- 0:00Speaker 1: Like today five o'clock, I will be at work at
- 0:03Speaker 1: the communities hit.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Oh there you go for those who didn't live there.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Yesterday and and I were talking about how Christopher Kidd
- 0:09Speaker 3: goes down to Family First, the Family First Community Center,
- 0:13Speaker 3: this center that Doug Baldwin started about fifteen minutes from
- 0:17Speaker 3: the Seahawks facility in renting.
- 0:19Speaker 2: The Seahawks were there on Wednesday and.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Chris was telling us about the visit that they had
- 0:23Speaker 3: and had the Drake Thomas has some basketball game.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah he was competing, man, he was not letting them
- 0:28Speaker 2: young ands do it. Yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 1: He had a couple and ones playing defense. And then
- 0:33Speaker 1: Patio he can Patio is smooth with it. You could
- 0:36Speaker 1: tell he might have played varsity ball started he was capable.
- 0:41Speaker 2: He showed something. I was okay.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Aj Barner cannot drouble, but he was big and big
- 0:45Speaker 1: as Hale and the kids can do nothing with him.
- 0:47Speaker 2: So those fund seeing those guys, Riley Mills like as
- 0:50Speaker 2: a basketball player.
- 0:51Speaker 1: If I'm not mistaken, Riley was just you know, he
- 0:53Speaker 1: was chatting with a with some of the staff.
- 0:55Speaker 2: He wasn't really I didn't well, he was coming off
- 0:57Speaker 2: in al so he probably he.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Got a second Super Bowl, so I'm not hearing it. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 1: but he was chilling. He was cool, calm, collected. He
- 1:04Speaker 1: might have played and I missed it, but for the
- 1:06Speaker 1: most part he was just talking with staff and just
- 1:08Speaker 1: hanging back and watching his teammates go out there and who.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Well, once again, I echoed Ian said yesterday how great
- 1:14Speaker 3: it is. And we've talked about how great it is
- 1:15Speaker 3: that you do that for the teens of the community.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So thank you, sir, You're welcome, Thank you for that. Well,
- 1:21Speaker 3: we got on the show today, we got you're gonna
- 1:23Speaker 3: hear from Leonard Williams and Grey Zabel specifically about what
- 1:27Speaker 3: these Super Bowl rings they got last night.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Getting him now in June means to them.
- 1:31Speaker 3: This is Jody Allen's last gift of the Seahawks really
- 1:34Speaker 3: before she and her brothers trust sells the team. Ten
- 1:37Speaker 3: forty five. We're gonna talk to our one of our
- 1:39Speaker 3: KGr soccer guys, either Anderson Hurst or Jackson Felts. Anderson
- 1:43Speaker 3: is green. Oh, Dad said he can do it now
- 1:45Speaker 3: and he'll be here all right. Anderson Hurst, our former resident,
- 1:49Speaker 3: former Seattle University soccer player, big soccer guy. He'll join
- 1:54Speaker 3: us talk about the World Cup and the USA Paraguay
- 1:56Speaker 3: match tonight number.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Six o'clock we j soccer tournament. Yeah that we you
- 2:02Speaker 1: mean actually played ourselves or just how Greg eyebrows just
- 2:05Speaker 1: went to his was like hairline. But yes, we should.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I have played indoor recently, not outdoor. But who should
- 2:12Speaker 2: do that? Have like a five one five game or
- 2:14Speaker 2: something that.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Sounds like an Achilles stairwaiting that havepened done that starting
- 2:19Speaker 3: and stopping at fifty plus years old?
- 2:22Speaker 2: That well, you could play goalie four, nine, four or five.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I'll finish, Well, let me finish with the rest of
- 2:27Speaker 3: the show is eleven o'clock. I'll give you a chance
- 2:29Speaker 3: to win twenty five hundred dollars in our nationwide two
- 2:32Speaker 3: hundred and fifty thousand dollars USA contest With a keyword.
- 2:34Speaker 3: At eleven o'clock I mentioned John Boyle, Seahawks dot com
- 2:37Speaker 3: team writer, who.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Has his own ring.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Now it's pretty cool. Actually, John's been in the business
- 2:42Speaker 3: as long as I have. We started almost well, he
- 2:45Speaker 3: started before I did, before I came to Seattle in
- 2:48Speaker 3: the early two thousands, and so he's been doing this
- 2:50Speaker 3: for a while for newspapers. The Everard Herald and now
- 2:52Speaker 3: he's been with the team for ten plus years, and
- 2:55Speaker 3: is this the second ring or no? He said no, Okay,
- 2:58Speaker 3: he was covering it for the Everard Harold. I believe
- 3:01Speaker 3: he still was. Yeah, because Claire Farnsworth was still a
- 3:03Speaker 3: team writer when they won the Super Bowl for forty eight.
- 3:06Speaker 3: So yeah, this is John's first and I just wanted
- 3:10Speaker 3: to get him on to talk. I don't know how
- 3:11Speaker 3: much he's gonna tell us. He probably won't tell us
- 3:13Speaker 3: where it was. It was this restaurant on the East
- 3:16Speaker 3: Side that was super secret. I'll be it just John's
- 3:19Speaker 3: pretty close to the vest On That stuff so makes sense.
- 3:21Speaker 3: We'll see how much we can get out of him.
- 3:24Speaker 3: He can tell us how much it weighs, and how
- 3:26Speaker 3: cool it is and how big it is on his hand,
- 3:28Speaker 3: and probably as much as an iPhone some Yeah, Gray's
- 3:31Speaker 3: Abel was saying he was wondering if his hand was
- 3:34Speaker 3: going to drop to the floor when they put it
- 3:35Speaker 3: in his hand.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They brought the rings down from a ceiling.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Like hot dogs from Heaven, except him fifty thousand dollars
- 3:44Speaker 3: hot dogs.
