- 0:05Carmen Hecox: I am Carmen Hecox, your host and personal developing coach.
- 0:09Carmen Hecox: And today's guest is Simone Bueno.
- 0:13Carmen Hecox: Simone is originally from Brazil.
- 0:15Carmen Hecox: She has lived in Argentina, New York City, and is now settled in sunny Florida.
- 0:22Carmen Hecox: She is a proud mother of two amazing creative children who continue to inspire her to stay creative.
- 0:29Carmen Hecox: Simone has over 15 years of experience as an independent filmmaker working on various projects in pre and post production, cinematography, and color grading.
- 0:43Carmen Hecox: In 2020, Simone shifted her focus in filmmaking and cinematography to help women business owners create a more intimate connection with their audience by sharing a deeper connection of their business and the woman behind the brand through video recording and social media.
- 1:04Carmen Hecox: Simone is sharing her 20 plus years of web design, filmmaking, cinematography with women just like you and me.
- 1:12Carmen Hecox: So without further ado, let's dig into the conversation now.
- 1:16Carmen Hecox: Simone Bueno, welcome to Create The Best Me.
- 1:21Carmen Hecox: I am so glad to have you on the show.
- 1:24Simone Bueno: Oh, so happy to be here, Carmen.
- 1:26Simone Bueno: Thanks for inviting me.
- 1:28Carmen Hecox: Hey, before we get into our discussion, can you tell the audience a little bit about who you are and what you do?
- 1:37Simone Bueno: All.
- 1:37Simone Bueno: So I'm almost 50, so I'm not that young that's just did one thing.
- 1:43Simone Bueno: So I have a long, uh, story I think, but I'm going to focus on what we're going to be talking today, about stories.
- 1:49Simone Bueno: So, just a little bit of my background.
- 1:51Simone Bueno: I have over 25 years of web development experience.
- 1:56Simone Bueno: But around 15 years ago, I got introduced to filmmaking, independent filmmaking.
- 2:03Simone Bueno: That's when I really grew a passion for me on video.
- 2:06Simone Bueno: I first started working more on the background, pre production and post production of independent film.
- 2:12Simone Bueno: And in 2013, my ex husband, my kid's dad, he invited me.
- 2:16Simone Bueno: Well, we were pre producing, a film, a feature comedy, and then we have everything set up, all the schedules, everything.
- 2:24Simone Bueno: And the cinematographer fell out of the project.
- 2:27Simone Bueno: And then we spoke about, because I already had passion for photography, I had a course in photography and I was doing these home videos.
- 2:34Simone Bueno: So I said, well, maybe we were in New York at the time, but there was a lot of access for courses and workshop.
- 2:41Simone Bueno: And then we found there was a Chris Buono, there was the cinematography for Saturday Night Live.
- 2:45Simone Bueno: Uh, he would do the short films for the comedy show, and he was doing a workshop.
- 2:49Simone Bueno: So, okay, we just jump in the conclusion that I'll be fit to do the course, the workshop, and then I'll be the cinematographer for the film.
- 2:57Simone Bueno: So I did that, and going there on the camera and seeing even there were actors.
- 3:03Simone Bueno: I understood at the time, how can you be just being yourself and suddenly you get into this, character or something and you bring life.
- 3:11Simone Bueno: And how, when you see, like I was the first seeing them on camera and seeing how much they could, share the passion of their story on the camera.
- 3:20Simone Bueno: Going forward, really fast forward, like two years ago, three years ago, during the pandemic, when we moved to Florida, I started wanting to work with local business, mom owned business to help them share their stories, how, they will be, you know, involved, how they can be working moms and running a business.
- 3:38Simone Bueno: Then the pandemic came.
- 3:39Simone Bueno: And I was like, wow, how I can, you know, still do that.
- 3:42Simone Bueno: So I started going on Instagram.
- 3:44Simone Bueno: I had this, account called mom is not for sale.
- 3:47Simone Bueno: And I'll be talking how, you know, encouraging mom to share stories, to share experiences.
- 3:53Simone Bueno: But then I realized I wasn't doing that.
- 3:56Simone Bueno: I wasn't going on camera and sharing little things.
- 4:00Simone Bueno: So then I realized, okay, I have to do that.
- 4:02Simone Bueno: So then I step into the role that I was asking everybody to do.
- 4:06Simone Bueno: And I started going on video and sharing in a way, or even just putting my voice there.
- 4:12Simone Bueno: It started with the courage, like positive messages and little things and saying how, we can share our experience.
- 4:18Simone Bueno: And then by doing that, I understood how I can teach someone else.
- 4:24Simone Bueno: Getting to the step that I was at the moment, already being confident in front of the camera.
- 4:28Simone Bueno: Because when I was behind the camera, I would see different.
- 4:31Simone Bueno: These stories, but when I was in front, I have to be this one sharing this energy, sharing this message.
- 4:37Simone Bueno: And we can not just be bland and talking about the things that we love without, bringing some extra energy and some confidence on camera.
- 4:46Simone Bueno: So that's when I started doing one-on-one training on video, on presenting ourselves on camera and also teaching people how with simple steps you can edit your video.
- 4:57Simone Bueno: And make it better when people watch it.
- 4:59Simone Bueno: It's just not that long message, tired, all linear.
- 5:04Simone Bueno: So little things, so it goes, um, my training goes from being able to have this confidence to show on camera, to be able to edit the video yourself and make it interesting so people want to watch it.
- 5:15Carmen Hecox: That's very impressive because you took it from the professional perspective where you're behind the scenes, you're looking through the camera, you know what a cinematographer is looking for.
- 5:28Carmen Hecox: So, you know that perspective, but when you decided If I'm going to encourage women to do this, I got to lead by example.
- 5:37Carmen Hecox: And so I find that very, humbling.
- 5:41Simone Bueno: Yeah, and also because what I saw, why I wasn't showing up on camera, I started thinking why I wasn't doing that.
- 5:48Simone Bueno: Because I was judging myself in a way that other people wouldn't.
- 5:52Simone Bueno: I was just like, Oh, I have too much accent.
- 5:55Simone Bueno: And I'm from Brazil.
- 5:57Simone Bueno: So then I was like, Oh, people, when they say from Brazil, they expect to be this more Latina look and I'm blonde, I'm light skin.
- 6:05Simone Bueno: So they're like, Oh, I'm Latina, but not too Latina.
