Transcript
- 0:00As part of Ferrari Fridays, William Ross from the Exotic Car Marketplace
- 0:04will be discussing all things Ferrari and interviewing people that live
- 0:07and breathe the Ferrari brand.
- 0:09Topics range from road cars to racing, drivers to owners, as well
- 0:13as auctions, private sales, and trends in the collector market.
- 0:25Well, hello everyone.
- 0:26Welcome to the second episode of the Ferrari Marketplace.
- 0:31Today, we're going to talk about the Ferrari 250 GTO, you know, the, um,
- 0:37the unicorn, the, uh, quintessential Ferrari, so to speak out there in Ferrari
- 0:42world and the Ferrari marketplace, the one to own less, as long as you're a
- 0:46billionaire, but real quick, you know, sorry, it's taking a little bit to
- 0:51get the second episode up and going.
- 0:53Um, I kind of reviewed that first one and I knew that first one
- 0:55was going to be a little rough because it was the first one I did.
- 0:58So I kind of was tightening some things up and put some more things together
- 1:01to try and make this a little more fluid And sound a little bit better.
- 1:04So hopefully this one goes a little bit better.
- 1:06So but anyways, I'm wearing an upper Let's talk about the 250 GTO so 60
- 1:12years ago in 1962 the Ferrari 250 GTO was Unleashed on the world.
- 1:20Now, but the how this car came about was in prior to the, uh, you know,
- 1:2661 suit, you know, season prior net the FIA for the world championship.
- 1:31No, you could raise, you know, have actually, you know, built specifically
- 1:36sports racing prototype car to run for the world championship.
- 1:40Well, for 1962, the FIA decided.
- 1:42So you know what?
- 1:43We're going to make these a actually a homologated road going home.
- 1:46Grand touring car GT car.
- 1:48Now, those will be the ones that will only be viable for points in a championship
- 1:55So, you know Enzo saw say we need to come up with some new cars here.
- 1:59That's going to be for this So at the time the wheel in my head was a 250 SWB
- 2:05was what they kind of had that would fit the bill Well, that wasn't gonna work.
- 2:08So they needed to change it up.
- 2:09So his man.
- 2:11Mr.
- 2:11Bizzarini And I apologize if I hack up some of these names, I'm not Italian.
- 2:17So anyways, he got to work on his little skunk work, skunk works
- 2:21operation there in fried, fried Ferrari and started putting stuff together.
- 2:25Now, no rumor has it, you know, okay.
- 2:29That, you know, there was really no one specific person that was responsible
- 2:35for the body shape and designing.
- 2:38The 250 GTO now there were never any drawings done.
- 2:41Nothing put the paper.
- 2:43No schemat.
- 2:43Nothing They just kind of they put this thing together just with using their
- 2:47hands metal and just say let's just do this tweak this and Whatnot, but
- 2:52throughout the years it's kind of been I would say rumor has it or coming out
- 2:59of that possibly that actually Enzo's Uh, wind tunnel, uh, model maker guy,
- 3:05Edmondo Milimeter Casoli was actually kind of one of the major contributors
- 3:13to the shape and design of the car.
- 3:15Now, like I said, he's never really gotten direct credit, but in reading
- 3:18stuff like that and you talk to people and back then you read enough stuff, it
- 3:22seems like, it seems to be that he was.
- 3:25Like the biggest contributor to the shape and design of this car.
- 3:28Cause as you know, that shape is nice.
- 3:31It's beautiful and aerodynamic and going.
- 3:34So, Hey, someone that builds models for the wind tunnel, I guess it would
- 3:36be the man kind of, uh, would do it.
- 3:38So, but anyways, you know, um, you know, bizzarene his team and he started
- 3:43out, but as we all know, in 1961, the big old palace revolt happened and.
- 3:48Long biz arena along with, uh, other, some other top, uh, line
- 3:52engineers and conciliarities, I guess you could say, were sent packing.
- 3:56Um, they were not happy about Enzo's wife coming out on the shop
- 4:01floor and kind of telling them what to do and all this stuff.