- 3:45Speaker 2: They descended from the ceiling of the.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Restaurant and boxes and that's how the players received him.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I'm told I wasn't there. No, I didn't get one.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Some people in the text on had been asking you, no, yeah, yeah, to.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Work for that.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yes, you have to be paid by the team, and
- 4:03Speaker 2: I'm unfortunately Greg is you know Tacoma News. I'm not
- 4:06Speaker 2: a fan. I'm not paid by the team.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So eleven thirty, we'll read back your text on the
- 4:11Speaker 3: Tacoma Doadge text line fortnine four or five one. The
- 4:14Speaker 3: first question I am going to have for you is
- 4:17Speaker 3: are you going to watch the World Cup? Casually all
- 4:20Speaker 3: everything you're are you catching World Cup fever? Or you
- 4:23Speaker 3: want nothing to do with it and just wish it
- 4:26Speaker 3: wasn't even here? Four nine four five one. I want
- 4:29Speaker 3: to gauge what our audience feels about the World Cup.
- 4:32Speaker 3: There's a lot of soccer here in the Pacific Northwest.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Obviously I'm into it. I I my kids both played
- 4:39Speaker 3: college in the soccer. My son played college soccer, my
- 4:42Speaker 3: daughter played grown up. They've grown up playing soccer. So
- 4:47Speaker 3: I've been to with thousands of games all over the
- 4:49Speaker 3: world for them. So it's been I've learned the game
- 4:53Speaker 3: through them. I played when I was a youth up
- 4:55Speaker 3: until in Ohio, Chris, it's football, right, So if you're
- 5:00Speaker 3: football player also plays soccer, your coach says you're playing
- 5:02Speaker 3: football only or you're not playing really, which is really
- 5:05Speaker 3: really wrong, but that's how it is.
- 5:07Speaker 2: There's two, isn't it? Spring and fall? In Ohio it
- 5:10Speaker 2: was fall was boys soccer.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Oh so you if you couldn't play football? No, so
- 5:16Speaker 1: my coaches, you can't play both.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So I played football. But that's weird. Why is it?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Is it? Well?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Some states that in Washington, I'm told that these seasons
- 5:26Speaker 3: are split between boys and the spring and the girls
- 5:30Speaker 3: in the fall because one field availability, two referee availability,
- 5:36Speaker 3: three coach availability. Wow, many schools have their own coaches
- 5:40Speaker 3: coach both the boys and the girls. So but other
- 5:44Speaker 3: states do have boys and girls soccer in the same season,
- 5:47Speaker 3: often in the fall, which does conflict with football. But anyway,
- 5:52Speaker 3: my point is, I know this is soccer hoppy, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 3: anyone listening knows that. But four nine, four to five
- 5:58Speaker 3: one that's coming out to tech line. Are you going
- 6:00Speaker 3: to watch the US game? Are you gonna be like
- 6:02Speaker 3: me and go down to peer sixty two tonight and
- 6:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna check it out. I'm gonna probably write a
- 6:06Speaker 3: story at the News Tribune about the fan experience. So
- 6:11Speaker 3: my daughter went down there yesterday for the Mexico South
- 6:13Speaker 3: Africa game.
- 6:15Speaker 2: As she was with her boyfriend and they went down.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Here's how it works. As I now, we haven't heard
- 6:20Speaker 2: about the boyfriend. Was make it to the trip or.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Something like this is do we have to get into this, Chris,
- 6:26Speaker 3: you can tell me off their It's okay, no, we can.
- 6:28Speaker 3: They've been dating for a long time and through her
- 6:31Speaker 3: graduating from the Coast Guard Academy.
- 6:33Speaker 2: His name's Connor.
- 6:34Speaker 3: He's a really great guy and he's okay, Greg, appreciate him. Yeah,
- 6:40Speaker 3: they might be listening. They're on their way to Doothy
- 6:41Speaker 3: Hill to bike right now. But he came out because
- 6:45Speaker 3: she came back from Peru and they came. They synchronized
- 6:48Speaker 3: their trips that they landed the other night at Seatach
- 6:51Speaker 3: and at the same time. So now they're home together
- 6:53Speaker 3: and okay, great, But but they went downtown yesterday to
- 7:00Speaker 3: Pier sixty two. Okay, And if you haven't gone yet,
- 7:02Speaker 3: here's how works Seattle Soccer celebration. They have four sites
- 7:06Speaker 3: around the city. One's at the Armory in Seattle Center.
- 7:09Speaker 3: One is at Pacific Place at West Lake Center. One
- 7:13Speaker 3: is at the Waterfront Park right below Pike Place Market
- 7:17Speaker 3: a peer sixty two down by the aquarium.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Here's how it works.
- 7:21Speaker 3: It's free to go on the pier and it has
- 7:24Speaker 3: a giant screen TV. And the daughter's boyfriend said, it's
- 7:28Speaker 3: not just like some projection screen TV out in your backyard.
- 7:30Speaker 3: It's an actual JumboTron, huge screen. Can see it from
- 7:34Speaker 3: the street. It's a cool deal with volume with audio
- 7:37Speaker 3: from the broadcast, but you have to wait in a
- 7:39Speaker 3: really long queue to get in. It's limited capacity. They
- 7:43Speaker 3: will cap it. And they're telling you for very popular
- 7:46Speaker 3: matches like say US Paraguay tonight, you better get there
- 7:49Speaker 3: early because they will eventually deny you access even if
- 7:52Speaker 3: you have a ticket. You have to get a ticket
- 7:54Speaker 3: online through the Seattle Soccer Celebration website or through a
- 7:59Speaker 3: QR code on your phone. As you're standing in the
- 8:01Speaker 3: queue in the line, que listen to me like Canadian.