- 6:08Simone Bueno: I have accent, but not too much accent.
- 6:09Simone Bueno: So all of these things like, Oh, how am I going to present?
- 6:12Simone Bueno: So it's like.
- 6:13Simone Bueno: So growing into that and just accepting.
- 6:18Simone Bueno: Also, I did something, Carmen that really I encourage people to do regardless.
- 6:24Simone Bueno: It's adding caption to your videos because we all have accents.
- 6:28Simone Bueno: You have your speaking and you are American, but you have your own accent and then you go, Texas some people, some sound different and you go Ohio or Michigan, like we all have different access.
- 6:37Simone Bueno: But once also I start putting caption on my videos, I notice, I say the words.
- 6:43Simone Bueno: So people can't understand me because AI that was generating the captions weren't getting my words right, like 99%.
- 6:50Simone Bueno: I just have to tweak a little bit.
- 6:52Simone Bueno: Some of the words that, you know, wasn't correct.
- 6:55Simone Bueno: But also made me slow down when I talk and make me, made me kind of learn to pronounce better the words.
- 7:03Simone Bueno: So also I can be more understood by other people, because I tend to talk faster too.
- 7:08Simone Bueno: So then you kind of slow down, you bring this presence in a way, and sharing the messages still, you know, so it's lots of little things that you learn, and now I can teach people how to get better this little package.
- 7:21Carmen Hecox: Well, as far as accents, let me just add this in here Sofia Vergara and Salma Hayek, they have accents and they are beautiful, sexy women.
- 7:32Carmen Hecox: I think that a lot of people listen to that accent and it brings life to the character because, adds spice.
- 7:38Simone Bueno: It's the personality.
- 7:39Carmen Hecox: So don't down your accent, girl.
- 7:41Carmen Hecox: I think it's beautiful.
- 7:42Carmen Hecox: And as far as your age, you are a beautiful almost 50.
- 7:47Simone Bueno: Thank you.
- 7:49Carmen Hecox: So being a mom myself and being someone who I'm going to be real honest, getting in front of a camera is very challenging because I'm not the kind of girl that takes selfies.
- 7:59Carmen Hecox: I've never been the kind of girl take selfies.
- 8:02Carmen Hecox: And I've also been the kind of woman that I put on my makeup in the morning and I never touch it up.
- 8:08Carmen Hecox: Because it's just not me so There's a lot of vulnerability in getting in front of a camera.
- 8:15Carmen Hecox: So tell me, because coming from someone who's a little shy of getting in front of a camera, how do you make women feel confident in front of the camera?
- 8:23Simone Bueno: Yes.
- 8:24Simone Bueno: So it's a lot of mindset work and a self talk because it's not just about, in front of the camera, because when we think about it from the camera, Oh my gosh, the whole world is seeing me.
- 8:37Simone Bueno: And it's still don't know because maybe you have a big account.
- 8:40Simone Bueno: If you're showing up for your business that are usually a work of people with business.
- 8:45Simone Bueno: When I do the training, I really work.
- 8:47Simone Bueno: I start, like I have a three main steps that I go through my training.
- 8:51Simone Bueno: The first one, it's self confidence.
- 8:54Simone Bueno: And it's not only self confidence on camera.
- 8:57Simone Bueno: It's about feeling good about yourself, feeling good about your own features.
- 9:02Simone Bueno: So one thing that I was being judgmental about my, features is like, I have a big nose.
- 9:09Simone Bueno: And it was like, I always show more on camera.
- 9:12Simone Bueno: So my crook teeth.
- 9:13Simone Bueno: So I always think that we are seen and I just got to think about, look at myself, I see what I like the most.
- 9:21Simone Bueno: So I, when, when I tell this women, I did that workshop and it was like with them, like, that's a training that you need to start doing, like, just look at yourself in the mirror and there's something that always you like better than something else, like you might like better your, your lips or your eyes or your nose.
- 9:38Simone Bueno: So whatever is the feature that you have.
- 9:40Simone Bueno: The face that shows the most, focus on that.
- 9:43Simone Bueno: Maybe you add a little extra makeup on your eyes.
- 9:46Simone Bueno: Also don't follow trends.
- 9:48Simone Bueno: Like I don't see myself wearing these big lashes.
- 9:51Simone Bueno: And even the filters, the filters from this apps, I tried just like I would use some of them on the stories, Instagram stories that they have the same kind of, filters and I'm like, ah, this doesn't look like me.
- 10:04Simone Bueno: So when you have this practice before coming to camera and you start liking yourself.
- 10:09Simone Bueno: You start liking, that's the way you are.
- 10:11Simone Bueno: And that's the way you need to show up because nobody else has exactly the same crooked tooth that I have or the nose or my eyes.
- 10:18Simone Bueno: So I don't see myself wearing this big red, like bright red, lipsticks because I don't see myself well on those.
- 10:26Simone Bueno: But I like to wear, makeup, mascara on my eyelashes.
- 10:29Simone Bueno: So I always go with something that I feel good outside of the camera.
- 10:34Simone Bueno: Because it's something that you're not doing outside the camera.
- 10:35Simone Bueno: Why are you going to do this all extra?
- 10:38Simone Bueno: And then you're not going to feel yourself because when you feel yourself, you're going to bring your message more authentic to the camera.
- 10:44Simone Bueno: You're going to be, because that's how you talk.
- 10:46Simone Bueno: That's how you, you're not going to be, Oh, is my eyelashes falling?
- 10:50Simone Bueno: Is my red lipstick, like, you know, coming out of my lips.
- 10:53Simone Bueno: You're going to be start worrying about things that usually you don't worry about.
- 10:56Simone Bueno: So always go to the mirror and do this exercise.
- 10:59Simone Bueno: See things that you like and then you go to the next step.
- 11:04Simone Bueno: What else can you make you look better on camera or in a picture or going out?
- 11:09Simone Bueno: What do you do?
- 11:09Simone Bueno: You wear some earrings.
- 11:11Simone Bueno: You wear a color that you feel comfortable with.
- 11:14Simone Bueno: So it's the same practice that you do for camera.
- 11:17Simone Bueno: Find your colors, find the nuances that looks better with your skin, with your skin.
- 11:21Simone Bueno: And you have this outside of your home, on online, on internet.
- 11:26Simone Bueno: Many resources where you can find people helping you to find what works better for you.
- 11:31Simone Bueno: For many years, I didn't like yellow.
