Latest / Sea Hawkers Podcast: for Seattle Seahawks fans / Drew Lock Shines, JSN Goes Off, and the Defense Shuts Down Arizona
Transcript
- 0:10Brandan: Hello, and welcome to the Sea Hawkers Podcast.
- 0:14I'm Brandan Schulze, and I am joined by a couple of my good buddies who
- 0:18just got done doing an entire live stream for about three and a half
- 0:23hours as they watched this game versus the Arizona Cardinals live.
- 0:27We get the win 31 to seven, blowing out the Cardinals in their home stadium.
- 0:34How you doing, Adam?
- 0:35Adam: Hey, time flies when you're having fun.
- 0:37And boy, it was a ball in the second half, boys, as the Seahawks just
- 0:41throttled the Cardinals and then choked the life out of them down the stretch.
- 0:44Clinton, it was an enjoyable game.
- 0:46I love doing the, the live with you.
- 0:48Yeah.
- 0:48everybody that was with us too, that was a good time.
- 0:51lot of cool things to come out of this game, bud.
- 0:53Clinton: Yeah, man, you know, if you do what you love, they say
- 0:56it's, it's not work at all, right?
- 0:57So that was a lot of fun.
- 0:58Lot of cool things.
- 0:59And A- Brandan, you pointed out in the commenting at the end of the
- 1:04first half where, you know, I had a little, little consternation, a
- 1:07little, a little worry and concern that we're only at seven-seven.
- 1:10You're like, "We outplayed them, and we're the better team."
- 1:12You kinda like just put like something.
- 1:14I'm paraphrasing a bit.
- 1:15Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15But it kinda calmed me down a bit.
- 1:17I was like, "Oh, he's right.
- 1:18He's completely right."
- 1:19And then for the entire second half, starting with the kickoff
- 1:23we just absolutely BTA'd the Arizona Cardinals as…
- 1:27You know, they, they were cute thinking they were going to two and O, but
- 1:29it was inevitable, Brandan.
- 1:32Brandan: It, it was, and JSN was inevitable, catching three touchdown
- 1:37passes against this Arizona Cardinals defense, nine receptions, 155
- 1:45yards during the game.
- 1:46They, they put up the graphic, him against Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 1:50I would've been fine with the graphic of him up against Trey
- 1:53McBride- Uh-huh… because we played the Arizona Trey McBrides.
- 1:56And, and he finished the game with a respectable eight catches
- 2:0041 yards, and a touchdown.
- 2:03But, majorly dwarfed Adam, by the production of JSN.
- 2:08Adam: Absolutely, and McBride is a weapon, no doubt about it
- 2:11but it's really is about the only thing they have offensively.
- 2:15I mean, the graphic with Harrison in, JSN is hilarious as they, continue
- 2:20to compare former college teammates and how the Seahawks', college teammates
- 2:26came out im- were clearly superior in this game as, Jadarian Price also
- 2:30out-rushes Jeremiyah Love 52 to 29 yards.
- 2:34Hmm.
- 2:34But, Harrison was a non-factor.
- 2:38Michael Wilson I think had one catch- Who?
- 2:40… for a first down- Who?
- 2:41… that we were excited about.
- 2:42Clinton: Who?
- 2:43Adam: Who?
- 2:43Who?
- 2:43Who?
- 2:43it's a name I've heard.
- 2:44Okay.
- 2:44Good name.
- 2:45I, I don't know.
- 2:45Yeah.
- 2:46Clinton: Okay.
- 2:46Just making sure.
- 2:46Adam: But, Seahawks defense keeping everything in front of them
- 2:50throughout this game and really just kinda snuffing the life out
- 2:52of the checked-down Cardinals.
- 2:54Clinton: Mm-hmm.
- 2:55that was, that was probably the biggest observation the first half was
- 2:57like we're sitting there going like, "All they're doing is checking down."
- 3:01But early, Brandan, it was like they check down and get seven, so they're like in
- 3:05they're in second and two or three, and Jeremiyah Love looked fine at that point.
- 3:10And Allgeier can go get two or three yards, so didn't love that formula.
- 3:14But as the game wore on, they, they also took away, they just stopped giving away
- 3:19the free six, seven yarders, and the Cardinals had absolutely zero answers.
- 3:24it was…
- 3:25It all starts up front.
- 3:26We know that.
- 3:27And we, I feel like we, Brandan, got, as the game kept on going from
- 3:31the third to the fourth quarter, we just kept getting better.
- 3:34That was a, a very solid performance of four quarter football, second
- 3:39half being like magnificent.
- 3:40Brandan: Yeah.
- 3:41Great to see them just jelly it down the throats of the Arizona
- 3:44Cardinals toward the end of the game.
- 3:45We've got Ryan911, our live executive producer, coming in with a 9.99
- 3:51Super Chat.
- 3:51Thank you.
- 3:52"Go Hawks.
- 3:53Great team win.
- 3:54Drew looked incredible.
- 3:56JSN is inevitable, and the dark side is good."
- 4:00And Drew Lock finishing the game 19 of 26, 235 yards.
- 4:06That's an average of nine yards, per completion, three touchdowns.
- 4:13Of course, the 82-yarder, Adam, to kick off the game against the Cardinals.
- 4:17you know, you would think that they would've heard of this
- 4:20guy named Jaxon Smith-Njigba-
- 4:22on our Seattle Seahawks, and they go, "Oh, first passing play of the game?
- 4:26Eh, we don't need to cover that dude."
- 4:28Adam: No, we don't need to cover that dude that gave up the 82-yarder.
- 4:31Would've loved to have seen it.
- 4:32Thanks a lot, freaking Fox.
- 4:34Like- Oh my gosh… I did not need to watch Green Bay-Jets overtime.
- 4:37Oh, that's right.
- 4:38Didn't need it in my life.
- 4:39Didn't need it, but-
- 4:41Brandan: Let me tell you something else-… moving on… about that.
- 4:42You used- Yeah… to be able to, with DirecTV- Yep… if you had Game
- 4:46Pass, you could go to the four boxer.
- 4:48That's right.
- 4:48And it would show the four boxes of the live games all right now
- 4:52and they screwed us this year.
- 4:54I, I don't know what DirecTV is doing.
- 4:56Why can't we have the live box of the actual game that we're paying for
- 5:01with the, the, through the DirecTV?
- 5:03Adam: I don't
- 5:04Clinton: know, man.
- 5:04Yeah, they should all be on.
- 5:05That's it.
- 5:05They should all be available, right?
- 5:07So I think it's You- well, it's YouTube TV that owns it now, not DirecTV, right?
- 5:10Oh, yeah
- 5:10Brandan: you- YouTube TV.
- 5:11Clinton: But-
- 5:11Brandan: Whatever… the four- Those, it's those guys that are screwing us.
- 5:13Clinton: But the four box is great, but you're, I mean, you're 100% right, guys.
- 5:16It's just a shame, like, hey, there's, there's no space in the
- 5:20world where the game that you…
- 5:22the reason you subscribe to the whole package is to watch that team.
- 5:25Like, make a button, favorite team, click.
- 5:28Okay, so if overtime, play your favorite team game, override that?
- 5:33Yes.
- 5:33Very simple.
- 5:34Or like, hey, we're gonna assume, since it's your favorite team, you don't
- 5:38gotta go through these freaking hoops to watch your favorite freaking team.
- 5:41But I was happy.
- 5:41But
- 5:41Brandan: that's not the point.
- 5:42The, the point is- Yeah, yeah… Jason Smith and Jigba, with the touchdown
- 5:46Clinton: early-
- 5:47Brandan: Wide open… on in the game puts
- 5:47Clinton: us ahead.
- 5:47Wide open.