- 8:05Speaker 3: So they waited for a bit, they got in and
- 8:09Speaker 3: then if you get in there, you can then get
- 8:11Speaker 3: access to that floating barge we talked about the bro
- 8:14Speaker 3: barge as Ian calls it. That is a pay for event.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Fifty two bucks to just get on the barge sounds
- 8:22Speaker 3: a little extortion just to me. Then two hundred and
- 8:25Speaker 3: twenty seven dollars if you want to get in the
- 8:27Speaker 3: vip loge deal.
- 8:29Speaker 2: On top of the pitch.
- 8:32Speaker 3: They have a mini soccer pitch on the barge and
- 8:34Speaker 3: another Giants Green TV. So it's fifty two dollars to
- 8:38Speaker 3: get on the barge. I don't know if that includes
- 8:40Speaker 3: food or not. They do have food and beverages there.
- 8:43Speaker 3: There's a food truck set up in the Free Pier
- 8:47Speaker 3: area as well.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So I'm expecting that I'll need to leave.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Early, probably like five or something to get down there
- 8:53Speaker 3: for the six o'clock match US and Paraguay tonight and
- 8:56Speaker 3: then stand in line, even though I already have tickets.
- 8:59Speaker 2: So that's how the pros this is supposed to work.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Some on a text line, if you were at the
- 9:04Speaker 3: scene yesterday, can tell us what it was like down.
- 9:07Speaker 2: There at Peer sixty two for the Mexico South Africa game.
- 9:09Speaker 3: They do this apparently for every match, day and night,
- 9:12Speaker 3: and I'm interested in anyone who is on the barge
- 9:15Speaker 3: in particular talk to us.
- 9:17Speaker 2: What is it worth?
- 9:17Speaker 5: It?
- 9:18Speaker 3: Is it worth to pay fifty two bucks to go
- 9:20Speaker 3: on the barge. What's on the barge that's not on
- 9:21Speaker 3: the pier other than you're floating in the Elliott Bay.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It's a cool idea in a really cool setting, and
- 9:29Speaker 3: the weather it being like it is right now, it
- 9:31Speaker 3: must be awesome. That's why I'm going to go check
- 9:33Speaker 3: it out tonight. But it sounds like myself in about
- 9:35Speaker 3: a million other Seattle Pacific Northwest people are going to
- 9:38Speaker 3: do the same thing anyway. Tonight is the first time
- 9:42Speaker 3: in thirty two years that US Soccer has hosted a
- 9:46Speaker 3: World Cup match on its own soil. Nineteen ninety four
- 9:49Speaker 3: is the last time, of course, the US hosted the
- 9:51Speaker 3: World Cup. And now they've evolved from when the games
- 9:57Speaker 3: were in Los Angeles. Used to be in the Rose
- 9:58Speaker 3: Bowl in Sofi Stadium, the glittery new place that the
- 10:03Speaker 3: Rams and Chargers play in just south of downtown and Inglewood,
- 10:06Speaker 3: the old Hollywood Park era. So that's where the first
- 10:08Speaker 3: match is and I think the third US match there
- 10:10Speaker 3: is as well as a reminder. A week from tonight,
- 10:14Speaker 3: June week from today, I should say, June nineteenth, at noon,
- 10:18Speaker 3: the US national team is playing its second match against Australia.
- 10:22Speaker 3: The soccer rows come in here against the Americans at
- 10:26Speaker 3: a noon June nineteenth game. So Monday is the first match.
- 10:32Speaker 3: It's most Sava in Egypt going against Belgium. Belgium a
- 10:37Speaker 3: top ten world power. That's at noon on Monday. We're
- 10:40Speaker 3: going to be broadcasting live from Jimmy's at on first
- 10:43Speaker 3: right across the street from the stadium on Monday morning.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Give you a scene of the flavor then on Monday
- 10:49Speaker 3: morning for that. So that's the Seattle's deal. Also, I'm
- 10:52Speaker 3: told that community centers around the city have watch parties,
- 10:55Speaker 3: although they tend to be indoors. I'm told that Seattle
- 10:59Speaker 3: Public Library inches across the city have live viewing. I'm
- 11:04Speaker 3: not sure if the volumes allowed to be up in
- 11:06Speaker 3: the library viewing. Maybe you have to sit there watching
- 11:08Speaker 3: silence with your hands folded.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I don't know. Anyway, they're giving up.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Ample opportunities for you to participate in four nine, four
- 11:15Speaker 3: or five one. Are you going to participate? You're going
- 11:16Speaker 3: to watch the World Cup. You're gonna catch out some
- 11:18Speaker 3: of these public viewings, and any of you who have
- 11:21Speaker 3: already gone down to the pier or any of the
- 11:22Speaker 3: public viewings. Hit us up on the text line and
- 11:25Speaker 3: we can talk about what your experience was. Up next,
- 11:29Speaker 3: let's talk about the Seahawks mini camp, what I saw
- 11:31Speaker 3: to end it, what Gray's able, Leonard Williams are saying
- 11:34Speaker 3: about getting their Super Bowl rings and what it means
- 11:36Speaker 3: to get.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It in June. There's a little closed book. Move on
- 11:40Speaker 2: to the next thing thing going on there. That's next.
- 11:42Speaker 3: At eleven o'clock, John Boyle is going to join us,
- 11:45Speaker 3: tell us about getting a Super Bowl ring, his experience
- 11:47Speaker 3: last night at the ceremony. Ten forty five Anderson Hurst,
- 11:51Speaker 3: the talk World Cup. All that's coming up. By ninety
- 11:52Speaker 3: three point three k JRFM.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Welcome back to the show.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Happy Friday to year, The Greg bellt Show with Christopher
- 12:07Speaker 3: kid Live on ninety three point three KGRFAM. We do
- 12:09Speaker 3: it every weekday ten am to noon six pm. Today,
- 12:14Speaker 3: live here on ninety three point three the US and
- 12:17Speaker 3: Paraguay first World Cup match for the Americans in Inglewood, California, Live.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Here on your radio six pm kickoff. It's pretty cool.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I think the World Cup being in the United States,
- 12:30Speaker 3: Canada and Mexico. Canada, by the way, is starting on
- 12:32Speaker 3: its home soil today a noon kickoff against Bosnia Herzgovina.