- 11:33Simone Bueno: Growing up, like I was a young teenager, I would tell my mom, or even younger than like, I don't like my hair.
- 11:38Simone Bueno: My hair is yellow.
- 11:40Simone Bueno: Like I would change the color of my hair because things that we think doesn't look good.
- 11:44Simone Bueno: And it's sort of like, I love the color of my hair.
- 11:46Simone Bueno: I just find that yellow looks good on me.
- 11:49Simone Bueno: And I, I made it my brand.
- 11:51Simone Bueno: Also because Brazil is, green and yellow, so I tried to pop green in there, but like yellow about bring this positive energy and things that I, teach about on camera.
- 12:01Simone Bueno: So I found yellow works for me.
- 12:03Simone Bueno: So find your color, find things that resonates with your message too.
- 12:07Simone Bueno: So if you already have a personal brand, but you still, you feel off about it, maybe it's the color.
- 12:13Simone Bueno: Maybe you need to rebrand your personal brand or your business because the color is not transmitted the same message.
- 12:20Simone Bueno: I have an example on branding.
- 12:22Simone Bueno: That is the Chocolate Milka.
- 12:24Simone Bueno: We all knew all chocolates look brown, brown or white for the chocolate.
- 12:28Simone Bueno: And Milka suddenly brought the purple.
- 12:31Simone Bueno: And it works because it works for the brand.
- 12:33Simone Bueno: So the brand pops up.
- 12:35Simone Bueno: So sometimes you just need to break the normal and bring into this energy or message that you want to share.
- 12:42Simone Bueno: So, and then the next step that we go with the training and how you present yourself, your figure, your framing.
- 12:49Simone Bueno: Because you cannot be just launching down, or, not putting your, nice posture, your shoulders up.
- 12:56Simone Bueno: So your head, everything transmits energy.
- 12:59Simone Bueno: So the way you're putting your head, so if it's down and you look like this, I'm talking, some people might just be listening, but like, if I'm going to put my head down and just looking up, I'm going to share different energy.
- 13:10Simone Bueno: If I keep my head straight and look straight at the camera.
- 13:14Simone Bueno: And the same thing when you talk to the camera, don't look down at yourself.
- 13:18Simone Bueno: Don't look how you are looking, don't look at your clothes, because that's how you're going to direct people's eyes.
- 13:24Simone Bueno: Because your eyes are going to be there and that's how they're going to see.
- 13:27Simone Bueno: I know it takes a little while for us to get used to, but even on the computer there's a green light, or red sometimes, that shows where the camera is.
- 13:35Simone Bueno: So look at the light.
- 13:37Simone Bueno: On your cell phone if you're using the selfie mode, also had the little light show you where the camera is.
- 13:42Simone Bueno: So look at the light, look for the light.
- 13:45Simone Bueno: Or if you're using the, this back of the camera, look where the little lines of the camera is.
- 13:51Simone Bueno: So then you're going to feel like you're looking at someone.
- 13:53Simone Bueno: I know.
- 13:54Simone Bueno: It takes practices.
- 13:55Simone Bueno: I still feel weird sometimes just doing this the way I'm doing right now.
- 13:58Simone Bueno: So instead of I'm looking at Carmen if I look like this and we're gonna have this video on YouTube, my head is going to be sideways and my eyes gonna be sideways.
- 14:06Simone Bueno: So you're not going to really gonna be connected with me the same way if I'm just looking here at the camera and talking to you right now.
- 14:13Simone Bueno: So you're gonna feel the autumn telling you about sharing your story and experiences.
- 14:18Simone Bueno: You're going to feel more connected to my message.
- 14:21Carmen Hecox: So basically, what you're doing is you are explaining to women that, they know their message.
- 14:27Carmen Hecox: They know their message in and out, and they're confident in their message, but they're not confident in the way they appear on camera.
- 14:35Carmen Hecox: And so they need to fix their mind, get it out of whatever it is, my nose, my lips, my clothes, my hair.
- 14:42Carmen Hecox: And focus more on talking one on one, looking right at you like I'm looking right at you right now.
- 14:48Carmen Hecox: And relaying the message, feeling confident in the message.
- 14:53Carmen Hecox: And if I don't feel comfortable about something within myself, maybe something that I do like about myself because I get a lot of compliments is my hair.
- 15:01Carmen Hecox: And so I focus on, I got some rocking hair because everybody likes my hair.
- 15:06Carmen Hecox: And so admire the one thing about myself and feel confident in that.
- 15:11Carmen Hecox: And that confident will, come out within the message.
- 15:16Simone Bueno: That's correct, But like in putting together also the little tweaking on the posture on the clothing.
- 15:22Simone Bueno: Because if you're just going to be on your like ragged shirt and then you're going to, you still can share your message, but it's not going to be aligned with your business.
- 15:32Simone Bueno: It's not going to be aligned with your brand.
- 15:34Simone Bueno: So you want everything to kind of even out.
- 15:37Simone Bueno: You don't want to bring like, you, you're ragged and you're just going to be talking with your kid at bedtime.
- 15:43Simone Bueno: Just want to present yourself nice on camera.
- 15:46Simone Bueno: But also, Carmen, I encourage that's yes, when you're talking about your product, about your business, about whatever your service, but I also encourage to bring this ragged shirt.
- 15:57Simone Bueno: And sometimes just putting in between your message, a little thing about your personal life so people can relate to.
- 16:04Simone Bueno: People can find, oh, she's real she's not always well dressed, makeup and hair.
- 16:09Simone Bueno: If it's the only way you feel good about showing up on camera, that's fine.
- 16:13Simone Bueno: But sometimes maybe share a more relaxed message, being into this, makeup and clothes that you feel more comfortable showing up on camera.
- 16:21Simone Bueno: But sometimes it just feels something that you'd like to share.
- 16:24Simone Bueno: A personal experience that you just had or something that relates to your family or a friend and you want to share at the moment, sometimes you just need that energy for that moment.
- 16:34Simone Bueno: And some people say, wow.
- 16:36Simone Bueno: Or they're going to be just walk on the street and something happened to them like, ah, the message that Carmen shared with me that day about something that happened to her.
- 16:45Simone Bueno: I'm going to go check her podcast because she tells me, she told that she shares stories, she talks with moms and podcasts and talks about confidence and how to be, good in her skin and, you know, after fifties.
- 16:57Simone Bueno: So I want to know more about that.