- 5:48Guys, they d- they decided to not cov- Budda is chasing him, like
- 5:51from 10 yards back, 10 yards back.
- 5:53And the, the cornerback just, like, lets him go.
- 5:57So I…
- 5:58clear, clear mis- miscommunication.
- 5:59Go back a wi- he's wide ass open.
- 6:02So between Budda probably thought the cornerback was gonna, you
- 6:04know, co- carry with him.
- 6:06Quarterback had other ideas, Adam, and, you know, very, very
- 6:09quickly it is 7-0, good guys.
- 6:12Adam: Yeah, it was.
- 6:13And what a great way for Drew to start out the game and have that big confidence
- 6:16boost and, you know, kinda get the juice flowing, for the full offense.
- 6:20Even though offense was a little choppy in the first half.
- 6:23couldn't really run the ball as effectively as they'd like.
- 6:27And, you know, they end up closing the half out 7-7.
- 6:30And then what's really amazing about this team is you have a set of
- 6:36coaches on their sides of the ball with Coach Mike and Coach Fleury
- 6:40that went into halftime and made some fantastic adjustments and were just
- 6:44completely dominant in the second half.
- 6:47Brandan: We've got Shane Turner Acoustic in with 799 Australian, "Total dominance
- 6:51no drop off lock, O-line dominant, D dominant, pre-snap penalty dominant."
- 6:56Yeah.
- 6:57"Shout out to my daughter McKinley for watching the game."
- 6:59Oh, you got a little watching buddy.
- 7:01And I, I did wanna go back to what you were talking about in
- 7:04terms of y- with the first half.
- 7:07It, the reason why, to me, it felt like, not a big of a concern
- 7:13i- is you compare the two drives.
- 7:15The Seahawks had what?
- 7:17six drives, I think, if you count that final one that was only like 25 seconds.
- 7:23But, they moved…
- 7:25A- apart from one, where they had a, a loss of negative two yards
- 7:29the first drive was the 86 yards after, the, the big touchdown.
- 7:34So 86 yard drive.
- 7:35Then they had a 27 yard drive on three plays, so they moved the ball.
- 7:39Then they had the 41, yard drive where, you know, they
- 7:44they moved the ball a little bit.
- 7:46I think they e- ended up having to punt that one.
- 7:48Turned it over on downs when they had the short field of 29 yards.
- 7:52So they were moving the ball every single possession, apart from one.
- 7:57And then you looked at the Cardinals, and their longest drive, which resulted
- 8:01in the touchdown, was the 53 yard drive.
- 8:03Adam: Mm.
- 8:04It, it was.
- 8:05And look, i- the offense, if we're gonna stick on that subject for a
- 8:09second, you know, the first half, one of the things that kind of kept them
- 8:12from staying on schedule and continuing those drives was there, there was three
- 8:17drops in the first half, you know?
- 8:18Mm-hmm.
- 8:18Two by- Yeah… Shaheed and one by JSN that were, kind of killers there.
- 8:22So yeah, it did feel like the plays were there to be made, in all of that.
- 8:27You mentioned the Cards, and they, they had the one long drive.
- 8:30It was a 12 play drive.
- 8:32Their next longest drive, and they had a couple of them, were six plays.
- 8:35Mm.
- 8:36Defense really stepped up and just smothered the life out of these guys.
- 8:40Clinton: We, we won by 24, so that's obv- obviously a blowout.
- 8:44In a game where we turned the ball over at the half yard line also.
- 8:48You know, this was-
- 8:49Adam: And Price had a fumble.
- 8:50Clinton: And Price had a fumble, right.
- 8:52So definitely had- Kind of a
- 8:52Brandan: fumble.
- 8:54Clinton: Well, he
- 8:54Brandan: r- I could picture, Clinton losing his mind- Well, yeah… about
- 8:57them not stopping forward progress in time
- 9:00Clinton: on that one.
- 9:00Look, back, it just, just my…
- 9:01You know, you guys know I'm not gonna drain it.
- 9:03My point is-… back in the day, that the whistle's blown because they
- 9:06all did it because they don't want a, a, a running back, you know, getting
- 9:10hit unnecessarily when the play's clearly over and momentum has stopped.
- 9:13So that's what they used to call.
- 9:15They don't do it anymore.
- 9:16That's fine.
- 9:17He's gonna hold them to the ball regardless.
- 9:19Not a great day for Price, but okay.
- 9:21Okay.
- 9:22And, seemingly and maybe a little dinged, guys.
- 9:25It looks like a, maybe a little bit of a chest injury.
- 9:27However- Yeah
- 9:28Brandan: L.J.
- 9:28Collier landed on him, pretty hard- Oh
- 9:30on that final run
- 9:32Brandan: where-
- 9:32Clinton: Ah.
- 9:33Gotcha.
- 9:33Okay
- 9:33… Brandan: so you could kind of see him getting up a little
- 9:35gingerly, and then he never made it back on the field after that.
- 9:37Clinton: One more point on, on, Price is that the nice thing is there's
- 9:42a play out there where Price is lowering his shoulder and running over Wingard
- 9:47and it's caught the- That's so good.
- 9:48It's…
- 9:48Yeah, it didn't, I didn't catch it live, but it's caught the attention
- 9:52of one Kyle Brandt who likes to do- Oh, yeah… the angry run.
- 9:54So at the very least, you know, he'll be an angry run candidate, it
- 9:58sounds like, coming in next week.
- 9:59I
- 9:59Brandan: think we should call him Wingard from now on after that hit.
- 10:03Clinton: Like-
- 10:03Adam: What, what, what's his actual name?
- 10:05Brandan: W-I-N- Wingard, Wingard
- 10:06Clinton: Oh, Wingard, yeah
- 10:08Brandan: Wingard?
- 10:08Clinton: Yeah, Wingard.
- 10:09Who pronounces it Wingard?
- 10:13Absolutely, we
- 10:13Brandan: can go.
- 10:14Yeah We, we've got Z- got Zero Hawk in with $10.
- 10:17Love it.
- 10:17JSN is like Thanos, inevitable.
- 10:20What a great win in the second half.
- 10:22Emanuel Wilson looked like a true RB one.
- 10:25Ooh.
- 10:2621 carries, guys.
- 10:27Sure.
- 10:2792 yards.
- 10:28And I know, Adam, you wanna switch over to the defense, but I keep
- 10:30I keep, hammering stats on the offensive side of the ball.
- 10:34Adam: Hey, hey, w- let's, let's stay on the offense then
- 10:36if that's your flavor of the day.
- 10:37After scoring 31 points, I can understand how you would get there.
- 10:40Look, Wilson in the second half, he, he really did bring the physicality
- 10:44and the offensive line did a nice job of giving him some room to work, and
- 10:50he just continually just jellied it and jellied it right down their throats.
- 10:54And there was nothing the Cards could do to stop it, and they were able to
- 10:59bleed out the entire fourth quarter nearly just behind the pads of Emanuel Wilson.
- 11:04So very productive day from him, and that was fun.
- 11:08Clinton: Very fun.
- 11:09Are we…
- 11:10Look, the stats, if we're looking at some of this stuff here, Emmanuel
- 11:15Wilson does the job, as you're saying.
- 11:1621, 92.
- 11:17Very, very good stuff.
- 11:18Price, 13 for 52.
- 11:20Not bad at all.
- 11:21So the averages of four and 4.4
- 11:23you know, going, going back up the chain towards Wilson.
- 11:26Are we at all concerned that it's the JSN show again?
- 11:30I know we won a chip last year, but I know the- I haven't thought
- 11:32Adam: on this.
- 11:32Clinton: Yeah Right, because, now Emanuel Wilson and Price
- 11:36combine f- we have 162 yards on the ground, 162, so, you know, take…
- 11:41That's really good.