- 4:04And they were basically like, look, either she goes or we go
- 4:06and well, I guess we know who won.
- 4:08Enzo's wife won.
- 4:09So those guys all left.
- 4:10So, it was basically kind of turned over to a 26 year old Mario Fogheri.
- 4:17And he had to pick up the pieces and kind of get moving on this and do it.
- 4:20So him and the other guys that got brought in that team that were still
- 4:24there and some new people that brought in, you know, end up, you know,
- 4:27putting this thing all back together and, you know, getting it completed.
- 4:30Um, what's kind of surprising is, you know, usually, uh, Pininfarina was the one
- 4:34that was going to be designed, especially the road cars, but, uh, they really
- 4:37had no influence or anything on this.
- 4:40Um, it was all done in house, and like I said, it was just, you know,
- 4:44hammered and welded together without a single drawing or scale model.
- 4:47Nothing was ever drawn on paper or something, so it
- 4:48was, it was pretty impressive.
- 4:50Um, so, uh, you know, as we know, designer and coach builder, you know, Sergio
- 4:54Scaglietti, you know, he, he inherited and got the final shape and tweaked
- 4:58and everything like that and going, so.
- 5:00That's who kind of got, got this thing, you know, to the finish line and
- 5:04regarding to get this thing all taken up.
- 5:07Um, kind of an interesting story regarding how the 250 GTO name came about.
- 5:14Cause as we know, that it was actually, Derived from the 250 SWB and, you
- 5:21know, and that was one thing there were 100 cars were supposed needed to be
- 5:25made to appease the FIA and doing it.
- 5:28And as we know, Enzo and his in his way was able to.
- 5:35I guess sway or, you know, get the FIA to agree.
- 5:39The fact is, well, this is just the 250 SWB with tweaks and, you know,
- 5:43changes and whatnot, you know, other competitors, other manufacturers all
- 5:46kind of livid about it, but Hey, that's the kind of power and sway he had.
- 5:50So they, um, were able to do it.
- 5:53But what happened was is when they were getting ready to, uh, when
- 5:56they did the registration for the first race, It actually got sent
- 6:00over, you know, it was official.
- 6:02It was a 250 GT competition, 62 Berlinetta, you know, or, you know,
- 6:07it became known as a Alamogado, but when it got registered, uh,
- 6:12for that first race over the United States, It was actually put down to
- 6:17paper and now it's kind of unknown.
- 6:19There's a couple different things for this, you know, um, either due to a
- 6:22kind of a language barrier because telephones back then and doing what not
- 6:26for and paperwork and not be able to understand the handwriting and what not.
- 6:29It was, it was supposed to be entered as, you know, 250GT 0, but somehow.
- 6:36So either, either there's two stories.
- 6:39One is just through subsequent, you know, um, language barriers.
- 6:44It just, they put GTO or the other story is a secretary type as whoever
- 6:50was, you know, handling all the entries and whatnot, just dropped
- 6:53a hyphen and just made a GTO.
- 6:55So there you go.
- 6:55Cause so it was never actually.
- 6:58Designated from Ferrari as 250 GTO.
- 7:02It actually became that through a clerical error or through a language barrier issue.
- 7:09So I always thought that was kind of funny and interesting
- 7:10about that, how it came about.
- 7:11And that's, you know, just a few other stories about that, how those
- 7:14cars came about and got their name.
- 7:15I mean, look at the Daytona.
- 7:17That car was never officially called the Daytona.
- 7:20from Ferrari.
- 7:21It was just because of the winning the race deal, the 24 hours of
- 7:24Daytona and it just kind of stuck.
- 7:26So anyways, but so it's got a couple of those instances in there.
- 7:28So anyways, now with that season, so what they did is
- 7:34you know, to get things moving.
- 7:35Um, there's on record, I, you know, and there's another argument that kind
- 7:39of gets Kind of tossed around and is there were some say 36 some say 39 you
- 7:46know it all depends how you look at it because The last three they kind of
- 7:49all of a sudden considered a 330 GTO because it's got the four liter engine
- 7:54And it's got the series two bodywork.
