 5: that can really add up. We had Spencer Arraghetti on
- 25:08Speaker 5: he said first year, he's from Texas, so he's playing
- 25:11Speaker 5: in Houston. He spent twenty grand on tickets. He's like,
- 25:14Speaker 5: didn't even know it, million dollar watch, didn't even know it.
- 25:19Speaker 1: You know what I think of? Do you guys like
- 25:21Speaker 1: the biopics?
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's mostly in music where you see the manager take
- 25:26Speaker 2: advantage of the client. Of course this isn't in all cases,
- 25:29Speaker 2: but the point is that this happens frequently, and I
- 25:32Speaker 2: think for some people they look at a story like this, like, how.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Did you not know twenty nineteen Boem's a kid? You're
- 25:39Speaker 1: 't during the Biggs. I know you got to grow
- 25:41Speaker 1: up fast, but there's a lot coming at you.
- 25:42Speaker 2: You're playing major League Baseball games every day. You think
- 25:44Speaker 2: your parents are going to help you out. But Elvis, Queen,
- 25:47Speaker 2: Elton John, all of those movies have a similar narrative
- 25:50Speaker 2: where there was somebody that was taking advantage of them.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I want to spend this forward, Codfather. This is going
- 25:56Speaker 2: on for Alec opening day of the season, Philly's win,
- 26:00Speaker 2: fricking party, Weather looked good, Schwarber Appohomer, same with Boem,
- 26:04Speaker 2: Sanchez with his new money pitching. Well, how does Boem concentrate?
- 26:08Speaker 2: I mean, clearly it didn't affect him for day one,
- 26:10Speaker 2: and it's been a thing for I guess years now.
- 26:13Speaker 2: But really coming to a head, now, can this distract you?
- 26:17Speaker 5: Yes?
- 26:18Speaker 2: Can it also be your escape for a few hours
- 26:20Speaker 2: where he maybe he'll play better because it's the only
- 26:22Speaker 2: time that he can really just have fun, be a
- 26:24Speaker 2: kid and do his thing for a few hours and
- 26:25Speaker 2: not worry about lawsuits.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's one of those being a professional.
- 26:31Speaker 4: You go to the field, you know, maybe it's on
- 26:34Speaker 4: your mind, but once the lights come on and they're say,
- 26:36Speaker 4: now batting, your mind just flips. And that's in any
- 26:41Speaker 4: sport really, So I think your mind can go away
- 26:45Speaker 4: from me a little bit, maybe on the defensive side,
- 26:47Speaker 4: just because you're standing out there, But when you're in
- 26:49Speaker 4: the middle of the game, I feel like those two
- 26:52Speaker 4: and a half two hours and forty five minutes of
- 26:54Speaker 4: game time is your time to shine. And you know,
- 26:57Speaker 4: you want to be a professional baseball player a lot
- 27:00Speaker 4: longer then you want to be at home. So he's
- 27:03Speaker 4: going to work his butt off to be great, and
- 27:05Speaker 4: I think he's got a great opportunity for the fellies,
- 27:07Speaker 4: and I think he's going to have a really good year.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yemi too. It's free agent year too, Kratz right, Massive Massive.
- 27:15Speaker 5: He just never want anything off the field to effect
- 27:18Speaker 5: on the field. And I know stress fractures are not
- 27:22Speaker 5: caused because of stress, but I think stress does inhibit
- 27:27Speaker 5: your body from recovering. So I hope he has people
- 27:29Speaker 5: around him. I hope he has people that can delve
- 27:32Speaker 5: into him and the only reprieve is at the field.
- 27:35Speaker 5: That would suck, you know. I hope he can get
- 27:38Speaker 5: this resolved and get people around him so that his
- 27:42Speaker 5: mental space is where he needs to be to be
- 27:44Speaker 5: healthy and to be on the field for one hundred
- 27:46Speaker 5: and sixty two games.

- 28:33Speaker 2: Box one Streaming Now, Hey we're back, and Mike Trout says,
- 28:38Speaker 2: I'm back the quote post game, I felt like myself
- 28:41Speaker 2: again out there being in center and stealing bags. It
- 28:44Speaker 2: was a fun win. Trout had a day. They kept walking.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Them, and then when they didn't, he made them pay.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Todd Father, we've seen this was it last year of
- 28:52Speaker 2: the year before where he got off to a banger
- 28:55Speaker 2: start and he was running and doing the whole deal.