- 11:42But the first half of last year was the JSN show until it wasn't, and then we
- 11:47kinda changed and became a different team.
- 11:49So if you have a thought on it, Adam, love to hear it.
- 11:51Adam: Yeah, I mean, it was right in the vein that you were going with
- 11:54there towards the end of your comment and just the idea of like this looks a lot
- 11:57like the offense from last year in terms of how it evolved throughout the year.
- 12:03We start out and, look, first game was a little rough.
- 12:06I can't remember how many points we scored against the Niners.
- 12:08It feels like it was about 13-ish.
- 12:1013 Yeah, yeah, you know, same as we did against the Patriots.
- 12:14And then, you know, the passing game was able to like pick up for the next like
- 12:20seven weeks or so, seven, eight weeks.
- 12:22And you could tell the Cardinals, they're like, oh, backup quarterback, all that.
- 12:25You're gonna run the football.
- 12:26They were really fixated on trying to stop the run and do it early, and so
- 12:30that opens up things through the air.
- 12:33And look, if teams wanna play us that way, that's the beauty
- 12:36of this style of offense.
- 12:37Clinton: Mm-hmm.
- 12:38Adam: If teams want to play you that way and they're like, "Look, we
- 12:40know you wanna try to run the football.
- 12:41That's what you guys do.
- 12:42That's how you won your Super Bowl by running the rock.
- 12:45We're not gonna allow you to do that," well, okay.
- 12:46Then we'll just do what we did the first half of the year and have the
- 12:48JSN fireworks show, whether that's Sam Darnold getting him the pill
- 12:52or whether that's, Drew Lock.
- 12:54So at the end of the day, it's kind of interesting to see the, offensive
- 13:00evolution of Fleury through two games really match what Kubiak was going
- 13:04through early in his first year as offensive coordinator for the Chiefs.
- 13:07Brandan: We've got DCH in saying, "This is nothing like the beginning of last year.
- 13:11Much better run game."
- 13:12And- And that's what I would point out, especially in this game
- 13:15too, Clinton, because- Mm-hmm.
- 13:17Okay, let- let's do the thing where you take out one play, and- and
- 13:21take out the 82-yard touchdown by JSN.
- 13:23Mm-hmm.
- 13:23Then it's eight catches, 73 yards, and two touchdowns.
- 13:29Clinton: Not that bad.
- 13:29It's
- 13:30Brandan: still not bad.
- 13:31No, no.
- 13:31But- but it's also you know, if- if you're gonna
- 13:34If it's gonna be the JSN show for touchdowns, okay.
- 13:38Clinton: Yeah.
- 13:38Brandan: No.
- 13:38That- that's fine.
- 13:39And- Great point… the- the number of passes, it- it was 19 total receptions.
- 13:44They- Wow… they pushed the b- th- that was for the entire offense, so- Right
- 13:47right… nine receptions of 19 goes to JSN, so they- they split it up 50/50.
- 13:53And then the other offensive plays, 40 carries on the ground.
- 13:58Adam: Wow.
- 13:58It's
- 13:59Clinton: perfect.
- 13:59It's actually perfect, right?
- 14:00That's a great balance.
- 14:01Brandan: Yeah.
- 14:01Adam: And that's the numbers you're gonna get when you get up
- 14:04early in the second half and you're trying to grind something out.
- 14:07And we kind of mentioned it during the live broadcast, is I enjoy the awareness
- 14:12of Fleury and the discipline to get into the second half and be like, "Look," like
- 14:15"we don't need to reinvent the wheel here.
- 14:17Let's just pound it down their throat, take the air out of the football.
- 14:19The defense isn't gonna let them score.
- 14:21Let's just win this game."
- 14:23Yeah.
- 14:23And I, I think that's a very mature, thing for a first time play caller.
- 14:28Clinton: Yeah, for sure, dudes.
- 14:29So I know, I know we gotta talk some Drew.
- 14:31We have to talk Drew.
- 14:32We haven't really hit him yet.
- 14:33I also do wanna just talk about our run D once again, 'cause
- 14:38there's some glaring stats there.
- 14:39So Brandan, it's always a choose your own adventure, buddy, but where do
- 14:43you wanna, where do you wanna go next?
- 14:44Brandan: I want to talk about the defense- All right.
- 14:46Oh, heck no… because when you hold…
- 14:48Yeah, I did.
- 14:48When you hold a team to just seven points-
- 14:51Clinton: th-
- 14:51Brandan: they, they allow one touchdown in the first half on
- 14:55it was a, it was short field.
- 14:57They only had to drive 50 yards.
- 14:59And, and then apart from that, yeah, they, they hold Jacoby
- 15:05Brissett to 95 total yards passing on 17 completions, 28 attempts.
- 15:13So that's, you know, 3.4
- 15:15average.
- 15:15I, I suppose the yards per attempt's even lower than that.
- 15:19and then the ground game, th- this team continues to stifle the
- 15:24run game of every opponent, and that was what Cardinals fans were hanging
- 15:28their hats on coming to this game.
- 15:30Oh, Jeremiyah Love, close the book, he's already better than Jadarian Price.
- 15:35Well, Jeremiyah Love, nine carries, 29 yards, 3.2
- 15:40yards per carry, zero touchdowns.
- 15:44This defense shut him down.
- 15:46They shut down Tyler Allgeier who had two yards per carry.
- 15:50The, the guy who ended up leading in average was Bam Knight because he
- 15:54had an 18-yard carry in the fourth quarter on their last possession.
- 15:58Adam: That's right.
- 15:59Hey, welcome to the dark side, Arizona Cardinal fans.
- 16:02this is what they do.
- 16:04You're not gonna run the football on this team.
- 16:06You're not gonna do it.
- 16:07We s- you know, shut down the Patriots last week, and to Clinton's
- 16:10point during the live stream, watching the Patriots today really
- 16:14run wild in their football game.
- 16:16So, yeah, this run defense is no joke, and when you take that away
- 16:21from a quarterback like Brissett, it makes it really difficult for him to
- 16:24just put it on his shoulders and go out and win the game, especially when
- 16:28the defensive line did such a nice job of getting pressure up the middle.
- 16:32And really making life uncomfortable.
- 16:35And then the funny thing I feel from this game, defensively speaking
- 16:39Clinton, you talked a lot about the Cards podcast you listen to.
- 16:42Yeah.
- 16:42And how they're like, "Oh, their secondary, there's
- 16:44nobody on their secondary."
- 16:45We're like, "Yeah, I know."
- 16:47they're gonna, they're gonna not allow anyb- buddy to do jack or
- 16:50[catfish] other than, Trey McBride.
- 16:52So, outside of McBride with his eight receptions, Michael
- 16:56Wilson, two c- two catches.
- 16:57Jeremiyah Love, so your running back with two.
- 16:59Mm-hmm.
- 17:00He was your second leading pass catcher.
- 17:02and then Kendrick Bourne with two, and then, Marvin Harrison, the
- 17:07worst Ohio State receiver, to say.
- 17:10Clinton: Dude, it
- 17:10Adam: yeah.
- 17:10So let's give credit to Pritchett, Thomas, you know, the guys that were coming in
- 17:16as backups and they did their job today.
- 17:19Clinton: Emmanwori back out there as well, right?
- 17:21Doing a nice job a couple times in, in the dropping back and his coverage
- 17:25as kind of a safety linebacker.
- 17:26But I was gonna, like, jump on the Trey thing, but then you kept on
- 17:30going, and I gotta start with, you know, Marvin Harrison was picked
- 17:33what, fourth overall, right?
- 17:35Yeah.
- 17:35Fourth?
- 17:37One target for z- for zeros.