- 7:56So another say okay, and then there's the 36 that are actually true GTOs
- 8:01because they have The original three liter engine and three liter
- 8:08V12 and the original bodywork.
- 8:10Um, so, you know, it kind of, it's up in the air, you know, because like I said,
- 8:17you know, they did the, they had the series one bodywork and then they did
- 8:21the subsequent series two bodywork ones.
- 8:23And, you know, As you can tell when you look at it, you can clearly tell
- 8:27between the Series 1 and Series 2.
- 8:28The Series 2 bodywork is a lot more aerodynamic.
- 8:31It's a lot, you know, it looks more squatty.
- 8:33A little longer and a little wider.
- 8:37You know, you can definitely tell the difference between the two.
- 8:39So that's why that argument is made that some people say, well, It's not really
- 8:42a 250 GTO because it has a bigger engine a totally different body whatnot But I
- 8:46say no it is because it's basically just a continuation of it So it's you know,
- 8:50however, you want to look at it in my opinion a they're all GTOs, you know And
- 8:54they're all just absolutely gorgeous.
- 8:55So that's my opinion, you know, I said you're gonna get that argument amongst
- 8:59other people So, you know because like I said, some people say 36 some say 39
- 9:03I say 39, but hey, that's me So anyways, so right out of the gate, you know,
- 9:08these things were super competitive.
- 9:10You know, these things were doing phenomenal.
- 9:12Um, you know, solid car, very reliable.
- 9:14You know, it was very easy to drive.
- 9:16You know, it was You know, a great car to compete in.
- 9:20Cause you got to remember in back then for the world championship races, you
- 9:25know, you weren't just driving, you know, doing a 250 mile race on our
- 9:29road course or whatnot, you know, back then for the championship, you had, you
- 9:34know, endurance races, you know, you had 24 hour races, you had three hour
- 9:37races, you know, all these endurance races, you had hill climbs, um, you
- 9:40had these routes, you know, you had.
- 9:42The 10 day Tour de France race, that's your 10 days over as a whole race,
- 9:45you know, doing all these little things, you know, that, that, you
- 9:48know, if you look up the history of that race, it consisted of all these
- 9:51different, uh, recce's and whatnot, you know, that he had to do for the
- 9:55race, you know, to win the whole thing.
- 9:58So, you know, it's, it's interesting, you know, how the championship was, you
- 10:03know, I guess one, because you had to be disciplined in a lot of different
- 10:09facets of racing a car, not just, Hey, going around a track for, you
- 10:13know, two, three hours and doing it.
- 10:14So I always had great respect for those guys back then.
- 10:17That's because the fact is, that's what it is.
- 10:19I mean, you had to be, I want to say dominant, but you had to be
- 10:23pretty, pretty good in all types of all different disciplines of racing.
- 10:28So, you know, and, you know, that first year, I think it was, you know, they won.
- 10:33Uh, pretty much a majority of the races.
- 10:35So they won the championship and they went again.
- 10:37They, they actually won it in 62, 63 and 64.
- 10:42So there were three years going.
- 10:43So, but the problem is by that time, you know, in 64, the writing was coming on
- 10:47the wall because that's when old Carol Shelby came storming in with his Cobras.
- 10:51And, you know, hell bent on wanting to beat Ferrari because he just
- 10:54despised Enzo, um, and doing it.
- 10:57So actually after the 1964 season, now going to 65, yeah, they were
- 11:02all, you know, uh, still raced.
- 11:04The GTOs are still raced, but all under privateer teams, you know, Ferrari
- 11:08didn't have any more factory efforts regarding that back in the 250 GTO on
- 11:12the factory level after the 64 season and just left all the privateers and
- 11:16subsequently, you know, Carroll Shelby ended up winning and decimate, you know.
- 11:19Blowing doors off, uh, with his Daytona Coupes, um, in the 65 season.
- 11:25And, you know, those were phenomenal cars too.
- 11:27And that's a totally different podcast.
- 11:29So anyways, you know, These cars, you know, as people say,
- 11:34you know, they're not, you know, they're beautiful and whatnot.