- 12:37Speaker 3: There are in Toronto. There are pictures online of videos
- 12:41Speaker 3: of Canadians and Bosnians marching through the streets of Toronto
- 12:45Speaker 3: on their way to the match. That's the stuff we're
- 12:47Speaker 3: going to get starting on Monday here when Egypt and
- 12:51Speaker 3: Belgium play. I've already seen Belgiums and Egyptians around town
- 12:54Speaker 3: with their flags and their jerseys and some of the
- 12:56Speaker 3: spirit of the World Cup. Yhawks finished their mini camp
- 13:02Speaker 3: mandatory mini camp, the only mandatory event of the off season, yesterday.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Three practices ending yesterday, defense dominated, as they should. This
- 13:10Speaker 3: is the number one ranked defense in the NFL last year.
- 13:12Speaker 3: A few his points allowed.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I saw. I'll tell you what I saw yesterday.
- 13:17Speaker 3: It was a shorter practice than the first day, and
- 13:20Speaker 3: the starters didn't do ones against ones eleven on eleven,
- 13:23Speaker 3: and the shorts and T shirts as much yesterday as
- 13:25Speaker 3: they did on Tuesday. Remember, Wednesday took basically took most
- 13:28Speaker 3: of the day off to go volunteering across Seattle to
- 13:32Speaker 3: Puget Sound, to the VA Hospital and the Puget Sound
- 13:36Speaker 3: Seattle Children's Ronald McDonald House, and Chris's family first center
- 13:40Speaker 3: in renting. But yesterday back to football and they was
- 13:44Speaker 3: last eleven on eleven ones against one, so it was
- 13:47Speaker 3: more two and two and three and threes and Nick
- 13:52Speaker 3: emn Woorry was John with everybody. He's like a mini
- 13:55Speaker 3: Devin Witherspoon even wore at one point was John with
- 13:59Speaker 3: Charles crust Gray's Zabel across this line of scrimmage from
- 14:02Speaker 3: each other in a red zone drill. I did see
- 14:05Speaker 3: Sam Darnold throw a touchdown pass at Jackson Smith and
- 14:08Speaker 3: Jig but when they kind of turned around and got
- 14:10Speaker 3: Devin Witherspoon and Josh Job looking at each other and
- 14:13Speaker 3: who was supposed to have Witherspoon down the sideline.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Into the end zone.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But I was not the only other time that Mike
- 14:19Speaker 3: McDonald's defense got beaten. I mean they were dominant yesterday.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Second and third team defense, particularly Julian Neal third round
- 14:28Speaker 3: pick cornerback, intercepted a tip pass from Jalen Miller at
- 14:32Speaker 3: the goal. Ryne he sprinted all the way from one
- 14:35Speaker 3: end zone, the south end zone, all the way to
- 14:36Speaker 3: the end zone that's next to the building.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Witherspoon ran with him.
- 14:40Speaker 3: He ran like ninety plus yards off the sideline, yelling
- 14:43Speaker 3: and screaming and hooping at the offense, and when they
- 14:45Speaker 3: got back to the other end of the field, they
- 14:47Speaker 3: threw the ball up in the air and they shot
- 14:49Speaker 3: at like it was like some skeet target practice, like
- 14:51Speaker 3: a clay pigeon type thing. They pantomime shooting the ball.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Witherspoon's he's just he's a trip during practice. Pretty entertaining.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Next play after that, linebacker Chris Paul, second year guy,
- 15:02Speaker 3: leaped and almost intercepted Milrose pass at the goal line.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Then they played Renegade on the stick song blaring on
- 15:09Speaker 3: the loud speaker, and Witherspoon led the whole defense jumping
- 15:11Speaker 3: up and down. About that quarterback, Noah Igbinoghany, He's used
- 15:16Speaker 3: to be a starter with the Dolphins and the Commanders.
- 15:19Speaker 3: People have asked me about him and what he's doing.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I've seen him mostly with the third team defense at corner. Yesterday,
- 15:25Speaker 3: did a little more second team work, Monogamy did. They
- 15:28Speaker 3: signed him in the offseason to a one year deal.
- 15:30Speaker 3: He intercepted Drew Locke at the goal line and Reallyspoon
- 15:33Speaker 3: ran with him again down to the other end. They
- 15:35Speaker 3: shot the clay pigeon skeech practice. At the other end again,
- 15:39Speaker 3: rookie second round pick safety Bud Clark. They're moving him
- 15:42Speaker 3: all around, and Mike McDonald said this week, we're just
- 15:45Speaker 3: trying to find out how much he can absorb, where
- 15:48Speaker 3: we can move him safety, some corner, some nickel. It
- 15:53Speaker 3: sounds like a lot what he was talking about with
- 15:54Speaker 3: Nicky mon Warre this time last year. That's how I
- 15:57Speaker 3: envisioned McDonald trying to use Bud Clark. Clark sped all
- 16:01Speaker 3: the way across the field Chris from the left sideline
- 16:03Speaker 3: to the right side in full sprint to cut off
- 16:06Speaker 3: the new receiver Irvin Charles that they just got from
- 16:08Speaker 3: the Jets in the trade. It made Milroe have to
- 16:11Speaker 3: throw somewhere else. You rarely see lateral speed that quickly
- 16:14Speaker 3: from a defensive back. Bud Clark was running like a
- 16:17Speaker 3: cornerback on that play. It really stuck out to me
- 16:20Speaker 3: and then Neil spread it across the field, Den Milroe
- 16:23Speaker 3: clean look at Ricky White the wide receiver and a
- 16:25Speaker 3: long crossing route. They were fast the rookies. Bud Clark.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Bud Clark's a big dude, but he's fast. Julian Neal
- 16:34Speaker 3: is lankier, taller, and he's also fast. So practice that
- 16:38Speaker 3: ended after linebacker Jalen Gaines raced in unblock would have
- 16:41Speaker 3: been a sack from Milroe if they're allowed to touch the quarterback.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Defensive players, of course, love that McDonald pumped his fist
- 16:49Speaker 3: in his arm toward the ground and said, ah, we'll
- 16:51Speaker 3: end practice here. That's a pretty good play to end it,
- 16:53Speaker 3: all right. The defense dominating set the theme for the holding.
