- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Hey everyone, welcome back to the Beyond Limits podcast.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I'm very excited to have a guest here with me today, Era Bella Blaker.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: She's going to share her expertise, her journey with her health, and how she's transforming women all around the world.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And with that, welcome to the show.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for having me.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I'm happy to be here.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: So I want to dive in right away into kind of the work you do with women, but kind of how that came about for you, your journey with your chronic health symptoms, what happened, how you knew there was a different answer for anyone who's listening and perhaps are having the same experiences and felt the same way that you felt at that time.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously most of our health issues start from the way we experienced childhood.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: But I would say the profound moment for me was when I was 20 and I was living in Australia and I was in the doctor's office.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I knew there was something wrong with me.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: I was having all these symptoms.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: And I sat in that doctor's office, and the doctor told me, um, you have all these different conditions, uh, PCOS, IBS, anxiety, depression, um, you're gonna be infertile likely.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: I hadn't had a period in five years.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: And he just sat there and told me, there's nothing you can do about this, but we have some medications you can take.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: And just like listed off all the things that I would suffer with in my life.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: And I didn't know God or believe in God at the time.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: I very much grew up atheist, and so really, yeah, really different to now.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: But I remember experiencing this like lightning bolt kind of come through me feeling of just like, no, no, no, no.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: This cannot be.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: This cannot be my future.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: This cannot be happening.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: And I just remember just like refusing it and rejecting it, and like there was this resounding no in my body, and from there it just became a mission to heal and figure out what happened to me.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: And this was 10 years ago.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: I'm 30 now, and I was 20 years old.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Instagram was not was not what it is now.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: It was like thigh gaps and bikini picks, like the Valencia filter of any millennials, were there at that time.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: And I found one YouTube video from someone saying she healed her PCOS holistically, and I clung to it.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: I wish I knew her name, I don't now, but that was just the start of my healing journey.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I love this, and this is probably one of the reasons I felt really gravitated to you because we have a very similar story.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I also had like the IBS, PCOS, acne, anxiety, department, all of the things, chronic fatigue, and it was like, well, this is what you're gonna have to live with.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: You can manage your symptoms.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And I too had that, no, this is not the answer.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: I am not gonna do that.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And I went on to become a naturopath and all of that.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And I know you're an naturopath as well.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: What do you think it was that really allowed you to have that feeling of like, no?
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like so many times women are told that these are the symptoms they're just gonna have to live with, or they're just gonna have to manage.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And there's so much grief, fear, but also like you need to be told you're not gonna be able to have children or you're just gonna have to struggle.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: It's like, it's so defeating.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: What do you find like really allowed you to be like no and to search for another answer?
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: It's it's quite a depressing answer.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: No, but uh, sometimes that's the honesty.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: It's very honest, it's quite deep.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: But um, to be really honest, I'd been through so much in my life already at that time.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: I'd been, I was addicted to drugs and alcohol, I'd been through abusive relationships, I'd really been through so much.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: I'd lost my dad um to suicide, actually.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And I'd just been through so much.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: And I just, this was like the cherry on top of the cake.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: I was like, life is unfair.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Like, this is awful.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: I was very much in like a victim mindset, like, why me?
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: And I remember just being like, I don't want to be alive anymore and do this.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Like, if this is life, I don't want it.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Like, I definitely had a gratitude problem, but I really truthfully had experienced so much pain and trauma that I was like, I don't want it.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: But because I I love my mum so much, I was like, I cannot do that to her.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: So it's just not an option.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: So I'm at rock bottom.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: I'm not going down further.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I have to figure out how to heal for my mom.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: I think that like why helped, you know, like it wasn't about me anymore.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I can't do this to her.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: So I just have to figure out a way.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And so I didn't really want to be alive, but I was like, I just have to figure it out.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: There is no other option.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: And that was just the start of the healing journey.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: I didn't even go on a healing journey.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Like there was no healing journey to start.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: It was just like, how do I survive the next day?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: And how do I like step towards the light in some direction?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: So you decide no is not the answer.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: You know, we're not gonna do that to your mom.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: You find the holistic person, what happens?
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Like, do you this holistic person, what kind of work do they do?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Was it supplements?
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Was it this?
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Like, can you kind of paint us the picture of, all right, you decide you're gonna heal this?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: What did that look like?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And take us through that.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: I know you said not a healing journey, but essentially what it looked like.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: It definitely was a healing journey.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: But I think people talk about that a lot now.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm going to heal, I'm gonna go on a healing journey.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: And like we talk about it on social media.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: But at the time, there wasn't anyone talking about it on social media.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: So it was really lonely and isolating, and there was a lack of information.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: The problem I see with my clients now is they're overwhelmed from over information and too many people giving their opinion.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: And at the time, there was a lack.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I was like going to every specialist, I'm like, can someone tell me what PCOS is?
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: And because the doctors made it sound like I was dying, and like now I help women with PCOS, and I almost have to not smile in client sessions sometimes because you only get a really good case and you think like, like I know what to do.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, but you know, they're going through a lot and they've been through people telling them they can't heal and they're really suffering.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: So I'm in a client session, I'm trying not to smile.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I know, okay.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Because I'm excited, but obviously, like it is really traumatic when you go through it, and there was no one saying you could heal it really back then.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: It was very like, you know, far and few between.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: So I remember I was living in Australia and I'm from England, so all of my family were there, and I'm like, my mom's like, just come home, you know.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: And she was like crying a lot.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: She was like, we thought I was infertile, you know.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: So she was crying.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: She's like, Did I fail?
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Did I do something?
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm so sad.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: And I was 20, you know, so it was so young, and um, it I didn't even think I wanted kids.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: I didn't even get that far in my head, but then someone takes it away from me.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: I remember just looking around and seeing babies everywhere and like the grief was insane.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: So, to tell you how this happened, I had this diagnosis in Australia and I decided right before I go home, I'm gonna do like a little trip up the um the East Coast.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: And I landed in in Cairns.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: How is that how you say it?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: I don't know, Cairns, Cairns.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: And I got there and my bloating was so bad.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: So at this point, I'd like started trying to be healthier.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: I'm sure you see this a lot when people try and healthy eat.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: So my friends that I was traveling with that I've made there, they were eating like McDonald's, and I was going to the grocery store and was so proud to be getting like carrots and hummus.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: So, do you understand anything about energetics and Chinese medicine and having a weak digestion?