- 11:36They're not perfect.
- 11:36They're pretty straightforward.
- 11:38I mean, if you ever look at them, they have no even, don't even
- 11:40have any side mirrors on them.
- 11:41You know, and, and, you know, like I was saying, you know, as Enzo saw
- 11:44it was, well, who cares behind you?
- 11:46I'm always going forward and I'm in first place.
- 11:48Who cares behind me?
- 11:49So anyways, none of those GTOs have any side mirrors, which I always
- 11:52find was kind of interesting.
- 11:53You know, um, so in getting to it, but, you know, so as a subsequent,
- 11:59you know, into the later sixties.
- 12:01The GTO, I mean, it was just, it was becoming a old tired racing car.
- 12:06So, I mean, obviously, you know, if someone can see the future, everyone
- 12:11would be billionaires, right?
- 12:12Um, you know, so no, one's going to think to themselves, Oh, this
- 12:15car is going to be worth, you know, 30, 40, 70 million someday.
- 12:20Um, you know, it, that doesn't enter your mind.
- 12:23You don't think you just look at it as an old tire race car.
- 12:25Now these cars were.
- 12:28You know, designed and built to be driven on the street, you know, be a street,
- 12:32you know, it's a regular driving car, daily driving car and then drive to
- 12:35the track race and drive home with it.
- 12:37Um, could you do that?
- 12:38Yeah.
- 12:38Can you drive it on the street?
- 12:39But it was a bit of a tricky wicket to drive these cars.
- 12:42No, you got to get that thing above 3, 500 RPM to really start
- 12:45getting the thing kind of moving.
- 12:47Anything below 3, 500, I mean, that thing just doesn't want to go.
- 12:49It's just like, you know, so you got to kind of get that
- 12:52thing up in the rev range.
- 12:53To really get that thing moving.
- 12:55Um, so it was a bit of a tricky weekend and said in traffic, what not overheat,
- 13:00what it needs, the airflow going to, I mean, the car was designed to be a race
- 13:04car, but for homologation reason, yeah, it was still a street car technically.
- 13:08So, but you know, you need that airflow going to the car to really
- 13:11kind of get that thing cooled down and do what it's supposed to do and
- 13:13get that thing all nice and lively.
- 13:14So a lot, not a lot of people.
- 13:19Now, I was, I think the, uh, the one person that's kind of most
- 13:22famous for driving that around is, um, uh, our old Phil Spector
- 13:26driving it around in California is well known for that and driving it
- 13:28very fast and just being an idiot.
- 13:30Um, but you know, there's really not too many stories of, you know, a lot of
- 13:36sites and what I know there's one guy, it's a movie producer that owns one
- 13:39that, you know, he ended up buying it cause he had seen it when he was young.
- 13:42And he's like, I want to buy that car, something, you know, um, you know, seeing,
- 13:45and again, it's driving on California.
- 13:47I mean, I don't know where else you might see these things back then, but anyways,
- 13:51you know, by that time though, late six or seven, I mean, these things are changing.
- 13:55I mean, there was the one instance.
- 13:56You know, the guy, you know, bought his private chair, he raced, you know,
- 13:59he bought for like 10 grand, um, you know, race that whatnot for a few years.
- 14:03And then by the time he was done, he sold for 3, 600.
- 14:06I think it was in 67 or 68, something like that, 66 maybe.
- 14:10Um, but anyways, imagine that.
- 14:12Well, of course, you know, you look at the dollar exchange, you know, okay, what 3,
- 14:15600 was back, you know, compared to today.
- 14:17So what mid twenties, maybe mid thirties.
- 14:20Would that be a rough thing?
- 14:21I mean, I don't know.
- 14:22I'm not a financial person, but anyways I mean, you know back then thirty
- 14:26six hundred bucks was still a decent amount of money But don't have shit.
- 14:29I mean ten grand was but you know, these things being I think new it or 18 grand
- 14:32technically and in dollars and cents, but You know, it just It wasn't what,
- 14:43you know, people look at it as today.