- 17:39Z- guy- zeros, guys.
- 17:42So the problem with this is, like, the entire next week for Cardinals
- 17:46fans, like, they were like in a, a b- like, almost like a, a near
- 17:50heavenly state just last week.
- 17:52They're gonna be…
- 17:53This is not purgatory.
- 17:55This is like the, the Dante's, you know, steps of hell there, right?
- 17:57The layers of hell levels.
- 17:59They're pretty darn close to the bottom level now because they get blown out by
- 18:03big brother while wearing, wearing their rival jerseys, but their dude that they
- 18:07keep saying is a guy has a goose egg.
- 18:11And that is disgusting.
- 18:13Take it back to the top real quick.
- 18:14Yeah, McBride got eight, but it was for 41 frigging yards, guys.
- 18:2041 yards.
- 18:20Yep.
- 18:20They are nowhere near- And they
- 18:22Brandan: had to go for it- No… on fourth down to get that touchdown.
- 18:25Clinton: Yeah.
- 18:25Good
- 18:25Adam: call.
- 18:25Yeah.
- 18:26Yep.
- 18:26And look, he beat Job on that one, and sometimes- Yes, he did… you
- 18:29get got and, and that's fine.
- 18:30And Job
- 18:30Brandan: played that well, too.
- 18:32Adam: Yeah.
- 18:32It wasn't like he was completely embarrassed.
- 18:34It's not
- 18:34Brandan: like he got, yeah, torched.
- 18:36Clinton: No, he
- 18:36Adam: he- But-
- 18:37Clinton: McBride's way bigger.
- 18:38That's what it boils down to Yeah
- 18:39Adam: yeah.
- 18:39DCH with a comment here.
- 18:41"Love seeing, Jarran
- 18:42Reed, looking 23 years old again."
- 18:44Oh
- 18:45Clinton: man
- 18:46Adam: that
- 18:46Clinton: sack.
- 18:46Adam: I mean, we have to talk about the sack where, you know
- 18:50Jarran Reed, he, added to his family.
- 18:52I'm pretty sure he's a father already.
- 18:54So, he can't be like Riley Mills here, become a father there.
- 18:57But, boy, that was a man sack right there.
- 19:01That was impressive.
- 19:02Yeah, but- 'Cause Brissett's a big boy.
- 19:03Brandan: Oh yeah, Brissett's big.
- 19:05He went through the offensive linemen.
- 19:06So you had, Jarran Reed with the one sack.
- 19:09The only other sack was Leonard Williams on the day, so they, they
- 19:13only get two sacks, but they do also get the interception from, Ooh
- 19:19from our own Love.
- 19:20And, we've got Tim Bosky12 with a 9.99
- 19:24super chat.
- 19:24"Love that the offensive line got better and Lock was great."
- 19:28Yes, I do wanna get back to Drew Lock, but, yeah, how about Julian Love
- 19:33with the interception, of the guy who just never throws interceptions, Clinton?
- 19:37Clinton: Never, ever, ever, ever does.
- 19:39He's got the lowest one, you know, since Aaron Rodgers, but here we are.
- 19:43What a, I- live, I didn't think he caught it whatsoever.
- 19:47I was like, "Oh, no, that, that…
- 19:49He just, it just looked too wild."
- 19:50He's sliding.
- 19:51He, it must have hit the grass.
- 19:53Then they go to that beautiful slow motion instant replay, Brandan, and Love got
- 19:58the glove right where he needed to be
- 20:01Brandan: I still think that JSN had a catch with his hand under
- 20:03it and the, the, the- Me too
- 20:05it just wasn't as good of a, a camera angle, but, Might've
- 20:07been… yeah, they took that away.
- 20:09But yeah, that Julian Love catch was amazing.
- 20:12Dude was
- 20:12Adam: sick.
- 20:12Insane.
- 20:13It was insane.
- 20:15Look, Julian Love is balling out to begin this season.
- 20:18It, it's something that we need to talk about more because when we
- 20:21think of this dark side defense, we think a lot about the defensive line.
- 20:24We talk about Emmanwori a lot, we talk about Spoon.
- 20:26But Julian Love and what the, what he does on the back end to just kinda unify
- 20:32the defense from back there, playing with a backup in Rodney Thomas, getting
- 20:36everything aligned and organized.
- 20:37A cerebral player that has made big play after big play, the
- 20:44last couple years here, and he's starting out his season with a bang.
- 20:47An interception in each game?
- 20:49Like, that's huge.
- 20:50I mean, are we talking Defensive Player of the Year, Mr.
- 20:53Love?
- 20:54Brandan: Man.
- 20:54I mean, the dude is, right in line for All-Pro for sure.
- 20:58Clinton: Yeah, he's-… he's early, early ballot leader
- 21:01out of the gate leader to be like an All-Pro safety so far.
- 21:04'Cause not that we're watching every single game and every
- 21:07single snap, but man, can you play better football right now?
- 21:10I don't think so.
- 21:11Brandan: Shane Turner Acoustic in the chat saying, "Did anyone see Reed let
- 21:14Brissett run into him like he was- Yes… another player and not sack him?
- 21:17Funny after the game, not during."
- 21:19The reason why that happened to Reed, though, is he was doubled over almost
- 21:23on the ground, and then he got up and Jacoby just kind of runs into him, and
- 21:28I don't think Reed, he wa- he didn't realize Jacoby still had the football.
- 21:32Adam: Yeah.
- 21:33He was just like, "Oh no, here you are.
- 21:35Oh, no I could ta- Aw."
- 21:36Like- Yeah… I think that was the, thought process there.
- 21:39Clinton: Yeah, there's no way, 'cause he wouldn't do it otherwise.
- 21:42But it, you know, it comes off as comical.
- 21:43But in, in the moment, I'm like, "Dude, the guy's, like
- 21:46running by you slowly," you know?
- 21:48Like, "You might wanna tackle him."
- 21:49But, but Reed blew things up, Leo blew things up, Byron Murphy blew things up.
- 21:54Y- The nice part is we talked, we, we talked about exactly that as being the
- 21:58key to the game and how Seattle can pull away and make what is a competent
- 22:02quarterback in Brissett look bad.
- 22:05You know, Jac- Jacoby Brissett's not a bad quarterback.
- 22:08The Seattle Seahawks interior defensive line make him look like rubbish
- 22:13'cause they do that, they, they do that to very good quarterbacks all
- 22:16the way down to guys like Brissett.
- 22:18Adam: Yeah.
- 22:19I mean-
- 22:21Clinton: He
- 22:22Adam: he, he's, he's a lower tier starting quarterback, so- Yes
- 22:25Clinton: agree.
- 22:25Agree.
- 22:26Adam: Yeah.
- 22:26Clinton: And we made him look exactly that way.
- 22:29Some teams make him look like, "Oh, he looks good this week.
- 22:32He's a, he could pitch the top 15," and then you play us.
- 22:35Adam: Well, and that's what a bad starter does, right?
- 22:37They can come in and they can, you know, look good against lesser
- 22:40opponents, and then when they get up against the really top tier stuff
- 22:43they just wilt and they have less than 100 yards passing and a pick.
- 22:46and that's what it is.
- 22:48So, like, you know, Brissett- Oof… a quarterback, he's a
- 22:51he's a professional quarterback.
- 22:52He's a professional.
- 22:52And he is a starter, you know.
- 22:54Again, 32 to 25, take your pick.
- 22:55Clinton: Yeah
- 22:56Brandan: I will stop saying good- We've got Godzera Hawk in chat, and
- 22:58if you, if you don't listen to our pregame preview show, we had
- 23:04we, we had the wishing well, Godzera Hawk, Marc came in with four wishes.