- 16:58Simone Bueno: I know I want to more know more about other moms.
- 17:01Simone Bueno: So whatever you do with maybe not related to a business message, might guide somebody else to connect with you and then find you through that.
- 17:10Carmen Hecox: I want to go back to something I remember you and I we had a planning session before we actually, scheduled this recording.
- 17:17Carmen Hecox: You shared with me, and it was about leading by example that you started to post, videos that were about Simone.
- 17:25Carmen Hecox: About Simone, and your interactions with your family and stuff, and that those videos went viral.
- 17:31Carmen Hecox: Talk a little bit more about that.
- 17:33Simone Bueno: Well, actually, no, when I started.
- 17:36Simone Bueno: When I teach my workshop, I get my first live feed because I said, I going to go live because I'm a filmmaker.
- 17:42Simone Bueno: I want to get.
- 17:43Simone Bueno: Perfect lining.
- 17:44Simone Bueno: I want to get perfect everything.
- 17:46Simone Bueno: And then I would take forever.
- 17:47Simone Bueno: I won't do it.
- 17:48Simone Bueno: So what I teach is sometimes the little thing, the basic.
- 17:52Simone Bueno: You can get this message out.
- 17:54Simone Bueno: So what I started to say, okay, I have a message.
- 17:57Simone Bueno: I want to encourage women, moms to share the journey, to share, to incorporate in the business.
- 18:02Simone Bueno: Sharing about how they got there.
- 18:04Simone Bueno: Because I was listening to Lewis Howes interview on this big personalities, big entrepreneurs.
- 18:09Simone Bueno: It's like what about some, many stories, beautiful, beautiful, great stories.
- 18:14Simone Bueno: But there's still such a higher level than my current stories, like that I wanted to find a story more related to me.
- 18:22Simone Bueno: So I said, well, maybe if I encourage people on the same level that I am in my life right now, I can find more people related.
- 18:29Simone Bueno: So I was trying to get this, to reach these people, the way you are doing, you know, and maybe one day you get to be interviewed with Lewis Howes, who's said no.
- 18:37Simone Bueno: So that's what we're doing, reaching these people.
- 18:39Simone Bueno: And then we're growing because everybody has such a beautiful stories that I was just like, we're going through the pandemic and I was like, Oh my gosh, there's so many moms they're living through this in a such hard way.
- 18:50Simone Bueno: I want to hear her stories.
- 18:52Simone Bueno: So anyway, I went on camera and I cringe when I see those videos and I was like, this is not working.
- 18:59Simone Bueno: So I started with a program that we met that's Social Curator.
- 19:02Simone Bueno: And then there were all this campaign about doing transition, doing pointing videos, about talking our business.
- 19:08Simone Bueno: And I did those videos like, still not me.
- 19:10Simone Bueno: And something not right about this.
- 19:12Simone Bueno: And then I was trying to find myself.
- 19:14Simone Bueno: I was trying to find my messages.
- 19:15Simone Bueno: Like, well, my message is about showing up on camera.
- 19:19Simone Bueno: And just be well presented and sharing the message.
- 19:22Simone Bueno: So I started practicing doing that and then that worked.
- 19:25Simone Bueno: And then I felt good about seeing my videos.
- 19:27Simone Bueno: I felt good.
- 19:28Simone Bueno: So we need to practice, find what works for us.
- 19:31Simone Bueno: And then I start saying how incorporating this and sharing little bits of our personal story, the way I just told you now.
- 19:38Simone Bueno: Maybe you had on the ragged shirt and you have something to share, a little bit of the journey.
- 19:42Simone Bueno: And it works.
- 19:43Simone Bueno: So, for me, about doing this, presenting myself on camera and just showing up direct on camera.
- 19:50Simone Bueno: And getting these bite sized actions that incorporated into my branding, into my account, little things of my journey, my habits.
- 19:59Simone Bueno: I ended up having last week, so it's very recent, a video that went viral and over a million views.
- 20:05Simone Bueno: And it's something that I never dreamed of.
- 20:07Simone Bueno: I was like, I, my message is about bite size.
- 20:10Simone Bueno: About reaching one person that you can impact with your story and having the video being seen, my face, and it's my face.
- 20:17Simone Bueno: I'm not talking on the video, but it's my face.
- 20:19Simone Bueno: And the messages of the video is about how we can create habits with little things.
- 20:25Simone Bueno: And that message reached these people.
- 20:28Simone Bueno: And from that video, I was just, I'm editing a video about getting some feedback that I like to share on my account about how steps that I take the same way I teach on video say, well, I'm growing, it's a very small business and I'm growing, so I want to share, maybe somebody else is going to be inspired to do this or that.
- 20:44Simone Bueno: So I'm doing this video sharing.
- 20:46Simone Bueno: Okay, what I think it worked, what happened that it went viral?
- 20:50Simone Bueno: Because if I haven't taken these small actions, wouldn't I've reached these people on this channel that reached almost 1 million people.
- 20:58Simone Bueno: So when you go, be aware of what is available for you and what you can do.
- 21:04Simone Bueno: So one million people not going to be my, clients or gonna be, talking or gonna be connected with me.
- 21:10Simone Bueno: Not going to be my friends.
- 21:12Simone Bueno: But out of the Instagram account, 20 people, they, start following me through that video.
- 21:18Simone Bueno: So.
- 21:18Simone Bueno: 20 people, they saw that I don't only share about my personal habits.
- 21:24Simone Bueno: They share about video confidence and then they made them interested about my account.
- 21:29Simone Bueno: So that's what I said, my personal, journey, my personal story about things that I'm doing, getting to 50.
- 21:34Simone Bueno: And that's what is the video is about made this person connect with my business, journey too.
- 21:40Simone Bueno: So that's how it's important for us to be open, to share that too.
- 21:44Simone Bueno: Not only talking about business, posting about business, having this that's how we create genuine connection Carmen, because we share little bites of our life.
- 21:53Simone Bueno: When we get to to the online life, because, you know, that's the online life that people are seeing us.
- 21:57Simone Bueno: We cannot share a hundred percent and also share what you feel comfortable with.
- 22:01Simone Bueno: Don't go sharing, you know, like any weird stuff that was like, oh my gosh I have that, and that went viral.
- 22:06Simone Bueno: And you want to hate yourself for that.
- 22:08Simone Bueno: No, share things that you're going to it's okay it's not my best video Seriously, I I remix with a video that I have done and I showed my progress over three months and I just I just going to post it.