- 14:45It was just look at a tire race car So these things were trading hands, you know
- 14:49getting sold for very little money There's one that was sitting behind it was in a
- 14:55it was in a field I said, but I think it the one was it was sitting for 15 years in
- 15:02a field behind a shop class because some guy that owned it was a race car guy, you
- 15:06know racing guy And he was done with it.
- 15:08So he just donated it to the local, uh, uh, what the hell would you call it?
- 15:13Machine shop or technical school, you know, and do it and just sat back there
- 15:17forever because they really couldn't do anything with it because where
- 15:20were they going to get parts for it?
- 15:21So, but anyways, so, but anyways, subsequently, obviously it was bought
- 15:24and redone and I believe that's the one that Ralph Lauren owns, uh, was
- 15:28that one that was found in that field.
- 15:30So, um, or sat in that field for that long of time.
- 15:34So, I mean, and here's the thing is all the, all of them.
- 15:37Are accounted for and majority of them are driven and raced on regular basis
- 15:42at vintage events, which is awesome.
- 15:44I Was just down at Cavalino a few weeks back and there were three of them
- 15:49there at that show And what's awesome about Cavalino is the fact is is You
- 15:53know, a lot of these shows you go to and those kind of cars, I mean, when
- 15:56you're talking what they're worth, you know, they're behind velvet ropes.
- 15:59And so the closest you get to them is about five feet, which is awesome
- 16:03about Cavalino is they're parked there.
- 16:04You can get right up to it.
- 16:05Just look right in the windows of them, everything like that.
- 16:07And you know, when they're getting judged, they start them up.
- 16:10It's awesome.
- 16:11I got to tell you, if you get the opportunity now, tickets aren't cheap.
- 16:15It's 250 a ticket to go.
- 16:17I, if you're a Ferrari person and you love Ferraris, you need to put that on
- 16:22your bucket list of things to do is go to the Cavalino Classic down in Palm Beach.
- 16:27Um, and it's in the end of January, uh, usually is how they do it, but
- 16:32it's usually it's a four day event.
- 16:33Um, now, I mean, they have subsequent other things going on, but Saturday
- 16:37is, you know, a good day where everything's out in the field and do
- 16:39all the judging, everything like that.
- 16:40But you want to see some of the most gorgeous Ferraris you'll ever see.
- 16:43I mean, it's awesome.
- 16:44I mean, this year was great because, you know, being This is
- 16:47the 75th anniversary of Ferrari, they had one model from every year.
- 16:51Now they had, some years they had multiple models for that year.
- 16:55But, um, they had at least one model from every year.
- 16:58And there were some just absolutely drop dead gorgeous, gorgeous vehicles.
- 17:02I mean, look up online, go on there and look for videos of it.
- 17:04I got a couple real short ones on there from being there.
- 17:06Um, felt a little odd kind of trying to shoot video because you got some
- 17:11very, very High net worth individuals walking around and I wasn't sure about
- 17:16people wanting to be on film or not So and I don't want to have to go.
- 17:18Hey, can you sign off this you okay with this?
- 17:20You know, so I didn't want to bother with that.
- 17:21So I only did a couple real quick ones But anyways, so obviously as time passes
- 17:27on and get going, you know, these things start creasing in value and You know
- 17:32going up and the prices start getting up there like in the 80s You know people
- 17:38start paying more and more for these cars And getting up there and, you know,
- 17:43first to say, all right, first time it breaks, you know, a million dollars.
- 17:47And then I think the one was it sold for like a, back then I think
- 17:52it was 80 something, can't remember exact, um, I can't read my own notes.
- 17:57Um, it was, you know, sold for about a million dollars and two
- 18:03years later they sold for like 4.
- 18:042.
- 18:05So, and this was in the late 80s, mid to late 80s, um, and then as I was
- 18:08subsequently starts going up because it's kind of one of those deals, you
- 18:11know, something starts going that the marketplace can start dictating it.
- 18:13So all of a sudden, Oh, it sells for that.
- 18:15Okay.
- 18:16So the one I own should sell for that.