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: That was obviously not the best answer for me at the time.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: But I was frustrated because I'm like, I gave my body a vegetable.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: I'm getting healthy, and I looked so swollen and bloated all the time.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: I looked six months pregnant, even from water, and then obviously you add in something tasked to digest, like carrots and hermos, which was healthy.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: And I just was swollen and bloated.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: And so I actually was Googling, you know, how you did back then before AI existed.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: And I found a colonic hydrotherapist, and I thought maybe I have candida.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: I probably did, but it definitely was just one of the many things I was experiencing.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: And so I went to see a colonic hydrotherapist, and she was the first woman.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: I remember her being young and beautiful, and I remember literally saying to her, Why do you do this job?
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Because I couldn't comprehend how such a young, beautiful woman would want to stick a tube up someone's back for a living.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: And I just couldn't gather.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: I was like, Why?
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: out of all the things you could be doing.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: And she looked at me, and she was the first person who grabbed my hand and was really personable.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: And she told me, Your body wants to heal.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: And I was like, This thing?
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: I hate this thing.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Like, this is ruining my life, this body.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Like, you're telling me that it wants to heal.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I disagree.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: And obviously, now we can like smile because we understand what was happening.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: But at the time, I was like, she was like, mate, your body's your best friend.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I don't know what you think.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: But that's what I'm saying.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: So am I.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: This one is not.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: And she I saw her three times in three days.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: She um to the chronic cyber therapist, and on the last day, we took a magnesium shot together, and she cheers to me.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: She gave me some supplements and was like, Cheers to your healing and the rest of your life.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: I wish I could find her.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: I tried so hard because I wanted to tell her how much she transformed and changed my life.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: But I couldn't reach her.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I emailed everywhere.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: But anyway, she had a best friend who was a naturopath.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: So I had three days in this place, did clonic cardiotherapy.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: She sent me to the naturopath.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: And now I study this, but the naturopath looked at my tongue and my eyes and told me what was wrong with me.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: And I thought, what woo-woo magic is this?
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Just couldn't believe it that that was possible.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: And she gave me some supplements also, and she was a naturopath.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: And I remember thinking, that's so cool.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Like, how do you read my body with my tongue and my eyes?
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And anyway, fast forward to not tell a story for a long time to try and keep it short.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I ended up moving to London and going to the College of Naturopathic Medicine.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: And I wasn't studying to heal my PCOS or any of the conditions.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: I was studying to learn how to manage them because that's what the doctors obviously told us was possible.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: And fast forward, I'm in a lecture and I put my hand up and I'm like, wait, sir, if you said this and that, doesn't that mean you can heal or reverse PCOS?
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: And he was like, Yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: So now I'm crying in a lecture of like 40 peeper papers.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, does everyone know this?
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: And um, yeah, that was the first time I the first two times that someone told me I could heal and it might be possible.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And well, from that point onwards, I was like, well, let's go.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: And I'm sure that moment will be burned into like your brain in terms of that class forever.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: I know for me, it is, and when I first went to a naturopathic clinic and I brought all my symptoms and all everything, and they're like, oh no, we can reverse this.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I want to become a naturopath.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And I can still see it so clearly in my head.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: I see exactly where I was sitting in that room because it's such a defining moment when we're like, oh, we don't have to live with all these symptoms.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Like I had severe bloating, like you did.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: I was intolerant to 180 foods.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: I could basically only eat eggs, like sweet potato, not even greens, like nothing raw.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: It was like five foods that I could eat.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: And even then, I was still having digestive issues.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: And so I don't know, maybe you feel this way.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: It's like we had those symptoms because we were meant to like also discover how to heal them so we could help other people heal as well.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: I like to think that way.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: I think it's a coping mechanism for me to think that way.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: I'm like, there must be a purpose to all this pain.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Um now I can see it like that.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, I don't really know exactly why things happen the way they do.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: I don't know what's from God, what's not, what is meant to happen.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Like, do we really need to go through so much pain to have purpose in our lives?
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know the answer.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: I have evidence that that is the case.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: But I would hope for my future children and for people everywhere that that they don't have to.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: But my coping mechanism is that yes, absolutely, this had to happen.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: So you're in the lockdown, you discover, oh my God, I can actually reverse and heal like my PCOS.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Then I'm sure you do.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: We won't go through the whole detail of the story, but what do you feel like was the biggest thing or one of the biggest contributing factors to healing it?
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: Because I'm sure it wasn't as like just taking a supplement or taking like some inocital or anything like that.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: But sometimes, I mean, TikTok or Instagram will have you believe that you just take some inocital for PCOS and like that's fine.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: And, you know, we talked about like the childhood, and I know you do a lot of, you know, that kind of work when you're building protocols for your clients.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: So I'd love for you to walk us through kind of that and also where maybe people are bombarded with all this information online, whether it's TikTok or Instagram, in terms of like just take this supplement and it'll reverse your PCOS and kind of what they may be missing and the importance of the work that you do.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I would say PCOS is a whole body symptom.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: It's not a disease, it's a symptom.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: And so I had to look at all what was at the root.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: And unfortunately, it wasn't an an Ozzitol deficiency, as I'm sure you know.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Or I'd have been.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: I don't want to overwhelm people by saying it was everything, but it was everything.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: It was about my physical health, deficiencies, my mindset, my gut, my nervous system, the trauma, my emotional intelligence, my relationships, the things I'd been through, my beliefs, my habits.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Literally everything had to go in order to truly heal my PCOS, reverse that, and then become the person I was I am now, the woman I am now.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: But PCOS is a syndrome and a collection of symptoms.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: A syndrome by definition, as you know, is a collection of symptoms.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: And so if PCOS, also IBS, is a collection of symptoms, well, that's like the branch, right?
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: What's at the root of the tree?