- 22:17Simone Bueno: It was a Sunday morning it was a quick video.
- 22:20Simone Bueno: I work a little bit on the caption to share the message I wanted to share and it happened two days was almost a million and now it's a little over 1 million views.
- 22:28Carmen Hecox: That's crazy.
- 22:28Carmen Hecox: But I think what's real important here is that you pointed out that sometimes you might see the trend that is working for others and it works for them because it aligns with their brand or it's authentic to them, but don't follow the trends.
- 22:42Carmen Hecox: Find something that is more in line with your brand and is going to make you feel natural to where you're feeling that confidence to share the message.
- 22:52Carmen Hecox: The main thing is the message that you are trying to convey to touch other people.
- 23:00Simone Bueno: Yes Yes, that's correct.
- 23:02Simone Bueno: Because if you follow, like when I was trying to follow the trends, I was like, I'll work with them.
- 23:05Simone Bueno: I have a video that I shared that I compared the things that I was doing about going live and then doing the trends.
- 23:12Simone Bueno: And then the video was like a little dance, a little parts like I love to dance.
- 23:16Simone Bueno: I'm from Brazil.
- 23:16Simone Bueno: I love music.
- 23:17Simone Bueno: I do dance party in the kitchen with my kids, but something I don't like to show.
- 23:22Simone Bueno: So that video, it is cringe, but I left online because there are lessons.
- 23:27Simone Bueno: And then when I shared it on my workshop, I said, people like, kind of applauded me.
- 23:30Simone Bueno: I was nice.
- 23:31Simone Bueno: It's good.
- 23:31Simone Bueno: But like, I don't feel good about the video.
- 23:33Simone Bueno: It's not a video that is aligned with me.
- 23:35Simone Bueno: I'm talking about my message about working with moms.
- 23:38Simone Bueno: How, it, that's so much good thing that how I like to work with moms, how we will understand, a lot of things that goes behind the scenes on a mom life, especially when it's a business.
- 23:48Simone Bueno: And how can people rely on moms.
- 23:50Simone Bueno: Because they are hard workers.
- 23:52Simone Bueno: They really, they go beyond.
- 23:54Simone Bueno: And, the visual of the video wasn't aligned with my message, with the thing that I feel comfortable with.
- 24:01Simone Bueno: So that's, that's about, you know, you finding the way you feel, comfortable on camera.
- 24:06Simone Bueno: And you can practice a little bit before sharing life.
- 24:10Simone Bueno: You just, go record the video because sometimes even it's harder for people to record.
- 24:15Simone Bueno: They're going to say, oh, this is going to go already going to go live.
- 24:18Simone Bueno: No.
- 24:20Simone Bueno: Keeping the camera steady.
- 24:21Simone Bueno: Find your best angle, find your best visual, the way you're going to show best on camera.
- 24:26Simone Bueno: And then.
- 24:26Simone Bueno: But don't wait too long.
- 24:28Simone Bueno: Don't wait forever because we're not talking about being perfect.
- 24:31Simone Bueno: We're talking about sharing a message, sharing about your product, your service, that it's going to impact, it's going to make a difference in someone's life.
- 24:39Carmen Hecox: So, you're saying progress.
- 24:41Carmen Hecox: Just focus on the progress.
- 24:42Carmen Hecox: Don't focus on the perfection.
- 24:44Carmen Hecox: Perfection is going to come one day.
- 24:47Simone Bueno: And what is even perfection?
- 24:49Simone Bueno: Well, maybe perfection for you is not what, what people are seeing.
- 24:53Simone Bueno: Like, I still see many flaws on the videos that I'm doing and I still tweak and work over time.
- 24:59Simone Bueno: But many people are watching the videos like, wow, I love the video.
- 25:02Simone Bueno: I love.
- 25:02Simone Bueno: Or, I see, I have, that's a trend in some, that we call like a head talks video.
- 25:07Simone Bueno: That's what I'm saying.
- 25:08Simone Bueno: When it's just you talking on video without animation or stuff or other things working around.
- 25:13Simone Bueno: It's just you sharing the message.
- 25:15Simone Bueno: And some videos, they are talking on the video and then they switch on a second camera there's, well, the film is on the side and I feel a loss of connection on those videos.
- 25:26Simone Bueno: But if they feel okay with the video, they feel okay with the message.
- 25:30Simone Bueno: They are aligned with that message of the video.
- 25:33Simone Bueno: But it's something that when I watch the video that somebody is talking, is telling me a message, I want to keep feeling the connection.
- 25:39Simone Bueno: So if it's another image or photo that you can add to the video and you're still talking.
- 25:45Simone Bueno: People are still going to be listening to you, still going to be listening to the tone of your voice.
- 25:49Simone Bueno: So when we are talking, when we connect the first Carmen, I say, what I share with my clients.
- 25:54Simone Bueno: When you get this visual, you talk in the video, you have the video, the image, your voice, and what it can find on the writing of your caption.
- 26:03Simone Bueno: So they have all the ways to connect, all the ways to find how, they can connect with your message, with your business.
- 26:09Simone Bueno: So, whatever is your focus, your goal, you know, that you want to share on on video.
- 26:14Carmen Hecox: And I think that one thing that I know, like for me, I had wanted to start my podcast for podcasting YouTube show for, I want to say like six, seven years.
- 26:24Carmen Hecox: But what stopped me was, is I kept saying, oh, I have, I need to have the right this and the right, that, and the right, I felt like everything needed to be aligned.
- 26:33Carmen Hecox: And I know when we spoke previously you had said that a lot of the moms that you work with, you discourage them from using those excuses that I need to have the right camera, I need to have the right light equipment and so forth.
- 26:48Carmen Hecox: Can you explain a little bit more about, why you discourage equipment?
- 26:53Simone Bueno: Because you don't know still what works for you.
- 26:56Simone Bueno: Because what we need right now to start sharing, to start talking about business is the cell phone.
- 27:00Simone Bueno: And the many times, you already have it.
- 27:03Simone Bueno: And it means as the cell phone camera has way better image than the one you're going to buy or pay a fortune.
- 27:10Simone Bueno: And then you're going to find, not going to find the best way they're going to work for you or the best way to set up.
- 27:16Simone Bueno: So that's how my training is, is bite size.
- 27:19Simone Bueno: So how are you going to start?
- 27:20Simone Bueno: You start using only your phone.