- 23:09That's awesome.
- 23:09And Phil, Phil said, "Hey, let's, let's try and limit it to three wishes."
- 23:14Mm-hmm.
- 23:14You know, that's, that's the rule.
- 23:16But all four wishes come true, and so Phil's in chat saying, Godzera
- 23:20Hawk officially the only person- Yes, there it is… who gets to make
- 23:22four wishes from now on, I guess.
- 23:25Adam: Yeah.
- 23:25G- good job, Phil.
- 23:26I was hoping that you would pick up on that in that exact way
- 23:29because it's tradition now, right?
- 23:30Like, now Clinton and I have to live stream games.
- 23:33Like, 'cause we, we have to.
- 23:35Yeah.
- 23:35Clinton: I mean, thing, things are, things are cooking, boys.
- 23:37I, and I, I've said this before and I'll say it again so this is not a jinx
- 23:41because I kept saying it when it, when the streak was on last year, since we
- 23:45got our second dog, Bowie, which was…
- 23:48We got that dog on 12/12 last year.
- 23:50That was the gotcha day for that dog.
- 23:52Yeah.
- 23:5212/12.
- 23:53We haven't lost a football game, boys.
- 23:55My dog Bowie, my second dog, remains undefeated as part of our
- 23:59household, so let's, let's keep on.
- 24:02Bowie, let's keep on running, buddy.
- 24:04Love you.
- 24:05Brandan: Love it.
- 24:05That
- 24:05Clinton: that's awesome.
- 24:06Brandan: so yeah.
- 24:07D- with turnovers, let's see.
- 24:10Did we win the turnover battle on this one or did we end up tying?
- 24:13I s- 'cause Julian Love had the INT, Price had the
- 24:18Clinton: fumble.
- 24:18Price fumbled, lost.
- 24:19Brandan: So, th-
- 24:20Clinton: Yeah.
- 24:20Brandan: Yeah, there
- 24:21Clinton: was- So one for one, yeah?
- 24:22Brandan: Yeah, I think it must have been one for one.
- 24:25Clinton: Yep.
- 24:25I mean, she, he tried to, tried to give the ball away to start the second
- 24:28half, but there was a Johnny on the spot who, made sure for us that it
- 24:33turned, lemons into some lemonade.
- 24:35Chazz
- 24:35Brandan: Surratt, special teamer- Yes… of the game, guys.
- 24:37Clinton: Yeah.
- 24:38I mean, look, that's a…
- 24:40The ball bounces the wrong way, that's a, that's an incredibly terrible start.
- 24:43Instead, we take the ball, what, across the 50 and then just march right down
- 24:47and score a tutty, so that's a huge play by Chazz to not only grab it, but then to
- 24:52rumble, stumble, bumble for quite a bit.
- 24:54Adam: Yeah, man, that was a, a super cool play.
- 24:56Good to see Chazz Surratt get, a big play, you know, a key special
- 25:01teamer and pretty darn cool.
- 25:03I wanna talk about the defense just a little bit more in terms of, like
- 25:06why this was a, a big day and why the Cardinals really did struggle.
- 25:11And you start looking at some of the Cards' numbers here in
- 25:15third down, man, three for 12.
- 25:18Clinton: Geez.
- 25:18Adam: Like, and the Seahawks were six for 13, so well over half of your…
- 25:22Or just a hair under half of your third down conversions for the Seahawks.
- 25:26That's the difference in the game right here.
- 25:27Like, you know, Cards couldn't, convert, and then they couldn't get us
- 25:32off the field, especially in the second half as they scored on every single one
- 25:37of their drives, which is unbelievably impressive as they, they turn it up.
- 25:41So basically go touchdown, field goal, touchdown, touchdown.
- 25:45That's-
- 25:45Brandan: One- The final touchdown was on a fourth down play.
- 25:48They were, they were, oh for two on fourth down- Yes… efficiency.
- 25:53And, and so they finally get the one at the end.
- 25:56Clinton: The biggest difference in, in how we end up getting to, you
- 25:59know, what, 25%, a third down conversion for the, for the Cardinals
- 26:05is that the game started s- the game started out, they were like
- 26:09second and two, second and three.
- 26:11And then when we flipped the script and, and I think the
- 26:14Cardinals threw the ball too much.
- 26:16You know, they, they were, they were getting…
- 26:18LaFleur got a little pass happy when he got down a little bit.
- 26:21young coach, sure, but all of a sudden they were in third and seven
- 26:25third and eight, third and nine, and they were converting none of
- 26:29those when, when they got to that chapter, and that's how we closed.
- 26:32Adam: Well, to be fair to LaFleur, after their early success on the ground
- 26:37you know, I think they had, Love averaging over four yards a carry
- 26:41like, early on or something like that.
- 26:42We, we talked about it.
- 26:44I mean, you see the graphic later on in the game where they're
- 26:46talking in the twos, you know?
- 26:47Yeah.
- 26:48And the dark side just took the run game away.
- 26:51And at that point then, what do you have left to do?
- 26:54And that was to try to throw the football.
- 26:55Clinton: Nothing.
- 26:56Adam: So not, no good options for Mike LaFleur in his second game.
- 27:01So Coach Macdonald- Yeah… officially owns, other LaFleur
- 27:05Brandan: Got Tim Boski in chat, "Are we concerned about Shaheed?
- 27:09Rashid Shaheed."
- 27:10You mentioned the drops earlier.
- 27:12he has the fumble on the return.
- 27:15Yeah.
- 27:15Is this one bad day, or is this something that is on your radar
- 27:19then for future days, Glenn?
- 27:22Clinton: It's…
- 27:22I am on the record saying that I think Horton could be a, a
- 27:26more effective wide receiver.
- 27:28So, I'll, that's, so that's, that's where I'm at.
- 27:30I think he'd be a more effective wide receiver.
- 27:32With that, w- Sh- look, that was not a good day by Shaheed, and
- 27:36I think he would admit that too.
- 27:37He had two drops, not just the one glaring one, but he had one that he
- 27:41should've caught that was, you know, not a great ball, but he should've
- 27:43still s- should've caught it.
- 27:44The fumble, as we talked about.
- 27:46And also, after the mistakes, he makes a great punt return to run up on the ball
- 27:53that, like, again, most players I don't think have the balls to go fair catch
- 27:56it under traffic so it doesn't bounce at the 20 and maybe careen down to the 3.
- 28:00That's a fantastic special teams play.
- 28:03Then he has a nice return later.
- 28:04So, it wasn't great.
- 28:06It was certainly uneven, but the last two times he touched the ball as the
- 28:10special teamer were really good, and he had a couple receptions on top of that.
- 28:14Adam: Yeah.
- 28:15And look, there's other things that Shaheed does, and I, I
- 28:18wanted to highlight this for Mr.
- 28:20Phil.
- 28:20You know, Sh- Shaheed forces a safety to stay high.
- 28:22If he's not out there, the whole offense goes differently, and so
- 28:25there's a lot of truth in that.
- 28:26But also, too, Brandan, you said, how many days, bad days
- 28:30that, that Shaheed has had here?
- 28:32How many?
- 28:33One.
- 28:33Brandan: One.
- 28:34Adam: One.
- 28:34Okay.
- 28:34All right.
- 28:35Yeah.
- 28:35So it's one.
- 28:36Once is a coincidence, and, like twice a trend, three times a you problem.
- 28:39So we're nowhere near me being concerned about Shaheed.
- 28:42I think he'll…
- 28:43Th- this wasn't a good day, hands-wise.
- 28:45Just didn't have it.
- 28:45Don't know why.
- 28:46You know, the football's weird that way.
- 28:48But I, I think he's gonna be just fine moving forward.
- 28:52Brandan: Yeah.