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: And if a tree is dying, we don't look at the branches, we look at the root, right?
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: And so I really had to just one by one change everything.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: I will say the best place often to start, and where I do often start with clients is beliefs.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: So my main signature program is called the Healing Solution, and I formed it through so many years of working with one-to-one clients and realizing whether you have PCOS, autoimmune conditions, cancer, diabetes, whatever it is, we have to run through like a similar system.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: And we first of all, we have to look at your belief systems, right?
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And that's the step one of my 12-step program is to look at your belief systems, what you believe.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Because if you don't believe you can heal, you're not even gonna bother following the protocol.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: Because what's the point in trying, right?
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: You wake up in the morning and you think, well, I'm just gonna binge and watch Netflix.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Because what's the point?
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: What's the point?
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: And so belief systems, I think, was the most important thing.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know if that came first for me.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Maybe it did.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: I think everything was jumbled into one, but um, I believe that you can run through a step-by-step system.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: Um, the second thing I really had to do was look at uh why this happened and untangle it all.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: So this is the step where I take my clients through um a health timeline.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Like we put a health timeline.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Did you do this with your clients?
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Well, back when I was doing like the more of like the health symptoms and all the chronic stuff, because like one of the things we're we're taught in like Natchez Brothers School, or one of the first questions we asked is like, well, when did this start?
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: When is this the first time I can't?
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then we reverse back.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: But it's so funny, no many people don't ask them like when it started, or like traditional doctors don't look at the timelines.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: I'm just giggling because it's like, well, yeah, we gotta figure out because we gotta look at the time.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Route was, well, yeah, what's the root?
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Like, go ahead.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: I think the fascinating thing for many people to go through this process, I call it the root reveal process.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: And they put, you know, bulbborne.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, because if you were caesarean birth, you might have gut issues.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: So like we go right back to the start, and then I even pull it back a little bit, and I'm like, okay, let's look at what your mum was doing when she was pregnant with you.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: And we put the physical conditions first.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: And like anyone listening, like you can do this.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Put the physical conditions first, like the main obvious ones as a medical history standard doctor would do, but then we add in the emotional.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Yes, which is so important.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: IB parents divorced at seven.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: No, maybe not cool, but yeah, parents divorced at seven.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Um IBS started at eight.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: And so now we're penciling in the emotional.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Um, and then we do the mental as well and the spiritual.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: So I don't know, the little Ouija board at 11.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: No one's ever done that one, but I'm like, you know, this could be interesting.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Um, just spiritually as well, like connection, you know, what you were going through, mental, you know, were you bullied?
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Did you not like yourself?
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Like, was this you just create this timeline and then you look at it and it's like, oh, it makes sense.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: And probably this is also where you start smiling again.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: When I guess to smile, I'm like, oh, this makes sense.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: This makes sense.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: And they're like, what?
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, no, this, this puzzle piece here, and this is why, and it caused this, and like it's just all there.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: But I um in the beginning, when you said, Oh, it's overwhelming, I think maybe for someone who isn't trained in it, it's overwhelming.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: But I think when we look at it, we're like, It's very easy, oh, because we're putting all the puzzle pieces together.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And for the average person, they're not thinking about the the mindset, the beliefs, the emotion, the spiritual.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: They might think, oh, let me take this supplement, that's not it, and then may try this thing, but they haven't tried putting all of those steps together, not necessarily all at once, but sequentially and working through it on a layer-by-layer basis.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: But when you look at it as a whole, it kind of forms this whole picture.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: And where they feel like they never found the missing piece, it's because they weren't looking at all the different ones.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe they were only looking at like physical deficiencies and parasite cleanses and candida, but they didn't look at like the emotional stuff.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Or they looked at, you know, how they were growing up, but they didn't look at was there a divorce?
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Was there family conflict?
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: How was your birth?
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: What was going on at home?
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: Like, did you get lots of ear infections?
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: All right, why did you get like that's just time?
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: I had so many ear infections that they almost had to put in a tube.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: I'm like, well, that's why I had gut issues.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Like, but nobody connected the ear infections in the gut until I went to a naturopath.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Exactly that.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: I just think for some people it's a breath of relief to see, okay, I don't fully understand yet why this all makes sense, but I can at least see a timeline now of like where things started to go wrong and how it was connected.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: Once you realize, okay, everything they say online about it being connected, bam, it's true for me.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Now we have you in a place where you're excited because you're seeing how it's connected for you, and now you're excited to unravel it.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: Then is when I get into more of a naturopathic, like nutrition.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: I'm a nutritional therapist and a naturopath.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: So, you know, nutritional therapy.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: I do believe that if you did nothing else and you started with nutrition, as you know, it does make a big difference to the way you feel.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, I have a lot of clients with depression, and I've experienced like bouts of depression in my life that like I really didn't think I would ever be okay again.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: But like I said, there was no option of out for me, and there never will be.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: And so I was really depressed many times in my life, even as a naturopath, and going through like so much, and when you're in the pit of it, it's so hard to see anything clearly.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: And so you need someone else, you know, you need something else, someone else, God or a naturopath or someone to just kind of give you some clarity and peace and pull you out of there.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: And so, even as a health practitioner, I got a lot of health practitioners inquire about working with me.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: I think it's like when you become the person who unscrambles like the mystery cases, you know, because a lot of people can like change your nutrition and give you a supplement protocol.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but not a lot of people I've found.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: And I've honestly always wanted to find one, especially years ago when I was still really struggling with it.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: Like I've always wanted to find someone who actually pieced all those pieces together.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: That's why I created my company, The Arabella Solution, because I was studying and doing nutritional therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and I was still so depressed.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: I was exhausted, I was depressed, I was in an abusive relationship, I couldn't bring myself to leave.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: I I thought I was meant to be there to tell you.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: And so I was like, there has to be more than just nutrition because I'm taking the supplements, I'm eating the right foods.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, why am I so depressed?