- 16:56Speaker 3: So the Horns blew off seasons over Witherspoon. That's when
- 17:01Speaker 3: he was on the sidelines yelling whole lot of ass whipping.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It was Witherspoon's summation of the day.
- 17:09Speaker 3: And they left and they went to get washed up
- 17:12Speaker 3: and come back for the Super Bowl ring ceremony, a
- 17:15Speaker 3: private event at a restaurant on the East Side. We're
- 17:18Speaker 3: gonna have John Boyle on at eleven o'clock to describe
- 17:20Speaker 3: to us the scene, the ring, how much it weighs,
- 17:23Speaker 3: how cool it does it have one, and how cool
- 17:25Speaker 3: the event is. This is rare. We talked about this, Chris.
- 17:29Speaker 3: It's only happened twice in fifty one years in this
- 17:31Speaker 3: franchise's history. Getting Super Bowl rings and yeah, and around
- 17:36Speaker 3: Seattle right now, we're all saying, wow, can he run
- 17:38Speaker 3: it back? Can you get back to the Super Bowl?
- 17:39Speaker 3: And sounds great, and we have this team's loaded, but
- 17:42Speaker 3: it rarely happens. It just doesn't whether it's injuries or
- 17:46Speaker 3: other teams loading up, or the Rams getting Miles Garrett,
- 17:49Speaker 3: or the quarterback play not the same, or injuries again,
- 17:52Speaker 3: and it just there's so many variables that things have
- 17:56Speaker 3: to line up just so it's so hard to get
- 17:58Speaker 3: back that they did. They I felt yesterday. They cherished
- 18:02Speaker 3: how rare this thing was. Yesterday, so they talked about
- 18:06Speaker 3: the timing of this. I could not remember, Chris back,
- 18:09Speaker 3: Ian and I were trying to think when the Super
- 18:11Speaker 3: Bowl forty eight champions got their rings, but I thought
- 18:13Speaker 3: it was later in the summer. I thought it was
- 18:15Speaker 3: during training camp, but I can't remember. I don't know if
- 18:17Speaker 3: you remember it back then, I'm.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Right there with you and Ian Man, we'd have the
- 18:20Speaker 2: Google and figure it out.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I don't think it was this early. But the players,
- 18:25Speaker 3: the coaches in the football staff only got the rings
- 18:27Speaker 3: last night. So Jody Allen, they pushed to get those
- 18:31Speaker 3: football guys their rings, so that they could have them
- 18:33Speaker 3: so they could go into the offseason with them already,
- 18:37Speaker 3: and there was some capping bookending intent for that. Gray's
- 18:43Speaker 3: able when Leonard Williams talked about the timing of it,
- 18:45Speaker 3: the meaning of it, but no doubt this is a
- 18:47Speaker 3: closing the book on twenty twenty five season and saying, Okay,
- 18:51Speaker 3: now we got our rings, let's look ahead to the
- 18:52Speaker 3: twenty six season, starting with training camp and given July
- 18:55Speaker 3: twenty fifth. This was Leonard Williams yesterday about that It
- 18:58Speaker 3: seemed like a practice.
- 19:00Speaker 6: I think that's part of what I'm just excited about.
- 19:03Speaker 2: We're excited.
- 19:03Speaker 5: But I think that's just our culture and I think
- 19:05Speaker 5: that's what I love about us. I think regardless of
- 19:07Speaker 5: the situation, regardless of if we were getting our rings
- 19:09Speaker 5: today or if you know it's the last day of
- 19:11Speaker 5: practice for breaking for OTAs, I think we just played
- 19:14Speaker 5: with passion and energy. We love each other, we love
- 19:16Speaker 5: coming to work. So I think any given days like
- 19:19Speaker 5: we're having those type of practices you.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Mentioned reunion, seeing some of the guys who were part
- 19:23Speaker 4: of it, but work, you know, our care now but
- 19:25Speaker 4: who I see what we're going to be bad?
- 19:26Speaker 2: But will that kind of be nice of those.
- 19:28Speaker 5: It's gonna be cool. We all understand that this is
- 19:30Speaker 5: a business and guys like come and go and that's
- 19:32Speaker 5: the nature of the league. But uh, you know, I
- 19:34Speaker 5: hit up like you know, Mafe and like Kobe Bryant,
- 19:36Speaker 5: like some of those guys. They know that they're going
- 19:37Speaker 5: to be in town for tonight ceremony. You know, we're
- 19:40Speaker 5: all excited to see them, and I'm sure it's gonna
- 19:42Speaker 5: feel like no time has passed, Like they're gonna feel
- 19:44Speaker 5: like a brother to us and feel it's gonna be
- 19:45Speaker 5: like that forever, regardless of where guys end up or
- 19:48Speaker 5: even after football.