- 28:58Speaker 2: I'm not doubting that part. And I'm I mean, I'm
- 29:01Speaker 2: actually on the other side here where Todd Father. People
- 29:03Speaker 2: be like, oh, Trout's washed. I'm like, nah, he's just
- 29:06Speaker 2: injury prone and the body's breaking down when he plays.
- 29:09Speaker 1: He's still a star.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Oh, I agree.
- 29:12Speaker 4: One hundred three walks, a monster home run to basically
- 29:17Speaker 4: win the game, to get him up one nutting in
- 29:19Speaker 4: the seventh inning. He looks good. He's a superstar. I
- 29:23Speaker 4: don't care what anybody says. Yeah, he had a couple
- 29:25Speaker 4: of years where you know, it hurt him. It hurt
- 29:27Speaker 4: him a lot, knowing that what could have been he
- 29:30Speaker 4: was breaking all types of records. He's on track to
- 29:33Speaker 4: break some of the oldest records alive, you know, help
- 29:36Speaker 4: by Mickey Mantle and all those guys. But again, he's
- 29:38Speaker 4: a star. He's a stud. I need him healthy for
- 29:42Speaker 4: the whole year, no matter what he does. A good
- 29:45Speaker 4: healthy Mike Trout not only gonna help himself, it's gonna
- 29:48Speaker 4: help the Angels and it's gonna help baseball.
- 29:50Speaker 3: And this is a great start for him. And if
- 29:53Speaker 3: he's talking.
- 29:53Speaker 4: About how he feels right now, sky's the limit for
- 29:56Speaker 4: this guy getting back to being one of the top
- 29:58Speaker 4: five guys in the league for sure.
- 30:02Speaker 5: I mean, he's not gonna sit there on opening Day
- 30:04Speaker 5: and go three walks in a thinger and go ooh,
- 30:07Speaker 5: I'm gassed. The only person that ever did that was
- 30:10Speaker 5: Lorenzo Kane. Lorenzo Kane first opening Day, He's like, my
- 30:15Speaker 5: legs are tired of my feet hurt. But no, it's good.
- 30:19Speaker 5: I mean, obviously we got to see him out there
- 30:21Speaker 5: the whole year. Looked a little looked a little more spelt,
- 30:25Speaker 5: looked a little skinnier. I didn't I didn't read anything
- 30:27Speaker 5: about him losing weight. But he looks good. Maybe he
- 30:30Speaker 5: got that tailored, maybe got that Nike tailored fit this
- 30:33Speaker 5: year instead of just like the boxy one size fits
- 30:36Speaker 5: all jersey. But he looks good. I want to look
- 30:39Speaker 5: at him for one hundred and sixty two games. He'll
- 30:41Speaker 5: be an All Star, that's for sure.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Yep.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yeah, It's team won three nothing and Jose Soriano shut
- 30:47Speaker 2: down the Astros in that one. Well, I mean they
- 30:50Speaker 2: were flailing chasing knuckle curves left and right.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Soriano looked really good.
- 30:55Speaker 2: That's a classic name that basically nobody knows, and he
- 30:59Speaker 2: pitches like what a number two starter.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I would say, borderline one. I mean, he's their best starter.
- 31:05Speaker 2: But I'm saying, even on a playoff team like this
- 31:08Speaker 2: is a guy that would start playoff games, And maybe
- 31:10Speaker 2: this is the year that you know, he makes even
- 31:13Speaker 2: more noise because even if you're on a crappy team
- 31:16Speaker 2: like you can win a sy Young Award. So maybe
- 31:18Speaker 2: he puts it together this year. I wouldn't be surprised.