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm in a toxic, awful relationship, and I hate my life.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: So there must be more.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: And that's really what got me into the emotional layer.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: And then some years later, I'd done so much work in somatic and therapy and mindset and beliefs, and I just felt so depressed and isolated still, and just like I'm supposed to be happy, I think, and something's still missing.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: And that's when I found God, and that's when that spiritual piece locked in for me.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: We are 100% gonna circle back to the spiritual God piece, but I want to come back to even the emotional piece because I think sometimes for people when they're looking at health information online, and I know I felt this way, maybe they're eating healthy, they're doing the carrots and hummus, or they're gluten-free or the daily free, or their keto, their paleo.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: And I went through the same thing of like, well, I'm gluten-free, I'm dairy free, I do the IVs, I take all the expensive supplements, I did the parasite.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: If you name it, I did it.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: And I was like, why do I still have symptoms?
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Why am I still always anxious?
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: And I hadn't done the emotional work.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: And I was in naturopathic school, it was in like third year and fourth year, and I was like, there's still something missing.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: And I think that can also be frustrating for people is that they're doing a lot of like the right stuff nutritionally, and 100% that is still important.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: However, they're maybe missing that other emotion.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Piece that is the unlock, as I know it was for me and I was for you.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: But being able to see that as like a whole continuum, I think is gonna unlock so much for so many people listening.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Well, if you think about when you binge or when you don't take care of yourself or when you text your ex that you know you shouldn't, it's generally when you're not feeling good.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Because if you felt like the best version of yourself and you had dressed up, you had a blow dry, you've been to the gym, you ate a good meal.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: That was true.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: You had some time coming up with the girls that you love so much, like you will be way less likely to text your ex or eat that food that you know is poison to your body and doesn't make you feel good.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Whatever the habit is, smoking, drinking, drugs, men, women, really whatever your thing is, um, we all have a coping mechanism.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: And what I've noticed over the years is that clients will feel something, especially women.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: I am assuming you're the same that you only usually work with highly sensitive women, big feelers, deep feelers, and so they feel everything, then they don't know how to cope with that feeling, and so they use a substance, a habit, something that doesn't support them, and then so they then don't feel good.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: Their body doesn't respond well, and so they don't feel good, and so they then use the coping mechanism, and so they get stuck in this cycle.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: And healing is breaking that cycle of self-destruction.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: And I think a big part of it is owning the part that you play in your own destruction of your physical, mental, spiritual, emotional health.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: And so I do believe emotions play a big role, not just literally how emotion somatically impacts the body and the nervous system, but also the role it plays in your habits and how you show up in the world.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm curious, how big of a role would you say emotional versus like nutrition?
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: Like how much does nutrition matter versus emotional?
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Can nutritionally, if you're emotionally great, can we eat McDonald's like every day?
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: I'd love to hear your take on like nutrition and what you feel is most important when it comes to nutrition.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Such a good question.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: And I want your honest take.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Like, even if it's like not what other people say, like I'd I'm genuinely curious for your honest take.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: So my granddad is around 80 years old now.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: He's one of my best friends.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: I love that man so much.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: He's not a typical granddad that's like frail and weak and cute and old.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: He is this big large for life guy.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: He's got a big tummy, like so big.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: He's like the the happiest, smiliest guy in the room.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: And he um, his his partner, my my grandma basically, watching them grow up was fascinating.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: And I watched them before I was a naturopath, and now I've watched them for 10 years of studying naturopathic medicine.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: And what's happened has been really profound and it's impacted my practice, and it will answer your question.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: So my grandma, she eats, you know, salmon and broccoli, super healthy, strict regimen, routine, like doesn't miss, hardly drinks, and um she is the healthy one.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: My granddad eats a diet of cheese and wine, mostly lives in the south of France.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: Cheese, wine, the food there, though, is different.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: It is, but he also eats in England cookies, biscuits every day, a bottle of wine every night.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Like the man is not your show of health.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: But watching them over the years, my grandma got a lot more sick and a lot quicker.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: She worries all the time about everything.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: She's an overthinker.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: That'll that'll do it.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: And she worries, so you can eat all the greens in the world.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: But if you're chronically overthinking and your nervous system, as you know, is in complete state of stress, I've watched what that does to someone.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Whereas my granddad, I mean, I looked at him and knew there were symptoms and things going on, but he would go to the dick doctors and he was in perfect health.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: I love you, granddad, but you know, perfect health.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: Um, there was no disease diagnoses, and that was really fascinating for me.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: Um, fast forward, it's been a few years since my grandma has been so sick.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: It's been really impacting my grand's mental my granddad's mental health.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: He's been drinking a lot more, he is really suffering since his partner is kind of been on and off dying and suffering, and he's been her primary caretaker.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: And I've watched him like lose his spark a little bit.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: And just a few months ago, we got a cancer diagnosis for him.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: And he's okay, he's doing okay, but it's been really fascinating just watching.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: And do I think it's just that?
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: No, obviously, it's a buildup of all the things, but just watching him lose like his spirit to a degree and that like happy go-lucky energy.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: I really can see how that nervous system stress has just like his body's like, I can't hold it.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was always gonna give out at some point, but I have seen the big change.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Um, and to finish this up, when I spoke to him last week, he just had surgery and he made a joke.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: And he's in, I called him, he's in the surgery bed and he's just been through surgery, and he made a joke.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And I said, Grandad, you know, I'll be worried about you when you stop cracking jokes.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: And he said, you know, baby, he said, all these medications cost a lot of money, but you know what's free and what's from nature, what's from God?
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: My sense of humor.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: And no one can take that from me.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: I have it right now, it's free, and I can use my sense of humor whenever I want.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: And I truly believe that sense of humor, that lightness that he can bring into a situation that is absolutely chaotic is what has kept him alive and healthy and well for so long.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: And so to answer your question, I truly believe that when you have a strong spirit, you can kind of eat what you want and get away with so much more in life because your nervous system is more regulated.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: And I think that's so interesting because I think when people think about health, they automatically think just about what you eat first, and that's the first and foremost thing.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: However, people don't think about like emo, and I know now they think more about emotional health, but like I think about five, six years ago when I graduated med school, I was like, people weren't as like, oh, emotional health, nervous system health as they are now because Instagram is in a good way made it more relevant.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: But you can see how someone can eat healthy, do all the right things, you know, even like work out, train, and then you hear about these people who eat super healthy or train well, all of a sudden get sick or get these things, yeah, because they didn't address the emotional.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: And you can see of like, oh, yet someone who maybe doesn't eat as well, but has more of the spirit or doesn't worry as much or you know, all these things ends up faring a bit better.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: It's wild.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: It's been fascinating.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: It almost grounded me up when I found this out because I was like, I've just studied nutritional therapy.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Yup, just have been getting this degree for 10 years now.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Like, is it the gluten?