- 19:50Speaker 1: You're through many camps, do you feel like this set
- 19:53Speaker 1: of offseason work at.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Fun It's been great, been great attendance from the leaders,
- 19:57Speaker 5: from the older guys, you know, young guys have been
- 19:59Speaker 5: working hard, like you know, trying to be sponges of
- 20:01Speaker 5: the game.
- 20:03Speaker 3: That was Leonard Williams talking about their Super Bowl rings,
- 20:06Speaker 3: and then I talked to Gray Zabel about it. That's
- 20:08Speaker 3: what he had to say.
- 20:09Speaker 7: What are you anxious most about the ring?
- 20:12Speaker 2: Wait?
- 20:13Speaker 7: Does that? What are you curious about?
- 20:15Speaker 6: I want to know if like my hand is just
- 20:17Speaker 6: going to completely fall down to my waist with how
- 20:19Speaker 6: heavy it is, a lot of people are saying it's
- 20:21Speaker 6: a big ring, but it's one of those deals. It's
- 20:23Speaker 6: it's going to be cool to celebrate kind of put
- 20:25Speaker 6: the final bow on this past season and then the
- 20:28Speaker 6: end of the day, like it's June of twenty six,
- 20:31Speaker 6: like we got to start preparing for this next year
- 20:33Speaker 6: and kind of understand we're a new team, got a
- 20:36Speaker 6: lot of new pieces, and figure out how to win
- 20:38Speaker 6: games this next year.
- 20:39Speaker 7: A couple of guys have mentioned that how much do
- 20:41Speaker 7: you guys appreciate booke nding the off season, being done
- 20:45Speaker 7: with the offseason doing the ring, And that's almost a
- 20:48Speaker 7: put it behind you launch point to what.
- 20:50Speaker 6: A better way to kind of celebrate the end of
- 20:52Speaker 6: OTA's and mini camp than than to have this kind
- 20:56Speaker 6: of party. But I know there's a lot of guys
- 20:59Speaker 6: on the team that are wishing they could come to it,
- 21:01Speaker 6: and they want to kind of get going to this
- 21:03Speaker 6: next year so we can do this all over again
- 21:05Speaker 6: next year.
- 21:06Speaker 2: But like you said, it's gonna be great.
- 21:08Speaker 6: We're gonna have a ton of fun, probably have a
- 21:10Speaker 6: few Bruce Ki's in there tonight and enjoy each other
- 21:13Speaker 6: and then, like you said, just move on.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Gray Zevel brings up a good point.
- 21:18Speaker 3: It was a weird dynamic yesterday that the player, the
- 21:21Speaker 3: new guys, the rookies, some guys they've signed, Bobby Hart
- 21:26Speaker 3: have tackled.
- 21:26Speaker 2: They just on the other day.
- 21:27Speaker 3: They didn't go last night because they weren't getting rings.
- 21:29Speaker 3: They weren't on a team last year, so it wasn't
- 21:31Speaker 3: the entire current team. And then he, as Leonard Williams mentioned,
- 21:35Speaker 3: Kobe Bryant came back, Kenneth Walker came back, Boy Mafey
- 21:39Speaker 3: came back. Terrek Wooland was there last night. I saw
- 21:42Speaker 3: on his Instagram him posting videos of getting his Super
- 21:45Speaker 3: Bowl rings. So the ones who signed elsewhere came back
- 21:48Speaker 3: to get their rings. And that was another advantage of
- 21:50Speaker 3: having it at this time of year, so the guys
- 21:51Speaker 3: could get back. It wasn't in the middle of someone
- 21:53Speaker 3: else's training camp where they'd be a little it wouldn't
- 21:57Speaker 3: be really cool to leave the new team to go
- 21:58Speaker 3: get your ring with the old team in the middle
- 22:00Speaker 3: training camp, but they could do it here. In June
- 22:03Speaker 3: four nine, four five one, the Seahawks putting it behind them.
- 22:07Speaker 3: What do you think of the timing of it. Would
- 22:10Speaker 3: you rather than do it on opening night in front
- 22:13Speaker 3: of everyone on national television. They'll raise a banner in
- 22:16Speaker 3: the stadium that night, but to get their rings to
- 22:18Speaker 3: game day. You like how they did it, Jody Allen
- 22:22Speaker 3: in one of her last attacks before they sell the team.
- 22:25Speaker 3: That sales in process. They're collecting more bidders and seeing
- 22:29Speaker 3: how high the price can get competed up with competing bids.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Up next, I see Anderson Hurst and his Stars and
- 22:35Speaker 3: Stripes is Jersey. He's going to join us next to
- 22:37Speaker 3: talk about the US and Paraguay's opening match of the
- 22:40Speaker 3: World Cup tonight right here at six o'clock on ninety
- 22:42Speaker 3: three point three eleven o'clock, John Boyle tell us what
- 22:44Speaker 3: it's like to be in the room getting a Super.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Bowl ring last night.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Seahawks writer, Seahawks employee on one of the cool experiences
- 22:50Speaker 3: of his life. That's next on ninety three point three KJRFM,
- 23:07Speaker 3: Welcome back the Greg Best Show with Christopher Kid Live
- 23:09Speaker 3: in ninety three point three k j R f M.
- 23:12Speaker 2: And it is World Cup.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Fever in the studio here because Anderson Hurst just walked
- 23:15Speaker 3: in and his Stars and Stripes Usa Jersey, Chris Kiddy hyped.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I'm okay, I.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Am Chris has been has been low key in this
- 23:26Speaker 4: from the start. Stanley Cup Finals, a World Cup. Choose
- 23:30Speaker 4: one oh two evils for hockey?
- 23:34Speaker 2: It is really hockey or soccer? Wow, I just I'm sorry.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Run around for like ninety minutes and you might score.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Hey, there's been a total of five goals in the
- 23:46Speaker 4: first No six goals, no finals.