- 27:22Simone Bueno: And even if you don't have a tripod use books or something to put your phone on a stand or use your hand on the arm length distance.
- 27:30Simone Bueno: Because you don't want to have people, your camera right here on your face.
- 27:34Simone Bueno: That's going to be really, it's uncomfortable.
- 27:37Simone Bueno: When you see those videos that's it's just the face of the person.
- 27:40Simone Bueno: It feels overwhelming.
- 27:42Simone Bueno: So, but if I'm just going to put like a little bit of your, chest, you know, and your shoulders show and your head it's entirely inside of the frame.
- 27:51Simone Bueno: And also it's really good when you can have at least one hand free that you talk and you can, help share this message.
- 27:57Simone Bueno: For example, if you're talking about numbers and you show numbers, two, three, you have the extra visual when people are saying, oh yeah, she said three.
- 28:05Simone Bueno: So they're going to say like, there's three stages on my training.
- 28:09Simone Bueno: That you have, you know, the confidence, the, how you set up on camera, the lighting, and then the editing.
- 28:14Simone Bueno: So I always try to find a way you can represent and use your hands to bring in or out that are always like, I got this on camera and I show them in, out, use your hands to, bring people in, on your video, on your message.
- 28:28Simone Bueno: And so lighting so just finishing, so lighting, especially light that, can be costly.
- 28:33Simone Bueno: And, can be different for everyone.
- 28:35Simone Bueno: So using the natural light.
- 28:37Simone Bueno: I live in an apartment.
- 28:39Simone Bueno: And I have one good window and then it actually is the front for another building.
- 28:43Simone Bueno: So the lighting is not even good enough.
- 28:45Simone Bueno: So one day you go to a park, bring your phone, but be sure to be under a tree.
- 28:50Simone Bueno: So you don't have the direct, strong light over your head.
- 28:53Simone Bueno: There's going to be a hard shadows on your eyes.
- 28:55Simone Bueno: So always try to find like there's so many guides for that.
- 28:58Simone Bueno: And during my training and I already offered also, free guides, how people can get that.
- 29:03Simone Bueno: But you don't need to buy anything to start sharing your messages, to start showing up for your personal brand and for business.
- 29:10Carmen Hecox: So you're saying just show up with what you have right now.
- 29:15Simone Bueno: Yes.
- 29:16Simone Bueno: Practice, practice and press the record.
- 29:19Simone Bueno: And then when you're happy, you're not going to be a hundred percent happy.
- 29:23Simone Bueno: Probably you're going to watch this video, later Carmen's like, oh, I look weird on that little scene on the video.
- 29:29Simone Bueno: But I'm not going to tell Carmen you need to cut the part out, you know?
- 29:33Simone Bueno: We just need to be okay sometimes, just to be okay.
- 29:37Simone Bueno: Because all we are talking here, it's about women when we pass the age of our life, we start being extra judgmental how we look.
- 29:45Simone Bueno: But then you need to find on yourself, on what you do and how you move, how to be confident, how to feel good on your own skin.
- 29:52Simone Bueno: Like if you, okay, if something health related, okay, there's something else.
- 29:57Simone Bueno: But it's still, you see so many people with, disability or stuff that they show on camera and they have confidence that you don't even see the disability.
- 30:06Simone Bueno: Last week, I participated on a call, on a webinar that we were practicing a minute pitch.
- 30:13Simone Bueno: To pitch the business.
- 30:14Simone Bueno: And this woman come on camera and she start talking.
- 30:17Simone Bueno: She has such a confidence.
- 30:19Simone Bueno: And in the middle of her talking, she said, and it happens that I am blind.
- 30:23Simone Bueno: I couldn't say she was blind from the beginning of her message because she practiced, she trained herself to present herself on camera.
- 30:30Simone Bueno: And she probably, she has this, guides how she'll show up on camera and she doesn't even see herself.
- 30:37Simone Bueno: And she was amazing.
- 30:38Simone Bueno: Her framing, her presence, her voice.
- 30:42Simone Bueno: And if a blind person can show so well on camera and be so well presented on camera, we can see ourselves before showing up on camera and say, Yes, I'm good at this.
- 30:52Simone Bueno: I'm happy with this.
- 30:54Carmen Hecox: Yeah, can you share any stories of any women that took your course and you've seen them from being this person who cringed to be on camera or be recorded and just came out into like this amazing butterfly at the end?
- 31:09Simone Bueno: The women that I've been working with, they are very shy, very introvert.
- 31:12Simone Bueno: So there's one in particular that I love working with her.
- 31:16Simone Bueno: She was already doing videos.
- 31:19Simone Bueno: But she had this habit of be looking down or be adding stuff to her video that was always off, like she shouldn't be, going to the, the camera in a way that she could present herself better.
- 31:31Simone Bueno: And then I talked to her like we just, we were connected.
- 31:34Simone Bueno: And then, we end up doing what, one program that I do, it's, a, one-on-one flash focused.
- 31:40Simone Bueno: When somebody already making videos and they want to improve the video, message, the video image.
- 31:45Simone Bueno: So then we got on the call and I focused on how she can present better herself on camera and I said how she can frame herself better.
- 31:53Simone Bueno: So then she will show up on camera better.
- 31:54Simone Bueno: And then she always come back to me.
- 31:56Simone Bueno: She comes back to my trainings.
- 31:57Simone Bueno: Like I will, I love so much.
- 31:59Simone Bueno: I always can get something extra from you.
- 32:01Simone Bueno: Her name is Nancy and, I can share, you know, her accounts later with you.
- 32:06Simone Bueno: And then I have, another one girl that we, also were training and since already showing up on the training, on the Zoom call, she was so much off camera.
- 32:15Simone Bueno: And I was like this is not working, like already, and she's off seas.
- 32:20Simone Bueno: So she meets a lot of, she works, she lives in, in the Philippines.
- 32:25Simone Bueno: And her, most of her clients live in the U.
- 32:27Simone Bueno: S.
- 32:28Simone Bueno: So she meets them online on Zoom calls, and I was telling her, you're not even having this good connection with them on the calls because you're not looking at them.
- 32:36Simone Bueno: You were sideways, her camera was on the side.
- 32:39Simone Bueno: And like, you need to work around.
- 32:41Simone Bueno: So, we're just talking, I will guide her to start tweaking herself on the camera.