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: I don't like.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: And you know, I have noticed though in myself that if I don't eat well, I have like a window of tolerance.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: Yes, 100%.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: I can get away with.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I actually teach that to my clients.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: I'm like, listen, I know I shouldn't say this, but I'm just gonna teach you what you can get away with and still feel good because I believe that's what we're meant to do.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: And I can get away with certain things for a while and then I'll feel my symptoms come back.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: The good news is it's not stressful because I know what to do about it.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: But even just over the last couple of weeks, I mean, I was like moving, I was going through some relationship stress, I was finishing my degree, my granddad, I mean, I was like really overwhelmed with work.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: And I just was like grabbing cheese and ham sandwiches my boyfriend made me sometimes.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Like I really was just like grabbing things I could.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: And so I started to notice like my skin was breaking out a little bit and I felt more tired in the mornings.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: And so I'm actually about to start a miracle liver cleanse.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I do a liver cleanse, like I used to do it four times a year, and I don't know how it's been like a year since I've done it, but I'm about to start one.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: That for me is like a good little reset, and it doesn't come from a place of like needing to restrict and starve myself.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: It's a really nourishing reset, but I do find that I need to reset.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: The way I describe it is like when the wardrobe or the messy drawer gets a little bit messy, and you need to do a nice little clear out every now and then.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of where I'm at with my health now.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: I do notice like I can't live like a normal person for too long.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, normal, yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: I could look I hate that, but I also hate what's like live like a normal person.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Like, why is that normal too?
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, like we won't want that tan shit, but it's just like, should that be normal or should more of like what you just said is normal?
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: It's like there's a window of tolerance, but like what's normal is like these are the foods you eat, this is how we take care of ourselves, versus I feel like most normal is like the inverse relationship.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Really true.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it should be the other way.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: You're absolutely right.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: I do agree with you.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: Um, but I do find that I can't live like the standard yes and experience.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: I can get away with a lot now without having symptoms.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, I could eat some, I feel like I could eat metal or cardboard and not bloat at this point, you know?
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: But um, I definitely noticed, for example, if I was to drink alcohol twice in a week, three weeks in a row, uh things would start bloating me.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: You know, and I haven't bloated in years.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: And so I do have a window of tolerance.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: I do have the MTH of our gene mutation though, and I do believe that deeply impacts women.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: I have seen so many women in practice with the MTH of our gene mutation.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Have you?
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: More than I think people think it's common.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: And I when I found it, I was like, I don't methylate.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh, you have it too.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: It was like, I wonder how many.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: I finally got that like when I got the Dodge test back in like, I don't know, 2019.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: I don't know, 20, like I was just, yeah.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: I think it's more common than than people think.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: Well, if it impacts our ability to detox well, it's gonna mean that, you know, I see a classic woman I see in practice, energy issues, hormone issues, digestive issues, they just like they're like, why can't I live like my boyfriend can, you know?
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: And they're just not feeling good.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: Um, a question I always ask is like, are you sensitive to chemicals?
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: Like when you get into an Uber and there's an air freshener, like, are you well?
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: And that's usually my telltale sign that someone maybe has uh liver detox issues or methylation issues.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: And then I would start asking more questions.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: But a lot of like highly sensitive women as well, um, and they just like can't methylate.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, a little methylated B vitamin and a little bit of NAC can go a long way for a person like that.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: And so for me personally, like it changes the way that I live to just almost like it's like receiving your user manual for the car that you've been driving your whole life, and it's actually a breath of fresh air.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: I I found that out and I felt free.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: I know some people find that kind of thing out and they feel scared, but I felt like I think it's so easying.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh, this makes sense now.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: Like it's just my methylation.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: And I like that like user manual because sometimes I feel like, how often do you actually read the user manual of your car?
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Literally never.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't think anyone has actually read their user manual of the car that they're driving, but that's standing with their body.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: It's like you haven't read the user manual, and we just didn't how it didn't come with the car.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: It's like it didn't come with this user manual of, oh, I didn't know I didn't methyl.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: I didn't know this.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: And like we just we don't know, but that is so important to understanding how the car or how the body is operating.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: I want to bring in like now this faith element because we've talked about physical, we've talked about the emotional.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I wanted to bring in the faith and kind of how that was for you and how you discovered because like you said, you didn't grow up this way, which I kind of I thought you did.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: And so I'd love for you to go into that and what role that has played, both for you but how important you see that is for clients.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my family think I'm crazy for sure.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: That's funny.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: I'm like, should we pray?
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: My mom would probably think I was crazy.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: If I did like praying before a meal, she'd probably like, yeah.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: My mom's slowly getting there.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: I did bring her to a church service one time when she was in Miami, and I looked over and she had a tear in her eye.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: I was like, Oh, gotcha there.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: It was beautiful.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: It was a beautiful moment for me.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Um, you know what?
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: When I was growing up, uh, I lost my dad.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: I was it was a week from my fifth birthday.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: I was so young, I was a baby.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: My brother was a bit older, he was around eight.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: And when you go through a big trauma like that, and like someone's there and then they're gone, and it wasn't like a normal death, it was very hush hush back then.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Like the town is talking.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: And like it was like a man's mental health back then was not a topic of discussion.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: And my dad was 20 years older than my mum, so he was even from a different generation, and so it was very hush hush.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: And so the death was was not spoken about.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: Everything was like pushed down, yeah.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: To tell you, even to this day, my mum still tells people that he passed in a different way in a car accident.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Um, and it I get it, it's kind of easier in the moment, you know, when someone says, Oh, so what did happen?