- 23:48Speaker 2: How many games in two games? The first two games?
- 23:51Speaker 2: It's pretty good. That's hi, Chrish. That sounds like a lot.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Three red cards to that. You got entertainment, a baby,
- 23:57Speaker 2: let's go.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Three red cards in the Stecca yesterday. What I know,
- 24:04Speaker 3: you have a young child and maybe your wife. You
- 24:06Speaker 3: don't want to go in the crowds, But are you
- 24:08Speaker 3: going to go to some of the public viewings?
- 24:09Speaker 4: I think I am. I mean, this is a very
- 24:11Speaker 4: busy time for me. You know, we're just talking about that.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I got a four month old, I got you know,
- 24:15Speaker 4: obviously all this with our coverage and everything going on,
- 24:18Speaker 4: and you know, but I still want to experience it
- 24:21Speaker 4: to the fullest because you know, I'll be looking back
- 24:22Speaker 4: twenty years from now and be like, dang, the World
- 24:24Speaker 4: Cup was in the city that I was in, and
- 24:28Speaker 4: I want to experience it as much as I possibly can.
- 24:30Speaker 4: And you know, I got I got tickets to one
- 24:32Speaker 4: game and it's the round of thirty two game here
- 24:35Speaker 4: in Seattle. So I'm excited for that cost me an
- 24:38Speaker 4: arm and a leg, but you know, that's is what
- 24:40Speaker 4: it is. But no, I think I'm gonna kind of
- 24:43Speaker 4: soak it all in, try and go to as many
- 24:44Speaker 4: watch parties.
- 24:45Speaker 2: It's already crazy.
- 24:46Speaker 4: I don't know if you started to kind of have
- 24:47Speaker 4: been around the city and stuff, it's it's already kind
- 24:49Speaker 4: of I'm.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Going to Pier sixty two tonight on the barge.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Well, I'm trying to say, I it's fifty two dollars,
- 24:56Speaker 3: and as someone on the text line in two o
- 24:57Speaker 3: six pointed out, that does go to the Raive Foundation.
- 25:00Speaker 2: It's a charity event.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's not a complete swindle, right, But it's
- 25:05Speaker 3: also free to go to the pier and not on
- 25:07Speaker 3: the barge. So I'm trying to discern what's the difference
- 25:09Speaker 3: between the bars rather than being right, Yeah, yeah, I mean,
- 25:13Speaker 3: but it is for charity, so I would think it
- 25:16Speaker 3: would be a mass No, I don't think I would know.
- 25:19Speaker 3: It'd be a massive disappointment if the Americans can't win
- 25:21Speaker 3: their open or on their home source.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yes tonight Paraguay. Is that a formidable challenge?
- 25:26Speaker 4: No, I think they should win this game. I think
- 25:28Speaker 4: I said must win this morning on Chuck and Buck.
- 25:32Speaker 4: But I think, like you know, we've seen instances like
- 25:35Speaker 4: the defending champions Argentina lost their first game to Saudi
- 25:39Speaker 4: Arabia last last World Cup. So I mean you've seen
- 25:42Speaker 4: instances where they lose their first game and they figure
- 25:44Speaker 4: it out. But I just think in terms of how
- 25:46Speaker 4: much pressure is on this US team, then then compared
- 25:50Speaker 4: to years past, losing or drawing, even drawing this game
- 25:54Speaker 4: would kind of really dampen a lot of the good feelings,
- 25:57Speaker 4: I think, just but then compare that to going out
- 26:00Speaker 4: and dominating and winning a two zero, three zero game
- 26:04Speaker 4: to kind of get everyone excited, I think everyone would
- 26:06Speaker 4: start really kind of getting on board.
- 26:08Speaker 3: How is Mauricioeto Pochettino Pochettino, excuse me, the Argentine coach
- 26:14Speaker 3: change them tactically personnel wise?
- 26:16Speaker 2: High they different?
- 26:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, if you're talking specifics, he is kind
- 26:21Speaker 4: of changing the formation a little bit. I think under
- 26:23Speaker 4: Greg Burlter they were very much a four to two
- 26:25Speaker 4: three one kind of standard formation in modern soccer. Pochettino's
- 26:30Speaker 4: kind of going to a three in the back system
- 26:31Speaker 4: where you had three center backs. They play with called wingbacks,
- 26:34Speaker 4: so instead of seven quite a bit exactly. Instead of
- 26:37Speaker 4: just having like true fullbacks and then having the midfield
- 26:39Speaker 4: and the forwards very defined roles, the wing backs can
- 26:42Speaker 4: kind of get forward and be a part of the attack,
- 26:43Speaker 4: but then also help out on defense. So theoretically you're
- 26:46Speaker 4: kind of, if you execute it correctly, you have more
- 26:50Speaker 4: numbers in defense when you don't have the ball, and
- 26:53Speaker 4: then you have more numbers in offense when you do
- 26:55Speaker 4: have the ball. And then the midfield I think is
- 26:58Speaker 4: just going to be the big kind of not question mark,
- 27:01Speaker 4: because that's their most strong and dominant position, but they're
- 27:04Speaker 4: gonna have to dominate games in order for the US
- 27:06Speaker 4: to win games. So all in all, I think Pochettino
- 27:09Speaker 4: has the wherewithal to know kind of okay, this matchup
- 27:13Speaker 4: requires this type of player. I think the striking position
- 27:17Speaker 4: is going to be interesting. Ballagoon's probably the best inform
- 27:20Speaker 4: player right now, but then Hodgy Wright and Ricardo Peppy
- 27:23Speaker 4: provide something completely different. If you're going to kind of
- 27:25Speaker 4: try and desperation mode, lobbing long balls to go and
- 27:29Speaker 4: win the game late on, he's gonna be able to
- 27:33Speaker 4: make those types of tweaks. And there was like a
- 27:36Speaker 4: little screenshot during the USA's first tune up game against
- 27:42Speaker 4: Senegal where during the hydration break, Pochettino was had his
- 27:47Speaker 4: MacBook up and brought the entire team over and was
- 27:50Speaker 4: like pointing here, pointing there. Everyone's like zoned in, like okay, cool,
- 27:54Speaker 4: cool cool. I never saw that whatsoever with previous regimes,
- 27:57Speaker 4: where it's like he's he knows exactly what he wants
- 28:00Speaker 4: to do and he knows how to communicate that to
- 28:02Speaker 4: his players, and the players are bought in because they're
- 28:05Speaker 4: all playing for European teams anyway, and this guy has
- 28:07Speaker 4: the pedigree to do that. So that's the main thing
- 28:10Speaker 4: for me. He has the pedigree and kind of the
- 28:12Speaker 4: buy in from the USI players.