- 28:52It does, it does put it on your radar though, because, m- as…
- 28:58Let's see.
- 28:58Who was it in chat saying that, he, he, he got his $17 million
- 29:02payday, and, now maybe that's, that's a concern that I, I, I, I…
- 29:09It's on the watch list now, but it's, yeah, it's not a trend yet.
- 29:12It's like Myers, having the bad preseason, Adam, and then now
- 29:16being perfect with his, field goals and extra points so far.
- 29:20It's even-year Myers.
- 29:21Adam: It's even-year Myers.
- 29:22Good to see him.
- 29:23you know, we even mentioned it in the live just like, "Okay
- 29:25we're officially good with Myers.
- 29:27Don't…
- 29:27Not worried about that."
- 29:28But let's not forget, like, going back to the rules of threes here, Myers
- 29:32had three bad games in the preseason.
- 29:35Three.
- 29:35Right.
- 29:35And that's enough.
- 29:36It's not like any of us were freaking out after one, right?
- 29:38So we're giving- We, we were
- 29:39Brandan: freaking out a little bit after three.
- 29:41After
- 29:41Adam: three- We were… I was definitely freaking out a little bit.
- 29:44Clinton: Guys, we haven't talked about Drew.
- 29:46Oh.
- 29:46Can we talk a little bit about Drew?
- 29:48Is it time?
- 29:49Adam: It's time.
- 29:49Brandan: Let's, let's talk a little Drew.
- 29:51Clinton: Yeah.
- 29:51A little Hose?
- 29:52Yeah, go.
- 29:52You guys go first.
- 29:53Brandan, especially you.
- 29:54No, I'll go.
- 29:54Yeah.
- 29:54We, we, we've been talking for three hours.
- 29:56The Hose.
- 29:57What did the Hose do for you today?
- 29:58Brandan: Yeah.
- 29:59Well, 235 yards.
- 30:01I, I think the, the, the three touchdowns, all to JSN.
- 30:04But the big thing, guys, with that 139.1
- 30:07quarterback rating- Whoo
- 30:09the dude did not turn the football over.
- 30:11I don't think he even put it in danger like he did against
- 30:14the Patriots the one time.
- 30:16So, for him to come in, manage this game.
- 30:21Again, what we saw last week, you saw Drake Maye get impatient
- 30:27in the second half- Mm-hmm.
- 30:29Yeah… and start spraying the ball downfield.
- 30:30There was no impatience to Drew's game, and he comes out and ends up with a
- 30:36a very respectable 235 yards, puts it in the end zone, and then turns
- 30:41it over to his running game to…
- 30:43And you could just see how fired up the dude was after the game.
- 30:47It was so good.
- 30:48Adam: It was so much fun.
- 30:49Celebrating Drew Lock, like, is one of the funner things to watch.
- 30:53Like, when he's having himself a day and having a good time.
- 30:56I'll say this, as a Seahawk, this is definitely his most complete
- 30:58game- Mm… easily, hands down.
- 31:00now as a Bronco too, I don't know.
- 31:03I, I can't say that I watched every single one and like remember
- 31:06it, but like this has to be in one of his top five performances
- 31:09in his career, if not top three.
- 31:11And Brandan, you mentioned the reason why.
- 31:14The idea that didn't turn the ball over, but not only that, but wasn't
- 31:18anywhere near turning the ball over.
- 31:21Responsible, smart, and he was still pushing it downfield and
- 31:23taking, you know, some shots.
- 31:25There was a one to JSN on an inbreaker, you know, about middle of the field.
- 31:29There was a tight window.
- 31:30the touchdown to JSN was…
- 31:33That was, that was a work of art, Mm-hmm… fitting that ball in there.
- 31:37Drew Lock, massive game and 2-0 as the Seahawks starter.
- 31:43Carly made the joke at, during the live like, "Sam better hurry back."
- 31:46Yeah.
- 31:47Brandan: True.
- 31:48Yeah.
- 31:49I, I think I had a text from my brother that, he said
- 31:51"Do we need Darnold back?"
- 31:53Clinton: Drew, Drew looked…
- 31:54He look, he, he looks the part.
- 31:56it's why you pay a good quarter, good backup
- 31:59quarterback, good backup money.
- 32:01And you, you all said it already, and, and Phil had it in the comments too.
- 32:05It wasn't close to being sloppy.
- 32:07In fact, it was the exact opposite.
- 32:09You know, he, he had a couple of…
- 32:10You, you alluded to it, Adam, and called out one of them.
- 32:13He had a couple of honey hole shots that were like, you need all of it.
- 32:16You need arm talent, you need anticipation, and you need a location.
- 32:21I mean, you need all three of them.
- 32:23Otherwise, it's tipped, it's behind the guy, it's interception that
- 32:26sails a guy, it's out of bounds.
- 32:28He had a couple times too, we highlighted him last week on three and three out, one
- 32:32of, one of the ends was he was getting some pressure in his face right away
- 32:36from Gonzo and another, another kind of free runner for the Patriots, and
- 32:39he slings it like Bernie Kosar style, 15 yard out on a frigging rope to JSN.
- 32:45He had another one of those today, man, where he's going from the
- 32:48right hash back- Yeah… over to the left hash or left sideline.
- 32:53And it's just, he's on time.
- 32:56He's o- he's, he's anticipating i- in a really, really strong way.
- 33:00And I think that's the most, for me, the most satisfying part is
- 33:04like we know the arm talent's there.
- 33:06But if he could be anticipatory and have a such a level of trust that, especially
- 33:12JSN, JSN's gonna be where he's gonna be.
- 33:15Man, they got a, they got a cool connection going, guys.
- 33:18Brandan: Got Nate Schutz in chat saying, "Drew, our new starter?"
- 33:22With the little winky emoji.
- 33:23Winky.
- 33:23This is the point that I, before we get too carried away- For sure
- 33:27with Drew, I, I think Phil has some, a, a smart comment here saying
- 33:31"Need to see Drew against a real pass rush before you crown him.
- 33:34be careful not to start a quarterback controversy."
- 33:37Oh, phew.
- 33:37A top quarterback wins- That's not what we're doing.
- 33:40Come on, Phil… against a real pass rush.
- 33:40No, I, we can be excited about Drew, happy about Drew, recognize
- 33:43the great game that we had.
- 33:45But yeah, before I, I think th- this is more of a caution to
- 33:49all Seahawks fans who are just, you know, excited and emotional
- 33:53and happy about the win for Drew.
- 33:55Let's, let's not, you know, get behind the idea of Drew Lock as future starting
- 34:00quarterback of our next Super Bowl, winning team, before we see him do it
- 34:05against a real pass rush, like Phil said.
- 34:07Clinton: Yeah.
- 34:07That's fair.
- 34:08It, it- And Sam will be back.
- 34:09Sam will, Sam's butt's feeling better, so that's good.
- 34:11Adam: Yeah, and it, you know, you mention a real pass rush, and it's like
- 34:15well, okay, you know, maybe the Cards have the most dynamic pass rush in the world.
- 34:19But let's not take away the performance of the offensive line here.
- 34:23Yes.
- 34:24Clinton: Great
- 34:24Adam: point.
- 34:24They had an excellent day.
- 34:25That's one of the reasons why Drew was able to have an excellent day.
- 34:29He was able to consistently get to two to three in his progressions.
- 34:32And you know, the little bit of pressure that he did give, or they
- 34:35did give up, he was able to kind of maneuver through and usually find
- 34:38a good spot to put the football.
- 34:40They only gave up one sack all day.
- 34:42And the other aspect of the offensive line is usually pre-snap penalties
- 34:47are an offensive line thing.