- 18:18Now here's the one thing about the cars.
- 18:19Now, a lot of them have, you know, different histories to them, uh, and
- 18:23whatnot, you know, um, accidents, crashing, everything like that.
- 18:28Now like the one.
- 18:29You know, so far, the highest sale won that went to our man, Mr.
- 18:33McNeil, that owns WeatherTech, you know, so rumor has it, and he's never
- 18:36confirmed it or denied it, that, you know, he paid 70 million for his back
- 18:39in 2018 in a private sale, but now his had Le Mans history, and, uh, I mean,
- 18:45I think it was, you know, unmolested, you know, I think it never, no accident
- 18:48damage, I mean, you might have some little things, things here, but never,
- 18:52like, any structural, like, huge crashes, um, cause you got quite a few
- 18:55out there, and these were race cars.
- 18:57So, um, yeah.
- 18:57You know, they were raised hard and, you know, they're going to subsequently
- 19:00have damage to them and it's going to happen, you know, so there's some out
- 19:05there that aren't worth quite as much and there's the one that sold was a 26 or,
- 19:13uh, was it the one just sold recently?
- 19:15I think it was like for one for 40 some million, but that was
- 19:18at the auction at Sotheby's.
- 19:20I think it was Sotheby's or Gooding, one of the two.
- 19:24Actually, the person who drove it was killed in it.
- 19:26So it's actually kind of got that kind of history and it was banged up pretty good.
- 19:29Um, but still, you know, it still went for quite a bit of money.
- 19:33Um, so it really doesn't deter people, but you know, it gets you in that club.
- 19:37Cause you have quite a few of the owners of these have owned them
- 19:39for quite a lengthy period of time.
- 19:42Um, you know, it's, they.
- 19:46I mean, obviously they, they love the car.
- 19:48They love what it does and what it is.
- 19:49And, you know, and there's numerous, numerous private events just for the
- 19:54GTO owners that go on throughout the years, um, here and there that, you
- 19:58know, it's a, to go to it, you got to own a 250 GTO, so, you know, you
- 20:03got these real, you know, obviously upscale private, you know, very private.
- 20:07And if you're a member of that club, Hey, you know, kudos to you.
- 20:11So obviously you were doing something right in life or as.
- 20:14Subsequently, some of these people that have bought them, um, were,
- 20:17have born into the ripe gene pool.
- 20:19Um, so anyways, my thoughts on this, you know, I mean, I
- 20:27love the car and like that.
- 20:28I mean, you know, they're trying to, they're, they're saying that
- 20:32it's more than likely, you know, and how long whatnot, but these will
- 20:36be a hundred million dollar cars.
- 20:39That's what the rumor is.
- 20:40That's what people are saying.
- 20:41They're saying, you know, how long would it be in 10 years, 20 years?
- 20:44Who knows?
- 20:45Um, you know, it's getting to the point, though, it's going to be interesting
- 20:49because quite a few of the owners, especially long term owners that have
- 20:53had them, they're, you know, up there in age, and with what's going on regarding,
- 20:58you know, estate, tax, all that kind of stuff, when you pass these things on,
- 21:03you know, the family members, you know, unless it's, you know, a hugely wealthy
- 21:07family, just they can't absorb, you know, the, uh, Inheritance tax, estate
- 21:13tax, what have you, however it goes.
- 21:15I mean, I know these people, they got ways to work around it.
- 21:18They set up these trusts and do all that kind of crap, but some of these people
- 21:21just might not be able to keep it just because they just, they can't afford it.
- 21:25So they turn around and they have to sell it.
- 21:27And then a nice amount of the money, you know, obviously goes to pay taxes.
- 21:31So, which kind of sucks.
- 21:32So it's going to be interesting though, because as I said, there's quite a
- 21:34few, um, owners that are getting to the stage in life that, You know, they're
- 21:39going to be passing on, and so it's going to see if they come to market, if
- 21:44they stay in the family, or if the kids get it, and then they just do sell it.
- 21:47Because you see that quite a bit in this market, um, you know, not
- 21:51just in Ferraris, but in any kind of collector car, hyper car marketplace
- 21:55that, um, is the younger generations.