- 32:44Simone Bueno: Like, she's like, wow, I already feel so much better now talking on camera.
- 32:49Simone Bueno: Just from the Zoom call.
- 32:51Simone Bueno: And it's like, so this is the last event on my account.
- 32:54Simone Bueno: Now I've shared her her, message, her feedback, testimonial about the video, team.
- 33:00Simone Bueno: So she's very happy and she started, she wants to share also about her training, her, she does, design.
- 33:06Simone Bueno: So she was also only sharing designs, videos on her account.
- 33:10Simone Bueno: It was like, well, it always creates a little bit of difference when you start showing your face.
- 33:14Simone Bueno: When you show people can see who they are working with.
- 33:17Simone Bueno: Because you have already your clients know when to call, but how do you get the new ones to get this connection?
- 33:22Simone Bueno: Are you the right person for them?
- 33:24Simone Bueno: So these are two of the stories that I like a lot.
- 33:28Simone Bueno: The one that she doesn't really like much talking on camera.
- 33:33Simone Bueno: But she does stories.
- 33:35Simone Bueno: She goes a little bit on the story.
- 33:36Simone Bueno: She can show herself a little bit on the story, but she doesn't like to do the videos instead of the videos.
- 33:41Simone Bueno: So when she does the videos, she has a bakery.
- 33:43Simone Bueno: She usually just record herself baking and then but then she work a little bit on the editing.
- 33:48Simone Bueno: She wanted to learn more about the editing.
- 33:51Simone Bueno: And the one that I ah talked to you about the the apartment that she didn't have the window she also wanted to work more on the editing because she's doing video about um she's like a world traveler she talks about traveling and then she wants to mix her messages with images, with doing the editing part.
- 34:07Simone Bueno: So I work with them, focus on what is the goal of your videos?
- 34:12Simone Bueno: Do you need to focus more on the editing.
- 34:14Simone Bueno: On camera confidence.
- 34:15Simone Bueno: On finding the way to align your video with your brand, with your business.
- 34:20Simone Bueno: So we come and meet and then we find the goal.
- 34:23Simone Bueno: That's why the, the one on one customized training is the best.
- 34:28Simone Bueno: But I also working on a continued training because sometimes I see people, they stop going forward because they don't have the support and then they have to be looking for and they stop, it's too much, too much information out there.
- 34:39Simone Bueno: So I just opened a private Facebook account that the people that work with me on the workshop on the one on one training, they can go there and ask for specific, feedback or specific tutorial, what they're looking for.
- 34:52Simone Bueno: And then with that, I'm having this idea now that I might create a course after this, all this tutorial that I'm gathering so, we'll see.
- 35:01Carmen Hecox: Yeah, so let's say we have a mom right now listening and she has an Esty shop and that's how she makes her money.
- 35:10Carmen Hecox: But she knows that she needs to go on video because that's the only way that she's going to be able to let people know that her brand exists.
- 35:19Carmen Hecox: How could she start working with you?
- 35:20Simone Bueno: she probably already have, an account that people might see her products.
- 35:25Simone Bueno: But how are they going to feel?
- 35:26Simone Bueno: Because what happens?
- 35:27Simone Bueno: People remember more about you and about what you sell when they see you.
- 35:32Simone Bueno: So that's the whole idea.
- 35:33Simone Bueno: They need to see you.
- 35:34Simone Bueno: They need to see who's behind that.
- 35:36Simone Bueno: So what are you selling?
- 35:38Simone Bueno: Are you selling design?
- 35:39Simone Bueno: Because now, before Etsy was just about art stuff and craft, like, you know, crochet or things that people would sew and then would sell that.
- 35:48Simone Bueno: But now you can even sell digital products.
- 35:51Simone Bueno: So talk about your process or talk about what inspired you to create this store.
- 35:58Simone Bueno: What is the purpose of the start?
- 35:59Simone Bueno: Did you create the start support?
- 36:01Simone Bueno: What is your why?
- 36:02Simone Bueno: So what I share about me, about what is my why?
- 36:05Simone Bueno: I also do, filmmaking, like I do record videos outside of my home, but I rather focus more on this training, on the coaching training, because that's where I can manage my time better.
- 36:16Simone Bueno: Around my kid's schedule, about my kid's school, so that's, and also working with moms.
- 36:21Simone Bueno: I have situations that the moms need to reschedule because something is happened with her kid.
- 36:26Simone Bueno: Or one day I had my daughter's kid at home and I was able to work from home doing my training because I was home because this is the work I do.
- 36:34Simone Bueno: So this find your why and then share that.
- 36:37Simone Bueno: This is the most beautiful way to start sharing your why.
- 36:41Simone Bueno: Why you do what you do?
- 36:42Simone Bueno: Why did you create this business?
- 36:45Simone Bueno: And then you start sharing what this product or the things going to facilitate this person life instead of just showing the video.
- 36:52Simone Bueno: If you get this calendar, you make your life so much easier.
- 36:56Simone Bueno: Here you put the things like to do for a month.
- 36:59Simone Bueno: Like I am really bad at schedule or organizing stuff.
- 37:03Simone Bueno: But let's see oh, you have the two kids and then you have the calendar and then they have the color.
- 37:09Simone Bueno: So this is the color, green for your son that likes the green.
- 37:12Simone Bueno: So then you put the schedule here in the green.
- 37:13Simone Bueno: This is the, pink for your daughter that likes the pink.
- 37:15Simone Bueno: And then you put.
- 37:16Simone Bueno: So you tell why you created, why it's going to be making their life easier when you have this colorful calendar that they can buy for, you know, a very affordable price online.
- 37:25Simone Bueno: But if you just don't tell, it's just there.
- 37:27Simone Bueno: It's just the product.
- 37:28Simone Bueno: It doesn't have life.
- 37:30Simone Bueno: Once you bring this on your video, you bring life to your product in whichever it is.
- 37:35Simone Bueno: If a candle.
- 37:37Simone Bueno: You can share experience that you live when you lit your candle.
- 37:41Simone Bueno: You can share your own experience and then how you want people to feel like when they have this one inside their home.
- 37:47Carmen Hecox: But how can people begin to work with you so that they can acquire those skills so that they can show up?
- 37:54Simone Bueno: All day I'm really good at the DMs, the messages on Instagram.
- 37:58Simone Bueno: Instagram is my main outreach platform.
- 38:01Simone Bueno: I've opened a lot of Facebook, but Facebook is not so good on, messages that, that's so much weird stuff in the messages on, Facebook.