- 31:20Speaker 2: He's got the stuff to do it.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Yeah. I don't know that he's necessarily got the cy
- 31:25Speaker 5: Young finisher to the season, But to me, I think
- 31:28Speaker 5: his he was he was kind of off and on
- 31:31Speaker 5: hit and miss, and I felt like last year about
- 31:33Speaker 5: three quarters of the season, it just seemed like it
- 31:35Speaker 5: was like a smooth fluid. You know, you could count
- 31:39Speaker 5: on this guy every five days and he Yeah, he's
- 31:44Speaker 5: definitely one of those. He's a top five underrated pitcher
- 31:47Speaker 5: in the game because a lot of guys don't know
- 31:49Speaker 5: about him because he pitches every five days in Anaheim.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Next up, the late game last night that started a
- 31:59Speaker 2: round ten ten o'clock East Coast time, seven o'clock in Seattle.
- 32:03Speaker 2: The Guardians beat the Mariners, and Tanner Bybee was on
- 32:06Speaker 2: the mound to begin that game. He was not on
- 32:09Speaker 2: the mound for as long as he wanted to be.
- 32:12Speaker 2: He left the game with right shoulder inflammation. Never great
- 32:16Speaker 2: when you see that news. Cleveland's got some pretty solid pitching,
- 32:20Speaker 2: but it does not help when bybe leaves I mean technically,
- 32:24Speaker 2: I mean he gave them five innings, so it's not
- 32:26Speaker 2: I mean seventy eight pitches. Maybe he would have gone
- 32:28Speaker 2: one more, but it was just more about the shoulder.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Never good. So for Cleveland, Todd Father, they still have
- 32:36Speaker 2: a nasty bullpen. They were able to hold down the
- 32:38Speaker 2: Mariners for the most part. I think they gave up
- 32:40Speaker 2: one run, yep, one run After that point, he three
- 32:42Speaker 2: were charged.
- 32:43Speaker 1: To Bibbey's account, they won.
- 32:44Speaker 2: They showed some more pop than I expected because Chase
- 32:47Speaker 2: Dallatter was a dude in his first regular season game.
- 32:49Speaker 2: But to me, Cleveland is playing with fire this year.
- 32:54Speaker 2: It's just they've got to have a lot of things
- 32:56Speaker 2: go their way. I know we say that and then
- 32:59Speaker 2: they still met around and end up swiping the division
- 33:02Speaker 2: from the Tigers. But I do think that it does
- 33:06Speaker 2: eventually catch up to you when you're barely touching your
- 33:09Speaker 2: big league roster in the offseason.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it does.
- 33:14Speaker 4: You know, you look at Chase the Lauder, who I
- 33:16Speaker 4: don't know about Kratzy, I got him as the rookie
- 33:18Speaker 4: of the Year over there. I think, wow, I think
- 33:24Speaker 4: you guys caught me off guard and I can't speak.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I think they will be good.
- 33:28Speaker 4: I don't know how great they will be, if that
- 33:30Speaker 4: makes any sense to you.
- 33:31Speaker 3: They're gonna win the game.
- 33:33Speaker 4: They're beating a Mariners team whose pitching staff has been
- 33:35Speaker 4: top notched for the past some odd years.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yeah, they beat a really good Gilbert I mean Logan Gilbert.
- 33:43Speaker 3: And you know.
- 33:45Speaker 4: At the end of the day, is this the offense
- 33:48Speaker 4: that's gonna bring it day in and day out. We'll
- 33:50Speaker 4: see Jose Ramirez with a big two out or two
- 33:53Speaker 4: RBI double to get them, you know, in the lead
- 33:57Speaker 4: for good pretty much.
- 33:58Speaker 3: The latter had two home runs.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see, but an injury like this Ah could
- 34:05Speaker 4: hurt him in the long run.
- 34:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, is Reys Hoskins gonna be able to
- 34:11Speaker 5: hit some dingers for him? Is you know, where are
- 34:14Speaker 5: they gonna where are they gonna get the offense from? Where?
- 34:15Speaker 5: Where's that which is always the issue? Or the Tigers
- 34:18Speaker 5: going to collapse like they did last year? To me,
- 34:21Speaker 5: they're going to be chasing the Royals again this year.
- 34:24Speaker 5: You know, Royals took kind of a year off last year.