- 21:57They're just not into cars.
- 21:59You know, you have a lot of these gentlemen, they have these
- 22:01great collections and whatnot.
- 22:02And the family, the kids, the younger generation, they
- 22:05want nothing to do with it.
- 22:06So they've got to figure out what to do with this stuff.
- 22:08So, it'll be interesting to see what happens here the next, say, 5 to 10 years
- 22:12with some of these, like I said, some of these people are getting up there in age.
- 22:16Um, it's going to be, it's going to be an interesting out in the marketplace to see
- 22:19what happens to see how this comes about.
- 22:21So I'm very curious to see what plays out.
- 22:24So, but I think I kind of want to mention the one probably, I don't want to say
- 22:29he's most famous, but one of my most favorite guys that owns one of these is
- 22:33our man, the drummer from Pink Floyd, Mr.
- 22:37Mason.
- 22:38Um.
- 22:39He's owned it since 78.
- 22:41And there's a, there's a great story behind his is when they're 86, 87, when
- 22:46they were going to, you know, obviously come back and go back on tour, they
- 22:51need to come up with the money for it.
- 22:52And he actually put up his GTO as collateral to the bank so they could get
- 22:57the money, you know, the money needed up front to get the tour up and going.
- 23:01So he actually put it up as collateral for that.
- 23:03That's awesome.
- 23:04Um, that shows you what the values back then and how they looked at it.
- 23:06So that was able to get them up and going and get what they needed to do.
- 23:09But he races his all the time.
- 23:12He's very, very active in the Ferrari world with his GTO.
- 23:16And there's a great video that came out just a little bit ago.
- 23:19Um, You know, I don't know if you've ever seen it, but you know,
- 23:22a kid in a candy shop, a kid in a sweet shop, something like that.
- 23:25It was a Jody kid.
- 23:26She has her own, you know, YouTube channel that she does and she
- 23:29goes around and talks to people.
- 23:30But she went and saw and what was awesome, it wasn't Nick himself, it was his wife
- 23:34that she actually went and she met with.
- 23:36And then, uh, she took the, Nick's wife took the GTO out and And Jody took out,
- 23:42uh, 250 SWB, I think it was, uh, and they follow each other, went so ahead.
- 23:46But I thought it was awesome.
- 23:47And tell you what, she tore it.
- 23:49She's a, she's a heck of a racer herself in her own right.
- 23:51I mean, she can, she can put it to it.
- 23:53So kudos to her.
- 23:54I love, I love seeing that, um, seeing that it's involved.
- 23:57And I know his kids, you know, get involved too, big time and with
- 23:59doing all historic racing and that, cause he's got several other cars
- 24:02that he also owns, um, in that.
- 24:04So kudos to him.
- 24:06But anyways.
- 24:07Anyways.
- 24:08It kind of gives you a, uh, kind of a brief synopsis of my thoughts and
- 24:11everything in history on the GTO.
- 24:13And I think, you know, where things might be going.
- 24:16Um, I'm sure I could probably talk for hours on this if I get something
- 24:18else, you know, talking about it.
- 24:20We could talk forever on these things and all the stories and everything about it.
- 24:24But I just kind of wanted to get into a little brief, brief on it.
- 24:26Just kind of thing just because, hey, it's the 60th anniversary of
- 24:29it getting, uh, unleashed, unleashed out onto the world, into the racing
- 24:33world and history being made.
- 24:35So that's what I wanted to talk about.
- 24:37So, hey guys, I really appreciate it.
- 24:39And again, Uh, you know, I'm saying I'm trying to get the hang of
- 24:42this and getting these things put together correctly in these podcasts.
- 24:45So my apologizes, he's being a little rough and maybe my talking
- 24:49not as smooth as it needs to be.
- 24:51Um, and doing some homes a lot and stuff like that.
- 24:53So I'm, I'm working on it.
- 24:54So you gotta give me a little time.
- 24:55So, but again, Hey, I appreciate you guys listening and take care and stay safe.