- 28:13Speaker 3: The keeper, you got the young guy, Matt Freeze, Would
- 28:16Speaker 3: you do Matt Turner as the veteran Yeah.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I had Dan Jackson on our Daily recap show last night.
- 28:20Speaker 4: He said it was he expects it to be Matt Freeze.
- 28:23Speaker 4: I don't think there's enough of a talent gap for me.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Matt Freeze is probably slightly in better form right now.
- 28:29Speaker 4: I would go with the guy that has proven it
- 28:32Speaker 4: on this stage before, in Matt Turner. He had a
- 28:34Speaker 4: good World Cup in twenty twenty two, made a couple
- 28:37Speaker 4: of really good saves, and he's a little bit more
- 28:40Speaker 4: of a veteran presence. I think that matters at this stage.
- 28:44Speaker 4: But I don't think you can really go wrong with
- 28:46Speaker 4: either one of them. But in terms of who I
- 28:48Speaker 4: would choose, that's where I would go.
- 28:50Speaker 2: What's a realistic ceiling for how far these guys ceiling
- 28:55Speaker 2: ceiling is?
- 28:56Speaker 4: And this isn't an expectation, this is like this could happen,
- 29:00Speaker 4: but this is best case scenario semifinals.
- 29:03Speaker 2: What's realistically going to have?
- 29:05Speaker 4: I think expectations should be round to sixteen. I think
- 29:09Speaker 4: realistically I see them going to a winning the round
- 29:12Speaker 4: of sixteen game, going to the quarterfinals, and.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Then likely Belgium in the round of six I think.
- 29:17Speaker 4: US is better than Belgium this year. Belgium's a very
- 29:20Speaker 4: aging squad. You know they have some talent for sure,
- 29:24Speaker 4: but Kevin de Bruyne is really on the last legs
- 29:26Speaker 4: of his career, you know, same with Romolu Lukaku. They
- 29:28Speaker 4: got some good wingers and Jeremy Doku who plays from
- 29:31Speaker 4: Manchester City. But I still believe the US as a
- 29:34Speaker 4: whole has a little bit more going for them, especially
- 29:37Speaker 4: being on home soil as well. So I think baseline
- 29:41Speaker 4: should be round of sixteen, you know, I think realistic
- 29:45Speaker 4: expectations should be quarterfinal and then for me, ceiling would
- 29:48Speaker 4: be a magical semifinal. Wrong, because you never know what
- 29:50Speaker 4: can happen if you get to that quarterfinal.
- 29:52Speaker 3: If Anderson Hurst is correct and they get to the semifinals,
- 29:54Speaker 3: that would be three times more knockout wins than they've
- 29:57Speaker 3: ever had. We've only had one knockout win in the
- 29:59Speaker 3: history of the World Cup. Of course, this year there's
- 30:01Speaker 3: an extra world knockout round because around of thirty two
- 30:05Speaker 3: that used to be the starting point in the tournament,
- 30:06Speaker 3: So now there's a round of thirty two that will
- 30:08Speaker 3: be in this into knockout round to get the sixteen.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I will make one slight correction. They did technically
- 30:13Speaker 4: make the semi or they were third place. Yes, nineteen
- 30:16Speaker 4: thirteen thirty which was weird.
- 30:18Speaker 2: How many were in that tournament? Not very many.
- 30:20Speaker 4: But they also made the quarterfinals in two thousand and two.
- 30:23Speaker 2: That's right.
- 30:24Speaker 4: So but it's again, it's like one of those situations
- 30:28Speaker 4: where it's a completely different you know, ballpark that we're
- 30:31Speaker 4: talking about here. In recent times, the US has always
- 30:34Speaker 4: gone out of the round of sixteen, like almost always
- 30:36Speaker 4: unless they don't go in twenty eighteen, sixteen.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Years ago today, the US tied England one one yep,
- 30:41Speaker 3: and the headline in the New York Post the next
- 30:43Speaker 3: day was US wins one one. I love that Clint
- 30:48Speaker 3: Dempsey yea being the hero of that team. We'll see
- 30:50Speaker 3: what happens that US Paraguay. It starts at six pm
- 30:53Speaker 3: right here on ninety three point three KJRV And thank
- 30:55Speaker 3: you Anderson Hurst, the busy father, Oh yes, homeowner husband
- 30:59Speaker 3: and he in his USA gear up next Seahawks. They
- 31:03Speaker 3: got their rings last night. John Boyle got a ring
- 31:06Speaker 3: last night. He was in the super duper private, ultra
- 31:08Speaker 3: fancy event. He's gonna tell us what it was like.
- 31:10Speaker 2: To be there.
- 31:11Speaker 3: How much is ring weighs? If he's ever gonna wear it?
- 31:15Speaker 3: John Boyle up next to ninety three point three kg RFM,