- 34:26Speaker 5: I think they're gonna be better this year. And it's
- 34:29Speaker 5: not gonna happen without Bibby's staying healthy, without Mesek having
- 34:34Speaker 5: you know, a similar year that he did last year
- 34:37Speaker 5: down the stretch, without big truck, Big truck. Gavin Williams
- 34:42Speaker 5: needs to be legit SHACONI has to take the next step,
- 34:45Speaker 5: and I just too many things have to go right
- 34:49Speaker 5: for them to be a playoff team. But it's a
- 34:52Speaker 5: great start for them, except when Bibby goes down with shoulder.
- 34:56Speaker 5: If it was I don't know. You never want to
- 34:59Speaker 5: hear any any injuries, but shoulder inflammation you just you
- 35:03Speaker 5: hate to hear it for a guy, especially for a
- 35:06Speaker 5: guy who is locked in to be a guardian for
- 35:10Speaker 5: I think till twenty thirty. I think he's his extension
- 35:13Speaker 5: took him to twenty thirty, so you know, he's he's
- 35:16Speaker 5: there for a while, he's he's the guy, or he's
- 35:19Speaker 5: one of the guys, and it's just tough to see
- 35:22Speaker 5: on a team. Fortunately they got the win, but hey,
- 35:27Speaker 5: have you hit the age where everything feels a little
- 35:29Speaker 5: bit more difficult the jim, yes, but everything like energy
- 35:33Speaker 5: crashes in the afternoon.
- 35:37Speaker 2: You know, you might have been reading about low tee
- 35:40Speaker 2: and you see your doctor about it and they want
- 35:43Speaker 2: to give you basically shots every week for the rest
- 35:46Speaker 2: of your life. Oh cool, that sounds fun. And then
- 35:48Speaker 2: you dig deeper and you realize what you're signing up for,
- 35:50Speaker 2: and it's three grand a year to shut down your
- 35:53Speaker 2: body's natural production forever.
- 35:54Speaker 1: That is brutal.

- 36:05Speaker 5: It's like hitting the reset button on your hormone factory
- 36:08Speaker 5: instead of shutting it down.

- 36:25Speaker 2: our show and tell them we sent you. You can turn
- 36:28Speaker 2: the game's biggest plays into moments that you will remember
- 36:30Speaker 2: with an MLB Odds Boost token for the on field
- 36:33Speaker 2: action and score a bigger payout on a winning bet
- 36:36Speaker 2: that's at bet MGM den win problem or concerned called
- 36:39Speaker 2: one eight hundred gambler. He's back to back years. If
- 36:42Speaker 2: thirty one starts, I mean he makes all his starts.
- 36:45Speaker 2: If there's a problem, this would be the year where
- 36:48Speaker 2: it's an issue.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I know.
- 36:49Speaker 2: And there's more to the story. You got to look
- 36:51Speaker 2: at peripheral numbers and all that. So the IRA wasn't
- 36:53Speaker 2: as shiny last year as it was the year before
- 36:56Speaker 2: or even the first two years really of his career,
- 37:00Speaker 2: but he is still looked at as one of their
- 37:02Speaker 2: top starters. And the extension was last spring training five
- 37:05Speaker 2: years forty eight, which brought out at least one year
- 37:08Speaker 2: free agency, maybe two. So yeah, that takes him through
- 37:12Speaker 2: twenty thirty, that is correct. So they're going to make
- 37:17Speaker 2: sure that everything's good. That's a long term asset making
- 37:21Speaker 2: some cash with the Cleveland Guardians. Okay, next up, one
- 37:25Speaker 2: more debut that I did not mention towards the top,
- 37:27Speaker 2: just because I mean, unless I miss something, he didn't
- 37:29Speaker 2: do something crazy. Justin Crawford makes his debut yesterday for
- 37:34Speaker 2: the Phillies, and this was him pregame doing what he
- 37:36Speaker 2: apparently does before just about every game, gets to the park,
- 37:40Speaker 2: takes a walk, takes it all in, and of course
- 37:42Speaker 2: does it without any socks or shoes on, no cleats,
- 37:47Speaker 2: just grounding. So this was Sam Jellinick tweeting. Fun fact,
- 37:54Speaker 2: it's not just a one off stroll for his debut.