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: And you're like, And you also probably don't want that the face or whatever people's like perceptions, if you say it was a suicide, then people it can't be do what happened.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: So it was very hush, hush.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: So I do believe that um that was what made it also more traumatic because it was like this thing that couldn't really be spoken about.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: But we went through that really young, and that just really impacted me growing up, you know.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: I my relationship with men, like I just craved like a man's arms around me, but it was unconscious.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: I didn't know I was craving that because I'd lost my dad, and it seems obvious now and so silly.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: But at the time, I'm just like a 15-year-old girl who just like wants who just wants everyone to love her and love people.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: And I went through a really hard time in school and was really bullied, beaten up by all my best friends.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: The only person who would take me in was my boyfriend at that time, and he was a drug dealer.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: So go figure what happened from that point in my life.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: It was really a downward spiral, and I feel sad I wasn't protected better around that time.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: And I feel sad about when I look back at how we didn't have faith and how we didn't have rules and structure, like the Bible would never have allowed certain things, situations I was put in or put myself in, because I didn't know there was another way to live.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: I was just like being like thrown around in life, you know, and I didn't know there was these like rules and structure we could live by.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: And that's what I found in the Bible, you know.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: And I used to think like not being intimate before marriage, for example, was crazy.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: And now I see it as protection, right?
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: Like there's this way of living that can protect you from the world and from the evils of the world and the darkness of the world.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: And I experienced so much that was living inside me, you know, and I had to heal all of that, and I had to go through so much.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: And I just think at some point I started to think like, what is the meaning of all this?
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: What's the point in all this pain?
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: Like, there has to be a meaning.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: And that was what got me to start asking questions about the world and the universe, is what I would say at the start.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: I didn't couldn't even say the word God.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: I thought it was weird.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, let alone Jesus.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: I thought people were so weird for saying the name of Jesus.
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: I was so indoctrinated that people with faith were weird.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: But you have to have faith in your healing journey.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: You have to have faith in your life.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Because if you don't, something bad happens and you think, what's the point of living?
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: What's the point in all this?
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: When you have faith to cling to, it's like, it's like um air when you're suffocating.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: It's like the the light in the darkness.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: And I feel so sad for people that don't have faith.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: And so I had to I started to get faith, but then I started asking questions.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: I was in new age spirituality, I was a yoga teacher.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Now I'm teaching yoga and doing meditation, and there was some darkness there too inside people, and it's you suddenly think there's safe because you're in a spiritual place, and there's some darkness there too.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: And so I started asking myself, Well, who is my God?
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: Because everyone's worshipping a lot of different stuff, yeah.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: So who is God?
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: And I went through certain experiences where I really met God, and I found I found Jesus, and I started going to church when I first came to Miami, and I they would sing Jesus, and I'd be like, I couldn't even say it.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: I was I thought it was so weird, I didn't get it.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: And then um, and then I started to get a relationship with Jesus and with God, and it just changed my life.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: I ended up getting baptized um in February 2025, and it was just such a beautiful experience when you get baptized.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know what your religious preference is, but or what you know about it, when you get baptized, you receive the Holy Spirit.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: And so what was living inside me before, I believe, was dark spirits.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Everyone's spiritual and there's spirits everywhere, but whether you have the Holy Spirit or dark spirits is two different things.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: And I believe many people that are plagued with things like depression, with anxiety, with tormenting thoughts in their head.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: I used to watch those movies of like the exorcism and be like, that's so not real.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: I do get it now, I see it.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: And so I received the Holy Spirit and my life transformed, and it was like so much healed within me.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: And you know, they say when you squeeze a person, what comes out is what's inside them.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm definitely not perfect, but I believe when you squeeze me, lightness and this Holy Spirit comes out now.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: And when you squeeze me before, I I don't believe that was the case.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: And so faith has truly transformed and changed my life, and I can't not talk about it because it's like the missing piece that no supplement, no protocol can really hit the way that God does.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: And I believe we all have like that's okay, no, it's okay.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: We all have like a God-shaped hole in our heart or inside us, and I believe that only God can fill that.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: But until we have God filling that void, we'll fill it with toxic relationships, with relationships in general, with food, with alcohol, with any coping mechanism.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: And once I finally received the Holy Spirit, it was like I just felt complete.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: And I'm still working on a million different things, but there was just a sense of wholeness and completeness that I'd never experienced before.
- 40:45SPEAKER_00: I'm so I'm definitely gonna take that as a soundbite in terms of like the God-shaped hole because it's so, I think, true.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: And I also love your experience of even being baptized when you're older and having this, because I was baptized when I was young.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: So many people are baptized, like, I don't remember, but you get to remember and like that feeling, I feel like is so to have that as an adult and feel that versus like a baby or young kid that they don't, or it's like, oh, water is hot my head.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: They don't, it doesn't register.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: I feel like that's so special that you got to have that experience.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: And for everyone listening, in terms of building that relationship and discovering it, I know you said like you found and you have these experiences.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, did you start reading the Bible?
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: And then you said, like, yeah, one day, like, I'm just gonna read the Bible, or I'm just gonna try going to church.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: Like, what did those steps kind of look like for everyone who might be like, well, maybe I should like just start reading the Bible?
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Did you watch YouTube videos?
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Did you like follow people who were like, did you have the app on your phone that gives you a Bible verse and then decide like one day by yourself to like just walk into a church?
- 41:45SPEAKER_00: Kind of what did that look like for you?
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: And like what would you say for people who might have that same kind of curiosity and want to explore that?
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: What they could be doing.
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: I really hit a rock bottom, I would say, with like my relationships with men, because they'd been like healing and upgrading and it was getting better and better every time, but I was still just like, this is a mess.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: Um, I have to figure this out.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: And so I was in a really low place and I went to a church in New York for the first time.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: And then I shortly after moved to Miami and I just started going to church.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: I just felt like there were like inspirational talks.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: I really didn't think I was like a Christian.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: You know, one day I was like, Am I a Christian?