- 34:49And one of the big things in week one was all that pre-snap stuff that
- 34:52you know, backup quarterback coming in unexpectedly, haven't
- 34:55heard your cadence, you know, all that stuff, first time play caller.
- 34:58And I thought it was really impressive the way that Fleury got that
- 35:01cleaned up with the offensive line.
- 35:04They had a fantastic game as a whole, and kudos to them.
- 35:08Brandan: The other interesting thing about the offensive line, guys, was
- 35:11the, the rotation between Christian- Mm… Haynes and Bo Stevens.
- 35:14The, there were times throughout the game where they were, it wasn't
- 35:18like Stevens w- It, it was like they were trading off some drives, or
- 35:21you'd see one for a couple drives.
- 35:23Mm.
- 35:23and it'll be…
- 35:25It was hard to follow d- just in the, the, the flow of the game
- 35:29because you're, you're trying to watch the entire game, so.
- 35:32but it'd be interesting to see how it ends up, the, the snaps
- 35:37ended up shaking out between those two guys at that right guard spot
- 35:41Clinton: And I think they both did well.
- 35:44The, the beginning, the very- Well, one
- 35:45Brandan: sack.
- 35:46Clinton: The, the beginning of the game was a little
- 35:48choppy, and then it was good.
- 35:50And it just like
- 35:50Brandan: got- There, there were some whiffs in there too- Sure… where
- 35:52I, I think with both of them, where Drew ended up being under
- 35:56pressure because of, you know…
- 35:59and some of them- Yes
- 36:00might have been blitz and missed assignments, but- For sure.
- 36:02And I'm not-… it wasn't, it wasn't a disaster.
- 36:04Clinton: Wait, that, that's, that's exactly where I wanted to take it
- 36:07was like, okay, y- we win the game going away, and we didn't, we didn't
- 36:11suffer, because one of those two guys were playing right guard.
- 36:15It wasn't like…
- 36:16Now, the run game was a little inconsistent the first half for sure
- 36:19but then that also got going too, which was, which was really nice to see.
- 36:22So we c- how about this?
- 36:23We closed out as confidently as I think we can with, with backup right guards.
- 36:30Brandan: Miss Hangover.
- 36:31Our depth is looking real good this year, offensive and defensive.
- 36:35As I said earlier, I'm happy Drew is holding the fort down, but we'll
- 36:38feel more comfortable with the season once Darnold is back and healthy.
- 36:42But yeah, let's talk about the depth a little bit because
- 36:45on the defensive side too, we, we did see some more…
- 36:50Oh, at safety.
- 36:51who am I- Rodney, Rodney Thomas.
- 36:52Rodney Thomas.
- 36:53We, we saw some good from Rodney Thomas- He did have that pick, yeah… and we
- 36:56saw a little, a little, got there a little early, that, ended up
- 36:59extending a drive for the Cardinals.
- 37:00But, I, I suppose you're gonna see that even-
- 37:03Clinton: Yeah, that, that I don't mind… with, with veteran guys.
- 37:05I, I don't mind him getting there a little early.
- 37:07It's a, it's to me just as…
- 37:09It's w- to me it's better than being late.
- 37:11It's like you were right there.
- 37:13Timing, timing-wise is a little bit off, but hey, they, it, that's okay.
- 37:16You're, you're in position and you're being aggressive.
- 37:19I'm fine with that.
- 37:20I would like him to…
- 37:21I would love him to catch that interception though, guys.
- 37:23Like that, that one hit him right in the freaking chest.
- 37:25Oh, yeah.
- 37:25I know he's sliding, I know it's an oblong ball.
- 37:28but again, we talked about it live, you know, I know that Yale Bulldog Adam
- 37:33is gonna be doing some trigonometry back in his dorm room being like, "I should
- 37:36have caught that freaking interception."
- 37:38Adam: Absolutely.
- 37:39He'll be like, "Oh, the, the velocity with the angle."
- 37:42Yeah, like all of that.
- 37:43That's what Rodney Thomas does back in his hotel room when he's on the road.
- 37:46Correct, 'cause he
- 37:46Clinton: went to Yale and everybody from Yale, that's how they act.
- 37:48Adam: That's all they do is trig.
- 37:49Yes.
- 37:49Yeah.
- 37:50No, I, I don't mind Rodney Thomas getting there a
- 37:53little early on the one play.
- 37:54Look, I'd rather Rodney Thomas play too fast than not too fast
- 37:58and look, that, that works for me.
- 38:00yeah, thought he had a nice game.
- 38:03A- another defensive player that we didn't talk about, 'cause there was a play, Mr.
- 38:07Drake Thomas, Clinton.
- 38:08Oh.
- 38:08I know you wanted to talk about- Mm… his
- 38:10Clinton: TFL.
- 38:11Great pull.
- 38:14Great pull.
- 38:14Just w- Drake's ability to sniff out and then he, on the run blitz and really fire
- 38:19and just get TFLs, it's, it's very strong.
- 38:22So I'm not gonna…
- 38:23I won't even say too much more about it 'cause we weren't live with Brandan, but
- 38:26you and I talked about it a lot, Adam.
- 38:28He does this all the time is my, my point.
- 38:30This is not like, oh, what is…
- 38:32Mike call it besides being sudden?
- 38:34Like if there's a word for these type of plays.
- 38:36He said Nwosu last week was the most yada, yada, yada.
- 38:39Not sudden, but there's a word.
- 38:41Shocking?
- 38:41Shocking.
- 38:41There was?
- 38:41Shocking.
- 38:42Shocking.
- 38:42Okay.
- 38:42Yeah.
- 38:42That's ex- That's a good pull.
- 38:44And Thomas, to me, Brandan, he has these shocking great run D
- 38:50antici- anticipations all the time.
- 38:51And I'm not even sure it's like, oh, that's a run blitz.
- 38:54I don't think it is.
- 38:55I just think he's really good at sensing run, firing before a guard
- 38:59can move, and being a sound tackler.
- 39:02Brandan: Yeah.
- 39:02great to see him out there.
- 39:04He had seven total tackles.
- 39:07you know, the one tackle for a loss.
- 39:09Leonard Williams led the team with two TFLs.
- 39:12Jarran Reed had a TFL.
- 39:14Devon Witherspoon had one as well.
- 39:17coming up next, guys, it is the Washington Commanders.
- 39:21Ooh.
- 39:21And we had the Snail-… pointing out the fact Jayden Daniels out next week.
- 39:25Adam: Ugh.
- 39:27Brandan: Yeah, that, that sucks.
- 39:28It, it's a brutal injury, too.
- 39:30Ugh.
- 39:30Oh, yeah.
- 39:30Really?
- 39:31Yeah.
- 39:31I know he dislocated
- 39:32Clinton: it, but
- 39:32Brandan: gross.
- 39:32It was, it was another one of the…
- 39:34Remember when we played him- Man… and his elbow- The direct elbow hit
- 39:36… like, bent the wrong direction?
- 39:38He, that happened again.
- 39:39Ugh
- 39:40Clinton: gross.
- 39:41sucks.
- 39:43Brandan: Got Tom Brady to drop an S-bomb on live TV- Ugh… after
- 39:46he, saw the replay.
- 39:48Clinton: Yikes.
- 39:48That's absolutely terrible for a young, a young quarterback.
- 39:51s- just taking it back to the Seahawks, we want him to he- we want him
- 39:55to heal and get as good as he can get.
- 39:58We're gonna be looking at Mariota, guys.
- 39:59That's their backup.
- 40:00I was gonna
- 40:00Adam: say, who's the backup
- 40:01Clinton: there?
- 40:01It's, it's still- Is it still Mariota?
- 40:02Yeah, Mariota.
- 40:03Yeah.