- 37:56Speaker 2: He did this every day in Lehigh Valley where he
- 37:58Speaker 2: played there, typically right when he arrived to the park,
- 38:00Speaker 2: like clockwork, headphones, barefoot, warn't in tracking back, very meticulous
- 38:06Speaker 2: with his routine.
- 38:09Speaker 4: Did you do that Todd grounding? It's called grounding yourself.
- 38:14Speaker 4: I remember Noah Cindergard used to do that in Colorado.
- 38:17Speaker 4: I guess because the high elevations, and I don't know.
- 38:20Speaker 4: They say it's really good for you. So yeah, man, listen,
- 38:23Speaker 4: if you got a routine, stick with it. I don't
- 38:25Speaker 4: care if.
- 38:26Speaker 3: You're the young buck or you're the old veteran.
- 38:29Speaker 4: That's what he wants to do to get going, keeps
- 38:31Speaker 4: getting knocks and helping his team win.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I might jump in and do it with him too.
- 38:38Speaker 5: I would do it, get it not. I mean, it's
- 38:41Speaker 5: it's a thing like I love that a rookie feels
- 38:44Speaker 5: comfortable enough in the clubhouse to be able to do that. Now,
- 38:47Speaker 5: it's nothing as crazy as like what Tristan Cassis was doing.
- 38:50Speaker 5: And sometimes that kind of stuff borders on the line
- 38:54Speaker 5: of distraction. But routines, routines are so important. I couldn't
- 39:00Speaker 5: imagine going to your big league, first big league game
- 39:03Speaker 5: and having to play a different position than you played
- 39:06Speaker 5: in the minor leagues because you don't have a routine.
- 39:09Speaker 5: And so his routine was he comes to the ballpark,
- 39:12Speaker 5: he does grounding, or he walks around on that nice
- 39:15Speaker 5: green painted grass because I'm up here in Philly and
- 39:18Speaker 5: there you no green grass right now, because that John's
- 39:20Speaker 5: been frozen under some snow for the whole year. But
- 39:24Speaker 5: he's walking around on He's walking around on it just
- 39:28Speaker 5: like he did in Lee High. So then his day
- 39:30Speaker 5: starts just like it did in Lee High. Now he
- 39:33Speaker 5: goes out and he's facing a pitcher on the mound
- 39:36Speaker 5: that's gonna throw a baseball over the plate, just like
- 39:39Speaker 5: he did in Lee High. If you make it bigger
- 39:41Speaker 5: than it is, if you make it bigger and you're like,
- 39:44Speaker 5: oh my gosh, we're facing Jacob de Grom in the
- 39:47Speaker 5: second game, we faced Nathan e Valdi. That dude's got
- 39:50Speaker 5: unbelievable stuff. You're cooked. You're cooked because you're building it
- 39:54Speaker 5: up to be more than it really is.
- 39:58Speaker 2: The grounds crew anywhere in baseball is exceptional. They're the
- 40:03Speaker 2: best in the world. So you get to enjoy that.
- 40:07Speaker 2: On the grass, I like it. You get some of
- 40:09Speaker 2: the freshest, most perfect manicured grass, and you get to
- 40:14Speaker 2: walk on it with your bare feet.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I would do that every day.
- 40:17Speaker 5: The grass is tremendous. I loved big lea grass. You
- 40:21Speaker 5: laying it, you rub your hand across it.
- 40:23Speaker 1: You know what you're gonna say, how do you walk
- 40:26Speaker 1: across the warning track with bare feet?
- 40:28Speaker 5: I'd be getting them stones I'd be like, oh ah,
- 40:32Speaker 5: and then you get to the grass and you're wiping,
- 40:33Speaker 5: you're wiping the dirt off, and then you're like, I
- 40:35Speaker 5: gotta get off the grass back into it. Maybe he's
- 40:38Speaker 5: got his sandals across the track, parks his sandals on
- 40:43Speaker 5: the grass, and then we go to business.
- 40:47Speaker 3: You know one field that you wouldn't do it on
- 40:49Speaker 3: if you can take your guess anybody.
- 40:53Speaker 5: I can't. I can't think of it.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Tampa ta.