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And I it everything changed, but it was like everything changed in certain moments that I met God, but also it just changed gradually, gradually, gradually, slowly, slowly, slowly, like what 0.1% every single day.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: I did get a Bible.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: I would say that's the most important part because even when you're listening to people talk, even me talk right now, everything's through a through a lens.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: The the Bible is is the word of God.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: That's where we find it.
- 42:51SPEAKER_01: And how we hear God's voice is by reading the Bible, because there are many voices that you may experience in your mind.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: But how do you know if it's God?
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: Well, does it sound like what's in the Bible?
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: Do you find that now that you read the Bible, you just when you go through life, you hear the book?
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: I find like I hear, like, be not afraid, only believe.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: Faith of a mind, like I just I hear things or like I remember stories.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: Do you find that the same way?
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: I actively feel like when I was leaving a previous relationship, I really felt like I was enslaved in Egypt and like heading towards the promised land and that story.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: So to answer your question, I read the Bible a lot, like an angel card.
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: Like I close my eyes.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: No, but that's fine.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, sometimes that's that's the guy that's like that's what you need to know.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: I believe God met me there.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: I believe I've matured more as a Christian, and um, whether or not you should do that, I'm not the right person to ask.
- 43:48SPEAKER_01: But I do believe God spoke to me in that way at the time, and I believe he's all powerful and he'll speak to you in your language to come get you.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: You know, it won't always need to look like being a perfect.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Christian in church.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: I do know a lot of people have been hurt by religion, but I think it's important to remember that people hurt you.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: And those same people hurt Jesus, you know, and he really was only here to help and was a perfect person.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: So if if a truly kind, loving person was still hurt by religious people, then it would make sense that you could be too, right?
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: And I have experienced some kind of church hurt here and there.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: Not really, but 1% enough to kind of get the taste of it and see how that could be really bitter to some people.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: But I do believe that when you step towards spirituality and the light, it impacts your whole body physiol like physiology.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: You know, and I believe that every single cell in your body is listening and it's vibrating according to what you're feeding it.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Um, it's responding.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: And I believe that when you're full of the Holy Spirit, it can do more healing than any protocol ever could.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: I was gonna ask you, do you find that there's a correlation in terms of someone's relationship and like the strength of their faith with their ability to heal and have the supplements or the dietary or nutrition or the emotional stuff work better?
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: Do you find there's like a correlation between that?
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Definitely there is.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: However, I do love God, but I do wonder how he could shift a vitamin D deficiency or a B12 deficiency or a methylation issue.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Like I do believe God is all is all knowing and can do anything.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: But I just believe like the combination of really looking at like the way your body functions physically, and then also you add God in.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: I just think it it when you add God in, it gives you the opportunity for miracles.
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: And then you maybe don't you don't have to work so hard.
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: What would you say to someone who maybe feels that their relationship with faith is harder because they have this healing to do, and they either feel like, well, does God not love me?
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: Why would God do this to me?
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: And it's almost like instead of helping their journey, it actively makes it quote unquote worse or makes it more difficult to have that strong relationship with their faith.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: I still wonder every day if I'm disappointing God.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: I still wonder if God loves me.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: I still wonder if I'm doing it right.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: I still wonder if He'll leave me.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: I do, because it it it all of your trauma is really like uncovered, you know, when you come into this deep relationship with someone.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: So if you come into deep relationship with God, it's going to shine a light on all the stuff you have.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: And I still wonder, but what it's brought to my life is profound and outstanding, and I can't not see it like that.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: I don't think there's ever a perfect relationship with anyone, and there's definitely not a perfect relationship with God, but God doesn't need you to be perfect or to not even have those thoughts.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: He just wants to spend time with you and love you and and witness you in that.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: What's your favorite way to spend time with God?
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: I love to listen to worship music and sing.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and then after I do that and I really feel that like fuzzy Holy Spirit feeling, I love to just sit and pray and just be in his presence.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: I find music really helps me.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: But I have been reading this book and it's called A Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren, and it's finding your purpose with God.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: Because I was finding my purpose in the world for many years, and I really had a big crash out last year.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: I got like viral meningitis.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: I was awfully watching it on Instagram.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: I was flawed, and not only was I flawed physically, I was absolutely shocked and stunned by how everyone was watching me in the worst moment of my life.
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: Not everyone was watching me, it felt like that.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I failed at the one thing I'm supposed to be good at.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: What am I doing here?
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: If I can't even do this, what it what who am I?
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: What is my identity?
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: What is my purpose?
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: I asked all these questions.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: It got me much closer to God, and I finally learned my identity is in Christ.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, I wish someone taught me that when I was young.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: What has saved me a lot of trouble because I was looking for my identity and everything else, you know.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: But to answer your question, my favorite way to spend time with God is to really um just worship and listen to the music.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: So, oh, that's what let's come back.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: A little bit of neurodivergence here.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: So we'll come back.
- 48:39SPEAKER_01: The purpose-driven life by Rick Warren.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Um, in there, he talks about how different people pray, and I love it.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: I think it's so good because he talks about how I think he gave like 10 or 12 examples of how different people worship and pray, and it's based on how their brain functions and who they are as a person.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: That's full.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: So it's like why some people really feel the Holy Spirit, they really feel connected and loved and amazing when they listen to music.
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: I love music too.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: And then other people they feel really connected when they just practically give back with their money, or and that's how they worship, or people love to worship in silence.
- 49:15SPEAKER_01: Other people love to worship in in this way.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: And it was, I I wish I had the list.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: Um, I could I could give it to you, but it just gave this example of how you can worship in different ways.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: And so I just think however you feel that sparkly connection, like God's presence, is perfect for you.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: I love that you brought this up and the different ways.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go read that book because I think maybe some would be like, well, I don't do it that way, and they think maybe that they do it that way, and someone else does it this way, and they can actually find the one that works best for them, and then that perhaps it will help their relationship.
- 49:48SPEAKER_00: Maybe they've been trying to do it in one way that's not the best for them, and they're maybe maybe for them it is music, and that's why they're listening to this.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: Do you have like a favorite song or it is like what in terms of your worship music?