- 38:09Simone Bueno: But Instagram, I'm always open you just connect on my account.
- 38:13Simone Bueno: My handles are I m Simon Monoy.
- 38:16Simone Bueno: That is i m s i m o n e m o n y.
- 38:21Simone Bueno: And follow.
- 38:22Simone Bueno: Send me a message and then we can start chatting.
- 38:25Simone Bueno: We can start finding how can you, find this voice, this, your voice.
- 38:30Simone Bueno: How can you incorporate your voice into your brand and your face?
- 38:34Simone Bueno: Not only your voice, your voice and your face.
- 38:37Simone Bueno: And you can practice.
- 38:38Simone Bueno: You can start from, little things also, I just mentioned voice.
- 38:41Simone Bueno: Sometimes you can start sharing your product, just talking about it without showing your face.
- 38:46Simone Bueno: And then you start getting used to your voice because we also sound different on video.
- 38:51Simone Bueno: We sound different.
- 38:52Simone Bueno: So then we get, need to get used to our voice.
- 38:55Simone Bueno: So reach out, come, come to my account, start watching um my video.
- 38:59Simone Bueno: And I'm really open already to start helping you even without we working together.
- 39:05Simone Bueno: And then you're going to see that we are fit to work
- 39:07Carmen Hecox: Would you have, like, any workshops or any courses?
- 39:10Carmen Hecox: I know you said you're thinking about establishing a course, but do you have any workshops that, people can participate in?
- 39:15Simone Bueno: I'm going to be open, probably by the time you're going to share this conversation, I'm going to have a new date for the workshop, then I'm going to be sharing with you.
- 39:24Simone Bueno: I haven't set that date yet, but this week I'm working on this and setting the date and the way to come to the workshop.
- 39:31Simone Bueno: So, I'm pretty sure when you have this, conversation now, you're going to be able to share the date.
- 39:36Simone Bueno: So yes, I'm going to be continuing giving workshops where more people can start.
- 39:40Simone Bueno: And also when you can see that I'm the right person for you.
- 39:44Simone Bueno: And then they have the continue way to work on 101, because some people, what is the 101 different from the workshop?
- 39:51Simone Bueno: Workshop, and then you can maybe go and do on your own.
- 39:54Simone Bueno: You can continue on your own.
- 39:55Simone Bueno: You have a workbook, where it's gonna give you all the guides, how you can do on your own.
- 39:59Simone Bueno: But some people need this more personal.
- 40:01Simone Bueno: I need to be only with them.
- 40:03Simone Bueno: They don't feel comfortable sharing or talking with other people to start.
- 40:07Simone Bueno: So that's when the one-on-one comes and when you need more personalized, more focused and more.
- 40:12Simone Bueno: Because on the five weeks with only we meet one time a week and but between this week, I send you exercise, you send back to me and I send you feedback.
- 40:22Simone Bueno: So it's a continual work during five weeks of training.
- 40:25Carmen Hecox: And so there's homework.
- 40:26Simone Bueno: And then you can continue inside the Facebook.
- 40:29Carmen Hecox: I said so there's homework involved.
- 40:32Simone Bueno: Of course.
- 40:33Simone Bueno: How are you going to get to improve what you're doing if you don't get the exercise, if you don't get to take these bite sized actions?
- 40:41Simone Bueno: So you need to train, you need to.
- 40:43Simone Bueno: And what is the good about the training is that you don't have to post anything yet.
- 40:48Simone Bueno: You're going to be sharing the same things that you want to share, but I am going to be the only one watching.
- 40:52Simone Bueno: So then when you get the feedback, you say, Oh, actually I can look good on video.
- 40:58Carmen Hecox: Very good.
- 40:59Carmen Hecox: Any words of encouragement for any of the viewers or listeners that you can provide right now?
- 41:05Simone Bueno: I always love to share this Carmen, that no matter how much you gonna think around doing or not doing video.
- 41:12Simone Bueno: You need to do video because the way you connect, the way people connect with you, because when we think about not doing video, we're thinking about ourselves.
- 41:21Simone Bueno: Because what else we're not going to do video if it's not thinking about ourselves.
- 41:25Simone Bueno: And we don't think how much our little message or the product that you do, because I want to talk about message.
- 41:32Simone Bueno: I'm not talking about sharing spiritual, positive messages, all this stuff.
- 41:37Simone Bueno: It's about how your product, your service can impact, can be beneficial for someone's life.
- 41:43Simone Bueno: And who's better to talk about it than you.
- 41:45Simone Bueno: So that's where you said before, you have clear the message about your product.
- 41:50Simone Bueno: So now you just need to say, yes, the best way for people to remember you, to remember you because you want to be memorable.
- 41:57Simone Bueno: You want, when they use a product, remember who sold to them.
- 42:00Simone Bueno: And, you know, in passion and talk about it.
- 42:03Simone Bueno: So then you can sell more, more product, more service.
- 42:06Simone Bueno: So that's the way you're going to do it.
- 42:08Simone Bueno: You're going to connect more people, have better memory when you're talking a video than only seeing your picture or only reading the words.
- 42:15Simone Bueno: And more and more people are getting, uh, with so much available right there, so much video available, people are getting lazy to read and it's more about listening.
- 42:24Simone Bueno: Even now, we are sharing this, podcast recording a video that people can watch or people are listening and then they go back, oh, I want to see Simone.
- 42:32Simone Bueno: She's talking about yellow.
- 42:33Simone Bueno: She's talking about, her nose, her tooth.
- 42:36Simone Bueno: So I'm going to go and watch the video.
- 42:38Simone Bueno: So whatever you say.
- 42:39Simone Bueno: You can connect all this information.
- 42:41Simone Bueno: People are they might be driving a car, listening to this podcast.
- 42:45Simone Bueno: You might be listening to the podcast on the car driving, and then you listen to me talking about colors, about this stuff, and then you're going to save this podcast to later go and watch the video.
- 42:57Simone Bueno: And this is everything about your product, about your service.
- 43:00Simone Bueno: When you have all these three elements, visual, audio and, reading.
- 43:06Simone Bueno: So you're going to have the visual, audio and reading.
- 43:09Simone Bueno: You can reach people in all different ways and your message is going to be the same because you're going to be talking about your products.
- 43:16Simone Bueno: About things that you love, and that's how people gonna go and generally connect with you.