- 40:59Speaker 5: On turt I wouldn't hate I won't hate it. They
- 41:01Speaker 5: got new turf this year too, so it's it's fluffy
- 41:04Speaker 5: like it's fluffy like Scott's hair, that new turf. It's
- 41:07Speaker 5: not Maden down fluffy.
- 41:11Speaker 3: I have a walk on there.
- 41:13Speaker 5: I would welcome you here.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you.
- 41:16Speaker 2: A couple things before we get to Pap while we
- 41:18Speaker 2: wait for him to call us from games yesterday, just
- 41:22Speaker 2: to finish up recapping the miz shut down the White Sox.
- 41:26Speaker 2: AJ was here with me yesterday. We were watching that
- 41:28Speaker 2: game fourteen to two. The Brewers look good. The White
- 41:32Speaker 2: Sox obviously are not going to be great, but there
- 41:35Speaker 2: were higher expectations for them.
- 41:36Speaker 1: It is one game Shane Smith did not pitched well.
- 41:40Speaker 2: That was my big thing Todd Father, was you know,
- 41:43Speaker 2: there's a lot that you can overreact to in the
- 41:46Speaker 2: first game of the season, but I did want to
- 41:47Speaker 2: see Miz control swing and miss the whole deal. Five innings,
- 41:51Speaker 2: a run, eleven strikeouts against an offense that was pretty
- 41:54Speaker 2: good the last few months of the year the White
- 41:57Speaker 2: Sox last year, and Murakami eventually got a home or
- 41:59Speaker 2: not off Miz but later in the game in the
- 42:01Speaker 2: ninth that was a bomb. But if the mizz can
- 42:04Speaker 2: pitch like that, that's what the Brewers need, right They
- 42:08Speaker 2: lost Freddy. Hopefully Woodroff stays healthy this season. Who did there, well,
- 42:13Speaker 2: Cheerio's hurt. That's on the position player side. But you
- 42:16Speaker 2: need a guy like this, who could be one of
- 42:18Speaker 2: the top arms in the leaked to put consistency together
- 42:21Speaker 2: in his first full season here coming up and all
- 42:23Speaker 2: of a sudden, it changes the narrative for the Brewers
- 42:25Speaker 2: and actually doesn't change the narrative. It would put them
- 42:27Speaker 2: in the same place where they always are, which is
- 42:29Speaker 2: in the playoff mix.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Krasty eleven k three walks gave up.
- 42:36Speaker 4: When you saw the game, they gave up the first
- 42:38Speaker 4: inning home the first at bat Homer, and I was like, oh, no,
- 42:41Speaker 4: here we go, that's a miss little left center. And
- 42:44Speaker 4: then got the next strikeout, next strikeout, and it kind
- 42:48Speaker 4: of simmered down after that. So you know, solo home
- 42:52Speaker 4: runs aren't going to beat you, but the first batter
- 42:55Speaker 4: giving it up, you're like, oh, man, what a start
- 42:56Speaker 4: to the year. But he came into his own and
- 42:58Speaker 4: threw really really well. What a presence, What a presence
- 43:02Speaker 4: him on the mound, man, Just the height, the length
- 43:05Speaker 4: when he finishes, he's like forty five feet from home plate.
- 43:08Speaker 4: So if this is where he's going, this is where
- 43:12Speaker 4: he has to be really really good things for Milwaukee.