- 40:03And look, we know what we do to these, to these barely startable quarterbacks.
- 40:10We saw it today, and I, I'm not, I'm not convinced the, the Commanders
- 40:14have much else in roster that's gonna be, scary for our Seahawks.
- 40:20Brandan: Yeah.
- 40:20Well, Charlie the Unicorn also saying the Commanders lost two starting
- 40:23offensive linemen today, too.
- 40:24Clinton: Oh, God.
- 40:25Two, ugh.
- 40:26Adam: Yeah
- 40:26and
- 40:26Brandan: they were already- So Mariota, watch out.
- 40:28Clinton: Oh
- 40:28Adam: gosh.
- 40:29Yeah, they were already missing Tunzel, too, who tore his pec in the off season.
- 40:32Yeah.
- 40:32And so that offensive line was already a major issue for them.
- 40:37Now they get to go up against Leo, and Byron, and Reed, and Riley.
- 40:42Like
- 40:43Clinton: not- This is gonna be a ni- nine or 10…
- 40:45This, on the road, this is probably gonna be a nine or 10-point spread.
- 40:48Like, that's how- Yeah… that's how egregious that they're
- 40:50Brandan: gonna look.
- 40:50With Drew Lock a- as our, you know- Potential starter… potentially
- 40:54starting another game, too.
- 40:55Well, yeah.
- 40:55And then you have the Chargers looking for it.
- 40:57I don't know if you guys saw that Caleb Williams went out
- 40:59toward the end of the game, too.
- 41:01Adam: Yeah.
- 41:01Brandan: looked like an injury.
- 41:03So as- Some of the tougher games that we saw on the schedule earlier this
- 41:07year may, they're going to be without their starting quarterbacks now.
- 41:12Adam: Yeah, and that's such a bummer, man.
- 41:14You always wanna face these guys when they're at full strength so that
- 41:17you know, there's no excuses going forward when you take the belt to ass.
- 41:20But, I, I think one of the things that this discussion really
- 41:24does kinda help crystallize is we're talking about Mariota coming in for
- 41:28the Commanders, or Bagent for the- Mm-hmm… Bears, right?
- 41:33Clinton: And- Who can play a bit.
- 41:34Adam: Yeah, he can play, but look at that d- the difference, the
- 41:37delta between those guys as your backup and how screwed your season is
- 41:42and the play that we're getting out of Drew Lock these first two games.
- 41:45Like, that goes to show just how valuable it is to have a guy like
- 41:49that, and just how he really is…
- 41:52If he's not the number one backup in the league, then he's number two.
- 41:57Like, I, I don't even know who number one would be, and what a blessing
- 42:00that is to have as a team as this game is really a war of attrition.
- 42:05Brandan: And- I think Drew…
- 42:05Clinton: No, go ahead.
- 42:06Brandan: I, I mean, credit to John Schneider because it's, it, it's
- 42:10not like Drew Lock is on this team for an exorbitant salary either.
- 42:14He's making, like, 2.5
- 42:16mil- he did, he signed a two-year, $5 million deal.
- 42:19Yeah.
- 42:19And so it's like- Oh, I thought
- 42:20Clinton: he was making 5 million a year.
- 42:21Brandan: No, no.
- 42:22Five to- five guaranteed was his deal.
- 42:24I think he can make up to seven with incentives.
- 42:27Clinton: He deser- he deserves more money, because he is a
- 42:30he's a very, very good backup.
- 42:32I mean, we saw it, and we see it again.
- 42:34He's actually, that dude's starter level on, I think on
- 42:36on several NFL teams right now.
- 42:39He just is.
- 42:40Adam: Yeah.
- 42:41Clinton: We saw consistency.
- 42:41He's
- 42:41Adam: showing out that way.
- 42:42Clinton: No, he, he just is.
- 42:43And like, and, you know, consistency over time, we'll see
- 42:46but he's playing pretty good ball.
- 42:48I do wanna say this real quick, I know we're gonna wrap soon, but I
- 42:51see Nemhauser out on Twitter with the Macdonald quote, that he
- 42:54was getting from the presser saying that Sam Darnold's injury has changed
- 42:58dramatically to the improvement side.
- 43:01We heard that pregame, but just how dramatically.
- 43:04Saying he's got…
- 43:04We have three more days to evaluate it, even before practice.
- 43:07Hmm.
- 43:08So sounds like Sam will be practicing next week, and if it's just the butt muscle
- 43:12and he can deal with it, A-okay.
- 43:15All that being said, if you're going against Mariota, and our team verse their
- 43:19team, and it's Drew Lock playing this good, is there any harm in, in maybe
- 43:26giving Sam, you know, one more week to, to heal the butt there, Brandan?
- 43:30Brandan: He, he watched Drew Lock ball out today, and he's like- I was
- 43:33Adam: gonna
- 43:34Brandan: say.
- 43:34" Adam: Oh
- 43:34Clinton: yeah
- 43:34Brandan: yeah, yeah."
- 43:34"My butt-"
- 43:34" Adam: Heal my butt."
- 43:35"… Brandan: my butt's feeling a lot better."
- 43:37Clinton: I can't believe it.
- 43:38My butt feels great.
- 43:39You know, I feel like- Yeah
- 43:40Adam: three touchdowns heals a glute so fast.
- 43:42It's unbelievable.
- 43:43Yeah.
- 43:45Brandan: Well, we'll look forward to that.
- 43:46We'll look forward to hopefully some, news about Jadarian's
- 43:50Price, Jadarian Price's injury.
- 43:52I haven't…
- 43:52I've been trying to follow as we, chat here, 'cause I know
- 43:56Miss Hangover was asking about, if there was any update on that.
- 44:00I haven't seen any news on that, so that's something that we'll be look-
- 44:03The way Mike Macdonald does this with the injury stuff too, he'd probably be
- 44:07like, "Well, you know, he's got a chest.
- 44:08He took off his pads, and, you know, we're…
- 44:11That's…
- 44:12And, and he didn't make it back into the game."
- 44:14Like, just listing all the facts.
- 44:15Yes.
- 44:17Clinton: Exactly.
- 44:18Adam: I think Mike has found the ultimate injury loophole, too, in terms
- 44:21of, not giving it up to the press.
- 44:24You know, just, "Yeah, I, I don't know.
- 44:26I'm out of my depth.
- 44:28I'm not a doctor."
- 44:28Like, "I don't know.
- 44:28Like, a body hurt bad."
- 44:30He's…
- 44:30Dude-
- 44:30Brandan: Yeah, well, that was the…
- 44:31Is, isn't the, the glute, isn't it a m- is it a muscle?
- 44:35And somebody saying, "Well, I th- I heard it was a tendon."
- 44:37He's like, "Yeah.
- 44:38Out of my depth."
- 44:39Yeah.
- 44:39Adam: Yeah.
- 44:39And then he just smiles- Out of my depth… like the cat ate the canary too.
- 44:42Like, I just- Yeah.
- 44:43Yeah.
- 44:44I, I like that he's having fun with it.
- 44:45Brandan: Yeah.
- 44:46Charlie the Unicorn saying right pec injury.
- 44:49So- Yeah… hopefully, hopefully Price, gonna be
- 44:52good to go here relatively soon.
- 44:54But yeah, nice to see that, running back Emanuel Wilson was ready to
- 44:58come in and give him a spell, and put this game away as our Seahawks get
- 45:03the win, 31 to 7 over those Arizona Cardinals, and we continue to roll
- 45:10on this winning streak, gentlemen.
- 45:12Adam: Absolutely, man.
- 45:13And I think with that- There's only one thing left to say.
- 45:16Brandan: Go Hawks.
- 45:17Adam: Go Hawks.
- 45:18Go Hawks.