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love Abby Gamboa.
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: I think she's so great.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: I love her music.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: I like really gentle worship music.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I'm like, I like a little bit of Forrest Frank, a little bit of vibey stuff.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: But for me, as like a really highly sensitive person, I almost like stop wanting to label myself as that.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: And I don't like to speak that over myself too much.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: But I am.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: So I like really relaxing things that just make me feel like calm and like an exhale, you know?
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: So like gentle worship music playlists and things I just really love.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: This was so amazing.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: I loved getting to chat.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: I love how we went through this whole journey of kind of where we started, like the physical nutrition, the emotional, and then finishing off with God.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: I felt like we wrapped up like a whole wonderful conversation, kind of went into everything.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: Is there something you want to leave the audience with, something that's on your heart, something you feel called to say when it comes to living beyond limits that you think would really help them?
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love that.
- 50:59SPEAKER_01: It's been an amazing conversation.
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: I've loved it so much.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: And it really reminds me like of my healing journey where like you start with the physical.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: I think most people do.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think most people do.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: From what I we have very similar, like we start here and then we're like, oh, oh, oh, but I don't know if you agree, but I feel like the physical is like the most densest layer.
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: So you work with like the dense of the physical body and then you work up.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: I would say the thing that has really given me the most strength in my own healing journey and just life in general would be Proverbs 3, 5, 6.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: In all of your ways, submit to him, and he will make your path straight.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: And the reason I love it is because, like, to go through it, trust with all your heart.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: Like I believe this is what we need for our healing journey.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: All your heart.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: Not part of it.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: Not like a with all of your heart.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: Keep going.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: If you have so many chronic symptoms or there's something that you want to do that feels impossible, even in an impossible diagnosis, I mean, I truly am just every day trying not to get sued and say the wrong thing because I really do believe that you can heal anything.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: I I really do hold that belief.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: And I think just when you see it so much, you know, like we have, you've witnessed so much of it.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: And then now I have God.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: I'm like, well, really anything is possible.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: So trust him and Lord with all your heart.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: You have to trust that you can heal with all of your heart.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Lean not on your own understanding.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: Very important.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: Don't lean your own understanding.
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: Even to this day, I'm trying I'm like, no, but God, like, can you just tell me?
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: Like, can you make this make sense?
- 52:29SPEAKER_01: And it's like, don't lean on your own understanding.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: We have these sweet little tiny human brains, and they're limited in general.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: They're also limited by our habits, our beliefs, our patterns, our experiences in life.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: And so this whole thing of like follow your heart.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: Don't follow your heart.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Don't trust your heart.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: Your heart can be deceitful and it's taken you to places that you shouldn't have been.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: Follow God, because He's never going to lead you to the wrong place.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: So lean not on your own understanding, because our own understanding is, especially if you have trauma, it's it's skewed.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: It's skewed.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: Like I'll just say it's skewed.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: We'll leave it at skewed.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: Skewed is a nice word because I do believe we have to learn to trust ourselves, but that's a whole journey in itself.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: So lean not lean not on your own understanding.
- 53:10SPEAKER_01: All your ways submit to him.
- 53:12SPEAKER_01: So that's like giving it all up.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: You know, like, okay, I surrender all of this to you.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and he will make your path straight, right?
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: So it will work out, it will all come together and make sense one day.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: But these are the steps you have to follow to get to that place.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: And Proverbs 3, 5, 6 was the first verse I ever read in the Bible, and it's something I've I've clung to and it's brought me so much peace.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: And you know, when that really helped me is when I I went through a breakup one time and none of it made sense, and I thought it was gonna be my person, and nothing made sense.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, like crying in the bathtub vibes, you know, when you're like like showering and then suddenly you're flawed.
- 53:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's a movie.
- 53:54SPEAKER_01: Life's a movie, you know.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: It is, it's been dramatic, to say the least.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: But just like that kind of level of pain.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: I'm sure everyone's experienced that for a multitude of different reasons.
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: But when you're experiencing that kind of level of pain and you still say this verse, like it will heal you and help you.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: And it kind of goes back to what we were saying in terms of hearing that in your head versus other thoughts in your head.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: Like if you come back to like that reverse and you that's what you're hearing, it's gonna be, yeah, so much different.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: I remember even just a few, a few months ago, and I was really going through something tough with my identity as God.
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: And I remember just not feeling good that day, and I was riding a bike, and I was on this bike, and my brain was just infused with thoughts that I just didn't know whose was whose, where it came from, you know, and like it was conflicting, like just constant.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: And all I could cling to was the only truth I knew in that moment, which is I am God's daughter.
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: Like that's all I had that day to tell you how bad it was.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: And so I was on this bike and I just repeated out loud over and over again.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, probably if I drove past someone, like I hope she's okay.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: But I repeated out loud, I am God's daughter, I am God's daughter, because it was all I could cling to in that moment.
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: And I think that's where the Bible has helped me so much because when nothing makes sense and it all falls apart, we can cling to the word of God.
- 55:30SPEAKER_01: And sometimes medical issues, Western medicine, even in naturopathic medicine, sometimes things don't make sense.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: We can make a sense of a lot of things, but sometimes we can't.
- 55:42SPEAKER_01: Sometimes it doesn't make sense, and sometimes you could even do everything right and lose your partner when you have two children, when you're the happiest time in your life and you've already healed, or or something happens, or you know, you get in an accident.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we don't know what's gonna happen to us in life.
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: So when we have faith to cling to, because a lot of people think they're gonna be in their healing journey and everything's gonna be perfect after.
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, we still have the human experience, yeah, you know, and we don't know what's gonna happen.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: So when we have God's word and we can cling to things like my identity is in God in Christ, I am God's daughter, Proverbs 3, 5, 6.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: When everything doesn't make sense, these things do.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: And I think when you're able to cling to that, it's like the thing that pulls you out.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, in that little moment in the morning, there wasn't a big deal or when everything falls apart.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: But I think when we have these things to cling to, it surpasses every medication, every supplement, every protocol that there really is.
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: I feel like that was such a beautiful place to end.