- 43:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I don't hate their rotation. I think
- 43:21Speaker 5: their rotation can do a lot of great things. When
- 43:24Speaker 5: you talk about Big WU, you talk about sprot you
- 43:27Speaker 5: talk about what could Kyle Harrison do. If there's a
- 43:31Speaker 5: place that's not turned guy's careers around but really gotten
- 43:35Speaker 5: them closer to their ceiling, it's Milwaukee. But also you've
- 43:40Speaker 5: sat there and you've had the last few years. You've
- 43:43Speaker 5: had Big WU, You've had freddie p, you've had Corbin Burns,
- 43:48Speaker 5: Guys that had high ceilings, But had they been somewhere else,
- 43:53Speaker 5: they would have done the same thing. To me, it's
- 43:54Speaker 5: about health for this team. If you look at the
- 43:58Speaker 5: fact that you know Roberts on the DL, Logan Henderson's
- 44:02Speaker 5: on the d L, the fact that iol I'm sorry il,
- 44:05Speaker 5: the fact that DL Hall a guy that they had
- 44:09Speaker 5: expected when he came over in the Corbyn Burns trade
- 44:12Speaker 5: to kind of be one of those reclamation projects. Well
- 44:16Speaker 5: now he's in the bullpen currently. Could he be a
- 44:18Speaker 5: starter again? He needs to stay healthy. They need to
- 44:21Speaker 5: stay healthy for them to do what they've done. But
- 44:24Speaker 5: then again, I sit there and I go, they've had
- 44:26Speaker 5: injuries every year, they've lost, they've lost aces, they've lost
- 44:30Speaker 5: closers or gotten rid of them, not lost them, gotten
- 44:33Speaker 5: rid of them, And all of a sudden, there they
- 44:35Speaker 5: are in the playoffs again. So what it is that
- 44:37Speaker 5: the Brewers do? They just figure out how to win.
- 44:41Speaker 5: But is this bad because they won fourteen to two
- 44:46Speaker 5: on opening Day and they got molly wopped last year
- 44:50Speaker 5: on opening day in the whole opening series by the
- 44:52Speaker 5: illegal torpedo bats? So is this the opposite reaction? We'll
- 44:58Speaker 5: wait and see.
- 45:12Speaker 1: One thing.
- 45:12Speaker 2: For me here, we always do the happy retirement. We
- 45:16Speaker 2: got one right before the show started, Jason Hayward's calling it.
- 45:20Speaker 2: So congrats to Jason Hayward. Successful career, World Series ring,
- 45:25Speaker 2: a bunch of money, very well respected in the game.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Cheers to you.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Never heard a bad word about the guy. And for
- 45:34Speaker 5: him to be able to have a ring, Yeah, the
- 45:36Speaker 5: money's awesome too, But he was going to make a
- 45:38Speaker 5: lot of money no matter what to be able to
- 45:40Speaker 5: get the ring, and the way people talk about him,
- 45:43Speaker 5: it's a guy I wish I had as a teammate.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember him, Yeah, remember him hitting that home
- 45:50Speaker 4: run in Atlanta, Remember his first first time first It was.
- 45:55Speaker 3: So cool man.
- 45:56Speaker 4: So congratulations man, go out and get some warm weather
- 46:00Speaker 4: and enjoyed life.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Yeah, sixteen seasons in the Big Oh. When he first
- 46:04Speaker 2: came up, we already knew that he was a super
- 46:07Speaker 2: athlete and he was a great defender, and so then
- 46:09Speaker 2: we were like the bat. There was a lot of
- 46:11Speaker 2: variants throughout his career, right, and he was always tweaking
- 46:15Speaker 2: and trying to figure out what would get his swing
- 46:18Speaker 2: to the right place. But even through all of that,
- 46:20Speaker 2: he was so good defensively that he always had a
- 46:23Speaker 2: spot that was the thing.
- 46:25Speaker 5: They both came up around the same time. I think
- 46:28Speaker 5: it was very close, Freddy Freeman Jason Hayward, and they
- 46:33Speaker 5: were like, one guy is this type of player? Another
- 46:36Speaker 5: guy is this type of player? And people were like,
- 46:38Speaker 5: I don't know, you know, Jason Hayward ridiculous. He runs
- 46:41Speaker 5: like a deer in the outfield. Freddy Freeman's a first baseman.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Who's going to have the better career? I remember those
- 46:48Speaker 5: discussions and they both broke into the scene popping. Freddie
- 46:52Speaker 5: Freeman had some big dingers against Roy Holiday, so it
- 46:54Speaker 5: was cool to see now where the careers are.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yep, Freddy's still going, probably for several more years. He
- 47:00Speaker 2: wants to all right, enjoy the weekend, the games crats
- 47:03Speaker 2: hats on the way out.
- 47:07Speaker 5: Netherlands. The WBC hands Netherlands. It's actually a really nice hat.
- 47:13Speaker 5: I'm a rocklers John.
- 47:14Speaker 2: All weekend Boom Dutch, see everyone enjoy the games.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Happy real games Weekend
